- 0:00Speaker 1: Entertaining game today. But defense, though, let's start, Their defense
- 0:03Speaker 1: was spectacular day.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I thought, you know, I thought we did a
- 0:07Speaker 2: good job understanding who we needed to really defend and
- 0:10Speaker 2: how we wanted to defend them. Kept you know, we
- 0:13Speaker 2: needed to try to keep their big eyes off the backboard.
- 0:16Speaker 2: They're down. I mean, they've got a bunch of kids
- 0:18Speaker 2: that are injured. Their leading scorer just hurt her knee,
- 0:21Speaker 2: I guess the other day. So going to the book
- 0:24Speaker 2: and crossing out people, I felt like it was us
- 0:27Speaker 2: two or three years ago when I would just cross
- 0:28Speaker 2: out all the ones that weren't going to play that day.
- 0:31Speaker 2: But you know, they play hard and they have a
- 0:33Speaker 2: style that's their own, and I thought we handled all
- 0:36Speaker 2: that really well.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Multiple sets too. Boy, Blankie gave you a really good
- 0:40Speaker 1: minutes off the bench today in the first half.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Shed She is, you know, in many microwave at times,
- 0:46Speaker 2: you know, and she actually has no unlike maybe some
- 0:51Speaker 2: of our American players, she has no conscience when it
- 0:54Speaker 2: comes to if she misses, it doesn't matter. It doesn't
- 0:56Speaker 2: FaZe her in a bad way, Like she is a
- 0:58Speaker 2: conscious to chuck up everything, but it doesn't impact whether
- 1:02Speaker 2: she takes the next one or whether she thinks she's
- 1:05Speaker 2: going to make the next one. So her first shot
- 1:07Speaker 2: was an airball, and then she goes on that role.
- 1:09Speaker 2: So just very aggressive on the offensive end, and she's
- 1:12Speaker 2: we challenged her to be a better offensive rebounder and
- 1:15Speaker 2: I think she's trying to do that, trying to hit
- 1:16Speaker 2: the glass and give us more multiple opportunities.
- 1:19Speaker 1: How big of a concern was that today rebounding It
- 1:22Speaker 1: turned out to be even both overall in offensive boards
- 1:25Speaker 1: do well.
- 1:26Speaker 2: I think for me personally, I think rebounding overall is
- 1:30Speaker 2: a concern just because I think we need to do
- 1:34Speaker 2: a better job on the back where we don't box
- 1:36Speaker 2: out enough and we have not played teams with the
- 1:41Speaker 2: same size that we have, and when that happens, it's
- 1:43Speaker 2: going to be an issue. And you can't turn that
- 1:45Speaker 2: on and turn that off, so you have to really
- 1:46Speaker 2: concentrate on that. So it's something we've been focusing on,
- 1:50Speaker 2: just the you know, the basics, boxing out and go
- 1:52Speaker 2: get the ball.
- 1:53Speaker 1: You know what's been good offensive rebounding from a guard
- 1:55Speaker 1: spot Ashland, She's had at least one offensive rebound in
- 1:59Speaker 1: every game as well.
- 1:59Speaker 2: Well. I will say the challenge went up to the
- 2:01Speaker 2: guards as well to hit the offensive boards, and Ash
- 2:05Speaker 2: and Blanca both have taken that to heart and have
- 2:07Speaker 2: both given us more opportunities. It's kind of like a
- 2:09Speaker 2: double edged sword. So we've gotten into this. You know,
- 2:12Speaker 2: we shoot fifty percent, so everyone thinks every shots going in,
- 2:16Speaker 2: so they tend not to go into rebound. And I
- 2:19Speaker 2: think that's a good you know process, you know, good thinking.
- 2:22Speaker 2: But we miss opportunities. So that's where the challenge was put,
- 2:25Speaker 2: you know, put out to them that, hey, we have
- 2:27Speaker 2: to get more opportunities.
- 2:28Speaker 1: When your best player, Sarah Strong is diving for loose balls,
- 2:32Speaker 1: doesn't matter what the score is, that's a good sign.
- 2:35Speaker 1: She is relentless. And we've talked about this. How active
- 2:38Speaker 1: her hands are.
- 2:39Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, she just you know, and I say it,
- 2:41Speaker 2: you know, she's got great hands and great feet. I
- 2:44Speaker 2: think it's from the soccer early on. But she's got
- 2:47Speaker 2: a quickness about her that you don't look at her
- 2:49Speaker 2: and think wow, that she's quick just by when she's
- 2:52Speaker 2: standing still. But when you watch her play, she just
- 2:55Speaker 2: and she doesn't foul and she doesn't make a lot
- 2:57Speaker 2: of mistakes in that way. And then the must part.
- 3:00Speaker 2: You know. I think that she saves balls and just really,
- 3:05Speaker 2: you know, again, helps us create more opportunities because you figure,
- 3:09Speaker 2: if we shoot fifty percent and we get more, we
- 3:11Speaker 2: create more opportunities and obviously we're gonna score more points
- 3:14Speaker 2: than the other team. So just the more, you know,
- 3:17Speaker 2: the more we can do that. I think that we
- 3:19Speaker 2: want that to be part of our our identity.
- 3:21Speaker 1: All right. Finally, did you get to Jersey for Thanksgiving?
- 3:24Speaker 2: Or no? We only we had we had Thursday off,
- 3:27Speaker 2: but it would have been hard to drive down and okay,
- 3:30Speaker 2: drive back. I've done it where I've driven down one
- 3:32Speaker 2: day back, but I did not do it this year.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Okay, but it was a good Thanksgiving.
- 3:35Speaker 2: It was very thankful, very good.
- 3:37Speaker 1: All Right, thank you for a few minutes of your time.
- 3:39Speaker 1: We'll see on the plane.
- 3:40Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Thanks Chris,
