Ottis Toole: The Arsonist Who Confessed to 100 Murders (Including Adam Walsh)
In July 1981, six-year-old Adam Walsh vanished from a Sears store in Hollywood, Florida. Two weeks later, only his severed head was found.
The man who eventually claimed responsibility was Ottis Elwood Toole — a low-IQ drifter, serial arsonist, and partner of Henry Lee Lucas. Together they confessed to more than a hundred murders across America. Most of those confessions later collapsed. Six of Toole’s killings were proven. One case — Adam Walsh’s — was officially closed in 2008 with Toole named as the killer, even though key evidence had been lost and his stories kept changing.
