Speaker 1: What's up, everyone, and welcome back to the program. In
• 0:03
Speaker 1: this episode, we're going to begin taking a look at
• 0:06
Speaker 1: the unsealed expert disclosures from Moscow. First one up, Jennieyer's.
• 0:13
Speaker 1: The State has previously disclosed Jennieyer's Forensic Scientists three as
• 0:18
Speaker 1: an expert witness in the field of forensic science. The
• 0:21
Speaker 1: State hereby incorporates its previous response and attachments filed on
• 0:25
Speaker 1: December eighteenth, twenty twenty four and February sixteenth, twenty twenty five,
• 0:30
Speaker 1: and is hereby supplementing those responses as follows. The purpose
• 0:34
Speaker 1: of processing the crime scene is to collect as much
• 0:37
Speaker 1: information and evidence as possible in as pristine a condition
• 0:41
Speaker 1: as possible. The process involves assessing the situation and the scene,
• 0:46
Speaker 1: observing the condition of the scene, documentation of the scene
• 0:50
Speaker 1: via photography, written observation, sketches, or diagrams, Searching systematically for
• 0:55
Speaker 1: items or materials that may have evidentiary value, Collecting items
• 0:59
Speaker 1: in a way that will preserve them and prevent alteration,
• 1:03
Speaker 1: contamination and tampering, and chemical or physical processing if needed.
• 1:07
Speaker 1: To detect evidence that is not readily visible. Items may
• 1:12
Speaker 1: be processed for latent prints on scene or collective for
• 1:15
Speaker 1: future processing in the laboratory. Latent print evidence can be
• 1:19
Speaker 1: developed on scene by using light enhancement powder or blood
• 1:23
Speaker 1: enhancing chemicals a meatle black. Observed or developed prints are
• 1:27
Speaker 1: preserved with photography and or tape lifting. Preserved impressions can
• 1:32
Speaker 1: be used for further Latent print analysis ayers will testify
• 1:36
Speaker 1: about DNA and how its genetic material contained in human
• 1:40
Speaker 1: cells that may be utilized for human identification. DNA may
• 1:45
Speaker 1: be present on an item in the form of biological
• 1:47
Speaker 1: materials such as blood, seamen, and saliva, or it may
• 1:51
Speaker 1: be left on an item when it's handled touch. DNA
• 1:55
Speaker 1: biological evidence and possible potential DNA evidence is collective for
• 1:59
Speaker 1: preservation and may be sent for further testing by qualified
• 2:03
Speaker 1: DNA analysis. Crime scene personnel do not test or screen
• 2:07
Speaker 1: for DNA specifically. DNA evidence may be collected at a
• 2:11
Speaker 1: crime scene if there is observable biological material in the
• 2:15
Speaker 1: form of blood, semen, saliva, hair, or other tissue present.
• 2:19
Speaker 1: Some biological material may not be visible but may be
• 2:23
Speaker 1: collected for its possible presence. Possible DNA material refers to
• 2:27
Speaker 1: areas or items that are likely to have DNA based
• 2:30
Speaker 1: on the details of the case or known activities. Potential
• 2:34
Speaker 1: DNA material refers to areas or items that may have
• 2:38
Speaker 1: DNA based on how they may have been handled. Touch DNA.
• 2:41
Speaker 1: Biological DNA material on a smaller item is generally collected
• 2:45
Speaker 1: by collecting the entire item eg. Shirt, weapon bottle. Visible
• 2:50
Speaker 1: biological DNA material on a structural surface eg. Floor or wall,
• 2:54
Speaker 1: or on a large object furniture is generally collected by
• 2:58
Speaker 1: using one or two s steryl cotton swabs simultaneously. The
• 3:03
Speaker 1: swabs may be moistened with steril water prior to sample collection.
• 3:07
Speaker 1: After swabbing the surface, the swabs are allowed to air
• 3:10
Speaker 1: dry in porous packaging. Any biological DNA material on those
• 3:15
Speaker 1: swabs is preserved and can be used for future testing.
• 3:19
Speaker 1: Collection of possible and potential DNA or collected in the
• 3:22
Speaker 1: same method as described for visible DNA using steril water
• 3:27
Speaker 1: and steril swabs. Trace material like hairs or fibers may
• 3:31
Speaker 1: be present at a scene or on an item. These
• 3:34
Speaker 1: items can be collected with forceps and low adhesive material
• 3:38
Speaker 1: and packaged for potential analysis. Shoe entire impressions evidence may
• 3:43
Speaker 1: be observed or developed using chemical EMETO black gluco crystal violet,
• 3:48
Speaker 1: et cetera, or physical methods, power or light enhancement. Preservation
• 3:53
Speaker 1: methods include photography, casting, and lifting. Items that may have
• 3:58
Speaker 1: evidentiary value are identified, documented, and collected. Effort is made
• 4:02
Speaker 1: to ensure that items are preserved as found. The type
• 4:06
Speaker 1: and size of packaging are determined based on the type
• 4:09
Speaker 1: of evidence cigarette butt, paper evidence envelope, paper note, receipt,
• 4:14
Speaker 1: paper evidence envelope, computer and electronics component, paper, evidence envelope
• 4:19
Speaker 1: or paper bag, depending on size and examination to be completed.
• 4:24
Speaker 1: Large items like computer towers or monitors that do not
• 4:27
Speaker 1: fit into standard evidence bags may be identified with an
• 4:30
Speaker 1: evidence tag. Nitrol type glove, paper evidence envelope, vacuum dust container,
• 4:36
Speaker 1: paper evidence bag. Presumptive blood tests or chemical tests that
• 4:40
Speaker 1: are used to distinguish possible blood stains from non bloodstains.
• 4:45
Speaker 1: The chemical tests that can be used are phenophyleene or orthotolidine.
• 4:52
Speaker 1: These tests are considered presumptive because the chemicals react to blood,
• 4:56
Speaker 1: which indicates the material may be blood. They are not
• 4:59
Speaker 1: sp ccific for blood, meaning that they could react with
• 5:02
Speaker 1: a substance that is not blood. A small sample of
• 5:06
Speaker 1: a stain is collected onto a swab of filter paper
• 5:08
Speaker 1: and chemicals are applied to the sample. This leaves a
• 5:12
Speaker 1: source stain unaffected by chemicals. If the chemical has a
• 5:16
Speaker 1: color change pink or blue, the stain is considered presumptively
• 5:21
Speaker 1: positive for blood. The stain or item may be collected
• 5:24
Speaker 1: for future biological testing. If a test is inconclusive, the
• 5:28
Speaker 1: item stain would likely be collected for further laboratory testing.
• 5:34
Speaker 1: If the test is negative, the item stain would likely
• 5:36
Speaker 1: not be collected. Bucle cells are found on the inside
• 5:40
Speaker 1: of a person's cheek. A sterile cotton swab or par
• 5:43
Speaker 1: of swabs is used to collect these cells. As a
• 5:46
Speaker 1: reference DNA sample from a known individual. Buckle swab samples
• 5:50
Speaker 1: can be compared to unknown DNA samples from a crime
• 5:53
Speaker 1: scene or from an item of evidence. Exhibit two a
• 5:58
Speaker 1: mended supplemental expert disclosure and this person redacted. The state
• 6:04
Speaker 1: is previously disclosed redacted special agent from the Federal Bureau
• 6:08
Speaker 1: of Investigation as an expert in the field of historical

Speaker 1: Rules of Evidence Rule one zero zero six, which mirrors
• 6:45
Speaker 1: the Federal Rules of Evidence. The rule provides that the
• 6:49
Speaker 1: proponent may use a summary chart or calculation to approve
• 6:53
Speaker 1: the content of voluminous writings, recordings, or photographs that cannot
• 6:57
Speaker 1: be conveniently examined in court. The proponent of a summary
• 7:01
Speaker 1: evidence under the rule must make the original duplicates available
• 7:04
Speaker 1: for examination or copying, or both by other parties at
• 7:09
Speaker 1: a reasonable time and place. A significant portion of Redacted's
• 7:12
Speaker 1: testimony will relate to the presentation of some reevidence. Pursuant
• 7:16
Speaker 1: to Iore one zero zero six, which allows for the
• 7:20
Speaker 1: introduction of summary evidence to aid the jury in the
• 7:23
Speaker 1: examination of testimony or documents in evidence see US versus Burns,
• 7:28
Speaker 1: ten Circuit nineteen eighty two, the proponent of the summary
• 7:32
Speaker 1: introduced pursuant to Rule one zero zero six must establish

Speaker 1: ninety four, Ten Circuit. The underlying documents do not have
• 7:48
Speaker 1: to be admitted, but they must be established as admissible.
• 7:52
Speaker 1: Summarys must fairly represent the underlying documents upon which they
• 7:56
Speaker 1: are based. The Ten Circuit has repeatedly approved the use
• 7:59
Speaker 1: of rules one zero zero six summaries, particularly where as
• 8:03
Speaker 1: here the summaries will lay the jury in organizing the

• 8:15
Speaker 1: Ten Circuit nineteen sixty two. Rule one zero zero six
• 8:20
Speaker 1: treats properly admitted summaries as evidence in their own right,
• 8:24
Speaker 1: rather than just presentations of other evidence in a more
• 8:27
Speaker 1: coherent form, as long as the underlying evidence is admissible.
• 8:31
Speaker 1: Pursuing the iore one zero zero six, the state the
• 8:35
Speaker 1: proponent of summary evidence has provided the original or duplicates
• 8:39
Speaker 1: for the contents of the voluminous records to defense as follows.
• 8:45
Speaker 1: Regarding redacted final cast report. The following testimony is anticipated
• 8:50
