March 26 - Listening Before the Damage Is Done · Bible Chat Devotional

• 0:02
Welcome to Bible Chat where we have.
• 0:04
Devotional conversations rooted in Scripture and relevant for
• 0:07
today, March 26th. The power of listening.
• 0:13
There is a. Big difference between hearing
• 0:15
words and actually listening. You can hear your name called,
• 0:19
hear advice given, hear truth spoken, and still not let any of
• 0:22
it reach your heart and honestly.
• 0:25
A lot of life pushes. Us in that direction, we are
• 0:28
surrounded by opinions, pressure, noise and endless
• 0:31
voices telling us what matters, what success looks like and how.
• 0:35
We should live in the middle. Of all that noise, learning to
• 0:39
listen well is a spiritual strength.
• 0:42
  Proverbs, chapter 13, verses 1 to 2.
• 0:44
  Says a wise. Son hears.
• 0:46
  His father's. Instruction.
• 0:48
But a scoffer does not listen to rebuke from the fruit of his
• 0:52
  mouth. A man eats.
• 0:53
Good, that shows us that. Listening and speaking are
• 0:56
deeply connected. What you are willing to receive
• 0:59
shapes what comes out of. You a teachable heart produces
• 1:03
healthier words, wiser choices. And better outcomes.
• 1:07
But a proud heart. Resists correction and often
• 1:09
creates pain that did not need to happen then we.
• 1:13
Look at judges. Chapters 11:50 and see Jeff Toss
• 1:16
  stepping into a difficult moment.
• 1:18
There was conflict, pressure, and real responsibility.
• 1:22
In times like that, courage matters.
• 1:25
But courage without. Wisdom can become reckless.
• 1:28
The lesson here is not just about action.
• 1:31
It is about listening to God, receiving guidance, and then
• 1:35
moving forward in obedience. Some battles are won before they
• 1:38
begin because someone had the humility to listen first.
• 1:42
That matters in. Everyday life too.
• 1:45
Listening can save you from regret.
• 1:47
Listening to godly correction can keep you from repeating the
• 1:50
same mistake. Listening to wise voices can
• 1:53
  protect your. Future.
• 1:55
Listening to God's Word can steady your heart when emotions
• 1:58
are loud and decisions feel confusing and listening takes
• 2:02
humility. It means admitting you do not
• 2:04
know everything. It means being open to
• 2:07
correction. It means slowing down enough to
• 2:10
hear what God may be saying through.
• 2:12
Scripture through wise. People and through the gentle
• 2:15
  conviction of the. Holy Spirit.
• 2:18
The truth is not. Every loud voice.
• 2:20
Deserves your attention. But God's voice does.
• 2:22
His wisdom builds you. His truth guards you.
• 2:25
His guidance leads you into peace and strength, so do not
• 2:29
just react to every opinion around you.
• 2:32
Learn to listen well. Because the choice.
• 2:34
To listen can shape the direction of your life more than
• 2:36
  you. Realize let's.
• 2:38
Pray Heavenly Father, thank you for speaking truth, wisdom, and
• 2:43
life into my heart. Help me to be teachable and
• 2:45
humble, willing to listen when You correct me and guide me.
• 2:49
Guard me from pride that ignores wisdom and teach me to hear.
• 2:53
Your voice. Above the noise around me, let
• 2:55
my life be shaped by your truth and lead me in the path that
• 2:58
honors you in Jesus name, Amen. What if the most important
• 3:04
question in your life deserves more than a shallow answer?
• 3:07
Does God Exist is a powerful, thought provoking series that
• 3:11

• 3:15
human experience, and scripture without preaching pressure or

assumptions. Book 1, Something from Nothing,
• 3:22
confronts the mystery of existence itself and asks why
• 3:25
anything exists at all. Book 2, The Cause behind the
• 3:28
Cosmos, examines the origin of the universe and whether it
• 3:31
points beyond itself. Book 3, Design or Accident,
• 3:35
  wrestles with order and complexity.
• 3:38
Are they products of chance or intelligence?
• 3:40
Book 4, The Moral Signature, explores why objective right and
• 3:43
wrong may require a source beyond human opinion.
• 3:47
Book 5, The God We Cannot Escape, considers conscience,
• 3:50
longing, and humanity's persistent awareness of God.
• 3:53
Book 6, From Reason to Revelation, asks whether the God
• 3:57
who exists would also speak. And Book 7, Denying God,
• 4:01
examines the internal tensions of unbelief in the deeper
• 4:03
  implications of rejecting the divine.
• 4:06
Written in clear, accessible language for seekers, skeptics,
• 4:09
students, and curious minds, this series invites honest
• 4:13

  Judges, Chapters 11:50. World English.
• 4:47
Bible after Abimelech Tolah, the son of Puah, the son of Dodo, a
• 4:51
man of Issachar. Arose to save Israel.
• 4:54
He lived in Shamir in the Hill Country of Ephraim.
• 4:57
He judged Israel. 23 years and died and was buried in Shamir.
• 5:01
After him, Jair the Jilidite arose.
• 5:04
He judged Israel. 22 years. He had thirty sons who rode on
• 5:08
30 donkey Colts. They had 30 cities which are
• 5:11
called Haveoth Jair to this. Day which are in the land of
• 5:14
Gilead. Jair died and was buried in
• 5:16
Camen. The children of Israel again did
• 5:19
that which was evil in Yahweh's sight and served.
• 5:22
The Bales, the Ashtaroth, the gods of Syria, The gods of
• 5:25
Sidon, The gods of Moab, the gods.
• 5:28
Of the children of Ammon and the gods of the Philistines, they
• 5:31
abandoned Yahweh and didn't serve him.
• 5:33
Yahweh's anger burned against Israel, and he sold them into
• 5:37
the hand of the Philistines and into the hand of the children of
• 5:40
Ammon. They troubled and oppressed the
• 5:42
  children of. Israel that year.
• 5:44
For 18 years they oppressed all the children of Israel that were
• 5:48
beyond the Jordan in the land of the Amorites, which is in.
• 5:51
Gilead The. Children of Ammon passed over
• 5:53
the Jordan to fight also against Judah, and against Benjamin, and
• 5:57
against the House of Ephraim, so that.
• 5:59
Israel was very distressed the. Children of Israel.
• 6:02
Cried to Yahweh. Saying we have sinned against
• 6:05
  you. Even because we.
• 6:06
Have forsaken our God and have. Served the bales, Yahweh said to
• 6:10
the. Children of Israel, didn't I
• 6:12
save you from the Egyptians and from the Amorites, from the
• 6:15
children of Ammon and from the Philistines, the Sidonians also,
• 6:18
And the Amalkites? And the Malnites oppressed you,
• 6:21
and you cried to me, and I saved you out of their hand.
• 6:24
Yet you have. Forsaken me and.
• 6:25
Served other gods, therefore. I will save you no more.
• 6:29
Go and cry to the gods. Which you have chosen, Let them
• 6:32
save you in the time of your distress, The children of
• 6:34
  Israel. Said to Yahweh.
• 6:36
We have sinned. Due to us whatever seems good.
• 6:38
To you only. Deliver us, please.
• 6:40
Today they put. Away the foreign gods from among
• 6:43
  them, and served. Yahweh.
• 6:45
And his soul was grieved for the misery.
• 6:47
Of Israel. Then the children of Ammon.
• 6:49
Were gathered together. And encamped in.
• 6:51
Gilead The. Children of Israel assembled
• 6:54
themselves together and encamped in Mizpah.
• 6:57
The people, the Princess of. Gilead said.
• 6:59
To one another, Who is the man who will begin to fight against
• 7:02
the children of Ammon? He shall behead over all the.
• 7:05
Inhabitants of Gilead now, Jeff. Taw the Jilidite.
• 7:08
Was a mighty man of valor. He was the son of a prostitute.
• 7:12
Gilead became the father of Jeff.
• 7:14
Taw Gilead's wife. Bore him sons.
• 7:17
When his wife's sons grew up, they drove Jeff Taw out and said
• 7:20
to him, You will not inherit in our father's house, for you are
• 7:23
the son of another woman. Then Jefta fled from his
• 7:27
brothers and lived in the land of Taub.
• 7:29
Outlaws joined up with Jeff Taw and they went out with him.
• 7:32
After a while. The children of Ammon made war
• 7:35
against Israel when the children of Ammon made war against
• 7:38
  Israel. The elders of Gilead.
• 7:40
Went to get Jeff Taw out of the land of Taub.
• 7:43
They said to Jeff. Taw, come and be our chief, that
• 7:45
we may fight with the children of Ammon.
• 7:47
Jeff Taw said to the elders of Gilead.
• 7:50
Didn't you hate me and drive me out of my father?
• 7:52
'S house. Why have you come to me now when
• 7:54
you are in distress? The elders of Gilead said to
• 7:57
  Geftah. Therefore we have.
• 7:59
Turned again to you, now that you may go with us and fight
• 8:02
with the children of Ammon. You will be our head over all.
• 8:05
The inhabitants of Gilead. Geftah said to the elders of
• 8:08
Gilead, If you. Bring me home again to fight
• 8:10
with the children of Ammon, and Yahweh delivers them before me
• 8:13
will I be? Your head, the elders of Gilead
• 8:16
said to Geftah. Yahweh will be witnessed between
• 8:19
us. Surely we will do what you say.
• 8:22
Then Jeftah. Went with the elders of.
• 8:23
Gilead and the people made him head and chief over them.
• 8:27
Jeftah. Spoke all his words before
• 8:29
  Yahweh. In Mizpah, Jeftah sent
• 8:31
messengers to the king of the children of Ammon, saying.
• 8:34
What do you? Have to do with me that you have
• 8:36
come to me to fight against my land, the king of the children
• 8:39
of Ammon answered the messengers of.
• 8:41
Jeftah because Israel took. Away my land when he came up out
• 8:44
of Egypt from the Arnon. Even to the.
• 8:47
Jabak and to the Jordan now therefore restore that territory
• 8:50
again peaceably. Jephthah sent messengers again
• 8:54
to the king of the children of Ammon, and he said to him,
• 8:57
  Jephthah. Says Israel didn't take.
• 8:59
Away the land of Moab, nor the land of the children of ammon,
• 9:02
but when they came up from Egypt and Israel, went through the
• 9:05
wilderness to the Red Sea, and came to.
• 9:07
Kaddish, then Israel. Sent messengers to the King of
• 9:10
Edom saying please. Let me pass.
• 9:12
Through your land. But the king of Edom didn't
• 9:15
listen in the same way he sent to the king of Moab, but he.
• 9:18
  Refused. So Israel.
• 9:20
Stayed in Kadish. Then they went through the
• 9:22
wilderness and went around the land of Edom and the land of
• 9:25
Moab, and came by the east side of the land of Moab, and they
• 9:29
encamped on the other side of the Arnan, but they didn't come
• 9:32
within the border of Moab, for the Arnan was the border of
• 9:35
Moab. Israel sent messengers to Sihan,
• 9:38
king of the Amorites, the king of Heshman, and Israel said to
• 9:41
  him, please. Let us pass.
• 9:43
Through your land to my place, but.
• 9:45
Sihan didn't trust Israel to pass through his border, but
• 9:48
Sihan gathered all his people. Together and encamped in Jahaz
• 9:52
and fought against. Israel, Yahweh, the God of
• 9:55
Israel, delivered. Sihan and all his people into
• 9:58
the hand of Israel, and they struck them.
• 10:00
So Israel possessed. All the land of the Amorites,
• 10:03
the inhabitants of that country, they possessed all the border of
• 10:06
the Amorites, from the Arnon even to the.
• 10:09
Jabak. And from the wilderness even to
• 10:11
  the Jordan. So now Yahweh.
• 10:13
The God of Israel has dispossessed.
• 10:15
The amorites from before. His people Israel.
• 10:18
And should you possess them, won't you?
• 10:20
Possess that which. Khemash, your God.
• 10:21
Gives you to possess so whoever Yahweh our God has dispossessed.
• 10:25
From before us, then will. We possess.
• 10:27
Now are you anything better than Balak, the son of Zipper, king
• 10:31
  of Moab? Did he ever?
• 10:32
  Strive against Israel. Or did.
• 10:34
He ever fight against them? Israel lived in Heshbon and its
• 10:37
towns and an error and its towns and in all the cities that are
• 10:41
along the side of the Arnon for 300 years.
• 10:44
Why didn't you recover them within that time?
• 10:47
Therefore, I have not sinned against you, but you do me wrong
• 10:49
to war against me. May Yahweh the judge be judged.
• 10:52
Today between the children of Israel and the children of
• 10:55
  Ammon. However, the.
• 10:57
King of the Children of Ammon didn't listen to the words.
• 11:00
Of Jephthah. Which he sent him.
• 11:01
Then Yahweh's spirit came on Jeftah.
• 11:04
And he passed over Gilead. And manasseh and passed over
• 11:07
  Misbah. Of Gilead and.
• 11:09
From Misbah of. Gilead, he passed over to the.
• 11:11
Children of Ammon. Jeftah, vow to vow.
• 11:13
To Yahweh and said. If you.
• 11:15
  Will indeed. Deliver the.
• 11:16
Children of Ammon into my hand. Then it shall.
• 11:19
Be that whatever comes out of the doors of my house to meet me
• 11:22
when I return in peace from the children of Ammon.
• 11:24
It shall be Yahweh's. And I will offer it up for a
• 11:27
burnt offering. So Jeff Dahl passed over to the.
• 11:30
Children of Ammon to fight against them and Yahweh
• 11:33
delivered them into his hand. He struck them from error until
• 11:36
you come to minneth even 20 cities and to able cheramim with
• 11:40
a very. Great slaughter, so the.
• 11:42
Children of Ammon were. Subdued before the.
• 11:44
Children of Israel Jeff Dahl came to Misbah.
• 11:47
To his house. And behold, his daughter came
• 11:49
out to meet him with tambourines and with dances.
• 11:52
She was his only child. Besides her, he.
• 11:55
Had neither son nor daughter when he saw her.
• 11:57
He tore his. Clothes and said, alas my
• 12:00
  daughter. You have.
• 12:01
Brought me very low and you are one of those who trouble me, for
• 12:04
I have opened my mouth to Yahweh and I can't.
• 12:06
Go back she. Said to him, My father, you have
• 12:10
opened your mouth to Yahweh due to me according to that.
• 12:12
Which has proceeded. Out of your mouth.
• 12:14
Because Yahweh has. Taken vengeance for you on your
• 12:17
enemies, even on the children of Ammon.
• 12:20
Then she said to. Her father.
• 12:21
Let this thing be done for me, leave me alone two months that I
• 12:25
may depart and go down on the mountains and bewail my
• 12:27
virginity, I and my companions. He said go.
• 12:31
He sent her away for two months, and she departed, she and her
• 12:34
companions, and mourned her virginity on the mountains.
• 12:38
At the end of two months, she. Returned to her father, who did
• 12:41
with her according to his vow which he had vowed.
• 12:44
She was a virgin. It became a custom in Israel.
• 12:47
That the daughters of Israel. Went.
• 12:48
Yearly to celebrate the daughter of Jeff Taw the Jilidite.
• 12:51
Four days in a year, the men of Ephraim.
• 12:54
Were gathered together. And passed northward and they
• 12:57
said. To geftah, why did you pass?
• 12:59
Over to fight against the children of Ammon and didn't
• 13:02
call. Us to go with you.
• 13:03
We will burn your house around you with.
• 13:04
Fire, Geftah said. To them I and my.
• 13:07
People were at great strife with the.
• 13:09
Children of Ammon, and when I called you, you didn't save me
• 13:12
out of their hand. When I saw that you didn't save
• 13:14
me, I put my life in my hand and passed over against the children
• 13:18
of Ammon, and Yahweh delivered them into my hand.
• 13:21
Why then have you come up to me today to fight against me then?
• 13:25
Jeftog gathered together. All the men of Gilead and fought
• 13:28
with Ephraim. The men of Gilead struck Ephraim
• 13:31
  because they said. You are.
• 13:32
Fugitives of Ephraim you Jilidites in the middle of
• 13:35
Ephraim and in the middle of Manasseh the.
• 13:38
Jilidites took the. Fords of the Jordan against the
• 13:40
Ephraimites whenever a fugitive of Ephraim said.
• 13:43
Let me go. Over the men of Gilead said to
• 13:45
him, Are you an Ephraimite? If he said no, then they said to
• 13:49
him, Now say shibboleth. And he said.
• 13:51
Sibboleth. For he couldn't manage to
• 13:53
pronounce it correctly. Then they seized him and killed
• 13:56
him at the Fords of the Jordan. At that time 42,000 of Ephraim
• 14:00
fell. Gefdah judged Israel six years.
• 14:04
  Then. Gefdah, the Jilidite.
• 14:05
Died and was buried in the cities of Gilead.
• 14:08
After him Ibsen of Bethlehem judged Israel.
• 14:11
He had thirty sons. He sent his thirty daughters
• 14:14
outside his. Clan and he brought in 30
• 14:16
daughters from outside his clan for his sons he judged Israel
• 14:20
seven years. Ibsen died and was buried at
• 14:23
Bethlehem. After him, Elon, the Zebulunite
• 14:26
  judged. Israel.
• 14:27
And he judged Israel 10 years Elon the Zebulunite died and was
• 14:31
buried in age Allen in the land of Zebulun.
• 14:34
After him Abdun the son of Hillel the Purithonite judged
• 14:37
Israel. He had forty sons and 30 son
• 14:40
sons who rode on 70 donkey Colts.
• 14:43
He judged Israel eight years. Abden, the son of Hillel the
• 14:46
Purathonite, died and was buried in Purathon in the land of
• 14:49
Ephraim in the Hill Country of the Amelkites.
