- 0:06Speaker 1: Three rounds into twenty twenty six, and we're already looking
- 0:10Speaker 1: ahead to next year because the twenty twenty seven grid
- 0:13Speaker 1: is playing musical chairs, except there's twenty two riders, twenty seats,
- 0:16Speaker 1: and at least forty five plus egos involved here. But
- 0:20Speaker 1: today we're gonna dive into the most chaotic silly season
- 0:24Speaker 1: we've ever seen. Champions are getting pushed out, rookies are
- 0:28Speaker 1: stealing factory seats, and apparently you Caddy is just saying,
- 0:31Speaker 1: you know what, let's just sign everyone. But the best
- 0:33Speaker 1: part is is because by the time you guys are
- 0:36Speaker 1: listening to this, we could be half wrong already. Moto
- 0:39Speaker 1: GP silly season. Contracts are temporary, but rumors are forever.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Welcome back to Pittalk, and this episode is brought to
- 0:48Speaker 1: you by Shannon's Insurance. I'm your host Ronita vmullen. Joining
- 0:52Speaker 1: me is Matt Clayton, who, if given the chance, would
- 0:55Speaker 1: reshuffle the entire grid purely just for the plot and
- 0:58Speaker 1: the entertainment purposes.
- 0:59Speaker 2: Matt wrong there, No, you're completely right when you said
- 1:03Speaker 2: that we were going to be half wrong. The way
- 1:05Speaker 2: you should have framed that is we're actually going to
- 1:06Speaker 2: be half right, like I like to go glass half
- 1:08Speaker 2: fullard these sorts of things. I don't tend to linger
- 1:10Speaker 2: on the ones that I've got wrong. But you know
- 1:12Speaker 2: what's weird about this is that you said before we're
- 1:15Speaker 2: three rounds in to twenty twenty six, and if you
- 1:18Speaker 2: believed what we thought preseason was going to be, Like
- 1:21Speaker 2: I almost thought we'd have the entire grid sorted by now,
- 1:24Speaker 2: and it's been so strange that we're in April and
- 1:28Speaker 2: there's still this. You know, we think we know where
- 1:30Speaker 2: people are going, but until there are actual announcements, whether
- 1:33Speaker 2: their normal press releases telling you that someone assigned with
- 1:36Speaker 2: someone or someone getting married to their bike, which we
- 1:39Speaker 2: actually have see this year, then nothing's actually official. So
- 1:42Speaker 2: the last ride of signing we actually had for twenty
- 1:45Speaker 2: twenty seven involved someone getting married to their bike. That
- 1:48Speaker 2: was in Malaysia, which feels like six months ago.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Well yeah, the surpaying preseason tests, which was what the
- 1:55Speaker 1: end of January, early February, it does see like six
- 1:58Speaker 1: months ago. I mean we're early April now, but you
- 2:01Speaker 1: think we've had three races plus one cancelation the Flyaways.
- 2:05Speaker 1: There's been so much drama on track with the Prilier dominating.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Where the hell is Mark Marquez at the moment?
- 2:10Speaker 3: Et cetera, et cetera.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Yeah, but then you go off track and it's the rumors,
- 2:14Speaker 1: like you said, but we know there's about four contracts
- 2:18Speaker 1: apparently signed right which we'll go through after. But my question,
- 2:23Speaker 1: Matt to you is why haven't we had these announcements
- 2:26Speaker 1: because normally you get you hear that there's someone signed,
- 2:29Speaker 1: the announcement comes two or three weeks later and there's
- 2:32Speaker 1: your news.
- 2:32Speaker 3: What's happening with that stuff?
- 2:35Speaker 2: Yeah, So I wrote a big piece for Fox Sports
- 2:37Speaker 2: during the week here in Australia and it's one of
- 2:40Speaker 2: those things where we're in this holding pattern at the
- 2:43Speaker 2: moment simply because the contract that I was going to say,
- 2:46Speaker 2: Dawnavut Motor GP Sports and Entertainment have with the five
- 2:49Speaker 2: manufacturers and the eleven teams that runs out at the
- 2:53Speaker 2: end of this year. So there's negotiations going on for
- 2:56Speaker 2: the next contract for the following five years to operate
- 2:59Speaker 2: Motorg effectively. And the sticking point with all of this
- 3:03Speaker 2: is that you think of what's happened since the last
- 3:05Speaker 2: contract was signed to Now Liberty Media is now involved
- 3:08Speaker 2: and the teams in the manufacturers are looking at what
- 3:10Speaker 2: Liberty did to Formula one and just you know, the
- 3:13Speaker 2: size of the Formula one pie has grown so much
- 3:16Speaker 2: since Liberty got involved. In the past, the manufacturers have
- 3:20Speaker 2: taken like a fixed amount of revenue. For example, so
- 3:23Speaker 2: order sport a reporter, it's about eight million euro for
- 3:26Speaker 2: the manufacturers. The manufacturers now are coming together and saying,
- 3:30Speaker 2: we don't want to fix them ount here because this
- 3:31Speaker 2: pie is just going to get considerably bigger. You think
- 3:34Speaker 2: how much bigger Motor GP could be in twenty thirty one, right,
- 3:37Speaker 2: that's when this next contract goes to. So the manufacturers
- 3:40Speaker 2: are saying, we'd like a percentage based of the overall revenue,
- 3:44Speaker 2: which is smart if you're the manufacturers. And that's become
- 3:48Speaker 2: the sticking point now in that the promoters are saying, well,
- 3:51Speaker 2: hang on a sec, we've never had this before, and look,
- 3:53Speaker 2: these things will be resolved for two reasons. One, it's
- 3:56Speaker 2: not like the five manufacturers can just go and say well,
- 3:59Speaker 2: we're just going in some other series. Then there isn't
- 4:01Speaker 2: another series. It always comes down to who gets the
- 4:05Speaker 2: majority of the money and where's all the money going. So,
- 4:07Speaker 2: as always with these things, money talks. The interesting part
- 4:11Speaker 2: here is that the teams have basically got together and said, well,
- 4:14Speaker 2: we can control the motor TP news cycle here and
- 4:16Speaker 2: all of these anticipated rider signings and announcements that we've
- 4:20Speaker 2: got a bit of a taste of before preseason. They've
- 4:22Speaker 2: basically come together and said, let's just press pause on
- 4:25Speaker 2: all of this while we work out this bigger picture
- 4:27Speaker 2: as to what's going on with the series.
- 4:30Speaker 4: So I sort of likened it earlier in.
- 4:31Speaker 2: The week that we had this flood of ride and
- 4:35Speaker 2: news coming out at the start of the season, but
- 4:37Speaker 2: none of it was confirmed, and the teams have just
- 4:39Speaker 2: decided to screw the taps really, really tight, so that
- 4:41Speaker 2: that flood has turned into a trickle that's turned into nothing.
- 4:44Speaker 2: And so right now we think we know where a
- 4:47Speaker 2: lot of the grid's going for next year, but unless
- 4:49Speaker 2: something is announced, it's not announced and it's not formal.
- 4:52Speaker 2: So you've got this bizarre situation where there's seventeen riders
- 4:56Speaker 2: on the current grid who don't officially have a contract
- 5:00Speaker 2: for next year, and we're three rounds into this seasons
- 5:03Speaker 2: thirty five guys that have actually got confirmed deals right now. Yes,
- 5:05Speaker 2: there's others that we know are going to happen, but
- 5:07Speaker 2: nothing's official until it's official. And so the first domino
- 5:11Speaker 2: that needs to fall here is the teams and manufacturers
- 5:13Speaker 2: need to come up with a deal that everyone's happy
- 5:16Speaker 2: with with the promoters and then and only then are
- 5:19Speaker 2: the writer announcement's going to flow. But it might still
- 5:22Speaker 2: take a while. Yeah, and you know, we said this
- 5:23Speaker 2: off the top. We're here in April. I thought personally
- 5:26Speaker 2: it was going to be done by now, like the
- 5:28Speaker 2: whole grid would just about be sorted for twenty seven.
- 5:30Speaker 4: And you know what's really.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Interesting now is that a deal that you might have
- 5:34Speaker 2: thought was a great deal in February, you might be
- 5:37Speaker 2: you know that I was saying about buyer's remorse, right,
- 5:39Speaker 2: there might be some teams going, oh no, I wish
- 5:41Speaker 2: we hadn't signed that guy, Or there might be some
- 5:43Speaker 2: riders going, oh no, why did I commit to this one?
- 5:45Speaker 2: So the longer this goes, the more variables come into play.
- 5:49Speaker 2: So it's really interesting for us. But we're kind of
- 5:51Speaker 2: in this stalemate, an't we.
- 5:54Speaker 1: It's so funny you're saying that I'm already thinking of
- 5:56Speaker 1: writers and potential teams and moves, and that will get
- 5:58Speaker 1: into shortly. But that you said, the domino's got a fall. Okay,
- 6:02Speaker 1: we know the domino's got to fall from the teams,
- 6:04Speaker 1: but I feel like there's another important domino because I
- 6:07Speaker 1: keep hearing these rumors about potentially Mark Marquez not returning
- 6:12Speaker 1: next year. Yeah, Okay, it's a rumor and it's a
- 6:15Speaker 1: wild rumor. But if that's the case, that's going to
- 6:18Speaker 1: shift the whole grid. Because I know in earlier pods
- 6:20Speaker 1: we spoke about the fact of once Mark makes it
- 6:23Speaker 1: like it's locked in for Mark, the rest of everything's
- 6:26Speaker 1: going to happen, but now even more so with the
- 6:28Speaker 1: fact that he might.
- 6:29Speaker 3: Not even be here.
- 6:31Speaker 2: Well, see, here's the interesting part with this, Right the
- 6:33Speaker 2: last time Mark, the last time there was so much
- 6:36Speaker 2: rider Mark at Chaos and we'll remember this weekend probably
- 6:39Speaker 2: forever Emoto GP. It was Magello twenty twenty four where
- 6:42Speaker 2: we went into that weekend basically expecting the announcement that
- 6:46Speaker 2: Jorge Martin was going from Pramak to Catty as it
- 6:48Speaker 2: was at the time, to the factory Ducati team to
- 6:50Speaker 2: be Pecobagno as teammate for twenty twenty five and beyond,
- 6:54Speaker 2: and that would involve Mark going from Grassini to Pramac,
- 6:58Speaker 2: and Mark has always known.
- 7:00Speaker 4: His power in the rider market.
- 7:02Speaker 2: He did not want to go and write for Pramak
- 7:04Speaker 2: if he was going to stay at Ducati. He wanted
- 7:06Speaker 2: to be in the big team, no matter whether it
- 7:08Speaker 2: undid all of the other plans that everybody had, and
- 7:12Speaker 2: we know how that played out. He basically, I remember
- 7:15Speaker 2: the words he used in that press conference. He said,
- 7:17Speaker 2: Pramak is not an option for me, and those seven
- 7:21Speaker 2: words completely turned the rider market upside down because of
- 7:25Speaker 2: all of the ripple effects of that. He basically forced
- 7:28Speaker 2: Ducatti into a corner and said, well, you've seen my
- 7:30Speaker 2: data for half a season. If you're prepared for me
- 7:32Speaker 2: to walk, then fine, and almost called u Catti's bluff
- 7:36Speaker 2: a little bit, so Dukadi were like, well, okay, we've
- 7:38Speaker 2: got to put this guy up next to Banyaya. The
- 7:40Speaker 2: ripple effects to that, Jorge Martin, who thought he was
- 7:43Speaker 2: going to be in red leathers for twenty twenty five,
- 7:44Speaker 2: he just immediately quits Ducati altogether and goes to Aprillia.
- 7:49Speaker 2: Pramak quits Ducati and goes to Yamaha, and then all
- 7:53Speaker 2: of the rider market Shenanigan's Marco Berzeki changed, Pedro Costa
- 7:57Speaker 2: change and Ao Bastin, and he was suddenly looking for
- 7:59Speaker 2: a new gig. Maverick Nalez is moving. Marquez is like
- 8:02Speaker 2: you know when you see someone throw a stone into
- 8:04Speaker 2: a pond and the ripple effect that follows. Marquez tossed
- 8:06Speaker 2: the stone at Magello and we spent the rest of
- 8:09Speaker 2: twenty twenty four working out what the ripple effects of
- 8:12Speaker 2: that were.
- 8:13Speaker 4: Now.
- 8:13Speaker 2: I only mentioned that for the context of where Mark
- 8:16Speaker 2: is now because last year he got the world title.
- 8:19Speaker 2: That had been the thing that had been driving him
- 8:21Speaker 2: since twenty twenty. It took him five to six years
- 8:24Speaker 2: to get back to where he was, but he eventually
- 8:26Speaker 2: got back there. And you have to wonder from his
- 8:29Speaker 2: point of view, this has been the thing that probably
- 8:31Speaker 2: got him out of bed to train every morning and
- 8:34Speaker 2: to do all the rehab and to do all the
- 8:36Speaker 2: uncomfortable things. That was his motivation for five to six years.
- 8:41Speaker 2: Now he doesn't have that goal anymore because he's achieved
- 8:45Speaker 2: this thing that he put everything into for so so long.
- 8:48Speaker 2: I think we saw how much that weighed on him
- 8:50Speaker 2: last year when he won the title at Motegi. Because
- 8:52Speaker 2: of how emotional he was, and that was probably something
- 8:55Speaker 2: that we weren't expecting. That's just five years of really
- 8:59Speaker 2: really difficult time. I'm and anguish coming out in that
- 9:01Speaker 2: one afternoon. But what's Mark's motivation now? And you have
- 9:05Speaker 2: to wonder. He's the second oldest rider on the grid,
- 9:08Speaker 2: He's got his seventh world title, the one that he
- 9:10Speaker 2: really wanted. He doesn't strike me as a guy who
- 9:13Speaker 2: is thinking I want nine, ten eleven world titles, I
- 9:16Speaker 2: want a hundred wins, I want this, I want that.
- 9:19Speaker 2: He's got all the money that he needs. He's also
- 9:21Speaker 2: probably very mindful every time he rubs his right shoulder
- 9:24Speaker 2: when he gets out of bed every single morning, of
- 9:26Speaker 2: the bullets that he has dodged with all of these
- 9:29Speaker 2: surgeries on that particular side of his body. And so
- 9:32Speaker 2: what's Mark's motivation now? That's the key thing for me,
- 9:36Speaker 2: and you talked about is he going to be here
- 9:38Speaker 2: next year or the year after a lot of these
- 9:40Speaker 2: contracts are signed in two year cycles a lot of
- 9:42Speaker 2: the time, and so part of me is wondering, I
- 9:45Speaker 2: don't know if he necessarily wants a two year contract.
- 9:48Speaker 2: He might want one because you could go and do
- 9:50Speaker 2: twenty twenty seven and think, ugh, maybe the decade's not
- 9:53Speaker 2: so great. I don't know, because no one knows what
- 9:55Speaker 2: these new bike is going to be like next year.
- 9:57Speaker 2: So until he commits, and how long he commits for.
- 10:02Speaker 2: If he doesn't want to sign with Ducatti, for example,
- 10:04Speaker 2: every other manufacturer would move mountains to get Mark because
- 10:08Speaker 2: we know that he's the ultimate difference maker in motor GP.
- 10:11Speaker 2: So yeah, we've got all this contract impass going on
- 10:14Speaker 2: with the manufacturers and the promoters right now. But Mark's
- 10:17Speaker 2: future and how long he goes for. He's not going
- 10:20Speaker 2: to be a guy that hangs around longer than he's
- 10:23Speaker 2: used by date, right. I mean he has teammates with
- 10:25Speaker 2: Danny Padrosa, and Padrosa's decline in those last few years,
- 10:28Speaker 2: he was not the writer that he was, And of
- 10:30Speaker 2: course Mark's great rival, Valentino Rossi was a bit of
- 10:33Speaker 2: a shell of himself by the end of his career.
- 10:35Speaker 2: You know, you'd have to say that Rossie did hang
- 10:37Speaker 2: on too long in the end, probably two or three
- 10:39Speaker 2: years too long. And so Mark would have seen all
- 10:42Speaker 2: of this. He knows he doesn't need the money, He's
- 10:44Speaker 2: got the title that he wanted, and he's still relatively
- 10:48Speaker 2: and I use that in air quotes healthy in terms
- 10:50Speaker 2: of the fact that he's still able to compete at
- 10:52Speaker 2: the level that he is despite all the injuries he's.
- 10:54Speaker 4: Had over the years.
- 10:56Speaker 2: There's a lot weighing in to Mark's decision. I reckon
- 10:59Speaker 2: for next year, and you cannot tell me that if
- 11:02Speaker 2: he decided that he was hedging on decadory ad he
- 11:04Speaker 2: wanted one year or whatever it might be, every other
- 11:07Speaker 2: manufacturer would pick the phone up and ask if they
- 11:10Speaker 2: could get him, because he's still the biggest difference maker
- 11:12Speaker 2: in the sport. The only question for me is how
- 11:14Speaker 2: long does he want to keep doing this, because what's
- 11:16Speaker 2: there left to achieve for him.
- 11:18Speaker 1: We spoke about that on the last episode with Kiko,
- 11:21Speaker 1: because we talked about how Mark with the US and
- 11:25Speaker 1: how it was really just I was not expecting it.
- 11:28Speaker 3: We thought going into this weekend.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Oh, Mark will actually put up a decent fight. Anyway,
- 11:33Speaker 1: Listen to the previous episode with Kiko because he gave
- 11:35Speaker 1: us what he heard from Mark on in the post
- 11:38Speaker 1: race and everything like that. But I'm kind of in
- 11:42Speaker 1: this same boat at the moment with Mark. I'm really
- 11:45Speaker 1: curious to see how he goes, And I've been taking
- 11:49Speaker 1: a leaf from your book and I've been trying to
- 11:51Speaker 1: watch his body language on.
- 11:52Speaker 3: And off track.
- 11:53Speaker 1: That's probably the biggest thing for me because we're seeing
- 11:56Speaker 1: like a real difference and I noticed that in the US,
- 11:58Speaker 1: a real difference in and Mark.
- 12:00Speaker 3: And how he's going.
- 12:01Speaker 1: But my biggest thing in my mind is how much
- 12:06Speaker 1: is he wanting to really try and beat Valentino Rossi's
- 12:11Speaker 1: results and his achievements. Is that something that is going
- 12:15Speaker 1: to motivate him in this last little bit, or is
- 12:18Speaker 1: twenty seven new rules, new rags, him riding a bike
- 12:21Speaker 1: more used to what he more like what he was
- 12:24Speaker 1: used to when he first came to MotoGP. Is that
- 12:26Speaker 1: something he's interested in? It's really hard to tell right now.
- 12:29Speaker 3: With Mark, I feel, yeah, yeah, it is.
- 12:32Speaker 2: I reckon if I was to rank those two things,
- 12:34Speaker 2: I think the you know, wanting to know, there'll be
- 12:38Speaker 2: a curiosity with Marcus to what's this new book motor
- 12:40Speaker 2: GP going to be like and if the bikes are
- 12:43Speaker 2: going to be going back to something that's a bit
- 12:45Speaker 2: more basic, if you can call MotoGP basic, you know,
- 12:48Speaker 2: taking a lot of the arrow off and the ride
- 12:50Speaker 2: height devices and what have you. There are all things
- 12:52Speaker 2: to me that take away from maybe his natural ability
- 12:56Speaker 2: to ride a bike. Now we know that you could
- 12:57Speaker 2: put all those things on the bike and he could
- 12:59Speaker 2: still win anyway. But I think if you make it
- 13:01Speaker 2: a bit more back in the hands of the rider,
- 13:03Speaker 2: then the rider's skill comes to the forefront a lot more,
- 13:06Speaker 2: which plays right into his strong suit. I don't know
- 13:09Speaker 2: so much. Look the Rossie thing. I'm sure at the
- 13:11Speaker 2: end of the day he would like to beat Rossi's records,
- 13:13Speaker 2: but I don't know if that's a massive motivator for him.
- 13:16Speaker 4: To me.
- 13:16Speaker 2: The thing about last year's title with him was that
- 13:20Speaker 2: I reckon he would have spent a good part of
- 13:22Speaker 2: the last five years almost beating himself up to a
- 13:25Speaker 2: degree because what happened in twenty twenty, the accident that
- 13:27Speaker 2: he had at her Reth at the start of that season,
- 13:29Speaker 2: the COVID delayed season. That's just an accident. It happened
- 13:32Speaker 2: to anybody. He was the one who decided to come
- 13:34Speaker 2: back too soon. Was he was so hell bent on
- 13:37Speaker 2: getting back he tried to race a week later. You
- 13:39Speaker 2: remember having insane That wasn't the time, And that was
- 13:42Speaker 2: the first thing that set in chain three or four
- 13:44Speaker 2: years of multiple surgeries and misery, and then the Hondas
- 13:48Speaker 2: program lost its way, and so on and so forth.
- 13:50Speaker 2: But it came back to that decision of his to
- 13:54Speaker 2: rush back when he wasn't ready because he didn't want
- 13:57Speaker 2: to lose what he'd earned in twenty nineteen and eighteen.
- 14:00Speaker 2: And I reckon he probably kicked himself a little bit
- 14:02Speaker 2: for that ever since, because he realized that he wasn't invincible,
- 14:06Speaker 2: and it took him five years to get back and
- 14:08Speaker 2: a hell of a lot of anguish to get back
- 14:10Speaker 2: to where he wanted to be. When you focused on
- 14:13Speaker 2: something for that long, and because that was the decision
- 14:16Speaker 2: that you made, so there's no one else to blame
- 14:17Speaker 2: except yourself, you would not be surprised to think, now,
- 14:22Speaker 2: where's the motivation coming from?
- 14:24Speaker 4: Now?
- 14:24Speaker 2: It's not financial. He's done so much winning. I don't
- 14:28Speaker 2: think there's a number that he would aim at until
- 14:30Speaker 2: you can find that external motivation. What you said before
- 14:33Speaker 2: about I wonder what these new bikes are like and
- 14:36Speaker 2: can I win on those? That might be something that
- 14:38Speaker 2: gets him back. But in terms of I think he's
- 14:41Speaker 2: already achieved the greatest thing in his own mind that
- 14:44Speaker 2: he will ever achieve in that he came back and
- 14:46Speaker 2: was able to win again and that closed the circle
- 14:48Speaker 2: on that story. But in terms of the ROSSI records
- 14:51Speaker 2: and where he sits in.
- 14:52Speaker 4: History, I don't think.
- 14:53Speaker 2: I mean, he's pretty secure in his place in history.
- 14:55Speaker 4: Right.
- 14:55Speaker 2: We all know how good the guy is, and historically
- 14:58Speaker 2: people will look back in fifty years and go man,
- 15:00Speaker 2: and that Mark Marquez guy was pretty special. I don't
- 15:02Speaker 2: think he needs to do any more winning of championships
- 15:04Speaker 2: necessarily to change his legacy. But maybe it's the twenty
- 15:07Speaker 2: twenty seven rule reset and let's see what these new
- 15:10Speaker 2: bikes are like that gets him back for next year.
- 15:13Speaker 2: And the only question is whether it's next year and
- 15:15Speaker 2: the year after. That's the biggest question for me. I
- 15:17Speaker 2: just don't see him. A lot of these guys have
- 15:19Speaker 2: just signed two year contracts because that's what you do.
- 15:21Speaker 2: I'm not sure with Mark if that's the case.
- 15:24Speaker 1: Well, like you said, he's got a legacy, and I
- 15:26Speaker 1: feel like we've given Mark enough airtime on this podcast
- 15:29Speaker 1: so far, So let's move on to the rumors that
- 15:34Speaker 1: we know are true. And we're saying that we know
- 15:37Speaker 1: because everybody says that they know and every outlet's reported
- 15:40Speaker 1: on them.
- 15:41Speaker 3: But here's what we believe. Quadero, where's he going?
- 15:45Speaker 2: Matt So the musical chairs game. So let's let's let
- 15:50Speaker 2: me go back one step before you go to the
- 15:52Speaker 2: ones that we don't necessarily know but we think we do.
- 15:54Speaker 2: There's actually five riders who we absolutely know where they
- 15:57Speaker 2: are going to be next year. Elsie R Honda are
- 16:01Speaker 2: going to have Joan Zako and Diogo Marera. They're both contracted.
- 16:04Speaker 2: Top Rac has a contract with Yamaha for twenty seven,
- 16:07Speaker 2: Marco Perzeki and getting married to his bike in Sepang.
- 16:10Speaker 2: As we discussed, he's contracted with a Prili to the
- 16:12Speaker 2: end of twenty eight.
- 16:13Speaker 4: And the other one that.
- 16:14Speaker 2: Was done kind of quietly was and obviously was Docatti
- 16:17Speaker 2: exercising its option on Ferminaldeger So that was I mean,
- 16:21Speaker 2: that made complete sense to stick with him because he's
- 16:23Speaker 2: clearly been.
- 16:24Speaker 4: Very, very good.
- 16:24Speaker 2: So they're the five that we actually know. But in
- 16:26Speaker 2: terms of you remember h good.
- 16:31Speaker 1: Wait wait wait, because Furman, we don't know if he's
- 16:34Speaker 1: saying it. Grissini, so yeah, he's got a contract, but
- 16:37Speaker 1: we don't know what team he's going to, so we need.
- 16:39Speaker 3: To touch on that way.
- 16:41Speaker 2: Yeah, we will touch on that one later. But I
- 16:42Speaker 2: guess the key ones you're discussing there. The first of
- 16:45Speaker 2: the big ones that came to light late in January
- 16:48Speaker 2: but hasn't actually formerly been announced yet, is.
- 16:50Speaker 4: That Fabio Quadra will go to Honda from Yamaha.
- 16:53Speaker 2: And then the knock on effect that that creates an
- 16:56Speaker 2: open seat at Yamaha, which we believe Jorge Martin's going to.
- 17:00Speaker 2: Jge Martin leaving a Prillier creates an open seed at
- 17:02Speaker 2: a priller which we believe pecap Anaya is going to,
- 17:05Speaker 2: and that creates an open seeded to Catti, which we
- 17:08Speaker 2: believe Pedro Acosta is going to. And those four names
- 17:12Speaker 2: that I mentioned there, they're four of the best, what
- 17:15Speaker 2: six riders of Moto GP to think that they're all
- 17:17Speaker 2: going to be changing teams for next year. I mentioned
- 17:20Speaker 2: before about the concept of buyers regret you do wonder
- 17:23Speaker 2: Jorgey Martine sprint race winning, Jorgey Martin, second place in
- 17:27Speaker 2: the World Championship, Jorjey Martin on a Prillier. He must
- 17:30Speaker 2: scan a very very very long way down the time
- 17:33Speaker 2: sheets until he finds a Yamaha and thinks to himself,
- 17:35Speaker 2: what on earth am I doing? But this is how
- 17:38Speaker 2: Holley Martin rolls. We've seen this before. So if anyone
- 17:42Speaker 2: was going to do something that was probably lacking a
- 17:44Speaker 2: little bit in common sense and maybe being a little
- 17:46Speaker 2: bit emotional or irrational, he's the first guy that I
- 17:48Speaker 2: would pick.
- 17:49Speaker 1: I think, well, I mean, we knew all that drama
- 17:51Speaker 1: that happened last year and he was in tort with Ponder.
- 17:55Speaker 1: So that was my question to you is do you
- 17:58Speaker 1: think he could still possibly be in talks with Honda?
- 18:01Speaker 1: Could we see a quarao Jorge Martin a factory Honda
- 18:06Speaker 1: d you own next year?
- 18:08Speaker 2: I would suggest not simply because you know there's there's
- 18:14Speaker 2: only there's only room for one fox in the henhouse,
- 18:18Speaker 2: right if you're going to use that analogy and Quatros, well,
- 18:21Speaker 2: a Honda would have paid a lot of money for him.
- 18:24Speaker 2: He's you know, he's proven world champion as we know.
- 18:26Speaker 2: And I'm not sure whether you I reckon you would
- 18:30Speaker 2: need one or the other, not both. And as much
- 18:33Speaker 2: as Martin was trying to get himself to Honda last year,
- 18:35Speaker 2: that was before the quaduro news came out. To my mind,
- 18:39Speaker 2: Honda's been this project for a while that needs a
- 18:42Speaker 2: north Star. They haven't had a north Star since Mark left.
- 18:45Speaker 2: They've had good riders, but they haven't had that difference
- 18:47Speaker 2: making rider. And we know, I mean, just look at
- 18:50Speaker 2: what Kuaateuro has done on that ya behalf of the
- 18:52Speaker 2: past couple of years where you see him in pole
- 18:53Speaker 2: position and you just shake your head, is like, how
- 18:55Speaker 2: has he done that? You put him on a better bike,
- 18:58Speaker 2: a considerably better bike, or a better bike, like they've
- 19:01Speaker 2: got their keepin now for this new set of the regulations,
- 19:04Speaker 2: I just don't think that there would be room or
- 19:06Speaker 2: budget for both of them. And imagine how volatile that
- 19:11Speaker 2: could be had, even if you could afford it, even
- 19:13Speaker 2: if you were going to entertain that. I don't even
- 19:16Speaker 2: think that's what Honda wants right now. If Honda was
- 19:18Speaker 2: the best manufacturer in motor GP, and maybe you just
- 19:20Speaker 2: throw them both together and say to hell with it
- 19:22Speaker 2: and let's see what happens. But this is not mcdowen's Honda.
- 19:25Speaker 2: This is not Valentino Rossi's Honda. This isn't even Mark
- 19:27Speaker 2: Marquez's Honda. This is a factory team that hasn't won
- 19:30Speaker 2: anything since Mark left, and so with Fabio they've got
- 19:35Speaker 2: a guy who's a little bit younger.
- 19:36Speaker 4: Fabia is still really young. Still.
- 19:38Speaker 2: We forget that he's been in it for a really
- 19:39Speaker 2: long time, but he's still really quite young. And that's
- 19:42Speaker 2: going to be the guy they put all the eggs
- 19:44Speaker 2: in that basket. I think if Martin could have got
- 19:46Speaker 2: himself to Honda last year, which he was trying to do,
- 19:49Speaker 2: then we wouldn't even be having this conversation. But he
- 19:52Speaker 2: wasn't able to get there, and there was an open door,
- 19:54Speaker 2: and Fabio Couaturo has said, thank you very much, I will.
- 19:57Speaker 4: Walk straight through that.
- 19:59Speaker 1: I love how certain you are on that. I can't
- 20:01Speaker 1: wait to see if that comes true or not. But
- 20:03Speaker 1: before we move on to teams and places and whatnot,
- 20:07Speaker 1: there's been more rumors coming through about are the writers
- 20:10Speaker 1: potentially moving up or moving into or coming back to
- 20:14Speaker 1: Moto GP. So I don't know what you've heard, Matt,
- 20:16Speaker 1: but I've heard rumors of Bulliger, I've heard David Alonzo,
- 20:21Speaker 1: I've heard Danny Holgado, and then when I've spoken to
- 20:25Speaker 1: Senna earlier in the year, he's also mentioned that he's
- 20:28Speaker 1: aiming to get to Moto GP for twenty seven. So
- 20:31Speaker 1: the David Alonzo one we knew was coming for a
- 20:35Speaker 1: long time since he dominated a Moto III. It was
- 20:38Speaker 1: just a case of when he was going to come,
- 20:40Speaker 1: and hopefully we were going to see the Mark David Alonzo,
- 20:43Speaker 1: Pedro Acosta like these goats, these grays on track, which
- 20:47Speaker 1: we just can't wait to see.
- 20:48Speaker 3: That'd be incredible.
- 20:49Speaker 1: But whats your thoughts on on those guys? Obviously Danny Helgado,
- 20:53Speaker 1: what are the rooms? Who? Who else have you heard
- 20:54Speaker 1: it's potentially moving up?
- 20:56Speaker 2: Yeah, Alonso is as you said, it was not a
- 20:59Speaker 2: matter of he was going to get to Moto GP,
- 21:01Speaker 2: it's a matter of when. It's always really exciting when
- 21:04Speaker 2: you see the sort of first steps of the guy
- 21:06Speaker 2: who might be the next superstar, because we all remember
- 21:10Speaker 2: watching Marquees in Moto two and thinking, oh boy, like
- 21:13Speaker 2: this guy is going to be quite something. Now I'm
- 21:15Speaker 2: not quite sure we should be thinking of David Alonzo
- 21:17Speaker 2: is going to be the next Mark Marquez, but he
- 21:19Speaker 2: is the most exciting guy to come through Moto two
- 21:21Speaker 2: for a really, really long time. What's interesting about that
- 21:26Speaker 2: is that his teammate in Moto two this year Holgado
- 21:29Speaker 2: is a guy who I reckon. His stock has sort
- 21:32Speaker 2: of risen a bit in the last eighteen months or so,
- 21:34Speaker 2: simply because of how good he's been in Moto two.
- 21:36Speaker 2: Like he was a decent Motor three rider, but he's been.
- 21:38Speaker 4: Very, very good in Moto two.
- 21:41Speaker 2: And it feels to me like when you've got this
- 21:44Speaker 2: new regulation set, like everyone's going to be starting with
- 21:47Speaker 2: a clean sheet of paper next year. There's not necessarily
- 21:49Speaker 2: a disadvantage coming in as a rookie next year because
- 21:52Speaker 2: everyone's going to be underprepared because you've got different bikes,
- 21:55Speaker 2: different tires, No, all the ride height devices and arrows
- 21:58Speaker 2: were talking about before. If you're going to be a rookie,
- 22:01Speaker 2: next year's a pretty good year to be a rookie, right,
- 22:03Speaker 2: So I can see him coming in. Look, I know
- 22:07Speaker 2: with the ages thing, Australians would love to have another
- 22:09Speaker 2: Australian writer on the grid, and Senna does shape as
- 22:12Speaker 2: being the natural successor to Jack miller as and when
- 22:15Speaker 2: Jack's career finishes. I just wonder in that Moto two
- 22:19Speaker 2: pecking order, I know for a fact that there are
- 22:22Speaker 2: teams that are interested in Cener but interested he's on
- 22:26Speaker 2: a list but he's maybe not at the top of
- 22:27Speaker 2: the list. And so I think the way we should
- 22:30Speaker 2: look at the Agis thing right now is it's not
- 22:33Speaker 2: a no, it's more and not yet in that I
- 22:35Speaker 2: do feel that there's and look, he we wrote about
- 22:39Speaker 2: this on Fox Sports not so long ago. I think
- 22:41Speaker 2: Senna's peaks are good enough to be a Motor GP,
- 22:43Speaker 2: but there's still that inconsistency with him. And I think
- 22:46Speaker 2: I wrote the last three times he's been on the podium,
- 22:49Speaker 2: he's actually won the race, and then he hasn't finished
- 22:51Speaker 2: better than fifth in another race in that entire time.
- 22:53Speaker 4: So it's either.
- 22:54Speaker 2: Incredibly good or a bit anonymous with Agis, And I
- 22:57Speaker 2: think I don't think the talents in question. I think
- 22:59Speaker 2: it'll be if he's going to come to Motor GP,
- 23:02Speaker 2: there'll just need to be a bit of a flattening
- 23:03Speaker 2: out of that performance curve a little bit for him.
- 23:06Speaker 2: So I think he is on the list, but he's
- 23:07Speaker 2: just not maybe up the top. But the other one
- 23:09Speaker 2: that might come through Maybe we'll get to this a
- 23:11Speaker 2: little bit later. When we start looking at actual rider lineups,
- 23:14Speaker 2: there is one other guy or one or two other
- 23:17Speaker 2: Motor two guys that might come in for next year,
- 23:19Speaker 2: I think.
- 23:21Speaker 4: But that's one. Wait.
- 23:22Speaker 1: If you guys could hear that my phone was ringing
- 23:24Speaker 1: and it was our boss from Fox Sports.
- 23:28Speaker 2: I thought you were going to tell me it was
- 23:29Speaker 2: ceterageous of the folks you did like what I'll say,
- 23:31Speaker 2: But there you go.
- 23:31Speaker 1: Could you imagine that from Fox Sports probably listening to us, going, wait,
- 23:35Speaker 1: I want to come in on this so.
- 23:36Speaker 3: Much, keep going.
- 23:39Speaker 2: So look, I think my prediction, if we're going to
- 23:42Speaker 2: get into the grid for next year, let's let's look
- 23:45Speaker 2: into the crystal ball here. I went through all of
- 23:48Speaker 2: the teams and my prediction for you, and you can
- 23:52Speaker 2: scrub this out of the podcast if it proves to
- 23:54Speaker 2: not be true. But I'm prepared to get off the
- 23:56Speaker 2: fence on this one. I reckon, we're going to have
- 23:58Speaker 2: four rookies next year. I reckon we're going to have
- 24:01Speaker 2: ten riders that change teams, ten nearly half a grid,
- 24:05Speaker 2: And I reckon there might be four riders that get
- 24:07Speaker 2: squeezed out altogether of this year's twenty two, and that
- 24:12Speaker 2: if that all comes to fruition, it is one of
- 24:16Speaker 2: the craziest amount of change I think that we will
- 24:19Speaker 2: ever see between motor GP seasons and that would be
- 24:22Speaker 2: insane if we had continuity of rules and continuity of
- 24:26Speaker 2: bikes and speck and regulations. You add all of that
- 24:31Speaker 2: into an eight to fifty cc formula with new tires
- 24:33Speaker 2: that no one's tried yet, no one knows who's going
- 24:36Speaker 2: to be good.
- 24:36Speaker 4: And oh, by the.
- 24:37Speaker 2: Way, Liberty Media is now involved. We've got a new
- 24:39Speaker 2: five year contract to actually run the sport. You may
- 24:42Speaker 2: as well just throw Moto GP in the air and
- 24:43Speaker 2: see oil the cards land. But quite frankly, I am
- 24:46Speaker 2: here for it because this year feels a little bit
- 24:49Speaker 2: like I don't know about holding pattern, but you know
- 24:52Speaker 2: what I mean, Like it kind of feels like things
- 24:54Speaker 2: are a little bit frozen this year, and it feels
- 24:57Speaker 2: like a little bit of an extension of twenty twenty
- 24:59Speaker 2: five in twenty twenty six to a degree next year
- 25:02Speaker 2: could be so compelling because good luck coming up with
- 25:05Speaker 2: the form guide out of all of that. It could
- 25:07Speaker 2: be complete chaos.
- 25:09Speaker 1: Well yeah, you just this is a bunch of things,
- 25:11Speaker 1: and I'm going and we've got a street circuit coming
- 25:13Speaker 1: on board as well, so it is going to be
- 25:15Speaker 1: utterly just throwing the cat in the bag.
- 25:18Speaker 3: And figuring out what is going on. But I do.
- 25:21Speaker 3: Let's go through these teams.
- 25:22Speaker 1: I want to know what you have thought because I
- 25:24Speaker 1: of the four rookies, A well, I didn't come up
- 25:26Speaker 1: with four rookies. But okay, let's start at the top then, Matt.
- 25:30Speaker 1: Let's start with the Kingpins.
- 25:33Speaker 3: Do you Caddy?
- 25:33Speaker 1: Let's go factory, do you Caddy? I'm going to call
- 25:37Speaker 1: it which assuming you're going to call it Mark Marquez
- 25:40Speaker 1: Perduro Costa tick.
- 25:42Speaker 4: We're in complete agreement.
- 25:44Speaker 3: Okay.
- 25:45Speaker 2: And so if you're looking at the other two Ducady teams,
- 25:47Speaker 2: I think we should do Docaddy as a unit here
- 25:50Speaker 2: the other two do Caaddi teams. Now you mentioned this
- 25:53Speaker 2: particular name before fermin Alde gear goes to VR forty
- 25:57Speaker 2: six and a lot. I think it has to be
- 26:02Speaker 2: to jan Antonio, doesn't it. I think he's been an
- 26:06Speaker 2: Italian team will want an Italian rider. He's been excellent
- 26:09Speaker 2: this year, and I think we've seen with didgyar I
- 26:11Speaker 2: meank two pole positions already this year. He's the leading
- 26:14Speaker 2: to Catti rider in the championship.
- 26:15Speaker 4: Let's let's not forget that.
- 26:17Speaker 2: I think did Year at his best, is a guy
- 26:20Speaker 2: who is going to be in the mix for podium's
- 26:23Speaker 2: most weekends. Now, the problem with did year in the
- 26:25Speaker 2: past is that the peaks are excellent and then you'll
- 26:27Speaker 2: go missing for a month or something and you won't
- 26:29Speaker 2: see him. But I cannot imagine an Italian team turning
- 26:34Speaker 2: down the chance to have a fast Italian rider, and
- 26:37Speaker 2: right now he is the fastest of their two Italian riders,
- 26:39Speaker 2: and I imagine that he would stay. Any any thoughts
- 26:43Speaker 2: on that, No, I think you.
- 26:45Speaker 1: Hit the nail on the head. The only other thing
- 26:47Speaker 1: would be is if they want you bring up Celisino
- 26:51Speaker 1: Vierti from the VF forty six academy up through. But
- 26:55Speaker 1: I think he's going to go stick along the lines
- 26:57Speaker 1: of center in the fact that.
- 26:59Speaker 3: He's not ready.
- 27:00Speaker 1: But I know he's their prodigy, right and we've seen
- 27:03Speaker 1: him test the bikes before, et cetera. So that would
- 27:05Speaker 1: be my only caveat is if for some reason there's
- 27:09Speaker 1: something in the background where it's like, you know, you
- 27:11Speaker 1: need to bring up somebody else, they'll stick to someone
- 27:14Speaker 1: in their academy.
- 27:15Speaker 4: Right Yeah.
- 27:16Speaker 2: I just I just think that if Yetti was going
- 27:18Speaker 2: to get there, he would have done it by now.
- 27:19Speaker 2: It feels like he's been a Moto two for a
- 27:21Speaker 2: really long time, and he's a good Moto two rider
- 27:22Speaker 2: on his day, but there's nothing there that screams motor
- 27:26Speaker 2: GP writer. To me, he's like a little bit I
- 27:29Speaker 2: hate to describe him as being old, but compared to
- 27:31Speaker 2: some of these young guys that are coming indies, guide
- 27:32Speaker 2: of old. But this is the curious one for me. Grissini, Okay,
- 27:37Speaker 2: I think Grassini's got an all new, all new rider
- 27:39Speaker 2: line up for next year.
- 27:43Speaker 3: Also, what about manufacturer.
- 27:46Speaker 2: Grassini will be staying with Decatti. We know that now
- 27:49Speaker 2: and so to my mind, to my mind, I think
- 27:52Speaker 2: it's going to be a bit of old and a
- 27:55Speaker 2: bit of new with the Grassini and that I think
- 27:58Speaker 2: that's where Danny Holgardo land because I think he's the
- 28:02Speaker 2: he becomes the young fast guy in a Ducatti, whereas
- 28:05Speaker 2: the other manufacturers, as we'll get to, have got these
- 28:08Speaker 2: young fast guys that are coming in as rookies or
- 28:10Speaker 2: very inexperienced. And the one I see landing there simply
- 28:15Speaker 2: because we're hearing that Tech three is probably gonna be
- 28:17Speaker 2: runn Yamahas next year, so there'll be two fewer ktms
- 28:20Speaker 2: on the Greed and two more Hondas, but we'll get
- 28:22Speaker 2: to that. I reckon it could be welcome back to
- 28:25Speaker 2: an AA.
- 28:25Speaker 4: Bashidini heard that rumor.
- 28:28Speaker 1: As well, and when I first heard it, I thought,
- 28:30Speaker 1: you know what, home sweet home for him? Back to
- 28:33Speaker 1: a team that's family run, an environment he knows. Maybe
- 28:38Speaker 1: it's the same crew chief that he had previously with
- 28:41Speaker 1: Frankie Corchetti. Maybe it's not, but I think that environment
- 28:44Speaker 1: seems to really hone writers and bring out the best
- 28:47Speaker 1: of them.
- 28:48Speaker 2: Well, it bring certainly brings out the best in him,
- 28:50Speaker 2: because I reckon he's one of those guys that and
- 28:53Speaker 2: we saw this a bit when he was at the
- 28:54Speaker 2: factory Ducati team. He's better when he's an underdog and
- 28:58Speaker 2: he has the surprise results of being a guy who's
- 29:01Speaker 2: in a top line team who's expected to come up
- 29:03Speaker 2: with good results. And I know that sounds like I'm
- 29:05Speaker 2: splitting hairs there, but he's a guy who's much better
- 29:08Speaker 2: when he's positioned as being someone you might not necessarily
- 29:11Speaker 2: expect something out of. Because you remember the year that
- 29:13Speaker 2: he really came to the four, he was winning all
- 29:15Speaker 2: these races on Grassini bikes. Is like, what is he doing,
- 29:18Speaker 2: like how is he so fast? And even when he
- 29:20Speaker 2: was there in the early part of his career, he
- 29:22Speaker 2: had those couple of crazy races where he I think
- 29:25Speaker 2: he was out really early in Q one and he
- 29:27Speaker 2: was on the podium at Messano a couple of times.
- 29:30Speaker 2: He's a really good rider when you don't necessarily expect
- 29:33Speaker 2: much from him. And I'm not saying that, you know,
- 29:35Speaker 2: every rider's got expectations, but that whole Grassini environment, that's
- 29:39Speaker 2: the best version of Bastiodini that we've seen. And he
- 29:42Speaker 2: also ticks the box of them having an Italian rider
- 29:44Speaker 2: for an Italian team. I think that would be I'm
- 29:47Speaker 2: not sure he would much refer to have been on
- 29:49Speaker 2: a Prillier, but it kind of feels that ship has
- 29:51Speaker 2: sailed a little bit. I can absolutely see those two
- 29:54Speaker 2: getting back together again. I can see it being quite
- 29:56Speaker 2: successful too.
- 29:58Speaker 1: No, I think you've hit the nail on the head.
- 30:00Speaker 1: You really like the fact of you putting the rookie
- 30:02Speaker 1: in that team. I see that Jucaddie would do that,
- 30:04Speaker 1: like you see why they did it with Ferm and
- 30:06Speaker 1: you see why they want people to go to that
- 30:09Speaker 1: for that environment. So No, I think that is bang
- 30:12Speaker 1: on the money there.
- 30:13Speaker 2: All right, So where are we going next? What manufacturer
- 30:16Speaker 2: we're going to next.
- 30:17Speaker 1: Let's go a Prillier, Let's go the next big guns.
- 30:19Speaker 1: So what we said earlier, factory A Prillia is going
- 30:23Speaker 1: to be Marco Bdzeki. We know, we saw the wedding
- 30:27Speaker 1: and then the rumor is Peco Banyaya. So I think
- 30:30Speaker 1: for a Prillia it's double whammy because Italian plus a
- 30:35Speaker 1: world champion Italian on there. Both those guys come from
- 30:38Speaker 1: VR forty six.
- 30:39Speaker 3: You know, we know they're really good friends.
- 30:41Speaker 1: We know that a Prillia seems to be working almost
- 30:44Speaker 1: same thing with Grissini, where it's that family environment because
- 30:48Speaker 1: they want everybody to be involved. We see how much
- 30:50Speaker 1: they're involved with Trackhouse, which we'll get to in a minute.
- 30:53Speaker 1: I think that this will hopefully get Peco out of
- 30:58Speaker 1: his slump.
- 31:00Speaker 4: Completely agree.
- 31:01Speaker 2: I love this combination of that team, that management. We've
- 31:05Speaker 2: talked about this on the pod numerous times. I just
- 31:07Speaker 2: think the role that Massimo River has played there. And
- 31:09Speaker 2: obviously I'm a little bit biased with this because I
- 31:11Speaker 2: know Massimo from before before where life, and I know
- 31:13Speaker 2: how he runs teams. But that environment, with that environment
- 31:18Speaker 2: is what Peco Banyai needs right now. And I'm not
- 31:21Speaker 2: one of these people that's prepared to sort of discount
- 31:23Speaker 2: what Banyai has done in Motor GP. And so so
- 31:25Speaker 2: we'll see what happens Once he got next to Marquez
- 31:27Speaker 2: and it didn't go very well. I reckon that's the anomaly,
- 31:30Speaker 2: and I reckon what he did in twenty two to
- 31:32Speaker 2: twenty four is the real Peco. And he's still young
- 31:35Speaker 2: enough that Peco Banyay when he's in his sweet spot,
- 31:38Speaker 2: he proved that for a couple of years he's as
- 31:40Speaker 2: close to unbeatable as it gets. And being in that environment,
- 31:44Speaker 2: how interesting could that be as a storylinehere two guys
- 31:47Speaker 2: have known each other, particularly if Buzeki continues on this
- 31:51Speaker 2: crazy run that he's been on of late, how interesting
- 31:54Speaker 2: is that? And just the fact that Aprillia now has
- 31:58Speaker 2: gone from that, Oh, this is a nice surprise that
- 32:00Speaker 2: Aprili is doing well. They look so legit right now,
- 32:04Speaker 2: seeing those two together, I reckon could be just about
- 32:06Speaker 2: the most other than Marquez a Costa, which, good lord,
- 32:09Speaker 2: that could be volcanic. But Buzeki Benaar as teammates. I
- 32:12Speaker 2: would love to see that next year. But the track
- 32:15Speaker 2: House one you mentioned, This is where I might be
- 32:19Speaker 2: getting a little bit left field, but I'll be curious
- 32:21Speaker 2: to see. I think we can both agree on one
- 32:23Speaker 2: of the writers for Trackhouse, right, Yeah.
- 32:26Speaker 1: Okay, So we know Trackhouse as a team is for sale.
- 32:30Speaker 1: We know that, and there's potential for maybe something for
- 32:36Speaker 1: a big title sponsor to come in because we know
- 32:38Speaker 1: that they don't have that. So maybe through that, through
- 32:42Speaker 1: m Seg formerly known as Donna, maybe there's a chance
- 32:45Speaker 1: of a certain nationality coming through. So they've got it
- 32:50Speaker 1: on the grid. I've been hearing dreamers about that elsewhere.
- 32:53Speaker 1: But what I do know about track House is Iyagura,
- 32:58Speaker 1: I believe is staying.
- 32:59Speaker 2: I think right by his name in Penn He's going nowhere.
- 33:03Speaker 1: He's going nowhere. We know that through and through Now.
- 33:07Speaker 1: I heard this morning before we jumped on this pod.
- 33:11Speaker 1: I heard there's potential for Mia to go across to
- 33:14Speaker 1: check House.
- 33:15Speaker 2: That's where I was going and the reason I'm going there.
- 33:17Speaker 2: And so you mentioned the thing about the commercial aspect
- 33:20Speaker 2: of this. You can say what you want about Juan Mihra,
- 33:23Speaker 2: and plenty of people do. Most of the time, it's
- 33:25Speaker 2: because he's just crashed again. We know how Hardy rides
- 33:27Speaker 2: a bike. At the end of the day, he still
- 33:29Speaker 2: is a boto GP World champion, and that carries a
- 33:32Speaker 2: certain level of gravitas to it, whether you want to
- 33:35Speaker 2: acknowledge it or not. Twenty twenty was weird, all that
- 33:37Speaker 2: sort of stuff. Jack Miller said this numerous times. Yes,
- 33:39Speaker 2: twenty twenty was weird for everybody, but he did it
- 33:42Speaker 2: better than everybody else that year, and he's a worthy
- 33:43Speaker 2: world champion.
- 33:44Speaker 4: It's just what he is.
- 33:45Speaker 2: The other factor here is the Davide Brivio factor, and
- 33:48Speaker 2: obviously Brivio bought Mere to Brivio bought Mia probably ahead
- 33:53Speaker 2: of what we thought, ahead of schedule to Suzuki when
- 33:55Speaker 2: he came back into boto GP. The one thing you
- 33:57Speaker 2: can't accuse Juan Mihra of doing is not trying hard enough.
- 34:00Speaker 2: He almost tries too hard most of the time, because
- 34:02Speaker 2: that's why he spends so many races on the floor.
- 34:05Speaker 2: The one thing it's been interesting this year is that
- 34:07Speaker 2: Honda's got better.
- 34:08Speaker 4: He is not slow.
- 34:09Speaker 2: There is absolutely no doubt that he has still got
- 34:12Speaker 2: the speed. Maybe we need to turn the dial down
- 34:15Speaker 2: just a little bit because he does tend to crash
- 34:18Speaker 2: out of advantageous positions. But he's not a world champion
- 34:21Speaker 2: who has lost any speed in the year since he
- 34:24Speaker 2: won the world championship. In some respects, he just maybe
- 34:26Speaker 2: needs to calm down a little bit. I reckon being
- 34:29Speaker 2: in an environment with someone who he's had success with
- 34:32Speaker 2: before would be a good move for him, be a
- 34:34Speaker 2: good move for the team, and if you're trying to
- 34:36Speaker 2: sell that team or at least get some more investment
- 34:38Speaker 2: in there to be able to put in every single
- 34:41Speaker 2: piece of marketing correspondence. Oh yeah, we've got a Motor
- 34:43Speaker 2: GP world champion riding our bike. And then you look
- 34:46Speaker 2: at that four rider a Prillier lineup if they go
- 34:50Speaker 2: down that path, Bazeki, Banyaya, Mir and Agura. That is
- 34:54Speaker 2: incredibly strong, isn't it when you think about it?
- 34:58Speaker 3: No, one hundred percent, I mean cha, I mean two
- 35:00Speaker 3: world champions.
- 35:01Speaker 1: Sorry at a Prillia, I grew a Moto two world champion,
- 35:04Speaker 1: Marco bed Zeki like phenomenal writer. I'm sure he's a
- 35:08Speaker 1: world champion too. I just can't remember which classes. I
- 35:11Speaker 1: think overall as a whole brilliant. But this is my
- 35:14Speaker 1: question to you, because the whole Mia Ral Fernandez Brivio
- 35:21Speaker 1: connections the little love triangle there, right, because we know
- 35:25Speaker 1: that there's like a bit of a romance going on
- 35:27Speaker 1: with Fernandez and Brivio. We know that with Mia, like
- 35:30Speaker 1: this is the part where it gets tricky, And this
- 35:32Speaker 1: is where I'm starting to think, is I wonder if
- 35:34Speaker 1: MS come and get involved to bring in a different
- 35:38Speaker 1: nationality into track app interesting.
- 35:42Speaker 2: Yeah, look I could do the Fernandez thing.
- 35:46Speaker 4: Look, we can't do.
- 35:47Speaker 2: What we always used to do and say, well, you know,
- 35:49Speaker 2: wake me up when he's won a motor GP race,
- 35:51Speaker 2: because he has won a race, he won one in
- 35:52Speaker 2: our backyard at Philipil last year. I still say that. Look,
- 35:57Speaker 2: he still had to cross the line first.
- 35:59Speaker 4: He won the race.
- 36:00Speaker 2: I don't think you would find a motor GP race
- 36:03Speaker 2: win that has more asterisks on it than that one.
- 36:05Speaker 2: Mark Marquez wasn't there, Pequevanoy was useless, Jorje mar Team
- 36:08Speaker 2: wasn't there, Marco Bizeki had two long lap penalties. Like that,
- 36:12Speaker 2: everything broke perfectly. It was a great weekend for Aprillier.
- 36:15Speaker 2: Everything broke completely right next to it with the race obviously,
- 36:19Speaker 2: but the fact that it took him I think it was.
- 36:21Speaker 4: I think I wrote it about one hundred times. I
- 36:22Speaker 4: should remember.
- 36:23Speaker 2: I think it was seventy six Premier Class.
- 36:25Speaker 4: Starts before he won a race.
- 36:27Speaker 2: Do you have any confidence that he's going to win
- 36:29Speaker 2: another one?
- 36:30Speaker 4: Because I don't.
- 36:31Speaker 2: It kind of feels that he's been around long enough
- 36:33Speaker 2: and he's had enough chances to really show what he
- 36:36Speaker 2: could do.
- 36:37Speaker 1: Now.
- 36:37Speaker 2: He's obviously a bit younger than Juan Miir, But that
- 36:39Speaker 2: whole thing about if you had to choose between a
- 36:42Speaker 2: guy that's won one race and a guy has won
- 36:43Speaker 2: one World Championship. Even though Juanmir has only won one race, However,
- 36:47Speaker 2: the World Champion trump's that every single time, I think,
- 36:50Speaker 2: And you just wonder with Fernandez, Yeah, I know it.
- 36:52Speaker 2: Prially has invested a lot of time and money in
- 36:54Speaker 2: him over the years, but you know you're not going
- 36:57Speaker 2: to get.
- 36:57Speaker 4: Rid of a Gura to keep Fernandez.
- 36:59Speaker 2: And if some what Mir is available, I still think
- 37:01Speaker 2: that World Championship carries too much weight.
- 37:04Speaker 1: All Right, We'll watch the space on track House because
- 37:07Speaker 1: I do believe that there could be like a big
- 37:09Speaker 1: name sponsor, title something coming in and then we'll have
- 37:12Speaker 1: to see itting is it Mia, is it somebody else.
- 37:17Speaker 1: Now before we move on to the next one, I
- 37:18Speaker 1: just want to say, everybody listening on us, watching us
- 37:21Speaker 1: on YouTube, let us know in the comments who you
- 37:24Speaker 1: think is going where, what changes are happening. If you
- 37:27Speaker 1: agree with me and Matt, if you don't like, we
- 37:29Speaker 1: want to know, because honestly, at this stage, everything is
- 37:32Speaker 1: up in the air. And if you're listening to us,
- 37:35Speaker 1: go over to YouTube and then tell us your comments there.
- 37:37Speaker 1: We're at Fox Motorsport. You can just search the Pittok
- 37:40Speaker 1: podcast there. But okay, we're two teams down. We've got
- 37:43Speaker 1: three to go.
- 37:45Speaker 3: The next one.
- 37:45Speaker 1: I feel like it's going to be quite quick because
- 37:47Speaker 1: it's KATM so we know we don't know, but we
- 37:51Speaker 1: know bedroover costas potentially going to Factory Catty.
- 37:55Speaker 3: We said that earlier.
- 37:56Speaker 1: This means that I believe Alex mar Kez is going
- 38:01Speaker 1: to Factory KTM. I think Brad Binder is out of
- 38:05Speaker 1: a ride. And then I've heard of the one hit one,
- 38:09Speaker 1: the Maverick Vignalees moving up to Factory.
- 38:11Speaker 3: KTM once again.
- 38:13Speaker 1: And I say that with all due respects because he's
- 38:15Speaker 1: our test king.
- 38:16Speaker 2: You know he is, He's the test He's always the
- 38:19Speaker 2: guy who you look at him and go, oh, he
- 38:21Speaker 2: could do this, he could do this. And there's still
- 38:24Speaker 2: still funny how we talk about Maverick like he's in
- 38:26Speaker 2: his second year and there's so much potential there, even
- 38:28Speaker 2: though he's in his tenth year and there's so much
- 38:29Speaker 2: potential there. But you wouldn't want to be the guy
- 38:33Speaker 2: that quits too early on Vinalees and then all of
- 38:35Speaker 2: a sudden the bike is great and he's awesome, because
- 38:37Speaker 2: under a certain set of circumstances he can be quite awesome.
- 38:41Speaker 2: I don't mind that as a lineup that whole the
- 38:44Speaker 2: Alex Marquez thing. His market value is high because of
- 38:48Speaker 2: what happened last year. Last year was the massive outlier
- 38:52Speaker 2: based on the rest of his motor GP career. But
- 38:54Speaker 2: he had a very good bike last year and he
- 38:56Speaker 2: did very very well with it and finished second in
- 38:58Speaker 2: the World Championship. And he will go back to being
- 39:00Speaker 2: a full factory writer again, which we remember he was
- 39:02Speaker 2: for about ten minutes in twenty twenty before Honda decided
- 39:05Speaker 2: they wanted to get rid of him before that season
- 39:07Speaker 2: even started. So he probably deserves that, and the Vignals
- 39:11Speaker 2: thing evidence suggests that maybe it's never really going to happen,
- 39:16Speaker 2: but if you were, I mean, I think, look, Katim
- 39:18Speaker 2: will probably be able to get away without having to
- 39:20Speaker 2: pay him too much because it's like, well, you know,
- 39:22Speaker 2: maybe it'll be a low, low base wage, heavy heavy
- 39:25Speaker 2: BoatUS as if he actually doesn't winning, but the potential's there.
- 39:29Speaker 2: And so if you're going to two bikes for next year,
- 39:31Speaker 2: which is what we believe katm is doing, I agree
- 39:34Speaker 2: with you. I think that's a pretty solid lineup.
- 39:37Speaker 1: So then, out of Alex and Maverick, who's going to
- 39:40Speaker 1: be right?
- 39:40Speaker 3: And number one?
- 39:41Speaker 1: Do you think would it be Maverick because he's been okay, yeah, yeah,
- 39:44Speaker 1: fair as well.
- 39:46Speaker 2: I was going to say, I just yeah, I just
- 39:49Speaker 2: simply think because one of them is a lot more
- 39:52Speaker 2: predictable than the other. And it's kind of bizarre that
- 39:55Speaker 2: we're talking about Alex Marquez as being this sort of
- 39:58Speaker 2: beacon of consistency because he has been it consisted through
- 40:00Speaker 2: his career man compared to Maverick, Like Maverick could finish
- 40:04Speaker 2: second or seventeenth, then you just shrug your shoulders and
- 40:07Speaker 2: go sure, Whereas I think Alex's performance curve will be
- 40:11Speaker 2: a little less, a little less steep in either direction.
- 40:13Speaker 4: Let's put it that way.
- 40:15Speaker 3: No, so fair so fair, completely agree? All right? Finals?
- 40:19Speaker 3: Two manufacturers? Can we Honda?
- 40:21Speaker 4: Can we can we? Yeah, let's do Honda first. Let's
- 40:24Speaker 4: do Honda first.
- 40:25Speaker 2: This well, okay, let's do the one we know Elsie
- 40:28Speaker 2: are we know is going to be Zarko and Morera.
- 40:30Speaker 2: That's just going to be the same as this year.
- 40:31Speaker 2: So that's fine. We know that they've both got contracts
- 40:34Speaker 2: already the factory Honda team. Yes, Squattero, as we discussed,
- 40:39Speaker 2: who have you got is his teammate.
- 40:41Speaker 4: For next year?
- 40:43Speaker 3: Right now? It's a question mark because in my.
- 40:46Speaker 1: Head, I'm going, oh, do they keep Luca Marini or
- 40:50Speaker 1: do they not not demote him but move him to
- 40:55Speaker 1: test writer because we know how phenomenal he is with
- 41:00Speaker 1: feedback and data and everything that comes along with that.
- 41:04Speaker 3: So I go, a.
- 41:05Speaker 1: Honda going to put somebody This is where I go
- 41:11Speaker 1: in my head. I go crazy because I go, it's
- 41:13Speaker 1: going to bring somebody else over in to two new
- 41:17Speaker 1: writers to the manufacturer.
- 41:19Speaker 3: Are they going to promote someone? But why would they?
- 41:21Speaker 3: They've got Diogo and lcr as the rookie.
- 41:23Speaker 1: What do they keep Luca Marini here, this is the
- 41:26Speaker 1: big question mark, So I want to know your spicy
- 41:28Speaker 1: take on it.
- 41:29Speaker 2: Well, I think you've kind of just answered the question
- 41:32Speaker 2: in the way that I thought about it.
- 41:34Speaker 4: For a few reasons, right.
- 41:35Speaker 2: Okay, we we know that Honda want to bring David
- 41:38Speaker 2: Alanzo up, and the idea of putting a nineteen year
- 41:43Speaker 2: old David Alonso on a factory Honda with Fabio Couaturra
- 41:47Speaker 2: as your teammate, you can sail a little bit too
- 41:50Speaker 2: close to the sun. Right, That's one of those ones
- 41:52Speaker 2: that there is a lot of potential for chaos there.
- 41:55Speaker 2: And I'm not saying that Alonso won't be a decent
- 41:58Speaker 2: Motor GP writer, But to have that as your brand
- 42:01Speaker 2: new regulations Motor GP rookie factory Honda team and probably
- 42:06Speaker 2: the fastest one lap rider in Motor GP as your teammate,
- 42:09Speaker 2: that's a lot to deal with as a rookie who's
- 42:12Speaker 2: barely out of their teams. So for that, not so
- 42:14Speaker 2: much just for that reason, because I still think there's
- 42:16Speaker 2: other reasons here. But to my mind, I think you
- 42:19Speaker 2: have Luca Marini maybe for a season, simply because Quasurero
- 42:23Speaker 2: is renowned as a guy who you give him a
- 42:25Speaker 2: bike and he will extract the maximum possible lap time
- 42:28Speaker 2: out of it. But you're not going to get much
- 42:30Speaker 2: technically from him. He's not really what he's renowned for.
- 42:33Speaker 2: He's not renowned as being one of the great technical
- 42:35Speaker 2: minds in the sport. Incredible writer, but he's not a
- 42:38Speaker 2: guy who's going to develop a project forward. Honda's clearly improving,
- 42:42Speaker 2: and the grading in of that is still going up.
- 42:44Speaker 2: As I do a hand signal on a podcast, which
- 42:46Speaker 2: I realize is useless, but to.
- 42:48Speaker 4: My mind, you need someone to.
- 42:52Speaker 2: Not so much cover what Coasturero is not good at,
- 42:55Speaker 2: but to accentuate what CROC is good at. Because the
- 42:58Speaker 2: faster the bike is made in theory, then the faster
- 43:01Speaker 2: quadurero is going to ride the bike. And so Luca
- 43:03Speaker 2: Marini is one of those guys that I think he
- 43:05Speaker 2: can make You've already seen it. He can make a
- 43:08Speaker 2: week bike better and make a moderately good bike great.
- 43:11Speaker 2: Because of how good he is technically, he's never going
- 43:14Speaker 2: to be able to achieve the optimum lap time out
- 43:16Speaker 2: of that bike where I think Quaateuro could. And so
- 43:19Speaker 2: you pair those two together, it seems like the right
- 43:21Speaker 2: combination for what Honda need technically to lead the project
- 43:26Speaker 2: in a way that Quaturo might not be able to
- 43:28Speaker 2: lead it behind the scenes. But then you know that
- 43:31Speaker 2: on a Sunday, Quaduro is going to snap the visor
- 43:33Speaker 2: shut and if the bike is capable of achieving a
- 43:35Speaker 2: certain lap time, he will get it there. And so
- 43:38Speaker 2: to my mind, that's a really good combination. And so
- 43:42Speaker 2: this is the biggest question for me, and this is
- 43:43Speaker 2: the one I'm least certain about. With all of this,
- 43:47Speaker 2: where pretty strong rumors to the point of almost being
- 43:50Speaker 2: confirmed that Tech three will be hold the team next year.
- 43:52Speaker 2: So Honda is now going to have six riders. Based
- 43:55Speaker 2: on that, we're assuming that David Alonso is going to
- 43:57Speaker 2: be one of those six, and that would make sense
- 44:00Speaker 2: put him in a satellite team. He doesn't have the
- 44:02Speaker 2: spotlight shining on him super super bright for that first year.
- 44:06Speaker 2: This is the one I'm really struggling with, what do
- 44:09Speaker 2: you do with the second seat there? Because there are
- 44:11Speaker 2: a number of candidates and I'm not sure I like
- 44:14Speaker 2: any of them.
- 44:16Speaker 1: I don't know, honestly, Like this is the same thing
- 44:19Speaker 1: as I I I don't know who do you put
- 44:24Speaker 1: on a new team? Right?
- 44:27Speaker 2: So my My thought is that, you know, we think
- 44:32Speaker 2: that Brad Binder's probably out. He's been a KTM guy
- 44:34Speaker 2: through and through. I think Franco Morbidelli is probably done.
- 44:38Speaker 2: I'm not sure Morbidelli would be even be on the
- 44:40Speaker 2: grid this year if it wasn't.
- 44:41Speaker 4: For VR forty six.
- 44:42Speaker 2: And very sadly I think Alex rins and we'll get
- 44:45Speaker 2: to Yamahara at a sect. But Alex has just not
- 44:47Speaker 2: been the same rider since he broke his leg three
- 44:49Speaker 2: years ago nearly now, and that's a great shame because
- 44:51Speaker 2: he's a very very good motor GP rider when he's
- 44:53Speaker 2: fully fit. But those words, when he's fully fit, he
- 44:57Speaker 2: hasn't been fit for a long long time now. So
- 45:00Speaker 2: my thinking out loud theory here is I'm eliminating people
- 45:04Speaker 2: bit by bit. What if Mano Gonzales wins the Moto
- 45:06Speaker 2: two championship, does.
- 45:07Speaker 4: He just come up?
- 45:10Speaker 1: Do you know?
- 45:10Speaker 3: I just thought Colin Veayer, that's a good shout too.
- 45:15Speaker 2: That's a pretty good shout in terms of and also
- 45:18Speaker 2: I like that from the chat, the idea of getting
- 45:20Speaker 2: another nationality on the grid a bit more diversity, so
- 45:24Speaker 2: it's not the Italian and Spanish Cup as Moto GP
- 45:26Speaker 2: gets sort of derisively called from time to time. That
- 45:29Speaker 2: was someone that was not necessarily on my short list.
- 45:32Speaker 2: But I do like that in terms of just thickening
- 45:35Speaker 2: the brew from a series of nationalities. The other thing, too,
- 45:38Speaker 2: is and you've done this, when was the last time
- 45:40Speaker 2: you stood next to Colin Via in a paddock? He's
- 45:42Speaker 2: way too tall to be riding motive. What's he doing
- 45:44Speaker 2: in Moto two? He looks like a giant. A bigger
- 45:48Speaker 2: bike is better for him.
- 45:50Speaker 1: It alluded to what I was kind of getting out with.
- 45:54Speaker 1: You know, m SAG and Liberty are going to want
- 45:57Speaker 1: to start bringing in more nationalities to attract more sponsorship
- 46:01Speaker 1: for the teams. If the teams are asking for more money,
- 46:03Speaker 1: there's this whole circle that needs to be connected, and
- 46:08Speaker 1: they're going to start to bring in at least are like,
- 46:12Speaker 1: you know, a German or a Dutcher or something writer.
- 46:15Speaker 1: We don't have a British writer in the premier class
- 46:18Speaker 1: anymore so, like they're waiting first Scott Ogden all those.
- 46:21Speaker 3: There's so much.
- 46:22Speaker 1: Room for growth and potential here instead of it just
- 46:25Speaker 1: being like the Spanish entertainian. Because look at Formula one
- 46:27Speaker 1: for example, they have correct multipleman manufacturing nationalities and formula ones.
- 46:35Speaker 1: So that's when I'm starting to think, Okay, maybe that's
- 46:38Speaker 1: going to come into place. So that's why we went
- 46:40Speaker 1: a little bit left field with Colin.
- 46:42Speaker 4: I do like it.
- 46:44Speaker 2: I also wondered if there was a bit of sort
- 46:45Speaker 2: of Dutch surname bias creeping through here with you, but
- 46:48Speaker 2: that's fine. I do like it as an idea though.
- 46:51Speaker 3: I think that's if you're listening.
- 46:53Speaker 1: If you're listening, bring me some specklers, bring me some
- 46:55Speaker 1: street offles, like all of the Dutch snacks, I'll take them.
- 47:00Speaker 2: You could be his unofficial agent. Actually, I do like
- 47:02Speaker 2: that as an idea. And I think your point about
- 47:05Speaker 2: the nationality and the split and how international this series
- 47:10Speaker 2: has become. Someone from that particular part of the world
- 47:14Speaker 2: I think would go down really well. The Gonzales thing
- 47:17Speaker 2: I still am sitting on simply because I think if
- 47:20Speaker 2: he was to win the championship, I think that's pretty
- 47:21Speaker 2: hard to ignore it.
- 47:22Speaker 4: Now.
- 47:22Speaker 2: It's a big gearf obviously, but you expect him to
- 47:25Speaker 2: be in the mix. He's clearly very good. Whether he's
- 47:28Speaker 2: passport almost counts against him in that respect.
- 47:31Speaker 4: Is the other factor.
- 47:31Speaker 2: But that was the one of all the seats in
- 47:35Speaker 2: this exercise, that was the one that I kept writing
- 47:38Speaker 2: down names and crossing them off. And I'm kind of like,
- 47:41Speaker 2: not really sure because I know we're about to get
- 47:43Speaker 2: to Yamaha. I am absolutely adamant that I know what
- 47:47Speaker 2: Yamaha is going to do, and I think it's probably
- 47:49Speaker 2: good news for everybody listening to this podcast.
- 47:53Speaker 1: Well let's go through it then, Factory Yamaha, monster energy.
- 47:57Speaker 1: I don't think it's going to be monstr energy next
- 47:58Speaker 1: year from when I'm hearing, so it'll be factory Yamaha.
- 48:03Speaker 4: Martine correct and no shop Brack.
- 48:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I totally agree that to me, shapes a tear.
- 48:18Speaker 4: What is that an intriguing factory lineup?
- 48:21Speaker 2: My goodness, those two together, My god, Yeah, I'm here
- 48:25Speaker 2: for that just from a just from a story content
- 48:27Speaker 2: point of view. But I could absolutely see that happening,
- 48:30Speaker 2: and which leads to what a pramac going to do.
- 48:35Speaker 2: And this is going to be sound like a really
- 48:37Speaker 2: sort of counterintuitive thing to say. I like Jack Miller's
- 48:41Speaker 2: prospects of staying on next year's grid a lot more
- 48:44Speaker 2: than this time last year, and a lot more than
- 48:46Speaker 2: this time of the year before. He to me, there's
- 48:50Speaker 2: like a really specific job requirement that Yamaha need right
- 48:54Speaker 2: now as they go from in line for to V
- 48:57Speaker 2: four and then they go from thousand ccv to eight
- 49:00Speaker 2: fifty CCV four and the amount of churn there's going
- 49:04Speaker 2: to be in that manufacturer anyway, because top Brak, as
- 49:08Speaker 2: good as he is, is a twenty nine year old
- 49:09Speaker 2: rookie this year and Kuaaterero has been there since twenty
- 49:13Speaker 2: and nineteen. It's the only manufacturer he's ever been been with.
- 49:18Speaker 2: They actually need some continuity, and you've got someone who's
- 49:21Speaker 2: got Miller's continuity, You've got the experience. He's the bridge
- 49:26Speaker 2: between eras to me, and I don't know whether it's
- 49:29Speaker 2: Jack's last contract or not, but you look at what
- 49:32Speaker 2: Yamaha need and the fact that you're going to need
- 49:35Speaker 2: a spokesperson and a frontman for the twenty twenty seven
- 49:38Speaker 2: Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix in Adelaide, it would be completely
- 49:42Speaker 2: insane to not have an Australian or next year's grid
- 49:45Speaker 2: and for all of those particular job requirements, I think
- 49:48Speaker 2: that Jack is much more secure for twenty seven than
- 49:50Speaker 2: perhaps we're thinking this time last year and certainly the
- 49:53Speaker 2: year before, because in twenty four he was the last
- 49:55Speaker 2: writer signed for twenty five is twenty second and final
- 49:58Speaker 2: rd assign It took till September, and then even last year,
- 50:01Speaker 2: you remember that Pramak had to get themselves out of
- 50:03Speaker 2: that Olivera contract to be able to keep Jack. Anyway,
- 50:05Speaker 2: they invoked a performance clause in Olivera's contract to keep Jack.
- 50:09Speaker 2: I actually think it's going to be settled a lot
- 50:11Speaker 2: earlier for Jack than it has been in the previous
- 50:13Speaker 2: two years, and I can see him staying on with
- 50:16Speaker 2: Pramak for another year.
- 50:18Speaker 3: I completely agree.
- 50:19Speaker 1: I think everything that you've said, like we've had Peter
- 50:21Speaker 1: Baum talking to Kiko Lewis, everybody seems to be on
- 50:25Speaker 1: the same page with that, with the fact that Prahmaa
- 50:27Speaker 1: take a drink, are going to want to keep Jack there.
- 50:30Speaker 1: But then it's a case of okay, who's going to
- 50:33Speaker 1: be his teammate And is this where Pramacs start to
- 50:36Speaker 1: bring up the young guns.
- 50:39Speaker 4: Yeah, I think so.
- 50:40Speaker 2: Simply it's a bit like the conversation we were just
- 50:42Speaker 2: having before about Holgado in that do Caddy, if Grassini
- 50:46Speaker 2: take Holgado. Then Decaddi's got their young fast next generation
- 50:50Speaker 2: guy in situ there. You know, they also have a
- 50:54Speaker 2: Costa who's obviously been around to I is still very
- 50:56Speaker 2: very young, but you look at the you know, Honda
- 50:58Speaker 2: will probably bring a long soo up. There is a
- 51:01Speaker 2: requirement for these manufacturers to bring these young fast guys up.
- 51:06Speaker 2: I mean, and probably a Gura kind of ticks that
- 51:08Speaker 2: box even though he's not super super young, but.
- 51:09Speaker 4: He's still quite inexperience.
- 51:11Speaker 2: So to my mind, it makes a lot of sense
- 51:14Speaker 2: for a Pramak to be able to use that Motor
- 51:17Speaker 2: two team that they have to bring someone up, and
- 51:19Speaker 2: I think it's East at Corvara. We know that it's
- 51:22Speaker 2: been really really strong, been really strong in the junior
- 51:24Speaker 2: categories in the past. He's now starting to get onto
- 51:27Speaker 2: podiums a bit more regularly in Moto two, and it
- 51:30Speaker 2: kind of feels to me that if it's not now
- 51:32Speaker 2: with him, it's never. It kind of feels that he's
- 51:34Speaker 2: in that sweet spot now and there is an opening. Therefore,
- 51:38Speaker 2: you've got Martin who's older and won and World championship,
- 51:41Speaker 2: and volatile Raskatlioglu who is young in Motor GP terms,
- 51:46Speaker 2: but old in inverted commas in rider terms, and Jack,
- 51:49Speaker 2: who's going to be thirty two years old next season.
- 51:52Speaker 2: You need a guy in that sort of nineteen to
- 51:55Speaker 2: twenty three age bracket to sort of be the bridge
- 51:58Speaker 2: to the future. And yeah, we talk about the Spanish
- 52:01Speaker 2: side of things. If he's in, maybe that does rule
- 52:03Speaker 2: out someone like Gonzales, because if you're going to bring
- 52:05Speaker 2: a whole bunch of rookies in, you'd like to sort
- 52:07Speaker 2: of spread the nationalities around a little bit. I'd be
- 52:10Speaker 2: more confident in Guavara being on the grid next year
- 52:13Speaker 2: than say, someone like Gonzales. And it kind of feels
- 52:15Speaker 2: like he'd be the guy to do it because he's
- 52:16Speaker 2: clearly quick. And if Pramak aren't going to promote guys
- 52:19Speaker 2: from their Motor two team, then what's the point in
- 52:21Speaker 2: even having it?
- 52:21Speaker 1: Right well exactly one hundred percent. And I feel like
- 52:25Speaker 1: we've been talking about those rumors for so long of
- 52:27Speaker 1: even when we weren't sure what was happening with Jack,
- 52:29Speaker 1: it was like, well, what about the guys in Moto two?
- 52:32Speaker 3: When are they coming up?
- 52:33Speaker 1: So now kind of feels like the right time for
- 52:36Speaker 1: them to promote their Moto two writers, and we know
- 52:38Speaker 1: that Ethan he's kind of been leading the way with
- 52:40Speaker 1: that and that side of things. So agreed, I think
- 52:43Speaker 1: you've kind of hit the nail on the head there.
- 52:45Speaker 2: That's how many of these are going to be, right.
- 52:48Speaker 2: It's a question, yeah, to keep a scorecard here. Look,
- 52:51Speaker 2: I'm not going to go twenty two for twenty two
- 52:53Speaker 2: pretty clearly, but I'm pretty confident. I'm pretty confident, I reckon,
- 52:57Speaker 2: I'm pretty confident with eighty to eighty five percent that lot.
- 53:01Speaker 2: There'll be someone that comes out of left field that
- 53:03Speaker 2: we don't see, but I don't think there'll.
- 53:04Speaker 4: Be too many of them.
- 53:06Speaker 1: So, Okay, what you're saying is, if you're Emoto GP,
- 53:10Speaker 1: now congratulations, you're either getting promoted, getting fired, or watching
- 53:13Speaker 1: someone younger take your seat.
- 53:15Speaker 4: Right more or less, that pretty much sums it up.
- 53:17Speaker 1: Yet, I can't believe I came in with the left
- 53:20Speaker 1: field Colin Bayer, because that one really threw I love it.
- 53:25Speaker 3: I do agree.
- 53:25Speaker 1: I feel like, you know, we've heard the rumors coming through,
- 53:28Speaker 1: we knew what was happening for so long whatnot. But
- 53:30Speaker 1: it's just a case of finding these missing puzzle pieces.
- 53:33Speaker 1: But once am seg may the announcement. Once the teams
- 53:37Speaker 1: can actually start doing it, it's just going to be
- 53:39Speaker 1: a case of hopefully them having some control and not
- 53:43Speaker 1: throwing all of the writer changes.
- 53:44Speaker 3: At once because we're going to be very busy.
- 53:48Speaker 2: If they could just drip feed them through to us,
- 53:50Speaker 2: like one a day, for like fourteen days, and preferably
- 53:53Speaker 2: in Australian time zones, that would be I'm not asking
- 53:56Speaker 2: too much, but that would be nice.
- 53:57Speaker 4: That'd be fantastic.
- 53:58Speaker 3: I completely agree. I mean, that would be phenomenal.
- 54:00Speaker 1: But so far twenty twenty six, okay, we've seen the
- 54:05Speaker 1: Prillia domination and phenomenal that I did a carousel for
- 54:09Speaker 1: the Fox Motorsport Instagram the other day where I was
- 54:11Speaker 1: talking about the stats from a Prilliar and even the
- 54:15Speaker 1: fact of I agree as in there for the fastest lap,
- 54:18Speaker 1: the first one since two thousand and four, Like what's
- 54:20Speaker 1: coming from a Prillier this year where everybody at the
- 54:23Speaker 1: start of the year it's going to be Mark Marquez
- 54:25Speaker 1: winning once again. I think twenty twenty six has been
- 54:27Speaker 1: so exciting. But for everybody in the back of the
- 54:30Speaker 1: minds looking forward twenty twenty seven, that's what we want
- 54:33Speaker 1: to know right absolutely.
- 54:36Speaker 4: I can't wait for that.
- 54:37Speaker 2: Once we get that announcement that yes, it's all systems
- 54:40Speaker 2: go for twenty seven, I'm so intrigued as to who's
- 54:43Speaker 2: the first domino. I think it's going to be quite Arora,
- 54:45Speaker 2: but we'll see. And then just the speed at which
- 54:48Speaker 2: all this gets resolved, it might be a little bit
- 54:50Speaker 2: like twenty four.
- 54:51Speaker 4: That I mentioned before, is that.
- 54:52Speaker 2: Once Mark pulled the hand grenade and threw it into
- 54:54Speaker 2: the pack in twenty twenty four, all of this shook
- 54:56Speaker 2: out really fast, and so we might have like a
- 54:58Speaker 2: two week period where we just like, hang on, there's
- 55:00Speaker 2: another writer signing. It literally might be won every two
- 55:03Speaker 2: hours for two weeks.
- 55:04Speaker 3: Who would know, Oh my god.
- 55:06Speaker 1: And then there's a case of, like I said earlier,
- 55:08Speaker 1: that that one percent chance that I just have this.
- 55:10Speaker 3: Feeling that Mark might not even resign again for next year.
- 55:13Speaker 3: But then then what are we gonna do.
- 55:15Speaker 1: I have to come back on and do a whole
- 55:17Speaker 1: another domino effect of put the puzzle pieces where we
- 55:20Speaker 1: can absolutely right, well, if you guys have stuck around
- 55:26Speaker 1: fifty five minutes of what is happening in this silly season,
- 55:29Speaker 1: thank you, we very much appreciate it, and a big
- 55:32Speaker 1: appreciation to Shannon's Insurance for sponsoring this episode of pit
- 55:36Speaker 1: Talk once again.
- 55:37Speaker 3: Now, you guys you know the drill.

- 55:52Speaker 1: actually testing on Monday. It's not this weekend, it's not
- 55:54Speaker 1: even next weekend. It's the weekend after because with cats.
- 55:57Speaker 1: But we'll be in Hareth, so hopefully we can you
- 56:00Speaker 1: guys some content from there and show you what's happening

- 56:17Speaker 1: the comments on our YouTube channel at Fox Motorsport. But
- 56:22Speaker 1: from Matt Clayton and myself Ronita Vermullen, that is all
- 56:25Speaker 1: the time we have for pittok. We're gonna be back
