- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome back, everybody to another kitchen edition to Stay Out
- 0:04Speaker 1: of My Fridge, The podcast where the Fridge is always
- 0:06Speaker 1: full of snacks, stories, and just enough chaos to keep
- 0:10Speaker 1: us laughing. Today, we're gonna talk about back to school vibes,
- 0:14Speaker 1: soccer seasons. Kicking off pun intended, Avery had a little
- 0:18Speaker 1: trip to Calypso we're gonna talk a little bit about
- 0:21Speaker 1: their SIMS obsession, and I have a brand new game
- 0:25Speaker 1: for us, guess that random nineties thing. It's gonna be fun.
- 0:29Speaker 1: It's gonna be hilarious. And you're probably wondering, who's here. Well,
- 0:31Speaker 1: spoiler alert already dropped Avery's name in the intro, So
- 0:35Speaker 1: Avery's back? What was that? Was that? Like a like
- 0:40Speaker 1: a dying?
- 0:43Speaker 2: I tried to say yeah, but it came out.
- 0:47Speaker 1: All right. Well, the you're probably thinking, what else? Who's here?
- 0:51Speaker 3: I'm here again, like I always am.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Oh there she is. She's here, Like you say it
- 0:56Speaker 1: like it's a bad thing.
- 0:57Speaker 3: I love recording with you.
- 1:00Speaker 1: What was that?
- 1:00Speaker 3: I love recruiting with it.
- 1:03Speaker 1: I know I was just telling Avery and I think
- 1:05Speaker 1: I was in here when I said, I just love
- 1:07Speaker 1: doing this show with you, knuckleheads. It's such a good time.
- 1:10Speaker 3: I don't think I was in here.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Hopefully everybody else enjoys it as well. So why don't we,
- 1:16Speaker 1: Why don't we just get right into this. I know
- 1:18Speaker 1: you guys are getting a little bit angry. You guys
- 1:20Speaker 1: are definitely ready for some lunch. So let's get right
- 1:24Speaker 1: back into the back to school buzz huh. We are
- 1:27Speaker 1: at the time of the recording less than probably about
- 1:31Speaker 1: a week and a half.
- 1:33Speaker 2: Probably time this recording comes out, it will be a
- 1:35Speaker 2: first day.
- 1:36Speaker 1: It'll be a week the time, exactly a week, be
- 1:39Speaker 1: exactly a week's what's crazy is a lot of my
- 1:41Speaker 1: buddies from other states their kids back to school. Yeah,
- 1:45Speaker 1: in the Southern States and stuff too. They get to back,
- 1:47Speaker 1: they get back, wish a little bit earlier than us,
- 1:51Speaker 1: but they get out earlier because it's out in May. Yeah,
- 1:54Speaker 1: so they like and our cousins in Texas and stuff
- 1:56Speaker 1: like that, they get out a little bit earlier.
- 1:58Speaker 3: I wish that would cook back to.
- 2:01Speaker 1: School, right, school, Maybe next year we'll send you to
- 2:03Speaker 1: summer school. Would you like that? All right? So you
- 2:07Speaker 1: don't miss it that much? But I'm really smart, So
- 2:10Speaker 1: let's let me ask you this. Who wants to start
- 2:12Speaker 1: with this. All right, it doesn't matter who. But at
- 2:15Speaker 1: the end of the day, like, what are you guys
- 2:16Speaker 1: excited about the most? I guess for going back to school.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Well, I'm going into middle school, so I'm excited that
- 2:23Speaker 2: I get freedom.
- 2:25Speaker 1: What do you mean you get freedom?
- 2:27Speaker 2: I don't have to walk in a single file line anymore.
- 2:30Speaker 1: That is true. That'll be cool, But there is with
- 2:32Speaker 1: with freedom does come responsibility? Correct, Like it's going to
- 2:36Speaker 1: be up to you to obviously get to your classes
- 2:39Speaker 1: in a timely matter and all that stuff. So yeah,
- 2:42Speaker 1: that'll be good. What else are you excited for.
- 2:46Speaker 2: To finally get new teachers? Yeah, because I haven't had
- 2:50Speaker 2: them in two years. But I enjoyed my latch two
- 2:53Speaker 2: years teachers. They've been my favorite for awesome.
- 2:58Speaker 1: All Right, you got a couple of things you're excited
- 3:00Speaker 1: for in avery. Obviously if you think of some more
- 3:02Speaker 1: things will pop in here. What are you excited for
- 3:04Speaker 1: them to school?
- 3:05Speaker 3: I'm really excited because I haven't seen my friends in
- 3:07Speaker 3: late two months. They did call one of them the
- 3:10Speaker 3: other day, Yeah, I was.
- 3:11Speaker 1: She pretty excited to hear from you.
- 3:13Speaker 3: Nice and she got braces.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Ooh be cool. If somebody else in this kitchen could
- 3:18Speaker 1: lose a couple more teeth and get some braces. It's
- 3:20Speaker 1: only been about two and a half years, but either way.
- 3:23Speaker 3: And I'm also excited because I'm the top, like of
- 3:27Speaker 3: the elementary because next because we start middle school in
- 3:33Speaker 3: fifth grade.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Isn't that crazy? Could you imagine being middle schooler in
- 3:36Speaker 1: fifth grade?
- 3:38Speaker 2: Yes, because we were. We did switch classes in fifth
- 3:43Speaker 2: and sixth grade, right, just not as many, gotcha.
- 3:47Speaker 1: What I truly like is the school that Avery goes to,
- 3:50Speaker 1: they put less kind of focus on homework and less
- 3:54Speaker 1: focus on a lot of that, where the school that
- 3:56Speaker 1: Ela goes to seems to be a little more homework driven.
- 4:00Speaker 1: And this is every day. Yeah this is coming from
- 4:02Speaker 1: me who hasn't been in school in twenty something years.
- 4:04Speaker 1: But I just I read something. Listen to this. Do
- 4:07Speaker 1: you guys know what an asylum is. Yeah, it's kind
- 4:09Speaker 1: of like a like a psych center, a place where
- 4:13Speaker 1: you know, people that have some mental issues they go
- 4:15Speaker 1: in there to get treatment and get help and stuff.
- 4:18Speaker 1: There was a study that came out that they said
- 4:20Speaker 1: the amount of students are expressing the same amount of
- 4:25Speaker 1: stress and anxiety and stuff like that. Nowadays, as people
- 4:30Speaker 1: that were institutionalized like in the fifties and sixties, because
- 4:33Speaker 1: they're putting so much stress on homework. They're putting so
- 4:35Speaker 1: much stress on you know, you have to have good grades,
- 4:38Speaker 1: and let's be honest, you guys are busy. I mean
- 4:41Speaker 1: three sport athletes homework this and that. Where I really
- 4:44Speaker 1: truly love the fact that Avery School doesn't go homework heavy.
- 4:49Speaker 1: I mean, you have enough opportunities, let's be honest, with
- 4:52Speaker 1: study halls, free time and stuff like that, to take advantage.
- 4:55Speaker 1: But I don't think everybody does.
- 4:56Speaker 3: I don't, and you should.
- 4:58Speaker 1: That'll be one thing that I think you'll have to
- 5:00Speaker 1: learn and Avery you'll get used to is take advantage
- 5:03Speaker 1: of those free times. Yeah, you might want to just
- 5:05Speaker 1: hang out. And I think it's gonna help too, because
- 5:06Speaker 1: in New York they banned cell phones from being used
- 5:10Speaker 1: in school. So I think that's gonna help a lot
- 5:12Speaker 1: of students be able to focus more, well focus more,
- 5:16Speaker 1: but be able to focus more on the task at
- 5:18Speaker 1: hand instead of just doom scrolling during study hall.
- 5:21Speaker 2: Yeah, we weren't allowed to do it anyways, because we've
- 5:25Speaker 2: had problems with it right in our school.
- 5:28Speaker 1: Yeah, So either way, that's that's that's exciting. So let
- 5:32Speaker 1: me ask you this. You get use anybody, you still
- 5:34Speaker 1: got some more exciting things you're that you're excited for
- 5:36Speaker 1: Besides school lunch? There anything? Is there any school lunches
- 5:39Speaker 1: that you, guys truly miss that you're like, I can't
- 5:42Speaker 1: wait for this day?
- 5:45Speaker 2: Well, I can't wait for any day.
- 5:48Speaker 1: I mean no, wait, wait, let's rewind it. I light
- 5:51Speaker 1: the rewind button.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Okay, I don't want I'm going to bring my lunch
- 5:59Speaker 2: every day to school because I'm not eating bag lunch
- 6:01Speaker 2: every single day.
- 6:03Speaker 1: Oh it's gonna be bagged every.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Day, that's what they're saying.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Well, let's figure it out, because school lunches are for
- 6:08Speaker 1: free for everybody again in New York, which they should
- 6:12Speaker 1: be free in my opinion, but either way. Okay, So
- 6:14Speaker 1: besides that eating bag lunch, what were you like, what's
- 6:18Speaker 1: a lunch that you just absolutely love at your school?
- 6:21Speaker 2: I really enjoy the alfredo okay, and the loaded chicken
- 6:30Speaker 2: bowl and turkey dinner.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Those are all solid choice.
- 6:33Speaker 3: I have something that I'm very excited to get back to.
- 6:37Speaker 1: Okay, let's talk about school lunch and then go back
- 6:39Speaker 1: to that if you don't mind that's what I'm talking about.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Oh okay, cool, So it's a double two birds, one stone.
- 6:44Speaker 3: I think I have three.
- 6:47Speaker 1: Okay, let's hit them.
- 6:48Speaker 3: The walking tacos they made, they made their doritos and
- 6:52Speaker 3: they smash them up and they put the stuff that
- 6:55Speaker 3: you want in them, and it's in a little doritos.
- 6:58Speaker 2: Our school discontinued those two years ago.
- 7:01Speaker 1: And I was so mad walking tacos. They soft tacos,
- 7:07Speaker 1: walk in taco and Hershey, yeah, I did all right,
- 7:10Speaker 1: walking tacos. That's oon. What's dose.
- 7:14Speaker 3: Their lasagna? That's the best thing I've ever had.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Okay, what's three?
- 7:20Speaker 3: I'm pretty sure? Oh yeah, it's their pizza.
- 7:23Speaker 1: And the launchables all right, all right, pretty good because.
- 7:26Speaker 3: They have four kinds of lunchables. They have raspberry, strawberry, like, yeah, strawberry, chocolate. No,
- 7:36Speaker 3: they don't have chocolate because it's not healthy.
- 7:41Speaker 1: Fair.
- 7:42Speaker 3: We have grape and we have a honeymoon. Really good.
- 7:49Speaker 2: You mean crustables.
- 7:51Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 7:52Speaker 2: I was confused when she started saying raspberry.
- 7:54Speaker 1: I'm like what, But it's funny because as soon as
- 7:57Speaker 1: she started saying that, my brain instantly knew crustables. And
- 8:00Speaker 1: have you guys seen the Crustable commercials during the Little
- 8:01Speaker 1: League World series Uncrustables, Uncrustable Sorry, where it's like the
- 8:05Speaker 1: original one and it's like a peanut butter and jelly
- 8:07Speaker 1: sandwich with the missing and it's like their buddy yes
- 8:10Speaker 1: and yeah, but hey, what have I always told you?
- 8:13Speaker 1: And my parents told me? If you eat your crust,
- 8:16Speaker 1: it puts hair on your chest? Can you tell hair?
- 8:19Speaker 1: Can you tell that I ate every piece of crust
- 8:21Speaker 1: possible and I still eat your piece of crust?
- 8:23Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 8:24Speaker 1: Yeah, some of my hair on my chest is I'm
- 8:26Speaker 1: getting so old it's starting to turn white? Is what
- 8:30Speaker 1: are you laughing at? I'm not happy about it.
- 8:34Speaker 3: I'm seeing your beard's gonna turn away.
- 8:37Speaker 1: Yeah, you see this white hair right here. This one's you,
- 8:39Speaker 1: this one's Avery, and all of these are Sissy. Hey,
- 8:42Speaker 1: shout out Sissy, because at the time of the recording,
- 8:45Speaker 1: I think she's gonna be able to drive. She turns
- 8:49Speaker 1: the one six this week, and at the time this
- 8:53Speaker 1: comes out, she's gonna be able to drive. How speaking
- 8:56Speaker 1: of nervous, will you guys be nervous if you're in
- 8:57Speaker 1: the car with Sissy driving?
- 8:59Speaker 3: Yes, I'm terrified She's I would have have you seen
- 9:02Speaker 3: her drive on? Have you seen her drive my grandma's
- 9:05Speaker 3: golf cart?
- 9:06Speaker 1: She's like, what is that the ambulance?
- 9:11Speaker 2: No, She's just like, but have you seen her drive
- 9:13Speaker 2: Papa's Ranger. She's pretty good at.
- 9:15Speaker 3: She's pretty good at that. But my grandma's but the
- 9:18Speaker 3: rat is not in good shape because of her, because
- 9:20Speaker 3: she's ah, you think it's her.
- 9:22Speaker 2: I think too.
- 9:23Speaker 1: Listen, let me be honest, can I can I be
- 9:25Speaker 1: honest right now? This is probably gonna upset you. I
- 9:27Speaker 1: think of the three drivers, I think she could turn
- 9:30Speaker 1: out to be the most responsibility.
- 9:32Speaker 2: I do too.
- 9:33Speaker 1: Of the three of you, I think you're gonna be
- 9:34Speaker 1: a little reckless. We're gonna have hard time. You might
- 9:36Speaker 1: even fail your first driver test. No, you're gonna pass
- 9:38Speaker 1: the permit test, no problem. You'll probably get by. You'll
- 9:41Speaker 1: be an okay driver. I'm a little worried about the
- 9:43Speaker 1: distracted driving, which we're gonna talk about. Low though, I
- 9:46Speaker 1: think is gonna be right by the books. She is
- 9:49Speaker 1: an old sol, she crochets. She is ready to do
- 9:53Speaker 1: this drive and have a little bit of freedom to
- 9:55Speaker 1: kind of go back to that. Like once you get
- 9:56Speaker 1: your license, you kind of get a little more free,
- 9:59Speaker 1: Like it's gonna be so awesome. I'd be like, I
- 10:01Speaker 1: don't want to go to the store and grab that.
- 10:03Speaker 3: Hell, yes, she loves driving or.
- 10:08Speaker 1: Avery needs a ride, he lood.
- 10:14Speaker 2: I think she be the best driver out of us too,
- 10:17Speaker 2: because she's had the most practiced and like she drives
- 10:22Speaker 2: like us kids around in the ranger all the time.
- 10:24Speaker 2: And she's been practicing, like the practice driver test for
- 10:27Speaker 2: a long time now, and she's been studying.
- 10:30Speaker 1: She's gonna be fine. Yeah, So at the time of
- 10:33Speaker 1: this this comes out, we could be listening to this
- 10:35Speaker 1: while Sissy's driving. How cool is that?
- 10:39Speaker 3: You're gonna make me cry?
- 10:40Speaker 1: That's okay, go ahead cry it out, all right? So
- 10:43Speaker 1: back to school. Anything you guys are nervous about by
- 10:45Speaker 1: any chance, Yes, what are you nervous about? Let's talk
- 10:47Speaker 1: about it.
- 10:48Speaker 2: I don't know how to undo a lock, and I
- 10:50Speaker 2: have to have it locked at all time.
- 10:52Speaker 1: It's so easy.
- 10:54Speaker 2: Same with me.
- 10:55Speaker 3: I have to lock my the locker room.
- 10:58Speaker 1: SLocker, SLocker locker, this locker, SLocker.
- 11:02Speaker 3: We have to change in the locker room this year.
- 11:04Speaker 3: So I think we're too.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Young, so it's super easy, right, Okay, it's a thing,
- 11:07Speaker 1: and it has a bunch of practiced.
- 11:11Speaker 3: Click.
- 11:12Speaker 2: I've practiced it on those locks that they gave the
- 11:15Speaker 2: sixth graders to practice on. I practiced so much I
- 11:18Speaker 2: finally got the hang of it. But I feel like
- 11:20Speaker 2: I'm just going to go back and not.
- 11:22Speaker 1: Can I be honest with you if that's the only
- 11:24Speaker 1: thing you're nervous about. And it's pretty good.
- 11:27Speaker 2: Because I get to travel with my friends because I'm
- 11:29Speaker 2: in pretty much every single class with my friend.
- 11:32Speaker 3: I'm nervous about that too, because I have to do
- 11:36Speaker 3: it this year and we didn't need.
- 11:37Speaker 2: To do it in fourth grade. For a locker room.
- 11:40Speaker 2: We have to do the gym locker.
- 11:42Speaker 3: We have to change in the locker room.
- 11:44Speaker 1: This year because you guys are getting older. So when
- 11:47Speaker 1: you go to gym class, you come out think, so.
- 11:49Speaker 3: We have to change into other class.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Do you know what's crazy? When I was going to
- 11:53Speaker 1: school and you had gym class, you had to shower
- 11:55Speaker 1: after gym class before you would go.
- 11:57Speaker 3: I know my mom said when she was younger, was
- 12:00Speaker 3: like showers around it, and you had a shower in there,
- 12:03Speaker 3: and if you didn't take a shower, you get a
- 12:05Speaker 3: bad grade and you don't pass.
- 12:06Speaker 1: We shower. No, it's crazy, this is gonna sound weird, but.
- 12:09Speaker 3: We don't shower.
- 12:10Speaker 1: We are not going to So when we played, obviously
- 12:13Speaker 1: we played basketball. So when you went to the other
- 12:15Speaker 1: schools boys basketball, you changed in the girls locker room
- 12:20Speaker 1: because the other team changed in the boys there's no
- 12:22Speaker 1: girls in there. But after games, I didn't want to stink,
- 12:25Speaker 1: so we would all shower too, and then we put
- 12:27Speaker 1: our night because we dressed up shirt tie, nice clothes.
- 12:30Speaker 1: So after games, we'd shower and we'd come out and
- 12:33Speaker 1: wear So I've showered in the girl's locker room at
- 12:36Speaker 1: your school and my school in your well, your locker
- 12:40Speaker 1: rooms are gone, but now they are now they are.
- 12:43Speaker 1: But yeah, so but either way, I'm.
- 12:46Speaker 3: Interesting, right, I'm pretty excited, good good, good good. And
- 12:51Speaker 3: I get to like do the coach, and I'm actually
- 12:54Speaker 3: really excited about that.
- 12:56Speaker 1: Nice. Is there any like back to school first day
- 13:00Speaker 1: back to school traditions that you do or that you
- 13:03Speaker 1: really like? You know, do you guys have your outfits
- 13:05Speaker 1: picked out or anything like that or would go out
- 13:07Speaker 1: of the game.
- 13:08Speaker 2: Oh, I have got it when I went with my mom.
- 13:12Speaker 1: Okay, I don't want to hear it because I want
- 13:14Speaker 1: to be surprised. But that's cool. You got there. Any
- 13:15Speaker 1: traditions that you do, I know usually at your mom's
- 13:18Speaker 1: house you do the chalkboard thing where you're right what
- 13:20Speaker 1: you're gonna do, so don't tell me that. I would
- 13:22Speaker 1: love to do it. We started a new tradition with
- 13:24Speaker 1: Ila last year. We took the first day picture and
- 13:26Speaker 1: then I digitally put all of the stuff like your teacher,
- 13:29Speaker 1: your grade, what you want to be, all that stuff.
- 13:32Speaker 1: I digitally did it. We don't didn't have the board,
- 13:34Speaker 1: so I'm going to continue to do that.
- 13:36Speaker 3: You also did. Oh no, that was my grandma. She
- 13:38Speaker 3: took the first day of picture, first day of school
- 13:40Speaker 3: picture and like printed a really pretty background behind it.
- 13:44Speaker 1: Yep, So well we'll do stuff like that, all right,
- 13:46Speaker 1: and uh okay cool? Anything else you guys want to
- 13:49Speaker 1: do it? Back to school or shall we move on
- 13:51Speaker 1: to like soccer season and stuff like that?
- 13:54Speaker 3: Wait?
- 13:55Speaker 2: Can I say what I'm going to bring? One thing
- 13:57Speaker 2: I'm going to bring in my lunch absolutely a tomato
- 14:00Speaker 2: mayonnaise sandwich. That's what I'm going to the other day
- 14:03Speaker 2: she had a plain.
- 14:07Speaker 3: Mayonnaise.
- 14:07Speaker 1: You alady, hit the rewine button.
- 14:10Speaker 2: I don't know how to do it.
- 14:12Speaker 3: She had a sandwich, a mayonnaise sandwich, just plain mayonnaise sandwich.
- 14:17Speaker 2: Because we didn't have tomatoes.
- 14:19Speaker 3: You could have had something else, but you're like, oh, loves,
- 14:22Speaker 3: just have a mayonnaise.
- 14:24Speaker 1: We have limited supplies in the fridge. We do have anyways,
- 14:27Speaker 1: nobody cares what we have in our fridge. Right now,
- 14:29Speaker 1: let's move on soccer season starting. Sissy's already got a
- 14:32Speaker 1: weekend at the time of the recording. They already had
- 14:34Speaker 1: a game. Actually didn't know what the day of the recording.
- 14:38Speaker 1: It's Meg's birthday. A singer.
- 14:40Speaker 4: Happy Birthday, Happy birthdayyayday, Happy say.
- 15:06Speaker 1: How old are you know?
- 15:07Speaker 2: She's old?
- 15:08Speaker 1: Anyways, Happy birthday back, We love you. Hopefully you'll listen
- 15:11Speaker 1: to this on your actual birth.
- 15:13Speaker 3: On her birthday. I'm also getting my hair dyed.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Top secret. We'll talk about that later, okay, And it's
- 15:22Speaker 1: kind I'm so excited for it. But either way, soccer
- 15:25Speaker 1: season at the time of the recording too Apriel'll be
- 15:26Speaker 1: on day four. How sore you think you'd be on
- 15:28Speaker 1: day four?
- 15:29Speaker 2: I'm very sore.
- 15:30Speaker 1: What do you think the most important thing that you
- 15:32Speaker 1: can do to battle it because I'm gonna tell you this,
- 15:34Speaker 1: and I hope Sissy listens to this only one part.
- 15:37Speaker 1: Were you here the other day? When she goes, I
- 15:38Speaker 1: hate to admit this, but you were right. She told
- 15:41Speaker 1: me I was right because she was super sore obviously
- 15:43Speaker 1: for at couple of days of soccer, a little bit rough.
- 15:45Speaker 1: It's a different running. Even if you play sofball all
- 15:47Speaker 1: summer basketball, it's a different running. She was sore, so
- 15:50Speaker 1: I said, you got to stretch. You gotta get in
- 15:52Speaker 1: the sauna, sweat it out for ten minutes, get out
- 15:54Speaker 1: instantly stretched, you'll be fine. She listened, and guess what happened.
- 15:59Speaker 1: It works. That's what I'm That's what we're gonna do here.
- 16:01Speaker 1: You're here at the house for the first week. You're
- 16:03Speaker 1: gonna get done soccer. You're gonna stretch it out, lots
- 16:05Speaker 1: and lots of water, which starts today. Every day, drink
- 16:07Speaker 1: more water than you normally do. Stretch. Then when you're done,
- 16:11Speaker 1: you're gonna stretch. You're gonna sauna. You're gonna stretch. You'll
- 16:14Speaker 1: have no soreness. And you can think to me, it
- 16:17Speaker 1: works if you don't believe me, as Sissy That's why
- 16:20Speaker 1: when I get off the treadmill, what's the first thing
- 16:21Speaker 1: I don takes the soreness out? Kids? All right? Anything
- 16:27Speaker 1: soccer related? I mean, obviously you haven't started that. We're
- 16:31Speaker 1: gonna do some practices and you got a fun team. Yeah.
- 16:34Speaker 2: So, my little sister has her first soccer game on
- 16:39Speaker 2: the day of my first practice, and her starts at
- 16:42Speaker 2: the same time as mine. I'm pretty sure. So I'm
- 16:44Speaker 2: gonna run by her game. Nice because the track we
- 16:48Speaker 2: run it goes by the little kids soccer field.
- 16:51Speaker 1: We at least you get to see it while you
- 16:52Speaker 1: run by it, right, And remember, guys and girls, sometimes
- 16:57Speaker 1: you just have to push through it. I mean, there's
- 16:59Speaker 1: gonna be time where things are going to get difficult.
- 17:02Speaker 1: And I'm going to tell you right now, when you
- 17:03Speaker 1: feel like quitting and you feel like you can't run anymore,
- 17:06Speaker 1: just keep going. You won't not run. Your legs will
- 17:10Speaker 1: keep working, trust me, all right? Anything else about soccer
- 17:13Speaker 1: you want to keep flying into the next one? Fly
- 17:16Speaker 1: all right? Once you give us a little recap. You
- 17:18Speaker 1: averily recently went to a trip to Calypso with a
- 17:22Speaker 1: with a friend from the softball team and shout out
- 17:25Speaker 1: to them. That was awesome that they invited. You got
- 17:28Speaker 1: to go to a little sleepover stuff like that first
- 17:30Speaker 1: sleepover in the Brazier Brazier area, So pretty cool. Clipso.
- 17:37Speaker 1: One thing that you said to me is I'm going
- 17:40Speaker 1: to tell them a little bit of a story. When
- 17:41Speaker 1: Avery was two years old, we went up with the
- 17:44Speaker 1: lad Sales to Calypso. The first thing kind of like
- 17:48Speaker 1: we talked about in Hershey with Aila. The first thing
- 17:50Speaker 1: Avery sees is one of the tallest water sides in
- 17:53Speaker 1: the entire park, the ones where you have to like
- 17:55Speaker 1: cross your arms and go down just on your back.
- 17:58Speaker 1: And Avery was terrible fight that all of the rides
- 18:01Speaker 1: were like that, and refused to do anything but the
- 18:04Speaker 1: wave pool and the Lazy River. Right. And then you
- 18:09Speaker 1: told me that when you got into Calypso you had flashbacks.
- 18:14Speaker 3: When you got into Calypso. I have one question. Did
- 18:17Speaker 3: you do the water slide that you the tallest? Right down?
- 18:22Speaker 2: I was going to, but my friend is too scared.
- 18:24Speaker 1: I'm too scared.
- 18:26Speaker 2: It's not tall at all. It's pall, No, it's not.
- 18:31Speaker 1: Okay, we must be talking about something different.
- 18:34Speaker 2: No, the ones were the ones where you cross your arms,
- 18:38Speaker 2: cross your legs, stand there on the platform beneath you.
- 18:41Speaker 1: Just I don't know. It's the one that's so high,
- 18:43Speaker 1: is there you have to sign a waiver to even
- 18:44Speaker 1: go on it.
- 18:46Speaker 2: Then they don't have that because it's not that.
- 18:48Speaker 1: High, gotcha? So overall experience much better this time, right,
- 18:53Speaker 1: was the highlight of the day besides poutine. And I
- 18:58Speaker 1: forgot to ask you. So if anybody that doesn't know,
- 18:59Speaker 1: I been trying to get Avery to stop doing TikTok
- 19:03Speaker 1: dances and start doing poutine reviews, or at least have
- 19:06Speaker 1: a side thing where she has a playlist for them.
- 19:08Speaker 1: She loves Putine or Putin if you're in Canada, right,
- 19:13Speaker 1: So where does this one rank?
- 19:15Speaker 2: Number two?
- 19:16Speaker 1: Number two? So what was the rating for it? If
- 19:18Speaker 1: you had to give it one through ten? I would
- 19:21Speaker 1: like it in America, not Canadian? Please?
- 19:27Speaker 2: Eight point two?
- 19:28Speaker 1: All right? Point two? All of a sudden, she went southern.
- 19:31Speaker 1: Just not not a not a thing there? All right?
- 19:35Speaker 1: So eight point two second place? First place is iron
- 19:39Speaker 1: Hoist in Morristown, New York. All right, So recap, I
- 19:43Speaker 1: guess on that for you, like your trip to Clipsom.
- 19:48Speaker 2: I don't know how to do a reclip.
- 19:51Speaker 1: I mean, like, what are what was what was your
- 19:53Speaker 1: favorite ride recap on Tallest one, tallest one? Was it
- 19:57Speaker 1: on a tube or just you? You?
- 19:58Speaker 2: You and your body on a tube?
- 20:00Speaker 1: Two?
- 20:00Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 20:01Speaker 1: Gotcha? Okay, that's fun, beautiful day, A couple of lines.
- 20:05Speaker 1: They had to wait about an hour, hour and a
- 20:07Speaker 1: half is what it is. But you were pretty excited
- 20:11Speaker 1: that you got a little bit of a tan, so
- 20:12Speaker 1: that's cool. Right.
- 20:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 20:15Speaker 2: Oh wait, I think I know what side you're talking about.
- 20:19Speaker 2: It's a really tall one. It's like the tall as
- 20:21Speaker 2: tall as the other tallest one that I went on.
- 20:24Speaker 2: And you go down without a tube and it goes
- 20:28Speaker 2: like straight down.
- 20:30Speaker 1: Yeah, that's exactly.
- 20:31Speaker 2: It's like it's like tubed and then it opens up
- 20:36Speaker 2: and you can just see yourself shooting down that one. Yeah,
- 20:40Speaker 2: they're getting rid of it because someone got hurt on it,
- 20:43Speaker 2: so they're getting rid of it.
- 20:45Speaker 1: By okay, they got hurts. You know, you sign a waiver.
- 20:49Speaker 1: It's a scary one.
- 20:50Speaker 2: Like I said, it literally drops straight.
- 20:54Speaker 1: But either way, I'm glad that you're bere a lot
- 20:57Speaker 1: more mature, a lot more brave.
- 20:59Speaker 2: And I've love water slides.
- 21:01Speaker 1: She loves water slides. See, sometimes you just got to
- 21:04Speaker 1: get over your fear isila and just try it out
- 21:06Speaker 1: before you realize how much fun you truly can have.
- 21:10Speaker 1: All right, So I was gonna do a little thing
- 21:12Speaker 1: about your little sims life shenanigans, but I think maybe
- 21:16Speaker 1: we'll save it for the next time. Yeah, you guys
- 21:18Speaker 1: are getting a little bit hungry. You guys are gonna
- 21:19Speaker 1: realize I say, we get into the game. Okay, all right,
- 21:21Speaker 1: how's that sounds. Yeah, So the way this is gonna go,
- 21:23Speaker 1: I'm gonna kind of host this game. I'm gonna describe
- 21:26Speaker 1: or give kind of just some clues about some stuff
- 21:29Speaker 1: from the nineties, and you guys are gonna have to
- 21:31Speaker 1: guess what it is. Points don't matter, there's no prize,
- 21:35Speaker 1: there's no here. This is just for bragging rights. Do
- 21:38Speaker 1: you know what bragging rights are?
- 21:39Speaker 3: Yes, it's where like you have the right to be
- 21:43Speaker 3: able to brag at somebody like I want and you lost.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Well, that's just being a poor sport. But close enough. Anyways,
- 21:50Speaker 1: all right, let's jump into this. All right. So these
- 21:55Speaker 1: we're little colorful we'll say, discs, and you could trace them,
- 22:00Speaker 1: you could stack them, you could flip them, but mostly
- 22:03Speaker 1: they just ended up lost under a couch or somewhere.
- 22:08Speaker 3: What are they you?
- 22:11Speaker 1: No, no, they you had a slammer? Yeah, oh man,
- 22:20Speaker 1: this is an interesting one. Like I said, you would
- 22:22Speaker 1: stack them up and then you would knock them down.
- 22:27Speaker 1: I have no idea rex You think that we just
- 22:29Speaker 1: played we were We had no toys that we just
- 22:31Speaker 1: played with rex Les not legos. No, they didn't lock
- 22:35Speaker 1: into each other. And you could buy a kit and
- 22:38Speaker 1: make your own of these. You start them in tubes.
- 22:43Speaker 1: Quarters No, not quarters? No, you you think you could
- 22:46Speaker 1: make your own if you made your own money. It's
- 22:48Speaker 1: a federal offense. You'd go to jail and you can
- 22:50Speaker 1: maybe be in one of Mister Beasts videos, the jail one. Nothing.
- 22:57Speaker 3: Mm hmm.
- 23:00Speaker 4: Maybe you guys have never heard of the I used
- 23:03Speaker 4: to have a lot of these.
- 23:04Speaker 1: They probably still have some Anima's basement.
- 23:09Speaker 3: All right.
- 23:10Speaker 1: I stumped you on the first one. POGs. Have you
- 23:15Speaker 1: ever heard of POGs? I wish I had the TV
- 23:18Speaker 1: going behind. That's what we forgot to do here. This
- 23:20Speaker 1: is what POGs look like. They were these little circle things.
- 23:29Speaker 2: Like this, so they kind of looked like quarters.
- 23:33Speaker 1: They kind of do, but they were they were bigger.
- 23:35Speaker 1: They were more like half dollars, but some of them
- 23:37Speaker 1: were weighted so you would stack them up. You'd use
- 23:39Speaker 1: your slammer. Oh, it was, it was. It was pretty cool.
- 23:45Speaker 1: It had to be there. I mean, we didn't have
- 23:46Speaker 1: cell phones, so we had to we had to, we
- 23:52Speaker 1: had to be creative. POGs were big. I can't believe
- 23:54Speaker 1: it didn't. It's also known as milk caps. It's a
- 23:57Speaker 1: game with small circle cardboarder plastic. This player stacked to
- 24:01Speaker 1: POGs and use a heavier slammer disc to flip them over.
- 24:04Speaker 1: Winning is determined by the number of POGs flipped face up,
- 24:08Speaker 1: so you would stack them up, hit them all the
- 24:10Speaker 1: ones up. What's your score?
- 24:12Speaker 2: I've heard the milk thing whatever, yeah, from somebody, but
- 24:16Speaker 2: I don't.
- 24:16Speaker 1: Well. They also in certain places they play milk cap
- 24:19Speaker 1: baseball or softball, so you throw the milk cap and
- 24:21Speaker 1: you have to hit it with a stick. All right,
- 24:25Speaker 1: Moving on to number two. This was a toy that
- 24:28Speaker 1: has I guess made a resurgence, not a toy. It
- 24:32Speaker 1: could be a toy, could be an accessory, but you
- 24:36Speaker 1: kind of slapped it on a bracelets. Nailed it slap bracelets.
- 24:44Speaker 2: I'm not from the nineties.
- 24:45Speaker 1: Yeah, but you've seen those. Remember, you guys are trying
- 24:48Speaker 1: to tell me that every single slap bracelet is a
- 24:51Speaker 1: ruler inside or a measure. What am I try a
- 24:54Speaker 1: tape measure inside?
- 24:55Speaker 2: No, it's a ruler.
- 24:57Speaker 1: Well it would it be the tape measure that goes
- 24:59Speaker 1: in there?
- 25:00Speaker 3: I opened.
- 25:02Speaker 1: They were big, they were fashionable. They were a little painful,
- 25:04Speaker 1: but yeah, it would come in. You've seen them before
- 25:05Speaker 1: we get snapped.
- 25:06Speaker 2: Yes, I know. I used to wear them as my
- 25:08Speaker 2: blink blank, my blink blank. I have so many of them.
- 25:12Speaker 1: You guys are one for one? Are you ready?
- 25:16Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 25:18Speaker 1: You got one right, one wrong, one for one, one
- 25:21Speaker 1: for two. I guess technically all right. So this was
- 25:23Speaker 1: a square piece of plastic that you could stick in
- 25:26Speaker 1: a car, you could stick in a walkman, and it
- 25:30Speaker 1: typically always unraveled at the worst time possible.
- 25:34Speaker 2: A yo yo?
- 25:35Speaker 1: No, you would you stick a yo yo in your car?
- 25:39Speaker 1: Or a walkman.
- 25:40Speaker 2: I don't know what a walkman is.
- 25:42Speaker 1: You don't know what a walkman is? Oh my gosh,
- 25:46Speaker 1: I guess I should have probably tried to describe that
- 25:48Speaker 1: to you. Sometimes you would have to take a pencil
- 25:52Speaker 1: and rewind it and you guesses watch. You think you
- 26:00Speaker 1: could take a pencil and rewind a watch only in
- 26:03Speaker 1: the nineties, I mean you could. They're still kind of around.
- 26:07Speaker 1: I don't think we have any, and we do have
- 26:10Speaker 1: at least one in this house. Meg actually bought me
- 26:15Speaker 1: one of these for a present not too long ago.
- 26:20Speaker 1: It's in the studio. It's masked intruders. Do you give up? Yes,
- 26:28Speaker 1: a cassette tape. That's how we used to play music.
- 26:31Speaker 1: So they actually had it on tape, so it would
- 26:36Speaker 1: spin and you would put it in a walkman, which
- 26:38Speaker 1: was a portable device. You would put the cassette and
- 26:40Speaker 1: click it. You could press play, stop, pause, rewind, and
- 26:44Speaker 1: you had wired headphones and that's how you would listen
- 26:46Speaker 1: to me.
- 26:46Speaker 2: I was stuck on like a wire unrolling or a
- 26:49Speaker 2: string unrolling.
- 26:50Speaker 1: Yeah, let's move on to number four. These came in
- 26:55Speaker 1: shiny foil packs and you might have traded them at
- 26:58Speaker 1: recess like they were stocks on Wall Street. Football cards
- 27:03Speaker 1: close they had. These have made a huge comeback as
- 27:07Speaker 1: well as football cards Pokemon cards. My next well, I
- 27:11Speaker 1: know you guys are both gonna.
- 27:12Speaker 3: Get I wasn't like sure, and then once you said
- 27:16Speaker 3: they're kind of coming back.
- 27:17Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, they're all the way back. Huh. All right,
- 27:20Speaker 1: let's let's rolling the number five.
- 27:22Speaker 3: You guys ready, people are going to collect them like crazy.
- 27:25Speaker 1: Now, yeah, they heard it here in State of the
- 27:27Speaker 1: Fridgs are going to collect more great Moving on number five.
- 27:29Speaker 1: This was a show about six friends that lived in
- 27:31Speaker 1: New York and everyone copied the haircut of one of
- 27:35Speaker 1: the characters. What is the show? What is the character?
- 27:37Speaker 2: Friend?
- 27:39Speaker 1: Boom, there's the show? What's the character?
- 27:41Speaker 3: Oh?
- 27:42Speaker 2: Aunt KK is obsessed or was obsessed with Friends, and
- 27:46Speaker 2: she told me all about this and I just don't
- 27:48Speaker 2: remember it.
- 27:49Speaker 1: It was a pretty iconic character with a pretty iconic haircut.
- 27:55Speaker 3: Mmm.
- 27:57Speaker 1: The actress I never watched Friends. The actress his name
- 28:00Speaker 1: is Jennifer Aniston.
- 28:02Speaker 3: If that helps, I've never watched it.
- 28:05Speaker 1: Make aunt KK proud, Avery, you don't know it's the
- 28:10Speaker 1: Rachel haircuts. All the girls wanted the Rachel. And there's
- 28:15Speaker 1: actually a sandwich. I believe that is the Rachel.
- 28:17Speaker 2: But I don't think I've never watched Friends before.
- 28:21Speaker 1: All right, we got two more. Let's fly through this.
- 28:23Speaker 1: This drink was Neon green and probably not FDA approved,
- 28:29Speaker 1: but I tell you what. We loved it anyways, and
- 28:32Speaker 1: we they brought this back, and I believe we did
- 28:34Speaker 1: have this in the house at one time. Mmm. Some
- 28:42Speaker 1: of the character and everything was slimer.
- 28:50Speaker 3: I kind of liked have a picture of my mind.
- 28:52Speaker 1: But did you say poop?
- 28:56Speaker 2: I said, goop, give up.
- 28:59Speaker 1: Slimer slime liquor. No, this was like kids drink it.
- 29:05Speaker 1: Kids weren't drinking liquor in the nineties.
- 29:07Speaker 2: Wait, is it like that? Bug juice kind of.
- 29:13Speaker 1: Had a very specific name that if they when they
- 29:17Speaker 1: came back with every nineties kid hugs. No, they'll take
- 29:22Speaker 1: one of those later. I'll give you the answer, because
- 29:23Speaker 1: I think you won't get this. It was called Ecto
- 29:25Speaker 1: Cooler high See Ecto Cooler high seed doesn't ring a bell. No,
- 29:31Speaker 1: let me share this Ecto so here.
- 29:37Speaker 2: Bug juice was my childhood.
- 29:39Speaker 1: I know, see the high Sea, the slimer. Here's the
- 29:43Speaker 1: camera Ecto Cooler. Well, they came back. They came back
- 29:47Speaker 1: with it with a little bit different and sometimes they
- 29:49Speaker 1: could sell it in those like cardboard juice boxes as well.
- 29:52Speaker 1: We got one more what what you got?
- 29:56Speaker 3: Same with avery. I would bring every time we want
- 29:59Speaker 3: to stores. I would always got a juice bug bug juices.
- 30:04Speaker 1: That's not really I don't think that was really a
- 30:06Speaker 1: nineties thing.
- 30:07Speaker 2: I know, but that was my child twelve.
- 30:10Speaker 1: You're still a child.
- 30:11Speaker 3: Child, that's what I would dress.
- 30:13Speaker 2: I'm not a child, so you can't call me a child.
- 30:16Speaker 1: Next year, you're still a child till you're eighteen.
- 30:18Speaker 2: No, I'm not a child. I'm a teenager next year.
- 30:22Speaker 3: Anyways, you're a tween right now.
- 30:24Speaker 1: Last one, number seven, lucky seven. You guys have to
- 30:27Speaker 1: get this one right. Focus. It's a video game or
- 30:31Speaker 1: a plumber Comboy eight mushrooms.
- 30:34Speaker 3: Marketers, Oh Mario, alright, that was good.
- 30:43Speaker 1: That was good. That was a lot of fun.
- 30:44Speaker 2: You were going to say, a game boy or whatever
- 30:46Speaker 2: they're called. Yeah, those nineties or eighties or seventies or six.
- 30:51Speaker 1: I don't know exactly when they get They were probably
- 30:53Speaker 1: prevalent in the eighties, definitely the nineties. We still have
- 30:56Speaker 1: a game boy in this.
- 30:57Speaker 3: I have a fake game boy.
- 30:58Speaker 1: Fake game boy.
- 30:59Speaker 3: All right, it's purple unclear?
- 31:01Speaker 1: All right, Well listen, it's almost past lunchtime. You guys
- 31:05Speaker 1: made it without arguing or being angry, So I say,
- 31:08Speaker 1: you know what I want to say this? All right,
- 31:10Speaker 1: stay out of my fridge because I'm gonna make some lunch.
- 31:13Speaker 1: You guys, stay out of there, and we're gonna have
- 31:15Speaker 1: something delicious. And we're gonna come up with something a
- 31:18Speaker 1: little cool and a little crazy for lunch, a little different,
- 31:20Speaker 1: something a little healthier with some vegetables and stuff, maybe too,
- 31:24Speaker 1: not just pop tarts and peanut butter toast and bagels.
- 31:29Speaker 1: But either way, this was fun. I can't wait to
- 31:31Speaker 1: do this again. Next week we'll come out with another one, well,
- 31:36Speaker 1: the recamp of how was the first day at school?
- 31:38Speaker 1: How soccer going?
- 31:39Speaker 3: Another game?
- 31:40Speaker 1: Another game, and we'll see what else is uh pops
- 31:43Speaker 1: up in our busy lives.
- 31:44Speaker 3: Sorry, and I have one more thing. Make sure I
- 31:47Speaker 3: tell your friends about all this podcast.
- 31:50Speaker 1: Yeah, tell all your friends, your grandma, your aunt, your uncle,
- 31:53Speaker 1: and the person that's sitting to your left right now, no, no, no,
- 31:58Speaker 1: or the right tell them both. Maybe you're on the
- 32:00Speaker 1: school bus, tell them all and watch this on the
- 32:03Speaker 1: way to school, because you can't be on your phone
- 32:06Speaker 1: while you're in school. Anything else?
- 32:09Speaker 3: Yep?
- 32:10Speaker 1: Well, by all right, we'll see you next week. Take
