School’s back in session, and Ohio State Highway Patrol is sounding the alarm on school bus safety after over 7,000 crashes since 2021 — including fatalities. Drivers must stop completely, at least 10 feet away, when a bus’s red lights flash and stop arm extends — unless on multi-lane or divided highways. Stay put until the bus moves or the driver signals it’s safe. Patrols also conduct nearly 40,000 bus inspections yearly to ensure vehicles are road-ready.
