- 0:00Speaker 1: Well, there's one man, and you know, I got to
- 0:02Speaker 1: start with this because he's our main man, and of
- 0:04Speaker 1: course you know him. Well, mister Charles Barkley, who's joining us,
- 0:09Speaker 1: and he actually picked the Cleveland Cavaliers. John, don't you
- 0:13Speaker 1: do this to make it to the championships before this year,
- 0:16Speaker 1: before this, before the before the playoffs started? So Charles,
- 0:21Speaker 1: what what does Charles have.
- 0:22Speaker 2: To say to that?
- 0:24Speaker 3: I was one wrong?
- 0:28Speaker 2: How you doing?
- 0:29Speaker 3: Just?
- 0:29Speaker 2: We we appreciate you joining us.
- 0:31Speaker 4: Man, Hey man, there's an honor you know, Patrick said
- 0:34Speaker 4: this before.
- 0:35Speaker 3: Man, any time I get to be around your brother
- 0:37Speaker 3: as an.
- 0:37Speaker 4: Honor and privilege, you know, because I tell people they said,
- 0:41Speaker 4: why do you like John macro so much? I says,
- 0:45Speaker 4: because I want people to know sports matter to me.
- 0:50Speaker 3: And did I cross the line time? Did John? Yes?
- 0:54Speaker 3: Of course we did.
- 0:55Speaker 4: But there's never watching John play and hopefully my set.
- 1:00Speaker 4: I told George Kettle this year because I was on
- 1:02Speaker 4: Josh Kittle's podcast, I said, dude, you one of my
- 1:05Speaker 4: favorite players.
- 1:05Speaker 3: He said, why do you say that?
- 1:07Speaker 4: I said, you care about winning and that's all fans can.
- 1:11Speaker 3: Ask you to do. We all want to win.
- 1:14Speaker 4: But I wanted people to say I didn't win all
- 1:18Speaker 4: the time, but I wanted to know, like, yeah, man,
- 1:21Speaker 4: I'm honored to play a professional because it's a honor
- 1:23Speaker 4: to play the sport.
- 1:24Speaker 3: So go ahead, finish up, keep going.
- 1:28Speaker 4: I wanted people to know that I cared Patrick, I
- 1:30Speaker 4: really did. And to me, that's the ultimate compliment you
- 1:34Speaker 4: can give any player, Like, yo, you gave me your best.
- 1:37Speaker 3: That's all I could ask.
- 1:39Speaker 5: Can you say the same about the Cavaliers and the
- 1:42Speaker 5: last game and a half the way they played. I mean,
- 1:45Speaker 5: I'm static obviously wearing this jersey Mellows Old jersey, among others.
- 1:51Speaker 5: Tell me about that.
- 1:53Speaker 3: That was disappointing because one stat.
- 1:56Speaker 4: That I'm really proud of John I never got swept
- 1:59Speaker 4: in a seven game series, because that's humiliating and embarrassing.
- 2:03Speaker 4: And when you when you come out in game three,
- 2:05Speaker 4: let's go back to Game three, you give up thirty
- 2:08Speaker 4: seven points in a must win game at home, you like, yeah,
- 2:13Speaker 4: you unpacked it in then to back it up to
- 2:16Speaker 4: go get swept.
- 2:16Speaker 3: Last night, they gave up a whole thirty eight. So
- 2:19Speaker 3: that tells me.
- 2:20Speaker 4: And I showed several plays where you're like, yeah, man,
- 2:23Speaker 4: they're just.
- 2:24Speaker 3: Going through the motions. They're ready, they're ready to go.
- 2:28Speaker 1: We got some tennis just on Charles as well as
- 2:31Speaker 1: we go through this, and we're so happy you're with us.
- 2:33Speaker 1: We got mister Bublick out. There's quite the character he's serving.
- 2:36Speaker 2: At four or five.
- 2:37Speaker 1: We just saw Coco Golf get a win over Taylor Townsend. Charles,
- 2:41Speaker 1: I don't know if you caught any of that. Coco,
- 2:43Speaker 1: of course, the defending champ here. She's one of the
- 2:46Speaker 1: great competitors, won a couple of majors.
- 2:48Speaker 2: What do you think about her and her chances here
- 2:50Speaker 2: this year?
- 2:52Speaker 3: You know, first of all, she is terrific.
- 2:54Speaker 4: I was actually going back and forth on both masters
- 2:57Speaker 4: because I was looking because then we were talking about
- 2:59Speaker 4: getting ready for this interview.
- 3:00Speaker 3: They were gonna do it as soon as name Homi got.
- 3:03Speaker 4: Done, and she was down like four to one or
- 3:05Speaker 4: five to two in the second set. I'm like, well,
- 3:08Speaker 4: we're gonna be here a minute. Then she had to
- 3:11Speaker 4: have miraculous, miraculous comeback and winning the said in the
- 3:14Speaker 4: time breaker, which was awesome. But I was going back
- 3:17Speaker 4: and forth on that. Coco matt Man, I love her story.
- 3:21Speaker 4: I started following her obviously a few years Ago. I
- 3:24Speaker 4: love the support she gets from her mom and dad,
- 3:28Speaker 4: And it's just because you know, man, being into the
- 3:30Speaker 4: limelight in tennis is probably the worst sport. What I
- 3:34Speaker 4: mean by that is y'all are probably more famous as
- 3:37Speaker 4: teenagers than any other sport in the world.
- 3:42Speaker 3: And you guys both.
- 3:44Speaker 4: Know, man fame is a lot man fame and attention.
- 3:49Speaker 4: Everybody only looks at the positive. But you know, John,
- 3:53Speaker 4: you've been around a long time. Say with you, Patrick Man,
- 3:56Speaker 4: We've seen a lot of crash and burns and coaches,
- 4:00Speaker 4: got tremendous.
- 4:01Speaker 3: Parents and you it's hard man.
- 4:04Speaker 4: And then it seems it's always said you people think
- 4:07Speaker 4: you're whining. It really sucks to be famous, I said,
- 4:10Speaker 4: because you don't understand what it's like, the everyday thing
- 4:14Speaker 4: depressure these kids are under. And like I say, tennis
- 4:17Speaker 4: is properly the worst because you guys are great as teenagers.
- 4:21Speaker 4: It don't matter if you're great in other sports a teenagers,
- 4:24Speaker 4: you don't get the limelight like you do in tennis.
- 4:27Speaker 4: I mean, you got teenagers and these majors, Man, they're
- 4:29Speaker 4: in a tremendous stress and you just got to have
- 4:33Speaker 4: a good support system because.
- 4:35Speaker 3: When you're famous and rich.
- 4:37Speaker 4: Everybody's kissing your ass because they're on the payroll. And
- 4:42Speaker 4: that's why people are said, man, these child actors and
- 4:44Speaker 4: some of these athletes, they always in trouble. I said, well,
- 4:47Speaker 4: they don't have a good support system because the people
- 4:50Speaker 4: around you. There's so many yes men because they don't
- 4:53Speaker 4: want to mess up the paycheck. But it's really difficult,
- 4:57Speaker 4: especially now with social media, uh and things like that.
- 5:01Speaker 4: These kids are there so much pressure. So I love
- 5:04Speaker 4: Cocoa's story, but I love the way her mom and
- 5:07Speaker 4: dad have always supported her. Seems like she's on the
- 5:10Speaker 4: right path and she's got to get that serve things
- 5:13Speaker 4: straight now.
- 5:14Speaker 3: Yeah, that sure.
- 5:17Speaker 5: The college I've been espousing players going to college so
- 5:23Speaker 5: they can mature a little bit so they can handle this.
- 5:26Speaker 5: And now with the nil stuff, it seems like, I mean,
- 5:29Speaker 5: obviously it's more so in football and basketball that allows
- 5:32Speaker 5: them to potentially get paid and sort of understand what
- 5:36Speaker 5: it takes. What do you think about that. I mean,
- 5:38Speaker 5: I'm sure you're a proponent of.
- 5:40Speaker 3: That as well.
- 5:42Speaker 4: It's one hundred percent correct, because hey, listen, to make
- 5:46Speaker 4: kids adults right away, they're not ready mentally or physically
- 5:51Speaker 4: because you might be a great tennis player in high
- 5:57Speaker 4: school and even in college, that means little and nothing
- 6:00Speaker 4: in the pros.
- 6:01Speaker 3: We don't give a damn about you in the pros.
- 6:04Speaker 4: And you're like you people are just walking with my
- 6:07Speaker 4: son's the best player in Georgia. I says, yeah, they
- 6:09Speaker 4: got forty nine other of those too.
- 6:11Speaker 3: You know. You know, I said you just one to fifty.
- 6:15Speaker 4: And I says, so, don't tell me your son is
- 6:18Speaker 4: mister Georgia or mister Florida.
- 6:19Speaker 3: That means absolutely.
- 6:20Speaker 4: Nothing, But I judge you one hundred percent correct. Going
- 6:23Speaker 4: to college number one, learn how to live life a
- 6:27Speaker 4: little bit, but also get competitively strong, get your confidence
- 6:32Speaker 4: because a lot of times if you go out there
- 6:34Speaker 4: too young, you're gonna start getting your brains be there
- 6:38Speaker 4: right away, and that's gonna stunt your growth. Also, people
- 6:42Speaker 4: don't even think about that aspect of it, because you
- 6:44Speaker 4: go from being the man or the woman, and then
- 6:47Speaker 4: you're like, you go out there and you can play
- 6:49Speaker 4: against the Sabolenko or golf You're like, WHOA, this is
- 6:53Speaker 4: a whole of a level.
- 6:55Speaker 3: And so I think going to college, getting.
- 6:58Speaker 4: Physically stronger, getting mentally stronger, and getting your comfortens up.
- 7:03Speaker 4: I think that going to really help a lot of
- 7:04Speaker 4: players going forward.
- 7:06Speaker 3: You know that.
- 7:07Speaker 5: It's so how do you differentiate to me? Because this
- 7:09Speaker 5: is the trick. You got a guy like this Joe
- 7:12Speaker 5: Carlos Alcarez, who can handle it all at a very
- 7:16Speaker 5: young age.
- 7:17Speaker 3: And when byam.
- 7:18Speaker 5: I'll throw out a basketball player who's come out, seems
- 7:21Speaker 5: like he said, figured it all out already.
- 7:23Speaker 2: So that's the key.
- 7:24Speaker 5: How do you figure out which when the time is right.
- 7:27Speaker 3: For a young guy or girl.
- 7:29Speaker 4: You know that that is a great question because all
- 7:33Speaker 4: these all these things, all these quote unquote guys, they're
- 7:37Speaker 4: not all created equal. Because I let me give you
- 7:40Speaker 4: an example of the NBA. Remember when Kobe Bryant sucked
- 7:43Speaker 4: at the beginning of his career. People get it because
- 7:45Speaker 4: became like one of the five to ten best basketball players.
- 7:49Speaker 4: Remember they booed him early. The only player in my
- 7:53Speaker 4: forty years out the only player who was good out
- 7:56Speaker 4: of high school, The only one I've ever seen was
- 7:58Speaker 4: Lebron's name.
- 8:00Speaker 3: Kevin Garnett's struggled will turned into an all.
- 8:02Speaker 4: Time great, chased him a grady struggle turned into a
- 8:05Speaker 4: great player.
- 8:07Speaker 3: All these like so yeah.
- 8:09Speaker 4: They threw them out there, but there's there was growing pain.
- 8:12Speaker 4: They were playing against grown men. But you're right, Carlos
- 8:17Speaker 4: came out. But it's so rare.
- 8:20Speaker 3: Well, these guys come out and they're able. We number one,
- 8:23Speaker 3: they're so.
- 8:24Speaker 4: Gifted they can handle it fromt the beginning. But we're
- 8:26Speaker 4: talking except one of the reasons I hate.
- 8:28Speaker 3: The whole nil team.
- 8:31Speaker 4: Yeah, we probably was screwing less than one percent of
- 8:35Speaker 4: the players who probably should.
- 8:36Speaker 3: Have been making money.
- 8:37Speaker 4: But this model we got now where we're going to
- 8:40Speaker 4: bankrupt college sports and have to have and have nots
- 8:45Speaker 4: we threw. We screwed up the entire college program. Well
- 8:49Speaker 4: ninety nine point Now these kids I actually have to
- 8:51Speaker 4: get an education going out into.
- 8:53Speaker 3: The real world. We screwed up the whole.
- 8:56Speaker 4: College system to placate one percent of the people asked
- 9:01Speaker 4: to gonna go pro and make money.
- 9:03Speaker 3: It's amazing. It's amazing, like society and Jenny.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Yeah, it's amazing how college sports Charles used to have
- 9:08Speaker 1: basically way too many rules and now there's just no
- 9:11Speaker 1: rules at all.
- 9:11Speaker 2: So all hell's broken loose.
- 9:13Speaker 1: But do you realize that, Johnny Mack, you may not
- 9:15Speaker 1: know this, Charles, And well we made the semi finals
- 9:18Speaker 1: of Wimbledon right after he graduated from high school, and
- 9:21Speaker 1: then later that year he was already ranked.
- 9:24Speaker 2: You were like top thirty twenty one. He was ranked
- 9:26Speaker 2: in the world. He was still a quote unquote amateur.
- 9:30Speaker 1: But our parents, who had always stressed education, said, especially
- 9:34Speaker 1: our mom, said Johnny, you need to go to Stanford
- 9:37Speaker 1: for at least a year. And he went, as you said,
- 9:39Speaker 1: went for a year, loved it, had a great time,
- 9:42Speaker 1: and then went out out.
- 9:43Speaker 2: Into the tour. And know Kobe, by the way, only
- 9:45Speaker 2: average bed.
- 9:46Speaker 1: I think it was seven and a half points a
- 9:47Speaker 1: game that first year that you mentioned in the league.
- 9:52Speaker 4: We're talking about the top of the line, right, We'll
- 9:56Speaker 4: talk about two of the best to ever do it.
- 9:58Speaker 4: And the problem is your family and your friends trying
- 10:02Speaker 4: to get to your money as quick as possible. They're like, well,
- 10:05Speaker 4: maybe you're not ready to turn pro. Nah, you're ready
- 10:10Speaker 4: because we want that money. If we want that money
- 10:13Speaker 4: as soon as we can get it. They never think
- 10:16Speaker 4: the big picture. Then you got the agents, you know,
- 10:18Speaker 4: the lot of the agents of scumbags too. They're trying
- 10:21Speaker 4: to get you to your second contract when you make
- 10:23Speaker 4: the crazy money.
- 10:25Speaker 3: So it is that goes back to what I was
- 10:28Speaker 3: saying earlier.
- 10:29Speaker 4: Man, fame is really I've been so honored and blessed,
- 10:32Speaker 4: how a great life. But man, I've seen so many
- 10:35Speaker 4: tried to stories with guys like no, man, go to college.
- 10:38Speaker 4: Go to college for a year or two. Uh, it
- 10:42Speaker 4: ain't gonna hurt you.
- 10:44Speaker 5: But you how many years did you go to college?
- 10:48Speaker 4: I went?
- 10:49Speaker 3: I went three years.
- 10:51Speaker 4: But you look at somebody think about all the all
- 10:54Speaker 4: time great players like Kobe and Lebron, they're probably the
- 10:59Speaker 4: two high guys who are probably in the top tens
- 11:02Speaker 4: and wherever.
- 11:03Speaker 3: You want to put them.
- 11:04Speaker 4: But if you look at Michael Oscar Robertson, Bill Russell, Kareem,
- 11:09Speaker 4: Wilt Chamberlain, Jerry Wes, Matthew Johnson, Larryberg, those are and
- 11:14Speaker 4: those are like the top ten in my guys, in
- 11:17Speaker 4: my opinion, I got Cope Lebron like six and seven,
- 11:22Speaker 4: I said, But every other calendar list went to cars
- 11:24Speaker 4: for at least three or four years. It didn't stunt
- 11:27Speaker 4: their growth. The greatest players ever all with Tim Duncan,
- 11:34Speaker 4: all time the best power for it ever, all these guys,
- 11:37Speaker 4: Cope and Lebron are the only two player in my
- 11:41Speaker 4: top ten.
- 11:42Speaker 5: Did you say that Lebron with seven? Did he put
- 11:44Speaker 5: Lebron seven?
- 11:46Speaker 3: I put Lebron, I got Kobe six.
- 11:48Speaker 4: This is just my opinion, John, I got so, I
- 11:52Speaker 4: got Michael Oscar, Will, Kareem and Bill Russell.
- 11:56Speaker 3: That's my top five. I got Kobe six, I got
- 12:00Speaker 3: Ron seven.
- 12:01Speaker 4: I got Magic and Bird and Tim Duncan and Jerry West.
- 12:05Speaker 4: Those are like my top ten players. And uh, that's
- 12:08Speaker 4: like I said, It's off. Everybody had their own opinion.
- 12:10Speaker 4: I said, And you know that's the one thing about
- 12:12Speaker 4: the Lebron group. If you don't say he's the greatest ever,
- 12:16Speaker 4: it's like you committed treason.
- 12:19Speaker 3: I said. I said, he's one of the ten greatest.
- 12:21Speaker 4: And I said, I would take Michael and Kobe before
- 12:25Speaker 4: I take Lebron. Those are the three best basketball players
- 12:28Speaker 4: I've ever seen in my life.
- 12:30Speaker 3: But for some reason, when.
- 12:31Speaker 4: You don't sell Lebron as the best, his minions go
- 12:35Speaker 4: ballistic and crazy. I'm like, hey, he's the third best
- 12:38Speaker 4: basketball player I've ever seen. Get over it.
- 12:41Speaker 5: What about your cohort, Shaquille?
- 12:44Speaker 2: Where do you put him on the line?
- 12:46Speaker 4: He's right there behind Tim Duncan and keep right there.
- 12:51Speaker 2: I'm sure he likes that when you tell him that.
- 12:53Speaker 3: On our you know, that's the good that's the good
- 12:56Speaker 3: thing about it.
- 12:56Speaker 4: He probably won't be paying attention to the French Open,
- 12:59Speaker 4: so he probably won't be.
- 13:00Speaker 3: Watching the mag Zolls. He probably Yeah, yeah, one of
- 13:06Speaker 3: my friends, Charles.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Listen, we're trying to up our game here. I'm trying
- 13:12Speaker 1: to get Johnny Mack to hit the social media. I
- 13:14Speaker 1: know that's been a little.
- 13:15Speaker 2: Tricky for you.
- 13:16Speaker 3: I want to ask.
- 13:17Speaker 2: Okay, King Charles is in the house, they.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Said, And Charles Barkley looks so good.
- 13:21Speaker 2: Our man Lucas is here.
- 13:23Speaker 1: He's following all this stuff for us, Chuck on social media,
- 13:26Speaker 1: so I think he might have a question for you.
- 13:29Speaker 4: I well, let me just say it before. Yeah, let
- 13:31Speaker 4: me ask you a question social media. We got tornadoes,
- 13:36Speaker 4: hurricane these are some of the worst thing that happen
- 13:39Speaker 4: to the world. Social media has owned that list, like hurricanes, tornadoes.
- 13:44Speaker 5: Uh so, go ahead, la no, no, before you ask
- 13:47Speaker 5: this question, because that's I want you to answer this
- 13:50Speaker 5: one before. Lucas hands I've never been on social media
- 13:53Speaker 5: in my life, Charles. I'm sixty seven years old. I
- 13:57Speaker 5: was trying to start. I am trying to start it.
- 13:59Speaker 3: To kill it.
- 14:00Speaker 5: Thing. People saying that I still, you know, in order
- 14:03Speaker 5: to be quote unquote relevant, that I need to go
- 14:07Speaker 5: on social media. And I said, Charles Barkley's never been
- 14:09Speaker 5: on it.
- 14:10Speaker 2: The guy's the man.
- 14:11Speaker 3: And then I hear you are on it.
- 14:14Speaker 5: Tell me what do you think I should do?
- 14:16Speaker 3: You know what's really about that, John? I bought a
- 14:20Speaker 3: distillery in Alabama.
- 14:23Speaker 4: I got a vodka and a gin, and they're like,
- 14:27Speaker 4: I've never I just started social media. The only reason
- 14:32Speaker 4: I went on social media is because I started an
- 14:35Speaker 4: I bought a distillery in Alabama.
- 14:37Speaker 3: That's the only reason. But the one thing.
- 14:39Speaker 4: I do, John, I never read comments. I only post positive.
- 14:45Speaker 4: I only post positive stuff. But the one thing, and
- 14:50Speaker 4: the girl who runs my life on social media, I said,
- 14:52Speaker 4: don't you ever read a damn comment because you realized, man,
- 14:56Speaker 4: it's just some evil people out there. I only post
- 15:00Speaker 4: positive stuff about my vodkas in I only post inspirational
- 15:04Speaker 4: stories and things like that.
- 15:07Speaker 3: But I never read comments. So if you're going to.
- 15:11Speaker 4: Do a tequila, I'm gonna want to need to make
- 15:13Speaker 4: sure I get something too, absolutely, but don't ever read
- 15:17Speaker 4: the comments. And I tell the girl who runs my life,
- 15:20Speaker 4: don't you ever read the damn comment? I know people
- 15:23Speaker 4: people don't like me.
- 15:24Speaker 3: I get it.
- 15:25Speaker 4: Everybody's gotten the paint on everything, but don't read the comments.
- 15:29Speaker 4: We're trying to do something positive. That's it.
- 15:32Speaker 1: By the way, Charles, I want to just tell you that,
- 15:34Speaker 1: you know, for John and I to be working with
- 15:36Speaker 1: your guys from TNT, you know, it's been.
- 15:39Speaker 2: It's been awesome for us. And I told them.
- 15:42Speaker 1: Specifically last year and we started the Mac Zone. You know,
- 15:45Speaker 1: we we put up a couple of comments that were
- 15:47Speaker 1: a little negative. I said, you know, I think we
- 15:48Speaker 1: better take what you just said. And you know, because
- 15:51Speaker 1: we want to keep Johnny Mac happy over here. We
- 15:54Speaker 1: don't need the negativity. We want to bring the positivity.
- 15:57Speaker 1: So Lucas bring us some positivity one hundred percent from
- 16:00Speaker 1: social media.
- 16:01Speaker 6: I know Charles doesn't read the comments, but I'm here
- 16:03Speaker 6: reading all of the comments so he doesn't have to.
- 16:05Speaker 6: And they are loving you, so it's not of course
- 16:07Speaker 6: on social but they're also very happily surprised with his
- 16:11Speaker 6: excellent tennis analysis. They're wondering, for all three of you,
- 16:14Speaker 6: if you could watch any two players from any era,
- 16:16Speaker 6: play at any venue. What would that matchup look.
- 16:19Speaker 5: Like you're talking about in ten ten tennis?
- 16:22Speaker 2: Yes, I like that one.
- 16:25Speaker 5: Yeah, if you could write, I would like to see, uh,
- 16:28Speaker 5: let's see at his peak. I would like to see
- 16:32Speaker 5: Roger Fetter play Carlos al Carez on at Wimbledon.
- 16:36Speaker 2: Okay, I would like.
- 16:38Speaker 1: To see you from eighty four, when you still have
- 16:41Speaker 1: the best single season in history on the men's side,
- 16:44Speaker 1: play Roger Fetter in his prime.
- 16:45Speaker 3: That's what that would be my dream.
- 16:47Speaker 2: What about you, Charles.
- 16:49Speaker 3: John, what service would you want to play?
- 16:52Speaker 5: Roger Ome I'd love to play in Wimbledon or are
- 16:55Speaker 5: the US Open? Either one of those. You know, I
- 16:58Speaker 5: might get my butt kicked, but it would be you know,
- 17:01Speaker 5: that's that's.
- 17:01Speaker 3: What you want.
- 17:02Speaker 5: You want to play the absolute best to see what
- 17:04Speaker 5: you got.
- 17:06Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, I.
- 17:09Speaker 4: Love all sports. I watched all the majors in tennis.
- 17:13Speaker 4: That that's pretty much I'm always I'm gonna watch the
- 17:16Speaker 4: majors pretty much an Inny sport like I only like
- 17:20Speaker 4: I watched the Kentucky Derby. I mean I watched horse
- 17:22Speaker 4: racing four times a year, the Trip of Crowns and
- 17:26Speaker 4: the Breeders Cup. I've never I never watched horse racing
- 17:31Speaker 4: except those four times a year because like, yeah, I
- 17:34Speaker 4: want to watch the major thing.
- 17:35Speaker 3: And so it's trading.
- 17:37Speaker 4: Open the French women to the New York. But the
- 17:39Speaker 4: answer your question, and I hate saying this because I
- 17:43Speaker 4: know John is gonna go crazy. Don't sell god, no,
- 17:47Speaker 4: no no.
- 17:48Speaker 3: And I said this last night.
- 17:50Speaker 4: I had not been to New York to a big
- 17:54Speaker 4: game because we don't travel except normally to the conference finals.
- 17:59Speaker 4: And last year I had not been in Madson Square
- 18:02Speaker 4: Garden for a big game in probably thirty years. And
- 18:08Speaker 4: then being there last year for the conference finals. Man,
- 18:11Speaker 4: it was giving me goosebumps every game. I cannot And
- 18:16Speaker 4: so this year the cool thing about this whole ESPN
- 18:19Speaker 4: we actually we've never done the finals before. And I
- 18:22Speaker 4: said last night, man, I'm in heaven right now, our
- 18:25Speaker 4: first finals. We're gonna get to go back to Madison
- 18:28Speaker 4: Square and Gardens. I cannot wait to get there. It's
- 18:31Speaker 4: gonna be it's because it's something different about it. I
- 18:34Speaker 4: hate to say it. But the answer that question to
- 18:38Speaker 4: see John or Roger or Novak or somebody at the
- 18:44Speaker 4: US Open in New York.
- 18:46Speaker 3: Man, And like I said. The reason I hated because first.
- 18:50Speaker 4: Of all, these New Yorkers, Man, they're the best.
- 18:56Speaker 3: They're the best and the worst. I told this, I
- 19:00Speaker 3: told his story Patrick on television. This is two weeks ago.
- 19:04Speaker 4: Okay, So obviously we do our show in Atlanta, right,
- 19:09Speaker 4: so we all stay at the same hotel that's the
- 19:11Speaker 4: New York Knicks. So after Game three, you bump into
- 19:17Speaker 4: the fans in the hotel. Man, why do we get
- 19:20Speaker 4: rid of the TIBs. We gotta get rid of Mike Brown.
- 19:26Speaker 4: We got to do everything in our power. This team sucks.
- 19:30Speaker 4: We got to do everything in our power to get Youngnest.
- 19:33Speaker 3: This is a mere two weeks ago, Patrick, and.
- 19:36Speaker 2: Now and now look what happened eleven in a row.
- 19:38Speaker 4: Now, hey, no, two days later, after they win Game four,
- 19:44Speaker 4: even before even before.
- 19:45Speaker 3: The Cleveland series, we're going to the finals. I said, yep, man,
- 19:50Speaker 3: it's too two. No, we're going to the finals.
- 19:53Speaker 4: I mean the move swing, the move swings of these
- 19:56Speaker 4: New York fans. It's one of the most fast and things.
- 20:02Speaker 4: And Michael Bridge lendid Sherman. We had them on the
- 20:06Speaker 4: show last night and I said, can you explain to
- 20:10Speaker 4: a regular person what it's like to be winning in
- 20:13Speaker 4: New York right now, He says, Man, I'm.
- 20:16Speaker 3: Not gonna lie, Chuck. It is. I can't even explain.
- 20:21Speaker 4: I don't even know if there's a word, what's happening
- 20:24Speaker 4: in New York right now? And for them to And
- 20:27Speaker 4: even though I picked Cleveland before the playoffs started, I
- 20:29Speaker 4: said a couple of weeks ago, I think it could
- 20:32Speaker 4: be one of the greatest things for our fort if
- 20:37Speaker 4: the Knicks make it to the finals.
- 20:38Speaker 3: And now they're there. And let me tell you something.
- 20:42Speaker 3: We were out, so we were out watching hockey last
- 20:45Speaker 3: night because it was an overtime after our game.
- 20:48Speaker 4: Shout out to the Hurricanes won a second straight overtime game.
- 20:53Speaker 4: They showed the odds they're gonna be a three to
- 20:56Speaker 4: one underdog to both teams who ever come out of
- 21:00Speaker 4: the West.
- 21:01Speaker 3: Uh. They was showing that. I was watching Espen last night.
- 21:05Speaker 4: I think, if Okac comes out there minus three hundred
- 21:09Speaker 4: and if it's the Spurs's minas like minus two seventy five.
- 21:13Speaker 3: And I was saying, yo, man, I think the Knicks
- 21:17Speaker 3: might win.
- 21:17Speaker 5: And the next witness, whatever you do, Charles, please don't
- 21:22Speaker 5: pick the next win.
- 21:25Speaker 4: You know I'm probably not going to because okay, see
- 21:30Speaker 4: or the Spurs are gonna be heavily papered, like if
- 21:33Speaker 4: you picked up the Knicks to win, you just trying
- 21:35Speaker 4: to act like you're smart just in case they won.
- 21:38Speaker 1: Right, We know, guys, like we got a question though
- 21:41Speaker 1: for it Chuck. This is a good, pretty good one
- 21:43Speaker 1: from from our social media from Abby Stoltz, who wants
- 21:46Speaker 1: to know how many sets.
- 21:48Speaker 2: Would Chuck versus Shack go on clay.
- 21:54Speaker 4: First of all, I think I think my conditioning would
- 21:57Speaker 4: take over number one.
- 22:02Speaker 3: Hey, you know what's really wanting to repeat back me?
- 22:04Speaker 4: While I like tennis so much, I never played basketball
- 22:08Speaker 4: during the summer until like a month.
- 22:11Speaker 3: Before training came started.
- 22:12Speaker 4: I played tennis pretty much every day just to kind
- 22:15Speaker 4: of stay on my conditioning. And I had one of
- 22:19Speaker 4: those stupid games I'm gonna serve hard and come to
- 22:24Speaker 4: the net, or I'm gonna try to get your return
- 22:27Speaker 4: back and I'm coming to the net, Like, Yeah, I
- 22:31Speaker 4: had one pressure game because random, and I'm not.
- 22:37Speaker 3: Playing against really good tennis player.
- 22:39Speaker 4: I'm playing against other jocks to have pitpoint accuracy, because
- 22:43Speaker 4: at that time I had some serious quickness. To have
- 22:46Speaker 4: guys try to pass you over and over, Like I say,
- 22:51Speaker 4: that's the only way I was going to play. I'm
- 22:53Speaker 4: gonna serve it hard and hope I get an age.
- 22:55Speaker 4: But I'm coming to the net one hundred.
- 22:57Speaker 3: Percent of the time and put I'm put pressure on,
- 23:01Speaker 3: You're gonna have to pass me. Man. And people think
- 23:04Speaker 3: that's easy.
- 23:04Speaker 4: It's not easy because you better get it down the
- 23:08Speaker 4: line because if you get it anywhere in my range,
- 23:11Speaker 4: I'm gonna get it back across the neck.
- 23:13Speaker 3: But I'm coming to the net of the time.
- 23:17Speaker 5: Is that how you lost all that weight? You know,
- 23:18Speaker 5: train here on the tennis court or what's going on?
- 23:20Speaker 5: I mean, dropped a ton of weight?
- 23:22Speaker 3: Man? Yeah, you know, shout out to road dot Co.
- 23:25Speaker 5: I'm doing.
- 23:26Speaker 3: I'm doing a drug. I'm doing a Johnny I'm doing
- 23:30Speaker 3: I'm doing a drug called zep Bound. You know.
- 23:32Speaker 4: I gained one hundred pounds because in my heyday. In
- 23:36Speaker 4: my heyday, I played at three fifty. I got up
- 23:39Speaker 4: about three seventy three seventy because let me say seventy
- 23:46Speaker 4: oh yeah, and now I'm down to two seventy. I
- 23:49Speaker 4: want because when I started doing this drug, I wanted
- 23:52Speaker 4: to get down to two sixty five to seventy I've
- 23:55Speaker 4: been on the drug.
- 23:56Speaker 3: I take a shot once a week. I love it.
- 23:59Speaker 3: It's been great. I will I will tell you something's funny.
- 24:02Speaker 4: It's the only endorsement while I actually lost money because
- 24:07Speaker 4: I got about twenty five of my friends on the
- 24:10Speaker 4: drug that I'm paying for it.
- 24:13Speaker 3: It's the only it's the only commercial. Well, I'm I'm
- 24:16Speaker 3: at a fire.
- 24:17Speaker 4: That's your deficits. I got about twenty five of my
- 24:21Speaker 4: fat friends. I give all my fat for I give
- 24:24Speaker 4: all my fat friends three three months of the medication.
- 24:28Speaker 4: So at least that's a that's a good simple size,
- 24:30Speaker 4: so I know if they're seriously about losing weight. So
- 24:34Speaker 4: but I got dude, hey, dude, I'm serious. I'm at
- 24:39Speaker 4: a fin nasal deficit. I didn't realize I had that
- 24:41Speaker 4: many fat ass friends.
- 24:44Speaker 5: When when you play tennis, by the way, because I
- 24:46Speaker 5: played way back when in some charity events, and one
- 24:48Speaker 5: time I played with doctor j uh and you know
- 24:52Speaker 5: he they lobbed over his head and he wouldn't jump.
- 24:55Speaker 5: I said, this guy is a Michael Jordan, for God's sakes,
- 24:57Speaker 5: in the seventies and in the early eighties, and he
- 25:01Speaker 5: wouldn't jump. For an overhead, you know, and I'm thinking,
- 25:03Speaker 5: what the hell's going on here? This guy's got hops
- 25:06Speaker 5: in you galore?
- 25:07Speaker 3: He really had used all his hops up all right?
- 25:12Speaker 5: Before you go.
- 25:13Speaker 3: I picked I picked up a tennis rack the first time.
- 25:16Speaker 3: About a year ago.
- 25:17Speaker 4: We were out drinking and smoking cigars in my backyard
- 25:21Speaker 4: and one of my friends, Brenna, started talking trash to me,
- 25:24Speaker 4: and I guess he played back in high school.
- 25:26Speaker 3: And I didn't know it because I didn't know I
- 25:28Speaker 3: made him when I got.
- 25:28Speaker 4: Traded to Phoenix and we got drunk and started talking trash,
- 25:32Speaker 4: and he told me he could beat me in tennis.
- 25:34Speaker 4: He's a little nerdy dude, and he beat me like
- 25:37Speaker 4: six' one. I was so damn pissed. I'm not gonna lie.
- 25:42Speaker 4: I want to rematch too, now that I'm skinny again,
- 25:45Speaker 4: I want to rematch, all right.
- 25:46Speaker 1: Charles, before we let you go, and we appreciate you
- 25:48Speaker 1: giving us all this time.
- 25:49Speaker 2: Were so pumped to talk to you. Give us who
- 25:52Speaker 2: our knicks will be playing in the final. Number one
- 25:54Speaker 2: your prediction there and number.
- 25:56Speaker 1: Two your prediction for who's gonna win this tournament, the
- 26:00Speaker 1: men's and the women's.
- 26:01Speaker 5: It's that I'd like to say, go ahead.
- 26:04Speaker 4: Well, first of all, it's it's two things gonna happen
- 26:09Speaker 4: in the West. We either gonna watch the beginning of
- 26:13Speaker 4: a dynasty with okay see, or are we gonna watch
- 26:18Speaker 4: the beginning of a dynasty with Victor women yama Whoever
- 26:23Speaker 4: comes out of the West okay c is gonna be
- 26:26Speaker 4: going for the back to back championships, or we're gonna
- 26:30Speaker 4: be starting the beginning of the Victor women Yama era.
- 26:36Speaker 4: I thought, okay see. I think unless they get Jayalen.
- 26:40Speaker 3: Williams back, I think the Spurs are gonna win the series.
- 26:45Speaker 4: I truly believe that they need Jalen Williams to beat
- 26:49Speaker 4: to beat the Spurs. He might play tonight. I can't
- 26:53Speaker 4: wait to watch that game. Because this is a big
- 26:56Speaker 4: boy game. You're gonna have to bring it tonight. Now
- 26:59Speaker 4: it's tennis. I think it's gonna come down to Sablenka
- 27:04Speaker 4: and golf and the women. What's fascinating. Can Joker get
- 27:11Speaker 4: to I can Joker get to the finals without no accoraz.
- 27:18Speaker 4: You know, he had a tough first match. The young
- 27:21Speaker 4: kid gave him all he could handle. He can't have
- 27:25Speaker 4: that wear and tearing last two weeks in his age,
- 27:29Speaker 4: He's gonna have to have a couple of easy matches
- 27:31Speaker 4: because once he gets to the quarters and things like that,
- 27:35Speaker 4: those guys are good enough to beat him because he's
- 27:37Speaker 4: obviously past his prime. But he need a couple of
- 27:40Speaker 4: easy matches. That was a tough opening match. Obviously centers
- 27:44Speaker 4: to heavy favorite in his histate. I was surprised Fritz
- 27:49Speaker 4: got out that early. Our root for Ben Shelton. I
- 27:55Speaker 4: would like to see Shelton because I always want to
- 27:57Speaker 4: see the American men do well.
- 27:59Speaker 3: Yes, a great deal.
- 28:01Speaker 5: It's center. Let's face it, it's you know, the next week.
- 28:04Speaker 3: Let's be real, Yeah, come on, ye hundred percent. But
- 28:08Speaker 3: we need another great American player.
- 28:12Speaker 2: We need we we agree, We appreciate it.
- 28:16Speaker 3: Charles, thank you something.
- 28:17Speaker 2: How about this picture of you?
- 28:18Speaker 5: Can I come visit the inside the NBA next week
- 28:20Speaker 5: in the garden, come say hello.
- 28:23Speaker 4: Hey, we're gonna have you on the showy and I
- 28:25Speaker 4: know you're gonna be happy to be back for Game three.
- 28:28Speaker 3: You're damn right a him.
- 28:29Speaker 2: Yeah, he'll be right there.
- 28:30Speaker 3: Hopefully he'll be in the front row.
- 28:31Speaker 1: We'll get to pick a chuck a little baguette, little
- 28:33Speaker 1: glass of wine.
- 28:34Speaker 2: You're living large, baby,
