- Tharun Binu: They say motivation is something you want. Discipline is something you need. Obsession is something you have to have. I'm gonna show you what I wanted, how I got it, and how I was obsessed to get there. All right, another week on Forget the Noise Podcast. This is a kind of a sporadic episode. I'm away next week. And well, by the time you see this, I've already come back. And we're kind of just winging it. And I was talking to T-Bone over here, and I'm like, I don't even know what we're gonna say on the episode. And he's like, just wing it, just rant. And I think that's what I'm gonna do. I'm just gonna kinda put it out there and talk about stuff I hear about, conversations I have, and so forth with individuals either. Developing themselves, growing in business, growing in a relationship, financially, mentally, whatever else it is, emotionally and stuff like that. I don't even need my tablet today because we're just gonna get right into it. Fuck it. so first off, we're gonna talk about complaining. Because I can't stand complaining. I don't know what it is, it just fucking irks me. It's like I just had a conversation with someone and they're complaining about how they're so busy and they got this going on, they got that going on. And I'm like, I was talking to you. Three months ago, and you were just begging me, saying, I want to grow my business, I want to be busy, I want to be able to hire someone. And literally, they have someone they hired, they have someone they have delegated work to, they have more work coming in, they're working on increasing the prices, and then they turn to me and they're like, I'm so busy and tired. I'm like, it's what you fucking wished for. It's literally what you asked for, and now you're complaining about it. Like, stop with that shit. Like, if you want something. And then you get it, don't complain about it. I I don't get it. It's just it it flabbergassed me and I don't make sense of it. And then the next thing is like taking action. And I was trying to think of a way that's gonna cover everything I want to talk about here, but taking action. It's like you almost know what you have to do, you know exactly what it's gonna take to get you to that next level or to break through that ceiling. And you don't take action. It's like, I need to drop a client, and then you don't drop the client. I need to raise my prices. I don't raise my prices. I need to set a schedule. You don't set a schedule. I need to eat healthier and you don't eat healthier. Then why are you talking? Like I made it so clear in so many of my podcasts on my social media, like my time is valuable and I don't want to hear it. If it's not gonna bring me value, I'm not gonna bring you value and you're not gonna take action. And There's no point in talking about taking action on something if you know deep downside you're not. And I know generally people think to themselves, like, hey, you know what, I'm gonna do this next, and tr truly believe that they're gonna do it, but there's something inside you that knows you're not gonna do it. As much as you want to lie to yourself or lie to me, or lie to your spouse, or lie to your friend, you know inside if you're gonna do it or not. Like, take this coin flip thing, I've actually tried it. And it works. It's like, I'm gonna eat healthy and I'm not gonna stick to a diet. Pick two things. Flip it up in the air. Before the coin hits the ground, pick what side you really wanted to land on. Because I guarantee you're gonna be honest with yourself and you're gonna be able to tell yourself, you know what, I'm not gonna be able to stick to that diet. Ninety nine percent of the time, you're not. And I hate to call people out on it, but like you're not gonna be able to do it, and I'm guilty of it too. I said I'm gonna start. Maybe venturing into this like bodybuilding prep. I do want to grow a little bit and build a little more muscle and then start cutting. And I'm like, I'm gonna stick to a diet. And I I already broke it once this week. But it's a consistency of going over and over and over and over again and building those thousand repetitions and maybe have one or two laps in between, but it's the consistency overall that's gonna make it happen. And I'm at the point where like I generally believe I'm gonna stick to this diet eventually. But I'm not jumping into it right away. And I'm Honest with myself. I'm like, there's gonna be times I fail. And I hear people saying, I'm gonna be a go-getter. I'm gonna like change on Monday. And that's another thing, Monday. Why always Monday? Like generally, people pick Monday and Sunday to start the week. Now I'll give you a little kudos if you pick Sunday, because Sunday is actually the first day of the week if you look at any calendar out there. But why do you need a hard set date? It's like New Year's. at New Year's, I mean change now. Do it now. Take action. If you don't take a hundred percent action, take seventy percent. So when you get to your like so called date, at least you're seventy percent there. You only have to make a thirty percent change rather than a hundred percent change. It's those small steps that are gonna get you moving along the way. And I'm also gonna talk about criticism. And I come off the wrong way with criticism, but I like I said, my time's valuable and it's like you're gonna get the honest truth right out of the gate, and that's it. You don't like it, don't talk to me. I I generally don't care. Just don't talk to me. Cause I'm good with you not talking to me. Like I said in my last podcast, or two or three podcasts ago. I don't know, T Bone, when's gonna be? Two or three? The one we just recorded. Two week next. Week after next. So yeah, so it'd have been last week. I don't know what it's talking about anymore. T won't help me out here. People not talking to I think with criticism, yes. Thank you. So like behind the camera, we're gonna get them in front of the camera one day. They help me out a lot. And we actually have a story. I'm gonna sidetrack here. We have a great story about T-Bone with telling me how much time we have left in the podcast. And I do the like when I'm off camera, like International Sign for what time is it? Right. He's like this. I'm like, that's nine numbers. Like, literally, it's nine numbers. I need two, 42 minutes, 45 minutes, 51 minutes. Like, gives me nine numbers. So it's like an ongoing joke that I have my own little timer now because I can't trust him. But now we're gonna go back to criticism. And people take it to heart. Like you can tell me exactly what you think, and you're entitled to that. And it's up to me to take it or not take it. I don't know if I have a right to get offended to it. If you personally insult me, I believe I can take offense to it, but there's a difference between insult and honesty. Like, AJ, I'm gonna start going to the gym every day. And I turn to you and I say, honestly, realistically, you'll probably only go two or three days a week. Don't get butthurt over it. Don't. Because it's true. And you know it too. Going back to the coin flip thing. If you flip a coin, say, am I gonna go to the gym seven days or am I gonna go three days? I guarantee you when it's in the air, you're gonna say three days. So that's being honest. Now, if I turn to you and say you're a fat slug and you don't deserve to be in the gym, that's offensive. And I don't agree with that. But taking criticism is such a crucial part in life. And I think that's where the world's kind of going backwards. It's like where there's no such thing as constructive criticism. Well, there is constructive criticism, but it's the acceptance of it. It's how people absorb it and react to it. They're looking to give someone a reaction rather than like a response. And if someone comes to me and says, AJ, you're putting too much on your plate, you're overwhelmed, you're like going crazy, you're like losing yourself. I'm like, you know what, I could take that with a grain of salt. I know for 99% of people it's true. So I'm not gonna get offended by it. I get it. People say, hey, your plan's not gonna work out because you're not strategizing it, there's too much going on, you can't dial into one thing, you're not giving it the attention it deserves. I can take that as criticism. Now if you turn to me and say I'm gonna fucking fail, we're watch out, we're gonna throw hands. And that's it. End of the day, because I will do everything in my power to make sure I prove you wrong. So if someone's giving you constructive criticism, maybe it just fires them up a little bit. But take that as a compliment. Someone's taking their energy and getting fired up over something you're going through trying to help you with criticism, like constructive criticism. Going back to the like complaining about you know being too busy. Like I got fired up about it. I got pissed off. Truly, I I actually got pissed off during the conversation. But they should look at that and say, you know what? He's passionate about it, and I should be passionate about it too. Like he's generally cares. Like he's getting so worked up emotionally about it, and he cares. And it means something to him. So maybe I should take that advice and actually run with it and roll with it. And like Listen to because I did wish for this one day. And then lastly is the whole like, I don't have time. You do have time. You have so much time to do stuff. You literally have 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and a lifetime ahead of you. Prioritize it. Time block. Non-negotiables. Whatever you need to do, do it. But I guarantee you have time. I could probably look at your phone apps and see how much bullshit time you waste on Doom Scrolling. And I'm guilty for it too. There's days I don't get as much as I want done. And I know I brag, I get everything I want done. I have a small list of no non-negotiables. I work out, I have my vitamins, I spend time with my family, I work on myself. Like those are non-negotiables. The other stuff, like my businesses, personal relationships and stuff, those are secondary. Then there's like I guess bomb of the barrel, like doom scrolling stuff. Sometimes secondary and the third. Get meshed together. Sometimes I get onto you know like Instagram and start scrolling, but I get into like wormhole of like motivational videos or like clips and stuff from podcasts. Yeah, okay, I'm doom scrolling, but I'm also looking at half-decent content. So it's what you're taking in, but it's not what I should be doing at the moment. But I do have time for other stuff. Every time I've ended a day, especially in the last six months, and I've like assessed my day and said, How did my day go? I didn't get everything I wanted done. I wrote down three things. That distract me throughout the day and took time away from other stuff that I was gonna do. There hasn't been one day I haven't been able to find those three things. It's usually five or six, like full transparency. It's not three. The first day I did that, I only wrote down three. And you don't have to physically write down, just take a minute and think about it. And the first day I'm like, boom, boom, boom. yeah, three of them. Next day I did that. And I'm like, well, let's see what else there was. And there was like five, six, seven, eight things that I did in a day that I didn't need to do that distracted me from stuff I was supposed to do. So when you say you don't have time, you do. That is just nonsense. Like, I don't believe that at all. And then lastly, is priorities. Like, if you listen to the last episode, there's priorities you're gonna have to let go of. Like certain things you just can't get done if you're looking at a certain direction in life. And unfortunately, you can't. Like if you want to build a business or you want to like build a brand. Unfortunately, your social life, sure, it might be a priority to priority to you, but you can't do it. You can't. They don't mix well. I'm gonna be honest with you. If you're trying to build a brand of credibility and accomplishment and success and everything like that, 90% of them don't drink. And if they do, they enjoy a drink, they don't drink to escape. Socializing, you don't have time to. And I know I just say you don't have time, but those are one of the things in the C class. That's at the bottom of the barrel. Socializing when you're trying to build success. You have to get to the point where like you're not socializing because something else trumps that. So when I say you don't have time to socialize, I mean it's not a priority on your time. Okay. Things like, you know, relaxing. You deserve a day off. I that bugs me. I was like just talking to someone about it and they took a personal day. I'm like, you gotta be fucking kidding me. A personal day from what? Your average. If that. Like literally if that, your average. A day off. Don't get me wrong, I've taken a day off and I felt like shit about it. I'm like, I could have done so many other things. So now consciously when I take a day off, I'm like, I'm getting some shit done first thing the morning and I'm making sure I'm productive. So I'm taking a few hours off. I'm not taking a day off. But I know people that will literally wake up, do nothing all day, pluck around the house, sit on the couch, and do nothing. And literally they say, I need a personal day. And I got friends my age that literally turn around and say, I need a personal day. I'm overwhelmed. I'm tired. I'm sick. I'm that No, you're not. Like literally, no, you're not. Like, think of the men and women that built our country going back to like 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, the hardworking, back breaking labor they do day in, day out, six, seven days a week. Homemaking. Like it's not just the men at work. The women at home, like laundry by hand or even not by hand. It was like with old machines and like cooking dinners was like full prep. You didn't buy something in a box and throw it in the oven. Like they worked hard. And you didn't see them taking personal days off. Like that's just soft, like a personal day. Now you want to take a personal day and get some personal stuff done? Great. I personally just did that. I took a day and I had a massage. I went to like a spa thing, did a cold plunge, did the hot tub, did the steam room, I got some notes done. I made a vision kind of board for what I want to do with the businesses, what I want to do for myself. Yeah, I took a day off. But with that day off, I built a platform and built a foundation for when I come back. I didn't sit around do nothing. I literally worked all my day off. And you know what? If you don't believe in the shut up and work harder mentality, that's fine. Shut up and do something. How about that? That works better? Does that make everyone feel a little bit warm and cuddly inside? We can do that. So I guess this was just a random episode, just some stuff that's been like in conversations I've had recently, hopefully it resonated with you, just kinda off the dome here. So I don't know, it just we had some time and it doesn't hurt to get an extra episode in. I'm loving this. Again, it's a passion project and I appreciate everyone listening. Besides that, forget the noise, stay tuned for another episode next week.
