- 1:10give it out for Cassie Ashton. Hey, thanks for coming out hanging out
- 1:18with for a little bit. Oh my gosh, yeah, thank you for
- 1:19having me. Uh so you've done I mean a bunch of cmafest by now
- 1:23you know when was like your first one and like whether it was that your
- 1:26fan or you know, as an artist. Yeah, I think my first
- 1:30CMA fest was twenty eighteen. I had just signed my record deal. I
- 1:36played inside the lobby of the Bridge Stone. I was freaking out, but
- 1:41we got it done and ever since then it gets better and better every year.
- 1:45Well you know it's crazy too, because yeah, I know exactly what
- 1:47stage you're talking about. Now you do this and you have kind of a
- 1:49busy next couple of days or busy next couple of days. Yeah, but
- 1:53at least it's always like the hottest day, it's actually not that hot.
- 1:57I feel like these next couple of days, it's always like super super humid.
- 2:00It actually feels pretty good, I mean not cool. You know,
- 2:01it feels pretty good though not bad. Until you're like running around the stage
- 2:06throwing your hair around, and you're just like, I've never been hotter in
- 2:08my life. But we're making it hugs. I can't relate it, so
- 2:13tweaty hugs all around. We were talking about this earlier when we were upstairs.
- 2:16So you you make a lot of your own clothes? Or where did
- 2:19you go recently? New York City? Oh? Yeah, so I went.
- 2:22I just went to New York last weekend. And did anyone in here
- 2:24watch Project runway back in the day? No, that lady great. You
- 2:30and me are friends and they used to go to this fabric store called Mood
- 2:35and it is like not your grandma's fabric store, Like this is not quilting
- 2:38material. There are three floors of fabric and I just like walked around and
- 2:43shocked. The entire bottom floor is like leather and fur, and I felt
- 2:47like I was in game of Thrones. I had a great time. That's
- 2:51awesome. You have a Brady song country radio I do called crazy, Call
- 2:55Crazy. Talk about that. You're obviously gonna be doing that here in a
- 2:58little bit, but talk about that song and kind of the inspiration for it.
- 3:00Is it a true story? Yeah? I mean it's always a true
- 3:04story. I think for every single girl in here. You any man who
- 3:07has ever called you crazy has called you again. It's not really like it's
- 3:14not really like a poetic flip or like a Nashville you know hook, It's
- 3:20just this is hard earned life experience. You you have a pretty exciting summer.
- 3:28You're playing Red Rocks with Parker McCollum. I am, yeah, I'm
- 3:32super excited. Parker is a great friend of mine, So to be able
- 3:36to play such an iconic venue with like someone that I love dearly, it's
- 3:40gonna be a blast. And when you are on the do you have like,
- 3:43what are like your road trip essentials, whether it's when you're on the
- 3:46bus or just even when you're just like on a road trip, what are
- 3:47there certain things like you have to have or else everything's all messed up,
- 3:51So definitely road trip essential, like for working on the road are snacks I
- 3:55have to eat all day long, Like it's just a a thing that keeps
- 4:00me going. I have to have all my jewelry or else I feel naked
- 4:05on stage. And I have to have when we're on the bus an aerobic
- 4:11trampoline, you know, like from the eighties that you would watch on the
- 4:14infomercials. I take one of those with me on the road and like sing
- 4:16and jump as exercise and all that gets me through the Yeah, yeah,
- 4:21like the little ones they fold up. It's great. That's awesome. So
- 4:26US is going. Obviously you're obviously writing and stuff. Where's kind of random?
- 4:30But where is the most like random place you've ever written a song or
- 4:32the most random idea that's ever popped up? Oh? I get most of
- 4:36my song ideas like either at one am when I can't sleep, or in
- 4:42my car in Nashville traffic. You hit a pothole and just like an idea
- 4:46pops in your head, you know, as the frame of your car gets
- 4:50dented from how deep the potholes are. I think, I think we don't
- 4:55ever say no to any song idea because we need so many of week that
- 4:59we just we keep it rolling. And if you're a good songwriter, you
- 5:00can write a song about toilet paper and it'd be good. And who are
- 5:03like your top I would say top three or top five? Like dream collabs,
- 5:08Well, it could be any format too, oh dream collabs. Well,
- 5:13I don't know, because I feel like all of my dream artists,
- 5:15I would never want to sing beside because I just would not be worthy.
- 5:18Like if Chris Stapleton asked me to do a duet, I think I would
- 5:21just faint on the floor instead of remembering my part, you know. Or
- 5:27if Eric Church was like, hey, Cas, come sing with me.
- 5:29I would have to have like three times the wheedies I normally do in the
- 5:32morning. And then also, since Beyonce has dipped her big toe into country,
- 5:36if she wanted me to like hold her purse while she saying I could
- 5:40do it, you wouldn't. You wouldn't say no to Beyonce no, But
- 5:43I would probably go mute after that. Kind of a couple of random rapid
- 5:48fire questions. If you could compare your music to any animal, what would
- 5:51it be? Any animal? Oh? Well, my friend asked me the
- 5:58other day what our band was coming up with? Who my spirit animal is?
- 6:00And we said a raven because they're dark and they hang out in cemeteries
- 6:05and they collect shiny things. So maybe that. And by the way,
- 6:11a raven and a crow are not the same thing. We had to google
- 6:14that crows are small and ravens are terrifying. So I'm a raven hopefully.
- 6:19What your first ever concert? What was it? Oh? My first concert
- 6:24was Rascal Flats. Yeah, life is a highway, you know what I'm
- 6:29saying. Yeah, that's awesome. Well, Cassie, thank you again for
- 6:32coming about you guys ready to hear Cassie do a couple of songs? All
- 6:35right, well'mna hop out of the way. Give it up one more time
- 6:38for Cassie Ashton. A little later that day, John Morgan stopped. I
- 6:41had to be our special guest in downtown Nashville. All right, y'all,
- 6:44welcome to this stage. Right here next to me, John Morgan's in the
- 6:46house. What's up, y'all. I'm gonna stand up because I'm pregnant and
- 6:51sitting down is not comfortable right now. But John, we're so excited for
- 6:56you to be a part of our iHeart Country House party today and we just
- 7:00kind of like to take a moment with the artists, because I feel like
- 7:03cmafes is such a cool way for fans to get up close and to say
- 7:08hi and to just get to know you a little better. So here in
- 7:11the front. If you guys have any questions, think of them. I'm
- 7:14gonna ask you here in just a minute as well. All right. Also,
- 7:17this QR code I almost forgot to tell you Nissan Stadium passes for tonight,
- 7:23Kelsey Ballerini, Luke, Bryan Parker, McCollum, so many more.
- 7:27Scan that QR code, get yourself enter to win. We'll announce the winner
- 7:30after john'stun performing. Sound good, Sound good? Here we go. All
- 7:38right, John, let's talk a little bit about you, because I feel
- 7:41like the last like six months or so have just been so exciting. How
- 7:45are you feeling on the inside just kind of I don't know. I feel
- 7:47like that one little blip in the radar that you just shoot up. Jason
- 7:51Alding had it taken you under his wing. What's it been like for you
- 7:55the last couple of months. Oh, it's been super busy, you know.
- 7:59I've been been traveling on the road, you know, playing shows,
- 8:03and in the middle of that trying to cut new songs, and yeah,
- 8:05it's been a lot, but I love it. I'm finally getting to,
- 8:09you know, do what I moved here to do. So it's awesome.
- 8:11Yeah, when you had that dream to move to Nashville and to kind of
- 8:15do this as a career, did you ever think you get to this moment
- 8:18right now? We're like, I'm at CMA best, I'm doing fun things.
- 8:22I get to actually do this. Yeah, I mean I was always
- 8:24hopeful, you know what I mean, But it's one of those things.
- 8:28It's just it's not real until it's real, you know. And so yeah,
- 8:31I'm super thankful to be able to do this and it's gonna be a
- 8:35good weekend. Man. So talk to us about this song that happened with
- 8:39Jason Aldie and I feel like a lot of people were introduced to you from
- 8:41that song. Those who were you know, forever fans obviously were all huge
- 8:46fans of him before that, but the ones who just have found you and
- 8:48just have to come to know you. Working with Jason Aldean on a song
- 8:52that, I mean, you'll hear it once and you know every word.
- 8:54So working on a song like that with Jason's gonna be pretty cool. It's
- 8:58really cool. I mean, you know, kind of the last two years
- 9:03of me being in Nashville was really heavily focused on songwriting, and so I
- 9:07was fortunate enough to get a couple of cuts with him over the last couple
- 9:11of years, which I'll be playing soon. But yeah, it's cool to
- 9:16you know, to have that and then now have him jump in on one
- 9:20of my songs. It is kind of returning the favor. It's pretty cool.
- 9:24If you could rewind back to say, like ten year old you and
- 9:26give yourself some advice to what you're experiencing now, would you have any advice
- 9:31to give yourself back then? A lot of advice? Yeah, I don't
- 9:35know. Probably, Honestly, I wouldn't change my story moving here. I
- 9:41feel like I moved here when I was I guess I was twenty four or
- 9:46twenty five, and I don't even know how old I am, But yeah,
- 9:50I think it was a good age for me, you know, I
- 9:52kind of I kind of went through some stuff that made me realize what I
- 9:56didn't want to do as a career, and so gave me a little drive
- 10:01to move here and actually, you know, pursue it full time. So
- 10:03I'm very thankful for that. Besides the heat, because I know that's everybody's
- 10:09favorite part of CMA Pest. What is your favorite part of CMA Pest?
- 10:15He said, the alcohol here. That's here all the time, buddy,
- 10:18I promise. Uh no. I just love getting to getting to play new
- 10:22music, getting to play songs that you know have been released already that you
- 10:28hopefully you guys will know, and I don't know. It's just super fun
- 10:31to have such a large but yet small community, you know here in Nashville
- 10:37one time, it's really cool. Well, you're about to go on tour
- 10:41later in September with Nate Smith. That's exciting. How did you get that
- 10:43phone call? Whoa, we got some Nate Smith fans in the house.
- 10:46Let's go, Yeah, let's go. When you got that phone call,
- 10:50was that was that just a casual conversation? Yeah? Yeah, it was
- 10:54funny because I actually met him for the first time, what was it two
- 10:58weeks ago, and uh, just the nicest guy ever. Everybody told me,
- 11:03oh, he's the nicest guy in the industry, is the nicest guy,
- 11:05And I'm like, that guy better be nice to be I'm gonna be
- 11:09pissed you know so he was. He's awesome guy. I'm very thankful I
- 11:13have that tour. It's gonna be fun. All right, y all,
- 11:15we got any fan questions here in the front. Anybody have a burning question
- 11:18for John It's okay if you don't. You got one right here? Who
- 11:24would you like to collaborate with? Dream collab? Like a current artist right
- 11:28now? I don't know if we're if we're going country Cody Johnson for sure?
- 11:35Yeah, yeah, y'all know, y'all know John and Cody collab.
- 11:39Hello, somebody put this on TikTok. Let's get it going. Okay,
- 11:43did you have a question over here? I thought I heard somebody raise your
- 11:46hand? You got one? Yeah? What whiskey do your drink? Is
- 11:50the question? It's a great question. I don't know. I usually uh
- 11:56yeah, I'm a tequila guy. He's right, he got me paid.
- 12:03I am a tequila but I don't know. Woodford is pretty good. I
- 12:05like Woodford. Yeah, yeah, that's good stuff. All right, say
- 12:09y'all. Well, I'm gonna get off the stage so he can do his
- 12:11thing. But make sure you tag at iaheard Country House Party on Instagram,
- 12:15Tequila, cowboy, all the things we want to repost all your videos from
