- 0:00Speaker 1: Which is worse.
- 0:01Speaker 2: Oh, I think the underwater is worse because I feel
- 0:05Speaker 2: like death would be imminent if there's a leak. Hey Beddy,
- 0:22Speaker 2: Welcome to a Girl's Gone Hallmark, a Hallmark review podcast.
- 0:25Speaker 2: I'm Megan and I'm a lifelong Hallmark movie fan.
- 0:28Speaker 1: I'm Wendy and I've seen Josh three. This hotel is
- 0:31Speaker 1: a hard pass for me. Have you seen jos three?
- 0:34Speaker 1: Do you know what I'm talking about? I won't watch
- 0:36Speaker 1: a Jaws movie, Thank you very Listen. They're like in
- 0:39Speaker 1: sea World and they're in some sort of like underwater
- 0:41Speaker 1: like tunnel and Jaws breaks through the tunnel. There's no
- 0:44Speaker 1: way I'm staying in this hotel. Absolutely freakin' not.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Oh wait, do we get to my first impression? Today
- 0:51Speaker 2: we're discussing Love in Them All D's, which originally aired
- 0:54Speaker 2: on Saturday, April first on the Hallmark Channel. If you
- 0:58Speaker 2: want to connect with us side of the podcast, we
- 1:01Speaker 2: would love for you to follow us on Instagram. You
- 1:03Speaker 2: can find us both at Megan and Wendy and at
- 1:08Speaker 2: Girls Gone Hallmark.
- 1:09Speaker 1: You can also jump into our Girls Gone Hallmark Facebook group.
- 1:14Speaker 1: And I was hoping here we have a ton of
- 1:16Speaker 1: new listeners and a ton of new Facebook group members.
- 1:19Speaker 1: I was thinking, maybe we could just say hi to
- 1:21Speaker 1: the new listeners here and give a quick backstory on
- 1:24Speaker 1: Girls Gone Hallmark and how that came about.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Let's do it. Go ahead, Well, the origin story of
- 1:34Speaker 2: Girls Gone Homewark is to take it way back. In
- 1:37Speaker 2: October of twenty twenty, we launched our other podcast, Long
- 1:41Speaker 2: Story Short with Megan and Wendy, and almost immediately thereafter, Wendy,
- 1:46Speaker 2: who had never seen a Hallmark movie, had the idea
- 1:50Speaker 2: to do a bonus episode for the Countdown to Christmas
- 1:53Speaker 2: season reviewing some of the Hallmark original movies. And I
- 1:56Speaker 2: think the plan at the time was for it to
- 1:58Speaker 2: be a limited run series, and it really resonated with people,
- 2:04Speaker 2: and so we kept doing it, but we kept it
- 2:06Speaker 2: as a bonus episode for entirely too long, right, And
- 2:10Speaker 2: in the fall of twenty twenty two, we finally gave
- 2:14Speaker 2: Girls Gone Hallmark its own home, so it exists as
- 2:17Speaker 2: its very own podcast, which is very exciting and since
- 2:21Speaker 2: then has really found its crowd. The Facebook group is growing,
- 2:25Speaker 2: the Instagram accounts growing, It's just its own little thing now.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Yeah, so welcome to all the new listeners.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Welcome and I want to say that. We hear some
- 2:35Speaker 2: people say like, wait, I'm a guy Gone Hallmark. Okay,
- 2:39Speaker 2: the girls in the Girl's Gone Hallmark are the two
- 2:42Speaker 2: of us? Yes, like, oh, we welcome everybody. You can
- 2:46Speaker 2: be a girl Gone Hallmark or a guy Gone Hallmark.
- 2:48Speaker 2: We're not suggesting that we're just for the ladies. It's
- 2:51Speaker 2: just happened to be the girls just a catchy name
- 2:53Speaker 2: for us. Yes, yes, exactly.
- 2:57Speaker 1: You want to talk to some Hallmark news and notes.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Do I have some ratings information from last weekend?
- 3:03Speaker 1: Okay?
- 3:04Speaker 2: The Way Home finale episode episode ten had one point
- 3:07Speaker 2: seven million viewers, making it the third most watched cable
- 3:11Speaker 2: program after only sports and The Ride premiere did very
- 3:17Speaker 2: well with one point three million viewers. It was the
- 3:21Speaker 2: seventh most watched cable program. I think placing it directly
- 3:24Speaker 2: after The Way Home was a great idea.
- 3:26Speaker 1: It was a good lead in. Yeah. But you know what,
- 3:29Speaker 1: I got to tell you that some feedback I've gotten
- 3:32Speaker 1: on Ride not about the show, but like a general
- 3:36Speaker 1: interest or is that people are not really into like
- 3:39Speaker 1: what I've been told westerns. This is not a Western obviously,
- 3:43Speaker 1: but like they're not drawn to the premise of the show.
- 3:47Speaker 2: I have heard that too, and I think it's a
- 3:51Speaker 2: very specific vibe. I mean, I would it has a
- 3:54Speaker 2: Western vibe, but it's not like a West Western movie,
- 3:58Speaker 2: you know, not like a boom boom, you know, when
- 4:01Speaker 2: I'm to shoot them up.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Yeah, like saloon doors open. Yeah, like that's what I'm
- 4:06Speaker 1: talking about.
- 4:07Speaker 2: Sure, Yeah, I think it's a specific vibe. I would
- 4:11Speaker 2: say that I might not have turned it on myself.
- 4:17Speaker 2: I'm enjoying it, honestly. I really like it. But I
- 4:21Speaker 2: kind of want to watch Yellowstone, but I feel like
- 4:22Speaker 2: it's going to stress me out because it's like violent
- 4:25Speaker 2: and stressful. So I'm like, oh, this is this is
- 4:27Speaker 2: right of mind.
- 4:27Speaker 1: I don't know if Yellowstone is for you.
- 4:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I kind of don't think it is, so I
- 4:32Speaker 2: need to watch the Hallmark version.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Yeah. And for those who don't know, we do recap
- 4:36Speaker 1: ride that comes out on Wednesdays, so it's a The
- 4:40Speaker 1: format's a little bit different than the movie reviews we do.
- 4:43Speaker 1: It's like a straight up scene by scene recap.
- 4:46Speaker 2: Yes, ma'am. What else do you have for news and notes?
- 4:49Speaker 1: One thing you didn't mention in ratings. Did you see
- 4:52Speaker 1: the numbers for a picture of her.
- 4:54Speaker 2: No, I didn't.
- 4:56Speaker 1: I don't have the specific numbers. All I know I
- 4:58Speaker 1: saw on the Hallmark Channel press release that it was
- 5:01Speaker 1: the number one most watched program of the week.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Wow, most watched entertainment program of.
- 5:08Speaker 1: All The headline said it was Hallmark Channel Delivers number
- 5:12Speaker 1: one most watched program of the week with a picture
- 5:14Speaker 1: of her. Look, I hear you googling. Are you gonna
- 5:17Speaker 1: pull me a number?
- 5:18Speaker 2: Well? I was gonna try and pull a number. I
- 5:20Speaker 2: just I think it's pretty easy to like manipulate the
- 5:23Speaker 2: numbers to make yourself number one in one category or another.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Right, because there's like sports and news above you. So hey,
- 5:31Speaker 1: we're number one, Right, we're the number one Tyler Hines
- 5:36Speaker 1: movie of all week.
- 5:38Speaker 2: Guys, exactly my point. It did have one point seven
- 5:44Speaker 2: million viewers.
- 5:45Speaker 1: That's the same as The Way Home.
- 5:47Speaker 2: It was blown out of the water by Basketball in
- 5:50Speaker 2: terms of viewership, but it was the most watched for Saturday,
- 5:56Speaker 2: at least after basketball.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Right. One last final Hallmark News. Yes, the Connecticut Patch.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Now you know the Patch is like a local online
- 6:09Speaker 1: newspaper website. Right. It has reported that two sites in
- 6:13Speaker 1: southeastern Connecticut are filming back to back Hallmark Movies there.
- 6:18Speaker 1: And this is according to an article release in The
- 6:21Speaker 1: London Day, which is some sort of news website too,
- 6:25Speaker 1: but it had a paywall and I couldn't access it,
- 6:27Speaker 1: so I have no information other than two movies are
- 6:31Speaker 1: being filmed there. I don't know what the titles are
- 6:33Speaker 1: and who might be starring in them. In them, no idea.
- 6:36Speaker 2: One of those is Michael Rady's movie.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Oh, how do we know that?
- 6:41Speaker 2: How do we know anything?
- 6:43Speaker 1: Okay, the internet? Oh that's right. Oh, and he's starring
- 6:49Speaker 1: opposite of that gorgeous blonde who was in that really
- 6:53Speaker 1: great Crisps movie, not the Avalanche movie, the one where,
- 6:57Speaker 1: like you know what I'm talking about, people are screaming.
- 7:01Speaker 1: It had the dude from Family Matters and they were
- 7:04Speaker 1: dead and then they went back in time.
- 7:07Speaker 2: Ghosts of Christmas Past. I didn't even make that connection.
- 7:12Speaker 1: Ghost of Christmas Always, I think is what it was called.
- 7:15Speaker 1: But she is the actress who I think is starring
- 7:19Speaker 1: opposite Michael Rady in this movie they're filming, right, Kim Metula.
- 7:23Speaker 1: Yes that's her name. Thank you for finally getting there.
- 7:29Speaker 1: She's gorge I'm so excited to see her in another movie.
- 7:32Speaker 2: That's a good pairing. A quick interruption, This is Megan here,
- 7:36Speaker 2: coming to you from the editing bay. Wanted to let
- 7:38Speaker 2: you know that we were so off base here. Kim
- 7:41Speaker 2: Metula is currently filming a movie with Kevin McGary in Colowna,
- 7:45Speaker 2: British Columbia. Michael Rady will star alongside another beautiful actress
- 7:50Speaker 2: in his movie, currently filming in Connecticut.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Back to the show.
- 7:55Speaker 2: Let's move on to a synopsis of Loving the Maldines.
- 7:58Speaker 1: All right, a travel writer goes to the Maldives. Maldives?
- 8:02Speaker 1: Did I say, let me start over? A travel writer
- 8:07Speaker 1: goes to the Maldives and hears about a legendary shipwreck.
- 8:11Speaker 1: With the help of her underwater resort guide guess experience expert,
- 8:17Speaker 1: she might discover love instead of a buried treasure. Woof,
- 8:21Speaker 1: I hate that synopsis.
- 8:23Speaker 2: Well, this movie was actually filmed in the Maldives, which
- 8:26Speaker 2: thrills me. Marada Hotel is actually the Morocca Hotel, which
- 8:31Speaker 2: is a Hilton fancy hotel, and that underwater room is
- 8:35Speaker 2: that real? We'll run you fifteen thousand dollars a night
- 8:38Speaker 2: should you decide to stay there.
- 8:40Speaker 1: It is real, No way, man, it is real. Can
- 8:44Speaker 1: you imagine laying there with all that ton of water
- 8:49Speaker 1: above your head?
- 8:50Speaker 2: No?
- 8:51Speaker 1: No, no, it's for my first impression, but no, it
- 8:55Speaker 1: truly gives me anxiety just to even think about it,
- 8:58Speaker 1: worse than the ice hotel.
- 9:00Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, you've taken the words right out of
- 9:01Speaker 2: my mouth. I will not tell you anything else.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Oh no, did I ruin your first impression?
- 9:06Speaker 2: So I'm still using it. We'll get there.
- 9:09Speaker 1: Hey, do you know that shipwreck in this movie is
- 9:12Speaker 1: actually real?
- 9:14Speaker 2: I learned that and was shocked.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Okay, I'm sure you have the note written down because
- 9:19Speaker 1: I'm not going to even attempt to. Uh.
- 9:21Speaker 2: I think it's Vavu.
- 9:23Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it goes by another name too, But
- 9:25Speaker 1: if you look up the Vavu shipwreck, it comes up.
- 9:28Speaker 1: It is thought to be an Indonesian ship that capsize
- 9:31Speaker 1: and washed ashore.
- 9:33Speaker 2: Yeah, lucky for them, that worked out really well.
- 9:35Speaker 1: Yeah, like that's interesting, good point. Megan came first? Which
- 9:41Speaker 1: came first?
- 9:42Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 9:43Speaker 1: Do you think the writers were like, Oh, there's this
- 9:45Speaker 1: really cool shipwreck out there, and let's write this story
- 9:47Speaker 1: around it. But then how do you get your production
- 9:51Speaker 1: crew to like okay on that? Like oubees for all
- 9:53Speaker 1: that I.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Don't know, but I will tell you no expense was
- 9:57Speaker 2: spared on the location budget for this movie.
- 9:59Speaker 1: For real. Did you know that the two leads are
- 10:02Speaker 1: married in real life?
- 10:04Speaker 2: I did because I wrote about it on our website. Yeah,
- 10:07Speaker 2: they eloped twenty twenty one.
- 10:10Speaker 1: Yet Jocelyn is it Hoodon mm hmmm and Jake Manly
- 10:15Speaker 1: are married. They met in twenty sixteen, they married in
- 10:18Speaker 1: twenty twenty one. They've been in a bunch of movies together.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Not anything I've seen before, except actually, I take that back,
- 10:25Speaker 1: I haven't seen this. They're in a show called The
- 10:27Speaker 1: Order on Netflix.
- 10:29Speaker 2: This is relevant to a point I'm going to make
- 10:31Speaker 2: in a future In addition, Josslyn Houdon previously starred in
- 10:35Speaker 2: Baby It's Cold Inside. Just just pin that information in
- 10:38Speaker 2: your brain for a moment. She's also a certified scuba diver,
- 10:42Speaker 2: which worked out well for the plot of this movie.
- 10:46Speaker 1: Yeah, I have a question about that a little bit
- 10:47Speaker 1: later on cool I'll ask you. Deborah is played by
- 10:50Speaker 1: Lucy Newman Williams, and I gotta say I very much
- 10:54Speaker 1: felt kismet to Deborah.
- 10:56Speaker 2: I loved her. YEP.
- 10:58Speaker 1: I like Deborah a lot.
- 10:59Speaker 2: Yeah, we can definitely. I related way more to her
- 11:03Speaker 2: than I did to Young Ray.
- 11:07Speaker 1: This is why you and I are friends.
- 11:10Speaker 2: This movie was directed by Colin Thas, who also co
- 11:13Speaker 2: wrote this movie. He has twenty one directing credits, including
- 11:17Speaker 2: Christmas at Pemberley Manor starring one Michael Rady.
- 11:21Speaker 1: The other writers were Juliana Wimble's and if he didn't know,
- 11:25Speaker 1: she also played Jewels, the hotel manager.
- 11:27Speaker 2: Lady oh nice, catch.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Yes, and Malcolm Wilkins, who doesn't have any other work
- 11:33Speaker 1: credited on IMDb.
- 11:35Speaker 2: Now he does. All right, let's hear those first impressions.
- 11:39Speaker 1: Do you want to go first?
- 11:41Speaker 2: I'm never sleeping in an ice hotel and I'm never
- 11:44Speaker 2: sleeping underwater.
- 11:46Speaker 1: I mean, which is worse?
- 11:48Speaker 2: Oh, I think the underwater is worse because I feel
- 11:52Speaker 2: like death would be imminent if there's a leak. But
- 11:55Speaker 2: if the ice hotel seems like it might be a
- 11:58Speaker 2: slower deterior should because my problem with the ice hotel is, hey,
- 12:02Speaker 2: it's uncomfortable, but be like, what if it melts and
- 12:04Speaker 2: then you're in big trouble. I feel like you'd have
- 12:06Speaker 2: a little bit of a warning if it were you
- 12:08Speaker 2: can escape if it's melting potentially, but if you spring
- 12:12Speaker 2: a leak underwater, it's goodbye George. Yeah.
- 12:15Speaker 1: I mean, look how fast a Titanic went down. There's
- 12:18Speaker 1: no freaking way like even if it was like a
- 12:21Speaker 1: small leak, the pressure alone from the ocean.
- 12:25Speaker 2: I'm so claustrophobic and the like claustrophobic underwater. And have
- 12:29Speaker 2: you ever seen on like the Travel Channel they have
- 12:31Speaker 2: those hotel rooms that you have to swim up underneath into. No,
- 12:36Speaker 2: I'm not doing that either, and there's like somehow they've
- 12:39Speaker 2: managed to like keep air inside absolutely nut.
- 12:44Speaker 1: I could never do it.
- 12:45Speaker 2: I am not a solow adventure traveler.
- 12:48Speaker 1: No, okay, are you ready for my first impression?
- 12:50Speaker 2: I am? Uh oh?
- 12:51Speaker 1: Is this another movie where I have to talk about
- 12:53Speaker 1: the leads?
- 12:53Speaker 2: Hair? Uh oh?
- 12:56Speaker 1: I'm making that emoji face like that?
- 12:59Speaker 2: Is that all we're gonna say about that? By the way,
- 13:04Speaker 2: did you hear that there was an article that came
- 13:06Speaker 2: out where Christopher Plaha said that was an intentional choice
- 13:09Speaker 2: because he wanted to look kind of like rumpled and
- 13:11Speaker 2: like he didn't have his s together.
- 13:13Speaker 1: Listen. I didn't read the article, but the Polaha fans
- 13:16Speaker 1: sure gave it to me In the DMS, so I
- 13:18Speaker 1: will never talk about mister Palaha's hair ever again, even
- 13:22Speaker 1: if it was a style choice for a movie role.
- 13:25Speaker 2: What did we like about this movie?
- 13:28Speaker 1: I'll go first, please. I thought the two leads Jocelyn
- 13:34Speaker 1: and Jake. Those are their real names, not there, but
- 13:37Speaker 1: they're what are there? Ray and Jared right correct. I
- 13:40Speaker 1: thought they had undeniable chemistry totally. It wasn't seen like
- 13:46Speaker 1: last week's Tyler Hines Rihanna Fish movie. But I thought
- 13:50Speaker 1: that they seemed incredibly comfortable with each other and were
- 13:55Speaker 1: having fun.
- 13:56Speaker 2: I comfortable is exactly the word I used to And
- 13:59Speaker 2: I think that's a good point because about them not
- 14:01Speaker 2: having like that hot, hot, steamy chemistry like we felt
- 14:04Speaker 2: in last week's movie, because some people were like, they
- 14:06Speaker 2: don't have chemistry, but it comes in different forms, and
- 14:09Speaker 2: I agree, they felt very comfortable. I like the way
- 14:13Speaker 2: they looked at each other when they kiss on the
- 14:16Speaker 2: beach and she just grabs him. I was like, that's
- 14:18Speaker 2: the kiss of people who are super comfortable. That was
- 14:21Speaker 2: like a.
- 14:21Speaker 1: Real kiss between the two people. Yeah.
- 14:24Speaker 2: Yeah, I didn't hate the mall deaves, I'll tell you
- 14:26Speaker 2: that was. I enjoyed it normally I'm not like the
- 14:30Speaker 2: scenery made the movie, and the scenery didn't make the
- 14:33Speaker 2: movie for me. But given that we have accidentally moved
- 14:38Speaker 2: to the Pacific Northwest.
- 14:39Speaker 1: Here and I.
- 14:43Speaker 2: Am like cautiously optimistic about summer, I thought I enjoyed
- 14:49Speaker 2: the filming location in spite of the fact that I'm
- 14:51Speaker 2: never swimming with sharks.
- 14:53Speaker 1: Well, let me give you a weather updated. It is
- 14:54Speaker 1: now raining in my backyard. I see, so it might
- 14:58Speaker 1: be raining here too. This earlier that I really liked
- 15:02Speaker 1: Deborah the Widow, but I really enjoyed the relationship between
- 15:06Speaker 1: Ray and Deborah, and I liked what they taught each other.
- 15:11Speaker 1: For me, those are the parts of the movie that
- 15:15Speaker 1: when I extract it, that's what I like about it.
- 15:18Speaker 1: That's the kind of messaging that I get, and maybe
- 15:21Speaker 1: it's personal to me instead of just being like, oh,
- 15:24Speaker 1: it was this cute, like romantic movie, Like, I really
- 15:28Speaker 1: liked that we have this older widow connecting with this
- 15:32Speaker 1: younger single gal and they have something to teach each other.
- 15:35Speaker 1: I just enjoyed it.
- 15:37Speaker 2: I like their interaction a lot too. It felt very real,
- 15:40Speaker 2: unbelievable to me. I also liked at the end of
- 15:43Speaker 2: the movie Jared's declaration that he was ready to travel
- 15:47Speaker 2: the world with Ray. Contrary to last week's movie where
- 15:51Speaker 2: I felt like, what's the actual future that these two
- 15:54Speaker 2: people have, they really didn't make that clear, like how
- 15:58Speaker 2: they're going to make their lives together. I feel like
- 16:01Speaker 2: we finally have two people whose lives work well together
- 16:05Speaker 2: in terms of his dreams and her dreams. And I
- 16:08Speaker 2: thought they complimented each other.
- 16:10Speaker 1: No one's giving up something for the other. Yeah, they're
- 16:14Speaker 1: they're like going on an adventure together.
- 16:17Speaker 2: Yeah, in a way that makes sense to me.
- 16:19Speaker 1: M yeah, I hear you. I hear you well, and
- 16:22Speaker 1: I will say at the end. I like that they
- 16:24Speaker 1: weren't like I love you, I love you too. It
- 16:26Speaker 1: was just like I'm falling for you, Like, yes, let's
- 16:29Speaker 1: be realistic. She's here for like a week. And I
- 16:33Speaker 1: know people don't want reality in their Hallmark movies. They
- 16:37Speaker 1: want a happy ending. But I liked that they just
- 16:40Speaker 1: kept it real, like not super cheesy romantic. I really
- 16:45Speaker 1: liked the cinematography when they were swimming under well, they
- 16:52Speaker 1: were swimming in the ocean, like doing the diving around
- 16:54Speaker 1: the like ship wreckage and all that stuff, but they
- 16:57Speaker 1: were like snorkeling, and I don't know if the one
- 17:00Speaker 1: time that I've ever snorkeled like my little tube like
- 17:03Speaker 1: stayed up above the water. So I have no idea
- 17:06Speaker 1: how you hold your breath for so long when you
- 17:08Speaker 1: dive under with a snorkel gear on.
- 17:11Speaker 2: I had the same thought, and I thought, with the
- 17:14Speaker 2: snorkel in my mouth, would I accidentally take a breath
- 17:18Speaker 2: and end up swallowing a lung full of water? But again,
- 17:22Speaker 2: I don't know how free diving works, and if you're
- 17:24Speaker 2: supposed to keep the snorkel in your mouth just so
- 17:26Speaker 2: you it's not flopping all around your head.
- 17:29Speaker 1: I don't know, dude, how do you hold your breath
- 17:31Speaker 1: for so long?
- 17:31Speaker 2: Oh? Well, I'm old and they're young and have greater
- 17:35Speaker 2: lung capacity than I do. Yeah.
- 17:37Speaker 1: Well, I just thought that scene was really cool, and
- 17:39Speaker 1: I wondered if that was really them. Now I know
- 17:42Speaker 1: that you said that Joscelyn Houdon dives. She's like a
- 17:45Speaker 1: certified diver, so maybe it was her, But I have
- 17:48Speaker 1: no idea.
- 17:49Speaker 2: I thought it looked like her. I was trying. I
- 17:53Speaker 2: really thought it looked like her.
- 17:54Speaker 1: I gotta say, and this is a personal note, like
- 17:57Speaker 1: I would never want anybody filming me swimming underwater in
- 18:01Speaker 1: a really cute bathing suit because it would just be like, no,
- 18:04Speaker 1: it just would be it's not a good look. I
- 18:07Speaker 1: thought those scenes were really well done.
- 18:09Speaker 2: Agree, I liked all that underwater filming as well.
- 18:13Speaker 1: She just made it like beautiful, Like I would just
- 18:15Speaker 1: look like a struggling for air. I do know what email,
- 18:22Speaker 1: I just kid in my face, you look crazy like
- 18:24Speaker 1: there's just no.
- 18:25Speaker 2: Way, racing for the surface to get a breast totally.
- 18:29Speaker 1: Did you have anything else you liked? Ooh, that's a
- 18:31Speaker 1: bad sign. It's not okay what you wish for.
- 18:34Speaker 2: This movie was overall pretty enjoyable to me. However, it
- 18:39Speaker 2: had one glaring problem and I saw it coming from
- 18:43Speaker 2: across the sea, and I wish it hadn't taken the
- 18:47Speaker 2: exact same conflict that we saw in movies like Chasing
- 18:53Speaker 2: Waterfalls and Journey of My Heart, where the conflict is
- 18:57Speaker 2: created because the main character forgets how the internet works.
- 19:02Speaker 2: When they took the selfie in front of the shipwreck,
- 19:05Speaker 2: I was like, oh, there you go, relationships over because
- 19:08Speaker 2: it's gonna accidentally go to the editor and this is
- 19:11Speaker 2: gonna be the story you want. Yeah.
- 19:12Speaker 1: I was like, really, we're doing this again. But if
- 19:15Speaker 1: I could also point out that like back to back
- 19:19Speaker 1: movies with an accidental photo, because it got shared to
- 19:23Speaker 1: the editor like on accident, Right, it wasn't like a
- 19:26Speaker 1: geotag situation like those two movies that you mentioned.
- 19:29Speaker 2: Yeah, not a geotag situation. Was just in their shared drive.
- 19:33Speaker 1: Right, and that's same. That's what happened last week too,
- 19:36Speaker 1: And I was like, really, side I back to back
- 19:38Speaker 1: movies with an accidental photo that got sent and then whoa,
- 19:42Speaker 1: everybody's world gets turned upside down, like shut up, yeah
- 19:47Speaker 1: what I oh, okay this. I'm not being overly critical here,
- 19:52Speaker 1: but I enjoyed Jocelyn. I have a really hard time
- 19:56Speaker 1: saying that name. Jocelyn Hoodon better than her counterpart. I
- 20:00Speaker 1: thought she out acted him in every scene.
- 20:02Speaker 2: Oh.
- 20:03Speaker 1: I didn't think he was a bad actor, and obviously
- 20:06Speaker 1: he's not. He does a lot of work. But I
- 20:09Speaker 1: think she's better of the two. Like I found her
- 20:13Speaker 1: far more believable. Mm hmmm. That's my opinion. We have
- 20:17Speaker 1: always been truthful in our reviews, right, and we're not
- 20:23Speaker 1: coming for anybody. I'm not trying to tell everybody that
- 20:26Speaker 1: they're terrible. I'm just saying I thought she was a
- 20:29Speaker 1: better actor.
- 20:31Speaker 2: I think she's clearly the star of this movie for me,
- 20:34Speaker 2: And in terms of the people who I was invested in,
- 20:38Speaker 2: it was Ray than Deborah than Jared.
- 20:42Speaker 1: Yeah, dude, I'm not buying the story that he wants
- 20:45Speaker 1: to create this like mindful workshop internationally. I'm like, any
- 20:50Speaker 1: Yahoo can do that on the internet.
- 20:51Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that's a good point. Does he need to
- 20:53Speaker 2: be implementing it himself?
- 20:56Speaker 1: Right?
- 20:57Speaker 2: Sell an ebook, dude?
- 20:59Speaker 1: Yeah sure, Okay, one small note, I'm gonna mention the hair.
- 21:04Speaker 1: I think it was a real choice for this movie. Now.
- 21:06Speaker 1: I did my research hair and I looked at tons
- 21:09Speaker 1: of photos of the sky.
- 21:10Speaker 2: I just gonna look and see what he looks like
- 21:12Speaker 2: in other photos.
- 21:13Speaker 1: He does not have awful hair. He has a range
- 21:17Speaker 1: of like short hair and long hair and blonde and
- 21:19Speaker 1: dark and all over the place. And so perhaps I
- 21:23Speaker 1: don't know it just the real blonde tips were not
- 21:26Speaker 1: doing it for me here.
- 21:27Speaker 2: Yeah. They were trying to make him like the beach dude,
- 21:31Speaker 2: like the yoga beach dude. Yeah, with that blonde hair.
- 21:34Speaker 1: Yeah, I just found it to be a little distracting.
- 21:38Speaker 2: I don't think you need to be blonde to be
- 21:39Speaker 2: on the beach. You ready for Did you see that? Yes?
- 21:42Speaker 2: Did you notice that you got your Homer Simpson backing
- 21:45Speaker 2: into the bushes moment that you we mentioned in a
- 21:49Speaker 2: previous episode. Oh, it was the way home.
- 21:52Speaker 1: Yes, Okay, it's triggering some memories because I think when
- 21:56Speaker 1: I watched this, I thought about that, but I can't
- 21:57Speaker 1: remember the exact scene. What happened.
- 21:59Speaker 2: The scene is he's hiking through the jungle, I guess,
- 22:03Speaker 2: and she accidentally bursts out onto the beach where he's
- 22:07Speaker 2: there doing his breathwork class, and she does not want
- 22:10Speaker 2: to be there, and she kind of like, I'm just
- 22:13Speaker 2: gonna keep hiking again, and she do do do do
- 22:17Speaker 2: backs right into the jungle. And there was nothing remarkable
- 22:20Speaker 2: about it except that it triggered that moment where we
- 22:23Speaker 2: talked about Cat kind of disappearing into she wanted her to. Yeah,
- 22:28Speaker 2: that's all you know.
- 22:29Speaker 1: That seems kind of funny, Like when she comes out,
- 22:31Speaker 1: her hair's all tossled and she's like a mess. It
- 22:34Speaker 1: was pretty funny. I gotta say that was pretty funny.
- 22:37Speaker 2: Humidity got her.
- 22:38Speaker 1: Yeah, when Ray arrives at the hotel and she's like
- 22:41Speaker 1: greeted with like a flower lay, and then she's the
- 22:45Speaker 1: hotel manager lady is like, which one's your bag? Let
- 22:48Speaker 1: us get your bag. Ray like throws down the lay
- 22:51Speaker 1: like josses it to the ground and grabs her bag.
- 22:54Speaker 1: And I was like, oh she does, yes, And I
- 22:57Speaker 1: was like, that would be so rude to your in
- 23:00Speaker 1: a foreign country. You would never like be so disrespectful.
- 23:05Speaker 1: I don't think, No, keep l on until you get
- 23:07Speaker 1: to your room, especially as this girl's like this world traveler.
- 23:12Speaker 2: You know she would never That's bizarre. Also, her bag
- 23:15Speaker 2: was entirely too empty. Oh yes, yes, yes, yes, too empty.
- 23:19Speaker 2: And I think it was even mentioned in our Facebook
- 23:21Speaker 2: groups like where was she carrying all the dresses and
- 23:24Speaker 2: the heels of.
- 23:25Speaker 1: Everything for her?
- 23:26Speaker 2: Did you notice that the silent disco dance that they
- 23:31Speaker 2: held was in Ray's hotel room?
- 23:34Speaker 1: Cool?
- 23:34Speaker 2: Weird out the furniture, it's the same room. I would
- 23:38Speaker 2: steak very little on it, but I'm pretty sure that
- 23:41Speaker 2: it's the same hotel room.
- 23:42Speaker 1: I didn't notice. What I did notice is that they
- 23:45Speaker 1: used like air pods for that. Yeah, like everyone I've
- 23:48Speaker 1: ever seen, they wear like the big huge like headphones.
- 23:51Speaker 2: They were like, crew, bring your AirPods to.
- 23:53Speaker 1: Set right totally. And the other thing that I thought
- 23:57Speaker 1: was so funny is like they were talking to each other.
- 24:01Speaker 1: I was like, how are you? I don't know. Now.
- 24:04Speaker 1: Do I think I would have fun at a silent disco? Yes?
- 24:07Speaker 1: I do think I would. Would you could you like
- 24:09Speaker 1: let those inhibitions go and just like you down?
- 24:13Speaker 2: You know? So I've never been to one, but I
- 24:16Speaker 2: know people who've done it for high school dances. Oh,
- 24:19Speaker 2: and you know that. I don't know if this is
- 24:21Speaker 2: how every silent disco works, but there's different music you
- 24:24Speaker 2: can choose from. Oh interesting, So not everybody's dancing to
- 24:29Speaker 2: the same music.
- 24:30Speaker 1: That's gotta be wild to watch, right ife, Yeah, like
- 24:33Speaker 1: you got like some people dancing to like emo music
- 24:37Speaker 1: or punk music, hip hop music. Whoa totally crazy.
- 24:41Speaker 2: Have you ever seen the behind the scenes of a
- 24:43Speaker 2: TV show where they're filming a dancing scene and you
- 24:46Speaker 2: realize there's no actual music playing, so those actors are
- 24:49Speaker 2: just dancing and it's silent, and all you hear is
- 24:51Speaker 2: like their feet Like always.
- 24:53Speaker 1: I always noticed that in movies, especially like the movies
- 24:57Speaker 1: of the early two thousands, where they're like high school movies.
- 25:00Speaker 1: Kids at parties and they're like dancing in the back
- 25:02Speaker 1: and they're like, what are you dancing too? Not the
- 25:05Speaker 1: music that's playing through the TV right now.
- 25:06Speaker 2: So I feel like that's what it would look like
- 25:08Speaker 2: like if someone took their headphones off, everyone would just
- 25:10Speaker 2: look like a boso. So that's my that's my beer,
- 25:13Speaker 2: because everyone in this case kind of did look like
- 25:16Speaker 2: a bozo. And I thought, like, I hope they marked
- 25:19Speaker 2: their AirPods because I don't want someone else's AirPods somebody.
- 25:22Speaker 1: Oh gross, I hope so too.
- 25:25Speaker 2: They just didn't have the budget for giant island disco headphones.
- 25:28Speaker 1: Yeah, because they're in them freaking Maldives. That's why are
- 25:32Speaker 1: we gonna talk about the turtle?
- 25:34Speaker 2: Oh? I mean, what are you gonna do?
- 25:37Speaker 1: I would imagine there's real turtles around there somewhere. Somebody
- 25:41Speaker 1: couldn't get a b roll shot of a real turtle
- 25:44Speaker 1: and said they have like some cgi turtle. Am I
- 25:47Speaker 1: watching a Disney movie? It was awful?
- 25:50Speaker 2: Oh. I was checking because I wanted to make sure
- 25:53Speaker 2: that sea turtles actually were in the Maldives. It is
- 25:56Speaker 2: home to five of the seven species of sea turtles. Yeah,
- 25:59Speaker 2: I thought the baby sea Turtle release, I thought that
- 26:02Speaker 2: was b role, like all of the scenes of the
- 26:05Speaker 2: sea turtle not actually in their hands. I was like,
- 26:07Speaker 2: that's got to be like b roll because it was
- 26:09Speaker 2: pretty perfect. Yeah, you're right, surely they've got some turtle
- 26:13Speaker 2: swimming close to the surface b roll. It honestly didn't
- 26:18Speaker 2: bother me a lot, my gosh. I just was like, yeah,
- 26:21Speaker 2: they needed a turtle in that moment. What did a
- 26:23Speaker 2: post do you?
- 26:25Speaker 1: What do you think about it? When they were like
- 26:27Speaker 1: playing in the water and it was like that bioluminescence
- 26:31Speaker 1: is that what it's called?
- 26:32Speaker 2: It is?
- 26:33Speaker 1: Do you think that was real?
- 26:34Speaker 2: I wondered, I mean, I've seen have you ever seen
- 26:37Speaker 2: the bioluminescence here.
- 26:40Speaker 1: In twenty twenty it was like a big deal when
- 26:42Speaker 1: we were like in lockdown and we had went out
- 26:44Speaker 1: to the beach at night and looked at it.
- 26:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I've seen it. I was trying to dredge up
- 26:49Speaker 2: a memory of what it looks like. I thought that
- 26:52Speaker 2: was pretty bright for bioluminis I don't think it's that
- 26:56Speaker 2: like light your faces with an underglow?
- 26:59Speaker 1: Oh no, oh oh no no.
- 27:01Speaker 2: So that might have been a little bit of an
- 27:04Speaker 2: edit there too. Yeah, I wonder what did you rate
- 27:07Speaker 2: Love in them Aldis.
- 27:09Speaker 1: I came in thinking I was really gonna hate this movie.
- 27:12Speaker 1: I didn't. I gave it Thre're gonna have stars.
- 27:14Speaker 2: I gave it three.
- 27:15Speaker 1: I will say, how did I give it a better
- 27:18Speaker 1: rating than you? I don't understand.
- 27:20Speaker 2: I think, yeah, three is a good rating for me.
- 27:22Speaker 2: I was not looking to forward to this movie as well.
- 27:25Speaker 2: We actually got some messages not hosted in the group
- 27:29Speaker 2: that were like, I'm really sorry you have to review
- 27:30Speaker 2: this movie. There was some negativity about this movie in
- 27:34Speaker 2: the group, which is fine. I was surprised actually by
- 27:39Speaker 2: this movie, pleasantly surprised. Do you feel like it was
- 27:44Speaker 2: a typical Hallmark movie? I don't feel like it wasn't,
- 27:47Speaker 2: but I feel like you feel like it was not.
- 27:50Speaker 1: No, I feel like it was. Yeah. I've sometimes I
- 27:53Speaker 1: feel like I wonder if writers like present these movies
- 27:58Speaker 1: to Hallmark and then Hallmarks sometimes like puts their homewarks
- 28:02Speaker 1: smart on him. Yeah, hallmarks them up. Yeah, exactly. Yeah,
- 28:06Speaker 1: some of these I feel like, whoah, I see lots
- 28:08Speaker 1: of perfect potential and then it just like falls back
- 28:10Speaker 1: into like okay, that's what I expected.
- 28:13Speaker 2: I guess I don't disagree. Like when we go back
- 28:15Speaker 2: to I think sometimes they hallmark up the conflict, Like again,
- 28:20Speaker 2: we get this conflict that's very similar to your right.
- 28:23Speaker 2: It's an amalgam of a picture of her and chasing waterfalls.
- 28:27Speaker 2: I don't think we needed that. We had enough conflict
- 28:30Speaker 2: with Ray trying to figure out like who am I
- 28:33Speaker 2: as a writer? Now? Am I like the the solo traveler?
- 28:37Speaker 2: Or do I need to evolve? And Deborah learning how
- 28:42Speaker 2: to be solo and all these other things. They just
- 28:44Speaker 2: feel like they need this big, like Caple conflict.
- 28:46Speaker 1: Mm hmm.
- 28:47Speaker 2: Sometimes we don't. Sometimes it can be softer than that.
- 28:50Speaker 1: I agree.
- 28:50Speaker 2: Tomorrow will be back with an recap of Rye episode two.
