- 0:00Speaker 1: Is it okay if God redeems you in the midst
- 0:04Speaker 1: of slavery and leaves you in slavery? If it's not,
- 0:08Speaker 1: you don't understand the gospel. Is it okay that God
- 0:12Speaker 1: redeems you in the midst of bondage and leaves you
- 0:15Speaker 1: in the midst of that bondage, never to get you out?
- 0:18Speaker 1: If the answer is no, you don't understand what it
- 0:20Speaker 1: means to be redeemed. Is it okay that God redeems
- 0:23Speaker 1: you as a single and never gives you a spouse?
- 0:27Speaker 1: If the answer is no, you don't understand redemption. Is
- 0:30Speaker 1: it okay that God redeems you in a bad marriage
- 0:34Speaker 1: and you spend the rest of your life in that
- 0:36Speaker 1: bad marriage and it never gets better? If your answer
- 0:40Speaker 1: is no, you do not understand redemption. Is it okay
- 0:46Speaker 1: that God redeems you in the midst of a culture
- 0:54Speaker 1: that has absolutely gone astray and in your lifetime never
- 1:02Speaker 1: rights the ship? If the answer is no, you do
- 1:06Speaker 1: not understand redemption. Is it all right that God redeems
- 1:10Speaker 1: you and doesn't save every one of your kids? If
- 1:14Speaker 1: the answer is no, you do not understand redemption. Is
- 1:18Speaker 1: it all right that God redeems you and you never
- 1:21Speaker 1: ever become wealthy enough or healthy or prosperous? If the
- 1:26Speaker 1: answer is no, you do not understand redemption. Is it
- 1:28Speaker 1: okay that God redeems you and yet you're sick in
- 1:32Speaker 1: your body and or your mind? If your answer is no,
- 1:39Speaker 1: that's not okay, then you don't understand redemption because you
- 1:47Speaker 1: think that God has created you for Babylon. That's not
- 1:54Speaker 1: Daniel's message. Daniel's message is, God has me in Babylon,
- 1:59Speaker 1: but he didn't create me for Babylon. What did he
- 2:03Speaker 1: create me for? Here is the beauty. And I don't
- 2:07Speaker 1: want to step on chapter two before we get to
- 2:10Speaker 1: chapter two. But I cannot imagine what it felt like
- 2:18Speaker 1: for Daniel to stand there and interpret Nebuchadnezzar's dream. Nobody
- 2:25Speaker 1: would tell him what the dream was or what it meant.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Daniel goes and he prays and he comes back. And again,
- 2:31Speaker 1: in the midst of captivity. We'll deal with it in
- 2:35Speaker 1: more detail. But for now, just listen to this. They're
- 2:39Speaker 1: in captivity. He's gone. Here's Daniel, who basically by this
- 2:43Speaker 1: point says, my country's gone. Being burned with fire. I'm
- 2:50Speaker 1: not going to have any children. My line is going
- 2:52Speaker 1: to be gone. It's over for me. And they're teaching
- 2:56Speaker 1: me these occultic practices. I got nothing. But Daniel, who
- 3:02Speaker 1: has the ability to interpret dreams, all of a sudden
- 3:09Speaker 1: gets a call. Our lives are in danger. Why? Because
- 3:14Speaker 1: the king had a dream and we can't interpret it.
- 3:16Speaker 1: He won't even tell us what it is. He goes
- 3:17Speaker 1: to God and he prays. And not only does Daniel
- 3:21Speaker 1: get the dream and its interpretation so that he can
- 3:24Speaker 1: stay alive, but here's what he gets to say to Nebuchadnezzar.
- 3:29Speaker 1: There's four kingdoms. You're number one. You don't last. Number
- 3:37Speaker 1: two's coming. They're going to wipe you out. They're not
- 3:40Speaker 1: going to last. Number three's coming, and they're going to
- 3:42Speaker 1: wipe out number two, but they're not going to last. Why?
- 3:45Speaker 1: Because there is a kingdom coming that is going to
- 3:49Speaker 1: stand forever. Not only is God going to get my
- 3:54Speaker 1: people out of here, but my king will reign supreme
- 4:00Speaker 1: over all of heaven and over all of the earth.
- 4:03Speaker 1: I may not ever see it, but I'm standing here
- 4:05Speaker 1: to tell you, king, you won't either. But the difference
- 4:10Speaker 1: between you and me is that even in the midst
- 4:12Speaker 1: of captivity, I am part of the kingdom that will
- 4:15Speaker 1: never die. Even in the midst of captivity, all you
- 4:21Speaker 1: have to hope for is that you don't see the
- 4:26Speaker 1: other army marching to take over. I've already experienced that
- 4:32Speaker 1: and I'm still here. But what I have to hope
- 4:36Speaker 1: for is that there is a day coming when the
- 4:42Speaker 1: King of Kings and the Lord of Lords will vindicate himself.
- 4:52Speaker 1: And I may be your slave now, but I'm his
- 4:57Speaker 1: son forever. So do with me as you must, but
- 5:05Speaker 1: I'm going to be okay. That's what Daniel teaches us. Not,
- 5:15Speaker 1: you just be a good little boy and try really
- 5:17Speaker 1: hard and be like that. That's not Daniel's message. Daniel's
- 5:22Speaker 1: message is, if you're a good little boy and you
- 5:25Speaker 1: study hard and you're attractive and articulate and intelligent, God
- 5:32Speaker 1: may send an army to come and destroy you, kill
- 5:36Speaker 1: your family, carry you off to a foreign land, castrate
- 5:39Speaker 1: you so that you never have a future or a family,
- 5:42Speaker 1: and then teach you occultic practices and have you spend
- 5:45Speaker 1: the rest of your days in a land that's not
- 5:48Speaker 1: your own. That's what Daniel got for being a good, smart,
- 5:52Speaker 1: hard-studying little boy. He didn't have kids, but he's got
- 6:05Speaker 1: a book in the Bible. And though he is dead,
- 6:12Speaker 1: yet he speaks.
