- 0:00How much silver should you own? That's a question we get all the
- 0:04time. Should you be very scared about
- 0:08what's going on right now in the US economy?
- 0:12We're going to give you some startling information that might
- 0:16just have something to do with your job and what is going on in
- 0:21the world that can tell us that we're in for brighter days for
- 0:26the silver price and the gold price, You're in the right place
- 0:36because today we're joined by our good friend coin shop.
- 0:40Chris, we're going to talk about first, how much silver should
- 0:45you own? Do we have a definitive answer
- 0:48for you? You're going to find out, Chris.
- 0:51Welcome to Ron's Basement. Ron, it's always good to be be
- 0:54back in the basement week after week.
- 0:56I love your channel, I love your viewers.
- 0:59I just like to take a moment to ask everybody to like, share and
- 1:02subscribe which one to get to 34,000 subscribers by February
- 1:0614th. So let's show Ron some love and
- 1:10I like to also put a warning out there for people.
- 1:12Ron be careful of the crypto bots in the chat.
- 1:16We tried to alamance do an awesome job trying to get those
- 1:20out as quick as they come in. Please don't fall for the
- 1:22scammers in the chats. Thank you.
- 1:26Well, thank you, Chris. And you know, you're a real
- 1:29important guy. I'm pretty important myself, but
- 1:32the most important person is the person who's joining us today.
- 1:36Right now. They might be in their living
- 1:38room. Heck, they might even be in
- 1:39their basement. But one thing we know for sure.
- 1:42They're wondering Do I own enough silver?
- 1:46Do I own enough gold? What's the exact amount of
- 1:50silver down to the half oz Chris that a person should own?
- 1:55Ron, nobody in this world can answer that question for
- 1:59everybody out there. Some people say stack your
- 2:03weight, some people say stack. You know this stack that I say
- 2:08me personally, if you can well afford to do so, 10 to 15% of
- 2:14every paycheck set on the side for precious metals.
- 2:18And if you can't go down for that because there's no
- 2:21everybody's lifestyle is different on you know, your life
- 2:25save will make it different than my lifestyle.
- 2:27You know, the viewers might be different than ours.
- 2:30Stack what you can afford. Don't worry about anything else
- 2:33to stack. That's the bottom line.
- 2:36Yeah. And and you know, another,
- 2:38another way to look at it too is if a person does have a lot of
- 2:42disposable income, right, this, this rich person joining us
- 2:46right now maybe accumulate like a year's worth of expenses,
- 2:52worth of precious metals, figure out what you spend on an annual
- 2:55basis and maybe save like a year or six months, whatever.
- 2:59I think what it comes down to is whatever someone feels
- 3:03comfortable with. The one big warning that I want
- 3:06to give people though is don't go into debt.
- 3:09Don't buy silver. Don't think that it's such an
- 3:13urgent matter that if you don't have spare cash that you like,
- 3:17buy it on your credit card or go into any type of debt to buy
- 3:21silver, gold or any precious metal for that matter.
- 3:24Well, look at it this way, Ron. I got customers who come into
- 3:27the shop who can't really afford that much.
- 3:30They come in by a couple Dimes, a couple cores on a weekly 90%,
- 3:35several Dimes, 90% server cores on a weekly base.
- 3:38That's all they can afford, which is fine.
- 3:42You know, they're stacking something.
- 3:43They're putting something away you, you know.
- 3:46So there's all types of different price range people can
- 3:49afford to have at one time or buy at one time or convert at
- 3:53one time. Let's use the right word here.
- 3:57But really, you know, you know, I I really get on these other
- 4:01Youtubers to show their whole stack line, You know, I don't
- 4:04think that's a good move. I think that's a people out
- 4:07there saying I'm not never going to be like that person.
- 4:10Well, you're probably right. But, you know, as long as you
- 4:13have, you know, 6 to 18 months, you know, I go with 18 months
- 4:18long. But for for expenses, Some
- 4:22people may not even be able to get to that point.
- 4:25But it's OK, you know, 'cause most most of us don't have
- 4:29dollars. Now we're living paycheck to
- 4:31paycheck. Right.
- 4:33And you and you probably don't want to put all your money into
- 4:39precious metals. I'm a pretty not diversified
- 4:43person. I have a lot of money in mining
- 4:44stocks. And you know, I I wouldn't.
- 4:49I would recommend that people not put all their money into
- 4:52precious metals. I'm not giving financial advice,
- 4:54I'm just giving my opinion. I would recommend that before
- 4:59anyone stacks precious metals that they take a good hard look
- 5:03at what their debt situation is. Because if you have debt, you
- 5:07know, car debt, house debt, even especially credit card debt
- 5:11outstanding, I would focus on getting that paid off first
- 5:15before I would focus on increasing the size of the
- 5:19stack. I mean, nobody knows what's
- 5:21going to happen, right? A year from now we could be
- 5:23sitting here, Chris, with a big smile on our face with $85
- 5:27silver, right? And it would have been a good
- 5:30move to borrow money to buy silver, but the opposite of that
- 5:34can happen as well. If a person has debt and
- 5:38continues to buy silver and the silver price goes down, well,
- 5:41guess what? That debt doesn't go away, but
- 5:44the value of the silver can go down.
- 5:46I don't think silver is going down, but it absolutely could.
- 5:51Yes, yes, Ron it it could but in what terms in the dollar form,
- 5:55you know we we're looking this in the dollar form you know but
- 5:59it's still excuse me at the end of the day it's still an ounce
- 6:02of silver no matter what the price is.
- 6:06Right. But what I'm saying is though
- 6:08the debt, if if you're if you're carrying debt while you're still
- 6:12stacking silver, you're basically using borrowed money
- 6:16to buy silver. That's a you know that that's a
- 6:18financial fact. Yeah, and that can be a
- 6:21financial nightmare too, yes. Yeah, exactly.
- 6:25I mean, debt is, you know, there's that old saying, debt is
- 6:29the currency of slaves. Silver is the currency of
- 6:33gentlemen, and gold is the currency of royalty or the money
- 6:38of royalty. However you want to say it, you
- 6:41want to get rid of that debt first.
- 6:42This is not a financial planning show, but I understand
- 6:47mathematics and accounting very well and I know that to be the
- 6:51case. And then from there, I mean, if
- 6:52a person has all no debt, right, which is a wonderful place to
- 6:56be, I've always been hated that. Well, then you can really do
- 7:01whatever you want. You know, you can, you could put
- 7:04a lot more of your money into metals, if that's what you
- 7:07believe, because you don't have any debt, you don't have any
- 7:10risk. You have this solid foundation
- 7:13that you've built where you don't have any debt.
- 7:16And from there you can pile on whatever you want, some silver,
- 7:19some gold, some mining stocks, other investment opportunities.
- 7:22But anyway, somehow this turned into a discussion that wasn't
- 7:26supposed to be about debt. But you know, eliminating debt I
- 7:29would say would be the number one thing people should do.
- 7:32And then #2 Sure, stack all you want after that.
- 7:36Fortuna Silver Mines is a global intermediate gold and silver
- 7:40producer. Since 2005, Fortuna's best in
- 7:44class management has delivered impressive growth and profits.
- 7:48Fortuna's solid financial position and operational
- 7:52expertise allows for performance in any precious metals price
- 7:57cycle and provides a foundation from which to harvest great
- 8:01profits in more favorable metals markets.
- 8:04Investing in Fortuna is an investment in quality, long
- 8:08term, sustainable production of in demand precious and base
- 8:13metals. And you know, another thing you
- 8:15need to look at too on is, you know, you've said this multiple
- 8:18times on your show. Don't convert Fiat into silver
- 8:24or gold if you're going to need it.
- 8:26Six months, eight months down the road, you know, you know, I
- 8:30mean, if you know you're going to have something coming up and
- 8:32you need the cash for it now, don't use that cash to go buy
- 8:37silver and gold now. Could that be the wrong move
- 8:40now? Yeah.
- 8:41You know, I I appreciate you bringing that up, Chris.
- 8:44Thank you because that's a great point.
- 8:45Like, like OK, I have no debt. I'm, you know, I, I, I'll
- 8:49divulge that to our audience. I've, I've been debt free since
- 8:53I was probably 26 years old. Right.
- 8:55Zero debt. I hate debt.
- 8:57When I buy silver now I buy it with this mindset that I'm never
- 9:02going to sell it. Like I use money that I'm like,
- 9:05I'm cool with just sitting on this, like in my mind
- 9:09envisioning like like at some point it could be passed on to
- 9:15my children and that they would be very that they'll be very
- 9:19happy. It's like security or something.
- 9:23I don't know. It's hard to say.
- 9:25And that gets into my next point, Ron.
- 9:27Like you said, you know you you're training your girls about
- 9:30silver and gold and if you are going to pass it down to family
- 9:35or grandkids or your kids make sure they know what the what The
- 9:40thing is so they don't take into some old cranky guy coin shop
- 9:45and and they're going to rip them off.
- 9:48Make sure they know the value and really update that book
- 9:51every at least every six months if not every quarter.
- 9:55You know, you get a spreadsheet. You can change that very easily
- 9:58on the computer, the value of that very quickly.
- 10:02Yeah, yeah. Let me ask you a question,
- 10:04Chris. Stop.
- 10:05Speaking of silver, is this not the most beautiful thing you've
- 10:09ever seen in your life? I'm telling you, I am genuinely
- 10:12in love with this, the 10 oz Geiger Bar.
- 10:16That's one of the one of the 10 on Spas I've been wanting to get
- 10:19my hands on. I just can't afford it right
- 10:21now. We do have some at the shop.
- 10:25You know, they come in every now and then.
- 10:27We don't really order them to be honest with you, but they do
- 10:29come in once in a late blue moon and right now we're seeing on
- 10:32two. I think it was two or three of
- 10:34them now. Yeah, they are.
- 10:38They are nice. And I want to mention this is
- 10:41part of our Valentine's Day giveaway.
- 10:44There's a link in the description of this video where
- 10:47you can enter the giveaway with very explicit instructions on
- 10:51how to do so. I really like the fact that this
- 10:53comes. I don't know, this came from
- 10:54Pinbex, our channel sponsor, Pi, MB, EXI don't know, do they all
- 10:59come wrapped in in this? Like, really nice heavy plastic,
- 11:02Chris. I've seen some wrapped in that
- 11:04closet growing, and I've seen some aloe plastic.
- 11:07This looks like it came from the factory or the refinery.
- 11:10Or the that's factory sealed, yes.
- 11:12Yeah. Or from factory sealed or from
- 11:15Germany, as a matter of fact. What does that remind you of
- 11:18when you got something really nice like that wrapped in
- 11:20plastic or rubber? Does that remind you of
- 11:23anything? Well, I'm not gonna go there
- 11:26with you. You you're going somewhere where
- 11:27I don't want. I don't know if you want to go
- 11:29there. What are you talking about?
- 11:33Never mind. It's a family show.
- 11:35It's a family show, Ron. Well, no, what I was thinking of
- 11:39is like when you go to ALDI and they've got those nice rib eye
- 11:42steaks and they're, you know, they're in that.
- 11:44I don't know what you were thinking of, Chris, but let's
- 11:46move on. Hey, let's talk about the, let's
- 11:50talk about that, how great the economy is.
- 11:52Here's the fact, Jack, the last leg of the stool holding up what
- 11:58the Fed is doing, holding up the US economy is employment.
- 12:03Any thoughts on employment, Chris?
- 12:05Well. Look, Citibank just announced
- 12:0820,000 job cuts are on. Google just announced 10,000 job
- 12:14layoffs. There's 30,000 jobs right there
- 12:16on in a matter of. Week let me let me add let me
- 12:21add a few to your list if you don't mind.
- 12:23Mr. Coin shot Chris. The National Football League is
- 12:26laying people off the NFL. Black Rock is laying people off.
- 12:31Nike is laying people off. Intel is laying people off.
- 12:36And Twitch do you know what Twitch is?
- 12:38I. Have no idea.
- 12:40It's something like YouTube. The gamers do Twitch.
- 12:44Our friends at Twitch are laying people off as well.
- 12:47How can it you know and and and how How can this economy be so
- 12:51great and strong? And think about it, the big
- 12:55companies that typically have the good big full time jobs,
- 12:59these are probably jobs, you know, let's say are paying
- 13:02between 60 and $120,000 per year.
- 13:05The good big full time jobs are going away and what are these
- 13:09people gonna do? Would you rather have a A90K job
- 13:13at Nike or what? You know, all these job gains
- 13:16we're hearing about are like people that are doing part time
- 13:19work, right? Would you rather work full time
- 13:21at Nike or making 90K a year? Or would you rather drive for
- 13:27Uber, deliver McDonald's for DoorDash, and help your neighbor
- 13:33with his landscaping company? I mean it's it's, it's, I I
- 13:36think the the writings on the wall when it comes to these
- 13:40employment numbers. Well, the employment number is
- 13:43wrong. You and I talked to this many
- 13:44months back ago that they're fraudulent.
- 13:47They had you, you know, when Costco was laying off, what,
- 13:51four or five months ago. And Costco pays very, very well
- 13:55run. We all know that when they start
- 13:58laying off and these people who used to make $2122.00 an hour
- 14:02have to go work at McDonald's part time, go pick up another
- 14:06job at a convenience store, they count that as two jobs.
- 14:10Ron, that's not, you know, that's not right.
- 14:14I mean, you know, it's supposed to be one job, but they counting
- 14:16as two separate and they counting part time with no
- 14:19benefits, no insurance, no nothing.
- 14:23I don't. Understand.
- 14:23I don't understand what you're saying.
- 14:25You keep saying pot time. Is that a store like Pottery
- 14:27Barn or is that your new Is that your New York accent?
- 14:31Part time jobs, part time jobs. I know my main accent.
- 14:35I know. I thought that was a New York
- 14:37accent. No main accent, but anywho they
- 14:41count that as two jobs and it's fraudulent.
- 14:46Yeah, so. I mean you know your drone power
- 14:50glamour Yellen needs to get they they they all need to get out of
- 14:52office but who is who is how we going to fix this run it's too
- 14:57late. I think the dollar it's done for
- 14:59it's game over. We're going to reset very soon
- 15:03when nobody knows we're going to wake up on either after a
- 15:08holiday weekend on or Monday morning and everything will be
- 15:11changed. Yeah, well, it it, it seems like
- 15:16you bring up a great, a great point.
- 15:18Because if I think back to like the tech bubble and and even the
- 15:22real estate, mortgage, whatever bubble before the great
- 15:25financial crisis, I was in the business world during both of
- 15:28those and like during the tech bubble and I worked in the tech
- 15:31field, it's like everything was great and fine.
- 15:34I mean, it really was and then all of a sudden boom, it wasn't
- 15:38right. Like everything was hunky, Dory
- 15:40and Lala, everybody's making all this money and then, boom, it
- 15:44just suddenly happened. The same thing happened during
- 15:46the great financial crisis. It's like, everything's great
- 15:49and then all of a sudden you can wake up and be like, wow,
- 15:52everything changed and changed very quickly.
- 15:56And that's what's it's gonna if we thought for the people who
- 16:00can remember the financial crisis back in O 8 through 2011
- 16:05and you know, people think God, 'cause it didn't affect the the
- 16:08really the mainstream people, you know, they didn't have
- 16:12stocks, you know, you know, anything like that, you know,
- 16:15But people lost their homes, run.
- 16:17And you know, the people that did happen to remember that, the
- 16:20people who don't have did not don't really remember what
- 16:24actually happened. There are movies out there for
- 16:27people to watch. And I would really look up these
- 16:312008 movies. You know the financial crisis
- 16:35now, I'm Lost awards now. But there are a couple movies
- 16:37out there that will tell you exactly what happened and put in
- 16:42great detail of what happened and maybe that will help your
- 16:47view without some more on. Yeah, Yep, Yep.
- 16:50What about you did some shopping this week for American Silver
- 16:54Eagles? Is that correct, Chris?
- 16:55I I shop every week for you and for your viewers.
- 16:58Ron, you know I we do this every single week.
- 17:01I'm happy to do it. 2024 Eagles are out.
- 17:04The rated ship I got actually got two different deals.
- 17:09I got rolls and monster boxes. I'll cover the rolls first with
- 17:11you Ron 2 of 2024 Silver Eagles at money Metals and these these
- 17:19prices were taken 1/12/24 about 5:45 PM.
- 17:24So the lower money metals was six O 720 for full 2 by 20 JM
- 17:30Bowen was 6/17/60 at Max was 618 even and our sponsor pin backs
- 17:39was 56920 save $48.80 from the most expensive which was at Max
- 17:48$48.80 Ron cheaper. So from the most expensive to
- 17:55the least expensive. For one tube of 20 American
- 17:58Silver Eagles, the highest price was $48.
- 18:02For the exact same tube of Eagles, the highest price was
- 18:06$48 higher than what you could get it for at Pembacs.
- 18:09Pembacs wins again. Pembacs wins again.
- 18:12Now we go to the monster boxes and I won't.
- 18:14And if you if you're not sitting down, everybody please sit down
- 18:16for this one monster. Box How many?
- 18:18How many coins are in a monster box?
- 18:20Just a hundred 500 oz On OK so money Metals came in at 14,680
- 18:28dollars. JM Bowen came in at $14,940.
- 18:35Pin backs came in at $14,950. Sponsor pin backs came in at
- 18:42$13,780. Take the highest to the lowest.
- 18:49That is 1170 dollars savings. 1000. 1100 and $70.
- 18:59And how much were the rolls of Are the tubes of Eagles at
- 19:04Pinbex again? 56920.
- 19:08So if my mathematics are correct, if you if you're buying
- 19:12an entire monster box of American Silver Eagles, you can.
- 19:17If you buy it at Pinbex, you can get the same box, monster box
- 19:23and an additional 2 tubes 40 coins total with the savings
- 19:30that you would get over buying it from the most expensive
- 19:33competitor. Is that is that accurate, Chris?
- 19:36That's that's about accurate. Run 40 oz.
- 19:39So why would you want to go buy it at Max JM?
- 19:42Really even money metals? I mean, where you get more metal
- 19:48for your money and you gain extra 43 oz on top of it, the
- 19:54same place. Hello.
- 19:56I mean, you know, I mean that's that's crazy.
- 20:01I mean, you know, I mean, I This is why we do this.
- 20:03This is not to knock these other companies out to just to your
- 20:06viewers. This is to prove a point you
- 20:08have to shop around. Yeah, you got to shop around,
- 20:12even even if you're buying anytime, anywhere.
- 20:15Shop around, right? Compare prices.
- 20:19You know, I did that a long time ago.
- 20:22I found that Pinbex was ultra competitive on all the products.
- 20:27And you know, I trust Pinbex. But so that's what I recommend
- 20:31to our viewers is, you know, do your own due diligence.
- 20:34You're going to have your own experience.
- 20:35I can tell you that I have received nothing but positive
- 20:40feedback from Ron's basement basement dwellers regarding
- 20:44their experiences with Pembecks. Chris, who do you like best, JP
- 20:49or JD? I don't know who those two
- 20:52people are. Jerome Powell or Jamie Dimon?
- 20:58Neither are you. Now, if you asked me if you put
- 21:01both of those yahoos in a ring and let them fight it out, I'm
- 21:06not sure which one would win. I would not bet on that one.
- 21:11Let's talk about JP Morgan Chase briefly.
- 21:13This is astonishing to me. They reported $50 billion in
- 21:17annual profit for 2020. Three, 50 billion.
- 21:21This is the same JP Morgan who's been accused and convicted of
- 21:26manipulating the precious metals prices.
- 21:29But what's crazy about 50 is the biggest profit ever in the
- 21:33history of the banking industry. If you think about this, the
- 21:37entire market cap, the entire value of the entire silver
- 21:42mining sector is 17 billion, maybe even a little bit less.
- 21:46Basically JP Morgan last year made three times as much money
- 21:52profit in one year as the entire value three times as the the the
- 21:58entire value of the entire silver mining sector.
- 22:00Is that just mind blowing or what?
- 22:04That is mind blowing boggling. I mean you know, I mean Ron, you
- 22:08know I don't like banks. I think most of your viewers
- 22:10know that about me. I I don't like banks but we have
- 22:13to deal with banks. You know all these fees that
- 22:16come over the last 15 years plus you know what the heck is a
- 22:22$7.49 maintenance fee that Bank of America charges.
- 22:27I mean it's fees on top of fees all if you over get get
- 22:31overdrawn just a little bit, we're going to hit you with a
- 22:33$40 overdrawn fee. I mean it's crazy, Ron.
- 22:38You know the banks have no compassion.
- 22:40All they care about. They don't care about you.
- 22:42They're not. The banks are not your friends.
- 22:44I'm sorry, banks are not. The car salesman at car
- 22:47dealerships are. No, they're not your friends
- 22:52either. I mean, you, you know, you, you
- 22:56have to spend your money wisely and you, you know, some people
- 23:01don't know bells and checkbooks. Some people do, but even you
- 23:03know, I had, we had one overdrawn fee in my life, Ron,
- 23:06and I was able to get that back. But you know, you're allowed
- 23:10really you're allowed to have one overdraft fee a year and
- 23:13they will give it back to you if you pick up the phone and call
- 23:15them. That's.
- 23:17Great advice. That's great that that's great
- 23:20advice. The other, the other crazy thing
- 23:24regarding that $50 billion profit is that that happened
- 23:29during a year where we had more bank failures from a dollar
- 23:35level than we had during the worst year of the great
- 23:38financial crisis. It's just, it doesn't make any
- 23:40sense. I mean how, how can we have a
- 23:42banking crisis and then our biggest bank makes a more
- 23:45profit? I mean, come on, give me a
- 23:47break. Anyhow, let's talk about the 30
- 23:49day numbers, Chris. Let's see what's what's
- 23:51happened. I'm gonna answer that question
- 23:54first because our government lend these banks the money and
- 23:58they invested and they make Billings.
- 23:59That's how we that's how they they took away from the
- 24:01taxpayers. They took away from you and your
- 24:04viewers and me. So let's now let's get on to the
- 24:0730 day numbers. They printed money.
- 24:11Yeah, printed Unicorn font dust. Well they did that.
- 24:14Let's let's just let me let me just make one more quick point
- 24:16of that they they they they initiated an emergency program
- 24:21called the BB Bank term funding program BTFP to help bail the
- 24:27banks out basically to keep any more 'cause they were you know
- 24:31in banks that were insolvent. That program is scheduled to end
- 24:35on March 11th, which is now just two short months away, right?
- 24:39And yeah, two months away 2024, just so you remember the year
- 24:43we're in and the Wall Street Journal reported that the head
- 24:48regulator for the Fed basically came out last week and and and
- 24:52heavily insinuated that they were going to terminate that
- 24:55program. So it'll be interesting to see
- 24:57how the banks do when their their little crutch is taken
- 25:02away. Well, let's see if they end the
- 25:04program first Ron, right, right. So anyways, I could say more.
- 25:10You know, I will say this, Ron, you know, if you and I went to
- 25:12the casino, if you and I went to the Vegas and we each lost $2000
- 25:17and we didn't have that money to lose, are we going to be able to
- 25:19call the federal government? I'm going to say, hey Jerome,
- 25:22hey grandma, are you yelling? I I lost $2000 at at Vegas.
- 25:26Can I get my money back please? That won't happen, Ron, but the
- 25:30banks can do it. Yeah, yeah.
- 25:33And then get and get A and then get a bigger bonus on top of it.
- 25:36What happened in the last 30 days?
- 25:39Mr. Chris? Silver was actually up, believe
- 25:42it or not, up 34 cents or up 1.49%.
- 25:47Gold was up $60.40 or up three 3.03% platinum took a little bit
- 25:55of a hit. The last 30 days are on it was
- 25:57down $14.40 or down 1.55%. Bitcoin is up, but not as up as
- 26:05it was the last couple weeks. We talked about it, it was up
- 26:08897 O 8 or up 2.16% oil. I've been ramping on oil for a
- 26:16month for weeks now. With year on, oil is finally up
- 26:19$4.15 a barrel or up 6.05%. Something to keep your eyes on
- 26:27everybody. It's oil.
- 26:28Oil runs everything silver to gold ratios 87.91.
- 26:36Which demonstrates how undervalued silver is that it
- 26:40would take you almost 90 ounces of silver to acquire just one
- 26:45measly ounce of gold. That's crazy.
- 26:49That's, you know, I mean we've seen the ratio higher than this
- 26:53wrong. But you you know I'm still I'm
- 26:56not touching gold right now. I'm I not telling anybody what
- 26:59to do. But me personally, I'm all
- 27:02silver right now. Yeah, yeah.
- 27:04I've always been more of a silver guy myself, although I do
- 27:06own way too much too many shares of gold mining stocks.
