- 2:04SPEAKER_02: What's up, y'all?
- 2:06SPEAKER_02: She forgot to mention that we used to do this podcast together.
- 2:09SPEAKER_02: She recruited me, and I was one of her one of her workers.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: I was one of her workers, y'all.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: I was not.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: You was not.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: I said my old co-host in Podcast, buddy, I miss you, though.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: I miss you.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: So tell me what's what's been up?
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: What up, though?
- 2:24SPEAKER_02: Man, living this life out here trying to get this stuff out.
- 2:27SPEAKER_02: I like the conversation we had earlier, talking about how it just seems like it's a lot, a lot, a lot of gatekeeping going on.
- 2:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah, a lot of gatekeeping going on.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: And the fact that you're not just creating cartoons and board games, you're creating something brilliant that's gonna make the mind go into an imaginary world and create a foundation that's gonna be lasting, a lasting legacy.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: So let's get into that a little bit.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: When did you first realize that creating cartoons and telling stories was more than a hobby for you?
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: When I was when I was a child.
- 2:56SPEAKER_02: I was little when I realized that.
- 2:58SPEAKER_02: You know what I'm saying?
- 2:59SPEAKER_02: I tried to quit the sixth grade because I wanted to be a cartoonist and didn't didn't even realize I needed an education to do the basic stuff.
- 3:06SPEAKER_02: I all I wanted to do was draw.
- 3:08SPEAKER_02: All I wanted to do was create stuff and different things like that.
- 3:12SPEAKER_02: And my mind was really hooked on the 80s cartoons.
- 3:16SPEAKER_02: I was stuck in them.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: Bring your mind about that, not the sixth grade.
- 3:20SPEAKER_00: Sixth grade, that was what year?
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: You want to tell your age?
- 3:22SPEAKER_02: No, no, I'm not doing it.
- 3:24SPEAKER_02: I'm not doing it.
- 3:25SPEAKER_02: No, I tell them.
- 3:26SPEAKER_02: It was 1989.
- 3:26SPEAKER_02: I was in the sixth grade in 1989, and man, I I'm telling you, I was hooked on the 80s cartoon, but they were finna go out of the door because you know they had like a a period where they just went away.
- 3:38SPEAKER_02: You know what I'm saying?
- 3:39SPEAKER_02: All the good cartoons went away.
- 3:40SPEAKER_02: Transformer, G.I.
- 3:41SPEAKER_02: Joe, Thundercats, uh, He-Man's, uh, Silverhawks, and then that that that that's when the that's when the rain came in for the um Japanimation, or what we call um anime.
- 3:54SPEAKER_02: That's when anime came in.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: My grandson loved anime.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: And I told him, I said, I remember these characters before, and we didn't call it that, but he was like, It's short for animation.
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: And I was like, Okay, I thought anime was some like um exorcist type stuff at first.
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: I was like, what in the world is the anime?
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: And every time I go out, he's talking about buy me an anime character, a little blue heroine and all this.
- 4:17SPEAKER_00: And I was like, Okay, I remember, I remember them, but we didn't call it that.
- 4:21SPEAKER_00: But okay, you know more about that world than we do.
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: So, what inspired you to begin creating in the first place?
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: Your own characters.
- 4:28SPEAKER_02: My own characters, that's that's exactly what it was.
- 4:31SPEAKER_02: I was in 1989.
- 4:32SPEAKER_02: Um, I was inspired by all the stuff that was out.
- 4:35SPEAKER_02: G.I.
- 4:35SPEAKER_02: Joe Transformer, Silverhawks, you know what I'm saying?
- 4:38SPEAKER_02: All that stuff had had a a huge effect on me.
- 4:40SPEAKER_02: And my imagination, I never lost it.
- 4:43SPEAKER_02: I kept the same imagination from the time I was a kid.
- 4:45SPEAKER_02: So creating for me wasn't nothing.
- 4:47SPEAKER_02: You know what I'm saying?
- 4:48SPEAKER_02: Writing books for me was something, but that came later.
- 4:51SPEAKER_02: I got the skill later to write the books.
- 4:53SPEAKER_02: But uh if you really want to be make it make it a make it really funny, what it is is like when I was a kid, I lied.
- 5:00SPEAKER_02: I lied all the time.
- 5:03SPEAKER_02: I lie all the time.
- 5:05SPEAKER_02: Oh my goodness, I lie all the time.
- 5:07SPEAKER_02: And then I was one of them that a lie, and you be done caught me, and I'm still lying.
- 5:11SPEAKER_02: That was you and your imagination.
- 5:13SPEAKER_02: That was me and my imagination.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: You know what?
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: And I noticed that a lot with kids who do lie, they have a big imagination.
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: Like, where you get this from?
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: And who even taught you how to tell these kind of lies?
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: But they did be serious, they believe their own lies.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: And did you grow out of it?
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: I did, I did, I did, but now it ain't a lie.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: Okay, it's animation now.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: Okay, because at the end of the day, you know, one one of the things we talked about earlier before we um start having this conversation for the world to hear, we talked about the gatekeepers and we talked about how many people are out here doing the same thing because we do know it's many creative people that have great ideas, but few bring them to life.
- 5:49SPEAKER_00: A lot of people have dreams and they never become real visions.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: So, what keeps you disciplined and committed?
- 5:56SPEAKER_00: As we said, you will hop on a hundred things at one time, but what truly keeps you disciplined and committed to sticking to one thing and sticking to your creativity and your cartoons and your books?
- 6:06SPEAKER_00: Because I know the stories are gonna have a powerful effect.
- 6:09SPEAKER_02: I know they got they have messages in them about teamwork and um just all types of different messages in them that people don't see clearly today.
- 6:21SPEAKER_02: Like a lot of people don't even know the difference between good and evil no more, especially kids.
- 6:26SPEAKER_01: Oh wow, you know what I'm saying?
- 6:27SPEAKER_02: They they don't know the difference between good and evil, and I learned because I would watch the cartoons and when they would call me bad when I was little, I'd be like, I ain't no cobra, I ain't no, I ain't no decepticon.
- 6:38SPEAKER_00: My parents hated that word bad.
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: They'd just say, Oh, she's busy.
- 6:41SPEAKER_00: But I my brother begs the difference.
- 6:43SPEAKER_00: He says I was really bad.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: So I was like, Okay, I wasn't just busy.
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: And it and then it is true, it's very true that you would mention that.
- 6:52SPEAKER_00: Um, because we are living in a time, and we have covered that a little bit too, that it's hard to decipher.
- 6:58SPEAKER_00: It's hard to decipher who to trust, who's good, who's bad, what's right, what's wrong, because everything is going.
- 7:03SPEAKER_00: Everything is going.
- 7:05SPEAKER_00: And it ain't no, it ain't no middle in in between, like, don't do this, don't do that.
- 7:09SPEAKER_00: It's like, oh, whatever, especially in this content creating world.
- 7:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you know, everything has to be content, everything is content, all content is good content.
- 7:18SPEAKER_00: No, it's not.
- 7:18SPEAKER_00: No, it's not.
- 7:19SPEAKER_00: That's like saying all money is good money, all money is spendable money, but all money ain't good damn money.
- 7:25SPEAKER_00: So, what obstacles did you face as an independent creator, and how have you pushed through this gatekeeping world that we know we both live in as entrepreneurs and and artists, um, just staying focused and getting your products out there.
- 7:39SPEAKER_02: So the number one thing, if I could hand something over to somebody else to learn is if you can't do everything yourself, make sure that you're getting a professional to help you with your stuff.
- 7:54SPEAKER_02: Because if you and I and sometimes um in earlier days, I would go in, I would go on Fiverr and I would find somebody on Fiverr or whatever else.
- 8:03SPEAKER_02: If you're trying to push, you know, what you're doing, don't go with somebody from your backyard.
- 8:09SPEAKER_02: And that's coming in, you just met them, they making promises, or you make a handshake deal.
- 8:14SPEAKER_02: Because one time I was working with somebody and I got so discouraged, I was on, I was really finna give up.
- 8:21SPEAKER_02: I had a whole cartoon done, it was going good, everything was finna go.
- 8:25SPEAKER_02: I was finna spend the money for promotion and everything like that.
- 8:28SPEAKER_02: And the person backed out on me.
- 8:30SPEAKER_02: And is it it was no it's animation is a lot.
- 8:34SPEAKER_02: So I went to school for four years at um full sale, and I didn't even graduate because I got sick and I had to come out of school.
- 8:41SPEAKER_02: But I went to school for animation.
- 8:43SPEAKER_02: Animation is not easy, especially 3D animation.
- 8:46SPEAKER_02: 3D animation$500 for 15 seconds is is not enough money.
- 8:51SPEAKER_02: $500 for 15 seconds is not enough money.
- 8:54SPEAKER_02: You do a lot with that stuff, especially if you have to create everything and you have to come from scratch.
- 8:59SPEAKER_00: Remember when I hit the fan when you introduced me to somebody about my cartoon, and he told me 30 seconds, I think he said like 5,000 or 6,000.
- 9:08SPEAKER_00: I was like, for 30 seconds, are you out of your mind?
- 9:10SPEAKER_00: But now I see, yeah, now I see why they make the big bucks.
- 9:14SPEAKER_00: Because I told you I don't know how to do a storyboard, and it is hard.
- 9:17SPEAKER_00: It's a lot of work, a lot of pieces, especially to make the animation move, you know, the mouthpiece and all that.
- 9:23SPEAKER_00: And we see the pretty little cute little end game, but we don't realize how much work it is on the other side.
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: And you've done a great job with that because you do have a very, very impressive developing catalog.
- 9:34SPEAKER_00: You have a catalog of 25 cartoons.
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: So when did you get time to do all of that?
- 9:38SPEAKER_02: How do you how do you I've been working, I've been working, I've been doing this ever since really since 1988, but I say it was established in 1989 because by 89 I had my own cartoon characters.
- 9:52SPEAKER_02: I wasn't just drawing what was on TV no more, I had my own cartoon characters, and my first cartoon was the marbles.
- 9:59SPEAKER_00: That's the marbles versus the dice.
- 10:02SPEAKER_02: So this is the this is so funny.
- 10:05SPEAKER_02: You have to put yourself in a board game world, and in this board game world, they live in two modes they live in game mode, they're living life mode.
- 10:12SPEAKER_02: So in life, in game mode, you just play out your game.
- 10:15SPEAKER_02: In life mode, you fellowship, you go learn other games and different things of that nature.
- 10:20SPEAKER_02: So you have these two dice that decided they wanted to learn everything about other board games, and they went and they played a forbidden board game.
- 10:29SPEAKER_02: It's called the Wizard Board, but we're gonna call it the Ouija board because we know it's the Ouija board.
- 10:34SPEAKER_02: So they went out and they played the wizard, they went out and played the wizard board, and the wizard board asked them what game were they from.
- 10:41SPEAKER_02: And when they told him they were just dice, he told them that y'all not real game pieces.
- 10:47SPEAKER_02: Y'all, y'all, y'all don't win or lose, y'all just roll a number.
- 10:50SPEAKER_02: Y'all never win or lose.
- 10:52SPEAKER_02: So the dice got upset, they got furious, and they went out, and and first up uh the whiz, the the guy's name is the whiz, and the whiz taught him supremacy, he taught them violence, he taught them manipulation, he taught them everything that wasn't good because he wasn't good.
- 11:07SPEAKER_02: So after he taught them those things, they went out and formed the biggest army.
- 11:12SPEAKER_02: I'm talking about they were deep, deep like the walking dead.
- 11:15SPEAKER_02: And he went out and these are the dice.
- 11:18SPEAKER_02: They went out and formed formed an entire army, and they went to all the other board games with this violence they had learned from the Ouija boy, and they would beat up the beat up the board games and take their rules.
- 11:30SPEAKER_00: Oh wow.
- 11:31SPEAKER_00: So now all of this is in these episodes.
- 11:34SPEAKER_02: All of this is in the episodes.
- 11:36SPEAKER_02: Like you when you first start watching, you you you first see how the dice just take over everything.
- 11:41SPEAKER_00: So now you got me interested.
- 11:42SPEAKER_00: I I watched one, and I gotta go back, y'all.
- 11:44SPEAKER_00: Y'all gonna have to go and watch all of them.
- 11:46SPEAKER_00: How many episodes do you currently have?
- 11:48SPEAKER_02: Right now, I have to currently have 28 episodes.
- 11:50SPEAKER_00: Okay, how many are uploaded?
- 11:52SPEAKER_00: All 28?
- 11:53SPEAKER_02: 23 are uploaded, and 28 are will be uploaded soon.
- 11:57SPEAKER_02: I'm going to 36 and I'm gonna stop, take a break, and then I'm gonna come back with 36 more to end the season, though.
- 12:03SPEAKER_00: Okay, so now we have one, we in one season.
- 12:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 12:06SPEAKER_00: With the 28.
- 12:07SPEAKER_00: So of all your cartoon projects, is there one that holds a special place in your heart?
- 12:11SPEAKER_02: This one does.
- 12:12SPEAKER_02: The dice this one, the the marbles versus dice legacy in game holds a special place in my heart, but there is one more, and that is the Anarium stick wars.
- 12:20SPEAKER_02: The Anarium Stick Wars is is is is really something that I've been working on just as long as I've been working on that cartoon.
- 12:27SPEAKER_00: And have you published that yet?
- 12:28SPEAKER_00: Are you working on it?
- 12:29SPEAKER_02: I'm still working on it.
- 12:30SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 12:31SPEAKER_00: So how do you how do you take an idea from your imagination?
- 12:34SPEAKER_00: This big imagination that you have had since you was in sixth grade.
- 12:38SPEAKER_00: How do you take an idea from that and turn it into a complete character in the storyline or a series?
- 12:44SPEAKER_02: It's second nature.
- 12:45SPEAKER_02: I can't even like I couldn't even sit up here and just tell you, like, okay, it's a formula to it, and I did it this way.
- 12:52SPEAKER_02: It's not like that.
- 12:53SPEAKER_02: It's like these characters, it feels like they're alive in me.
- 12:57SPEAKER_02: You know what I'm saying?
- 12:57SPEAKER_02: It's not like I just sit down and say, okay, I'm gonna come up with this, I'm come up with that.
- 13:01SPEAKER_02: I just start thinking and stuff started happening.
- 13:04SPEAKER_00: So is your creativity uh an extension of your imagination or your love or your passion?
- 13:11SPEAKER_00: What is it connected to in your overall world?
- 13:13SPEAKER_00: All of them.
- 13:13SPEAKER_00: All of it.
- 13:14SPEAKER_00: All of it.
- 13:15SPEAKER_00: And I think that's most artists.
- 13:16SPEAKER_00: And people think that just because they see an idea and um it's it's come to full circle when they see it, they think it we woke up like that.
- 13:25SPEAKER_00: But you know, it's just no, no, no, no.
- 13:28SPEAKER_00: It's work, it's layers, it's layers to it.
- 13:30SPEAKER_00: And the imagination is such a beautiful thing, and I think that's where we've gotten away from in this society.
- 13:35SPEAKER_00: Kids are on gadgets, they own games.
- 13:37SPEAKER_00: You know, I love, love, love AI.
- 13:40SPEAKER_00: I do.
- 13:40SPEAKER_00: I think um we've always had some form of artificial intelligence in um the world today.
- 13:46SPEAKER_00: We just didn't realize it.
- 13:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but I think that it we still have to utilize our own imagination and our own creativity and embed in that so that we keep that alive.
- 13:56SPEAKER_00: Because when you don't use it, you don't you lose it.
- 13:58SPEAKER_00: You really do.
- 13:59SPEAKER_02: That's another thing I was talking about.
- 14:00SPEAKER_02: Like, look, you walk into the store and all the toys in the store are over 40 years old.
- 14:05SPEAKER_02: They still got He-Man, G.I.
- 14:07SPEAKER_02: Joe Transformers, Thundercats.
- 14:09SPEAKER_02: Well, they don't have Thundercats, but they have cartoons that are over 40 years old.
- 14:12SPEAKER_02: You walk in there, Star Wars still on the show.
- 14:14SPEAKER_00: They might hear it and they might put Thundercats back.
- 14:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 14:16SPEAKER_00: Never know.
- 14:17SPEAKER_00: Because they recreate.
- 14:18SPEAKER_00: Look at all the little kids who done jumped on the Michael Jackson trend.
- 14:21SPEAKER_00: They round here going crazy.
- 14:23SPEAKER_00: They recreating it again.
- 14:24SPEAKER_00: So we we want to see Marble and chips and dips and all of your stuff be some of the new creation.
- 14:31SPEAKER_00: Because it's it's not like, you know, you you get a figurine, and basically you look at all of them, you go down the row, and you know they all figurines of some sort, but everybody had a favorite one.
- 14:41SPEAKER_00: Like you say, the G.I.
- 14:42SPEAKER_00: Joe.
- 14:43SPEAKER_00: My time, I was real crazy about um my superwoman, uh Wonder Woman, and okay, you know, those characters.
- 14:50SPEAKER_00: I I wanted to see those dolls.
- 14:52SPEAKER_00: And my brother was into the G.I.
- 14:53SPEAKER_00: Joe, and he had the um Superman doll, and you know, all that type stuff.
- 14:57SPEAKER_00: But for the most part, I think G.I.
- 14:59SPEAKER_00: Joe stuck with every kid.
- 15:01SPEAKER_00: There's gonna be something that's a world real boys.
- 15:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it was real listen.
- 15:05SPEAKER_02: Okay, Transformers was good.
- 15:06SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but my all-time my all-time favorite cartoon is G.I.
- 15:11SPEAKER_02: Joe because it made sense.
- 15:12SPEAKER_00: It did.
- 15:13SPEAKER_00: And it made sense for both genders.
- 15:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 15:15SPEAKER_00: Like we we all got into that.
- 15:17SPEAKER_00: I remember Saturday morning sitting on the city.
- 15:19SPEAKER_02: And they had black people in the cartoon.
- 15:20SPEAKER_00: They had black people in the city, they had black people.
- 15:22SPEAKER_02: I can name seven black GI Joe characters.
- 15:24SPEAKER_00: And I can still name most of them.
- 15:26SPEAKER_00: And that's one of the greatest things of being a black artist and creator is generating something that actually we grew up with, we can relate with, and looks like us.
- 15:37SPEAKER_00: And even though you know your characters are not colorized, you know, they're they're bright colors, but they're not colorized as far as race.
- 15:45SPEAKER_00: But it's still something that everybody can relate to, dice and marbles.
- 15:48SPEAKER_00: Marbles and dice, baby, marbles and dice, dice and marbles.
- 15:52SPEAKER_00: Every child back in the 70s and 80s, marbles was our thing, and then on every corner, somebody throwing dice.
- 15:59SPEAKER_00: Somebody shooting dice.
- 16:01SPEAKER_00: Every corner, every board game, whether it was Monopoly or um even the um one.
- 16:06SPEAKER_00: Oh my goodness, what's the one with the little ball in the middle?
- 16:09SPEAKER_00: Trouble.
- 16:10SPEAKER_00: Trouble, yes, trouble.
- 16:12SPEAKER_00: And I've I got that game, and it's little now, it's real tiny.
- 16:15SPEAKER_00: It ain't like the big board we used to have.
- 16:17SPEAKER_00: And I got that for my grandkids, and they just be pushing, pushing, pushing.
- 16:20SPEAKER_00: They just love seeing that dice ball around and see the number.
- 16:23SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, y'all don't even know how to play the game, but you know how to push that dice.
- 16:27SPEAKER_00: So that that is very, that is very true.
- 16:29SPEAKER_00: Wow, just about everything centers around dice and marbles when it comes to board games.
- 16:34SPEAKER_00: So let's talk a little bit about your board game.
- 16:36SPEAKER_00: Because we know we know you have uh an array of different um creative things that you have put out here.
- 16:43SPEAKER_00: So tell us about chips and dips, Livy.
- 16:45SPEAKER_02: And chips and dips is a strategy board game, and it's played a lot like it's in between checkers and chess.
- 16:54SPEAKER_02: And it's it's something that when you sit down, it helps your memory.
- 17:00SPEAKER_02: It's it's a lot of um mental benefits from playing the game.
- 17:05SPEAKER_02: Um, and it's it's the colors for it are yellow and um, or gold and blue, and I've actually come out with another version of it.
- 17:14SPEAKER_00: You know, them both of my high school colors.
- 17:16SPEAKER_00: When you first gave me the board game, I was like, both high schools I went with went to in um Georgia and in Michigan, their colors were blue and gold.
- 17:23SPEAKER_00: Guess what?
- 17:23SPEAKER_00: So I fell in love with it.
- 17:25SPEAKER_00: I was like, I like them colors.
- 17:26SPEAKER_00: Guess what?
- 17:27SPEAKER_02: Them them my school colors.
- 17:28SPEAKER_02: Really?
- 17:29SPEAKER_02: With the Bradwell Institute in Hinesville, Georgia.
- 17:31SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 17:32SPEAKER_00: My colors.
- 17:33SPEAKER_00: So so tell tell me a little bit about what inspired you to create the board game.
- 17:37SPEAKER_02: What's the concept and the inspiration behind that?
- 17:39SPEAKER_02: I was doing so much creating, I just wanted to challenge my mind.
- 17:42SPEAKER_02: Like, I I did a clothing line.
- 17:44SPEAKER_02: I got I got clothes drawn up that nobody's ever seen before.
- 17:48SPEAKER_02: You know what I'm saying?
- 17:49SPEAKER_02: Stuff you can put on that nobody's ever seen before.
- 17:51SPEAKER_02: And I said, Okay, clothing line, let me let me try a clothing line.
- 17:55SPEAKER_02: And I said, Oh, wait a minute, because my mind had just it's like it just suddenly expanded.
- 17:59SPEAKER_02: And then I was like, Oh, let me try a board game.
- 18:02SPEAKER_02: So then I put the board if I tell you how much time it took me to create this board game, how much?
- 18:06SPEAKER_02: Everybody else be like, You lying.
- 18:08SPEAKER_02: How much?
- 18:08SPEAKER_00: There's no way in the world, and it because the game definitely incorporates a lot of patience and strategy, and you know, and concentration.
- 18:15SPEAKER_00: Even when you were telling me the rules of the game, I was like, uh-uh, I'm thinking checkers, I'm gonna play this my way, I'm gonna do this, but it's a little bit deeper, it's deeper than checkers, and I was like, Wait, it's a little backgammon chest checkers, and all threw up in here.
- 18:27SPEAKER_00: I gotta pay attention.
- 18:29SPEAKER_00: So, you know, we played it in a in a um restaurant, and the the atmosphere was not very quiet, but we was hyping each other up and we were still having a good time.
- 18:37SPEAKER_00: And I was like, wait a minute, I gotta pay attention because I did have to use a little strategy because you was about me beating, you was about to beat me, you was about to beat me.
- 18:44SPEAKER_02: Always win.
- 18:45SPEAKER_00: You did not win, though.
- 18:47SPEAKER_00: I said I always win.
- 18:48SPEAKER_00: You I think I won by fluke, y'all.
- 18:50SPEAKER_00: I ain't gonna lie, because for real, for real, I he was kind of distracted, and I was like, Okay, let me go ahead and make this move because you missed you missed one pertinent move, and that was my kill move.
- 19:01SPEAKER_00: And I was like, Okay, I can't remember the tape.
- 19:03SPEAKER_02: Listen, you can hit on the on I love the game because it's 24 pieces that you play with, but you in this game right here, if you strategize, if you can strategize, you can win with three pieces, and the other person might have five.
- 19:14SPEAKER_00: Exactly, and you have to be paying attention.
- 19:17SPEAKER_00: So when you was creating this game, who did you have in mind and what what genre did you design it for?
- 19:22SPEAKER_00: And what makes it different?
- 19:23SPEAKER_02: Everybody, the kids, the adults, everybody.
- 19:26SPEAKER_00: I could that kid gotta damn near be a genius, I think, to kind of sit down and play chips and dips, though.
- 19:31SPEAKER_02: No, because listen, I have played many kids, but you gotta be smart.
- 19:35SPEAKER_02: And listen, when I went when I went to Invest Fest, I lost to a kid.
- 19:38SPEAKER_02: You sure did.
- 19:39SPEAKER_02: I went to Invest Fest, I covered because he wouldn't know, but I think he got me straight up.
- 19:47SPEAKER_02: Everybody that beat me either beat me because I was talking.
- 19:50SPEAKER_01: Uh-huh.
- 19:50SPEAKER_02: No, I was that little boy, that little boy put it on.
- 19:53SPEAKER_00: He was focused, and you ended up giving him a board game, didn't you?
- 19:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I gave it to the board game.
- 19:57SPEAKER_00: Yeah, because you he he was very he came in there dressed nice.
- 20:00SPEAKER_00: I remember that he was dressed real nice and he was into it.
- 20:02SPEAKER_00: He was like, Oh yeah, I like this.
- 20:04SPEAKER_00: I'm I'm ready to focus on this.
- 20:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he beat you fair and square.
- 20:08SPEAKER_00: I I kind of I kind of slid into my win, but that was your fault you weren't paying attention.
- 20:12SPEAKER_00: You knew what your game was about.
- 20:14SPEAKER_00: You should have been paying attention.
- 20:16SPEAKER_02: I mean, it's like I don't I done played a lot of kids, and it's like they natural edit.
- 20:20SPEAKER_02: Like they like they come in, they sit down, and they like, I played this one little kid.
- 20:24SPEAKER_02: I could not believe, like, I was sitting on the board struggling for a second or two, like, hold up.
- 20:29SPEAKER_02: This have he played this before in this school or something?
- 20:32SPEAKER_02: Because you know, I dropped off a bunch of the t-shirts.
- 20:34SPEAKER_02: I donated a bunch of t-shirts to High Point Elementary School, uh, Riverdale Um Elementary School, and um I donated some shirts to my my mayor's office over here in Morrow because me and him real cool.
- 20:48SPEAKER_02: So I donated some shirts to him.
- 20:50SPEAKER_02: So I haven't seen them around, but a lot of people tell me they see these chips dip shirts around.
- 20:54SPEAKER_00: That then and you do, and you may not run into people because I remember my first experience when I first um published my book in 2019.
- 21:03SPEAKER_00: I was in another state when I came back to Georgia.
- 21:05SPEAKER_00: I had pushed a lot of books in South Georgia, and um, I didn't think people was paying attention.
- 21:10SPEAKER_00: I was like, you know, the people that know me know me, of course.
- 21:12SPEAKER_00: You know, they buy in.
- 21:13SPEAKER_00: Most of my sales was coming from people that I knew who loved me and supported me, blase blase.
- 21:18SPEAKER_00: But I walked into the um, it wasn't the circle cade then, it was a few south.
- 21:22SPEAKER_00: And um, this little Caucasian girl, she's like, That's the lady from Chewy, small little town, you know, and I was so elated and I know unbeknownst to me, they had published me in the in the um paper.
- 21:34SPEAKER_00: So she her, I guess her parents or somebody hadn't already said meant made mention of it.
- 21:39SPEAKER_00: And she remember, she she knew my face from the back of the cover.
- 21:42SPEAKER_00: And I looked at her and I was like, Oh my god, like I felt like a god dog gone star.
- 21:47SPEAKER_00: I was like, Okay, now I done made it, might be in a little bit of time, but she noticed and she said, That's the lady from Chewy.
- 21:53SPEAKER_00: And I say, That's that's what it's all about, you know.
- 21:56SPEAKER_00: And you may not be noticing, your shirts may not be seen on the backs of everybody right now, but they're wearing it.
- 22:01SPEAKER_00: Somebody's seeing, and that's what we have to focus on.
- 22:03SPEAKER_00: We have to focus on patience because our time is coming.
- 22:06SPEAKER_00: And definitely, you know, you have the cartoons.
- 22:10SPEAKER_00: I know right now, um, that's where your focus is major, but you also have to think about all the other things that you have put out.
- 22:18SPEAKER_00: You've put out the books, you put out um the board game.
- 22:21SPEAKER_00: Those are things that you also want to keep marketing and letting people know that you have because it all goes together.
- 22:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm not gonna I'm not gonna stop with that.
- 22:28SPEAKER_02: I'm not gonna stop with it.
- 22:29SPEAKER_02: I love the advice.
- 22:30SPEAKER_02: I love the marketing advice you give me too.
- 22:33SPEAKER_02: And so I love to get it on record that you know what I'm saying, you have been a big help to me the whole time I've been trying to move.
- 22:38SPEAKER_02: You know what I'm saying?
- 22:39SPEAKER_02: There's a bunch of people that have been a help to me, but you know what I'm saying?
- 22:42SPEAKER_02: You can't.
- 22:43SPEAKER_00: Because we in this together, we gotta sit together.
- 22:44SPEAKER_00: Because you know, we all as artists think that we are the next big thing.
- 22:48SPEAKER_00: But I know I'm not gonna, that's why I'm not gonna even ask you the question do you see your cartoons, books, and board games eventually becoming a Part of a larger uh spectrum in the entertainment world because it is.
- 22:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it definitely is.
- 22:59SPEAKER_00: We already we spoke it what five years ago when we first met, and it's definitely going to become.
- 23:04SPEAKER_00: And I think one of the biggest things that we have to stay on each other about in the black community is making sure that when we get that opportunity, we leave the door open.
- 23:13SPEAKER_00: We leave the door open because you have definitely taught me a lot of stuff too.
- 23:16SPEAKER_00: And we we fussed and argued so much, y'all, when we was on that podcast together.
- 23:21SPEAKER_00: I love it all.
- 23:24SPEAKER_02: Let not nobody trying to hurt him.
- 23:26SPEAKER_00: I love it.
- 23:27SPEAKER_00: Kevin was right there.
- 23:33SPEAKER_00: And I was like, girl, leave me alone.
- 23:34SPEAKER_00: You better leave me alone.
- 23:36SPEAKER_00: But it's it took a lot out of me when um when the team fell off, and I knew you had your own stuff to do, and you know, we lost Cammy.
- 23:44SPEAKER_00: And I said, you know, I'm gonna let him focus, ain't gonna bother him, I'm gonna leave him alone.
- 23:48SPEAKER_00: So I was very elated when um we reconnected and we decided to sit down today and share everything that you had going on because you ain't just been sitting around twirling your thumbs, man.
- 23:58SPEAKER_00: I don't you've been working, you've been working.
- 24:01SPEAKER_00: When I went to YouTube and I was like, Oh my god, I remember him in there not paying attention to me when I was talking, and he got this big old screen on the wall, and I'm like, What is he doing?
- 24:14SPEAKER_00: I'm like, Kimmy, what is he doing?
- 24:15SPEAKER_00: He over here with all this shit.
- 24:17SPEAKER_00: We coming in here with one little microphone, and you over here with a whole studio.
- 24:21SPEAKER_00: Like, what is this man doing?
- 24:23SPEAKER_00: We don't know nothing about this.
- 24:24SPEAKER_00: We just gonna run out about it.
- 24:25SPEAKER_00: He over here trying to mix and talk about key, you gotta fix this and do the tuning.
- 24:29SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, Yeah, he he a real animator.
- 24:32SPEAKER_00: He he he he beyond my pay grade.
- 24:34SPEAKER_00: I can't I can't do nothing with him.
- 24:36SPEAKER_00: So now we're here.
- 24:38SPEAKER_00: Now we're here with 28 episodes, a plethora of books still, your clothing line, because you still doing your shirts, your chips and dips, and I I'm looking for a sequel to that board game.
- 24:50SPEAKER_00: What we're working on at, yeah, I already did.
- 24:54SPEAKER_00: I knew it's called chips and dips football.
- 24:56SPEAKER_00: Oh my goodness.
- 24:58SPEAKER_00: See, if you know I don't like football, you know I do not like football.
- 25:01SPEAKER_00: Don't y'all football people start inboxing me and asking me all these questions.
- 25:04SPEAKER_00: That's not your fault.
- 25:05SPEAKER_02: That's not your fault.
- 25:06SPEAKER_02: You don't like that.
- 25:06SPEAKER_02: And is it what's messed up about it?
- 25:08SPEAKER_02: Nobody just loved on you like that.
- 25:10SPEAKER_00: I know the game though.
- 25:11SPEAKER_00: I know the game, and I and I think it's because I told you my daddy wanted boys, and he got all girls and one boy, and we just didn't want to go.
- 25:20SPEAKER_00: It was cold in Detroit.
- 25:21SPEAKER_00: We didn't want to go no games.
- 25:23SPEAKER_00: I think if I would have been more spent more time here and going to Friday night football and all that, I would have a love for it.
- 25:30SPEAKER_00: Okay, but we didn't have Friday, we didn't make a big deal out of Friday night football.
- 25:34SPEAKER_00: We made a big deal out of college football.
- 25:36SPEAKER_02: But look, in the South, though, you know what I'm saying?
- 25:38SPEAKER_02: Like down here, and I ain't trying to be funny, it ain't nothing to do but go to a football game on Friday night.
- 25:44SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 25:45SPEAKER_02: You and especially in an odd damn time, you was either going to a football game, you was going to a school dance, because they was blowed up back in the day.
- 25:52SPEAKER_02: Yeah, a school, somebody said it was a school dance on Friday.
- 25:56SPEAKER_00: When I came down south and went to school, and I was like, and I was in high school, and I was like, oh, Friday night football, whole town coming to football.
- 26:04SPEAKER_00: And they got homecoming, and then I didn't even know I didn't even know I had one homecoming court or something.
- 26:09SPEAKER_00: And they was like, oh, they nominated you.
- 26:11SPEAKER_00: I was like, who did that?
- 26:12SPEAKER_00: Like, why would they do that?
- 26:14SPEAKER_00: I was so I was livid G.
- 26:15SPEAKER_00: I was like, now I gotta get a dress and shit.
- 26:17SPEAKER_00: I gotta do all this, get my hair done, and all that.
- 26:20SPEAKER_00: Because I I mean, I've always been a girly girl, but I ain't never been an extra girly girl, you know, like I ain't getting up every day putting on a face full of makeup.
- 26:28SPEAKER_00: Never, never has been me.
- 26:29SPEAKER_00: So they was like, you gotta get a prom dress.
- 26:31SPEAKER_00: I was like, uh-uh-uh, no.
- 26:33SPEAKER_00: I wore like a two-piece um silk uh skirt, and and something my sister was like, Why would you pick this out?
- 26:41SPEAKER_00: I was like, This is what I want to wear.
- 26:43SPEAKER_00: I don't want I don't want to wear a long prom dress, but oh well, it's in the earbook somewhere, somebody's cool, so oh well.
- 26:50SPEAKER_00: But that is that is a very big thing, and I'm looking forward to that now.
- 26:53SPEAKER_00: What colors are that gonna be?
- 26:54SPEAKER_00: That's gonna be your school colors.
- 26:56SPEAKER_00: No, I got them, I got the board right there.
- 26:58SPEAKER_02: So, what is it?
- 26:59SPEAKER_02: What is it gonna be about?
- 27:00SPEAKER_02: What is it about?
- 27:01SPEAKER_02: Okay, so it's played almost exactly like chips and dips.
- 27:04SPEAKER_02: But happened, so what happened was I went to a convention of some sort, and it was called a circle of CEOs.
- 27:14SPEAKER_02: And um, there were like several millionaires there that was throwing it.
- 27:18SPEAKER_02: It was a networking event.
- 27:20unknown: Okay.
- 27:20SPEAKER_02: So one of the CEOs, his name was um Neo.
- 27:25SPEAKER_02: And um Neo was like, yo, I brought the whole game in uh Neo was like, yo, I like it.
- 27:31SPEAKER_02: It looked, man, you got everything together, it's it's packaged.
- 27:34SPEAKER_02: You know what I'm saying?
- 27:35SPEAKER_02: Yo, I want you to get on um Instagram and I want you to message this guy.
- 27:42SPEAKER_02: And he because he's over the board game section and stuff like that.
- 27:45SPEAKER_02: And he was like, I want you to message this guy.
- 27:47SPEAKER_02: So I went to message the guy, and I messaged him, and then when I tried to message him again, I was like on block, but I said I didn't I expected that because you know, on stranger, and then it was like, you know, Neo.
- 28:01SPEAKER_02: So um the next day he was having another event where we were shopping for the um less fortunate kids or whatever, and we was all buying stuff, and he came in and I was talking to him again, and he was like, Um, man, I don't.
- 28:17SPEAKER_02: I said, I told him, I said he ain't got back to me yet on the board game, but you know, it's it's all good.
- 28:22SPEAKER_02: And he was like, Well, let me call him.
- 28:24SPEAKER_02: So he called him and he said he didn't see where it was marketable.
- 28:28SPEAKER_02: He never played it, he never saw it, and he just said he didn't see where it was marketable.
- 28:33SPEAKER_01: Are you serious?
- 28:34SPEAKER_02: Yep, and he was like, Why did you name it chips and dips?
- 28:37SPEAKER_02: And I said, the reason why I named the game chips and dips, I said, because you can't think of anything but fun when somebody says chips and dips.
- 28:46SPEAKER_02: It's game time when somebody says chips and dips.
- 28:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 28:49SPEAKER_02: You know what I'm saying?
- 28:50SPEAKER_02: It's it's you know what I'm saying, and he said it wasn't marketable without ever touching it, playing it.
- 28:55SPEAKER_02: And without ever hearing your pitch.
- 28:57SPEAKER_02: Without hearing the pitch or seeing the game.
- 29:00SPEAKER_02: But like I said, Neil was okay with it, but his his man wasn't.
- 29:05SPEAKER_02: And so it just kind of stayed still.
- 29:07SPEAKER_02: And I kind of laughed when I walked away because I was like, what's gonna happen when you see this thing everywhere and you had the opportunity to be the one that was like?
- 29:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah, there's a lot of of big big ideas.
- 29:20SPEAKER_00: Somebody slept on it.
- 29:21SPEAKER_00: Somebody slept on it.
- 29:22SPEAKER_00: You pass it.
- 29:23SPEAKER_00: I was just watching a clip from um Steve Harvey where he was saying how um I think it was ABC or one of these other big networks, um, passed up on um Celebrity Family View.
- 29:36SPEAKER_00: They was like, nah, uh-uh, we don't want it.
- 29:39SPEAKER_00: And so he pitched it to NBC.
- 29:41SPEAKER_00: They took a chance, and then the other network, I think it was ABC or NBC one of them, anyway, whichever one passed up on it.
- 29:48SPEAKER_00: When the other network picked up, they wanted double back and wanting to get it.
- 29:52SPEAKER_00: And he was like, nah, they took a chance on me.
- 29:55SPEAKER_00: So I'm not gonna, I'm not gonna drop them and come back to you.
- 29:58SPEAKER_00: And he said the CEO of that um network basically came and blackballed him.
- 30:03SPEAKER_00: That's when they cut his show.
- 30:04SPEAKER_00: And I never knew why his show got cut.
- 30:06SPEAKER_00: He was like, they cut my show, they cut the other um little game show he was doing, and was like, basically, yeah, I show him.
- 30:12SPEAKER_00: Just because you slept on him and he went somewhere where somebody actually believed in the idea, and then now you come back and get mad and you try to you try to strangle his growth, but still he rose, and that's exactly how it is in this industry.
- 30:25SPEAKER_00: And people don't realize that I had a situation with somebody on social media the other day.
- 30:30SPEAKER_00: It was so funny, G, because he thought he was going in, and I was like, Oh, he was just dragging me.
- 30:34SPEAKER_00: Oh, well, you supposed to be this and you're supposed to be that, and you got this company, you are author, and you this and that, but you still ain't showing no money.
- 30:42SPEAKER_00: First of all, how are you counting my money?
- 30:44SPEAKER_00: You're not counting my money, I'm not advertising my money.
- 30:46SPEAKER_00: Second of all, it doesn't happen overnight.
- 30:49SPEAKER_00: So just because I'm not where you may think I should be, I'm where I think I should be right in this industry, because this industry is a dog.
- 30:58SPEAKER_00: It's a dog, and you can't be no, you can't, as my dad you say, you can't be no shitty.
- 31:02SPEAKER_00: You you gotta be a big dog out here, and I don't think people realize it until they get into it, how hard it is to actually make it to create anything.
- 31:11SPEAKER_00: That's any creator, that's if you're a rapper, and you may have the dopest tracks.
- 31:16SPEAKER_00: I was watching today on social media, and it's crazy, because you would say he would say that you're not marketable and you ain't even you ain't even played the game, you ain't you don't even know what what's going on with the game.
- 31:27SPEAKER_00: And I look at everybody doing the same thing in the comparisons with papoose and Jay-Z.
- 31:31SPEAKER_00: I'm like, how can people sleep on papoose and say Jay-Z is the cream of the crowd when they got the same type style, same type lyrical uh rhythm, and papoose is really dope.
- 31:42SPEAKER_00: He's really dope.
- 31:43SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, they have the same aura, but it's just who they favor, it's who they favor.
- 31:49SPEAKER_00: We're in an industry in a world where whoever you favor and whatever, you know, whatever's favored, and whatever you get out here, and whoever you shake hands with and get into bed with, or whatever it is you're gonna do to get what you need to get.
- 32:00SPEAKER_00: That's what sales.
- 32:01SPEAKER_00: And that's so wrong.
- 32:02SPEAKER_00: But if you if you be consistent, like you are consistent, because it takes consistency to do 28 episodes, anything.
- 32:08SPEAKER_00: I mean, I and I tell you all the time, you know I'm not consistent at all, but I you are, and you have you you have really, really created yourself a um a dynasty.
- 32:19SPEAKER_00: You created a dynasty that's gonna uh go far and it's it's gonna rise.
- 32:24SPEAKER_00: And um, when you see yourself and when you get to that to that era where your stuff is as big as a Tyler Perry, even though you know you know I don't want to say his name.
- 32:35SPEAKER_00: But when you get there, what is it you want people to really take from everything that you went through and everything you've had to overcome to get to where you at?
- 32:44SPEAKER_02: Don't forget about the people that was there for real, for real.
- 32:48SPEAKER_02: Don't forget about the people who was there for for real.
- 32:51SPEAKER_02: I'm not talking about somebody who was there, they left and came back 15 times or you know what I'm saying?
- 32:58SPEAKER_02: Because you if you know you got the momentum where you ain't gonna stop, you a real rocket, you know what I'm saying?
- 33:03SPEAKER_02: You're gonna pass by a lot of clouds.
- 33:05SPEAKER_02: And a lot of people and people represent those clouds, but your your fans on that rocket gonna stay with you, they're not going nowhere.
- 33:13SPEAKER_02: The fuel in the rocket is gonna stay with you, it's not going nowhere.
- 33:16SPEAKER_02: So making it to the top and looking back and being able to come back down and pull people you can pull up, because you can't take everybody with you.
- 33:25SPEAKER_02: You can't, you know what I'm saying?
- 33:27SPEAKER_02: But it's gonna be some people that you know you know you got to touch because they was really there for you.
- 33:33SPEAKER_02: Try your hardest not to forget them.
- 33:35SPEAKER_02: Because stuff's I know that once you start, when you break that, you you reach that breaking point, stuff gonna start moving so fast that it's gonna be easy to forget people.
- 33:45SPEAKER_00: And like this guy slept on you, even though we know you're brilliant.
- 33:49SPEAKER_00: I know you're brilliant.
- 33:50SPEAKER_00: Even when I first met you and I was introduced to you by somebody else, and I said I I instantly latched on because I was like, oh yeah, this guy, this guy got talent.
- 33:59SPEAKER_00: Then you came to my job, you brought your books, and you know, it was on from then.
- 34:04SPEAKER_00: He slept on you.
- 34:05SPEAKER_00: But what would the right partnership or investor or opportunity look like for you today?
- 34:10SPEAKER_00: Right now.
- 34:11SPEAKER_00: What would that what would that what would your opportune investor look like if you could have that opportunity?
- 34:17SPEAKER_00: Tell tell us what what you're looking for.
- 34:21SPEAKER_00: Just somebody to spend some money, spend that shit.
- 34:24SPEAKER_02: Maybe maybe more than anything, somebody who who um see the vision, you know what I'm saying?
- 34:29SPEAKER_02: And we can we can um we can talk that business, you know what I'm saying, about how to split it and what to do with it.
- 34:37SPEAKER_02: And they come in and you know what I'm saying, and and not trying to totally rape the whole situation, right?
- 34:42SPEAKER_02: You know what I'm saying, but everybody eat.
- 34:44SPEAKER_02: And copy and mimic.
- 34:49SPEAKER_00: They do it all the time.
- 34:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and um, and that's sad because we we spoke on that, and that'll probably be another show.
- 34:54SPEAKER_00: Should we have this opportunity to sit down again?
- 34:57SPEAKER_00: I know we will, um, because the the the chemistry always comes back.
- 35:01SPEAKER_00: But we have to, as as a black community who we we already know we're we're hundreds and hundreds of years behind in every industry, not just the entertainment industry, not just you know, artistry, not just um education, everything home ownership, finances, investing, everything we're behind.
- 35:18SPEAKER_00: We have to learn how to not try to suck up all the air in one goddamn setting.
- 35:24SPEAKER_00: We gotta share some of the air with other people.
- 35:27SPEAKER_00: That's right.
- 35:27SPEAKER_00: And even though your stuff is is for a whole genre, is it's family, it's children of all ages.
- 35:34SPEAKER_00: We can enjoy your your cartoon, we can enjoy your board game.
- 35:38SPEAKER_00: But when families sit down, children sit down, what do you want them to take away from your product?
- 35:45SPEAKER_02: I want them to when they look at that product, I want them to realize that it was somebody who did it that was just like that.
- 35:53SPEAKER_02: Okay, and when I um I'm I watch a lot of um documentaries on like toys and board games and stuff like that.
- 36:01SPEAKER_02: You can find them on Tubi.
- 36:03SPEAKER_02: Or it's one on Netflix that's real powerful, but I watched another one on Tubi that was crazy.
- 36:08SPEAKER_00: You told me about um The Toys That Made Us is Toys That Made That's on Netflix.
- 36:12SPEAKER_02: It ain't but like nine or ten episodes of it.
- 36:15SPEAKER_02: But they got another one called The Toys That Built America.
- 36:18SPEAKER_00: Where's that?
- 36:19SPEAKER_02: That's on Tubi.
- 36:20SPEAKER_02: Oh my god.
- 36:21SPEAKER_00: Oh, I gotta watch that in the show.
- 36:22SPEAKER_02: Oh my god, that thing tell you everything from the Slinky to the Hula Hoo to all the board games to Nintendo when it came out, Sega, it goes over everything.
- 36:32SPEAKER_00: My heart was broken when I watched that Netflix when you told me about with um the Care Bears and how that got taken from that lady and um the Ninja Turtles.
- 36:40SPEAKER_00: I was like, oh my goodness, is this what happened?
- 36:42SPEAKER_00: That's what made me hold on so hard to my character because I'm like, they'll buy you out, they'll buy you out, they'll make you real, real big, yeah, and then you'll be stuck.
- 36:50SPEAKER_00: You'll be stuck in you in your legacy is over.
- 36:52SPEAKER_02: Or they'll shelf it.
- 36:52SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 36:53SPEAKER_02: Or they'll shelf it if you won't get it.
- 36:55SPEAKER_02: I think the hard the the most hurtful story I heard on The Toys That Built America was about a guy named Marvin Steele who ran a company.
- 37:05SPEAKER_02: He ran a company, and this was back when women were like being oppressed.
- 37:10SPEAKER_02: It didn't matter if you black people being oppressed, but women was being oppressed too.
- 37:14SPEAKER_02: Only all in a whole nother category.
- 37:17SPEAKER_02: But this lady created a board game, and the board game she created was the bright light.
- 37:21SPEAKER_02: She created the bright light board game.
- 37:23SPEAKER_02: Um, not board game, but the bright light little game.
- 37:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah, the bright light little game.
- 37:27SPEAKER_02: Yeah, she created that.
- 37:28SPEAKER_02: So when she created it, she created it, it didn't have the black background on it.
- 37:33SPEAKER_02: Her supervisor put the black background on it to make the lights more vibrant.
- 37:37SPEAKER_02: Okay, that's all he did.
- 37:38SPEAKER_02: But she created the whole thing.
- 37:40SPEAKER_02: So when he turned it in as a game, it went crazy.
- 37:45SPEAKER_02: And the the big boss was Marvin Steele, but her boss ended up, Marvin Steele gave her boss all the credit for it.
- 37:51SPEAKER_02: She didn't get a pay raise, she didn't get nothing.
- 37:54SPEAKER_02: She didn't get nothing.
- 37:55SPEAKER_02: So she went out and created another game.
- 37:59SPEAKER_02: She created another game, and it was something I can't remember the name of the game, but it was something where you stick your hand in a box and it had all different shapes and animals in there.
- 38:07SPEAKER_02: You had to figure out what it is.
- 38:08SPEAKER_02: Pull them out.
- 38:09SPEAKER_02: Pull them out, like, yeah, pull them out.
- 38:10SPEAKER_02: She happened with that game.
- 38:12SPEAKER_02: So I'm gonna tell you.
- 38:13SPEAKER_02: So what ends up happening is so she sold that game, pull them out to another uh company where she was working for one company.
- 38:22SPEAKER_02: Well, Marvin still came back and and and and gave all his people on his job a lot of detective tests because he had heard one of them sold the game, and somebody had helped her.
- 38:33SPEAKER_02: So the person that helped her, he said, I confess I did it.
- 38:37SPEAKER_02: So, but he still gave everybody the lie detective tests, and he ended up catching her.
- 38:41SPEAKER_02: So he fired her and went and kept her game and went back and but and went back and sued the other company or or had a court order get issued to the other company that said anything she created belongs to us.
- 38:52SPEAKER_02: And they took the game.
- 38:54SPEAKER_00: And that's what a lot of podcasters do too.
- 38:56SPEAKER_00: And um, they'll get a story, they'll pay people for these stories.
- 39:00SPEAKER_00: Remember when we first met and I said, I ain't paying no slaveries to come talk to me.
- 39:04SPEAKER_00: I ain't paying nobody to run their mouth because you either want to tell your story or you don't want to tell it.
- 39:08SPEAKER_00: But now we all got a platform, so it's like at the end of the day, why am I gonna pay you five, six thousand dollars to come tell a story you done told some other people and they own parts of it?
- 39:18SPEAKER_00: They done paid you for parts of it, so you gotta dumb down what you're talking to me about, or the next person or the next person, because you done already got paid and sold your story to somebody who done put in fine print that you can't go share this with nobody else.
- 39:30SPEAKER_00: And it's basically boring now, yeah, because you you can only talk about so much.
- 39:34SPEAKER_00: So that's and and people don't read.
- 39:36SPEAKER_00: That's what I love so much about um all of your creativity.
- 39:40SPEAKER_00: It makes you think everything you do makes you use your mind.
- 39:45SPEAKER_00: You gotta use your mind, play that board game, you gotta use your mind, even watch these episodes because you're gonna have to go back to episode one to catch up with three, four, and five and so on and so forth.
- 39:54SPEAKER_00: You gotta use your mind, you gotta look deep into it because that's what we want.
- 39:57SPEAKER_00: We want kids to still, and even adults, use your brain and and think deeper, think beyond what you see and beyond what's given to you.
- 40:05SPEAKER_00: You know, everybody wants something given to them, quick, fast, and in a hurry.
- 40:08SPEAKER_00: The whole plot.
- 40:10SPEAKER_00: I'm bad about that.
- 40:11SPEAKER_00: I will literally watch a movie and then I'll go and read what the ending gonna be.
- 40:16SPEAKER_00: I ain't got the patience to see.
- 40:18SPEAKER_00: I ain't got the patience, and I'm learning that.
- 40:20SPEAKER_00: And and you you have been very patient with your craft, and um I I'm very, very, very, very determined to to make sure that your stuff gets out there, and I know that it's gonna make it.
- 40:32SPEAKER_00: I know that you're gonna do what you do.
- 40:33SPEAKER_00: And when you do what you do, tell us what's gonna be next.
- 40:38SPEAKER_00: Or don't tell us if you don't want to.
- 40:40SPEAKER_00: You can surprise us.
- 40:41SPEAKER_00: But what does G Brown have next?
- 40:44SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna blow up what I want to do is blow up this channel, this uh YouTube channel.
- 40:48SPEAKER_02: Um, it's at marbles versus dice.
- 40:51SPEAKER_02: Everything is at marbles versus dice.
- 40:53SPEAKER_00: That was my next question.
- 40:54SPEAKER_02: Where can they find you?
- 40:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah, they can find me on Instagram, marbles vs.
- 40:58SPEAKER_02: Dice, they can find me on Facebook, uh, Marble Brown, Marble versus Dice.
- 41:02SPEAKER_02: They can find me on YouTube.
- 41:04SPEAKER_02: Basically, it's really YouTube is where you're gonna go and get the episodes because they come out every Tuesday and Thursday.
- 41:09SPEAKER_02: So it's at marbles with an S versus Dice, and it'll pull right up for you.
- 41:16SPEAKER_02: And you'll see the green character, the green little marble standing there.
- 41:20SPEAKER_02: And it's crazy because I didn't even explain the part about the marbles or what their problem is, but they they go they're going through something real big.
- 41:27SPEAKER_02: Well, tell us what the marbles are going through.
- 41:29SPEAKER_02: Well, the man the marbles come from a land called Plecca, and they they're they're separate from all the other board games because marbles are a little bit more violent than other board games.
- 41:40SPEAKER_02: They know about violence because they bump up against each other.
- 41:44SPEAKER_02: They crack and pop.
- 41:45SPEAKER_02: You know what I'm saying?
- 41:47SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so they so their board game was separated from popular play eons and eons ago, so they wouldn't, you know, cross paths with board games who didn't understand what they were doing and try to pick up on it.
- 42:00SPEAKER_02: So there was a black widow, um, a black widow marble, and this black widow marble was being punished because he kept coming up with wicked ideas and trying to do them, and they they were finna kick him out of the kingdom.
- 42:12SPEAKER_02: But he set off a bomb that it didn't explode.
- 42:17SPEAKER_02: It exploded, but it didn't, it wasn't an explosion issue, it was a smoke issue.
- 42:21SPEAKER_02: So when it exploded, it pushed this debris and smoke everywhere.
- 42:25SPEAKER_02: And if the smoke touched you, it took your life, it took your life mode.
- 42:29SPEAKER_02: So you know now you basically alive, but you just a ghost.
- 42:34unknown: Oh wow.
- 42:35SPEAKER_02: So every it hit every marble inside the kingdom except for one marble, and that's spacey marble, and he's a speedster marble.
- 42:43SPEAKER_02: So that's how he got away.
- 42:44SPEAKER_02: He used the speed, and he ended up getting away.
- 42:47SPEAKER_02: But his six friends that was with him didn't get away, so he carries them with him, and he can only bring them out when it's time to play.
- 42:56SPEAKER_02: Oh my goodness.
- 42:57SPEAKER_00: Y'all see what I'm talking about?
- 42:59SPEAKER_00: This this is why, this is why I have a team of brilliant people.
- 43:02SPEAKER_00: I don't like hanging with people, dealing with people, talking to people, spinning my arrow on people who don't have no intellect.
- 43:08SPEAKER_00: I don't.
- 43:08SPEAKER_00: I don't like small talk.
- 43:10SPEAKER_00: People would confuse it with being mean or being antisocial, but I'm like, I'm wasting up my head space talking about what you're doing.
- 43:17SPEAKER_00: WYD, what is that?
- 43:19SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 43:20SPEAKER_00: Like, yeah, that's that's not my thing.
- 43:22SPEAKER_00: People with intellect and with something to bring to the table and have something that that makes you dig a little deeper, those are the kind of people you want you want to keep around.
- 43:31SPEAKER_00: And even though that guy stepped on you, and I'm pretty sure when we did Invest Fest and all this other stuff, we talked about how that was just so non-beneficial for most black entrepreneurs and small businesses.
- 43:42SPEAKER_00: It really wasn't beneficial at all.
- 43:44SPEAKER_00: And people are starting to realize that now, you know, them guys that made their money, they done did their thing, they done they done sucked up all the air from everybody that really was reaching and thinking, oh, this is gonna be something that's gonna help me and build me.
- 43:57SPEAKER_00: They realized it was a bunch of fluffing streamers.
- 43:59SPEAKER_00: So now, entrepreneurs and artists and creators like yourself, they gotta hit the ground running.
- 44:06SPEAKER_00: We gotta hit the ground running, and you gotta just make it do what it does and focus on the things that you have going on because it's it's gonna go.
- 44:14SPEAKER_00: It's gonna go.
- 44:15SPEAKER_00: It's it's without a doubt, y'all.
- 44:16SPEAKER_00: Y'all know I like to give y'all the news you can use in less than an hour.
- 44:19SPEAKER_00: And we're gonna close out with the fact that G Brown, and I call him G all the time.
- 44:26SPEAKER_00: This is Gary with an E-R-R-Y, not an A R Y.
- 44:30SPEAKER_00: He's proof that a powerful imagination and determination and original vision can create something capable of reaching generations.
- 44:37SPEAKER_00: I'm talking forever, even long after he's gone.
- 44:40SPEAKER_00: He can pass on to his children and their children and your children and everybody else's children with 25 cartoon projects, multiple book series, and chips and dips board game with another board game coming out for you, football lovers.
- 44:53SPEAKER_00: He has built a more Than a catalog, y'all.
- 44:55SPEAKER_00: He's building a legacy.
- 44:56SPEAKER_00: So let's support this young black man, his legacy, keep it going, and again tell them where they can go and watch the series and the episodes that you have uploaded again.
- 45:06SPEAKER_02: You really want to go to YouTube and watch the series, it's at M A R B L E S.
- 45:16SPEAKER_02: V-S D I C E.
- 45:19SPEAKER_02: Marbles versus Dice.
- 45:22SPEAKER_02: And and if you go to YouTube and watch it, it's you're gonna get the full episodes.
- 45:26SPEAKER_02: You're gonna get everything.
- 45:27SPEAKER_02: If you go to Facebook, you're gonna get limited episodes.
- 45:30SPEAKER_02: If you go to Instagram, you're gonna get limited episodes until I get done loading them.
- 45:34SPEAKER_02: Because everything was loaded on um, even on TikTok.
- 45:38SPEAKER_02: Uh everything everything was loaded um slower.
- 45:41SPEAKER_02: I loaded everything slow, everything else slower because I'm trying to build the audience on my YouTube.
- 45:45SPEAKER_00: And then those other platforms do have a smaller um cachet.
- 45:49SPEAKER_00: Like you don't, you can't play a whole, I think David send it reels now, but for the most part, most of the stories, oh, that's like under 90 seconds, your little clips, because that's what it's meant for, and that's my biggest thing.
- 46:00SPEAKER_00: I do not want to get no more um platforms, but uh, you know, we're gonna pray about that.
- 46:04SPEAKER_00: But YouTube, I think right now is about the biggest going platform where you can literally do a whole show.
- 46:09SPEAKER_00: I mean, you we have the Facebook shows and all that, but it's just it's not the same algorithm.
- 46:14SPEAKER_00: So, um, and I'm definitely gonna drop these um links and the information into the description as well, so you'll be able to see it.
- 46:21SPEAKER_00: Y'all inbox me, email me um through fan mail if you have any questions or um you want to get the full handle, but it will be dropped in the description as well.
- 46:30SPEAKER_00: And I want to thank you again for sitting down and talking to you, girl, running our mouth like we do, because y'all know we're finna spend a whole nother two hours offset, like we always do.
- 46:40SPEAKER_00: Please.
- 46:41SPEAKER_00: I told somebody, I said I have so many of our um earlier clips and um episodes that we be climbing around and never made the air like the best stuff ever.
- 46:50SPEAKER_00: I just sit back and listen to it sometime just to hear Cammy's voice and just listen to us go back and forth.
- 46:56SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, this man is one of the few men, y'all, that can stand 10 toes down with me.
- 47:02SPEAKER_00: I never told him that, but I'm telling him now.
- 47:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I I kind of would I kind of would bow down and listen because you have such a plethora of knowledge to share.
- 47:11SPEAKER_00: And I I learned something from you every time we came in the same room.
- 47:14SPEAKER_00: If it was just how to do a storyboard or how to do sound or just how to not get on my phone when we're doing a show, just everything because y'all stayed on me by that.
- 47:25SPEAKER_00: Get out the phone, kid.
- 47:26SPEAKER_00: You know, pay attention.
- 47:27SPEAKER_00: Listen, I'm like, I know, I know what we're talking about, I know the I know what the episode is about, but we always had something to bring to the table for one another, and I thank you for that.
- 47:35SPEAKER_00: And I thank you for sitting down with me, and we definitely gonna make sure we push and we support y'all support this young man because we're gonna be saying we're young to you, 80.
- 47:45SPEAKER_00: Because you still gonna you're gonna be 80, still creating.
- 47:48SPEAKER_00: I already know you are.
- 47:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so you're gonna stay forever young just because your mind is gonna stay forever young.
- 47:53SPEAKER_02: And when the and when the cartoon, because of the listeners, start sharing and and it starts blowing.
- 47:58SPEAKER_02: I'm coming back again.
- 47:59SPEAKER_02: We're gonna do it again.
- 48:00SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, of course.
- 48:01SPEAKER_00: Of course.
- 48:02SPEAKER_00: We're gonna we're gonna be in Tyler Perry Studios.
- 48:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah, Tyler Perry, before you leave this country, like you say you're getting ready to go to Puerto Rico, which is still a part of America, but before you go to Puerto Rico, we're gonna be up over there.
- 48:16SPEAKER_00: We're gonna be up over there doing us some some marbles and chips and dips and whatever else you got a studio set up for us, find us some space because we coming.
- 48:25SPEAKER_00: You hear me?
- 48:25SPEAKER_00: You hear me?
- 48:26SPEAKER_00: We're coming.
- 48:26SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 48:27SPEAKER_00: Thank y'all for tuning in to Run Your Mouth Podcast with your girl Key and special guest host, as always, G.
- 48:33SPEAKER_00: Y'all follow him on YouTube.
- 48:36SPEAKER_00: Watch the watch the episodes, buy the game, get some apparel, let your kids do something else besides tidle and tattle and do busy work.
- 48:46SPEAKER_00: Y'all have a good one.
- 48:47SPEAKER_00: We out.
