- 0:01The people have spoken. That's something I don't think I
- 0:04would take a chance of. In my opinion, 218 strikeouts
- 0:08were a guy who was his third year in the league.
- 0:10Now that's a lot of strikeouts. And they're here to deliver.
- 0:15He wants to be on a competitor, period.
- 0:18Bringing you the facts. Jose brings trash man.
- 0:22I fell for that hard. While keeping you up to date,
- 0:26man, like what a like question mark that is after you leave
- 0:29Cole, you get him out of the game and all of a sudden you
- 0:32don't know what you're going to get on the other side on all
- 0:34fantasy baseball news. There's a slouch, man.
- 0:38He's just a a potential. He's a slug dark horse, winner
- 0:42of a Cy Young candidate. Welcome to Bourbon Involved.
- 0:46Averaged like 160 strikeouts prior to his breakout year.
- 0:49I don't even call that breakout year.
- 0:50I would call that a career year because I don't think you have
- 0:53another year. We're going to talk about a lot
- 0:55more baseball. This is just the beginning guys.
- 0:57That's right. I'll call a belt in it.
- 1:01So look, man, come down here. All right, guys, we're at
- 1:17there's a 45th show right here, second season in bourbon and
- 1:20ball. I'm your your Co host Doug,
- 1:23along with my buddy Dan in Clearwater, FL over there.
- 1:25Mikey V. This is bourbon and ball, man.
- 1:28So, yeah, you know, we've been doing fantasy baseball now for
- 1:33over around 20 years. We've been doing.
- 1:36Our league in particular is, you know, hit the head points league
- 1:40with ESPN that we've been doing. And we decided why not create a
- 1:44show that takes away a lot of the negativity and some of these
- 1:48groups, you know, you can post a trade or say, hey, I got this
- 1:51guy and you know, people just like I got trash, horrible
- 1:54trade, you're an idiot, blah, blah, blah.
- 1:55We don't do that. We give you the facts, We give
- 1:57you the numbers and you make your own decision whatever way
- 2:00you want to. Do you want to overpay for
- 2:01somebody, You overpay for them. If you don't, whatever you don't
- 2:04want to, you know. So we decided to create Bourbon
- 2:07Evolved. So we talked fantasy baseball
- 2:09while I think I, I'm the only one today sipping, sipping
- 2:13bourbon out of the bourbon involved class, which is the
- 2:18first sip is always the the kicker, you know?
- 2:22Yeah. So we're on NBR radio.
- 2:24We're on Patriot Radio. We're also on Roku.
- 2:31You can catch us simulcast on New England streaming sports on
- 2:35Saturdays. This episode will re air there
- 2:38from noon to to two. So a lot of good stuff going on
- 2:42man, and a lot of military affiliation on top of that.
- 2:45So of course for for me, I was a paratrooper in the Army for 6
- 2:49plus years. I got jumps in Ireland, Germany,
- 2:51the Netherlands and a combat tour in Afghanistan and all of
- 2:552012. Yeah, my father was in the Air
- 2:58Force during the Vietnam War and my grandfather was a paramedic
- 3:03during World War 2. So a lot of a lot of family ties
- 3:05there. Good stuff, man.
- 3:07All right, well, we have a man. We have a ton of stuff to go
- 3:12over again. It has been a wild week.
- 3:15It has been a wild week of injuries, a wild week of
- 3:18craziness. Yeah, man.
- 3:22Let's just jump jump right into around the league.
- 3:26Go. Go yeah, what do I?
- 3:31Let me. Start out with this, all right,
- 3:34Kansas City Royals, they're all right, right?
- 3:37They're kind of like 500 team in my opinion.
- 3:41Well, they went to Sunday's game against the Orioles hitting a
- 3:44Major League low, just eighteen home runs in their first 34
- 3:47games. So eighteen home runs in 34
- 3:49games is in team. All right, You have players
- 3:52right now who have 10 or 11. I mean, Corbin Carroll's got 10,
- 3:56you know, so 18 as a team is kind of kind of wild.
- 4:00But going into Sunday's game against against Baltimore and
- 4:06this happened. So here's the clip.
- 4:07Take a look at this. Slider hit high in the air, deep
- 4:12to left field. Cursed at, drifts back up
- 4:14against the fans. It's out of here, the pitch.
- 4:18India drills it high in the air, deep to left field, cursed ass
- 4:20to the track. He turns around, it's gone.
- 4:24And now Michael Garcia, home run #2 and the game is tied again in
- 4:31the air, left field and deep, cursed at is at the wall.
- 4:35And that is home run #4 for the Royals.
- 4:40And now Vinny strokes it into right center field.
- 4:43No way. Unbelievable deep left field
- 4:50solo home run #10 today and it's Luke Maley in the air to right
- 4:56field. Back it goes.
- 4:59That is a franchise record seven home runs for the Royals.
- 5:04So you go from hitting 18 and 34 games to seven and just one.
- 5:11So they went off, right? I mean, they looked like there
- 5:15there was AT ball out there. They had AT set up, you had
- 5:19Malik Garcia hit two, you had Jonathan India, Luke Nailey,
- 5:23Bobby Wood, Junior, Vinnie P who was on our BI located 2 weeks
- 5:28ago really turned it around in my opinion and Michael Massey.
- 5:31So they won the game 11 to 6. Now here's the real question
- 5:34when it comes to this. OK, and this is just my opinion,
- 5:37but that game right there tells me more of how bad Baltimore's
- 5:41pitching has been than how good Kansas City's offense has been,
- 5:46right? Baltimore now 13 and 23.
- 5:50Nothing to write home about, in my opinion.
- 5:53They're on the verge of a waste season.
- 5:56You know, give them another month and there's no way they
- 6:00could claw back out of that. I don't know.
- 6:03I mean, what's your take on them?
- 6:04You think they still have a chance in the East?
- 6:06It's it's packed. Do you think they have a chance
- 6:08of wild card? I mean, what it's, it's tough.
- 6:13They're they're in a danger zone in my opinion, for sure.
- 6:16Their pitching has been atrocious this year.
- 6:18We've been talking about it almost week in, week out.
- 6:20Really just need to go out and get a guy.
- 6:22And we thought they just probably needed one guy.
- 6:24You know, we talked, you know, speculated Sandy early on and
- 6:28obviously that hasn't happened. He hasn't been moved yet or
- 6:31anything like that. But they need more than just one
- 6:33pitcher here, Doug. I think they need multiple
- 6:35pictures for sure. And and you know, on the flip
- 6:38side, too, though, to proceed to Kansas City to stop popping off
- 6:41like they did in that game. It only takes game for a team to
- 6:44get it together. I mean, we don't know if this is
- 6:46the right formula for the Royals yet.
- 6:48It's very early and they're all very young too.
- 6:50Still, that whole team is, you know, obviously Bobby Witch, the
- 6:54centerpiece, you know, Benny P is kind of like the number two
- 6:58guy in my opinion, in that lineup.
- 7:00My Carl Garcia also gets a lot of respect in my opinion, both
- 7:03defensively and offensively. So there's a lot to see in
- 7:07Kansas City and they're, like I said, they're young.
- 7:09So it takes a little bit of time in the gel get it together.
- 7:13And you're not seeing that from Baltimore right now.
- 7:16I think they might need a managerial change.
- 7:18I think they need a fresh face. And then maybe in that dugout,
- 7:21you know, there's a ton of talent.
- 7:22We know there's a ton of talent. Maybe that's the change they
- 7:25need to make. You know, we just saw Texas
- 7:27change the hitting coach, Texas playing a little bit better
- 7:30baseball right now. We'll see.
- 7:33But at the same time, I know it's only May 9th but I think
- 7:37they are in the danger zone. Yeah, no, I, I, I totally agree.
- 7:42I mean, I, I obviously I think the Royals, the central is not a
- 7:46great division anyways, you know, so.
- 7:50It's it's competitive. It's competitive, but.
- 7:52It's competitive because they're all like none of them just like
- 7:56just work their way to the top. They're all just mediocre teams,
- 8:00every single one of. Them So I think if the season
- 8:02ended today, because I was looking this morning, there's
- 8:04three AO essential teams right now that have 23 wins.
- 8:09That puts them about four games above 500.
- 8:11And you know, I looked at the Red Sox right now, they're A500
- 8:14team. They're like 20 and 19.
- 8:16I think I looked this morning or 19 and 20, something like that.
- 8:20It's very early still, but they're it's it, they're clawing
- 8:23up there. They're it's a very interesting
- 8:24division. I think you said it's easy to
- 8:26pick apart, but if you're good in that division then you're
- 8:28going to get a couple extra wins because you play those couple
- 8:31dumps to buy a teams we'd like to talk about.
- 8:33Yeah, and and I mean, you nail it with Baltimore, maybe there's
- 8:38a a pitching coach or a change or a hitting coach or maybe the
- 8:41the head coach, right. But to me, and we talked about
- 8:45this weeks ago, right? You go out, you lose your, your,
- 8:50the, the head, the head of your starting pitching, You know, you
- 8:53lose what? What's his face?
- 8:57Corbett, Bryce. Rodriguez.
- 8:59And Grayson Rodriguez, so you know, you're losing those two
- 9:02guys. You losing Anthony Sendaiere,
- 9:04who, you know, obviously he's not having the best season in
- 9:07Toronto, but who's to say he, you know, that that would
- 9:10translate into if he stayed with Baltimore, right?
- 9:13To me, I think Baltimore's lineup is a little better than
- 9:18Toronto's. So you lose, you're losing 3
- 9:21guy, 3 pretty key guy. You're losing it 40 home run, 41
- 9:26home runs. You're losing someone who had
- 9:29what what was it? Was it like 16 and three?
- 9:31His ERA was not over a three. It was a 291.
- 9:34I don't have for a bat, right. And then you're losing a Gracie
- 9:37Rodriguez who very similar, you know, a lot of strikeouts ERA
- 9:41around that low three. That's a lot, a lot of people to
- 9:45bank, you know, and you didn't do anything to fill him.
- 9:49You did absolutely nothing to fill those voids.
- 9:52Not only that, you also lost Austin Hayes, who is coming back
- 9:57and he's he's actually Kansas City to me, great sleeper team,
- 10:01man great. They're doing a real Terry
- 10:04Francona. I mean, what he could do to a
- 10:06franchise. We've seen it.
- 10:07We've seen it with when he took over with the Indians or the
- 10:10Guardians, whatever you want to call him.
- 10:12He's doing it with the Reds. Very talented team.
- 10:16I like them. But again, you know, you're
- 10:18losing Austin Hedge, you're losing Anthony Sander, you lost,
- 10:21you know, Grayson Rodriguez on the IL.
- 10:24You don't know when he's really coming back yet.
- 10:26Corbin Burns is gone and you do nothing to replace these guys.
- 10:30Nothing. And you rely on your younger
- 10:33generation, which is fine, but to rely on like three of them at
- 10:37the same time, that's going to kill you.
- 10:39That is going to even in fantasy, right?
- 10:41It's like, oh wow, you know, we can, I, you can live starting
- 10:46one of those rookies, right? That you don't know what you're
- 10:48going to get. You can live with starting one
- 10:50of them in your lineup and the fantasy lineup.
- 10:52But once you start 2-3 or four of them and they don't produce,
- 10:56I mean, you're they're going to crush you in the fantasy world.
- 10:59Same thing in baseball. You have a lineup now that is
- 11:04they're they're really relying on their young stars and they're
- 11:08just not producing and they're dragging them down.
- 11:11They really are. I mean, there's no other way to
- 11:13say it. So what do they need to do?
- 11:16I mean, listen, if if a month goes by and they're still 10
- 11:20games under under 500, I hate to say it, but I write them off.
- 11:24I really do. I don't see them coming back up
- 11:26from the AL East. And and like you said, I mean,
- 11:31you got that wild card. They're either going to come
- 11:33from the East or they're going to come from the Central.
- 11:35So if you're not going to be competitive in the East, chances
- 11:39are you're not going to make the play offs.
- 11:40That's just how it is. It's going to be close.
- 11:43It's going to be it's going to be close.
- 11:44It's that the whole AL wild card situation, I think it's going to
- 11:48be a race to the end. There'll be multiple teams in
- 11:50it, but man, they need something now.
- 11:53Like that's the problem with Baltimore.
- 11:55They need it now and they're not going to.
- 11:58They need like. This weekend, man, they need
- 12:00like this weekend. I don't know if it's like a make
- 12:02or break weekend for them or not, but I feel like if it's not
- 12:04this weekend, you know, by the time we get the next weekend,
- 12:07it's almost a make or break depending on how they do.
- 12:10So they you know, it, it's now it's, it's, it's like very
- 12:13immediate. So that's why I say, you know, I
- 12:15don't know if the, you know, the right move is the the manager.
- 12:19You know, I think he didn't, he just win coach of the year like
- 12:22a couple years ago or a year ago.
- 12:24So it's kind of tough to write a guy like that off right away,
- 12:27but you got you might have to do something like that.
- 12:30Look, you only have the small window like we talked about last
- 12:34week with these middle small market teams and they got the
- 12:37talent. So you need someone in that
- 12:39dugout and it's got to be the right move to to unlock that
- 12:43talent and and how to to play together on a day-to-day basis,
- 12:47162 games. Like you just said, the Reds got
- 12:50Terry Francona fantastic, you know, very young team, very
- 12:53experienced guy, been there, done that.
- 12:56Now he's going to, you know, manage this team and I think
- 12:58they're going to be very good the whole year.
- 12:59The Reds. So maybe Baltimore used to look
- 13:02into something like that as well, where they bring in
- 13:04someone that's a a veteran experienced guy.
- 13:06Been there kind of done that type of personality.
- 13:09Like even like in Detroit, where you have the old Astros manager
- 13:14there, I can't think of his name right now, but he he was, you
- 13:17know, one World Series with them.
- 13:18And now, now you got a young team in Detroit with a very
- 13:21experienced manager. So maybe that's something
- 13:24Baltimore needs to consider, at least moving forward.
- 13:27That's true. And to me, I mean, an easy fix
- 13:30would have been, hey, listen, we lost Anthony, Sandy Air, why
- 13:34don't we go out and get a JD Martinez?
- 13:36You know, why don't we go and get a veteran bat?
- 13:38It is a young line up and they don't have a veteran bat, right?
- 13:41I can't really think of anybody that's really a veteran, veteran
- 13:43bat. You know, you have seasoned
- 13:46bats. You have a couple guys that have
- 13:47been in the league for maybe five years.
- 13:49But I'm trying to think like from top to top to bottom, there
- 13:52isn't that veteran bat that's been in the league for like 10
- 13:55plus years. They don't have that.
- 13:57I don't think there is. I'm I'm trying to I'm thinking
- 14:00but I can't think of anyone. So that tell, I mean, they why
- 14:03not get a cheat, You know, JD Martinez, who was capable like
- 14:07obviously now you bring him in, get him up to speed.
- 14:11You're talking about you're a month away, you know, maybe a
- 14:13month and a half, all depends what he's been doing this
- 14:15offseason. Is he really going to help you
- 14:18at that point? You know, is that just going to
- 14:20be wasted money because you're just totally out of it?
- 14:23I don't know. I think it was something that
- 14:24they probably should have done earlier in the year, that's all.
- 14:27I think they just need a new manager.
- 14:28I think I'd rather the new manager over JD Martinez.
- 14:31I think that's they need a fresh face, fresh voice.
- 14:35Yeah, that's true. I I mean, it'll like I said, you
- 14:40nailed it too. They need to turn around.
- 14:42They need to do it this weekend. So it'll be interesting to see
- 14:46what happens. I, I, you know, I know they're,
- 14:48I don't know, maybe they're just saying, hey, listen, let's, we,
- 14:51we get Kyle Bradish back. Let's just, you know, kind of
- 14:54coast this year and then next year go full ramp, you know,
- 14:57ramp it up full speed. Bradish.
- 14:59We'll should be able to get a big workload.
- 15:01You know, we'll give him should be back at the All Star break.
- 15:04We'll give him that half year to figure it out.
- 15:06Start next year fresh. Same thing with, with, you know,
- 15:10Grayson, right? We'll, we'll start him fresh
- 15:12next year, then we'll start to splurge in the free Asian
- 15:15market. Maybe that's the plan.
- 15:16I don't know. I don't think it's a good plan
- 15:18because who wants to who wants to have a wasted year a month
- 15:21into the season? I don't know.
- 15:24Nobody does. But it is an interesting topic
- 15:28to talk about for sure, man. You know, it's competitive.
- 15:32The East is competitive, very competitive.
- 15:35I think This is why it's one of my favorite segments because we
- 15:38dive deep, you know, we just, we dive right into it.
- 15:41We just talk ball. This is all we're doing.
- 15:43We're just talking some ball here.
- 15:44And the the next one, though, is the next topic on here is is for
- 15:48me, it's it's hilarious. This is the most ridiculous
- 15:50thing you've ever seen. It is similar to Jose Canseco.
- 15:55You could even look at Major League the movie.
- 15:57And this is almost a clip right out of Major League itself.
- 16:01All right, so the White Sox on Tuesday hit another all all time
- 16:05low against Kansas City, believe it or not.
- 16:10So they were up three to one in the 9th, right?
- 16:15Three to one in the ninth. And then this happens.
- 16:19And here's the clip. Canna is going to be safe for
- 16:32second base. The White Sox have played great
- 16:39defense all night and that was a routine big league pop up,
- 16:48wasn't it? It sure was, and he struggled.
- 16:50Look at you can. Tell he's struggling with it
- 16:52now. The wind is not blowing like it
- 16:53did earlier. Look at it.
- 16:55Look. At my drop he he just totally
- 16:59whipped it and. Taylor Stroll was only They had
- 17:02a force play. Watch them see what is Oh man
- 17:05off the glove and off the Dome and say oh man, what happened.
- 17:11Man, so they end up going and they lose the game.
- 17:15Yeah, what are you going to? Do you know?
- 17:19I mean, listen, I know they're bad.
- 17:22We, we knew there was they, they were going to be horrible.
- 17:24You know, Luis Robert is a little better this year.
- 17:28You know, five home runs, fifteen stolen bases, still
- 17:31giving you 2A start in fantasy in our points league anyways,
- 17:35but still not good. You know, I mean, Sean Burke,
- 17:38he's been all right. He's 2 and 4 for them as a
- 17:41rookie. It's it's bad, but I think that
- 17:46made it worse for some apparent reason.
- 17:49You you want to talk about, like I said, I mean, that's that's
- 17:51Jose Canseco, that's Major League the movie all in one clip
- 17:56if I've ever seen it before. It's wild.
- 17:58That's it. That was a wild clip.
- 18:00I don't know if you were watching baseball that night or
- 18:02not, but that was a rough night for a lot of different teams.
- 18:05They were. They were.
- 18:06They blew a 9th inning lead to the Kansas City and lost.
- 18:12I think it was the Padres, Yankees too that night.
- 18:16That was the Dylan C start that night too.
- 18:18That went. To.
- 18:20And you know, like that was a crazy night of baseball.
- 18:23Actually, I think it was like Tuesday or Wednesday.
- 18:25But it was it was crazy. But that mean, I think I was
- 18:28watching the other broadcast because this guy didn't say he
- 18:31was just having a good time with it.
- 18:32For sure. Holy moly.
- 18:33I was just laughing with him. That was the first time I've
- 18:35heard that. But the other announcing crew,
- 18:38they're a little bit more sympathetic.
- 18:39It was probably the Chicago broadcast and even the the
- 18:43broadcaster said he's like, this guy's going to be on blooper
- 18:47reels for the rest of his life. And I thought about it for a
- 18:51second and I'm like, man, he probably is because I you just
- 18:57filled the clip. They just said his name several
- 18:59times. I even forgot what his name was
- 19:01already. But I do remember that play
- 19:04because it was funny. Like it's like, it's tough
- 19:07because like, it's it, you're going into the season already as
- 19:10a White Sox player, it's going to be tough.
- 19:13The whole team's going to be tough.
- 19:14The whole season's going to be tough.
- 19:16You know, and this is like exactly what you thought was
- 19:20going to happen to a White Sox team.
- 19:22Like it is to have those type of plays happen.
- 19:25So hey, it is what it is. You know, I feel bad for the guy
- 19:30because, you know, he didn't do it intentionally, obviously, but
- 19:34you know, we just live in a a world now that we just laugh at
- 19:36everyone. So we're going to we're going
- 19:40to, you know, so it's just it is what it is.
- 19:43But the White Sox from a fantasy, you know, level,
- 19:46because we're probably not going to talk about the White Sox
- 19:47anymore after this. Like you said, Luis Robert, I
- 19:52think he he might get moved. He's probably the guy that will
- 19:55probably get moved this year. There's a lot of rumors last
- 19:57year. Now he's actually producing.
- 19:59He's stealing a lot more bases. He's starting to run a lot.
- 20:02And most importantly, knock on Wood, he's staying healthy.
- 20:06So that's a huge plus right now. So if I was the White Sox, I
- 20:10would try to cash in as soon as you can because I don't think
- 20:13there's a better time to sell a guy right now than Louise
- 20:17Robert, a healthy Louise Robert that is producing because you
- 20:19hadn't seen a lot of that in recent history.
- 20:24But really else, there's no one else that sticks out to me.
- 20:28I mean, if you look in deeper leagues and like dynasty
- 20:30leagues, keep an eye on Kyle Teal.
- 20:34He hasn't been crushing it down in AAA there.
- 20:36But he's, you know, he's playing.
- 20:38They're going to probably bring him up eventually.
- 20:40So I think that's probably the only fantasy relevance I would
- 20:43bring into the the White Sox realm.
- 20:45You mentioned Sean Burke, but even, you know, so like a great
- 20:49White Sox pitcher is like #8 on, you know, someone else's team.
- 20:53I feel like right now he just has.
- 20:55I haven't built that trust yet with Sean Burke yet.
- 20:58No. And the offense is horrible.
- 20:59So, you know, he gives up the runs, he's going to get a loss.
- 21:03Absolutely. Yeah, it is what it is with
- 21:07them. I mean, who knows when the next
- 21:09time they'll turn it around. I will say maybe a flyer for
- 21:13deep league, maybe like an Andrew Benintendi.
- 21:17He's actually hasn't been that that bad.
- 21:19He's been pretty decent. So nobody else, nobody, nobody
- 21:26comes to mind at all. Yeah, but he's he's making a lot
- 21:29of money too. Yeah, yeah.
- 21:33Speaking of a lot of money, let's talk about the Yankees.
- 21:36DH, you call us standing here. OK.
- 21:38So I don't know if it's good news.
- 21:42I don't know if it's bad news. And this is a question.
- 21:44I'm going to ask what you think because I have an opinion
- 21:46already on this. He's looking to be back,
- 21:50possibly in the lineup by the end of the month when he's
- 21:54eligible to return from the IL. Now here's the question or
- 21:58questions, right? Do the Yankees really need him?
- 22:02Is he more of a liability in that line up?
- 22:06I'll give you my answer after I hear yours because you're not
- 22:09going to sway my opinion, but what do you think?
- 22:14I think he throws a little bit of a wrench.
- 22:18So there are only a few teams that have the situation like
- 22:20this, like they do, you know, but they have a guy like Stanton
- 22:24come back and then he DH the whole time.
- 22:28He he didn't play the field or outfield.
- 22:30You know, he wasn't running out there.
- 22:32But now you got Goldschmidt, now you got Bellinger, you know, you
- 22:36got guys that are, and they're also being productive.
- 22:39Not to mention as well, Stan's going to probably be in the
- 22:44Splatoon role moving forward. I, I don't think he's going to
- 22:47be even an everyday player. I think he's going to be coming
- 22:51in and out. DHNI think Austin Wells and both
- 22:56Ben Rice have been playing well enough, in my opinion, where
- 23:00they deserve to, to keep their roles as they are.
- 23:06So it's tough when you have Stan come back because you're paying
- 23:09him a lot of money. And we looked at his contract
- 23:13earlier today and it was a decent amount of money.
- 23:17It's not as much money as I thought, but it's still, he's
- 23:20still getting paid a lot of money.
- 23:21For the last three years. It's about what, 50 or 60
- 23:24million still? It's about 20 million a year
- 23:27now. I mean, the Yankees can can eat
- 23:29some of that if they'd like to. But the only problem is Juan
- 23:31Carlo has a no trade clause. So it's going to be up to him to
- 23:35to move on. If he chooses to, which I don't
- 23:39think he will. I think he's to the point in his
- 23:40career where he wants to chase World Series.
- 23:43So why why go anywhere else? You stay there.
- 23:47So it's kind of a bad formula for the Yankees.
- 23:49But I think like I said, his his role is going to be more of a
- 23:52platoon because I think these other guys have deserved their
- 23:56they're not, especially Paul Goldschmidt coming on a one year
- 23:59deal the way he did and now he's producing at a pretty nice
- 24:04level. 350. He's he's he's playing
- 24:07phenomenal. So you don't want to take that
- 24:09bat out for a guy that you know is going to hit you 200, you
- 24:13know, and and a ton of strikeouts and you know, maybe
- 24:17have a couple 450 foot home runs.
- 24:19Cool, but you know, they might be solo shot.
- 24:22So they don't do anything for you.
- 24:23Anybody, you know, real baseball or not, you know, fantasy.
- 24:27So it's tough. I, I think there's a problem
- 24:30there, but I, I don't know if it's a good or bad problem.
- 24:34Like I said, if they, if they're OK with platooning them, I guess
- 24:37it's a good problem to have. You know, you got to power right
- 24:39hand bat right on on the bench, but do you really want to be
- 24:42paying that much money for them? It's the Yankees, they can.
- 24:45So I'm not, I'm not saying that it's a bad thing, but that's
- 24:49where I kind of I, I go back and forth, but I think it's a good
- 24:52thing. I think it's a good, it's a good
- 24:54bad thing because you're not relying on him to come back to
- 24:57be a productive guy. But I think he's just a nice
- 25:00strong heavy bat to have on that that platoon side, if they feel
- 25:06he fits it, it's it's kind of tricky.
- 25:09I think it's a bad thing, personally.
- 25:11All the way. Bad all the way.
- 25:12Bad man. I do like they, they look good.
- 25:16You know they Bellinger's turning around.
- 25:18He had a really good last two weeks, has 350, you know, cut
- 25:24down on the strikeouts he had last year.
- 25:26He's averaging almost 2 1/2 points.
- 25:28So if you drafted him in Leeds, you got him really late, which
- 25:31is a steal right now in first base.
- 25:34But the thing I think they're producing so well is because
- 25:38they're meshing. Everybody's meshing right now
- 25:41and everybody's getting, you know, certain days off where
- 25:44they're like, OK, we'll put you in DH today, we'll put you in
- 25:47DH. You know, they're they're
- 25:49rotating guys. You add a a Carlos Stanton here
- 25:53who just strictly DHS, you're throwing a wrench and all that.
- 25:57You're you're blocking people who could be getting a potential
- 26:01extra day or two off from the field to now just riding the
- 26:04bench. And I don't think that that's
- 26:08necessarily a good thing at all. You know, they're meshing and
- 26:11now you have somebody coming back from the DIL that you like.
- 26:15You said 2220, you know, he could still possibly strike out
- 26:20202 hundred times this year if you played every game.
- 26:24If they put him in that lineup every day, he could still strike
- 26:27out 200 times. And he's a month and a half, two
- 26:29months into the season and he'll still have 200 strikeouts.
- 26:33And even I even forgot to mention too, you know, I gave
- 26:37credit to Ben Reyes and Austin Wells, but even if Stan wanted
- 26:40to play out field, I mean, Todd Grisham talked about a guy
- 26:44that's just Trent Tred Grissom. Excuse me, Tred Grissom.
- 26:49So I think Todd Grissom's like an announcer.
- 26:51But yeah, Tred Grissom, holy moly, man, what a what a
- 26:56outbreak he's having for the Yankees.
- 26:58And, and good for him. I like him.
- 26:59He's got that nice short swing and it's rocking the stash.
- 27:03I I feel like he looks like a Yankee.
- 27:05He feels like a Yankee, like kind of like an old school type,
- 27:08You know, it just, it just kind of fits the bill and he deserves
- 27:12to play as much as he is. So that doesn't change, I don't
- 27:16think in my book. I mean, I think the only hand up
- 27:19thing you could talk about Jason Dominguez maybe doesn't doesn't
- 27:22come out as hot as you wanted so far this year with his
- 27:26production and hitting and his progression.
- 27:28But he's he's like what, 22 years old still?
- 27:31He's he's still very young. He's still getting used to the
- 27:33MLB at bats. He might be a late bloomer, you
- 27:36know, later on the year, like how we saw Jackson Shiro.
- 27:38So like it's it's so early on in the season.
- 27:42Like I said, they're not and and they wouldn't have brought in
- 27:44Bellinger and Goldschmidt if they thought maybe stick play
- 27:47first base, make a little transition obviously later in
- 27:50his career. But yeah, it's it kind of just
- 27:54kind of throws a a wrench into everything.
- 27:58I feel that that's going good. And yeah, yeah, just we'll talk
- 28:04about we'll talk about wrenches. And I think on this next one
- 28:07here too, Doug, huh. We got a.
- 28:09Yeah, yeah. Just to just to get back about
- 28:15you were saying with that line up and I mean, I did watch that
- 28:19Padres game and I mean, you want to talk about offense, right?
- 28:24You got Austin Wells hitting the Grand Slam.
- 28:26You you had Cody Bellinger hit her.
- 28:28So I mean judge hit 1-2 like they're clicking man.
- 28:32And they're they're going to be a you know, they're going to be
- 28:35there at the end of the year, right?
- 28:38So it'll be interesting to to see what's going to happen with
- 28:42them. So yeah, the the next set and
- 28:44last point on on this around the league to me and you're going to
- 28:50find this weird by I agree, I agree.
- 28:55So Red Sox DH Rafael Devers said Wednesday, yesterday, well, no
- 28:59two days ago, excuse me, that he refuses to switch to first base
- 29:03now that Tristan Kansas is on the IL and now for the year, he
- 29:06told reporters through an interpreter, you know, when does
- 29:11it stop, right? If someone in the outfield gets
- 29:13hurt Now, do you want me to go and play the outfield?
- 29:17You know, I thought about it and my original thought was, well,
- 29:21if you were a team guy, you'd say, well, I'll do what's best
- 29:25for the team. Then I thought about a little
- 29:28more and I said, well, if I was in his shoes, right, you get
- 29:33signed in this massive extension to play your third baseman, so
- 29:38you think you're playing third. They signed Bregman, you're
- 29:43going to stay at third. Don't worry about it.
- 29:45What happens? They take him out of third.
- 29:46Bregman plays third and now you're going to DH full time.
- 29:50Now they're saying, Oh well, well, let's take out of DH and
- 29:52let's I think he's right. I really do, you know, I think
- 29:57when is enough, enough? Like, OK, now you're going to
- 29:59tell me you're going to call me names because I don't want to go
- 30:03to this position or that position or this position.
- 30:06Like I do agree, like enough's enough.
- 30:09He's finally getting into the swing of it.
- 30:11His offense is bad. It took him a month to turn it
- 30:13around. And these last 2-3 weeks he's
- 30:16been on fire for that team. He's turning it around.
- 30:19Now you want him to switch positions, which will probably,
- 30:22who knows, it might, it might put him back into a slump.
- 30:25You know, now again, you're talking, like you said, throwing
- 30:28a wrench into it, right? You throw a wrench into him,
- 30:30move him back to move him to 1st.
- 30:32Now he's got to relearn the position because a, it's, it's
- 30:35not spring training anymore. So he's going to learn on the
- 30:38fly, which is not a successful thing to do in baseball.
- 30:42And he's still going to bat while he learns.
- 30:46So if you're there and you're making errors at first base and
- 30:49yourself esteem goes, you know, and then how do you think that's
- 30:53going to translate when you go up to bat?
- 30:56You're going to no confidence at the plate.
- 30:59My I agree with him. I stand firm.
- 31:02Obviously at the beginning of the year I said he should move
- 31:04to first base. Actually, I said he should DH
- 31:08but or first base. But now we're a month and 1/2
- 31:14in. I agree with him.
- 31:15You know, he, he was signed his contract, he was told he's going
- 31:17to play third. And then what do they do 2 weeks
- 31:19before spring training ends at DH?
- 31:22You know, that's a kick. That's a kick in the you know
- 31:25what? So I agree, you know, you kind
- 31:28of got to stand firm, be like, hey, listen man, I moved for
- 31:31them. They told me that I was, I was
- 31:33going to have to now I did. Now they want me to move to 1st
- 31:36and of course everybody's going to say you should be doing
- 31:39what's best for the team, blah blah blah.
- 31:41I mean, he's right. When is enough enough?
- 31:47I agree. I agree.
- 31:49I agree in a different kind of way.
- 31:51Like I kind of simplify it a little bit and I'm probably
- 31:54simplifying it too much, but it's like, imagine working at
- 31:56Home Depot, right? And you've been working at Home
- 31:58Depot for 10 years and you're working in lumber for 10 years.
- 32:02All you do is work with these contractors.
- 32:04You get what they need, you help them or whatever.
- 32:06And after the 10 years, you know, you've been the manager
- 32:09there for 10 years and all of a sudden they say, hey, we need
- 32:11you to be a manager in plumbing too.
- 32:13Can you go over to plumbing? What does that guy know about
- 32:16plumbing? Probably nothing.
- 32:18All he knows is about lumber. So in this instance, for me,
- 32:21it's like, OK, this guy, all he's done is play third base.
- 32:24They're asking him just to be in everyday DH.
- 32:26So a little bit of pressure. You only go out there four or
- 32:28five times a day and you try to hit the ball as best as you can.
- 32:31And if you're unproductive, you feel like you really didn't do
- 32:34anything. So it's like at least, you know,
- 32:37I made a nice play, a couple of nice plays, a third base, I
- 32:39saved a couple bases there, you know, you know, prevented a run,
- 32:43prevention, whatever. You know, there's some more
- 32:45maybe positive takeaways. If you go over 4 / 5, you know,
- 32:48you're struggling. We saw it early on with Devers
- 32:50too. So obviously there's been some
- 32:54speculation that some veteran players, I guess, are not too
- 32:58happy right now with Devers and how he's kind of handling it.
- 33:01I did read before coming on the air that I believe it was Sam
- 33:05Kennedy Breslow and and John Henry flew to Kansas City to
- 33:13have a one-on-one with the Devers.
- 33:15And as Breslow put it, I believe he said it was a, he didn't say
- 33:21it was a candid conversation, but it was like a kind of like a
- 33:25direct conversation. You know, it was, you know,
- 33:29pretty much broadcast there. So I think, you know, that
- 33:34sticks out to me. All right.
- 33:37And I think that kind of puts the trade talks back on the
- 33:40table for Devers because if you have your owner, John Henry, who
- 33:46is not really involved in baseball operations in years
- 33:50ever, pretty much like we have not heard John Henry and
- 33:53baseball lops together in a very long time.
- 33:56The big joke in Boston is that Don Henry is too preoccupied
- 34:00with his soccer team and this and that, right?
- 34:02So for this guy to go onto a plane to Kansas City, MO, to go
- 34:12talk to your star player and your GM is now commenting and
- 34:18saying it was pretty much a very, you know, upfront
- 34:23conversation. That tells me that he was there
- 34:28to feel out if this guy means what he's saying and do they
- 34:32need to make a decision with him?
- 34:35Because I think right now, and I'm going to go on a little
- 34:38sorry, I'm going on a little rant here, but you've got
- 34:40Breslow that is probably telling everyone I need to get rid of
- 34:45this guy. I need to get rid of this guy.
- 34:47This guy is not going to work here.
- 34:50We need a first baseman. They want him to go to first
- 34:52base. He did not want to go.
- 34:55You know, that's a humongous knee that they needed.
- 34:57The Tristan Cass thing was awful last week.
- 35:00So now he's gone. And this is kind of why we
- 35:03wanted you to transition into this role because we weren't
- 35:06sure, you know, of Tristan Cass's health yet.
- 35:09You know, it was only his first full season back here, really.
- 35:12So it's like, what are we, what are we doing here with Devers?
- 35:16You got a $300 million contract. That's a lot of money.
- 35:21That's a lot of money. You can do a lot of good with
- 35:24that money, you know, and there's a lot of teams that will
- 35:27love a Rafael Devas on their team.
- 35:29So I don't even think the contract is an issue whatsoever.
- 35:32I don't think there's any give or take there.
- 35:35You already got a great foundation of guys coming up,
- 35:39Roman Anthony, Marco Meyer, you just called up Christian,
- 35:43Christian Campbell, right? So you got, you got your core up
- 35:46here already. So it's not like you have to
- 35:47trade this guy and get a bunch of projects and you're
- 35:49restarting here. You know, you can get some
- 35:51really good Major League Baseball players back in return
- 35:55that, you know, they could break it wide open.
- 35:58We saw it happen in 2004 with the Red Sox when they started
- 36:01breaking up the band and they brought in new guys that were
- 36:04that were good players. And I think that's what Craig
- 36:06Baryslow wants to do is, is kind of go away with this to reform
- 36:12his, what he sees. And instead of having one guy
- 36:15making $300 million, I'd rather go get 3 or 4 guys.
- 36:19And now that we have Bregman on board, now you got maybe
- 36:24something cooking because now you have a full Major League
- 36:26Baseball team out there because right now it's not working out.
- 36:29They should be better than what they are.
- 36:31Maybe go out there and get a pitcher there too with no some
- 36:33of that money if they do trade them.
- 36:35There's a lot of different things you can do with that.
- 36:37So I do think John Henry flew on that plane to really feel out if
- 36:41Craig Grislow was blowing smoke or no.
- 36:45Actually, this guy is an issue and we do need to probably move
- 36:47on and and see what other options are.
- 36:51So I think something's cooking there, Doc.
- 36:54I think Deborah's, I'm standing back.
- 36:56I'm going to say, hey, listen, man, I made the move for you.
- 36:59You wanted me to DH. I'm DH now.
- 37:01Now you want me to play first and a month and 1/2 into the
- 37:04season, you want me to move to first base.
- 37:07If this was spring training, maybe I think about it, right?
- 37:10Maybe I'd be a little more flexible.
- 37:12Seasonery started, now you want me to move again?
- 37:17If you don't, if you really really truly believe I am not a
- 37:20team player after what I just did, trade me, get rid of me
- 37:25because I I'll be happy to go somewhere else that will start
- 37:29me at third base, the position that I was signed for when you
- 37:33extended me. And now you're telling me you
- 37:37you can move on from me after I'm only a what, 2 years into
- 37:41this contract? It's crazy and it really is.
- 37:45I think it'd be foolish for them to move them.
- 37:48I think, hey, listen, I understand.
- 37:50I get the mentality behind it. We can fill ADH, we can get a
- 37:53hitter and fill ADH role better than we could at first.
- 37:56I understand all that. But I still would rather keep
- 38:01them. I mean, you want to trade them,
- 38:03trade them, But I don't know if I'd want four players for them,
- 38:06you know, maybe 2, maybe a pitcher or but they got to be
- 38:10decent players. I mean this even in fantasy
- 38:13realm, this guy's a top five third baseman, right, maybe a
- 38:16top 15 hitter of, of all, you know, So when he's going and
- 38:21he's had, you know, two years ago, great season, right, One of
- 38:24the best for the Red Sox. And I don't, you know, I, I
- 38:28don't know, I just a lot of people are blaming endeavours on
- 38:32this and I just even it, it sounds like even ownership is
- 38:35blaming endeavours. It's really not.
- 38:37His fault? You know, and it's bad because
- 38:40if he had a good PR person, he could spin this around so hard
- 38:45and, and I'm sure fans would agree if he could spin it around
- 38:48with him more than they would with management, but he doesn't
- 38:52have a good PR person and no. No, I I agree.
- 38:56And and The thing is, he doesn't have, he signs a contract, he
- 38:59signs up for what he's going to play for.
- 39:01And he has every right to be like, hey, you get like you just
- 39:05said, Doug, you just told me to D8.
- 39:07You just told me to do this. And you know, we went through
- 39:09this already. Like what do we do when
- 39:11revisiting this again? You know, we're already in the
- 39:13middle of the season, Not in the middle of the season, beginning
- 39:15of the season, but in. A different season now.
- 39:18You know, recent history, I've seen Bryce Harper, you know, do
- 39:22it, but it was really sloppy. We saw that transition happen
- 39:25live and it was very, very sloppy at the beginning.
- 39:28But Devers, I, I don't blame him for, for sticking up for himself
- 39:33pretty much standing out and being like, no, we're not going
- 39:35to do that. You know, that's not, you know,
- 39:37we, we talked about this already, but I just think that
- 39:42puts him vulnerable to get put on the market that I think
- 39:45that's just what the the reality is.
- 39:48And I do think you're right. I do think ownership is kind of
- 39:50blaming them a little bit. You pay a man $300 million, you
- 39:53expect them to be a leader as well.
- 39:54There's more that comes with that, not just the, the, the job
- 39:58that you do. We know it's the, the person
- 40:00that you are. It's, you know, that's, that's
- 40:02what you, you sign up for, you know, and you're the home grown
- 40:05kid. You're the guy that came from
- 40:07our system. You're going to be, you know,
- 40:08our face and this and that. So there is more that comes with
- 40:11it if you like it or not, but. Again, I don't know what's going
- 40:15to happen to them. Are they going to ship them to
- 40:17Seattle, get one of those pictures you don't get, you
- 40:19know, a little decent haul there.
- 40:21I mean, there's, there's not a lot of landing spots that I feel
- 40:26like you're going to be satisfied with and, and getting
- 40:29your return on, I mean. I, I mean, I, I, I don't know, I
- 40:34look at it and, and if I'm an owner for somebody else, I would
- 40:38take them with open arms because I don't think, I don't think
- 40:41this is really a big enough issue for me to like to deter me
- 40:47from picking this guy up, right. I mean, he, he makes a great
- 40:50point. He was signed to play third.
- 40:52Now he DHS now you want him to play first.
- 40:55You're 1/4 of the way through the season almost.
- 40:58So if I was an owner, I would totally say, hey, listen, if you
- 41:00guys want to get rid of him, here's a chance to kind of buy
- 41:03the low because maybe they're just like, hey, you know, we're
- 41:06we, we're really looking for a team player that'll move around
- 41:09for us. So if you want them, here you
- 41:11go. You can take them and give me
- 41:12this guy or this guy, you know, so I don't know, it'll be
- 41:16interesting to to see how they make it, make it work.
- 41:19I hope they do. I think it'd be silly to trade
- 41:21them. I don't think they would.
- 41:22But and then, you know, maybe talk to them and say, Hey,
- 41:25listen, next year, maybe we can transition to 1st, you know, not
- 41:30a a month and 1/2 into the year, because you know what's going to
- 41:33happen? They're going to transition
- 41:34them. You're going to see some errors,
- 41:36some kind of really easy place for a regular first baseman, but
- 41:40some errors on him and then he's going to get torn down and beat
- 41:44in through the streets in Boston, you know, and he doesn't
- 41:47deserve it. He doesn't.
- 41:48I think I think he has a he has a really good point here.
- 41:52That's all I'm saying. All right, all right, let's
- 41:57let's hop into to the hurt logger.
- 41:59This is going to be, this is a big one.
- 42:01So we might have to try to zoom through some of these, but yeah,
- 42:06let's just. Yeah, yeah.
- 42:18Hurt sometimes. All right, I have quite a bit on
- 42:21here So what I'll do is let me 123 45688.
- 42:30I have a 10. Let me go through 5 at a time
- 42:32and we'll break it down a little more.
- 42:34You did touch base on the first one it it's Red Sox first
- 42:38baseman Tristan Cassis. He's on a 10 day IL with a with
- 42:42a left patellar tendon rupture, which means he'll miss the
- 42:46season. I do have the play that caused
- 42:48that. It was very freakish play.
- 42:50Take a look right here. It's.
- 42:51It's almost like spring training.
- 42:53Look here. Little chop Herb and Ryan with a
- 42:55bobble. He'll shovel it safe.
- 42:58Oh no. Cost is down, clutching at his
- 43:02leg. Let's watch that one more time.
- 43:06But I think he's going to it's, it's almost like spring
- 43:07training. Look here.
- 43:09Little chop Herb and Ryan with a bobble.
- 43:11He'll shovel it safe. Oh, no.
- 43:14Cost is down. Clutching at his.
- 43:18Yeah, it's tough to watch. Yeah, you knew right when it
- 43:21happened. He was done for the year, not
- 43:24really a fantasy stud. We'd said earlier that they
- 43:27should have just traded in to begin with.
- 43:29He he's 182. Three home runs, 11 ribbies,
- 43:33five runs, no stolen bases, 27 strikeouts and 99 at the hats,
- 43:3930 points. He gave you a one off start.
- 43:42Not not nothing to write home about.
- 43:44Staying with the Red Sox started pitcher Walker Buhler, who was
- 43:47day-to-day this time last week. He is now placed on the 15 day
- 43:51IL. He's got that right shoulder
- 43:52persistus. Persistus.
- 43:57It's it's really just like a little pocket it, it's in the
- 44:00shoulder area. But she should just take the
- 44:04minimum time. So we should be back.
- 44:05Mid-May he was 4 and 133 2/3 and he's pitched 29 strikeouts, nine
- 44:11walks, a four 2 ERA, which to me was inflated from his first
- 44:15start. Really if you take that away,
- 44:17you're looking at a sub 379 points, 13 point to a start,
- 44:21which is great for a starting pitcher.
- 44:22He looked like he was back. Next up you got Cub starting
- 44:26pitcher Shota. He's on the 15 day IL.
- 44:28He's got a mild left hamstring strain.
- 44:30Prior to hitting the IL he was having leg cramps, so I wonder
- 44:33if maybe he tried to tweak his delivery to avoid the cramping
- 44:37in his last start. So regardless, they're still
- 44:41saying two week timetable, it's precautionary, should be back in
- 44:46the minimum, but we'll see when he comes back to the mound,
- 44:49right? He's still throwing.
- 44:51So he said even though I'm not full ramp throwing, I'm still
- 44:56going to toss and whatnot. So that's a good sign. 3 and 244
- 45:002/3 and he's pitched 34 strikeouts, 14 walks at 280 RA.
- 45:05He's giving you 71 points. He's giving you a nine to start.
- 45:09Next up, red starting pitcher Hunter Green was pulled from his
- 45:12start Wednesday. He was day-to-day dealing with a
- 45:16groin injury. Severity wasn't known.
- 45:19Here's your update. It's a grade one right strain,
- 45:21groin strain. He'll be out most of May for
- 45:24most of the month. Man, he look.
- 45:26Lights out four and 2:45 and 2/3 innings.
- 45:30Pitch. 61 strikeouts, eight walks, a 236 ERA, 125 points,
- 45:3815.7 points a start. That was a stud and we'll take a
- 45:44break after this one. Astros outfielder Jordan Alvarez
- 45:47is on the 10 day. IL do right hand inflammation
- 45:51again, should only take the minimum time.
- 45:53He wasn't looking good. 210 for the season. 3 home runs, 18
- 45:57ribbies, seven runs, one stolen base, 25 strikeouts and 100 at
- 46:04bats. So won a game pretty much 56
- 46:07points or 1.9 a start. So that's, that's our, that's
- 46:12our stop right there. Man, let's start from the top,
- 46:17right? Let's let's go back all the way
- 46:18from the top. I mean, obviously Tristan Cassis
- 46:22not really so much fancy relevant.
- 46:23There was some hope, right? In drafts, we did talk about
- 46:26like it was really Kim versus Vinnie P Vinnie P was definitely
- 46:30probably a little bit of a step up.
- 46:32But you know, we thought Tristan Cassis could have been like a
- 46:35poor man's Vinnie P, if you know what I mean.
- 46:37You know, like we talked about the 25 home runs, potentially 80
- 46:40RBIs right in the middle of that lineup is supposed to be a very
- 46:43good team right during draft time.
- 46:46So very unfortunate. Don't know where the Red Sox are
- 46:49going to go yet with first base. We did talk about Devers.
- 46:52We know that's not going to happen.
- 46:54We don't know if they're going to stay internal.
- 46:55We don't know if they're going to go external.
- 46:58I did see a funny list of names that did pop up.
- 47:01I think I was on MLB Network. You'll love this.
- 47:04Doug John Singleton was definitely one of them.
- 47:09So that's that's definitely kind of funny.
- 47:12I think. Didn't he have a stint with the
- 47:13Red Sox already? I think he already did.
- 47:15I think a. While back.
- 47:17So, but yeah, it's not looking great at first base if you're a
- 47:21Red Sox fan. And Tristan Cass, like we talked
- 47:24about in fantasy perspective, not great, not great this year.
- 47:27So he probably didn't have him even rushed it at this point.
- 47:30But it's just a noteworthy guy because he is going to miss the
- 47:32whole entire year. There's no bounce back coming
- 47:34now. Walker Buehler, man, he was
- 47:37having a pretty good stretch, you know, before you get higher.
- 47:40He did have some great run support.
- 47:42I did look back at some of his starts.
- 47:43I think it was a game against Toronto.
- 47:45He did give up like 4IN runs, but like they still got like
- 47:48they won like 4:50 or something. So so I think there's a little
- 47:52bit of luck there with that 411 record, but that that 29 to 9
- 47:55walk is a pretty good sign that he has his command, pretty good
- 47:59control, not too bad that 428's a little bloated.
- 48:02I think. I think the last three games are
- 48:04like the the walkability you think you're going to see moving
- 48:06forward. Hopefully he's going to be
- 48:09coming back pretty soon. I'll I got him Ross in a couple
- 48:11weeks. I'm pretty excited to see him
- 48:12come back. He's a great option to have,
- 48:14especially if you already have a good like 3 or 4 starters.
- 48:18He's definitely like a really nice number 56 at times,
- 48:21especially when he thought those quality starts.
- 48:24Soda, man, hate to see that name pop up.
- 48:27We're soda fans on this program. And especially if you're a Cubs
- 48:31fan too. Geez.
- 48:32I mean, the way the Cubs have been playing such a resurgence,
- 48:34a lot of a lot of hope and promise in Chicago this year,
- 48:38making a run. Tough to see this guy go down.
- 48:40I mean, that's the acre of their ace right there.
- 48:42You already had Justin Steele go down for the season.
- 48:45So like we said a few weeks ago, some of these guys are going to
- 48:48have to step up in this rotation.
- 48:51And one streamer that I've noticed that's pitching pretty
- 48:54well, not crazy good, but pretty well, is Matt Boyd.
- 48:58And that was one of the names that we talked about before.
- 49:00You know, we talked about three or four other guys, you know,
- 49:03Ben Brown and I believe a seed was one of them as well.
- 49:08But it's it's Matt Boyd that is actually being the productive
- 49:11guy out of those guys so far. So it's good to see him step up.
- 49:14But like I said, he's more of a streamer option at this point.
- 49:17So if you really need him in a week to week, he does play for a
- 49:20good baseball team, which always helps.
- 49:23Points league, you know, you can get a nice crazy easy win
- 49:26sometimes if he just goes 5 or 6.
- 49:29So yeah, Shota going down and then obviously Hunter green Cy
- 49:34Young esque pitching so far from hunter green very, very good
- 49:38pitcher. He really unlocked himself.
- 49:41I feel like this the second this last year and this year really
- 49:45fighting to stuff. I mean, that's why he was a top
- 49:47first round pick when he got drafted.
- 49:49He was already a stud then. Now he's really putting it
- 49:51together. So hopefully he comes back
- 49:53pretty soon. And then Jordan Alvarez, man,
- 49:56what is going on with Jordan Alvarez?
- 49:58210 average three home runs is that 18 RBI's 21 You know what
- 50:04is that 25 strikeouts 2021 strikeouts like too many like
- 50:09that's that's too many for him and then that average is really
- 50:11low only 56 points 1.9 per game. Are you kidding?
- 50:16That's not good. That's like you have to bench
- 50:18them. Like even I know he's hurt now,
- 50:20but still you probably up to this point, you you have to.
- 50:24I know you want to ride him out. He was one of the top picks for
- 50:27sure, but he hasn't done anything.
- 50:28He's kind of like in that Marcus Simeon boat where they're just
- 50:32not putting it together. And I don't know if there's a
- 50:35white flag that should go up pretty soon with these guys.
- 50:38I think Marcus Simeon, I think there is.
- 50:39I think there's a big problem there, but I don't know.
- 50:42Jordan Alvarez, now that he's hurt, we'll see what's going on
- 50:45with him. I don't know.
- 50:47That's not good, Doug. No, and like, like we talked
- 50:50about though, I mean that team, I mean they got rid of Bregman,
- 50:52they you know, you're moving Altuve and he's underperforming
- 50:57this year. So I don't know, it's just you
- 51:00got rid of Tucker, you you got rid of some pretty really good
- 51:02bats. And you know, to go out there
- 51:04and expect these guys to still perform at the level they were
- 51:07performing without those without, without the help, you
- 51:10know, behind you is, is tough to do.
- 51:12So I kind of attribute that to that maybe.
- 51:18But yeah, all right, let's move on.
- 51:19We got five more and then we'll take a break.
- 51:23So some of these guys were day-to-day.
- 51:26They're actually in the line up today.
- 51:27So except for this one, I'll get this one out of the way.
- 51:31Brewers starting pitcher Freddy Peralta, he's day-to-day with a
- 51:33groin injury. He's not undergoing any imaging
- 51:36or MRI. So they're just going to give
- 51:38him a day or two of extra rest before next start.
- 51:41Not sure why. I feel like maybe why not get
- 51:43the confirmation and get some imaging done, but I'm not a
- 51:47manager. 4 and 245 innings pitched, 48 strikeouts, 15
- 51:52walks, A21 ERA. He's giving you 13 a start or
- 51:56103 points total. Here's Brewers catcher William
- 52:01Contreras. He's day-to-day.
- 52:02He is in the lineup today. He actually has a couple hits.
- 52:05He did receive X-rays. He has a fractured middle finger
- 52:08on his left hand. He is still going to play
- 52:10through it throughout the year. So B be ready for for an
- 52:16additional day of rest here and there during the week.
- 52:20Still a pretty good year. Not as good as what you probably
- 52:23have hoped when you drafted him because he was probably one of
- 52:25the first catchers off the board in any draft. 242 three home
- 52:29runs, 19 ribbies, 19 runs, four stolen bases, 27 strikeouts and
- 52:33124 at bats. He's giving you 2.4 at start and
- 52:36points leads 83 total points. Pretty nice to see Cardinals
- 52:41third base Arenola Nolan Arenado, he's day-to-day.
- 52:46He's back in the line up again today.
- 52:48Last I looked he was 2 for two. So he was having a pretty decent
- 52:51day. He's had he has a back injury
- 52:53and he was having some spasms prior to Wednesday's game which
- 52:57had them pull him out. So I don't know again what
- 53:03they're going to do on the go forward.
- 53:04That's usually back spasms is just you'll get a a day off when
- 53:08it happens. You won't know when it's going
- 53:10to happen. It's a spasm.
- 53:12So just be prepared for him to you know, just occasionally not
- 53:16play when he you know you would otherwise think he would. 256
- 53:20three home runs, 14 ribbies, 16 runs, one stolen base, 14
- 53:24strikeouts, 2.5 a start. It's almost like a a renaissance
- 53:28year for him. 85 total points. He looks really good.
- 53:32Next up, we did talk about this earlier.
- 53:34We're going to hit it again. Padres starting to pitch and
- 53:36Dylan Cece's day-to-day. He's got a forearm injury.
- 53:40It looked to be cramping. His last start.
- 53:42He said he could pitch through it.
- 53:44But like you look at Shota and his cramping, right?
- 53:46He had that leg cramped, went out.
- 53:47His next start, maybe he kind of tweaked that delivery so he
- 53:52wouldn't experience the cramping.
- 53:54I don't know what he's going to do.
- 53:55He's not going to go on the IL. He's going to play through it.
- 54:00No imaging done. It is what it is.
- 54:03He had over six innings of no hit ball against the Yankees on
- 54:06Wednesday before the injury occurred.
- 54:08Then he gave up a solo shot to Cody Belanger, who he said was
- 54:11red hot. And I actually have the image,
- 54:13the video of when that that actually happened.
- 54:16So here is him experiencing the the cramping slider.
- 54:22It looks like right there and then, Don, that's what you
- 54:24noticed right there with his hand wipe, shake, look, extend.
- 54:29And he is coming out of. So let's just watch that one
- 54:33more time slider, it looks like right there and then, Don,
- 54:39that's what you noticed right there with his hand wipe, shake,
- 54:43look, extend. Yeah.
- 54:46So he was cramping. They like I said, they took him
- 54:48out of the game, said he could have played through it.
- 54:52So I wouldn't take him out. I mean, obviously I'd still get
- 54:55some type of imaging done. But you know, again, I'm not,
- 54:59I'm not AGM or anything. And last but not least, Tiasca
- 55:03Hernandez, he's on the 10 day IL with a left grind strain.
- 55:06Manager Dave Roberts is hoping for the end of the month return.
- 55:08He was having a great year, 3.6 a start.
- 55:10He was giving you 120 total points, 315, nine homers, 34
- 55:15rabies, 21 runs, four stolen bases and 130 at bats.
- 55:18He looked great. He was a steal.
- 55:21Now I did want to go a little more in depth on on the Dodgers,
- 55:26not not T Oscar, but more on their rotation, right, because
- 55:29you got Michael Kopek, you got Kershaw, you got Snell, you got
- 55:33Blake trying and you got Tyler Glasner, you got Tommy Edmond,
- 55:35who's not on the rotation, but he's still on the IL, Evan
- 55:38Phillips and Nat T Oscar. So a team that was supposed to
- 55:40run away with the division early are only a game and a half up
- 55:44against the Padres and the Giants.
- 55:46And and this image kind of shows it to you, brings it all in.
- 55:50That's it. Look like, you know, honestly,
- 55:56Tony GS back, he just got back so you can there's a little
- 55:58dated image, but still, you know, this was supposed to be
- 56:01the greatest nine man rotation and hit in the history of
- 56:04baseball. You know when they when they put
- 56:07this all together and Snells out right glass now is out show.
- 56:11Hey hasn't even start throwing yet.
- 56:13I would be very surprised if he even goes on the mound.
- 56:16Maybe the second-half, but I think they really want him to
- 56:21focus on hitting Tyler Glass now.
- 56:23Bobby Miller got demoted, right? Kershaw, Tony G's back, Dustin
- 56:29Mays, all right, Rokie looks mediocre, and Yamamoto just gave
- 56:34up a Grand Slam to Montero for his first home run of the year.
- 56:40I mean, he had a horrible start against the Diamondbacks
- 56:43yesterday. I mean, there's a lot to talk
- 56:46about, but every year it seems like you go into the year,
- 56:49you're like, OK, Dodgers are set, right?
- 56:52Last year, same thing, right? They got Glasnab, they got
- 56:54Yamamoto. You're like, all right, they're
- 56:55set. What happens?
- 56:56Yamamoto gets hurt, Glasgow gets hurt, Kershaw gets hurt.
- 57:00So now same thing. It's like if I'm a pitcher, I
- 57:04don't even know if I want to go to LA anymore.
- 57:09It's it's weird, I guess. I guess when they say you can
- 57:11never have too much pitching, they're absolutely right.
- 57:15Yeah, yeah. I mean, if you do your research
- 57:18on these guys, like, you know, we do a decent amount of
- 57:21research. We know these guys, we've been
- 57:22watching these guys for years. We know there's precautions when
- 57:25when you sign these guys. And maybe that's why they they
- 57:29said, yeah, we're going to get eight of these guys right now
- 57:32because they all got problems and they're all going to have
- 57:36problems throughout the year. Hopefully they just don't
- 57:38overlap one another too much, you know, because Lake Snell
- 57:42obviously has had injuries the last couple years.
- 57:45Tyler lads now has had injuries the last couple years.
- 57:47Kershaw has had injuries the last couple years.
- 57:49Todd, he's already had Tommy John surgery.
- 57:51So he's already, you know, put his time in for Tommy John a
- 57:55couple times, right? I think maybe twice, you know,
- 57:58Tony G coming back right, Dustin May, those guys coming off
- 58:02surgeries like it was an injury prone rotation from the gecko.
- 58:07It's just the names just sounded nice.
- 58:08All of them. I mean, how can you just how can
- 58:11you say Kershaw and Snell and Glasnow?
- 58:13It's not a a cool, cool three. You know, we know Kershaw's not
- 58:17the same guy, but still, you know what?
- 58:18I'm but I'm getting that and I'm not even talking about
- 58:20Yamamamoto. I got Yamoto in one of my big
- 58:22money leagues, so when he lowered the bases, I actually
- 58:25turned off the game before the Grand Slam.
- 58:27So I did not get the pleasure of seeing it.
- 58:29So I heard about it though. Sucks.
- 58:35But I mean, he has been a bright light in that that rotation.
- 58:38Except, you know, obviously that Grand Slam killed him and he had
- 58:43a little bit of a clunker to last start too.
- 58:45So he's kind of coming back down to reality a little bit.
- 58:49So what are they going to do moving forward?
- 58:50Who knows? I'm not really sure.
- 58:52I think they're going to keep status quo.
- 58:54I think they got what they got. I've been noticing they do the
- 58:57the long relief stuff now where they throw a guy for an inning,
- 59:01throw another guy in for three or four, and then kind of go to
- 59:03the back of the end of the bullpen again.
- 59:05So that's one route to do it for short term until these guys come
- 59:09back. Now, what are the timelines,
- 59:11Doug? Doesn't seem like these guys
- 59:12come back anytime soon. I, I think I'm trying to like,
- 59:19like I said, I would say Tyler Glasnow will probably be back
- 59:24before all of them probably go Glasnow then Snell Shohei.
- 59:30I, I really don't see him starting this year.
- 59:32If I'm completely honest with you, a guy hasn't touched a
- 59:35baseball and I think it, it makes it tough for him because
- 59:38he is batting. So when he's going to get that
- 59:40opportunity to go out and face, you know, you're not, you're not
- 59:43going to demote him to AAA to get a couple starts in.
- 59:46Are you like and take that bat away for three for a week or
- 59:49two? It's it's and that's you can sit
- 59:53there and say he's a Unicorn and I totally agree.
- 59:55But that's the dynamic of that. Is that OK?
- 59:59Well, now he's back, you know, he could pitch, but he's mid
- 1:00:02year. What am I going to do?
- 1:00:04How am I going to put him in? I can't.
- 1:00:06He needs live game action. Am I going to just, you know,
- 1:00:10forget about sending him to AAA to stretch out and just have him
- 1:00:14start games with the Dodgers and say, hey, you know.
- 1:00:17Every game will have you go in and you can pitch 2 innings, 3
- 1:00:21innings 4 and then work that pitch kind up in the in the
- 1:00:23majors as opposed to the minors, which would be unprecedented
- 1:00:26really. I haven't seen any pitcher ever
- 1:00:28do that. So I don't know.
- 1:00:30I, I, if I, like I said if I had to be a betting man, I would say
- 1:00:35he's, he's not going to pitch this year as a starter.
- 1:00:37But on the flip side of that, you know, who knows, if
- 1:00:41anything, you'd you'd be looking after the All Star break because
- 1:00:45maybe he skips the All Star game and goes to minor leagues and
- 1:00:49gets a couple starts in that way, like, you know, you get you
- 1:00:52got to kind of be creative, I think with this situation,
- 1:00:54because there's no other way to give him these this this live
- 1:00:58action to to pitch. No, I, I think, I think you
- 1:01:02nailed it. I don't think he should start
- 1:01:04this year. And you have to build up the
- 1:01:06pitch count. You know, you can only do so
- 1:01:08much in simulated games and and and live and live, you know,
- 1:01:12hitters and stuff too. But I I think a bullpen role
- 1:01:15would fit him well. We talked about it weeks ago.
- 1:01:17We joked about it. Actually, it was probably longer
- 1:01:19than that. We said Otani could be closed
- 1:01:21now World Series games. I mean, that could be the avenue
- 1:01:24this year for him just to get back on the mound.
- 1:01:27And then the offseason you start building up that pitch, that
- 1:01:30pitch count again, because we're already in mid season.
- 1:01:32You're not going to take that bad out of the lineup.
- 1:01:33That's crazy talk, right? That's just not going to happen.
- 1:01:36So I I think they need the help though.
- 1:01:39I think they can use all the help that they can get and I
- 1:01:42don't think they're done. I do think they're going to
- 1:01:44probably make a move eventually for whatever needs they need.
- 1:01:48How about Nolan Arenado playing third base for them?
- 1:01:51You know, I think the Max months he experienced is starting to
- 1:01:53come to an end, I feel. So, you know, that's a guy that
- 1:01:57I think would really well in that lineup as well.
- 1:02:00You know, you can put that guy like 6th in the lineup.
- 1:02:03How nice would that be to have a Nolan Arenado bat and 6th in the
- 1:02:06lineup? How sick is that?
- 1:02:08So it it's just, you know, again, you need that Otani bat
- 1:02:11in there. Mookie Freeman, the Oscar, you
- 1:02:16know, the whole talking point for the injury report here, the
- 1:02:18Oscar has been on fire. The Oscar has averaged you 3.6
- 1:02:21per fantasy. Like, holy moly, that guy's been
- 1:02:25on. That guy's raking 120 like that.
- 1:02:28That guy's a stud. But I do think they're going to
- 1:02:31make a move eventually because they're the Dodgers.
- 1:02:33They can. They're going to talk deferred
- 1:02:35money. That's not going to stop
- 1:02:37anything and they're going to be there at the end.
- 1:02:40So you might as well have the best guys with them.
- 1:02:42So we'll see. Yeah, I know you didn't get a
- 1:02:50lot of time to talk about the rest.
- 1:02:52Nah, that's correct. Honestly, it's OK because
- 1:02:55honestly, it's not too much there.
- 1:02:56I mean, Freddie, I did wish he'd get some X-rays or something
- 1:02:59just to make sure he's all right.
- 1:03:00But he's a vet, he's a horse. He's an averaging over 200
- 1:03:04innings for the last like two or three years, I think so I think
- 1:03:07he's just going to fight through it.
- 1:03:09Dylan cease when he's when he's on, he's the best, like he is
- 1:03:13the best when he's on. So he'll be fine too.
- 1:03:18He was just definitely getting cramps.
- 1:03:19You saw the video. That's definitely cramps all the
- 1:03:21way. That's just I need I need to
- 1:03:23shake this off and get some something comfortable.
- 1:03:27So and then no one arenado back spasms.
- 1:03:29Nothing new there. He'll be fine.
- 1:03:31He'll be back. So yeah, no, I don't mind
- 1:03:35talking Dodgers. Dodgers are cool all.
- 1:03:40Right, let's let's perfect time booked halfway into the show
- 1:03:43already. Let's take a quick break.
- 1:03:45We're going to come back. We'll talk about the hottest,
- 1:03:47coldest players of this week in fantasy and then we'll talk
- 1:03:50about some great sell high, buy low players and recap last
- 1:03:54week's sell high buy low. And again, I'd like to say I
- 1:03:57think we got a couple of them right.
- 1:03:59I think we did. I think we nailed it.
- 1:04:01And of course, got some visuals with all that information on it.
- 1:04:04All right, so don't go anywhere. We'll be back in a little over a
- 1:04:08minute, I promise. All right, you going back in?
- 1:04:14There's still men out there. home, people ask me, hey, who?
- 1:04:31Why do you do it, man? Wow, some kind of war junkie.
- 1:04:37I won't say a goddamn word. What they won't understand.
- 1:04:43They won't understand why we do it.
- 1:04:49They won't understand. It's about the men next to you.
- 1:04:55And that's it. It's all it is.
- 1:05:01Find us on the web at MB Radio dot US Want to make it clear
- 1:05:05that the views expressed by our hosts are not considered the
- 1:05:08official stance of MBR views? Remember, this is all about
- 1:05:12having fun and enjoying the ride.
- 1:05:14And now the guys you just love to hate.
- 1:05:17They're trash. It's it's man.
- 1:05:20It's a justified. Man, it's a man.
- 1:05:23It's it's not. Doug and Mike are back with more
- 1:05:26bourbon and ball. All right, we are back and we
- 1:05:31are ready to go, man, let's. All right, we are bringing you
- 1:05:51this week's hottest hitters and pictures for your fantasy team.
- 1:05:55These numbers again come from our ESPN Head to Head Point
- 1:05:58League. But again, if you're a top
- 1:06:00player in a points league, chances are you're a top player
- 1:06:03in the Cats League or any other team or any other format.
- 1:06:06So here they are. I'll read off the two hitters
- 1:06:10and then we'll discuss them and then we'll do the same for the
- 1:06:14pitching. So yeah, so Dodgers first
- 1:06:17baseman, no surprise here, right?
- 1:06:18Freddie Freeman, he's 99.8% owned 464, three home runs, 12
- 1:06:24ribbies, five runs, 12 ribbies in a week, 4 strikeouts and 28
- 1:06:29at bats. He gave you 40 points or 5.7 of
- 1:06:32start. What an amazing week.
- 1:06:35And. Talk about a no name on this
- 1:06:37one, right? Cleveland shortstop, second base
- 1:06:40outfield. Daniel Scherner, Schernerman
- 1:06:45Sherderman Daniel Sherderman. He's only owning 5% of leagues.
- 1:06:50So if you pick them up and you started them, man, you, someone
- 1:06:54owes you a beer. I think, jeez, that's crazy. 412
- 1:07:01average, 3 homers, seven RBI, eight runs, no stolen bases, 2
- 1:07:05strikeouts, 17 at bats. 718 at bats.
- 1:07:09He had versus Freddie Freeman, who had 28.
- 1:07:12He had 9 less at bats and gave you one less .39 points, 6.5 a
- 1:07:19start. Yeah.
- 1:07:22I mean, to me that I think that Guardians team is really coming
- 1:07:25around. I think Carlos Santana at a
- 1:07:27Grand Slam the other day, Stephen Quan is, is a great lead
- 1:07:30off guy. He gets on base.
- 1:07:31Jose Ramirez is finally turning it around.
- 1:07:34So I think they're going to be really good.
- 1:07:36Their pitching is is kind of amped as far as their their
- 1:07:40offense. I think it's legit.
- 1:07:42I really do. I think it is too.
- 1:07:44I mean, I'm looking at Cleveland.
- 1:07:45There's seven and three the last 10 games.
- 1:07:47I mean that I think the it's Kansas City.
- 1:07:50I mean nine and one the last 10 games they're they're on fire.
- 1:07:54But I mean, yeah, Cleveland, they're kind of just a scrappy
- 1:07:58bunch in my opinion. They got a quite an interesting
- 1:08:01team that they got that they put together.
- 1:08:03And it's good to see Jose Ramirez starting to swing the
- 1:08:06bat nice again like we did see last year.
- 1:08:09We knew he was a slow starter last year, happened again this
- 1:08:12year, but nothing to worry about there.
- 1:08:14Steven Kwan. I mean that guys just a stud.
- 1:08:17I mean, what a fantasy God he is.
- 1:08:19He is like, man, if I had to compare him to like a fantasy
- 1:08:23football stud, he's like, he kind of reminds you of like a
- 1:08:27coup of cup type, you know, just always consistent, always, you
- 1:08:31know, getting catches and stuff and getting a ton of points.
- 1:08:34Like Stephen Quan does the same thing.
- 1:08:35Gets a ton of hits, doesn't strike out, steals, bases, gets
- 1:08:39RBIs, like, just a just a great guy to have on your fantasy
- 1:08:43team. So, yeah, that Cleveland team.
- 1:08:44Yeah. Daniel here.
- 1:08:46Never heard of him. Not even going to lie to you.
- 1:08:48Not on my radar whatsoever. Probably won't be.
- 1:08:52I mean, these guys, we talked about it, Doug, we got guys,
- 1:08:57especially in pitching that they get 2 starts and they get picked
- 1:09:01up and then they wreck you, you know, and with hitters, they go
- 1:09:04on these streaks for like, you know, four or five games, six
- 1:09:07games, maybe, you know, a couple series, right?
- 1:09:10We're talking, you know, you know, 22 home, you know, home
- 1:09:14stands or whatever. We're talking here and they go
- 1:09:16off and this is what this guy did.
- 1:09:19I, I don't know what his like overall numbers are this year,
- 1:09:24but I'm I'll look, but I'm not picking them up.
- 1:09:29You know what I mean, You know? How it goes, right?
- 1:09:32They have this amazing week, so everybody picks them up and
- 1:09:34starts them right to try to ride that wave and they go like one
- 1:09:40for 20. It's exactly.
- 1:09:42That's exactly what happens. Yeah, let's.
- 1:09:46All right, so let's dive into pitching right?
- 1:09:48We got giant sighting pitcher Robbie Ray, who's for some
- 1:09:52really weird reason is only only 66.7% of ESPN leagues, which is
- 1:09:57to me, bizarre man. He is putting together almost
- 1:10:02similar to that Cy Young year he had years a couple of three or
- 1:10:05four years ago now. Great week, right?
- 1:10:08Two and O, 13 innings pitch, 13 strikeouts, four walks, one
- 1:10:11earned, give you 48 points. And it wasn't like one of those
- 1:10:16starts wasn't obviously the Rockies.
- 1:10:18That's a start you should win. He did beat the Cubs.
- 1:10:21So you know, that's a really good team.
- 1:10:24Next up, you got that starting pitcher and we were talking
- 1:10:27about the Royals earlier, Chris Mubic, starting pitcher, relief
- 1:10:31pitcher, eligible, 84% owned. I can't believe he's more owned
- 1:10:35than probably right, but it is what it is.
- 1:10:39He went two and O he had 10 strikeouts in 12 innings, 2 two
- 1:10:43walks, nowhere. He gave you 40.76 points.
- 1:10:47But his starts though were a little less impressive because
- 1:10:50it was the White Sox and the Orioles.
- 1:10:52Honorable mentions for hitters, you got Shohei Otani with 37, so
- 1:10:56that was a bounce back because he made our who's who's not list
- 1:10:59last week. Bobby Woods junior gave you 37.
- 1:11:02Then on the flip side, you got Max Freed who gave you almost
- 1:11:0540. He gave you 39.
- 1:11:07And Hunter Green, who if he wasn't pulled from that start,
- 1:11:10was on the verge probably being the highest score for the week,
- 1:11:12he gave you 37. So just imagine if he ended up
- 1:11:15completing that, giving you the win and the quality start,
- 1:11:18you're looking at over 50 points.
- 1:11:20So yeah, that that, I mean it really good offensive week from
- 1:11:24the players that you drafted that should be producing like
- 1:11:27that every week. Yeah, those last two guys,
- 1:11:30Hunter Green, like we said, that's guy that's going to be
- 1:11:33talked about a lot this year. Central side young guy for sure.
- 1:11:37And then even Max Reid really settling in with New York,
- 1:11:39really pitching well there. And I think that's what makes
- 1:11:42New York stand out the most, especially in the ALES.
- 1:11:44There's their pitching. Carlos Rendones have been pretty
- 1:11:47good for him so far at this point.
- 1:11:49So there's there's a lot of positives to take away from
- 1:11:51there. But back to these guys on the
- 1:11:53board, though. I mean, Robbie Ray finally
- 1:11:56healthy. He's looking great.
- 1:11:58He's he's pounding it in there. And I like the, I like the Lions
- 1:12:02that he had this week. And he looked good doing it too.
- 1:12:05And we looked at the standings. We talked about the Giants.
- 1:12:08They're right there in that division race.
- 1:12:11They're going to need Robbie Ray to step up and they're going to
- 1:12:14ask a lot from him because really there's not too, too much
- 1:12:17else going on in that rotation except for Robbie, I think to
- 1:12:21this point. Logan Web.
- 1:12:24Bob, Excuse me. Yeah.
- 1:12:25Logan Webb. How could I forget the web man?
- 1:12:29But you know, obviously they got Justin Berlander there too.
- 1:12:32Obviously he's not the same guy that we we love and and know.
- 1:12:36So you can't expect him to to obviously be the same guy.
- 1:12:40So, but yeah, Robbie Rae's been a bright spot.
- 1:12:43That's why they signed him to a multi year contract even when he
- 1:12:46was hurt. So he's going to be just fine.
- 1:12:48I I, I'd love to have him on my team if I could.
- 1:12:51And then, yeah, Chris Buick here is good.
- 1:12:55Good for him. You know, this is what Kansas
- 1:12:57City does. I feel like recently they just
- 1:12:58kind of they're starting to just produce pictures when they go
- 1:13:01there. So he's the next guy up.
- 1:13:04We saw Michael Walker there. Now we saw it with Seth Lugo
- 1:13:07coming out last year having a really good season.
- 1:13:09You know, from where you got him, you probably picked him up
- 1:13:11or drafted him late and now you got this guy that's producing
- 1:13:15pretty well or again, a red hot Kansas City Royals team.
- 1:13:19So this is a guy that, like I said, I like pitchers that play
- 1:13:23on good teams. I'm I'm about that.
- 1:13:27And if they're, if they're, you know, mediocre, so be it.
- 1:13:30I still might get that that win in the back end.
- 1:13:32So this is the guy I would definitely take a flyer on, pick
- 1:13:35him up. You know, Baltimore White Sox,
- 1:13:40maybe not as impressive, but he's still got the job done.
- 1:13:44That's the most important part. That's what you're supposed to
- 1:13:46do when you're a good baseball team, beat up on the bad ones.
- 1:13:49So yeah, I, I, I'd ride them out.
- 1:13:52What do you think, Doug? Yeah, I mean, he's, he's got
- 1:13:55that relief eligible too. So that kind of makes him a
- 1:13:58little more valuable in a lot of, especially in like weekly
- 1:14:02leagues where, you know, you're only starting a handful of guys.
- 1:14:06He can give you 2 starts from that relief role.
- 1:14:07And obviously you're going to start him if it's the White Sox
- 1:14:10and the Orioles, right? Worst case scenario you get the
- 1:14:13win and you get a loss, but you get so many points from the win
- 1:14:15and the quality start in most leagues.
- 1:14:17A loss if he did lose for to the Orioles wouldn't really be that
- 1:14:21that far fetched, right? I mean if he gives you 20 points
- 1:14:25and then ends up giving you -3 or 4, you're still getting 17
- 1:14:28points. Which isn't isn't horrible.
- 1:14:30I mean, that's probably what you would get from a closer in that
- 1:14:32spot anyways, a good closer in most cases.
- 1:14:36Exactly. Yeah.
- 1:14:38So on the flip side of that, we're going to dive into who's
- 1:14:42not hot this past week, and there are a couple familiar
- 1:14:46faces on this list. Yeah, we'll go hitters and then
- 1:14:50we'll go pitchers, right? Cubs, outfield, DH, Saya Suzuki.
- 1:14:55This is the second time on this list, believe it or not, I think
- 1:14:58the first or second week of the year he was on it as well.
- 1:15:01A lot of strikeouts, and he's back to that again. 90 / 90%.
- 1:15:05Oh 90.7 was over 95% during his hot streak a couple weeks ago.
- 1:15:11074 average, no home runs, three ribbies, one run, zero stolen
- 1:15:17bases, 10 strikeouts and 27 at bats.
- 1:15:20He gave you -4 points for the week.
- 1:15:24And then Astros second base outfield Jose Altuve.
- 1:15:27He's still 95.8% owned. 154 average, no home runs, no
- 1:15:32ribbies, two runs scored, no stolen bases, 4 strikeouts and
- 1:15:3626 at bats. And he just gave you 2 points,
- 1:15:39two points for the week. Yeah.
- 1:15:43I mean, I don't think none of these these names, I don't think
- 1:15:46the hitters at least surprised me.
- 1:15:49It's. They're.
- 1:15:51Both on it for the second time, different different weeks, but
- 1:15:54same same thing. You know, I mean Altube is still
- 1:15:58making contact and and say is still striking out.
- 1:16:02Yeah, two big keys right there. I mean, we knew Altuve was
- 1:16:05probably going to take a step back a little bit.
- 1:16:07That line up kind of depleted a little bit over the offseason.
- 1:16:11Who's Bregman? He's getting a year older now.
- 1:16:13He's changed positions. But yeah, the hitting has been
- 1:16:17really there for Jose Antuve to this point so far this year, to
- 1:16:20our liking at least. And yeah, Suzuki is definitely
- 1:16:24one of those, you know, hot, cold guys.
- 1:16:25When he's hot, he's he's a really, really good hitter and
- 1:16:28obviously we talked about the Cubs great line up too, but when
- 1:16:31he's not playing well, he can do some damage to you on the the
- 1:16:35bad side, 10 strikeouts in a week is a lot of strikeouts.
- 1:16:38That's not good. That's that's doing you more
- 1:16:41harm than good. And that's a guy that's tricky
- 1:16:43too, because he's like a #3 #4 outfielder, you know, in that in
- 1:16:48that realm when he's good, you know, even a utility spot,
- 1:16:51depending on what your offense looks like.
- 1:16:53So sometimes you don't have like the right options.
- 1:16:56So when you put them in, you know, you can kind of get, like,
- 1:16:59a bag of tricks. You don't know what sometimes
- 1:17:01you're going to get at the other end.
- 1:17:04Yeah. It's just it's unfortunate to
- 1:17:06see these guys again on this list, too.
- 1:17:09Like, we talked about Otani last week.
- 1:17:11You know, we joked around a little bit, you know, lost all
- 1:17:13faith. But honestly, we knew that
- 1:17:15wasn't the case. We knew he was going to be right
- 1:17:16on that hot list pretty close to it, at least sooner than later.
- 1:17:21But yeah, these guys you probably took, you know, Altuve,
- 1:17:25you probably took a little bit earlier than you thought, right?
- 1:17:27You know, 5th, 6th round, second base, top three or so people
- 1:17:33like their Altuve, they got their guys.
- 1:17:36Altuve is definitely a guy like that.
- 1:17:39So what do you do with a guy like Altuve now?
- 1:17:42Do you hold them? Do you do you try to sell them
- 1:17:44for what he is right now? Like that's a good buy sell
- 1:17:49question for for Jose Altuve, what do you do?
- 1:17:53I would, I don't know, I'd, I'd probably hold on to him.
- 1:17:57I'd play him at second. Obviously if he can get better
- 1:17:59outfielders in, in fantasy, I think a free agent outfielder
- 1:18:03will probably give you more points than what he's giving you
- 1:18:05in the outfield. I think you play him at 2nd and
- 1:18:08you ride him out. I mean, he's not obviously he's
- 1:18:10not giving you a ton of points, but he's not also giving you
- 1:18:12negative points. You know, still only four
- 1:18:16strikeouts on the week. That's not insane.
- 1:18:19Like it's not crazy. I still I would still ride him
- 1:18:24out. You know, I still think he's
- 1:18:25he's good. I don't think he's this bad.
- 1:18:28But again, like, like we had talked about earlier, you know,
- 1:18:30that line up has you lost Bregman and you lost Tucker and
- 1:18:35Bregman is a top three or top four third baseman in fantasy
- 1:18:41and Tucker is a just a top five hitter period in fantasy.
- 1:18:45And you know, you're not really replacing those with similar
- 1:18:48bats. So of course you know
- 1:18:50everybody's going to get worse in that line up because you're
- 1:18:52losing, you're losing that. I mean, like we talked about in
- 1:18:55Baltimore, right, very similar situation here where you're
- 1:18:58losing players and you're not really replacing them with as
- 1:19:02high quality as as the players you lost.
- 1:19:04So I would hold play them a second and see what happens.
- 1:19:08I like that. Yeah, I agree with that.
- 1:19:10I think I think I'd rather have them on my team at this point.
- 1:19:13And you know, if you, if you have another second baseman
- 1:19:15that's that's playing better, hey, good for you.
- 1:19:18Put them in right, you know, you might have bloated up on 2 or
- 1:19:21you had a guy that plays multiple positions and they just
- 1:19:25ended up hitting. So yeah, I'm on.
- 1:19:29I'm on the same board though. I'd rather have him just on the
- 1:19:31bench or at least on the roster. All right, so on the flip side
- 1:19:36of that, it's going to starting pitching, right?
- 1:19:40Tampa Bay starting pitcher Shane Bass.
- 1:19:42He is 47.5% owned. He was 85% owned.
- 1:19:49Look at that. It's amazing what just a week or
- 1:19:51two weeks of of just being mediocre can do to your
- 1:19:54ownership percentage, right? He is O and one, only three and
- 1:19:59a third in each pitch. 3 strikeouts, two walks, 6 earned.
- 1:20:02He give you -6.4 points against the Phillies.
- 1:20:07So I mean, you can kind of understand that one, right?
- 1:20:10Mariners tiny pitcher Bryce Miller, he's 78.7% owned.
- 1:20:15He was 92% owned. So again, you're looking at.
- 1:20:19You know, a couple weeks of just mediocre play and what that does
- 1:20:22to to the owner percentage of some of these players.
- 1:20:26He did not get a win. He did not get a loss.
- 1:20:28He went 4 innings. He had a strikeout, no walks, 4
- 1:20:31earned -1 point. That was against the A's though.
- 1:20:34So I mean, that's a winnable match up in my opinion.
- 1:20:37I can understand the frustration.
- 1:20:39Couple honorable mentions. I will say Jordan Alvarez did
- 1:20:42give you -1 point, but I did not put him on this list because he
- 1:20:45did hit the IL and that was only really for two games of the week
- 1:20:49last week. So it kind of wasn't fair to
- 1:20:50him. Marcus Simeon, William Contreras
- 1:20:53all had two for the week, so again, nothing sexy.
- 1:20:59Luis Giolito, I could have put him on here.
- 1:21:01He gave you a -7 but I still think he's returning from
- 1:21:05injury. He's still trying to work things
- 1:21:07out. I didn't want to put him on the
- 1:21:09spot yet because I feel like he'll probably be on the spot
- 1:21:12maybe next week. And then Max Mayer, a little
- 1:21:16surprised there. He gave you a -2.6 so.
- 1:21:21Yeah, so I think I was just saying the the theme this week
- 1:21:25seems like these guys that come like out of a bat out of bat out
- 1:21:30of hell. You know, in the beginning of
- 1:21:32the year, like we saw with Jane Baz and we saw with Bryce
- 1:21:36Miller. Bryce Miller has some really
- 1:21:37good starts early on. Shane Baz looks like he actually
- 1:21:41put it together right up until about this point.
- 1:21:44So the the shame bad experience, I think is over.
- 1:21:46I think that the Bryce Mill experience is over.
- 1:21:49The Max Mayor experience is over.
- 1:21:51You know, these are guys that are very young.
- 1:21:53They're still young and and they're going to be just fine.
- 1:21:56I think long term, I think they're all very rosterable
- 1:21:59still too by by all means because of their upside.
- 1:22:03You know, and we see it in little little sparks and these
- 1:22:10are guys that are probably about a year or two out from really
- 1:22:13putting it together like we're seeing with like hunter green.
- 1:22:16I mean you can throw even like Mackenzie Gore this year is
- 1:22:18having kind of a a nice like pick up year a little bit from
- 1:22:21last year. Clearly has ace stuff when he
- 1:22:24puts together and I think, you know, these three guys have as
- 1:22:29good as stuff as those guys. So maybe they're just a year
- 1:22:33off. You know, you can throw Jack
- 1:22:35Leiter in that conversation too. Came out, got hurt, has putting
- 1:22:38it back together since he's come back from the IL.
- 1:22:42You know, this is what happens in fantasy.
- 1:22:44We we react too fast sometimes. It's, you know, you got to you
- 1:22:48got to hold, you just got to stick with it.
- 1:22:50And you know, it's it's sometimes frustrating because
- 1:22:54you get excited about these guys that perform well and then they
- 1:22:57just fall off a Cliff. You really thought you got like
- 1:22:59a bargain in the draft or you got to steal pick up.
- 1:23:02But in reality, you just got it at the right window at the right
- 1:23:04time. And then the most important part
- 1:23:06is to know when to move those guys too.
- 1:23:11Yeah, no, I I totally agree. You know, I still think like you
- 1:23:15said, I think like next year, Bryce Miller will probably
- 1:23:19really put it together. I think he's a solid arm.
- 1:23:21Shane Baz, when he's healthy and he's on, he's he's a great
- 1:23:24pitcher. You know, Tampa Bay knows what
- 1:23:26they're doing. So it's just they just I mean,
- 1:23:30on the flip side of that, their their offense is amazing.
- 1:23:33Like again, they're on a team where if you giving up two or
- 1:23:36three runs, chances are you're probably not going to get a win.
- 1:23:40And unfortunately in fantasy, especially in points leagues
- 1:23:43like wins are pretty valuable. And I I don't know, it's like,
- 1:23:48do I want a Baz or do I want, you know, a mediocre pitcher who
- 1:23:54can go out there and pitch for a good offense and get me the win?
- 1:23:56You know, and chances are you're probably going to want the
- 1:23:59mediocre pitcher, right? But looks like we missed that.
- 1:24:09We just dropped the Mikey V. He will be back in a second, he
- 1:24:14said. Pesky Internet connection.
- 1:24:16There he is, Mikey V. Yeah, like, like, he said, yeah,
- 1:24:20those are the guys that I'd rather have as the pitcher.
- 1:24:25So yeah, good stuff, great conversations have.
- 1:24:30I mean, you know, it'll be interesting to see who makes it
- 1:24:32next week. But yeah, let's move on and
- 1:24:36let's just go into to a Wheeling and Wheeling, right?
- 1:24:41Wheeling. So last week we had said sell
- 1:24:51high on it's always going to be two batters and a pitcher,
- 1:24:54right? So these are players that in our
- 1:24:56opinion had great weeks and you should sell them because they
- 1:25:00had a great week because they'll probably end up turning it
- 1:25:03around and not having a great couple weeks after ourselves.
- 1:25:06So sell them high, right? So last week we had Michael
- 1:25:09Harris. I think he had something like, I
- 1:25:12don't know, 2526 points. Last week he gave you 6.
- 1:25:18So I think that window of selling high on him might be
- 1:25:20gone. Bellinger we did say sell high,
- 1:25:23but I think he might be finding a stride.
- 1:25:24So I wouldn't mind if you held them.
- 1:25:26I think we said that too. Maybe hold him if you want to.
- 1:25:28He gave you 22 points last week, so that was pretty good.
- 1:25:32And Luis Castille, I think he gave you 25 points.
- 1:25:35He got the win last week, 2 weeks ago.
- 1:25:38Last week he only gave you eight points.
- 1:25:41It's nothing crazy to write about, right?
- 1:25:43And then on the flip side of that, we had some guys that were
- 1:25:45by lows. So those were guys that kind of
- 1:25:48gave you that did give you single digit points for last
- 1:25:52week that we knew could probably turn together based off their
- 1:25:55track record. And for this one, we actually
- 1:25:58got re nailed this one I would say, right, We said by low on
- 1:26:01Bryce Harper, what does he do? He goes on, gives you 14 points,
- 1:26:04solid 14 points, right? We said by low on Manny
- 1:26:07Picciotto, what does he do? He gives you 24.
- 1:26:11Then we say Bilo and Dylan, C said he pitches almost a no
- 1:26:14hitter 6 plus and he's a no hit. He's still giving 19 points.
- 1:26:18Pretty good. I would say that's that's pretty
- 1:26:20good, pretty solid. No, I I think you're right on
- 1:26:24that. Yeah, I think Michael Harris's
- 1:26:26window is closing. You know, if you're a Michael
- 1:26:29Harris guy or you see the potential, I think that's
- 1:26:31definitely something that you can definitely move forward
- 1:26:33with. I mean belly man.
- 1:26:35I mean, that ballpark is right for him.
- 1:26:37It's it's right there for him. It's great it.
- 1:26:45It's great. It is a great ballpark to hit
- 1:26:48from for him. His swing is nice.
- 1:26:51It's a great line up. I think he fits in that line up.
- 1:26:54So I I totally do agree that Cody Bounder to me, I think in
- 1:26:59our last segment we had said to hold them.
- 1:27:03If you want to hold them, sell them if you want to sell them,
- 1:27:06wouldn't hate you either way. And I I totally agree with that.
- 1:27:11I would probably I have held on to them.
- 1:27:13I do own Cody Ballinger one of my points leagues, which I am
- 1:27:17going to be 6 and one after this week, which is nice.
- 1:27:19It's a it's our money league. But yeah, no, I totally agree
- 1:27:22with with that and I would definitely, definitely hold on
- 1:27:26to him for sure. Cody, I think Cody Ballinger is
- 1:27:28a holder. Again, if you could get your
- 1:27:30hands on a Bryce Hopper or Manny Machado or Dylan Cease and pay,
- 1:27:34you know, pay a player that you drafted later on for somebody
- 1:27:40that was drafted earlier and maybe get a steal on them.
- 1:27:42I I think you take it me, I'm a I'm a guy that loves
- 1:27:45consistency. Those are consistent guys,
- 1:27:47right? Not as not as consistent as it
- 1:27:50used to be, right? I think Bryce Hopper is kind of
- 1:27:52not that top five first baseman and we're seeing that, right?
- 1:27:57We're seeing age and then progression kind of kick in with
- 1:27:59him. But Manny Machado, again, older,
- 1:28:02like those are older veteran hitters, but they're consistent.
- 1:28:06And I would definitely, if you can't maybe put a package
- 1:28:09together for him, it's not going to hurt you.
- 1:28:11I mean, they're great hitters. They play in great line UPS.
- 1:28:15I mean, you could make the case maybe the Phillies are
- 1:28:17underperforming a little bit, but who's to say?
- 1:28:20I mean, it's tough because you know, they're getting crushed by
- 1:28:24the Indians right now. Nola's out of the game.
- 1:28:26He didn't look good at all. Again, you got he's been night
- 1:28:29and day. So I mean, that's a guy that I'm
- 1:28:33sure owners would love to move. It's just tough to move them
- 1:28:36because when you going to have the chance to, you know what I
- 1:28:40mean? All right, so we discussed all
- 1:28:47that. We're still waiting for my TV to
- 1:28:48get back in on us. I think he just had to restart
- 1:28:51his computer, which is what it is.
- 1:28:56But I do have two cell highs and two that are batters. 1 cell
- 1:29:02high. That's a pitcher.
- 1:29:03Again, these are guys that have really good weeks that we know
- 1:29:06just can't continue that traction and if you can get rid
- 1:29:11of them and you can get somebody better for them or or somebody
- 1:29:14that is a little more steady, pull the trigger and do it.
- 1:29:18So once we get Mike EV back, I'll just start letting it RIP
- 1:29:22and we'll talk about some of these sell high candidates or I
- 1:29:24can just jump right in. Oh, why don't I just jump right
- 1:29:26in right now? All right, so I have for my
- 1:29:30first sell high candidate based off of last week is Maddie
- 1:29:35Chapman. She's coming at no surprise.
- 1:29:38Giants third baseman Matt Chapman is 85% owned.
- 1:29:41He had a really good week for his standards.
- 1:29:43Right bet at 318. Two home runs, 7 ribbies, seven
- 1:29:47runs scored, one stolen base, 7 strikeouts and 22 at bats. 32
- 1:29:53points. He gave you 5.3 a start in a in
- 1:29:56a points league, that 5.3 every time you started and put them in
- 1:29:59your line up. That's, I mean, that's a great
- 1:30:02number that's untouchable really.
- 1:30:04I mean, that's tough to do, but we always say it, this guy can
- 1:30:08kill you in a week. And just like last week, he
- 1:30:11finished the week with -3 points last week and he made the who's
- 1:30:15not list. So I think this is a chance to
- 1:30:20move on from a guy you weren't really sold on to begin with,
- 1:30:23right? And and maybe try to get a
- 1:30:26consistent option. The the Giants lineup isn't
- 1:30:29necessarily the best lineup either.
- 1:30:31So I think he's still a good bat, but if there's ever a time
- 1:30:35to move on, this would be it. He's got 42 KS on the year and
- 1:30:40132 at batch, which is over a strikeout a game.
- 1:30:43He's giving you right? Why not try to move on from him?
- 1:30:48Third base is a is a good third baseman.
- 1:30:50It's hard to find. I'm not saying he's horrible.
- 1:30:52I'm just, I'm just saying, you know, based off where you
- 1:30:55drafted him, now would be a great time to try to trade him
- 1:30:58or sell high on him, maybe get a good, maybe a decent arm form or
- 1:31:03something. You know, there are Matt Chapman
- 1:31:05fans out there. We've we've seen it.
- 1:31:07So it's all about what, what you want to do or what you think if
- 1:31:12you want to ride and let it ride on Matt Chapman.
- 1:31:15What do you mean where are you going?
- 1:31:18Ben has some Wi-Fi issues. Florida man down there.
- 1:31:23I thought it was going to be a little bit easier.
- 1:31:27Sorry about that. No worries man, I held it down.
- 1:31:29So I went over to Chapman's numbers for last week. 32
- 1:31:32points, 5.3 a start. My opinion on him was I'd sell
- 1:31:37high. I mean he's still a good bat,
- 1:31:38but you know, he has 42 strikeouts on the year and 132
- 1:31:42at bats. He's given you at least a strike
- 1:31:44out a game. Last week he gave you 2 weeks
- 1:31:46ago he gave you a -3 points for the entire week.
- 1:31:48This week he gave you 32. So there was a time to move on
- 1:31:52from him. That would be it. 100% I mean,
- 1:31:56the guy strikes out way too much.
- 1:31:57We already talked about that as 1000 times already.
- 1:32:00And I mean, third base is a tough position if you don't have
- 1:32:03one. So you know, for instance, from
- 1:32:05in my league, I think I got junior Cameron Arrow, who I
- 1:32:08thought was going to be a little bit better going into this
- 1:32:10season and he hasn't been quite as good as I'd like him to be.
- 1:32:14I mean, I picked up Bryce Lewis, you know, he hasn't really been
- 1:32:16doing much since he's come back from his Ielston.
- 1:32:19So there's kind of limited options out there when it comes
- 1:32:22to third base. I mean, Chapman is a cheap
- 1:32:25option. You know, he does have weeks
- 1:32:27like this. We're gonna talk about another
- 1:32:28third baseman that has, you know, kind of similar better,
- 1:32:31better power numbers a little bit for sure.
- 1:32:33But Chapman's your cheaper version though, I feel of that
- 1:32:38other guy. And you can get him at an
- 1:32:40affordable price if you're looking for third base help.
- 1:32:43And if you're a guy that has Matt Chapman, you might be
- 1:32:46starting them. You might be starting them in
- 1:32:47like a first third base utility spot there.
- 1:32:51He's probably expendable on your team if you have them on your
- 1:32:54team. So if you can cash in on
- 1:32:55anything at this point, you know, a little bit of pitching
- 1:32:57help, maybe a different position that you need to fill fits the
- 1:33:02bill. So it could be a win win for
- 1:33:03both guys. Yeah, no, I I totally agree.
- 1:33:07It's going to be interesting to see how he does on the go
- 1:33:11forward. Like I said, it's not a great
- 1:33:13line up. You know, there are some
- 1:33:15surprises, John who we is really wrecking the ball.
- 1:33:19But other than that, I mean Willie Damus is really
- 1:33:21underperformed. He was probably one of the top
- 1:33:23five shortstops off the board. I could have told you he
- 1:33:26shouldn't have been, but he was. So it'll be interesting to see
- 1:33:31where he finishes. We know what his number, I know
- 1:33:33what his numbers are going to be.
- 1:33:34I, you know, I don't think he's going to hit you over 300.
- 1:33:37You know, you might see 270, you might see 2530 home runs maybe,
- 1:33:42but you'll also see 180 strikeouts.
- 1:33:46Oh yeah, all of that. Yeah, All right.
- 1:33:50And so like you had said, we'll stay in the realm of third
- 1:33:53baseman and another third baseman who had a great week.
- 1:33:57But someone who, if there was an opportunity to kind of move from
- 1:34:01him, why not do it? There he is, Braves start
- 1:34:04baseman Austin Riley. He's 95.7% owned.
- 1:34:08So he had a monster week last week for them.
- 1:34:10You know, 310, two home runs, five rabies, five runs of stolen
- 1:34:13base, 8 strikeouts and 29 at bats.
- 1:34:16He gave you 22 total points or 3.1 a start.
- 1:34:20So every day he gave you an average 3.1 for the week.
- 1:34:24Again, another opportunity to move on from a guy that can kill
- 1:34:26you in a week just like Chapman can.
- 1:34:29Very similar, although he did average 3.1 a start this week.
- 1:34:33For the season he's only at 2.1. Plus he has 50 strikeouts in 154
- 1:34:40at bats, so he's giving you over a strikeout a game.
- 1:34:45I think the Braves, they have a huge following in fantasy.
- 1:34:48There's still people out there that think there's hope for them
- 1:34:50to, you know, recreate that magical year they had two years
- 1:34:53ago when everybody just had a career year, everybody.
- 1:34:58But I say move on from him. I'm not a Riley guy.
- 1:35:01I was, I did have him that career year, but I didn't
- 1:35:04redraft him the year after. I think you had him, Mike.
- 1:35:09And yeah, he kind of just crushed you.
- 1:35:11He that's just what Riley does, man.
- 1:35:13It's listen, I think the lineup will get better with Ronald
- 1:35:18Acuna coming back. How much better, I don't know.
- 1:35:23But that's not going to cut down on the strikeouts that Riley's
- 1:35:25going to have. You know, he's still going to
- 1:35:27give you 180 plus strikeouts a year.
- 1:35:30I mean, guy already has 50, so and you're only 1/4 of the way
- 1:35:33through. He's on pace for 200.
- 1:35:36I don't know, I'm not a fan of him.
- 1:35:38I'm not a fan of anybody in that that that Braves line up except
- 1:35:41maybe Ozzy, Alby's and you can make the case Marcelo, Zuna.
- 1:35:45But other than that, I don't like Olson.
- 1:35:48I don't like Riley. I think Hakuna is overrated.
- 1:35:52It is what it is. Yeah, Austin Riley's, I think
- 1:35:56the the cat's out of the bag with Austin Riley.
- 1:35:59I think we know who he is at this point.
- 1:36:02You know, obviously a very talented prospect coming up in
- 1:36:05the organization showed flashes of of incredible power.
- 1:36:10He does hit the ball hard. You got to give him that at
- 1:36:12least. He does hit the ball pretty hard
- 1:36:13when he does hit it. But you can't strike out at a
- 1:36:1630% strikeout rate and be successful in fantasy baseball.
- 1:36:22This is a fantasy baseball show. And that's what it's about.
- 1:36:24You know, we're not calling him out for being a bad baseball
- 1:36:27player. You know, that's not our, that's
- 1:36:29not what we do, you know, but when it comes to fantasy
- 1:36:31baseball and we talk about points and we talk about what it
- 1:36:34does to you, the value of your fantasy team, this guy's not
- 1:36:37good for it. It's still toxic.
- 1:36:39You know, he shows the, the, the flashes and the pans of
- 1:36:43everything that he does. But then once he hits the the
- 1:36:47bottom, he he stays to the bottom for a while.
- 1:36:50So yeah, this is definitely a guy I would move high.
- 1:36:53This is the rich man's Matt Chapman in my opinion, because I
- 1:36:57do think he's like a slightly better version of Matt Chapman.
- 1:37:00But really though, like they're kind of one of the same, even
- 1:37:05though they're in two different classes of each other, I feel,
- 1:37:10which is it's weird. It's it's it's kind of weird.
- 1:37:12You would I would like to actually dig into that a little
- 1:37:14bit more later after the show and stuff.
- 1:37:17I'm going to look that up, I think because damn, they they
- 1:37:21got some weird and at least, you know, Matt Chapman's a Gold
- 1:37:24Glover too, you know, so they're from a baseball perspective.
- 1:37:27I think there's a little bit more value there with it.
- 1:37:29But. But yeah, it's been a
- 1:37:30disappointing kind of career for Austin Riley.
- 1:37:33It's really tough to find a guy that's just going to be
- 1:37:37consistent in and out. You know, we can probably name
- 1:37:3910 guys that are just really consistent in and out and that's
- 1:37:43it. It's tough for a guy to have a
- 1:37:46really good season like they did.
- 1:37:47Like we talked about in the 2021 season when they won the World
- 1:37:51Series and to continue that. It's so tough to ask for.
- 1:37:55And that's why, like when we talked about the Otani trade I
- 1:37:57made last week with Sean for Skeens, it's like, man, the guy
- 1:38:01just went 5050 like he's he's not going to do that every year,
- 1:38:05right, You know, and now it's like, oh, maybe, you know, but
- 1:38:08he looks great, you know, but it's like it's tough to bake on
- 1:38:12guys unless like they're this elite status to have these like
- 1:38:15repeated seasons. You know, you brought up Matt
- 1:38:17Olson. He had those great season.
- 1:38:19He had that fifty home run season, you know, same thing.
- 1:38:222021. Never saw that again.
- 1:38:25Never even came close to that. A cooter obviously has that MVP
- 1:38:29season hasn't even come close to that again either.
- 1:38:33So it's it's kind of when I say 21, is it 23 that they won?
- 1:38:39Was it only two years ago that they won?
- 1:38:41Yeah, a couple years. You know, even though they're
- 1:38:44only two years removed, they just never even came close to
- 1:38:47repeating any of that. So, yeah, definitely a guy I'd
- 1:38:50probably move on from if you have another option.
- 1:38:52That third base. Third base is tough.
- 1:38:54It's it's hit or miss. It is, it really is.
- 1:38:56I mean, like you said, fantasy perspective though I'd rather
- 1:38:59have awesome Briley in In real baseball, I'd rather have Matt
- 1:39:03Chapman. I like that.
- 1:39:05I respect that. Yeah, All right.
- 1:39:08And for the pitcher aspect of of this, I'm going to go with Woo
- 1:39:14Brian. Woo, the Woo man young guy.
- 1:39:18Listen, I'm not saying he's bad, but again, hear me out, right?
- 1:39:21Brian Woo, he's only he's 86% owned and ESPN leagues.
- 1:39:25He wouldn't want to know in two starts, 12 and a 30 and he's
- 1:39:28pitched 14 strikeouts, one walk, 5 earned, gave you 29.92 points.
- 1:39:34That was against the Rangers. He shot out the Rangers.
- 1:39:37He gave up five earned against the A's.
- 1:39:40Again, this was a guy that was drafted really late.
- 1:39:42I think round 16 in our draft, right?
- 1:39:45Pretty Goodyear going right now, 4 and 144 strikeouts and 44
- 1:39:50innings. He's got a 325 ERA.
- 1:39:53His wins came against underperforming teams, right?
- 1:39:56He beat the Rangers twice. He beat Boston when they were
- 1:39:58scuffling at the beginning of the year and he beat the ASI.
- 1:40:02Think you could potentially get a great bat for him, especially
- 1:40:05with good pitching being so tough to get.
- 1:40:07I could totally understand why we would want to hold them, but
- 1:40:09I'm just I'm not sold yet, right?
- 1:40:11I think you have to show me a few more wins from a a few good
- 1:40:14teams before you put them in that category of, hey, I'm going
- 1:40:18to keep it hold. Like I said, he did beat Boston,
- 1:40:21but that was early April, so it was earlier and that's when they
- 1:40:25were scuffling. So I do like him.
- 1:40:27I think he's good. He's still really young.
- 1:40:31I but like I said, I mean, this is for a guy you drafted in, you
- 1:40:34know, the 14th, 15th, 16th round, you could really get a
- 1:40:39really good hitter for him. I think, you know, you could
- 1:40:41probably get a 10 round hitter for him.
- 1:40:43I would I would try to pull the trigger on it because chances
- 1:40:45are this guy's riding your bench anyways unless he's a two start
- 1:40:48pitcher. So Doug, I'm going to disagree.
- 1:40:55I think Brandon Lewis having a little bit of a breakout year
- 1:40:57this year. I think this is his coming out
- 1:40:59party this year. You know, I'm looking at his
- 1:41:01numbers. He's 4 and 144 keys.
- 1:41:04He's a strikeout per running guy.
- 1:41:05He's got 44 innings, right? So that's what you look for in a
- 1:41:08pitcher. That's what we want.
- 1:41:10He only has eight walks as well, so he's going to 44 to 8 ratio,
- 1:41:15which is a really, really good ratio.
- 1:41:17That's, that's pretty good. I mean, his whip, it's under A1.
- 1:41:21It's not, it's a .92 so far this year.
- 1:41:24So there's no like, you know, it's not a .3 where it's like,
- 1:41:28OK, this guy's getting a little lucky here and there.
- 1:41:30You know, maybe he's walking guys giving up too many hits or
- 1:41:32anything like that. It's not the case.
- 1:41:34He's not putting in baserunners. So that's really promising to me
- 1:41:39and I had that lucky guy to have him was also me in that 16th
- 1:41:43round. I know and and he has been
- 1:41:47pretty good. I feel like in my rotation he's
- 1:41:49got 109 points. You know, I think we talked
- 1:41:53about him last week a little bit.
- 1:41:54We said, hey, after his start this week, he's going to be
- 1:41:56right in that top 1515 category. Well, right after that start, he
- 1:42:00was actually in the top 10 as of today in our league.
- 1:42:03He is actually 15th. So spot on with that.
- 1:42:07That's great because I do think he's going to stay there.
- 1:42:09I think this is kind of like his wheelhouse right there.
- 1:42:12I don't think he's going to be a top ten pitcher by any means.
- 1:42:14That's not what I'm saying. But I do think what he's doing
- 1:42:17in Seattle and Seattle's playing better baseball too.
- 1:42:20You know, baseball's starting to heat up in Seattle.
- 1:42:23That's why I say you ship Devers to Seattle.
- 1:42:26That's where you send them. You get one of these guys back.
- 1:42:28You know, I mean, Devers is elite.
- 1:42:30You can maybe even get like a George Kirby, Logan Gilbert back
- 1:42:33matching him in a Red Sox uniform.
- 1:42:35But let me let me go back to the point though.
- 1:42:37Brandon Wu, you can sell them right now and you can sell them
- 1:42:40high and you will probably get something good for him.
- 1:42:43But I don't think, again, there's a bad move here.
- 1:42:46If you want to move on from him and get something that you want,
- 1:42:48that's cool. But if you hold on to him, maybe
- 1:42:51don't have these ridiculous high expectations like I do right
- 1:42:54now, be a little bit more realistic.
- 1:42:56You know, the 5-6 innings, maybe two or three runs per game.
- 1:43:01You know, he's still going to strike out guys, and if Seattle
- 1:43:04can continue playing like they had been, they're gonna, you
- 1:43:08know, steal some wins. So I think losing a pretty
- 1:43:10decent spot right now, definitely worth having on your
- 1:43:13team. I'm OK with the weekly league
- 1:43:15having him in the rotation. And I'm glad you mentioned the
- 1:43:18schedule too, though, because before the show I looked it up
- 1:43:21and he's actually got the Yankees and his next outing and
- 1:43:23I believe his start after that is San Diego.
- 1:43:27So the challenges that you're looking for he's about to get.
- 1:43:30So this might be the time to trade him because he does have
- 1:43:34some tough matchups coming down the road.
- 1:43:35He does pitch Tuesday. I don't know if they have a day
- 1:43:38off in between. That might make him a two start
- 1:43:40this week, which is a really tough two start.
- 1:43:42I hope it's not. I think next week he'll be A2
- 1:43:45starter, so it's a little easier.
- 1:43:49But at the same time though, he is going to be playing San Diego
- 1:43:51right off the bat. And I believe if it's San Diego,
- 1:43:54I think after that it'd be the Chicago White Sox.
- 1:43:57So it's a little easier buffer than the Yankees and San Diego.
- 1:44:02But regardless, he's going to be playing some tough teams.
- 1:44:05And if you don't believe he's the real deal, you trade him
- 1:44:07now. And if you do, you hold on to
- 1:44:09him. I'll I'll be hitting the trade
- 1:44:12button if I was anybody. We'll be talking about it next
- 1:44:16week. He's going to make the cold list
- 1:44:18next week like he's going to get rocked by the Yankees.
- 1:44:21Stop it. He's.
- 1:44:22Going to he's going 5 Ern against the A's five Ern.
- 1:44:27Dude, the A's are good. I love the A's.
- 1:44:30I think they're I grew. A fun team, but they're not.
- 1:44:33They're not good. They're not going to make the
- 1:44:34playoffs. I don't know, maybe they.
- 1:44:39Just they're fun. I think their offense is, is is
- 1:44:42is decent, but I think their pitching is, you know, JP Sears
- 1:44:45isn't going to go out there when you're Cy Young.
- 1:44:49Not yet, not yet. No, No, he's not there yet.
- 1:44:53He's not there either. Or Bebo isn't going to go out
- 1:44:55there when you're when you're Cy Young.
- 1:44:57I mean, I mean, the athletics are in second place right now,
- 1:45:00only three games back. I mean, they're not they're,
- 1:45:03they're, they're hanging in there.
- 1:45:04They're over 500. That's that's more than some
- 1:45:07teams can say. It's true, it's true.
- 1:45:09But we'll, we'll see what happens, I mean.
- 1:45:12Jacob Wilson. Jacob Wilson.
- 1:45:15It's a fun team. It is a fun team.
- 1:45:17But I I mean, obviously I don't see him making the playoffs, not
- 1:45:20yet anyways. It might be a couple years away,
- 1:45:23but you know, it is what it is. I still say you sell on Brian
- 1:45:26Woo, but we'll see how he does. You know, maybe he'll go out and
- 1:45:29pitch a gem against the Yankees and then I'll come back here
- 1:45:31next week, next Friday and say, well, you know what?
- 1:45:33I was wrong and I will show this clip.
- 1:45:36But he rocked. I'm going to say I was right and
- 1:45:40then I'm going to show this clip.
- 1:45:44Either way, you're getting the clip.
- 1:45:46It's true, man. You're, you're going to see it.
- 1:45:47I I need to make sure I time stamp it and I went 45 right?
- 1:45:51I went 45. It's an easy number to remember.
- 1:45:56We'll go back. We'll go back to this.
- 1:45:58We got 15 minutes. Let's go right into some of the
- 1:46:02by lows I have first and foremost, and you might be
- 1:46:08saying well why is this a buy low?
- 1:46:09Let me go over his numbers and you'll understand right?
- 1:46:12It's the Big Bear. He's only DH eligible.
- 1:46:15That's another reason why he could probably buy low on him.
- 1:46:18You can only play him in utility spot or DH.
- 1:46:21Marcelo Zuna 86% on he hit 250, no one runs, one ribby, one run
- 1:46:27scored, no stolen bases, 8 strikeouts and 24 at bats. 6
- 1:46:30points though, so it's not he'd be any negative.
- 1:46:33I think he had a few rough weeks, you know, last week and
- 1:46:36the week before, but he's still averaging 2.3 year, 2.3 a start.
- 1:46:40Excuse me for the year which is still anything over.
- 1:46:44I think like 2.2 is is decent, 2.3 is startable.
- 1:46:49I mean the only reason I would buy low on him is because to me
- 1:46:52last year he was the best hitter in that Braves line up.
- 1:46:55Without a doubt, hands down the best hitter and I think when
- 1:46:59Hakuna is back in that line up, you should see his numbers go
- 1:47:01up. Now this was a guy that was
- 1:47:02drafted in eight to 10th round, which tells me you might be able
- 1:47:07to give up someone you got much later in the rounds form, right?
- 1:47:11I mean, the guy does have 31 walks and 32 strikeouts, so I'd
- 1:47:15buy low on them. I would, you know, maybe a Brian
- 1:47:19Wu. That fits the bill.
- 1:47:22I like the Brian Wu drop there. Yeah.
- 1:47:25I mean, the Big Bear, he's just a kind of a consistent guy.
- 1:47:29He is kind of like your modern day JD Martinez right now, isn't
- 1:47:32he? Just the power that he brings
- 1:47:34with it and the veteran leadership that he's got a
- 1:47:37little bit now. He's been in the league for a
- 1:47:39little bit. Always a nice bat to have.
- 1:47:42Like you said, the utility just being DH is kind of a wrench in
- 1:47:46it. There's a couple other guys that
- 1:47:47kind of fit that too. You know, I think Brent Broker
- 1:47:49is also another guy that kind of has the same issue.
- 1:47:53It's a very good bat, but it's just you only got one place for
- 1:47:57him and you're just going to have to, you know, fill it,
- 1:47:59which is OK. You know, if you're producing,
- 1:48:00you're producing still, right? But yeah, I think if there's
- 1:48:05going to be any light on that Braves team, I know they picked
- 1:48:08it up a little bit recently, but it's Ozuno.
- 1:48:11Ozuno is still just a, he's just a good hitter.
- 1:48:14He just knows how to hit the ball well.
- 1:48:16You know, I brought up Monday, JD Martinez, you know, I don't
- 1:48:21think he has as many or will have as many, but like a Nelson
- 1:48:24Cruz type, just like just a big bat in your lineup.
- 1:48:28And he hits for a good average too.
- 1:48:30He doesn't like, you know, chunk changey on that.
- 1:48:33He does hit for decent average. So yeah, definitely a guy.
- 1:48:36I had one on my team, Brandon Wu.
- 1:48:39I don't I don't hate it. I'll be honest with you, Doug.
- 1:48:42Tim sent me a trade. It's Brandon Wu too.
- 1:48:46He wanted to trade Brandon Nemo. He sent me a trade earlier I
- 1:48:52think this morning. I got it and it was Nimmo was in
- 1:48:55in somebody else and it was for a pitcher.
- 1:48:57So he's obviously trying to build up his rotation.
- 1:49:00He sent me, two of them. He sent me.
- 1:49:02Right away. He sent me, it was one for one
- 1:49:05for Woo and then it was one for one for Freddy Peralta, but it
- 1:49:08was also Nemo. I don't think he he doesn't
- 1:49:11understand. I don't need an outfielder.
- 1:49:13I only understand that Nemo isn't really that good.
- 1:49:17Nimmo's 29 point game he he's really not that good, no.
- 1:49:23His his OBP is like 270 I think it's it's super low.
- 1:49:27Oh, Casey Miz and Brandon Nemo for Shoda, no.
- 1:49:34Casey Mitch is also one of those guys too.
- 1:49:36We were talking about the Max Mayers and and those guys like
- 1:49:40Casey's the same boat. He hasn't shown it the whole
- 1:49:43entire year yet to to earn Now those stripes.
- 1:49:47That's a that's a wishy washy pitcher right now.
- 1:49:50Yeah, wishy wash. Yeah, all.
- 1:49:52Right. So we got about 10 minutes.
- 1:49:53So let me just, you know, just drive through this and and the
- 1:49:57next one is just for the sake of the segment.
- 1:49:58All right, hear me out. You know the man here he is.
- 1:50:04Threw his outfield Jackson trio. He's 97.9% owned.
- 1:50:08He was almost 100%. I think all great players of
- 1:50:13Freddy Freeman, Jose Ramirez, they're all 99.8% owned.
- 1:50:17He was 99.8% owned. He that doesn't have to drop to
- 1:50:2097.9. Not a good week, I guess a so so
- 1:50:25week I take it back 217 no home runs, no ribbies, two runs, 3
- 1:50:28strikeouts, 23 at bats. He gave you 9 points right 1.5 a
- 1:50:32start. I think the problem with keeping
- 1:50:34players after a great rookie year is that you really don't
- 1:50:36know what you'll get. You know, are they going to
- 1:50:39continue the tier? Are they going to drop and and
- 1:50:42be the, you know, the player that you might not expect them
- 1:50:47to be? Like there's so many question
- 1:50:48marks when it comes to that stuff.
- 1:50:50So, you know, I think for a player that you either kept or
- 1:50:56drafted in the third round, he's underperforming.
- 1:50:58No doubt about that. It's the guy that was drafted in
- 1:51:00probably the top three rounds. He was kept in our league.
- 1:51:03He is underperforming. Don't give me, I'm not saying
- 1:51:06he's bad. You know, he's still averaged
- 1:51:072.5 a start, but he's batting 256.
- 1:51:11Let's be honest. And let's not forget about
- 1:51:14Corbin Carroll. You know, he was in a similar
- 1:51:16thing last year, right? Obviously it was way worse.
- 1:51:19So, you know, Corbin's first two months were horrible, but they
- 1:51:24weren't overall, I think the numbers weren't where you get
- 1:51:28these players at. You know, these second year
- 1:51:30players. This is this is, you know, you
- 1:51:33kind of question it, right? If you draft them early, you
- 1:51:36keep them. You're expecting somebody to be
- 1:51:38hot right out the gate. And you know, he struck out four
- 1:51:41times the first game of the year did hit a couple home runs that
- 1:51:44week, which was nice. But I feel like owners would
- 1:51:48more than likely right now entertain offers for him.
- 1:51:51You know, maybe a 2 for one or something.
- 1:51:52But I think you you do entertain a couple offers for him.
- 1:51:56I wouldn't surprise me. You have to right, because he's
- 1:51:58not the guy you got. You own them.
- 1:52:00Would you if someone gave you a 2 for one?
- 1:52:03And I'm not talking about like trashy 2 for ones.
- 1:52:05I'm talking about like good, decent 2 for ones.
- 1:52:08Would you? You have to you.
- 1:52:09What would you do? Stuff, I mean, in in our league
- 1:52:15specifically, it's a keeper league.
- 1:52:18I just drafted Cheerio. We have a two year limit on how
- 1:52:20many guys you know you can keep. So I can keep him for two years.
- 1:52:23So I'm not really looking to move Cheerio right now because I
- 1:52:27think he's one of those guys. I think I might depending on how
- 1:52:30he finishes the year. Look, last year he he had a
- 1:52:33tough start in the year last year too, in his rookie season
- 1:52:37and but really, really picked it up at the end of the year and
- 1:52:41really came full circle. And he had a great spring this
- 1:52:44year and he came out really high of the gates.
- 1:52:46And you're going to have these waves of of ups and downs just
- 1:52:50like every other player does. But you know, I'm looking at his
- 1:52:53stats today. He's got three hits today.
- 1:52:55He only struck out once and he's got two stolen bases and he's
- 1:52:59he's got a run. So like he's he's back producing
- 1:53:01it looks like, which is great. No, I don't think I'm going to
- 1:53:05move him even in like a a standard league.
- 1:53:07Re draft leagues, I don't think I'd move them either because
- 1:53:11outfield is one of those flaky positions.
- 1:53:13It's it tears off at the very end too.
- 1:53:16You know, I do think there's like good 1520 outfielders that
- 1:53:19are that are solid and then there's a big dip.
- 1:53:22So unless like I'm getting like you said, 2 elite guys back in
- 1:53:27return, Cheerio probably went, you know, second, third round or
- 1:53:30so in drafts. You know, my capital is still
- 1:53:33high on him because I know what a ceiling is.
- 1:53:35He's a 5 two player. I'm probably not going to move
- 1:53:38him. I I think he's just too good.
- 1:53:40You said the same thing about Corbin Carroll last year.
- 1:53:43Yeah, well, look how he's doing now.
- 1:53:49If you were to keep a league and you.
- 1:53:52Know you wouldn't be out of this world to at least entertain
- 1:53:55offers. I'm not saying you move them,
- 1:53:57I'm just saying you're you. You'd entertain offers more now
- 1:54:00than you would at the beginning of the year.
- 1:54:02Yeah, you know what it is though, too.
- 1:54:03Like I, I, we, we do the same fantasy league.
- 1:54:07You and I both know I would not get the right value for Jackson
- 1:54:09Cheerio in our league. No, like it's I'm going to call,
- 1:54:12I'm going to call out our league a little bit.
- 1:54:14We we send some bad offers and it's like, so like I love to
- 1:54:20talk about it and I love to entertain it like with you.
- 1:54:22And I like realistically like like we're doing now.
- 1:54:26But in our league specifically, it's like, it's like, come on,
- 1:54:31Brandon Nemo for Freddy Peralta, like Brandon Nemo for like
- 1:54:35Brandon Wu, like like what are we talking?
- 1:54:39Like, like if we put up, if we put up a poll dog on Facebook
- 1:54:42and said, would you do this trade?
- 1:54:45We would get wrecked on it. People would be like, are you
- 1:54:47kidding me? You know, But then we play with
- 1:54:50people that are think it's OK. He's trying to see what he.
- 1:54:54Can get he's trying to throw shit at a wall and see what
- 1:54:56sticks is what he's trying to do.
- 1:54:59I mean if you take away Nimmo's 29 point game, the guy's
- 1:55:02averaging probably like 1.7. It's like it's, it's not.
- 1:55:04He's a free agent drop. So bad like.
- 1:55:08But let's let's go get this last guy in.
- 1:55:10We got 5 minutes here. I got Tony G, He's 40% owned, so
- 1:55:15if you don't own him, if he's not owned in the league, I think
- 1:55:17you pick him up. He's a buy low guy.
- 1:55:19He's just coming back from injury.
- 1:55:20Obviously. He's got two starts against
- 1:55:22Miami. One was a no decision, one was a
- 1:55:24win. It's Miami, I get it.
- 1:55:26His real test is going to come this weekend, Sunday he's going
- 1:55:29against Arizona. Really good team.
- 1:55:31You saw what they did to Yamamoto so this is going to be
- 1:55:32interesting to see what they do to him.
- 1:55:35His last start against Miami wasn't no decision.
- 1:55:37He went 5 innings, 8 strikeouts, two walks to earn.
- 1:55:41Gave up to earn it. Still still got a no decision,
- 1:55:43which was kind of weird. You figure that offense would
- 1:55:45come into play, but it didn't. 8.4 points To me this is more of
- 1:55:50a must add as opposed to a buy load type guy.
- 1:55:53But if he is owned in your league you could probably get
- 1:55:56him really cheap. Like like now's the time.
- 1:55:59But. And I looked at his healthy
- 1:56:00numbers and they blow me away. When he was healthy in 20/22/16
- 1:56:04and 1A21 ERAA 130 innings pitched and 119 strikeouts.
- 1:56:10He won 16 games and 130 innings pitched.
- 1:56:14Pitchers can't even win 16 games with 200 innings pitched, man,
- 1:56:19and that was a with with Ala team offense that is nowhere
- 1:56:23near as a lead as it is right now.
- 1:56:25So let that sit in. The offense is better.
- 1:56:28So I think the winds will be there.
- 1:56:30I'm a fan. I'm by and low if I can back
- 1:56:32from injury. 16 and 1214. Take them.
- 1:56:37Take them if you can and run. I'll keep it short and sweet.
- 1:56:40I'll buy them if I don't have any other Dodger pictures on my
- 1:56:42roster. That's fair.
- 1:56:46They're all good. They all get hurt.
- 1:56:48Like once they start getting better, it's good to have just
- 1:56:51one. But now that they're out, if you
- 1:56:53could have one, you know, a couple of the healthy ones,
- 1:56:55they're getting two starts a week now because they're they're
- 1:56:58low. So all their pitches are going
- 1:56:59just, you know, 5 instead of a six man rotation.
- 1:57:01It's 5 right now. So like I said, he's making two
- 1:57:04starts this week, right? He he played against man earlier
- 1:57:07this week, got the no decision. Probably should have got the win
- 1:57:09in my opinion, but it is what it is.
- 1:57:11And now he's he's going up against Arizona Sunday.
- 1:57:14It's a good match. That's going to be a great game
- 1:57:16because he's pitching against a red hot Zach Gallon who was two
- 1:57:21in his last two starts. So that is going to be a great
- 1:57:24Sunday game to watch. If you're obviously, I'm pretty
- 1:57:28sure 90% of fantasy owners have one person from either of those
- 1:57:31teams, anybody from the Dodgers lineup or anybody from Arizona.
- 1:57:36So it's going to be a great game to watch for Sunday.
- 1:57:38I, I'm hopefully, I know it's Mother's Day.
- 1:57:40I think my wife wants to, my wife's going to the zoo with her
- 1:57:44mother and, and I'm trying to get sick and stay home.
- 1:57:48So I think Covid's still going around.
- 1:57:51I'm not sure. You guys still do COVID in
- 1:57:54Massachusetts? I don't know it's it's either
- 1:57:56COVID or one or the other. I think they're the same, but
- 1:57:59who knows. And the Bolton sound great.
- 1:58:03No, but all right, we got that. That's pretty much it.
- 1:58:06I got to wrap it up quick. We only got a couple minutes.
- 1:58:08Our intro's over a minute long, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
