- 0:00Speaker 1: So joining me now, we have Arizona Congresswoman Yasemin Ansari.
- 0:03Speaker 1: She serves on the House Oversight and Natural Resources Committees,
- 0:06Speaker 1: and we're glad to welcome you back to the broadcast, Congresswoman.
- 0:09Speaker 1: So we had Vice President J.D. Vance this week saying
- 0:12Speaker 1: he would not call the conflict with Iran a war, saying,
- 0:15Speaker 1: you know, there's currently no active shooting, despite the recent
- 0:18Speaker 1: exchanges of fire. Vance said he can't predict when the
- 0:21Speaker 1: conflict will end. And this is amid reports the Pentagon
- 0:24Speaker 1: plans to extend the deployments of the 50,000 troops.
- 0:27Speaker 2: In the Middle East.
- 0:29Speaker 1: Given what you heard in that last report about the
- 0:31Speaker 1: USS Lincoln, how concerned are you that this will become
- 0:33Speaker 1: a forever war and continue indefinitely without a coherent exit strategy?
- 0:41Speaker 2: This is the most incompetent administration in American history, just
- 0:44Speaker 2: seeing the way that President Trump and Vice President Vance
- 0:48Speaker 2: are actively and almost intentionally disrespecting U.S. service members and
- 0:55Speaker 2: the intelligence of the American people with their attempted diminishment
- 0:59Speaker 2: of their failed war. I am extremely concerned that this
- 1:02Speaker 2: will become a forever war for a multitude of reasons.
- 1:05Speaker 2: It is clear that Donald Trump, first of all, has
- 1:08Speaker 2: never had a coherent objective or a plan for the
- 1:14Speaker 2: successful outcome of this war in Iran. From the beginning,
- 1:19Speaker 2: there was never a clear objective whatsoever. He changed the
- 1:22Speaker 2: reason in front of the American people. First, he says
- 1:25Speaker 2: it's about regime change. Then he says it's about the
- 1:27Speaker 2: obliteration of the nuclear program, which they told us last
- 1:31Speaker 2: summer that they already obliterated. And the consequences have been
- 1:35Speaker 2: catastrophic for Americans. Not only have 18 American service members
- 1:40Speaker 2: been killed, thousands of civilians in Iran have been killed.
- 1:45Speaker 2: A million people have been displaced across the region. And
- 1:49Speaker 2: they have shown no serious intention of ending this thing.
- 1:53Speaker 2: And they're clearly trying to make it seem like it's
- 1:55Speaker 2: no big deal. But that's not what Americans at the
- 1:58Speaker 2: pump are feeling. And that's not what the loved ones
- 2:00Speaker 2: of the service members who have been killed or wounded
- 2:03Speaker 2: are feeling.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Well, in fact, Iran has accused the U.S. of bombing
- 2:07Speaker 1: a wedding celebration on Tuesday, killing at least five people.
- 2:11Speaker 1: And that includes a six-year-old boy wounding at least 68 others.
- 2:15Speaker 2: U.S.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Central Command is investigating, but analysis by The New York
- 2:18Speaker 1: Times and Reuters concluded a U.S. munition likely struck that
- 2:23Speaker 1: wedding directly. And it comes amid a new AP report
- 2:26Speaker 1: finding that the Pentagon's new precision strike missile may have
- 2:30Speaker 1: caused significant civilian casualties in its first strikes in Iran.
- 2:33Speaker 1: So what is your response to these reports, especially in
- 2:36Speaker 1: light of one of the Trump administration's original goals for
- 2:39Speaker 1: this war?
- 2:40Speaker 2: Remember, it was about helping the Iranian people.
- 2:43Speaker 1: We're going to have you reclaim your country.
- 2:46Speaker 2: That's what they were saying. Exactly. At the beginning of
- 2:52Speaker 2: this war, Donald Trump went to Truth Social and said that, quote,
- 2:56Speaker 2: help is on the way for the Iranian people. That
- 2:59Speaker 2: alleged help has come in the form of bombs that
- 3:02Speaker 2: have killed innocent civilians. The very first day of this war,
- 3:06Speaker 2: over 120 schoolchildren were murdered. Because of a United States strike,
- 3:12Speaker 2: I immediately sent an inquiry to the Pentagon and to
- 3:16Speaker 2: Secretary Hegseth. We have yet to get a coherent response
- 3:19Speaker 2: about this. They promised us a briefing and never followed
- 3:22Speaker 2: through with it. That's why I introduced articles of impeachment
- 3:26Speaker 2: against Secretary Hegseth, because he is wholly incompetent and unqualified
- 3:30Speaker 2: for the job. We're seeing that now with all of
- 3:32Speaker 2: the career military officials and civilian officials who are leaving
- 3:37Speaker 2: the Department of Defense in droves. And the most recent
- 3:41Speaker 2: strike on the wedding in Iran, I mean, it's all
- 3:43Speaker 2: just devastating. This is obviously not going to win over
- 3:48Speaker 2: hearts and minds in Iran, but it's just... None of
- 3:51Speaker 2: it has any purpose whatsoever. We need immediate investigations into
- 3:56Speaker 2: these murders. We need answers. We need to stop this.
- 3:58Speaker 2: This is an absolute moral stain on the United States
- 4:02Speaker 2: of America.
- 4:04Speaker 1: The Army Secretary Dan Driscoll resigned this week after clashing
- 4:08Speaker 1: with Defense Secretary Hegseth in his 18 months on the job.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Driscoll's departure comes amid the Army's suspension of the specialized
- 4:16Speaker 1: drone call warfare mission in Europe, which That's studied tactics
- 4:20Speaker 1: that's been pioneered by Ukraine. It is an effort that
- 4:23Speaker 1: Driscoll and departed Army Chief of Staff Randy George championed.
- 4:27Speaker 1: So what questions do you have about the decision to
- 4:30Speaker 1: end this program and the chaos inside Hegseth Pentagon?
- 4:36Speaker 2: Well, I think that Secretary Hegseth needs to be impeached
- 4:39Speaker 2: or fired immediately by President Trump. Driscoll's departure is just
- 4:43Speaker 2: the latest example of career officials who are experts in
- 4:48Speaker 2: the United States military who have been serving our country
- 4:51Speaker 2: under both Republican and Democratic presidents, some for decades. They
- 4:56Speaker 2: have left the department, and they are all sounding the
- 4:59Speaker 2: alarm to say that Hegseth is unqualified. He's decimating the
- 5:03Speaker 2: United States military. He's decimating our credibility around the world.
- 5:07Speaker 2: And it's not surprising. Pete Hegseth was some sort of
- 5:11Speaker 2: Fox News host. He's a guy who is way more
- 5:15Speaker 2: obsessed with culture wars and way more obsessed with just
- 5:18Speaker 2: this faux bro culture. That's all he's focused on. He
- 5:23Speaker 2: is trying to prevent women and African-American members of our
- 5:29Speaker 2: army from getting the promotions that they deserve. He needs
- 5:32Speaker 2: to be fired. It's a national security crisis. I quite
- 5:35Speaker 2: literally struggle to sleep at night. knowing that somebody like
- 5:39Speaker 2: him is in charge of the Department of Defense and
- 5:43Speaker 2: all Americans are in danger as a result. So I
- 5:46Speaker 2: just I'm grateful to see Republicans, some starting to talk
- 5:50Speaker 2: about this. You know, we know that Senator Tillis has
- 5:52Speaker 2: sounded the alarm about Hegseth and the fact that he
- 5:55Speaker 2: needs to be fired. This is no longer partisan. It
- 5:58Speaker 2: should have never been partisan. Republicans need to realize that
- 6:02Speaker 2: this is somebody who is putting all of us in
- 6:04Speaker 2: danger every single day. Hmm.
- 6:07Speaker 1: So looking ahead, Democrats are reportedly preparing an aggressive oversight
- 6:11Speaker 1: agenda if they win the House in November. House oversight
- 6:14Speaker 1: and judiciary leaders Robert Garcia and Jamie Raskin indicate they
- 6:18Speaker 1: will subpoena senior Trump officials as well as family members
- 6:21Speaker 1: for a wide range of investigations into alleged misdeeds.
- 6:25Speaker 2: Where will or should Democrats begin? Well, you know, that's
- 6:31Speaker 2: an interesting question because the corruption and the authoritarian of
- 6:36Speaker 2: this regime is so rampant that the list is going
- 6:39Speaker 2: to be long. But look, I think first and foremost,
- 6:41Speaker 2: we need to focus on the vast corruption that's taken place.
- 6:44Speaker 2: We need to look at the Trump family, not only
- 6:47Speaker 2: Donald Trump himself, but all of the Trump children who
- 6:50Speaker 2: are full-grown adults, whether it's Eric Trump, Don Jr., Barron Trump,
- 6:54Speaker 2: we need to look at their financial dealings, how they
- 6:56Speaker 2: have used the U.S. government and leveraged their their dad's
- 7:01Speaker 2: presidency to make billions of dollars, whether it's Don Jr.
- 7:05Speaker 2: with the defense contracts that he's forced the government to
- 7:08Speaker 2: engage in or Barron Trump with his crypto schemes and his.
- 7:12Speaker 2: his friendship with people like the Tate brothers. Then we
- 7:15Speaker 2: need to look at the companies. It's not just about
- 7:17Speaker 2: corruption from the administration or the Trump family, but let's
- 7:21Speaker 2: look at the companies that have either bowed down to
- 7:24Speaker 2: the Trump administration and made record profits, and let's look
- 7:28Speaker 2: at the corruption. So I think CEOs of major corporations
- 7:32Speaker 2: that have been involved need to be on alert, and
- 7:34Speaker 2: they need to watch what they're doing, because when Democrats
- 7:36Speaker 2: are in the across the board. If you have committed
- 7:43Speaker 2: a crime, if you have enabled a crime, if you've
- 7:45Speaker 2: been engaged in corruption, we look forward to hearing from you.
- 7:48Speaker 2: And then of course. As it pertains to high-profile cases
- 7:53Speaker 2: like our Epstein investigation, there are a number of people
- 7:57Speaker 2: that the Republican majority, like Chairman Comer, have refused to
- 8:00Speaker 2: bring forward. He's promised us that Todd Blanch will have
- 8:03Speaker 2: to come forward, as he has been leading the biggest
- 8:06Speaker 2: cover-up in American history, and we've yet to see it.
- 8:09Speaker 2: And so I look forward to making sure people like
- 8:12Speaker 2: Attorney General Todd Blanch come forward, as well as others
- 8:15Speaker 2: who have either perpetrated or enabled Jeffrey Epstein's crime. That's
- 8:20Speaker 2: just the beginning. But to me, those are some of
- 8:22Speaker 2: the most important priorities when we take back the House.
- 8:25Speaker 2: Which I say you go, girl.
