- 0:00Speaker 1: Brought to you by uh, the Pride flag. It is
- 0:04Speaker 1: just a nice thing to do and nothing to be
- 0:06Speaker 1: scared of.
- 0:07Speaker 2: I told you, it's just waving that Pride flag. You're
- 0:11Speaker 2: turning me gay. I'm having urges.
- 0:16Speaker 3: It's just nice.
- 0:17Speaker 2: This is your opportunity to communicate with us, unless you're
- 0:21Speaker 2: afraid of Gina, waving the Pride flag might make you
- 0:24Speaker 2: gay on my phone.
- 0:28Speaker 3: Question us you can, you can argue with us.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Maybe maybe you do think the Pride flag is dangerous.
- 0:34Speaker 4: You could call about dangerous, dangerous to.
- 0:37Speaker 5: Hit you with it.
- 0:38Speaker 4: It's dangerous.
- 0:39Speaker 2: Yeah, I've noticed that across the street from my house,
- 0:43Speaker 2: one house directly across there they have Pride flags. Then
- 0:47Speaker 2: the house just up from them, up the street, just
- 0:50Speaker 2: one house up has an American flag.
- 0:53Speaker 5: So we're gonna, we're.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Gonna, so we're gonna, so we're gonna fix things at
- 1:00Speaker 2: our house. We're going to put out our Pride flags
- 1:02Speaker 2: and American flag on the on the same.
- 1:05Speaker 3: Because because guess what, that's fine.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Yeah, it's stop. You're making me a gay and patriotic. Yes,
- 1:12Speaker 2: you're turning me into a gay patriot. Question, that's what
- 1:15Speaker 2: neither of these are. This is not a political thing.
- 1:18Speaker 6: You're turning him into a self loathing gay patriot.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Did you see what the mayor of Midvale said about
- 1:25Speaker 1: the flag?
- 1:26Speaker 5: Oh? What now? The same?
- 1:29Speaker 7: Kay?
- 1:30Speaker 8: Uh?
- 1:31Speaker 3: And he he said he's going to keep flying.
- 1:34Speaker 1: The flags there because they just mean, hey, let's be
- 1:37Speaker 1: nice to each other.
- 1:38Speaker 5: Yes, it's there, we go, Line one. All right, it's Roman, Hi, Roman,
- 1:47Speaker 5: How are you Hi? What's up?
- 1:49Speaker 9: I'm doing well this morning?
- 1:50Speaker 10: How are you going?
- 1:51Speaker 5: Pretty good?
- 1:53Speaker 9: Just relaxing this morning.
- 1:54Speaker 5: Okay, what do you got for us?
- 1:58Speaker 6: Well?
- 1:58Speaker 9: I wanted to talk about education today and just your
- 2:00Speaker 9: guys thoughts are on the state of education here in
- 2:03Speaker 9: Utah and across the country kind of in general.
- 2:05Speaker 4: Well, uh, knowledge is good, that's my standing.
- 2:09Speaker 5: I mean, I don't know what you where you want
- 2:12Speaker 5: to go?
- 2:13Speaker 3: Tell us your thoughts and then maybe that'll help.
- 2:15Speaker 4: Us with what are you fishing for here?
- 2:18Speaker 9: Well, I'm a teacher, and something I've just really noticed
- 2:21Speaker 9: across a bunch of my students and kind of the
- 2:23Speaker 9: education community is this feeling of apathy.
- 2:29Speaker 4: Is an apathy or defeat? I'll bet it's defeat.
- 2:34Speaker 2: It's hard to work up enthusiasm sometimes, I think when
- 2:39Speaker 2: you feel that everything's kind of going south.
- 2:41Speaker 3: What what age of kids do you teach?
- 2:46Speaker 9: Middle schoolers?
- 2:48Speaker 1: And when you say apathy, they they just don't care
- 2:51Speaker 1: about doing their school work? What does that look like
- 2:54Speaker 1: in the classroom when you say apathy.
- 2:57Speaker 9: They care very little about I mean, I'm just maybe
- 3:00Speaker 9: I'm I'm a rather younger teacher, but I'm just comparing
- 3:03Speaker 9: myself to these students ten fifteen years ago, and they
- 3:07Speaker 9: just care a lot, and maybe in different ways that
- 3:09Speaker 9: I don't see, but it seems like they care a
- 3:11Speaker 9: little bit less about like themselves, their friends, their relationships,
- 3:14Speaker 9: they're learning, they're surrounding in generation.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Yeah, general apathy about everything. Yeah, you know, it's it's
- 3:25Speaker 2: it's hard for me to comment on that because I
- 3:27Speaker 2: don't hang around people of that age very much.
- 3:33Speaker 5: I don't know what I mean.
- 3:34Speaker 3: That makes me sad to hear that.
- 3:36Speaker 4: I don't think it's different for this generation than any generation.
- 3:39Speaker 5: Really. I mean, maybe it's your fault. Roman.
- 3:42Speaker 4: You know, we were all disaffected, we were all you know, melancholy.
- 3:47Speaker 5: Roman. Maybe you don't know how to motivate them.
- 3:51Speaker 1: Don't put this on a roll.
- 3:53Speaker 10: I'm just asking. I mean, it really could be.
- 3:57Speaker 5: We can we need to consider all possibilities, right.
- 3:59Speaker 1: I think it's do you remember our friend, our young
- 4:03Speaker 1: friend that was elected to the school board and I'm
- 4:06Speaker 1: having a hard time right.
- 4:09Speaker 3: Just this last election.
- 4:11Speaker 1: But part of what he ran on was he was
- 4:14Speaker 1: worried about kids not showing up at school and being
- 4:17Speaker 1: absent a lot, and wanting to help kids. So I
- 4:19Speaker 1: do think there is I don't think this is how
- 4:22Speaker 1: it's always been. I do feel like there's a little
- 4:24Speaker 1: bit of apathy, like Romans.
- 4:26Speaker 5: Saying, you know, there is a solution for it.
- 4:29Speaker 2: I was always excited to go to school all throughout
- 4:33Speaker 2: my school years, excited to go to school because my
- 4:36Speaker 2: home life was just so awful so I could get
- 4:39Speaker 2: out of the house. So if you can make kids
- 4:41Speaker 2: home lives awful.
- 4:43Speaker 5: You're not helping.
- 4:44Speaker 4: I'm not helping.
- 4:46Speaker 5: Well, it worked for me.
- 4:48Speaker 1: We got a text from teacher Emily who says it's
- 4:50Speaker 1: the same thing for high school. I've noticed teens not
- 4:53Speaker 1: caring about things. Uh, you know, it's this time of day,
- 4:58Speaker 1: kids are on their way to school. If you're a
- 5:00Speaker 1: uh a high school kid on your way to school
- 5:02Speaker 1: and listening to this, give us a call real quick
- 5:04Speaker 1: and let us know.
- 5:04Speaker 5: If you're I don't think. I don't I don't think
- 5:06Speaker 5: they care.
- 5:07Speaker 3: They might eight seven.
- 5:10Speaker 5: Apathetic.
- 5:12Speaker 9: It would make me so happy.
- 5:13Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, Jackson Jackson Lewis was the great kid.
- 5:18Speaker 2: Thanks, thanks Roman, thanks for and trying, you know, for
- 5:22Speaker 2: having me keep at it and keep trying to inspire.
- 5:25Speaker 3: I'm glad you care. Roman, I'm glad you care.
- 5:28Speaker 9: That makes a different appreciate you guys.
- 5:30Speaker 5: Thank you.
- 5:31Speaker 4: Let's go to Melody. Hello Melody, it's hell.
- 5:34Speaker 5: Yeah, what hello, Melody? What's up?
- 5:39Speaker 9: Oh?
- 5:40Speaker 4: Sorry, go ahead, No, you're fine?
- 5:42Speaker 11: Talk okay. So I work at WAKE, like the women's
- 5:48Speaker 11: and children nutritional program.
- 5:50Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 5:51Speaker 11: I had a client come in the other day. He
- 5:53Speaker 11: had a fool Trump get up the hat, sure and everything.
- 5:56Speaker 11: I thought it's really ironic, Yeah, that he's benefitting from
- 6:04Speaker 11: that we give out and he's worshiping a man that's
- 6:07Speaker 11: trying to take it away. I thought it was kind
- 6:09Speaker 11: of funny.
- 6:09Speaker 3: Why isn't he pulling himself up by his own bootstraps.
- 6:12Speaker 4: That's what I'm wondering, is what.
- 6:15Speaker 5: What did he come in for?
- 6:17Speaker 11: Oh, he's just he his wife had rented like a
- 6:21Speaker 11: breast pump and he can't drop it off. So he
- 6:23Speaker 11: came in with such like why he came in looking
- 6:27Speaker 11: at me straight in the eyes and really weird intimidating.
- 6:32Speaker 5: He was, I don't want to purpose, I don't want
- 6:34Speaker 5: to be here. Yeah yeah, yeah, all right, well thanks Melody,
- 6:38Speaker 5: all right, thanks.
- 6:40Speaker 4: Let's go to Annie.
- 6:41Speaker 5: Annie.
- 6:42Speaker 12: Yeah, Hi, Hi, can you hear me?
- 6:47Speaker 2: Hi?
- 6:48Speaker 8: I am a first grade school teacher. So I'm currently
- 6:50Speaker 8: driving but safely, all right.
- 6:53Speaker 7: I Carrie said.
- 6:54Speaker 8: Something about stirring, and I have to teach that book
- 6:58Speaker 8: that talks about stirring. Do you know what I'm talking about?
- 7:01Speaker 5: Which you mean like sexy stirrings?
- 7:05Speaker 8: Yeah, like you have. And so I had to call
- 7:08Speaker 8: in my male counterpart and I was like, I cannot
- 7:11Speaker 8: explain this that. I was so embarrassed. I'm forty five
- 7:13Speaker 8: years old. I teached fifth grade, and I was like,
- 7:15Speaker 8: I can't talk about stirrings. I was listening this morning.
- 7:20Speaker 8: I just like I got to call in.
- 7:22Speaker 2: It's so funny, Well you're talking about stirrings now, isn't
- 7:25Speaker 2: there a movie you could just put on.
- 7:28Speaker 5: A film strip?
- 7:29Speaker 8: I I have to teach maturation this year, and there's
- 7:33Speaker 8: like all sorts of things in this Senate or whatever.
- 7:37Speaker 4: Good luck I have to teach you.
- 7:38Speaker 5: You have to teach you to wash yourself and stuff
- 7:40Speaker 5: like that.
- 7:42Speaker 10: I just figure off it. That's all you gotta do.
- 7:45Speaker 4: Make sure they wash their legs and their necks.
- 7:47Speaker 2: Listen, I listen. I'm going to volunteer. When it's time
- 7:50Speaker 2: for the maturation talk, I'll come in and this. I'll
- 7:53Speaker 2: come in and teach it, help you teach it.
- 7:55Speaker 3: I think that's a really terrible idea.
- 7:58Speaker 4: Okay, thank Sandy.
- 8:00Speaker 8: Can I just can I just really quick say that
- 8:03Speaker 8: two of my family have been Boners of the Week. Wow,
- 8:09Speaker 8: oh no, not I quit working at their school. Carolyn
- 8:13Speaker 8: Scharette and Davy Sharette. They're my brother in law and
- 8:17Speaker 8: his mother, both the owners of the week. So I
- 8:20Speaker 8: feel like I deserve like, uh, I can't win it.
- 8:24Speaker 1: Gotta get it shirt, a Boner T shirt and stop stop,
- 8:27Speaker 1: buy and we'll get you.
- 8:28Speaker 4: Hang on the line and we'll get it. There's a
- 8:30Speaker 4: family connection, huh.
- 8:32Speaker 8: And I've also maaded Gina Mini Margarita's at Takoya twenty seven.
- 8:36Speaker 4: I'll see where you go. Thank you, all right, hang
- 8:38Speaker 4: on the line and we'll get that shirt to you.
- 8:40Speaker 5: Hold on.
- 8:40Speaker 4: Thank you for your booze contribution alone you deserve.
- 8:44Speaker 10: Hello.
- 8:44Speaker 4: Yeah, what all right, let's go to like Chazz is here,
- 8:49Speaker 4: Chas Hello?
- 8:51Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 8:51Speaker 5: What, good morning, my Chazz? What's up?
- 8:56Speaker 1: Oh?
- 8:56Speaker 10: No, I was just coming because, like you guys were
- 8:59Speaker 10: talking about it's today and the apathy, and honestly, like
- 9:04Speaker 10: I don't know what I would expect from a child
- 9:06Speaker 10: when we have these adults, as you know, the moral
- 9:10Speaker 10: example to follow.
- 9:11Speaker 1: It's hard to find something to get excited about your
- 9:14Speaker 1: role models.
- 9:15Speaker 10: Yeah, and then on top of that, they're going to
- 9:18Speaker 10: school wondering if they're gonna come home sometimes.
- 9:21Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, it's a genuine well that.
- 9:26Speaker 5: As thanks a lot.
- 9:29Speaker 10: On on the plus side, we have snow coming and
- 9:33Speaker 10: I work in snow Okay, no, good?
- 9:36Speaker 5: What do you do you do you build snow? Snowman?
- 9:38Speaker 5: Or what do you do?
- 9:40Speaker 10: I drive a plow truck actually, so I work on
- 9:43Speaker 10: snow removal. And I also on that note, wanted to
- 9:46Speaker 10: say thank you to y'all's weather report has really kept
- 9:48Speaker 10: us up today all week.
- 9:50Speaker 5: Well, terrific. For now.
- 9:53Speaker 3: I rely on the National Weather Service.
- 9:55Speaker 7: Is bad.
- 9:56Speaker 3: I hope they thank you no putting it out.
- 9:58Speaker 6: Pretty soon there will not be accurate weather because they're
- 10:01Speaker 6: shutting down the national weather.
- 10:02Speaker 1: So I'll just be looking out the window and hoping
- 10:04Speaker 1: I'm guessing right exactly.
- 10:06Speaker 10: Hey, just start training them with like crayons and my
- 10:09Speaker 10: paper and stuff.
- 10:10Speaker 3: Now, thanks, chess, draw.
- 10:12Speaker 10: A radar diagram. Do you guys have a wonderful Thank you?
- 10:16Speaker 4: All right, let's go to Well, it looks like Jen
- 10:20Speaker 4: is here, Jen?
- 10:21Speaker 7: Hello?
- 10:21Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 10:22Speaker 5: What Jen ahead?
- 10:25Speaker 12: Hey? Yeah, I was just going to comment on Roman's
- 10:28Speaker 12: comment about kids not caring about school. I've got two
- 10:32Speaker 12: daughters that are the same age their stepsisters, and one
- 10:36Speaker 12: of them absolutely love school. She totally cares. She's always
- 10:39Speaker 12: doing her stuff, she's a cheerleader. My other one absolutely
- 10:43Speaker 12: hate school, doesn't care, thinks that it's worthless. And it's
- 10:46Speaker 12: just so weird seeing the differences in kids. And it's
- 10:51Speaker 12: interesting because my my stepdaughter is the one who doesn't
- 10:54Speaker 12: like school, and it's her. Her mom kind of doesn't
- 10:58Speaker 12: really care either, and so it's part of them the kids. Yeah,
- 11:01Speaker 12: the kids don't care. But it's like I hate to
- 11:04Speaker 12: call parents, but I kind of look at the parents too.
- 11:07Speaker 2: I don't really agree with you really do have to
- 11:09Speaker 2: look very strongly at the parents and if if they
- 11:12Speaker 2: put a premium on education and they and they think,
- 11:18Speaker 2: you know, if they had a good experience.
- 11:19Speaker 4: With it, then the kids are more that they're helpful. Yeah, exactly,
- 11:23Speaker 4: all right, thanks for.
- 11:24Speaker 12: Telling me, and thanks to all the teachers, because then
- 11:26Speaker 12: they have.
- 11:27Speaker 6: A lot to deal with, more trouble on the way
- 11:30Speaker 6: for them. You Quinn is here, Yeah, everybody wants to
- 11:37Speaker 6: talk about the high school kids.
- 11:38Speaker 5: Yeah, Quinn, what what do you got.
- 11:41Speaker 7: Im?
- 11:42Speaker 13: I'm with my sister driving the high school. Who who
- 11:45Speaker 13: my mom is actually Molly Mormon taking us?
- 11:47Speaker 12: Oh?
- 11:48Speaker 13: You know that high schoolers?
- 11:50Speaker 3: Ye tell me. I want to hear from you.
- 11:54Speaker 13: So I feel like I really do care about high school.
- 11:57Speaker 7: There are some days where I just feel like, oh,
- 11:59Speaker 7: I just want to stay in.
- 12:00Speaker 13: Bed, and days oh, I really want to hang out
- 12:03Speaker 13: with my friends or like really have a good time socially.
- 12:07Speaker 9: M there are things I care.
- 12:10Speaker 13: About, like music and and my education. I feel like
- 12:13Speaker 13: my education is very important to me. And I've really
- 12:18Speaker 13: developed so so much personality here at my high school
- 12:24Speaker 13: that I couldn't develop anywhere else.
- 12:26Speaker 3: Oh, I'm glad you're having a good experience. What about
- 12:28Speaker 3: your sister?
- 12:31Speaker 7: Do you will say a thing?
- 12:32Speaker 13: Yeah?
- 12:33Speaker 14: I I'm in the band program in marching band, and
- 12:37Speaker 14: that is probably what I love the most about high school.
- 12:41Speaker 14: I mean the band program. It's like a fan like
- 12:43Speaker 14: I feel like I have like family, and marching band
- 12:46Speaker 14: a whole. The whole thing seems like a whole family.
- 12:49Speaker 14: Not just a community, but just family. And I really
- 12:51Speaker 14: loved everybody in band. And next year I'll be a senior,
- 12:53Speaker 14: and I'm so sad that i'll be. It's my It's
- 12:56Speaker 14: gonna be my last year marching this year.
- 12:58Speaker 5: Well, maybe you could be a band in college.
- 13:02Speaker 14: I could.
- 13:02Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 13:03Speaker 1: It is one of those things where if you were
- 13:05Speaker 1: involved in other things and you have lots of stuff
- 13:08Speaker 1: to look forward to when you go to school, it
- 13:10Speaker 1: definitely helps. And I banned is one of those things
- 13:13Speaker 1: though that I get nervous about them cutting because.
- 13:15Speaker 4: It's not exactly but they will cut it.
- 13:18Speaker 2: When I was in high school, I had what I
- 13:20Speaker 2: looked forward to was having a smoke out in the
- 13:23Speaker 2: parking lot.
- 13:27Speaker 3: All right, un you guys, Thank you guys for calling.
- 13:30Speaker 13: Have a good day, guys.
- 13:31Speaker 4: All right, we'll see if best.
- 13:32Speaker 5: For your mother.
- 13:33Speaker 8: Let's go.
- 13:33Speaker 4: Terry, Terry is here.
- 13:35Speaker 3: Hello, Yeah, what hello Terry?
- 13:38Speaker 12: Hello?
- 13:39Speaker 5: How are you great? What's up. What do you got
- 13:40Speaker 5: for it?
- 13:41Speaker 15: Fine? I'm just fine. I wanted to fish ship gears
- 13:47Speaker 15: a little bit. We're having a bud drive on Saint
- 13:50Speaker 15: Patrick's day at the Mountain America Expo from twelve to six.
- 13:57Speaker 5: Who is we?
- 13:58Speaker 10: I wanted?
- 13:59Speaker 15: That's Mountain America.
- 14:01Speaker 5: Okay, okay.
- 14:04Speaker 15: So we're doing it to, you know, get blood for
- 14:07Speaker 15: people and help save lives.
- 14:09Speaker 4: Are you sure you want to do it on Saint
- 14:11Speaker 4: Patrick's name. There's going to be a lot of alcohol
- 14:13Speaker 4: in that, that's my question.
- 14:15Speaker 3: You do it early, then you go drink after.
- 14:19Speaker 5: So how do you just show up? Can you just
- 14:21Speaker 5: show up and donate or what?
- 14:24Speaker 11: Well?
- 14:24Speaker 15: You have to go on the Blood Drive app and
- 14:27Speaker 15: and sign up so that they know you're coming. So
- 14:29Speaker 15: you do need to make an appointment. If you go
- 14:32Speaker 15: on the app, you can look for a Mountain America Expo.
- 14:36Speaker 11: And sign up.
- 14:37Speaker 15: It's this Monday.
- 14:38Speaker 5: What is so? What is the app?
- 14:42Speaker 15: It's the American Red Cross app?
- 14:45Speaker 10: All right?
- 14:46Speaker 15: Thank you all that you can look for bud Drive.
- 14:49Speaker 4: Thank you very much, Thank you much.
- 14:50Speaker 15: Donate save some life.
- 14:53Speaker 4: Thank you, Terry.
- 14:54Speaker 5: Come on, go to Eddie. What, oh dear Eddie, how
- 14:59Speaker 5: are you?
- 15:01Speaker 9: I'm gooda.
- 15:01Speaker 7: Good morning, lords and ladies.
- 15:03Speaker 5: Good morning. What do you got.
- 15:06Speaker 7: I'm calling with a message of hope and excitement. Okay,
- 15:09Speaker 7: I'm starting a vinyl record subscription. I called in a
- 15:12Speaker 7: little while to talk about it, just to promote local artists.
- 15:18Speaker 7: We're gonna release the first ones for sale on Kickstarter
- 15:21Speaker 7: starting tomorrow. So if you go to Kickstarter and just
- 15:23Speaker 7: look look up four AM, I'm sure you'll find it
- 15:26Speaker 7: for me on Instagram and you'll see it's the number
- 15:30Speaker 7: four and then AM and then vinyl like a vinyl record.
- 15:36Speaker 5: And who's on this record?
- 15:39Speaker 7: So the very first volume is going to be Daniel
- 15:42Speaker 7: Young and Timmy the Teeth. They're both a little bit
- 15:44Speaker 7: kind of country. Daniel Young's covering a John Prime song.
- 15:49Speaker 7: Timmy the Teeth bad Brad Wheeler plays with him a lot.
- 15:52Speaker 7: He's just amazing. All of their songs except for one,
- 15:57Speaker 7: are previously unreleased. If you want to listen to one,
- 16:00Speaker 7: you could listen to Moments like Peace by Daniel Young.
- 16:03Speaker 7: That's going to be on this one.
- 16:04Speaker 5: Okay, all right?
- 16:06Speaker 4: Uh and where where do you to be really fun?
