Intro: aliens aliens yes but maybe no.
0:20
Travis: Uh, welcome to the show.
0:21
Travis: Aliens, yes, but maybe no.
0:24
Travis: I'm Travis, I'm Josh.
0:26
Travis: This is an otherworldly podcast, as ambiguous as our title.
0:29
Travis: We're a bunch of dummies.
0:31
Travis: Yeah, my relationship to aliens is one of fear and terror.
0:35
Travis: I am scared of aliens.
0:37
Travis: It scares me more than anything.
0:38
Josh: I think that's half the people in the world, yeah, and the other half are excited and eager, or they don't believe that aliens exist, and those people believe in ghosts and they're dumb, are excited and eager, or they don't believe that aliens exist, and those people believe in ghosts and they're dumb.
0:47
Travis: Yes, I agree, I don't know.
0:49
Travis: That's that's been.
0:50
Travis: My relationship is like you believe in aliens or you believe in ghosts.
0:53
Travis: There's not very many people that believe in both my wife passionately believes in both, but there's not.
1:00
Travis: That's not a huge group like that crossover.
1:02
Travis: If there was a venn diagram of aliens and ghosts, those wouldn't.
1:06
Travis: There would be like a small group.
1:08
Travis: I don't know what that looked like.
1:10
Josh: It's possible they're the same thing.
1:12
Travis: Yeah, but you get people that believe in ghosts, come at it from like a religious perspective and they don't think there's anything out there other than humans, because God didn't create anything other than humans.
1:25
Travis: And so why would there be aliens?
1:26
Travis: Ghosts are just like trapped beings here that didn't finish their tasks.
1:32
Travis: They didn't finish their their earth chores, and so now they're stuck here until their chores are done, which is kind of like what I do for my kids.
1:39
Travis: Yeah, you know, if they want to go to their friend's house or they want to leave the house, I'm like, well, not until your chores are done, and they're like, ooh, dad, I'll be here forever yeah.
1:49
Josh: I haven't gotten in arguments with my wife about it, but I don't believe in ghosts.
1:53
Josh: I don't either, and she completely does.
1:57
Josh: And my daughter believes in ghosts and has many encounters.
2:02
Josh: Yes, I wouldn't say.
2:06
Josh: There are arguments that we got in, but they were, uh, healthy disputes.
2:09
Travis: It just doesn't make sense to me do you want to do some role playing, like, if I am, I'll play jordan.
2:14
Travis: Okay, that's my wife, that's your wife yeah, so you'll be jordan.
2:19
Josh: Okay, I'll be me.
2:21
Josh: Yeah, okay, cool, I can do.
2:23
Josh: I can do that.
2:24
Josh: I can do that.
2:25
Travis: Do you want to do a role?
2:26
Josh: reversal.
2:27
Travis: I'll be I feel like I know you well enough.
2:28
Travis: I could pull you off.
2:29
Travis: You know Jordan well enough.
2:31
Travis: You could pull Jordan off, but maybe, for the sake of this, you be you and.
2:35
Travis: I'll be Jordan.
2:37
Josh: Yeah, josh, yes, dear.
2:41
Travis: I saw something crazy.
2:48
Josh: The door closed on its own in our house.
2:53
Travis: Okay, I think it was a ghost oh, um, are you sure this is going really well no, I mean, that's how that would be my reaction.
3:01
Josh: Just sure, yeah, I'm sure, the door closed.
3:04
Travis: Josh, what are you accusing?
3:05
Josh: me of.
3:05
Josh: I mean, are you sure it was a ghost?
3:07
Travis: Well, were you upstairs?
3:08
Travis: No, I can see both of our kids down there.
3:12
Josh: I mean it could have been anything.
3:15
Josh: I just don't you think a draft.
3:17
Josh: It could have been a draft, Our house could have shifted.
3:21
Travis: Okay, I agree it was a draft case.
3:22
Travis: Close End of argument.
3:23
Travis: No, that's not how it goes.
3:32
Josh: Oh, that's how it should go.
3:33
Josh: So I don't think the God of a lot of these religions would give up and or give power to someone who's no longer living, cause.
3:38
Josh: I mean, it seems as though we give these ghosts, or we we think these ghosts have a lot of authority and power to be able to do all these things.
3:45
Josh: What did they do to deserve that and it it's also not a deserving?
3:49
Josh: Maybe it depends punishment.
3:51
Travis: If you were to watch like uh, amityville murder.
3:55
Travis: Murder happened or suicide is usually what it's centered around.
3:58
Travis: Yeah, right, or a child that was killed and now that child becomes vengeful because you know it's a child and it was its life was taken away from it.
4:09
Josh: And they were given powers beyond what humans have.
4:13
Travis: Yeah, telekinesis yeah.
4:15
Josh: But why?
4:16
Josh: Hey, I don't know, I don't, that's what I'm saying.
4:18
Josh: I don't know.
4:19
Josh: It doesn't make sense.
4:19
Josh: Why can they go through walls?
4:21
Travis: Yeah, why can they go through walls?
4:22
Travis: Yeah, why can they go through walls?
4:23
Josh: Yeah, exactly, and that goes into like maybe it is aliens.
4:25
Josh: If we talk about aliens on a multidimensional plane, maybe we're just folding into space and maybe it's not ghosts, maybe it's an alternate dimension weaving into itself.
4:38
Travis: Well then, maybe that's not aliens, maybe that's just an alternate.
4:40
Travis: Yeah, maybe it's like quantum mechanics, is what we're getting into.
4:45
Josh: It could be that it's very possible.
4:46
Josh: So maybe it isn't spiritual which would still make them wrong.
4:50
Travis: No, it would still make them wrong.
4:51
Travis: You're right.
4:51
Travis: But when you don't have an explanation for something, what do you do?
4:55
Josh: you rely on something that's very comfortable and then it's usually angry and I take it out on everyone around me the same.
5:03
Travis: I think that's a very human response.
5:05
Travis: Yeah, but also consider, like, what people are comfortable with, and that is religion.
5:11
Travis: That's like the basis of a lot of communities, and when you don't understand something, you're going to attribute it to supernatural.
5:19
Travis: Supernatural, like all things come from god, or or whatever.
5:22
Travis: With god, all things are possible or impossible, or whatever it is you know, that's what gives answer to a lot of the unanswerable for people.
5:30
Josh: Yeah, I agree.
5:31
Josh: It's the faith that you can put your trust in.
5:35
Josh: Sure, you know so you.
5:36
Josh: You don't have to fear.
5:38
Travis: It's easy and it's comfortable to just say that it's yeah that it's religious, that say that it's yeah, that it's religious, that that was my grandpa who came here and made me feel warm when I was sad.
5:48
Travis: Yeah, I mean, that would be the whole reason that could have just been.
5:49
Travis: You pee your pants.
5:51
Josh: What I don't know that could be the whole reason, or I think that is the whole reason of psychics.
5:58
Josh: You know, they take advantage of people and make them feel good.
6:04
Josh: We are going to be talking about ghosts at some point.
6:07
Josh: I would imagine it'll come in and out Anything supernatural at some point.
6:11
Travis: I agree.
6:11
Travis: So this is the first podcast.
6:13
Travis: If you are listening to this, it is by choice.
6:16
Travis: I assume you just plugged into your little search bar aliens and then this came up because it has aliens in the title.
6:22
Travis: So we are still trying to figure out what exactly our show is about, to give you guys a little bit of a background.
6:28
Travis: I know almost nothing about aliens other than like how they're portrayed in movies and TV.
6:34
Travis: They're very interesting to me as an idea, but I haven't got caught up in a lot of the conspiracies and the lore of aliens, aliens just yet.
6:45
Travis: I am kind of navigating my way through this with Josh as my guide, his lovely partner Jordan, who is kind of helping direct me through the landscape of alien lore and, I guess, a lore too many times.
7:00
Travis: It's okay, you take this out in post yeah, or double it, double yeah.
7:05
Josh: I could just add more more lords, thank you for saying I'm your guide, uh, on this this establishes some clear guidelines and a path for me.
7:15
Travis: I can be as lazy about this as possible and now all the work is yeah I.
7:20
Josh: The funny thing is is I don't know much, but I have a lot of curiosity and excitement about the ideas and I don't necessarily believe everything I hear, but I don't discount it.
7:34
Josh: I.
7:35
Josh: I just get excited or wonder what if?
7:38
Josh: Or if this is true, then what about this?
7:41
Josh: And especially with a lot of the the news as of late, with some of these whistleblowers coming out and finding out about a lot of crazy things, it's uh, it is exciting.
7:52
Travis: Just hopefully they don't kill us hopefully yes, hopefully they don't kill so.
7:56
Travis: So what news are you talking about?
7:57
Josh: you're talking about, like, the acknowledgement that aliens, or at least I think the main thing is is uh, I'm not a good guide, I don't know.
8:06
Josh: Okay, I I think it's about alien technologies, uh, being reverse engineered by some scientists, and these whistleblowers are coming forward.
8:15
Travis: There's been a ton of podcasts, not a lot of news about it yeah, so hopefully with this podcast then we will have like sources and names and so we're not going to be saying like there's a ton of news out there.
8:26
Travis: We'll say we'll cite specific things.
8:28
Josh: Yes, absolutely.
8:29
Josh: We're not going to misinform.
8:31
Josh: As best as we can, we're going to try to get facts, but we're also going to give our opinions, which, if you, take it you could be misinformed, which I hope my opinions on some of these things change.
8:41
Travis: I hope that my my mind is broadened and is opened up?
8:45
Josh: Yeah, that'd be phenomenal.
8:46
Josh: I mean, people have been documenting aliens and cryptids and government conspiracies for decades and I recently heard one guy who came out in like the 80s or 90s, who worked at the Pentagon.
8:59
Josh: I don't even remember his name.
9:01
Josh: Everything that he has said has been true so far.
9:04
Travis: We're going to need some documentation on that.
9:05
Travis: You're going to need to cite your.
9:06
Josh: Oh, we're going to do a whole episode on him.
9:08
Travis: Okay.
9:09
Josh: But this is just just an exciting things that I'm just like the curiosity and dipping into it.
9:13
Josh: I don't know a lot.
9:14
Josh: You know nothing other than what Hollywood has shown you, which I believe.
9:19
Travis: Hollywood is showing us, showing us, here we go.
9:21
Travis: No, this is.
9:22
Travis: This is where Josh says the crazy thing.
9:25
Josh: I think Hollywood is preparing us, so you may actually know more than you think.
9:29
Josh: Okay, I think the higher ups in government are working with Hollywood to prepare us so that when something big does happen, we are not shocked or desensitized somewhat.
9:42
Travis: Which we saw.
9:43
Travis: What last year year, two years ago, when tom the long said that aliens are real and the government was like, yeah, they're real, but there was so much going on, we were like in the middle of a lockdown and that was the least surprising thing that happened that year I think most people were like either yeah, we know or no, it's not, that's just the government lying.
10:01
Josh: Yeah, because I mean they didn't any proof, but that's the thing is the government's wanting the information.
10:07
Josh: It's the military that's holding this information from everyone, including the government, which is strange.
10:13
Josh: It is strange so, you not having any knowledge about aliens, have you ever experienced anything?
10:21
Josh: I don't think so.
10:22
Josh: Anything supernatural, anything.
10:26
Travis: No, nothing, nothing that I can, nothing that I can recall.
10:28
Travis: Okay.
10:29
Josh: Which I think is fairly normal.
10:31
Josh: Yeah, I've only had one strange encounter.
10:34
Josh: I was driving and we were in Washington state and me and another person looked up and we saw a shooting star and then it kind of dinged off of.
10:44
Josh: It looked like a pinball thing, like it just went crazy, the shooting star, which is not what shooting stars do they don't zigzag and do all this stuff and then it just went away.
10:52
Josh: It was a five second thing and we didn't think of anything of it until I started watching some shows and learning some stuff and I was like, oh, that was probably a UAP or a UFO.
11:03
Josh: What is a UAP?
11:05
Josh: It is a unidentified aerial phenomenon, got it?
11:09
Josh: People started using that term instead of UFO because of the negative stigma around UFO.
11:17
Josh: And so, yeah, uaps are in the sky.
11:19
Josh: There's the SAPs, maybe submerged, I don't know, because there's the underwater.
11:26
Josh: I'd have to learn that too.
11:27
Josh: We could do a whole episode on that.
11:29
Travis: That is more scary to me than space.
11:31
Josh: Yeah, I mean we have documentation and video footage of ships underwater Like unidentified submerged phenomenon.
11:39
Josh: Yeah, I don't like that at all, and both they have some that are underwater and then come out of the water.
11:46
Travis: Yeah Well, how do you get under the water, if not in the air, into the water?
11:50
Travis: I don't know.
11:53
Travis: I don't know either.
11:54
Travis: So the way I'm approaching this is like from a philosophical standpoint Okay, the universe is ever expanding, and has been since the Big Bang.
12:05
Travis: It is getting bigger and bigger and bigger.
12:07
Travis: I think that it is naive to assume that we are the only organisms in our universe, in our galaxy, within the cosmos, to exist.
12:15
Travis: I think that's pretty naive and I also think it's very vain.
12:18
Travis: Yes, absolutely.
12:19
Travis: To live in a world.
12:21
Travis: It's terrifying more terrifying to me to think that we are alone in this than it is to think that it would be very sad but also very scary, like knowing what's going on on planet earth and like the wars and stuff that we're having here.
12:35
Travis: Uh, I can't remember what comic said this.
12:38
Travis: He does like college humor.
12:40
Travis: He did batman pete, uh holmes, I think.
12:42
Travis: He says you think that it's bad?
12:44
Travis: Here we'll zoom out and you're just, you're flying on a piece of dirt in the middle of space.
12:50
Travis: Yeah, so if people could have that kind of perspective.
12:53
Travis: You know that we're all here on this planet, we're a human population.
12:57
Travis: We need to learn how to get along, because we are either alone or because we are very specific to this rock like this environment.
13:06
Travis: We should learn how to get along, but all we need is perspective.
13:10
Travis: That's where I'm coming at from this.
13:12
Josh: I agree with everything you said.
13:12
Josh: I'm not coming at it in that way.
13:15
Travis: I just haven't seen anything to prove or disprove it, I'm just thinking.
13:19
Josh: Like it just makes sense.
13:21
Travis: Like you said, how sad would it be if we were the only living things within the vastness of space and time.
13:28
Josh: Well and then?
13:28
Josh: But also how scary it is.
13:30
Josh: Yeah, your fear comes from only knowing one kind of life form.
13:34
Josh: Sure, and they're violent.
13:36
Josh: Yeah, you know like.
13:38
Josh: So if there's other life forms, they're probably going to kick my ass just like humans, yeah, just like a human would.
13:44
Travis: And so that's the perspective I have here as a human is like well, these aliens, of course they have to be violent in nature and they're here to take over.
13:52
Josh: But that could be the whole reason.
13:53
Josh: We haven't been introduced yet, right, because we are violent.
13:57
Josh: Yeah, that's a possibility.
13:59
Travis: Sure, or they're just benevolent observers and they're just looking at you know, this civilization here and wondering how it's going to play out and when is the best time to step in.
14:08
Travis: It's like if you watch a street fight and you want to break it up, but you also don't want to get hurt too bad, so you're waiting for that break when they're tired, and then you're like, okay, now break it up.
14:18
Travis: Maybe that's what extraterrestrials are like.
14:20
Josh: They're like we're gonna wait until it's like kind of calm and everybody's catching their breath, and that's when we're gonna come down and present ourselves and we're gonna introduce humankind to something else, something completely different new technology, a new way of thinking or whatever since you don't't know much and, like I said, I don't know a lot either I just hear about this from shows or conversations with people it sounds like there's a lot of different kinds of aliens, and there might be a benevolent one that is watching us.
14:47
Josh: There's also another one that is in contact with us, that is helping us.
14:51
Josh: There's one that uses Earth as a vacation spot.
14:55
Josh: There are ones that are abducting people and doing experiments.
14:59
Travis: Some that are maybe trying to blow up Earth to make way for an intergalactic highway.
15:03
Travis: Yes, bring your towel.
15:06
Josh: It's a good movie yeah, it's good.
15:08
Josh: It's a good book too.
15:08
Josh: Yeah, I never read the book, but that's the thing is like it could be all of them.
15:11
Josh: Aliens yes, maybe.
15:14
Josh: Yeah them aliens?
15:20
Travis: yes, maybe maybe no or no, I don't know.
15:21
Travis: Maybe we have one or two of them right and the other ones we've just made up.
15:23
Travis: Sure, I mean, humans are humans are weird.
15:24
Travis: They are weird.
15:24
Travis: This is going to be an interesting journey just to try to figure out where my beliefs fall, and I'm looking forward to trying uh my idea of what, what, uh, an extraterrestrial is.
15:36
Travis: Is that even the right terminology?
15:37
Travis: Am I even saying things right?
15:39
Travis: I don't know.
15:39
Travis: I'm uh, I'm excited about it, excited about where this is gonna go, and we're gonna have a lot of opinions yes, and I I don't know.
15:47
Josh: I don't remember if I talked about where I'm coming in from.
15:50
Josh: I'm coming in, not like you, where you're sad and afraid.
15:55
Josh: That's fair, yeah.
15:59
Travis: That does totally describe them A very sad and afraid man.
16:02
Josh: Yeah, I'm going to be coming in completely believing, open-minded to the things that I may find skeptical, but eager to just get the big picture of everything, cause there's a lot of information, a lot of categories and maybe through, just like you said, maybe through all of this we can get excited and get a big picture and maybe put together some things that make sense for us that maybe people haven't thought of yet Because we're different minds coming in on this.
16:33
Josh: We're not experts.
16:35
Travis: To be clear, I am coming in this as a little baby, a dumb little baby, and I'm a toddler, and Josh is just barely ahead of me, I guess, developmentally In some areas.
16:46
Josh: Yeah, I just want everyone to know.
16:48
Josh: We have no expertise, none.
16:50
Travis: So if you're listening to this and wanting to, If you're looking to get something out of this, stay tuned, because we're gonna.
16:58
Travis: We're figuring this out on our own.
16:59
Travis: Yeah, um, because this is so early in our recording process, we, uh, we don't have any way to contact us for you to give us notes on the show, but that will be coming probably with our second episode, I'm sure, or we might not even air this one, and we might air it, yeah, in future as a bonus episode Go fuck yourselves, you guys, or it'll be in the documentary when we get abducted or taken out by the men in black, kind of like Grizzly man, where you just hear the audio file of somebody getting attacked by a bear.
17:29
Josh: Yeah, this is it, this is our legacy.
17:32
Travis: Oh boy.
17:32
Travis: Yeah, this is what we remember, kind of like if you're hearing this podcast, then that means I'm dead it's the last will and testament, oh man uh, sarah, uh, of course, everything I leave to you.
17:45
Travis: Uh, you were too good for me yeah, jordan, what he said, take care.
17:50
Josh: I know you'll take care of the dogs.
17:51
Travis: You're gonna do great on your own even.
17:54
Josh: Yeah, I'm on the same page as you.
17:57
Travis: My wife will thrive once I'm gone, afraid to say that my own vanities keep me from saying just that.
18:06
Travis: But it's, it's implied, yeah.
18:08
Josh: I'm holding her back, All right Well thank you for listening.
18:13
Travis: If this sounds like it sucks, don't worry, it's going to rule.
18:15
Josh: Yeah.
18:15
Travis: This podcast is going to be a lot better as we go forward.
18:18
Josh: We'll get a little more organized.
18:19
Josh: We'll have stories.
18:20
Josh: This was just kind of an introduction, but we'll have topics and stories and theories, and I'm excited to travel the cosmos with you.
18:30
Travis: Oh boy.
18:30
Josh: Yeah, I've been holding on to that.
18:32
Travis: That's good, thank, that's good, thank you.
18:36
Travis: So, josh, to establish a baseline of where we are with aliens, like how much we know, like how much we know, just so people can kind of get an idea of where we're at with aliens.
18:48
Travis: I looked up this quiz online.
18:50
Travis: I haven't looked at any of the answers.
18:52
Travis: Okay, so we're going to take this quiz.
18:54
Travis: We're going to see how it plays, hopefully.
18:56
Travis: Well, is it a real quiz?
19:02
Travis: Like it's legitimate questions?
19:03
Travis: Yeah, there's tests and if you, if we fail this quiz, then we also fail out of podcasting and we have to give it up okay, so the stakes are pretty high.
19:07
Josh: Yeah, no, I'm I'm not confident, but so what we're gonna do is is it like movies, I don't know.
19:14
Travis: So the quiz is.
19:14
Travis: It's titled take this quiz about aliens and entertainment and show us what you know about UFOs.
19:19
Josh: Oh, in entertainment.
19:20
Travis: So it could be about who knows who knows.
19:22
Travis: I mean, entertainment is broad, right, yeah, so I'm going to hit this button that says start the quiz.
19:27
Travis: Let's do it, okay, and then what we're going to do is we're just going to hand my ready.
19:39
Travis: Yeah, okay, this is gonna be fun, I hope, or, or it's gonna blow up in our faces.
19:40
Travis: Yeah, we may lose our confidence.
19:41
Travis: Uh, don't open anything in incognito mode, please.
19:42
Travis: What?
19:42
Travis: Uh, it'll be, uh, very telling what is that wait?
19:46
Josh: what are you talking about, uh?
19:48
Travis: uh, uh, it's too late.
19:49
Travis: I I hit start this quiz.
19:50
Travis: Okay, question one let's go for josh blank.
19:54
Travis: The martian first appeared in the 1948 bugs bunny cartoon hair, devil hair, oh, marvin, oh, if I scroll down, I'm gonna, you're gonna, get options, marvin.
20:04
Travis: Okay, so the options are a marvin yeah I felt like you're leaning pretty heavy on that.
20:10
Travis: Yeah, no, I know marvin the martian, or is it b michael the martian?
20:13
Travis: I saw space jam.
20:15
Travis: Is it malcolm c the Martian?
20:15
Josh: I saw Space.
20:16
Travis: Jam.
20:16
Travis: Is it Malcolm C the Martian or D Maverick the Martian?
20:20
Travis: Maverick sounds cool.
20:22
Travis: Maverick sounds cool.
20:23
Josh: But it is.
20:24
Travis: Marvin Marvin, okay, okay, you got it correct, good job, thank you.
20:29
Josh: Next question Directed by sci-fi master Tim Burton.
20:33
Josh: What 1996 comedy features the aliens in this photo?
20:37
Josh: You don't even need to see the photo, do you?
20:39
Travis: mars attacks yeah but uh, for the audience, why don't you describe what's happening in the photo?
20:45
Travis: Because this is an audio form.
20:47
Travis: This, let's see if I can okay so let's take away let's take away everything that I know about mars attacks, and you're going to describe this and I'm going to see if I can come up with Mars attacks based on your description.
20:59
Travis: So what are you looking at?
21:00
Josh: Three aliens in shiny spandex, green spandex.
21:05
Josh: Their heads are very large and you can see their brain, and they have laser guns.
21:13
Josh: That's I mean what else?
21:15
Travis: What color is color?
21:15
Travis: Is their brain green?
21:16
Travis: And what does their face look like?
21:18
Travis: Do they look happy or their face?
21:19
Josh: their faces, they look maniacal maniacal huge eyes like they think it's a joke and they're just having fun no, uh like they just took a lot of cocaine and they're mad about it.
21:33
Josh: Because their eyes are huge, they're mad about taking and they have very skull-like faces, okay, but with a huge brain, yeah.
21:45
Josh: So what do you think that is?
21:46
Josh: Let me give you some options.
21:48
Josh: Okay?
21:48
Josh: Mars attacks, planet of the apes, frankenweenie.
21:53
Travis: Beetlejuice, that would be good.
21:54
Travis: It's Mars Attacks, obviously.
21:59
Josh: Yes.
22:00
Travis: Josh, this is question three on the questionnaire, but this is your second question.
22:03
Travis: Okay, what Steven Spielberg film includes a man named Roy Neary from Indiana and UFOs that make distinctive sounds?
22:12
Travis: Do you want to hear some options?
22:15
Josh: Yeah, my first thought was contact, but I don't let me hear options okay, uh well, contact is robert zemeckis okay is it a?
22:24
Josh: Et the extraterrestrial bters of the Third Kind yeah it's Close Encounters.
22:39
Travis: Okay, let's click on that.
22:40
Travis: Oh, you got it right Yay.
22:43
Josh: Correct.
22:43
Josh: This is the last one, what?
22:47
Josh: And then we're going to find some actual alien ones, and I'm sure they're there.
22:52
Josh: Go, I'm sure they're there, go.
22:55
Josh: These peaceful green extraterrestrials are from the 2009 computer animated sci-fi comedy film Planet Blank, and I'll show you the picture.
23:07
Josh: Okay, a 51.
23:09
Josh: , b 22.
23:11
Josh: C 21.
23:13
Josh: Or D 87.
23:26
Travis: c21 or d87.
23:29
Travis: Um, I'm gonna have to say 51, because that number has significance as meanings in alien communities, all right, yeah, because of area 51, yeah, area which we'll probably do an episode on.
23:36
Travis: Nice segue.
23:37
Josh: Thank you, yep, that's correct.
23:40
Travis: Good job, so this is fun.
23:41
Travis: Is this a fun segment?
23:43
Josh: It is fun.
23:43
Josh: I want real alien quiz though.
23:47
Travis: Oh, you want something like this, that's fun.
23:48
Travis: You want a real one, that's boring.
23:50
Josh: No, I just want to know how dumb we are on a podcast about what we're taking tests on.
23:57
Travis: Okay.
23:57
Travis: So I found another website.
23:58
Travis: This gives us a list of categories.
24:03
Travis: I'm going to read these categories off and you're going to tell me if it's a category that you're interested in, and then there will be a round of questions relating to that category.
24:13
Travis: Okay, makes sense.
24:15
Josh: Yeah, I was looking while you were looking and there's a bunch of quizzes about the movie aliens.
24:22
Josh: No like, am I an alien quiz?
24:25
Josh: Oh, shit.
24:26
Travis: Yeah, do you want to do that one instead?
24:28
Travis: Am I an alien?
24:29
Travis: I think I'm not.
24:31
Josh: So I think I'll take that in private because, if I am, I feel like this could expose me and I don't want any backlash.
24:39
Travis: Just like all those am I gay questionnaires that you take?
24:42
Travis: Yeah, those are.
24:44
Travis: You find a lot out about yourself.
24:45
Travis: Those are just for fun.
24:46
Travis: Okay, so these are the categories.
24:48
Travis: Close encounters with another kind.
24:51
Travis: Is it a bird, is it a plane?
24:55
Travis: So those are two categories there.
24:57
Travis: Third one the legendary Roswell incident, explaining the unexplained UFOs, which we've already established is archaic terminology.
25:08
Josh: Yeah, you can still use it, but UAPs is more modern and precise.
25:13
Travis: Okay, roswell UFO crash, seti, the search for extraterrestrial intelligence.
25:18
Travis: So which category will I be picking from?
25:21
Travis: Oh, oh, wait, there's more.
25:23
Travis: Oh, aliens and UFOs.
25:26
Josh: That would be a good one.
25:27
Travis: Wins from other worlds.
25:29
Travis: They're here.
25:30
Travis: So those three.
25:32
Travis: Let's do aliens?
25:33
Travis: Aliens and UFOs?
25:35
Travis: Yeah, great, let's establish a baseline.
25:41
Travis: Yeah, okay, at 14 10, which I only I can assume is going to be 2 10 pm.
25:44
Travis: Yeah, 14 10.
25:45
Travis: On the 5th of december 1945, five tbm avengers comprising flight 19 left fort lauderdale, florida, and disappeared in this area.
25:56
Josh: The Bermuda Triangle.
25:58
Travis: I assume you're right.
26:00
Travis: It is not giving me an answer.
26:02
Travis: So, maybe there's an answer at the end.
26:05
Travis: That's the thing with these online questionnaires.
26:08
Travis: Am I right?
26:08
Travis: Okay, All right.
26:11
Josh: This is the name commonly given to the small aliens with large heads, large dark eyes and little or no hair.
26:18
Josh: Is it greys, non-earth-born humans, martians or Syrians?
26:25
Josh: Syrians.
26:27
Travis: Like from Syria.
26:28
Travis: Greys, is it a greys?
26:32
Josh: I'll push it, it's not giving the answer, but you are correct.
26:37
Travis: Well, I mean you're the expert.
26:37
Travis: I mean you're the toddler, I'm the baby.
26:38
Travis: It's not giving the answer, but you are correct.
26:39
Travis: Well, I mean you're the expert.
26:40
Travis: I mean you're the toddler, I'm the baby.
26:41
Josh: All right, we'll hand off the device, okay.
26:45
Travis: Begun on December 30th 1947 and lasting only 15 months, this project, later to become Project Grudge, was the first official attempt by the military to investigate the UFO phenomena.
27:00
Travis: Hmm, is it Blue Book?
27:03
Travis: Is it Saucer Rapture or Sign S-I-G-N?
27:11
Josh: It is Project Blue Book.
27:14
Travis: Um no, it crossed off Project Blue Book and Um no, it crossed off Project Blue Book and Saucer.
27:19
Travis: So your two options left are Rapture and Sign.
27:23
Travis: I'm going to say Rapture, this kind of sucks.
27:27
Travis: It doesn't give you an answer.
27:29
Travis: This is so frustrating.
27:30
Josh: So I think if you get it correct, there we go, rapture.
27:32
Josh: Then it highlights it in orange.
27:33
Travis: Yeah, okay, well, rapture.
27:34
Travis: Then it highlights it in orange.
27:37
Josh: Yeah.
27:37
Travis: Okay, well, rapture is correct, then Hopefully.
27:40
Josh: Hopefully All right.
27:41
Josh: Next question Don't forget, you asked for this.
27:44
Josh: No, this is great.
27:45
Josh: So, travis, on September 19th 1961.
27:49
Travis: Okay, this couple it was a good year, good vintage.
27:57
Josh: This couple from Portsmouth, new Hampshire, claimed to be abducted by aliens while traveling home from vacation in Canada on US Route 3 near the village of Lancaster.
28:02
Josh: They claimed an object hovered over their car and then they heard a sound like a tuning fork which caused them to fall asleep.
28:09
Josh: When they awoke, they were in Ashland, nearly two hours away.
28:13
Josh: Is there a question?
28:14
Josh: It's this couple.
28:15
Josh: Okay, so is the couple's name Bob and Doris Smith, betty and Barney Hill.
28:23
Josh: God damn it.
28:24
Josh: Susan and Henry Fletcher.
28:26
Josh: This is awful.
28:27
Josh: Nancy and Max Popovich.
28:32
Travis: What was it, bob and Nancy Hill?
28:34
Travis: Was that two?
28:36
Josh: Bob and Doris Smith and Betty and Barney Hill.
28:40
Travis: That seems good to me, I like that.
28:42
Travis: Yeah, Betty and Barney.
28:44
Travis: I like the alliteration of that.
28:46
Travis: I do too.
28:47
Josh: I clicked it and nothing happened.
28:49
Josh: Click on the hints.
28:50
Travis: This is engaging podcasting, by the way.
28:53
Josh: It says you get three hints per quiz.
28:54
Josh: You're all out of hints.
28:55
Josh: What Didn't podcasting, by the way?
28:56
Josh: It says you get three hints per quiz.
28:56
Josh: You're all out of hints.
28:56
Josh: What didn't you only use one hint, I used two.
28:59
Travis: I just kept clicking hints weird on yours and it crossed out two of them.
29:03
Josh: Maybe at the end there's a summary oh, there's all the answers down on the bottom.
29:07
Travis: There's 10 questions perfect we're at four right, we're on five, so you're gonna read five to me as you scrolled through all the questions and, uh, got an idea of what's coming.
29:17
Travis: I didn't.
29:17
Travis: Congratulations, you are a pod cheater.
29:20
Travis: On June 30th Josh of 1908, something exploded here, eight kilometers above the ground and destroying nearly everything for about 2,150 square kilometers.
29:33
Travis: It is still unknown what that something was.
29:36
Travis: Jeez, okay, so these are just geographical places.
29:40
Travis: Okay, so I'm going to list these off.
29:42
Travis: Okay, tunguska, to list these off.
29:43
Travis: Okay, tunguska, or Tunguska, tunguska, I have no idea.
29:47
Travis: Excuse me for the pronunciation of that.
29:50
Travis: I am really sorry.
29:50
Travis: I am reading that for the first time.
29:52
Travis: Crater Lake.
29:55
Travis: Maybe, Arizona, the state, blue Mountains, the geographical region.
30:03
Josh: Oh man, well, Crater Lake lake.
30:05
Josh: I feel like I haven't been there, but I feel like they know what happened.
30:10
Josh: I think it was a crater, okay, or a volcano.
30:14
Josh: I think it's a volcano, sure?
30:17
Josh: Um, I can't be the entire state of Arizona.
30:22
Josh: Blue Mountain.
30:23
Josh: I think that's still there.
30:25
Josh: So I'm going to say the first one.
30:29
Travis: The unpronounceable Tunguska, tunguska.
30:32
Travis: Yeah man, I feel bad even trying to pronounce that.
30:36
Josh: Yeah.
30:36
Josh: Okay so the next question.
30:38
Josh: I didn't read it by the way, the name given to the objects cited by military pilots during the second world war is these bogeys, rods, foo fighters unknowns.
30:53
Josh: I believe it's foo fighters is that your final answer?
30:57
Travis: I don't know.
30:58
Travis: I'm gonna say foo fighters.
30:59
Travis: I don't know if that's right, but I feel like dave grohl kind of based.
31:02
Travis: I'd like I don't know if that's right, but I feel like Dave Grohl kind of based his band off of that.
31:06
Travis: That sounds right.
31:07
Travis: Foo Fighters.
31:08
Josh: All right, I put Foo Fighters Final answer.
31:10
Travis: Final answer.
31:11
Josh: Josh.
31:11
Travis: On June 24th 1947, this Idaho businessman observed nine shiny objects weaving in and out of the Cascade Mountain Range near Mount Rainier in the state of Washington.
31:25
Josh: Okay.
31:26
Travis: Is this person?
31:27
Travis: Kenneth Arnold, Charles Carroll, George F Shulgin, Bob Lazor Lazor Hmm, I hope it's Lazor L-A-Z-O-R.
31:39
Travis: I feel like that's a name that we should know.
31:41
Travis: I don't know, but I like it.
31:42
Travis: Is that an a name that we should know?
31:42
Josh: I don't know, but I like it.
31:43
Travis: What's the ancient alien guy's name?
31:44
Travis: Is that what you want, bob Lazor?
31:49
Travis: Okay, locked in Alright.
31:55
Josh: Next question Located near Groom Lake, Nevada, this secret military installation Is believed to be home to an actual alien aircraft.
32:04
Josh: Is it NORAD Nellis AFB, Area 51, or Tonopah Research Lab?
32:13
Travis: Okay, so I believe it's Area 51, but because NORAD's not a region, what was B Nellis AFB Air Force Base and what is it?
32:23
Travis: We're looking for A spacecraft.
32:26
Josh: The home of an actual alien aircraft.
32:29
Travis: I'm going to say B or C, so it's either the Air Force Base or Area 51.
32:34
Travis: And I'm going to say Area 51 because I'm a new dumb baby and that is the region that pops up right into my brain.
32:43
Josh: Let's find out okay wow, edger seat trivia.
32:47
Travis: November 5th 1975, this logger was supposedly abducted by a ufo while his friends watched what the?
32:57
Travis: Fuck.
32:58
Travis: His story is the basis for the movie Fire in the Sky.
33:01
Travis: Oh, personal connection here.
33:03
Travis: Travis Walton, ooh, same initials as me, yeah, dwayne Smith, mike Rogers, alan Dallas I think it's the first one oh, tw.
33:15
Josh: Yeah, Travis Walton, that just sounds right.
33:17
Josh: It does sound right.
33:18
Josh: So last question In July of 1947, a UFO crashed near this town in New Mexico.
33:24
Josh: According to reports, the bodies of several aliens were found near the ship.
33:28
Josh: The army reported to have a flying disc in its possession and later changed its story, claiming it was just a weather balloon.
33:34
Josh: The town we're looking for the name of the town.
33:36
Josh: Is it Snowflake, Alamogordo, Roswell or Santa Fe?
33:43
Travis: I'm going to say Roswell, because you kind of leaned on it Then you gave me a winky face, Then you pointed at the phone and said this is the one.
33:50
Travis: But you mouthed yeah, I'm going to go with Roswell.
33:52
Travis: I didn't do any of that.
33:54
Josh: Well, prove me wrong, I can't.
33:56
Josh: We're not famous enough to have a film crew, so I clicked Roswell.
34:00
Josh: I've never even heard of that.
34:01
Josh: No, I'm kidding, I'm going to hand this back to you and you can look.
34:06
Travis: It looks like we've got a score of five out of 10.
34:09
Travis: Okay, we're guessed 185.
34:12
Travis: I don't know what that means.
34:13
Travis: So the first one.
34:14
Travis: This was to Josh.
34:16
Travis: At 1410 on December 5th 1945, five TBM Avengers compr Flight 19, left Fort Lauderdale and disappeared in this area.
34:24
Travis: Josh correctly said the Bermuda Triangle.
34:28
Travis: Yeah, my question.
34:30
Travis: This is a name commonly given to the small aliens with large heads, large dark eyes and little or no hair.
34:34
Travis: The answer to that is, of course, grey's Blah, blah, blah, I got that one right.
34:39
Travis: Begun on December 30th.
34:42
Travis: This is question three to Josh.
34:44
Travis: 1947 and lasting only 15 months, this project, later to become Project Grudge, was the first official attempt by the military to investigate the UFO phenomena.
34:51
Travis: This was Project Sign S-I-G-N.
34:55
Travis: Oh man, september 19th 1961, this couple from Portsmouth, new Hampshire we all know and love them.
35:02
Travis: They are, of course, betty and Barney Hill.
35:04
Travis: You got it right, I got it right.
35:06
Travis: Wow, just based on the sound of their name.
35:09
Travis: Love it, I do too.
35:11
Travis: June 30th 1908.
35:12
Travis: Something exploded here, eight kilometers above the ground and destroying nearly.
35:16
Travis: It seems like we're doing pretty good Because you had guessed the geographical area of Tunguska.
35:21
Travis: Yeah, because you had guessed the geographical area of Tunguska.
35:23
Travis: Yeah, that is correct what I deduced.
35:25
Travis: Yeah, this is in Russia.
35:27
Travis: Oh wow, russian fur traders happened to glance into the southeastern Siberian sky.
35:34
Travis: That fateful morning must have been startled to see a fireball streaking through the atmosphere toward their trading post of Vanavara and leaving a trail of light some 800 kilometers long.
35:39
Travis: Wow, right Name given to the object sighted by military pilots and leaving a trail of light some 800 kilometers long.
35:43
Travis: Wow, all right Name given to the object sighted by military pilots during the Second World War.
35:47
Travis: You said Foo.
35:48
Josh: Fighters, foo Fighters is correct, jeez.
35:51
Travis: So did we get the rest wrong?
35:52
Travis: I mean okay, so here's a wrong one.
35:54
Travis: I believe On June 24th 1947, this Idaho businessman observed nine shiny objects weaving in and out of the cascade.
36:00
Josh: You said, Travis Walton, yeah, shiny objects weaving in and out of the cascade.
36:04
Josh: You said travis walton.
36:05
Josh: Yeah, kenneth arnold.
36:05
Josh: You know we might eventually know all these answers if we keep this up located near groom lake nevada.
36:11
Travis: The secret area military installation is believed to be home to actual alien aircraft.
36:16
Travis: Area 51 did I say that or did?
36:19
Josh: I you said, area 51 feels like we got more than five, right?
36:22
Travis: oh no, travis walton, you did get that one right, because, travis walton, his story is based on fire in the sky.
36:27
Travis: So you got that.
36:28
Travis: Seems like we got a hundred percent.
36:30
Travis: I don't know why I said and roswell, uh, for 10 july of 1947, ufo crashed near this town in new mexico.
36:37
Travis: According to reports of bodies, of several aliens found near the ship uh roswell.
36:40
Travis: Of course roswell okay, well we didn't.
36:43
Travis: Do you feel good like?
36:44
Josh: I mean, yeah, I feel like we didn't actually know the answers.
36:49
Travis: We just I feel like we paid the door fee to get into this party.
36:52
Travis: Like yeah what's it called when you go into a club cover charge?
36:56
Travis: That's it.
36:56
Travis: Yeah, we.
36:57
Josh: We just paid the cover charge to get in yeah, I'm actually now more excited to do the show because I know, as we go through the topics and the news and all this stuff, we will know and hear and learn about all this and we will be writing these quizzes.
37:14
Travis: That would be great.
37:15
Travis: Yeah, Well, maybe more trivia to come.
37:18
Travis: As you know, episodes go along.
37:19
Travis: We'll see.
37:19
Travis: Like I said, we're still establishing what this podcast is going to be about.
37:24
Josh: Yeah, and we'll do it better next time.
37:25
Josh: We'll do it better, we'll have the answers right away.
37:28
Travis: We won't be second-guessing a website.
37:30
Travis: I mean, that's part of the fun of this is not knowing anything about it and just randomly finding a website and then going through the questions.
37:37
Travis: I think that was kind of fun, alright, all right.
