- 0:00Speaker 1: Good team. I hope your bloody terrific. Welcome to another
- 0:02Speaker 1: installment the show. This is the continuation Slow Down, Craig.
- 0:07Speaker 1: This is the continuation of the chat with Greg Riley
- 0:10Speaker 1: and myself that we began yesterday. If you heard yesterday's show,
- 0:16Speaker 1: If you didn't, probably need to listen to that one first. Nonetheless,
- 0:20Speaker 1: here's part two. I loved this chat. I hope you
- 0:24Speaker 1: do too. So let's open another door, and that is
- 0:29Speaker 1: the the conversation around getting into altered states using various things.
- 0:38Speaker 2: We'll just say that, we'll just say that you I've been.
- 0:44Speaker 1: A psychedelic experimenter and but which is ironic because you are,
- 0:53Speaker 1: you know, and I love you. But this boring middle
- 0:56Speaker 1: aged bloke with glasses who works in a bank, it's
- 1:02Speaker 1: so weird. Who doesn't smoke And I don't know if
- 1:05Speaker 1: you drink, but you definitely don't drink a lot, and
- 1:08Speaker 1: you're in good shape and you're fit, and you're an
- 1:10Speaker 1: ex footballer and yeah, it just doesn't So how did
- 1:15Speaker 1: how did that happen? How did you open the psychedelic door? Why? Why? Like?
- 1:20Speaker 1: What do you? Oh?
- 1:22Speaker 2: Look, it was a client rend me once and she
- 1:25Speaker 2: said I'm having these issues, can you help me?
- 1:28Speaker 3: And then after about talking about twenty it's.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Like, I can't help you with this, this stuff I
- 1:32Speaker 2: can't help you with and we're talking about, Okay, what
- 1:34Speaker 2: are you doing this weekend? I'm going up to this retreat. Yeah,
- 1:38Speaker 2: I'm going to have to say, Ahascar retreat. And it's like, really,
- 1:41Speaker 2: so you go to South America for that stuff? She said, no, no,
- 1:43Speaker 2: come along. Okay, So it came along this the person
- 1:48Speaker 2: I have done anything outside of my other recreational drugs
- 1:51Speaker 2: I shoved in my body when my early twenties, I
- 1:55Speaker 2: sat in this circle and there was about twelve was
- 1:57Speaker 2: in there in someone's garage and up in the bush
- 2:01Speaker 2: and you go around. Basically you drink aoh oscar and
- 2:04Speaker 2: you go around the circle. And I was second up,
- 2:08Speaker 2: and I like to think that due to my history
- 2:12Speaker 2: that can probably take a fair bit of you know, substances.
- 2:15Speaker 3: And they gave.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Me a fair light dose first up, and then so
- 2:19Speaker 2: the first guy took his drink and then it came
- 2:21Speaker 2: to me and I took it and tastes like dirt
- 2:23Speaker 2: down to it, and they say it's about it takes
- 2:25Speaker 2: about twenty minutes to forty minutes to kick in.
- 2:29Speaker 3: I really got to person seven and I was on
- 2:31Speaker 3: the floor. I was dribbling.
- 2:33Speaker 2: I gone, literally, I was out cold like that. Had
- 2:36Speaker 2: to basically get me out of the circle, take me outside.
- 2:39Speaker 2: The next moment I wake up, this has probably been
- 2:41Speaker 2: about half an hour.
- 2:42Speaker 3: I was out cold. I woke up.
- 2:44Speaker 2: I thought, oh, I should kissed myself like I felt
- 2:46Speaker 2: like I had actually bet the bed and then Greg okay.
- 2:50Speaker 2: So I woke up basically and the Sharman's over me.
- 2:53Speaker 2: He's blowing smoking me, someone girl singing, He's got all
- 2:55Speaker 2: that kind of stuff, and it's like, are you okay,
- 2:57Speaker 2: You're okay?
- 2:57Speaker 3: And I went I think I was just weave myst it.
- 2:59Speaker 2: Guess no, no, you're alive now. I actually felt this thing
- 3:03Speaker 2: come out of me. I felt it again. This people
- 3:06Speaker 2: gonna go. He finally just flipped his lid. I felt
- 3:09Speaker 2: this thing lift out of my body and leave. And
- 3:15Speaker 2: the moment that left, I woke, I went, holy shit,
- 3:20Speaker 2: I can just see life as it really is now,
- 3:23Speaker 2: Like there was there was something inside me that it
- 3:26Speaker 2: just I saw it come out through the top of
- 3:28Speaker 2: my head. And when it came out, I've never felt well.
- 3:31Speaker 2: I felt good since then, But that was the first
- 3:33Speaker 2: time he used a psychedelics.
- 3:34Speaker 3: I felt anything about I.
- 3:35Speaker 2: Was connected to everything, the whole shitting match, everybody, everything,
- 3:40Speaker 2: the whole light, and I saw everything. There was a
- 3:43Speaker 2: weird experience, and then it was just I went, okay, right,
- 3:47Speaker 2: this that's pretty cool.
- 3:51Speaker 1: Hang on, hang on, just fucking steady on back, hang on,
- 3:56Speaker 1: hang on. Okay. So you took some iowas car and
- 4:00Speaker 1: you woke up half an hour later? Was it actually
- 4:03Speaker 1: half an hour?
- 4:04Speaker 3: It was about half an hour?
- 4:05Speaker 1: Yeah, right, And when you said this entity left your
- 4:10Speaker 1: body obviously not a physical thing, but like a spiritual
- 4:16Speaker 1: or was it emotional? Was it mental?
- 4:19Speaker 3: Was it? It was this thing that like a robotic thing.
- 4:24Speaker 2: There was attached around my spine and my around my
- 4:28Speaker 2: head and my neck.
- 4:29Speaker 3: It was. It came out. It was like metallic.
- 4:31Speaker 2: I could taste oil in my mouth when it was
- 4:33Speaker 2: coming out, like a sort of a robotic AI implant
- 4:37Speaker 2: kind of stuff.
- 4:38Speaker 3: Wow, And I can actually.
- 4:40Speaker 2: See it coming out, and then when it lifted out.
- 4:42Speaker 2: I've never ever felt well, have since, but that was
- 4:46Speaker 2: the first time I went oh wow.
- 4:49Speaker 1: This and that was that moment. Then, in terms of
- 4:54Speaker 1: just an experience, and a feeling. Is that the best
- 4:58Speaker 1: you've ever felt?
- 5:01Speaker 3: Wow?
- 5:01Speaker 1: How old were you then?
- 5:03Speaker 3: Fifteen years ago? Now so thirty five?
- 5:07Speaker 1: Wow? Yeah, so you're thirty five years old. You've gone
- 5:10Speaker 1: on this. Okay, sorry to interrupt, I'm just trying because
- 5:14Speaker 1: you know, I ring the cops if I'm going to
- 5:17Speaker 1: take an as bro right like, yeah, yeah, all right?
- 5:22Speaker 1: So you did.
- 5:23Speaker 2: That that and then I went, Okay, there's something in this,
- 5:26Speaker 2: so I did a learn about it. So I say
- 5:27Speaker 2: then to really, you know, dive deep into the there
- 5:32Speaker 2: arapeutical uses of psychedelics in that space. So mainly the AOASCAR.
- 5:38Speaker 2: I've done five VODMT, which is the is the frog venom,
- 5:42Speaker 2: which you actually then smoke as well too. Yeah, actually
- 5:46Speaker 2: into LSD, mushrooms, MDMA and all that kind of stuff, right,
- 5:50Speaker 2: So so you sort of but it's all about therapeutic use.
- 5:55Speaker 2: So people kind of think that I'll go and have
- 5:57Speaker 2: an AOSC experience, I'll come out, I'll be all here
- 6:00Speaker 2: and I don't have to do anything.
- 6:01Speaker 3: It's no, that's not the case.
- 6:03Speaker 2: The spiritual healing of these plants a lay to access
- 6:07Speaker 2: places beyond your conscious mind so you can deal with
- 6:11Speaker 2: them yourself too. Many people go into these psychedelic experiences
- 6:14Speaker 2: thinking that the plant's going to do the work for me.
- 6:17Speaker 2: I can then come home and all my traumas solved. No,
- 6:20Speaker 2: the integration parts, the vital part of actually this you
- 6:23Speaker 2: haven't experienced.
- 6:24Speaker 3: When you come home, you have to do the work again,
- 6:27Speaker 3: you know.
- 6:27Speaker 2: So that's why people get a bit funny with the
- 6:29Speaker 2: wrong impression with psychedelics. But but then, yeah, I become
- 6:33Speaker 2: an avid, avid journeyer and an avid learner of everything
- 6:40Speaker 2: I get my hands onto from a research perspective in
- 6:44Speaker 2: the field. So I sort of you know, linked up
- 6:46Speaker 2: with some key people in the Australian you know, psychedelic community,
- 6:49Speaker 2: and you know sort of become friends with them as
- 6:52Speaker 2: well too, and you know, we sort of share stories.
- 6:54Speaker 3: And then yeah.
- 6:57Speaker 2: Went down that journey of experiencing Okay, what can you
- 7:00Speaker 2: show me and ceremony about the nature of who we
- 7:02Speaker 2: really are and you know, why we're here and nature consciousness.
- 7:05Speaker 2: And I've had some experiences and then we's have been
- 7:08Speaker 2: literally like I've been crying into a bucket bucket for
- 7:12Speaker 2: two hours. Yeah, you know, I've been I've had times
- 7:15Speaker 2: where I've seen, you know, I've died and basically from
- 7:19Speaker 2: complete ego death and had to say goodbye to my
- 7:21Speaker 2: wife and kids.
- 7:22Speaker 3: I was sobbing for two.
- 7:23Speaker 2: Hours and then break through and realize that, you know,
- 7:25Speaker 2: it's it's all a contract of my mind. Right when
- 7:29Speaker 2: you go deep into that place of reality, is just
- 7:31Speaker 2: what you perceive or project based on what you believe,
- 7:34Speaker 2: Like it's it's confronting stuff like.
- 7:36Speaker 3: It's it's you can't, I would not if you're not
- 7:40Speaker 3: ready for this, it will screw you up, if you're not.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Ready to actually understand the nature of reality, that the
- 7:46Speaker 2: fact is that you create the reality to the way
- 7:48Speaker 2: you perceive it the way you think.
- 7:52Speaker 3: You just you just you can't handle it. You'll lose
- 7:54Speaker 3: the plot.
- 7:56Speaker 1: M Do you feel like that? Like? I feel like
- 8:01Speaker 1: our mind is a gift and sometimes a problem, right
- 8:04Speaker 1: because we need our mind because it helps us navigate
- 8:06Speaker 1: life and you know, think critically and make decisions and
- 8:09Speaker 1: all those very fundamental practical things that we need to
- 8:12Speaker 1: be a human being. You know, make a few bucks
- 8:15Speaker 1: and feed the kids and have a conversation like we're
- 8:17Speaker 1: doing right now. It's important and valuable, of course, but
- 8:23Speaker 1: at the other end of the scale, sometimes it's a
- 8:25Speaker 1: thing that gets in the road of what's beyond the mind.
- 8:29Speaker 1: And it's like, yeah, and by the way, I don't
- 8:32Speaker 1: know what that is, but I definitely think that there's
- 8:37Speaker 1: more than I understand, more than I can comprehend. And
- 8:41Speaker 1: I feel like if I.
- 8:42Speaker 4: Said all there is is the all that I know,
- 8:47Speaker 4: what I know, that's all there is, what I understand,
- 8:49Speaker 4: that's all there is, well one, i'd be wrong too.
- 8:52Speaker 1: I'd be super arrogant, you know. And that like if
- 8:57Speaker 1: there's do you feel like we're psychedelics? It gives you
- 9:03Speaker 1: access to something that you can't have access.
- 9:06Speaker 2: To with your mind, absolutely, because most people think they
- 9:09Speaker 2: live inside their head, they think they exist inside their brain.
- 9:12Speaker 3: And that's that's the first part, is that you don't
- 9:15Speaker 3: like it.
- 9:16Speaker 2: And you know, I think we've had conversations about before
- 9:18Speaker 2: about the nature of thought. Lord, does the brain actually
- 9:20Speaker 2: think or is it just a receiver?
- 9:23Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 9:24Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm of the perception that the brain is not
- 9:26Speaker 2: a thinker. It's just it's just the radio.
- 9:29Speaker 3: You know.
- 9:29Speaker 2: The I think in your recent course you've got out
- 9:32Speaker 2: you do that analogy is that the radio waves are
- 9:35Speaker 2: already in the air. The radio is a part that
- 9:37Speaker 2: actually disciples waves and then translated the music.
- 9:40Speaker 3: Well, that's our brain.
- 9:42Speaker 2: I'm of the similar kind of ilk that thoughts are
- 9:45Speaker 2: already in the consciousness. We're just attreating to those thoughts.
- 9:48Speaker 2: And I think there's been studies done. The fact is,
- 9:50Speaker 2: you know, there's when does the thought actually even happen?
- 9:54Speaker 1: Mmmmmmm, And then and then you love, oh yeah, and
- 9:58Speaker 1: then you get weirder and go. Actually, I had to
- 10:01Speaker 1: disappoint everyone. But there's no such thing as the mind. Correct,
- 10:05Speaker 1: there's no mind. We don't have a mind, just a conduct.
- 10:08Speaker 1: There's no such thing as greg.
- 10:12Speaker 2: Or go on, well greg was what I was told
- 10:15Speaker 2: that I was, but of a birth certificate. But that's
- 10:18Speaker 2: just someone someone called me like you know again, like
- 10:21Speaker 2: I'm not my job, that's what I do, but it's
- 10:24Speaker 2: not who I am, you know, it's not my bank
- 10:27Speaker 2: though it's the car.
- 10:28Speaker 3: I drive where I live.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Those are all constructs of society and constructions to allow
- 10:33Speaker 2: us to integrate the three dimensional world. Like we need
- 10:35Speaker 2: to have these constructs so we can engage in this
- 10:38Speaker 2: three dimensional world to have an experience of life like
- 10:40Speaker 2: there is again we go, there is no purpose to life.
- 10:44Speaker 2: We have this thing where we're so stuck on. We
- 10:46Speaker 2: must have a purpose. Life's purpose is to experience. That's it,
- 10:52Speaker 2: no more, no less. But we get obsessed with them.
- 10:55Speaker 2: I must save the world, I must have My purpose
- 10:58Speaker 2: is to get ten thousand followers or a million followers.
- 11:00Speaker 2: And that's something you do. The only pure purpose of
- 11:04Speaker 2: life in itself is to experience life.
- 11:07Speaker 3: Couldn't the band the Ugly Mmmm that?
- 11:13Speaker 1: And if we scrub your name off your birth certificate,
- 11:16Speaker 1: if we scrub Gregor and nobody in the world knows
- 11:19Speaker 1: your name, you still exist. You haven't gone anywhere. That
- 11:23Speaker 1: exactly the bloke that I'm looking at right now, still
- 11:26Speaker 1: as as being still traversing the big round blue ball,
- 11:29Speaker 1: still doing life.
- 11:30Speaker 2: And what do you change my day? By deep alt
- 11:33Speaker 2: to Steve? Okay, Steve, Yeah, all of a sudden I changed.
- 11:38Speaker 2: But still, you know, we were so stuck in our
- 11:42Speaker 2: illusion of the ego.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Well, it's like me me thinking I'm an ever Last
- 11:49Speaker 1: T shirt wearing an ever Last T shirt. Yeah, you know,
- 11:53Speaker 1: that's how you go, there's Craig's where's Craig? He's the
- 11:57Speaker 1: guy over there in the black ever Last T shirt.
- 12:00Speaker 1: You know, that's how we can identify things.
- 12:03Speaker 2: But you need it to drive the car, right, you
- 12:05Speaker 2: need you need the physical experience, you need to go
- 12:07Speaker 2: to drive the experience. Right, That's that's why it's there.
- 12:10Speaker 2: So you need to have these things, but they're not you.
- 12:14Speaker 2: It's I think Peter Crone says this, I'm going to
- 12:15Speaker 2: rip him off here, right, But it's like us driving
- 12:17Speaker 2: a car with me thinking the weather car.
- 12:20Speaker 1: Yes, yes, And also I reckon there's another part to that,
- 12:24Speaker 1: and that is I think the car, the car, the
- 12:29Speaker 1: car that we're driving, has got so much more potential
- 12:34Speaker 1: than we understand. It's like even with I was talking
- 12:39Speaker 1: to somebody the other day, and I need to tread
- 12:42Speaker 1: carefully here because this is just what I think, and
- 12:45Speaker 1: I could be wrong, but I feel like we humans
- 12:51Speaker 1: have pretty much the ability to heal ourselves from anything.
- 12:56Speaker 1: You know, there's a few variables and a few caveats
- 12:59Speaker 1: around that. But I think that the problem is that
- 13:04Speaker 1: we don't know how to drive our own body. We
- 13:06Speaker 1: don't know how to harness our own capacity and potential.
- 13:11Speaker 1: We don't realize and I mean realize in the cognitive sense,
- 13:15Speaker 1: but also in the behavioral output sense. We don't realize
- 13:19Speaker 1: how fucking amazing we can be and that you know
- 13:22Speaker 1: you said before you're fascinated with the mind. Me too.
- 13:26Speaker 1: I'm obsessed with potential and not oh how many listeners
- 13:30Speaker 1: can you get or how much dough can you make?
- 13:32Speaker 1: But just you know, we had a guy and called
- 13:35Speaker 1: Professor Jeffrey Retteger from Harvard Medical School. And if you
- 13:40Speaker 1: haven't heard that, you'd like that. So he's a research
- 13:43Speaker 1: he's an academic, he's a psychiatrist, a medical doctor. And
- 13:47Speaker 1: he kept getting over time these people going hey, doc,
- 13:50Speaker 1: could you look at this? And it was all of
- 13:53Speaker 1: these cases of people who had terminal illnesses who ended
- 13:58Speaker 1: up being healed, like not in remission, no nothing, no disease,
- 14:04Speaker 1: and he's like, noth doesn't happen, not can't happen. And
- 14:07Speaker 1: eventually someone that he really trusted went hey, bro, check
- 14:10Speaker 1: this out. And he went all right, and then he went,
- 14:13Speaker 1: well that doesn't make any sense. Give me another one.
- 14:15Speaker 1: And he went, well, fuck, that doesn't make any sense.
- 14:18Speaker 1: So he became this reluctant researcher into this area where
- 14:25Speaker 1: and this is just in his work, so it's probably millions,
- 14:28Speaker 1: but in his work it's hundreds and hundreds of people
- 14:33Speaker 1: who have been fully healed from shit where medically there
- 14:37Speaker 1: is zero hope for recovery. Now you go, well, all right,
- 14:43Speaker 1: so we don't need to understand how that works, but
- 14:45Speaker 1: we need to go. But it's possible. Well that's just
- 14:49Speaker 1: the exciting bit to me. Oh it's possible. It's not probable,
- 14:52Speaker 1: but it's possible. How do I move from probable, sorry,
- 14:56Speaker 1: possible to probable? What can I do? And like even
- 15:00Speaker 1: when you know, like part of my and this is selfish,
- 15:03Speaker 1: this is my personal agenda. But I don't want to look,
- 15:08Speaker 1: feel or function. I don't really care about the look
- 15:10Speaker 1: too much, but I don't want to fuel, function, operate
- 15:13Speaker 1: like a sixty one year old, not because sixty one
- 15:15Speaker 1: year olds are bad, but because most sixty one year
- 15:20Speaker 1: old Australian blokes they're really on the slide. Like they're physically, emotionally, mentally, behaviorally,
- 15:28Speaker 1: fucking everything's on the slide. Now. A big part of that,
- 15:32Speaker 1: not all of it, but a big part of that
- 15:33Speaker 1: is choices and behaviors and lifestyle and food and exercise
- 15:37Speaker 1: and mindset and behaviors and patterns and rituals and habits. Right, oh, well,
- 15:42Speaker 1: all of those things are in my control. Oh, that's
- 15:45Speaker 1: easier said than done. Craig, Yes it is, Brian, yes
- 15:49Speaker 1: it is. Of course, it's fucking easier said than done. Literally,
- 15:53Speaker 1: everything is easier said than done. But it doesn't mean
- 15:56Speaker 1: it's not possible. And then when you go, oh, what
- 16:00Speaker 1: if I can get my self limiting thinking and my
- 16:02Speaker 1: shitty beliefs and all that programming and conditioning that I
- 16:06Speaker 1: wear around like a heavy coat, a heavy self limiting coat.
- 16:10Speaker 1: What if I can discard that bullshit and without being
- 16:15Speaker 1: weird or you know, unrealistic, but just push back the
- 16:19Speaker 1: curtain and go, fuck, what's behind this curtain?
- 16:22Speaker 3: Like?
- 16:23Speaker 1: Could I Could I be seventy years old in nine
- 16:26Speaker 1: years and have the mental acuity and sharpness and psychology
- 16:32Speaker 1: and physiology and neurology and you know, cardiology of a
- 16:38Speaker 1: healthy forty five year old? Could I do that? Well?
- 16:41Speaker 1: The answer is I don't know, but I'm going to see.
- 16:45Speaker 1: You know, I'm going to do everything possible. If I
- 16:48Speaker 1: get hit by lass next Wednesday, I do.
- 16:51Speaker 2: But let's yeah, that's like most people want to push
- 16:54Speaker 2: the barrow about something happened to me thirty five years ago,
- 16:56Speaker 2: and I get to push that agenda as to the
- 16:59Speaker 2: reasons why while I is like this because it's easy.
- 17:02Speaker 1: Well, it also it gives you sympathy, and it gives
- 17:05Speaker 1: you attention, and it gives you validation for the shit
- 17:07Speaker 1: that you're not doing. And I let me give your
- 17:09Speaker 1: fucking cuddle and a backgrub. No fuck all that.
- 17:12Speaker 2: Like the same thing is about like I've got badgenetics, Like, no,
- 17:15Speaker 2: you're just lazy.
- 17:16Speaker 1: Yeah, oh, now you've opened the door. Bad genetics are
- 17:21Speaker 1: real everyone. But also some people are lazy. Those things
- 17:26Speaker 1: are true, you know. And it's like, I mean some people,
- 17:30Speaker 1: you know, five year olds get cancer, So there are
- 17:32Speaker 1: lots of variables that are out of our control. The
- 17:35Speaker 1: other day when you and I spoke and you kind
- 17:38Speaker 1: of touched on this, but I maybe want you to
- 17:40Speaker 1: go a little bit deeper, if you would. You were
- 17:43Speaker 1: telling me about this experience that you had where and
- 17:46Speaker 1: it's not that you didn't love your wife or kids
- 17:48Speaker 1: or your family. You did, but you had this experience
- 17:52Speaker 1: where you thought you were dying and you were terrified.
- 17:55Speaker 1: This was when you were on a journey. Yeah, yeah, correct,
- 17:58Speaker 1: correct me if I get any of this. But you're
- 18:00Speaker 1: on a journey, You're in an altered state for want
- 18:03Speaker 1: of a better term. And in this place that you're
- 18:05Speaker 1: in in inverted commas, this place you thought you were
- 18:08Speaker 1: going to die, and you had all the terror associated
- 18:11Speaker 1: with that feeling like you're going to die experience. And
- 18:15Speaker 1: then I'm not sure if you said, but I feel
- 18:18Speaker 1: like you said in the moment that I just gave
- 18:20Speaker 1: over to dying, it was like something magical happened, and
- 18:25Speaker 1: you came out of that with a profound love for
- 18:29Speaker 1: your family.
- 18:30Speaker 3: Yeah, and.
- 18:33Speaker 2: This is what we're saying is going into these journeys,
- 18:36Speaker 2: it's not you'd be very very careful how you do
- 18:39Speaker 2: it and who you do it with, because it can
- 18:43Speaker 2: go very badly, very quickly. And like you were, with you,
- 18:47Speaker 2: I've got a very number of skilled people around us
- 18:49Speaker 2: that can help us out. And in that space, one
- 18:51Speaker 2: of my mates actually helped me out because I was
- 18:53Speaker 2: in a bad place.
- 18:54Speaker 3: But that was the thing. I I was the on
- 18:56Speaker 3: the couch.
- 18:57Speaker 2: And I was like, I thought that I was not
- 19:00Speaker 2: coming home. I was I had died, Like, all right,
- 19:03Speaker 2: I'm dead, and I'm in this place of going through
- 19:05Speaker 2: this year thing and I'm seeing this thing in the
- 19:07Speaker 2: future about Vanessa waking up the next day. I haven't
- 19:09Speaker 2: come home. She's freaking out what's going on? The kids
- 19:13Speaker 2: are screaming because my Daddy's dead. Daddy is dead, and
- 19:15Speaker 2: I'm ball of eyes out, literally ball of eyes out.
- 19:17Speaker 2: What have I done?
- 19:19Speaker 3: How stupid am I?
- 19:21Speaker 2: And then going through and seeing their life without me
- 19:24Speaker 2: being there, and I was just continually just one of
- 19:27Speaker 2: the guys. Guy's wives are there, said like I was
- 19:30Speaker 2: literally sobbing, like for it.
- 19:32Speaker 3: It wasn't growing. It was sobbing.
- 19:36Speaker 2: And then I just had this moment, well, if I'm dead,
- 19:39Speaker 2: I'm dead.
- 19:41Speaker 3: I'm just get used to it.
- 19:42Speaker 2: I was just accept the fact that I've died and
- 19:45Speaker 2: this is what's happened. And in that moment, I actually
- 19:48Speaker 2: just let go and just went, Okay, I'm dead. Then
- 19:54Speaker 2: then it shifted, like that's the thing with psychedelics. It
- 19:56Speaker 2: pushes again to the edge and you have these layers
- 19:59Speaker 2: of things you let go of and then reveals on
- 20:02Speaker 2: the other side that you're what you're afraid of was
- 20:05Speaker 2: nothing to be afraid of. It didn't go through that
- 20:07Speaker 2: gate per se to open another part. And then on
- 20:11Speaker 2: the other side is that then I saw that you
- 20:14Speaker 2: know the construct of my reality is, you know why
- 20:17Speaker 2: they're in my reality and how I've created them and
- 20:20Speaker 2: know what they are and the profound love that we
- 20:22Speaker 2: have together and and I you know, again melted into
- 20:27Speaker 2: the universe and it went beyond that into another place
- 20:31Speaker 2: where you know you and this again, this is pretty weird,
- 20:35Speaker 2: but you're in this place of going, well, I just
- 20:39Speaker 2: created a universe and everything in here is a construct
- 20:43Speaker 2: that's a game, and I created all the construct of
- 20:46Speaker 2: the game through through an experience for fun, just because
- 20:51Speaker 2: I could. And I was thinking about and even that
- 20:54Speaker 2: space like, well, we had the question about what is God,
- 20:57Speaker 2: and it's like, well, God's created in this universe to
- 21:00Speaker 2: play the game, to play the construct of this universe,
- 21:03Speaker 2: because without a supreme divine being, then that doesn't play
- 21:06Speaker 2: to the game code, right, So so it's sort of
- 21:09Speaker 2: like simulation theory kind of stuff.
- 21:11Speaker 3: Is that I created all this stuff inside this.
- 21:14Speaker 2: Universe which create which has codes in there so we
- 21:17Speaker 2: can actually play the game to have the experience. So
- 21:20Speaker 2: for me to have this experience, I don't have all
- 21:23Speaker 2: these other things that he'd actually to do that. So
- 21:26Speaker 2: and there's the universes I've created to have different experiences.
- 21:29Speaker 3: So it gets weird.
- 21:32Speaker 1: I love it so I wanted to ask you, you know,
- 21:35Speaker 1: when you're not being a weird you know, psychedelic cosmonaut
- 21:39Speaker 1: fucking exploring the outer reaches of I was going to
- 21:42Speaker 1: say the human experience, but the human experience and beyond
- 21:45Speaker 1: you're a boring banker, Well you're not. But you you
- 21:50Speaker 1: work in that space and you're working with, you know,
- 21:59Speaker 1: people in the corporate space, and what is what is
- 22:04Speaker 1: it that what's the intersection of greg both gregs and
- 22:10Speaker 1: bringing both gregs into that space? Like, for example, I
- 22:16Speaker 1: think what I bring into the corporate space because I'm
- 22:19Speaker 1: not a corporate, but I play in the corporate space regularly.
- 22:23Speaker 1: But I understand corporate. I can talk corporate. I understand business.
- 22:27Speaker 1: I've owned my own business, so I've built, developed, been
- 22:30Speaker 1: an entrepreneur, employed hundreds of people, so I get it.
- 22:34Speaker 1: So I can plain that space. But I can also
- 22:36Speaker 1: talk like the bloke next door. And I don't wear
- 22:38Speaker 1: a suit, so I bring a certain you know whatever
- 22:41Speaker 1: that seems to work, right. I'm not the best at it,
- 22:44Speaker 1: but I'm okay, what is it that you are bringing
- 22:47Speaker 1: into that space now? And how do you integrate some
- 22:52Speaker 1: of your more you know, out there stuff for want
- 22:56Speaker 1: of a better term. The term didn't come to mind,
- 22:58Speaker 1: but you know what I'm saying in integrated into a
- 23:02Speaker 1: model or a service that helps people not only at
- 23:05Speaker 1: work can be good at what they do as as
- 23:07Speaker 1: the managers, but also help them self, regulate and look
- 23:11Speaker 1: after them.
- 23:13Speaker 3: So it probably goes back and you know the whole
- 23:16Speaker 3: slow is the next stuff. Why do you do this?
- 23:18Speaker 2: Why are you're so passionate about bringing you know, high performance,
- 23:22Speaker 2: you know, with a certain you know, EQ plus intuition
- 23:27Speaker 2: plus human behavior into the workplace. When I was you know,
- 23:32Speaker 2: this is between the jobs in the banks, was working Oerica.
- 23:35Speaker 2: We had a a stuff survey that came out and
- 23:38Speaker 2: was we had a probably very poor rating.
- 23:41Speaker 3: So they had the whole.
- 23:42Speaker 2: Of the department, one hundred twenty odd people there with
- 23:45Speaker 2: HR asking about why the you know, the rating was
- 23:49Speaker 2: so low on the workplace feedback and the HR chit
- 23:55Speaker 2: come out and she basically said, you know, it's we
- 23:58Speaker 2: don't understand it. All that kind of stuff. You know,
- 24:00Speaker 2: you can walk into my office anytime you want to.
- 24:02Speaker 2: You should be able to come in here and talk
- 24:04Speaker 2: about this stuff. You're really concerned about this, you know,
- 24:07Speaker 2: you should be able to trust me. And remember there
- 24:10Speaker 2: was a lady sitting next to me, Rosie, and she
- 24:12Speaker 2: just laughs. She goes, she's got no idea how she
- 24:15Speaker 2: and me. At that stage, I was young Mark. I
- 24:17Speaker 2: thought I could just put my hand up and say something,
- 24:20Speaker 2: so I did. I said to the tage Hila, I said, okay, right,
- 24:26Speaker 2: you've said all this stuff, but if you wanted us
- 24:27Speaker 2: to come into your office and actually talk about some
- 24:31Speaker 2: of the issues we've got here, you have to have trust.
- 24:35Speaker 3: I said.
- 24:36Speaker 2: To have trust, you must know our names. I said,
- 24:39Speaker 2: what's my name? You couldn't answer it.
- 24:42Speaker 3: I said what's her name? She couldn't answer it.
- 24:45Speaker 2: Two hours later, I was officially told to leave the company.
- 24:49Speaker 2: I went to the general manager's office. You said, Greg,
- 24:52Speaker 2: your career here at is effectively over. I'll write your
- 24:56Speaker 2: a glowing reference, but we'll get you a job somewhere else.
- 25:00Speaker 1: Really, they seem like good questions to me.
- 25:05Speaker 2: Literally to hour, I was literally walked in the general
- 25:08Speaker 2: manager's office and said, your career is now officially over.
- 25:11Speaker 1: Why What was the reason? I think we all knew, right,
- 25:17Speaker 1: so they didn't explain it.
- 25:18Speaker 2: No, no, but we knew I've embarrassed the crap out
- 25:21Speaker 2: of her like millions, because it was I'm seeing your
- 25:23Speaker 2: people in that room, like real senior people, and I
- 25:26Speaker 2: had really embarrassed. I'd see what everybody else was wanted
- 25:29Speaker 2: to say, right, And that's sort of my personality. I'm
- 25:31Speaker 2: happy to stick up to the little guys. Right, it's
- 25:34Speaker 2: probably my you know, my family's all labor politicians, right,
- 25:40Speaker 2: that genetics in there, and but.
- 25:43Speaker 3: It really it really irks me, like I have this sort.
- 25:46Speaker 2: Of value I'm very sometimes righteous, but very value driven
- 25:49Speaker 2: in the space about people, and I love. I want
- 25:54Speaker 2: people to be the best they can be. And where
- 25:57Speaker 2: we're having situations like that where people are just full
- 25:59Speaker 2: of share it, I just had to speak up. I
- 26:02Speaker 2: couldn't sit there and not say anything, otherwise I would
- 26:04Speaker 2: have not been able to look in the mirror.
- 26:05Speaker 3: The next day. Hidesight greatest Togever. Right.
- 26:09Speaker 2: I walked into a job two weeks later and double
- 26:11Speaker 2: the salary, right, thank you very much. Right, But that
- 26:17Speaker 2: really set the terms of Okay, well, why is HR there?
- 26:21Speaker 2: Are they there for the people who are there for
- 26:22Speaker 2: the company? So I sadden really delving into that stuff
- 26:25Speaker 2: and then going okay, well, what's the leadship about you know,
- 26:27Speaker 2: and then I'll start going into Okay, most companies, most
- 26:31Speaker 2: businesses have managers in place because they can do something
- 26:36Speaker 2: or achieve something, or bundance a spreadsheet, or governance requests
- 26:41Speaker 2: or stakeholder engagements. They can do a lot of stuff.
- 26:46Speaker 2: They're not people leaders, and they're different roles. But too
- 26:49Speaker 2: often in businesses and corporations, we let these people who
- 26:52Speaker 2: are very analytical, who are very good at their job,
- 26:56Speaker 2: we're given roles that include managing people. They're not the
- 27:00Speaker 2: same and they will never ever be the same. And
- 27:04Speaker 2: I think it's unfair on people in those positions to
- 27:07Speaker 2: be giving people leader roles because they're ineffective. And this
- 27:11Speaker 2: is where you get to all these places where people
- 27:13Speaker 2: are miserable. And we talked the other day about, you know,
- 27:15Speaker 2: people going to work in these corporate environments, are they
- 27:18Speaker 2: just rocking up or they really inspired in the job,
- 27:21Speaker 2: And most people aren't. Most just rocking up to pay
- 27:23Speaker 2: the bills. They're not motivated to be there. So I'm
- 27:26Speaker 2: really fascinated about that. And then I remember walking in
- 27:30Speaker 2: to one room with their leaders one day and I say,
- 27:32Speaker 2: you guys, are all people leaders? Tell me the effect
- 27:35Speaker 2: of stress on the brain and how it affects your
- 27:37Speaker 2: team's performance.
- 27:39Speaker 3: All of them can answer it. Not one.
- 27:42Speaker 2: It's like, oh, okay, right, do you understand any of
- 27:46Speaker 2: this stuff? Like they had no idea, like none, and
- 27:49Speaker 2: these they led teams of forty to fifty people and
- 27:52Speaker 2: then realize why their.
- 27:53Speaker 3: Teams are crap.
- 27:55Speaker 2: And I said, look, do you know that person out
- 27:57Speaker 2: there who's on any depressants what that does to her work.
- 28:02Speaker 3: Ethics and what work performance?
- 28:04Speaker 2: You have any idea what's going home on a home
- 28:06Speaker 2: for her behind the scenes, because that's affecting her work
- 28:10Speaker 2: performance as well your people.
- 28:12Speaker 3: Leaders, you don't know this about your staff.
- 28:15Speaker 2: There's a there's a real lack of connection and so
- 28:19Speaker 2: and a lot of places don't actually want to do it.
- 28:21Speaker 2: They'll go and do an r U okay day, put
- 28:25Speaker 2: some cupcakes out, put themselves on the back and say, hey,
- 28:27Speaker 2: we're doing you know, we're doing We're doing what we
- 28:30Speaker 2: need to to tick a box that says where we're
- 28:32Speaker 2: a progressive company that cares about people's you know, mental
- 28:35Speaker 2: well being. They don't, because two hours later they're going
- 28:39Speaker 2: back into the same ship they came from.
- 28:41Speaker 1: It's so fun.
- 28:42Speaker 2: Leaders are so afraid to do actually make the that
- 28:46Speaker 2: the stats back it up. You can look up any gartner,
- 28:48Speaker 2: you know, McKinley, Harvard, Yale, across the board. What having
- 28:55Speaker 2: you know, proper leadership in your business does for performance
- 28:58Speaker 2: and profit and happiness and staff turnover and innovation like
- 29:04Speaker 2: it's but they just don't want to invest.
- 29:07Speaker 1: No. And also, while there are great leaders, there are
- 29:11Speaker 1: terrible leaders, and there are leaders that can't even get
- 29:14Speaker 1: their own shit together. There are leaders people in leadership
- 29:20Speaker 1: positions at least or management or senior positions, who are
- 29:26Speaker 1: no hate here but themselves their they're train wrecks and
- 29:31Speaker 1: they can't get their own shit together or manage their
- 29:34Speaker 1: own life for whatever reason. And then they're put in
- 29:39Speaker 1: charge of a whole lot of other people. And it's
- 29:41Speaker 1: not that it's their job to manage everyone's lives, but
- 29:45Speaker 1: as you kind of infer, like, we need to at
- 29:48Speaker 1: least understand our people and genuinely care for our people,
- 29:51Speaker 1: like genuinely, like not be seen to care, actually not
- 29:57Speaker 1: fucking simulated empathy, real empathy. And I have this conversation regularly, Greg,
- 30:05Speaker 1: where I have you know before I've told you this,
- 30:09Speaker 1: but for the listeners. You know, one of the things
- 30:11Speaker 1: that when you're a corporate speaker, everyone pretty much every
- 30:13Speaker 1: time you do a gig, you'll have a meeting a
- 30:17Speaker 1: week or a month before or whatever it is, and
- 30:20Speaker 1: they will want to brief you on the event. Okay, Craig,
- 30:23Speaker 1: this is the name of our conference, this is the theme.
- 30:25Speaker 1: You'll speaker number one or ten or you know. Next week,
- 30:29Speaker 1: I'm going away and I'm the only speaker. I'm doing
- 30:31Speaker 1: a half day with an organization. And then there's the Okay.
- 30:36Speaker 1: So like a lot of times, it's especially with companies
- 30:40Speaker 1: that I'm new to. Essentially, we want you to come
- 30:43Speaker 1: in and rev them up and get them all pumped
- 30:44Speaker 1: because the culture is a bit shit and the energy
- 30:46Speaker 1: is a bit flat, sales are a bit down, and
- 30:49Speaker 1: we want you to just fucking you know. The bottom
- 30:52Speaker 1: line is we want we want to sell more shits
- 30:54Speaker 1: and we want to make more go and whatever you
- 30:57Speaker 1: need to do to them to get them to do that,
- 30:59Speaker 1: that's what we want you to do. Like, Okay, how
- 31:03Speaker 1: about we don't treat them like they're a cog in
- 31:05Speaker 1: a money making machine. Let's start with that. Let's start
- 31:09Speaker 1: with how are you feeling let's start with how's your health?
- 31:15Speaker 1: Are you sleeping? Are you eating well? Are you moving well?
- 31:19Speaker 1: Here's one? How do you feel when you're at work?
- 31:21Speaker 1: Here's another one? Do you look forward to coming to work?
- 31:26Speaker 1: Do you feel safe? Do you feel seen and valued?
- 31:28Speaker 1: Are you okay? Do you want to be here? Oh?
- 31:32Speaker 1: And they're like, what what I go? How about we
- 31:36Speaker 1: just look after them as best we can, right what
- 31:40Speaker 1: is appropriate, and maybe the byproduct is maybe that they'll
- 31:45Speaker 1: just be better at whatever it is that they do.
- 31:47Speaker 1: You know, like, if I'm my job is to sell widgets,
- 31:51Speaker 1: and I'm physically, mentally, emotionally a better place than I
- 31:55Speaker 1: was before Greg came to talk to our team. And
- 31:59Speaker 1: now Greg's been working with our team for the last
- 32:01Speaker 1: ten weeks and giving me advice and us as a
- 32:03Speaker 1: collective strategies and insights and tools and resources. And I've
- 32:07Speaker 1: been operationalizing all the theory he's been downloading. And now
- 32:11Speaker 1: ten weeks later, I'm sleeping like a fucking winner. I
- 32:15Speaker 1: feel good, I'm less depressed, I'm more happy, I'm more
- 32:18Speaker 1: solution focused. I'm problem aware, but I'm solution focused and
- 32:22Speaker 1: now I'm great. So guess what without even focusing on
- 32:26Speaker 1: my job. I'm way better for the company. Correct, And
- 32:31Speaker 1: nobody even needs to talk about the bottom line or
- 32:34Speaker 1: productivity or efficiency. You don't even need to talk about it.
- 32:38Speaker 1: You just need to go, hey, Craig, how are you?
- 32:42Speaker 2: You know where people have those awkward conversations like you
- 32:46Speaker 2: to sit down and have a conversation across a cup
- 32:48Speaker 2: of coffee.
- 32:49Speaker 3: That's you see.
- 32:50Speaker 2: Leaders, they just they don't know how to do it
- 32:53Speaker 2: driving They hey, give me a Stutter's pack to update
- 32:57Speaker 2: my program's performance and my But then in the human
- 33:00Speaker 2: contact they struggle at massively, Like it's a skill set
- 33:05Speaker 2: that if you learn emotional intelligence and you know and
- 33:10Speaker 2: how humans work, that's the next.
- 33:13Speaker 3: Frontier for most people. Everybody should be learning this.
- 33:17Speaker 1: And I think, just like you and I are talking,
- 33:20Speaker 1: it's like you, you, Greg and me, we need to
- 33:25Speaker 1: do a deep dive on ourselves, which I think we
- 33:27Speaker 1: both constantly do. I need to make sure that before
- 33:31Speaker 1: I tell anyone else or share it with anyone else
- 33:33Speaker 1: or direct or coach that at the very least I'm
- 33:37Speaker 1: doing all of this for myself first, so that at
- 33:40Speaker 1: the very least I'm doing my best to walk my talk.
- 33:44Speaker 1: Because you know, as without going back to my research,
- 33:49Speaker 1: but it's very relevant. When I go in and I
- 33:52Speaker 1: say to a boss, him or her, what do you
- 33:55Speaker 1: think it's like being around you for them? Yeah, the
- 33:59Speaker 1: response is generally somewhere in the I'm not sure, or
- 34:05Speaker 1: I've never really thought about that, or I don't really care.
- 34:09Speaker 1: They just need to do the job. I'm not their friend.
- 34:13Speaker 1: It's very very few of them say, well, that's a
- 34:17Speaker 1: fucking great question. Let's lean into that together. Craig let's
- 34:22Speaker 1: and I'm like you now, that's not saying we need
- 34:25Speaker 1: to worry about whether or not people like us. That's
- 34:28Speaker 1: a different thing. What we are talking about is awareness,
- 34:33Speaker 1: situational awareness, context awareness. What is the Craig experience? Like
- 34:38Speaker 1: you know, It's like, imagine, I thought I'm pretty good
- 34:41Speaker 1: at podcasting, and every time I do a podcast, everyone
- 34:44Speaker 1: thinks it's fucking diabolical. Well, three episodes in, I don't
- 34:47Speaker 1: have a podcast. I don't have an audience, right, Which
- 34:51Speaker 1: is not to say I think i'm acid it because
- 34:53Speaker 1: I'm two thousand episodes almost down. It's like, I'm still
- 34:57Speaker 1: aware that I've got to learn and grow and evolve
- 34:59Speaker 1: and be better. I'm working to do that. But I
- 35:02Speaker 1: must I know, I must be doing something okay, and
- 35:05Speaker 1: so too with leaders, like if you're not walking your talk,
- 35:10Speaker 1: I'm not going to listen to you because I pay
- 35:13Speaker 1: way more attention to what you do than what you say.
- 35:15Speaker 1: So when you are, even if it makes sense, and
- 35:19Speaker 1: even if you're clever and articulate and you've got leadership skills,
- 35:23Speaker 1: if I know that you don't do what you tell
- 35:25Speaker 1: me to do, one no trust, no respect, and two
- 35:30Speaker 1: I'm probably not going to do it because it's not
- 35:32Speaker 1: the culture.
- 35:32Speaker 2: Here correct exactly right, and you mention the word trust.
- 35:35Speaker 2: They are like augustly the other day is like, if
- 35:39Speaker 2: you want to leader the people, you have to have
- 35:42Speaker 2: led yourself first. You can't get people to do things
- 35:45Speaker 2: you're not willing to do yourself. And people can see it, right,
- 35:47Speaker 2: people will call the bullshit media straight away. They consider
- 35:50Speaker 2: the fact that if you're just telling people to do
- 35:52Speaker 2: the work and you're doing yourself, you're a hypocrite and
- 35:55Speaker 2: the things will fall around you very very quickly. But
- 35:57Speaker 2: even to the point where look, I walk in the
- 35:59Speaker 2: people's place, they go, Okay, what's your personal brand? Talking
- 36:03Speaker 2: about greet that's my brand. It's like you know, what
- 36:06Speaker 2: is your brand, which is your values?
- 36:08Speaker 3: How you act?
- 36:09Speaker 2: What do you stand for? People just don't have them
- 36:11Speaker 2: like this. These are the questions I don't ask themselves. Yeah,
- 36:14Speaker 2: they are great questions.
- 36:16Speaker 1: Yes, yes, yeah, how do you talk?
- 36:19Speaker 2: So if someone said, you know, my brand is you
- 36:22Speaker 2: know how I articulate myself as the magician of the
- 36:24Speaker 2: sage and the outlaw. So you'll see that I'm about transformation,
- 36:28Speaker 2: deep wisdom, and I call a spade of spade and
- 36:30Speaker 2: I break the rules. That's how I talk, right. Yes,
- 36:35Speaker 2: that requires certain values associated with that as well too,
- 36:37Speaker 2: So that's how I will, you know, sort of lived
- 36:39Speaker 2: my life in that space. Some people have been more caregivers,
- 36:42Speaker 2: some people, you know whatever, they ask more jovial. But
- 36:46Speaker 2: there are questions that the eternal investment on those questions
- 36:50Speaker 2: are huge.
- 36:51Speaker 3: They're massive.
- 36:53Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, we're nearly done. I've got a couple
- 36:56Speaker 1: of questions and I'm going to let you get back
- 36:58Speaker 1: to your family. What is something in the last however
- 37:03Speaker 1: many years that you got wrong, absolutely wrong. That's question
- 37:08Speaker 1: one and question two, and they may or may not
- 37:11Speaker 1: be related. Question one is what did you get wrong?
- 37:13Speaker 1: Question two is what have you changed? Your mind about
- 37:17Speaker 1: or perhaps one of you, what have you done a
- 37:18Speaker 1: one eighty on.
- 37:21Speaker 3: Well have I got wrong?
- 37:24Speaker 2: The hardest thing is working from home is because I'm here,
- 37:29Speaker 2: but I'm not here right. And some of the things
- 37:32Speaker 2: is that I'm not sometimes the best listener.
- 37:34Speaker 3: Right, that I will actually be.
- 37:36Speaker 2: Here, but I won't be here because I'm actually my
- 37:38Speaker 2: mind somewhere else. And something I'm very much aware of
- 37:42Speaker 2: I have to sort of work on a lot more
- 37:44Speaker 2: is that, you know, my thing is my family, but
- 37:47Speaker 2: I need to actively listen a lot more than I
- 37:50Speaker 2: had because there's so much going on, especially around that time,
- 37:53Speaker 2: those last three ideas. There's so much going through my
- 37:55Speaker 2: head that I need to be more present.
- 37:58Speaker 3: And again like it's I'm not.
- 38:02Speaker 2: I'm grateful that I did that, because it's again it's
- 38:04Speaker 2: showing me a skill set that I need to develop.
- 38:07Speaker 2: Like without not listening, I listen to my clients very deeply,
- 38:11Speaker 2: but then I wasn't doing it with you know, at home.
- 38:16Speaker 2: And I can get into this whole thing about Greg.
- 38:18Speaker 2: You're an idiot, gregor're a dick, You're doing it wrong?
- 38:20Speaker 2: You know, the whole poor me syndrome or you can
- 38:22Speaker 2: go that is showing me the ability to develop a
- 38:25Speaker 2: skill set.
- 38:27Speaker 3: Yeah in other ways. So so that yeah.
- 38:31Speaker 2: I got that wrong, and I had been for a while,
- 38:34Speaker 2: and that has its impacts in its way. So especially
- 38:37Speaker 2: when you're having this deep, you know, listening aspect with
- 38:41Speaker 2: clients and they're going like, God, just listen to me.
- 38:43Speaker 2: I never people, just you care so much, and then
- 38:46Speaker 2: you know I'm blank with you know, in other aspects.
- 38:49Speaker 3: Right, So so that balls it up completely completely.
- 38:54Speaker 1: And something you've changed your mind about where you thought X,
- 38:58Speaker 1: and now you think why perhaps if.
- 39:01Speaker 3: Anything political.
- 39:05Speaker 2: Let's say left versus right stuff right, as far as
- 39:11Speaker 2: you don't there's some of the one same as the
- 39:15Speaker 2: one thing. Okay, they're they're fighting for the same stuff,
- 39:19Speaker 2: just in different aspects in different ways, but the they
- 39:23Speaker 2: both need each other to exist, and one kind of
- 39:28Speaker 2: exist without the other. But they also provide a very
- 39:30Speaker 2: very you know, amazing sort of duality. Whereas I was
- 39:36Speaker 2: always probably probably more center right in the space, now
- 39:39Speaker 2: I've sort of been trying to understand the the experience
- 39:44Speaker 2: of the of the left side of stuff and see
- 39:46Speaker 2: what you're coming from and kind of go, well, maybe
- 39:49Speaker 2: I do have that part wrong in what I thought previously,
- 39:54Speaker 2: so so in that space.
- 39:56Speaker 3: Look, and that's the thing is about you.
- 39:59Speaker 2: If you I have a fixed mindset and you always
- 40:02Speaker 2: come from that way, and you say, like I said before,
- 40:04Speaker 2: my way is the only way, you know, you sort
- 40:08Speaker 2: of just you can't grow from that place. Yeah, as
- 40:13Speaker 2: be challenged by some of the aspects of different thinking
- 40:16Speaker 2: to what I've got that the way, rather just dismiss it,
- 40:22Speaker 2: try and actually understand why they're actually saying what they're saying.
- 40:26Speaker 3: And yeah, in some ways that.
- 40:27Speaker 2: Okay, I can see why that's that's there, and I
- 40:29Speaker 2: have empathy with that, but I can accept that as
- 40:33Speaker 2: well too.
- 40:34Speaker 1: Last question, probably every I mean if people are fit
- 40:40Speaker 1: and healthy, not injured people or sick people. But in
- 40:43Speaker 1: general terms, every human can run at some stage, right,
- 40:48Speaker 1: you know, if I can go outside and run. I
- 40:50Speaker 1: don't run like the wind, and I don't run beautifully,
- 40:52Speaker 1: but I can go and run. Everyone but not everyone
- 40:55Speaker 1: is a runner, so to speak, Right, does everyone have
- 41:00Speaker 1: potential for psychic ability? Like obviously you know some people
- 41:07Speaker 1: have a gift. Not everybody has a gift. But yeah,
- 41:10Speaker 1: is it trainable? Is it teachable? Is it a skill?
- 41:13Speaker 1: Is it a gift? Is it a trait. Explain it
- 41:15Speaker 1: to me.
- 41:16Speaker 2: So I'll give you another metaphor anology kind of thing.
- 41:22Speaker 2: I can learn to play the piano. I can train
- 41:25Speaker 2: hard enough, I can learn. I can learn the scales,
- 41:26Speaker 2: I learn the frameworks of it. I can play good tune.
- 41:29Speaker 2: I can play some really good music. There'll never be Mozart. Yeah,
- 41:35Speaker 2: sometimes people are just born with shit that yeah, far
- 41:38Speaker 2: beyond what other people can experience. Does that stop them
- 41:41Speaker 2: from actually learn to play the piano? Play the piano?
- 41:45Speaker 3: Right?
- 41:46Speaker 1: Right? So do you think like you obviously have a gift?
- 41:52Speaker 3: Do you?
- 41:54Speaker 1: I know it's not the last question, but it's the
- 41:56Speaker 1: last topic, so it's almost the last question. And so
- 42:00Speaker 1: you won, you won a TV show which was called
- 42:03Speaker 1: The One, and on that you were crowned for what
- 42:06Speaker 1: a better term, Australia's best psychic, right, and then you
- 42:11Speaker 1: said you kind of did that. You worked as a
- 42:13Speaker 1: psychic for a year and full time ish was it?
- 42:20Speaker 2: Then?
- 42:21Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 42:22Speaker 1: And then you went nah, after a year, why is
- 42:26Speaker 1: the guy with that gift? Is it? What is the
- 42:30Speaker 1: I feel like that could be really fucking exhausting or like,
- 42:34Speaker 1: why did you stop.
- 42:37Speaker 2: I think from I couldn't let people walk out of
- 42:40Speaker 2: a room, knowing that I could have helped them a
- 42:43Speaker 2: lot more that they hadn't. They got what they thought
- 42:46Speaker 2: they wanted, but obviously going that's not really what needs
- 42:50Speaker 2: to happen, because that's the problem with you can just
- 42:52Speaker 2: do the normal psychic stuff, which would be oh, okay, okay, Sally,
- 42:56Speaker 2: come in here, you're here, okay, you're looking for a likeationship.
- 43:00Speaker 2: I see in October that there's a guy coming forward.
- 43:03Speaker 2: His name is Dave, and Dave's going to be this
- 43:06Speaker 2: guy who swoops you off your feet and you live happily,
- 43:08Speaker 2: going to have two children, one boy, one girl. Was
- 43:10Speaker 2: going to green eyes, want to be very intelligent, and
- 43:12Speaker 2: you're going to then travel the world. Right, Everyone wants
- 43:15Speaker 2: to hear that story. Every person wants to come, especially
- 43:18Speaker 2: you know, females when they came for a reading. Was
- 43:19Speaker 2: about mostly about relationships.
- 43:22Speaker 3: And it feels good. It hits that dope. For me,
- 43:25Speaker 3: it was okay, right, I'm going to I am going
- 43:30Speaker 3: to be okay.
- 43:31Speaker 2: You know, a psychic told me I'm going to meet
- 43:33Speaker 2: this person sometime in the future and that I don't
- 43:35Speaker 2: have to do anything, and he's going to be the
- 43:36Speaker 2: nineteen Shining armor that I want now. Ninety nine point
- 43:40Speaker 2: nine nine percent of the time it wouldn't even happen.
- 43:42Speaker 2: But I was sitting in front of Sally and go, Sally,
- 43:46Speaker 2: you've just come from three relationships. One cheated on you,
- 43:50Speaker 2: one was abusive, and one showed you no connection. How
- 43:54Speaker 2: about we deal with that? No, Greg, that's why I'm
- 43:57Speaker 2: I'm not here for that. I want you to tell
- 43:58Speaker 2: me where my new soul made is. No, Sally, your
- 44:02Speaker 2: soul I ain't coming. The only person coming your way
- 44:05Speaker 2: is more trauma. Greg, Am I paying for this? I
- 44:07Speaker 2: want you to tell me where's my soulmate?
- 44:11Speaker 1: Right?
- 44:11Speaker 2: So I struggle with the ethics behind what I was doing.
- 44:13Speaker 2: I really struggle with the factors. She's in the world
- 44:16Speaker 2: of pain she doesn't know about, and I'm trying to
- 44:18Speaker 2: help her to realize that she needs to work on
- 44:20Speaker 2: herself and do this before she could even go into
- 44:22Speaker 2: another relationship.
- 44:24Speaker 3: But that's not what they get.
- 44:26Speaker 2: Most people go to a mind, body, spirit or some
- 44:28Speaker 2: kind of psychic and they get told what they want
- 44:30Speaker 2: to hear. The dopamine, the ego boost, it's going to
- 44:33Speaker 2: be you're going to be rich and famous, all that
- 44:35Speaker 2: kind of stuff without any kind of sense of you know,
- 44:39Speaker 2: why are you there in my seat, why are you
- 44:42Speaker 2: sitting here in front of me right now in this place?
- 44:45Speaker 2: Because they need something, they want something, There's something there
- 44:48Speaker 2: from the work on.
- 44:49Speaker 1: It's so interesting because even in the world of you know,
- 44:53Speaker 1: changing your body, often the thing that people need to
- 44:57Speaker 1: hear is not what they want to hear. Yeah, you know,
- 45:01Speaker 1: I can tell you. I've said this to audiences, you know,
- 45:05Speaker 1: when we're maybe we're going around in circles with something
- 45:07Speaker 1: and I go, or someone's asked something and I go, look,
- 45:11Speaker 1: I can tell you the truth, or I can tell
- 45:13Speaker 1: you what you want to hear. What do you guys want?
- 45:15Speaker 1: And they go reluctantly true. I'm like, look, you know,
- 45:19Speaker 1: here's here's the deal. Like, the path that you might
- 45:23Speaker 1: need to take might fucking suck, but you'll learn and
- 45:29Speaker 1: grow and evolve and build skill and understanding and awareness
- 45:31Speaker 1: and resilience and maybe you'll create an amazing outcome. But
- 45:36Speaker 1: sitting on the couch on your phone or watching Netflix
- 45:38Speaker 1: and eating shit and doom scrolling and complaining and being
- 45:42Speaker 1: a victim and throwing yourself a pity party thirty two
- 45:45Speaker 1: times a fucking month that's that's it's understandable, but it's
- 45:51Speaker 1: completely unhelpful. And even though in the moment it's a
- 45:54Speaker 1: bit comfy and there's a bit of dopamine and a
- 45:56Speaker 1: bit of familiarity, I get all of that. But maybe
- 46:00Speaker 1: you need to throw all the shit out of the
- 46:02Speaker 1: fridge and the pantry, and maybe you need to go
- 46:04Speaker 1: for an uncomfortable job, or maybe you need to have
- 46:06Speaker 1: a hard conversation, or maybe you need to look up
- 46:09Speaker 1: and own up, you know, and just say hey, I'm
- 46:11Speaker 1: you know, without self loathing. I'm the problem. That's the awareness,
- 46:15Speaker 1: because there's a fair chance if your life shit, you
- 46:18Speaker 1: might be involved.
- 46:20Speaker 2: Yeah, that was unfortunately part of the I suppose that
- 46:25Speaker 2: you're in this world where I was before actually doing readings.
- 46:28Speaker 2: I was already doing you know, coaching, you know, before
- 46:31Speaker 2: that anyway, So the children stuff was sort of on
- 46:34Speaker 2: top of that. But the Psychic show threw me into
- 46:36Speaker 2: the psychic world of tarot readers and that, which is
- 46:38Speaker 2: all about predicting the future, and that's not how I worked,
- 46:41Speaker 2: and that's why it just felt like I just can't
- 46:43Speaker 2: do this. Like I still do readings for people, but
- 46:45Speaker 2: it's very few and far between. But it's more in
- 46:48Speaker 2: that coaching space where you're coming from a brutal reality
- 46:51Speaker 2: check on what's really going on, and people who do
- 46:55Speaker 2: value their value, they like, this is the greatest thing
- 46:57Speaker 2: ever because it's a deep, deep sense of intuitive knowing
- 47:00Speaker 2: about what's happening. But I couldn't sit there anymore and
- 47:04Speaker 2: just go, I can't do this. I can't sit here
- 47:07Speaker 2: forty sessions a week going no, you're not going to
- 47:12Speaker 2: meet Dave in.
- 47:13Speaker 3: October, but tell me.
- 47:19Speaker 2: But the amount of times people came to me and
- 47:21Speaker 2: be like a Psycha told me this, But that's like
- 47:24Speaker 2: because she's got no idea what she taught me talked
- 47:25Speaker 2: about before, Like most of them are just fake. Like
- 47:28Speaker 2: I can get someone of the read I can teach
- 47:30Speaker 2: some of the red Tarot cards and make them look fantastic.
- 47:32Speaker 2: They'll have no psychic abil let's read the meaning of
- 47:34Speaker 2: the cards. It's yeah, But also you got that thing
- 47:38Speaker 2: about I was I was seeing people I didn't want
- 47:40Speaker 2: to see.
- 47:41Speaker 3: I was seeing people who just wanted to be told it.
- 47:43Speaker 2: Was going to be okay without doing any work, and
- 47:45Speaker 2: it burnt me out, Like I was, I hated it.
- 47:47Speaker 2: In the end, It's like I was not doing what
- 47:50Speaker 2: I wanted to do, and I was not working with
- 47:51Speaker 2: people I wanted to work with, and it just became
- 47:53Speaker 2: this complete. I just hated it. I hated doing it.
- 47:57Speaker 2: Going well, why so I stopped?
- 48:00Speaker 1: Have you ever met anyone? Last one? Then we're gone.
- 48:02Speaker 1: Have you ever met anyone who's just got like a
- 48:05Speaker 1: true supernatural, freaky gift where you're like this person is
- 48:11Speaker 1: is that is the motart, that is the you ever
- 48:14Speaker 1: met anyone like that?
- 48:16Speaker 2: Or no, not the in person something like say John Edward,
- 48:21Speaker 2: I've never met him, probably has some gifts of the
- 48:23Speaker 2: kind of stuff you know, you've got, Paul Seligg's all
- 48:26Speaker 2: the world You've got. Uh, there's a few people that
- 48:31Speaker 2: I could probably say probably got something, but I've never
- 48:33Speaker 2: met them personally, so I don't know. So I can't
- 48:37Speaker 2: sort of say I keep to myself quite a fair
- 48:39Speaker 2: but I don't sort of associate in those kind of
- 48:41Speaker 2: worlds too much.
- 48:42Speaker 3: So but yeah, it's it's it's fee and father to me.
- 48:47Speaker 1: Well, mate, I love chatting with you, and thanks for
- 48:51Speaker 1: not keeping to yourself today. You did the opposite of
- 48:54Speaker 1: keeping to yourself today, so it could have been a
- 48:56Speaker 1: pretty short podcast if you had a hey, do you
- 49:01Speaker 1: want people to find you or connect with you or
- 49:03Speaker 1: follow you on some social media thing or do you
- 49:05Speaker 1: not do that?
- 49:07Speaker 2: Most of the stuff I do is on LinkedIn these days,
- 49:08Speaker 2: especially around the leadership side, I think, so it's just
- 49:11Speaker 2: you find me on Greg Rolly on LinkedIn. I quite
- 49:14Speaker 2: often post three or four articles a week about leadership
- 49:17Speaker 2: and poke the bear in that space. Otherwise she's going
- 49:21Speaker 2: on my website, which is Greg Rolly dot com DoD
- 49:23Speaker 2: au And yeah, so most of my stuff's pretty one
- 49:28Speaker 2: on one and small group stuff.
- 49:31Speaker 1: All right, So you heard him. If you've got heaps
- 49:34Speaker 1: of cash, just reach out mate. We'll say goodbye, affair.
- 49:38Speaker 1: But thanks for Ben on the You project. I loved it.
- 49:41Speaker 3: Thanks Bartie, appreciate it.
