- 0:02How many times in the course of an individual's practice of
- 0:05yoga? Two thoughts of failure and lack
- 0:09of capacity, or ability to succeed, intervene and work to
- 0:15create doubt and despair. If allowed to dominate the
- 0:20being, the quest fails, at least for the time being, or for the
- 0:26rest of the current lifetime, as it requires the willing and
- 0:30persevering dedication of the individual to stay the course.
- 0:35What brings these thoughts and feelings into prominence?
- 0:39No, individual is fully competent at the beginning or
- 0:43even for a great while on the path to perfectly represent the
- 0:48expected results of the yogic practice.
- 0:52This is a progressive development taking time.
- 0:57And thus, defeats along the way, are both to be expected and
- 1:01overcome by renewed efforts each.
- 1:05Individual has multiple different aspects to his being,
- 1:09some of which enthusiastically support the focus and dedication
- 1:13needed. While other aspects, hold onto
- 1:16cherished ideas, ideals emotions, and vital desires.
- 1:23These parts continually try to convince the Seeker that the
- 1:27focus is misguided that there are other potential goals and
- 1:32avenues for success in life. And that major chances are being
- 1:36thrown away by the yogic process.
- 1:40It is not however, just these various parts of the being which
- 1:44set forth contradictory goals and ideals.
- 1:48There's the also, the impact of one social environment.
- 1:52Family, friends Associates, who each work to encourage the
- 1:57secret, to give up the quest and follow the normal path.
- 2:01Laid out by the society within, which he has been born and
- 2:04raised. But even this is not the end of
- 2:09the attempt to waylay the Seeker along the path.
- 2:13There are also larger forces which are hostile and inimical
- 2:17to the eventual goal of the yoga and these forces exert,
- 2:21tremendous pressure on those who seek to progress.
- 2:27All of these opposing forces, take advantage of the weaknesses
- 2:30and failures to imply, to the Seeker that he is unfit that he
- 2:36can never succeed. And that what is asked of him is
- 2:39too hard to achieve. these all push the ego personality into a
- 2:44state of despondency and despair with the goal of having the
- 2:49secret leave aside the yogic process and take up another
- 2:53Direction Where success is more in line with the normal
- 2:57expectations of the society, it is thus necessary for the secret
- 3:03to arm himself against these negative suggestions.
- 3:07Whether they arise internally or as a pressure from outside and
- 3:13make the commitment based on his inherent faith.
- 3:16In the truth that his soul has recognized to continue on, no
- 3:22matter what failures, no matter what difficulties, no matter
- 3:26what obstruction stand in the way.
- 3:30Three aurobindo notes, quote, to be always, observing faults and
- 3:35wrong movements brings depression and discourages the
- 3:38faith in quote, a disciple of request clarification from the
- 3:44mother. How does it discourage the
- 3:47faith? The mother responds, the faith
- 3:51spoken about his faith in the divine grace.
- 3:55And the final success of the undertaking, you have begun the
- 3:59yoga and have faith that you will go through to the end of
- 4:01your yoga. But if you spend all your time
- 4:05looking at all that prevent you from advancing.
- 4:08And finally, you say, ah, I shall never succeed.
- 4:12It is not possible if it goes on in this way, I shall never get
- 4:16there. So This is to lose one's Faith.
- 4:21One must always, keep the faith. That one is sure to succeed.
- 4:26Many people begin and then after some time come and tell you who
- 4:32I shall, never be able to go through.
- 4:34I have too many difficulties. So this means not having faith.
- 4:39If one is started, when begins with the faith, that one will
- 4:43reach the goal. Well, this Faith should be kept
- 4:47till the very end, keeping one's Faith, one attains the end, but
- 4:52if in the middle of the road, you turn back saying, no, I
- 4:56can't then obviously, you will not reach the end.
- 5:01Some people start on the way and then after some time they find
- 5:06it heavy going tiring difficult. And also that they themselves
- 5:11their legs. Don't walk well.
- 5:13Their feet begin to ache Etc. You see they say oh it is very
- 5:19hard to go forward. So instead of saying I have
- 5:23started, I shall go through, which is the only thing to do.
- 5:27They stand there, stop there. Lamenting and saying, oh, I
- 5:32shall never be able to succeed and then they leave the path.
- 5:37So obviously if they leave the path, they will never succeed.
- 5:42This is to lose one's faith. To keep one's faith is to say
- 5:46good. I have difficulties, but I'm
- 5:49going on to spare, that's what cuts off your legs.
- 5:54Stop you, leave you like this. It is over.
- 5:58I can't go on any longer, it is indeed finished and that's
- 6:02something which should not be allowed in reference SRI

- 6:14development. Three growth of Consciousness,
