  Speaker 1: we just finished the Book of Jonah. Jonah was a

  Speaker 1: very good book and very interesting book. It shows us

  Speaker 1: the insight of our hearts. You know, how we treat

  Speaker 1: god attitudes, that we have things that go down in
• 6:04
  Speaker 1: our heart. The Word of God says, guard your heart,

  Speaker 1: for out of it are the issues of life. And

  Speaker 1: if God can use Jonah, he can use any one

  Speaker 1: of us. We saw that the prophet did not want
• 6:15
  Speaker 1: to answer the call to go to Ninevus. He tried

  Speaker 1: to escape it. God had to deal with them, swallow
• 6:22
  Speaker 1: them up with the big old fish, spit them out
• 6:26
  Speaker 1: in Joppa and told him to get over there to

  Speaker 1: Nineveh and do what I said. And this dude was

  Speaker 1: like he still wanted to die. This story ends with

  Speaker 1: that book is this, we can know about God, we

  Speaker 1: can read the word, we can have even the correct theology.

  Speaker 1: We know that we need to be loving on people right,

  Speaker 1: and we know that we're supposed to even love our enemies,

  Speaker 1: but we can still refuse to align our hearts with

  Speaker 1: God's will. Because when Jonah was there, he was quoting scripture.

  Speaker 1: He was in the belly of the well, like he
• 7:13
  Speaker 1: was quoting the book of Psalms, and he knew. He
• 7:16
  Speaker 1: was upset because he knew God. He knew the correct theology.

  Speaker 1: He said, I knew that you were merciful and loving God.

  Speaker 1: That's why I try to run away. Like you know,

  Speaker 1: he knew about God, but he refused to align his

  Speaker 1: heart with God's same attitude. So let's not make that

  Speaker 1: the first book that you read. Now my testimony, in

  Speaker 1: my story, I was in the Book of Revelation when

  Speaker 1: I got saved. I was at a Bible study. A

  Speaker 1: was a lot of us teenagers. I was like fifteen

  Speaker 1: years old, just turning sixteen when I heard the Gospel,

  Speaker 1: So that was the first book I was interested, I
• 9:47
  Speaker 1: was introduced to and I thank God for that. But

  Speaker 1: you know, I've known, I've noticed over the years that

  Speaker 1: a lot of people like to start people off in
• 9:59
  Speaker 1: the Book of And there's nothing wrong with it at all.

  Speaker 1: There's a lot of richness in it. And this book
• 10:05
  Speaker 1: was written. John wrote this book to help us to
• 10:08
  Speaker 1: believe in the Messiah, that Jesus is the Messiah. And
• 10:14
  Speaker 1: this book goes all the way back to eternity, which
• 10:17
  Speaker 1: we're gonna see in verse in the first chapter. And also,
• 10:25
  Speaker 1: and I've known Jehovah's witnesses over the years, and this
• 10:29
  Speaker 1: is a very controversial book for them because it speaks
• 10:34
  Speaker 1: about the deity of Christ and they don't believe in that,
• 10:37
  Speaker 1: and they change something in this chapter. And then once
• 10:41
  Speaker 1: we get to it, I will point it out. So

  Speaker 1: all right, let's dive in the Book of John. Looks

  Speaker 1: like you lost another one in the beginning, God created

  Speaker 1: the heavens and earth. I'm sorry, I just that just

  Speaker 1: of Genesis, y'all, you know what I mean. Like, but

  Speaker 1: it's similar to the Book of Genesis, but it goes

  Speaker 1: even beyond Genesis. Right, Genesis is in the beginning. This

  Speaker 1: book takes us past in the beginning. I'll let you

  Speaker 1: So verse one it says in the beginning was the word,

  Speaker 1: and the word was with God, and the word was God.

  Speaker 1: Now I mentioned the Jovia's Witnesses for a reason because

  Speaker 1: in this verse, where it says the word was God,

  Speaker 1: they changed it to say the word was a God.

  Speaker 1: They put the definite article there, the letter A, as if
• 12:15
  Speaker 1: a separate God or as you know, multiple gods. No,

  Speaker 1: there's only one God that we believe in that the
• 12:23
  Speaker 1: Bible speaks of. And so they really don't have any
• 12:28
  Speaker 1: authority to change that. There's nothing in the original manuscripts
• 12:34
  Speaker 1: that would indicate that there should be an a there.

  Speaker 1: They just grabbed it out of the air and did it.

  Speaker 1: So I just wanted y'all to be aware that the

  Speaker 1: book that they use is the New World Translation, and

  Speaker 1: the authors it was touched by westcottin Horde, which where

  Speaker 1: men that were trying to destroy the scriptures they were

  Speaker 1: atheists and that they were against the Word of God.

  Speaker 1: Now I know, I'm throwing you a lot of stuff

  Speaker 1: who wrote their Bible, and where they're getting their stuff from.

  Speaker 1: get that? You know, that's a very controversial topic. But

  Speaker 1: manuscripts that I believe are reliable, and the authoritative text

  Speaker 1: word was God, distinction and unity. This is the mystery

  Speaker 1: of the Trinity. No one could really understand the Trinity.

  Speaker 1: hour clock. No, they all work together. So yeah, that's

  Speaker 1: I want my faith. I want to learn more when

  Speaker 1: I get to Heaven. You know, I don't want to

  Speaker 1: know it all while we're here on earth. Like I

  Speaker 1: want to understand God more. I want God to show

  Speaker 1: me himself and to get to understand him more. Through

  Speaker 1: experience in the Kingdom. Amen. Now Jesus himself was not created.

  Speaker 1: He is a creator. Now, he didn't start at Bethel,

  Speaker 1: him in a manger. He is eternal. And you know what,

  Speaker 1: watch this. He wasn't just with God. He is God.

  Speaker 1: When you follow Jesus, you're not just following a teacher. No, huh,

  Speaker 1: you're not just following a prophet. No, you're not following
• 16:54
  Speaker 1: a rabbi. You're following and you're walking with God all Mighty,

  Speaker 1: the creator of the universe. Hallelujah. What an honor and

  Speaker 1: what a privilege it is to walk with him. At

  Speaker 1: verse two, he was in the beginning with God. All

  Speaker 1: things are made through him. Without him, nothing was made

  Speaker 1: that was made. Right now, that's strong, Like, how can

  Speaker 1: you not miss the deity of Christ? Right now? This

  Speaker 1: re estates and it also reinforces verse one. Christ existed

  Speaker 1: of men. And the light shineth in darkness, and the

  Speaker 1: darkness did not coprehend it. Amen, All right, three through five.

  Speaker 1: Let's go now. Verse three, All things were made through him. Now,

  Speaker 1: Christ is the agent of creation. Everything owes its existence

  Speaker 1: to him. Now, look around the stars, the oceans, even you.

  Speaker 1: Look in the mirror, all stamped with Jesus's fingerprints. You

  Speaker 1: were designed with purpose. God has a plan. God has
• 19:44
  Speaker 1: a purpose for your life. You're not random, and you
• 19:51
  Speaker 1: were not an accident. The Creator himself shaped you. Now four.

  Speaker 1: In him was life. The life was the light of men.

  Speaker 1: Jesus not only created life. He is the source of

  Speaker 1: true spiritual life and illumination. You see, we run after

  Speaker 1: all kinds of things, trying to feel alive, you know

  Speaker 1: what I mean. We run after money. We want to
• 20:21
  Speaker 1: become famous likes on social media, relationship after relationship, but
• 20:29
  Speaker 1: real life, that's only in Christ Jesus. And when he
• 20:36
  Speaker 1: gives you life, he also gives you light. He gives
• 20:43
  Speaker 1: you clarity, direction, he gives you purpose. Amen. In verse five,
• 20:53
  Speaker 1: and the light shines in darkness, and the darkness did
• 20:56
  Speaker 1: not comprehend it. Darkness cannot overcome the light. Like you

  Speaker 1: go into a room and it's dark, you switch on
• 21:05
  Speaker 1: the light, switch, the darkness disappears. They cannot overcome the light.

  Speaker 1: The forces of evil cannot extinguish the light of Christ. Listen,

  Speaker 1: no matter how dark your situation may feel, darkness cannot
• 21:23
  Speaker 1: snuff out the light of Jesus. You know what I'm saying,

  Speaker 1: I don't care. If it's depression, I don't care. If
• 21:37
  Speaker 1: it's addiction, it could be pain, it could be a
• 21:41
  Speaker 1: lot of things you're going through. And as I'm speaking,
• 21:45
  Speaker 1: there's pressures in my life right now, there's some things
• 21:48
  Speaker 1: that I'm dealing with and I'm going through and this
• 21:50
  Speaker 1: is actually encouraging my heart. They cannot extinguish him. His
• 21:57
  Speaker 1: light shines and keeps unshining. Nothing can stop the glory. Amen.

  Speaker 1: All right, Let's go through Verse six all the way

  Speaker 1: through to verse eight. There was a man sent from
• 22:17
  Speaker 1: God whose name was John. This man came for a witness,

  Speaker 1: to bear witness of the light that all through him

  Speaker 1: might believe. He was not the light, but was sent

  Speaker 1: to bear witness of that light that was the true light,

  Speaker 1: which gives light to every man coming into the world. Amen.

  Speaker 1: All right, well that was verse nine, All right, six

  Speaker 1: through nine. There was a man sent from God, now
• 22:55
  Speaker 1: John the Baptist. He was like a forerunner, kind of
• 23:00
  Speaker 1: like Elijah. You know, there was a prophecy saying that
• 23:03
  Speaker 1: Elijah will come before the Messiah, and he was came
• 23:09
  Speaker 1: in the spirit of Elijah, now pointing to Jesus. That
• 23:14
  Speaker 1: was his job was to point everyone to Jesus. And
• 23:17
  Speaker 1: guess what, that's your job and that's my job as
• 23:21
  Speaker 1: a believer. If your ministry is pointing people to yourself,
• 23:27
  Speaker 1: then you failed your calling or to point people to
• 23:34
  Speaker 1: Jesus Christ. He himself was not the light as far
• 23:38
  Speaker 1: as John the Baptist. Sometimes we get it twisted, given
• 23:44
  Speaker 1: the spotlight to people who don't even deserve it. John's
• 23:48
  Speaker 1: role was just simple, point to Jesus. That's our job.
• 23:56
  Speaker 1: Now verse nine, what was the true that was the
• 24:01
  Speaker 1: true light which gives light to every man coming into
• 24:05
  Speaker 1: the world. Now, Christ is the universal light, and he
• 24:11
  Speaker 1: is available to all. He's universal. All can access him. Now,
• 24:17
  Speaker 1: this is not a fake light, not a glow of
• 24:23
  Speaker 1: fame or success that phase. But Jesus is the true light.

  Speaker 1: And it says that he gives light to every person.

  Speaker 1: Now that means you, no one is left out at all.

  Speaker 1: He gives light to all of us, each in every person.

  Speaker 1: The question is have you come to the light? Have
• 24:49
  Speaker 1: you received the light that is available to you? Verse ten.

  Speaker 1: He was in the world and the world was made

  Speaker 1: through him, and the world did not know him. Now,

  Speaker 1: the creator of this world, of the whole universe entered

  Speaker 1: into the world that he created, yet the world failed

  Speaker 1: to recognize him. Wow, imagine making something with your own
• 25:22
  Speaker 1: hands and then it rejects you, like, I mean, I
• 25:28
  Speaker 1: just can't imagine, like a little gingerbread man and he
• 25:31
  Speaker 1: sticks his tongue out at you. You're like, what, But
• 25:35
  Speaker 1: that's Jesus. He made the world. But the world trusted him.

  Speaker 1: I mean, the world treated him like he was a stranger.
• 25:49
  Speaker 1: And if we're honest, sometimes we do the same ignoring
• 25:53
  Speaker 1: him and the very life that he gave to us.

  Speaker 1: Many times do we go out our day, go about
• 26:02
  Speaker 1: our day and don't even engage him, don't acknowledge him,

  Speaker 1: don't thank him. We just go about our day like
• 26:11
  Speaker 1: he's not even there. And this is convicting to me.
