Transcript
- 0:09Speaker 1: Hey, what's going on? Everyone?
- 0:11Speaker 2: Welcome into another episode of The check O Daily. It's
- 0:13Speaker 2: Andrew de check Go, Eagles beat reporter for Inside the
- 0:16Speaker 2: Birds dot Com here And on Tuesday, Nick Sirianni and
- 0:20Speaker 2: Howie Roseman met with reporters for their annual pre draft conference,
- 0:25Speaker 2: and they typically are geared more toward big picture questions
- 0:31Speaker 2: team building.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Than it is prospects or process.
- 0:37Speaker 2: That's usually something that teams like to keep closer to
- 0:40Speaker 2: the best. But I thought what Howie Roseman in particular
- 0:42Speaker 2: had to say yesterday was really insightful if you're into
- 0:48Speaker 2: how the Eagles approach the draft, because it really gives
- 0:51Speaker 2: you good perspective.
- 0:52Speaker 1: And insight into how the Eagles do it.
- 0:56Speaker 2: And another notable nugget from that Prescott conference was you
- 1:01Speaker 2: got to hear Nick Sirianni and Howie Roseman days after
- 1:04Speaker 2: acquiring wide receiver DN Tavian Wicks.
- 1:06Speaker 1: You got to hear their perspective on the trade.
- 1:09Speaker 2: And one thing that both Howie Roseman and Nick Sirianni
- 1:11Speaker 2: said was his ability to separate at the top of
- 1:16Speaker 2: routes was a really appealing facet of Dn Tavian Wicks's game.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Nick Sirianni talked about his toughness, but Howie Roseman talked
- 1:24Speaker 2: about how he's like. They were well versed on his game.
- 1:30Speaker 2: They watched it on the flight to the owner's meetings.
- 1:33Speaker 2: They watched film on Dantavian Wicks, and Hallie Roseman talked
- 1:37Speaker 2: about his ability to be an inside and outside wide receiver,
- 1:43Speaker 2: so optionality, the separation at the top of his routes
- 1:47Speaker 2: was another thing.
- 1:48Speaker 1: That he said. But he also cited his ability to
- 1:53Speaker 1: elevate his.
- 1:54Speaker 2: Game and key situations against the Eagles, so he saw
- 1:57Speaker 2: that firsthand. And then he reference of a couple plays
- 2:01Speaker 2: that don Tavian Wicks made in the Green Bay Packers
- 2:04Speaker 2: thirty one to twenty four winning Week thirteen over the
- 2:06Speaker 2: Detroit Lions, and he said he noted the fourth and
- 2:11Speaker 2: three reception that he had. It was actually a sixteen
- 2:14Speaker 2: yard reception that Wicks had to put the game on ice.
- 2:16Speaker 2: And then there was another fourth down catch and then
- 2:19Speaker 2: he had a twenty two yard really really nice touchdown
- 2:23Speaker 2: in the corner of the end zone to put the
- 2:25Speaker 2: Packers up ten nothing in that game.
- 2:27Speaker 1: But Howie Roseman cited those three.
- 2:29Speaker 2: Plays and as things that he that really caught his eye,
- 2:34Speaker 2: and the quarterbacks that he was working with, whether it
- 2:37Speaker 2: was Malik Willis or Jordan Love, their trust in him
- 2:43Speaker 2: to get him the football and know that he's going
- 2:45Speaker 2: to deliver.
- 2:45Speaker 1: That was something that was really appealing to them.
- 2:48Speaker 2: And now and Dontavian Wicks adds to a very deep
- 2:52Speaker 2: receiving core right now with AJ Brown here for the moment.
- 2:55Speaker 1: And as for AJ Brown, Howie.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Roseman said, AJ's an eagle, and their messaging has been
- 3:01Speaker 2: very consistent throughout the pre draft process in the offseason,
- 3:04Speaker 2: and so not really a surprise there. We'll see what
- 3:08Speaker 2: happens down the road and perhaps something develops.
- 3:11Speaker 1: But I want to focus more today on the.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Checko my guys' prospects from the twenty twenty six NFL Draft.
- 3:21Speaker 2: That's an unofficial title, and we can workshop that a
- 3:24Speaker 2: little bit, but I just kind of going through the
- 3:28Speaker 2: draft process and now that we're coming to the finish line,
- 3:32Speaker 2: it's put that in my mind that there's a number
- 3:35Speaker 2: of players that I would pound the table for if
- 3:38Speaker 2: I was an NFL GM, And there are so many
- 3:42Speaker 2: talented players, so it's not limited to this list, of course,
- 3:45Speaker 2: but the ones that.
- 3:47Speaker 1: I really want to highlight that are my guys.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Are offensive tackle Max Ianachor from Arizona State, Athletic immense upside.
- 3:58Speaker 2: He's just scratching the surface, relatively new to football, but
- 4:02Speaker 2: his ability to become a high end tackle with that
- 4:06Speaker 2: unique athletic profile and his size and wingspan and his mobility,
- 4:13Speaker 2: I just feel like the sky is the limit for him.
- 4:16Speaker 2: And he looked at other tackles that could fall within
- 4:19Speaker 2: his range. I just think that he probably possesses the
- 4:21Speaker 2: most upside. Then you, of course have Kayden Proctor, but
- 4:25Speaker 2: I'm leaving him off my list. MAXI I'm not sure
- 4:28Speaker 2: is on there. I would look at wide receivers and
- 4:36Speaker 2: Chris Bell is a player who I've talked quite a
- 4:38Speaker 2: bit about on this podcast.
- 4:40Speaker 1: I like his body type.
- 4:42Speaker 2: It's compact, it's sort of along the lines of an
- 4:46Speaker 2: AJ Brown, and that he can be that alpha in
- 4:48Speaker 2: a receiving core. He's physical, he's tough, he works the
- 4:51Speaker 2: shorts to intermediate levels. He's lethal after the catch. Yes,
- 4:55Speaker 2: he had the knee injury, and he's gonna have a
- 4:57Speaker 2: little bit of a late start, one would imagine, but
- 5:00Speaker 2: I look at his skill set and I find that
- 5:02Speaker 2: to be very translatable love the way he plays the position.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Ted Hurst another wide receiver.
- 5:07Speaker 2: Out at Georgia's State who I like a lot from
- 5:12Speaker 2: his ability to stretch the field to use his frame
- 5:18Speaker 2: to his advantage that catch radius.
- 5:20Speaker 1: I think his ability to separate downfield would.
- 5:23Speaker 2: Offer a different dimension to a lot of NFL offenses,
- 5:26Speaker 2: including the Eagles. He went to Georgia State and he
- 5:29Speaker 2: had over a thousand yards last season, but I would
- 5:32Speaker 2: argue that he's still yet to play his best football,
- 5:36Speaker 2: and that's right.
- 5:37Speaker 1: There is something that if you're an NFL team, you
- 5:40Speaker 1: have to find that intriguing when you're looking at a
- 5:42Speaker 1: player like that end.
- 5:44Speaker 2: He proved that he can compete with the best at
- 5:47Speaker 2: the recent Senior Bowl.
- 5:48Speaker 1: He performed very well there.
- 5:51Speaker 2: I just like his ability to be an explosive game
- 5:53Speaker 2: breaker with good run after the catch ability, or I
- 5:57Speaker 2: should say he has the elusiveness in the open field.
- 6:00Speaker 2: It's not going to necessarily break tackles. But ted Hurst
- 6:04Speaker 2: would be another player that I wanted to give a
- 6:06Speaker 2: mention to. Elijah Surrean was my final wide receiver that
- 6:11Speaker 2: made my guys list, and he's.
- 6:13Speaker 1: Someone that he went.
- 6:14Speaker 2: To Indiana but played obviously at the highest level. Was
- 6:18Speaker 2: a volume based receiver, not a burner by any means.
- 6:22Speaker 2: He's a more of a possession receiver, I think is
- 6:25Speaker 2: a fair description.
- 6:26Speaker 1: But strong Hands has a.
- 6:28Speaker 2: Knack for coming back for the football and shaking free
- 6:32Speaker 2: for his quarterbacks.
- 6:34Speaker 1: It seemed like he sort of.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Existed as a security blanket.
- 6:39Speaker 1: He's going to bring in the tough throws.
- 6:41Speaker 2: Strong Hands just a polished product that might not be
- 6:46Speaker 2: the proverbial game breaker at that position, but someone who
- 6:49Speaker 2: I think is going to have a very long.
- 6:51Speaker 1: And prosperous career at the next level.
- 6:56Speaker 2: Running Back K Tron Allen is another one of my
- 6:58Speaker 2: guys using running back from Penn State. I think his
- 7:02Speaker 2: vision is superior to that of Nick Singleton, who he
- 7:06Speaker 2: shared the backfield with the Penn State. I think his
- 7:09Speaker 2: skill set being that between the tackles runner suggests he
- 7:12Speaker 2: can handle volume, good contact balance, and I like the
- 7:15Speaker 2: way he finishes runs. He really really impressed me for
- 7:19Speaker 2: the last couple of years at Penn State, but broke
- 7:21Speaker 2: through last year and I think that was a sign of.
- 7:23Speaker 1: What's to come at the next level.
- 7:26Speaker 2: Tight End Eli Stowers from Vanderbilt have talked plenty about him,
- 7:31Speaker 2: I'm not going to go on about him for too long,
- 7:34Speaker 2: but when you look at his skill set, you might
- 7:37Speaker 2: say he's not a dominant blocker, and that's fair.
- 7:40Speaker 1: He's working on that.
- 7:41Speaker 2: But when you look at his receiving prowess and the
- 7:44Speaker 2: ability to move around formations and create mismatches and pose
- 7:48Speaker 2: as a threat at all times to a defense, especially
- 7:51Speaker 2: when you look at how offenses now are have evolved
- 7:54Speaker 2: and they're spreading teams out, someone like that who could
- 7:57Speaker 2: just be a weapon, I think would be invaluable. And
- 8:00Speaker 2: his athleticism and ball skills really jump out when you
- 8:04Speaker 2: watch him play. Oscar delt from Georgia doesn't have a
- 8:08Speaker 2: ton of production at the college level.
- 8:10Speaker 1: I think he was a little bit miscast as a blocker.
- 8:12Speaker 2: He could do that, but it was sort of depriving
- 8:15Speaker 2: the offense of his receiving ability. Good lengths physical He
- 8:20Speaker 2: gives you that dual thread or a two way ability
- 8:22Speaker 2: where he can block and he can catch.
- 8:24Speaker 1: And he's more athletic than you would look at you
- 8:27Speaker 1: than his numbers would indicate.
- 8:29Speaker 2: I think if you're looking at for a tight end
- 8:30Speaker 2: of the third round, he's going to be one that's
- 8:33Speaker 2: going to have a long career, kind of like a
- 8:35Speaker 2: Hunter Henry esque type of player. And Will kas Merik
- 8:40Speaker 2: from Ohio State another tight end, and he is just
- 8:43Speaker 2: a physical, dominant blocker.
- 8:45Speaker 1: He takes no prisoners.
- 8:47Speaker 2: He's that guy that you would bring with you down
- 8:49Speaker 2: a dark alley and feel pretty comfortable with. He's just
- 8:52Speaker 2: an imposing presence there. Someone who is going to be
- 8:56Speaker 2: a very efficient inline blocker. He wasn't used much as
- 9:00Speaker 2: a receiver, but I think if you go back and
- 9:02Speaker 2: watch his tape, whether it was at Ohio or then
- 9:04Speaker 2: when he went to Ohio State, you would see that
- 9:09Speaker 2: he has a little bit more to his game then
- 9:13Speaker 2: the numbers would indicate, and that I think he can
- 9:16Speaker 2: be a solid receiver at the next level, a dump
- 9:19Speaker 2: off guy, someone who's gonna finish runs with authority and
- 9:23Speaker 2: certainly be an imposing force as a blocker, and kind
- 9:28Speaker 2: of like Chris Manhertz who's been around. I think he
- 9:32Speaker 2: blocked similar to him, and.
- 9:33Speaker 1: That he can be one of those guys in Nick Boyle.
- 9:36Speaker 2: If you remember who was on the Baltimore Ravens a
- 9:38Speaker 2: number of years ago. For years, he was one of
- 9:40Speaker 2: the better blocking tight ends in the NFL.
- 9:44Speaker 1: Yeah, so those are. That's the offensive side and on
- 9:48Speaker 1: the defensive side.
- 9:49Speaker 2: I would highlight cornerback Chris Johnson, by the way, Chris
- 9:53Speaker 2: Johnson from San Diego State. But I have an interview
- 9:56Speaker 2: that will be coming out tomorrow morning with Chris Johnson.
- 10:01Speaker 1: We had a chance to sit down recently and it's
- 10:04Speaker 1: a great conversation.
- 10:05Speaker 2: He's probably a top forty five guy and it wouldn't
- 10:09Speaker 2: surprise me if he sneaks in at the first round.
- 10:11Speaker 2: Highly intelligent, instinctual, good length, good ball skills, five interceptions
- 10:17Speaker 2: over the last two years, nine pass breakups over that
- 10:20Speaker 2: time as well, has a really good feel for reading
- 10:24Speaker 2: the eyes of the quarterback and playing with great instincts.
- 10:27Speaker 2: Has a very high ability, I think, to grasp the
- 10:31Speaker 2: most complex of defenses at the NFL to the point
- 10:34Speaker 2: where he should be able to factor early.
- 10:36Speaker 1: As a rookie.
- 10:37Speaker 2: Also has a lot of special team to experience, a
- 10:39Speaker 2: high character which really shines through.
- 10:41Speaker 1: In that interview. So I wanted to give him a
- 10:44Speaker 1: little bit of a highlight there.
- 10:46Speaker 3: Hey, Philly fans, game day is stressful enough, parking, traffic,
- 10:50Speaker 3: long lines, We've all been there, But when it comes
- 10:53Speaker 3: to your cannabis, Camden Apothecary makes it easy. This is
- 10:57Speaker 3: the dispensary for sports face just minutes outside of Philly,
- 11:02Speaker 3: with plenty of free parking. You'll be in and out fast,
- 11:04Speaker 3: no hassle, no waiting, and they don't just care about convenience.
- 11:08Speaker 3: Cam Din Apothecary is all about the guest experience. Their
- 11:12Speaker 3: staff makes sure you feel taken care of every time

- 11:19Speaker 3: cannabis at the fairest prices, so whether you're stocking up

- 11:31Speaker 3: even show love to the community with specials for fans, students,
- 11:35Speaker 3: service members, and healthcare pros. Cam Din Apothecary top quality cannabis,
- 11:41Speaker 3: great prices, and an experience made for Philly fans twenty
- 11:44Speaker 3: one and up.
- 11:45Speaker 2: And Emmanuel McNeil Warren Safety Toledo, big time ball skills,
- 11:50Speaker 2: good length, covers a lot of grounds, and he uses
- 11:54Speaker 2: his length and range to his advantage and covers that
- 11:58Speaker 2: really stands out as a good, big personality.
- 12:01Speaker 1: That really was evident at the NFL Scouting Combine when
- 12:04Speaker 1: he was on the podium.
- 12:05Speaker 2: There, and I think he would be a really really
- 12:10Speaker 2: ideal compliment to Drew mccouba. But I don't view him
- 12:13Speaker 2: as someone that the Eagles would take or I would
- 12:16Speaker 2: be a little shocked if the Eagles were to go
- 12:19Speaker 2: to the safety route in the first round. It's all
- 12:21Speaker 2: going to be dependent on value, obviously, but that's besides
- 12:24Speaker 2: the point. He's one of my guys this year, and
- 12:29Speaker 2: I want to highlight Cayden Proctor, the defensive lineman from
- 12:31Speaker 2: Southeastern Louisiana as well. Talk about a twitchy, explosive athletic
- 12:38Speaker 2: player who can serve as a rotational interior penetrator. He's
- 12:43Speaker 2: going to collapse the pocket. He had nine sacks last year,
- 12:46Speaker 2: two against LSU. Kind of has a skill set that
- 12:49Speaker 2: reminds me a little bit of Moro Jomo, except he
- 12:52Speaker 2: doesn't have maybe the arm length that Moro Jomo has
- 12:56Speaker 2: thirty three inch arms for Caleb, but he can with leverage.
- 13:01Speaker 1: He uses that to his advantage.
- 13:03Speaker 2: He wins with quickness, he wins with violent hands to
- 13:06Speaker 2: displace offensive lineman. Fun player to watch, is probably going
- 13:11Speaker 2: to be a late three, early fourth round type of player.
- 13:14Speaker 2: And if you scout the player and not the helmet.
- 13:19Speaker 2: He should be a third round pick based on what
- 13:20Speaker 2: he can do and the value of pass rush from
- 13:23Speaker 2: the interior.
- 13:24Speaker 1: And how that's looked at in the NFL.
- 13:27Speaker 2: Well, that's going to do it for this edition of
- 13:29Speaker 2: the Checko Delli Andrew Decheco will catch you all on
- 13:32Speaker 2: the next one.
