- 0:12come out here every day to record a podcast to teach
- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy. Into the.
- 0:21World. So welcome to the coop, and
- 0:23let's start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Hey everybody good. Morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:31There are often times in our lives when we really, really,
- 0:35really need to ask for help and we just don't like to ask for
- 0:38help. We for one reason or another, we
- 0:41just hunker down into doing things by ourselves.
- 0:44And sometimes that becomes a habit and sometimes that be
- 0:47habit becomes something that it's really hard to break.
- 0:51And then it becomes more of a characteristic of ourselves and
- 0:57you know it, it affects us greatly overall.
- 1:00So how do you how do you handle that?
- 1:02And how do you know that that's really become something that is
- 1:06a habit more than something about like who you are as a
- 1:09person? I'm very guilty of this.
- 1:12I like to do things by myself, one, because organically I'm an
- 1:17only child. So it was very easy for me to,
- 1:20you know, hunker into, I got to figure this out on my own.
- 1:24I got to do this on my own. And often when I did ask for
- 1:27help, I asked the wrong people and ended up in a very
- 1:33precarious situation because sometimes when I did ask for
- 1:37help, it would create more of a problem because I would end up
- 1:40getting in arguments about, no, that's not what I asked.
- 1:43I just wanted this. And, and it just turned into
- 1:46something in my adult life as I grew where I figured, you know
- 1:49what? I'm better off doing this by
- 1:51myself. And I know there are a lot of
- 1:52people out there that feel that way as as strongly as I do.
- 1:56You're better off doing it by yourself.
- 1:58And there are times where I still agree with that.
- 2:00You have to go through things and you have to deal with them
- 2:03on your own. I realized that as I was
- 2:06building and, and have, and I am building this YouTube channel, I
- 2:11had started off and I said, oh, I need to have somebody come and
- 2:14shoot it for me because I can't figure out how to do it myself.
- 2:19And I was stubborn about it and I hired people and it didn't
- 2:22work out. And the videos they shot were
- 2:24terrible. And I then had to go and say,
- 2:27OK, I'm to shoot it myself. And I did it.
- 2:30And then I hired people to edit them.
- 2:31And then they were great in the beginning, but then they started
- 2:34to change and slack off. And it was something that was
- 2:37like, OK, well, that didn't work out.
- 2:39So I had to change that. And then I had to learn how to
- 2:42edit it. Now I can sit here and very
- 2:44optimistically say to you that over the course of all of this
- 2:47experience, I have been very blessed with the fact that now I
- 2:51have taught myself how to shoot. I have taught myself how to
- 2:54edit. I am not great at it by any
- 2:56stretch of the means, but I am way better than I, it was six
- 2:58months ago. And, and I had, I've had two
- 3:02videos on YouTube on shorts. I'm working on shorts only, no
- 3:05longs yet, but I've got them out there and they've gotten over
- 3:0920,000 views. One of them is almost 30,000
- 3:11views, which is huge for short and especially if it's 11
- 3:14seconds. So I'm, I'm learning all of it.
- 3:18But the point is I got into that and it reinforced my you have to
- 3:24do it by yourself. Now everything is a double edged
- 3:26sword. Yeah, I mean, I'm learning a lot
- 3:29and I'm enjoying it and I actually like editing now that
- 3:31I'm doing it and I actually enjoy figuring out little things
- 3:34to shoot and what I want to say and planning my content for the
- 3:39longs and everything else. I'm greatly enjoying it, but
- 3:43doing it by myself. Let's go back to that because
- 3:45this is where it comes down to, OK, you can't do everything by
- 3:49yourself. You have to segment parts of
- 3:52your business. You have to segment parts of
- 3:54your life. You have to decide.
- 3:56Like my daughter has recently decided that she just does not
- 3:59have time to go in the grocery store.
- 4:00And when she does go in the grocery store, it causes her so
- 4:04much stress because she ends up buying more than she intended.
- 4:08And they're on a budget. So what does she do?
- 4:12She's like, I have to just have them pack it up and I pull up or
- 4:15I do delivery because that way it keeps me out of there and
- 4:18keeps me buying extra things. And I agree.
- 4:21And that's not doing it all by yourself.
- 4:22And then it's there, you unpack it and you don't lose the two or
- 4:25three hours it takes to go buy things.
- 4:27But sometimes it doesn't work out that way.
- 4:30You know, you want to go buy your stuff, but we have to
- 4:33examine where we're willing to take help and where we're
- 4:36willing to say that's an old pattern.
- 4:39I don't want that pattern anymore.
- 4:41And then when we say no, I actually enjoy that.
- 4:43So as we're at the very beginning of the year, it is
- 4:47extremely advantageous to look and say, where am I doing things
- 4:52by myself that I really like doing by myself?
- 4:54Like you're not like if you knit, you're not going to, you
- 4:57know, all of a sudden say, oh, I'm going to.
- 4:59I still want the blanket, but I'm just going to give this task
- 5:01to someone else. Like that's silly, but there are
- 5:04other things that you can do and, and that's the point of
- 5:08saving time before the year even goes on.
- 5:10Save the time, figure it out. Look for where you can
- 5:14specifically farm things out, no pun intended, but get it off
- 5:18your plate so that you can say, OK, I have more time for the
- 5:22things I want and allow people to help you where you're
- 5:25comfortable with it. And, you know, push yourself
- 5:28sometimes to allow people to help you.
- 5:31It's always a good thing. All right, my friends, I hope
- 5:34you have a blessed day and I will see you tomorrow.
- 5:37Bye.
