- 0:00Speaker 1: A ton of college football to get into.
- 0:04Speaker 2: And our NFL power ratings as soon as Brown turns
- 0:07Speaker 2: his in.
- 0:07Speaker 1: There he is. Oh, me too. I got to turn
- 0:09Speaker 1: mine in.
- 0:10Speaker 3: Oh, you.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. Oh, okay, okay. That's me.
- 0:13Speaker 2: We'll delay that one. Brooks didn't throw you under the bus.
- 0:15Speaker 2: He was throwing Brown under the bus the entire pre-show.
- 0:17Speaker 1: That's right. Yeah, I know you want to do the
- 0:19Speaker 1: NFL power rating, but. I'd give it up on the NFL. Brown, Brown.
- 0:22Speaker 4: L.T.
- 0:22Speaker 1: Had to move the Rams completely out. No, no, no.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Don't make it sound like I was in here causing
- 0:28Speaker 1: a scene about Brown. Oh, no, no. It wasn't a scene.
- 0:31Speaker 2: You said the entire pre-show. You stood right here, Brooks,
- 0:35Speaker 2: and waited for me to ask you, do you need something?
- 0:37Speaker 1: I'm waiting on Brown.
- 0:39Speaker 4: Why?
- 0:39Speaker 1: Why are you waiting on Brown? He hasn't turned in
- 0:42Speaker 1: sentimental power ratings. I was maybe waiting for him to
- 0:44Speaker 1: walk back in the studio. It was about eight minutes
- 0:46Speaker 1: before the show started.
- 0:47Speaker 5: Let's also not pretend that if someone doesn't walk in
- 0:50Speaker 5: there during pre-show and start talking to you that.
- 0:53Speaker 1: You're not a fan of it.
- 0:55Speaker 2: It was very theatrical. He was standing right here. It
- 0:58Speaker 2: was a show. He was putting on a show is
- 1:00Speaker 2: what he was doing. Hey, Brooks, will you do me
- 1:01Speaker 2: a favor? I cut and pasted from last week. Would
- 1:03Speaker 2: you make sure I changed a few?
- 1:06Speaker 1: I did move the Titans back above the Dolphins. They
- 1:08Speaker 1: won a game, so I had to move them above us.
- 1:11Speaker 1: You did change your bottom line. Okay, good, good.
- 1:13Speaker 2: When I sent my SEC power ratings in, I sent
- 1:16Speaker 2: it in really quick Saturday night, and Brooks was like,
- 1:19Speaker 2: you know Arkansas just beat Vanderbilt just now finished, and
- 1:22Speaker 2: I was like, Well, I'm, I'm.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Ranking, uh, it's all 16, 16 times. Well, that's the
- 1:27Speaker 1: way I do it with Brooks is I cut and
- 1:29Speaker 1: paste from last week and then I changed them in
- 1:31Speaker 1: the text box. And I'm just waiting for Brooks to say, Brown,
- 1:33Speaker 1: you've got Oklahoma in here four times or something like that.
- 1:35Speaker 1: I'm this close to just saying, Brooks, you fill mine out.
- 1:38Speaker 1: I mean, it's all the coaches pull here now. You're,
- 1:42Speaker 1: you're our SID. Who even knows who's good anymore. So
- 1:45Speaker 1: I don't know why I don't, I don't even know
- 1:47Speaker 1: if we're doing an actual exercise. It's my last show
- 1:49Speaker 1: for a while. Cause I'm heading to Ireland tomorrow, but, uh,
- 1:52Speaker 1: And I'm going to miss Halloween here with you guys.
- 1:54Speaker 1: The best right here, Tyler, hit this for me. The
- 1:56Speaker 1: best Halloween costume I have seen on the Internet is
- 2:01Speaker 1: this kid from Milwaukee. Watch it if you haven't seen it.
- 2:06Speaker 6: I got beat up by the Brewers.
- 2:09Speaker 1: That's pretty good. That is fantastic. But what is he,
- 2:15Speaker 1: just a Dodger? He's just a Dodger. He's an LA Dodger.
- 2:18Speaker 1: And he's all bloodied and everything. I got beat up
- 2:20Speaker 1: by the Brewers. That's pretty funny. Have you seen that
- 2:24Speaker 1: Brewers ticket story? About how it's more expensive than the
- 2:27Speaker 1: Super Bowl? No, no, no, no, no. This is amazing.
- 2:30Speaker 7: I can't even imagine what those tickets are going for
- 2:32Speaker 7: because that's a great fan base.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Game one, $ 2, 809 get-in price for game one of the
- 2:38Speaker 1: World Series. That's crazy.
- 2:40Speaker 7: You know, that is one thing that I've been to
- 2:42Speaker 7: a lot of different events, but I have never been
- 2:43Speaker 7: to a World Series game.
- 2:45Speaker 1: I had tickets. Brave Yankees, and it did make it
- 2:49Speaker 1: back to Atlanta. It was one of those where it
- 2:51Speaker 1: went to New York. And it didn't make it back.
- 2:55Speaker 1: I think it was going to be a game six.
- 2:56Speaker 1: I had tickets, too.
- 2:57Speaker 2: We got credentialed at Birmingham TV Market. We were credentialed
- 3:00Speaker 2: for the Braves in Atlanta. They were credentialing us.
- 3:04Speaker 1: We would try. When the Braves are good, we'd try
- 3:05Speaker 1: to go for two or three times a year or so.
- 3:07Speaker 1: So is this what you were talking about? This is it,
- 3:08Speaker 1: the timeless ticket. Have y'all not seen this story?
- 3:10Speaker 8: No, okay.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Tell us the story. This is amazing. All right, so
- 3:13Speaker 1: back in 2015, was this in trash? It was not.
- 3:16Speaker 1: I just thought that's what you were about to bring up.
- 3:18Speaker 1: So back in 2015, when the Brewers really sucked, they
- 3:21Speaker 1: did 1,000 timeless tickets, and it was $ 1, 000.
- 3:25Speaker 2: You paid $ 1, 000, and they gave 1,000 of them away.
- 3:28Speaker 1: Right. For this bronze ticket, this actual bronze ticket, and
- 3:31Speaker 1: you can redeem it for any game, and you get
- 3:34Speaker 1: the best available ticket. All right? So any game you
- 3:36Speaker 1: go to, you get the best available ticket. And it
- 3:39Speaker 1: came with nine other tickets that you could redeem just
- 3:42Speaker 1: for a regular season game. Right. So that's what you got.
- 3:44Speaker 1: For $ 1, 000, you got this ticket that you could redeem
- 3:48Speaker 1: for any game in the future. For the best available ticket.
- 3:51Speaker 1: For the rest of the Brewers. For the rest of
- 3:53Speaker 1: the Brewers. You know, for the rest of the life
- 3:55Speaker 1: of the Brewers. And you got nine tickets to another game. Well,
- 3:58Speaker 1: guess what happens? Some people have saved this. And now
- 4:00Speaker 1: the World Series is coming to Milwaukee. They're like, guess
- 4:03Speaker 1: what I have? Yeah, I've got a timeless ticket. I've
- 4:06Speaker 1: got a timeless ticket. But how do they have any
- 4:08Speaker 1: tickets available? That's right. They do, though. Well, because you've
- 4:11Speaker 1: got tickets available that go on sale to the public. Right?
- 4:14Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:14Speaker 1: So these people start showing up like... I got my
- 4:18Speaker 1: timeless ticket. What's the best available? Hey, Mr. Willy Wonka.
- 4:22Speaker 1: I got the golden ticket. You know what it reminded
- 4:24Speaker 1: me of is maybe the best Office episode of all time,
- 4:28Speaker 1: Scott Stotts. You didn't watch the whole Office. Tell me
- 4:31Speaker 1: you've seen Scott Stotts. Oh, yes. Where he promises the—
- 4:35Speaker 1: It's the most cringe. It's the most cringe. Awkward TV
- 4:39Speaker 1: show of all time. That's an uncomfortable watch.
- 4:42Speaker 4: Oh, it is.
- 4:42Speaker 1: It is the worst. It's the worst. With their sixth graders,
- 4:45Speaker 1: he promises, if you graduate high school, I'll pay for
- 4:47Speaker 1: your college. And then they're seniors now, so they're like, hey,
- 4:50Speaker 1: we're here to celebrate. You're paying for our college. And
- 4:52Speaker 1: they're honoring him. They're bringing him back.
- 4:54Speaker 4: Mr.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Scott, thank you. Yeah, yeah. And he gives them a
- 4:56Speaker 1: computer battery because he can't pay for their college. And
- 4:59Speaker 1: he's standing up, and they're standing up telling Mr. Scott,
- 5:01Speaker 1: you know, I.
- 5:02Speaker 7: Do you have any similarities with Michael Scott?
- 5:06Speaker 2: I cringe on that show, but that was the saddest
- 5:09Speaker 2: one of all time. They're all wearing shirts that say
- 5:10Speaker 2: Scott's Tots. There's a newspaper article.
- 5:12Speaker 1: It's hilarious. So he made this promise thinking he was
- 5:14Speaker 1: going to be a millionaire, but he didn't quite get
- 5:16Speaker 1: to the millionaire. So the Brewers make this promise like,
- 5:18Speaker 1: What could go wrong?
- 5:19Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 5:19Speaker 1: You could make the World Series if people still have it.
- 5:21Speaker 1: So now people are showing up with this type of ticket.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Did they sell all of them? Yeah, they sold all
- 5:25Speaker 1: of them. Most people had used them by now, but
- 5:27Speaker 1: some people still have it. So they show up, where's
- 5:29Speaker 1: my World Series ticket, dog? And the brewers are in
- 5:32Speaker 1: a buying now. That's really smart, though, you know? Yeah. Well,
- 5:35Speaker 1: but here's what happened.
- 5:36Speaker 7: Well, you know you at least got two games, right?
- 5:38Speaker 1: The Brewers had some good tickets, and the problem was
- 5:41Speaker 1: they were trying to shove these people into standing room only. Like,
- 5:44Speaker 1: that was not the deal. That's right. The deal was
- 5:46Speaker 1: best available ticket. That's right. Not standing room only. That's
- 5:49Speaker 1: not best available. Yeah.
- 5:51Speaker 2: That's when you, you know, I don't know if you've,
- 5:54Speaker 2: a lot of you don't watch playoff baseball or baseball
- 5:56Speaker 2: at all, but in playoff baseball, they add like a
- 6:02Speaker 2: photographer pool. Like it happened the other night in Cleveland.
- 6:06Speaker 2: The guy was a first baseman was going over to
- 6:09Speaker 2: catch a foul ball and he made the catch, but
- 6:11Speaker 2: he bumped in to the edge of the photographer well
- 6:15Speaker 2: that they put in. And they were explaining that well
- 6:17Speaker 2: is not there during the regular season. There's a little
- 6:20Speaker 2: bit more space at the extended end of the dugout
- 6:23Speaker 2: there usually for him. But for extra photographers, they've added
- 6:26Speaker 2: this photographer's.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Well in Cleveland. I'm sure they did in Tampa and
- 6:30Speaker 1: other places, too. So it's different.
- 6:32Speaker 2: I would add a few more seats just in case
- 6:35Speaker 2: to cover up for these guys.
- 6:36Speaker 1: So what year was this?
- 6:37Speaker 4: 2015.
- 6:37Speaker 1: So these people have been holding them for a decade.
- 6:40Speaker 1: So the value is about the same. Well, yeah, and
- 6:43Speaker 1: the Brewers are trying to get out of it. They're
- 6:45Speaker 1: not trying to get out.
- 6:45Speaker 3: Of doing it.
- 6:45Speaker 1: You see what I'm saying?
- 6:46Speaker 7: If you would have waited, if you would have invested
- 6:48Speaker 7: that money, you could easily get a ticket today.
- 6:51Speaker 1: Because what did you say? The tickets are $ 2, 000?
- 6:52Speaker 2: That's what they are. Getting in is $ 2, 809 for game one.
- 6:57Speaker 1: I'm sure some of these people kept them just thinking
- 6:59Speaker 1: it would be something cool to have over the years.
- 7:01Speaker 1: And now that they're in the World Series, they're like,
- 7:02Speaker 1: Maybe it'd be cooler to go to a World Series game. Well,
- 7:04Speaker 1: you could always say, like, if we ever make the
- 7:06Speaker 1: World Series, I've got a ticket.
- 7:08Speaker 7: Now, would you hold out if you're a Brewers fan
- 7:10Speaker 7: with home field that it comes back for a game
- 7:13Speaker 7: seven possibly?
- 7:14Speaker 1: Six or seven to clinch it. Where's my ticket? Which
- 7:16Speaker 1: is sort of the way you feel it'll go, right?
- 7:18Speaker 2: Everyone's saying Milwaukee's going to win probably in a game
- 7:21Speaker 2: six or seven back in Milwaukee.
- 7:23Speaker 1: It'd be funny if the Brewers were like, oh, we've
- 7:25Speaker 1: got your timeless ticket. It's in Tampa. There were plenty
- 7:28Speaker 1: of seats available in Tampa. You could, though. There are
- 7:31Speaker 1: a few left in that upper deck.
- 7:32Speaker 7: I'm sure if they flew you, you'd be all about it.
- 7:34Speaker 1: I'll take it. Sure. Why not? Yeah, absolutely. All right.
- 7:37Speaker 2: We get into what I wanted to start the show
- 7:39Speaker 2: off with here, a little college football situation with one
- 7:45Speaker 2: of the better teams. After I remind you, the show
- 7:47Speaker 2: being brought to you by Hard Rock Bet, and it'll
- 7:50Speaker 2: be interesting to see where this team is, the future
- 7:52Speaker 2: for this team, As far as a national championship contender,

- 8:35Speaker 2: HardRock.bet backslash Clay. Here is cut number 11. Ryan Day
- 8:43Speaker 2: yesterday talking to NBC4 Columbus, part of the news conference there.
- 8:47Speaker 2: on Julian Sayen's injury for the Buckeyes?
- 8:52Speaker 4: First off, we're not going to put any timeline on
- 8:57Speaker 4: his recovery, but he is out indefinitely. And so, you know,
- 9:02Speaker 4: what we're trying to do is give Julian and his family,
- 9:04Speaker 4: you know, the space and privacy to go through this process.
- 9:08Speaker 4: But based on the nature of the injury, you know,
- 9:11Speaker 4: we are putting together a plan for him not being
- 9:14Speaker 4: available for the regular season and then also him not
- 9:16Speaker 4: being available for the postseason. And so, you know, based
- 9:21Speaker 4: on that and, you know, if he's not able to
- 9:23Speaker 4: return this fall, then we, you know, we're putting a
- 9:25Speaker 4: plan together for that as well. So, you know, that's
- 9:28Speaker 4: really the update I have right now. Again, out of
- 9:31Speaker 4: respect to he and his family.
- 9:33Speaker 2: Okay, so they're putting together a plan of him not
- 9:35Speaker 2: returning this year. Yeah, so Luke Fahey's going to be
- 9:37Speaker 2: the guy.
- 9:38Speaker 7: And here's where it gets complicated for Ohio State because
- 9:41Speaker 7: you blew that lead against Texas. So you've got the
- 9:43Speaker 7: one loss. You escape Bloomington. You can absorb a second loss.
- 9:48Speaker 7: But if you absorb a third loss, if you're the committee,
- 9:52Speaker 7: although that loss was at Texas and the way it
- 9:54Speaker 7: mapped out, if you take on two losses with Fahey,
- 9:59Speaker 7: if I'm the committee, I'm like, this team's not whole.
- 10:01Speaker 1: They're not going in with three losses. And if I'm
- 10:03Speaker 1: Mike Norvell, I'm like, you better not let them in
- 10:05Speaker 1: with a backup quarterback. You better not use that as
- 10:07Speaker 1: an excuse because it caused us. How many games do
- 10:09Speaker 1: they have left? They have got five regular season games.
- 10:12Speaker 1: Here they are.
- 10:13Speaker 2: So they'd be 3-2 to y'all's scenario here. They'd be
- 10:16Speaker 2: a 3-2 team without saying a quarterback.
- 10:18Speaker 1: So they're on a bye this week. They are at USC.
- 10:22Speaker 1: I mean, can you do point spreads on these?
- 10:24Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean, now with Fahey starting and that's going
- 10:26Speaker 7: to be their first game back, USC is going to
- 10:28Speaker 7: be a one-and-a-half point favorite.
- 10:29Speaker 1: Okay, so they're a road dog at USC, so that's tricky.
- 10:32Speaker 1: They host Oregon, and who knows if Dante Moore is
- 10:34Speaker 1: even back.
- 10:35Speaker 7: Yeah, if Dante Moore is back, I would think that
- 10:37Speaker 7: Ohio State, in that situation, is probably a three-and-a-half to
- 10:39Speaker 7: four-and-a-half point favorite. If he's not back, Ohio State's probably seven.
- 10:43Speaker 7: still dangerous game.
- 10:44Speaker 1: Yeah. They host Northwestern normally not dangerous, but it's a
- 10:46Speaker 1: better than normal Northwestern backup quarterback.
- 10:48Speaker 7: They're probably a 13 and a half, 14 and a
- 10:50Speaker 7: half point favorite at Nebraska, uh, eight and a half
- 10:53Speaker 7: to 10.
- 10:53Speaker 1: And then Michigan at home, uh, seven to 10. There's
- 10:56Speaker 1: some tricky games for them with a backup quarterback. None
- 10:58Speaker 1: of it looks easy at that point.
- 11:00Speaker 2: Here is Ryan day on the backup Fahey and then
- 11:04Speaker 2: Tavion St.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Claire.
- 11:06Speaker 4: We're going to play the guy that gives us the
- 11:08Speaker 4: best chance to win. Um, And so, you know, get
- 11:11Speaker 4: both these guys some reps and, you know, get an
- 11:13Speaker 4: idea kind of how these next couple days go. But
- 11:16Speaker 4: based on what we've seen in practice, you know, the last,
- 11:19Speaker 4: you know, month, Luke was ahead of Tavian going into
- 11:22Speaker 4: the game. That's why he went in first. But, you know,
- 11:25Speaker 4: now we have to kind of come up for air
- 11:26Speaker 4: and put together a plan. So we need both the
- 11:28Speaker 4: guys to practice really well and prepare and understand that,
- 11:32Speaker 4: you know, we're going to need them to win a championship.
- 11:34Speaker 4: And shared with them and shared with the team, obviously,
- 11:37Speaker 4: the story of, you know, when we won a national
- 11:39Speaker 4: championship here You know, with Cardell being the third string quarterback.
- 11:43Speaker 4: So it's been done before. And that's a challenge to them.
- 11:46Speaker 4: But it's also a challenge to the entire team. Everybody
- 11:48Speaker 4: needs to step up and do their part and upgrade
- 11:52Speaker 4: across the board, you know, pick up the slack for,
- 11:55Speaker 4: you know, losing Julian.
- 11:56Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:56Speaker 2: So it's a it's a bye week for them, which
- 11:58Speaker 2: is good. So you got time to work this out.
- 12:00Speaker 2: I knew somebody would bring up the 2014 season because
- 12:04Speaker 2: they went through three quarterbacks.
- 12:05Speaker 1: Much different, though. They didn't lose any of those games.
- 12:08Speaker 7: Well, not only that, and Cardale played extremely well at
- 12:12Speaker 7: the highest level, but back then you didn't have a
- 12:14Speaker 7: thing called the transfer portal. Do you think Cardale Jones
- 12:18Speaker 7: in 2014 would have hung around? Your point is you
- 12:20Speaker 7: had better depth than you probably do now. Yeah, you
- 12:23Speaker 7: had guys, and these weren't freshmen. I mean, Tavian St.
- 12:26Speaker 7: Clair is a guy that played six snaps last year,
- 12:28Speaker 7: so he's a sophomore. And then Fahey's a true freshman.
- 12:31Speaker 7: So you've got youth there.
- 12:33Speaker 2: But you would imagine very talented guys. They wouldn't be
- 12:36Speaker 2: quarterbacks at Ohio State. Has Julian Sayen really been blowing
- 12:39Speaker 2: you away.
- 12:40Speaker 1: As a quarterback?
- 12:41Speaker 7: He's taken a step back from last year.
- 12:43Speaker 1: I would agree. I would agree. Whoever it is is
- 12:45Speaker 1: throwing to Jeremiah Smith. That helps. So you've got that
- 12:48Speaker 1: going for you, which is nice.
- 12:50Speaker 7: So last year, Sayen was a Heisman finalist. He completed 77%
- 12:54Speaker 7: of his passes. Down almost a full.
- 12:56Speaker 1: 10% to 68% this year.
- 12:56Speaker 4: Wow.
- 12:59Speaker 7: He has already half the interceptions.
- 13:03Speaker 1: Eight interceptions last year. He's already got four this year.
- 13:05Speaker 1: But with this injury now, you can make an argument
- 13:07Speaker 1: that that was the single biggest win of the college
- 13:09Speaker 1: football season against Indiana on the road in Bloomington because
- 13:13Speaker 1: if they lose that game and absorb the injury... Their
- 13:16Speaker 1: path to the playoff is awful, awful narrow. They've got
- 13:19Speaker 1: a good, I'd say a good shot still even playing
- 13:22Speaker 1: a backup. I mean, this is still Ohio State talent
- 13:24Speaker 1: with a backup.
- 13:25Speaker 2: And I would say, again, three SEC, three Big Ten teams,
- 13:28Speaker 2: regardless of record, in my opinion, Ohio State, you're searching
- 13:30Speaker 2: for teams in the Big Ten at some point, I believe. But,
- 13:34Speaker 2: you know, here's what's amazing.
- 13:35Speaker 7: Like, if I were taking you guys back to week
- 13:37Speaker 7: zero and said, Ohio State, Texas, and Oregon aren't going
- 13:41Speaker 7: to make the college football playoff.
- 13:42Speaker 1: You would have been crazy. My goodness. Crazy to say that. Yeah.
- 13:46Speaker 1: But I mean, right now, I would say I would
- 13:47Speaker 1: bet against all three of them. Well, I mean, I
- 13:50Speaker 1: don't know if we really would. Can we can we
- 13:52Speaker 1: pull up last year's playoff bracket? I don't know if
- 13:55Speaker 1: you can search it on the Internet or if you
- 13:57Speaker 1: still have it last year's playoff bracket. Yeah.
- 14:00Speaker 2: I just want to make a point because we talked
- 14:01Speaker 2: going into the season that, you know, the NFL sort
- 14:05Speaker 2: of churns about 50 percent new teams. And I remember
- 14:08Speaker 2: us doing the topic, but about 50 percent new teams
- 14:12Speaker 2: in the playoffs every year in the NFL. And we
- 14:14Speaker 2: talked about how that had churned the first two years
- 14:17Speaker 2: of the 12-team playoff, how it was about 50% new
- 14:21Speaker 2: teams year-to-year in the playoffs. Well, you start looking right
- 14:24Speaker 2: now at last year's playoff bracket. So Oklahoma's not going
- 14:30Speaker 2: to make it. No, but so let's just talk about new.
- 14:33Speaker 2: BYU would be new. Notre Dame would be new. Let's
- 14:36Speaker 2: just eliminate the ones who were in it last year
- 14:38Speaker 2: and just eliminate those that don't look like.
- 14:40Speaker 1: They're going to be back. Oklahoma doesn't look like they're
- 14:42Speaker 1: going to be back. Tulane, James Madison, they're not going
- 14:44Speaker 1: to be back.
- 14:45Speaker 2: Tulane and James Madison is not going to be back.
- 14:49Speaker 2: Alabama right now is precarious.
- 14:51Speaker 1: A & M' s definitely not back. A & M' s not back. Oregon. Oregon.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Not back, right? I mean, right now, no. Ohio State, precarious. Precarious.
- 14:59Speaker 1: Right now with the injury. Yeah, Texas Tech, shaky as well.
- 15:02Speaker 1: Texas Tech. I mean, they're undefeated. Undefeated. Shaky, undefeated.
- 15:05Speaker 2: But we understand what you're saying. So, I mean, that's
- 15:08Speaker 2: 8 of 12 right there.
- 15:09Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 15:10Speaker 1: I mean, that's going to be 75%.
- 15:13Speaker 7: In the playoffs today would be Kentucky, Tennessee, Utah. Notre Dame, BYU,
- 15:21Speaker 7: and then your new group six.
- 15:22Speaker 1: So that would be half.
- 15:23Speaker 2: That's half right there if the playoffs started today. So
- 15:26Speaker 2: that's churning like an NFL rate of the playoffs. We're
- 15:31Speaker 2: churning through this 12-team playoff pretty quickly.
- 15:33Speaker 7: I mean, right now your Big Ten more than likely
- 15:36Speaker 7: would be– I mean, let's just say Ohio State does
- 15:39Speaker 7: take on those losses.
- 15:40Speaker 1: Let's say they're out. They're 9-3. They're out. So give
- 15:42Speaker 1: me the Big Ten. Indiana. Easy. UCLA.
- 15:44Speaker 7: UCLA.
- 15:46Speaker 1: In either Iowa or USC. Yeah.
- 15:49Speaker 2: I still believe 9-3 Ohio State with those choices would still.
- 15:53Speaker 1: Be in the playoffs.
- 15:53Speaker 7: I don't know, but again, that would be them losing
- 15:56Speaker 7: 2-3 with a backup quarterback. And if Sagan's not ready
- 15:58Speaker 7: for the postseason, are you really going to put him in?
- 15:59Speaker 2: Yeah, that wouldn't be fair to other teams in the
- 16:02Speaker 2: past like Florida State.
- 16:04Speaker 7: This is when, like if I'm in 11-1 Utah, I'm like,
- 16:08Speaker 7: how's a 9-3 Ohio State get in front of us
- 16:10Speaker 7: with a backup quarterback?
- 16:11Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 16:12Speaker 1: As opposed to a third Big 12 team. Well, again,
- 16:15Speaker 1: I mean, the committee has history on this with backup quarterbacks.
- 16:19Speaker 1: And don't forget, Florida State won the game with their
- 16:22Speaker 1: backup quarterback. It was not impressive. Won two of them.
- 16:24Speaker 1: They won two. They beat Florida, and they won the
- 16:26Speaker 1: ACC championship game, right? They did. That's right. With a
- 16:28Speaker 1: backup quarterback. And they weren't impressive. They won them both.
- 16:32Speaker 1: They won both games. The committee was like, nah, Bama
- 16:35Speaker 1: full steam is better than Florida State backup quarterback.
- 16:37Speaker 7: Yeah, I wonder if it's the same mentality. It seemed
- 16:39Speaker 7: like when we had the 14 playoff, the committee was like,
- 16:43Speaker 7: Can these teams win in advance? And basically, with a four-team,
- 16:47Speaker 7: can you win a national championship? With a 12-team, back
- 16:51Speaker 7: end of the 12-team doesn't seem like they can win
- 16:53Speaker 7: a national championship.
- 16:54Speaker 1: I say that.
- 16:54Speaker 7: You saw the run that Miami went on, really the
- 16:56Speaker 7: last at-large last year.
- 17:00Speaker 2: I want to ask you while we're talking about quarterbacks here,
- 17:03Speaker 2: who else is on the Bryce Underwood Express right now?
- 17:07Speaker 2: And by that I mean, if you missed it, Tommy
- 17:10Speaker 2: Carr has been announced as the starter this week for
- 17:12Speaker 2: Michigan against Indiana. More on that coming up later in
- 17:15Speaker 2: the show. So with Bryce Underwood now, the starter who's
- 17:19Speaker 2: being binged, Who else is on the Bryce Underwood Express?
- 17:22Speaker 7: I mean, Mateer, but I know Venables came out yesterday
- 17:24Speaker 7: and said that our best chance at winning, Mateer's got
- 17:27Speaker 7: to stop turning this thing over.
- 17:28Speaker 1: Boy, their backup must be awful. It must be terrible.
- 17:31Speaker 7: And you look at Oklahoma, I mean, with three losses,
- 17:34Speaker 7: they're probably not even in the mix right now.
- 17:36Speaker 1: I mean, Arches. Arches is the first one I wrote down.
- 17:39Speaker 7: I mean, Arches is one of those guys, and I
- 17:41Speaker 7: don't know what it looks like behind him.
- 17:42Speaker 1: And I just, you know, the question, Ole Miss is
- 17:45Speaker 1: the worst defense in yards per game in the SEC,
- 17:48Speaker 1: all right?
- 17:48Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 17:50Speaker 1: But Florida wasn't great either, and Texas couldn't move it
- 17:52Speaker 1: on them. If he struggles any against Ole Miss, you
- 17:55Speaker 1: wonder how short that leash is. K.J. Lacey comes in. Yeah,
- 17:57Speaker 1: they cannot afford another loss, and you would have to
- 18:02Speaker 1: go to DEFCON 1 if he starts to struggle against
- 18:04Speaker 1: Ole Miss and at least try to spark the offense.
- 18:07Speaker 1: You may not go to Lacey permanently, but keep in mind, Texas-Georgia, when–
- 18:14Speaker 1: why can I not say his name? He played for
- 18:15Speaker 1: my Miami Dolphins. When yours was struggling– In that Georgia game,
- 18:19Speaker 1: they went to Arch Manning for a couple drives. So
- 18:21Speaker 1: Sark has a history of doing this. Now they go
- 18:23Speaker 1: back to yours eventually because Arch was ineffective. But they
- 18:26Speaker 1: did that against Georgia when they were kind of in
- 18:28Speaker 1: this similar situation.
- 18:29Speaker 7: You look at how shaky some of the quarterback play
- 18:31Speaker 7: is for teams that are really close or in right
- 18:35Speaker 7: now to the college football playoff. Iowa, that's shaky quarterback situation. Tennessee,
- 18:39Speaker 7: shaky quarterback situation. UCLA, shaky quarterback situation. Texas Tech, shaky
- 18:44Speaker 7: quarterback situation. I mean, normally in college football now, you've
- 18:49Speaker 7: got to have a really, really good quarterback to be
- 18:51Speaker 7: able to make a run.
- 18:52Speaker 2: Marcel Reed, I throw that in, Texas A & M.
- 18:55Speaker 2: I mean, they're off the beaten path, but that's got
- 18:57Speaker 2: to be close to a change if he doesn't play
- 18:59Speaker 2: well in Tuscaloosa.
- 19:01Speaker 1: We would have said Sam Levitt before last week. That's right.
- 19:05Speaker 7: I just wonder, Mississippi State, if they had already just
- 19:07Speaker 7: mentally tapped out based on the fact that you had
- 19:09Speaker 7: a first-time starting quarterback and No Fluff Bothwell.
- 19:13Speaker 2: I had Levitt written down. I have Philo written down
- 19:16Speaker 2: for Florida now. He's out with an injury, but how
- 19:18Speaker 2: good did the backup look last week? Trammell Jones played
- 19:20Speaker 2: fantastic in Texas.
- 19:22Speaker 7: I thought Trammell played really well. Didn't turn it over,
- 19:24Speaker 7: and the offense looked like it looked three weeks ago.
- 19:26Speaker 1: And I also owe him an apology for calling him
- 19:28Speaker 1: Trammell Jones all offseason. Thought it was Trammell. I think
- 19:30Speaker 1: everybody did. My apologies when the game started and the
- 19:32Speaker 1: announcers were calling him Trammell. I'm like, okay. Don't overcomplicate
- 19:35Speaker 1: a name. It's Trammell. Rucko Beck, Penn State.
- 19:39Speaker 7: I mean, look, they're so dead and buried. Four consecutive
- 19:42Speaker 7: losses now. I mean, he has not played well.
- 19:44Speaker 2: And listen, a guy who took a step back from
- 19:46Speaker 2: me this past weekend, and it was a tough environment
- 19:49Speaker 2: on the road at BYU.
- 19:50Speaker 1: But I didn't think C.J. Carr played that great.
- 19:52Speaker 7: You know, I mean, the first drive they had, he had–
- 19:55Speaker 7: Faison was wide open. I mean, like, it was just
- 19:59Speaker 7: an incredible call, and it's just an uncharacteristic C.J.
- 20:02Speaker 1: Carr.
- 20:03Speaker 7: He seemed a little rattled by that atmosphere, and I
- 20:05Speaker 7: go back and I try to remember– some of the
- 20:07Speaker 7: other atmospheres he played in last year because the A &
- 20:09Speaker 7: M game was at home. I guess the Miami game,
- 20:12Speaker 7: but Miami's not really an atmosphere.
- 20:14Speaker 1: We did this the other week when we were talking
- 20:17Speaker 1: about Marcus Freeman saying, this is what we do. We
- 20:20Speaker 1: go on roads in tough environments, and we went through those.
- 20:22Speaker 1: There are not a lot of them. Notre Dame does
- 20:23Speaker 1: not play tough road environments very often.
- 20:26Speaker 7: Yeah, I think it's safe to say even in, well,
- 20:28Speaker 7: they didn't make the college football playoff. Yeah, that's the
- 20:30Speaker 7: toughest environment he's played in, and it rattled him a
- 20:33Speaker 7: little bit.
- 20:33Speaker 2: But it was chaotic there the other night. All right,
- 20:36Speaker 2: that's our opening segment here. We'll make some early Week
- 20:40Speaker 2: 8 predictions with a little tongue-in-cheek coming up. The Righteous
- 20:45Speaker 2: Gemstone Locks are 12-12.
- 20:47Speaker 1: On the year.
- 20:48Speaker 2: We'll throw out nine more coming up, one guaranteed winner
- 20:54Speaker 2: coming up. We'll do that in the next segment as we.
- 20:56Speaker 1: Roll on today. With us, Chris Doering, SEC.

- 21:36Speaker 2: next round presented by Hard Rock Bet on Sporting State.
- 21:41Speaker 1: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. This is Coach's chair.
- 21:44Speaker 4: What?
- 21:44Speaker 1: We protect Coach's chair the way Hard Rock Bet protects
- 21:47Speaker 1: Coach's account.
- 21:48Speaker 8: Hard Rock Bet keeps Coach's info safe. Hard Rock Bet
- 21:51Speaker 8: keeps Coach's money safe.
- 21:52Speaker 1: And we keep Coach safe. Hey, fellas. Coach. Coach.
- 21:59Speaker 7: How about that protection? Can I grab a wing?
- 22:02Speaker 1: Coach's wings. I guess I'll sit on the ground. That's
- 22:03Speaker 1: where Coach puts his feet.
- 22:05Speaker 5: Safe and secure betting from the very first tap.
- 22:07Speaker 1: Great to meet you, Coach. It was Coach's pleasure.
- 22:12Speaker 2: Back with you on the next round, presented by our
- 22:14Speaker 2: friends at Hard Rock Bet on Sport and State. We'll
- 22:17Speaker 2: get to the righteous Jim Stone locks here in just
- 22:20Speaker 2: a second. But I did want to pass along a
- 22:23Speaker 2: couple of notes. Everybody had a great time in Tampa
- 22:26Speaker 2: Bay in the American League Championship Series, except maybe Derek.
- 22:29Speaker 1: Who's Derek?
- 22:30Speaker 2: Derek is the guy who gave this girl tickets to
- 22:33Speaker 2: the ALCS game, took her, and on the scoreboard it says, Derek,
- 22:38Speaker 2: thank you for the tickets. I'm sorry, but I think
- 22:40Speaker 2: we should stay just friends.
- 22:42Speaker 8: Ouch.
- 22:42Speaker 1: You know how you put the messages up out there
- 22:45Speaker 1: between innings? So she made sure Derek knew he's in
- 22:47Speaker 1: friend zone?
- 22:48Speaker 2: Derek gave her the tickets, you know, maybe wanting a
- 22:51Speaker 2: little bit more, but thank you for the tickets. I'm sorry,
- 22:55Speaker 2: but I think we should just stay friends in the
- 22:57Speaker 2: friend zones there at the ALCS.
- 22:58Speaker 1: Derek in the friend zone. Poor Derek.
- 23:00Speaker 2: And one more World Series note, which starts on Friday.
- 23:03Speaker 2: Yandy Diaz, the only member of Tampa Bay that was
- 23:08Speaker 2: on the 2020 team that was in the World Series,
- 23:12Speaker 2: his story has become very popularized here this year. He
- 23:16Speaker 2: fled on his third try from Cuba on a motorized
- 23:21Speaker 2: raft that he and another prospect had put together. And
- 23:24Speaker 2: they got caught the first two times and put into jail.
- 23:28Speaker 2: And then I think for 21 days total. How do
- 23:30Speaker 2: you put together a motorized raft? It's a wooden raft
- 23:35Speaker 2: with a little motor. 12 hours they were on the
- 23:38Speaker 2: raft on their third attempt to get from Cuba. And
- 23:42Speaker 2: they made it to Haiti.
- 23:43Speaker 1: 12 hours. Surrounded by sharks most of the way, he
- 23:46Speaker 1: tells us. Oh, yeah. Yeah. That's wanting to get out, man.
- 23:50Speaker 1: 12 hours on a raft. ended up in Haiti.
- 23:54Speaker 2: However, he ended up in Haiti. I don't know if
- 23:56Speaker 2: he got picked up by another boat and helped or
- 23:58Speaker 2: if the raft made it all the way to Haiti.
- 23:59Speaker 1: I mean, how bad can it be? 12 hours. Oh,
- 24:01Speaker 1: it's got to be awful. I mean, it's, you know,
- 24:04Speaker 1: I don't know. I guess it's a daily occurrence. Rafts
- 24:06Speaker 1: washing up in Miami of people fleeing Cuba.
- 24:09Speaker 2: So when he overcooks his tomahawk chop like he does
- 24:14Speaker 2: medium well, give him a little grace there.
- 24:16Speaker 7: You think it'd be different if Memphis was where Miami is? And, like,
- 24:20Speaker 7: you had to swim into Memphis.
- 24:22Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 24:22Speaker 7: And that was where you were going, the ninth most
- 24:24Speaker 7: dangerous city in the world.
- 24:25Speaker 1: They got a pyramid. Yeah. That's a Bass Pro Shop, son.
- 24:28Speaker 1: In Havana, they were like, man, there are people fleeing
- 24:30Speaker 1: Memphis every day.
- 24:33Speaker 2: Hey, the show today being brought to you by Clay
- 24:36Speaker 2: Travis Law before we make some college football predictions for
- 24:39Speaker 2: the week.
- 24:39Speaker 7: Accidents do not wait for a good time. One bad moment,
- 24:41Speaker 7: a wreck, a fall, a doctor who wasn't paying attention,
- 24:43Speaker 7: and suddenly you're fighting an insurance company that does this
- 24:46Speaker 7: every single day. That's why Clay started Clay Travis Law,
- 24:49Speaker 7: built firmer on one idea. People deserve someone willing to
- 24:52Speaker 7: pay attention, ask the hard questions, and push back when
- 24:55Speaker 7: things don't add up. Experienced trial attorneys who bring the
- 24:58Speaker 7: fight to corporations and insurers based in Nashville, trusted across
- 25:02Speaker 7: the country. They lead negotiations with Honesty, Determination, and Southern Grit.
- 25:06Speaker 7: Here's what they promise.
- 25:07Speaker 1: Honesty.
- 25:08Speaker 7: They're not going to sugarcoat the case. You're going to
- 25:10Speaker 7: hear exactly what it's worth, not what you want to hear.
- 25:12Speaker 7: Case evaluation is free, no charge, no pressure, no hassle.

- 25:19Speaker 1: That is ClayTravisLaw.com. No case too big or too small.
- 25:27Speaker 1: usually on Thursdays, but since I'm not here tomorrow, it's
- 25:30Speaker 1: time for the righteous Jim Stone-Lox Brooks putting me in
- 25:34Speaker 1: the barber chair. A little off the top, son.
- 25:38Speaker 8: Yep.
- 25:39Speaker 1: Not a rip-off of Bad Beats or anything like that.
- 25:42Speaker 1: It's nothing like Bad Beats. It's just got the same organ.
- 25:44Speaker 1: Or Winners or anything like that. Or Organ. The organ music.
- 25:49Speaker 1: I always want to say organ music. I asked Brian.
- 25:52Speaker 7: We were listening to... I forgot what we were listening to,
- 25:55Speaker 7: but it was a baseball game and I was like,
- 25:57Speaker 7: do you think the Oregon, they'll be playing those in
- 25:59Speaker 7: 100 years?
- 25:59Speaker 1: It was your Dodgers. It was Charlie Steiner doing the
- 26:02Speaker 1: Dodgers game. And in the background here, it's so baseball,
- 26:07Speaker 1: but it's so outdated. Most churches don't do it anymore,
- 26:09Speaker 1: I don't think, right? Oregon? We have a pianist in Oregon. Oh,
- 26:15Speaker 1: an organist? Organist. Y'all play it every Sunday?
- 26:18Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 26:19Speaker 1: Okay. We have a couple of traditional things like the
- 26:21Speaker 1: offering and a couple of things that It's the same
- 26:24Speaker 1: thing every Sunday. I think you have to be a
- 26:26Speaker 1: traditional denomination to still play the organ is my requirement.
- 26:30Speaker 1: I got you. Okay. That is in the traditional service.
- 26:33Speaker 1: We're Southern Baptists. We took the organ out. We've got
- 26:36Speaker 1: guitars and drums in the contemporary service. You know who
- 26:40Speaker 1: plays drums for us? Shades Mountain Baptists in Vestavia? Jonathan Hardison,
- 26:44Speaker 1: Fox 6. Do you all know who plays the drums?
- 26:47Speaker 1: Hardison plays drums in our service a lot. I heard
- 26:49Speaker 1: he was on my podcast. Timeline last night talking about
- 26:52Speaker 1: a 500-person poll on the gubernatorial race. That's right. That's
- 26:55Speaker 1: a representative sample is what we call that. But Hardison
- 26:58Speaker 1: plays the drums, yeah. He's good, too. I mean, I
- 27:00Speaker 1: don't know anything about him. Their weather guy plays the guitar. Huh?
- 27:02Speaker 1: Their weather guy, the meteorologist, plays the guitar. Oh, do they?
- 27:06Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 27:07Speaker 1: And Mickey Ferguson sings.
- 27:08Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 27:09Speaker 1: Deberly does something. Wow. They got a little band up there.
- 27:13Speaker 1: Gotta go on the road. Yeah, they should. Deberly, I think,
- 27:16Speaker 1: plays the harmonica. Probably. Yeah. All right. Hit that organ.
- 27:20Speaker 1: That's all we got here. Crank that up a little bit.
- 27:24Speaker 1: Already is. Tyler's got her wide open, Jimmy. All right.
- 27:29Speaker 2: First righteous gemstone lock of the week. Well, first of all,
- 27:32Speaker 2: we need a recap. Oh, last week we were even.
- 27:35Speaker 2: We're 12-12 in the year.
- 27:36Speaker 1: That's right. There you go. That's what we aim for.
- 27:37Speaker 1: I don't know how you keep up with this. Mediocrity.
- 27:39Speaker 1: It's not easy. It's not easy. It's hard to read
- 27:41Speaker 1: my writing, too. I scribble it at the bottom of
- 27:42Speaker 1: the page. I spend almost 11 minutes on these predictions
- 27:47Speaker 1: every week. Bill asked me a random question like, Brown,
- 27:50Speaker 1: what is Toledo's scoring offense? I'm like, I don't know.
- 27:54Speaker 1: It must be righteous.
- 27:54Speaker 2: All brand games this week because it's a Wednesday. I
- 27:58Speaker 2: don't have a lot of the fine-tuned notes of Mac
- 28:00Speaker 2: games or anything. We'll start with the big one, Ole
- 28:02Speaker 2: Miss and Texas. I'm going to say righteous gemstone lock.
- 28:08Speaker 2: Arch Manning leads Texas in rushing this week. 70 yards.
- 28:14Speaker 1: I'm good to 69 and a half yards rushing for
- 28:16Speaker 1: Arch Manning this week. Okay.
- 28:18Speaker 7: So you're just going the over rushing yards for Arch Manning.
- 28:22Speaker 7: You're just adding the caveat that you believe he'll have
- 28:24Speaker 7: more than Hollywood or relief.
- 28:26Speaker 1: That's right.
- 28:26Speaker 2: I'm going over arch rushing yards, whatever that is. But
- 28:30Speaker 2: I think he's going to lead the team in rushing.
- 28:32Speaker 2: And I think he gets to 70 yards plus rushing
- 28:35Speaker 2: this week.
- 28:36Speaker 1: They're going to take this approach this week against Ole
- 28:38Speaker 1: Miss like Auburn did against Georgia.
- 28:40Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 28:41Speaker 1: Arch needs to run the ball more. Arch runs it
- 28:43Speaker 1: more this week.
- 28:44Speaker 7: I would say if I'm just making that prop right now,
- 28:48Speaker 7: Arch's total rushing yards are probably 32.5.
- 28:51Speaker 1: 32.5.
- 28:51Speaker 7: And you're just going to go on and more than
- 28:55Speaker 7: double it.
- 28:55Speaker 1: Worst defense in the SEC in terms of yards per game, though.
- 28:59Speaker 1: Ole Miss is? Ole Miss is. Oh, that plays right
- 29:01Speaker 1: into it. Texas Tech, who did they play this week? Cincinnati? Yeah,
- 29:04Speaker 1: love the research. Texas Tech, team total. I'm good.
- 29:10Speaker 2: They're over 35. In fact, I think they score 40
- 29:12Speaker 2: points this week. Oh, Cincinnati's awful. Texas Tech.
- 29:14Speaker 1: Oh, you agree with this? I agree. Cincinnati's awful. Texas Tech,
- 29:18Speaker 1: 35 points or more. I think they maybe get into
- 29:21Speaker 1: the 40s. Their offense will look like it's fixed this weekend.
- 29:25Speaker 1: What time does that game go off? That's a good question.
- 29:29Speaker 7: It should be highlighted.
- 29:30Speaker 1: I don't even see it. Oh, yes, 11 a.m. Lance
- 29:31Speaker 1: is going to stay away. Yeah, I will stay away.
- 29:33Speaker 1: Their team total is.
- 29:40Speaker 1: 33, 33 and a half, would you say? 35 or more.
- 29:43Speaker 1: There you go. So two overs there. I'll go in
- 29:47Speaker 1: under here. Last week, Auburn's Byron Brown. I don't know
- 29:49Speaker 1: if y'all saw this game, Auburn beat Georgia. That's an upset.
- 29:52Speaker 2: Byron Brown ran it 26 times for 115 yards. point
- 29:57Speaker 2: of emphasis this week to take Byron Brown away from
- 30:00Speaker 2: the run game yeah I don't think Auburn gets over
- 30:02Speaker 2: 17 points against LSU this week Auburn 17 points or
- 30:06Speaker 2: under whatever their team total.
- 30:08Speaker 1: I think it was 20 I looked yesterday Lance I
- 30:10Speaker 1: think 20 and a half.
- 30:11Speaker 7: Uh well so right now yeah that's about right about
- 30:15Speaker 7: 20 and a half uh LSU third best scoring defense
- 30:18Speaker 7: in the SEC they're only giving up less than 16
- 30:19Speaker 7: points per game.
- 30:22Speaker 1: So it sounds like you like them. That's another good
- 30:24Speaker 1: play by me.
- 30:25Speaker 7: I mean, I think the Auburn expectation this weekend should
- 30:29Speaker 7: probably be dialed back a little bit. But, again, we
- 30:31Speaker 7: said there was no path to victory last week.
- 30:34Speaker 8: 17 or under.
- 30:34Speaker 1: It's an 11 a.m. game. I know it's an 11 a.m.
- 30:36Speaker 4: Game.
- 30:36Speaker 1: So we'll stay away. You like a lot of 11 a.m.?
- 30:38Speaker 1: I like them, but I don't play them. Maybe you
- 30:41Speaker 1: should wake up a little earlier this week and play
- 30:43Speaker 1: those 11 a.m.
- 30:43Speaker 4: Games.
- 30:43Speaker 1: Yeah, if you went to Ireland like Jim, you could
- 30:47Speaker 1: play the 11 a.m. games. It wouldn't be 11 a.m.
- 30:49Speaker 1: over there. Not still, man. If you want to Venmo
- 30:51Speaker 1: me money, I can play it. I mean, you got,
- 30:55Speaker 1: what is it? Oh, my God. William Hill. Those books
- 30:58Speaker 1: are everywhere. Are they?
- 30:59Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Well, I'm dedicated to it. Harder, I bet. I wonder
- 31:03Speaker 1: if I can get that over there.
- 31:04Speaker 7: And you'll be able to find one or two sports
- 31:06Speaker 7: bars in Dublin that will be open for all the games.
- 31:09Speaker 4: Oh, wow.
- 31:10Speaker 1: I didn't know this. Oh, yeah. I didn't know this.
- 31:12Speaker 1: I'm looking forward to it already. I'll play these righteous
- 31:14Speaker 1: gemstone locks. Michigan's got a good game this week. Who
- 31:17Speaker 1: do they play, Indiana? Indiana, Jim. Oh, it's an 11
- 31:19Speaker 1: o'clock game again. 11 o'clock. I was going to stay away.
- 31:22Speaker 1: Zero touchdowns. I don't care how many field goals they kick.
- 31:25Speaker 1: Zero touchdowns for Michigan this week. They don't score a touchdown.
- 31:29Speaker 7: I mean, they brought in the backup quarterback.
- 31:31Speaker 1: I mean, Tommy Carr is playing for a reason. He's
- 31:34Speaker 1: the starter this week.
- 31:35Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean, look, Indiana's defense is salty. Their team total,
- 31:40Speaker 7: I'm doing these on the fly.
- 31:42Speaker 1: I mean, I can pull it up. 28. It's probably
- 31:48Speaker 1: 15 and a half. 15 and a half.
- 31:50Speaker 2: Zero touchdowns. If they go over, it's all field goals.
- 31:54Speaker 2: They don't find the end zone.
- 31:55Speaker 1: Zero touchdowns from Michigan this week. UCF, they're not starting,
- 32:00Speaker 1: by the way. Alonzo Barnett, he will not start UCF
- 32:05Speaker 1: this week as BYU comes to town. Not an 11 a.m. game.
- 32:08Speaker 1: UCF beat TCU. Okay. They played Pitt, Houston, and Oklahoma
- 32:17Speaker 1: State close. I think UCF scores more points on BYU
- 32:23Speaker 1: than Notre Dame did last week. How many did Notre
- 32:25Speaker 1: Dame score? 24, right? Was that right? What is it, 28-24?
- 32:29Speaker 1: That sounds right. 24, yeah. So UCF scores more than
- 32:30Speaker 1: 24 on BYU this week. That's over their team total. Well, yeah.
- 32:43Speaker 7: The total is 43.5 altogether. So, yeah, that would significantly
- 32:46Speaker 7: be over their team total.
- 32:47Speaker 1: Okay.
- 32:49Speaker 8: Four more.
- 32:50Speaker 1: One of them is a guaranteed lock at the end.
- 32:52Speaker 1: All your money is guaranteed.
- 32:55Speaker 2: Shane Beamer, three and four off of bye weeks in
- 32:58Speaker 2: his time at South Carolina. Tennessee coming to town, where
- 33:03Speaker 2: South Carolina is the favorite. Is that still the case?
- 33:05Speaker 2: He's the favorite?
- 33:07Speaker 1: Yep.
- 33:08Speaker 2: Two props in this one. George McIntyre throws two interceptions
- 33:14Speaker 2: in this game.
- 33:16Speaker 1: And Deshaun Bishop is 109 yards rushing or less. South Carolina,
- 33:22Speaker 1: pretty good rush defense. Bishop. 109 yards or less, whatever
- 33:28Speaker 1: his rushing total is, and McIntyre with two turnovers in
- 33:31Speaker 1: this game. That's a righteous gemstone lock. Sets up the
- 33:34Speaker 1: table for a South Carolina win. That's a South Carolina win.
- 33:36Speaker 1: That's what I was going to say right there, Jimmy.
- 33:38Speaker 1: You got South Carolina. You're upending the SEC standings.
- 33:41Speaker 7: I'm really interested to see because, you know, I don't
- 33:42Speaker 7: think people realize South Carolina's got the number one rushing
- 33:45Speaker 7: offense in the SEC. They average over 232 yards per
- 33:50Speaker 7: game going against that Tennessee defense. So can South Carolina
- 33:53Speaker 7: do what Alabama– virtually didn't even try.
- 33:55Speaker 1: To yeah couldn't do run the ball 54 yards um
- 33:58Speaker 1: usc and wisconsin they played this week up in madison
- 34:03Speaker 1: road game for usc yep 49 and a half the
- 34:08Speaker 1: point total in this one 58 or more, these two
- 34:11Speaker 1: teams combined points-wise. Easy over in that game for USC-Wisconsin. Points, points, points.
- 34:18Speaker 1: Did not like what I saw from Colton Joseph last week.
- 34:21Speaker 1: He was not good.
- 34:22Speaker 8: 6-16, 66 yards.
- 34:24Speaker 7: Against that UCLA defense, he will be better at home
- 34:28Speaker 7: against a not as good of a defense with USC.
- 34:31Speaker 2: To go over 49.5, it doesn't all have to be
- 34:33Speaker 2: Wisconsin points, by the way.
- 34:35Speaker 1: I get it. Here come the Trojans. Boy, they are
- 34:37Speaker 1: on NBC every single week. I know. It's five straight
- 34:40Speaker 1: weeks they're going to be on that NBC Prime game.
- 34:42Speaker 1: I don't mind it. Pretty big TV market for NBC.
- 34:45Speaker 1: No doubt. I mean, I'm sure they're eating it up.
- 34:47Speaker 1: Houston and Utah will finish the night. with Houston and Utah. Surprisingly,
- 34:52Speaker 1: the point total in this one is 56-and-a-half. Both these
- 34:56Speaker 1: teams run the ball really well, but both of them
- 34:58Speaker 1: play really good run defense as well. Easy under the
- 35:03Speaker 1: 56-and-a-half here. Under the 56-and-a-half.
- 35:07Speaker 4: Okay.
- 35:07Speaker 1: Under the 56-and-a-half. Easy. I really feel like I'm going
- 35:11Speaker 1: 9-and-0 this week. 9-and-0. Yeah, that seems possible. It's 12-and-12
- 35:14Speaker 1: of the year. Was that the lock? Was that the
- 35:17Speaker 1: mortal lock?
- 35:17Speaker 4: Oh, okay.
- 35:19Speaker 1: College game day is the more to lock. As Tom
- 35:21Speaker 1: told Greg, hey, look, we can send a man to
- 35:23Speaker 1: the moon. So, like, 9-0 is possible. I think 8-0,
- 35:27Speaker 1: the last one, is the righteous gemstone lock of the locks.
- 35:31Speaker 1: What is this? Is it a seven-star play that we
- 35:33Speaker 1: play sometimes at Lance's? I'll go 10.
- 35:36Speaker 5: Go 10.
- 35:36Speaker 7: If you want to knock it out, you can go 10.
- 35:39Speaker 1: College game day in Salt Lake City, Utah this week.
- 35:42Speaker 1: That is a lock. Pat McAfee gives at least two
- 35:46Speaker 1: tries to the kick this week. Yep, I believe it.
- 35:49Speaker 1: Lock that in. Make that bet. They only needed one
- 35:52Speaker 1: this past week, right? Didn't some old boy parachute in
- 35:54Speaker 1: in a Spider-Man suit? Did I see that right? No,
- 35:56Speaker 1: he missed the first one. Oh, did he?
- 35:57Speaker 2: Yeah, he had to dial it in, but it was
- 35:59Speaker 2: for $ 3 million. Why did they go $ 3 million? Yeah,
- 36:03Speaker 2: Pat put up a million.
- 36:05Speaker 1: The guy that owns the mammoth, and the Jazz was
- 36:10Speaker 1: back there behind him. And before he kicked it, he
- 36:14Speaker 1: was like, hey, so-and-so owns the Jazz and the Mammoth
- 36:17Speaker 1: back there. I tell you what, he's good for a million, too.
- 36:19Speaker 1: And the guy's like, putting him on the spot. He's like, okay,
- 36:22Speaker 1: pocket change. And then the guy drug in. They threw
- 36:26Speaker 1: a mic over to him, and he drug in his buddy,
- 36:28Speaker 1: who is part owner of the Jazz and owns something else.
- 36:32Speaker 1: And they said, he's good for a million to charity.
- 36:34Speaker 1: So it was $ 2 million to a kid and $ 1
- 36:36Speaker 1: million to Charity. Dang. And they gave him a second kick,
- 36:39Speaker 1: and he Spider-Manned that thing right down the middle. So
- 36:43Speaker 1: he got $ 2 million, and Charity got $ 1 million. Well,
- 36:45Speaker 1: I felt bad for the poor kid from Talladega, the
- 36:49Speaker 1: Coleman Coliseum one. Because he was cocky. Yeah, I mean.
- 36:52Speaker 1: They brought him back up this week because the Spider-Man
- 36:54Speaker 1: kid was like, I don't know if I can do
- 36:56Speaker 1: it or not, but I'm going to give it a try.
- 36:57Speaker 1: I've been practicing really hard, da-da-da-da-da.
- 36:59Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 37:01Speaker 7: The Curb Series is like, hmm, a lot more humble
- 37:03Speaker 7: than the guy we had last week. I didn't see
- 37:05Speaker 7: the one at Coleman.
- 37:06Speaker 1: Oh, Lance, you're a high school kicker at Talladega, and
- 37:09Speaker 1: his buddy wins and lets him in. And McAfee's like, oh,
- 37:12Speaker 1: of course you pick a high school kicker. So they
- 37:13Speaker 1: bring out, like, these blocking dummies. Boy pounds both of them,
- 37:17Speaker 1: but they're both right. Missed them both.
- 37:19Speaker 7: Because he was trying to hook it around the blocking dummy. But,
- 37:21Speaker 7: I mean, was he talking shit? I mean, he was
- 37:23Speaker 7: pretty confident in it, yeah.
- 37:25Speaker 1: You think he'd had a couple of cocktails? I don't know.
- 37:27Speaker 1: It was pretty early. Seemed like a nice kid. Probably
- 37:29Speaker 1: had no sleep. But yeah, his buddy who won the
- 37:32Speaker 1: drawing was like, I'm going to let this guy kick.
- 37:35Speaker 1: And Pat's like, you're not going to ask if he
- 37:37Speaker 1: can kick? He's a high school kicker. So that's good.
- 37:40Speaker 1: That's our righteous gemstone locks of the week. Nine of them.
- 37:44Speaker 1: Nine of them. And hopefully I hit all nine this week.
- 37:47Speaker 1: A lot of totals this week. I noticed. Yeah. And
- 37:50Speaker 1: you were over a lot of them, weren't you? Over some,
- 37:53Speaker 1: under some. I had some unders. That's very charismatic church.
- 37:59Speaker 1: I love that. Oh, yeah? You know, my uncle, I
- 38:01Speaker 1: had one uncle. My uncle Danny was a Assembly of
- 38:06Speaker 1: God pastor. Yeah. And my uncle Ben was a Congregational
- 38:10Speaker 1: Holiness pastor.
- 38:11Speaker 2: It was a Pentecostal church up the street when I
- 38:14Speaker 2: lived in the trailer. And I went there a couple
- 38:17Speaker 2: of times as like an 11 or 12-year-old.
- 38:20Speaker 1: Yeah. And didn't have air conditioning.
- 38:22Speaker 2: So they did have the white hankies, people wiping sweat
- 38:25Speaker 2: off their face in the summertime.
- 38:26Speaker 1: Right, right. Yeah, so Congregational Holiness and Assembly of God,
- 38:29Speaker 1: they get after it, boss. I mean, they're active.
- 38:33Speaker 2: I've got an injury right now, the same injury I
- 38:35Speaker 2: had my senior year playing baseball in center field. I
- 38:38Speaker 2: somehow have a pinched nerve in my neck, and when
- 38:41Speaker 2: you turn exactly.
- 38:42Speaker 1: The right way. What's it do to you? It sort
- 38:44Speaker 1: of not only catches, but it shoots a pain down
- 38:47Speaker 1: your spine. A good eight-hour flight is going to help that.
- 38:49Speaker 1: Did you have your milk out of the fridge? What happened?
- 38:52Speaker 1: I played golf yesterday, first time in a couple weeks.
- 38:55Speaker 1: You think I did it?
- 38:56Speaker 2: I don't know, but maybe I fell asleep in the
- 38:59Speaker 2: beanbag the other night too. Slept there for like three hours.
- 39:02Speaker 2: That can't be good for you.
- 39:03Speaker 1: Probably not. Probably not. Again, eight-hour flight, that'll fix that
- 39:06Speaker 1: neck right up. It's going to be perfect.
- 39:08Speaker 2: All right, that's our Righteous Gemstone locks for the week.
- 39:10Speaker 2: When we come back, LT and Brownie talk to us
- 39:14Speaker 2: about realistic chaos scenarios coming up this weekend. And also,
- 39:18Speaker 2: is there a possibility that the Big Ten may have
- 39:22Speaker 2: signed their own death warrant?
- 39:24Speaker 6: What?
- 39:25Speaker 1: Could the Big Ten go away? Maybe.
- 39:28Speaker 2: We'll talk about that next right here. on the Hard
- 39:31Speaker 2: Rock Bet Sports State Show called Next Round.
- 39:35Speaker 1: This year, the.
- 39:36Speaker 3: Biggest sports book parties getting even bigger.
- 39:38Speaker 1: Hey, there's Jay Boyd.
- 39:39Speaker 3: Whether you just getting here or you been here, you're
- 39:42Speaker 3: not leaving here empty-handed.
- 39:45Speaker 6: Hey, Jay.
- 39:46Speaker 1: Jimmy Johnson. Kevin, they know me.
- 39:49Speaker 3: Of course, in this party, everybody's somebody. This season, Hard
- 39:53Speaker 3: Rock Bet has something for everyone.
- 39:55Speaker 4: Plus, new customers bet $ 5 and get up to $ 500
- 39:57Speaker 4: in no-sweat bets.
- 39:59Speaker 1: Hey, that's Fat Joe. Forget him. That's Jay Boyd. Hey,
- 40:01Speaker 1: Jay Boyd.
- 40:02Speaker 8: My name's Jay Boyd.
- 40:03Speaker 1: I got that. I got that. Back with you on
- 40:06Speaker 1: the next round presented by Hard Rock Bet on Sporting State.
- 40:10Speaker 1: LTD & B here with you as we do show
- 40:12Speaker 1: number 1,309 today. Something to keep in mind as Kentucky
- 40:19Speaker 1: has to play host to Vanderbilt this weekend. Everyone's watching
- 40:23Speaker 1: Kentucky these days. And I will tell you this, as
- 40:26Speaker 1: you watch Kentucky this weekend, you're going to watch them
- 40:30Speaker 1: have a horrible, horrible uniform game this week. Forster, do
- 40:35Speaker 1: you have the Kentucky uniforms? No, no.
- 40:36Speaker 2: Look what the Cats are wearing this weekend. They're in
- 40:40Speaker 2: gray with blue. after unveiling a couple of good uniforms.
- 40:44Speaker 7: Am I wrong?
- 40:45Speaker 1: Is that not just a butt-ugly uniform? It's terrible.
- 40:48Speaker 7: But, you know, it's not as bad as when they
- 40:50Speaker 7: have the chrome involved with it. Just go back to
- 40:53Speaker 7: the old white and blue. You don't need checkerboard.
- 40:56Speaker 1: The Power K they wore the other one is awesome.
- 40:58Speaker 1: I thought it was awesome. You know what this reminds
- 41:01Speaker 1: me of is the terrible hat Mark Stoops used to
- 41:04Speaker 1: wear on the sidelines. It looked like he was on
- 41:07Speaker 1: his way to Commonwealth Stadium or Kroger Field, whatever they
- 41:10Speaker 1: call it now, and was like, oh, I forgot my hat.
- 41:13Speaker 1: So he dived into the Flying J and he bought
- 41:15Speaker 1: a hat. It was an awful hat. And he wore
- 41:18Speaker 1: it every game. Like every single year. He cut grass
- 41:21Speaker 1: in it too. Every single game he wore it. And
- 41:23Speaker 1: that's what that uniform reminds me of. Well, the gray
- 41:25Speaker 1: uniforms came out in the Stoops era. So maybe they
- 41:27Speaker 1: should bury him. I guess he, yeah, I guess he
- 41:29Speaker 1: likes that gray and blue. I don't know why. These
- 41:32Speaker 1: look like a high school alternate. High school?
- 41:35Speaker 7: Yeah. I thought the uniform was, and I know it's
- 41:37Speaker 7: a little bit different. I guess it's, you can get
- 41:39Speaker 7: it at the bookstore and anywhere else, but I thought
- 41:41Speaker 7: it was like, what fans want to buy.
- 41:44Speaker 1: Like, it's all about selling merchandise.
- 41:45Speaker 2: Yeah, of all the Kentucky gear, I wouldn't buy the
- 41:48Speaker 2: gray one, would you? Yeah, that's a bad look this weekend.
- 41:51Speaker 2: And I didn't give it to Forrester, but Georgia Tech's
- 41:53Speaker 2: got a different helmet this weekend. It's a historical helmet.
- 41:57Speaker 2: I never knew Georgia Tech had a Power T.
- 42:00Speaker 1: Nor did I. But they are bringing their Power T
- 42:03Speaker 1: helmet back this week, as you see the Stoops gray hat.
- 42:05Speaker 1: There's the Stoops hat.
- 42:06Speaker 2: I mean, that was just a bad hat, and he
- 42:08Speaker 2: wore it every single game, and I never understood why.
- 42:10Speaker 2: So Georgia Tech's got their silver helmets with a white
- 42:13Speaker 2: power T on it that has Tech in it, written
- 42:16Speaker 2: in it and stuff. I mean, it looks like it's
- 42:18Speaker 2: from the– it's the gold one right there is the
- 42:21Speaker 2: one they're wearing. The white one actually looks better.
- 42:25Speaker 1: Than the gold one. So it's the far left gold
- 42:27Speaker 1: one right there? The far left right there, yeah. So
- 42:29Speaker 1: the helmet is gold with a white power T. Ooh,
- 42:31Speaker 1: and it says Georgia and then Tech. Yeah. Yeah, I
- 42:33Speaker 1: don't like that. That's the way– Logos used to be. Right, right.
- 42:36Speaker 2: Bringing that back this weekend. It looks like Notre Dame's helmet, basically.
- 42:39Speaker 2: Georgia Tech must have been expecting a really good year
- 42:41Speaker 2: this year because they had a.
- 42:42Speaker 1: Lot of uniform. Not that the logos are expensive. They
- 42:45Speaker 1: made a helmet for their opponent, too.
- 42:47Speaker 7: But aren't you trying to save money for NIL?
- 42:49Speaker 1: Yeah. I stepped on your line there. What did you say, Tyler?
- 42:53Speaker 5: I said they made a helmet for their opponent, too.
- 42:57Speaker 1: That was the way Jim set that off was the problem.
- 42:59Speaker 1: I misdid that. All right.
- 43:01Speaker 2: The show being brought to you by XXXY. And then
- 43:05Speaker 2: we will talk about the potential of the Big Ten
- 43:10Speaker 2: signing their own death warrant here. I've got a take
- 43:12Speaker 2: on this here.
- 43:13Speaker 1: Jennifer Say, she was national champion gymnast, brand manager for Levi's.
- 43:17Speaker 1: And rather than say something she did not believe in,
- 43:20Speaker 1: she walked away from that job, started her own clothing line.
- 43:23Speaker 1: And that's why we have XXXY Athletics today. The mission,
- 43:27Speaker 1: in their words, empower female athletes and take a stand
- 43:30Speaker 1: for fair competition. It is the tee that launched a movement.
- 43:33Speaker 1: Real athletic apparel, not just a slogan on a shirt.
- 43:36Speaker 1: Performance tops, tanks, sports bras, leggings, shorts, training sets, hoodies, hats,
- 43:40Speaker 1: graphic tees. Men's and women's clothing worn by athletes who
- 43:43Speaker 1: have actually put something on the line. And new customers
- 43:46Speaker 1: get 20% off your first order when you sign up.
- 43:48Speaker 1: Free shipping over $ 100 at xxxyathletics.com. That is xx-xyathletics.com. Also,
- 43:56Speaker 1: see the official Nashville Balls gear, Clay Travis' future WNBA franchise,
- 44:00Speaker 1: right there with tees and trucker hats at xxxyathletics. That's xx-xyathletics.com.
- 44:08Speaker 2: Dan Wetzel, friend of the show, wrote this after the
- 44:11Speaker 2: 24-team playoff story broke last week. And he actually wrote
- 44:16Speaker 2: this over the weekend after giving it some more thought.
- 44:20Speaker 2: And I think we all agree with this. First, the
- 44:23Speaker 2: news came out that ESPN is only paying like $ 340
- 44:27Speaker 2: million more for these extra playoff games for the next
- 44:30Speaker 2: five years. And they're getting $ 205 million of that back
- 44:35Speaker 2: because the conferences are having to pay ESPN back for
- 44:39Speaker 2: losing the conference championship game. So basically it's $ 140 million
- 44:43Speaker 2: is all the extra money we're going to get for
- 44:45Speaker 2: these extra games for five years.
- 44:46Speaker 7: And so how many games will that totally be?
- 44:48Speaker 1: Do you have any idea? I'm just wondering what it is.
- 44:51Speaker 1: It's eight more games. And per year. Yeah, eight more
- 44:54Speaker 1: games per year. For $ 140 million a year, basically. I mean,
- 44:56Speaker 1: it's actually a pretty good deal for ESPN. Oh, it's
- 44:58Speaker 1: a great deal for ESPN. And they'll sell some of
- 45:00Speaker 1: that off. And so Wetzel starts off by saying, I mean,
- 45:04Speaker 1: who was begging for this? It surely wasn't ESPN and
- 45:07Speaker 1: the TV partner because they're barely going to pay anything.
- 45:11Speaker 1: But he goes on to make a lot of points.
- 45:13Speaker 1: But one of them that he made that I thought
- 45:15Speaker 1: was very interesting is that Notre Dame now has the
- 45:19Speaker 1: best situation in all of football almost 100% guaranteed to
- 45:24Speaker 1: make the playoffs, freedom to schedule as it wishes, plus
- 45:28Speaker 1: they get to maximize their own media rights because they
- 45:32Speaker 1: have their own TV deal. They get some money from
- 45:35Speaker 1: the ACC by playing them for four games a year,
- 45:38Speaker 1: so they get some of the ACC media rights. They
- 45:41Speaker 1: create their own schedule, and they're virtually 100% locked to
- 45:46Speaker 1: be in the playoffs every year because they're just going
- 45:49Speaker 1: to have to be in the top 24 to be there.
- 45:51Speaker 7: And all they've got to do is have this schedule
- 45:52Speaker 7: every year.
- 45:53Speaker 1: I mean, they could make themselves a lot just by
- 45:55Speaker 1: playing this schedule. That's exactly right. That's the same run
- 45:57Speaker 1: they're playing right now.
- 45:58Speaker 7: Now, sooner or later, some of these teams are going
- 45:59Speaker 7: to end up being good or sneaky good, like a UCLA.
- 46:02Speaker 1: You just never know. Yeah, but 8-4 for Notre Dame,
- 46:05Speaker 1: there is really, with the way they control their schedule,
- 46:07Speaker 1: there's no excuse.
- 46:09Speaker 2: So Wetzel asked this question, and I want to bounce
- 46:11Speaker 2: it off of you guys. Let's use the Big Ten
- 46:15Speaker 2: as an example. Ohio State and Michigan. Why not go independent?
- 46:21Speaker 2: If you go independent, you can increase your media revenue
- 46:25Speaker 2: by two to three times on your cut you're getting
- 46:27Speaker 2: from the Big Ten. Like, you could almost triple your
- 46:30Speaker 2: money in your media rights. Ohio State gets with a network, CBS, NBC,
- 46:35Speaker 2: whoever they would go with, Prime, streaming, someone like that, Amazon.
- 46:41Speaker 2: And they would triple their money taken. Or Michigan could
- 46:44Speaker 2: do this.
- 46:44Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, why would you not do it at
- 46:46Speaker 1: that point? Right.
- 46:47Speaker 7: Conference affiliation, it's great on the surface, but there's no
- 46:51Speaker 7: loyalty in today's college football.
- 46:52Speaker 2: And that's what he says. He says, staying in the
- 46:54Speaker 2: Big Ten now makes little and perhaps no economic sense
- 46:58Speaker 2: for the brands Ohio State and Michigan. Basically, you have
- 47:02Speaker 2: carried the Big Ten to this point, and Wetzel making
- 47:06Speaker 2: the point that all these teams that are 8-4 type
- 47:10Speaker 2: teams wanting access to the playoffs, all the Purdue's in
- 47:14Speaker 2: the Illinois of the world or mid tier SEC programs.
- 47:18Speaker 2: All you've done now is given the blue bloods of
- 47:21Speaker 2: blue bloods, a reason not to be in a conference
- 47:24Speaker 2: because they could triple their media rights, doing it individually
- 47:29Speaker 2: and not being in the conference anymore, which in the
- 47:30Speaker 2: longterm is going to hurt you because your conference value
- 47:34Speaker 2: is going to go down.
- 47:34Speaker 7: Well, I mean, look, it's, it's kind of what Texas
- 47:37Speaker 7: and Oklahoma did back in 2022, uh, Is.
- 47:40Speaker 1: That the right year? Right.
- 47:41Speaker 7: Or 2021 was the announcement. They went to a conference,
- 47:45Speaker 7: but the reason they left was to make more money.
- 47:47Speaker 7: And financially, how much better shape do you think Oklahoma
- 47:49Speaker 7: and Texas are in?
- 47:50Speaker 1: Yeah, much better. Here's what I would do if I'm
- 47:53Speaker 1: the Big Ten. If this is a legitimate concern for them,
- 47:56Speaker 1: and I assume, I guess you guys think this is
- 47:58Speaker 1: a legitimate concern. I mean, I respect the heck out
- 48:00Speaker 1: of Dan. He lives in Michigan. So he's probably not
- 48:03Speaker 1: writing this just off the cuff, right? He's probably heard
- 48:07Speaker 1: rumblings of this from Michigan. Here's what I do if
- 48:12Speaker 1: I'm Tony Petitti. I go to Greg Sankey and I
- 48:13Speaker 1: was like, you know Texas is going to do this next, right?
- 48:16Speaker 1: If Ohio State and Michigan choose to do this, you
- 48:18Speaker 1: know Texas is going to want to do it. Let's
- 48:19Speaker 1: team up here. Here's our agreement. We agree that if
- 48:23Speaker 1: a team leaves one of our conferences, we do not
- 48:26Speaker 1: schedule them. That's our agreement among our schools. So Big
- 48:29Speaker 1: Ten will not schedule Texas if they leave the SECE.
- 48:32Speaker 1: And we will also not schedule Ohio State and Michigan.
- 48:34Speaker 1: And SEC, you commit to do it as well. You
- 48:35Speaker 1: get locked out quick. Boy, you get locked out in
- 48:37Speaker 1: a hurry. I mean, that's a ton of teams you
- 48:39Speaker 1: cannot schedule. It's going to be hard to build a schedule.
- 48:41Speaker 2: I can play all the Big 12 and all the ACC,
- 48:43Speaker 2: and I'll still make the top 24. It's going to
- 48:45Speaker 2: be hard to build a schedule.
- 48:47Speaker 1: It would be harder to build a schedule.
- 48:48Speaker 7: When you're talking about knocking out roughly 30% if you're
- 48:53Speaker 7: talking about the big conferences.
- 48:54Speaker 1: Because when you're needing to play the Big 12 and
- 48:56Speaker 1: the ACC, who are they playing? They're playing each other.
- 48:59Speaker 1: They don't have room for you on their schedule. I mean,
- 49:01Speaker 1: if you're Ohio State and Michigan, how are you going
- 49:02Speaker 1: to be able to schedule if the Big Ten and
- 49:04Speaker 1: the SEC are like, we ain't playing that game, man.
- 49:05Speaker 1: I mean, you're not going to play our teams.
- 49:07Speaker 2: Wetzel thinks that what you may see before it's all
- 49:11Speaker 2: said and done is that the bigger brands in the
- 49:14Speaker 2: Big Ten, he doesn't mention the SEC, like Ohio State,
- 49:18Speaker 2: will ask for a bigger contract. than everyone else is
- 49:22Speaker 2: going to get. Now, that may happen. I don't doubt
- 49:25Speaker 2: that that's going to happen. We have always been against
- 49:27Speaker 2: that in the SEC. I don't know if that will
- 49:29Speaker 2: ever change. My heart of heart hopes that never changes.
- 49:32Speaker 2: I've always liked that.
- 49:33Speaker 1: Vandy gets the same amount as everybody else.
- 49:35Speaker 2: We were even 10, even 12, even 16 split, even 14,
- 49:37Speaker 2: even 16 split. I've always liked that about the league.
- 49:42Speaker 2: And I always think it makes the league stronger that
- 49:44Speaker 2: we split it evenly. But you could see in the
- 49:47Speaker 2: Big Ten, and I guess there would be some brands
- 49:50Speaker 2: in the SEC who can make a case that says, hey,
- 49:52Speaker 2: we deserve more. Alabama was the most watched team in
- 49:56Speaker 2: college football last year.
- 49:58Speaker 7: Well, it never made sense. This year it's going to
- 49:59Speaker 7: be Ohio State. Did you just bring up the Spurrier
- 50:02Speaker 7: comments years ago?
- 50:03Speaker 1: I have not yet.
- 50:04Speaker 7: Well, no, but Spurrier talked about we're Florida and Vanderbilt
- 50:07Speaker 7: gets as much as we do.
- 50:08Speaker 1: And Texas and Oklahoma.
- 50:09Speaker 7: Control their rev share with the other Big 12 teams.
- 50:14Speaker 7: I mean, it's not all about equality. It doesn't work
- 50:17Speaker 7: like that.
- 50:17Speaker 1: It doesn't. It doesn't. But, you know, the ACC was...
- 50:22Speaker 1: The way they managed this was like, OK, if you
- 50:26Speaker 1: get good TV ratings, you get more money. And that's
- 50:29Speaker 1: what they have done. Now, Clemson has gotten bad at
- 50:32Speaker 1: a bad time because Clemson was the one that was
- 50:34Speaker 1: set to benefit from that. And their football product has
- 50:37Speaker 1: gone downhill.
- 50:37Speaker 2: Before you show us this week's TV ratings, Forrester, the
- 50:41Speaker 2: most watched games now, the top five in the see
- 50:45Speaker 2: if there's a scenario here that pops out to you.
- 50:48Speaker 2: Top five most watched games this year. Ohio State, Texas,
- 50:53Speaker 2: 13.99 million. Georgia, Alabama, 12.24 million. LSU, Ole Miss, 10.9 million.
- 51:00Speaker 2: Ohio State, Indiana, 10.3 million. Texas and Oklahoma, 9.82 million.
- 51:06Speaker 2: Ohio State's now on there twice. And so Texas is
- 51:11Speaker 2: on there twice. So those are the most watched teams
- 51:13Speaker 2: to date so far. Ohio State's slightly ahead. Alabama was
- 51:16Speaker 2: that team last week. Here's the ratings from this past weekend.
- 51:20Speaker 2: where Ohio State and Indiana led the way. Everyone seems
- 51:24Speaker 2: to be surprised by Notre Dame and BYU's number not
- 51:28Speaker 2: reaching 10 million this week. Just under 10 million at 9.24.
- 51:33Speaker 1: Notre Dame carries a huge number, obviously.
- 51:35Speaker 7: When you have a marquee game finally, you would think
- 51:38Speaker 7: that every marginal Notre Dame fan would show up for that.
- 51:41Speaker 1: Notre Dame losing football games is normally highly rated television.
- 51:45Speaker 1: And not only did they lose it, but they lost
- 51:47Speaker 1: it on the final play. I mean, it went down
- 51:48Speaker 1: to the final play.
- 51:50Speaker 2: It's prime time, and then you had Ohio State and Indiana.
- 51:54Speaker 1: And really the only thing going against it of note
- 51:56Speaker 1: was Florida State-Miami, which was a very good game.
- 51:59Speaker 2: Which, by the way, if you're ABC-ESPN, you take those
- 52:03Speaker 2: two numbers, put them together, and you beat the, you know,
- 52:06Speaker 2: Lance wouldn't understand this, you beat that advertising-wise if you
- 52:09Speaker 2: got the same sponsors on Notre Dame-BYU and Florida State-Miami.
- 52:14Speaker 2: More people watch your two shows than watch their one show.
- 52:17Speaker 1: Right, right, right.
- 52:18Speaker 2: So in advertising, you gave your advertisers more bang for
- 52:22Speaker 2: their buck. But that 11 o'clock window, 12 o'clock Eastern,
- 52:26Speaker 2: 11 right there is number one again. And that's why
- 52:29Speaker 2: Fox never wavers from that, though they get some crappier
- 52:33Speaker 2: games doing it. They have stuck with that, and it
- 52:35Speaker 2: delivers a big number. I was surprised a little bit
- 52:38Speaker 2: that Auburn, Georgia was that low. at number seven number
- 52:41Speaker 2: one going down.
- 52:42Speaker 1: Number one getting upset again that's another great tv uh
- 52:48Speaker 1: uh a great formula for good tv ratings now it
- 52:51Speaker 1: was in a crowded window because you had alabama tennessee
- 52:53Speaker 1: and look how many it had eight million but i
- 52:56Speaker 1: mean georgia auburn or auburn georgia was a much better
- 52:59Speaker 1: game than than alabama tennessee alabama tennessee was a hard
- 53:01Speaker 1: game to watch Unless you were just watching to see
- 53:04Speaker 1: Alabama play bad football, which a lot of people do.
- 53:06Speaker 1: And they did, by the way. Alabama did play bad football.
- 53:09Speaker 1: They lived up to it for everybody watching. They gave
- 53:11Speaker 1: you what you tuned in for.
- 53:13Speaker 2: And Ole Miss beating the Brakes off Missouri at the
- 53:15Speaker 2: same time in that 2-30 window.
- 53:17Speaker 1: Doesn't make the top ten. That was an invisible game. Yeah.
- 53:21Speaker 1: I mean, we had it on one of our TVs
- 53:22Speaker 1: up there in the mountains. Barely paid attention.
- 53:24Speaker 7: We ended up changing to Duke, North Carolina.
- 53:26Speaker 1: We did. Yeah, Duke, North Carolina was a better game.
- 53:29Speaker 1: Also not pictured.
- 53:30Speaker 2: The most watched week seven games for you last week,
- 53:33Speaker 2: and a lot of people were surprised Notre Dame-BYU wasn't
- 53:35Speaker 2: number one on that board. When we come back, we
- 53:38Speaker 2: talk about the potential of chaos again this weekend. Can
- 53:41Speaker 2: you go back-to-back weeks of chaos? The schedule says no,
- 53:44Speaker 2: but LT and Brownie will tell us some games that
- 53:46Speaker 2: could create some more playoff controversy when we come back
- 53:50Speaker 2: on the next round presented by Hard Rock Bet here
- 53:52Speaker 2: on Sporting State.
- 53:55Speaker 8: You're sitting in my seat.
- 53:57Speaker 1: Hey, Jimmy, we gave you a seat to my new buddy.
- 53:59Speaker 3: What's your name?
- 54:00Speaker 1: Bill. My new buddy, Bill.
- 54:02Speaker 3: Bill here bet $ 5, and won $ 3, 300 on hard luck bet.
- 54:06Speaker 1: It's Bill's seat now, Jimmy. Maybe I'll come back later.
- 54:12Speaker 1: If you do, bring him water, Jim. And a hot dog.
- 54:15Speaker 1: You want a hot dog? Yeah, I'll take a hot dog.
- 54:17Speaker 1: Bill wants a hot dog. Hot dog for Bill. Millions
- 54:20Speaker 1: of winners and counting. Don't forget the relish.
- 54:24Speaker 2: Doing Jimmy wrong there. They were defending Jimmy last commercial break.
- 54:27Speaker 2: Now they got him bringing hot dogs back. Back in
- 54:30Speaker 2: the next round, Hard Rock Bet, Sporting State here with you.
- 54:33Speaker 2: Our number two of our show today, Jim Dunaway, Lance Taylor,
- 54:36Speaker 2: Ryan Brown. When we start talking about the college football
- 54:40Speaker 2: playoff race for 12 teams, we ran through a scenario
- 54:45Speaker 2: yesterday on our second half of the show about where
- 54:48Speaker 2: the SEC all ends up. And just to reflect on
- 54:51Speaker 2: We had Georgia at 11-1 projecting out the rest of
- 54:54Speaker 2: the season. Ole Miss 10-2. We had Alabama, LSU, Tennessee, Kentucky,
- 55:00Speaker 2: and Missouri all at 9-3. I had Florida 8-4.
- 55:04Speaker 1: Is that what we said? Yeah, that's what we settled on.
- 55:06Speaker 2: Florida 8-4, Texas 8-4, which would be surprising. Auburn 7-5,
- 55:11Speaker 2: Oklahoma 7-5, Mississippi State 7-5, South Carolina 6-6, and then
- 55:17Speaker 2: A & M, Vandy, and Arkansas all missing a bowl game,
- 55:20Speaker 2: not having a winning record. here is Pete Golding on
- 55:25Speaker 2: the potential of Ole Miss beating Texas this weekend and
- 55:29Speaker 2: where Arch Manning plays into the scheme for the one-time
- 55:32Speaker 2: defensive coordinator now head coach of the Ole Miss Rebels.
- 55:36Speaker 6: Obviously elite arm talent has been in the system a
- 55:39Speaker 6: long time I think some people have shown them some
- 55:42Speaker 6: different looks and taken away some first reads and been
- 55:44Speaker 6: able to apply some pressure and all that but The
- 55:47Speaker 6: conception of that he's not an elite player right now
- 55:49Speaker 6: is crazy to me. You can go watch up and
- 55:51Speaker 6: I'll get you a 25 play cut up and he
- 55:53Speaker 6: should be the top pick in the draft. And then
- 55:55Speaker 6: there's other things that up to this point he'd probably
- 55:57Speaker 6: like to have back too. So we know what we're
- 55:59Speaker 6: going up against. I know the perception of what it
- 56:02Speaker 6: is right there, right now, but I still think it's
- 56:04Speaker 6: an elite offense. I think Sark's one of the best
- 56:06Speaker 6: play callers in the country. And we got to be
- 56:09Speaker 6: ready to play because he's got all the arm talent
- 56:10Speaker 6: in the world. He's a size speed guy. He's much
- 56:13Speaker 6: more athletic than you think, still has the ability to
- 56:15Speaker 6: extend plays. And the guys won at a high level,
- 56:18Speaker 6: you know, and talking about playoff team before, you know,
- 56:20Speaker 6: two years ago. So they're used to it. They know
- 56:23Speaker 6: there's high expectations. They know their back's up against the
- 56:25Speaker 6: wall and we're going to get their best shot.
- 56:27Speaker 2: So Ole Miss and Texas, give me your thoughts on
- 56:30Speaker 2: that game first. And then we'll bounce through the schedule
- 56:33Speaker 2: for week eight and maybe throw some potential chaos into
- 56:38Speaker 2: the week.
- 56:38Speaker 7: Well, look, Ole Miss's defense, they are 117th and third
- 56:43Speaker 7: down conversion. So they let teams stay on the field.
- 56:46Speaker 7: but they're coming off their best performance. I mean, that
- 56:48Speaker 7: Missouri offense was clicking. And to hold them to three
- 56:52Speaker 7: points and Jamal Roberts to only go 39 yards on
- 56:55Speaker 7: 20 carries, I do think Ole Miss is coming into
- 56:58Speaker 7: this game with a lot of confidence. With that said,
- 57:01Speaker 7: I mean, Arch hasn't been awful. The problem is we
- 57:03Speaker 7: put Arch on this pedestal, and then last year he
- 57:07Speaker 7: got kind of dogged out going into the middle of October,
- 57:09Speaker 7: and then he brought it out. And with that momentum
- 57:11Speaker 7: coming into the year, we thought we were going to
- 57:12Speaker 7: see an elite quarterback, and you just haven't seen it. Like,
- 57:15Speaker 7: all the parts aren't working right now. So I think
- 57:17Speaker 7: he's hyping up Arch a little bit too much there.
- 57:20Speaker 7: With all that said, I mean, Texas should be able
- 57:23Speaker 7: to have success against this defense, but they only scored
- 57:26Speaker 7: 24 points against Florida.
- 57:27Speaker 1: Yeah, we felt the same thing against the Florida. defense,
- 57:30Speaker 1: and they just weren't able to do that. And Florida
- 57:32Speaker 1: had been giving up a lot of points as well, right? Yeah. Texas,
- 57:35Speaker 1: I mean, Ole Miss is, like Lance said, dead last
- 57:37Speaker 1: against the run, but Texas is 13th in the conference
- 57:40Speaker 1: running the football, so that's not exactly a strength of
- 57:42Speaker 1: Texas going up against a weakness of Ole Miss. It's
- 57:46Speaker 1: kind of where they're both a little bit weak, so
- 57:48Speaker 1: I just don't know how much they can take advantage
- 57:49Speaker 1: of that.
- 57:49Speaker 7: And Texas, you know, good at getting after the quarterback.
- 57:52Speaker 7: The problem, and you brought this up yesterday, Brown, is
- 57:54Speaker 7: Ole Miss, the offensive line has only allowed five sacks
- 57:57Speaker 7: in six games.
- 57:58Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 57:58Speaker 7: And a lot of that is Trinidad, too, but they've
- 58:00Speaker 7: done a good job of protecting up front.
- 58:02Speaker 1: And no Colin Simmons this week for Texas. He's out already.
- 58:05Speaker 1: That is a massive injury in terms of rushing the quarterback. Well,
- 58:08Speaker 1: they've got 19 sacks. Ten and a half for Colin Simmons. Oh, wow.
- 58:11Speaker 1: More than half. So he walks out the door with half.
- 58:14Speaker 2: Outcome of this game, is there any outcome Ole Miss-Texas
- 58:17Speaker 2: that throws it into the college ball playoffs into any chaos?
- 58:20Speaker 2: I guess a Texas loss.
- 58:22Speaker 1: Well, a Texas loss and they're out, an Ole Miss loss,
- 58:24Speaker 1: and they are back against the wall. I really think
- 58:27Speaker 1: either outcome has a huge impact.
- 58:29Speaker 7: Yeah, because now it goes back to the bottleneck the
- 58:31Speaker 7: SEC could become. We talked about all these three-loss teams.
- 58:34Speaker 7: So if Texas wins this game, at that point, you know,
- 58:39Speaker 7: Let's just say that, who does Kentucky have this week?
- 58:42Speaker 1: They've got Vanderbilt. Yeah, well, that's probably not going to happen.
- 58:45Speaker 1: Same time, 6.30.
- 58:45Speaker 7: Let's just say that this Tennessee plays out like we
- 58:48Speaker 7: think it is. Tennessee and Ole Miss take the loss.
- 58:50Speaker 7: The only teams at that point with only one loss
- 58:53Speaker 7: would be Georgia and Kentucky.
- 58:57Speaker 1: That's kind of crazy when you think about it. You
- 58:59Speaker 1: were talking chaos. I think I've got three. Well, I'm
- 59:03Speaker 1: working on three in each window, Jim. Okay.
- 59:05Speaker 2: Let me bounce around and tell me if this falls in.
- 59:07Speaker 2: Let's start the early window.
- 59:09Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 59:09Speaker 1: Um, Nobody's giving Pitt a chance at Miami. Well, they're
- 59:13Speaker 1: a three-touchdown underdog, and I know Auburn was last week
- 59:16Speaker 1: as well, and we've had multiple three-touchdown underdogs win outright
- 59:20Speaker 1: this year, so you cannot completely discount it. But, boy,
- 59:22Speaker 1: with a backup quarterback, it is hard to see. Here's
- 59:26Speaker 1: the case I would make, Lance. Yeah, if Mason Heintzel
- 59:28Speaker 1: was still playing.
- 59:28Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 59:29Speaker 7: Because I have not been a fan of this Miami
- 59:31Speaker 7: defense all year, and it really showed last week against
- 59:33Speaker 7: Florida State.
- 59:34Speaker 1: Here's the case I would make. God, that was a
- 59:35Speaker 1: lot of points Florida State put up.
- 59:37Speaker 7: I mean, they put up 35 points. Most Miami's given
- 59:40Speaker 7: up all year. Most yards, 443. Yards per play, almost
- 59:44Speaker 7: seven yards per play last week for Florida State.
- 59:45Speaker 1: Yeah, I saw our guy, Brooks Alston, the film guy,
- 59:49Speaker 1: who's supposed to be on with us tomorrow, but he
- 59:50Speaker 1: just texted me that he's got a scheduling conflict, so
- 59:52Speaker 1: we're going to work through that. But Brooks Alston, the
- 59:54Speaker 1: film guy, did a breakdown on that Miami defense. And
- 59:57Speaker 1: he's like, it ain't a fluke. This is some concerning stuff.
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: So you can go to his YouTube channel, film guy
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: network and look at that. Here's my case. Miami coming
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: off emotional, uh, double overtime win over Florida state, 11
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: AM dead crowd, flat Miami, maybe an empty crowd. Maybe
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: nobody there. 11 AM at hard rock. That is not
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: a recipe for a good crowd right there. I can
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: go ahead and tell you. Um, flat Miami team coming
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: off that emotional Florida State win. That's your path. Oh, yeah.
- 1:00:25Speaker 7: And look, Narduzzi springs these every now and then. I
- 1:00:29Speaker 7: just would have said if you would have put these
- 1:00:31Speaker 7: both out there last week, Auburn going to Georgia to
- 1:00:34Speaker 7: take on the Bulldogs and Pittsburgh going to Miami, I'd
- 1:00:37Speaker 7: be like, Pitt's got a much better shot.
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: I would have gone with you on that. Great point.
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: Same point, Brett. 11 a.m. Big Noon kickoff. Indiana at Michigan.
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: What if Indiana loses? Well, this is in play, I think.
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: I mean, you can't completely discount this. Now, I would
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: prefer Michigan to be a little more solid at quarterback here, Lance,
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: and not have a guy making his first really big start.
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: Or really, I guess that's his first start, right? It's
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: his first start. Yeah, it's going to be his first
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: overall start. And having to do it against Brian Haynes
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: and that Indiana defense, that's a lot to ask.
- 1:01:07Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean, look, this is an Indiana team that
- 1:01:09Speaker 7: gives up 12.9 points per game. Michigan has the 17th
- 1:01:13Speaker 7: scoring offense out of 18 teams in the Big Ten.
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: I mean, the offense has been awful, so.
- 1:01:17Speaker 7: Back to what you said on your prop that you
- 1:01:20Speaker 7: gave out earlier. How is Michigan going to score points? Now,
- 1:01:24Speaker 7: we said this about Auburn last week.
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: So far, Auburn's the go-to on everything. Can't wait to
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: see the documentary.
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: You look at the numbers, and it's hard for you
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: to make a case on Michigan because this is a game,
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: it feels like Michigan's got to win 12-9 or 15-12
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: or something like that. I just don't see how Michigan
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: could let this game get in the 20s and have
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: any shot at winning this game. So it's going to
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: require Indiana to do something they don't normally do, which
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: is turn the ball over. The good news is they
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: started turning it over a little bit last week. I mean,
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: two fumbles when they had not fumbled in 1,400 snaps.
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: Congratulations to Auburn for creating this, but 11 a.m. on
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: ABC is a playoff elimination game. LSU and Auburn, loser
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: likely out of the playoff race.
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: Remarkable that we can say that at this point in
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: the season, but it is true. I think it's fool's gold.
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: I do too, but yeah. LSU, I'm not sure.
- 1:02:15Speaker 7: I mean, LSU can be impressive offensively and defensively at times.
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: They're not whole yet. And again, when you look at
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: their two losses, quality losses, one possession each. So that's LSU-Auburn.
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: So that really isn't going to throw any chaos. Texas Tech-Cincinnati,
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: 11 o'clock FS1. There's another one. I mean, this is
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: a losable game on the road for Texas Tech. Cincinnati
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: has been wildly inconsistent. They went to Arizona and were
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: absolutely awful. They go to West Virginia. They're better, but
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: this is at home. I mean, back at home, Texas
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: Tech having to go on the road, Lance, and it
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: has not been as easy for Texas Tech as we
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: thought it was going to be.
- 1:02:50Speaker 7: It has not been, but I would say that Texas
- 1:02:52Speaker 7: Tech finally looked like Texas Tech from last year, last week,
- 1:02:56Speaker 7: for whatever that's worth. I mean, they went out and
- 1:02:57Speaker 7: they scored, what was the total, 53 points? gave up
- 1:03:02Speaker 7: 25 to Arizona State. I mean, that looked like the
- 1:03:05Speaker 7: Texas Tech from last year.
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: Yeah, but I think if we've learned anything from this
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: season of college football, the ability for teams to put
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: those performances together week to week is really not very
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: good right now. Yeah, and I still don't trust Will Hammond. Yeah. So, again,
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: I mean, 11 o'clock, I'd rather this be a little
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: later in the day for a jazzed-up crowd. But this
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: is a losable game for Texas Tech. And now, if
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: that happens, boy, they've got an uphill battle in the
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: Big 12, the way that BYU is playing and some
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: of the rest of that Big 12 is playing. Any
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: more in the early window for you there? That was
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: it for me.
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: To the midday window, give me the confidence level that
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: you guys think, forget the point spread, 14.5, that Alabama
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: can guarantee win this game this week. Is there any
- 1:03:49Speaker 2: concern that A & M, off a bye week, not
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: a bye, but they played Charlotte, A virtual bye week,
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: a feel-good game, a slump buster game, if you will.
- 1:04:01Speaker 2: They came out and dominated that game. How do you
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: feel about Texas A & M coming to town? Can
- 1:04:06Speaker 2: they end Alabama's playoff hopes?
- 1:04:08Speaker 7: Well, I mean, it's still a really, really solid Texas
- 1:04:11Speaker 7: A & M defense. The Aggies unable to get to
- 1:04:13Speaker 7: the quarterback like they have in the past. but they're
- 1:04:15Speaker 7: still only giving up 17 points per game. And we're
- 1:04:17Speaker 7: talking about an Alabama offense that is absolutely stuck in
- 1:04:20Speaker 7: mud the last couple of weeks. Going back to halftime
- 1:04:23Speaker 7: of the Georgia game, and we've talked about this multiple times,
- 1:04:25Speaker 7: Alabama scored 13 points over the last six quarters. Now
- 1:04:29Speaker 7: you're going against this A & M defense. And if
- 1:04:32Speaker 7: you're Ryan Grubb, like, what are you– Wasn't he asked
- 1:04:35Speaker 7: the question, like, what is your identity? What is their identity?
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: Great question. And you're trying to establish that. He gave
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: an answer that I don't think matched what we see. Yeah,
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: I don't think it made sense. Yeah. Here's what I
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: would say makes this difficult for me to see a
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: path to victory for Texas A & M. And only
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: two road games. They've only played two road games A &
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: M to this point. Marcel Reed. has completed 38.5% of
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: his passes in one game, 48.7% in the other. That's terrible. 38%? 38%
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: on the road at LSU. He was 10 of 26. 38%.
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: He has thrown three... That's trying to throw it in
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: the ocean and hitting the mountain. He has thrown three
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: interceptions in two road games, has not thrown a touchdown pass,
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: and his team has only scored 12 total points in
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: those two road games. Their offense has been bad at home,
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: but infinitely worse on the road. And I cannot see
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: that changing overnight like this. One of them was Missouri.
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: Where was the other one? LSU. At LSU or at Missouri.
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: He was awful in both of them. Alabama, by the way, though.
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: Ten penalties, four turnovers, a number of sacks and pressures
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: on Keelan Russell last week at Tennessee. They'll have to
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: clean that up. I guess the point spread is still
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: South Carolina is a favorite against Tennessee, which makes no sense.
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: If it doesn't, remember Vinnie Perno used to tell us
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: if it doesn't make sense, it makes sense. It kind
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: of does make sense, though.
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: Explain that to the people who saw Tennessee beat Alabama.
- 1:05:59Speaker 2: Now South Carolina is the favorite.
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: Let's go to the NFL for this.
- 1:06:07Speaker 7: Let's just hypothetically say that the 2-4 Houston Texans were
- 1:06:12Speaker 7: hosting the 5-0 Kansas City Chiefs.
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: The Chiefs... I think it'd be close to a picket. Really?
- 1:06:20Speaker 7: Yeah, it's just become the NFL, and you've got South
- 1:06:22Speaker 7: Carolina at home that has showed flashes. They've had a
- 1:06:25Speaker 7: couple of big leads against Mississippi State and against Kentucky.
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: They blew those leads.
- 1:06:28Speaker 7: They played extremely well for four quarters against Florida, and
- 1:06:32Speaker 7: now they're at home. And do you really trust this
- 1:06:34Speaker 7: Tennessee offense on the road? They struggled in McIntyre's start
- 1:06:38Speaker 7: in Arkansas.
- 1:06:39Speaker 2: So if South Carolina wins this game, that kicks Tennessee into–
- 1:06:43Speaker 2: they have to win out to make the playoffs from
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: that point forward as well. So that could add to
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: a little chaos. Oh, there's no doubt.
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: I mean, that is one of the first ones I
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: checked on the list because all of a sudden Tennessee,
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: who everybody's got Tennessee in their playoff field right now.
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: They do. You've got to stop and reevaluate that and
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: look at the remainder of their schedule and see if
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: there's a way they can get home at 10-2. Yeah,
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: it's still 2.5. Like, it has not moved. And what
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: does that tell you as a guy who looks at
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: lines all the time?
- 1:07:09Speaker 7: I think it's probably balanced money. I think there's some
- 1:07:11Speaker 7: sharps that probably are like South Carolina. You're getting a
- 1:07:13Speaker 7: little value. You're getting under that prime number, that key
- 1:07:17Speaker 7: number of three at home with South Carolina and Tennessee
- 1:07:19Speaker 7: coming off this emotional win against Alabama. You still don't
- 1:07:23Speaker 7: trust that Tennessee offense outside of Deshaun Bishop. So I
- 1:07:26Speaker 7: think the number's right.
- 1:07:27Speaker 2: And it being South Carolina minus two and a half
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: and it not bouncing around, that is a strong– Money
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: line play for South Carolina, right? People believe South Carolina
- 1:07:37Speaker 2: is going to actually win the football game.
- 1:07:38Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean, you can lay 135 if you want
- 1:07:40Speaker 7: to stay away from the points.
- 1:07:42Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: Always kind of dangerous to me.
- 1:07:44Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: Because, I mean, what are the chances they win by
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: one or two? As soon as I say that, they do. Yeah,
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: I understand. Iowa, Minnesota, I don't know if that would
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: rock anything or shake anything up, but I think you're
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: dead on in your upset alert this week. Yeah, I mean,
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: I think Minnesota's going to win this game. I just
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: don't think people include Iowa in their college football playoff teams,
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: which we've talked at length about how messy the Big
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: Ten could be outside of the couple teams at the top,
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: and Iowa is right in that mix. I just don't
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: think people take them seriously. And I know you like
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: Minnesota in this game a little bit, too. I do.
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: I was prepared to draw the... The gopher? The bucky. Yeah.
- 1:08:20Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean, look, it's a Minnesota team, you know,
- 1:08:22Speaker 7: that had beaten Michigan, had beaten Washington. Those wins when
- 1:08:26Speaker 7: they actually happened looked a lot bigger than they do now. But,
- 1:08:29Speaker 7: I mean, they are very capable of beating an Iowa
- 1:08:32Speaker 7: offense that, you know, can sputter.
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: BYU-UCF, we didn't hit that one. I mean, that's the
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: number two team in the nation. Is that in that window?
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: It's at 230 on Fox. Yeah, it's 230 Fox window
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: at the bounce house. Tough place to play. It did
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: not even get an interesting pink thing for me. It didn't,
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: which is a mistake of mine. Yeah, I mean, this
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: is a very losable game for BYU. In fact, I
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: get the feeling you think Central Florida might win this thing.
- 1:08:56Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean, look, Central Florida is definitely going to
- 1:08:58Speaker 7: be in play. I think this could be a lot.
- 1:09:00Speaker 7: dog situation. But BYU, not only have they been so
- 1:09:02Speaker 7: solid and up for every single test, especially this past
- 1:09:07Speaker 7: weekend against Notre Dame, they're not only 6-0 and No.
- 1:09:10Speaker 7: 2 nationally, they're 6-0 against the number. So Satake's not
- 1:09:13Speaker 7: only going out and winning games, he's covering.
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: Not a good coach, a great coach. Right, right, right. Yeah.
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: I don't know if there's any chaos at night, Brownie. Well,
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: we talked about Ole Miss, Texas. USC, Wisconsin, again. We
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: kind of ignore USC. They're out there on the West Coast.
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: I don't think anybody thinks they can get to the
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: finish line on this deal, but they're still right in
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: the middle of it. Yeah, look, you're the biggest that
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: doesn't think they can get there.
- 1:09:35Speaker 7: Well, I had Wisconsin last week against UCLA, and their
- 1:09:37Speaker 7: offense didn't show up, but I could see them get
- 1:09:40Speaker 7: enough offense against this USC defense to win this game.
- 1:09:43Speaker 7: They're only catching three. I mean, right now, if I'm
- 1:09:45Speaker 7: playing this game, I'm playing Wisconsin. I'm playing the home
- 1:09:47Speaker 7: dog plus points.
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: And that would feel like a death blow for USC.
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: It would. I mean, record will tell you it's not,
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: but I'm just saying real Phil, that feels like a
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: death blow. But you know how this sets up.
- 1:09:55Speaker 7: USC goes to Madison, they lose, they come home, they
- 1:09:58Speaker 7: beat Ohio State.
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: Which might be a death blow for Ohio State at
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: that point. 9-15 Houston and Utah. It seems like a
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: must win. I know Utah is unbeaten, but it seems
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: like a must win for both teams here. Houston, definitely,
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: because I think that would be their other loss is
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: Texas Tech, so that would likely even keep them out
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: of the Big 12 championship games.
- 1:10:16Speaker 7: The thing to watch there is, look, Morgan Scali had
- 1:10:20Speaker 7: been there under Kyle Winningham. The culture is the same.
- 1:10:23Speaker 7: Devin Dampier is playing at a high level. They're beating
- 1:10:26Speaker 7: teams the way they need to outside of Colorado last week,
- 1:10:30Speaker 7: but they have yet to beat a team with a
- 1:10:31Speaker 7: winning record. I mean, their opponent's win percentage is 46%,
- 1:10:35Speaker 7: so they haven't beaten quality yet, and this is the
- 1:10:37Speaker 7: first time they will face quality Houston is red hot
- 1:10:40Speaker 7: right now, almost 40 points per game.
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: I will tell you this, and really for either team, though,
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: Houston has the one conference loss already. I mean, there's
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: a chance that game kicks and BYU and Texas Tech
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: have both lost. I mean, that is a distinct possibility
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: that you're playing for the top spot. And if you're Utah,
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: you know, you could open up two games on Houston
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: and you've got a game clear of both BYU and
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: Texas Tech at that point. Yeah.
- 1:11:03Speaker 2: Interesting times in the Big 12 where the conversation nationally
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: has turned from the possibility of five or six SEC
- 1:11:10Speaker 2: teams to, can the Big 12 get three teams in
- 1:11:14Speaker 2: to the college football playoffs?
- 1:11:14Speaker 7: Well, you know the Big 12 sits there and they
- 1:11:16Speaker 7: just pull for chaos week.
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: In, week out. Everywhere but them. Because it helps out.
- 1:11:22Speaker 2: A couple of fan incidents over the last two weeks
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: in the SEC. The Alabama fan shoving and yelling at
- 1:11:30Speaker 2: the Georgia player. That guy has been permanently banned from
- 1:11:34Speaker 2: Alabama football. Football games are all sporting events. The report
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: I saw said all athletics.
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: Yeah, so all of Alabama athletics in the future. That
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: seems a little extreme.
- 1:11:43Speaker 2: The Texas kid that had sidelines, somehow sideline access in
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: a viral video after the game, taunting Florida players, of course,
- 1:11:53Speaker 2: shooting it for his social media, shooting the bird at
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: Florida players and yelling at them after Florida has upset
- 1:11:59Speaker 2: Texas and Florida coaches having to hold the Florida players back.
- 1:12:04Speaker 2: Chris Del Conte says that he has now been banned
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: from future Texas football games for life.
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: I mean, it's a kid flicking a bird at players.
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: He's taunting them in video on the field. He's on
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: the field. Oh, he's on the field. He's doing this
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: one right here. I thought he's in the crowd. He's
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: doing this right here.
- 1:12:25Speaker 7: He's trying to provoke something.
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: He's trying to instigate a fight. Insight that riot on
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: the field. That would be bad for that kid. He
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: got access. He got access. uh he's got a pass
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: he's wearing a credential so somehow yeah.
- 1:12:35Speaker 7: And back to the the guy that was in the
- 1:12:37Speaker 7: box like i i just like i saw it i
- 1:12:40Speaker 7: don't know all the circumstances i just think when you
- 1:12:42Speaker 7: go lifetime ban on every event that seems a little
- 1:12:45Speaker 7: extreme like let's do a five-year ban and let's come
- 1:12:48Speaker 7: back and reevaluate see if we can rehabilitate yeah i
- 1:12:50Speaker 7: mean i mean that's that's life in prison for like
- 1:12:54Speaker 7: what's that's like maybe punching somebody in a bar yeah maybe.
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: A I mean, I don't really care. Those things are
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: always tough for me to see. It's a horrible look
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: for you personally and for the school. Well, that's the thing.
- 1:13:08Speaker 7: I think there's so much personal embarrassment. Like, I don't
- 1:13:10Speaker 7: know this guy, but I'm sure he has had to
- 1:13:14Speaker 7: probably went in hiding.
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: Might still be.
- 1:13:16Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, it has, I'm sure, had a huge
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: personal impact on him. I do differentiate between entering the
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: playing field. And being in the stands, I'm not excusing
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: the behavior, but there is a distinct difference when I
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: have now entered the playing field and I am openly
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: taunting the opposing team. And sometimes language that is used.
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: And that's always a factor, yeah.
- 1:13:36Speaker 5: What if the guy in the box, instead of being banned,
- 1:13:39Speaker 5: he just gets... tackled at full speed by the player
- 1:13:43Speaker 5: he touched.
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: Well, give him the choice. I'd rather be banned. Yeah,
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: give him the choice. I would say. Oh, you want
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: to go that bad? Take your hit.
- 1:13:50Speaker 2: In the Texas incident, there were coaches having to hold
- 1:13:53Speaker 2: a few Florida players back.
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 1:13:55Speaker 2: And I told Brown walking out yesterday, I was like,
- 1:13:57Speaker 2: if the Florida players had attacked him and beat him
- 1:14:00Speaker 2: to crap and he sued them and I was on
- 1:14:02Speaker 2: the jury, I would have been like, no, man, you
- 1:14:04Speaker 2: taunted them. It's like you jumped into the tiger's den.
- 1:14:07Speaker 2: I'm not going to sue the Tiger. I'm not going
- 1:14:09Speaker 2: to hold the Tiger in prison. They don't assume the
- 1:14:11Speaker 2: Tiger is going to be able to bite you. I
- 1:14:13Speaker 2: had a fraternity brother, Rob Brady. I hope he's listening.
- 1:14:16Speaker 7: He's up in Richmond, Virginia. I forgot which game it was,
- 1:14:20Speaker 7: but he was taunting. I think it was a Florida player.
- 1:14:22Speaker 7: And then the Florida player wasn't paying attention and kind
- 1:14:24Speaker 7: of jumped at him. He got all shaky.
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: That's pretty funny. I could see that. I could see that.
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: We've had a coach firing. I don't think it's going
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: to surprise anyone. It's a weird day to fire somebody.
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: Mike Loxley? He has been fired, according to Pete Demel.
- 1:14:37Speaker 7: Oh, I thought that already happened.
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: Well, I gave you bad information. We were coming back
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: from the mountains, and I said he'd been fired. He
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: actually had fired a coordinator. but clearly that was not enough. Yeah.
- 1:14:47Speaker 7: I mean, you figured after what happened this past weekend
- 1:14:49Speaker 7: against Rutgers that Loxley was going to be out. I
- 1:14:51Speaker 7: did see, I finished the Saban doc last night and
- 1:14:54Speaker 7: you did saw a little Mike Loxley on there.
- 1:14:56Speaker 2: So if you had to, if you had to give
- 1:14:57Speaker 2: it the, the grade, the documentary, and we'll get back
- 1:15:01Speaker 2: to Loxley in a second. What's the grade on the documentary?
- 1:15:04Speaker 7: I would give it a 90% out of a hundred.
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: Wow. Yeah. So an eight. Yeah. It's a, it's a,
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: it's very well done. It is very, very well done.
- 1:15:11Speaker 7: And, Again, I think you can even get marginal football
- 1:15:14Speaker 7: fans in there to watch it.
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: Oh, my wife was the driving force in our household.
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: She wanted to watch it. I was going to watch
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: it anyway.
- 1:15:20Speaker 7: I just can't believe how many people are watching this thing.
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: I mean, obviously, Golish watched it.
- 1:15:25Speaker 7: You saw his press conference comments.
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: Word for word, watched it. Yeah, almost word for word.
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: By the way, Maryland has a bye, so that's what
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: I was checking. Yeah, I guess that's why he fired
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: Coach on a Wednesday maybe. They've spent two days negotiating
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: the buyout, and they finally have agreed to it or whatever.
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: I don't know. But they've got to buy. It's just weird.
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: I mean, they had lost to Rutgers 37-30. I thought
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: the firing was coming Sunday. It's why when I saw
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: that story, I told you that. I don't think he's
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: a bad coach. That's a bad job. It's a bad situation.
- 1:15:55Speaker 7: It's a really, really bad job. But, you know, the
- 1:15:57Speaker 7: problem now is James Madison. And whatever's going on there
- 1:16:02Speaker 7: is causing chaos for other coaches because– You can look
- 1:16:05Speaker 7: at Maryland as being a bad job, but if I
- 1:16:06Speaker 7: would have asked you guys before the season, what's the
- 1:16:09Speaker 7: better job, UCLA or Maryland? If I would have asked
- 1:16:11Speaker 7: you three years ago, Maryland or Indiana? If those guys
- 1:16:15Speaker 7: are able to do it in year one, it's not fair.
- 1:16:17Speaker 7: It's crazy what's going on, but that's the reality of
- 1:16:20Speaker 7: the situation. I would think Loxley's probably making $ 4- 5 million.
- 1:16:24Speaker 7: If you're making $ 4- 5 million at a Big Ten school
- 1:16:26Speaker 7: and UCLA is able to right now be 6-0 and
- 1:16:29Speaker 7: in the top 10.
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: That's a problem for guys like Lockshin. I would tell
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: the James Madison guy right now, don't take this Maryland job.
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: It's going to feel a lot like the Sun Belt. Yeah.
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: Billy Napier's there, though. You've spent your whole life being
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: Sun Belt Billy. Maryland's going to feel a whole lot
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: like the Sun Belt. Maybe you can win there. That's
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: where he wins. Except you'd have to play Big Ten teams. Yeah.
- 1:16:49Speaker 7: You know, the Billy Napier thing is going to be
- 1:16:51Speaker 7: fascinating because somebody will take a chance and, It just
- 1:16:55Speaker 7: didn't look. Now, you talk to all Florida people like
- 1:16:57Speaker 7: before that the guy, Billy Napier, they loved him. But
- 1:17:01Speaker 7: like once they got down.
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: To Saturday, Saturday, Billy was not great.
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: Yeah, but I mean, let's say that he could be
- 1:17:08Speaker 2: the guy that breaks the chain of James Madison coaches, right?
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: Cignetti to Chesney. Now, Napier's there.
- 1:17:14Speaker 2: And if it had been anybody else but Napier and
- 1:17:16Speaker 2: they were unbeaten, people would be running to that guy's
- 1:17:18Speaker 2: doorstep today.
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: But the problem now is they're going to say, guys,
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: he couldn't win at Florida. Is he going to win
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: at Maryland?
- 1:17:23Speaker 7: I mean, if it's Johnny Jones, some random people would 100%.
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: Take a shot. Boy, the Joneses get mentioned a lot now.
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: It's a big family. Big family.
- 1:17:30Speaker 2: Yeah, if the Jones was a quarterback in Texas, we
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: wouldn't hold him to the same level. And now if
- 1:17:35Speaker 2: he was coaching at James Madison, he'd be a hot
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: ticket right now. All right, when we come back, more
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: college football and NFL discussion before we get out of
- 1:17:44Speaker 2: here today.
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: U2 is back.
- 1:17:47Speaker 2: I'll tell you how U2 is back on the NFL stage.

- 1:18:13Speaker 1: How about that protection?
- 1:18:15Speaker 7: Can I grab a wing?

- 1:20:54Speaker 2: Part of the 2020 National Championship team, Najee Harris, got
- 1:20:57Speaker 2: released yesterday. Ian Fitzsimmons, friend of the show, broke the story,
- 1:21:01Speaker 2: by the way. Najee had a two-yard start, two yards
- 1:21:06Speaker 2: in his start this past week for the Giants, and
- 1:21:08Speaker 2: he's been released now.
- 1:21:09Speaker 7: I don't know if you guys noticed, but Cam Scadaboo
- 1:21:13Speaker 7: has put it on the ground five times. And so
- 1:21:15Speaker 7: last week, you know, Harbaugh said, I mean, without saying,
- 1:21:19Speaker 7: he's in there for six plays, but doesn't carry the
- 1:21:22Speaker 7: football at all. So it's like they're punishing Skadaboo and
- 1:21:25Speaker 7: maybe lesson learned getting rid of Najee.
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: We'll see. But, you know, if Skadaboo's fumbling like that,
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: that's a problem.
- 1:21:31Speaker 2: And we were talking in the commercial break, that Giants
- 1:21:33Speaker 2: roster seems to be good enough to be, especially in
- 1:21:36Speaker 2: that division, a playoff team. But they've got a quarterback
- 1:21:40Speaker 2: issue with Jackson Dart out and Do you go J.J.
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: McCarthy from this point forward?
- 1:21:45Speaker 7: I think you have to because you know what you're
- 1:21:47Speaker 7: getting with Jameis Winston.
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: He is now a career backup.
- 1:21:52Speaker 7: The first time we saw him out on Monday night
- 1:21:53Speaker 7: after Jackson Dart goes down, he wasn't prepared. He came
- 1:21:56Speaker 7: back a little prepared for the next couple of games,
- 1:21:58Speaker 7: but he's just not very good at this point.
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: J.J.
- 1:22:01Speaker 7: McCarthy, you've got him on kind of a rental deal.
- 1:22:05Speaker 7: There was a reason. Somebody saw something in McCarthy when
- 1:22:08Speaker 7: they took him in the first round. Minnesota did. So
- 1:22:11Speaker 7: give him a shot. He looked really good in the
- 1:22:13Speaker 7: fourth quarter. It was mop-up duty, you thought.
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: But he had them.
- 1:22:17Speaker 7: I mean, that's one of those games we had this
- 1:22:19Speaker 7: past weekend. I ended up sweating it because I was like, damn,
- 1:22:22Speaker 7: if they score, the good news was... catching one and
- 1:22:24Speaker 7: a half there with the Saints. But if they would
- 1:22:26Speaker 7: have scored, I think they would have gone for two.
- 1:22:28Speaker 7: But he let them back.
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: He was on pace for 1,000 yards passing. Yeah, but
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: don't you think D'Amico Ryans is licking his chops to
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: get J.J. McCarthy this Sunday? Because you've got a whole
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: week to prepare for him. Yeah, I've seen him play.
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: There's zero chance he's going to play close to what
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: he did at the end of that game against the Saints. Yeah,
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: watch out for Houston. They're about to be 3-4.
- 1:22:49Speaker 7: And, you know, they were 2-4 last year, and they
- 1:22:52Speaker 7: made that run. And, you know, if it wasn't for C.J. Stroud,
- 1:22:55Speaker 7: there's a good chance they go.
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: To the Super Bowl. So they were 0-4 this year,
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: and they've won two straight and expect to win this
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: week to be 3-4. And they were 0-3 last year
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: before they got on the run and ended up winning
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: two of their next three was 2-4 at that point, too.
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: That's an interesting team. I know you joked a couple
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: of times this week that your NFL season likely ended
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: on Sunday. Kidding. You're joking.
- 1:23:19Speaker 7: I can't wait. I was supposed to go to Vegas
- 1:23:21Speaker 7: this weekend. I have canceled plans because it was going
- 1:23:23Speaker 7: to be a little complicated with your trip and we've
- 1:23:26Speaker 7: got some other stuff going on. But now I wouldn't
- 1:23:28Speaker 7: be as excited about going. But look, I won't miss
- 1:23:31Speaker 7: a minute.
- 1:23:31Speaker 2: So it's Rams-Las Vegas this weekend. Thanksgiving Eve, first ever
- 1:23:35Speaker 2: Thanksgiving Eve game this year is Packers and Rams on
- 1:23:39Speaker 2: Netflix on a Wednesday night. And it was announced yesterday
- 1:23:42Speaker 2: that 24 years after playing in the Super Bowl, The
- 1:23:46Speaker 2: Thanksgiving night, Eve night game between the Packers and Rams
- 1:23:50Speaker 2: at SoFi. U2 is coming back, and they're doing the
- 1:23:53Speaker 2: halftime show. It'll be a full Super Bowl-like halftime show
- 1:23:56Speaker 2: on the Wednesday night before Thanksgiving.
- 1:23:58Speaker 7: Yeah, look, and don't be surprised at that point if
- 1:24:00Speaker 7: the Rams are 6-4. I know this sounds crazy, but
- 1:24:03Speaker 7: they've got the Raiders this week. They've got the Chargers
- 1:24:06Speaker 7: at home. They've got the Commanders and the Cardinals. I
- 1:24:09Speaker 7: find it hard to believe the Cardinals are going to
- 1:24:11Speaker 7: sweep them in the series.
- 1:24:12Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: But, you know, I mean, look, they're banged up as hell.
- 1:24:14Speaker 7: But if they're 6-4 at that point taking on the
- 1:24:17Speaker 7: Packers on Thanksgiving Eve, that becomes an interesting game.
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: Are you all fans of U2? I've always liked them.
- 1:24:23Speaker 7: You saw them at that Super Bowl, right? Well, I mean,
- 1:24:26Speaker 7: I was getting a beer. Like, I checked them out
- 1:24:28Speaker 7: a little bit.
- 1:24:29Speaker 1: Yeah, so no. Yeah, I mean, I saw a little
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: bit of them. I like them a lot. How do
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: I say this?
- 1:24:37Speaker 2: It's a lot like Dave Matthews' band back in the
- 1:24:39Speaker 2: day for me. Like, I like them. I like their sound.
- 1:24:42Speaker 2: I like a lot of their songs. But over the
- 1:24:44Speaker 2: course of a whole concert, it can get really redundant.
- 1:24:47Speaker 2: Does that make any sense, what I'm trying to say?
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. Like, there's not enough variation in their songs
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: to where, like, if I sit for, like, I can
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: listen to them for a good 15, 20 minutes, and
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, I like those three, four, five songs.
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: And I'm not saying just their hits. I'm just saying, okay,
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: that's a cool sound for three or four or five songs.
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: But as we go to the hour mark, I'm like.
- 1:25:08Speaker 7: I thought they changed their sound as they evolved.
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: I mean, from like.
- 1:25:11Speaker 7: Where the Streets Have No Names and Sunday Bloody Sunday
- 1:25:14Speaker 7: to where Octoon was.
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: I mean, I thought the sound changed.
- 1:25:18Speaker 5: Maybe I haven't listened to enough U2, but I'm with
- 1:25:21Speaker 5: Jim on this. They all kind of run together for me.
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: And they caught some really bad PR for that automatic
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: download on the iPhones.
- 1:25:28Speaker 5: We were talking about that during the break. It wasn't
- 1:25:32Speaker 5: a good U2 album, and you also couldn't get.
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: Rid of it. That's right. It was a bad album,
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: and it was forced on everybody, and they caught some
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: bad PR for that. Like, I don't blame them for
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: making that business deal. That was probably a smart financial
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: deal on their part.
- 1:25:43Speaker 2: If Apple came to us right now and said, the
- 1:25:46Speaker 2: next round app is going to be automatically on everybody's 18.
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: Yeah. We would be like, yeah, whatever you're paying us for.
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: And we'd have a lot more haters. And I'm sure
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: people in New York would be like, who are these guys?
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: And I'm like, yeah, we're cashing a check on this.
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: I know you hate us, but we're still cashing that check.
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: So I'm sure you too was the same way.
- 1:26:03Speaker 5: And then Bono would be upset because he'd be like,
- 1:26:05Speaker 5: who are these guys?
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: I know.
- 1:26:07Speaker 5: Why is there.
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: American football on my phone? Why was this forced on me?
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: I never liked Dave Matthews band either. You brought them up.
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: That is never, I've never liked their music. I like it.
- 1:26:15Speaker 2: But again, I've gone to a couple of their concerts
- 1:26:17Speaker 2: and after a while, I'm like, okay, this different words
- 1:26:22Speaker 2: sound sort of the same.
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: Same song, different words. Sounds sort of the same.
- 1:26:25Speaker 2: Um, We've talked a little bit about the World Series
- 1:26:29Speaker 2: coming up. We know the Brewers or the Rays, whoever
- 1:26:32Speaker 2: wins it, will be their first world championship. The Rockies
- 1:26:35Speaker 2: and the Padres and the Mariners have never won. Those
- 1:26:38Speaker 2: are the five teams that have never won a World Series.
- 1:26:40Speaker 2: In other leagues, the list is bigger, but no Super
- 1:26:45Speaker 2: Bowl championship. The best two teams that have each had
- 1:26:49Speaker 2: four chances, the Bills and Vikings, I think those are
- 1:26:52Speaker 2: the best two. franchises that have never won a Super Bowl.
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: Yeah, and oddly... As far as the success. Yeah, oddly,
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: if you want to pair this together with what's going
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: on with the Rays, the Vikings are 5-0 somehow. I
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: don't know how, but they're 5-0, and the Bills are
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: one of the best teams in the NFL. I mean,
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: those teams are still very much alive. I don't think
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: there's any way the Vikings can get there. Well, you
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: say that.
- 1:27:13Speaker 7: I mean, look, Kevin O'Connell is an underrated coach. Brian Flores'
- 1:27:17Speaker 7: defense swarms, and Kyler Murray, finally. You saw it last week.
- 1:27:21Speaker 7: I mean, he's starting to play pretty good football.
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: I just don't have any faith in them in the NFC.
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: I mean, do you see them getting past San Francisco
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: or Seattle or your Rams to make it to the
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: Super Bowl? I mean, Seattle and the Rams are both
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: limping right now at 3-3, 2-4. The South is out.
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: The East is out.
- 1:27:38Speaker 7: It's just like, what can they internally do? And by
- 1:27:40Speaker 7: the way, they're 2-0 in their own division already.
- 1:27:42Speaker 2: Yeah, once you get to the playoffs, anything can happen.
- 1:27:45Speaker 2: That gets us to our NFL power rating this week,
- 1:27:49Speaker 2: where we rank each of us the top five teams
- 1:27:52Speaker 2: in the league. and the bottom five teams in the league,
- 1:27:55Speaker 2: I really hope you do not put the Rams in
- 1:27:57Speaker 2: your bottom five.
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: No, it didn't go that far. I did take them
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: out of my top five again.
- 1:28:03Speaker 7: I really believe at this point the Rams should be 4-2. Again,
- 1:28:08Speaker 7: they would still be a shaky 4-2, so they're not
- 1:28:10Speaker 7: one of the worst teams.
- 1:28:12Speaker 2: All right, so let's see our power rating this week.
- 1:28:15Speaker 2: I stick with the 49ers. I go Chiefs. I go Bills.
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: The Vikings are in there for me. And then the
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: Jaguars in there for me, even after their loss to
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: the Texans this past week. Down at the bottom, I
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: go Eagles because I don't know if they're going to
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: get healthy before it's all said and done. Commanders, Titans, Chargers,
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: Dolphins for me. Lance, give me your list. Yeah, I've
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: got the 49ers.
- 1:28:40Speaker 7: Still the top spot. I've had them since second week.
- 1:28:43Speaker 7: I've got the Bills right there, the Chiefs. I mean,
- 1:28:45Speaker 7: they're undefeated. I don't know how good they are. We
- 1:28:48Speaker 7: shall see. I'll tell you, Kenneth Walker has been a
- 1:28:50Speaker 7: difference maker. The Vikings are undefeated.
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: Got to put them there.
- 1:28:54Speaker 7: And I still believe in the Seahawks at 3-3.
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: Bottom five, your Bucs.
- 1:28:58Speaker 7: The Commanders, the Chargers, the Titans, and then the Dolphins
- 1:29:03Speaker 7: get the last spot.
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: Yeah, my bottom five identical to Lance's. Where I differ. Yeah,
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: and the bottom four, well, no, there's a little change
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: in our bottom four.
- 1:29:13Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: Where I differ is I keep the Ravens in. I mean,
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: when they've got Lamar Jackson playing in healthy, the Ravens
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: are one of the five best teams in the NFL.
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: I don't have the Vikings in there. Okay, now do
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: that with Baker Mayfield and the Buccaneers. If Baker was playing...
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: I would not have them in my bottom five if
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: Baker was playing. But you keep the Ravens there for
- 1:29:30Speaker 1: Lamar was playing. If you looked at the records. Makes
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: no sense. If you looked at the records. Are you
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: an AP poll voter? Aren't the Ravens four and two?
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: Am I incorrect about that? So are the Browns. Huh?
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: So are the Browns.
- 1:29:41Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: They just beat them. Go ahead. It's your list. But anyway,
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: it is mine, as last I checked. I don't have
- 1:29:46Speaker 1: the Vikings in there. Their offense is dreadful. Somebody in
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: the chat just said their offense is Will Reichert. That's
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: their offense. You can't win. He's good, though. He's fantastic.
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: He never misses. But you can't win consistently leaning on
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: your kicker that much. He's good. Their offense is no good. Well,
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: you got Jags at four still.
- 1:30:02Speaker 4: I do.
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: That's a good team.
- 1:30:05Speaker 7: No, I think Jags are a good team. They're just
- 1:30:06Speaker 7: coming off a loss, so I moved them out.
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: You've got them at five, Jim. I do, I do.
- 1:30:11Speaker 2: And I was shaky with them at five. And I
- 1:30:13Speaker 2: did look at the Ravens there, and I looked at
- 1:30:16Speaker 2: the Seahawks.
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: You know, it's weird. It's just the NFL. We've all
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: got the 49ers across the top at one. We've all
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: got the Commanders at 29. in the bottom, and that
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: ended up being a one-possession game on the road with
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: the Commanders.
- 1:30:30Speaker 7: Yeah, I still think I would have had the 49ers
- 1:30:33Speaker 7: at one with that loss because I saw them up
- 1:30:34Speaker 7: 20 in that game. Again, man, you look at their
- 1:30:38Speaker 7: wide receiver situation right now. I mean, they are limping.
- 1:30:43Speaker 1: Literally.
- 1:30:43Speaker 7: We talked about this.
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: I mean, the amount of injuries this early. Do you
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: think it's embarrassing to be the other McCaffrey brother, the
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: one that plays for Washington?
- 1:30:52Speaker 4: Luke?
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: Luke, and he's in the game, but your older brother
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: is one of the best players in the NFL. And,
- 1:30:58Speaker 1: you know, people are watching that game like, oh, there's
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: another McCaffrey in the NFL? I did not know that.
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: I didn't know that either.
- 1:31:03Speaker 2: What's amazing in the NFL is Sean McVay's record now
- 1:31:06Speaker 2: against the LaFleur brothers.
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: It's not very good. Who all came up with him, right? Yeah,
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: they've coached under him. Yeah. So they all.
- 1:31:14Speaker 2: Learned from him, and then they have a better record
- 1:31:18Speaker 2: against him than he does against them. I saw that
- 1:31:21Speaker 2: stat as it was going on, and I was like,
- 1:31:23Speaker 2: I think we're cherry-picking here now. This LaFleur at Arizona,
- 1:31:26Speaker 2: this is his first game against him, right?
- 1:31:28Speaker 1: It was, it was, but he's still a win. To
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: throw him in there that quick, I was like, all right,
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: the other brother. I'm sure one of the right brothers
- 1:31:37Speaker 1: probably helped the plane a little bit more than the
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: other one did, but the LaFleur guy hasn't done a
- 1:31:41Speaker 1: ton yet. Hey, what do you think happens to Jim
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: Harbaugh if he gets fired? We were talking with Brock yesterday.
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: He can't go back to college. No, I mean. He's
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: got to show cause. Yeah, that's what I was about
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: to say. I mean, he literally cannot go back to college. Yeah.
- 1:31:53Speaker 1: That was a significant penalty. I would think that he probably,
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: he's not going to get into broadcasting. He's too weird.
- 1:31:59Speaker 1: He's too weird. He's done at that point. Yeah, I mean,
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: I don't know what NFL franchise would hire him. Yeah.
- 1:32:03Speaker 1: After failing this bad with the Chargers. Yeah. I mean,
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: we could be watching the end of his coaching career,
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: which is pretty crazy because it's been a fairly solid career.
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: I mean, but. Motivational speaking. Like Lance said, he's so awkward.
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: And for all the things that he let go on
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: at Michigan while he was there, I don't know if
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: I would want to adhere to his leadership standards. Exactly.
- 1:32:28Speaker 1: I mean, I think he's probably done. I don't know
- 1:32:30Speaker 1: what else he would do in football. Now, look, he's
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: going to get enough money to walk away and be fine.
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: I'm not worried about his financial future, but I just
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: don't think you'll see Jim Harbaugh back in football. His
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: stock's way down. It is way down. Way down. Boy,
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: it's such a bad team, 0-6. And it took him
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: so long to get Michigan to where he got them
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: that I don't even know how attractive he would be
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: in the college game.
- 1:32:52Speaker 7: Well, you know, the Michigan thing was interesting, the way
- 1:32:55Speaker 7: he built that, because he kept all those guys together
- 1:32:58Speaker 7: for four years, basically. So, like, they got a little
- 1:33:00Speaker 7: bit better each and every year, and then he closed
- 1:33:02Speaker 7: it out.
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: He was gone to the NFL, and he's got his
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: show calls, but.
- 1:33:06Speaker 7: That's one of the last programs I think at the
- 1:33:08Speaker 7: Power 4 level you'll ever see built like that.
- 1:33:11Speaker 1: Yeah. Where you basically take a freshman class. Yeah, that's right.
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: And nobody transfers. And you stack it, stack it, stack it,
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: and keep it all together. with J.J.
- 1:33:18Speaker 2: McCarthy, who we started the segment off at quarterback. All right,
- 1:33:21Speaker 2: when we come back, our final segment today includes, we
- 1:33:25Speaker 2: just mentioned Jim Harbaugh's stock being way down. We will
- 1:33:28Speaker 2: talk stocks in college football. I've got one team with
- 1:33:31Speaker 2: really golden helmets. You could almost call them domes, whose
- 1:33:34Speaker 2: stock fell a lot for me. I don't know how
- 1:33:36Speaker 2: good Notre Dame is. We'll talk about some stocks dropping
- 1:33:39Speaker 2: and rising. It's next, right here on the next round,
- 1:33:42Speaker 2: presented by Hard Rock Bet on Sporting State.
- 1:33:44Speaker 3: This year, the biggest sportsbook party's getting even bigger.
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: Hey, there's J-Boy.
- 1:33:49Speaker 3: Whether you just getting here or you been here, you're
- 1:33:51Speaker 3: not leaving here empty-handed.
- 1:33:54Speaker 4: Hey, J.
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: Jimmy Johnson. Kevin, they know me?
- 1:33:58Speaker 3: Of course, in this party, everybody's somebody. This season, Hard

- 1:34:14Speaker 1: Recognize him on the commercial.

- 1:35:12Speaker 2: why not drink some coffee that is never in a warehouse?
- 1:35:15Speaker 2: It ships fresh to you. and it's helping out the
- 1:35:18Speaker 2: families of fallen service members. Good coffee, made in America,
- 1:35:21Speaker 2: doing some good. CrockettCoffee.com. I'll go first on some stock down,
- 1:35:28Speaker 2: and then we'll do some stock up. But Notre Dame
- 1:35:30Speaker 2: for me, after watching them play BYU, and I know
- 1:35:33Speaker 2: BYU is good, but I don't think BYU is great.
- 1:35:36Speaker 2: And I'm wondering how good Notre Dame is now. My
- 1:35:39Speaker 2: stock is down on Notre Dame, and after watching that game,
- 1:35:44Speaker 2: loss aside, The way Notre Dame played, do you think
- 1:35:47Speaker 2: they're as elite as you thought they were?
- 1:35:49Speaker 7: Well, I mean, look, they didn't play well there, but
- 1:35:52Speaker 7: it was like they're, you know, the only opponent that
- 1:35:56Speaker 7: has had, like, even a shot at beating them.
- 1:35:59Speaker 1: Heartbeat?
- 1:36:00Speaker 7: Yeah, and it was still a really, really difficult atmosphere.
- 1:36:03Speaker 7: That's a really good BYU defense.
- 1:36:04Speaker 1: C.J. Carr was a little off. I think Notre Dame's
- 1:36:07Speaker 1: still really good. I do. You do? Yeah, I do.
- 1:36:11Speaker 1: Give me a comparison. I'm sorry, Bernie.
- 1:36:12Speaker 2: Give me a comparison of, Of how good they are.
- 1:36:15Speaker 2: Give me an SEC or Big Ten comparison.
- 1:36:17Speaker 1: Indiana.
- 1:36:19Speaker 7: I think they've got better quarterback play than Josh Hoover.
- 1:36:22Speaker 7: I don't think they've– well, I mean, yeah, they don't have–
- 1:36:25Speaker 7: the receivers are close. Yeah, I would say Indiana.
- 1:36:28Speaker 1: You think Notre Dame's receivers are close to Indiana's?
- 1:36:30Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:36:31Speaker 7: I mean, Notre Dame, Great House, Faison, yeah, those guys
- 1:36:34Speaker 7: are good. I mean, they're not Becker and Marsh, but
- 1:36:37Speaker 7: I'm just saying they're still quality wide receivers.
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: Bye week this week for Notre Dame. Then they host Navy,
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: who's been a huge disappointment. this year so that's or
- 1:36:45Speaker 1: i say they host them they're in foxborough actually their
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: whole schedule is a bi-week yeah i know but then
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: you get in miami i mean saturday november 7th just
- 1:36:52Speaker 1: a couple weeks away they're hosting miami i mean they
- 1:36:56Speaker 1: were a touchdown favorite earlier in that that's not going
- 1:36:59Speaker 1: to go off as a touchdown favorite for them right
- 1:37:01Speaker 1: i mean miami's not going to be favorite i wouldn't
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: think that's gonna be pretty tight Well, let's see.
- 1:37:05Speaker 7: What Miami does this week. Now, Miami definitely will be favored.
- 1:37:08Speaker 7: I would say that right now Notre Dame is four
- 1:37:10Speaker 7: and a half.
- 1:37:11Speaker 1: Okay, and it has been as high as a touchdown,
- 1:37:12Speaker 1: I think, when it first came out. So that's dropped
- 1:37:14Speaker 1: a little bit.
- 1:37:15Speaker 2: And listen, when I talk about Notre Dame's schedule, I
- 1:37:19Speaker 2: understand that there are a lot of teams that will
- 1:37:21Speaker 2: not schedule Notre Dame, and there's a lot of teams
- 1:37:24Speaker 2: that can't schedule Notre Dame when Notre Dame needs to
- 1:37:28Speaker 2: play them because they have to fill out a 12-week schedule,
- 1:37:31Speaker 2: and people have nine-game conference schedules, so that hurts. Notre
- 1:37:36Speaker 2: Dame's ability to find some opponents along the way, hence
- 1:37:40Speaker 2: their agreement with the ACC.
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: Auburn gets them.
- 1:37:42Speaker 2: I think that series starts next season, so that's exciting.
- 1:37:46Speaker 2: But their schedule is what it is. I was disappointed.
- 1:37:49Speaker 2: I thought this Notre Dame team was going to be
- 1:37:54Speaker 2: maybe the best team in the country, and it did
- 1:37:56Speaker 2: not look like that the other night. So give me
- 1:37:59Speaker 2: somebody else.
- 1:38:00Speaker 7: But you say that, and I don't disagree. That was
- 1:38:02Speaker 7: probably as bad as they've looked. But I think the
- 1:38:05Speaker 7: opponent had something to do with that. And Notre Dame,
- 1:38:08Speaker 7: the reality of the situation, should have had one untimed
- 1:38:12Speaker 7: down at the two-yard line.
- 1:38:13Speaker 1: I wonder how differently we view them if they get
- 1:38:16Speaker 1: that untimed down and score right there. You're just like, hey, man,
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: they won the game. Well, that was a gritty win,
- 1:38:20Speaker 1: go really difficult environment, and found a way to win.
- 1:38:24Speaker 1: So maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I'm wrong. I mean, I'm
- 1:38:26Speaker 1: with you. I was not as blown away by them
- 1:38:28Speaker 1: as I thought I was going to be watching that game.
- 1:38:30Speaker 2: I really thought notre dame would cover i thought they'd
- 1:38:32Speaker 2: go in there and was it 10 and a half
- 1:38:34Speaker 2: oh i did too i thought notre dame would go
- 1:38:36Speaker 2: in and beat them handily.
- 1:38:37Speaker 7: Yeah i mean i'm re-evaluating like double digit favorites quality
- 1:38:42Speaker 7: favorites against quality opponents i mean it's just too many
- 1:38:45Speaker 7: points right now.
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: Yeah See, I'm even scared about Kentucky 10.5 at home
- 1:38:49Speaker 1: with Vandy this week. And I know there's no reason
- 1:38:53Speaker 1: for me to be scared about that.
- 1:38:54Speaker 7: Well, I'll tell you why there is, is because Kentucky
- 1:38:56Speaker 7: hadn't been in this situation.
- 1:38:57Speaker 1: Yeah, that jersey still says Kentucky. He's done a great job.
- 1:38:59Speaker 7: Last time Kentucky was a double-digit favorite in a conference game.
- 1:39:03Speaker 1: Yeah, he's done a great job, but that jersey still
- 1:39:05Speaker 1: says Kentucky.
- 1:39:06Speaker 2: I mean, it goes without saying Alabama's stock went way
- 1:39:09Speaker 2: down for me this past week. And I'll say that, Brownie, because.
- 1:39:16Speaker 2: Some of the things that haunted them last year and
- 1:39:19Speaker 2: the year before showed back up, and I thought they
- 1:39:22Speaker 2: had flushed all of that. I didn't think those same
- 1:39:25Speaker 2: things that haunted them last year would come back, and
- 1:39:28Speaker 2: it looked exactly like last year's team a couple of times.
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: I think individually, identical. Keelan Russell, though it is not
- 1:39:37Speaker 1: all his fault, but when you're the quarterback, you get
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: more praise and more blame than you do. But this
- 1:39:42Speaker 1: is a guy we were having Heisman discussions about just
- 1:39:44Speaker 1: two short weeks ago And the Georgia game was good,
- 1:39:49Speaker 1: I would have said.
- 1:39:50Speaker 7: Would you say he played good against Georgia? Yeah, I mean,
- 1:39:53Speaker 7: he played good enough. I mean, some of the plays
- 1:39:55Speaker 7: he made in that second half, I know it didn't
- 1:39:56Speaker 7: equate to points. But, again, not all his fault, but
- 1:40:01Speaker 7: he was not good Saturday. We were praising their offensive
- 1:40:04Speaker 7: line a lot. And against Georgia, Keelan had to save
- 1:40:08Speaker 7: them a lot.
- 1:40:08Speaker 1: Yeah, and then Saturday.
- 1:40:09Speaker 7: But if you take away Saturday, which you can, in
- 1:40:12Speaker 7: the first half against Kentucky, he's been really, really good.
- 1:40:14Speaker 1: He has been. But if we're doing stock up, stock down,
- 1:40:17Speaker 1: his stock certainly has fallen over the last two weeks.
- 1:40:21Speaker 2: And how many times did we say Georgia was the
- 1:40:23Speaker 2: most buttoned up team in the country?
- 1:40:26Speaker 1: Yeah. And they looked unbuttoned by Auburn. A buttoned up team.
- 1:40:29Speaker 1: And I'll go back to this. It leaked from the
- 1:40:31Speaker 1: locker room. Kirby Smart singing the praises of his team
- 1:40:34Speaker 1: of how smart we were. That our guy didn't get
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: involved in a personal foul, and it cost Alabama the game,
- 1:40:41Speaker 1: and that dumb MF-er that did it for Alabama cost
- 1:40:43Speaker 1: them the game.
- 1:40:44Speaker 7: Not one, not two, but three personal fouls for Georgia
- 1:40:47Speaker 7: on Saturday.
- 1:40:48Speaker 1: Three turnovers. Three personal fouls, Lance, including the one that
- 1:40:53Speaker 1: basically gave Auburn a field goal.
- 1:40:55Speaker 7: I was with one of my Georgia buddies last night,
- 1:40:58Speaker 7: and he is completely convinced that, and look, I know
- 1:41:01Speaker 7: people make excuses, but he's like, Gunnar had to have
- 1:41:03Speaker 7: been concussed. That is not Gunnar Stockton. And that final
- 1:41:06Speaker 7: turnover where it hits the pad of his player on
- 1:41:09Speaker 7: the fumble, it was weird watching Gunnar like that.
- 1:41:13Speaker 2: And there are people that believe him and Keelan both
- 1:41:16Speaker 2: suffered concussions in those games and didn't come out of
- 1:41:20Speaker 2: the game or didn't get diagnosed that way. Maybe they
- 1:41:22Speaker 2: answered the question correctly when they get asked those questions.
- 1:41:27Speaker 1: Yeah, I always wonder what that baseline is. How many fingers?
- 1:41:30Speaker 1: And he goes, Tuesday? Yep. All right. He's back, Coach.
- 1:41:32Speaker 1: How many fingers am I holding up?
- 1:41:33Speaker 4: Tuesday.
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: I asked him what day it is. How many fingers
- 1:41:35Speaker 1: am I holding up? Green.
- 1:41:37Speaker 4: Yep.
- 1:41:37Speaker 1: Yep. That's one color of the grass. Let him in.
- 1:41:39Speaker 1: Let him in. Did you hear four? Yeah, I heard four.
- 1:41:42Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:41:42Speaker 1: Yeah. Or it could be like old Mike Cousin Vinny.
- 1:41:47Speaker 1: How many fingers up on that? Let the record show,
- 1:41:49Speaker 1: defense hung up two fingers. Judge, please!
- 1:41:55Speaker 2: Give me some other stocks down or up after this
- 1:41:58Speaker 2: past weekend of chaos.
- 1:41:59Speaker 1: Well, I think Tennessee's defense has got to be up.
- 1:42:01Speaker 7: Like Jim Knowles finally figuring out the pieces, what he
- 1:42:03Speaker 7: wants to do here. I mean, they completely confused Alabama
- 1:42:07Speaker 7: and shut them down. And right now you're talking about
- 1:42:09Speaker 7: a Tennessee defense that's that is the best-scoring defense in
- 1:42:12Speaker 7: the SEC, give it less than 15 points per game.
- 1:42:14Speaker 1: And they're about to lose on the road this weekend,
- 1:42:16Speaker 1: according to everybody. Probably are.
- 1:42:17Speaker 7: But if they're going to win on the road, it
- 1:42:18Speaker 7: is going to be because of that defense.
- 1:42:21Speaker 1: And they can run the football.
- 1:42:22Speaker 7: But, you know, I would say Tennessee's defense, you've got
- 1:42:26Speaker 7: to start considering one of the better or, if not,
- 1:42:29Speaker 7: best defenses right now in college football.
- 1:42:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, we praise that Jim Knowles hire in
- 1:42:32Speaker 1: the offseason. and talked about you know what a game
- 1:42:35Speaker 1: changer that could be for Tennessee if they can get
- 1:42:37Speaker 1: quarterback right and let's be honest with it they haven't
- 1:42:39Speaker 1: gotten quarterback right and it's still been a game changer
- 1:42:42Speaker 1: like we thought the only piece with Jim Knowles there
- 1:42:45Speaker 1: their ability to run the football the only piece missing
- 1:42:47Speaker 1: was good quarterback they haven't gotten good quarterback play and
- 1:42:49Speaker 1: they're this far away from being undefeated I mean it
- 1:42:52Speaker 1: might have been controversial the way they won the Texas
- 1:42:54Speaker 1: game but they had a shot to win the Texas
- 1:42:56Speaker 1: game um I'm trying to think of an analogy but
- 1:43:00Speaker 1: Somebody has to win. I don't even want to throw
- 1:43:05Speaker 1: a city out, but I'll throw El Paso out. Somebody
- 1:43:09Speaker 1: has to win Miss El Paso every year. That's right.
- 1:43:11Speaker 1: When they have the Miss El Paso. So it's not
- 1:43:13Speaker 1: always pretty.
- 1:43:14Speaker 7: I think the cartel fixes that one.
- 1:43:16Speaker 1: Not always pretty, but North Carolina. It's weird.
- 1:43:19Speaker 2: I mean, we don't like to give Bill Belichick a
- 1:43:23Speaker 2: lot of credit, but they're winning some football games.
- 1:43:27Speaker 1: And it's going to be.
- 1:43:28Speaker 7: Really interesting at the end of the year what you
- 1:43:29Speaker 7: do with Belichick, because you've definitely you saw improvement with
- 1:43:33Speaker 7: the defense throughout last year. The Gio Lopez thing is
- 1:43:36Speaker 7: weird because he has thrived under Jake Dickert. But now
- 1:43:40Speaker 7: you look at this North Carolina team, they've won back
- 1:43:42Speaker 7: to back games. They finally beat a top 25, his
- 1:43:45Speaker 7: first top 25 win at Carolina two weeks ago against Pittsburgh.
- 1:43:48Speaker 7: Then you beat your rival in a comeback fashion in
- 1:43:51Speaker 7: the fourth quarter on a final drive on the road
- 1:43:53Speaker 7: in Durham. And now you've got a very, very winnable
- 1:43:56Speaker 7: game this weekend against Syracuse. So, you know, at the
- 1:43:59Speaker 7: end of this, they're going to be sitting at five
- 1:44:01Speaker 7: and two. They might have better records than than LSU.
- 1:44:05Speaker 7: And I mean, after this weekend and Texas, I mean,
- 1:44:08Speaker 7: it's just kind of crazy. I know it's not against
- 1:44:10Speaker 7: like competition. But they've got more winnable games coming up.
- 1:44:13Speaker 1: They'll be a big underdog, I would imagine, when Miami
- 1:44:16Speaker 1: comes to town. But it's a good spot for them
- 1:44:17Speaker 1: to catch Miami. It's a night game at Kenan Stadium.
- 1:44:20Speaker 1: And they get them the week before Miami plays at
- 1:44:22Speaker 1: Notre Dame. So if you're ever going to get Miami
- 1:44:24Speaker 1: looking ahead.
- 1:44:25Speaker 7: Yesterday, I think that could be a trap game for
- 1:44:28Speaker 7: Miami in Chapel Hill.
- 1:44:29Speaker 1: I really do.
- 1:44:30Speaker 7: I mean, we set it for Notre Dame. And, you know,
- 1:44:32Speaker 7: it was in weird elements. And Carolina played Notre Dame
- 1:44:34Speaker 7: pretty good.
- 1:44:35Speaker 1: They really did. Yeah, well, I'm looking at that. What
- 1:44:37Speaker 1: was that final?
- 1:44:38Speaker 4: 37-26.
- 1:44:38Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. And you're right. It rained a lot in
- 1:44:42Speaker 1: that game. It was a weird, weird game. Opening second
- 1:44:45Speaker 1: half kickoff return for a touchdown. That's right.
- 1:44:47Speaker 2: Made that really sweaty for Notre Dame in that one.
- 1:44:53Speaker 2: Stock's up right now in James Franklin and Virginia Tech.
- 1:44:56Speaker 2: But here goes Franklin and Virginia Tech into Death Valley
- 1:45:00Speaker 2: to play Clemson. They were off the radar Clemson team.
- 1:45:04Speaker 2: But it's a 6 o'clock primetime ESPN game that is
- 1:45:08Speaker 2: being considered a big game for Virginia Tech. This is
- 1:45:11Speaker 2: all the makings of a James Franklin letdown game, isn't it?
- 1:45:14Speaker 1: Maybe. You look at Franklin, they're 5-2, which is a
- 1:45:18Speaker 1: good first season. Yeah, but that loss at Cal is
- 1:45:20Speaker 1: a stinker. It is.
- 1:45:21Speaker 7: But they've led in all seven games in the second half,
- 1:45:24Speaker 7: so they've been right there. They could easily be 7-0.
- 1:45:27Speaker 7: And Luke Reynolds, one of the best tight ends in
- 1:45:29Speaker 7: college football, was so good to begin the season. He's
- 1:45:32Speaker 7: gone five straight games without a touchdown reception, so they've
- 1:45:35Speaker 7: got to get him back involved. And one of the
- 1:45:37Speaker 7: better passing offenses, their 11th nationally in passing offense, They
- 1:45:40Speaker 7: get after the quarterback. They're sixth in sacks with 23.
- 1:45:44Speaker 7: I mean, they've been better than advertised, and they're always
- 1:45:47Speaker 7: in these games.
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: I would feel better about this team. I think they're
- 1:45:51Speaker 1: better than Clemson, but it is in Death Valley. If
- 1:45:53Speaker 1: their only loss was the controversial Pitt loss, and they
- 1:45:56Speaker 1: had not lost at Cal, I'd feel a lot better
- 1:45:58Speaker 1: about this team. That loss at Cal is a stinker.
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: That is not a good California football team. They went
- 1:46:03Speaker 1: out there and lost to them. The Pitt game, that
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: was when Pitt was at full strength at quarterback. Their
- 1:46:09Speaker 1: quarterback got hurt in that game. So, I mean, that
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: was just a back and forth game. And then he
- 1:46:13Speaker 1: had the controversial field goal call at the end, in
- 1:46:15Speaker 1: or out, still being discussed. Still being discussed. I mean,
- 1:46:20Speaker 1: you guys watched it. I don't know if you thought
- 1:46:21Speaker 1: it was good or no good. I don't know how much.
- 1:46:22Speaker 1: I can't remember how much we talked about it. Did
- 1:46:24Speaker 1: you think it was good? Initially, but then watching the replay,
- 1:46:28Speaker 1: I didn't. I thought it was good because it was
- 1:46:30Speaker 1: going in and out. Right. So instead of out. And
- 1:46:33Speaker 1: everybody's got all these different angles. And I like to
- 1:46:36Speaker 1: remind people there is no better angle than the ref
- 1:46:38Speaker 1: looking right up the post. But have you ever tried
- 1:46:40Speaker 1: to do that? Yeah, I mean, I think when you
- 1:46:42Speaker 1: tilt your head back like that, it does adjust your.
- 1:46:45Speaker 7: I think he sneezed when he looked up.
- 1:46:47Speaker 1: You think so? I don't know. What are you doing?
- 1:46:50Speaker 1: That's how they look at each other. They're like, doing
- 1:46:52Speaker 1: good or good? Because the sun, you guys ever look
- 1:46:55Speaker 1: at the sun and you sneeze? Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:46:57Speaker 7: I know this was a night game, but can you
- 1:46:59Speaker 7: imagine if that was the scenario?
- 1:47:00Speaker 1: He didn't see it because he sneezed?
- 1:47:02Speaker 2: I just, I would ask you, because I've stood behind
- 1:47:07Speaker 2: the goalpost, not under it, but behind it pretty close
- 1:47:10Speaker 2: and looked up and tried to, judge them as they're
- 1:47:12Speaker 2: going over the top and it's not as easy as
- 1:47:14Speaker 2: it looks no and that ball's coming through there quicker
- 1:47:17Speaker 2: than it looks on tv like when it gets to
- 1:47:18Speaker 2: you know i'm saying when it gets there it's moving
- 1:47:20Speaker 2: you yeah you know and if i'm looking up uh
- 1:47:25Speaker 2: right under it where it looks like they are am
- 1:47:26Speaker 2: i not looking up just to the bottom of the
- 1:47:28Speaker 2: crossbar i have to be a little in front or
- 1:47:29Speaker 2: a little behind right to see the bar i can't
- 1:47:33Speaker 2: be looking straight up at the bar they stand behind
- 1:47:36Speaker 2: a little behind that would make sense because you're If
- 1:47:42Speaker 2: you're in front, it could still curve enough to go inside, right?
- 1:47:45Speaker 2: So if you're behind, I guess.
- 1:47:46Speaker 1: Hell, I don't know. I've never done it. It just
- 1:47:48Speaker 1: doesn't look easy. Again, as Josh Pate said, we've got
- 1:47:52Speaker 1: mid-20th century technology that could end all this discussion if
- 1:47:55Speaker 1: we just used it. I've got to have a laser
- 1:47:58Speaker 1: beam on top of the goal post, and this is easy.
- 1:48:01Speaker 1: If it trips the beam, it's out.
- 1:48:03Speaker 7: Or again, the chip in the football that would eliminate
- 1:48:07Speaker 7: a lot of things, breaking the plane, first downs.
- 1:48:11Speaker 1: Where it is on the uprights. Yeah, I mean, there's
- 1:48:14Speaker 1: technology we could use that would make this a non-discussion.
- 1:48:18Speaker 1: We don't do the.
- 1:48:19Speaker 2: first down tennis animation in the NFL as much as
- 1:48:24Speaker 2: I thought we were going.
- 1:48:24Speaker 1: To use it. Yeah. And they don't show it. A
- 1:48:26Speaker 1: lot of times they'll just do it and say, oh, yeah,
- 1:48:29Speaker 1: it's first down. Yeah. I always thought it was going
- 1:48:31Speaker 1: to be stoppage of play and it'll be like. Yeah.
- 1:48:34Speaker 2: And when they do stop and show it, it takes
- 1:48:36Speaker 2: longer than running the chains out.
- 1:48:38Speaker 1: So you're probably right about that. You know what I'm saying? Yeah,
- 1:48:40Speaker 1: we assume it's more accurate, but it's certainly slower.
- 1:48:42Speaker 2: Fun weekend of college football continues tonight's New Mexico State
- 1:48:45Speaker 2: and Sam Houston, but it gets really good tomorrow. James Madison,
- 1:48:50Speaker 2: chance to lose at App State maybe?
- 1:48:51Speaker 1: I don't know. Tomorrow night, JMU's a double-digit favorite. I mean, possibly.
- 1:48:57Speaker 1: Got to go to Boone. Memphis stocked down. They're hosting
- 1:49:00Speaker 1: ECU tomorrow night. Not a great East Carolina team. But
- 1:49:03Speaker 1: on Friday, Duke struggling at Virginia on Friday night. And
- 1:49:09Speaker 1: NC State and Stanford, a couple of disappointing teams. NC
- 1:49:12Speaker 1: State on the road to Stanford. Some fun Friday night
- 1:49:14Speaker 1: games coming up. We've got a whole second half of
- 1:49:17Speaker 1: the next round coming up. You'll go watch Buck and Clay.
- 1:49:22Speaker 1: But when you come back to us on replay here
- 1:49:24Speaker 1: on our YouTube channel, any of our social media, or
- 1:49:26Speaker 1: at Spotify at Next Round Live, if you're hanging around
- 1:49:30Speaker 1: live with us, we've got Chris Doering on the show.
- 1:49:33Speaker 1: And we've got a couple of fan responses towards Kalen DeBoer.
- 1:49:37Speaker 2: Why these fans may have a point, but they're wrong points.
- 1:49:41Speaker 2: That's next as we continue on the next round.
