Transcript
- 1:02None. What's up everybody, it's your
- 1:12boy Kefi. Back again with another ghost.
- 1:15coltmag.com weekly ritual, our rock and metal news show
- 1:19everywhere on the web. I feel like we are not live on
- 1:25the gram. Give me one second.
- 1:26No, normally I have this. All good.
- 1:32What's going on here? I don't know why IG has shut the
- 1:36bed today. Let's see it's making me do it
- 1:40over. Thanks for joining.
- 1:42I'll dispense with the pleasantries and clackety clacks
- 1:47and let's see if I can pop this thing in.
- 1:51For some reason it did not work. I had a huge computer crash this
- 1:56week and I kind of fucked me for everything.
- 2:01Let's see let's edit this huge this IG key.
- 2:05Oh there it is. Let's all right one remove and
- 2:11then add save the changes. Edit Thanks for being patient.
- 2:19It's been a week of technical difficulties.
- 2:22My computer shit the bed this week.
- 2:24It was brutal. And then we had some problems
- 2:28with the site last night, which was unusual because normally it
- 2:31runs pretty great. Might not be able to do
- 2:36Instagram this week, I'm not sure why there's a glitch.
- 2:38But anyway, thanks for being here, I appreciate everybody.
- 2:41We will rock'n'roll with the news this week because I got
- 2:45shit to do and I'm heading out of town, so let's do this.
- 2:49What's up to Dale for joining? Thanks for everybody watching.
- 2:53Somebody's on Twitch, feel free to follow us.
- 2:55We'll follow back. Thanks to you Youtubers.
- 2:58Feel free to jump in the comments.
- 3:04As always, I'm here doing the news, goes cultman.com.
- 3:07If this is your first time here is your rock, your number one
- 3:10source for rock and metal news. Something stupid is here.
- 3:13What's up? Yo, Alan is here in the you.
- 3:15What's up? It's up.
- 3:17Yeah. Just can't seem to get IG to go
- 3:19today. I don't know why it will not
- 3:21cooperate, but OK, I'm not going to force the issue.
- 3:26Here we are. We're doing the damn thing.
- 3:29But thanks for being here. As always, let me add this deck
- 3:34here and here's here's how we do the show.
- 3:38I moved my camera angle this week, so I'm kind of competing a
- 3:42little bit with the visuals here we go that's better it's me on
- 3:45the side of the camera. Maybe I'll move it around.
- 3:47We'll see. It's possible I could move it
- 3:49other places too. But thanks for being here, Chef.
- 3:539 Inch Nails is here. So this is our weekly Showtime
- 3:59for the announcements. This is how we start.
- 4:01We do the announcements, then we go through the big features,
- 4:03goes cold Head this week. Then we cover rock and metal
- 4:05festivals, concert tour news, all the news and rumors and
- 4:09stuff you want to know about that you might have missed this
- 4:11week. And then we do a little bit of
- 4:14fun for my mailbag. You can see the box behind me on
- 4:16the bed and right next to my twin temple stuffy that I like
- 4:22very much. Still rocking this thing from a
- 4:25couple years ago. Shout out to Twin Temple.
- 4:27And then, yeah. And then we rock through the new
- 4:32music out this week because you need to know about it.
- 4:35And then we say our goodbyes after the mailbag.
- 4:39So let's do the thing. Just a reminder, if you want to
- 4:42give us a tip, we'll ghost called Magazine is a not
- 4:46corporate music website. We do make some money from
- 4:49advertising, We'll talk about that a little later in the show,
- 4:52but if you want to drop us a tip, it's always appreciated. 3
- 4:55dollars, $6.30 dollars, $25, whatever you want to give.
- 4:59Every little bit helps. Also, if you're on YouTube, we
- 5:03have super thanks and super chats enabled.
- 5:06We always answer everybody's questions in the chat for free,
- 5:08but we will give special preference if you want to tip us
- 5:11for that. We appreciate it.
- 5:13You can also buy us a coffee on COVID.
- 5:15Something stupid with dumb. As to I think Sepultura was only
- 5:18Sepultura with Cavallera. Absolutely not.
- 5:21No, I love Sepultura. People forget that Igor
- 5:25Cavallera continued in Sepultura for 10 years while he and Max
- 5:29were not speaking. 10 years, four or five albums and an EP
- 5:34that Igor made that he believed in that he still had the
- 5:36Sepultura name next to his. So I think the only Cavalera's
- 5:42only Sepultura thing is a dumb argument.
- 5:44Nothing personal with deaths. I only like the classic that
- 5:47blank blank blank. A lot of bands have no original
- 5:49members today. A lot of bands have few original
- 5:52members and I really appreciate the music.
- 5:55The classic Sepultura lineup included Kisser and Paulo.
- 6:00And Kisser was by the way not only a huge, not just a lead
- 6:04guitarist, he Co wrote half of those albums as well as lyrics,
- 6:08a lot of lyrics. So he doesn't get enough credit
- 6:11and you know, they've continued to carry the flag, sell albums,
- 6:14help Sepultura, continue to sell albums that Max and Igor make
- 6:17money from. So I don't really see the
- 6:19problem. We had an interview with Derek
- 6:22before the pandemic that was quite a long sit down thing.
- 6:26I love Max. I've interviewed Max, I've
- 6:29interviewed Max actually more than any or other artists like
- 6:3210 times in my career, even before Ghost Cult.
- 6:34So I'm very close to Max. I have an interview coming up
- 6:37with Richie Cavallera. I've interviewed the nephew,
- 6:40Igor, Max's son, you know, Zion. I've met and then hung out with
- 6:45super cool Zion and Richie on the different bands.
- 6:48And I absolutely love Soul Fly and go ahead and die and kill or
- 6:52be killed. But I do love the classic
- 6:54Sepultura and you know, it's time for them to go do other
- 6:56things. And I don't think Sepultura
- 6:58should ever reunite the original lineup anyway because honestly,
- 7:03they'd have to get along as friends first.
- 7:07Nice work, nice work, thanks for sharing.
- 7:11I appreciate you already. Some comments in this live were
- 7:14filtered to protect the community.
- 7:15Thanks to whoever's being a Dick.
- 7:17We eat in the comments. Gabe is here from Auntie
- 7:19Mosby's. Just a reminder, we are ghost
- 7:22cultman.com. Feel free to jump in the
- 7:24comments. The best experience for this is
- 7:26usually YouTube, Twitch, Instagram, which we're not on
- 7:30today, and and obviously YouTube where all our videos live.
- 7:34But of course, I like hanging out on TikTok.
- 7:36Metalhead is here. And again, thank you for your
- 7:39question, Dom. So you can tip us if you want
- 7:41to. There's our Cash App.
- 7:42You want to pause the screen and Cash App us some money.
- 7:45I appreciate it. Tomorrow is Bandcam Friday as we
- 7:49record this on Thursday night every week.
- 7:51So it's the newest Bandcam Friday.
- 7:52How do we feel about Bandcam Friday started in the pandemic.
- 7:55Band Camp has got a new owner the last couple of years, Epic
- 7:58Games, who created Fortnite. I don't know if band camp is
- 8:01still useful, but if you have a band we will be.
- 8:06We will be sharing our band camp posts and you're welcome to
- 8:11share your links. And I'm a big fan of AMP while
- 8:13I'm still trying to check out Band Camp.
- 8:16Friday started during the pandemic and Band camp is sort
- 8:19of a a lot of bands use it. Originally it was only for
- 8:22underground and unsigned bands, but a lot of labels now have a
- 8:25band camp. And basically band Camp is an
- 8:27alternate streaming platform where bands can communicate with
- 8:30their fans directly, sell merchant records to you, and
- 8:34skip over streaming things like Spotify and Pandora that do not
- 8:37pay. Now, band Camp does take a cut
- 8:41and they it's a smaller cut than, you know, normal and you
- 8:44would make more of your money from band camp than anywhere
- 8:47else depending on local taxes and stuff.
- 8:49But I will say on Band Camp Fridays, this started during the
- 8:51pandemic. It was band camp's way of giving
- 8:53back to the community. So what happens on a band camp
- 8:56Friday is they do not take their cut of the money.
- 9:00They just give the band whatever you paid them, they get all the
- 9:03money. So that's really cool.
- 9:05So band camp Fridays coming back?
- 9:07Gabe asks, did Soul Fly have one of their members murdered?
- 9:11No. But what happened is that in
- 9:13between the time when what happened was Sepultura was on
- 9:18the final tour with Max and Igor for Roots and Max and Gloria's
- 9:23son Dana, Max's stepson. But his son basically he raised
- 9:26Dana, was murdered. And that was kind of the
- 9:29impetus, sort of one of the reasons Max left Sepultura.
- 9:34There were other reasons as well as the beginning of Soul Fly.
- 9:37A lot of it had to do with the stuff that Max and Igor talked
- 9:41about. The reason Roots has a new metal
- 9:43influence is because Dana was a fan of new metal and Max became
- 9:46one as a result. Max and Igor loved the new metal
- 9:49stuff that Dana showed them, including Korn, and that's why.
- 9:52And honestly, once Roots was a huge success because I think
- 9:55it's a great album on its own. A lot of other bands started to
- 9:59do that. Label started to pressure their
- 10:01bands to do that. So, yeah, nice man Louder than
- 10:05life. We'll be covering it, Tom.
- 10:06I won't be there personally, but we have somebody coming out to
- 10:08cover it. And then also.
- 10:11Yeah, yeah, it was the whole the the back of the original Soul
- 10:15Fly record is a photograph of Dana's hands as I think a young
- 10:19child in in Max's. And that's actually how the Soul
- 10:22Fly logo came out like this. Like we're angels, right.
- 10:27And it's a beautiful story. And you know, they don't.
- 10:30It's still very painful for them.
- 10:32I'm going to drink a liquid death.
- 10:33I've still got the old formula Tall boy liquid death.
- 10:35This is a brand new flavor I have never had brand new to me
- 10:38Taylor Cola. So this I love seltzer and this
- 10:41is sparkling water that tastes like soda.
- 10:44I don't know how it's going to be if it sucks.
- 10:46I have my little thermos of water.
- 10:53Well, it's kind of sweet and it does taste like flat soda, but
- 10:57OK, it's not too bad. Yeah, maybe.
- 11:05Man, I love KSADI. Think KSAD is really their punk
- 11:08record. It's so hardcore punk and great.
- 11:12Just a reminder, this is Pride Month and we're going to
- 11:15highlight artists from across the spectrum of music and arts
- 11:20on this, and I'm going to talk about why in a second.
- 11:23You know, I think one of the most important things ever is
- 11:28that Rob Halford came out as gay in the early 2000s.
- 11:31I think everybody kind of already knew.
- 11:33You know, I get questions. People come at me all the time,
- 11:37like why isn't, you know, when is it white people's month?
- 11:41Why? And is it straight person's day?
- 11:44Why is it a why does International Women's Day exist?
- 11:47Why is Black History Month to think?
- 11:48Why is Juneteenth to think? Because from the dawn of time it
- 11:52has been colonialism, colonizers, divine right, white
- 11:57privilege, white power, all these racist things and white
- 12:01straight people have been in charge of everything from the
- 12:03dawn of time. So I'm happy I live in San
- 12:06Francisco. I am straight as I like to say
- 12:09straight but not narrow. I'm an ally to everybody.
- 12:11Rob Halford's incredible. He's literally the patron state
- 12:14of metal living on earth. He's incredible.
- 12:16What a time to be alive. The Judas Priest is still out
- 12:19there kicking ass. So.
- 12:21And here's why we still need a pride month, and pride and
- 12:24awareness of these issues is because I'll talk about it in
- 12:28one second. We had some birthdays this week.
- 12:31DMC. Here's a picture of me with DMC
- 12:33from run DMC. Tomorrow is Tom Moriah's
- 12:36birthday. Terry King's birthday was this
- 12:38week. Tomorrow is also the National
- 12:40Day of Slayer 666, originally founded on 666.
- 12:45Hey, thanks, man. I appreciate you, Gabe.
- 12:47You know, you don't have to. We're friends.
- 12:48But I appreciate you. Yeah, I'm he.
- 12:51Oh, yeah, That's absolutely true.
- 12:53Dom and William is here. I am missing my TikTok people,
- 12:57my my Instagram people today. But here's this is just a
- 13:00fucking terrible story. OK?
- 13:02This is why we still need pride month and we need, you know,
- 13:06tolerance is the bare minimum of acceptance we need.
- 13:09Nobody's lifestyle is changing or stopping you from living
- 13:13yours. It's never happened.
- 13:15So here's the guy who played, you know, is the voice actor for
- 13:17many things, but especially known for John Redcorn from King
- 13:20of the Hill. Everybody loves King of the
- 13:22hill. John Redcorn was hilarious
- 13:24characters and he was murdered in front of his house that was
- 13:28burned down by racists and homophobes and died in his, you
- 13:33know, husband's arms. And the San Antonio police are
- 13:36saying it's not a hate crime and it was just kind of incidental
- 13:40that he was shot to death. So this is some bullshit.
- 13:42San Antonio is one of the more progressive cities in the state
- 13:46of Texas. Holy fuck what a what a terrible
- 13:49shame man. Jonathan Joss is the actor and
- 13:51he's been in a lot of things, you know, and have seen and you
- 13:54enjoy. So you think about that.
- 13:56You know, we all have to change our behaviors and there's a
- 14:01there's a come to Jesus or come to the Satan moment for
- 14:04everybody out there. So yeah, I'm very sad, man, Very
- 14:08sad. Anyhow, Pride Month is a good
- 14:10thing. Once again, we're trying to
- 14:12raise awareness and help for our friend Lisa.
- 14:14Man, she had a terrible leg injury.
- 14:15She got a long recovery. She's a mice, a maestro of the
- 14:19bass guitar and guitar. She's a celebrated Blues artist.
- 14:22She's a heavy metal singer for her own project, White Crone, as
- 14:25well as Splintered Throne. My favorite thing she ever did
- 14:28is this incredible rainbow cover of Stargazer by Dio.
- 14:32She's got an incredible voice and we'll link some things in
- 14:35the description, including her band camp where you can help.
- 14:38Just also for funsies, we're trying to get our favorite dog
- 14:41in San Francisco. Sainthood from the sisters or
- 14:43perpetual indulgence. Django seen here.
- 14:46I'm sorry TikTok, you can't see this photo, but come to YouTube
- 14:49and see it. Here's Django with Necro
- 14:51Butcher. They were on their way to kill
- 14:52Uranimus. Should have killed Barg and
- 14:54maybe a few other people in the black metal scene back then.
- 14:56But yeah, we're doing a petition for Django.
- 14:59If you want to help, sign up. There's no money to give.
- 15:01We're just getting signatures to help a dog get sainthood.
- 15:04OK, time for the features at Ghost Cult this weekend.
- 15:06We had a Gangbuster week the last week since we've been
- 15:10together again. Paradise Slaves is the new
- 15:13hardcore metal super group and he's a little curious, but my
- 15:17partner Omar Cordy interviewed Paradise Slaves, which features
- 15:22former members of 36 Crazy Fists and Die Cast.
- 15:25These are cool turn of the century metal core and hardcore
- 15:28bands and they got a brand new album out and Omar talked to
- 15:31them all about it. Also, my interview with Gottard
- 15:36finally ran. I've been this is Nick from
- 15:38Gottard. We've been working on this for a
- 15:39long time, getting this out. Their new record is out now
- 15:42they're on tour in Europe, Swedish Hard Rock, heavy metal
- 15:45band. And then also Omar once again
- 15:48interviewed Diamond and Josh from Tetrarch and it is
- 15:52officially Tetrarch. I did not know how it was
- 15:54pronounced. It's Tetrarch with the ACH at
- 15:58the end is a hard Ki got a very European name, so I should know
- 16:02CCHS and CHKS and how that sounds.
- 16:05But anyway, also just a reminder, we've got a bunch of
- 16:08killer interviews recently across the metal spectrum.
- 16:10Steve Von Till, formerly Neurosis, the legendary
- 16:13avant-garde artist Jarboe. So many more things.
- 16:16We interviewed Max not that long ago.
- 16:18I've got interviews coming up with a gang of artists.
- 16:21We did kill Switch Engage earlier this year.
- 16:23We did Melvin's a second time or third time.
- 16:26So you know we've been doing our things.
- 16:27Hey, Morgan is here. Morgan, you turned in just in
- 16:30time about to talk to you about you.
- 16:34This is Ava. Maybe this is going to run
- 16:36tomorrow. This Ava maybe is Chad Smith
- 16:38from the Red Hot Chili Peppers daughter and she's kind of a a
- 16:41rock and R&B singer and pop singer, a kind of amalgam of
- 16:45these things. And she's got a new EP out, her
- 16:48debut full EP after a gang of singles, like 11 singles in five
- 16:52years. She almost won and she made like
- 16:54the next to last cut of American Idol.
- 16:57And she's the daughter of Chad Smith of the Chili.
- 16:59So I interviewed her recently for our podcast It Goes called
- 17:01Magazine Podcast. Super fun interaction, super
- 17:04cool check, and really what a great artist in the making.
- 17:08I'm really interested in watching her career grow.
- 17:11And then oh, trigger, trigger failure.
- 17:14This is Anna de Rudias of the band De Rudias Morgan who's
- 17:20hanging out in here, interviewed her, did AQ and a with her.
- 17:24One of the most interesting, artistic and talented
- 17:27revolutionary artists of our time.
- 17:29Honestly, quite honestly, I'm going to go pick up her book.
- 17:33She's got a book, she creates and makes art and she's got one
- 17:36of the most bad ass punk bands on the planet.
- 17:38You definitely want to check that feature out.
- 17:41I will link that in the description as well when I get
- 17:43done with this video. What else?
- 17:46What else? So again, we have a podcast.
- 17:47This show will be a podcast wherever you listen to podcasts.
- 17:50Check us out. And because I don't have enough
- 17:53to do, I'm also the Co host of the Glacially musical podcast
- 17:56Beer Metal and Swearing. We are finishing our series on
- 17:59Heart and with the album Dog and Butterfly from 1978.
- 18:04It's all right. Check it out though.
- 18:06I definitely you want to tune in and listen to us talk about
- 18:09craft beer and unbox vinyls and dog each other about stuff Dog
- 18:13and butterfly each other, I guess.
- 18:15And we have a lot of fun there. So now it's time for the news
- 18:21rundown. And as we do every week, we
- 18:23start with the metal festivals. We start with metal festivals.
- 18:27That's where we begin. So coming up next month, it's
- 18:32festival season officially. We've had Maryland Death Fest,
- 18:34we had Milwaukee Metal Fest, we had Roadburn.
- 18:37We had a bunch of festivals in Europe already starting and a
- 18:40few to come. Incarceration Festival, which is
- 18:43coming up in July at the jail where they made Shawshank
- 18:47Redemption, which is one of my favorite movies, has this
- 18:50incredible festival headline by Slipknot.
- 18:52And it's also got a tattoo festival and it's got haunted
- 18:55tours of the prison and all kinds of awesome stuff.
- 18:59And they announced their set times for the entire weekend and
- 19:02a few more bands. So I think their final round of
- 19:04bands. So that's pretty cool.
- 19:07Also also Warp Tour. We told you there was going to
- 19:10be new Warp tour work tour DC is next weekend and it is going to
- 19:13be streaming live on Amazon Music, which is super exciting
- 19:19and I think probably they all will be streaming.
- 19:21I'm very interested to see what this does.
- 19:23Obviously it's not going to be the same as the old Warped door.
- 19:26We're not covering this first one.
- 19:27I might go down to LA for the second one for the for the LA
- 19:32one, but as of now, I'm just interested to see this is the
- 19:35test of how it does mostly sold out.
- 19:38So they're doing all right, moving along and Download is
- 19:43around the corner and we've been talking about them quite a bit.
- 19:46That is headlined by Green Day. So very exciting for that
- 19:49festival. Lee, the granddaddy of them all,
- 19:51formerly Donnington or Castle Donnington at Castle Donnington
- 19:57and now it is Download Festival for the last, I don't know, 20
- 20:00something years. Brandon Machado is here.
- 20:03Michael Licious is here. Welcome back, Michael Licious.
- 20:05Just a reminder, I went to Bottle Rock.
- 20:07They have early bird tickets on sale now.
- 20:08Bottle Rock was over Memorial Day weekend and that's where I
- 20:11interviewed Ava. Maybe there's a picture of me,
- 20:14Woo. And I'm excited to find out
- 20:17about their lineup next year. We shall see if we, you know,
- 20:21probably go cover it again. I might want to travel next year
- 20:24and cover some other things. And again, Yep, Vans Warped Tour
- 20:26in DC, streaming on Amazon Music, and a reminder that the
- 20:30final Maryland Dune Fest is a couple of weeks away.
- 20:33Very bummed out about this if it's true.
- 20:35And that's really a quick rundown of festivals.
- 20:38We'll have more festival coverage next week as we get
- 20:40deeper into the season. Hellfest is coming at Dynamo
- 20:44this summer and Fire in the Mountains in Wyoming.
- 20:49So much stuff, so much stuff. What a time to be alive.
- 20:53Iron Maiden kicked off their tour last week.
- 20:56We have Iron Maiden, Metallica all touring at the same time as
- 21:01like a Black Sabbath farewell show.
- 21:03What a crazy time to be alive. But yeah, maidens on tour now.
- 21:08We'll be expecting some more Maiden news soon.
- 21:10You know, they, they're celebrating their 50th
- 21:12anniversary. There's a book coming out, a
- 21:14coffee table book, a new documentary about the band.
- 21:17Very exciting time for metal fans.
- 21:19Again, Metallica tickets went on sale this week for their 2026
- 21:22European shows. Hopefully that means they'll be
- 21:25announcing some shows in America, probably festivals and
- 21:30and again, I I feel like this is the end of the road for
- 21:33Metallica. They're really not going to do
- 21:34too much going forward. Just my two cents.
- 21:39I am not. I'm unsure there's no proof of
- 21:41that, but I just don't see how they're going to keep going year
- 21:44after year after year. So.
- 21:51And then, yeah, there's the Metallica dates running out the
- 21:53string. We also had ACDC on tour until
- 21:56last week. I mean, what a crazy time that
- 21:58week was. So here's the Black Sabbath
- 22:00shows, a week from today, the final Black Sabbath show.
- 22:03And you know, I got to be honest, like, again, I still
- 22:05have a lot of trepidation about it.
- 22:07We'll probably do something special as a review.
- 22:10I'm sure it'll be live streamed. I'm sure I'll watch it.
- 22:13But yeah, I just don't know how I feel about it.
- 22:16I think Ozzy is going to play barely any songs, maybe a song
- 22:19and a half, two songs, 3 songs from a chair.
- 22:22Every band is going to play a couple of songs in a Black
- 22:24Sabbath cover. Maybe some other singers will
- 22:26come out with Black Sabbath, Tony, Geezer and Bill and they
- 22:31will all sing Black Sabbath songs and Ozzy will do, you
- 22:33know, Paranoid, Iron Man and War Pigs a little bit.
- 22:38And I just don't know. I just don't know how good it'll
- 22:40be. OK, moving along.
- 22:47Fear of the dark word. I listened to fear of the Dark
- 22:49last night. It was pretty great.
- 22:51Cale Decapitation has been forced to do unforeseen
- 22:55circumstances, which you're going to hear a lot about this.
- 22:57Cancel their entire European Tour.
- 22:59They were about to leave for. This sucks.
- 23:01It's all about money. It's about the increase in visas
- 23:04and work visas to come in and out of Europe and Europeans to
- 23:07come here. It's about tariffs.
- 23:09It's about all these things. If you're a European and you
- 23:12love American bands, you're going to have to make do with
- 23:15all the bands in Europe. If you are American and your
- 23:17favorite metal comes from another continent, be patient.
- 23:20It's going to be a while till all these bands can come back.
- 23:24Kiko Laurero and Marty Freeman kicked off a Co headlining tour
- 23:28across South America and jammed together for the very first
- 23:32time. Unbelievable and fantastic.
- 23:35They covered an angry song. Kiko and Marty both have
- 23:38Megadeth songs in their set. I wouldn't be surprised if they
- 23:40go do some Megadeth together at some point too.
- 23:43We interviewed Marty not that long ago.
- 23:46I would love to interview Kiko about his solo career at some
- 23:48point in the in the past in the future.
- 23:50I've met him and he's super cool.
- 23:52I always seem to meet. I've met Glenn and Sean Drover.
- 23:56We've interviewed Chris Broderick when he was in
- 23:58Megadeth and in flames. It's kind of funny.
- 24:01The last time I interviewed Broderick, he was like, I have
- 24:03no comment on Megadeth whatsoever.
- 24:06I thought that was hilarious. May the Prince of butt.
- 24:10You know, I hope so, man. You know, I I just I know he
- 24:14wants to do the show and Sharon is made him a millionaire.
- 24:17Obliviator is here. Speed metal.
- 24:19Thanks. I'll check your band out.
- 24:21Pedro Pascal seems to be here. What's up Zaddy?
- 24:26Anyway? So yeah, man, I don't know.
- 24:28I just don't know. I don't think it's going to go
- 24:30well. I've been hearing all kinds of
- 24:32countering things. Also.
- 24:34Also, Jesus Lizard is wrapping up their last few dates in
- 24:38Europe until later in the year, then they have Japan.
- 24:42Stay tuned for some Jesus Lizard coverage from Ghost Cult as well
- 24:45as live album from the band. Probably next year.
- 24:49So Santa Torres wrapping up with their final few dates this week.
- 24:52We will have a review of the show coming soon.
- 24:56It's going to be pretty spectacular.
- 24:57I hope they do a volume 3. Doesn't sound like they want to,
- 25:01but you never know. Just a reminder, you can tip us
- 25:05if you want to. We appreciate you.
- 25:07Thanks so much. Again, friends, employees of
- 25:10Ghost Cult, no need to ever kind of tip us, but you know, if you
- 25:12want to support us, I'm grateful.
- 25:15Thank you. I host karaoke on Sundays and
- 25:19I'm always kind of pestering people for tips and it kind of
- 25:24makes me, you know, wins. But also like, that's what you
- 25:29got to do. You got to you got to be OK with
- 25:30asking for tips. Just a reminder, our affiliate
- 25:33partners are Lamb Goat. You know, the much meaner
- 25:35version of Ghost Cult is lambgoat.com for all your metal

- 25:56another fellow glasses wearing nerd like me, the busiest music
- 26:00reviewer on the Internet. Cool guy.
- 26:01And if you're watching this everywhere but sorry TikTok, you

- 26:28We're also on Twitch. We're on all the things blue
- 26:30sky. We've been going heavy there
- 26:32threads. Whatever you do, if you like us,
- 26:34find us on social media. We post the discord.
- 26:37We're in Reddit. Sometimes you can search Ghost
- 26:39Cult Mag or Ghost called Magazine on Reddit and check us
- 26:43out. And that was all the festivals
- 26:45and the concert tours and the news and the features.
- 26:47And now time for the rest of the news.
- 26:50And we're going to rapid fire through this shit because we got
- 26:53shit to do. Let's let's blow this up for a
- 26:55while and take me off screen. Boom, boom goes the dynamite.
- 27:01So check it out. I keep talking about the next
- 27:05wave of metal, the new, then the the new guard.
- 27:10The guard. The changing of the guard is
- 27:11happening now. Black Sabbath and Ozzy will
- 27:13never perform again soon. Metallica's winding down.
- 27:16Iron Maiden's got a couple of years left.
- 27:18They're already starting to lose classic members.
- 27:21Who are the next bands? Whether you love them or not,
- 27:23Ghost, Sleep, Token and Turnstile are opening things up
- 27:28for other bands. You're already seeing a band
- 27:30like Knock Loose and other bands follow in the footsteps of a
- 27:34turnstile and a scowl. So turnstile was on Fallon.
- 27:37They killed it. Their new albums coming out any
- 27:39day now. Their documentary is going to
- 27:41debut this weekend at Tribeca Film Festival.
- 27:44They are blowing up. This dumb photo from last week
- 27:49is actually John Rice. He is was in fact on tour within
- 27:53flames this week as they started the European festival run and a
- 27:57great drummer. You know him from his many many
- 28:01bands, formerly of 1,000,000 bands, but he's within flames
- 28:06for the summer at least. This is touring drummer.
- 28:07Interesting stuff after all these drummers and guitar
- 28:09players got the May acts in the last couple of weeks.
- 28:12Was just absolutely crazy. Nefarious is this new super
- 28:18group of Bay Area and classic thrash metal artist.
- 28:21Former and current members of Death Angel, Exodus, Hyrax,
- 28:26Kate, Katyn from Hyrax is the singer.
- 28:28This is an incredible band. They've got their dropped
- 28:31another piece of new music this week with a video.
- 28:33They've got their debut show July 19th here in San Francisco.
- 28:37Killer band. Great, great band.
- 28:39We've talked. We love Katyn and Will Carroll.
- 28:43I see Will all the time around town and Rick Renault from
- 28:47Exodus is on guitar and also with Die Humane.
- 28:49We've had a great couple of interviews with him also.
- 28:54Also one of my favorite bands ever and probably one of the
- 28:56most underrated bands. Should have been Bigger Failure
- 28:59from the mid 90s. Alternative rock and Hard and
- 29:02Metal band has a documentary coming out about them on Hulu
- 29:05later this month. I am so stoked for this and I
- 29:08hope I get to interview the band once again.
- 29:10I have interviewed a couple of members of the band in the past
- 29:13and I hope I get to again. Bands are reuniting like crazy.
- 29:18We had Mugvane a couple of years ago.
- 29:19Job for a Cowboy we predicted a while back they dropped the new
- 29:23album last year and now Primer 55 has returned.
- 29:27And I, we, I feel like right around New Year's we were
- 29:30talking about Bobby Burns, who just had like a terrible run
- 29:34with liver failure or kidney problems, but apparently he's
- 29:37well enough to put the band back together.
- 29:39Donnie the DRP, Polinski's back on vocals since Jason passed
- 29:44away. Josh Toomey on bass talking to
- 29:46me, the great podcaster and music journalist and Preston
- 29:49Nash, legendary fill in drummer and drummer for Primer.
- 29:54So be cool to see the band come back.
- 29:56They were a big Oz fest man fest band, right?
- 29:58The new metal second wave, the new metal if you will.
- 30:02Also also I set to kill us teasing new music maybe even as
- 30:08soon as tomorrow. I would be very excited about
- 30:11this. You know, they kind of should
- 30:13have also been a lot bigger. They were kind of a darling band
- 30:17about 15 years ago for Hot Second Twin sisters lead the
- 30:21band. One of them kind of retired
- 30:23temporarily and they're back now.
- 30:25So I'm super interested to see what new music they come out
- 30:28with. Cool band.
- 30:29We've interviewed them before. A long time ago.
- 30:32Max Mechanic, friend of Ghost Cults, got a new piece of music
- 30:36out 420. You can check that out wherever
- 30:38you listen to and buy music on Electric Talent Records.
- 30:41Very cool indie record label for psychedelic and Stoner rock in
- 30:45the East Coast. Here is Born Of Osiris.
- 30:48We told you last week they announced their new album.
- 30:50They've got a huge world tour they're on and they announced
- 30:53that Lee McKinney, they're shredding amazing guitar player
- 30:57has quit the band after many years to step down from the
- 30:59band. I believe that it's the rumor is
- 31:01he's going to go join a new version of As I Like Dying.
- 31:04Good luck to you there, Lee. The band has done a cattle call,
- 31:08a absolute cattle call anybody in the world audition.
- 31:11Send your audition videos into the band and maybe you too can
- 31:15join Born Of Osiris. I wouldn't do it that way, but
- 31:18they are. Good luck to y'all having to
- 31:20watch many many many hours of many hours of of a lot of that
- 31:28Good luck. Here's Burton C Bell dropped a
- 31:32new song last week, formerly a Fear Factory.
- 31:35He has been teasing he's going to drop like a single at a time
- 31:38and EP at a time. Never going to do a full album
- 31:41ever again. I love the current version of
- 31:43Fear Factory with their new singer and I also am moving for
- 31:47Burton. Dillinger Compound has returned.
- 31:51Welcome. Welcome back my friend to the
- 31:53show that sometimes ends. We are into the news rundown and
- 31:57we're almost done. We're almost done with the show.
- 31:59We rapid fired this mofo this week because I got shit to do.
- 32:02Curtis Neff is here. What's up?
- 32:03Welcome back Curtis and welcome back Pumpkin Jack.
- 32:06We've seen you here before and Max Devlin has been here before.
- 32:08Thank you, Stacey, thank you for dropping Bell.
- 32:11Yep, Bert. Man, I love Bert Sinenum.
- 32:16I don't know if I've ever said this band name correctly.
- 32:18Let's see, it's on the next slide.
- 32:20Since Sanum. Jesus Christ, I can never say
- 32:23this band correctly since Sanum or since Sanum.
- 32:25The band formerly led by Joey Jordison, formerly of Slipknot.
- 32:28He passed away a few years ago. The band crowdfunded a vinyl
- 32:32release of their classic album In Devastation.
- 32:35It is completed. They are not taking any more
- 32:38money. They will press 1000 of these
- 32:40things and sell them. And the band has announced
- 32:42they're going to do a one off tribute show to Joey later this
- 32:46year. Stay tuned for that if I think
- 32:48it's taking place in Hollywood and we will try to go cover it
- 32:52also also, I just love this thing.
- 32:54Sisters Mercy fun with titties. I mean, I'm the meme.
- 32:58I'm the meme guy. Rose Dolly Shop is here.
- 33:01Zombie Lives is here. And thank you for passing by
- 33:03Sylvia Dom Thanks for, you know, sticking through US.
- 33:06I appreciate it. Burton Siebel spoken word
- 33:15obsolete Tor cancel. Did he cancel the Torah?
- 33:17I don't remember. I mean, listen, man, it's just a
- 33:19fortune to go tour irrespective of Burton and anything going on
- 33:24with him. We covered he performed at the
- 33:28start of the year in LA opening for God Forbid, late in the year
- 33:31for a God Forbid. We were at those shows and all
- 33:34reports were he was marvelous. Now, can Burton hold up for a
- 33:37whole tour? It remains to be seen.
- 33:40I'm a big believer in positivity.
- 33:42I've always been a fan of the guy.
- 33:44He did struggle at times when the band over toured when he was
- 33:48in Fear Factory. But again, he almost created a
- 33:52whole singing style to go from absolutely brutal as you can be
- 33:57to singing melodically and beautifully.
- 33:59So, you know, hard to hard to keep that up at, you know, 50
- 34:04something years old. I can't do the things I used to
- 34:06do at 50 something years old, can you?
- 34:09But anyhow, anyhow, we're almost done with the show.
- 34:11It's time for new music. Friday 666 tomorrow, the
- 34:14International Day of Slayer. And what a day it is.
- 34:18Let's talk about the records coming out.
- 34:20It is the busiest time of the year almost.
- 34:23It's, you know, April, May, June, August, September,
- 34:26October, early November, just slammed with new music.
- 34:30So you can't, there's nothing good to listen to.
- 34:32You didn't try. Somebody tells me they didn't
- 34:34find anything good to hear. They did not try.
- 34:37So I'm going to read off the albums coming out tomorrow, band
- 34:40name, album name, label, if they have one, and a genre.
- 34:44You tell me if any of these are interesting to you and I'll tell
- 34:47you my opinions if I have any on the things I've heard already.

- 34:55alt rock. Austere.

- 35:40metal like this band for your help.
- 35:41This bitter garden on Three dot recordings.
- 35:43That's the record label owned by Misha Mansor of Periphery.
- 35:48So you know progressive will leave Italy.
- 35:50Guitar music, Fuzz riders. I like it on Electric Valley
- 35:55Records. Great label.
- 35:56I'm a fan of Italian Stoner rock.
- 35:58The great Galls word gall of Gold Rocks solo band parading
- 36:02the stories. I've already heard this record
- 36:04on Season and missed for some great progressive avant-garde
- 36:07black metal. Another record I'm super high on
- 36:10this week, Ghosta Berlings Saga, Forever Now and Pelagic Records.
- 36:14For some avant-garde music. The great Def tribute band
- 36:18Gruesome, led by Matt Harvey of Exhumed and a bunch of other
- 36:22bands. Silent Echoes on Relapse
- 36:24records, Holy Roller Rat King on Ripple.

- 36:505th record on Frontiers SRL, the Italian progressive rock British
- 36:55rock record label. Catatonia's new album, their
- 36:59first officially without Anders Nystrom, although he hasn't been
- 37:02on the last three records. Nightmares as extensions of the
- 37:05Waking state. I listened to this already.
- 37:06It's a banger. Napalm Records.
- 37:08Not quite as brutal as they used to be, but it's still very heavy
- 37:11and sad. Another one that I love this
- 37:14week, King Parrot, a young person, a young person's guide
- 37:16to King Parrot. I listened to this whole record.
- 37:18I interviewed Yungi, that's going to come up in a few weeks.
- 37:21Out on House Core Records for some great grind core and death
- 37:24metal. Lehra Reverie on Sub Sound
- 37:27Records for some post metal and doom metal.
- 37:29Mystic Circle the great heavy metal band with their new album

- 38:42Oh defos on Influenza Records, A2 Influenza Records for some
- 38:47more noise rock and post hardcore.
- 38:49And that is all of the stuff. Got a feeling it might be all
- 38:55Dino Cazares dillinger's out about Burton.
- 38:57Obviously, right? And yeah, I don't know.
- 39:01I don't know, you know, it's hard to know.
- 39:04Dino has said everything he can say about the subject.
- 39:07I don't know what more people want from the guy.
- 39:09Hey, we have a great band, one of the most influential killer
- 39:12bands of all time. Hey, the most of the members
- 39:15don't get along. Hey, I tried everything I could
- 39:17to keep at least me and the singer together.
- 39:19We started this thing. The singer absolutely cannot be
- 39:22a member of our band for a lot of reasons, especially legal
- 39:25ones that he probably caused or that we're beyond his control.
- 39:29Dino, I either lose my band completely and start over from
- 39:32scratch, or I preserve my band and put a new lineup of guys
- 39:35together. Which one do you want?
- 39:37I want the band to preserve. That's me.
- 39:40That's where my head is at. That was the And now it's time
- 39:42for the mailbag. That was it.
- 39:43And I got a fun thing in this week's mailbag.
- 39:45So I did some spring cleaning this week.
- 39:47I'm tidying up my apartment and I found an unopened.
- 39:52I had an unopened box from Funko.
- 39:54I must have got it, brought it home, set it down, piled some
- 39:58shit on top of it and forgot it existed.
- 40:00Do you ever have shit like that? I'm definitely in my old man
- 40:03phase. Get off my lawn.
- 40:06When I found this box and it's and it was from Funko and
- 40:09actually a Funko I bought from a company called Entertainment
- 40:13Earth. We used to do an affiliate deal
- 40:15with them. I don't know if you've seen it,
- 40:16so I'm going to unbox this. I know what it is because I saw
- 40:19the bill of lading the label inside, but I had never looked
- 40:24at this thing. So let me put myself back on
- 40:26screen. Hey, it's me and I'll just take
- 40:30this out all together. Hey, it's me.
- 40:32What's up? And I have this Funko here.
- 40:34You guys can see me unbox it. I knew what it was.
- 40:37I I was like, I remember, like what I do with this thing.
- 40:39Where'd it go? Why don't I have this thing
- 40:41handy? Beautifully wrapped.
- 40:44Mostly, you know, I buy Funkos a little less.
- 40:48You know, recently, I don't know if you guys have seen like fun
- 40:52codes have gone up in price. Super Seven had to lay off a
- 40:55bunch of people. I have one of the Super 7
- 40:57flagship stores in my neighborhood, actually a short
- 40:59walk from my house, maybe 1520 minutes tops.
- 41:02And you know, I'm bummed about that and I don't want anybody to
- 41:05lose their job. But I got this fun code in the
- 41:08mail a year ago and I never opened it.
- 41:11So I think I was going to unbox 2 fun codes.
- 41:14I got these at the same time and so I forgot completely that I
- 41:19had it. So here it is.
- 41:21This paper is an ordeal. Isn't it ASMR paper?
- 41:33And it is a Funko of Mick Thompson from Slipknot.
- 41:36And I got this at the same time. This was a brand new release
- 41:40when the V Man Funko came out. And I have a bunch of Corey's
- 41:43and I have a clown somewhere. And so we got Mick.
- 41:47And so let's unbox this Funko of Mick Thompson because I have
- 41:50never, never opened it. I forgot I had it.
- 41:55I don't know what I'm doing. I don't know what I'm doing.
- 41:58If I'm doing it right, cool. Here's the front of the package.
- 42:02And here's the back, of course, with the clown Jay, who is now
- 42:06out of the band, and Mick. Collect them all.
- 42:09They'll have to get one for Eloy.
- 42:10It usually takes a few years for them to, you know, make the
- 42:12moles that come from China, by the way, China.
- 42:16And we'll see how much these Funkos cost.
- 42:19I know, you know, they went ham on all these licenses and stuff,
- 42:23but I want I love toys. You know, we've gone to Comic
- 42:26Con and San Diego Comic Con and New York Comic Con is coming up
- 42:28again. All these things are happening
- 42:30and I'd like Ghost Cult to continue to be a part of these
- 42:32communities. So I usually do comic book and
- 42:35geek stuff. I interviewed a lot of comic
- 42:37book creators and writers in my time.
- 42:39So here's this very cool. This is the black Jumpsuited
- 42:42Mick Thompson. I didn't get my second camera
- 42:44out. He's got his arms crossed, like
- 42:46most people at a black metal show, like most pure metal fans.
- 42:50That their girlfriend took them to the Slipknot show and they're
- 42:52really angry, so they stand in the back like this sucks.
- 42:56Slipknot fucking rules. Mick rules.
- 42:58He's got very cool long hair. I don't know if you're a big fan
- 43:02of Mick's wife, Stacy does a tremendous Instagram behind the
- 43:08scenes account of all the Slipknot goings ONS.
- 43:11So definitely check out her and follow her.
- 43:14Mick doesn't do much social media.
- 43:15It's got the killer, I believe Ibanez guitar.
- 43:19It's pretty fucking bad ass. I got to say, I really do love
- 43:21this thing and I will sit it here on the computer station
- 43:25here with my Dio and my Funko of me.
- 43:30Here's a Funko Kefi that was made for me by my friends.
- 43:33Look, it's even got a trucker hat.
- 43:35Look at this. Look at the resemblance.
- 43:37Pretty. It's pretty uncanny, isn't it?
- 43:40So that's the show. I'm going to leave Mick out
- 43:42here. I have about four or five dozen
- 43:43of these fun codes and super sevens.
- 43:45But yeah, I don't know. I forgot all about this thing
- 43:48that I had. Unbelievable.
- 43:50And that is our show. That is our show.
- 43:53You know, we reached another one.
- 43:54You could spend your time with anyone, but you spent it with
- 43:56me. Thanks so much for hanging out.
- 43:58Hi, Brooke. We're taking off.
- 43:59Hi, Dog Wizard. We're taking off, but thanks for
- 44:01being here. Subscribe and like and follow us
- 44:04on all the things so you find out when we go live again next
- 44:06week. And be safe out there this
- 44:09weekend. Please don't drink and drive.
- 44:10And as we say every week at this juncture of the show, it's a
- 44:13tough time in the world. So please take care of each
- 44:15other, take care of yourselves and stay as metal as humanly
- 44:18possible. And I'm going to dance a jig on
- 44:20the way out. Peace and grease y'all.
- 44:22Have a great weekend. No more live stream in the
- 44:48middle of the night. I promise peace.
