- 0:00Speaker 1: Now the guardian Angel of talk radio is here. Curtis
- 0:05Speaker 1: Leewah guest host the Mark Simone Show on seven ten.
- 0:09Speaker 2: Woo, Well, well this is it last time around that
- 0:19Speaker 2: I'll be substituting here for Mark Simone's back on Monday
- 0:22Speaker 2: the fifth. But every time I come here, I meet
- 0:26Speaker 2: alumni from where I used to be WABC. Is he
- 0:31Speaker 2: the board up here crash so many others who fled
- 0:35Speaker 2: like refugees from a station that has become synonymous now
- 0:41Speaker 2: with always blaming Curtis for Zoronmandonmi being the mayor and
- 0:45Speaker 2: always bashing Curtis. But anyway, so is he patronizes me
- 0:51Speaker 2: this morning? Oh don't don't do that to me, please,
- 0:57Speaker 2: A very busy New Year's Eve, very busy New Year's dam.
- 1:01Speaker 2: I'm going to get into it momentarily, by the way,
- 1:04Speaker 2: you want to make a New Year's promise? Elected officials
- 1:11Speaker 2: at the MTA money taking Agency, the most inept of
- 1:16Speaker 2: the many state agencies in New York? How about cleaning
- 1:22Speaker 2: the subway cars, the number two, three, and number one
- 1:25Speaker 2: that are so thick with flotsam and jetsam dirt that
- 1:33Speaker 2: it was shameful that I had to explain to tourists
- 1:36Speaker 2: who were here in New York City why we can't
- 1:38Speaker 2: clean our subway cars. I mean filthy dirty. Oh no,
- 1:43Speaker 2: but you know our business here is just to raise
- 1:46Speaker 2: the fair and take more money and provide no service.
- 1:49Speaker 2: That's number one, number two our New Year's resolution from
- 1:56Speaker 2: the Sliwa family, we posted it. You look at all
- 1:59Speaker 2: my social network and just go to act Curtis Lee,
- 2:02Speaker 2: it's all there. And Nancy and I said we want
- 2:08Speaker 2: for New Years to be a time we're all stray
- 2:12Speaker 2: and shelter animals will have a loving home. And there
- 2:18Speaker 2: were people who attacked us for that. Yeah, yeah, yeah, haters, man,
- 2:22Speaker 2: they hate animals again. Mahatma Gandhi said, a society that
- 2:29Speaker 2: does not take care of its animals does not take
- 2:31Speaker 2: care of its people. How many homeless and emotionally disturbed
- 2:34Speaker 2: persons that I see today on the way to the
- 2:37Speaker 2: studios of wo or more that I could count on
- 2:40Speaker 2: my fingers and toes. Let that be said, And then
- 2:45Speaker 2: the hawk is talking out there. It's cold. I want
- 2:49Speaker 2: to give a shout out to the Guardian Angels because
- 2:53Speaker 2: they were at Coney Island yesterday for the annual Polar
- 2:57Speaker 2: Bear plunge, thousands on the beach who went running into
- 3:01Speaker 2: the surf, some of them suffering from exposure. But hey,
- 3:09Speaker 2: they were out there. I gotta tell you that they
- 3:14Speaker 2: were not talking politics. They were saying, the hawk is talking.
- 3:19Speaker 2: It is cold out here, and yet they made the
- 3:23Speaker 2: annual plunge. Meantime, we might as well play from all
- 3:30Speaker 2: the sad sack reports of the inauguration yesterday at City
- 3:34Speaker 2: Hall of Zorhan. You know, em, it's the end of
- 3:39Speaker 2: the world as we know it. Oh, it's over, My god.
- 3:44Speaker 2: How many months of a campaign did we have where
- 3:48Speaker 2: Zorhan was out there every day, every day? Right, He
- 3:53Speaker 2: whooped Cuomo in the primary, he beat me in Cuomo
- 3:57Speaker 2: in the general election. And yet people were shocked because
- 4:03Speaker 2: all of a sudden he gave a speech after he
- 4:07Speaker 2: took the oath on a Quran. Oh that's it, the
- 4:11Speaker 2: end of the world. We'll get into that momentarily. Some
- 4:15Speaker 2: of my friends were like freaking out, a Koran. You
- 4:18Speaker 2: know what that means, Curtis, Well, what does that mean?
- 4:20Speaker 2: Tell me, Well, let's get to what he actually said.
- 4:27Speaker 2: He said, I was elected as a democratic socialist and
- 4:31Speaker 2: I will govern as a democratic socialist. Shocking, right. He
- 4:35Speaker 2: said that every step of the way, all through the campaign,
- 4:38Speaker 2: were you not listening? Were you not listening? Well, let's
- 4:44Speaker 2: face it, most New Yorkers have no idea what a
- 4:47Speaker 2: communist is a socialist. If I took one hundred people
- 4:50Speaker 2: put them up along a wall, they have no idea.
- 4:53Speaker 2: A socialist is not a communist. Okay, It's almost like
- 4:57Speaker 2: I have to take everybody to school. And then naturally
- 5:01Speaker 2: when Bernie the out the Coca Sanders graduate of Madison
- 5:06Speaker 2: High School not far away sitting there, shiver me, Timbers,
- 5:10Speaker 2: was Chuck E Chees, Schumer, schmuck, the Putts who got
- 5:14Speaker 2: up halfway and left. He went to Madison High School.
- 5:18Speaker 2: I can run down a whole litany of people went
- 5:20Speaker 2: to Madison High School. What Bernie Brooklyn boy went to
- 5:24Speaker 2: Brooklyn College. You know the rest of the story. So
- 5:26Speaker 2: he swears him in on the frigid steps of city Hall,
- 5:30Speaker 2: and then the crowd start screaming tax, the ridge tax,
- 5:33Speaker 2: the ridge tax, the ridge. Isn't that what Zaran said?
- 5:38Speaker 2: All drink to campaign and said, he said, I don't
- 5:41Speaker 2: even believe there should be billionaires? Are you forgetting that?
- 5:48Speaker 2: People elected this guy on three issues, freeze, the rent
- 5:54Speaker 2: city buses, for free universal childcare right, and evengine all
- 5:59Speaker 2: of them yesterday. Now. Meantime, while everybody was determining that
- 6:05Speaker 2: this is it, it's over, people were like getting in
- 6:09Speaker 2: touch with me, and see, wait a second, I'm reading
- 6:12Speaker 2: the New York Post. Here it says that you made
- 6:15Speaker 2: a surprise appearance at Mandami's inaugural block party. That's right,
- 6:20Speaker 2: because I wasn't invited with the elites at city Hall.
- 6:24Speaker 2: I certainly wasn't invited like Eric Adams, who one moment
- 6:29Speaker 2: people may boom me, I don't know if I want
- 6:32Speaker 2: to be there. Oh god, what a crook. The best
- 6:36Speaker 2: thing about the dropping of the ball, I mean, the
- 6:40Speaker 2: absolute best thing was the way Andy Cohen went off
- 6:45Speaker 2: on him with Anderson there Anderson Cooper and just said,
- 6:52Speaker 2: get out of here, you cook, your corrupt, You're horrible.
- 6:55Speaker 2: I mean, he just went off. I thought we could
- 6:59Speaker 2: revive a game, you know, instead of the Wheel of Fortune,
- 7:02Speaker 2: you or by merv Griffin with Pat say Jack and
- 7:07Speaker 2: Van White. I think came about in seventy five, although
- 7:09Speaker 2: I think the first host correct me if I'm wrong,
- 7:11Speaker 2: was Chuck Woolry. I think could be wrong. I didn't
- 7:16Speaker 2: ask for you, is he man? Just stop patronizing me,
- 7:19Speaker 2: do me a favor.
- 7:20Speaker 3: Huh?
- 7:21Speaker 2: That really bothers me. And we could call it the
- 7:23Speaker 2: wheel of corruption. City Hall for sale under Eric Adams
- 7:29Speaker 2: as he left twenty nine indictments right of either members
- 7:36Speaker 2: of his administration, top aids, allies, donors, including himself, and
- 7:43Speaker 2: he's in moaning and going on and do nothing wrong. Well,
- 7:47Speaker 2: you know, I don't generally like Andy Cohen. Obviously he
- 7:51Speaker 2: had been bending his elbow, he was half in the bag.
- 7:55Speaker 2: But I give him the applause. Thank god. That is
- 7:58Speaker 2: the best thing getting rid of the crook Eric Adams.
- 8:04Speaker 2: And by the way, I warned everybody when I ran
- 8:06Speaker 2: against him at twenty twenty one is he You were there?
- 8:09Speaker 2: You remember at the time I said, this guy's a
- 8:11Speaker 2: crook and this guy is corrupt and we will have chaos.
- 8:18Speaker 2: Was that wrong? They had a survey on his way out.
- 8:22Speaker 2: It said zero percent of all those surveyed said he
- 8:26Speaker 2: did nothing good. I would give him, on one credit,
- 8:32Speaker 2: the best night light mayor we've ever had since Jimmy Walker,
- 8:36Speaker 2: because that's all he would do is go to a
- 8:38Speaker 2: nearby club to the break of dawn. It didn't matter
- 8:41Speaker 2: what burrow until four in the morning. Him and Jimmy
- 8:45Speaker 2: Walker had that. By the way, if you're watching any movies,
- 8:48Speaker 2: you watch the Bob Hope movie about the other corrupt
- 8:51Speaker 2: mayor Jimmy Walker. Really good performance, and that's the white
- 8:56Speaker 2: version of this swaggerman with no plan Eric Adams oofa.
- 9:01Speaker 2: That made me feel good. But then all of these
- 9:05Speaker 2: people saying, how come you went? How come you stood
- 9:08Speaker 2: in line with all the Zorinistas. Because I don't just
- 9:12Speaker 2: base what I say on what I hear in the
- 9:15Speaker 2: news or I see on TV or I scrolled to.
- 9:19Speaker 2: I like to be there in person. And so I
- 9:23Speaker 2: came out of the subway and I was online with
- 9:26Speaker 2: all the Zorinistas, you know, the people who elected Mandami Meyer,
- 9:32Speaker 2: not the elites at city Hall. And I waited my
- 9:35Speaker 2: turn to get in and watch. I was online at twelve.
- 9:39Speaker 2: Didn't get into that. What they called that, I guess
- 9:44Speaker 2: they said it was going to be a block party.
- 9:45Speaker 2: There was no no real party, poorly organized. I didn't
- 9:49Speaker 2: get in till two thirty, that's how long the lines were.
- 9:52Speaker 2: And oh boy, people were saying, how come all these
- 9:55Speaker 2: Zornistas were hide fiving you because they unders stud I'm
- 9:58Speaker 2: standing there out there with all you know, like a
- 10:02Speaker 2: real person, not up in the suites in the streets
- 10:07Speaker 2: like I always am, subways in streets and having a
- 10:09Speaker 2: lot of conversations all City and State. Was that they
- 10:12Speaker 2: can believe it, big article on the Wall Street Journal,
- 10:16Speaker 2: Q and A with me. You know at the end
- 10:18Speaker 2: of the year, if you get a chance, you gotta
- 10:20Speaker 2: read these really good But the main thing is I
- 10:25Speaker 2: was saying to uh, those who hates Zoron and a
- 10:29Speaker 2: lot of my fellow Republicans who are attacking. In fact,
- 10:32Speaker 2: this was some some of the really crazy stuff Curtis
- 10:38Speaker 2: to disease are On and his wife rom the night before.
- 10:41Speaker 2: You saw how they went down into that subway that's
- 10:44Speaker 2: underneath City Hall, the first subway ever created in a
- 10:47Speaker 2: vast subway system. That is really an architect who will
- 10:50Speaker 2: wonder he's got the terror courtA tiles, brash sand of
- 10:55Speaker 2: Lee is just say distinctly European appearance. I actually gave
- 11:00Speaker 2: him credit. Remember the other day, I said, Wow, if
- 11:03Speaker 2: I had been lucky enough to been elected mayor, I
- 11:05Speaker 2: would have never thought of that good, good idea. So
- 11:09Speaker 2: that's where he had his original swearing in Once the
- 11:12Speaker 2: ball dropped in Times Square? Do you know what's happened since?
- 11:15Speaker 2: People come up to me and they say, oh, man,
- 11:18Speaker 2: you know he got sworn in on the Koran. I said, yeah,
- 11:22Speaker 2: he's a Muslim. Did you you find that surprising? He
- 11:25Speaker 2: said that every day of the way. I think he
- 11:29Speaker 2: visited every mosque in the five boroughs. Surprise, surprise. Yeah.
- 11:34Speaker 2: But by him being sworn in down in that subway tunnel,
- 11:38Speaker 2: it was a secret message to Hamas that I got
- 11:43Speaker 2: your back, that I support you. I said, you really
- 11:46Speaker 2: believe that crap? Oh yeah, yeah, it's all subliminal. It's messaging.
- 11:51Speaker 2: I said, it's just a great location, a great venue.
- 11:55Speaker 2: Oh no, no, you don't. You don't understand critis. I said, well,
- 11:58Speaker 2: let me get back to this whole life of being
- 12:00Speaker 2: sworn in on a Qur'an. I said, you realize that
- 12:05Speaker 2: we've had presidents who are not sworn in on a Bible.
- 12:09Speaker 2: In fact, they weren't sworn on any religious book. I say,
- 12:15Speaker 2: what I remember. You folks out there can correct me
- 12:20Speaker 2: wrong if I'm wrong, because you know I will admit
- 12:23Speaker 2: when I'm wrong. I will fess up. When I mess up,
- 12:26Speaker 2: and feel free to do so, because that's really what
- 12:28Speaker 2: talk radio is. It's your turn to be heard. Eight
- 12:31Speaker 2: hundred three two one zero seven ten eight hundred three
- 12:35Speaker 2: two one zero seventy ten. If I remember from my
- 12:39Speaker 2: history lessons, Thomas Jefferson ever got sworn in as president
- 12:44Speaker 2: on a Bible. The guy who followed them, John Quincy Adams,
- 12:49Speaker 2: he believed separation of church and state. He got sworn
- 12:52Speaker 2: in on a book of laws. He refused to be
- 12:55Speaker 2: sworn in on a Bible. Franklin Pierce, another president, book
- 13:00Speaker 2: of lows. I'm not being sworn in on the Bible.
- 13:02Speaker 2: And Calvin Coolidge, one of our worst presidents, was a Puritan,
- 13:08Speaker 2: and he said, I'm not being sworn in on a Bible. Yeah.
- 13:12Speaker 2: But curtisiz's different. He was sworn in on a Koran.
- 13:18Speaker 2: He's a Muslim, and anybody voting for him not realize
- 13:21Speaker 2: he was a Muslim. Yeah yeah, yeah, but Curtige, this
- 13:27Speaker 2: is not right. I said, excuse me, do I not
- 13:32Speaker 2: remember a visit? And Johann Mandami took to the White House.
- 13:36Speaker 2: You remember that visit? Right?
- 13:38Speaker 3: Oh?
- 13:38Speaker 2: Man? Now, Cami Mandamie, I can't wait to take all
- 13:42Speaker 2: the money from the city. You can't be electing this guy,
- 13:46Speaker 2: this communist, right, Remember it wasn't Trump saying that like
- 13:49Speaker 2: every day. And then all of a sudden, I love fest.
- 13:54Speaker 2: A love fest was like Barney, I love you, you
- 13:57Speaker 2: love me. Oh, we're gonna be helping him. We agree
- 14:02Speaker 2: on a lot more than I thought. I think he'll
- 14:05Speaker 2: do a great job. I'd be comfortable living in New
- 14:09Speaker 2: York City with Mondamie is Maya who said that Donald Trump. Oh,
- 14:14Speaker 2: they're the best, They're the best. He's gonna be fine. Hey, Zo,
- 14:21Speaker 2: And you want to call me a fascist, don't worry,
- 14:24Speaker 2: call me a fascist. We got played ladies and gentlemen.
- 14:29Speaker 2: And so when I turned to Maga people and Republicans,
- 14:32Speaker 2: I say, you know, the president is embracing And by
- 14:34Speaker 2: the way, did the President put out a tweet on
- 14:37Speaker 2: truth social condemning Joan Mondami's swearing in by burning the
- 14:43Speaker 2: out the Coca Sanders with AOC they did? He No,
- 14:48Speaker 2: he's embraced the guy. Oh no, no, no. But there's
- 14:53Speaker 2: a strategy here, Curtis. You gotta understand that he's gonna
- 14:59Speaker 2: let or let his guard down. He doesn't really mean it.
- 15:03Speaker 2: What do you mean he doesn't really mean it. He
- 15:05Speaker 2: said it before the world. Oh you'll see, Curtis, Yeah, yeah,
- 15:11Speaker 2: yeah you you you gets like you keep believing that,
- 15:16Speaker 2: all right, you keep believing that the President said on
- 15:23Speaker 2: November twenty first, in the White House, with zor unstanding
- 15:26Speaker 2: right there, the better he does, the happier I am.
- 15:31Speaker 2: And by that, by the way, hours before that, the
- 15:35Speaker 2: House of Representatives had passed a resolution denouncing the horrors
- 15:40Speaker 2: of socialism. All the Republicans that you hear from here
- 15:44Speaker 2: at wor on other stations, and eighty six Democrats. So
- 15:49Speaker 2: you figured that zarn MONDAMMI was gonna catch a verbal
- 15:54Speaker 2: beat down, and in fact it was a love fest.
- 15:59Speaker 2: So ladies and jem don't get on my case. This
- 16:02Speaker 2: is what you do to respect the process, the change
- 16:06Speaker 2: of one party to another party, one political ideology to
- 16:12Speaker 2: another political ideology. That's what our American democracy is about.
- 16:20Speaker 2: So I didn't get invited to the inauguration. I just
- 16:25Speaker 2: showed up to the block party so I could share
- 16:28Speaker 2: some of my experiences with all of you and see
- 16:30Speaker 2: for myself. Because I challenge authority. I don't care if
- 16:35Speaker 2: it's Trump, Zorhan, Democrats, business leaders, cultural leaders. I don't
- 16:42Speaker 2: just repeat and regurgitate whatever I hear from the people
- 16:46Speaker 2: I like. I challenge authority, and there's nobody out there
- 16:51Speaker 2: who's gonna give you a better analysis of what took
- 16:53Speaker 2: place yesterday in the freezing cold. And by the way,
- 16:58Speaker 2: really didn't matter because most of the zoronista's young millennials
- 17:03Speaker 2: gen zas. If they had been older, oh boy, it
- 17:09Speaker 2: would have been ice cube hell. Our numbers one eight
- 17:13Speaker 2: hundred and three to one zero seventy ten. That's one
- 17:16Speaker 2: eight hundred three to one zero seven ten. While online
- 17:20Speaker 2: I was alerting all these Zorinistas that artificial intelligence is
- 17:26Speaker 2: coming for you. We're gonna talk about that later. I'm
- 17:29Speaker 2: gonna do my tribute to Bernard mcgirty that used to
- 17:32Speaker 2: do every year at WABC that they never do. I mean,
- 17:36Speaker 2: that was a radio guy. And we're gonna talk about
- 17:39Speaker 2: the crime of the century. Up next, Bitcoin cryptocurrency. I
- 17:46Speaker 2: call it crime coin and the biggest Ponzi scheme that
- 17:49Speaker 2: has ever existed in American history. And some of you
- 17:54Speaker 2: are being lured into it because Trump, who said it
- 17:56Speaker 2: was bitcrime at one time, then got all that money
- 18:00Speaker 2: from the crypto monsters. And now he's the number one
- 18:03Speaker 2: advocate of crime coin one eight hundred three two one
- 18:07Speaker 2: zero sevent ten.
- 18:09Speaker 1: Street Smart Straight Talk Curtis leewa guest host for Mark
- 18:14Speaker 1: Simone on sevent ten wo wor.
- 18:20Speaker 2: What I tell you is he stopped glazing me. Huh.
- 18:23Speaker 2: Don't patronize me, huh. Now I'm gonna teach everybody something
- 18:27Speaker 2: about crime coin aka bitcoin, the biggest Ponzi scheme ever.
- 18:33Speaker 2: Bernie Madoff, he can't touch this anyway. The other night
- 18:38Speaker 2: before New Year's Eve, before the ball dropped, they're running
- 18:41Speaker 2: across some of these young millennials. You know, they're all
- 18:44Speaker 2: in too bigcoin. You know they're financial advisors. So let
- 18:49Speaker 2: me ask you a question. Who created crime coin aka bitcoin?
- 18:54Speaker 2: I don't know. Sato Shi Nakamoto, Hi Hi Hi Doshi
- 19:00Speaker 2: na Kamoto. I didn't know that. You know, nobody ever
- 19:05Speaker 2: saw this guy. They claim he created this electronic care
- 19:09Speaker 2: system mind like one million bitcoin, and then all of
- 19:15Speaker 2: a sudden, nobody hears from them, nobody sees them. And
- 19:18Speaker 2: in twenty eleven, three years later, he goes, I moved
- 19:21Speaker 2: on to other things. Ha moved on to other things.
- 19:25Speaker 2: That's a racket. So he created this bitcoin and first
- 19:31Speaker 2: blockchain database that pave the way for cryptocurrency and what
- 19:37Speaker 2: I call a ponzi scheme. And right away the FBI
- 19:42Speaker 2: and interpoal were warning us that organize international crime is
- 19:47Speaker 2: gonna lawn the money through bitcoin and beware this wallet exploitation.
- 19:54Speaker 2: And so I'm talking to these folks and yeah, yeah,
- 19:58Speaker 2: but it's the coming way. Man. You can make a
- 20:00Speaker 2: lot of money. Ponzi schemes make a lot of money too.
- 20:04Speaker 2: Remember Bernie Madoff and Sam Blake Minfried. Remember the guy
- 20:10Speaker 2: who looked like he fell out of his bunk, that
- 20:13Speaker 2: FTX boy who is in prison, but no doubt he's
- 20:16Speaker 2: probably going to try to seek a pardon like the
- 20:19Speaker 2: guy who funded him into business originally. And this is
- 20:23Speaker 2: this is what's got my blood boiling. With Donald Trump now,
- 20:27Speaker 2: who at first used to call bitcoin crime coin. He
- 20:33Speaker 2: used to say it was a scam, it was a
- 20:35Speaker 2: Ponzi scheme. And all of a sudden he has become
- 20:38Speaker 2: the first crypto president. He's ended regulations, he launched a
- 20:43Speaker 2: trump Coin, He's linking crypto to the stock market world,
- 20:49Speaker 2: liberty financial Oh boy, well, all this money borrowing for
- 20:56Speaker 2: crypto and then there'll be a crash, and then everybody
- 21:00Speaker 2: will say that's what happens, it's a gamble on Wall Street. No, no, no,
- 21:07Speaker 2: there is a difference. It was this guy Jao who
- 21:12Speaker 2: actually put Sam bankmin Freed into business at FTX. He's
- 21:18Speaker 2: the richest man in crypto. He admitted to a federal
- 21:23Speaker 2: government that he did money laundering that allowed terrorists and
- 21:27Speaker 2: other criminals to move money on finance. They sent him
- 21:33Speaker 2: to jail, and guess who pardoned him, Donald Trump, the
- 21:39Speaker 2: crypto president who owns his own crypto empire with his family,
- 21:46Speaker 2: and it's now called what is that, liberty, liberty world, liberty,
- 21:51Speaker 2: financial outrage. Oh you can't say that. Yes, I can
- 21:58Speaker 2: come on. Any of you out there, know this is
- 22:01Speaker 2: a Ponzi scheme. People are gonna be lord in now
- 22:05Speaker 2: that the president and his family are all involved, and
- 22:09Speaker 2: you know they're giving their sanctifying it, and they're gonna
- 22:12Speaker 2: be investing money, and then the crypto criminals are gonna
- 22:16Speaker 2: rip them off. In fact, they're gonna use what they
- 22:20Speaker 2: call a wrench attack. The thief enters your house or
- 22:24Speaker 2: your place of business. It's like being hitting ahead with
- 22:27Speaker 2: a wrench until you give up the password. You know
- 22:30Speaker 2: what that is? You have any idea? Is he study
- 22:34Speaker 2: up on it? Because your generation is getting all geeked up?
- 22:37Speaker 2: You know, Oh yeah, bitcoin douche coin. Yeah, so these steams,
- 22:45Speaker 2: many of them degenerate gamblers because they're young, and you know,
- 22:48Speaker 2: they're on FANDU and they're gambling away money they don't have.
- 22:52Speaker 2: There's still millions from bitcoin users. They empty their crypto wallets,
- 23:00Speaker 2: lorder the money, and then they laugh about it. But
- 23:04Speaker 2: are you being told about that? Ladies and gentlemen, do
- 23:06Speaker 2: you ask about that? Do you challenge authority? Do you say,
- 23:10Speaker 2: why is the most powerful man in the world, the
- 23:12Speaker 2: President of the United States and his family, getting involved
- 23:19Speaker 2: in his business that appears to be by anyone looking
- 23:23Speaker 2: at it, a Ponzi scheme. Oh but you can't say that,
- 23:27Speaker 2: Yes I can. I'm an American citizen. I have a
- 23:30Speaker 2: right to challenge authority, as all of you should. And
- 23:34Speaker 2: when I'm giving the opportunity to do talk radio, I
- 23:36Speaker 2: don't do talk radio like everybody else. You know, they
- 23:39Speaker 2: get their talking points, whether they're on the left of
- 23:41Speaker 2: the right. God forbid, they actually question their gods. Zorhanmandami,
- 23:46Speaker 2: he's he's now you know he's going to a form
- 23:51Speaker 2: of idolatry, Donald Trump, idolatry. You dare question anything that
- 23:58Speaker 2: doesn't make sense? Oh you're a true Call me whatever
- 24:02Speaker 2: you want, because I am Curtis Leewa. And when he
- 24:07Speaker 2: doesn't sound right and it looks crooked, look at Eric Adams,
- 24:14Speaker 2: the most crooked mayor of all time. And I told
- 24:17Speaker 2: you about that when I ran against him in twenty
- 24:20Speaker 2: twenty one. And thank god Andy Cohen when the ball
- 24:24Speaker 2: dropped in Times Square reiterated that I get the hell
- 24:28Speaker 2: out of here Eric Adams. He has left a stain
- 24:33Speaker 2: on the soul of this city. And I told you
- 24:34Speaker 2: about that. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, Yeah, That's what
- 24:40Speaker 2: I'm on, dummy. I was elected as a democratic socialist
- 24:44Speaker 2: and I will govern as a democratic socialist. Isn't that
- 24:47Speaker 2: what He's at every step of the way. Shocked? And
- 24:51Speaker 2: the President has said nothing but it stole his virtues.
- 24:57Speaker 2: Wake up. I number's one eight hundred and three two
- 25:00Speaker 2: to one zero seven ten. That's one eight hundred three
- 25:02Speaker 2: two one zero seven ten. Talk Radio with Street Crack.
- 25:07Speaker 1: Literally Curtis Sliwad joined sevent ten w R to Guess
- 25:12Speaker 1: ohs from Mark Samo.
- 25:15Speaker 2: It's writing. You know, you have guests or callers. I
- 25:18Speaker 2: don't want them glazing me either, you know, patronizing me.
- 25:22Speaker 2: Really what you want as a guest who is an adversary?
- 25:25Speaker 2: And then you have a discussion likewise your callers, who
- 25:30Speaker 2: needs this Barney talk all the time? I love you,
- 25:33Speaker 2: you love me? You know. You go to MSNBC, it's
- 25:36Speaker 2: all the same people. It's like they're in their court,
- 25:39Speaker 2: acquire same thing Fox News Channel. The whole idea is
- 25:44Speaker 2: you get different points of view and you come to
- 25:47Speaker 2: your own conclusion. What's wrong with that? Oh no, it's
- 25:51Speaker 2: got to be all I love you, you love me.
- 25:53Speaker 2: Get out of here. That's that's not Curtis Sleeler. Anyway,
- 25:57Speaker 2: Let's go to the phones. First up, it's Jacqueline in Brooklyn,
- 26:02Speaker 2: your turn to be heard here on sevent ten WR.
- 26:06Speaker 4: Curtis, I just want to tell you from that other
- 26:09Speaker 4: station they censored me, going back to the month of
- 26:12Speaker 4: October when they started to ramp up their rhetoric against you.
- 26:17Speaker 4: I think you know who I am, and I was
- 26:20Speaker 4: one of your biggest cheerleaders, not only on that station
- 26:24Speaker 4: but everywhere. They would not take my calls. I tried
- 26:28Speaker 4: to point out to everyone. I did a deep dive
- 26:31Speaker 4: into the details of all of these so called polls,
- 26:36Speaker 4: and I explained to them how there was no way
- 26:39Speaker 4: that Cromo could ever win that election. And because of that,
- 26:42Speaker 4: they stopped taking my calls and I stopped listening to
- 26:45Speaker 4: that station.
- 26:45Speaker 2: Good good, Well, let me tell you, Jacqueline, for many
- 26:48Speaker 2: of you, and I know you're out there because you
- 26:50Speaker 2: come up to me all the time, You're texting me,
- 26:55Speaker 2: you're sending me emails, all of that. Good. Hey, you
- 26:58Speaker 2: don't need to go back to that Curtis stuff. You
- 27:02Speaker 2: stay right here seven ten w right, you got enough
- 27:06Speaker 2: good talk here to satisfy your needs. Don't be a
- 27:11Speaker 2: massive kiss and go back there. By the way, updates
- 27:13Speaker 2: when I do my tribute to Bernard mcgirta, they never
- 27:17Speaker 2: do a WABC any longer. Is that the guy in
- 27:20Speaker 2: the morning, you know, Sid Tessio. He's planning to move
- 27:25Speaker 2: to Florida. Oh yeah, yeah, they're hurts you a get
- 27:30Speaker 2: right there out of here. They're not gonna stay and fight. No, no, no, no,
- 27:34Speaker 2: they don't believe improved. Don't move. They want out. Look,
- 27:40Speaker 2: you're free to go. This is the greatness of America.
- 27:43Speaker 2: If you're not happy in our trach state area here
- 27:45Speaker 2: or anywhere you move around, it's called migration. It's what's
- 27:49Speaker 2: made America great. I don't fault any of you if
- 27:51Speaker 2: you do that. I've chosen no, no, no, no, I improve,
- 27:55Speaker 2: I don't move. I fight for what I know is right. Unsure.
- 27:58Speaker 2: I'm ondami is going to initiate, he ate something that
- 28:01Speaker 2: I'm in opposition to with others. It's to the barricades
- 28:04Speaker 2: right out of le me? Is that up to the barricades?
- 28:08Speaker 2: See got a place you can come. You don't need
- 28:12Speaker 2: to go to WABC, always bashing Curtis and obviously where
- 28:17Speaker 2: the talk show hosts and hostesses are all preparing to
- 28:23Speaker 2: abandon ship. Oh I know I have it on good authority.
- 28:28Speaker 2: Let's go to Russ, who's calling from White Plains. Your
- 28:32Speaker 2: turn to be heard here at WABC lost toys down there?
- 28:38Speaker 1: Did they not know that you sacrificed an Ivy League
- 28:41Speaker 1: education for freedom from Jackson Tis?
- 28:44Speaker 5: I mean, Curtis your crusader.
- 28:47Speaker 2: Oh stop placing me. Here's another one patronizing me. I
- 28:51Speaker 2: did not sacrifice an Ivy League education. Let's get the
- 28:56Speaker 2: record straight. I was going to Brooklyn Prep. I was
- 29:00Speaker 2: a senior there. Jesuit High School was the last year
- 29:04Speaker 2: they were open, seventy two. I was the student government president.
- 29:09Speaker 2: We took a plever site not to wear the jacketson ties,
- 29:13Speaker 2: which were part of the tradition. I tried to enforce
- 29:17Speaker 2: the plever site. The Jesuit's warned me, there will be
- 29:20Speaker 2: consequences for your actions. Why do you think your mom
- 29:23Speaker 2: and dad and other parents work so hard so their
- 29:27Speaker 2: kids can come and get a good Jesuit education. Part
- 29:30Speaker 2: of it is the discipline of wearing a jacket in tie.
- 29:33Speaker 2: But hey, as in the sixties the counter culture. Don't
- 29:37Speaker 2: trust anybody over thirty. Challenge authority, as I always thought.
- 29:42Speaker 2: But the best lesson that I ever got taught was
- 29:48Speaker 2: there are consequences for your actions. Uh. The headmaster was
- 29:55Speaker 2: a guy named Father Alexander. There was a prefect of discipline.
- 29:59Speaker 2: All hated me. They marched me to my locker. I
- 30:04Speaker 2: had a clearer out. I thought everybody else would join me,
- 30:08Speaker 2: right to a walk out. They looked at me as
- 30:11Speaker 2: if I was a member of the Leper college. And
- 30:13Speaker 2: I had never heard from any of them. And I
- 30:16Speaker 2: headed home to Canarsie, and I never looked back, never
- 30:21Speaker 2: looked back. Spent a few weeks in Canarsie High School,
- 30:25Speaker 2: pretty good local high school, but that was it. I
- 30:28Speaker 2: had it one out, started working. I was pumping gas,
- 30:34Speaker 2: packing shelves at NAP and A and P, and then
- 30:37Speaker 2: ended up going up to the Bronx, who I became
- 30:39Speaker 2: the night manager of Mickey D's and that's where I
- 30:41Speaker 2: started the Guardian Angels. So I never finished high school technically,
- 30:45Speaker 2: never got a GED. I did have a partial scholarship
- 30:50Speaker 2: that was being offered to me from Brown in Providence
- 30:54Speaker 2: because they had just set up an environmental studies program.
- 30:57Speaker 2: I had started some of the first resit kling centers
- 31:01Speaker 2: all over the country, although right there in Brooklyn, and
- 31:06Speaker 2: they wanted to give me a half scholarship, which I
- 31:08Speaker 2: probably would have taken if I graduated, but I my
- 31:16Speaker 2: decisions caused me to suffer the consequences. And this is
- 31:22Speaker 2: what you have to learn and teach your children and
- 31:25Speaker 2: grandchildren growing up. And sometimes you have to learn the
- 31:28Speaker 2: hard way. There are consequences for your actions, and that's
- 31:33Speaker 2: the way it should be. Let's go to Leonora's calling
- 31:37Speaker 2: from Connecticut. Your turn to be heard on what I
- 31:39Speaker 2: hope is your favorite station seven to ten wor Leoni.
- 31:45Speaker 6: It absolutely is, especially now that you're on it.
- 31:47Speaker 4: Curtis.
- 31:48Speaker 6: I just want you to know I checked out for
- 31:50Speaker 6: the holidays. I didn't know where you were when I.
- 31:53Speaker 5: Put on WR and there you are.
- 31:55Speaker 6: I freaked out. I can't believe it. I'm thrilled you're
- 31:58Speaker 6: here in Anybody who's who was pissed off that you
- 32:01Speaker 6: didn't drop out of that race can go spin because
- 32:04Speaker 6: anybody who knows you knows that you are not going
- 32:07Speaker 6: to back down. And I'm proud you didn't. Mndonmie was
- 32:10Speaker 6: gonna win no matter what. Cuomo was never gonna take it.
- 32:12Speaker 6: I don't care who was paying him or what was
- 32:14Speaker 6: going on. Mcdonmie was gonna take it.
- 32:17Speaker 4: And I am.
- 32:18Speaker 6: Proud you're on w O WAR and I'm so excited
- 32:20Speaker 6: to start my new year out this way. So keep
- 32:22Speaker 6: it going, Curtis.
- 32:23Speaker 2: All right, Well, remember remember Leonora. For everyone who's just
- 32:26Speaker 2: listening now, I'm only here upstanding for Mark Simon, the
- 32:29Speaker 2: best in the business. I mean, this guy's the smooth operator.
- 32:33Speaker 2: All right. I've worked side by side with Mark Simon.
- 32:37Speaker 2: I competed against Mark Simon. They were none better, none
- 32:41Speaker 2: better than in the business. And the person who is
- 32:44Speaker 2: jumping up and down looking forward to Mark's return on Monday.
- 32:48Speaker 2: The fifth is Greg Kelly over at WABC, because I'd
- 32:53Speaker 2: walk in. I'd walk into that studio. BB's sitting there
- 32:57Speaker 2: snacking off of Mark Simone's shows, taking all kinds of notes.
- 33:00Speaker 2: That's how we would do a show prep, which is
- 33:03Speaker 2: a pretty good idea, especially when you're like Greg Kelly
- 33:06Speaker 2: and you don't do any show prep, and you think
- 33:09Speaker 2: you could sit there for three hours and just do
- 33:11Speaker 2: a stream of consciousness. Now it doesn't work. So he'd
- 33:15Speaker 2: be taking notes, you know, like comedians would be stealing
- 33:20Speaker 2: lines from one another. By the way, we're gonna be
- 33:22Speaker 2: talking about AI in the next hour. Let me quantify it.
- 33:28Speaker 2: It's like Joe Biden. It's a plagiarism machine that steals
- 33:33Speaker 2: and plunders all kinds of information. So like comedians used
- 33:38Speaker 2: to steal from one another, and Greg Kelly steals from
- 33:42Speaker 2: the best in the business, Mark Siman. Not they're wrong
- 33:44Speaker 2: with Dad. I know you're listening now, Greg, You're disappointed
- 33:46Speaker 2: because you the kind of stuff I'm talking about. You
- 33:49Speaker 2: wouldn't be picking my pocket. But it's okay. Mark's coming
- 33:53Speaker 2: back on Monday. You'll have somebody to do your show
- 33:56Speaker 2: prep for you. Hup. Next, gotta pay tribute to one
- 34:05Speaker 2: of the greats. I know he's on every Monday with
- 34:09Speaker 2: Larry Mente Warner Wolf. Oh, what a great story about
- 34:14Speaker 2: Warner Wolf still kicking it down to Fort Myers. And
- 34:19Speaker 2: then the tribute to Bernard McGirt that they don't even
- 34:21Speaker 2: do a WABC any longer, I mean, the most loyal
- 34:26Speaker 2: person ever ever in this thing of ours radio Now.
- 34:33Speaker 1: More with New York's iconic straight shooter Curtis Leewah guest
- 34:38Speaker 1: hosting from Mark Simone on seven ten wo wo oh.
- 34:44Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 34:44Speaker 2: I look forward a Monday morning when Warner Wolf joins
- 34:48Speaker 2: Larry Minty as he does every Monday. I'm down there,
- 34:52Speaker 2: I think Fort Myers and Naples, Florida. I remember the
- 34:55Speaker 2: last I heard big time from Warner not him personally,
- 34:59Speaker 2: but scrolling through I saw the news that Warner Wolf
- 35:03Speaker 2: had decided to go out to the sign outside of
- 35:07Speaker 2: his home in an uh you know, a compound, a
- 35:11Speaker 2: gated community where it was a homeowner's association and take
- 35:15Speaker 2: down the sign plantation. He didn't want it thought that
- 35:18Speaker 2: they lived on a plantation. He didn't like the connotation,
- 35:23Speaker 2: and they locked him up, and he fought it and
- 35:27Speaker 2: asked Warner Wolf a great okay, let's go to the videotape. Well,
- 35:31Speaker 2: you need to know about Warner Wolf's He spent many
- 35:33Speaker 2: years with him at WABC. That was a tough job
- 35:37Speaker 2: getting him over there because he no longer was doing
- 35:41Speaker 2: sports on television. Tim McCarthy, who was our general manager
- 35:46Speaker 2: at the time, comes to me, I'm doing the morning
- 35:49Speaker 2: program with Ron Kooby, whose mommy is a coming. The
- 35:53Speaker 2: predecessor too, was zoron Mondomi. If you want to know
- 35:56Speaker 2: anything about zoraon Mondamie, he's Ron Koby. Except now you
- 36:03Speaker 2: could get elected. Maya saying that back then they'd want
- 36:05Speaker 2: to lock you up. But anyway, the point is, Tim
- 36:07Speaker 2: McCarthy says, I got a great addition in the morning show,
- 36:10Speaker 2: what a Wolf wants to do sports for you guys
- 36:14Speaker 2: in the morning. I said, Oh, man, he doesn't get
- 36:16Speaker 2: any better than that. Oh, Ron Cooby, Well he'll cut
- 36:19Speaker 2: into talk time, I said, trust me, Ron, people would
- 36:23Speaker 2: much rather listen to Warner Wolf than you and me,
- 36:26Speaker 2: because he doesn't just talk sports. He'll talk about whatever's
- 36:29Speaker 2: on his mind. I said, you know, Warner Wolf both
- 36:32Speaker 2: made his moons in radio before television. I said, his
- 36:37Speaker 2: parents were out in vaudeville. This guy's a great entertainer. No, no, no, Well,
- 36:42Speaker 2: eventually I was able to hold sway. Warner joined us.
- 36:47Speaker 2: What a great combination. And I will never forget one
- 36:49Speaker 2: of the greatest talk radio moments. He's describing how he
- 36:54Speaker 2: and his wife had gone on a tour of Europe
- 36:56Speaker 2: and I don't know if they were visiting Paris at
- 36:58Speaker 2: the time or Vienna. One of those balconies were Hitler,
- 37:03Speaker 2: after taking over the country with the Nazis, had come
- 37:05Speaker 2: out onto the balcony, and you know there were cheering
- 37:09Speaker 2: tens of thousands of Vshi or Nazi sympathizers. And Warner said,
- 37:17Speaker 2: I walked out towards the balcony. I could imagine Adolf
- 37:20Speaker 2: Hitler standing there, and I had a twenty two, and
- 37:26Speaker 2: I walked up behind him and I pulled the trigger
- 37:30Speaker 2: and I blew his brains out. I don't care if
- 37:34Speaker 2: they would have shot me dead right there his body.
- 37:37Speaker 2: I said, you actually says, yes, I've had that that
- 37:41Speaker 2: that thought when I was there with my wife and
- 37:44Speaker 2: I thought about him many times, if only somebody had
- 37:46Speaker 2: done that when this monster was rising up. Man, I
- 37:52Speaker 2: was riveting talk radio. It was so good. And then
- 37:59Speaker 2: of how, of course his emphasis on sports talking about
- 38:05Speaker 2: other issues of the day. I'll never forget. He's up
- 38:08Speaker 2: at a gym like fifty nine Street, Columbus Circle nearby.
- 38:12Speaker 2: He lived there, and he'd be working out in the
- 38:14Speaker 2: public gym and guess who would come in and work
- 38:16Speaker 2: out next one Madonna. Yeah. And the guy was like
- 38:22Speaker 2: a Germapholbe. He would never open up the bathroom with
- 38:27Speaker 2: his hands. You'd always have tissue paper and toilet paper
- 38:32Speaker 2: and you know, bounty towels, just like some of you
- 38:35Speaker 2: out there German folks. He would never talk on on
- 38:37Speaker 2: he doesn't touch it. And if I remember correctly, he
- 38:41Speaker 2: said I never drank water. It's like a drummondrry, you know,
- 38:44Speaker 2: a one hum camel never drank water. What a great personality.
- 38:49Speaker 2: Best thing that ever happened to me in radio was
- 38:52Speaker 2: bringing warn a Wolf on board, who, by the way,
- 38:54Speaker 2: remember I had been with Imus in the morning doing
- 38:57Speaker 2: sports when the World Trade Center was attacked on nine
- 39:03Speaker 2: to eleven, and they lived too far away, and he
- 39:07Speaker 2: gave great commentary as to what was transpiring. Unfortunately, too
- 39:16Speaker 2: many people never were exposed to warn a Wolf, not
- 39:20Speaker 2: only in terms of his great ability on television doing sports,
- 39:26Speaker 2: but how vaudevillian he was, what a great entertainer, what
- 39:29Speaker 2: great stories he can tell, which is everything that makes
- 39:33Speaker 2: radio great. It isn't just regurgitating what was in the news.
- 39:38Speaker 2: Anybody could do that. It's connecting the dots and relating
- 39:43Speaker 2: it to stories that not only you grew up with,
- 39:46Speaker 2: but maybe you were personally involved with. And the fact
- 39:52Speaker 2: that you can turn to wr and he won a
- 39:57Speaker 2: Wolf with Larry MENTI in the Morning is truly blessing
- 40:00Speaker 2: of talk radio because if you're listening to WABC always
- 40:05Speaker 2: bashing Curtis, you end up listening to the Eye and
- 40:09Speaker 2: Me guy. You know, Sid Rosenberg, it's all about him.
- 40:13Speaker 2: He thinks he knows everything about sports. At that time,
- 40:18Speaker 2: it was Warner Wolfe who was doing the sports on
- 40:20Speaker 2: the IMSS in the Morning show, and the guy who
- 40:23Speaker 2: made that show work was its executive producer, Bernard McGirk.
- 40:30Speaker 2: I will share with you some stories up next. I
- 40:32Speaker 2: do it. I did it every year when I was
- 40:34Speaker 2: at WABC, when he used to be always broadcasting Curtis,
- 40:38Speaker 2: because they didn't do it, which they should have. This
- 40:43Speaker 2: guy knew more about radio, the ins and outs. He
- 40:48Speaker 2: would be a CONSIGLIERI with the guests off, I miss
- 40:51Speaker 2: when Imus would blow up. He'd booked the guests. He'd
- 40:53Speaker 2: read the books. That's why he was a constant reader
- 40:58Speaker 2: of books. And he would speak to I miss in
- 41:01Speaker 2: the headphones, and I miss would repeat what Bernie said,
- 41:05Speaker 2: and then I Miss, in a break, would scream unmentionables
- 41:09Speaker 2: to Bernie and his staff. Oh yeah, yeah, you don't
- 41:11Speaker 2: want to go anywhere. A tribute to Bernard McGirt, one
- 41:16Speaker 2: of the great voices in all of talk radio.
- 41:20Speaker 1: Now the Red Beret has returned to radio. Curtis lee
- 41:25Speaker 1: Wall guest host The Mark Simone Show on seven Tenor.
- 41:33Speaker 2: Oh, I heard that update about Governor Schruell from a congresswoman.
- 41:40Speaker 2: She's going on a diner tour. Boy, nobody hears from
- 41:44Speaker 2: Jack Ciarelli any longer. Remember he was the big maga
- 41:48Speaker 2: trumper guy this time around, third time around, and her
- 41:52Speaker 2: whole campaign was affordably cost the living and he washed.
- 41:57Speaker 2: But you don't hear from him at all. I don't
- 41:59Speaker 2: know what he plans for doing. I've known Jack, there's
- 42:02Speaker 2: a good candidate. But the voters were interested in in
- 42:08Speaker 2: course of living affordability. That's what propelled Johann Mondamia New
- 42:14Speaker 2: York and in other races where Democrats beat Republicans around
- 42:20Speaker 2: the country and maywell end up determining the fate of
- 42:25Speaker 2: the House of Representative. You know, Trump, there was a
- 42:27Speaker 2: fake news, fake note. Now it's all about oh no
- 42:30Speaker 2: affordability courts OLIVI yeah, yeah, okay, get on board. But
- 42:34Speaker 2: it reminds me of a great radio figure who was
- 42:38Speaker 2: here from time to time, the King of talk radio,
- 42:40Speaker 2: Bob Grant. Yeah, he was here on two different occasions.
- 42:44Speaker 2: But when he was at WABC, was there. I was
- 42:46Speaker 2: at that time. There was the woman trying to become
- 42:51Speaker 2: governor there, Christine Todd Whittless. What the scratsiata what a shanda?
- 42:57Speaker 2: Remember she's the one who was the epa chieftess for
- 43:00Speaker 2: Bush forty three and in the aftermath of the attack
- 43:03Speaker 2: of nine to eleven said, oh, no toxins in the air.
- 43:07Speaker 2: You don't need gloves or masks or has matt suits
- 43:10Speaker 2: just inhal exhil. Look how many died, Look how many
- 43:14Speaker 2: still suffered. But anyway, at that time it was governor
- 43:20Speaker 2: of Florio, and Bob grand single handedly got her elected.
- 43:24Speaker 2: He coined the phrase Florio Free in ninety three. And
- 43:27Speaker 2: Florio was originally from Brooklyn. He worked in a butcher's shop,
- 43:31Speaker 2: joined the US Navy, and he was paving the way
- 43:35Speaker 2: for his reelection. He was raised in taxes and Bob
- 43:40Speaker 2: Grant took Christine Toddwitt lists of patrician by the hand,
- 43:44Speaker 2: took her on the bus tour from Camden County to
- 43:46Speaker 2: Hudson County. Of course, the stopover at his favorite haunt,
- 43:50Speaker 2: the Rio Diner in Woodbridge, New Jersey. We're at the time.
- 43:53Speaker 2: Guess who the mayor was, is he? Well, yeah, the
- 43:56Speaker 2: guy who just lost his attempted political cost come back
- 44:01Speaker 2: in Jersey City to become the mayor. As he addressed
- 44:06Speaker 2: a nation later on and said, I am a gay American.
- 44:10Speaker 2: You know that is yeah, like Como, he attempted to
- 44:14Speaker 2: come back. He was the mayor Woodbridge at the time.
- 44:18Speaker 2: Jim McGready. It was greed, greed, and he crashed in Burner,
- 44:25Speaker 2: Jersey City. But anyway, the point being is Bob Grant
- 44:29Speaker 2: single handedly took this woman and got her elected, and then,
- 44:33Speaker 2: in typical political fashion, she stuck the ship in his back,
- 44:38Speaker 2: came up, did an interview in the studios at WABC
- 44:41Speaker 2: at that time at two pen plasan Madison Square Garden.
- 44:45Speaker 2: Here's the guy who got her elected. And because people
- 44:49Speaker 2: were calling Bob Grant erasis, she chimed in, oh yeah,
- 44:54Speaker 2: she was stabbing him in the back. And Bob was
- 44:58Speaker 2: always respectful to his guests on the radio. You know,
- 45:02Speaker 2: he would rail against them when he was doing his commentaries,
- 45:07Speaker 2: but he was always respectful. I was there at the
- 45:09Speaker 2: station that day. It was a horrific political performance, and
- 45:15Speaker 2: you got to understand that you may be loyal to
- 45:18Speaker 2: certain politicians, it doesn't matter. They care only about themselves.
- 45:23Speaker 2: And that was clearly evidenced with Christine Todd Whitless, miserable Verson,
- 45:34Speaker 2: but she had no loyalty. The guy who did have loyalty,
- 45:41Speaker 2: it's the great Bernard McGirk. And I say great because
- 45:44Speaker 2: he earned it. His father was a bus driver, Irish
- 45:49Speaker 2: bus driver in the Bronx. His mother raised kids in
- 45:52Speaker 2: the Monroe housing projects and Soundview that's where Wesley Snipes
- 45:57Speaker 2: grew up. Yeah, Wesley, pay your taxes. I never did,
- 46:01Speaker 2: and many others who grew up there. But when you
- 46:04Speaker 2: were white, back then, you were the minority, and it
- 46:09Speaker 2: was a tough upbringing. But when I've been to the
- 46:12Speaker 2: Monroe projects and I speak to the elderly African American women,
- 46:16Speaker 2: many of them still living there, they would say Bernard
- 46:18Speaker 2: McGirk would walk around with books all the time. He'd
- 46:21Speaker 2: be reading books. He'd be teaching kids to read, even
- 46:24Speaker 2: the ones threatening him to give him a beat down.
- 46:26Speaker 2: And as you know, Bernard was a tough guy. It
- 46:30Speaker 2: was a Hayes man, went to Cardinal Hayes. I think
- 46:32Speaker 2: he went to Mount Saint Vincent up in Riverdale, then
- 46:35Speaker 2: left school, was driving livery cabs up in young because overnight,
- 46:40Speaker 2: you know how dangerous that is. Back then the Slobine projects,
- 46:45Speaker 2: Milford Gardens, thugs and then late and now you know
- 46:50Speaker 2: who's china hal at back then livery cabs, it's pimps,
- 46:54Speaker 2: it's prostitutes, it's John's, it's drug dealers, it's drug users
- 46:59Speaker 2: and drunks who are getting out of the bars along
- 47:01Speaker 2: McLean Avenue in the wee hours of the morning. And
- 47:04Speaker 2: it was tough. He talked to me about all the
- 47:06Speaker 2: times he got pissed, the whip guns to his head
- 47:08Speaker 2: Rob because back then it was cash and carry, and
- 47:13Speaker 2: then he fell into radio. It's one of the best
- 47:17Speaker 2: things that ever happened on radio. At some point he
- 47:21Speaker 2: hooked up with Imus, who had had his ups and
- 47:25Speaker 2: downs and was just a nasty guy. Nasty guy, but
- 47:32Speaker 2: he became the lynchpin, the flywheel, the one person who
- 47:38Speaker 2: was able to turn it around for don Imus, who
- 47:43Speaker 2: depended on which day it was, was probably in a
- 47:47Speaker 2: really bad mood if I remember correctly. There was i'mus
- 47:51Speaker 2: Charles McCord, his news guy, Rob Bartlett, Lou Raffino, who
- 47:58Speaker 2: is now said Roseen's wingman. If he hadn't gotten Lura
- 48:03Speaker 2: Fino here from w o WAL, I don't think sid
- 48:06Speaker 2: Rosenberg would have cut it. Once Bernard McGirk passed away,
- 48:10Speaker 2: we'll get into that momentarily. But by the time they
- 48:16Speaker 2: came to WABC, this is after that Scarlet Knight situation
- 48:21Speaker 2: with Rutgers, which I think occurred in about two thousand
- 48:25Speaker 2: and seven. All of a sudden, MSNBC canceled them because
- 48:30Speaker 2: they were simulcass and then WFA and canceled them. Fired
- 48:33Speaker 2: the imis fired Bernard McGirr kept the others on a
- 48:37Speaker 2: little bit, but let them go too, and they were
- 48:40Speaker 2: in a lurch. They were persona no grade. They had
- 48:44Speaker 2: a scarlet letter on them. They would called races, which,
- 48:47Speaker 2: let me tell you something, Bernard McGirr going up in
- 48:51Speaker 2: the projects with predominantly African Americans and Hispanics around him,
- 48:55Speaker 2: not far from the Soto Mayor Projects which used to
- 48:58Speaker 2: be the Bronxdale Projects renamed in her honor, near the
- 49:02Speaker 2: Bruckta in the heart of the South Bronx. He was
- 49:04Speaker 2: no racist. Probably the saddest moment that I experienced on
- 49:10Speaker 2: his behalf is that he was supposed to in two
- 49:14Speaker 2: thousand and seven be hired over at WRKO for the
- 49:19Speaker 2: morning program in Boston, and boy, they wanted him there
- 49:22Speaker 2: desperately because he would have been a perfect fit Irish
- 49:27Speaker 2: And remember he used to do used to do the
- 49:31Speaker 2: imitations of John and Cardinal o'conna and Cardinal Egan. You know,
- 49:35Speaker 2: you had that Federal Express envelope as like the cone
- 49:39Speaker 2: on his head. He was great with the Irish brogue
- 49:42Speaker 2: man and loved him in Boston. So there I am
- 49:49Speaker 2: in the studios a WRKO in Boston. I was leading
- 49:52Speaker 2: Guardian Angel patrols. Some black minister had said, don't come
- 49:56Speaker 2: to Boston because you're just asking to end up in
- 49:59Speaker 2: a body bag. It was high crime. The mayor was
- 50:02Speaker 2: opposed to it, and so here it was. They were
- 50:08Speaker 2: going to hire Bernard McGirk to be the co host
- 50:12Speaker 2: with the former Speaker of the crooked Boston excuse me,
- 50:17Speaker 2: Massachusetts Legislature, Tom Finneran, and then Alslom Shady Sharpton and
- 50:23Speaker 2: Barack Obama started working the phones to all the advertisers
- 50:28Speaker 2: and telling him, if you hire that racist Bernard McGirk,
- 50:32Speaker 2: we're going to launch a boycott. So when I got
- 50:36Speaker 2: there that morning, I said, hey, where's Burnie. Oh no, no, no,
- 50:40Speaker 2: they decided not to take him. Honest, but what that
- 50:42Speaker 2: would help you, Thomas? You know you're a politician. I
- 50:46Speaker 2: was honest with him. Politicians make horrible talk show hosts
- 50:49Speaker 2: because they always speak with a seven second soundbelt. They're
- 50:53Speaker 2: the worst. He goes, no, you're right, I needed Bernie.
- 50:57Speaker 2: So once again Bernard McGirk was off into the ABYSS,
- 51:01Speaker 2: labeled the racist. Meantime, unbeknownst to anybody, don Imus, who
- 51:08Speaker 2: represented his whole crew, because you paid Imus and then
- 51:11Speaker 2: he paid his crew, so you were subject to whatever
- 51:15Speaker 2: Imus said you had to do. He was meeting with
- 51:19Speaker 2: the Buckley family who owned WOR, this station seven ten
- 51:24Speaker 2: at the time, family owned station, and they were on
- 51:28Speaker 2: the cusp of hiring him. Now, remember the morning shows
- 51:30Speaker 2: there had either been gambling one, two, three, or programs
- 51:35Speaker 2: that sounded like the Gambling Show, you know, sound alikes,
- 51:41Speaker 2: So this would have been a major departure for them.
- 51:44Speaker 2: I don't know what happened, but negotiations broke down and
- 51:50Speaker 2: at that point WOR decided not to bring him into
- 51:53Speaker 2: the mornings. That's like halfway through twenty two thousand and seven.
- 52:00Speaker 2: And then towards the end of two thousand and seven,
- 52:02Speaker 2: what happens. WABC hires Imus in the morning and his
- 52:06Speaker 2: crew to replace Curtis and Cooby. They fired Kooby and
- 52:09Speaker 2: they put me in a box doing overnight radio and
- 52:12Speaker 2: that was syndicated across the nation. But they weren't gonna
- 52:16Speaker 2: let me go, and they say this, so wow. That
- 52:20Speaker 2: was all within a year, and every step of the way.
- 52:26Speaker 2: Bernard McGirk was loyal to Imus and loyal to the team.
- 52:32Speaker 2: Never told the stories. The horrific stories of how badly
- 52:35Speaker 2: i'mus treated him and all the members of his staff.
- 52:40Speaker 2: By the way, the executive producer, when you saw him
- 52:44Speaker 2: in the studio, he was feeding information to Imus. Bernard
- 52:48Speaker 2: would read the books, he would give them the questions
- 52:52Speaker 2: to ask. There were sometimes Imus was almost incoherent, and
- 52:58Speaker 2: Bernard McGirk would save the day whether Imus was off
- 53:00Speaker 2: in New Mexico and then eventually in Texas at Ranch whatever.
- 53:06Speaker 2: And then he had a wish at WABC. He wanted
- 53:09Speaker 2: to have his own show. He had earned it many
- 53:12Speaker 2: times over great talk show host and he said to
- 53:16Speaker 2: management and ownership, I want to be able to bring
- 53:18Speaker 2: up Sid Rosenberg from Florida, who was having a difficult time,
- 53:23Speaker 2: and he convinced him. He convinced them that yeah, this
- 53:27Speaker 2: could be a good show. I remember I went down
- 53:29Speaker 2: to Florida. I was hosting a Guardian Angel conference at
- 53:32Speaker 2: the hard Rock Casino in Hollywood, and I was asking
- 53:36Speaker 2: questions about Sid because he had just been fired in
- 53:39Speaker 2: another radio station. Assumed he had some of the same
- 53:41Speaker 2: problems he had before. He hadn't. I reported back to
- 53:47Speaker 2: ownership management and I told, man, you got it. You
- 53:50Speaker 2: got to bring Sid up because he wanted to hire
- 53:52Speaker 2: Mike Lupica, the sports writer at at the Daly News.
- 53:56Speaker 2: Great sports writer, but horrible talk show hosts. I'm a say,
- 54:00Speaker 2: convince them, you don't have to come into the station.
- 54:02Speaker 2: You could do it from your basement and New Canaan, Yeah,
- 54:05Speaker 2: just destroy the station even more, saying, God, they listen
- 54:07Speaker 2: to me. They brought Sid Rosenberg up. Sid was a
- 54:12Speaker 2: great addition. And then unfortunately Bernie and this is a
- 54:18Speaker 2: message to all of you to get to your menfolks
- 54:20Speaker 2: that never took that PSA test. A simple prick of
- 54:24Speaker 2: the finger, a simple prick of the finger. If he
- 54:28Speaker 2: had had that blood test, it's simple. I can assure
- 54:32Speaker 2: you he would not have died of frog state cancer
- 54:35Speaker 2: like so many men needlessly do because they don't get tested.
- 54:39Speaker 2: If you're forty five or older, you gotta get tested.
- 54:42Speaker 2: Women folk listening out there, you have the right to
- 54:45Speaker 2: nag them, be all over them, make sure they get
- 54:48Speaker 2: that test, because the toughest guys are the ones least
- 54:51Speaker 2: likely to take the test because they think, oh man,
- 54:54Speaker 2: it goes my manhood. You know, I'll have to be
- 54:57Speaker 2: using no longer the urino. I'll have to go into
- 55:00Speaker 2: this stall and do a squad in for us. That's nonsense.
- 55:03Speaker 2: I had stage four prostate cancer, but Bernie was old school.
- 55:10Speaker 2: And when we return, I'll tell you exactly what happened there.
- 55:15Speaker 2: For one year, this guy suffered and he had continued
- 55:19Speaker 2: to do talk radio while his partner Sid Rosenberg was
- 55:27Speaker 2: hoping that he would have a shot to do the
- 55:29Speaker 2: show on his own. You imagine that this guy who
- 55:34Speaker 2: had brought him, who said I want sit up here,
- 55:40Speaker 2: and all Sid was doing while Bertie was suffering, is
- 55:43Speaker 2: I could do this show on my own. Really, No,
- 55:48Speaker 2: you couldn't. No, you can't. And I'll give you the
- 55:51Speaker 2: rest of the real story as I do my homage
- 56:00Speaker 2: to a great all round figure and talk radio Bernard McGirk,
- 56:04Speaker 2: who should be honored on a regular basis for all
- 56:07Speaker 2: he put up with, all he did and what he
- 56:10Speaker 2: contributed to the thing of ours. One eight hundred three
- 56:15Speaker 2: two one zero seven ten. That's one eight hundred three
- 56:18Speaker 2: to two one zero seven ten.
- 56:20Speaker 1: Actual Curtis Sliwa guest host the Mark Simone Show on
- 56:24Speaker 1: seven ten War.
- 56:27Speaker 2: Every year. When I said WABC not my place to be,
- 56:32Speaker 2: you got to be listening to seven to ten War,
- 56:34Speaker 2: it is the voice in New York. Don't be a
- 56:38Speaker 2: Massachus and go back listening there because they don't do
- 56:41Speaker 2: these tributes to a guy who was so important to
- 56:46Speaker 2: radio in general, never mind WABC. So Bernard McGirk is
- 56:51Speaker 2: fighting to have his own program and without which I
- 56:56Speaker 2: Miss could not exist without Bernie as his executive producer.
- 56:59Speaker 2: So the deal is made. Burnie will continue to be
- 57:03Speaker 2: the executive producer for don I Miss in the Morning
- 57:05Speaker 2: six to ten, and they would replace Heraldo Rivera, who
- 57:11Speaker 2: was a prima donna at that time, never wanting to
- 57:13Speaker 2: come and do the show in the studio with the
- 57:17Speaker 2: new show Bernard McGirk and Sid Roseberg. Now everybody knew
- 57:20Speaker 2: Bernard McGirk, come on, he was on with O'Reilly remember
- 57:24Speaker 2: once a week before anybody really knew Gutfeld. Gutfeld now
- 57:28Speaker 2: everybody knows him, But Bernie carried that segment until Gutfeld
- 57:32Speaker 2: got his legs. So everybody knew Bernie, not everybody knew Sid.
- 57:40Speaker 2: But it was a great program because in twenty sixteen,
- 57:43Speaker 2: remember it was the election of Trump versus Hillary, and
- 57:46Speaker 2: Sid was truly a Hillary Rodham Clinton supporter, and as
- 57:51Speaker 2: you know, there was no bigger supporter of Donald Trump
- 57:56Speaker 2: than Bernard McGirk. So it's great to listen to them
- 57:58Speaker 2: back and forth. And then, as you know, Trump becomes president.
- 58:02Speaker 2: Hillary was still in a fetal position at the Jacob
- 58:05Speaker 2: Chavich Senna willing to accept the coronation, and they had
- 58:09Speaker 2: a teller every day for a month. No, no, Hillary,
- 58:11Speaker 2: You're not the president. And finally bring it back to
- 58:14Speaker 2: the Love Shack in Chappaqua, the whitest suburb in America
- 58:17Speaker 2: where even the launch jockeys are white. So now they're
- 58:22Speaker 2: moving along. They're doing mid mornings. Remember Bernie's still the
- 58:25Speaker 2: executive producer in the morning for don Imus, who is
- 58:28Speaker 2: losing it. I mean, you could tell. And then finally
- 58:32Speaker 2: they determined that it's time for Imus to ride into
- 58:36Speaker 2: the sunset. That's it, he's retiring. I think it was
- 58:40Speaker 2: in twenty eighteen. And so now it's Sid and Bernie
- 58:45Speaker 2: in the morning. But Bernie's the bus driver. Bernie did
- 58:48Speaker 2: all the show prep. Bernie is getting cuts, Bernie is
- 58:51Speaker 2: working hard like he always worked. He was the executive
- 58:55Speaker 2: producer and obviously the host, the go to hosts and said,
- 59:00Speaker 2: you could tell there was like resistance, resistance It's like
- 59:03Speaker 2: Sid wanted to talk sports, okay a little bit of that,
- 59:06Speaker 2: and naturally all about himself, and he'll tell you, oh, look,
- 59:10Speaker 2: I'm paranoid, I'm insecure, I'm neurotic. But he had to
- 59:16Speaker 2: tell you things about himself. Quite frankly, they weren't all
- 59:19Speaker 2: that interesting. But Bernard would do the reading, do the research,
- 59:24Speaker 2: and help do a really good morning program. But unfortunately
- 59:29Speaker 2: he did not pay attention to the warning signs that
- 59:31Speaker 2: maybe some of you guys are having out there. And
- 59:33Speaker 2: I beg you, I beseech you, as somebody who at
- 59:36Speaker 2: stage four prostate cancer, get the simple prick of the finger,
- 59:40Speaker 2: the blood test. That's all it is, because if you don't,
- 59:45Speaker 2: you might end up like Bernard McGirk and so many
- 59:47Speaker 2: others that you knew. There was nobody healthier than Bernard mcgirky,
- 59:50Speaker 2: lived in Long Beach, his wife, has two children. He'd
- 59:53Speaker 2: be on the board walk there riding his bicycle, healthy diet,
- 59:58Speaker 2: It wasn't better shape than any of us. In fact,
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: in the lockdown and pandemic, I'll never forget the image
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: of Bernard McGirt coming off the Long Island railroad, dressed
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: like Lawrence of the Arabia with a shive in his
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: hand because all the emotionally disturbing and homeless people had
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: taken over Penn Station. I know we and the Guardian
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: Angels were caring for him, and I would see I
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: would see Bernard emerge. Man, you didn't want to mess
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: with Bernard McGirt. He was prepared, but he was gonna
- 1:00:26Speaker 2: get to that station and it was a great team.
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: In the morning, now everybody recommended to him, Bernie, Bernie,
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: you better go talk to Curtison Studio B because he
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: was I'm not feeling well, and Bernie started to tell
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: me what his symptoms were, and I kind of understood
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: it was prostate cancer, having been through the ordeal myself.
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: Luckily I survived. He didn't. He had not gotten a
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: PSA test. He had to go home and at times
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: do the broadcast from home laying down on the bed
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: parallel to the ceiling. Wow, there's cancer metastasized. I think
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: he went into his liver and then his brain and
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: then by twenty twenty two, unfortunately Bernard McGirk is dead.
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: They had a nice commemorative mass in Saint Patrick's Cathedral
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: and we all got a chance to speak on behalf
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: of Bernie and the many fans who had grown up
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: listening to Bernard McGirk filled Saint Patrick's Cathedral. People went
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: out to his wake in Long Beach, including at the
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: time the Mayor of the City of New York, Eric Adams,
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: who always used to tell Bernie, and I tell Bernie,
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: he's pulling your shorts. Oh this is my favorite morning show.
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: Meantime you knew it was Charlemagne. That god right, they
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: tell the mighty whities. Yeah, you're my favorite show. You
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: and said, meantime, he's listening to Charlemagne.
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: Guy.
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: He went all the way out there, and Bernie's father,
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: just like Bernie, looked at Eric Adams because he was
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: sitting up in the front, and he said, what are
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: you doing here? Looking for votes? And everybody busted out
- 1:02:16Speaker 2: laughing because they knew what that was about. But the
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: fact was that Sid was having a tough time carrying
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: this program. It really was. People were used to Bernie.
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: They wanted Bernie. Obviously he could no longer do it.
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: So the suits, the owners of WABC, said he needs
- 1:02:33Speaker 2: a partner right away. They came to me because I've
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: not morning shows. I mean, you name it have done
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: him many times with Lisa Angels in the morning with
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: Ron Coolby, done a lot of morning shot and Nope,
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: not I. This guy does not want a partner. It
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: is clear he's a diva. He thinks the show should
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: be all about him. And so they tried Andrew Giuliani,
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: who was a rookie. I had him in the talk
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: radio boot camp there along with others like Dominic Carter
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: and others, and he was learning. And then one morning
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: he's on with SID and they get into an argument about,
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: of all things, former New York Yankee Paul O'Neill of
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: no consequence to the argument, and Sid uses that is
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: the excuse. I don't want him here anymore. He never
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: wanted a partner to begin with. Big mistake. And then
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: thankfully they brought over from here wr the former Border
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: operator and great contributor Lou Raffino, who became SID swingman.
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: But I will tell you the show at times she
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: can't listen. It's all about said, I mean, you know,
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: my whole life. Who cares? And then October seventh hit
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: the attack against all the Israelis and others in the
- 1:03:56Speaker 2: southern end of Israel thousand two hundred killed, two hundred
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: and fifty kidnapped, and said he would never really been
- 1:04:06Speaker 2: in tune with his Jewish roots, would always complain to
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: wish I had been born as supreme Cushine, He'll omit it.
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: Suddenly discovered his Jewish roots, and I may have created
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: the monster that he is now. And I dubbed him
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: King David the Second because now on almost any morning
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: you tune in, he's either talking about a Jewish event,
- 1:04:27Speaker 2: he went to a Jewish event, it's giving him an
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: honor Israel, BB Israel, anything related to the Jews, And
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: I'm saying to myself, you know, there's more to this
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: world than just Israel and Jews. I created a monster,
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: There's no doubt about it. But he got so self
- 1:04:46Speaker 2: absorbed you would think that he would bless his lucky stars,
- 1:04:53Speaker 2: that he would look high in the sky to Hashem
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: and say, man, I I'm telling you, I would not
- 1:04:59Speaker 2: be here if we went out for Bernie McGirk. I
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: would not be here. If Bernie McGirk had not said
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: his opportunity, which he could have handled solo, he said,
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: I want to do this show would sit and it
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: was a great show, especially when they first came together
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: in twenty sixteen, said a true supporter of Hillary Rodham Clinton,
- 1:05:19Speaker 2: although he doesn't like to talk about it now. And
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: the ultimate trumper before there was MAGA was Bernald McGirk.
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: So on that note, even though they won't do it
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: at WABC, I do it every year no matter where
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: I am, because if we don't honor all of those
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: who made this thing of ours possible, shame on us.
- 1:05:46Speaker 2: You just don't understand how much abuse Bernard McGirk was
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: subjected to by Don Imus. How he kept that team together.
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: He was the consiglieri. Imus was out of control, Charles McCord,
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: Rob Bartlett, Litu Rafino, all the others. He would be
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: the ones. No, no, no, I'll get control of him.
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: He would do all the show prep, he would read
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: the books, he would feed don EMSs the lines. Did
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: don ever acknowledge that, of course not? It's it ever
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: acknowledge that, of course not. And all Bernard McGirk wanted
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: to do with his own program, Let's be the bus
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: driver and do all the heavy lifting and all the
- 1:06:31Speaker 2: work that's necessary. Two hours of preparation is required for
- 1:06:36Speaker 2: one hour talk radio. If you're good, If you're just
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: repeating what you heard the night before. Anybody can do that,
- 1:06:46Speaker 2: so to a WOR audience that may not have ever
- 1:06:49Speaker 2: really experienced the greatness of Bernard McGirk. He so mightily
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: contributed to this thing of ours and suffered in so
- 1:06:59Speaker 2: many ways. It's important for us to acknowledge him each
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: and every day. Our number is one eight hundred and
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: three two one zero seven ten. This is WOR seven ten,
- 1:07:11Speaker 2: the Voice of New York, and it should be if
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: you haven't listened before, your newfound station, the Pulse of
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: New York. Now on the Voice of New York.
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: Curtis Sleewald guess host marks them all on seven ten WOR.
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: As we go to the phones, because it's your turn
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: to be heard. What should be your talk radio station
- 1:07:37Speaker 2: seven to ten WOR the Voice of New York. It
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: certainly is in the Slieber family. Now, and don't be
- 1:07:42Speaker 2: a massacres and go back to WABC, always blaming Curtis
- 1:07:48Speaker 2: for Zara Mandamian, always bashing Curtis. I mean, that's what
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: they do. Let's go to the phones if we can,
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: and first up in the queue is Diane, who is
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: calling from Summit. You're turning to be heard here on
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: seven to ten wor Diane.
- 1:08:05Speaker 7: Oh, thank you Curtis. I'm so grateful to speak with you.
- 1:08:09Speaker 7: I cannot tell you have thrive of them with emotion.
- 1:08:13Speaker 7: I am. I'm grateful to speak with you. I love
- 1:08:18Speaker 7: to listen to you, and what you did speaking of
- 1:08:22Speaker 7: Bernhard was so touching. However, I don't want to speak
- 1:08:27Speaker 7: in an emotional fashion. I have a few quick comments
- 1:08:32Speaker 7: to make. It was terribly disturbing, disgraceful and disappointing that
- 1:08:38Speaker 7: the previous aw place you worked this you know, regarding you,
- 1:08:47Speaker 7: that spoke about you after you've been such a royal person.
- 1:08:53Speaker 7: I listened to you regularly. You are you would have
- 1:08:58Speaker 7: good best menure. Okay, you are very intelligence codus. I
- 1:09:04Speaker 7: really speak to my heart when I tell you how
- 1:09:07Speaker 7: much I admire you. I'm trying to be so emotional.
- 1:09:12Speaker 2: No no, no, no, no no, no, you have you have a
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: right to be emotional again. Feel free speaking.
- 1:09:20Speaker 7: I'm speaking for the community. I'm speaking for many people.
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: Right but I want to want to focus not so
- 1:09:27Speaker 2: much on me. I'm still alive and well, at least
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: I think for today. With all the people would love
- 1:09:35Speaker 2: to kill me that's been my history. It's okay, So
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: I love that edm song bunt oh. I enjoy I
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: enjoy this day, another day of life. It's the best
- 1:09:48Speaker 2: day of my life. It is because I'm alive. I
- 1:09:52Speaker 2: have the best wife you could ever have, Nancy. I
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: have our cats, and I have so many people who've
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: gone up listening to me for thirty five years in
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: talk radio, and all the people that I've reached out
- 1:10:03Speaker 2: and touched all over the world. No, no, this is
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: the tribute to Bernard McGirk who was not here. And
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: if you want to honor Bernard McGirk as I do
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: every year, as you should do, the way you can
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: do it every day is to warn men forty five
- 1:10:21Speaker 2: and older to get that simple prick of the finger
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: that psa blood test that saves lives. I had stage
- 1:10:28Speaker 2: four prostate cancer. You hear from doctor Gil lead him
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: in often after other doctors have not done well for
- 1:10:37Speaker 2: their patients. He oftentimes can patch people up and give
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: them life where they would have normally had a horrendous
- 1:10:45Speaker 2: death like Bernard mcgirth did. So keep that in mind.
- 1:10:50Speaker 2: That's how you honor the memory of Bernard McGirk. To
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: make sure that doesn't happen to other men. A simple
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: blood test and he would still be alive. He was
- 1:10:58Speaker 2: the healthiest of all of us over there at WABC.
- 1:11:02Speaker 2: Let's go if we can with Chris Is calling from
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: Beth Page. Your turn to be heard. He had seven
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: to ten wor Chris Take Curtis.
- 1:11:11Speaker 5: I used to listen to and call you a lot
- 1:11:13Speaker 5: on your on the other station, obviously, and I love you.
- 1:11:16Speaker 5: You're great, But I have to push back on a
- 1:11:19Speaker 5: couple of things if you don't, if you will, let me.
- 1:11:21Speaker 5: First of all, I listen to Sid all the time.
- 1:11:24Speaker 5: He used to have you on like five days a week.
- 1:11:26Speaker 5: These guys were the best together. I don't know what
- 1:11:28Speaker 5: the heck happened, And to this day Sib will even say,
- 1:11:31Speaker 5: he goes, I love Curtis. I'm not, you know, I'm
- 1:11:34Speaker 5: sorry that this election got between you guys. It's it's
- 1:11:37Speaker 5: just it's lunacy to me that this has happened. You
- 1:11:41Speaker 5: and Sid were tremendous.
- 1:11:42Speaker 2: Well, you have to understand. You have to understand that
- 1:11:45Speaker 2: all when he was saying that, Tessio, remember the godfather
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: whoever arranged the meeting is the trader. That's Sid who
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: all along was contacting people to for Cuomo, encouraging people
- 1:12:03Speaker 2: to jump from my campaign to the Cuomo campaign. Look,
- 1:12:07Speaker 2: I have all the evidence, There's no doubt about it.
- 1:12:10Speaker 2: He had had five lunches, five dinners with Andrew Cmo.
- 1:12:14Speaker 2: What's he having dinner for? That's how Andrew Cuomo Andrew
- 1:12:18Speaker 2: evilized operated. I knew that Sid is a novice to politics.
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: He never dealt with politics before. He is a sports guy,
- 1:12:28Speaker 2: and then he became a CuMo sexual big time, oh
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: big time. And the reason that I was on five
- 1:12:36Speaker 2: times a week is I would not ever consider being
- 1:12:39Speaker 2: his partner because he needs one, He desperately needs one.
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: Lua Fino does a great job as his wingman. The
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: board operator was great with Imus. That keeps him a
- 1:12:48Speaker 2: little more focused. But when he got rid of Andrew
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: Giuliani was trying, you can't see you can't disagree with's Sid.
- 1:12:58Speaker 2: Now I could, because obviously I have more cred I'm older,
- 1:13:02Speaker 2: I have more experience than Sid. They but others couldn't.
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: You couldn't. So I got on once a week and
- 1:13:09Speaker 2: then they said, well do it twice a week, three
- 1:13:11Speaker 2: times a week, four times a week, five times a week.
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: No problem. He needed that. I didn't mind doing the
- 1:13:18Speaker 2: extra radio. But does Barney talk? You know, sit in friends?
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: I love you, you love me? And then, my god,
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: you can predict what the program is each and every day.
- 1:13:32Speaker 2: I can tell all of you. If Bernard McGirk had
- 1:13:36Speaker 2: survived as prostate cancer like luckily I had Stage four,
- 1:13:41Speaker 2: what happened at WABC, to me would never have happened.
- 1:13:45Speaker 2: Bernard McGirk a man of honor. You couldn't be any
- 1:13:49Speaker 2: more loyal than Bernard. Look at all those years with Imus.
- 1:13:52Speaker 2: Look at all those years he kept that's that program together.
- 1:13:57Speaker 2: Look at all those years that he would be beaten
- 1:14:00Speaker 2: down each and every day by Imus, who is a monster.
- 1:14:05Speaker 2: And then he'd be the one to rally Charles McCord
- 1:14:08Speaker 2: and Rob Bartlett and Lou Rafino and the other contributors
- 1:14:14Speaker 2: and say, no, no, no, let's let's let's focus for
- 1:14:16Speaker 2: another day. And he would do all the heavy lifting.
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: He would do all the show prep, just like he
- 1:14:21Speaker 2: did for the brand new show. Bernard McGirk and Sid Roseberg.
- 1:14:25Speaker 2: Let's sit he now he thought he didn't need anybody.
- 1:14:29Speaker 2: He does. You can't just do an I and ME show.
- 1:14:35Speaker 2: You gotta do the work, and not just with your friends.
- 1:14:37Speaker 2: You have to deal with your foes. Let's go if
- 1:14:41Speaker 2: we can to Bob, who's calling from Perth? Hand boy?
- 1:14:44Speaker 2: Your turn to be heard here on seven ten wor Bobby.
- 1:14:50Speaker 3: Good morning courtage. How are you, sir? Happy New Year?
- 1:14:53Speaker 3: Do you too, sir?
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: Oh, thank you, thank you. It's been greater. I've had
- 1:14:56Speaker 2: a two week run here substituting for the best and
- 1:14:59Speaker 2: talk creator Mark Sebone, and can't get any better than that.
- 1:15:05Speaker 3: And I also know a good friend of yours that
- 1:15:08Speaker 3: used to do Elvison personader there the Elvis, Paul Daniels.
- 1:15:15Speaker 2: Oh, yes, Paul lifelong and a good Polish American too,
- 1:15:20Speaker 2: I my.
- 1:15:20Speaker 3: Add, absolutely yes, he is definitely well. Anyway, I want
- 1:15:24Speaker 3: to say, what is uh the airplane, the helicopter, pilot
- 1:15:31Speaker 3: and hook Who're gonna do at the outer bridge?
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: Which?
- 1:15:36Speaker 3: Uh you know how how bad that is? They fixed
- 1:15:39Speaker 3: every other thing, but they can't fix the outer bridge.
- 1:15:42Speaker 2: Out of bridge crossing. How many people over the years
- 1:15:47Speaker 2: have done the hop skipping the jump? You know what
- 1:15:50Speaker 2: that is? Is he they start out in Brooklyn, they
- 1:15:54Speaker 2: cross the Arizona, they go to the south shore of
- 1:15:56Speaker 2: Staten Island. Then across the outer Bridge crossing, go down
- 1:16:00Speaker 2: to Manalapan the Jersey Shore. Next stop might be Pennsylvania, Florida, Georgia, Texas, Tennessee,
- 1:16:07Speaker 2: parts unknown. It all starts with the outer Bridge crossing.
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: Are you are right? Oh, let me tell you something.
- 1:16:18Speaker 2: I just want you to keep that focus. I know
- 1:16:21Speaker 2: there are many many callers blazing away there, blazing away.
- 1:16:25Speaker 2: Please at the start of the new year, sink back
- 1:16:30Speaker 2: to all the greats in this thing of ours that
- 1:16:32Speaker 2: we love so much talk radio, from Barry Gray to
- 1:16:37Speaker 2: Bob Grant, to Barry Farbard and Samuels to Bernard McGirk,
- 1:16:44Speaker 2: all the people who paved the way. None of them, though,
- 1:16:49Speaker 2: suffered like Bernard McGirk suffered. You just have no idea
- 1:16:54Speaker 2: what it was like to be in the imus cage
- 1:16:57Speaker 2: in the morning. He had a deal with that monster,
- 1:17:03Speaker 2: and then he had to prepare the show, he had
- 1:17:06Speaker 2: to keep don I miss going. And then when his
- 1:17:08Speaker 2: dream came.
- 1:17:09Speaker 8: True, instead of saying what so many in our business, well, no, no, no, no,
- 1:17:12Speaker 8: I want to do it my own, he said, I
- 1:17:14Speaker 8: want to bring up my friend sid Rose Murty from Florida,
- 1:17:17Speaker 8: who had lost every job down there and hadjust been
- 1:17:20Speaker 8: fired from another radio station.
- 1:17:21Speaker 2: I don't know why, but they were a great partnership.
- 1:17:25Speaker 2: Twenty sixteen. Sid was for Hillary really legitimately, and Bernald
- 1:17:34Speaker 2: McGirk was a Trumper before many became Trumpers. And then
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: when Sid thought it could be his own, watch out
- 1:17:45Speaker 2: the long knives come out. Oh by the way, he's
- 1:17:48Speaker 2: planning to move to Florida. Now, Oh yeah, he lives
- 1:17:51Speaker 2: out there in the Irish Riviera. He's ready to sell
- 1:17:53Speaker 2: this house. Hey, look, God bless all of you out there.
- 1:17:56Speaker 2: If you don't want to stay in the land of
- 1:17:58Speaker 2: mon Damie, I get it. That's what America is about.
- 1:18:02Speaker 2: You get to move to the places you want to go,
- 1:18:04Speaker 2: But don't pretend you're gonna stay and fight for what
- 1:18:07Speaker 2: you know is right. Improve don't move. You gotta prove it.
- 1:18:13Speaker 2: You gotta be a man of honor. You come into
- 1:18:15Speaker 2: this world with nothing, you go out with nothing. God
- 1:18:19Speaker 2: bless Bernard McGirk. He lived as a man of honor.
- 1:18:25Speaker 2: He died as a man of honor.
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: The voice that fights for New York Literally Curtis Leewad
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: guest hos for Mark Simone on sevent tenor.
- 1:18:39Speaker 2: As we move into this new year, the big talk
- 1:18:43Speaker 2: is going to be about artificial intelligence. Was back in
- 1:18:46Speaker 2: twenty fifteen that the masters of the universe, the billionaires
- 1:18:50Speaker 2: Elon Musk and Sam Altman, who owned open ai, said
- 1:18:55Speaker 2: we can't control this, thaying AI it releases demons. Now
- 1:19:01Speaker 2: they don't care because they're making millions billions of dollars.
- 1:19:05Speaker 2: People are gonna be wiped out, they're gonna lose their
- 1:19:08Speaker 2: employment salesforce. Amazon already said we don't need you anymore.
- 1:19:13Speaker 2: We got artificial intelligence. Yeah, and then they're gonna have
- 1:19:17Speaker 2: to build these massive data centers, which requires double the
- 1:19:22Speaker 2: amount of electricity that we have now where we're gonna
- 1:19:25Speaker 2: get that from and lots of water, and it's gonna
- 1:19:28Speaker 2: be put in neighborhoods near you. And software companies they're
- 1:19:33Speaker 2: gonna use AI to write code. They're not gonna need
- 1:19:38Speaker 2: people to do it. They got a white college job.
- 1:19:40Speaker 2: You lived the American dream, you went four years of
- 1:19:43Speaker 2: college education, you came out, you're CPA. You know you're
- 1:19:48Speaker 2: a financial analyst, you're a lawyer. Hey, lawyers are using
- 1:19:51Speaker 2: it to draft legal breach. They're not gonna need you,
- 1:19:55Speaker 2: and they don't want to slow it down because the
- 1:19:57Speaker 2: masters of the universe, I'm making money hand over fist.
- 1:20:03Speaker 2: You're not regularly gonna hear people talking about that. Just
- 1:20:07Speaker 2: keep that in mind, do your research, think for yourself,
- 1:20:10Speaker 2: challenge authority, and oh bye. By the way, you know,
- 1:20:14Speaker 2: the person who's gonna be happiest at Mark Simone is
- 1:20:16Speaker 2: back on Monday. It's gonna be Greg Kelly, a WABC.
- 1:20:21Speaker 2: That guy. He's been tortured for like two weeks because
- 1:20:25Speaker 2: he did all of his show prep by listening to
- 1:20:27Speaker 2: the best in talk radio, Mark Simone. And you should too.
