- 1:06Sean McAllister: Welcome to Vegas Revealed, episode 250.
- 1:10Sean McAllister: Sean McAllister here along with Dana Roselli.
- 1:13Sean McAllister: And if we sound any different this week, it's because we're recording separate.
- 1:17Sean McAllister: We're we're putting Dana in a bubble a little bit.
- 1:20Sean McAllister: Because we have to protect you at all costs, Dana.
- 1:23Dayna Roselli: It's true.
- 1:23Dayna Roselli: Yeah, we're doing kind of like a Zoom conversation here because you came back from Thanksgiving week with a tiny cold.
- 1:30Dayna Roselli: It's not the end of the world, but I am heading to Vancouver this weekend to see the final weekend of the Eros Tour and Taylor Swift.
- 1:38Dayna Roselli: I did end up getting tickets.
- 1:40Dayna Roselli: I'm super excited.
- 1:41Dayna Roselli: And you're like, I do not want to give you a cold.
- 1:44Dayna Roselli: So you and I have been not working in the office together for the last three days.
- 1:49Sean McAllister: Yeah, I the last thing I want to do is ruin a Taylor Swift concert experience.
- 1:55Sean McAllister: That's right.
- 1:56Sean McAllister: I would feel guilty for the rest of my life if that happened.
- 1:58Dayna Roselli: So everything needs to go smooth.
- 2:02Dayna Roselli: I am like, I don't even know if it's actually absorbed yet that I'm gonna be there.
- 2:07Dayna Roselli: I'm so excited, Sean, and you know that.
- 2:10Dayna Roselli: And so we we have a shoot actually on uh what Wednesday and Thursday.
- 2:15Dayna Roselli: But we're like, okay, we need to stay separate as much as we can because we cannot risk my health.
- 2:20Dayna Roselli: Although uh it's I have I'm gonna go on a million tangents here.
- 2:23Dayna Roselli: Um, first of all, for some reason, knock on wood, I don't get sick a lot.
- 2:28Dayna Roselli: So when you said you had a cold, I was like, you need to start taking the apple cider vinegar.
- 2:32Dayna Roselli: And I love that you went out and bought it and you're starting the routine of listen, as I've told a million people, when I used to work the early morning shift, I started apple cider vinegar.
- 2:42Dayna Roselli: And I tell you, it's a miracle worker because I never wanted to call in sick in the middle of the night because I knew I would put someone out.
- 2:49Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 2:49Dayna Roselli: And so I never wanted to get a cold and it worked, and so I just stuck with it.
- 2:54Dayna Roselli: And I'm telling you, people, you gotta do it.
- 2:56Dayna Roselli: And so you you started it now that you have the cold, but we'll see what happens, you know, afterward.
- 3:01Sean McAllister: Yeah, I'm I've started everything because I'm I'm determined to nip this thing in the butt and be back 100%.
- 3:10Dayna Roselli: You said you took three uh like glasses of it yesterday.
- 3:13Dayna Roselli: I was like, that's a little too much.
- 3:15Sean McAllister: I I did four actually.
- 3:17Sean McAllister: I did three during the day and one before bed.
- 3:20Dayna Roselli: Goodness.
- 3:21Dayna Roselli: Oh, Sean and I were both uh in uh upstate New York for Thanksgiving.
- 3:26Dayna Roselli: His family lives there, so does mine, separate uh areas, but um had a good trip.
- 3:31Dayna Roselli: We are back now.
- 3:32Dayna Roselli: You have a little cold, we've got a lot to do this weekend, a lot of events coming up.
- 3:37Dayna Roselli: Um, but first I wanted to hit something that I thought was interesting.
- 3:40Dayna Roselli: We recently put up a just a little clip of our um Mark Wahlberg interview, the interview that you did with him.
- 3:47Dayna Roselli: And on our TikTok, we did get a comment, and it's a comment I've seen before.
- 3:51Dayna Roselli: And I thought, let's talk about this.
- 3:52Dayna Roselli: And someone was like, All right, Mark, you know, like enough.
- 3:56Dayna Roselli: I feel like Mark is trying to monopolize Las Vegas.
- 3:58Dayna Roselli: He keeps opening all these things and has all these ideas.
- 4:01Dayna Roselli: And I thought, well, and this all stems off an interview that if you listen to our audio podcast, you heard Sean interview Mark Wahlberg at the opening of his new restaurant called Fletcher.
- 4:11Dayna Roselli: And I just thought, uh, that's interesting because I feel like it it's welcome here.
- 4:16Dayna Roselli: But I don't know.
- 4:17Dayna Roselli: What are your thoughts?
- 4:18Sean McAllister: Well, uh I think Mark is a brilliant businessman.
- 4:22Sean McAllister: He's got his hands in so many different things, and I love having a new Mark Wahlberg restaurant here.
- 4:29Sean McAllister: We've had a couple of his Wahlbergers restaurants here, uh, one over at the Grand Bazaar Shops in front of the horseshoe, the other over at Mandalay Bay, and now uh now it's kind of a restaurant for locals that Mark opened up.
- 4:45Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 4:45Dayna Roselli: And then, you know, he's opening a gym out in Summerlin and he's gonna have the whole, you know, he you see him on his social very into like recovery and the ice baths and all that kind of thing.
- 4:54Dayna Roselli: And so he talked about how it's it's you know gonna probably attract a lot of athletes, you know, like the Raiders and the Golden Knights and you know, athletes of the college teams and stuff like that.
- 5:04Dayna Roselli: Um, and then, you know, obviously he has always talked about bringing film here and has backed a project uh that could start as well over the next couple of years.
- 5:14Dayna Roselli: So I mean, I feel like um that what he's doing is he moved in and he actually lives here and he's opening businesses here, but there's a lot of other celebrities that kind of come and go or live here and we don't know about it, or they don't open business in Las Vegas.
- 5:30Dayna Roselli: And I'm like, hey, if you're gonna make yourself a local and open businesses in Las Vegas, I feel like I'm here for it.
- 5:36Sean McAllister: Well, and one of the things that that stood out to me when when we had that conversation with Mark, um, you know, I asked him about uh brand building and whether that was something new to him or if it's kind of been on his mind for a while.
- 5:50Sean McAllister: And he said, No, but this is something I've thought of for years.
- 5:54Sean McAllister: Like, I'm not gonna wait for a script to come to my desk or for someone to come to me with a restaurant idea or a gym idea or whatever it may be.
- 6:06Sean McAllister: He was like, I'm gonna go out, create these opportunities for myself.
- 6:11Sean McAllister: I'm gonna self-determine my future.
- 6:13Sean McAllister: And that's exactly what he's done.
- 6:15Sean McAllister: And in the process, he's created a lot of jobs for other people and created a lot of success for a lot of other people.
- 6:22Sean McAllister: So I think Mark is doing great things.
- 6:26Sean McAllister: I love it.
- 6:26Dayna Roselli: Yeah, you know, and I wonder if it's um, I think people feel like uh, okay, it's overdone or it's oversaturated for the people who do think that way.
- 6:34Dayna Roselli: I don't think that there's tons of people that feel that way, but I have heard it before.
- 6:37Dayna Roselli: Um, Mark is very visible.
- 6:39Dayna Roselli: I mean, he's out at grocery stores promoting his tequila and taking pictures with, you know, customers.
- 6:46Dayna Roselli: He's showing up to the restaurants that sell his tequila and use it and bartending for a half hour and taking pictures.
- 6:55Dayna Roselli: He's at the grand opening of his restaurant, he's at Wahlbergers, you know, he's talking about his fitness.
- 7:01Dayna Roselli: And and the problem is, is that like it's it's even like this is like even the Taylor Swift factor, because everyone's like, uh, Taylor Swift, there's too much of her.
- 7:08Dayna Roselli: She's seen it's like she's not, you know, choosing to be uh in the shot of uh every Chief's game, you know, she's there watching her boyfriend play, uh or she's you know, or the amount of people that use her name to um push just to get views and hits on social media.
- 7:31Dayna Roselli: It's not her doing it.
- 7:32Dayna Roselli: And and it's like um you're seeing a lot of her because she's successful and people love her music, and she's and then with Mark, it's like he's out there promoting his stuff, and we usually hear, oh, yeah, it's great, they just drop it off, and then we never see them, or ran into them and they wouldn't take a picture with me.
- 7:50Dayna Roselli: So, like you're mad when that happens, and then you're mad when you see too much of someone.
- 7:56Dayna Roselli: It's like nobody's ever happy, and I think that's just the final you're damned if you do, damned if you don't.
- 8:03Dayna Roselli: And side note, over Thanksgiving, my friend was like, Oh, I love Mark Wahlberg.
- 8:07Dayna Roselli: I was like, Oh, we just interviewed him, and she was like, Have you ever seen Daddy's Home?
- 8:10Dayna Roselli: And I was like, No, and she's like, You have to watch it, it's so funny, and so I did, me and my mom, and it is the funniest movie ever.
- 8:18Dayna Roselli: Um, and I still need to watch Daddy's Home 2 now, because uh that's on the agenda because she said that's even funnier than Daddy's Home.
- 8:25Dayna Roselli: But Mark Wahlberg's in it, and it's so freaking funny.
- 8:28Dayna Roselli: Him and Will Farrell.
- 8:29Dayna Roselli: Just you have to watch it if you need to be in a good mood.
- 8:32Sean McAllister: I need to add that to my my holiday viewing list because I already binged all the all the typical holiday movies while I was home at my parents' house.
- 8:42Sean McAllister: So I need something to something to add in there.
- 8:45Sean McAllister: So I watched that too.
- 8:47Sean McAllister: Daddy's home.
- 8:49Dayna Roselli: All right, let's talk Formula One real quick.
- 8:52Dayna Roselli: Uh, I know it's over and we look forward to next year here in Las Vegas.
- 8:55Dayna Roselli: You know, Formula One always brings in mixed uh comments, mixed uh reviews.
- 9:00Dayna Roselli: Some people love it, some wish it never came.
- 9:03Dayna Roselli: We went to the actual race this year, the year before we went to a you know, like a trial run or practice, and then we went to opening ceremonies.
- 9:10Dayna Roselli: Um, but this year we were over at the Team Mobile Zone near the sphere, and we actually got to see the race.
- 9:16Sean McAllister: And it was such I mean, what a backdrop that is having the sphere right there behind uh the racetrack as the cars kind of do a big horseshoe around that uh venue, and you know, there's bleachers set up on the outside and inside of the track.
- 9:35Sean McAllister: That was a great time with a stage set up out there too.
- 9:38Dayna Roselli: I know we got to see Ludacris perform.
- 9:41Dayna Roselli: Uh they had food there and drink, and you know, when you get your ticket to go in there, the food and non-alcoholic drinks are included, so you can get as much as you want, which I think is really cool.
- 9:51Dayna Roselli: I love that they don't like um because that was sold out that zone.
- 9:54Dayna Roselli: I love that they don't like pack them in like sardines either.
- 9:57Dayna Roselli: It's such a big area that you feel like there's room to walk around.
- 10:01Dayna Roselli: I feel like everyone's on their best behavior, you know, it's a good crowd.
- 10:05Sean McAllister: Well, and there were even plenty of uh like those high boy circle tables to just walk up and after you grab your food at one of the food stands, just go over there.
- 10:15Sean McAllister: You didn't have to search for a like a little ledge somewhere to set your drink while you were eating a burger or something like that, you know?
- 10:23Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 10:23Dayna Roselli: Um, one thing that I loved was because I'm really not uh yeah, I don't follow Formula One.
- 10:30Dayna Roselli: I'm learning more about it now that it's here in Las Vegas.
- 10:32Dayna Roselli: But I love that they pumped in the live feed of the actual race when you're watching it, because you're only at a section of the track, right?
- 10:41Dayna Roselli: So you're like, well, what's going on once they turn that corner?
- 10:44Dayna Roselli: And how do you keep up on it?
- 10:46Dayna Roselli: Because I feel that way at Raiders games when I watch them in person.
- 10:50Dayna Roselli: I wish we could hear the commentators because sometimes you just want to know what's going on if you're walking away or you know, if you miss something.
- 11:00Dayna Roselli: And so I really liked that a lot.
- 11:02Dayna Roselli: That that helped me as a new fan.
- 11:05Sean McAllister: Oh, for sure.
- 11:06Sean McAllister: And to have uh they had those massive screens set up throughout the uh race course.
- 11:13Sean McAllister: So no matter where you were sitting, like you said, you only are seeing a small portion of the race from your seat, and those cars go by so darn quick, but you have those giant monitors to see what's happening everywhere else around the track, and then to have that audio, you really do feel like you're up to speed on exactly where things stand as those cars whip around there, and it it really would benefit uh football games to have that as well.
- 11:44Sean McAllister: Because even when there's replays up on the jumbotron of a play, like you're you're seeing that play happen again, but you're not getting the analysis that goes with it.
- 11:53Dayna Roselli: No, uh or if someone's hurt, you're like, Well, what's going on?
- 11:56Dayna Roselli: Right, you know, like, but normally you'd be able to hear like so-and-so's down, looks like he's gonna be okay, you know, we're gonna pause here, like all of that.
- 12:05Dayna Roselli: Like it just in and I don't know.
- 12:07Dayna Roselli: I wonder if the Super Bowl we'll have to ask your husband, because he was in there volunteering or working, and uh if you could hear because I don't know if I'd love that watching the Super Bowl in person and not hearing the commentators, you know what I mean?
- 12:20Sean McAllister: I know that there uh there are some people who will uh get an app on their phone where you can get a radio feed.
- 12:28Sean McAllister: Oh, that's a good idea of the game, and then you just put earbuds in or put one earbud in so you can hear the the radio uh play by play in your ear as you're watching the game unfold in front of you.
- 12:41Sean McAllister: Um, but that goes back to a conversation that we were having about concerts at Allegiance Stadium too, where I I think there should be an app that you can that taps into an audio feed of what is happening inside of that arena.
- 12:58Sean McAllister: Yeah, you know, so if there's an audio delay at a concert, you're getting a clean feed in your ear and it's not uh sounding all muffled.
- 13:07Sean McAllister: Right.
- 13:07Sean McAllister: No, good point.
- 13:08Sean McAllister: Utilize that for sporting events too.
- 13:10Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it's almost 2025.
- 13:12Dayna Roselli: We should have these things.
- 13:13Sean McAllister: I mean, let's go, people.
- 13:14Sean McAllister: Come on.
- 13:15Dayna Roselli: I mean, we have a sphere, right?
- 13:18Sean McAllister: If we can have a sphere, we can have an audio feed.
- 13:21Dayna Roselli: For sure.
- 13:22Dayna Roselli: Um, I mentioned we are we do have a lot coming up this week and the next, I mean, this month is just jam-packed.
- 13:28Dayna Roselli: So um, I'm heading to Vancouver.
- 13:30Dayna Roselli: I'll be back.
- 13:31Dayna Roselli: Uh obviously, um, we're taking a little bit of time off at Christmas, but just this week alone, we're going to the opening of Jason Aldean's new restaurant and bar on the strip.
- 13:41Dayna Roselli: We're going to Lisa Vanderpump's opening over at the Flamingo.
- 13:45Dayna Roselli: She's added another restaurant and lounge to her group of restaurants.
- 13:50Dayna Roselli: Michael Mina is opening a new steakhouse at four seasons.
- 13:53Dayna Roselli: We're going over to interview him.
- 13:55Dayna Roselli: We just got done interviewing Chef Mark Vettry, award-winning chef.
- 13:59Dayna Roselli: Um, and he's got a restaurant over there at the top of the palms.
- 14:02Dayna Roselli: And then you and I on the 14th are also going to one of the semifinal games for the NBA Cup that's being played here in Las Vegas.
- 14:08Dayna Roselli: Holy, this is just like, and that's there's not one single holiday thing mixed in there.
- 14:14Dayna Roselli: That's all that stuff.
- 14:15Sean McAllister: This is all like the first two weeks of December.
- 14:19Sean McAllister: This isn't even like getting into Christmas time.
- 14:23Dayna Roselli: I feel stressed.
- 14:25Sean McAllister: There's a lot.
- 14:26Sean McAllister: There is a lot going on.
- 14:27Dayna Roselli: But we're going to Janet Jackson on uh December 30th, and I'm pumped for that as well.
- 14:32Sean McAllister: That'll be good.
- 14:33Sean McAllister: The rhythm nation alive and well.
- 14:36Dayna Roselli: So we'll talk about all that stuff, and we'll have all those clips of interviews and stuff like that coming up in future shows.
- 14:41Dayna Roselli: Um, I wanted to really quickly mention that when I go to Vancouver for the Taylor Swift show, I am taking Flair Airlines.
- 14:47Dayna Roselli: And I know a lot of our um podcast listeners listen from all over the world, and they like to know about the different airlines.
- 14:55Dayna Roselli: So I will keep everyone posted on how that goes.
- 14:57Dayna Roselli: It's a budget airline.
- 14:59Dayna Roselli: I got a round trip ticket for$176.
- 15:02Dayna Roselli: Man, but I had to add on luggage there and back because I might buy some stuff in Vancouver because it's, you know, the exchange rate slot.
- 15:10Dayna Roselli: It's good.
- 15:10Dayna Roselli: Oh, right.
- 15:11Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 15:11Dayna Roselli: So I might buy some holiday stuff.
- 15:12Dayna Roselli: So I'm gonna bring like an actual luggage, even though I'm only going like uh two and a half days, not a carry-on.
- 15:17Dayna Roselli: Um, but me and my friend, and so I had to add on a hundred and then I had to pay uh$14 for a seat.
- 15:22Dayna Roselli: So in the end, it comes out to about$300 for two non-stop flights.
- 15:26Dayna Roselli: I don't think that's bad.
- 15:28Sean McAllister: $300 for two?
- 15:29Sean McAllister: $300 total.
- 15:30Sean McAllister: Or it's sorry.
- 15:31Sean McAllister: Three people.
- 15:32Dayna Roselli: Yes, because it's a hundred it was a hundred and seventy-six round trip total.
- 15:37Dayna Roselli: Jeez, then$50 for the bag on the way there,$50 back, so another hundred, and then$14 to buy a seat there and back.
- 15:47Dayna Roselli: So it came out to about a total to each 300 round trip.
- 15:53Sean McAllister: Wow.
- 15:53Dayna Roselli: So total 600 for two people, one person, 300.
- 15:56Sean McAllister: Right.
- 15:57Dayna Roselli: That's about I know, but there was a pilot in my lobby the other day, and I was talking to the front desk about Flair Airlines, and I was like, Yeah, I'm taking this Flair Airlines.
- 16:05Dayna Roselli: I don't know how it's gonna go.
- 16:06Dayna Roselli: I'm a little nervous.
- 16:07Dayna Roselli: I see Oh, yeah, he laughed at me when he was rolling by.
- 16:11Dayna Roselli: I said, Hey, how's Flare Airlines?
- 16:13Dayna Roselli: And he started laughing.
- 16:14Dayna Roselli: And I was like, What?
- 16:15Dayna Roselli: And he then hit like the door slid open.
- 16:17Dayna Roselli: He goes, You get what you pay for.
- 16:19Dayna Roselli: And I was like, Oh boy.
- 16:20Sean McAllister: Oh no.
- 16:21Dayna Roselli: But what could go wrong on a nonstop flight?
- 16:23Dayna Roselli: I know it's a budget airline and it's like a two-hour and 50-minute flight.
- 16:27Dayna Roselli: I think it's gonna be fine.
- 16:28Sean McAllister: I was gonna say, it's not a long, it's not a long flight.
- 16:31Sean McAllister: I flew up there over the summer to Vancouver, and it's you know, it's a it's a quickie.
- 16:36Sean McAllister: It's a quickie.
- 16:37Sean McAllister: You get your cocktail, maybe two, and you're on the ground.
- 16:40Dayna Roselli: I never drink on the plane.
- 16:42Dayna Roselli: I'm not a plane drinker.
- 16:43Sean McAllister: You're not?
- 16:44Sean McAllister: No.
- 16:44Sean McAllister: Oh, well then send me your coupons.
- 16:46Dayna Roselli: I don't get any because I don't think I'd buy anything.
- 16:50Dayna Roselli: I'm not a plane drinker.
- 16:53Dayna Roselli: But anyway, um, and who knows, maybe they don't even have cocktails on Flare Air Alliance.
- 17:00Sean McAllister: Oh, well, I'm excited for your full report.
- 17:03Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 17:03Dayna Roselli: So I will touch down and we'll be recording a podcast next week and I'll fill everyone in.
- 17:09Dayna Roselli: Um, hey, we need to say farewell to Mayor Carolyn Goodman as our mayor, not farewell when it comes to Las Vegas.
- 17:16Sean McAllister: Yeah, Carolyn Goodman, her uh she has termed out as the mayor of Las Vegas between, if you don't know, uh Carolyn Goodman has, you know, fulfilled all the terms that a person can uh fulfill as mayor of Las Vegas.
- 17:33Sean McAllister: Before that, Carolyn's husband, Oscar Goodman, did the exact same thing.
- 17:39Sean McAllister: He was re-elected and was mayor for as long as you can be.
- 17:43Sean McAllister: So for about 25 years, there has been either Oscar or Carolyn Goodman at the helm of the city of Las Vegas.
- 17:52Sean McAllister: And that has ended.
- 17:55Sean McAllister: We have a new mayor now.
- 17:56Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 17:56Dayna Roselli: Shelley Berkeley, who's also a longtime Las Vegas uh resident, politician, leader.
- 18:03Dayna Roselli: Um mayor Carolyn Goodman finished out her term uh the first, well, this week.
- 18:10Dayna Roselli: This week.
- 18:10Dayna Roselli: So we're recording this uh on uh what is it today?
- 18:13Dayna Roselli: Tuesday, I think her last day is tomorrow.
- 18:15Dayna Roselli: But they they did this beautiful um courtyard area with the bronze statue of them, and I and I loved it.
- 18:21Dayna Roselli: Um and she, yeah, they've been fixtures.
- 18:23Dayna Roselli: We interviewed Oscar Goodman.
- 18:24Dayna Roselli: It was like what?
- 18:25Dayna Roselli: Like our third podcast ever, I think.
- 18:27Sean McAllister: It was early, yeah.
- 18:28Sean McAllister: If you go back and listen, it's it's one of the very first uh episodes of Vegas Revealed with Oscar Goodman.
- 18:34Sean McAllister: And man, does that guy have stories for days for days?
- 18:39Dayna Roselli: You know, you may have seen Oscar Goodman in the movie casino, he was a mob lawyer back in the day.
- 18:45Dayna Roselli: Uh, he talks all about it.
- 18:46Dayna Roselli: Um alleged.
- 18:47Sean McAllister: He will say an alleged mob lawyer.
- 18:50Dayna Roselli: He is so funny.
- 18:52Dayna Roselli: Um, so anyway, they will be missed.
- 18:53Dayna Roselli: We did chat with Carolyn Goodman over at the ribbon cutting of a new restaurant that's opening over at Neanapolis.
- 19:01Dayna Roselli: She shows up to every event for the city for the ribbon cuttings.
- 19:04Dayna Roselli: Um, so we pulled her aside.
- 19:06Dayna Roselli: Let's let's quickly listen to that.
- 19:08SPEAKER_01: I must say that we've had the best ride, and I'm not moving anywhere.
- 19:12SPEAKER_01: We're not going anywhere.
- 19:14SPEAKER_01: We love this community.
- 19:15SPEAKER_01: Neither of us aspired to use it as a stepping stone.
- 19:19SPEAKER_01: We love Las Vegas, love the people, love the community.
- 19:23SPEAKER_01: Every day's been a learning experience, and we've seen this town grow and become something of a cultural base, certainly a sports mecha now.
- 19:34SPEAKER_01: And I know we're looking at film.
- 19:36SPEAKER_01: We almost got there about eight years ago, and we got some money that was lost because building other things, and we just had the best of times.
- 19:45SPEAKER_01: And in the beginning, I never knew what I was gonna be doing in Vegas 60 years ago when we moved here, and I have no idea what the future's gonna be either.
- 19:55SPEAKER_01: But I know the city's ready to move on and go forward and be the best it can be.
- 20:00Dayna Roselli: You can show up to every opening, big or small.
- 20:03SPEAKER_01: That's what I love about you, because it all matters, right?
- 20:06SPEAKER_01: Every single person, that's what it's about.
- 20:08SPEAKER_01: It's the story of that little boy on the beach throwing one starfish back in after another.
- 20:14SPEAKER_01: And every person matters, every person makes a difference, and that's why this city is so incredible.
- 20:21SPEAKER_01: We have a resident people here who are just simply outstanding, they care for what they're doing, and the main thing is that we go on building and changing, but holding on to our history and making it even better than it's been.
- 20:36Sean McAllister: Carolyn always has great advice, doesn't she?
- 20:39Dayna Roselli: She does, and you know, like she said, they aren't going anywhere.
- 20:42Dayna Roselli: They love Las Vegas so much.
- 20:44Dayna Roselli: I could never ever picture them moving.
- 20:47Sean McAllister: No way.
- 20:48Sean McAllister: No my gosh, and even Oscar, after he was done being uh mayor, he went around the world representing Las Vegas and attracting new convention business to our city.
- 21:01Sean McAllister: So I mean the two of them are just fixtures here, they are faces of Las Vegas and have have done a lot to contribute to what lay Las Vegas has become.
- 21:14Dayna Roselli: Well, the uh you know, one of her last duties in public was to present a key to the city, to the Chippendales.
- 21:23Sean McAllister: Who have flanked her at most of her public events throughout the years.
- 21:30Dayna Roselli: They're tight.
- 21:31Sean McAllister: They are tight.
- 21:34Dayna Roselli: Yeah, so uh speaking of the Chippendales, I was like, all right, well, we've got an update.
- 21:38Dayna Roselli: The Chippendales are moving from the Rio after 22 years.
- 21:43Sean McAllister: 22 years.
- 21:45Sean McAllister: Uh more than you know what has happened in that 25 year 22 years?
- 21:51Sean McAllister: Uh there have been 275,000 tank tops ripped off of those.
- 22:00Sean McAllister: Muscle Chippendale bodies.
- 22:02Dayna Roselli: I have two of them.
- 22:03Sean McAllister: Two of them?
- 22:04Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I have two.
- 22:05Dayna Roselli: I have one from um when Vinny was in the show.
- 22:07Dayna Roselli: He threw his rips.
- 22:08Sean McAllister: Vinny from Jersey Shore.
- 22:10Dayna Roselli: Vinny from Jersey Shore.
- 22:11Dayna Roselli: I have his.
- 22:12Dayna Roselli: And then one of my favorite Chippendales and friends, John Howes.
- 22:15Dayna Roselli: I have his as well.
- 22:16Dayna Roselli: Vinny's, I do clean the car dashboard with every now and then.
- 22:20Dayna Roselli: I have it underneath my seat.
- 22:23Sean McAllister: So a piece of Vinny travels with you and helps you clean.
- 22:27Dayna Roselli: Helps me clean.
- 22:28Dayna Roselli: I'm like, what could I do with this?
- 22:29Dayna Roselli: I don't want to throw it out.
- 22:30Dayna Roselli: Um, let's see.
- 22:31Dayna Roselli: You know, it's such a great souvenir.
- 22:34Dayna Roselli: Keep it in my car.
- 22:35Dayna Roselli: So I had it under the seat, and I thought, you know what?
- 22:37Dayna Roselli: This is a great little dashboard cleaner.
- 22:39Sean McAllister: Oh my God.
- 22:40Sean McAllister: And next time we talk with either Vinny or his buddy Pauly D, you need to tell him, be like Vinny, you know, I dust my dashboard with your shirt.
- 22:50Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 22:51Dayna Roselli: I don't know if that's a compliment or not.
- 22:54Dayna Roselli: Oh my gosh.
- 22:55Dayna Roselli: That is so funny.
- 22:56Dayna Roselli: Well, uh, let's get to the hook here.
- 22:58Dayna Roselli: They're moving over to the link on the Las Vegas strip.
- 23:02Dayna Roselli: Uh now their last performance is gonna be New Year's Eve.
- 23:05Dayna Roselli: So if if you don't have plans yet, actually, I don't have plans on New Year's Eve.
- 23:08Dayna Roselli: I may have to go over and see the last Chippendale show at the Rio.
- 23:12Sean McAllister: Bid them farewell.
- 23:13Dayna Roselli: Yeah, that could be that's gonna be a fun night.
- 23:16Sean McAllister: It will.
- 23:16Sean McAllister: You know that they're gonna be like on their game.
- 23:20Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 23:21Sean McAllister: For their last show in that theater.
- 23:23Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 23:23Dayna Roselli: Oh, that's gonna be great.
- 23:24Dayna Roselli: So they're gonna be over at the link.
- 23:26Dayna Roselli: When does that start?
- 23:26Dayna Roselli: January 14th.
- 23:28Sean McAllister: January 14th inside the Matt Franco Theater.
- 23:31Dayna Roselli: Yeah, which I think is weird.
- 23:32Dayna Roselli: I'm just gonna be honest.
- 23:33Dayna Roselli: We can't be positive about everything.
- 23:35Dayna Roselli: I don't know.
- 23:36Dayna Roselli: I feel like, you know, it's weird because they had the Chippendales Theater and they were the only ones in there for so long.
- 23:42Dayna Roselli: It's weird to have the Chippendales in a theater named after the magician that also performs there during different days.
- 23:50Dayna Roselli: I don't know.
- 23:51Dayna Roselli: Maybe maybe they need to rethink that.
- 23:53Dayna Roselli: I'm not saying change it one or the other, but maybe just a general.
- 23:56Dayna Roselli: But you know, I mean Matt Franco is the Matt Franco theater's been there a long time.
- 24:00Dayna Roselli: You can't just change it.
- 24:01Dayna Roselli: But anyway, I don't know.
- 24:02Dayna Roselli: Just gets a little wonky there for a minute.
- 24:06Sean McAllister: So it can be a uh a holiday task to try and come up with a solution for that.
- 24:10Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 24:11Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 24:12Dayna Roselli: Maybe it's just I don't know.
- 24:14Dayna Roselli: The something the something else theater.
- 24:17Dayna Roselli: Something else theater.
- 24:18Dayna Roselli: A link theater.
- 24:19Sean McAllister: How about that?
- 24:19Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 24:20Dayna Roselli: Well, I mean, the Chippendales will be on the strip now, so we'll see what happens.
- 24:23Dayna Roselli: It's been so long, I don't know, you know, either of us, you know, and and even the Chippendales themselves don't know another theater or another location.
- 24:30Dayna Roselli: So this is gonna be interesting to see them in a different surrounding.
- 24:33Dayna Roselli: But I'm sure they'll put on a great show, as they always do.
- 24:36Dayna Roselli: We love the Chippendales.
- 24:38Sean McAllister: Hey, uh, we have a big anniversary coming up on December 13th, coming up next week.
- 24:44Sean McAllister: Uh, it is the one-year anniversary of Fountain Blue Las Vegas, and it's right, it's kind of crazy that it's already been a year.
- 24:52Dayna Roselli: I know, I can't believe it.
- 24:54Dayna Roselli: Although it seems like a long year as well.
- 24:56Dayna Roselli: I it's hard to decide there if I feel like it's gone quicker quickly, or yeah, or it's been forever.
- 25:05Sean McAllister: Well, but anyway, I feel like Fountain Blue already feels like it's been a long time fixture here on the strip.
- 25:13Sean McAllister: Maybe because we've lived with the building, we've stared at that building for 20 years, yep, but it's only been open as a you know, an occupied building for a year.
- 25:24Dayna Roselli: True, true.
- 25:25Dayna Roselli: You know, they've come a long way uh this year.
- 25:27Dayna Roselli: I think they add a lot of things and they've done a lot of wonderful things um to contribute to the community.
- 25:35Dayna Roselli: And I think, you know, bringing in the locals uh with the ice rink and the movies on the pool deck and the you know, giving perks to the people that actually stay there.
- 25:43Dayna Roselli: The parking is usually, I mean, like at least four hours free.
- 25:47Dayna Roselli: So um I love the property.
- 25:49Dayna Roselli: I told you I live near there, so I go there often.
- 25:52Dayna Roselli: And I love the Fountain Blue.
- 25:54Dayna Roselli: I I'm excited that they're here.
- 25:56Dayna Roselli: I can't believe that it's been a year.
- 25:58Dayna Roselli: Um during our um weekend shows for our television show, Vegas Reveal the Airs on Fox Five, we are gonna actually show the red carpet opening of that night because we actually didn't have a show one year ago on television.
- 26:12Dayna Roselli: And so we've cut some pieces of that and we're gonna celebrate the one year of the fountain blue on television.
- 26:18Dayna Roselli: It will then go on our YouTube page if you want to watch it.
- 26:21Sean McAllister: So if you're here in Las Vegas, you can look for that uh on Fox Five coming up on December 15th.
- 26:28Dayna Roselli: Hey, before we get to tips, I just want to give a big shout out to our presenting sponsor, Level Up Law.
- 26:34Dayna Roselli: If you've been injured in an accident or at work, give them a call at 855 LevelUp, or you can go to their website.
- 26:40Dayna Roselli: It is leveluplaw.com.
- 26:43Dayna Roselli: They're great, and they will give you advice on what you need to do next, if they can take on your case and help you out.
- 26:50Sean McAllister: And even if you're wondering, gosh, do I even have a case on my hands?
- 26:55Sean McAllister: They'll do a free consultation with you.
- 26:58Sean McAllister: So give them a call.
- 26:59Sean McAllister: The number again is 855 level up, and they'll hear what your situation is and whether you have a case to move forward with, and then how they can help you with that.
- 27:10Sean McAllister: So it all starts with that phone call, 855 Level Up.
- 27:14Sean McAllister: You can also find them at leveluplaw.com.
- 27:18Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and they do focus on the personal injury, um, but a lot of other things too.
- 27:23Dayna Roselli: Uh storm damage.
- 27:24Dayna Roselli: So just give them a call if you feel like you need a lawyer.
- 27:27Sean McAllister: All right, it's time for our tips.
- 27:32Dayna Roselli: All right, John.
- 27:33Dayna Roselli: Recently we went to Neanapolis for ribbon cutting for a new restaurant that's opening there.
- 27:37Dayna Roselli: We told you about that.
- 27:38Dayna Roselli: The Hush Puppy is coming to Neanapolis.
- 27:40Dayna Roselli: Uh, they already have a fat sales up there that they just opened, and they're really adding in a lot of stuff.
- 27:45Dayna Roselli: They also opened a new nightclub there uh over the summer.
- 27:49Dayna Roselli: I think it was July.
- 27:50Dayna Roselli: It's called Substance Nightclub.
- 27:52Sean McAllister: Yeah, and this is a a nightclub that um brings uh like the EDM vibe to downtown Las Vegas, which isn't necessarily something that you would expect in downtown Las Vegas.
- 28:05Sean McAllister: At least it's not something that we've had uh that's had a big presence downtown in that Fremont Street district before.
- 28:12Sean McAllister: But Sub Substance Nightclub is the place for nights out.
- 28:18Sean McAllister: It's uh and we went inside and it's a really nice venue.
- 28:22Dayna Roselli: It is a nice space.
- 28:23Dayna Roselli: And you know what they say?
- 28:24Dayna Roselli: They're they're actually bringing in a lot of people and enjoying the crowds, but they want people to know that they are there still.
- 28:31Dayna Roselli: So we went over and talked with the folks.
- 28:33Dayna Roselli: We went upstairs and we said, let's go check this out.
- 28:35Dayna Roselli: They happen to be inside and we got to catch up with them.
- 28:38SPEAKER_00: So this is our first brick and mortar uh building in Vegas here, but we've been involved in nightlife as promoters and talent buyers and such for going over 20 years now, um starting with you know warehouse parties in the late 90s, things like that.
- 28:50Dayna Roselli: And why did you choose this location?
- 28:52Dayna Roselli: I mean, it's a great spot.
- 28:54SPEAKER_00: We love downtown Las Vegas.
- 28:55SPEAKER_00: I mean, it it always feels like the locals' destination.
- 28:57SPEAKER_00: Our our events are marketed more to locals than you know on the on the level with the tourists on some of the big strip-based nightclubs.
- 29:04SPEAKER_00: Um we're locals first, we grew up here, we you know have been here for a long time.
- 29:09SPEAKER_00: So um, you know, Las Vegas Boulevard and Fremont Street, I can't really think of a more exciting destination in the country, frankly, to put up any kind of project.
- 29:17SPEAKER_00: So it just made perfect sense for us to be here.
- 29:19Dayna Roselli: And how's it been going?
- 29:20SPEAKER_00: It's been great.
- 29:20SPEAKER_00: It's it's been a whirlwind.
- 29:22SPEAKER_00: We only opened in the middle of July.
- 29:23SPEAKER_00: Um July 12th was the the grand opening, and it's been crazy since then.
- 29:27SPEAKER_00: Um we're just we're overwhelmed by the support that we've received from everybody.
- 29:31SPEAKER_00: The community has been really positive.
- 29:32SPEAKER_00: Um we've just we've just been making all the changes along the way that we can.
- 29:36SPEAKER_00: I mean, we've we've we we're in change in pursuit of perfection with this place, you know.
- 29:40SPEAKER_00: We we keep adding things, we keep just thinking of things every night that we're in here, you know, not only as fans, but as promoters and everything else.
- 29:47SPEAKER_00: We're just trying to create this place into the ultimate destination for entertainment that you know we ourselves would want to be at and we'd want to party at.
- 29:54SPEAKER_00: Right now, electronic music and Latin content, um, Fridays and Saturdays are our sort of two anchor nights each week.
- 30:01SPEAKER_00: Um, like I said, we've been electronic music promoters here in Vegas for many, many years.
- 30:05SPEAKER_00: Um we're we're familiar with that scene, we're familiar with the artist, and um we brought a lot of that over here with substance, and our goal when we were building it out was to really create a destination not like anything else in downtown Las Vegas.
- 30:17SPEAKER_00: Um we have a sound system, you can see a high-definition uh LED wall here, bigger than anything in this area.
- 30:23SPEAKER_00: Um, we wanted to make it a great destination for fans to experience music and and also for the artists to really come here and just really enjoy playing.
- 30:31SPEAKER_00: You know, when when somebody's set is over, we don't want them to just hop right off the stage.
- 30:34SPEAKER_00: We want them to be having so much fun with everybody else that they just want to keep playing.
- 30:37SPEAKER_00: On substancelv.com and our socials are substancelv has a full listing of all the upcoming events, ticket links, all that stuff, so you can see what we have going on.
- 30:45Dayna Roselli: What time do you open and when do you close?
- 30:47SPEAKER_00: It's usually 10 p.m.
- 30:49SPEAKER_00: doors on weekends unless we have a special event happening.
- 30:51SPEAKER_00: We close um when the last person goes home.
- 30:54SPEAKER_00: Sometimes it goes till sunrise, it really all depends.
- 30:56Sean McAllister: And with the crowds that you've had in here so far, what's been the mix between like the locals and tourists?
- 31:03SPEAKER_00: So it's interesting with us because our crowds are 80 to 85 percent local.
- 31:07SPEAKER_00: Most of our marketing is local focused.
- 31:08SPEAKER_00: We like to say we have an inside out approach where, you know, we put on for Vegas, you take care of the locals, and I feel like the tourists will come.
- 31:15SPEAKER_00: Um, I always like to believe, you know, it's difficult to compete with some of the billion-dollar businesses on the strip with in terms of marketing dollars and just some of the offerings they have to try and bring people in destination style.
- 31:25SPEAKER_00: But for us, we feel like the best marketing you can have is still word of mouth.
- 31:28SPEAKER_00: It's you make your locals happy.
- 31:30SPEAKER_00: You know, the out-of-towners are always going to come and ask them what to do when they're in Vegas and where they have to be.
- 31:34SPEAKER_00: And we kind of want to be that destination that's on the lips of all the locals, telling every all their friends.
- 31:39Dayna Roselli: And Joe, that you just heard talking there, he's a owner and partner of Substance.
- 31:43Dayna Roselli: And so you heard him.
- 31:44Dayna Roselli: He says, you know, they've been in town a long time and uh they do appreciate the locals and tourists alike.
- 31:50Sean McAllister: Yeah, so um, congratulations, Substance, on bringing the uh new nightlife vibe to downtown Las Vegas.
- 31:58Sean McAllister: Hey, uh speaking of nightlife vibes and party vibes, New Year's Eve is coming up, and there's like an entire week of entertainment events that are happening leading up to that countdown into 2025.
- 32:13Dayna Roselli: Yeah, there are things that are happening on New Year's Eve, and then there are things, like you said, happening leading up to and after, really.
- 32:21Dayna Roselli: And so, you know, we basically just want to say the list is very long.
- 32:24Dayna Roselli: Um, we did get a big chunk of it in our television show that's running actually the weekend of uh December 8th.
- 32:31Dayna Roselli: I think we're gonna put it in our December 22nd show as well.
- 32:34Dayna Roselli: But just like a list of like if any of these appeal to you, you need to get on it now.
- 32:38Dayna Roselli: And so Janet Jackson will be at Resorts World.
- 32:41Dayna Roselli: Jason DeRulo is going back to Voltaire at the Venetian.
- 32:45Dayna Roselli: Um, he's not actually doing New Year's Eve night, but I think it's like a couple days before.
- 32:49Dayna Roselli: Uh, who else is coming?
- 32:50Dayna Roselli: Duranda Ran.
- 32:52Sean McAllister: Duranda Ran is going to be over at Fountain Blue.
- 32:55Sean McAllister: Uh 50 Cent is gonna be uh launching an engagement over at Planet Hollywood.
- 33:01Sean McAllister: Uh we have Imagine Dragons who are performing at the Venetian theater.
- 33:06Sean McAllister: Creed is at the Coliseum over at Caesar's Palace.
- 33:11Sean McAllister: I mean, the shows that we just mentioned are uh kind of just a handful of what's going on.
- 33:17Sean McAllister: There's so much more.
- 33:18Sean McAllister: Plus, there's going to be fireworks on the strip, downtown, all over the place.
- 33:22Dayna Roselli: Yeah, the plaza just announced their fireworks too.
- 33:25Dayna Roselli: So yeah, make your plans now.
- 33:26Dayna Roselli: It's always better to just have something um already.
- 33:30Dayna Roselli: So you don't have to like scramble the week of, although I must say, I'm the type that scrambles the week up.
- 33:35Dayna Roselli: I give out all the advice for everyone to plan, and then I don't.
- 33:37Sean McAllister: I know, I'm the same way.
- 33:39Sean McAllister: Um, but uh speaking of planning ahead, if you are looking for a dinner reservation uh on actual New Year's Eve, uh keep in mind a lot of restaurants will do a prefix menu.
- 33:52Sean McAllister: So um they'll have a special menu for New Year's Eve.
- 33:56Sean McAllister: Uh there's usually an add-on if you want to add a wine pairing with your dinner as well.
- 34:02Sean McAllister: Um, but a lot of those restaurant options are going to book up.
- 34:08Sean McAllister: So you do need to plan ahead and at least get something on the books.
- 34:11Sean McAllister: You can always change it later.
- 34:13Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 34:13Dayna Roselli: And and we just got reminded of that because Stanton Social Prime over at Caesars Palace just sent us their New Year's Eve menu.
- 34:19Dayna Roselli: And I said, Well, we can't go through and list everything, but it was a good reminder that these menus you know are out there for the special evening.
- 34:28Dayna Roselli: Because they like to plan ahead and have everything secured and have our reservations and a set a set menu.
- 34:33Sean McAllister: Yes.
- 34:34Sean McAllister: Yep.
- 34:34Sean McAllister: So man, New Year's Eve already, already coming.
- 34:38Sean McAllister: 2025 is knocking on our door.
- 34:40Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 34:41Dayna Roselli: It sure is.
- 34:42Dayna Roselli: I can't believe it.
- 34:43Dayna Roselli: Hey, listen, if you are coming in for New Year's Eve or want some help with planning, you can go to the Vegas Near Me app, download it in the Google Play Store, or right there on your iPhone app.
- 34:56Dayna Roselli: It's always adding updated times, shows, free attractions, you name it.
- 35:02Dayna Roselli: And again, it's free for you to download and you don't even have to put in your email.
- 35:06Sean McAllister: All right, that does it for us uh here on Vegas Revealed this week.
- 35:12Sean McAllister: Next week, when uh we chat, we'll be talking about uh the opening of Jason Aldeen's Kitchen and Bar, uh Lisa Vanderpump's new place, Pinkies over at Flamingo, and of course, the big main event, Dana's experience at the Eras Tour with Taylor Swift.
- 35:31Dayna Roselli: And checking out Vancouver for the first time.
- 35:33Dayna Roselli: I'm excited to explore the city, even though it'll be chilly.
- 35:36Dayna Roselli: But I have my big furry coat ready to go.
- 35:38Sean McAllister: It'll be pretty.
- 35:39Dayna Roselli: It'll be pretty.
- 35:40Dayna Roselli: All right, talk to you next week, everyone.
