- 0:15Welcome back to Faith in the Furlough.
- 0:17I'm Doctor J Nicole, and today we're ending this series with a
- 0:22powerful reminder. Waiting is not wasted time.
- 0:28Furloughs can really feel like everything is on hold.
- 0:31Your job is on hold. Your paycheck is on hold.
- 0:34Maybe even your future is on hold.
- 0:37But here's the truth. While you wait, you can build.
- 0:42And what you build in this falls can carry into your next season
- 0:46stronger than before. Write the vision and make it
- 0:50plain on tablets that he may run.
- 0:52Who reads it? For the vision is yet for an
- 0:55appointed time, but at the end it will speak and it will not
- 1:00lie, though it tarries. Wait for it because it will
- 1:05surely come. God is saying while you wait,
- 1:09right? Build, prepare.
- 1:12It's that simple. Think about it, the furlough may
- 1:16have put a pause on your income, but that doesn't have to pause
- 1:20your progress. The Bible is full of people, not
- 1:23characters. Full of actual people who built
- 1:27in seasons of waiting. Noah.
- 1:30He built the ark and there wasn't a drop of rain insight.
- 1:32People thought he was crazy and taunted him.
- 1:35Right? Joseph managed Egypt before the
- 1:39famine. the Exiles in Babylon, they were told to build houses,
- 1:45plant gardens, and prosper while they waited to return home.
- 1:49Waiting seasons are building seasons.
- 1:52What you create now, whether that's that side business, you
- 1:56write the book refreshing that resume, you're building
- 2:00healthier habits, you're developing spiritual discipline.
- 2:04All of those things will outlast this furlough.
- 2:08So don't treat this season as wasted time.
- 2:11Treat this like training talk. It's time to get in the gym, OK,
- 2:18it's time to train and at an appointed time you will reap a
- 2:23harvest. Now don't get me wrong, waiting
- 2:27is hard, but God never weighs a weight.
- 2:32He uses these pauses to refine vision, to strengthen faith, and
- 2:36to stretch capacity. We find out who we are in these
- 2:40seasons. We find out what we're capable
- 2:43of when we're uncomfortable. And sometimes we find out who we
- 2:49can be when we have to really stretch beyond those limits.
- 2:55So what if this furlough is less about what you lost or what's on
- 2:59hold and more about what you're about to be, about who you are
- 3:05becoming? What if this is the moment where
- 3:07God gives you the fresh ideas, the deeper wisdom, the renewed
- 3:11courage to step into what's next?
- 3:14So here's something you can do because you know, I'm all about
- 3:16practical application. So I want you to write down one
- 3:20vision that you've had on the back burner.
- 3:23You might need to go dig out an old journal or notebook or check
- 3:26the notes on your phone, but you're going to write it again.
- 3:29Write that vision down. Create a small, simple step by
- 3:33step planning and start building it now.
- 3:36And if you're not sure where to start, obviously, right, talk to
- 3:40God. He'll give you the vision,
- 3:41right? But also, if you just need help
- 3:44breaking it down into smaller steps, you can use all sorts of
- 3:48tools for that, right? For example, if you've dreamed
- 3:52about writing a book, outline your first chapter.
- 3:57If you've wanted to start a business, secure the name of the
- 4:00business or the domain name. If you've long to grow
- 4:04spiritually, commit to 15 minutes of prayer or journaling
- 4:09to God daily. And just in case, you know, I
- 4:12love that the 1% rule, that's doing something for 15 minutes a
- 4:17day. So this is a 1% commitment, 15
- 4:21minutes, one step at a time. It builds momentum and momentum
- 4:28brings breakthrough. Even if it is just 1%, you're 1%
- 4:33closer. You're 1% further than you were
- 4:36before that. So let me leave you with this.
- 4:39The furlough may have paused your paycheck, but has not
- 4:43paused your purpose. This is your time to build.
- 4:46While you wait. This is your time.
- 4:50So don't wait to build. Let us pray.
- 4:53Lord, we thank you for turning waiting seasons into building
- 4:58seasons. Show each person watching what
- 5:02they can plant right and creating this further.
- 5:06Give them clarity of vision, discipline to build and bake to
- 5:12wait on your appointed time in Jesus name, Amen.
- 5:16If this series has blessed you, please share this with someone
- 5:19that's walking through the fire alone so that they know that
- 5:22they are not alone. And make sure you're subscribed
- 5:27because more encouragement and biblical perspective is on the
- 5:30way. And remember, waiting is not
- 5:32wasted. Build while you wait because
- 5:35God's appointed time is coming. I love you and I hope this bless
- 5:41you. Take care, see you next time.
