- 2:09mystery, a man of myth. I'm going to hold off on
- 2:16pronouncing his name. Because I think I know the
- 2:18correct pronunciation of it but I don't want to speak out of
- 2:22turn. So, stick around for today's
- 2:25episode. I think you're going to really

- 2:53This month's Rune reading green cast for you all the from from
- 3:00getting covid at the beginning of the month and and moving into
- 3:03some new work duties, responsibilities roles things of
- 3:08that nature. It's been a little bit hectic
- 3:09and I know it's weird. How things have landed Or this
- 3:14time of year for me in the past that it always tends to.
- 3:18I don't know just kind of Set things off on an interesting
- 3:25foot. But we're managing, we're
- 3:27getting through it and I hope you all are as well.
- 3:32So, yes, thank you to my patrons.
- 3:33Thank you to my channel members subscribers followers on
- 3:39Facebook Twitter. and I guess Instagram, even though the
- 3:44Instagram platform seems to not want to share most of what I
- 3:49What I publish I may have to do some technical troubleshooting
- 3:52for or that side of things, but we've got our instance going
- 3:56here. Right now.
- 3:56We've got some frankincense dual action going here, double
- 4:01barrel. Double barrel action, like in
- 4:04the wild west, baby. All right, do you want to send
- 4:09out a quick reminder to everybody in the Middle
- 4:13Tennessee area? That the Middle Tennessee?
- 4:16Heathens Facebook group that I pretty much run.
- 4:24To to help bring people of various polytheistic pass, or
- 4:29interest or kind of together. We have recently started to have
- 4:35public meetups and the next one here in Murfreesboro.
- 4:37Tennessee is taking place. Once again at the McCallister's,
- 4:41McAlister's Deli on Medical Center on July, believe us a 30
- 4:46if it's the last Saturday of this month.
- 4:49So not this coming weekend but the So if you want the details
- 4:55check the show notes for that, the address the time, and
- 4:58everything is going to be posted in the description and show
- 5:01notes of this podcast, the video description, wherever, show
- 5:04notes. And if it's the podcast video
- 5:06description area, if it's the YouTube Premiere, so that's
- 5:11pretty much the biggest. I don't know news activities.
- 5:15Things coming off coming around here in the Middle Tennessee
- 5:17area. It's still hot as balls out
- 5:20here. Ladies and gentlemen, it is You
- 5:23know, going on to 12 months of very oppressive heat and I'm
- 5:29freaking over it. This Northern boy doesn't do
- 5:32well in the Heat and II. Can't wait for things to start
- 5:38chilling out, quite literally probably going to be waiting for
- 5:43at least another two months for that to happen at the very
- 5:46least, you know, it's bad. When you can't even sit outside
- 5:49at the end of the day, when the Sun goes down and enjoy a drink,
- 5:51or a pipe or something out. Outside in the cool air, it's
- 5:54bad. When you know, it's 95 degrees
- 5:59at like 9:00 at night. But anyway, it is what it is.
- 6:05It's what I get for you know moving to Tennessee and setting
- 6:09up residence here. So You know, we gotta roll with
- 6:13the punches either that or get the hell out as they say, right.
- 6:16But I don't plan on going anywhere, not on the long term,
- 6:19my wife, my life is here. So yeah, it's going to have to
- 6:22deal with it but all right, I think that pretty much does it.
- 6:26For all of the housekeeping type stuff.
- 6:28Again, very excited to welcome in our guest today.
- 6:33You may know his face and voice from his various projects,
- 6:39including the weirding way. Maker Productions.
- 6:44Believe there's a YouTube channel is going to be all kinds
- 6:45of information that he's going to be sharing with me today.
- 6:48And once again, I do not want to mispronounce his name, so I will
- 6:52introduce you soon. As I bring him in here, to join
- 6:55us on this week's episode of the random, human ramblings podcast.
- 6:59Let's welcome them in. All right, folks, we do have a
- 7:08very special guest. As I mentioned earlier, coming
- 7:10to us remotely from Canada in the British Columbia regions.
- 7:15So, welcome to the podcast Heron.
- 7:17Oh she thanks so much. Yeah, it's great to be here from
- 7:21deep in the Valhalla mountains of Canada, is that literally
- 7:25their name. Like, if we were to try to get
- 7:28to these mountain ranges in Canada, is if the Valhalla
- 7:31mountains? It's actually the Valhalla
- 7:33mountains, it's Valhalla. I live right edge of Valhalla
- 7:36Park. Actually lived off-grid
- 7:39literally on the border of Valhalla park for about four
- 7:42years with full off-grid power. And my backyard was like, as far
- 7:47as humans could, walk will learn where the Valhalla mountains
- 7:52named after all the old gods. And then on the other mountain
- 7:55range is actually Mount Loki. Mountain, Loki is not in the
- 7:59valhalla's. That's, that's a that's
- 8:02appropriate, right? Yeah.
- 8:05Is that guy he's, he's kind of been, you know, he had his
- 8:07chances with as Garden. They kind of gave me the old
- 8:10boot, as it were. There's a mellow key here, but
- 8:14it's on the other side of another mountain range.
- 8:16Gotcha, gotcha, and your native to British Columbia, right?
- 8:20You're you're a morning already. I did grow up in Canada and was
- 8:26born in Canada. I grew up out eastern, Ontario
- 8:30and removed. British Columbia in my 20s.
- 8:33My early 20s. Fantastic.
- 8:37My band. And a lot of it bellick hippie
- 8:40busts from some hippies and are rock, and metal Peg, and bands,
- 8:45drove across Canada, and landed in the mountains here, and
- 8:48stayed in British Columbia. That must have been a I mean, I
- 8:53can only imagine is like driving.
- 8:55I've driven cross-country here in the US and just seeing the
- 9:00different Landscapes, seeing the transition from how it is on the
- 9:04east coast of the United States to how it is on the west coast.
- 9:06I'm sure that there's Maybe some similar Transitions and things
- 9:12from from going across Canada east to west.
- 9:14But it's such a mind-blowing thing.
- 9:18When you, you know, see the Rockies or you know, you travel
- 9:22across the Badlands or you're you know, going across like
- 9:25Death Valley or just some of these other like really iconic.
- 9:29Geographical locations was kind of the equivalent from growing
- 9:34up around New York and traveling to California.
- 9:37Hmm. Yeah.
- 9:38Yeah. So I'm originally from New York,
- 9:40you know? And I moved to Tennessee and
- 9:43since moving to Tennessee about 16 years ago or so I've traveled
- 9:49all almost all of the lower 48, you know, Continental lower 48,
- 9:54United States. Haven't been to Alaska, haven't
- 9:58been to of all places Montana like, I've somehow happened to
- 10:02Miss Montana and Idaho but those three places I haven't been to
- 10:06but all of the rest of the lower 48 and I've been to Hawaii to
- 10:09which is a amazing location if you've never been nice.
- 10:14Nice. But yeah guys um yeah so Heron
- 10:19Great Name by the way for those that follow what I do, you know
- 10:25on them The midgard musings page and some of the stuff that I
- 10:28post about, I've really gotten into going on these like
- 10:31Barefoot nature walks as part of kind of, like, just my mental
- 10:34health vacations, you know, like taking care of myself,
- 10:37physically, spiritually holistically, going out into
- 10:40nature, walking barefoot and walking through this River.
- 10:44And as of late, there's been a very active presence of The
- 10:50water bird, a heron and even though your name is not spelled
- 10:54the same way, it is pronounced as it is, you know, the actual
- 10:57bird. So it's kind of neat to me just
- 10:59to know like we've talked around having you on this podcast,
- 11:03almost, I think since last year, you know, and and you had some
- 11:07other projects and things going on, which I'm anxious to talk
- 11:10about, you know, the things that you're known for and what you're
- 11:12involved in. So it's really great to finally
- 11:16get, you know, we've had some other scheduling hiccups along
- 11:18the way but we're here we are. Finally, more than halfway
- 11:20through this year, finally, getting a chance to sit down and
- 11:24talk. So it's pretty special for me
- 11:26and really appreciate your, you know, presence here and being
- 11:30being available. Great.
- 11:31I'm stoked to be here. Stokes chat.
- 11:34Great. So I do want to talk about when
- 11:37I when I, when I think, when I first met you online, I don't
- 11:42even remember exactly the correlation of the connection
- 11:46and it might have been through some like Pagan music group or
- 11:49Thing like that. But following what you do, so
- 11:51publicly, you've got your hands in many different pots or you
- 11:55wear many different hats. So once you kind of share with
- 11:59the people here, what it is you do in the entertainment sector
- 12:06and then some things that people might be aware of or know about.
- 12:10Yeah, I mean, what I've done, the longest and most recognized
- 12:14for, in most known for is mythmaker Productions.
- 12:18So myth maker. ER, is a pagan Heathen ritual,
- 12:22theater production company that I've been doing for over 20
- 12:26years, and it all started from Pagan ceremony and Pagan ritual
- 12:31like different, you know, backgrounds that I learned from
- 12:34and I never went to theater school, you know?
- 12:37I'm not a theater director that went to a university or anything
- 12:39like that. I learned ritual in a
- 12:41traditional traditional Scottish witchcraft coven, and that's
- 12:46where my theater came from, and that was a lot of the The ways
- 12:50that the high priestess practiced was a lot about
- 12:55invocation and and really drawing down the gods and
- 12:59drawing down, you know, animistic characteristics into
- 13:03us. And so that's kind of where my
- 13:04theater background came from and mythmaker.
- 13:07Kind of started out here in the valhalla's.
- 13:10I studied traditional Scottish witchcraft in out east.
- 13:14And then when I came out here, there was a lot of big kind of
- 13:17pagan hippie, Gatherings, but not a lot of people really knew
- 13:20what they were doing magically either than like singing and
- 13:23dancing and drumming under the full moon.
- 13:25And I was like, you know, you can, you can do things with
- 13:27that. And so, we started doing giant
- 13:30Pagan, Gatherings on the holidays, on the full moons.
- 13:35Summer solstice things like that summer, solstice was the biggest
- 13:39one and, and basically We you know, after several years of a
- 13:44bunch of us locally collaborating with that and me
- 13:46being the ritual leader doing like 500-person rituals in these
- 13:51big Festival, kind of atmospheres, we cleared the
- 13:55space. The one time we built this whole
- 13:57Gateway and I like rows of didgeridoos and some sage and
- 14:00things like that. Have people come back for the
- 14:03full moon rich or for the summer solstice ritual.
- 14:06And there was this one guy with his kid and he was like really
- 14:10uncomfortable. And he was like What's going on
- 14:12here? What is all this?
- 14:13And I was like, well, we're doing a summer solstice ritual
- 14:15with the community. And, you know, music, I didn't
- 14:17come for this. And I was like, well, it's on
- 14:19the poster and we're going to base and bring it back in and he
- 14:25was very uncomfortable with the whole thing and it kind of you
- 14:29know, we did the ceremony in the ritual and it was amazing. 500
- 14:31people dancing around the fire, like music, all kinds of things
- 14:36very nondenominational in that scenario, which is very
- 14:39animistic and but it really Hit me.
- 14:42I was like this guy was really scared, you know, and I
- 14:46understand like the culture Christianity and all that around
- 14:50you know paganism and even ISM and that.
- 14:53But for myself I was like in these small communities, you
- 14:56know, like are we preaching to the converted?
- 14:58You know, is it all like the Pagan and heathens and people
- 15:00comfortable with that that are comfortable, but what about the
- 15:03Grandeur community? And that's, you know, in the
- 15:05Covenant and one of the things I learned because I practiced
- 15:08Solitaire before that was how much true?
- 15:12Additional Scottish Witchcraft. And a lot of these northern
- 15:14European Pagan Traditions were about Community weren't just
- 15:18about one person. I was about to commit a family
- 15:21in a community surviving in nature through animistic
- 15:24perceptions of how we engage with nature and magic.
- 15:28And so it's kind of how mythmaker start was out of that
- 15:31ritual. The next year, I was like, well,
- 15:33let's do a show, let's do a theatrical production and we'll
- 15:38still, you know, do the magic but will do.
- 15:42Is an interactive kind of theatrical production with
- 15:44stories and characters in the whole thing.
- 15:46And so that was the birth of myth maker of ritual theater.
- 15:49And then, the whole Community is involved, you know, and like
- 15:52Grandma Ginny and Little Billy there.
- 15:54What could the guy with the fire swords Billy?
- 15:56Isn't that cool? And meanwhile, I got like, you
- 15:58know, the horn crown on and I'm like, invoking the ancient gods,
- 16:02you know, but at the same time, it's a more tangible Tramp, you
- 16:06know, for the Grandeur community and so that was the beginning of
- 16:09mythmaker about 20 some odd years.
- 16:12Years ago and since then I've got a giant green antlered tour
- 16:16bus and you Gara that we travel around the west coast of North
- 16:20America doing ritual, theater festivals.
- 16:24So I've done that for a long time and then before that I was
- 16:27in bands and played music and so at some point through mythmaker,
- 16:34I realized this needs to be a band.
- 16:37This needs I was always writing a soundtracks and doing a lot of
- 16:40the interactive stuff with theater.
- 16:42And storytelling, but I was like, really, to engage with
- 16:46Cults, engage with culture, and to take this, to the next level,
- 16:48and he's to be a band. Music was always my first
- 16:50Passion and so, that's where the weirding way begin.
- 16:53And so, the weirding way was mythmaker into a full like
- 16:58Heathen Pagan progressive rock psychedelic, you know, ritual
- 17:04music scenario with the aspects of mythmaker to it.
- 17:08So, really weirding way in mythmaker are both from Um the
- 17:12same Visionary route from the same inspiration of animism and
- 17:16ritual. And you know in those things and
- 17:19in the weirding way I'm doing like you know I've got the horn
- 17:22and I'm doing the Mead ceremonies and the music is all
- 17:25deeply cathartic. And you know very to Laskin
- 17:28border, una huiling asking, you know, and it's it's hybrid isms.
- 17:33And yeah, so that's it was the weirding way psychedelic Megan.
- 17:38He then shame on and 7-piece with like, 12 to 15.
- 17:42Farmers and antlers and horns and Shields and fire sword, and
- 17:45all that stuff. And then my other personal
- 17:50offering is in more of my animistic shamanic path is the
- 17:55Warrior's path. And that's my whole YouTube
- 17:58channel where I do Rune meditations and counseling and
- 18:04talking about, you know, the Pagan path and the beaten path
- 18:07and how we engage in with each other, and with society.
- 18:11And how to Deconstruct our perception back into some of the
- 18:14old ways. So those are some of the things
- 18:16that's, you know, that's a few of the things that I do.
- 18:21Yeah, takes up for my life. That's, that's what I would say.
- 18:24So, I mean, it sounds, it sounds like an absolute lifestyle.
- 18:27They like, this doesn't, this isn't no, this is no casual, you
- 18:31know, hobby for you. Like, this is life, you live it.
- 18:35I live it. It's pretty much, you know, I
- 18:38eat it for breakfast, I go to sleep at night.
- 18:42Doing this maker weirding way Warrior's path.
- 18:49You know. Right now I'm bringing a whole
- 18:51crew to burning man. I run a hundred and fifty person
- 18:54can burn and a 50-person fire ritual.
- 18:56There we this will be our 12th year the burn and it has a hole
- 19:02Heathen, Pagan Camp. We've got a mead Hall with like
- 19:05five kegs of need and it's my bus now turns into a giant
- 19:07flaming Viking ship. Wow.
- 19:10And yeah, it's like legit people that go out to the uninhabitable
- 19:14desert where, you know, nothing lives out there and eighty
- 19:19thousand persons City, pops up for two weeks and we build our
- 19:22150 person Viking Village in that City and light up the fire
- 19:27swords and you know, build fire-breathing dragons you know
- 19:31to allow But shit I had and I didn't realize the pain.
- 19:37Yeah, I never never. Yeah, I never realized how big
- 19:42of a production just burning man itself was, I watched some
- 19:48videos online and and and I think he has some of them were
- 19:53videos that came through from you or at least were released
- 19:56through the Warriors Path, YouTube channel or somewhere.
- 19:59Like I saw like some of the some of the sequences of events that
- 20:03took place and I'm like hisses, massive.
- 20:05Like this, you know, I'll literally like you say a whole
- 20:08City's population pops up. The middle of nowhere.
- 20:13How does how does, how does that even get coordinated?
- 20:15Like, what is the do you have any insight to that?
- 20:18I mean, you've been a part of it for the last decade.
- 20:19Plus, it's in your way. But like, how is that as I work?
- 20:24It's really interesting. Organic anomaly, the scenario
- 20:29Burning Man, itself, no one could have planned it in the
- 20:33Whether it's evolved from the way that's and really was just
- 20:38an accident. So I don't know if the fates,
- 20:39you know, I don't the norns woven into existence or who
- 20:41were, what did what make this thing happen, but it's a
- 20:44cultural and dominant anomaly, that inspires new paradigm, a
- 20:49new culture, you know, like I didn't go for years.
- 20:52We did ritual theater different festivals and events and we did
- 20:55the midnight ceremonies and for years.
- 20:56People were like, do you go to Burning Man?
- 20:58Your so Burning Man. And, you know, they had a culty
- 21:00glazed. Look about burning man and I
- 21:02found it really Annoying actually.
- 21:04And I was like, no, we do ritual theater.
- 21:06We do intentional theater and burning man.
- 21:08Just sounds like a big debaucherous ship Fest in the
- 21:10desert, like we don't go to Raves, we don't do, you know.
- 21:14That kind of thing. We're like, no, no, you don't
- 21:16understand Burning Man. And I was like, you know, I got
- 21:21I got to pay my heathens like we're surviving like, you know,
- 21:24at that time we were traveling like, two and a half months on
- 21:26my bus and, you know, traveling nomadic lifestyle, you know, in
- 21:30that way. And I'm like, I got to feed
- 21:32these people and burning man doesn't pay anybody, you know,
- 21:36burning man. You know, you gotta buy your
- 21:37ticket to burning man. I was like, will go and someone
- 21:40buys his tickets and the next year, a philanthropist from
- 21:43Spain. My website called me up and was
- 21:46like, I love what you do with the ritual and theater in the
- 21:48mythology and the symbolism like come can't wait to Camp with us
- 21:51a burning men, we don't go and he was like, I'll pay all your
- 21:55gas and pay all your tickets. I got one of my guys want to
- 21:58Burning Man and my tour bus. My greenhorn blew blew up the
- 22:05transmission blew that summer, and I called them up to cancel
- 22:08and he was like, how much is another bus?
- 22:11And so, the bus that I have now that turned into To the giant
- 22:14dragon stage was actually bought for us to go to Burning Man.
- 22:18The philanthropist bought us a new bus now and I showed up on
- 22:22pause as they call it and desert and I put my foot in my mouth, I
- 22:28was so wrong. I gave me hope for Humanity.
- 22:31I got there and I was like this is the most amazing thing.
- 22:36I think I've ever seen or heard of humans doing, you know in my
- 22:39mind was blown seven times in the first day of just, you know
- 22:43it's a gift culture. Radical self-reliance.
- 22:45So everyone brings what they need.
- 22:48I've been you know something my perceptions been training for
- 22:50the apocalypse since I was like four years old.
- 22:52So for me this is ideal apocalypse training for when the
- 22:55shit hits the fan and it all goes down.
- 22:57Those of us that have really adapted to the way a burning man
- 23:00are going to have an advantage over the rest of society.
- 23:04And its you know it wasn't the debaucherous shitshow party that
- 23:08I thought it was annoying. People are there and they're
- 23:10partying in there, you know and there's like dea raid stages bad
- 23:13but really We it's a new it's a whole other Paradigm.
- 23:17Like Just the concept of gays to come.
- 23:22So, outside of our Western consumer culture, it takes days
- 23:26to acclimatize to the fact that you got radical self-reliance.
- 23:29So you bring everything you need and then it's a gift economy.
- 23:32So you bring things to give and everywhere is just people
- 23:35looking you in the eye for wanting to, you know, teach each
- 23:38other things show each other things, give each other things,
- 23:41and it's like, it's phenomenal. And then you got guys would like
- 23:44flamethrowers like, you know, where like people burning giant
- 23:47release and, you know, there's A temple there, that all we people
- 23:52is a non-denominational Temple. People, go pray in the temple,
- 23:55right? Things on the walls, leaves,
- 23:57things from their loved ones that have passed away.
- 23:59And you know, Saturday night, the man and burns with theirs,
- 24:04which is this giant, you know, Crescendo of cacophony of
- 24:09insanity. That one of the man burns is
- 24:11just explosive and like cathartic.
- 24:14And then the next night, Sunday night the temple burn and it's
- 24:1780 thousand people dead. Silent, you can hear the temple
- 24:20crackle and people are just crying and like releasing, you
- 24:23know, into into these ritual. Like it's ancient ritual,
- 24:28brought back for culture and some people go.
- 24:30And that, you know, it's an ambient experience for them in
- 24:33that in that ritual way and other people, whether they
- 24:36intentionally know it or just succumb to the symbolism of it
- 24:40in the ritual of it. It really affects perception.
- 24:44And I've seen, oh yeah, huge transformation there with people
- 24:48like berdych and I mean, the desert does it to like two weeks
- 24:51in the desert, going to kick the shit out of you.
- 24:53So it's humbling, you know and then same that the dust storms
- 24:55there. It's like, you got 80,000,
- 24:56people partying, and building heart and doing all these
- 24:59things. And when that dust storm comes
- 25:00in, everyone is equal, everyone's, you know, huddled in
- 25:04a tent or got a dust mask and goggles on, and it's just like
- 25:07nature. The raw power of nature is come
- 25:09in and humbled, everyone for that moment when it passes
- 25:13everyone rebuilds and celebrate crates.
- 25:17So, yeah, it's really, it's really interesting and it's I
- 25:18heard it from a loose Pagan ritual, like the founder Larry
- 25:22Harvey. It started in San Francisco and
- 25:25his girlfriend broke up with him and he was having some really
- 25:30emotional scenario. So he built a burning man down
- 25:33on the beach Baker's beach in San Francisco and in about 60,
- 25:37people are so circled around and they did this who will have
- 25:40released The Burning Man and and that was its early, early roots
- 25:44and then everybody loved it so much.
- 25:46The next year, they were like, let's do it again and they built
- 25:48a big Bigger, man, brought it down to the baker's Beach, and,
- 25:51you know, and the police were like, you can't do that here.
- 25:55And so, they stopped it and it's some of the people from the
- 25:56KakaoTalk ID in San Francisco and some other groups were like
- 26:00well we know where you can go and do anything you want.
- 26:02And that's when they went out to the Nevada, desert and started
- 26:05burning man and the first years Super Mad Max like it was real.
- 26:09It was like really crazy and now it's huge and international so
- 26:13there's no the organization of it has there's a little more
- 26:18safe. Rules then.
- 26:19Yeah, you know, you talk about things like ritual theater and
- 26:24the cathartic elements of the whether it's music whether it's
- 26:28you know watching someone perform with flaming blades or
- 26:32shooting fire or just the Burning Man the the burning of
- 26:36this large. Figure and the cathartic
- 26:40elements about it. You know when when I first got
- 26:43into you know paganism about seven or eight years ago and it
- 26:47was you know a northern European dramatic path that I followed,
- 26:50you know, it was it was very I was very new into it.
- 26:53I came into this, you know, from previously being Christian my
- 26:57whole life. So the whole religious aspect of
- 27:00the World Views, the the ceremonial the, the ritual
- 27:04aspects of things was very new to me.
- 27:07I hadn't quite ever felt Thing like what I feel now but the
- 27:11things that I have felt ever since coming into this path have
- 27:15have occurred when I'm doing things on a much smaller scale
- 27:19but the things like what you're talking about like we have
- 27:22usually once a year during one of our holy Tides.
- 27:27Usually I think it we've traditionally been doing it in
- 27:29during like the Seeger bloat welcoming of the summer.
- 27:32Type events will will build will build the Wicker man.
- 27:35He's about maybe 6 feet, 7 feet tall, All tops, but it's
- 27:39assembled from the branches and the twine in the straw and stuff
- 27:43that we collect ourselves by hand.
- 27:46And everybody in our little group, puts their hands to the
- 27:49assembly of this figure. So when you set fire to them and
- 27:55and everything like to just the release of it and I don't know
- 27:58it's on a much smaller scale but I get the relation of it and it
- 28:02is. It's so You know, you can't
- 28:07compare that to anything else that I've ever experienced in
- 28:10life, whether you know, going to church, right?
- 28:12Let's say you're or any other sort of not taken away from
- 28:15people that find Value in that. And that Find meaning in that
- 28:18because that's not the same things aren't for everybody.
- 28:21But I don't know man. Like I love how you talk about
- 28:26the ritual theater and I'm hoping we could talk a little
- 28:28bit about that you know, combining your spirituality or
- 28:34or putting focus and giving life to those things because
- 28:38otherwise it's just, you know, what do you read in a book?
- 28:40You know the stories that were told by mouth but then you're
- 28:43taking those stores or you're applying those the methos and
- 28:47you're bringing it to Life by acting It Out by putting on the
- 28:51Persona. Bye-bye.
- 28:51Dawning. The ritual Garb I've been given
- 28:54so Shit over that over the years.
- 28:55You know, I get told that I'm possessed or that I'm, you know,
- 28:59evil or whatever. Because of the face painter,
- 29:01because of the look that I have, and I'm like, but it's, it's
- 29:04part of the ritual. It's embracing that aspect of
- 29:08your spirituality and really letting it carry you and and it
- 29:12carries others because they absorb it, they see it, they
- 29:15experienced it, you know? And you don't see that much in
- 29:21like your traditional Western. Culture, you know?
- 29:27And I mean it is it's, it's transformational, you know?
- 29:30And I say, you know, I warn the crew when we're training, I'm
- 29:34like, okay, like here we are we're doing a theater show or
- 29:36we're going to Burning Man, or going to be specimens or doing
- 29:38whatever and it's like, but this is ritual theater.
- 29:41This is deep symbolic. You know, archetypical
- 29:45embodiments that were tapping into, like, you know, we're here
- 29:48to do this to help transform and create a cathartic experience
- 29:52for the audience, but it's going to happen.
- 29:54You first you know it's like when your audience the gods and
- 29:58your embodying the animal spirits you know it has an
- 30:02effect on perception and Consciousness you know and I
- 30:05danced in many worlds and hold many perspectives, I've studied
- 30:09a lot of different traditions and mythologies from around the
- 30:11world and rituals from around the world.
- 30:13Now, I also see studied depth psychology and jungian
- 30:17psychology and things like that. And there's, you know, there's
- 30:19that symbolic archetypical embodiment that really catalyzes
- 30:28and transforms perception and Consciousness can make things
- 30:32happen. And now, whether that's like on
- 30:35a realm of like deep metaphysical, you know, magical
- 30:40scenarios or symbolic psychological scenarios.
- 30:43Now, I hold many different Perceptions in that, but what I
- 30:46do see is that it works and really that's the tools that I'm
- 30:49looking for in the tools that I'm looking to utilize this
- 30:51like, you know, I'm not quite sure how it works on the depth
- 30:55of the depth of it, you know, whether it's, you know,
- 30:58psychological or whether it's deep metaphysical, but I see the
- 31:01transformation, I see what it does, to the people embodying,
- 31:05you know, the animal spirits and the gods and ancestors and the
- 31:09people in the audience that, you know, that witness it people
- 31:14that come up afterwards and are just like that was like nothing
- 31:18I've ever life-changing. I felt.
- 31:19Yeah, yeah, but I've never felt before and it's, you know, it's
- 31:22been lost in our culture and that's we're here to reclaim
- 31:25that, you know, and that's like the whole myth make the whole
- 31:28myth maker, it's like we're here to make those myths.
- 31:30Were to study the Ancient Ancient tales in the ancient
- 31:33scenarios, but we're here to make a new myth, you know.
- 31:36And that's what the artists would do, you know, to quote,
- 31:39you know, to Loosely quote turns McKenna who is a phenomenal They
- 31:43are of Consciousness and perception through the
- 31:45Psychedelic and shamanic Realms, but he said that was always the
- 31:49job of the artist was to pave, new ways for culture.
- 31:54And in this culture Artisan in lost, our artists have been, you
- 31:57know, slaves are lured and all kinds of stuff, you know.
- 32:01Yeah, yeah. So if you're a creative artist,
- 32:02you get censored, or you get, you know, shoved in a corner and
- 32:06if you know, if you're a popular artist, you get told what to do
- 32:09by the culture and by the media machine.
- 32:12So it's just propagating. This The same bye-bye shock
- 32:15shock shallow shallow as opposed you know the role of the the
- 32:20Deep ritualistic artist that was the original.
- 32:23Purveyor of art was like that channeling the Divine that that
- 32:27magic Spirit coming through and that artist tapping the unknown
- 32:31to lead culture into a new myth into a new narrative into the
- 32:35new story and our culture's been looping.
- 32:39Because those that we've the new narrative have been feeding the
- 32:43old narrative, Liv that's shallow and disconnected.
- 32:46And so and gets, you know, to inspire and empower the artist
- 32:51tap into magic again to tap into that inspiration, where we're
- 32:54being controversial, we're bringing new ideas.
- 32:57We're bringing new Pathways new ways to think educating, right?
- 33:00Yeah. And it's tricky in this world
- 33:02because that's not what this world Embraces, but it seems
- 33:05like that this world really needs.
- 33:08So yeah. So we're good, it's not easy.
- 33:11No. I mean, I think I speak for A
- 33:13lot of people in that, you know, individuals like yourself in
- 33:17groups that you have assembled, and people who share the like
- 33:21mind as you. I think I speak for a lot of
- 33:25people and that we appreciate that, because it does help a lot
- 33:30of folks, tap into that side of things that have been yearning
- 33:35to break free, right? It's been like underneath the
- 33:38surface for so long that we just have been blind to it.
- 33:42And, you know, I've recently had some guests on here that also
- 33:47have shamanic practices, you know, jmo, listen, filled with
- 33:51your Workshop, James from the Ravens, say chilling out in
- 33:55Australia and some others, you know, so much of this.
- 34:00So much of these practices have been have been turning more
- 34:03towards the animism, the, the living nature aspects and you
- 34:08can't really talk about these types of things without bringing
- 34:11up, you know, people like McKenna and and and some others
- 34:15that are of that of just, you know, Pioneers, paved the way
- 34:18really set the, the whole tone for these types of things.
- 34:23And I really think that because of that and because of because
- 34:27we're not over here, just talking about tripping shrooms
- 34:29bro, you know, like Because it's not that it's deeper than that.
- 34:32Those may be aspects or elements to certain, you know, the
- 34:38application, you know, in the addition of those psychedelics
- 34:41and what not like I'm an advocate for it and I think that
- 34:43it's they have their place, but we're not just sitting here
- 34:46talking about getting messed up. Like we're talking about living
- 34:51a living spirituality, a living way at something that you just
- 34:55you wake up, you live throughout your day, you go to bed and the
- 34:59cycle repeats. It's and it's just the natural
- 35:02living aspect being connected to life around us.
- 35:07That has always been there. We've been able to see it exists
- 35:11and we can we know that it exists, but our connection to
- 35:14that level of existence is heightened.
- 35:19When we talk about, you know, the, the healing nature of the
- 35:21drum or the, or the ceremonial ritual, theater practices, like
- 35:25it's, and so many people are into that and do the things that
- 35:29you like, you do. And others that you mentioned
- 35:31like worth Runa and how long in Midland and some of these other
- 35:34ceremonial bands that bring this to their performance.
- 35:39It awakens this I think Primal nature within a lot of us you
- 35:42know. Absolutely.
- 35:44And that's the thing as what are, you know, what are the
- 35:46tools? You know, these are tools for us
- 35:48to tap into a more Primal aspect of ourself a more in tune with
- 35:52nature, more ancient part of our self and there's a power there.
- 35:55There's a power there that's been missing from our community
- 35:58you know in the culture at Large.
- 36:00You know, has trained us away from those Powers you know and
- 36:03that's a much bigger conversation.
- 36:06Yeah. Philosophy and culture and
- 36:08perceptual conversations but yeah, utilizing those tools, you
- 36:12know, and like I'm an advocate for responsible use of plant
- 36:14medicines. I've said a lot of traditions,
- 36:17everything from potentials of how it was used in, you know,
- 36:21our northern European cultures to, you know, I spent 20 years
- 36:24in the Native American Church peyote church.
- 36:27I've been down to Mexico. I work with plant medicines in.
- 36:30Aspects for a long time and I mean, even the roots of all of
- 36:35mythmaker and what I'm doing, you know, I was interested in
- 36:39studying in traditional northern European ways before I played
- 36:45with and dabbled with psychedelics.
- 36:47But psychedelics were really what opened me up to a lot of
- 36:50this, you know. It's yeah.
- 36:51They awaken you to the yeah, I don't know.
- 36:54That's new layer when and, you know, and that's kind of like,
- 36:58you know, I was kind of told to go do this.
- 37:00Whatever, you know, aspect that was when I was a lot younger.
- 37:03And when I was studying in the coven and I was curious about
- 37:07plant medicines because, you know, we're eating a little bit,
- 37:09some mushrooms at parties as a teenager kind of thing.
- 37:11And I was like, there's something I don't think this is
- 37:14what people think it is and you know, and I my teacher asked the
- 37:19high priestess. I was like, well what about
- 37:20plant medicines and she was like, oh, be careful with that.
- 37:23Like you know, we do work with that but in like higher levels
- 37:27of initiation when you really have your foundations and you're
- 37:29really know what Doing then archery you know, works with
- 37:33mushrooms and things like that but only in certain situations.
- 37:37So I really suggest against it and she knew me so well she was
- 37:40like and I know when you don't listen to me and you go do it
- 37:43anyway they you should hide it from me and come to me.
- 37:47And so, yeah. The next weekend, I had a party
- 37:49at my jam. Hold my band and I ate seven
- 37:51grams of mushroom caps. You know, how did my hand?
- 37:55It was like, what do you got? Like, there's something here.
- 37:58What do you got? And I had them.
- 38:00In Dental, other worldly life expanding dissolving into the
- 38:06cosmic Universe. Like seeing all my past, like I
- 38:09had the most transcendental experience, you know, I'd had up
- 38:13until then that shattered my world view and, you know, and
- 38:16something in that told me to go do these things that I'm doing.
- 38:20And so that's kind of been like part of the passion and part of
- 38:23the drive of what I've been doing is, you know, something in
- 38:26the animistic, unconsciousness through the The plant medicines
- 38:31and ritual said, go do these things and it's been a fun ride
- 38:35the whole time. So it's been a lot of work now,
- 38:38it's brought a lot of perception and Magic into the world and
- 38:41I've seen how it's affected people and I'm still here
- 38:46plugging away. Yeah, I mean and that's got to
- 38:48be rewarding, you know, when you, when you've devoted your
- 38:52life to something and have touched people's lives in ways
- 38:56that it's visible to you, you know, like, you can see the The
- 39:00impact on the world or on a group, you know, that you have.
- 39:03And I mean, that's, that's rewarding and it inspires you
- 39:06to, to keep at it, you know, I somewhat so much of where I've
- 39:13kind of arrived at my stage of the game, you know, where, where
- 39:16I've where I came from to where I am now and then obviously not
- 39:20knowing where I'm sometimes. I don't, you know, like I think
- 39:23I know where I'm going. But at on the other hand, I'm
- 39:25also just kind of like just cruising like I'll get to
- 39:28wherever I get. However, I get there.
- 39:30I really have no destination in mind.
- 39:31I'm just well, whatever happens along the way.
- 39:34I'm just gonna, you know, deal with it.
- 39:36But, you know, like, I talked about earlier, like, Me coming
- 39:41from Christianity into paganism and specifically like dramatic
- 39:44or Norse paganism. It was all about the gods, this
- 39:47the gods that we're, and I had absolutely no freaking clue
- 39:52about really what that meant and it wasn't until I stepped away
- 39:57from that aspect of things and got closer to my community, got
- 40:01closer to my people and closer to like my immediate
- 40:04spirituality like my ancestors and the local spirits that dwell
- 40:08near and around me the land, the house.
- 40:10You know, all of the various seen and unseen Spiritual Beings
- 40:16that are as sentient. And as present as we as humans,
- 40:20are we just maybe can't see them with the physical eye, but they
- 40:23are there, it wasn't really until then that I realized like,
- 40:27huh. Now now I focus on that more and
- 40:31I connect more with that started, realizing that the path
- 40:36to the gods is later on, in the practice of things.
- 40:41It's not the first thing that one should come to in my, in my
- 40:46humble opinion, right? It's not it.
- 40:47You may get that kind of like shocking romantic attraction to
- 40:53the gods, or to the sacred, but you're not even.
- 40:56I don't think so many people are really Going to fully get that
- 41:01connection to them because they are there different than us
- 41:04there. That it's to me at least it's,
- 41:05you know, a separation between the sacred and the profane.
- 41:07There's there's a definite difference between us as beings
- 41:11and how we are a part of this, these Realms, this, this world
- 41:16this universe, so connecting in that way.
- 41:19Take some time and it takes Connecting to our higher selves,
- 41:23our are more Primal deeper spiritual knit, natural forms to
- 41:28to even get close to connecting to such.
- 41:33The Divine beings, you know, I don't know that.
- 41:36That's just kind of where I've that's where I'm at right now.
- 41:38That's where I've come from. Some of the things I've
- 41:40experienced. Yeah, and it's building
- 41:44relationship. You know like that says, learn
- 41:46from a lot of the teachers that I work with, you know, and I
- 41:48worked. You know, I worked with some you
- 41:50know, Rufus, vulvas from from Norway that we've done.
- 41:53Like, you know, deep deep journeying into, you know, the
- 41:56ancient Norse Traditions, I've studied in Celtic witchcraft.
- 42:00I've studied in, you know, in place of animistic cultures
- 42:04around the world from you know First Nations here with the
- 42:06Peyote to down in Mexico and down in South America and you
- 42:09know and things like that and it's you know as we as we work.
- 42:12Avatar, as we work with, you know, whatever, whatever the
- 42:15different culture has named for the Unseen Consciousness that
- 42:22pervades around us. And that the beings from
- 42:24everything. From the little, you know, the
- 42:26little tiny gnomish beings to, you know, to the mountain guitar
- 42:30to the ancestors, the gods, it's a relationship.
- 42:33You know, we're building a healthy relationship, we're
- 42:35getting to know and relating with these beings.
- 42:40And that's, you know what, some of my, you know, Northern
- 42:42Mysteries. Others of, you know, told me
- 42:43it's like Alec, you're cultivating a relationship, you
- 42:46know. It's I mean, that's absolutely
- 42:49100% agree to it kind of goes back to what I was mentioning
- 42:52when we first started here and I was introducing you and saying,
- 42:55hey, this guy's name is heron like it's his name is.
- 42:58Literally the name of a bird that I've come very close to in
- 43:02my nature walks and in walking through the river because it's
- 43:04like I'm walking in their room. Now I'm taking myself out of my
- 43:08house. My my normal severe you know
- 43:11civilized living. You know, with my comfortable
- 43:14air conditioning in my climate controlled environments.
- 43:17And I'm literally stripping down to the, my bare feet, you know,
- 43:21my bare skin, and I'm walking in the waters that these creatures,
- 43:25these, these beings, these Spirits live in, and getting to
- 43:30share space and time and getting close to them and being around
- 43:33them. Even if it's just, you know, for
- 43:36the moment It's like it kind of no man like it's so it's like a
- 43:40gift each time to me to get a chance to share that space and
- 43:45it's like, you say, building that relationship.
- 43:48And then when you build something, what do you have to
- 43:49do? When, after you build it is, you
- 43:51have to maintain it. It's not that you just do it
- 43:54that one time he like, I've reached my height and self like,
- 43:56nah man, you know, you just started the process.
- 44:00Now, it's now it's maintaining it now.
- 44:02It's continuing that and cultivating and nurturing it,
- 44:04and all the things that come with with it, and I think The
- 44:07really neat things to think about is how with building
- 44:12things. And with cultivating, things,
- 44:15death, occurs, destruction, occurs, right?
- 44:18Animals things, everything, dies, everything, everything
- 44:21Withers, right. There's that dormancy stage.
- 44:23There's that time. When things have to be laid to
- 44:26rest to be reborn, right? It's not all, just like, oh once
- 44:29you're here, you're here. And it's all nice and fun and
- 44:32pretty and happy and you know you're friends with each other
- 44:35and you know, things get lost. Lost things died away and
- 44:39things. Sometimes, you have to let
- 44:40things go but it's part of that relationship building and
- 44:44maintaining like, I don't know how you think about that but to
- 44:46me it's all part of the greater picture of things.
- 44:51Yeah, yeah. We're always shedding you ever
- 44:53levels and new layers and, you know, similar to the tower card.
- 44:56You know, I've had sex of my Consciousness and perception
- 45:01crumble and rebuild enough times that there's a fluidity, their
- 45:05thoughts. I go, I don't doubt that the way
- 45:07I see the world, Now and you know, in my beliefs or
- 45:10perceptions, you know, I don't doubt that they're going to
- 45:13crumble again. So you know, to another depth in
- 45:15another layer of, you know, of clear perception, you know.
- 45:19And we're, you know, when we're taught in this, this broken
- 45:22weird, you know, disjointed culture, how to perceive
- 45:25reality, and what, the description, the default
- 45:27description of reality is and what being a human is, and what
- 45:31nature is, you know? And as we loosen, those
- 45:34descriptions to seek something, a More closer to the truth.
- 45:39You know, the more those descriptions died and those
- 45:43parts of us and those constructs of us die, in order to be reborn
- 45:48into a deeper understanding, you know, of what is going on in
- 45:52nature, what is going on in the universe?
- 45:54What is going on in my mind? What is going?
- 45:56You know, who am? I is a human, and what it nature
- 45:58and wait a minute. The story we were told is
- 46:00actually bullshit and nobody knows what the hell's going on,
- 46:03okay, right. Oh it's like, you know, they No,
- 46:07what's going on? And the story that's got the
- 46:09narrative that's going on in the world and the culture, you know,
- 46:12is a load of shit to keep us working in factories and, you
- 46:15know, monkeys making the goal, you know, as opposed to the old
- 46:19ways where it was curiosity. You know, it was that that
- 46:23seeking that like what is, you know, like Odin the all-father,
- 46:27you know, that's his endless search for wisdom, you know, as
- 46:30endless sacrifice for wisdom, you know?
- 46:32It's like, what is reality? What is the world?
- 46:35What is Magic? What is Going on in the universe
- 46:39and how do I engage with that, you know, in my own way and
- 46:45there's few, you know, there's been very few people that have
- 46:48quested like that. Although there's a movement now,
- 46:51where, you know, the old ways are coming back.
- 46:53You know, a lot of, you know, from North from Nordic, you
- 46:56know, ancient Nordic north of Northern Traditions to all over
- 46:59the world. It's like, you know, we're not
- 47:01getting burnt at the stake anymore and were able to
- 47:03question and be curious. And, you know, I mean could have
- 47:07a whole Other podcast about how our culture is going in that,
- 47:11you know, in that way are in a larger to the northern Heaton
- 47:15culture, you know, and I see, you know, I see a lot of
- 47:18challenge in that, I see a lot of baggage being brought from
- 47:22the broken default culture into our, you know, Northern heating
- 47:26culture. And I saw a lot of fighting in a
- 47:29lot of, you know, a lot of those divisionary tactics, you know,
- 47:33when there's so much we could come together with You know, and
- 47:37there's so, you know, there's so much to learn and it's a having
- 47:40that having the All fathers curiosity, having the All
- 47:43fathers, you know, ability to break rules, you know, it's
- 47:47like, you know, a see so many people gatekeeping and so many
- 47:50people, you know, aiming other people, and putting other people
- 47:53down there, just coming to the path.
- 47:54And I and, you know, I've been on this path for almost 30 years
- 47:57now, you know, and it's like what would the all-father?
- 48:00Do you know if Blake are you you know, are you walking the steps
- 48:04of Odin or you? The people that would oppose
- 48:06him? You know, because it wasn't cool
- 48:09and it wasn't, you know, it wasn't cool and it wasn't you
- 48:12know the way to learn say there. But both ensure learn say there.
- 48:17They did, you know? Yeah.
- 48:19Do you know if the all-father hung from the tree and brought
- 48:22his, I don't remember the word, the term they use for the UPG or
- 48:25whatever when you have a personal spiritual experience
- 48:28and people talk about it, like it's inauthentic or less
- 48:31authentic than like old texts transcribed by Christians, you
- 48:35know, and it's will, where do you think those?
- 48:37Bold text came from. They came from ancient people,
- 48:40ancient shamanic people having personal experience.
- 48:43You know and so are you the person that went othon came back
- 48:47from hanging from the tree you know and brought the runes, be
- 48:50the person that would shame him and laugh and say that's that's
- 48:54your, you know, that's not authentic.
- 48:56You just made that up, you know, or would you be like oh my God
- 48:59like oh my God. You know, just found this person
- 49:03just brought back keys in the building blocks of reality and
- 49:06how to tap in. You know, to energy Magic and
- 49:09perception and a language like wow I want to learn from this
- 49:13being, you know, and learn how he did it.
- 49:15Not just learn what he brought back but learn how he didn't do
- 49:18more of it and that's going to that kind of perspective.
- 49:21We'll move our culture and Community forward as opposed to
- 49:24the shame blame. I know better than you like, oh,
- 49:27well, you can't know if you say that you're wrong, this dada
- 49:30dada. Dada.
- 49:30It's like, well then Odin would have been wrong and who are you
- 49:33to shame the all-father you know, kind of?
- 49:36Yeah. Yeah, I mean.
- 49:37I mean I've always walked this really weird line where I've
- 49:41said before like I'm not what you would call a freaking
- 49:43hardcore Reconstructionist type of pagan I do favor a lot of
- 49:49what has been documented and I Look to some of the sources as
- 49:53bass lines or SSDI. Well how did they do it?
- 49:56And where can I? But I also, you know, don't I
- 50:00don't discredit and I don't shame anything that happens now
- 50:03in today in modern times because kind of like what you were
- 50:06saying earlier about how You, we are making the myths, you are
- 50:09making the Miss. Now, whether they be are based
- 50:12on Ancient myths, but you're you're creating new stories,
- 50:15right? We live in Saga times, it's been
- 50:19mentioned by a number of people who I admire in this community
- 50:23in different ways but we do, we live in Saga time.
- 50:25So we are writing stories that get that will get told in the
- 50:29days and years to come. And the things that maybe what
- 50:35Someone today would look at you and go.
- 50:37Oh, well, that's just Malarkey that's bullshit.
- 50:39It's, you know, that's your UPG that's that's not traditional
- 50:42well, who's to say in the next 100, 200, 500 years, whatever
- 50:46that thing that was crack, you know, Shrugged off as being
- 50:50bologna is is the basis for someone's ritual practices at
- 50:56that time. Right?
- 50:57Who's to say that and as we just said like the rooms were Odin's
- 51:01UPG or whatever. Right.
- 51:03Well you know like so. You take that and learn from it
- 51:07and is it tools that work? Or do you shame it before you've
- 51:09even given it a chance? You know, and I think that's
- 51:12something that, you know, that I thought I think it's a lot of
- 51:14the baggage, that that are heat and communities bringing from
- 51:18the broken disjointed culture and from more of a Christian
- 51:22Outlook and you know Christian dogmatic and yeah, dogmatic and
- 51:27judgmental and, you know, and things like that, you know?
- 51:29And I mean, one of the interesting arguments that I see
- 51:32going on now that I roll my eyes at is the whole, you know,
- 51:35People shaming other people in the cosplay term or whatever,
- 51:40when there's people, you know, dressing up or wearing makeup,
- 51:42you know, or like putting, you know, doing the face paint and
- 51:44doing nothing. And then other like,
- 51:46holier-than-thou, you know, I call them hipster heathens and
- 51:50that, you know, come in or like well you can't that it and it's
- 51:52like, okay, maybe there's not complete archaeological
- 51:56evidence. Like there is some references of
- 51:59eye makeup or whatever that whether it was glare, whether it
- 52:01was, you know, as it as it as in-depth as people go with it.
- 52:05They're dramatic aspects. Now the fact that wearing a
- 52:10ritual Garb putting on face paint, doing things like that,
- 52:14they're ancient animistic practices that have happened all
- 52:17over the world to shift, Consciousness and ship
- 52:20perception perception, you know, where we're going to be super
- 52:24dogmatically by the book of whether our specific ancestors
- 52:26in. You know, the northern European
- 52:29countries, did it or not. That's a whole other argument.
- 52:32But the fact is, is it works. It's like, All over the world
- 52:36people do? I've seen it.
- 52:37I've seen it in my theater crew, you know?
- 52:39It's like when we, you know, we do the Dramatic Makeup, we do
- 52:42the things like that, and I've done it in ritual, I've done it
- 52:45in music and I've done it in theater and the thing is, you
- 52:48see, people change? You see people embody and go
- 52:51deeper into the you know they're tapping into these ancient
- 52:56primordial Powers you know through this when they paint the
- 52:59rooms on their face, you know. And they do the face with the
- 53:02different, you know. It's like I've seen I saw it a
- 53:04couple weeks ago when we Practicing for our show, for
- 53:06Bernie men, were doing a whole retelling of the Ragnarok myth
- 53:11for printing minute. We've got Loki and Thor and, you
- 53:14know, and I am body Odin. We got Freya and Ingrid.
- 53:17Boda and hella and like, you know.
- 53:19And I see these gals that, you know, when they cook the cloaks
- 53:23on, when they put clothes on and when they put the makeup on they
- 53:28transform, you know, and they're all like, and they feel it and
- 53:31then afterwards, they're remembering that are going like,
- 53:34wow, that Was profound, right? You know and who is anyone to
- 53:39shame that you know, it was anyway.
- 53:42Well, that's not powerful, that's not real, that's not what
- 53:45ever, you know, when I'm witnessing right here, you know,
- 53:4950 on your part of it. Yeah, yeah.
- 53:51We got 50 people, in a giant Pagan Heathen ceremony in were,
- 53:54you know, we are wearing outfits and cause of we are lighting up
- 53:57swords on fire where a were building, giant metal dragons,
- 54:00and lighting them on fire for, let you know, like that, you
- 54:03know, for the midgard serpent and like all These different
- 54:06things, you know, and it's like, it's there, you know, and it's
- 54:08like, when my buddy is like all beard braided and got the, you
- 54:12know, Foodies as written on his face and he's built like a
- 54:15flaming mjolnir and like, you lights it up and, you know, it's
- 54:19like, dude, that guy's something.
- 54:22He wasn't an hour ago. I'll tell you, right, you know.
- 54:26Yeah, yeah. No.
- 54:29I mean, it's phenomenal. I'm just, I'm really glad to see
- 54:32the there that there's actually there's some press.
- 54:35For stuff like this. You know that there's platforms
- 54:37that there's opportunity for this type of passion, this type
- 54:41of genuine practice of things to get shared with the world.
- 54:45Because again they're there's people like us that have been in
- 54:48it for any length of time that that know, the sincerity, that
- 54:51know, the heart behind it and that see the value and want to
- 54:54share that. And then there's people that are
- 54:55just clueless that may be new to this.
- 54:59And they're seeing this undergoing.
- 55:00What is that? What is that about?
- 55:03You know, and they want to know more in it.
- 55:05It you know, II think it's great.
- 55:07I really do well in the aspect of like, how much are we opening
- 55:11the door? How much are we putting out of
- 55:12the hand? And it's like we've all been
- 55:15raised in this broken Western culture and it's Generations
- 55:18deep and so, you know, Who are you to shame somebody else when
- 55:23like, you know, 35 15 20 years ago.
- 55:27You were that same person making the same mistakes.
- 55:30Mmm, no. And so, it's like, it's like,
- 55:32the whole like skull argument or whatever.
- 55:35Like everyone's like, oh, skulls, not a greeting.
- 55:37And it's like, well, shit. I know skulls, you know, who
- 55:41I've known, you know, I don't know where it came from.
- 55:43Everyone's doing this all of a sudden, it's like course, it's
- 55:46not, but like these new people that have watched the Vikings TV
- 55:51show. Inner like feeling their
- 55:53Heritage and feeling some sort of trickle of magic and
- 55:56ancestral power in that, you know.
- 55:58Yes, maybe they're being cheesy about it or maybe they're, you
- 56:01know, just starting on a shallow level of it.
- 56:03But are you gonna, you know, are you going to smother that shame
- 56:06that and Bully that, or you gonna reach out a hand and help
- 56:10these people, you know, learn how to engage with the
- 56:14ancestors, engage with the gods, engage with their roots, and
- 56:17then there's more of us then, you know, He that we're
- 56:21building. It's like, you know, I grew up
- 56:23on the reservation otice like I grew up on the res with like
- 56:26First Nations and stuff like that.
- 56:27And I've seen the desecration of the First Nations community and
- 56:31culture, you know, and I sat with First Nations elders and
- 56:34I've been, you know, that they just see Christianity and, you
- 56:37know, and what's happened and I'm like, you know, my people
- 56:39were really similar only happened a long time ago and
- 56:43they were the same skin color. You know, like you've got
- 56:47shamanic Elders, we've got animistic practices, we got, you
- 56:49know, and like a lot of First Nations people, like, oh wow,
- 56:52that me like I want to hear about that.
- 56:54And a lot of that culture had to rebuild itself and come back
- 56:59together and it was only, you know, wiped out for a couple
- 57:02Generations or not, even a generation, depending how far
- 57:04west you get. Whereas our people, it's been
- 57:06hundreds of years and that's where I'm like, we need to come
- 57:10together. We need to help each other.
- 57:12We need not be like battling each other and shaming.
- 57:14Each, Other, we need to reach and and having some compassion
- 57:18for the new folks that are like skull brother and it's like, hi.
- 57:23It's like, yeah, it's like, let me get a horn for some meat in
- 57:26there and we'll cheers it and like, you know, a tough
- 57:29conversation, you know, talk about it.
- 57:31She felt like, I know you're really excited about what you're
- 57:34doing but like, that's not actually how it works.
- 57:36Let me like you're new here, and it's not like you're wrong.
- 57:39Get the fuck out. It's like, hey, you're new here.
- 57:42That's, you know, that's not actually how it works.
- 57:45Come on over, let's have it. That's for, you know, poor horn
- 57:47and meet, and I'll, you know, I'll tell you how, you know,
- 57:50I'll show you how to Cheers. I'll show you how to do with a
- 57:51blue 20 blow it. So, you know, like what's going
- 57:53on here, you know. And like, if you put that dumb
- 57:56horned helmet away, or like, you know, we're like this, what the
- 57:59hell, like the thing, you know, the weird Halloween costume.
- 58:01You just put off Amazon, like, you know, I know you're excited
- 58:05and you're feeling it, but, like, you know, Let's touch on
- 58:10the things. Yeah, like each, you know, you
- 58:11see that that enthusiasm and I used to call it, you know, this,
- 58:16this honeymoon phase, you know, the yeah, the this
- 58:19over-romanticized feeling of that, that lady, say that that
- 58:23Touch of Magic of connecting with your answer.
- 58:26Something about what you see or something about what you heard
- 58:28something about, what you experienced touched, you deeper
- 58:31than you have ever been touched before?
- 58:34Not trying to get freaky with it but I'm just saying like it
- 58:37affects you in a way that's more profound than it has ever been
- 58:40before, right? And I love seeing that with
- 58:43people and I want to be the one that can help be a part of that
- 58:46but and cultivated in a way that they build from, you know, not
- 58:50feel ashamed about you know and that's what we need.
- 58:52More of a powerful thing. It's our ancestry.
- 58:55It's alright. You know it's our lineage it's
- 58:56our gift of power from our ancestors that we were never
- 58:59given so no surprise it people are kind of excited and and
- 59:04Interpreting in a certain way, you know, it's like some kids
- 59:06easy riding a bicycle and they're like, oh my God, I want
- 59:09to ride a bike and I get on the bike and I like dragging it down
- 59:11the street and falling off of it four times, but only after the
- 59:14kid showing how to ride a bike, you know, it's like, hey yeah,
- 59:17it's cool to ride a bike. You want to go like, that's not
- 59:20how you do it. This is how you do it.
- 59:22Let me show you as opposed to like haha, you fucking suck.
- 59:24Looks like well, you know, that's right.
- 59:30You know, we get a little bit more of that in our community,
- 59:33you know. It's something that we You know,
- 59:34we can build together, you know, and I've been to powwows, I've
- 59:38been to sundance's. I've been to, you know, these
- 59:40First Nations ceremonies and communities that they've rebuilt
- 59:43their Traditions, you know, they've re-engaged together and
- 59:47they're not, shaming blaming each other, they're not like,
- 59:49you know, then they're doing like, you know, fancy dances
- 59:52with all these feathers and all this stuff and like, maybe
- 59:54they're not traditionally, the are, you know, maybe some of
- 59:56those dances are 10 years old and some of those costumes are
- 59:59like new designs. 10 years ago, they're not ripping each other
- 1:00:02apart and dividing over it. They're like hey, A cool new
- 1:00:05idea celebrating it. Encouraging it.
- 1:00:08Yeah. Actually getting it wrong.
- 1:00:09Then the elders are coming in or the experienced ones are coming
- 1:00:12in and going. Hey, that's not how you do it.
- 1:00:14And you can make mistake there, but if it's a no idea.
- 1:00:18Yeah, you know, it's you know, it's like, hey how'd you do
- 1:00:22that? You know, as opposed to this
- 1:00:25consistent in fighting that it's like wow, there's so many of us
- 1:00:29reclaiming, you know, this Northern Heritage in the ancient
- 1:00:32and Peg like he did. Always like we should be coming
- 1:00:35together and having big, we haven't big, you know, festivals
- 1:00:39and concerts and you know and whatever.
- 1:00:41And you know there's a there's a lot of things in the world to
- 1:00:43fight each other is. And what isn't one of them?
- 1:00:46Yeah. Yeah, 100% agreed.
- 1:00:50Well I'm definitely glad to get the chance to first of all, talk
- 1:00:53about what you think contributing to the community,
- 1:00:57to this, to this country, to the world.
- 1:00:59Even you're just being a part of Burning Man.
- 1:01:00And having, you know, an international audience and And
- 1:01:04having, you know, a group of no community of people that are
- 1:01:08like minded to the point of, you know, doing it that way and
- 1:01:13being welcoming in that way, that's really great to hear and
- 1:01:15I'm excited to see all the progress, right?
- 1:01:19So there's there's this, there's mythmaker Productions, there's
- 1:01:22the weirding way. There's the Warrior's path,
- 1:01:23YouTube channel. Anything else that people
- 1:01:26online, if they want to kind of follow your journey and follow
- 1:01:29your story and keep up with you? Is there anything else that the
- 1:01:32listeners and viewers can Can check out on the social medias
- 1:01:36are on the internet. That tells me more about what
- 1:01:39you're up to. Those are the three main ones.
- 1:01:41Like, I've got my Heron, you know, Facebook stuff.
- 1:01:44I'm always organizing on Facebook and doing stuff on
- 1:01:46there. It's got me.
- 1:01:47I wish it was a better platform but there's not right now and
- 1:01:50I'm organizing tons of people. But yeah, mythmakers the main,
- 1:01:55the main thing I'm known for the weirding way is my superb and
- 1:01:59ritual passion right now. And then Warrior's path is
- 1:02:02where, you know, I share my teaching My, you know, in my
- 1:02:05engagement and what I've learned along the path and yeah, study
- 1:02:09with a lot of different people and I've got the spiritual shit
- 1:02:12kicked out of me enough times. I've been humbled many many
- 1:02:16times to you know, rebuild my worldview and rebuild my
- 1:02:20perception and I'm here to help you know.
- 1:02:22Like that's the thing is like I'm really here to see this
- 1:02:24community shine. See individual shine, and to
- 1:02:27really see us like regain that ancient ancestral power.
- 1:02:31And that's really the purpose of myth maker and Weirding way and
- 1:02:34Warrior's path is for, you know, our Heathen Pagan Community to
- 1:02:38come together and for us to, you know, to be a people again.
- 1:02:42And, you know, I'm very into that, you know, and different
- 1:02:45people have their different things and that's that's all
- 1:02:47fine and dandy. And, you know, us reclaiming,
- 1:02:50our traditions and integrating them in them, in a modern way,
- 1:02:54where, you know, the Practical and they're really helping, you
- 1:02:56know, individuals and communities.
- 1:02:59So, yeah, and that's what mythmaker is were making that
- 1:03:02new myth creating a new narrative.
- 1:03:04The moment my kids is a counselor and, you know, she's
- 1:03:08been on the Pagan path for a long time too.
- 1:03:10And so she's doing a lot of work.
- 1:03:12She talking about doing a podcast series about heathen
- 1:03:17integration. Like how I'm seeing spot in the
- 1:03:20community of people coming from a Christian background and she
- 1:03:23comes from a Christian background.
- 1:03:24I thankfully don't, I was never really told anyone I'm thankful
- 1:03:29for my neutral background that I got to explore, I didn't have to
- 1:03:33deprogram I'm a lot of stuff. I mean, they're the ambient
- 1:03:36stuff in culture that I've had to deprogram, but I wasn't super
- 1:03:39indoctrinated into one of these, you know, abrahamic religions
- 1:03:43that I feel pretty away from the end of Mystic route.
- 1:03:46And you know, she and her partner both have in two very
- 1:03:50different scenarios and they're both, you know, integrated
- 1:03:53transpersonal psychologist counselors at the were talking
- 1:03:56about putting a program together for, you know, people coming
- 1:04:00back to Hedonism people coming back to paganism because there's
- 1:04:03a lot of Christian baggage baggage.
- 1:04:06Oh yeah, maggots as a lot of, you know, people that are taken,
- 1:04:10you know, Jesus and God and then just like slapping Thor and Odin
- 1:04:14over top and then they're still kind of like, they'll your
- 1:04:17operating system is still really abrahamic.
- 1:04:20And it's like, yeah, you know, if you tap into some deep,
- 1:04:23Primal animalistic stuff, like that's not how we do, you know,
- 1:04:28that's not how it's been done, you know, and even in, you know,
- 1:04:31the Christian interpretations of some of the old writings and
- 1:04:34Stuff like that. It's like I come from a real
- 1:04:36animistic background. You know where you can smell the
- 1:04:41Christianity, you can smell the air.
- 1:04:43Oh, wait a minute. That's that's not how Earth
- 1:04:47people did things. That's not how animistic people
- 1:04:49did things. That's someone's lens, affecting
- 1:04:53their interpretation of what our people did and you can taste it.
- 1:04:56You can smell it when you, you know, when you've spent enough
- 1:04:59time in the Woods, by yourself with other cultures that are
- 1:05:02animistic, you know, you can go. Oh actually, when you're in tune
- 1:05:06with nature, that's not how you perceive things.
- 1:05:09When you separate from nature then you put those paintings on
- 1:05:12top. So yeah.
- 1:05:13So we're working. She's her.
- 1:05:14And her partner working a lot on their counseling business with
- 1:05:17that. And we're working on putting a
- 1:05:18series together and doing some writings on how to transition
- 1:05:22from, you know, Christianity to Hedonism to paganism to, you
- 1:05:27know, to get back into the deeper aspects of what the
- 1:05:31ancient Traditions are and what the the way.
- 1:05:34Our ancestors would be because you're not just about like who I
- 1:05:38watch the Vikings and I read the whole them all and now you know,
- 1:05:42I got a hammer, you know, and I got a drinking horn and you know
- 1:05:46whatever but then I'm still like you know, judgmental and guilt
- 1:05:50shame ridden and like you know and you know, and all these
- 1:05:53things like, well you got to dig a little, there's a whole, yeah,
- 1:05:57there's a whole worldview shift that you have to embrace and,
- 1:06:00and it doesn't happen overnight and I'm that's interesting.
- 1:06:03You know, if If you're a part of that project and you ever are
- 1:06:07looking for a guest, I would volunteer as tribute just put
- 1:06:10that bug out there in the universe.
- 1:06:12So if you're ever looking to get a guest on a podcast or talk
- 1:06:15about stuff like that, I'd be really down to rap about it for
- 1:06:19a bit and this has been great. I think we've covered a lot and
- 1:06:22we could we could probably I have a feeling that you're the
- 1:06:25type of person here. And that, you know, if given the
- 1:06:27time and Limitless resources, we could sit here and probably lose
- 1:06:31hours and not even realize it, you know?
- 1:06:33Oh yeah. We could do a series and we
- 1:06:37might do that. I mean we might have you back.
- 1:06:39I mean, I would love to say that I would love to have you back
- 1:06:42when it has our schedules permit to talk about some other things.
- 1:06:45Maybe together we can come up with Justin topics and and
- 1:06:48stuff. Because I feel I enjoy this.
- 1:06:50I think the people listening and subscribing and watching this,
- 1:06:54this podcast are all about it, too.
- 1:06:56I really feel like this is going to touch on a lot of people's
- 1:07:01hearts and and stuff. So you know thank you from
- 1:07:04Myself and thank you on behalf of everybody.
- 1:07:06That's that's being able to absorb this.
- 1:07:08It's been it's been a lot of fun.
- 1:07:10Yeah, you're welcome. You're welcome.
- 1:07:12And yeah, just tell people, you know, live your Legend, make
- 1:07:15your myth, you know you got here.
- 1:07:17We are in this weird world at this Cutting Edge of culture and
- 1:07:20everything else. It's like you know, build giant
- 1:07:23flaming dragons light up, your sword on fire, you know, keep
- 1:07:26your thing, make your myth be who you want to be.
- 1:07:29It's like you know, shed the shackles of, you know, all this
- 1:07:33like Everybody pick on each other but whatever.
- 1:07:35It's like, do fun shit. Put on like, man where the where
- 1:07:40the mask put on the robes, do it?
- 1:07:42Yeah, dude--. Yeah.
- 1:07:45Dude-- do what works for you do? What gives you power and you
- 1:07:49know, dig deeper study of more. So yeah, I'm here to help.
- 1:07:53That's that's my journey. I'm just here to see people
