  [SPEAKER_00]: So downstairs, this is much later in the morning that I was expecting to be putting this show out on the way to, well, first off, my son slept till about 8 a.m.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Road closers was out and about taking him to daycare for about an hour today.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So much later, then we would have liked to get this out, but it is what it is.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Excited to be talking about some different lessons and kind of takeaways notes from the Super Bowl.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The Seahawks, they got the job done, a couple things to get out of the way early, you know.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I've never had a problem with Sam Darnold, but I've never thought that he was going to be a Super Bowl champion, but obviously proved me wrong.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think a big part of that is his maturation within this offense for one, but also just some of the incredible roster building and coaching that the Seahawks have had over the last couple

  [SPEAKER_00]: a credit to their entire organization, a credit to Sam Darnold, the defense, everybody.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But we're going to get into some lessons from the Super Bowl for the Jaguars right here, right now, really appreciate y'all tuning in.

  [SPEAKER_00]: We've been talking about the Jaguar as defensive line all off season.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Been talking about some of the best teams in the NFL, the final teams that were alive in the postseason, having really potent defensive lines, none better than the Seahawks and their ability to

  [SPEAKER_00]: obviously stop the run has been huge for them all year, which the jag wars had that as well, but it just felt like they were missing a couple pieces to really juice up the past rush and juice up their ability to kind of hit you in waves with that past rush rotation.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And that's what the big lesson is here today.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You gotta keep upgrading that defensive line.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I do think that the Jaguar has found something with Trayvon Walker rushing next to Josh Hines Allen a lot more down the stretch.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think that that was great.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think that they're going to still have a great run defense which is very important.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The players that they bring in, I think that they need to be able to have some balance to their game.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They need to be able to get out there on run downs.

  [SPEAKER_00]: and contribute there, but also juice up the past Russian and just juice up their ability to win with four.

  [SPEAKER_00]: How do you do that?

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think you definitely have to look at the pro level and find somebody that can help you there, whether that be a third eddressure, whether that be probably more importantly an interior defensive lineman of which there's a lot of guys we've talked about.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I consistently talk about John Franklin Myers as somebody

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think would make a lot of sense for the Jaguars in that regard, but he's not the only guy out there that would make sense.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Kaleis Campbell, some other older veterans, yeah, I know.

  [SPEAKER_00]: It's like almost a meme to talk about Kaleis Campbell back to Jacksonville now, but the way he's playing, it makes sense.

  [SPEAKER_00]: It's like a perfect fit for the Jaguars, and it's also one of those things where they wouldn't have to commit long-term to a player.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They wouldn't have to do a lot of ton of money, but, um,

  [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think the latest does make a lot of sense still, but I think you have to find a pro that can come in and just look at the sea ox, they've just constantly been adding to that room, whether it be the via the draft or free agency in their big one this year via free agency was de Marcus Lawrence and that move kind of was unheralded last year.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And by the way, the off season, it's officially here for everyone now.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And I think I've said March 11th was the start of the legal and him bring period.

  [SPEAKER_00]: It's actually March 9th.

  [SPEAKER_00]: March 11th is the start of actual free agency.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So we have exactly a month now until.

  [SPEAKER_00]: basically free agency starts in earnest with the legal tampering period.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So we're going to be there pretty quick.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm excited for that.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, I can't wait to see what the Jaguars James Lads don't end up doing.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But I think again, you have to make sure you prioritize that defensive line because if you can't impact the quarterback with four,

  [SPEAKER_00]: It's very problematic and it's ultimately going to lead in my opinion to your inability to win games down the stretch, you know, in January and in February.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So defensive line, I think that the Jack Wars would be wise, the way I'm looking at it.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I'm probably keeping Eric Armstead for this year because I think having him is going to be better than not having him unless you feel like if you move on from Eric Armstead, you can bring in multiple pros to replace him.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Like, I don't think you get rid of him, take a step backwards because if he's a guy that contributes at a high level still, like he's not in a lead player, but he puts up a lot of pressures, he's able to get sacks in big moments and he was also a pivotal part of the

  [SPEAKER_00]: uh... you want more though for sure i think getting somebody who can play knows tackle but also rush would be helpful uh... rush to pass or debond Hamilton just not providing much and that regard at all right now and he's in a lead run defender at knows tackle but he's not really generating a whole lot in the past restaurant department i think that that would help a lot if you can i mean like a guy like lee hunter would make sense out of uh... you know text attack rate but

  [SPEAKER_00]: Find a pro and address it in the draft on day two in my opinion as well.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I've been a big fan of Derek Moore.

  [SPEAKER_00]: We've been talking about him a lot out of Michigan.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think if you go get Derek Moore and you pair him with a veteran that's and you keep Eric Armstrong's dead, you're starting to talk about a defensive line that might have the ability and the talent to kind of resemble.

  [SPEAKER_00]: what you've seen with the Broncos, the Patriots even have a very good defensive front, obviously the Seahawks and the Rams.

  [SPEAKER_00]: That's what I'm thinking about.

  [SPEAKER_00]: That's my number one thing, number one takeaway here.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But I think offensive line as well, you've seen the Seahawks really develop that offensive line, continue to take swings and bring guys in and they've done a really good job overall with that.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They got Grey's Abel this past year and he's an awesome young player.

  [SPEAKER_00]: uh... the jags in my opinion even though they're planning on bringing back their entire tire starting five and a lot of the depth guys i think you still try to turn and and get things better and improve for the future probably mostly just via the draft this off season but i would like to see the jag wars continue to address that offensive line as well the lines of scrimmage are just so critical in the NFL uh... that that's what i want to see i think it's interesting

  [SPEAKER_00]: take the long way and took a while to really become a good NFL quarterback, which you saw him become a really good quarterback in the NFL last year.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I was highly critical of his play against the Jag war's last year, a game that won against the Jags, but he played horrifically what you saw in my opinion in Minnesota was complete lack of past protection for him down the stretch and that really haunted them in a few big games.

  [SPEAKER_00]: last year, Seattle, they're like, well, we're going to protect him.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And we're going to be able to run the ball.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And you know, shout out to Kenneth Walker, obviously, but I think that Trevor Lawrence is kind of a, it almost felt like people were trying to put Trevor Lawrence in this spot where he was a failure.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And obviously, he's never been a failure.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He's had

  [SPEAKER_00]: some trying moments and times and situations in Jacksonville, but you're seeing it come out on the other side of it for Trevor Lawrence with Liam Cohen being the head coach now.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And I think you're seeing the same thing with Sam Darnall now.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, they're going to have to replace their offensive coordinator.

  [SPEAKER_00]: That'll be a challenge to go find somebody who can do a similar job as Kubiak.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But

  [SPEAKER_00]: Um, there's, there's some connective tissue between, you know, the Trevor Lawrence situation in the Sam Donald situation, if Trevor Lawrence had not found, or if the Jaguars had not found some stability with the offensive coaching and coaching in general, could things have kind of devolved for Trevor the way they did for Sam and he's bouncing around the league and has to take the long way to, you know, finding a team in an organization that will believe in him.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Fortunately, that's not what happened with Trevor and he is in a good spot now

  [SPEAKER_00]: So you don't have to worry about that, but it's kind of like in a different reality, if the Jaguars had kept Trent Balkian who knows who their coach is and then you know.

  [SPEAKER_00]: It's kind of wild to think about, but it's cool to see that Trevor Lawrence MVP candidate 38 touchdowns, Sam Darnold, goes and gets himself a Super Bowl.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I didn't have to play great in this game and didn't have Jackson Smith and Jiggle for some of the game, all that stuff, but he did what he needed to do, and obviously the C-hawks run game

  [SPEAKER_00]: Kenneth Walker was excellent.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He said to be a free agent.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that they let him go.

  [SPEAKER_00]: That would be shocking in my opinion, but speaking of not letting it run in back go, don't let Travis see T and go, because he can have that type of game in the playoffs.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Love-based will suit him, lovely Clint Allen.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Like a lot of the running backs in the draft this year, keep Travis see T and just do it.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Like I think it's a low-cost,

  [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm not talking like bottom of barrel, but it's not gonna be that expensive to keep Travis CT in.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So you know, in my opinion, keep him, keep that running back room strong, keep it where it was, and moving forward, you know, growing in this offense.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And I think that you're gonna really enjoy the results with that offense if you keep Travis CT in.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And it's not to say you can't do it without him.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You can't take steps forward without him.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I don't believe that, but I do believe he gives you the best.

  [SPEAKER_00]: ability to have have the best running back room like you can draft somebody's sure but are you going to draft somebody that's as complete as Travis H.T.

  [SPEAKER_00]: in next year is basial to going to be as complete as Travis H.T.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I say you keep them keep all three of those guys together that you had this year.

  [SPEAKER_00]: That's what I would really like to see because again I think Travis H.T.

  [SPEAKER_00]: is more than capable of having that type of impact on a big playoff game the way you saw Kenneth Walker do it last night.

  [SPEAKER_00]: preparation is obviously critical.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think the Patriots' offense was in any way, shape, or form prepared for what the Seahawks threw at them, and, you know,

  [SPEAKER_00]: The offensive line was unprepared for the different blitz looks that they came with the seawks.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Offensive line just wasn't good enough to handle the foreman rush either.

  [SPEAKER_00]: and Drake may in the pocket when he did have time.

  [SPEAKER_00]: It's like he didn't know what to do.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He didn't know what he was looking at.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He didn't know where to go with the football.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I put that on the offensive coaching a lot, and I know Josh McDaniels is a well-respected offensive coach in this league, but they've got to have something better preparation-wise.

  [SPEAKER_00]: linking back to the Jaguars, I think that's such a positive for them that they're able to keep Grant Udinsky.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They have a hard-working smart group on both sides of the ball the Jaguars do.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So preparation is critical.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think the Jaguars have the guys to prepare Trevor to prepare the offense, to prepare the defense as well in these big moments.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So I think that they're absolutely a team that, you know, they probably should have been in the Super Bowl.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think that they might have been able to win.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You know, kind of walker does not pop off that way against the Jaguar's defense.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I don't believe that at all.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think he would.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And so you're giving yourself a chance.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So I think the Jaguar's probably would have or could have won this game if they made it.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And that's another lesson and just like, you can't take these moments for granted.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You have to get the job done.

  [SPEAKER_00]: One smaller note, just kind of crazy, you know, Jason Myers, he has been with the C Hawks for like almost 10 years former Jacksonville Jaguars kicker who, you know, had some good moments in Jacksonville Jaguars decided to, you know, part ways with him when he had a little bit of a rough stretch and hasn't been perfect in Seattle, but he's had some big years, some big moments scored a lot of points for them in the Super Bowl last night.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Don't let Camelot walk out that door, like ever.

  [SPEAKER_00]: It's kind of my thought there, Camelot's so talented.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And he's obviously more talented than Jason Myers is.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So I don't blame the Jaguars for letting Jason Myers go.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And then he becomes this established kicker elsewhere.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think the Jaguars overall have probably had better kicking statistics, even despite not having the same stability at the position since they let Jason Myers go.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But it's just kind of a crazy story.

  [SPEAKER_00]: and how many talented kickers the Jaguars have had come through this building and none more talented than Kim Lidore and now so don't let him walk out that door keep the faith in him as the Jaguars did this year which was awesome to see Liam Cohen supporting him.

  [SPEAKER_00]: from a pro-friagency standpoint, the decisions you make about whether you're letting a guy leave or you're keeping a guy, guys set to be free agents, roster cuts.

  [SPEAKER_00]: bringing in pro-free agents, the draft, they've got to nail this off season.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And if they do, they will absolutely be in position to be playing late in January and potentially into February.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And so that's kind of the note I'm gonna leave it off on here this morning is the Jack Wars if James Gladstone and company nail this off season, they could be playing next February.
