- 0:01Speaker 1: Charge another one down. It's Rob Thompson, fired by the
- 0:07Speaker 1: Phillies Don Mattingly. You might know the name he's taking
- 0:11Speaker 1: over interim manager. His son's the general manager, Preston Maddingly,
- 0:15Speaker 1: President Baseball opp Stave Dombrowski making the move. There's Jim Bowden,
- 0:21Speaker 1: who was first this morning to tell everyone it's the
- 0:23Speaker 1: first father son GM manager duo in history. Pretty cool,
- 0:26Speaker 1: he said, even if it's just holding it a place
- 0:28Speaker 1: for an eventual hire of Cora later this season or
- 0:30Speaker 1: in the offseason. That was sent. Then after that we
- 0:33Speaker 1: find out from Bob Nightingale that Korra turned down the
- 0:36Speaker 1: opportunity to match Pullies right now or now right now?
- 0:40Speaker 1: When you say right now, do you mean right now,
- 0:42Speaker 1: like in the next few weeks or until after the.
- 0:44Speaker 2: I think I think after the season, because I think
- 0:47Speaker 2: he wants to play it out after the season and
- 0:49Speaker 2: see what's out there. Why would he rush into another
- 0:52Speaker 2: something right now after he was fired like two days ago,
- 0:55Speaker 2: and he's.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Getting paid, and he does talk off and I know
- 0:57Speaker 1: everybody does, but like he gets some family time. He's
- 1:00Speaker 1: been working a lot for a long time.
- 1:01Speaker 2: No, I think it's an off season. I'll see where
- 1:03Speaker 2: I'm at, you I'll go from there. Why would he
- 1:05Speaker 2: just go from one team and jump right into another
- 1:07Speaker 2: team without knowing anything about it, not doing a ton
- 1:09Speaker 2: of background. Yes, he knows Dave Dombrowski, but he also
- 1:12Speaker 2: doesn't want to go from a last place team to
- 1:14Speaker 2: a last place team in the middle of the season,
- 1:17Speaker 2: right when he can wait and see how the off
- 1:18Speaker 2: season goes and then make a decision and talk to
- 1:21Speaker 2: other teams. It's smart. You get to talk to a
- 1:22Speaker 2: bunch of other teams too. You don't just have to
- 1:25Speaker 2: talk to one team.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Raises her price too when you're a free agent coveted manager.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Should so I don't know. I think it's okay that
- 1:35Speaker 2: he did this. And he likes to spend time with
- 1:36Speaker 2: his family. I mean, listen, you could kind of see
- 1:39Speaker 2: this happening as soon as they hired Don Mattingly. And
- 1:42Speaker 2: I hate to to say that about Don Mattingly, but
- 1:46Speaker 2: when Rob Thompson, when he saw they hired Don Mattingley
- 1:49Speaker 2: and his son is the GM and he has managerial
- 1:53Speaker 2: experience in a couple of different places, and then the
- 1:56Speaker 2: heat gets turned up. You could kind of see this
- 1:59Speaker 2: one coming because you knew that would be the logical choice,
- 2:02Speaker 2: and it is and sucks for Topper because I like
- 2:04Speaker 2: Topper a lot. But I don't know Kratz.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Do you remember when we talked one day. I think
- 2:11Speaker 1: AJ was out that day about who could get cut
- 2:14Speaker 1: fired early in a season, and we had a tough
- 2:17Speaker 1: time coming up with people. Well we've got two and
- 2:20Speaker 1: we're a month in.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I think AJ and I both put
- 2:24Speaker 2: zero down mostly because it's like, who do we think
- 2:27Speaker 2: is gonna get fired? We have to go to the
- 2:29Speaker 2: teams that are bad, and most of them are trying.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Then you go to the teams that are good and
- 2:34Speaker 2: you're like, well, if they suck, why did I pick
- 2:37Speaker 2: them to win the division? You know, I guess we
- 2:40Speaker 2: had settled on We had settled on Topper. If the
- 2:44Speaker 2: Philly sucked, well, top of your screen right now, if
- 2:47Speaker 2: you're watching nine and nineteen, that sucks. They are the
- 2:52Speaker 2: worst hitting team south of the New York Mets in
- 2:56Speaker 2: Major League Baseball. And like that's what got him fired.
- 3:00Speaker 2: That is, there's nothing else he did. Just like when
- 3:04Speaker 2: I worked with the Phillies in radio and Joe Girardi
- 3:07Speaker 2: was the manager and Topper was the bench coach. I
- 3:11Speaker 2: didn't think Joe Girardi did anything wrong. They fired him.
- 3:15Speaker 2: I not that I disagreed with it. The team was
- 3:18Speaker 2: not winning. The Phillies were not winning ballgames. And when
- 3:21Speaker 2: you put this much money in ownership, whether they listen
- 3:24Speaker 2: to fans or not, they want wins. John Middleton might
- 3:27Speaker 2: be the most outspoken owner, saying I want to win.
- 3:32Speaker 2: It's part of my legacy. And when you're not winning,
- 3:34Speaker 2: you have to make some type of move. They clearly
- 3:37Speaker 2: can't get rid of Kevin Long they or didn't want to,
- 3:40Speaker 2: and they clearly can't get rid of twenty six guys
- 3:43Speaker 2: on the ross or thirteen guys who aren't hitting on
- 3:45Speaker 2: the roster, and so you get rid of the manager.
- 3:49Speaker 2: It's nothing against Rob Thompson. It was just the next move.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Hold up. When Joe Girardi was like June third, twenty
- 3:58Speaker 1: twenty two, the team was fifty one games in. They
- 4:00Speaker 1: were twenty two and twenty nine. Yes, some people thought,
- 4:05Speaker 1: what's really going to change? Don't you think a lot
- 4:08Speaker 1: changed during that time period. If you're going to make
- 4:11Speaker 1: a change, it's like dating someone completely different. Joe Girardi
- 4:15Speaker 1: and Rob Thompson are very different. Personalities. Would you agree?
- 4:19Speaker 2: I would agree, I would agree. But you're saying, you're
- 4:23Speaker 2: saying what's what's I mean, you're bringing somebody that was
- 4:26Speaker 2: there already. Why did Rob Thompson like was Joe Girardi's
- 4:29Speaker 2: like heavy hand on the team? Just like is Rob
- 4:34Speaker 2: Thompson's relaxed mentality or heavy hand whatever the reason you're
- 4:39Speaker 2: firing him, is it any different than Don Mattingley's Because
- 4:42Speaker 2: if Don Mattinglee or Rob Thompson when he was a
- 4:45Speaker 2: bench coach, if the bench coach is doing his job,
- 4:47Speaker 2: you got to help your manager and call him out
- 4:48Speaker 2: and be like, hey, you know what, the guys need
- 4:51Speaker 2: a little kick in the butt. Give it to him,
- 4:52Speaker 2: like you're the one to give it to him, or hey,
- 4:54Speaker 2: you're being a little too tough on him. Give it
- 4:57Speaker 2: like it's not all of a sudden, like you just
- 4:59Speaker 2: flip it around, like who in the who in the dugout?
- 5:02Speaker 2: Because Nick castianis isn't there? We know Nick and Topper,
- 5:06Speaker 2: you know, kind of butted heads a little bit, But
- 5:08Speaker 2: who in the dugout have we heard any even like
- 5:11Speaker 2: a peep of any kind? That's like, so glad at Topper,
- 5:15Speaker 2: so glad Toppers out of there, or we need to
- 5:17Speaker 2: get Topper out of there, or we need a different voice.
- 5:19Speaker 2: That's why they brought Mattingly in was because they felt
- 5:22Speaker 2: like front office felt like they needed somebody with more
- 5:25Speaker 2: big league experience, so they brought Don Mattingly in. Maybe
- 5:30Speaker 2: that was Maybe that's the case, Maybe that's the problem.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Like if we're just trying to me, we're grasping at straws.
- 5:36Speaker 1: No, I mean, I do not have to say here,
- 5:38Speaker 1: and I want to bring Aj in for this debate.
- 5:41Speaker 1: I have no experience in this, but AJ give me
- 5:44Speaker 1: your thoughts here. If someone works for the team but
- 5:47Speaker 1: they're not the manager, do you feel like there could
- 5:50Speaker 1: be a massive change when the person gets more power,
- 5:52Speaker 1: Because if we're saying, oh, bench coach, what if someone's
- 5:55Speaker 1: just an advisor, like, oh, well, they're with the team too,
- 5:57Speaker 1: and they could talk to them.
- 5:58Speaker 2: I think bench though I've seen I went from Tom
- 6:00Speaker 2: Kelly to Ron Garden higher he was the third base coach.
- 6:02Speaker 2: It was a completely different animal. I mean, it wasn't
- 6:04Speaker 2: in the middle of the season Freddy Gonzalez to Brian
- 6:08Speaker 2: Snicker when when Freddy got fired. It was a different
- 6:10Speaker 2: feeling because they're different people and different people in charge.
- 6:13Speaker 2: Usually the bench coach and the manager go together, meaning
- 6:17Speaker 2: one gets fired the other one gets fired. Because they're
- 6:19Speaker 2: usually thickest thieves and they're normally like this, they're in
- 6:23Speaker 2: lock step together. Obviously this wasn't the case with Don
- 6:26Speaker 2: Mattingly and Rob Thompson. So do I think it can
- 6:29Speaker 2: be a different feel? Absolutely? Donnie Baseball is going to
- 6:31Speaker 2: have a different talk to the guys than Rob Thompson does,
- 6:34Speaker 2: a different demeanor with the guys, a different presence with
- 6:36Speaker 2: the guys. So yeah, do I think it can change, Yes,
- 6:39Speaker 2: but nothing's going to change if they don't start hitting.
- 6:42Speaker 2: And listen, it's not Kevin Long's fault. Kevin Long's doing
- 6:45Speaker 2: the same stuff. Kevin Long has had a history of hitting.
- 6:48Speaker 2: Everywhere he's gone, every team he's been on, he's had
- 6:50Speaker 2: guys that can hit. So, oh, fire Kevin Long. I
- 6:53Speaker 2: get all these Philly fans, text me fire Kevin for.
- 6:55Speaker 1: What Last year Philly's offense lokod And it's basically.
- 7:00Speaker 2: Is Boone's not hitting. Basically anyone under you know JT's
- 7:04Speaker 2: on the shelf, I mean Carbur and Swarf, Garrett Stubbs,
- 7:07Speaker 2: Garrett Stubbs is the leading hitter three thirty three, obviously,
- 7:10Speaker 2: but I mean look at that two nineteen when I
- 7:13Speaker 2: did the Phillies game a couple weeks ago, I said it,
- 7:15Speaker 2: once you got past Scherver, like the top four, you
- 7:18Speaker 2: were like, uh, okay, where's the offense going to come from?
- 7:21Speaker 2: Because starts not hitting right. I mean, Marshawn and Stubbs great,
- 7:24Speaker 2: but that's not J t Romuto in his prime right.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Alec Boham obviously has been off to an awful start.
- 7:30Speaker 2: It's just you know, this team is known for hitting
- 7:33Speaker 2: home runs, and granted the pitching ain't great either, so
- 7:35Speaker 2: it's kind of been the worst of both the worst
- 7:38Speaker 2: thing of both worlds to hit at the same time,
- 7:40Speaker 2: and then the manager takes the blame. We love our
- 7:43Speaker 2: doga Bella, who's really just a couch cushion in our house, and.
- 7:47Speaker 1: You would do anything for her. A quick message from

- 8:44Speaker 2: My thing anytime managers get fired, unless there's something like
- 8:48Speaker 2: I felt like Alex Kor's situation. It felt like something
- 8:52Speaker 2: finally came to a head and it was like a right,
- 8:55Speaker 2: like we're just we're out, like you're out of here
- 8:59Speaker 2: kind of thing when a manager gets fired, like when
- 9:02Speaker 2: Joe Girardi got fired. Obviously it worked out they got
- 9:05Speaker 2: two games away from winning a World Series, but like
- 9:09Speaker 2: when Topper is getting fired, here to me what I
- 9:12Speaker 2: said before about your bench coach, Like if I'm if
- 9:16Speaker 2: I'm if I'm AJ's bench coach, I am going to
- 9:20Speaker 2: make sure he doesn't make an ass out of himself
- 9:23Speaker 2: or create an environment where I can help him be
- 9:27Speaker 2: the best manager that he can be. But everybody thinks, oh,
- 9:30Speaker 2: we're going to bring in this new voice. It's unbelievable,
- 9:33Speaker 2: Like why didn't you help him before? It is my opinion,
- 9:36Speaker 2: and I'm not saying it's Maddingly's fault. I'm just saying
- 9:39Speaker 2: that it's not a it's not a quick magic pill,
- 9:43Speaker 2: Like you're not just gonna bring in Donnie Baseball and
- 9:46Speaker 2: all of a sudden, whoa Donnie Baseball helped help the
- 9:49Speaker 2: Blue Jays get to one game, one hit away from
- 9:53Speaker 2: winning the World Series last year, like Don Mattingly was
- 9:57Speaker 2: doing everything he could to help this team be as
- 9:59Speaker 2: good as they could in his role. And I knowing Topper,
- 10:03Speaker 2: I know he's not like don like, stop stop doing
- 10:07Speaker 2: that because you're undermining me, you're undercutting me. No, like
- 10:12Speaker 2: he's already been doing everything, and so I just I
- 10:16Speaker 2: have I always have such a I'm always have a
- 10:20Speaker 2: little trepidacious feeling because I'm like, don't just expect this
- 10:24Speaker 2: to just turn it around because it's turned it around
- 10:26Speaker 2: other times, or because he's had success as a manager
- 10:30Speaker 2: in different places. Like he was there, he saw what
- 10:33Speaker 2: was going on. If he had something that would just
- 10:36Speaker 2: flip at oneint eighty, he should have told Topper, hey, bro,
- 10:40Speaker 2: like you gotta flip this. These guys are pissed every
- 10:42Speaker 2: time you do this or that.
- 10:45Speaker 1: But then what did Topper do differently when he took over?
- 10:48Speaker 2: The team started hitting. The team started hitting like let's star.
- 10:57Speaker 2: There's a different voice. It's just from I heard, and
- 11:00Speaker 2: I know the guys that were on the team that
- 11:01Speaker 2: I know that are no longer there. Said that Joe
- 11:03Speaker 2: Girardi was so rigid, and that's Joe Girardi's life style.
- 11:07Speaker 2: Eats two eggs every morning with white toast and whatever
- 11:09Speaker 2: his famous breakfast is, and he does the same thing
- 11:12Speaker 2: every day. And the guys in that clubhouse wanted something
- 11:15Speaker 2: a little more loose, and Rob Thompson brought that. I
- 11:18Speaker 2: don't know what Don Manning he's gonna do. Compared to
- 11:19Speaker 2: Rob Thompson, I never played for Don Manning. It was
- 11:21Speaker 2: about a whisker away one time when he was the
- 11:25Speaker 2: manager in La. I had a long phone conversation. I
- 11:27Speaker 2: thought I was going to the Dodgers, but I never
- 11:28Speaker 2: got to that opportunity to play for him. Every day,
- 11:30Speaker 2: guys i've heard love playing for him. They love playing
- 11:33Speaker 2: for Rob Thompson too, So it's just a different voice.
- 11:36Speaker 2: And what's he gonna do different? I don't know. He's
- 11:38Speaker 2: not gonna Is he gonna construct the lineup different? Will
- 11:40Speaker 2: that matter? Well he pitched the different pictures. I mean
- 11:42Speaker 2: you still have Nola Wheeler, Sanchez Blizardo, and then whoever
- 11:46Speaker 2: the fifth painter, and then he still got the same
- 11:48Speaker 2: bullpend They're still gonna run him out the same way
- 11:50Speaker 2: to Ron's church. So you gotta have Keller in these
- 11:52Speaker 2: guys clothes. I don't know what's he gonna do different?
- 11:54Speaker 2: I will find out. But can he turn around? I mean,
- 11:57Speaker 2: asked Jack McKeon in two thousand and three with the Marlins. Yeah,
- 12:01Speaker 2: Dale Swain with the Brewers, Rob Thompson with the twenty two,
- 12:05Speaker 2: the twenty two Phillies, Like, there's plenty of examples.
- 12:10Speaker 1: Well, that's why the manager role matters.
- 12:12Speaker 2: Now, I believe it matters, but not to the point
- 12:17Speaker 2: where I think fans think we had to get rid
- 12:20Speaker 2: of them, like it's just it's something fun to yell.
- 12:22Speaker 2: It's like when everybody's booing at a stadium. I think
- 12:25Speaker 2: Aj even told the story. Dude looked at him, was like, hey,
- 12:29Speaker 2: do you know why they're brewing that guy? Like it's
- 12:32Speaker 2: it's something Well yeah, okay, yeah Topper, He's gone, yes,
- 12:36Speaker 2: screw that guy, and then it just builds and builds
- 12:39Speaker 2: and builds. Hey, throw me a ball, Yeah, throw me
- 12:42Speaker 2: a ball too, like like be outside, like think outside.
- 12:47Speaker 2: And that's what I would say with the Mets. The
- 12:49Speaker 2: Mets shouldn't fire Mendy. But we're not gonna get off
- 12:52Speaker 2: topic with that because but I guess as a as
- 12:55Speaker 2: a GM I would never be able to fire anybody.
- 12:58Speaker 2: Why Because I don't unless I see a moment, unless
- 13:03Speaker 2: I see something where he is butting heads and making
- 13:07Speaker 2: our team worse. Why is firing the option? Why aren't
- 13:12Speaker 2: we moving as an entire organization in the same direction.
- 13:15Speaker 2: Why is nobody else being held accountable in this situation?
- 13:20Speaker 2: Don browse, who who else is being accountable?
- 13:24Speaker 1: I'm saying, what do you want them to do? So
- 13:27Speaker 1: you would prefer that the team let go of the
- 13:30Speaker 1: president Baseball ops. Would you prefer that they cut or
- 13:34Speaker 1: trade players. You can't do that stuff. They might do
- 13:36Speaker 1: that stuff eventually. It's just from a timing perspective. Right
- 13:40Speaker 1: when a team starts out poorly, one of the only
- 13:43Speaker 1: options you have is a coaching change, and that's either
- 13:46Speaker 1: you have to make a hitting coach or a manager.
- 13:48Speaker 1: You're right, it doesn't mean you have to make it.
- 13:50Speaker 1: But I think for some owners, who's really they're the
- 13:53Speaker 1: ones who make the final call on everything like this.
- 13:56Speaker 1: They say, what's my line? Okay, we've hit the record
- 13:58Speaker 1: where this is my line and there's nothing else I
- 14:01Speaker 1: can do right now, and I need to do something.
- 14:03Speaker 1: Do you feel like at least sometimes Kratz, it can
- 14:06Speaker 1: send a message. A lot of guys love playing for
- 14:08Speaker 1: Rob Thompson for many years. He lets them do their thing.
- 14:11Speaker 1: He's very soft spoken. Now they show up and they're
- 14:13Speaker 1: like a shoot, he's gone. This feels more real. We
- 14:17Speaker 1: need to do something else, or next they might change
- 14:20Speaker 1: who's running the front office, or they might change half
- 14:23Speaker 1: the lineup. In the offseason, they might not run it
- 14:25Speaker 1: back anymore. Besides, the few stars that are locked up
- 14:28Speaker 1: for a long time. Doesn't this send like the first
- 14:30Speaker 1: ripple effect across the organization.
- 14:33Speaker 2: So the guys that could get cut might get cut,
- 14:36Speaker 2: and they're worried about getting cut. AJ's rarely went through
- 14:39Speaker 2: any times where he thought he was going to get
- 14:40Speaker 2: cut in his career, And I spent every day thinking
- 14:42Speaker 2: I was going to get cut. They're not cutting AJ
- 14:44Speaker 2: on a three or four year contract.
- 14:46Speaker 1: That's not what I'm saying. But I'm saying in the
- 14:49Speaker 1: I'm saying in the offseat. They've run it back for
- 14:51Speaker 1: like three years. So to me, this is like, hey,
- 14:55Speaker 1: figure it out. I just had to switch the manager,
- 14:57Speaker 1: even though a lot of you wanted him to stay.
- 14:59Speaker 1: I got to do something you've wanted me to run
- 15:01Speaker 1: the same team through over and over again. Guys are buddies. Now,
- 15:04Speaker 1: if this team misses the playoffs or has a very disappointing,
- 15:07Speaker 1: say first round exit, they might actually go through with it.
- 15:10Speaker 1: Try to trade one of the stars, get rid of
- 15:13Speaker 1: a lot of the role players. You could see a
- 15:14Speaker 1: lineup that only has two or three out of the
- 15:17Speaker 1: nine that returns next year. That's a real thing at
- 15:19Speaker 1: some point.
- 15:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I guess, I guess, but I don't know. I
- 15:26Speaker 2: mean it just it feels like everybody wants to run.
- 15:29Speaker 2: They've been talking about fire Rob Thompson for two weeks now,
- 15:33Speaker 2: two weeks twelve games ago. They're talking about it's just
- 15:37Speaker 2: not working, not good, terrible, and then it continued to
- 15:40Speaker 2: stay in that course. Okay, yep, time to fire them.
- 15:44Speaker 2: I bet they get back to five hundred before the
- 15:46Speaker 2: All Star break.
- 15:50Speaker 1: Hey something fun, well, not fun last night, but fun
- 15:54Speaker 1: all while it happened. Mason Miller had a really long
- 15:58Speaker 1: scoreless inning streak that tie back to last year, thirty
- 16:01Speaker 1: four and two thirds innings and it is now over
- 16:03Speaker 1: and he can begin a new streak. Got in some
- 16:05Speaker 1: trouble they do.
- 16:06Speaker 2: You see the hits they got off of him though
- 16:08Speaker 2: the line. By the way, that ball's foul. I don't
- 16:11Speaker 2: understand how the one ball is called fair? What do
- 16:14Speaker 2: you mean the ball was not? The ball was across
- 16:18Speaker 2: the illusion popsicle illusion. From that camera angle, it looks like, yes,
- 16:26Speaker 2: the ball is you know, it looks like yes right here. Oh,
- 16:29Speaker 2: it's definitely it's definitely foul. Like we can see we
- 16:33Speaker 2: can see a space from here. Oh it's over the line.
- 16:38Speaker 2: Still a fair ball?
- 16:40Speaker 1: They still score anyway?
- 16:41Speaker 2: No in that well, I mean that's a hit. Maybe
- 16:43Speaker 2: that bugles Falul punches that he punches him out and changes.
- 16:47Speaker 2: I mean, you can't say that a good point. I
- 16:49Speaker 2: mean the one run they scored was on the double
- 16:51Speaker 2: plated in turn. I mean it was like it wasn't
- 16:54Speaker 2: like they crushed maybe, I mean there was washing. I
- 16:58Speaker 2: mean he did give up some runs I mean which
- 17:00Speaker 2: he still got to save and they still won the game,
- 17:02Speaker 2: So it wasn't huge deal. But yeah, it sucks. I mean,
- 17:05Speaker 2: this guy' still pretty good. As the era went up
- 17:07Speaker 2: to one?
- 17:08Speaker 1: Is it that one he's slacking? Yeah, that cy Young
- 17:12Speaker 1: bid is on the line. He picked the right time
- 17:15Speaker 1: to give up a little bit of action.
- 17:17Speaker 2: The balls fell.
- 17:20Speaker 1: We can show this quickie update on Tommy Cainley. Loo's
- 17:24Speaker 1: like he can opt out of his deal on Friday
- 17:26Speaker 1: if not called up to the big So we might
- 17:28Speaker 1: have to check in with our buddy, so who gets
- 17:30Speaker 1: the call to the Red Sox bullpen.
- 17:32Speaker 2: We might have check in on a new photo too,
- 17:34Speaker 2: I mean, who wears Reebok cleats anymore? This photo must
- 17:37Speaker 2: have been from like nineteen ninety eight. It's retro tome.
- 17:42Speaker 2: I know, I know it's it's in a Woo socks.
- 17:46Speaker 2: But I didn't think. I mean, Tommy, that's why you're
- 17:47Speaker 2: not getting called up. You got cleats from Dick's Sporting Goods. Like,
- 17:51Speaker 2: let's mix in some like new cleats for you. Maybe
- 17:56Speaker 2: he likes them.
- 17:57Speaker 1: Yeah, maybe he likes them. Maybe they're comfortable.
- 18:00Speaker 2: One more person that has Rebox anywhere in the game
- 18:03Speaker 2: right now, I'm going to I'm good. That's actually saw
- 18:05Speaker 2: a picture of me as a rookie in Rebox.
- 18:08Speaker 1: There you go, a rookie? How long ago? Only how
- 18:12Speaker 1: many years ago they put it so only ninety eighth.
- 18:18Speaker 2: Back in the Daybox was throwing some cash around. I
- 18:21Speaker 2: remember minor leaguers were getting We're getting like five thousand
- 18:25Speaker 2: dollars to wear their cleats, and I was like, that
- 18:26Speaker 2: guy's not even good. Why are they paying him? And
- 18:28Speaker 2: then Rebox Now we'll go to We'll go to CrossFit.
- 18:32Speaker 2: So it's cool at the back. Tommy Cainley bringing it back.
- 18:35Speaker 1: Bringing it back and hopefully they call him up. I
- 18:39Speaker 1: got to look through. Yeah, I mean they have to
- 18:41Speaker 1: if they want him. Otherwise he gets to float around
- 18:43Speaker 1: and someone else will bring him up. I mean the
- 18:46Speaker 1: Angels to call him. There's plenty of teams that could
- 18:50Speaker 1: use another bullpen arm. Maybe the Ashros call him also
- 18:52Speaker 1: real quick on some other housekeeping, John Carlo Stanton was
- 18:55Speaker 1: I eled, I didn't didn't mention that earlier. But he's
- 18:58Speaker 1: got the calf supposed to be a low or grade.
- 19:00Speaker 1: But they're gonna be careful with him, as they always are.
- 19:03Speaker 1: And then what else, Oh, Carlos, Rodan's going to do
- 19:06Speaker 1: two more rehab starts, then he's going to pop back
- 19:08Speaker 1: up for the Yanks. We started Cole. Actually I heard
- 19:12Speaker 1: Cash Moro on any of the other day after he
- 19:13Speaker 1: said he said June. I heard him slipping a June.
- 19:17Speaker 1: So they're in no rush. I mean they're playing well.
- 19:20Speaker 1: They have plenty of starting pitching, which we're about to
- 19:22Speaker 1: talk about coming up in our next segment. Anyway, we're
- 19:24Speaker 1: going to talk about the latest and the greatest Cole's
- 19:27Speaker 1: pitching again on Wednesday. But I believe I heard Cash
- 19:30Speaker 1: say Rodan may make sense, and then Garrett Cole June.
- 19:34Speaker 1: So he was already at fifty five ish pitches according
- 19:37Speaker 1: to Mark bind the scenes. But it sounds like they're
- 19:40Speaker 1: still slow playing in a bit. We'll see. I'm sure
- 19:43Speaker 1: some of it is Hey Garrett, how are you feeling?
- 19:44Speaker 1: When do you want to pitch in the big leagues? Bet?
- 19:48Speaker 1: He can make No, he can make.
- 19:50Speaker 2: Someone go quick. I mean, don't you think he wants
- 19:53Speaker 2: to go quick? That's the top of the team to
- 19:55Speaker 2: be like Pump the Brakes settle down.
- 20:00Speaker 1: Buying glasses for a long period of time was not ideal.
- 20:04Speaker 1: Styles that looked like they were from the stone Age, overpriced, confusing.
- 20:09Speaker 1: Enter the solution warby Parker. And it's not just the
- 20:12Speaker 1: prescription glasses that I'm wearing that I love, krats. What
- 20:15Speaker 1: else can you get to.
- 20:17Speaker 2: One stop shop? Sunglasses, contacts, prescription glasses, everything you need
- 20:21Speaker 2: in one spot. Why would you go anywhere else?
- 20:24Speaker 1: Even eye exams? Maybe the best part of warby Parker.
- 20:27Speaker 1: For every pair they sell, they also give a pair
- 20:29Speaker 1: to someone in need. They have distributed over twenty million
- 20:32Speaker 1: pairs of glasses to people in need through It's by
- 20:34Speaker 1: a Pair, Give a Pair program. Their prescription glasses start
- 20:38Speaker 1: at ninety five dollars, so you can actually get quality
- 20:40Speaker 1: and stylish frames at an affordable price. It's the perfect
- 20:44Speaker 1: time to upgrade your glasses for spring. Buy one prescription
- 20:47Speaker 1: pair and get twenty percent off any additional prescription pairs

- 20:55Speaker 1: additional prescription pairs when you go to wa rby Parker
- 20:59Speaker 1: dot com slash fo u L. I'm excited about this.
- 21:08Speaker 1: I love talking prospects. We're going to hit number one
- 21:11Speaker 1: overall pick from a couple of years ago, Travis Bizana.
- 21:13Speaker 1: But before that, we'll get to Elmer Rodriguez. That was
- 21:16Speaker 1: the more fresh news that was announced right before the
- 21:18Speaker 1: show started, that he is going to pop up in
- 21:21Speaker 1: a Wednesday outing a start for the Yankees, going up
- 21:24Speaker 1: against Nathan y Valdi. We're gonna get some Baseball America
- 21:28Speaker 1: reports on both of these players during this segment two.
- 21:30Speaker 1: But let's start with this. Do you know how Elmer
- 21:33Speaker 1: Rodriguez was acquired.
- 21:35Speaker 2: He was traded from the Red Sox.
- 21:37Speaker 1: I know that has been a nice catcher for them,
- 21:40Speaker 1: but I will still say the way that elite pitching
- 21:44Speaker 1: is coveted could end up looking pretty tough for Boston
- 21:48Speaker 1: if he becomes a star. The Yankees in the Red
- 21:51Speaker 1: Sox don't trade with each other.
- 21:52Speaker 2: Yeah, but a nice job they got, listened. The Red
- 21:55Speaker 2: Sox needed a catcher. They got a catcher at Yeah, okay,
- 21:58Speaker 2: they and I think when when Rodriguez, when Elmer was
- 22:02Speaker 2: with the Red Sox, he had a hard time tow
- 22:03Speaker 2: get over the plate.
- 22:04Speaker 1: He did, but then he went to the Yankees and
- 22:07Speaker 1: he threw shade at them.
- 22:09Speaker 2: Okay, so we get mad all the time. The teams
- 22:11Speaker 2: won't trade their prospects for legitimate big leaguers, I agree,
- 22:14Speaker 2: And then when they do, one guy might work out.
- 22:16Speaker 2: He hasn't even worked out yet, he's just getting called up.
- 22:19Speaker 2: Then all of a sudden, we're like, oh, why would
- 22:22Speaker 2: they make this move?
- 22:23Speaker 1: Oh no, it doesn't matter. I agree with your sound reay,
- 22:27Speaker 1: but you know that when there's Yankees Red Sox matchups
- 22:31Speaker 1: and if Elmer Rodriguez becomes a stud, Boston Ben's are
- 22:35Speaker 1: gonna be pissed. They're gonna be like, what the heck?
- 22:37Speaker 1: Who's this guy? How Come when we made a trade
- 22:39Speaker 1: and this guy was considered mid level prospect A he
- 22:42Speaker 1: didn't develop like we thought he wouldn't be you should
- 22:44Speaker 1: have traded somebody else to the damn Yankees. I'm just
- 22:47Speaker 1: pointing out you are going to hear that if he
- 22:49Speaker 1: ends up being a stud Crats and he wasn't completely
- 22:51Speaker 1: silent last year. In August, in an interview, he gave
- 22:55Speaker 1: credit to the Yankees organization because he said, they're letting
- 22:57Speaker 1: me pitch and letting me execute. The Yankees made some
- 23:01Speaker 1: changes with him on armslot and apparently just gave him
- 23:05Speaker 1: a little bit more control. Also, like in terms of
- 23:07Speaker 1: his development, helped him lean more into the East West style.
- 23:11Speaker 1: I think either you know, a lot less on the
- 23:13Speaker 1: four seam, a lot more on the sinker sweeper type.
- 23:15Speaker 1: So he became a different guy. That's part of why
- 23:17Speaker 1: he is who he is right now. But he he
- 23:20Speaker 1: snuck something in there in a quote.
- 23:24Speaker 2: I mean, he got an opportunity that he didn't feel
- 23:26Speaker 2: like he was getting in Boston, or maybe Boston had ideas.
- 23:30Speaker 2: I mean we kind of heard this with Kyle Harrison.
- 23:33Speaker 2: Kyle Harrison's kind of done pretty decent since he's gone
- 23:36Speaker 2: over to Milwaukee. And but every organization has their thing.
- 23:41Speaker 2: You can't just all of a sudden, halfway through a
- 23:43Speaker 2: year in a minor league system, go oh, we got
- 23:45Speaker 2: to change our thing. Like they got to buy into
- 23:48Speaker 2: it and you got to see how it plays out. So,
- 23:51Speaker 2: you know what, he didn't like what they the decisions
- 23:54Speaker 2: or the changes or whatever it was, it was different. Ultimately,
- 23:58Speaker 2: the reality is, as a player, if you blame the coaches,
- 24:03Speaker 2: you're soft because you have to go out there. Everybody's
- 24:07Speaker 2: getting coached, overcoached, under coached, whatever the coaching is. You
- 24:13Speaker 2: have to go out there compete. If they're asking you
- 24:15Speaker 2: to make a change, you either have to do it
- 24:19Speaker 2: and accept the results, don't do it. Accept the results
- 24:22Speaker 2: and accept the accept the criticism from that team for
- 24:27Speaker 2: not making the change because it's your career. So was
- 24:30Speaker 2: it the Red Sox fault? I mean, maybe they were
- 24:33Speaker 2: giving them bad information, but ultimately it's his ra. I
- 24:37Speaker 2: can go back on Baseball Reference and look at all
- 24:39Speaker 2: of his ras, all of his walk totals during that
- 24:42Speaker 2: time when he was walking half the bat, you know,
- 24:46Speaker 2: one batter every other inning. Like, no matter what the
- 24:49Speaker 2: changes are, you have to take ownership for it yourself.
- 24:53Speaker 1: Right. He's also young at the time. He wouldn't be
- 24:56Speaker 1: the first guy that figures out some control. Even now,
- 24:59Speaker 1: he's only twenty two years old. So let's get a
- 25:03Speaker 1: report on him. JJ Cooper to give us more on
- 25:06Speaker 1: Elmer Rodriguez.
- 25:08Speaker 3: Elma Rodriguez was a breakout prospect in twenty twenty five
- 25:12Speaker 3: as he kind of emerged after being traded from the
- 25:15Speaker 3: Red Sox to the Yankees. He emerged as one of
- 25:17Speaker 3: the Yankees' best pitching prospects. The start of the twenty
- 25:20Speaker 3: twenty six season has only increased his stock. He's been
- 25:24Speaker 3: dominant in Triple A four starts. He's yet to allow
- 25:27Speaker 3: a more than one run in any of those starts.
- 25:29Speaker 3: Ninety five ninety six minor fastball, para fastballs, fastball for Seymran.
- 25:34Speaker 3: A sinker, but it's the pitch mix. He has a slider,
- 25:37Speaker 3: he has a cutter, he has a change up, He
- 25:40Speaker 3: keeps hitters off balance, he throws enough strikes. And by
- 25:43Speaker 3: the way, he's also used to the ABS system now,
- 25:46Speaker 3: so when he comes up to the big leagues he's
- 25:47Speaker 3: already seen it in Triple A. He looks like he's
- 25:50Speaker 3: pretty close to being ready to help the Yankees for
- 25:53Speaker 3: the rest of this season and for the long term.
- 25:56Speaker 1: Good stuff from JJ. Now let's move to the other
- 25:58Speaker 1: big debut this week, former number one overall pick Travis
- 26:02Speaker 1: Bazana getting called up by the Cleveland Guardians to hopefully
- 26:06Speaker 1: be the second baseman of the future for a long time,
- 26:09Speaker 1: and we've seen a lot of rookie success so far
- 26:12Speaker 1: this season. Could this be the next big guy for them?
- 26:14Speaker 1: Also keep in mind at that time, Cleveland had a
- 26:18Speaker 1: two percent chance of landing the number one overall pick
- 26:22Speaker 1: in the lottery that year. That is a true gift
- 26:26Speaker 1: of the lottery that did not exist prior to a
- 26:30Speaker 1: few years ago. In the last CBA, I have another
- 26:32Speaker 1: report and then we'll get your thoughts on Bizana. Let's
- 26:35Speaker 1: get more from JJ Cooper on what to expect from Travis.
- 26:40Speaker 3: The Cleveland Guardians are right in the mix in the
- 26:43Speaker 3: al Central race, as we expected, but when you look
- 26:46Speaker 3: at their lineup, they could use some help. And so
- 26:48Speaker 3: Travis Bison is on the way the number one pick
- 26:51Speaker 3: in the twenty twenty four MLB draft. He's always Bison
- 26:55Speaker 3: has always been able to hit. He showed that in Australia,
- 26:58Speaker 3: he showed that in college, show that in the minor leagues.
- 27:01Speaker 3: There's on base ability. Here, there's hitting ability. There is
- 27:03Speaker 3: some pop as well. He should be able to provide
- 27:06Speaker 3: a little bit of a boost to the Guardian's power
- 27:09Speaker 3: production as well. Not a great defender at second base,
- 27:12Speaker 3: but perfectly acceptable. And when you look at this Guardians lineup.
- 27:15Speaker 3: It could really use the help. Cleveland is bottom third
- 27:19Speaker 3: in major leagues in run scored per game, in batting average,
- 27:22Speaker 3: in on basse, in slugging. Bizonic can help that, especially
- 27:26Speaker 3: when you consider that Wambrido, who they brought up to
- 27:28Speaker 3: play second base, hasn't really been able to handle the role. Really,
- 27:32Speaker 3: the only production they've gotten at second base has been
- 27:35Speaker 3: a few times that utility man Daniel Stemen's played there.
- 27:38Speaker 3: Bizana should step in and be a regular from day
- 27:41Speaker 3: one and adds to what already looks like an exceptional
- 27:44Speaker 3: top of the twenty twenty four MLB draft class. We
- 27:47Speaker 3: already have six current MLB regulars from the top ten
- 27:50Speaker 3: picks in that class, and here we are, it's less
- 27:53Speaker 3: than two years since draft day.
- 27:55Speaker 1: Oh yeah, so many from that class already up in
- 27:57Speaker 1: the show and contributing. So this help Cleveland a lot.
- 28:00Speaker 1: We're always I can't do anything but the latter who
- 28:04Speaker 1: power has cooled off, but looks like he's going to
- 28:06Speaker 1: be a legit big leaguer. And then here's another.
- 28:08Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean they have I mean, there's anybody pair
- 28:11Speaker 2: with Jose Jose Ramirez is gonna be good, but Bazanas
- 28:13Speaker 2: should help. They're doing it with their pitching, as they
- 28:16Speaker 2: always have said, and they can find any sort of offense.
- 28:18Speaker 2: I mean, Kwan the Lotter, you know, Banzanna, Naylor, Ramirez,
- 28:25Speaker 2: Manzardo Rochio. The lineup isn't full of huge names other
- 28:30Speaker 2: than Jose, so anytime they can get some help. And
- 28:33Speaker 2: if he can bring anything to this lineup, because Brito
- 28:36Speaker 2: wasn't hitting at all, it's gonna be a huge help
- 28:38Speaker 2: for them because we know they if they give up
- 28:40Speaker 2: like they if they can score four runs a game,
- 28:43Speaker 2: they're gonna win most games. The way they're pitching is
- 28:45Speaker 2: so I mean again, if you look at their batting average,
- 28:48Speaker 2: Austin Hedges his second I mean Daniel Siemens. Dad wants
- 28:51Speaker 2: to point out that he's three fourteen by the way, also,
- 28:55Speaker 2: but you know, uh just I mean the home runs
- 28:59Speaker 2: at their home runs they don't have. They don't hit
- 29:01Speaker 2: a ton of home runs. So yeah, they're just looking
- 29:04Speaker 2: for anything. And when we talk to the people in
- 29:08Speaker 2: good Yeah, good Year, Yeah, good Year yeah, and Spring Train,
- 29:11Speaker 2: they said, we have all these position players ready that
- 29:13Speaker 2: are going to be coming. And we're starting to see
- 29:15Speaker 2: him slowly trickle up to the big leagues and that
- 29:17Speaker 2: that's a good thing for the organization. I mean, should
- 29:21Speaker 2: the Guardians have selected Nick Kurtz, they would have had
- 29:25Speaker 2: Rookie of the year power at first base. Should the
- 29:28Speaker 2: Guardians have taken Chase Burns, because then they would have
- 29:31Speaker 2: a pit like obviously, Travis Bozana's hit profile is there.
- 29:38Speaker 2: Is he going to make a blip in this big
- 29:40Speaker 2: league roster, big league lineup radar? His you know, he
- 29:45Speaker 2: controls the strike zone really well, even back into college.
- 29:49Speaker 2: Will his power come? Because if his power doesn't come,
- 29:52Speaker 2: he's just gonna be another piece in this Guardian's lineup
- 29:55Speaker 2: that doesn't hit for a lot of power. If he does,
- 29:59Speaker 2: then all of a sudden, you have six years of
- 30:02Speaker 2: control of a player at second base that can maybe
- 30:06Speaker 2: pop your twenty five home runs. But that's that's it's
- 30:10Speaker 2: a long way away. You have to you have to
- 30:12Speaker 2: let the season play out and hopefully he gets you know,
- 30:15Speaker 2: he hits the ground running right away.
- 30:17Speaker 1: One other part, so Zach Mizell from The Athletic wrote
- 30:22Speaker 1: about him and said two things. I Mean, the articled
- 30:25Speaker 1: a lot about how he's a baseball junkie, but some
- 30:27Speaker 1: of the specifics he said. When he was initially assigned
- 30:31Speaker 1: to a ball in twenty twenty four, he requested scouting
- 30:33Speaker 1: reports from the player development staff, not just on upcoming opponents,
- 30:37Speaker 1: but on his own teammates in case he spotted anything
- 30:39Speaker 1: he could assist with once he got to know them,
- 30:42Speaker 1: and also the team's VP of player development, Stephen Astare
- 30:47Speaker 1: at the Cleveland Organization, said he thinks the Bizano is
- 30:50Speaker 1: the organization's first prospect ever to schedule a meeting with
- 30:53Speaker 1: the research and development department. He asked about internal defensive
- 30:57Speaker 1: metrics and how the organization evaluates hit swing decisions. Do
- 31:01Speaker 1: you guys like that or is it if it's good
- 31:04Speaker 1: for him, if he's into it.
- 31:08Speaker 2: It could be a little bit too much, like hey,
- 31:10Speaker 2: like let's here's here's our system, Like maybe learn our
- 31:14Speaker 2: system before. But like if he's a baseball junkie, like
- 31:18Speaker 2: it says, some people might look at him as a
- 31:20Speaker 2: try hard in that sense. But in my opinion, the
- 31:23Speaker 2: dude sounds like he wants to get after it. It
- 31:26Speaker 2: might sound a little corny, but the dudes who want
- 31:30Speaker 2: it more like are going to get the most out
- 31:33Speaker 2: of their ability. Doesn't mean they're gonna be better than
- 31:36Speaker 2: other people who have more talent. It just means they'll
- 31:38Speaker 2: get the most out of it, and that's good for
- 31:40Speaker 2: some people. Other people are like, please, don't show me
- 31:42Speaker 2: any of that stuff. I'm just gonna go out and
- 31:44Speaker 2: hit the ball. Maybe it's smart because they're just learning
- 31:48Speaker 2: what they're looking for to get them called up. If
- 31:50Speaker 2: I would have had that, I would have been like, Hey,
- 31:51Speaker 2: what do I need to do to get called up? Guys? Okay, boom,
- 31:53Speaker 2: I'll do that. You would have asked, right, oh, yeah,
- 31:56Speaker 2: I need to do guys. Okay, thanks, I'll do that.
- 31:58Speaker 1: We always give credit to Bregman for helping all of
- 32:00Speaker 1: his teammates. I mean, one of the ways to do
- 32:02Speaker 1: that is to get scatting reports.
- 32:03Speaker 2: If you're an analytically driven organization. I'm a player in
- 32:05Speaker 2: that organization, and they say, hey you x Y and Z.
- 32:08Speaker 2: Gu justs what I'm going to work on X Y
- 32:10Speaker 2: and Z.
- 32:10Speaker 1: Yeah. Right. That's why the miners would be like, Okay,
- 32:13Speaker 1: give me everything that you think is good.
- 32:14Speaker 2: We didn't have war when I played, so no one
- 32:16Speaker 2: was worried about their war. But if someone could a
- 32:18Speaker 2: tone of me and said, hey, you get called up.
- 32:20Speaker 2: You have this war, you do this better. Guess what
- 32:22Speaker 2: I would have done every day. I would have fixed
- 32:23Speaker 2: whatever they said to help my war.
- 32:25Speaker 1: Yeah. Hey, Seakeek is the number one rated ticketing app
- 32:30Speaker 1: with over thirty five million downloads, and it's MLB's official
- 32:33Speaker 1: ticket marketplace. We'll do what we do, look at some matchups.
- 32:37Speaker 1: I just mentioned this to Ken Aj Rangers Yankee series
- 32:40Speaker 1: looks fun now these next couple of games, I'd be
- 32:42Speaker 1: looking Onekeek for a ticket.
- 32:44Speaker 2: I'd also like to see the Red Sox Blue Jays.
- 32:48Speaker 2: Your Savage is making his season. Yeah you, and it's
- 32:50Speaker 2: totally versus uh you Savage, I believe. So that's that's another.
- 32:54Speaker 2: It's another good one. Let's not forget in the old
- 32:56Speaker 2: South Side of Chicago, Scottie, Yeah, Soriano and the guy
- 33:00Speaker 2: we had on yesterday, Davis Martin. That's a sneaky good
- 33:02Speaker 2: matchup too.
- 33:03Speaker 1: And Murk Kami is putting on a show. Every other
- 33:05Speaker 1: rookie of the year.
- 33:06Speaker 2: Mr Kammy all laughed at me that dude has twelve
- 33:09Speaker 2: extra base hits and they all go out of the park.
- 33:11Speaker 1: I would never laugh at you for that. My things
- 33:13Speaker 1: laughed in me when I said it, No, I felt
- 33:15Speaker 1: like the Japanese position players were being undervalued. And I
- 33:18Speaker 1: still think Okamoda is gonna have a great year. He's
- 33:20Speaker 1: picked it up again lately, and murk Kami might have
- 33:23Speaker 1: what what's the over under right now? Just I mean
- 33:25Speaker 1: a pace I think for sixty seven sixty ex.
- 33:28Speaker 2: What's that number though? What's that number? If he hits
- 33:31Speaker 2: two five, is it forty? Is it forty five? What
- 33:36Speaker 2: is it?
- 33:37Speaker 1: Well? What you're saying for him to win?
- 33:38Speaker 2: He hits forty or forty five, he'll win the Rookie
- 33:40Speaker 2: the Year. Yeah, and also forty number, I don't think
- 33:43Speaker 2: h's forty. That's I mean, you can almost lock it up.
- 33:46Speaker 1: I'll say this as many front office people say this. Sorry,
- 33:48Speaker 1: I don't really care about Murkami's batting average. He's getting
- 33:51Speaker 1: on base, he spits it, pitches, he's got good plate approach.
- 33:55Speaker 2: Right now, he just hits a homer, strikes out or walks.
- 33:57Speaker 2: He's pretty true up.
- 33:58Speaker 1: He is the classic twenty ten player. Yeah, three true albums.
- 34:02Speaker 2: I mean, I'm I'm just saying because if McGonagall hits
- 34:06Speaker 2: three hundred has a nine to fifty oh ps, does
- 34:10Speaker 2: he does he take it from them.
- 34:12Speaker 1: It's going to be a good battle with him. McGonagall
- 34:14Speaker 1: has been.
- 34:15Speaker 2: A star and totally different players he's.
- 34:18Speaker 1: Got, He's a shortstop, he's got you know how voters
- 34:22Speaker 1: are wins above replacements high.
- 34:24Speaker 2: By the way I sent you guys today, I was like,
- 34:28Speaker 2: are you kidding that one? That was Sriano? Who are
- 34:31Speaker 2: the three? Oh? Sriano, Coco Crisp, Thenard Span Span, Sorry,
- 34:37Speaker 2: Soriano was better than those other two guys. I'm sorry
- 34:39Speaker 2: that way better.
- 34:40Speaker 1: By the way, maybe tomorrow a code for you Territory
- 34:43Speaker 1: ten ten percent off your next set of tickets at

- 34:54Speaker 1: you to seek. Can go get yourself a seat to
- 34:57Speaker 1: one of those Rangers Yankees matchups if you're in the area. Otherwise,
- 35:00Speaker 1: some of the other ones that AJ mentioned are great too.
- 35:02Speaker 1: Rolling through some other happenings from Monday night, the Pirates
- 35:07Speaker 1: pitched six and two thirds perfect innings. Fast forward to
- 35:11Speaker 1: the ninth. Then the Santana who had been money. I
- 35:14Speaker 1: think his dra was below one on the season. Did
- 35:17Speaker 1: not have it? Do you do you try and pull
- 35:20Speaker 1: that earlier if you don't see it, Like how.
- 35:23Speaker 2: Quick those two back to back home runs that happened.
- 35:25Speaker 1: But then then after that and.
- 35:27Speaker 2: Then after that, but then it was like it already happened,
- 35:30Speaker 2: so you're hoping he could get out of the inning,
- 35:32Speaker 2: and they eventually did take him out when they scored
- 35:34Speaker 2: the third and the fourth run.
- 35:35Speaker 1: So it was so Homer, Homer walk, infield hit, okay,
- 35:42Speaker 1: walk that loaded the.
- 35:44Speaker 2: Bit that happens. That happened fast.
- 35:46Speaker 1: And then first pitch to Jose Formen was a two
- 35:49Speaker 1: run double the left field corner. So boom, all that
- 35:51Speaker 1: stuff that happened fast.
- 35:52Speaker 2: I was watching that game. It was like boom boom, boom, boom,
- 35:54Speaker 2: boom boom. And ship carry, by the way, was having
- 35:56Speaker 2: an absolute meltdown on the television screen streaming, Oh my goodness,
- 36:02Speaker 2: it was Weather holds Homer, Oh, and you gotta Pittsburg's
- 36:07Speaker 2: boat JJ weatherhole first, and then then you're getting like
- 36:11Speaker 2: an infield hit and he's like, these guys don't quit.
- 36:15Speaker 2: They have so much fire it's unbound lavable. It was
- 36:18Speaker 2: like chipless chip chips. The first Yeah, she was like
- 36:23Speaker 2: eight innings. Shep was like, we're getting perfect game, and
- 36:26Speaker 2: all of a sudden.
- 36:30Speaker 1: It is exciting. That's kind of like how you go
- 36:32Speaker 1: into the Cardinal season being like, well, this is gonna suck,
- 36:35Speaker 1: and you're.
- 36:35Speaker 2: Like, oh, this is kind of fun for now.
- 36:37Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what they're looking at.
- 36:38Speaker 2: Great Allie. I saw Ollie give a little something to
- 36:41Speaker 2: somebody in the crowd. I don't know who was after
- 36:43Speaker 2: the game behind the dug out. He was like, oh,
- 36:48Speaker 2: I think it was JJ's parents who was saying good job.
- 36:50Speaker 1: Probably, yeah, he had a good JJ's a whole contingent
- 36:54Speaker 1: he did.
- 36:55Speaker 2: Miles North twenty eight miles north, the hometown can comes
- 37:00Speaker 2: through with a big homer for the away team, Cardinals.
- 37:05Speaker 2: He was he was living it, living it, especially when
- 37:08Speaker 2: he thought the season was going to kind of be meah.
- 37:13Speaker 1: Yeah, and it still might end up that way, but
- 37:15Speaker 1: at least for now, this team is fifteen and thirteen.
- 37:19Speaker 1: Now raise your hand if you think they're going to
- 37:21Speaker 1: make the playoffs. Okay, thank you.
- 37:24Speaker 2: Oh I don't have enough screen, sorry, raising.
- 37:30Speaker 1: Alligator arms. Nope, not happening, Bob Knightingale just put out
- 37:35Speaker 1: a quote from Dave Dombraski. I'm guessing maybe he's speaking
- 37:38Speaker 1: right now Kratz, and the quote was, this isn't a
- 37:41Speaker 1: blame game. We collectively are not doing well. Actually like
- 37:44Speaker 1: that quote, right, It's.
- 37:45Speaker 2: Like, it's not a blame game. That Whitey fire raptops
- 37:47Speaker 2: a blame. You're blaming am by firing.
- 37:49Speaker 1: But what else do you want him to do?
- 37:51Speaker 2: Why if you're not blaming him, Well, if you're not
- 37:54Speaker 2: blaming him, why do you fire him?
- 37:55Speaker 1: Well, no, it's everybody's fault. It's not just one person.
- 37:57Speaker 2: Well, then you should fire everybody. Dave Debrowski should step down.
- 38:00Speaker 1: But you can't fire everybody.
- 38:02Speaker 2: Okay, you're blaming top.
- 38:05Speaker 1: No, you're not blaming him solely.
- 38:07Speaker 2: You're just saying no, you are because he's the only
- 38:09Speaker 2: one they got fired literally everything.
- 38:11Speaker 1: Wait, hold up, if everything is messed up, right, and
- 38:14Speaker 1: there's one path where it's like you could do this
- 38:16Speaker 1: path pretty easily to start to try and get back
- 38:18Speaker 1: on track, you're gonna it's.
- 38:23Speaker 2: No, go ahead, Crouch, It's just such a cop out.
- 38:28Speaker 2: That's it. AJ say your piece. I just feel like
- 38:32Speaker 2: too many times it's a cop out and people are like, oh, yep,
- 38:38Speaker 2: this is what we had to do. We had to
- 38:40Speaker 2: do it because we're playing bad. It just why does
- 38:43Speaker 2: nobody ever think on their own? Why don't you think
- 38:46Speaker 2: on your own and like not just do what everybody else.
- 38:49Speaker 2: Reuben said it like three times. Well, the industry will
- 38:52Speaker 2: tell you this is what you have to.
- 38:53Speaker 1: Do, because sometimes it does light a spark.
- 38:59Speaker 2: Never or have I won.
- 39:02Speaker 1: When they just experienced this.
- 39:05Speaker 2: When you then I got to play harder because Freddy
- 39:07Speaker 2: got fired. No, I was trying to play harder one
- 39:09Speaker 2: like I was not trying to do good.
- 39:12Speaker 1: But the Phillies just experience this. Rob Thompson took over
- 39:16Speaker 1: for Jojo.
- 39:17Speaker 2: Okay, because maybe the Phillies weren't playing their best and
- 39:19Speaker 2: then they got they got together and played better. Hey,
- 39:23Speaker 2: it could have been coincidence. How many times we see
- 39:25Speaker 2: managers fire in the middle of the year and they
- 39:27Speaker 2: don't do better? Sometimes they and sometimes all about who
- 39:30Speaker 2: you're playing and hell giants, it'll help.
- 39:36Speaker 1: You know what they call this guy's show business. It's
- 39:39Speaker 1: show business. You gotta do something.
- 39:42Speaker 2: But you don't need to come out and say we're
- 39:43Speaker 2: not blaming anyone. You blame the guy you fired he got.
- 39:47Speaker 2: It would be like me punching in your face and saying,
- 39:49Speaker 2: it's not your fault.
- 39:50Speaker 1: I don't blame the analogy.
- 39:51Speaker 2: And then yeah it is, And then I could say, well,
- 39:53Speaker 2: it's no where's fault. I'm just blaming. I'm not blaming
- 39:55Speaker 2: you Scottish. But actually, actually let's do this. I'll say
- 40:00Speaker 2: something dumb and then A j punches Scott in the
- 40:04Speaker 2: face and then because hey, we had we had to
- 40:07Speaker 2: do something we can't have. We can't have Eric continually
- 40:10Speaker 2: setting stupid stuff on the show. What an idiot? Why
- 40:13Speaker 2: is his hat backwards? AJU do it?
- 40:17Speaker 1: We want to do the Trevor story thing or talk
- 40:20Speaker 1: about Louis Castillo or.
- 40:22Speaker 2: I think I mean Trevor Story just said he had
- 40:24Speaker 2: to talk with Craig Breslo, and that's the Luis Castillo
- 40:28Speaker 2: thing is a little more concerning getting whack. And then
- 40:31Speaker 2: I mean, Hancock's been pitching pretty well. They have when
- 40:34Speaker 2: when Miller comes back, what do they do? That's the
- 40:36Speaker 2: real question because the rest of the rotation has been decent,
- 40:40Speaker 2: but Louis Castillo, La Piedro, the rock has not been
- 40:42Speaker 2: He's been real rocky this year. And that's not what
- 40:45Speaker 2: they and he'd actually kind of started towards the end
- 40:47Speaker 2: last year if you I think, if you go back
- 40:48Speaker 2: and look at his numbers, they weren't create last year.
- 40:51Speaker 1: He was pretty good in the playoffs. But I don't know,
- 40:56Speaker 1: what do you do hear that boot him from the
- 40:58Speaker 1: rotation this earlier, to boot him when he's.
- 41:02Speaker 2: Contract. I don't know. They're gonna other pictures. They're gonna
- 41:06Speaker 2: boot one of the other pictures out of rotation even
- 41:08Speaker 2: though it wasn't his fault. And we're staying on a
- 41:09Speaker 2: theme today.
- 41:12Speaker 1: You guys just can't get over it.
- 41:13Speaker 2: I didn't say anything. They're not gonna blame castile, though
- 41:16Speaker 2: I know that they're just if they they're gonna take
- 41:19Speaker 2: someone out of the rotation because when Bryce Miller comes
- 41:22Speaker 2: back and they're gonna say, we're not blaming anybody, we're
- 41:24Speaker 2: just gonna remove you. It is interesting because they're a
- 41:27Speaker 2: team that legit has five guys, and I think all
- 41:30Speaker 2: of their guys obviously depending on what they feel like
- 41:33Speaker 2: Miller's health status is. They're guys that have to pitch
- 41:38Speaker 2: every five days. They don't have they don't have like
- 41:41Speaker 2: what the Dodgers have where they want to keep Yamamoto
- 41:44Speaker 2: or show Hay or Rokie on on a different on
- 41:48Speaker 2: a different schedule. You want Wu out there every five days.
- 41:51Speaker 2: You want loger Gilbert out there every five days. You
- 41:53Speaker 2: want George Kirby out there every five days, Ember said Hancocks.
- 41:57Speaker 2: Striking dudes out like it's it's a good thing for
- 42:02Speaker 2: the Mariners. But and they're slowly. I think they're like
- 42:05Speaker 2: one game under five hundred now, so they're they're slowly
- 42:08Speaker 2: starting to hit their hit their stride.
- 42:14Speaker 1: Yeah, I remember hearing an interview with I think it
- 42:16Speaker 1: was Depoto or Hollander, one of the front office dudes,
- 42:18Speaker 1: saying like they were really excited about him in spring training.
- 42:21Speaker 1: The v low is up a little bit, he's using
- 42:24Speaker 1: his change up more or whatever. And then you get
- 42:25Speaker 1: to the season and it's similar to last season. If
- 42:28Speaker 1: you're summarizing at all, I mean the fastball allows loud contact.
- 42:34Speaker 1: Check out the odds boost token. You can score a
- 42:36Speaker 1: bigger payout on the BETMGM app or betmgm dot com.
- 42:40Speaker 1: I'll hook you up with your own MLB style. You
- 42:42Speaker 1: add it to your bet slip and MLB bet activate
- 42:45Speaker 1: the token, lock it in if your bet hits, you're
- 42:47Speaker 1: cashing out with an even bigger payout gambling problem or concern.
- 42:50Speaker 1: There's help called Wynen Hunter gambler. Oh, let's slap hands.
- 43:06Speaker 1: I know some of you were waiting for this. I'll
- 43:08Speaker 1: get a villain out in Cleveland last night stealing a
- 43:12Speaker 1: baseball from a young girl. I mean, you gotta be
- 43:17Speaker 1: kidding me. And then Ryan Bass saves the day.
- 43:23Speaker 2: Didn't you look up and see who had the ball
- 43:25Speaker 2: and think like, I know, I would hope to think
- 43:28Speaker 2: that if I was in that situation, but he was
- 43:30Speaker 2: looking right at her. If he grabbed the ball and
- 43:33Speaker 2: looked up and saw it was a little girl, wouldn't
- 43:35Speaker 2: you just be like, hey, you can have it. Here
- 43:36Speaker 2: you go. Well, doesn't mean that much. Maybe to me
- 43:40Speaker 2: it doesn't. He had the double arro on the play.
- 43:43Speaker 2: He was the one the ball hit. I think Schneeman
- 43:46Speaker 2: hit it to him and he clanked it and it
- 43:49Speaker 2: bounced over to her and then he ran over to
- 43:53Speaker 2: get it, so he was he was full locked in.
- 43:55Speaker 2: All I can say is people freak out in those moments.
- 43:58Speaker 2: And I took my boys to all the baseball team.
- 44:01Speaker 2: I took him to a triple A game, the Iron
- 44:03Speaker 2: Pigs game the other day, and one of the guys
- 44:06Speaker 2: got a ball and all the dudes were so juiced.
- 44:09Speaker 2: And the first thing they did after everybody celebrated, the
- 44:12Speaker 2: whole team celebrated, they looked around for a kid to
- 44:15Speaker 2: give the ball to, like un like nobody even told
- 44:19Speaker 2: him to do it, just looked around like that. And
- 44:22Speaker 2: so that dude just zero chill, as the kids say.
- 44:26Speaker 1: Zero field. Wait, and we showed it for a moment.
- 44:28Speaker 1: The mom posted on Facebook kind of blasting the Cleveland
- 44:33Speaker 1: broadcast and now they might have missed it, but she
- 44:35Speaker 1: was like, always Raised, We'll have a special place in
- 44:37Speaker 1: my heart, not just fast for dropping the baseball off
- 44:40Speaker 1: for the kids and the tears, but she's like, Cleveland
- 44:43Speaker 1: broadcast went right to a shot of puppies. Did you
- 44:46Speaker 1: see that. Yeah, She's like, Cleveland cut the puppies rather
- 44:50Speaker 1: than show the man stealing the ball from a child.
- 44:53Speaker 1: So she sent a special thank you to the Raised
- 44:55Speaker 1: broadcast and Ryan, I don't know the backstory of how
- 44:59Speaker 1: that happened, Snow from working in TV as you do
- 45:01Speaker 1: for years. They might have just missed it. And then
- 45:04Speaker 1: by the time it happened, didn't it's so fast in
- 45:08Speaker 1: a production truck. Just so you know, I'm not I
- 45:10Speaker 1: don't think like they were going, no, this is gonna
- 45:13Speaker 1: make us.
- 45:13Speaker 2: So they also could have. They also could have gone
- 45:15Speaker 2: back to it because they still have the camera roll
- 45:17Speaker 2: are it's probably showing it. So they also didn't want
- 45:20Speaker 2: to probably make a Cleveland fan look bad. Why because
- 45:23Speaker 2: they're Cleveland. They don't have that many fans. They would
- 45:30Speaker 2: see it, they would see a check the attendance rubbers.
- 45:35Speaker 2: I'm just saying like they'll.
- 45:37Speaker 1: Be like, guys, that's Reginald who sits in seat whatever,
- 45:43Speaker 1: has a half season package. We can't do that
