- 0:003 lifelong friends, 6 trusty balls and endless NFL takes.
- 0:05Welcome to three guys 6 balls NFL podcast.
- 0:08Welcome to episode 12 of three guys 6 balls NFL podcast.
- 0:11I'm excited for today's episode. We've got a couple good topics
- 0:14we're talking about today, but to get us started here, I have a
- 0:17little game for you guys. So recently Eagles running back
- 0:22Saquon Barkley came out and said that he thinks the 2024 Super
- 0:27Bowl champion Eagles are a top five team ever.
- 0:32And So what I want you guys to do is I have put together a list
- 0:36of 10 teams, five teams from before 2005, teams from after
- 0:402000. And I'm just going to read them
- 0:42off. And I want you guys to tell me
- 0:43if the Eagles from 2024 are better or if these teams are
- 0:48better. Oh.
- 0:51OK. So the first one here is the
- 0:531972 Dolphins, the only undefeated team in NFL history.
- 0:59Yeah, I mean, they have to be better, right?
- 1:01Whose rules are we playing? Their 70s rules or.
- 1:05More rules you have to go you have to go best like like they
- 1:10were the best at in that time, right.
- 1:13He was the best in their time. The game is different, but I
- 1:16still think that that it's it's equal, equal, I guess them now
- 1:21versus them then. I feel like being undefeated is
- 1:26enough to put you on top, like because you can only, you can
- 1:30only really be judged based on the era that you play in.
- 1:33You know, it's like winning a Super Bowl, but like every top
- 1:37quarterback was injured. It's like it doesn't take away
- 1:39the Super Bowl. It's like you still won.
- 1:42Everyone was trying as hard as they could.
- 1:43You know, it's not your fault that you didn't have better
- 1:46competition, I guess. But I mean, that's not like I
- 1:48know the competition in that year was 50 years ago.
- 1:52Yeah. I'd have to say the Dolphins.
- 1:55OK. And all these teams are all
- 1:57Super Bowl winners, by the way. Second team the 1985 Chicago
- 2:01Bears. And that's talked about this the
- 2:02most dominant defense of all time.
- 2:05Yeah, they have the fridge. Or what's his name?
- 2:08Refrigerator Perry feel like that's the right team.
- 2:10Was he on that? I don't know.
- 2:11I don't know anything. In because in my mind, all of
- 2:14these everything pre 2000 is basically going to be like
- 2:18toughness versus like speed and skill.
- 2:22Like that's whenever I watch old footage like that's what it
- 2:25looks like. It's like these men are real
- 2:28men. Like these guys would like they
- 2:31wouldn't even need pads. We're talking about, we're
- 2:35talking about the 85 bears. 85 bears.
- 2:37Refrigerator Perry's working season on the Bears.
- 2:41OK, I'm going to have to say the Bears, but part of this might
- 2:44just be like my indifference towards the 24 eagles.
- 2:49Like I thought like they they were good, but like, not.
- 2:52Yeah, I'm going to say the bears.
- 2:54Now, without stats or anything like that, I don't know if I
- 2:57agree with that. That team, as far as I remember,
- 3:00was held up by its defense. Which was #1 in almost every
- 3:04single defensive. Category, sure, but still, I
- 3:07feel like the Eagles this year were fairly well-rounded
- 3:10offensively and defensively. They beat the Patriots 46 to 10
- 3:15in the Super Bowl. The 85 Bears.
- 3:18Yeah, I mean. Jeez.
- 3:20I don't know. I mean, the Eagles would have
- 3:23shouldn't beat the Chiefs by words, but some garbage time
- 3:26touchdowns happened and I had such as didn't happen back then,
- 3:29Yeah. I mean, the fact that they just
- 3:32daddied up the Chiefs is that's not nothing.
- 3:35I I think I'm going with the Eagles this time.
- 3:38OK, OK. I think I'm going with the
- 3:40Eagles. OK, All right.
- 3:42Next one. The 1992 Dallas Cowboys, who
- 3:46were the youngest team in the NFL at the time, who went 13 and
- 3:493. Well, I'm going to have to go
- 3:51Cowboys, but that's just pure Cowboys over Eagles bias.
- 3:55I'll be honest about it, sorry. I'm going to go Eagles, although
- 4:00I will say that I'm looking at it now.
- 4:02The Cowboys beat the Bills 52 to 17.
- 4:06However, however, I would say that regardless, the Bills
- 4:09weren't winning. They were they, they had a
- 4:11destiny to lose four in a row. So I feel like any team they
- 4:14played, they had to lose. But that's that's superstition.
- 4:18Well, and, and just start from the head coach position.
- 4:20Jimmy Johnson is a way better head coach than next year
- 4:24Sirianni will ever be. So you start there and you start
- 4:28working away piece by piece of that team, that Cowboys team,
- 4:31Emmitt Smith, Michael Irving, and you're just not.
- 4:35Going to get that. Yeah, man, we were born in
- 4:38between two Super Bowl Cowboys Super Bowl victories.
- 4:42Yes, I know. I didn't know that because I
- 4:45didn't care, but now I see it and I and I care the.
- 4:48Reminder, Avery. OK, so we're going one and one
- 4:53on this one. Will's got the Cowboys and
- 4:55Avery's got the Eagles. Yeah.
- 4:58OK, OK, Next one, the 1994 San Francisco 49ers.
- 5:03Eagle, you were set. 1994. We're talking Steve Young, Jerry
- 5:08Rice, man, I mean, here's a problem is that we're trying to
- 5:12judge current player kids players and our kids are going
- 5:16to talk about is oh, you have to watch this guy play as people.
- 5:19We are taking for rent of running of right now.
- 5:22That being said, I actually don't know who I'm going with
- 5:25here. It's going to get a little bit
- 5:29easier that. I'm going to go years.
- 5:31Are going up as we go along. Once we start under, knowing who
- 5:35the teams are might be easy. True.
- 5:37Yeah, which I watch these teams play.
- 5:39I think I'm going to go with the Eagles as well.
- 5:42Actually, go with the Eagles. OK, all right.
- 5:45So next one, the 1999 Saint Louis Rams The Greatest Show on
- 5:50Turf. Kurt Warner, Marshall Faulk.
- 5:53I know. Avery has a soft spot in his
- 5:55heart for Kurt Warner. I do.
- 5:58Yeah, I'm going to have to go with the Rams there.
- 6:01Will, I don't know, Dick for meal Head coach Kurt Warner,
- 6:06Marshall Faulk, Isaac Bruce, Tory Holt and these are all
- 6:09household names. Oh man, I just was harder than I
- 6:13thought. I told I'm in the game.
- 6:16As mentioned earlier, the game is just so much different now
- 6:19versus then. I don't know oh how many go with
- 6:23the Rams as well. OK.
- 6:25That's a close 1 though. That is really close, OK.
- 6:28OK, so that's the five teams before 2000.
- 6:31So the five teams after 2000, The first one, the 2009 New
- 6:36Orleans Saints. Oh, I'm taking this Eagles team.
- 6:39Taking the Eagles. OK, I thought everyone might
- 6:42pick the Saints on that one. I want, I would like to say the
- 6:45Saints, but I didn't feel like they were particularly dominant.
- 6:49Yeah, they weren't. Yeah, a team of circumstance,
- 6:51truly. Yeah, OK.
- 6:53I'd I'd say the same thing with like the Cardinals the year
- 6:57before if they had won. It was.
- 6:59Like they weren't expected to be there at all.
- 7:02They were just great in the playoffs.
- 7:04Everything fell together. OK, the next one, the 2013
- 7:08Seattle Seahawks. The Legion of Boom.
- 7:10I'm going to go Seahawks. Who did play in the Super Bowl
- 7:13that year 1013 The. Broncos.
- 7:15Oh, that was the that was the embarrassing.
- 7:17See the beat. Down.
- 7:18Was that wasn't. That Peyton Manning.
- 7:21Yeah, yeah, that was an opening snap safety.
- 7:24I living in the Northwest, I watched that game with a series
- 7:28of Seahawks players and it was miserable for me as a person who
- 7:33does not like the Seahawks. From the very first snap, it was
- 7:37just yelling and screaming about how good this team is.
- 7:40But what they didn't really have was a consistent offense.
- 7:44I mean, they had March on Lynch and they had Russell Wilson.
- 7:47I can't name a single receiver off top my head from that team.
- 7:51I'm sure if you said that I remember them.
- 7:52But like Doug Baldwin, OK, that doesn't do anything for me.
- 7:58I'm taking the Eagles. I remember, I remember getting
- 8:02back from Mexico, I was at Brandon Sprague's place for like
- 8:05a day right before I went back to school and he showed me some,
- 8:09I don't know if it was some like 30 for 30 looking thing
- 8:13basically on the Legion of Boom that year because I like didn't
- 8:17see any of them. I'm like, Oh, you guys had some
- 8:18insane secondary and they just showed this documentary
- 8:22absolutely glazing this secondary like they were like
- 8:26demons and I watched it and I'm like, oh, they they look pretty
- 8:30good. So I'm like, that's the only
- 8:32thing I've seen of this team was that documentary that was just
- 8:35hyping them up so. That seemed was incredibly good.
- 8:40Anyway, I think we're going with the Eagles.
- 8:42OK, we're one-on-one. OK, the 2016 New England
- 8:46Patriots, who came back against the Falcons down 28 to 3.
- 8:50Eagles. Man, this is the wrong Patriots
- 8:54team to pick unfortunately. You said that they're all going
- 8:57to be Super Bowl winners. The only Patriots team I would
- 9:01pick over this Eagles team is the undefeated team that lost in
- 9:04Super Bowl. Eli Manning as the only one.
- 9:07I thought about putting them on this list, but I stuck with just
- 9:10Super Bowl winners. Yeah, so Eagles.
- 9:13OK, OK, this one's going to be interesting.
- 9:16How many more do we have? 2 The 2017 Philadelphia Eagles
- 9:23who won the Super Bowl with Nick Foles.
- 9:26Oh, I'm thinking this Eagles team over the Eagles team.
- 9:28Yeah, same. I think, yeah, I, I think this
- 9:32team is more well-rounded and I'm sure you've got 1000 stats
- 9:35that proved me wrong in every single way.
- 9:36But I don't think Carson, Carson Wentz was having right.
- 9:39He started the season there, Carson Wentz and he got injured.
- 9:41That's other one. Yeah, he was having an MVP year.
- 9:43He was having an MVP year and I think if Carson Wentz stayed the
- 9:46entire season, I'm probably picking him them over.
- 9:49But the best ability is availability and when you're not
- 9:53available. Their team didn't happen to
- 9:56suffer this time and that goes to show for the entire system
- 9:59they have. But I think I'm going to pick
- 10:01this Eagles team over that one. OK, I'm surprised.
- 10:04I'm surprised neither of you said the 17 Eagles because I I
- 10:08just thought that the fact that they won with their backup
- 10:10quarterback says something about that team.
- 10:14I agree, but it says more about the coaching and the system
- 10:16rather than the the dominance of that team in my opinion.
- 10:21Yeah, yeah, I'm going with the current one.
- 10:24OK, last one, the 2022 Kansas City Chiefs, who beat the Eagles
- 10:28in the Super Bowl. I'm.
- 10:30Going to go with the Chiefs, which is ridiculous because it
- 10:33was just what two years ago was. I guess they had, they had Hill
- 10:37back then, right? Is he still there?
- 10:39No, this is the first year after Tyree kill.
- 10:42They did not have Tyree kill that year.
- 10:44He missed out on 2 Super Bowls, but at least he was in a warmer
- 10:49city. So that that Chiefs team didn't
- 10:53have 1000 yard rusher, that Chiefs team only had 1000 yard
- 11:00receiver and that was their tight end statistically.
- 11:03I mean, Mahomes through for 5200 yards that year and 41
- 11:06touchdowns, I mean, that's really good.
- 11:08I might say this current, I'm going to say this current one,
- 11:11the current Eagles team. I think I think I like this
- 11:14current eagles team better than I think they have more pieces
- 11:18you have to watch out for both on offense and defense than that
- 11:22team did. I think that the Tyree kill
- 11:24chiefs team maybe maybe more questionable there, but I maybe
- 11:31Saquon has a point. This Eagle seems really good and
- 11:34we're taking them for granted. You guys have said the Eagles on
- 11:37five of the team so far, so yeah.
- 11:39Well, wait, let me let me ask follow up question.
- 11:43The 19 Chiefs, the 2022 Chiefs or the 2023 Chiefs, would you
- 11:49put either of those three teams above the Eagles?
- 11:53The first one beat the Niners 31 to 20.
- 11:56We just talked about the second one and then the other one beat
- 11:58the Niners 25 to 22 in overtime. I would put the 19 Chiefs over.
- 12:04They came back in that game. Yeah, they should have lost that
- 12:07game. Except is that Garoppolo right?
- 12:10Who overthrew What's his face? It's very end.
- 12:13The Niners were looking scary that year.
- 12:16Yeah, Niners were good that year.
- 12:18Finally. A year that they didn't have
- 12:20their entire defensive or offensive running back team
- 12:24destroyed by injury. Travis Kelsey, Tyree Hill, Damon
- 12:30Williams, Sammy Watkins, Lashawn McCoy, Nicole Hardman.
- 12:35Good golly, that team was stacked.
- 12:39D Anthony Thomas, Can't forget about him.
- 12:41He was on the team too. You.
- 12:43Remember when they brought him, like when he was in Oregon,
- 12:46dude, they treated him like he was some vintage 60s like
- 12:52Corvette that they would like, like from Ferris Bueller's Day
- 12:55Off. They like, you know, like make
- 12:57sure he's OK and they bring him out.
- 12:59I think the Rose Bowl, he had like 3 catches for 160 yards and
- 13:05two touchdowns and it was like that was all he played because
- 13:09he was so small and fragile that they were worried he was going
- 13:12to get hurt. And then he went to the NFL on
- 13:18Untarnished and still just never really they keep treating him
- 13:22like that. Bummer.
- 13:25I've taken him since 2019. Chiefs over this Disney Eagles
- 13:28team. All I'm taking away from this is
- 13:30that Saquon had a little bit more reason behind that than I
- 13:33initially thought. Yeah, I I can agree with that.
- 13:36So. OK, so I got asked the question
- 13:38now, do you guys think that the 2024 Eagles are a top five team
- 13:42because that's only that's only 10 teams that that we talked
- 13:44about, but you guys listed you both agreed on the Eagles on
- 13:47five teams and you were split on three others.
- 13:52I I don't know if I'm willing to say they are, but I think they
- 13:55have a serious argument to be. Yeah, OK.
- 13:58Let me ask you guys. Before the Super Bowl, I'd say
- 14:04before the playoffs, what were your thoughts on the Eagles?
- 14:08Not once that I ever thought they were top five team.
- 14:11That's because that's what I'm thinking.
- 14:13So part of this is like, I mean, if the Lions, let's say the
- 14:16Lions won out, are they top five?
- 14:19Because part of it is like, you could look at the whole body of
- 14:22work, but then you could also look at, oh, shoot, they won the
- 14:25Super Bowl where it's like sometimes that, you know, it can
- 14:27go either way. Not as much as basketball.
- 14:29There's no reference. But with this, I'm like, because
- 14:34I the Lions seem like the real deal.
- 14:37If the Lions kept going, like because of the kind of the way
- 14:42that people were looking at them throughout the regular season, I
- 14:44feel like they could have made that argument.
- 14:46Unfortunately, they lost. So it's like with the Eagles, if
- 14:48they lost, you know, in the conference final, like, is that
- 14:52even? Are they even like, I don't
- 14:54know, I guess part of me is just wondering if it all just comes
- 14:57down to their performance in the Super Bowl.
- 14:59I think it's huge part of it though, truly.
- 15:02Interesting. Well the Dallas Cowboy in me
- 15:05wanted to prove him wrong but I guess it ended up proving me
- 15:10wrong and said. It's a compelling argument,
- 15:13truly. Like he he said it probably just
- 15:17saying it, but I think that's a fairpoint.
- 15:20OK, interesting. All right, well let's get on to
- 15:24our first official topic. So last week we were talking
- 15:28about 2024 playoff teams who would miss the playoffs and 2024
- 15:33non playoff teams who would make the playoffs.
- 15:35And during that discussion, Avery asked the question if
- 15:39there had ever been a team that had had three teams in the same
- 15:42division make the playoffs, that had had three teams make the
- 15:45playoffs the following year as well.
- 15:48So I looked it up and the answer is yes, there has been.
- 15:52I went back to 2002 for this stat.
- 15:54And the reason I did 2002 is because that was the first year
- 15:58that the NFL had four divisions in each conference where there
- 16:03was four teams in each division. So there was a realignment that
- 16:06year of the divisions because the Houston Texans had joined
- 16:10the league that year. So 2002 was the first year the
- 16:12Texans were in the NFL. So since 2002 there have been 13
- 16:18total divisions that have had three teams in the playoffs.
- 16:21However, there's only been one division that has ever done it
- 16:25in back-to-back years, which is the NFC East in 2006 and 2007.
- 16:32So something interesting with this is even though they had
- 16:35three teams in the playoffs in back-to-back years, it was not
- 16:38the same three teams. So in 2006 they had the Eagles,
- 16:42Cowboys and Giants make it. In 2007, they had the Cowboys,
- 16:45Giants and Commanders make it. Redskins, but yeah.
- 16:48I mean, it wasn't, it was the. Reds game.
- 16:50Yeah, it. Wasn't commanders back then all?
- 16:53Right. So what we're going to do today
- 16:55is we are going to go through the 8 divisions in the NFL and
- 16:59we're going to rank them one through 8 based on how likely
- 17:02they are to have three teams make the playoffs in 2025.
- 17:06So I want to read you guys a couple stats before we get
- 17:09started because they might sway your, your thinking here coming
- 17:14in. So some notable stats.
- 17:17There are three teams in the entire NFL who have made the
- 17:21playoffs for the last five years, every single year for at
- 17:25least the last five years. The Chiefs have made it for the
- 17:28last 10 years, the Bills have made it for the last six years,
- 17:32and the Buccaneers have made it for the last five years.
- 17:35Every other team has missed the playoffs at least one time in
- 17:39the last five years. Then there's a stat here that's
- 17:43over the last 35 years. So going back to 1990, there has
- 17:48been an average of 5.8 new teams in the playoffs compared to the
- 17:52prior year every single year. And last year there was 4 new
- 17:56teams in the playoffs, meaning that for the last 35 years there
- 18:00has been at least 4 new playoff teams in the playoffs every
- 18:04single year. So I don't know if that that
- 18:07sways any of your guys's thinking at all, but it does
- 18:09prove that it is extremely hard to repeat success year after
- 18:13year in the NFL. So it doesn't necessarily mean
- 18:16that just because division had three teams in the playoffs last
- 18:21year that it's going to happen again this year.
- 18:23I wonder how well those new teams do because I'm thinking
- 18:29like soccer relegation where you know, if you you're the worst in
- 18:32your league, you drop down to the next lower league and if
- 18:35you're the best in that lower league, you raise up.
- 18:37But it's got to be one of those things where those teams that
- 18:39are right on the cusp and keep, you know, going up and down, I
- 18:42would imagine that they're just bouncing around for a while.
- 18:45So I wonder what those like 4 to 5 teams that come in, if that's
- 18:48just a oh, we barely made it this year and then the next year
- 18:51they get dropped down and another team goes up.
- 18:53But you have, you know, cuz you mentioned like the Bills and the
- 18:56Chiefs that are up there. But just because you know,
- 18:59there's only, I think you said like 3 teams that have made it,
- 19:01you know, you know, in the past five years.
- 19:03That doesn't mean that there's not other teams that were like,
- 19:06oh, we're really good. But we might have missed it one
- 19:08year, but then we're right back in at the next year cuz we had,
- 19:11you know, our quarterback get hurt or something.
- 19:12I just, I guess I just wonder cuz what that would implicate is
- 19:16like how important is making the playoffs to you?
- 19:19Cuz if you're a team that hasn't made the playoffs in a while and
- 19:21you can just barely make it in, does that like hurt you because
- 19:25you just lost, you got a worst draft position and now you're
- 19:28kind of still in that little middle Rd. area?
- 19:30Or if the some of those new teams actually pose a threat to
- 19:33the reigning establishment, you know, dynasties.
- 19:37Well, I think the Eagles would be a good a good team to that
- 19:41point, Avery is. They haven't made it to the
- 19:42playoffs in each of the last five seasons, but they've been
- 19:45to two Super Bowls in the last three years.
- 19:49No. Let's bring a point.
- 19:51And then just one more stat before we start ranking the
- 19:53divisions. So I just want to go through
- 19:56each of the divisions and tell you how many times each division
- 19:59has had three teams make the playoffs.
- 20:02So the AFC North has done it four times, the AFC West has
- 20:06done it two times, the AFC S has done it once, and the AFC East
- 20:10has never done it. The NFC East has done it three
- 20:12times, the NFC West once, NFC South once and NFC North once.
- 20:18So with that Will why don't you pick a division to start us off
- 20:23here? And #8 and this is a real, real
- 20:26toss up. I, I debated this one for a
- 20:30while, probably more than I debated my number one spot.
- 20:32I have the AFC S. The AFC S has just been bad for
- 20:37a lot of years. And I don't just mean all of
- 20:40them because somebody has to make the playoffs by default.
- 20:43The AFC is such an absolute juggernaut.
- 20:45Yeah, I think they have the lowest probability with the
- 20:48Texans, Colts, Jaguars, Titans to make three teams in the
- 20:52playoffs. I can agree with that.
- 20:54What do you think, Avery? I'm.
- 20:58I mean, who are you debating it with?
- 20:59I'm for me, it's probably the AFC East that was the one that
- 21:04hadn't ever made it right. Yeah, they've never done it, but
- 21:07I actually have, I actually have a case to make for the AFC East.
- 21:10I have the AFC East of my sixth spot.
- 21:11They're not even in my 7th spot. I'd actually like to hear Joel's
- 21:14reasoning for that, because that might influence me and I love to
- 21:17be influenced. OK, so OK, so to the AFC East.
- 21:23So we got the Bills, right? The Bills are in the Dolphins.
- 21:25They've made the playoffs 2 of the last three years.
- 21:27Really, it rests on Tua and his health.
- 21:31Absolutely. He's missed 10 games over the
- 21:33last three seasons he played. He played 17 games in one of
- 21:36those seasons, but his lowest passer rating in in full year
- 21:41that he's played over the last three years is 101.1.
- 21:46So he is actually a very good quarterback.
- 21:48Their defense last year was a top 10 scoring defense.
- 21:51So if 2 is on the field the entire season with a rating
- 21:55that's above 100 and a top 10 scoring defense, I can see the
- 21:59the Dolphins making the playoffs.
- 22:00Now really this case rests on how you guys feel about the
- 22:03Patriots because The Jets aren't making it.
- 22:04The Jets haven't made the playoffs since 2010.
- 22:08So it really depends on how you guys feel about the Patriots and
- 22:12what they've done this offseason to put around to build around
- 22:15their Pro Bowl quarterback Drake May.
- 22:17I hate that so much. It's accurate, but I hate it.
- 22:23I like the patriots moves. I just don't.
- 22:26I like Drake. I love Drake May, but I, I don't
- 22:29know how I I don't think they're going to make the playoffs.
- 22:33Now, I'm not making a case to to put the AFC East at the top.
- 22:37Right I'm. Just I'm just making a case.
- 22:39Just. Just above.
- 22:40Yeah. Yeah.
- 22:42And that, that right there is why I have them in the sixth
- 22:44spot, not the seven or eight. I can see.
- 22:46I don't want to have the seven is.
- 22:48Yeah, who's your seven Will? I have the NFC South.
- 22:51We've got both Souths in seven and eight because there is a
- 22:56near statistical 0% possibility that three of these teams
- 23:01between the Buccaneers, Falcons, Panthers and Saints make the
- 23:05playoffs. This is a division where they
- 23:07only had one and they're 1 double digit win team.
- 23:11I think there is a possibility that two of these teams make the
- 23:15playoffs this year between the Buccaneers and the Falcons.
- 23:18They're going to fight for the division where but the Panthers
- 23:20are not there yet and the Saints are absolutely, definitely not
- 23:23now there. There is no way, in my opinion,
- 23:27that the same the NFC South makes three teams in the
- 23:30playoffs. Yeah, the Panthers had the worst
- 23:33defense by far last year. They were the only team that
- 23:36gave up over 30 points a game and then the Saints are just
- 23:40over there shucking around. I don't know what they're doing,
- 23:42but. Yeah, it is funny 'cause we're
- 23:46kind of arguing like, who would get beat down the most?
- 23:50Yeah, totally. That's what we're.
- 23:52Talking right now, second most. Yeah, Honestly, I, I, I'm kind
- 23:55of agreeing with Will. There's obviously no way to ever
- 23:58test this or find out 'cause I don't think either any of these
- 24:01divisions are going to get three teams, but we're talking about
- 24:04just the likelihood. Right.
- 24:07And just to put the final Naomi Coffin for the AFC S, that's the
- 24:11number 8 spot. This is last year.
- 24:13And I, I texted Joe that history doesn't matter.
- 24:16It's all about the right now. But for last year, the AFC
- 24:19sounds winner, the Houston Texans had a zero point point
- 24:23differential, literally 0. And then it goes down from
- 24:27there. Nicole had -50 the Jaguars had
- 24:30-115 and Titans had a negative 149.
- 24:35So the winner had a 0% point differential, which is not as
- 24:38bad as the Rams when a -19 points for differential and they
- 24:42won a division, but still. The Colts also had a quarterback
- 24:46who completed 47.7% of his passes, which is the worst since
- 24:52Tim Tebow. Oh.
- 24:54I didn't know he did that bad. That team won the playoff game.
- 24:57Now Tim Tebow took the Broncos to to the playoffs and won in
- 25:02overtime over the steers. Are you saying Anthony
- 25:04Richardson's going to go to the playoffs?
- 25:06I'm saying there's a chance, really low by a chance.
- 25:11OK. I agree with both the South
- 25:13teams in the seven and eight spot.
- 25:16Yeah, they're terrible. Avery, do you agree?
- 25:19Yeah. OK, Yeah, I was influenced.
- 25:23All right, so will you have the AFC East as your six?
- 25:26Who's your? 55, I have NFC East and boy,
- 25:32Howie, is this too high for the NFC East?
- 25:35This is too high for them, but they have higher probability
- 25:40than the other three we've already talked.
- 25:42Yeah, the other three we've already talked about.
- 25:43Is this just a dig at the Cowboys not making it?
- 25:47No, this is a dig at the NFC East being terrible.
- 25:50Two of the three teams are awful right now.
- 25:53I think the Giants are going to be competitive, though.
- 25:55The Cowboys and Giants, there's no way.
- 25:57With their current schedules, you can't.
- 25:59You are not going from three and 14 to playoff team.
- 26:02It could happen, sure. No, but it's not.
- 26:05But it's really just about the Cowboys, right?
- 26:07We're talking about Eagles, Commanders, Cowboys.
- 26:09I mean, 'cause you only need 3IN, right?
- 26:11Like whoever the worst. There's no way, there's no way
- 26:14based off of that schedule that the Cowboys are making it in.
- 26:17No, Cowboys are five, maybe, maybe six win team next year.
- 26:21Oh, you guys are already? I've looked at that schedule.
- 26:24I have looked at that schedule a lot in the know with that.
- 26:27Yeah, I didn't realize. You guys were several times and
- 26:29it's not happening. We're kind of with friends.
- 26:31Of course, we're due May in May, about the next season.
- 26:34Although, although I will say, I will say this, I, I haven't done
- 26:38the actual math on this, so I don't know the actual stat, but
- 26:42it seems like every year that everybody thinks the Cowboys are
- 26:45going to suck, they're good somehow.
- 26:47And every year people think they're going to be good.
- 26:49They suck just to throw that out there.
- 26:51But I don't see any way with the schedule that the Cowboys are
- 26:53making. You did.
- 26:54You guys are already at stage five of the five stages of
- 26:58denial of whatever grief. Yeah, we've.
- 27:02Already. Moved on to 2026.
- 27:03I'm accepting this. Already in acceptance, Dang.
- 27:07Now the problem is I don't always.
- 27:09Do that. So I guess that makes sense.
- 27:11The Cowboys are going to do what the Cowboys do and they're going
- 27:13to go 7 and 10 again next year, except they're going to get
- 27:18picked like 15 or 14 rather than 7 or whatever they had this
- 27:24year. And there's going to get 12
- 27:26race. They need a couple spots work
- 27:28and if it's not, the team's ever get better.
- 27:30We're back in the Jerry Jones era.
- 27:31Hey, we're back in the Jason Garrett era.
- 27:34Joel, I'm gonna make a prediction.
- 27:36NFC East. NFC East, this is this is one
- 27:38that goes on the board. NFC East gets three teams and
- 27:42the Cowboys lose in the first round.
- 27:44That's not a. Very old prediction.
- 27:45That's a guarantee you Cowboys make play outs.
- 27:48You guys, hey, hey, I, I think that's pretty bold considering I
- 27:51got 2 Cowboys fans that were already like, no, no shot.
- 27:55We don't get three teams and I'm like, the Cowboys are the, are
- 27:57the, the linchpin here. That's that's the team you need.
- 27:59Like, no. Maybe the maybe the making them
- 28:02making the playoffs is a bold prediction, but them losing in
- 28:05the first round is not a bold prediction.
- 28:06That's just the trend. Well, no, that's just like me
- 28:10saying they're not going to win the Super Bowl.
- 28:11It's like, well, obviously I say like they're going to lose the
- 28:13first playoff game. Like, well, obviously.
- 28:15So it's really just about making the playoffs because we know
- 28:17they're not going past going past the first round.
- 28:23OK. So, OK, so with this discussion
- 28:25then, Avery, would you put the NFC East above the AFC East?
- 28:29We just did. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 28:31100 percent, 100%. I would probably flip them but
- 28:35since you guys both have them. You you put the AFC East above.
- 28:40Oh yeah, I put the the AFC East above the NFC East.
- 28:43So you're basically. Saying The Jets are going to be
- 28:47better than the Cowboys next year, that's what.
- 28:49That's what it sounds like. You said patriots.
- 28:51I'm saying the Bills, Dolphins and Patriots are going to be
- 28:54better than than the Cowboys. Or you're saying the Patriots
- 28:57are gonna, well, I, I guess, I guess all I'm saying is just the
- 29:00bottom of the division, the, the, the team that kind of, you
- 29:02know, the, the, the, the third team, because that's really what
- 29:05we're talking about. You you would basically say that
- 29:07the Patriots, the four and 13 Patriots have a better shot at
- 29:11making the playoffs than the seven and 10 Cowboys next year.
- 29:15Yes. I actually don't necessarily
- 29:18disagree with that either. OK, no, I I don't know.
- 29:23I'm just that's. Some real Cowboys say here, but.
- 29:27I'm fine with with sticking with the AFC East at six if you guys
- 29:30are, if you guys want. To.
- 29:33OK. All right, and my number four
- 29:34slot, so we've got AMC South at 8, NFC South at 7, AMC E at six,
- 29:40NFC East at 5 has the first slot.
- 29:43I have the NFC West. I've got RAM, Seahawks,
- 29:49Cardinals, Niners. Now we're getting into the era
- 29:51or to to the range of teams that actually have a shot getting
- 29:56three teams into the playoffs. We are, we are there.
- 30:00I think if we're going to have anybody, it's going to be Rams,
- 30:02Seahawks, Cardinals, Niners still aren't going to make it.
- 30:05They're going to be I'm I'm terribly afraid about Brock, but
- 30:09he's going to have a hangover season after after hitting his
- 30:12gigantic contract, it seems like yeah, he'll either get hurt or
- 30:17I. Mean overweight.
- 30:19What it feels like happens is that they just get so uptight
- 30:23about how much, maybe about how much money they're being paid
- 30:25and say, oh, I have to prove myself.
- 30:27So inside their own head they get to yeps and it's just
- 30:30terrible for them. Yeah, I was going to ask that.
- 30:31Like why is it that after every single player gets paid the big
- 30:35contract they either get hurt or they just suck?
- 30:38It's because the pressure's on now.
- 30:39You got all this money, you have to perform, so pressure's on.
- 30:43Watch him get the Madden cover and then just get assassinated
- 30:46the next week. Do we know who's?
- 30:49Sounding curses. Doing over the Madden cover.
- 30:53Who is? I don't know, I haven't played
- 30:55Madden since like that is. Oh, he's Taquan Barkley jumping
- 30:58over that guy backwards. Oh.
- 31:00That's actually a. Hell of that's a sick cover.
- 31:03That's awesome. That's a really cool photo.
- 31:07Does that cement the Eagles being a top five team ever?
- 31:10I mean, I asked you, right? Madden cover.
- 31:12Gosh. OK.
- 31:13It almost looks explicit. I would be so upset if I was.
- 31:17I thank goodness they obscured his name.
- 31:20The Jaguars player. I don't know who it is, and it's
- 31:23probably a good thing. Like 'cause if dude, he's more
- 31:26front and center than Saquon is. Almost.
- 31:30Yeah. Poor dude.
- 31:33Forever remember to say guy who got jumped over backwards.
- 31:35It's like getting posterized. It's like, oh that's so
- 31:37embarrassing. Like I'm the only one that
- 31:39bothered to defend the man. All right.
- 31:44I think I'm good with the NFC West at 4th, Yeah.
- 31:47I, I don't, I think there's teams that have higher
- 31:48probability, but I think they have better than what we've
- 31:52talked about, which is why they're ranked where they are.
- 31:54Yeah, people better and there are people worse.
- 31:55I will say the Seahawks are kind of a question mark to me and the
- 32:0049ers are a pretty big question mark to me.
- 32:03And the reason I say the Seahawks are a question mark is
- 32:04just because of the quarterback situation.
- 32:06I agree with that. I don't think Sam Donaldson
- 32:09Manier is good and doesn't have the weapons to throw through, to
- 32:12throw to. It's like he doesn't have like
- 32:15he had in Minnesota last year. So we'll see how that goes.
- 32:18Can I guess you're #3 team? You may.
- 32:21Or division? Is it the AFC North?
- 32:24It is not the AFC North. Is it the West?
- 32:27It is not. The West is the NFC.
- 32:32North. Wow.
- 32:34NFC North with the Lions, Vikings, Packers, and Bears.
- 32:40Now, I do think this is currently ranked too high.
- 32:43I feel like I have to because the only piece in the Vikings
- 32:46that changed was a quarterback, and that is still up for
- 32:49debates, right? We don't know anything about JJ
- 32:52McCarthy, and the second he sucks, they're going to trade
- 32:55for somebody good or pick up Aaron Rodgers or whatever or do
- 33:00anything. The Bears have made huge strides
- 33:02in the offseason. The Packers continue to be good.
- 33:05They had three teams last year. Again, the Vikings quarterback
- 33:08changed. So it's a significantly
- 33:10different team with just that one piece.
- 33:12I don't think there's any way to go 14 and 3 again, but I think
- 33:16that the NFC North has a high probability of making three
- 33:20teams in the playoffs. I don't know about you guys.
- 33:22I'm not entirely sold on the Bears.
- 33:25I know they've got a really good offseason, but I just what I did
- 33:29is I compared Dan Campbell's first few seasons in Detroit and
- 33:33I know the Lions were just really bad.
- 33:36When he took. Over but I compared his first
- 33:39couple seasons trying to, you know, kind of scope out how Ben
- 33:42Johnson's first couple seasons with the Bears are going to go.
- 33:45So in his first two seasons with the Lions, so his first season,
- 33:49Dan Campbell was went 3:13 and 1:00 and then his second season
- 33:53they were 9:00 and 8:00 and they missed the playoffs in both of
- 33:55those years. It's only been two years that
- 33:57the Lions have actually been really good.
- 33:59So it took a couple years for Dan Campbell to build up that
- 34:02team. So is Ben Johnson going to be
- 34:05able to do it with the Bears right away?
- 34:07I don't know. So I'm not entirely sold on the
- 34:10Bears. I don't, I'm not saying that
- 34:11they're they're not going to make the playoffs.
- 34:13I'm not saying that they're going to be the same Bears, but
- 34:15it may be it's going to take a little bit of time for Ben
- 34:17Johnson to build up that team the same way that it took Dan
- 34:20Campbell to build up the Lions. I agree with you.
- 34:23I I'm not fully sold to them. I think the Bears have made more
- 34:26moves in Ben Johnson's first year than the Lions did and Dan
- 34:30Campbell's first year. But the difference is, is that
- 34:34just in pure personality, right? I mean, Dan Campbell is a unit
- 34:38of a man and he's going to command things to be his way.
- 34:42You don't see the same thing from Ben Johnson.
- 34:44Not that he's not doing that, but he's not going on interviews
- 34:49and press conferences telling everybody's going to bite
- 34:51kneecaps and they're man, we're the breath man.
- 34:53We're going to be every man. It's just he's he's just a
- 34:56different kind of guy. So maybe he's more behind the
- 34:59scenes puppet master kind of coach and he's doing everything.
- 35:02We just don't see it and that's the way he wants it so.
- 35:05One other thing I will say with the Bears is and Ben Johnson,
- 35:09when Ben Johnson was with the Lions, again, it took a couple
- 35:12years, but in the two seasons of the Lions were really good.
- 35:15Ben Johnson had everything he could have possibly wanted on
- 35:18that offense. Does he have everything he could
- 35:21possibly want on the Bears offense or is there still pieces
- 35:25missing? To me, I look at the running
- 35:27back position and I say there's still something missing.
- 35:29I don't necessarily disagree with that one second, and I will
- 35:33disagree with you. Oh, he looks.
- 35:37I'm curious, do you guys think that a division has a better
- 35:40chance to make it if they have 4 solid teams or three solid teams
- 35:46and one absolute clunker? One absolute clunker.
- 35:51Agreed. I think you are correct, Joel.
- 35:54I think the mayor's running back room leaves things to be
- 35:59desired. Like a running back.
- 36:01Like a starting running, like a starting premier running back?
- 36:05Yes, correct. Like a man who can run with a
- 36:08ball. I also think that their
- 36:10receiving room leaves some to be desired.
- 36:12They have a bunch of new people in at receiver this year,
- 36:17whether through draft or undrafted free agent or trade.
- 36:21But I'm being less and less sold on this Bears team the more I
- 36:25look at it. Yeah, I still think I still, I'm
- 36:29standing by the AFC North here. Wait, Nope, AFC North here,
- 36:32Wrong side with the Lions, Vikings and Packers.
- 36:36I still think the Bears will be the odd team out.
- 36:38But I do think that even though the Bears may still be a conquer
- 36:42like he was just saying, I think the other three are enough to
- 36:45sharpen each other. Well, I don't think the Bears
- 36:47are going to be a clunker. That's why I'm not as sold on
- 36:49the NFC North. Sure, they're going to wipe each
- 36:52other out. Yeah, that and the fact that
- 36:54history, I knew you said it doesn't matter, will, but
- 36:56history says that it's not going to happen.
- 36:59It's only happened once since 2002.
- 37:01So history says it's not going to happen.
- 37:02And I think the reason for that could be that we don't know what
- 37:06the Vikings are going to be and we don't know what the Bears are
- 37:08going to be. And if they're both middle of
- 37:10the pack teams, they could be knocking each other off.
- 37:13You're right. And let me let me disagree with
- 37:16that here. The Packers went one and five in
- 37:19their division and still made the playoffs.
- 37:22So you can you can be a you. Can be a loss to one non
- 37:27divisional team. Yes, yeah.
- 37:29And that's exactly what I'm saying.
- 37:30You can be abysmal in your division.
- 37:32They went six and six in their conference.
- 37:34So all six losses were division were at NFC teams but one and
- 37:38five in their division and they still went 11 and six and made
- 37:41the playoffs. So you don't.
- 37:43Makes me like this division even less.
- 37:45You don't have to be good in your own division.
- 37:47That makes me want to move the NFC North down.
- 37:50But you have to be exceptional outside of your division.
- 37:53You have to win every other game that's.
- 37:55Wild. That's wild.
- 37:57You're getting incredibly sharpened by your own division
- 38:00and so where you take that talent and you beat everybody
- 38:03else. Now, obviously that NFC North
- 38:06didn't beat everybody else because the Eagles won the Super
- 38:08Bowl, but yeah, one in, five in in the division is still made
- 38:12the playoffs. I like that place in 3rd.
- 38:15I think they have higher probability than most others.
- 38:18And yes, even they just did it and statistically it's not going
- 38:20to happen. The end.
- 38:21I still think it's it's better than I think it's better than
- 38:24NFC West, who we have at 4 RAM, Seahawks, Cardinals, Niners.
- 38:28I think I'm more sold than the AFC East at this point.
- 38:30I think that conversation just talked me completely out of
- 38:32this. Really.
- 38:34Yeah, completely out of the NFC North.
- 38:36That Packer stat right there just talked to me completely out
- 38:39of the NSC North. Interesting.
- 38:41I don't know. I mean they.
- 38:42Were one of two divisions to even have the three teams in.
- 38:45But they do seem a little rocky, like you don't really know what
- 38:49you're going to get from any of those teams.
- 38:50And actually, I mean, you could say the Lions, but like
- 38:53statistically, I mean, how likely is it that they do as
- 38:55well as they did last season? And it's kind of like with Dak
- 38:59and Zeke their first year where it was like, oh, this is going
- 39:02to be I'm like guys like statistically that they weren't
- 39:04even rookies like that. Those were like, those were like
- 39:07first team, you know, guys. So it's like, and then I I
- 39:09realize that yeah, every year their stats just kind of.
- 39:13Yeah, every year, every year since then, they've looked like
- 39:15rookies. Yeah, yeah, OK.
- 39:18I'm I'm fine with it though. I just.
- 39:20Alright, it can change, that's fine.
- 39:23OK, so there were three. You want two or one first?
- 39:27I think I already know. Give us 2. #2 I have the AFC
- 39:32North of #2 with the Ravens, Bengals, Brown, Steelers and I
- 39:38understand I am high on the Steelers and nobody else's.
- 39:42Now it's a. Lot riding on it.
- 39:44Not a cycle person, loves the Steelers.
- 39:47I think I may be a bigger Steelers fan than your
- 39:49father-in-law, Jewel, than Megan.
- 39:52They all, they have the injuries out there this year.
- 39:55I may be higher on them. And my boy Will Howard, who may
- 39:59not even be the starting quarterback.
- 40:01But it's like Aaron Rodgers, right?
- 40:03That team does. Get better.
- 40:05It does get better with Aaron Rodgers on that roster.
- 40:08And if not, then Mike Tomlin, even though he's in year 100 and
- 40:11coaching, has taken rookie quarterbacks before and propped
- 40:15him up. And I do believe Ben Roth Spur
- 40:17won the Super Bowl in his work here, if I'm not mistaken.
- 40:20No, it wasn't. It wasn't his rookie year.
- 40:21No rookie quarterbacks ever won the Super Bowl as a starter.
- 40:25As a starter. Then it was very early on in his
- 40:29career that he won his first Super Bowl.
- 40:32I know that's that, 'cause I was, I was wondering if Jaden
- 40:35Daniels was going to be the first one to start in the Super
- 40:37Bowl. Cause no.
- 40:38Rookie No rookie quarterbacks ever started in the Super Bowl.
- 40:41So in his first year, Ben Roethlisher's QB record was 13
- 40:45and O That's pretty good, right? Played 14 game, played in 14
- 40:48games, started 13 of them, went 13 and O That's that's decent.
- 40:52Now granted, this team is not near the same as that team that
- 40:56they don't have near the weapons.
- 40:57I'm not trying to argue that this team has any amount as
- 41:00good, but it does prove the fact that coach also that was that
- 41:04was built power back then. That wasn't even, that wasn't
- 41:07even Tomlin, but that the Steelers can do it.
- 41:10And when my Talmud came in, he proved himself to be a good
- 41:14coach. I am still leaving this team
- 41:17here. The Ravens and Bengals almost
- 41:20seemed destined to make the playoffs every year.
- 41:21Even though the Bengals didn't make it last year, their defense
- 41:24couldn't stop anybody. They had the number one
- 41:27quarterback and #1 wide receiver on that team last year and
- 41:30they're still there this year. It'll just be about if that they
- 41:33can sneak that third team in. And I don't think it's going to
- 41:36be the Browns, never going to be the Browns.
- 41:39I think the Steelers have potential to do it, too.
- 41:42Maybe too high for the AFC North and all other people's opinions,
- 41:45but I like it. For me, that division has always
- 41:48been an iron sharpens iron division.
- 41:50Yeah, that's true. Yeah.
- 41:53OK, so that leaves the AFC West in the number one spot.
- 41:57It does. And before we switch the AFC
- 41:59West, just as as point of reference, the Browns who got
- 42:02three wins, two of them were against the AFC North.
- 42:06They are a division that is going to sharpen themselves for
- 42:09the future that does live the AFC West, which again goes back
- 42:13to our AFC or AFC North conversation with this division.
- 42:17Had three teams last year at the playoffs with Chiefs, Broncos,
- 42:21see the Chiefs, Chargers, Broncos.
- 42:22And the haircut never made it. Haircuts still won't make it
- 42:25this year, but. You're not going with Cody's
- 42:28prediction? I, I really like the Raiders.
- 42:31I really do like the Raiders. I think their ceiling is a wild
- 42:35card spot, but I don't think that's real.
- 42:38I, I don't think they're actually going to hit their
- 42:39ceiling. They were O and six in division
- 42:42last year. They did not win a single
- 42:43divisional game and that does not bode well for the for the
- 42:46next year. Although it's new regime, new
- 42:48quarterback, new head coach, new running back, new everything
- 42:53except haircut that's the same, but I still think they have the
- 42:56highest probability. You know, this conversation
- 42:59makes me think that there actually might not be any
- 43:01divisions that get three teams. That's kind of what I was
- 43:07thinking about while we were talking about this.
- 43:09That's why it's most likely not guaranteed.
- 43:12Yeah, I think it's a real possibility that there's not any
- 43:15divisions that has three teams this year.
- 43:17Let's let's make predictions right now.
- 43:20If you had to pick one, which division is the one division
- 43:24that has three teams to make the playoffs?
- 43:26I'm going to go bold. I'm going to go AFC East.
- 43:28AFC East. I'm going to I'm going to make a
- 43:30bold prediction. Go AFC East.
- 43:32There's a one division. There's a bold prediction.
- 43:34One division that's never done it.
- 43:36So you're saying bills wait? Let me, let me, let me put a,
- 43:39let me put an if in there if Tua is healthy all all season.
- 43:45Oh, OK, that's fair. Oh, Howard, that's the same
- 43:48thing as Will with Will Howard. If they if they don't sign your
- 43:51address. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 43:53If. Tour.
- 43:53Is. Healthy.
- 43:55If Tour is healthy, I'm going with AFC.
- 43:57East Avery already made this prediction with the AFC East.
- 44:00You doubled down on that bad boy.
- 44:02You said the AFC. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, you're
- 44:05right. Yeah, I thought.
- 44:06I was talking about different deepers like.
- 44:08I listen to the show we record currently.
- 44:11I don't remember what happened 1/2 hour ago.
- 44:14Well, honestly, I would say on in addition to the NFC East,
- 44:18honestly, I think I might pull at the AFC North above the AFC
- 44:22West simply simply because I, even though I said, I think I
- 44:28said in a previous episode that I think the Steelers weren't
- 44:31going to make the playoffs. I remember.
- 44:35That was last episode. Because you said you you
- 44:37specifically said because Will Howard is garbage.
- 44:40Yeah. If they get Aaron Rodgers, I
- 44:44think they get. I think the NFC North gets 3I
- 44:47and I think there's no way to test this, but I think they're
- 44:49more probable than the AFC West, mainly because of the Raiders.
- 44:52And I have doubts about the Chargers.
- 44:57Fair. I think they might not make it.
- 45:00And also how? Wild.
- 45:01I know we've talked about this before, but the Chiefs with a 59
- 45:04point differential. On top.
- 45:09Of their division and the other team have like twice as many
- 45:13points as they've scored. 15 and 2 was a 59 point win
- 45:17differential. Yeah, they really just did not
- 45:19care during the regular season. Well, because Avery took both
- 45:22the NFC East and NFC North, so that's cool for him.
- 45:25I'm glad he did that for me. I will go with the NFC North.
- 45:33I will double down with this NFC North.
- 45:35I don't know what's happening with the Vikings, but I think a
- 45:38pitch could easily be made for a veteran quarterback even.
- 45:43Oh, I don't know how I feel about this, but I'll say it
- 45:45anyway. Even if they traded with the
- 45:47Panthers for like Andy Dalton or somebody who has proved
- 45:50themselves as a good enough quarterback, you're not looking
- 45:53for a good quarterback. You're looking for a good enough
- 45:55quarterback. And not that JJ McCarthy is not
- 45:58that, but the team that the Vikings currently have.
- 46:00Just somebody to do enough. That's what Sam Darnold was last
- 46:04year and enough got into 14 and 3 and got some real leaders on
- 46:07that team. So you don't even need like, you
- 46:10don't even need like the chief head guy to come in there and be
- 46:13the guy because you got Harrison Smith coming to his 14th season
- 46:17leading your defense. You've got Justin Jefferson who
- 46:19has that locker room whipped into shape.
- 46:21I'm sure with the way he just is, he demands excellence for
- 46:25everybody. And so I I think that a good
- 46:27enough quarterback can come into the Vikings.
- 46:29And then and then the Packers have consistently gotten better
- 46:32year after year with Jordan Love.
- 46:33I don't think the Lions are really going that far down.
- 46:37I'm going to go NFC North. And you're going with the
- 46:40Vikings, not the Bears. I am going Vikings or Lions,
- 46:44Packers and then Vikings. I like that nobody.
- 46:47Wanted to pick the AFC. South.
- 46:48No, I will not be surprised if not one single team had ten wins
- 46:54in that division in either of the Souths.
- 46:56I think the NFC South winner is going to be have a losing record
- 46:58this year. Is that going on spreadsheet?
- 47:01Sure. Yeah.
- 47:02Spread me open, Daddy. OK.
- 47:05So let's get on to our our last topic here.
- 47:08So it was recently announced that NFL players will be allowed
- 47:12to participate in the Olympics. And So what we're going to do is
- 47:15we're going to build an Olympic roster with just NFL players
- 47:20because there's no, I guess there's no guarantee that NFL
- 47:23players will fill every spot on the roster, but we're going to
- 47:26build a roster with just NFL players.
- 47:29So just a breakdown of the positions here.
- 47:31So there it's five on five for Olympic flag football.
- 47:35The positions on offense are quarterback, running back, slash
- 47:39receiver. So there's 3 running back slash
- 47:41receivers, I guess, and then a center who can be anybody
- 47:45because the center can go out for a pass.
- 47:47And then on defense, you have a designated rusher and then four
- 47:50secondary players if you want to just break that up into two
- 47:52corners and two safeties. So a couple things to know with
- 47:55the Olympic flag football rules. So there's 220 minute halves.
- 47:59They're playing on a field that is 70 yards by 25 yards, but
- 48:03twenty of those 70 yards are the end zone, so 10 for each end
- 48:07zone. So it's actually a 50 yard
- 48:09field. But the rules how this is set up
- 48:12right now is you can only have one player from every NFL team
- 48:16to be on the Olympic roster. We're going to go through and
- 48:20we're going to pick our ideal guy for each spot.
- 48:22So we're just going to go around, we're going to each pick
- 48:24a guy and then we're going to decide on one guy to fill that
- 48:27spot. So Avery, we'll start with you.
- 48:30You can pick whatever position you want to start with and let
- 48:33us know who your ideal guy for that position would be.
- 48:35I'm. Going to go with quarterback.
- 48:37I'm going to and I, I don't even know how I feel about this.
- 48:41I'm actually very curious to hear what you guys feel about
- 48:43this. I like Jaden Daniels for the
- 48:45quarterback. Part of my criteria for this was
- 48:48like, who's young and spry? Yeah.
- 48:52Oh. My I'll bet Ted Johnson would
- 48:54crush in this. Oh yeah, you got to keep in mind
- 48:59too that it's three years down the road, so these players are
- 49:02going to be 3 years older by the time they would make this
- 49:04roster. So that's true.
- 49:06Jaden Daniels would only be 27 at the time for the most.
- 49:09Part I was just looking at like the youngest players and who's
- 49:11just fast, who's quick I. I put Lamar Jackson down, but I
- 49:17think Jane Daniels, because of age, is actually a better pick.
- 49:20Yeah. Lamar's going to be 31.
- 49:22Yeah. So, I mean, they're both great.
- 49:24Lamar would have been. My second choice but.
- 49:25Another rule to keep in mind with the quarterbacks, a
- 49:28quarterback can only run past the line of scrimmage after
- 49:31handing the ball off and receiving a lateral pass.
- 49:35So you cannot just take off and run.
- 49:38But you do have to be able to escape your rusher who is going
- 49:42to start 7 yards away from you and he's just going to basically
- 49:45have a free rush. All he has to do is just go
- 49:47around the center who's just snapping the ball.
- 49:49So you still have to be able to move.
- 49:50You can't just stand there and throw the ball so real quick
- 49:53logistically. The way to get around that is
- 49:57you hike the ball, you snap the ball to your running back and
- 50:01the running back pitches it backwards to your quarterback
- 50:03and your quarterback can throw it or run it either way.
- 50:07So that is easily gone around. But you're not wrong that that
- 50:11guy has to be able to get get around and move and still throw
- 50:13the ball because by the time if you if your running back.
- 50:16Gets it first and then you're doing the lateral.
- 50:19How far is that rusher? Like how, how far is he going
- 50:22to? Is he going to be 3 yards away
- 50:24from you, one yard away from you?
- 50:25Depends on how fast he is. So yes, you still got to account
- 50:29for that. If that's what you're going to
- 50:30do to to right off the bat to start the play, yes.
- 50:33So it sounds like we're all in agreeance on Jane Daniels for
- 50:35quarterback. Yeah, cool.
- 50:38All right, will give us pick whatever position.
- 50:41That's left and give us your guy.
- 50:43Everyone was supposed to keep moving down the list, right?
- 50:44Running back? I'm going Devon Acne from Miami.
- 50:49I don't think that's how you say his last name.
- 50:50I do not care. A cane, A chain.
- 50:53Whatever it is, the Miami, the Miami running back, we know who
- 50:57I'm talking about. He is 20, 425, something like
- 51:03that. That is also who I picked, just
- 51:06for the record. Oh cool, I did something right.
- 51:09Except prancing his name. Let's see.
- 51:11He's 23 currently in. My bad.
- 51:12So in three years, he'll be 26. He had the highest receiving
- 51:16yards of all the running backs in the in the league last year.
- 51:20And that's where they were trying to matter.
- 51:21Because if flag football, are you really handing the football
- 51:23off or are you going to throw it to your running back?
- 51:26Yeah, I agree. Avery, did you have?
- 51:28Did you have the same guy or you have somebody else?
- 51:30Nope, same guy. No, I didn't.
- 51:33I didn't have. Acne.
- 51:36Oh, who did you have? Well, what I mean, it's not
- 51:39like. I have a specific spot, but I
- 51:41mean, I have someone else that could have filled that position.
- 51:44I had Travis Hunter, I think, I think he would be awesome in
- 51:49flag football, I think. And I think you could kind of
- 51:51put him anywhere. I think he would be.
- 51:53I mean, just maybe just his size, you could put him
- 51:56anywhere. I think he'd be great and he'd
- 51:58still be very young, the youngest guys out there.
- 52:01I have him in my safety spot. I had him as AI, had him as a
- 52:06backup. Choice.
- 52:06So it sounds like he'll make the.
- 52:08List somewhere. Now we got to keep in mind they
- 52:11these. NFL guys in three years from
- 52:13now, they still have to try out for the team.
- 52:15There is currently an NFL or excuse me, and AUSA national
- 52:20team for fly football who competes in tournaments and, and
- 52:24things like that. Currently, like we have to date
- 52:27today, but like this year, they will compete regularly for
- 52:31medals and things like that. So they're going to have to go
- 52:33in, learn a new game and and try to beat these guys out of their
- 52:39current spots. I'm curious.
- 52:41This is a little bit of a. Break in the action.
- 52:45I've been thinking about this the whole time.
- 52:47What is? Because on one hand I'm seeing
- 52:49it as like, oh, you have college players that played basketball
- 52:53for a long time and then they started losing.
- 52:54And so like we'll put in the pros, but it's the still the
- 52:57same game. And so it was a translated very
- 52:59well. And with this, at first I was
- 53:01thinking, oh, these are NFL guys.
- 53:03These are the cream of the crop. Of course they'll crush.
- 53:06But then I'm like, you know, this is a very different game.
- 53:08This isn't, you know, the way that you get in there.
- 53:10You're not trying to tackle. You're just it's it's hand eye
- 53:12coordination to be able to grab a flag.
- 53:14How much do you think the current guys that are already
- 53:19basically like, you know, great at this flag football game?
- 53:22Do you think it's likely that the NFL players completely
- 53:26overtake them, or do you think that they're skill sets that
- 53:29these guys have that would actually actually beat out NFL
- 53:33players? There are skill sets that these
- 53:35guys have. That will beat out NFL players,
- 53:38but on the flip side, I think that they will take the NFL
- 53:41players over the current roster due to publicity, money and
- 53:46publicity. It is in LA, it's, it's similar
- 53:49games, LA 28. So it's in America.
- 53:53We've got America's American football everything that's that
- 53:57you know, they're, they're going to put the biggest and brightest
- 54:00NFL stars on the field for flag football.
- 54:03And the problem is, is that they're going to get beat
- 54:06because the rest of the world doesn't give a RIP about that.
- 54:09And they just want to win gold and they don't care.
- 54:12Whereas basketball, your game translates a lot.
- 54:15The NBA guys have to learn a new game because it's it's it's kind
- 54:18of different with a different rule set and the goaltending
- 54:21this this is a whole new sport. If if we're really looking.
- 54:24At it, This isn't even really football anymore.
- 54:26I mean, you've gone to a whole. It's a whole different thing.
- 54:29There's so many new rules that they're going to have to learn
- 54:31and. Try to to do to anything with
- 54:36they're going to have to use a fly football coach.
- 54:39I can't imagine a NFL coach is going to give up their summer
- 54:43for their team to go learn a new game on how to coach flag
- 54:47football, learn how to coach flag football, and then try to
- 54:50deal with all these different NFL personalities.
- 54:52It's going to be an interesting experiment, if nothing else.
- 54:55OK, so back to the players. So.
- 54:57OK. So Avery, are you fine with, I
- 55:00believe it's pronounced Devon HN.
- 55:03Thanks. Appreciate that.
- 55:04I'm cool with that. Yeah.
- 55:05At running back OK. So.
- 55:07Will, would you want to put Travis under that receiver?
- 55:10I don't have him at receiver, but if you.
- 55:12Look at the if you look at the national team roster, every
- 55:15single person has more than one position.
- 55:17It is, it is DB slash wide receiver, it is QE/DB.
- 55:23Like every single person has more than one position to their
- 55:25name. So I'm, I have no issue with him
- 55:28playing both sides. I have no issue with him taking
- 55:31a roster spot as receiver. I I just didn't do it, OK,
- 55:35Because, yeah, I mean, there's only.
- 55:36Ten players, so there's like almost no depth.
- 55:38There's there is no depth, right?
- 55:40Do you guys want to put in that corner or do you want to?
- 55:42Fill. His spot at receiver, I actually
- 55:44had him at safety, not corner. I actually I like what will.
- 55:48I like safety. Safety.
- 55:49OK, we can put him in I. Think his receiver skills.
- 55:53Make him a better safety than corner.
- 55:55Now he has incredible corner skills, but I think that he is a
- 56:00read and react in the open field is going to suit his skill set
- 56:04best. OK, we'll put him in a safety.
- 56:07All right, so I'm going to go ahead and pick my receiver.
- 56:13So my first receiver is Amonra St.
- 56:17Brown from the Lions. And the reason why is because.
- 56:20He's a guy who? Catches the ball with like very
- 56:25close. Yeah, yes, he is.
- 56:27There's a guy. He's the guy who plays.
- 56:29Football. He goes to his balls.
- 56:31Dude out of the. Air.
- 56:33He catches the ball very close to the line of.
- 56:35Scrimmage and then he just does his work from there.
- 56:39So I, I, I do have another guy for a receiver who's a over the
- 56:43top type of guy. But I also have Amanra St.
- 56:46Brown who's the guy who catches the ball close to the line of
- 56:48scrimmage and then goes to work from there because he only
- 56:51averages 11.3 yards per catch. But a lot of those catches are
- 56:55right at the line of scrimmage or behind the line of scrimmage.
- 56:58So I feel like especially with if you have a free rusher who's
- 57:01only 7 yards away, if that guy runs a 4344, he's going to be in
- 57:05the quarterback's face pretty fast.
- 57:07And so you're going to need a guy who's that underneath guy to
- 57:09throw to. And I think that's Aman Racine
- 57:11Brown. I like that.
- 57:13That's cool. Yeah, I didn't even.
- 57:14Think of that. That is not what I had for my
- 57:17close receiver. But I do like that a lot.
- 57:19Who did you pick as your receiver?
- 57:21I went a bit. Off script, this guy is not.
- 57:23Currently in the NFL, but he will be by the time of the
- 57:27Olympics and I went with Jeremiah Smith, Ohio State
- 57:30University. He's a big body who catches the
- 57:34ball close to the line of scrimmage a lot and just makes
- 57:37plays over and over and over again.
- 57:39I think he is an incredible talent.
- 57:41He will be in the NFL at the time of the Olympics.
- 57:44I think that he will be an incredible asset.
- 57:47Now, I don't know what team he's going to play for.
- 57:49And so that's the only like caveat here.
- 57:50But Jeremiah Smith's, who I had is my slot, I guess, receiver.
- 57:55OK. Do you want to call us that?
- 57:56Real quick question. That's not on the subject, just
- 57:58you don't have to. Explain why, Just tell me yes or
- 57:59no When he goes into the NFL, if he keeps his trend of what he's
- 58:03done so far in his first year, would you pick him number one
- 58:06overall? No.
- 58:07Yo, so you hate him, yes or no? You can't say anything else, OK?
- 58:10Yep. Hate him.
- 58:11Hate him. Hate him.
- 58:11Hate him. Hey, hey.
- 58:12Hey, hey, hey, double hate entirely.
- 58:16I think I would if he continues what he's done.
- 58:19I think I would, but OK, so OK, next guy, Avery, who would you
- 58:22pick? Who would you pick as our second
- 58:24receiver? I think there are better
- 58:26choices. I was looking at Jamar Chase.
- 58:30I really wanted Jamar Chase, but for flag I'm going Tes Johnson.
- 58:35Going Tes Johnson that that boy is slippery.
- 58:39I think he's got that lateral movement speed.
- 58:41Also honorable mention. This is kind of will.
- 58:46It kind of made me think about it.
- 58:48Ryan Williams out of Alabama. OK yeah, that would be an
- 58:52interesting one too. He's got a little bit of that
- 58:54Tez body, but of course he's, you know, kids 18 and that's The
- 58:57thing is that these small framed.
- 58:59Guys are perfect for flag football.
- 59:01Yeah, that's true. They're perfect.
- 59:03I actually. Didn't think about that.
- 59:05If it was. 20 years ago I'd be saying Darren.
- 59:07Sprobes. If it was 10 years ago, I would
- 59:09have said Ryan Switzer. I would have.
- 59:12I don't think most people even know who Ryan Switzer is besides
- 59:14me. And you, Avery, I know.
- 59:18Will. Do you want to go TES, will, or
- 59:19do you have somebody else? I like TES a lot, especially if
- 59:22we were to go. And really you don't need an oh,
- 59:26and it feels not big enough for an over the top receiver.
- 59:28That's the only thing I'm hung up on.
- 59:31We're 25 yards wide. I do have Jamar Chase that needs
- 59:34to be 28, maybe 29 at the time of Olympics.
- 59:36So he's not really that old. He's 6 foot fast, can jump, can
- 59:40do all the things. I also started to rat in my
- 59:42brain. And what basketball players
- 59:43would want to do this? If we want a big body, let's get
- 59:46Shaq out there. You take 25 steps down the
- 59:49field, you just reach that big old pop and you just catch the
- 59:52football pal. You don't need any yards after
- 59:55they catch. I don't need you to move
- 59:57anywhere. Well, let me throw this name in.
- 59:59Then. Let me throw this name.
- 1:00:00In then Brian Thomas junior 64205 had a great rookie season
- 1:00:04with the Jaguars yeah absolutely yes but like.
- 1:00:08My first thought was Victor Women.
- 1:00:10That's what I was about to say. He's not.
- 1:00:13He wouldn't play for the American football team.
- 1:00:16Could you, I mean I, I guess. I just don't know the different.
- 1:00:19Exploits in flag football. But I mean, if you just put in a
- 1:00:2276 dude and put him out, I mean, you can't tackle him.
- 1:00:25Like is there a way to stop that?
- 1:00:28No, there's not. There's not.
- 1:00:30Because at that point, like, why do you even?
- 1:00:32You just need. Tall guys that can catch?
- 1:00:34I'm just wondering if there's a way to counter that.
- 1:00:37Yeah, speed, right? So like, speed's going.
- 1:00:39To win out over a week, but I mean, as long as you've got
- 1:00:42enough blockers or enough. Time.
- 1:00:44If the guy gets out there, there's no time.
- 1:00:45That's the thing. So there's no time.
- 1:00:47Because you have 7 yards. That the rusher.
- 1:00:50Is 7 yards off of you and he's coming immediately.
- 1:00:53Giannis. Giannis.
- 1:00:56Again, dude, not. Giannis, for your center, for
- 1:00:59sure we can do that. We can build myself.
- 1:01:01I meant for receiver. We can build the well, I'll go
- 1:01:06back to why Yannis will be your center.
- 1:01:08We could build the best basketball, fly football,
- 1:01:10rafter. They want to.
- 1:01:12That's what they're going to do now.
- 1:01:13They're going to play for weapon.
- 1:01:14Is going to go play for France and go play for Greece and
- 1:01:18they're going to beat USA. That's what I said.
- 1:01:24It's not going to play for the American team.
- 1:01:26That's the thing I have not checked at all.
- 1:01:28Is, is origin of birth on these guys?
- 1:01:31If they would want to play for a different national team, they're
- 1:01:32not allowed to play. Sorry, can't do it.
- 1:01:34No way for players. Yeah, all right.
- 1:01:36Are are we going to with Tez? Are we going with Tez?
- 1:01:38I like Tez a lot. I didn't even think about Tez.
- 1:01:41But I like Tez a lot. The only other guy that I.
- 1:01:44Considered was Xavier worthy because he's a small, very fast
- 1:01:47guy. I like Justin Jefferson a lot
- 1:01:49too, but. Age is going to be a problem as
- 1:01:51you as you do three years from now, age is going to be an
- 1:01:53issue. It'd be like what, 29/8?
- 1:01:56That's too old. Sorry.
- 1:01:57Can't do it. Can't.
- 1:01:59We got one. But yeah, I'm, I'm OK with Tez
- 1:02:01though, all right? Will give us your center.
- 1:02:04I have Harold Fannin Junior. At center, because remember, the
- 1:02:09center can go out and catch the ball.
- 1:02:10Harold Fannon Junior is 6 foot three.
- 1:02:12That dude catches. He's shifty.
- 1:02:14He's a big body who's going to be able to stay in the block.
- 1:02:1764230 He's going to be able to stay in and block your rusher if
- 1:02:21he needs to. But he's also got hands out of
- 1:02:23this world and can move after the catch.
- 1:02:26Harold Fannon junior, what about you, Avery?
- 1:02:29That's who I had. Really.
- 1:02:31Yeah. OK.
- 1:02:32I had Brock Bowers, that would be good too.
- 1:02:35He's he's 642. 30 runs A45. But I'm OK with fan and I think
- 1:02:39that's a good pick. I like it actually, that we're
- 1:02:41not picking just the best players for every position.
- 1:02:44Yeah, because we haven't. At all.
- 1:02:49OK, so on the. Defense, I'll start.
- 1:02:51With the rusher I picked, Micah Parsons.
- 1:02:54Same, damn it. Yeah.
- 1:02:57He. He.
- 1:02:58Runs a. 43940 I mean, who else are you going to get that?
- 1:03:01That's that, that's that is truly the only name I've ever.
- 1:03:04Seen thrown around for the rusher for the US flag football
- 1:03:07team is Michael Parsons. I'm like, yeah, I don't even
- 1:03:10know who else I would want out there doing it.
- 1:03:13And that, that is right up, Michael.
- 1:03:16Parsons Alley, too. Attention media, that.
- 1:03:21Whole type of. Thing yes, that is right up his
- 1:03:24alley. So it sounds like we're all in
- 1:03:26agreement on on Micah Parsons. All right, who would you pick at
- 1:03:32corner Avery. I like Cooper to Jean.
- 1:03:37I consider that might be that might be recency bias though.
- 1:03:40Yeah, I did not write his name down, but I.
- 1:03:42Really, really considered it. I did consider it.
- 1:03:48Can I just throw this out just as a?
- 1:03:51As a rule for the secondary is you know it does matter if you
- 1:03:57get turnovers in flag football because if you get a turnover on
- 1:04:02downs you're often starts at their own 5 yard line versus if
- 1:04:06you get an interception, you're starting where you get the ball,
- 1:04:08like where you're down. So that does matter to.
- 1:04:12Get turnovers. So just to throw that out there
- 1:04:15for the secondary will, who did you pick?
- 1:04:18I. Had.
- 1:04:19Pass retained as my first. Corner.
- 1:04:21That's what I picked as well. He's the front runner.
- 1:04:23For it right now. His his ball skills, his his man
- 1:04:28to man coverage. I feel it's going to be huge and
- 1:04:29flying football. You're only 25 yards wide, sure,
- 1:04:33but there's been still going to be a lot of openings and for
- 1:04:35especially for quick movement. So you need guys who are going
- 1:04:37to come up, press cover hard and and then move on.
- 1:04:40If again, if this were 20 years ago, Champ Bailey would be top
- 1:04:43of my list no doubt, but same team.
- 1:04:46Different era. Pass Retain.
- 1:04:48Yeah, I I really think we should put him.
- 1:04:51On the team, if you're cool with that, Avery, I mean, I don't I'm
- 1:04:54not ruling out Des gene for the second corner spot at all, but I
- 1:04:57think that you got to have a shutdown guy in the secondary
- 1:05:00and I think it's it's him for my second corner.
- 1:05:05I picked Derek Stingley junior. Holy cow.
- 1:05:11And the reason? Why is the turnover?
- 1:05:13Thing So in the last two seasons he has had 10 interceptions, 5
- 1:05:17in each year. And again, those matter because
- 1:05:21if you get the turnover on downs, your offense is at the
- 1:05:23five yard line versus wherever you're down after getting an
- 1:05:26interception. So not only is he one of the
- 1:05:28best corners in the NFL right now, he gets a lot of turnovers.
- 1:05:33So that's why I picked him. What do you think will I went
- 1:05:36with sauce? He has of his man coverage
- 1:05:37ability. And his turnover rates?
- 1:05:39Not as high as it used to be. And three years from now, he'll
- 1:05:41be even older. I'm here with him not being
- 1:05:43there. I just kind of defaulted to him
- 1:05:45because I was just thinking about man coverage corners, but
- 1:05:47I I'm good with him not being there.
- 1:05:49OK, so the question is. Then it sounds like with Corner,
- 1:05:53we're down to Cooper, to Jean and Derek Stingley.
- 1:05:56Junior Avery, did you have Stingley as one of you guys as
- 1:05:59well or? Yeah, Yeah.
- 1:06:01OK. Yeah.
- 1:06:03So my other choice was Troy Palamalu.
- 1:06:06Oh, I'm into. That.
- 1:06:10If again, again, if this were 20 years ago, Ed Reed and Troy
- 1:06:14Palabalu as our rushers, not corners, not safeties, as the
- 1:06:18rusher, that is what you want. That is the good guy you want.
- 1:06:22Absolutely. I mean, if it's not Michael,
- 1:06:25Fred Warner's the next guy, right?
- 1:06:27He's for sure the next guy up. OK, so we'll break the tie here
- 1:06:31on the. Corner, OH.
- 1:06:34I don't know. I'm I'm going with Stingley.
- 1:06:37I'm not going. Dejean didn't have the turnovers
- 1:06:39in the regular season and that that matters.
- 1:06:42I'd go with Stingley over to Jean.
- 1:06:44I just like. Dejean.
- 1:06:45OK, OK. I also like Dejean.
- 1:06:47I think he would make a good. Personality on the team, I think
- 1:06:50he would be good for the team as a whole.
- 1:06:52I'm good with carrying him as an alternate at minimum, but yeah,
- 1:06:56I like him. OK.
- 1:06:57So we already put Travis Hunter in one of the safety.
- 1:06:59Spots so will who would you have as your other safety?
- 1:07:04I have Tariq Woollen. 6 foot 4 Tariq Woollen, 6 four, 210 lbs.
- 1:07:12That's just what you want back there.
- 1:07:13You want a guy who's going to read the ball and has the height
- 1:07:16to get over people. He's a really good fit for that.
- 1:07:20What about you, Avery? Maxwell, Harrison.
- 1:07:22Rookie. Yeah, I like him.
- 1:07:26Part of this is just. I think maybe I got a little
- 1:07:29caught up in like this is 3 years from now, which is why I
- 1:07:33was going with Travis Hunter and Tez.
- 1:07:34I was also thinking Quinny and Mitchell, but I didn't want to
- 1:07:38go with the Eagles again because I don't know.
- 1:07:40I think that wasn't that one of the roles can't go twice the
- 1:07:43same team. Yeah.
- 1:07:44And I don't think we've done that.
- 1:07:46Yet, No, we haven't done that yet.
- 1:07:49So I'm going to throw out a couple names.
- 1:07:50So we're going to have to pick between these.
- 1:07:52I'm going to throw out two names here.
- 1:07:54So one guy I considered is Kyle Hamilton, safety for the Ravens
- 1:07:58cuz he's 64, he's 225, he's a big safety and so I just think
- 1:08:03if you need a guy on your defense who's going to cover the
- 1:08:05Wimpin Yamas of flag football, then go Kyle Hamilton.
- 1:08:11The other guy I considered, he's actually a coroner, but I
- 1:08:13consider him for safety, is Deron Bland for the Dallas
- 1:08:17Cowboys. And the reason I picked him is
- 1:08:19because he had five interceptions in his first year.
- 1:08:22He had nine in his second year. He didn't have any last year,
- 1:08:25but he was hurt for majority of the year.
- 1:08:27But in his second year when he had 9 interceptions, he broke
- 1:08:30the record for most pick sixes in a season in the NFL.
- 1:08:35Like tied it or broke it. He broke it.
- 1:08:38That's actually impressive, I feel like.
- 1:08:39Everyone just ties. Those kind of records, you don't
- 1:08:42ever get money. He had five pick sixes which.
- 1:08:46Is the most on 9 interceptions. Which is the most?
- 1:08:50Sixes in a season. I want to know who The Who the
- 1:08:52last quarterback was. To throw him a pick. 6 and
- 1:08:55everyone looking at him like dude, why are you throwing the
- 1:08:58ball that direction? Oh jeez.
- 1:09:03So yeah, we've got. Four guys and we.
- 1:09:05Need to pick one the Ron Bland runs A442.
- 1:09:09Who else? We got Kyle Hamilton.
- 1:09:11Sounds like a NASCAR driver. Kyle Hamilton runs A4. 59 Sorry.
- 1:09:15You're out. OK, it's speed wins.
- 1:09:19In flight football. OK, speed.
- 1:09:20Agility wins in flight. We'll get rid of Hamilton.
- 1:09:23Got Quinn Young. Mitchell, right.
- 1:09:25Yeah, Quinn Young Mitchell 433 OK.
- 1:09:28Moving in the first place. Who was the last guy?
- 1:09:30Maxwell Harriston. He was also very fast. 4. 28 SI
- 1:09:34and he's a rookie. All right, well, I feel like now
- 1:09:38he doesn't have the size 40 time bias, 40 time bias.
- 1:09:42For sure. He's only 511 and that does
- 1:09:45create, especially if we've got Travis Hunter back there.
- 1:09:48You do not have a single person over 6 foot in your Sailor
- 1:09:51safety section. That does create an issue, but
- 1:09:54the flag football participants currently in the USA roster are
- 1:09:59not large humans. So speed wins and flag football
- 1:10:03and pure athleticism wins, which is why I tried to center on a
- 1:10:07spot. He's fear.
- 1:10:07I thought this was going to win out.
- 1:10:09So OK, I'm fine with with going with the 40 times.
- 1:10:12Yeah, OK, that's well Harriston. So here's our.
- 1:10:16Our final roster. Jayden Daniels at quarterback,
- 1:10:20Devon at HN at running back. Wide receiver is Amanra St.
- 1:10:25Brown and Tez Johnson. We've got Harold Finn and Junior
- 1:10:28at center. Our rusher is Micah Parsons.
- 1:10:31We've got Pat Surtain and Derek Stingley.
- 1:10:33Junior as our corners and Maxwell Hairston and Travis
- 1:10:36Hunter as our safeties. Are we winning gold?
- 1:10:39I said it's gold, but I'm saying win, yeah, because.
- 1:10:41It's not about the. It's not about the.
- 1:10:43Popularity. I know zero knowledge about how
- 1:10:46flight. Football actually works.
- 1:10:48I'm excited to watch that though.
- 1:10:49That's going to be fun, yeah. It's going to be a long that's
- 1:10:52going to be. As long as the basketball
- 1:10:54tournament like it's going to, yeah, games are going to be
- 1:10:57happening and you're going to have no idea.
- 1:10:58It's going to be like South Sudan versus Kenya, flag
- 1:11:02football. And it's like, what is
- 1:11:03happening? Who are these people?
- 1:11:06Saudi Arabia versus North Korea. Let me ask, does any?
- 1:11:09Does any? Other country even stand a
- 1:11:11chance here. Yes, I truly think so.
- 1:11:14Just like in basketball, you get players from America who won't
- 1:11:19make the American team, who will go to back to their homelands
- 1:11:23and or national origin teams and they will play for them.
- 1:11:27And other countries don't care as much about the big name.
- 1:11:31They just want to win. And America definitely cares
- 1:11:34about the big name. And so these other teams are
- 1:11:36going to have better team chemistry and better
- 1:11:39understanding of the way the game works and the nuances in
- 1:11:41it. And so that's going to give them
- 1:11:43an actual advantage over Team USA.
- 1:11:46This this does seem a little bit.
- 1:11:48Like a little call back here. The Sprague, I can't remember,
- 1:11:52it was racquetball or badminton or something, but they won
- 1:11:56nationals. Racquetball, racquetball, they
- 1:12:00won nationals, I think. I think it might have gotten a
- 1:12:03call. Out on the.
- 1:12:04Announcements one morning, but it's one of those things where
- 1:12:07it was like it just, it just, it would just came down to like
- 1:12:10which school decided to put together a team?
- 1:12:13And then which I, I think there was some other dude from Saint
- 1:12:15Louis who won like the individual award, but Sprague
- 1:12:18won nationals. And I feel like this is one of
- 1:12:20those sports where if a country actually just like invests in
- 1:12:25this, they can get guys that practice year round and get
- 1:12:30really good. It's not like basketball or
- 1:12:32something where you've got to know you've got to be the cream
- 1:12:34of the crop. Like talent might just win out
- 1:12:36regardless of how much you practice.
- 1:12:38I mean, because they're basically playing the same
- 1:12:39sport, whereas this is like you can get some NFL guys, but like,
- 1:12:43realistically, how much time can you get them all together to
- 1:12:46practice this? And I think that another country
- 1:12:49could get guys that are just dedicated to this to the point
- 1:12:52where they've got it just down. So I in that respect, I would be
- 1:12:56a little worried. It's really just a bunch of fast
- 1:12:58dudes unless you go the tall route, which I'm really curious
- 1:13:01to see. All right, well, there you.
- 1:13:04Have our our 2028 flag football Olympic roster and that's all we
- 1:13:10have time for today on the show. But next week we have Avery's
- 1:13:13cousin coming on the show who is a Seahawks fan.
- 1:13:16So we're going to talk about the Seahawks, we're going to talk
- 1:13:17about the NFC West, and we're going to talk about which
- 1:13:21ringless quarterback will be the next one to win a championship.
- 1:13:26So stay tuned for that. And as always, don't forget to
- 1:13:29keep your balls played with. We'll see you next time.
