Transcript
- 0:28This is the Treehouse Podcast. I'm Dan, O'Malley, Trey Trenholme is here
- 0:33as well, and Alfie Coy, who apparently has decided to run a foul
- 0:41of the law a little bit. Stop phrasing him like that. There was
- 0:44no run a foul. There's just an odd encounter. Put it the odd
- 0:50encounter with the law. Yeah, well, allow me to just sit back
- 0:56and enjoy the tale. Y'all ever been in a situation with a police officer
- 1:03where you want to put them at ease? Yet you know that if you
- 1:07try to put them at ease, it's just going to make things worse,
- 1:11and potentially like way worse. I will say yes, and with a with
- 1:15a slight twist, because we throughout our careers have known and still do know
- 1:23and consider friends many police officers. And it's different when and when I'm hanging
- 1:33out or talking to one of my friends who's a cop, because I don't
- 1:36want to put them at ease. I love putting them through their ringer because
- 1:38that's what I you know, just because it's the rare opportunity to do that
- 1:42to an officer. So if one's your friend and I feel obligated to really
- 1:47give them a good old fashioned hard time. However, if I'm talking to
- 1:51a police officer that I don't know, and especially if it's in some sort
- 1:55of official capacity, yeah I am. I am a cupcake exactly. I
- 1:59think that there's a lot of things that police officers have to deal with,
- 2:05and I think that there's all sorts of things that they encounter and are kind
- 2:10of given over the course of their careers that really can make them on edge
- 2:17under the wrong circumstances. Hell even paranoid and under the wrong circumstances. And
- 2:23I don't want to add to that during any encounter with the police. Is
- 2:28that why when you see a cop you don't know, you start out by
- 2:30saying, what up? Player? Yes, hey, yo, going on?
- 2:36Okay, so see you walking up to my car with your finance.
- 2:40Yeah, they don't like that. Last Saturday, I was out hanging out
- 2:46with one of my friends and we were we went to like a taco shop,
- 2:51right, and we're hanging out in this parking lot outside this restaurant and
- 2:57it's probably like, I don't know, two thirty in the more something like
- 3:00that, and we're just chit chatting, you know, shooting the s and
- 3:07so you're in a parking lot at two thirty in the morning. Yeah,
- 3:09yeah, but it's well lit. It's not like it's you know, an
- 3:13empty well. I guess it is empty, but it's it's a well lit
- 3:15parking lot. And it's not you you think it. You think there's nothing
- 3:20wrong with it because there's lighting. Yes, exactly, there's a lot of
- 3:23light. Good to go, And uh, all of a sudden a DPD
- 3:28squad car rolls by. And it's not all of a sudden, that's that's
- 3:32trust me, that's on their normal patrol. Yeah, it's commonplace. And
- 3:38the DPD squad car pulls in the parking lot. I think, okay,
- 3:40they must be going to you know, a water burger or something down the
- 3:45street on the other side of the parking lot. It's something I don't know,
- 3:46right, And real quick, just for clarification, you're you're talking about
- 3:51Dallas Police DPD. Yes, Dallas Police. I figured that's what it was.
- 3:54But I didn't want someone you know, at Duncan God saying hey,
- 3:58that wouldn't me or didn't. Uh. So this DPD squad car pulls in
- 4:02the parking lot and all of a sudden, they like stop and kind of
- 4:08make a you turn towards me and my friend, you don't say, and
- 4:12the squad car pulls up, and I'm immediately thinking, where are my hands?
- 4:15Where are my hands? Where am I? I'm not the weed,
- 4:20You're the weed one dan zip it up. So I got a taco for
- 4:28you. This police officer happens to be female. She rolls up, rolls
- 4:36down her You say, it happens to be almost even like, yeah,
- 4:40no, I gotta taco. She rolls up, rolls down her window and
- 4:46goes, hey, uh, y'all be careful, don't get assaulted. I'm
- 4:51like, what, wow, okay, do me a favor. Back up
- 4:58about ten seconds and then it that again. She rolls up, rolls out
- 5:01her window and goes, hey, y'all be careful, don't get assaulted.
- 5:06And we're thinking, what does that? What does that even mean? Is
- 5:12that a warning or is it a threat? Exactly? We're in a parking
- 5:16lot, and we're in a nice wallet parking lot. It's it's next to
- 5:23like, it's adjacent to a parking garage, right, And this cop goes,
- 5:28yeah, you gotta be careful this time of night. There's all such
- 5:30little places for people to hide in the bushes and the parking garage and stuff
- 5:33like that. This is a perfect place to get assulted. And I'm like,
- 5:36and then then she just drives off. No. I immediately start trying
- 5:43to like put her fears at ease, But unfortunately the way that I could
- 5:46best put her fears at ease would be the exact wrong thing to do,
- 5:50because you don't want to go to a cop and go it's okay, don't
- 5:54worry, officer, I'm armed, I got a pistol. I don't sweat.
- 6:00I'm pretty sure there's there's lots of evidence out there that you don't just
- 6:03offer up out of nowhere to a police officer. It's I got a gun.
- 6:06No, you're supposed to if you have an LTC and you get pulled
- 6:11over, if you're pulled over on a traffic stop and you are the driver,
- 6:14you are supposed to immediately identify that you have a license to carry,
- 6:17and you're supposed to let them know whether or not you're carrying. But it's
- 6:21not. This is not one of those situations. We're not being pulled over.
- 6:25Cop just approaches in a parking lot and just says, hey, y'all,
- 6:29don't get assaulted. And I wanted to be like, don't worry,
- 6:32it's all good. I'm I'm, I'm cool. But I can't so I
- 6:38just, you know, kept both of my hands on the hood of my
- 6:40car. It was like, don't worry, we won't get assaulted. I
- 6:45appreciate your help. As you look back over yourself back towards her and go,
- 6:48oh, I'm I'm ready, officer. Why are both why why are
- 6:55both of your hands on the hood of your car than just making sure,
- 6:58just making sure what she needs to know where my hands are. She needs
- 7:02to know exactly where my hands are. And that looks so guilty though,
- 7:06I mean, I put yourself in her police shoes. You roll up on
- 7:10this scene of of of of of two people outside of a taco shop in
- 7:15an abandoned but an empty parking lot at two thirty in the morning, albeit
- 7:18well lit, and you roll up, roll your window down, and the
- 7:24first thing one of them does is spread their legs and put their hands on
- 7:27the hood. No, I didn't do that. I didn't assume the position.
- 7:30He I just you know, I had one of my hands in my
- 7:33pocket when she pulled up, and I'm like, all right, let's take
- 7:36my hand out of my pocket immediately, and I know where to put it?
- 7:39You know, where the hell do I? What do I do with
- 7:41my hand now? Right? One hand is on the hood, like I'm
- 7:43standing next to my car, and one of one of my hands is on
- 7:46like the hood right next to the windshield, just kind of leaning against the
- 7:48car. The other hand is free. Yeah, and I don't know what
- 7:51the hell to do with it now, And I'm like, yeah, on
- 7:55your hip or going to look too like coquettish? Or is that going to
- 7:59be uh do you put it behind your head or stuff? That's exactly how
- 8:03do I How do I show her that? Like all? Or you just
- 8:07do like a Forrest Gump and just wave like Hi. Neither of my hands
- 8:11are doing anything uh mischievous or or dangerous. So I just I have one
- 8:16hand leaning on the car and the other hand is kind of set like next
- 8:20to the other hand. Right, Maybe have the other maybe have the free
- 8:22hand like stroke your beard a little. I should have done that. Yeah,
- 8:26that's a good one. That'd have been good. It was, I
- 8:31mean, yeah, sure. But my point is the only reason I asked
- 8:35that is because that could help to sort of complicate the situation, or she's
- 8:39trying to flirt or something like that. Well, I'm not saying like if
- 8:43she was, I mean, maybe she's bad at it, and her idea
- 8:46of flirting is hey, y'all, don't go good assault didn't now, But
- 8:50the flip side would be if you thought she's kind of cute. One is
- 8:52you're trying to make sure that your hands are visible to a police officer.
- 8:54But then if it's a cute cop, now you're like, well, I
- 8:58gotta look kind of cool too. Yeah, I better start flexing. No,
- 9:01officer, I haven't seen any assaults around here. Maybe over in that
- 9:05direction. I'm sorry, officer, but I am licensed for these. Don't
- 9:13laugh at that trade. That's terrible. Now, if I'm sitting here actually
- 9:16trying to analyze what she was doing, she was probably just checking in are
- 9:22these people selling drugs? Are they doing something? You know? Are they
- 9:24about to you know, start doing some some Revershan Park antics out here.
- 9:30This is not at Revershon Park, by the way. So you had you
- 9:33had the colonoscopy, Van I had the colony. Uh, and uh,
- 9:41I get it. She's just doing She's making contact. In fact, I
- 9:43think that's what they call it in law enforcement operations. She is making contact
- 9:48with somebody and she's making sure there's nothing going wrong. You know. That's
- 9:52that's it. But it felt like the most awkward, silliest way to make
- 9:58contact with some buddy, to roll up and go, hey, don't you
- 10:01get assaulted? Well, in a weird way, it's sort of in it's
- 10:05it depends on her delivery. But it sounds like, you know, the
- 10:09early stages of a slasher film, when a group of college students go to
- 10:16some scary po dunk town and the sheriff rose up said, don't know,
- 10:20y'all, go get murdered. No, I'm fishing this weekend, you know,
- 10:22something stupid like that. That's kind of what it sounds like. She
- 10:26sounds like she's she's setting up the story for you to get murdered. And
- 10:31again, I would not be the dumbest victim in the horror movie because I
- 10:37stay strapped. But I can't tell her this. I can't go. Don't
- 10:43worry, officer, you see that that's a pistol. You can't because then
- 10:46I'm gonna get shot. Yeah, yeah, ya, yeah, because at
- 10:50that point, with your freehand, you can't reach into your holster and pull
- 10:52it out. It's like, it's cool. I got a gun. Yeah,
- 10:54don't sweat look at this. Start waving it around like an idiot.
- 10:58That's how you get shot. That's how you interaction. But how else do
- 11:07do you? I think I handle it in the best possible manner, and
- 11:16Trey, I don't know it's a better way to do it. What's a
- 11:18better way? If you're just hanging out in a part you and you,
- 11:20the two y'all are hanging out a parking lot talking I don't know, the
- 11:24Dallas Stars playoff run or something like that, and and you're you're just minding
- 11:30your own business. And then a cop rolls up and goes, hey,
- 11:33you two fellas, don't get assulted. We wouldn't be out that late.
- 11:41We don't know, dude, I'm in bed at like ten. Yeah,
- 11:46I'm damn sure. Not in a parking lot of a taco shot where where
- 11:52outside of my car? I mean, you just hanging out, just hanging
- 11:56out bars or clothes, you know, just I'm wanting to kill time two
- 12:00while all the drunks get home. So that I think is though, is
- 12:03you're the one that actually looks suspicious. I get that. I'm at home
- 12:05already. I'm at home, already complaining about the current season of The Mandalorian.
- 12:11I'm not at at an empty parking lot at two thirty in the morning
- 12:13being looking and possibly acting questionable. I get it. I get that.
- 12:18I it was a scenario in which the police officer was probably right to come
- 12:24up and just make contact and say, hey, everything cool with y'all,
- 12:28But the way that she said it of watch out around here. See all
- 12:33those bushes, you see those the parking garage over there, You see that
- 12:37stop sign. There could be a rascally rabbit hiding behind that stop sign.
- 12:41That's where all of our assaulters are. It just felt so it felt so
- 12:46fake and phony and like forced, Like I don't know again, cops have
- 12:52every right to make contact with somebody, but just come up with a better
- 12:56six qus, a better story, or just say, hey, asked,
- 13:00want to make sure you guys, you know, are all right? That's
- 13:03fine. That to me, that puts me like at extra ease. I'm
- 13:05like, oh, that's so sweet, Na, Na, you know,
- 13:07appreciate you, cop, but don't you get assulted. You better watch out
- 13:13for all these assaulters around here. Okay, so so then tell me what
- 13:16happened after that, after after, after you, after she says that,
- 13:20and then after you go, oh, okay, we won't. It was
- 13:24the oddest thing. She just goes, you, watch out. There's all
- 13:26sorts of places to get assaulted from around here. There's places people can hide
- 13:31in the shadows. And I go, don't worry. We're getting ready to
- 13:35leave, right just to kind of put her mind at ease, We're about
- 13:39to take off. Don't sweat it, thank you about it. We've already
- 13:43made our deal exactly. The drugs have already been exchanged. I've already purchased
- 13:48the Colin oscar be kid from this man on Craigslist, and now we're just
- 13:52discussing the stars playoff run. I just tell her we're not here gonna We're
- 13:58not gonna be here for long. Thank you. I appreciate it, and
- 14:01she goes all right, and she just rolls up her window and drives off.
- 14:05What's troubling to me about that is she gives you the very clear warning,
- 14:09watch out, because there's assaults that happen here. I've got to watch
- 14:11out for the bushes and the stop sign and all that, But then she
- 14:13just drives away. It's like, well, just stay and make sure that
- 14:18you two are safe, hang out with us. Yeah, yeah, why
- 14:22didn't you ask her? Go, hey, well, why don't you hanger
- 14:24out with us and make sure we don't get assaulted? I think that's very
- 14:28reasonable. It's I mean, it doesn't typically say it on the side of
- 14:33the cars anymore, but the idea is still to protect and serve. And
- 14:37then if you really needed to break the ice, go hey, do you
- 14:39know? Oh, should should I bleep that? Yeah? You're in the
- 14:50treehouse Switt, Dan O'Malley and Alfie Koy because even if she doesn't know him,
- 14:56he's heard it. Rodney Anderson joining us in the tree house. Thanks
- 15:16for being here, Rodney, We always appreciate it. I was curious if
- 15:22you could give us maybe the top three reasons that listeners should get pre approved
- 15:26before they decide to go out and try to buy a house. Well.
- 15:31Number one, sellers want to know are you for real? In this market?
- 15:33They may receive multiple offers on houses because inventory is so tight right now,
- 15:39so they pick up the phone and call us, especially the selling agents
- 15:45pick up the phone and call us and say, can you tell me a
- 15:46little about your client? When I can say, I've given you a full
- 15:50pre approval letter, we have verified everything, the people have excellent income,
- 15:56assets and credit and all I need to contract and I'm ready to go.
- 16:00That's music to the seller's ears. Now on your side, you want to
- 16:03sit there and go, I need to know what my payments are going to
- 16:06approximately. Be the last thing you want to be doing is looking at a
- 16:10house that's over your budget. And then number three, you want to look
- 16:14at how much money am I going to need? And what program is best
- 16:17for me? Am I going to need more money down? Am I going
- 16:19to need less money down? It's all in the numbers and Dan, we
- 16:23help people hold their hands, walk them through the whole process. And best
- 16:26of all, when people are buying homes, our goals to get their purchase
- 16:30done an eight to ten days. And I can't tell you how many realtors
- 16:33when we tell the selling agents that we can get these things done that quick,
- 16:37they're like, WHOA, where are used to our lenders taking forty five
- 16:40to sixty days exactly. And that's one of the main reasons. As myself
- 16:44being a release date agent, I always told my clients. You use Rodney
- 16:48Anderson because he can make things happen that so many o these large banks just
- 16:52can't seem to do. So before I let you go, I did have
- 16:56one other quick, not so random question for you. But bear with me.
- 17:00When was the last time you were yelled at by a cop? Oh?
- 17:03Dude, it's been forever. I don't think I've been yelled at by
- 17:06a police officer because you know what, It's funny because I've been pulled over
- 17:11probably five times in the last twenty years. And what the people said is
- 17:15you're Rudney Anderson from the radio, and he said, and no, why
- 17:19and then they let me off. They give me a warning. In fact,
- 17:22I got pulled over in Highland Village about six months ago and it's the
- 17:27second time the police officers pulled me over in ten years. He's like,
- 17:30hey, Rodney, how's it going? Slow down a little bit, how
- 17:33fast are you going? I was going about forty two and a thirty bad
- 17:41but definitely not terrible. Well, my car was in the shop. I
- 17:45was in a rental from a Buddy's dealership. Okay, I was in fall
- 17:48little Tesla and that thing was haul and butt and I didn't even look up
- 17:53because of the normal spedometers up on the computer, so it was not in
- 17:57front of me. And so he was very cool. I mean, he
- 18:02was very cool. So I haven't been yelled at by a police officer in
- 18:04a very long time. All right, Well, I'm gonna keep that in
- 18:07mind. So any sort of an interaction you have with a police officer and
- 18:11you don't get a ticket, that to me is going to count as a
- 18:12call to your office. So do that right now. Give Rodney a call
- 18:15nine seven two nine eight five fifty two hundred if you can get him to
- 18:19slow down to pick up the phone nine seven two nine eight five fifty two
- 18:23hundred. And yes, he'll slow down and pick up the phone. The
- 18:26website Rodney Anderson dot com. Thanks Rodney, And if I'm lending is an
- 18:29equal housing lender three thousand Village Parkway, Suite four hundred Hihland Village, Texas
- 18:32and MLS two three two nine. You're in Luke Free House with Dan O'Malley
- 18:42and Alfie Cord. I don't know exactly the story behind it, but I
- 18:55know I know when I know him. My buddy Trey sends me a text
- 18:59that simply says, my cat is stupid. I don't want to know anything
- 19:02more until we dirt recording. I just I got a broken cat. I
- 19:11don't even know. I don't even know what else I mean. He struggles
- 19:18to jump, just even on a tabletop. He routinely falls over, like
- 19:26gets especially going down the stairs. Whatever. He's not very graceful. He's
- 19:29clumsy. He will not eat. I'll like usually once a week I go
- 19:37get a rotisserie chicken. I debone it and I just put it in the
- 19:38fridge and I put it on salads or whatever. Will not eat chicken.
- 19:45We'll not eat shrimp. We'll not eat steak. But oh when I have
- 19:52an asa E bowl with some granola, he all over that, like you
- 19:56wouldn't believe. I mean, he will literally, you know, claw me
- 20:00to get to it. So, so your cat's a hippie. I got
- 20:07a vegan hippie cat. I figured the dreadlocks on your cat should have been
- 20:11a should have been a clue for you. He's just I love him.
- 20:18You know, he was astray that I just started feeding and somehow, and
- 20:22you know, it's just one of those things. I probably he probably made
- 20:26friends with me because he couldn't feed himself. He's too clutzi. I mean,
- 20:30I'm quite sure if he saw a rat or something, he would run
- 20:33and hide. Well maybe not maybe not just the fact that he's clutzi,
- 20:37but also realizing he'd go and sniff something and be like, oh, no,
- 20:40no, no, that's gotten meat in it. Yeah, did you
- 20:44use dairy in that? I don't eat real cheese. I need to make
- 20:51sure now. I need to make sure that the cheese I eat is not
- 20:55actually cheese, but instead is made in a lab somewhere. Oh and the
- 20:57other thing is every night I have the same routine about nine thirty. Take
- 21:03Daisy out, you know, let her do her business. I come back
- 21:07in. I give her a treat. That's you know, it's like a
- 21:10cosequin, you know, like help with joints for older dogs and whatnot.
- 21:14I do it in the same spot every night. Daisy knows right where to
- 21:18go, sits down, you know, just waiting for her treat. Most
- 21:25nights, Drew, I just have to, you know. Finally, I
- 21:26get tired of like trying to chase him to come to the same spot,
- 21:30and so I just I like have to put the treats up on a table
- 21:33and just hope he finds him, and it's a fifty fifty shot. I'll
- 21:36come down the next morning. Sometimes I just I don't. I've and he's
- 21:41got a you know, he's kind of got this. It just looks like
- 21:47a he looks like a cat that was really fat and lost weight and then
- 21:51you know, sell us a bunch of excess skin. That's what is.
- 21:53You know, he has kind of this old man gut that just ye,
- 21:57I've seen that I have. I think we have our our our big cat
- 22:03Warren. He's kind of got that because he was really big for a while.
- 22:07He had gotten up to like eighteen pounds. Now we've got him down
- 22:08to like fourteen. But he's got the he's got the swaying BELLI synder and
- 22:15Julius is and he and Julius never got fat, that's the weird thing.
- 22:18But he and his is a far more pronounced than worn. And I wonder
- 22:23if that's why he is a hard time jumping up on the table like it
- 22:26like his belly hits the corner and well, yeah, it's just there's some
- 22:30kind of physics at work that you know he jumps, but that you know,
- 22:34belly just takes longer to get up there. You know that, and
- 22:40the fact that my three pounds chihuahua with no teeth, you know, Daisy
- 22:44will just boss him around and chase him around, and you know, God
- 22:47bless him, he goes for it because he could just smack the crap out
- 22:49of her. Yeah, I just I really And oh the other thing he
- 22:52does now this is I guess more cat like is you know, in the
- 22:57middle of the night, sometimes I'll go down on stairs and I'll get water
- 23:02or whatever, and he will sit under the coffee table and because he thinks
- 23:06it's fun and I think he wants my attention, he likes to just swipe
- 23:11and just claw me right in my achilles heel as I why I saw that
- 23:15scene. It was it was a scene out of the very first Chucky movie.
- 23:18Yeah that's and yeah, and then he doesn't you know, when all
- 23:22of a sudden, I'm like, expletives you, Julius, And he looks
- 23:29quite shocked every time because he's already thought, yeah, what are you?
- 23:33Was fine, I'm a broken cat, right, that's yeah, that's he
- 23:37has no And I don't know if that's something that like, because he was
- 23:41I guess orphan or whatever, and maybe that's something the mom teaches him.
- 23:45He does not understand when to put claws up and when to not. Yeah,
- 23:48so that's that's definitely a social socialization thing. Because we had that with
- 23:53Warren, our cat, because Tara found him outside of a previous job in
- 23:59an alley way and he just kind of wandered in, you know, in
- 24:03front of her car and she's like, oh my god, a cat,
- 24:04and she scooped him up took him home and of course, you know,
- 24:08he's like three weeks old. His eyes are barely like, are hardly open.
- 24:15He's super tiny. He's covered in fleas. Uh we we immediately or
- 24:22she did. Actually she got him in the kitchen sink and started giving him
- 24:25a bath right to get the fleas off of him. But because he wasn't
- 24:27used to that either, he promptly drowned and then oh, there's your cat.
- 24:33You you picked him up for us to see. H So then we
- 24:37had to kind of revive the cat because he kind of inhaled the water in
- 24:41the flea bath. So that was interesting. But same thing. He didn't
- 24:45know how to play because he wasn't properly socialized. So he didn't actually play.
- 24:49He just hunted you, Like, if you're walking down the hallway,
- 24:53he would just come flying in, just all claws. Yeah, that's that's
- 24:57pretty much, you know. And if I'm kind of going up the stairs,
- 25:00and of course he never does it when I have shoes on, but
- 25:03when I'm barefoot, then he'll also take that opportunity to chase me up the
- 25:06stairs and he thinks it's rare a lot of fun and just swipe at my
- 25:08ankles, swipe at my achilles. And so it's not just the fact that
- 25:14you've got a broken cat. Your cat's got a murderous streak in it.
- 25:18Yeah, yeah, I mean, and then to me, that's more typical
- 25:22cat of you know, they're plotting to kill you. But yeah, it's
- 25:26just he's just he's just stupid. Yeah. So we as humans, we've
- 25:32made the mistake of claiming this world as ours, when in reality it's the
- 25:37cat world and they're just allowing us to live in it until they decide otherwise,
- 25:41until they you know, evolution gives them opposable thumbs and we're all screwed
- 25:45exactly. Oh that's the other thing. And I don't know, I've I've
- 25:52grown up with kath on my life somehow, Julius, I swear you would
- 25:55think he has an opposable thumb. So when he gets out of the litter
- 25:57box he has a handful of litter, he just drags it all over the
- 26:00house. I thought you're gonna say he throws it in your face. He
- 26:03might as well. You know, maybe maybe you actually just unknowingly unlocked that
- 26:11kitty cat's secret is that maybe they actually do have opposable thumbs. They just
- 26:14keep them hidden, and they only use them when they just really really want
- 26:18or need something. They just want to vex their human by way the hell
- 26:22they do that. They like to They like to let us think that we're
- 26:26in charge. So that's why they keep that thumb hidden. Yeah, Alphie,
- 26:30how was the cat that you had for a while that you were taken
- 26:34care of and then found a permanent home for him? How? How how
- 26:38was that kitty cat? Huh? I'm sorry, I'm just I'm out of
- 26:44it a little bit. I'm still coping with the fact that Trey eats osa
- 26:48e bowls. Here's the thing, we don't know if Trey purposely ordered it
- 26:56for himself or because the cat wouldn't eat anything else. He's like, let
- 26:59me just try granola. Which is it, Trey, Um, I need
- 27:03to know. Well, I get Sam's will have them on occasion, and
- 27:10I'll buy a package of the Assai bowl because of the failure if it comes
- 27:14from Sam's. Yeah, exactly, you know what is as supposed to getting
- 27:18them from spouts. This is a very throwback and Alfie, I don't even
- 27:23remember if you were at the time, but going back to the days when
- 27:27Craig Ludent, yeah, was pimping the ash juice and ever since then,
- 27:34I really liked it. But the bowl, you got to do the ball,
- 27:40well, that's how it comes and you don't have to eat it out
- 27:42of the ball. You know. Here's the thing. Here's the thing,
- 27:45Trey. So from the time that you left the radio show in in twenty
- 27:49twelve, uh, Alfie evolved and the way most of us evolved. As
- 27:56we get older, what happens we have a tendency to start hating things,
- 28:00right, and we don't like change, right. So that's that's what started
- 28:04happening to Alfie after you left, after you left the Treehouse back in twenty
- 28:08twelve. Because Alfie then found initially something to truly hate, and that was
- 28:15avocado toast. Yes I didn't, and I enjoy the vocado toast is putting
- 28:22a smoothie that should be in a cup in a bowl instead, you dan,
- 28:25thank you. It's a smoothie if they just put it in a bowl
- 28:29and they charge you five dollars more for it, they sprinkle some granola,
- 28:34some seeds or something, maybe a barrier two that weren't actually thrown in the
- 28:40damn blender into honey, and they go, that'll be twelve dollars as opposed
- 28:45to the you know, four dollars smoothie or something like that. It's a
- 28:48smoothie. It's a smoothie that you're eating out of a bowl with a spoon.
- 28:51It's where the hell do you get a four dollars smoothie? Trade home
- 28:55smoothie human They still have for four dollars a smoothie King, because I love
- 29:00smoothie King. You know, you can't even get a kid smoothie for four
- 29:03bucks. But but that's actually what I was saying. It's basically ice in
- 29:08a sprits of water and then you hand it to a child and that's your
- 29:11four dollars one yeah, because the smoothie I normally get its smoothie King.
- 29:15It's like ten bucks. Yeah, I know, same here. But the
- 29:17point is Assai bowls. It's just extra steps. You're just you're getting more
- 29:22dishes dirty when all you need is a cup and a straw. And well,
- 29:26these are frozen, they come in a bowl. I'm not putting them
- 29:29in a bowl. I'm not having someone like and they're they're cheap. It's
- 29:33like, okay, that's that. That is probably my main concern. How
- 29:36much What it is is Trey, you are buying the scam as opposed to
- 29:41uh, making your own scam. Yeah, but you know the scam I'm
- 29:45running. Yeah, or if they've running, it'll only cost I guess two
- 29:48dollars a bowl, So that's not bad. You go to some stinking,
- 29:52you know, hoity toity sit down breakfast place and they charge you for a
- 29:56stinking smoothie in a bowl, and they're they're up charging twenty thirty percent.
- 30:02That's what just annoys or crap out. I mean, that's my problem with
- 30:03the avocados toast too. And I know lots of listeners have heard me harp
- 30:07on it, and I know that sound like a broken record right now.
- 30:10But I enjoy avocado toast. I despise the scam of it, the absolute
- 30:15adiotic paying twelve dollars for a frigging piece of bread, a little bit of
- 30:19GUACAMOLEI half the time, and oh, we sprinkled some salt on it,
- 30:26so that'll be twelve dollars at an egg solfe. You just hate restaurants.
- 30:30I hate restaurants that absolutely take advantage of people for like minimal minimal input,
- 30:40minimal effort, maximum price. If I can't cook something, I will gladly
- 30:45pay for it, I will gladly pay well for it. Chicken wings is
- 30:49a perfect example. Chicken wings are something that is an absolute pain in the
- 30:53ask to cook on your own at home and get them nice restaurant crispy quality.
- 31:00I'm willing to pay for that. But avocado toast, where it's a
- 31:04piece of bread, usually an eighth of an avocado smashed up, and we
- 31:10sprinkled some salt on it, sir, that'll be twelve dollars. If you
- 31:15put a protein on it, that's another sixty eight dollars leftover bacon from the
- 31:22night before or something. Get out of here. The assai e bowl is
- 31:29just to me an extension of that if they took the smooth dunderstand that.
- 31:33I understand that you're saying you're you're worried someone's going to be hearing this,
- 31:37and then you're like, oh, there goes Alpha gooing, blah blah blah.
- 31:40But the thing is you you are still fighting the good fight, because
- 31:45as long as the restaurant industry is going to scammed its customers, then you
- 31:48are going to carry the anti avocado toast price gouging flag. So it's not
- 31:53your fault. And it heard just responding to the to the continued attacks on
- 31:59America, so exactly, it hurts my heart hearing that people. People are
- 32:04are still susceptible as I'm not talking about Trey, I'm talking about trace Cat.
- 32:07But wake up, people, It's just in a ball. It's a
- 32:14smoothie in a ball. Up people. They handed you a spoon. I
- 32:22can't remember the name of it, but I have to admit there is a
- 32:23place. There's a place. I know they've got a few locations, but
- 32:28I think they're individual franchises and they have fruit bowls. I don't know if
- 32:32they're smoothie bowls. I don't know what they call them. Um, it's
- 32:37not like a fruit cup, is it. It's a fun, refreshing state
- 32:42fair treat or something? No, I mean it's it might actually be a
- 32:46smoothie ball. I don't know. All I know is it that is damn
- 32:49delicious. It comes, it's got this stuff in there. It's kind of
- 32:52blended up, but it's still thick. To me, it's sticker than a
- 32:53smoothie. But then it'll have some like chunks of fruit and they don't have
- 32:58like some granola or something in there for crunch, and then some honey drizzled
- 33:00on top. And it's delicious. How much they charge you for it?
- 33:04Dan, I don't know. I don't. I don't. You gotta call
- 33:07Rodney Anderson every time you get one of these damn things. It is sad
- 33:12he has to tell me each time. He's like, damn, seriously,
- 33:15we're gonna refinance you again, Rodney, I want the extra chia seeds.
- 33:17Can I get the extra chia seeds? Did I? Did I build any
- 33:22equity over the last three days? I got a hankering for another mango bowl.
- 33:30That's the other one too. They got mango steen bowls first of all,
- 33:34what the f is a mango? Steen? And second, I don't
- 33:37know they it's a smoothie ingredient. As far as I'm concerned, it's something
- 33:39that I see on the board at a smoothie king when I want a smoothie
- 33:44and they just put it in a bowl and they go, that'll be thirty
- 33:46percent more. Please, Alfie, have you ever tried to peel the mango?
- 33:52Okay, you win this one, Trey. We're in the treehouse with
- 34:00Dan O'Malley and Alfie Coy. You're in the treehouse with Dan O'Malley and Alfie
- 34:27Cord. This is the type of topic that is really divisive, you know,
- 34:34uh in the treehouse, at least inside my brain, because on one
- 34:38hand, I really think it's useful and important information to share. On the
- 34:44other side, it makes us sound so uncool that it makes me not want
- 34:47to listen, even though I have to be here for it. Why why
- 34:52you bring this up in conversation? Trey brought it up. It's his fault.
- 34:58I blame Trey. No, that's mine. I'm fine with Trey and
- 35:00I and all of us having a discussion off off the air or during a
- 35:06break. Why are you gonna bring it up when we're when we're doing the
- 35:08podcast. Did you hear what I just started with saying, On one hand,
- 35:13I don't want to sound completely uncool, But on the other hand,
- 35:16Trey seemed to have found some magical bottled elixir that cleans anything and everything,
- 35:22and I think we should tell the world about it. Okay, I the
- 35:29Dawn. It's in a blue bottle, comes with a spray top. It
- 35:31will change your life, the way you do dishes, everything. It is
- 35:36all the scrubbing everything you'd literally you spray this stuff on. Wait a couple
- 35:38of minutes and everything comes off. You get to stay in on your clothes,
- 35:42spray it on, put it in the washer. It's better than spray
- 35:44and wash. You want to clean your tennis shoes, to spray it on
- 35:46there, scrub them. It is miracle stuff I have not seen. I
- 35:51have not seen a spray don the only don ever sees the liquid stuff comes
- 35:54in the boy gotta squeeze it out, put it in your thingy, and
- 35:55then you know you do your dishes. Is the first of all. Are
- 36:00we advertising or like that they advertising with us as a sponsored segment or something.
- 36:05Not yet, but I think we should take a clip of this and
- 36:07send it to the Dawn people and say, hey, put down that oil
- 36:09covered duck and send us some money. Is this the Dawn Platinum Powerwah disk
- 36:15spray? Yes, okay, it looks pretty neat. It looks like he
- 36:20just squeezed the spray trigger and you spray it on stuff and you clean dishes.
- 36:24I don't know what. I don't know what magical sorcery are they found
- 36:29to create this and put whatever magic is a bottle, But I'm telling you
- 36:31go get some. Anytime you have to scrub a dish, anything, you
- 36:36just spray it on. It's It's miraculous and it's better than careful about this
- 36:40though, because the last stuff we've talked about at length was the uh,
- 36:46the old Granddad one fourteen whiskey, and now it's hard to find in North
- 36:50Texas because regular Dawn's pretty good. Like I'll use regular down dish soap for
- 36:58you know, if there's a stain on my shirt, like you said,
- 37:00I'll just get in there and scrub it with some hot water. Takes care
- 37:02of things real quick. But I was complaining about having to clean cookie sheets
- 37:07like um cooling racks you know what I mean because I used them one time
- 37:12for cooking chicken wings. And yeah, chicken wings. It definitely wasn't butternut
- 37:16squash. Yeah no, the chicken wings came out really good. I say,
- 37:20I'm going to man up this segment a little bit. All right,
- 37:22there we go. That was it was kind of a a week Well it
- 37:27sounded good on my end. Okay, fictured and posted all right here and
- 37:32there we go. That's a good one. Thank you. Um, regular
- 37:38dawn just soap is good. But scrubbing the stupid cooling racks is just such
- 37:45a giant pain in the ass When there's chicken grease and scan all in the
- 37:50grid there, it's just an absolute pain in the ass. So you're telling
- 37:52me, now we know you just get you a bottle of the tray spray,
- 37:55the Dawn powerwashed spray is what I need? Is that what you're saying?
- 38:00Go get a bottle, and I promise you you will thank me.
- 38:05Okay, I'll check it out. Seriously, Someone send this clip to down.
- 38:08What is that Procter and Gamble or something. I hope you're right it's
- 38:14Procter and Graham Gamble. Okay, good, Yeah, someone send P,
- 38:17P and g A an email. So anyway, Yeah, bikinis and booms
- 38:25and stuff, Whiskey motorcycles. Can you use this hemp scenes? Yeah?
- 38:45Can you use this stuff to like, sorry and go for it? Can
- 38:50you use the stuff to like clean an oil spill in the in the driveway?
- 38:54I think you could? All right, good, just make sure clean
- 38:58something manly and definitely not use it for my pedicure or your colonoscopy camera.
- 39:09So where is it going to use it? I would definitely want it to
- 39:12be clean. So, as of the recording of this, the colon colonoscopy
- 39:15camera is still on Craigslist, but I don't know. We'll see if some
- 39:20listener picks it up. Yeah, I'm not gonna do it. It's that
- 39:24that's even too frivolous for me. No, I think for the right price,
- 39:30it's it's just the right amount of frivolous. Four hundred bucks is pretty
- 39:34frivolous, Dan. That's why I'm saying, if you just get their price
- 39:37knocked down some, then all of a sudden, I think it'd be worth
- 39:39it. Oh God, I don't like haggling. I went to an estate
- 39:43sale the other day and there's people in there absolutely haggling over just the dumbest,
- 39:49dumbest stuff, like it's an old jewelry box. The price says,
- 39:54you know, ten bucks? Why are you making this harder on everyone?
- 39:59Just either you want to you don't. I don't know the end of the
- 40:05day that that's really what it is. I mean, my wife is probably
- 40:07the best uh negotiator, the best haggler I've ever seen, because there have
- 40:14been a couple of instances where she expressed minor interest in an item and the
- 40:20salesperson's like hey, he just starts taking her through the whole spiel, and
- 40:24then she just goes namm good, Like this happened on our honeymoon. We're
- 40:30at We're we're at our honeymoon, and she she wanted a like a swimsuit
- 40:32cover up, right, So she goes into this little store and she's looking
- 40:37at it, and the guy comes over. He's like, oh, do
- 40:38you want it? I'll take twenty percent off of him, and she's like,
- 40:43I don't think I really want it. She's like, I don't think
- 40:45it's worth that, and then she just puts it up and starts leaving,
- 40:47and the guy chases her down the beach. And eventually, eventually she just
- 40:52straight up says, mainly just to get him to leave her alone. She's
- 40:59like, I'll give you twenty bucks for it. And he was so mad,
- 41:04so mad, he took the deal. But that's why he was so
- 41:07mad, because he was like, Okay, twenty bucks, fine, and
- 41:09he hated her guts, but he took the sale. Best haggler I've ever
- 41:13seen, mainly because she really did not care. Yeah, and ultimately that's
- 41:17what you gotta do. But I mean, if you want something, just
- 41:23pay the price. But if you could live without it, that's the kind
- 41:27of mindset you have to be in. If you're gonna haggle, That's not
- 41:31the mindset I'm in, because you really want the colony? Can all right?
- 41:38You ready for Are you ready for a nice segue? Trey? Absolutely,
- 41:43because we really manned that one up with antiquing and swimsuit cover ups.
- 41:50I've gotten really good at seguays over the years. So, speaking of speaking
- 41:55of colonoscopies, are all buddy, Luke Bryan was in the news. Oh
- 42:00really, yeah, he was actually, uh, he was on I think
- 42:04it was Jimmy Kimmel or he was on one of the night shows. Hang,
- 42:07I'm I can pull this up real quick. Uh. And you know
- 42:13how artificial intelligence it's it's very popular right now. Everyone. You know,
- 42:16it's like, oh, artificial intelligence, this artificial intelligence that um. In
- 42:22fact, he was on Jimmy Kimmel, so Jimmy Kimmel decided to have one
- 42:25of those new artificial intelligence pages hammer out a song in the style of Luke
- 42:32Bryan and uh and they and they played it for him on the shows.
- 42:43Just me and my guitar, trying to find my way back home. But
- 42:46it seems so very far. I'm just a small town living in this crazy
- 42:52world. I'll keep on singing my songs and let my voice be heard.
- 43:00Not that good, but I think I'm okay for now on the AI.
- 43:07So that's pretty That was really awful. I mean, that's very bad.
- 43:14Do you think it you think it's it's it's even bad by Luke Brian lyric
- 43:16standards. Yes, I'm sorry. Luke Brian is not Mozart, but everything
- 43:21he does is miles ahead of that garbage. I don't know, because I
- 43:25always go back to that one song where he talked about you know where he
- 43:30just kept rhyming up and up and up and then threw in a real curveball
- 43:35and threw in the word cup again. This man is not Mozart, but
- 43:40that that AI thing was awful, Like like Luke Bryan at least has like,
- 43:45you know, fun melodies. That was more of like here, I'm
- 43:47gonna hear this again, just me and my gatar trying to find my way
- 43:55back home. But it seems so you know what it sounds like. It
- 43:59sounds like really like a really really bad John Mellencamp knock off. M hmm,
- 44:05I could hear that. Yeah, it's just kind of talk singing.
- 44:09Luke Brian will at least pretend to try and sing things, even if it's
- 44:22the same note. But bla, I mean he's at least putting forth some
- 44:30effort. That AI thing was just garbage. And some of these days,
- 44:34this dude they think they can hit hit the target pretty good. Sometimes they
- 44:40can. And I think what happened is is it's almost like Jimmy Kimmel used
- 44:45the AI thing, and then you could hear Luke in there. He's kind
- 44:49of like he's he's sort of offended by He's like, man, no,
- 44:52I'm fine, I'm nothing to worried. About and uh so he's he's he's
- 44:54kind of being a little uppity about it. Well, I mean, he's
- 45:00got to have some concern for his well being if he gets replaced by a
- 45:04robot who's gonna feed his pond all them trucks. That is a man.
- 45:13That is a legitimate concern Alphie. By the way, Jimmy Kimmel, after
- 45:19that appearance, he really got me scared because I thought that AI was actually
- 45:22better than than I'm a little afraid. I'm afraid from a job. Why
- 45:30because the AI was better. I thought it was gonna really suck, but
- 45:32I thought it'd had some some some kind of high points because I like to
- 45:36drive on the back roads. Oh sorry, who is this I'm speaking to?
- 45:38So we're gonna re establish with Brian Hi this very old bit. Yeah.
- 45:43I decided I nose through my trash and come up with some old old
- 45:46song lyrics to see if I could be reinspired to write better music. I
- 45:52wanted to see if y'all boys in the treehouse would give me some proper feedback.
- 45:55Sure, go for it. I mean, I don't like I don't
- 45:58like the fact that you're saying that it's better, even though I'm standing here
- 46:00defending you well you know, but that's why I want. I want you
- 46:05to hear it. Alphie. I think I need to have more yes men
- 46:07in my camp. Go for it because because mainly most of the people around
- 46:12me are screaming help, help, and they're not real good at giving me
- 46:17lyrical feedback. And you know what I mean, it's mostly screams and uns.
- 46:22It real real hard to to to give honest feedback when you've cut out
- 46:25their tongue, right, see see you get me, Alphie. Thank you.
- 46:31Anyway, So I've been working on I've been working on a couple of
- 46:34new didties. So let me throw these at you. Okay, let me
- 46:36know what you think. I need your honest opinion because I can't be uh
- 46:39what is it, AMG Artist of the Year again without it? Okay?
- 46:45My wife don't love me no more, probably because of this here sore no
- 46:52idea where it came from, I swore, But her cooch now looks like
- 46:58a smore. Is that good? No, that's quality. That's like,
- 47:02uh, it's okay, thank god, that's up. That's that's Nashville Nashville
- 47:07standard. All right, we'll go well, let well, let me throw
- 47:09the second verse at you. Uh, this old hooker told me to get
