- 0:15heads, emerging artists, and curious listeners come together to discover what's next.
- 0:32I've stood at the edge,
- 0:36hands shaking hard loud, letting fear whisper often keeping me in the crowd.
- 0:46All the chances I had,
- 0:49I let slip away.
- 0:53Thought I wasn't ready, but I was just afraid.
- 1:00When successes came knocking, I said it was a flu, doubted the proof of all the things I
- 1:05could do.
- 1:06I've had my wins on stage, but jealous words would bite, made me second guess, kept me from
- 1:13holding my life.
- 1:36Now I'm ready to climb.
- 1:38Feel the thrill.
- 1:42No more fear.
- 1:43It won't define me this time.
- 2:04All those moments I ignored, thinking they were fake, were pieces of power I'm now ready to
- 2:13take.
- 2:16The risk is real, real, so is my fire.
- 2:20I've let fear blame me, but now I'm higher.
- 2:23No more holding back.
- 2:25I'm breaking free.
- 2:26The world won't wait.
- 2:52I'm ready to climb to feel the thrill.
- 2:58No more fear.
- 3:00It won't define me this time.
- 3:04I've counted every what if in my head, letting tiny voices keep me from what's ahead.
- 3:11But all those fears are just shadows on the wall.
- 3:14I'm breaking through.
- 3:16I'm ready to risk it
- 3:23Never
- 3:23maybe is a chance I take every heartbeat.
- 3:27It's a choice I make.
- 3:29I failed by hiding, but now I see the only real loss is not trying it all.
- 3:36And that's not me.
- 3:43No more
- 5:13Hello.
- 5:15Hello, and welcome to a very special edition of the unsigned spotlight because we are here
- 5:23today for a very big party for the one, the only, mister Michael Cagels.
- 5:29Hello, Muppets.
- 5:32Muppets.
- 5:33Look at the Muppets.
- 5:35Look at this.
- 5:35Hey.
- 5:35Look at look at this.
- 5:36Look at this, Michael.
- 5:37Michael.
- 5:37Michael.
- 5:38It's out.
- 5:38It's out.
- 5:39Confessions of a broken child.
- 5:41Hey.
- 5:42Yes.
- 5:44And it's so freaking that song the last song we heard is actually the first song on the I guess
- 5:51we're go we're gonna go in order, and that's totally fitting because that's, yeah, that that
- 5:57was a really fun song to do because it's really filled with a lot of the songs are very
- 6:05autobiographical.
- 6:07Like, I wrote from a place of where I've been or where I wanna be or things that I've gone
- 6:13through.
- 6:13So if you listen to the lyrics, it's it's very, very true.
- 6:18You know?
- 6:19I tried to write as honestly as I could, which means there's not a lot of stories in the in
- 6:26the in the album.
- 6:28It my husband's more of a storyteller than I am when it comes to songwriting.
- 6:33I would disagree with that.
- 6:35Well, that's fine.
- 6:38Because I I think my story but my I guess I do write stories.
- 6:44Hey, Willie.
- 6:46I do write stories, but there this album, everything pretty much came from what I have
- 6:54gone through.
- 6:55Like, if you listen to some of the lyrics, like, I had winds on stage, but jealous words
- 7:00would bite.
- 7:01You know, I I dealt with other entertainers that wouldn't wanna work with me because they
- 7:06felt intimidated, And they literally said that.
- 7:10Like, I don't wanna get on stage with you because when you're on stage, I don't exist
- 7:15anymore.
- 7:15And I'm like, I don't know how to control that.
- 7:18I I there's nothing I can do.
- 7:20So the song is fun, but it's full of lyrics that are really authentic.
- 7:27And I have always had an issue with a fear of failure and which has stopped me from going as
- 7:36fast or as far as I've wanted to.
- 7:38And this song was like, no.
- 7:40I'm not gonna do that anymore.
- 7:42I'm not gonna be bound by that.
- 7:43So that's where that song came from.
- 7:46Can I be honest?
- 7:49Go on.
- 7:49Ready, Michael?
- 7:53Dude, that song is straight out of a pop Broadway musical.
- 7:57I swear.
- 8:00It's it's like the opening song of a musical on Broadway.
- 8:03I would pay money to see that.
- 8:06I really appreciate it.
- 8:07I
- 8:08You've fallen the beat, the energy, everything that really is all about you is there.
- 8:19That's what that's what I hear.
- 8:22I and I really do.
- 8:24That that means a lot.
- 8:26I I tend to write theatrical anyway just because of my background.
- 8:33My husband literally said, everybody says you're a ballad belter.
- 8:38Everybody says that, but the bottom line is you are an anthem writer.
- 8:44Like, you write from a perspective of moving something forward or inspiring people.
- 8:50And so the Broadway thing yeah.
- 8:52I've I've you're you're about the fifth person that's heard some of these songs and said, this
- 8:57is sounds like the start you ever
- 8:59We're gonna you and I are gonna have a sit down.
- 9:01I because I've already got a script, so we're we're already halfway there.
- 9:06Yeah.
- 9:06Hi, Brandy.
- 9:07Just
- 9:08introduce you to Brandy because Brandy joined the show.
- 9:11Hi, Brandy.
- 9:13Hi, guys.
- 9:14Sorry.
- 9:14I'm driving.
- 9:15So I I wanted to be a part of this, but I'm I'm listening in.
- 9:19I'm paying attention.
- 9:20Well, now I'm saying, yourself in and say hi.
- 9:26It makes me so I know that you are in the midst of rehearsals, and you got a gigantic show that
- 9:31you're actually headlining, you know, next month.
- 9:34So I know you're putting a lot of stuff and time and energy into that.
- 9:38But the fact that you're here really means a lot to me.
- 9:41Thank you.
- 9:43Of course.
- 9:44I wanna be here for you.
- 9:45You're like family, and I wanna support you, like, any way I can.
- 9:49Unfortunately, if I camera on and pay attention to my phone, I'm probably gonna get pulled
- 9:54over.
- 9:54So this is the best I can do.
- 9:55Sorry.
- 9:56Well, I'll tell
- 9:57you what.
- 9:58Brandy, thank you so much for joining us.
- 10:00Let's give Brandy a song, shall we?
- 10:02Let's get on to the next song on the album, which is a singer's anthem.
- 10:07Michael, while I am sorting this out, tell everybody about this song.
- 10:11Well, the singer's anthem, basically was inspired by, a friend of mine in Las Vegas that
- 10:21is he's a toe Tony nominated singer and entertainer, and we have had long talks about
- 10:34what it means to be a singer, and he wrote a song about him being a the song.
- 10:40And I thought, I really love that message, but I really wanted to dig into why I sing, what
- 10:50what it's about.
- 10:51And a lot of people think, know, well, you just like to be flashy or you just like to show off.
- 10:58And those are, I guess, just little act, little accessories that come with the way that I sing.
- 11:05But my real my real heart in singing is to really move people, is to touch people, and to
- 11:12use I'm never gonna be a rocket scientist.
- 11:15I'm never gonna cure cancer.
- 11:17You know?
- 11:17I am a singer.
- 11:19I'm a songwriter.
- 11:20And so the best thing that I can do with my gifts is try to inspire people, and that's
- 11:26kinda where the song came from.
- 11:27So this is kind
- 11:28of Interesting.
- 11:29Why I sing.
- 11:30Okay.
- 11:31Sing a song.
- 11:32Here we go.
- 11:58I don't need fame.
- 12:01I don't need praise.
- 12:05I just need a voice and a song to raise.
- 12:13With every lyric, I reclaim the light and give a silence back its fight.
- 12:19I turn the noise into something true.
- 12:23A melody that carries you.
- 13:01To turn the pain to power in our eyes to corrupt the stories, hearts, happiness.
- 13:12In every song, the truth beaches.
- 13:16I sing to breathe.
- 13:18I sing to bear, to be alive, to dream for fear.
- 13:49I write the words they cannot say.
- 13:52I shave the notes that guide their way.
- 13:57Little little
- 14:02to bit than I'm
- 14:25It's more than sound.
- 14:28It's how I cope.
- 14:31It's to change with thread of hope.
- 15:39I'd sing a chorus from the eighth or verse from every past mistake singing my melodies, my
- 15:48lyrics, my arrangements.
- 15:52Self welcomed, self uncomfortable in their placement.
- 15:58But truth was never meant to please.
- 16:02It starts, it stretches, it sets us free.
- 16:05A song can shake the hardest stone.
- 16:09No one has to stand alone to unite the broken, young and old, This is why I and this is why we
- 17:39sing.
- 17:50This is why I sing.
- 17:56This is why I sing.
- 18:03This is why I sing.
- 18:10Is why I
- 18:14sing. This
- 18:14This
- 18:49I was just about to say, wow.
- 18:51Wow.
- 18:51Wow.
- 18:52Wow.
- 18:52What a voice.
- 18:53Amazing.
- 18:57Jeez.
- 18:58I know what Ryan's gonna say.
- 19:00Oh my god.
- 19:02That was
- 19:02a lot
- 19:02of that was a lot of runs.
- 19:05No.
- 19:05I I I don't believe so.
- 19:07I I've gotten used to your runs.
- 19:09You know?
- 19:12One thing I I I think that remind that's that song reminds me of a sound that sort of come
- 19:21you can kinda kind of hear from a certain studio that might have a certain particular
- 19:26mouse.
- 19:29Yeah.
- 19:31Just saying.
- 19:31It's absolutely Jeffrey there said this is why you sing.
- 19:37Absolutely beautiful, powerful.
- 19:39Yep.
- 19:39I agree.
- 19:40Stop going, Jeffrey.
- 19:42We are sending the link out to everybody tonight.
- 19:46What we'll do is we will try and best include the ones that we know to the show because this
- 19:50going out live, live, live to Facebook and YouTube.
- 19:54So if we don't recognize you, don't think that we're being rude.
- 19:57It's just so we could try and fit on as many people as we can.
- 20:00Jeffrey, please come and join us.
- 20:02We'd love for you to be included in tonight's show.
- 20:04I've just posted up the link.
- 20:08I do appreciate that.
- 20:09That is a it's a great I love that song, though it was our nightmare song.
- 20:20I had to I have to be honest.
- 20:23Two months have worked that song.
- 20:25Two months?
- 20:28Yeah.
- 20:28Two solid months of working on that one song.
- 20:31We had to record his voice so many times because every run-in I don't know if you
- 20:39noticed, but in every section of that song, those runs are specific.
- 20:45They're they're all two step runs.
- 20:48They're all, oh.
- 20:51They're never it's never just a run of, It's always two steps.
- 20:56It's always it's one two, and then a held, and then one two, and then a held.
- 21:00And it's just very hard to get Michael to do that.
- 21:09Because he's he just he goes off.
- 21:12Thought that hard he would yeah.
- 21:14Yeah.
- 21:15You're
- 21:15right.
- 21:16I'm surprised I am surprised that that particular project wasn't, like, 800 gigs large
- 21:22because it was there's so many clips.
- 21:25What is so beautiful.
- 21:26So many re recut recuts and and and great song.
- 21:32Michael, you're like a Freddie Mercury in the studio.
- 21:35Is this just like, and again, and again, and again.
- 21:39Yep.
- 21:39Yeah.
- 21:40Yeah.
- 21:40This was this was not a one shot take.
- 21:43Yeah.
- 21:43The oh, no.
- 21:44That song was a a a a nightmare.
- 21:47And many times, I was like, I'm just gonna wait to do this one.
- 21:52And Jason's like, no.
- 21:54I really believe in this song, and I really, really love it.
- 21:56We've we just gotta do it, dude.
- 21:58We just gotta buckle down.
- 21:59And it is it was arranged.
- 22:04This was one that I had actually arranged as if it was going to be a musical.
- 22:11Like, there are several in here that were basically I thought of myself on stage singing
- 22:19this, and I I pictured this.
- 22:21And I'm like, I get it.
- 22:23I totally get this.
- 22:24Different okay.
- 22:26So that's some ah, woah.
- 22:28No.
- 22:28You wouldn't wanna hear some of them because they were there's a lot of ah, fuck.
- 22:36There's so much is
- 22:38out of these Mostly
- 22:40it's me.
- 22:41Yes.
- 22:42It was like yeah.
- 22:43I'd just be like, just
- 22:45Our neighbors our neighbors hated us.
- 22:47Our our friends hated us when they would come over and visit.
- 22:51Like, would our dogs hated us.
- 22:53Sometimes you create a salon, and you paint yourself in a corner that there's no other way
- 22:59to do it.
- 23:00Like, you're you're already committed.
- 23:01And with that, the arrangement was pretty much set in my head.
- 23:09And laying it out, there was no way to like you said, the runs had to be a certain way.
- 23:16They could there wasn't a lot of freestyle because it was structured.
- 23:21It was a nightmare.
- 23:23Yeah.
- 23:24And and
- 23:24you paid your money for that.
- 23:27You know?
- 23:27For what I should have paid, paid your money for the b side.
- 23:33The those will never see the light of day
- 23:36Yeah.
- 23:36Ever.
- 23:37Yeah.
- 23:38And
- 23:38and I have a reputation to uphold.
- 23:40Yes.
- 23:41Screaming at my husband at 02:00 in the morning is not gonna do that.
- 23:45Yeah.
- 23:45Right.
- 23:46Well, I'm gonna scream at him now because we have gotta go on to the next song.
- 23:49So the next one, the voice.
- 23:51Okay.
- 23:52Voices of Appiah to Dawn.
- 23:53Tell everyone about bit about this.
- 23:55I love this I love this song, but this song was actually written in 2023.
- 24:05And I was watching so much of our country grasping with splitting in half and creating,
- 24:15like, a civil war within our own country.
- 24:18And continued.
- 24:21Why are we why are we focusing on things that separate us when there's so much common?
- 24:30You know, we there's so much that we all have in common with each other.
- 24:37Why are we constantly allowing people to separate us?
- 24:41Why are we jumping in and becoming puppets for people that wanna divide us when we are united.
- 24:49We are we're we all bleed the same blood.
- 24:52We you know?
- 24:53And so I wrote this song literally three years ago because I was I was inspired by a line that
- 25:01just popped in my head.
- 25:03I I wanna live in a world where everybody belongs.
- 25:06And that was the that's what started the song is I wrote that on paper, and I'm like, I want
- 25:13to create a song around that.
- 25:15I wanna live in a world where everybody belongs.
- 25:18And it's true.
- 25:20There's so much shit going on.
- 25:22And this song, I hope it everybody joins me.
- 25:26It's another one of those anthem songs.
- 25:28Duh.
- 25:29But it's an anthem
- 25:30anthem songs.
- 25:32But I hope it's an anthem song that everybody would sing along with me.
- 25:36There you go.
- 25:36Okay.
- 25:37Everybody, sing along with this one.
- 25:38It's voice for by the dawn.
- 25:40Let's go for it.
- 25:41In the silence of the night,
- 25:47I gaze upon a world in fight.
- 25:51So
- 25:52much pain, so much sorrow.
- 25:58In every shadow,
- 26:01there's a fight.
- 26:02I hear the whispers carried by the breeze.
- 26:11Lost hopes
- 26:12echo, begging us to see.
- 26:17But in the darkness, a spark ignite.
- 26:22A flame occur as blowing
- 27:06in that gray eye.
- 27:10The scars they carry are so high.
- 27:16From words that cut like sharp at Why must we tear each other down when
- 27:58we could lift each other off the ground?
- 28:03Why must we judge and criticize when acceptance could make us wholly wise?
- 28:33I am not naive or old fashioned to dream of a world for love is in rashes.
- 28:44It's a vision that's worth fighting for where compassion reigns forevermore.
- 28:51So with our hearts wide open, we will
- 30:14Hey.
- 30:14Look at that voice.
- 30:15Obviously, brought the people to the stage, Michael.
- 30:18We have got Jeffrey, and we also have got the one, the only Caden Gordon.
- 30:22How are we this evening?
- 30:26What's happening?
- 30:27Sorry.
- 30:27My my my camera's off just for a moment.
- 30:30I will I will be there.
- 30:31I'm just walking around right now, and you don't need to see this background.
- 30:34It's crazy.
- 30:37Hey.
- 30:38Hey.
- 30:38Hey.
- 30:38How we doing?
- 30:40Good.
- 30:40How are you doing, sir?
- 30:42Good.
- 30:42I said I would make it, and so I moved some things around, and now you're my you're all
- 30:47mine.
- 30:47So I'm here.
- 30:49I'm feeling honored.
- 30:52I promised I would be here for your big release party.
- 30:56Well, thank you, sir.
- 30:57I really appreciate it.
- 30:59You know, I support you.
- 31:01Yes.
- 31:02Jeffrey, this is Caden.
- 31:03Caden, this is Jeffrey.
- 31:04Hey, Jeffrey.
- 31:05Yeah.
- 31:05We're gonna talk we're gonna talk after the podcast.
- 31:08Ryan, this is Perfect.
- 31:09Ryan, this is Caden.
- 31:11Hello, Caden.
- 31:12Hey, Ryan.
- 31:13Ryan is my oldest friend in Seattle.
- 31:16Not the age oldest, but I the the friend that I met first.
- 31:20In fact, I met him when I was in Nashville before I moved to Seattle because I tried to
- 31:25find some friends with common interests on Facebook, and we just became friends.
- 31:31And so that's how
- 31:33I each other's guts at first.
- 31:36I didn't hate you.
- 31:38Yes.
- 31:38You did.
- 31:40Don't lie.
- 31:40You you hated my my my my self centeredness, which now has become a
- 31:45Because the very first day we met, we we all went to eat, and then Ryan's looked at me and
- 31:52said, would you buy my dinner for me?
- 31:58That's bold.
- 31:59That's bold.
- 32:00I love that.
- 32:01Thank you.
- 32:02I I I'm not afraid to be bold, and I'm not afraid to speak my mind and and and and and,
- 32:06you know
- 32:07I I didn't even really know him that well.
- 32:09I'm like, I guess.
- 32:12Yes.
- 32:13You you couldn't say no, could you?
- 32:14You were like, I mean, aren't it?
- 32:17I guess.
- 32:17I guess we will.
- 32:18So
- 32:19And and and you yourself, Michael, have known in this industry, you have to speak your mind,
- 32:23and you have to ask for things that you normally wouldn't ask for.
- 32:26That's true.
- 32:28I mean, you know By Aston Martins.
- 32:30Yeah?
- 32:30By Aston Martins.
- 32:31Still waiting.
- 32:33Still waiting.
- 32:34Yes.
- 32:34Bubba, where are you?
- 32:35We're still waiting.
- 32:36I thought Bubba would hop in here.
- 32:39He is I think he's in a meeting.
- 32:41Bubba starts, where are you?
- 32:42We are wanting you here for the amazing and the amazing Michael Cagels, a release of
- 32:48Confessions of a Broken Child, which releases time.
- 32:52Yes.
- 32:52Okay.
- 32:54Okay.
- 32:54So the next one is actually the track from the actual album itself.
- 32:58So broken child, I'm going to play that for everybody.
- 33:01What is this song all about?
- 33:03Okay.
- 33:03Well, this is a there's gonna be several songs that are gonna be very hard for me to listen
- 33:07to.
- 33:08So if I tear up, that's just hearing these songs and coming to life.
- 33:14This this song is a really personal song.
- 33:20I was dealing with a lot of serious depression.
- 33:25And like I said, I have a tremendous fear of failure, which is at times crippling.
- 33:31And Jason and I had a argument about a lot of some some things that were going on, mostly
- 33:39personal for me, that I made him have to deal with.
- 33:44And he literally said to me, you know, we just need to find out, you know, how you can
- 33:51overcome this.
- 33:51And this was, like, a catalyst for doing the album itself, actually.
- 33:56And I looked at him, and I said I remember very vividly.
- 33:59I said, I I just there are times I feel like I'm just a broken child, and I haven't grown up
- 34:06fully.
- 34:07And that became the catalyst for this song.
- 34:10And then I started delving into you know, I'm not putting a blame on, you know, my the way I
- 34:19was raised, but I that had something to do with it.
- 34:22You know?
- 34:22And and I was, like, I was gay when I was young.
- 34:26Like, I'm still gay, but I got picked on a lot.
- 34:31I mean, it was not the norm to have someone that was like me.
- 34:38You know?
- 34:38And I so I I've I've dealt with a lot of I've dealt with a lot of abuse both at home and at
- 34:47school, almost
- 34:49to
- 34:49the point where I almost took my life.
- 34:51It got that heavy.
- 34:53And so there are things that I dealt with.
- 34:56So this song kind of talks about that.
- 34:58This is a very, very raw personal, and it became the title track for the album.
- 35:06So
- 35:06Okay.
- 35:07So before we play, I just wanna say to you, Michael, all of us give lots and lots of love
- 35:11to you.
- 35:12There are loves flooding in from all our there.
- 35:16Okay?
- 35:17You've got love from everywhere, Even from France, it's well, okay, from France has given
- 35:23you some love.
- 35:23Has given you some love.
- 35:28The love is coming from everywhere, and we are all 100% behind you.
- 35:33So this is Gal and Myers as well and also Brenda.
- 35:36They wanna send you some love as well.
- 35:38Okay?
- 35:38So they're all listed in on various platforms, and, hopefully, they could all come and join
- 35:43us.
- 35:43Okay?
- 35:43So the next one is Broken Child.
- 35:46Listen.
- 35:47For all those who have joined us this evening and are live with us, please turn those
- 35:51microphones off because we all wanna hear this amazing, amazing song.
- 36:06There were no brooms
- 36:08you could see,
- 36:13but something shattered
- 36:16deep in you.
- 36:20The words they use cut worse than the nose, and silence filled the space they chose.
- 36:30At home, the walls would sometimes shake.
- 36:35Love was something I had to bathe.
- 36:46I wasn't soft, I was just strange, trying to fit to rearrange.
- 36:55The I never have what others had, but I'm still here, and that's not bad.
- 38:00I told myself it wouldn't last, that I'd outgrown the broken past.
- 38:11Yeah.
- 38:13But some things stay no matter time.
- 38:17They hide in corners of your mind.
- 38:22Still here I am, scarred not gone, still waking up, still holding on.
- 38:32I'm a broken child, and that's the truth.
- 38:39The China don't see in a folded rough of yield.
- 38:45I carry roams no light reveals, but they shape the way I learn to feel.
- 38:58I never had
- 39:30I used to miss.
- 39:35Laughter, peace, and authentic kiss.
- 39:41I chase the joy I once denied, but kid, I was still once beside.
- 39:49I hate the scars when now I see their proof of the fight I have to still be me.
- 40:02I'm a broken child, and that's the truth.
- 41:58Wow.
- 42:03I'm gonna go with Glenn Galen's comment first.
- 42:07Oh my god.
- 42:08So good.
- 42:09I am crying.
- 42:11Michael, are you okay?
- 42:12I saw you've cried in the background there, buddy.
- 42:14Are you okay?
- 42:14It's a well, first of all, Galen is my brother.
- 42:19Like, that's my boy.
- 42:20That's that's and the fact he's watching this means everything, but it is I can only say, and
- 42:28I and I know you're you're an artist.
- 42:31And Jeffrey's an artist.
- 42:33Brian's an artist.
- 42:34When you when you have a vision in your head, whether you've written it or not, but
- 42:39especially when you've written it, to hear it come to fruition and everything that you wanted
- 42:48to say, it's out there.
- 42:51It's like it's like you don't have to keep secrets or you don't have to bottle it in
- 42:57anymore.
- 42:57You can just say this is how I am or this is what I've gone through.
- 43:02It is such an emotional release.
- 43:07Like, I I can't believe that I was brave enough to write it, much less sing it, and then send
- 43:15it out there.
- 43:16But I know that there are other people that went through the same thing that I did, that
- 43:20some of them were afraid you know, ashamed or afraid to to say that they went through, you
- 43:25know, a lot that as much as they try to say it didn't affect them, it really does.
- 43:32And part of the healing process is just saying, I'm not gonna be ever I'm not gonna ever be
- 43:38able to change the past.
- 43:39That's what I went through, and I have to understand that that helps or has helped mold
- 43:46me to who I am.
- 43:48And what I do from that point on is up to me.
- 43:51So, yeah,
- 43:54It's really beautiful.
- 43:55You know, Jeffrey, you've got, like, a little tear in your eye there as well, buddy.
- 43:59You know, please, please, all of who's joined us this evening, give us some comments on the
- 44:03songs that you're hearing.
- 44:04At the moment, I'm too well up to actually comment.
- 44:07Michael I just I I wanna say, Michael, it it was it was interesting because it's a it's a
- 44:16rare song that that, like, chokes me up from the first note and that that the song started.
- 44:21And I was just like, I felt just that tinge in my heart, and I was like, oh, here we go.
- 44:25And and that was that was powerful, and I just wanna say, brother, I see you.
- 44:29I love you, and I'm so I'm so glad that you're with us, and I'm glad that you're doing what
- 44:33you were meant to be doing.
- 44:35So this incredible.
- 44:37Michael, it it relates to people.
- 44:39It re it reveals a sense of humanity, the lyrics, and, and it tells us clear story that
- 44:47thousands of other people can relate to, I can guarantee you.
- 44:52And that's what's so beautiful about it.
- 44:56And we're so proud of you.
- 44:57I open up your heart.
- 44:59We really are, Michael.
- 45:00And, seriously, it takes a lot for a songwriter to put where they're feeling in their lyrics
- 45:06and show the world, and you've done that through that song.
- 45:09And we are so proud of you.
- 45:11We love every single lyric, and we love every single note.
- 45:15And you can tell the emotion in that song so, so much, and I love it.
- 45:21It's such a really great song.
- 45:23Really, really great song.
- 45:25Thank you.
- 45:25Okay.
- 45:26You're supposed to
- 45:26be making me cry, like, ten in the morning.
- 45:28Come on.
- 45:29Yeah.
- 45:30Well, it's gonna be there.
- 45:31Jordan, Osei has joined us.
- 45:34Hiya, Jordan.
- 45:35How are you?
- 45:35What's up, wifey?
- 45:36She
- 45:41said it's a very powerful song.
- 45:42I and
- 45:43thank you.
- 45:44I I I just really I committed to being I didn't care what I sounded like vocally.
- 45:56I only cared about driving the message at home.
- 46:01Like, I I wanted to step on a mountain and say, this is who I am.
- 46:08And so I made no apologies then.
- 46:11So there you go.
- 46:13Okay.
- 46:13I'd go through a million lives.
- 46:15Tell everybody a bit about this, and then I'll get it ready for you.
- 46:18Okay.
- 46:19So this is a really cool song.
- 46:21I I'm I'm kind of a romantic.
- 46:23I obviously am My best friend is my husband.
- 46:30Like, that's just the truth.
- 46:32There's nobody we started out as best friends when we met.
- 46:36We before we even became a couple or anything, we just were best friends, and it was a
- 46:41relationship that was birthed out of that.
- 46:47This song is I either write anthems or or sappy love songs, I guess.
- 46:55But this is a song that I wrote visualizing in my head.
- 47:00I want a studio to pick this song up because it's a fairy tale song for everybody that's in
- 47:08love.
- 47:09Like, when you're with a person that you know, you don't want time or death or anything to
- 47:18separate you.
- 47:19Like and so this song literally says that regardless of the situation, I I would do
- 47:27whatever you'll hear the lyrics.
- 47:29But that's that's kinda where it comes from.
- 47:32And one of the hardest songs I've ever recorded in my life, This song stupid.
- 47:42Like, I'm like, why did I do this?
- 47:45You hear it, but it's oh.
- 47:48Okay.
- 47:49I'm gonna go through a mini live.
- 47:51Spy bike.
- 47:51Okay.
- 47:51Go.
- 47:52Let's put this one on.
- 48:19Whispered there's more down set of ness.
- 48:24I knew something was missing I couldn't disguise.
- 48:28A piece must be red light in my eyes.
- 48:33Someone bound there was crawling my name.
- 48:37I held on the hope you would feel in the shade.
- 48:41When you showed up shining light through through the dark, you're the peace I was
- 48:47missing tale.
- 49:35Your every subplum as I always believed, that dream I was missing was you next to me.
- 49:43Know all of my fish feel like Christmas but alive.
- 49:48A life that A man tomorrows can never sever the smile that'll find you always forever.
- 52:18Wow.
- 52:22I I have my my my notes.
- 52:26I I have five words.
- 52:27I think that's my favorite.
- 52:29I think that that's that's probably my top one of my top.
- 52:32I have five words for you, Michael.
- 52:34Get
- 52:34And I have a challenge for you, Michael.
- 52:37Any any morning radio show you do, start with that.
- 52:41That one?
- 52:42Start with that one.
- 52:43Together.
- 52:43What a comment,
- 52:44That's a I I I got five words.
- 52:47Give them the Grammy.
- 52:47It was more so a joke because it's like, that's a really challenging song to be doing that
- 52:51early in the morning.
- 52:52Yeah.
- 52:52Yeah.
- 52:53It's
- 52:54you you where where's your Grammy, dude?
- 52:58It's common, isn't it, Michael?
- 53:00Amazing song.
- 53:01Amazing song.
- 53:02He was once told, Michael Cagle, we're recording this off song five now.
- 53:07Okay?
- 53:08You were once told that that Grammy, you had to be number one in a certain chart when I first
- 53:14picked you up.
- 53:14And I thought, do know what?
- 53:16This gentleman should have 10 Grammys by now.
- 53:18Not not one Grammy by now.
- 53:20These songs are phenomenal.
- 53:22They are literally
- 53:23flying out,
- 53:24and they are really phenomenal.
- 53:27Yeah.
- 53:27Just thank you.
- 53:28I yeah.
- 53:30God.
- 53:31This is hard.
- 53:33I I yeah.
- 53:34Yeah.
- 53:35This is yeah.
- 53:38Yeah.
- 53:40I literally poured every emotion that I possibly could into all of my songwriting
- 53:48because I never thought I was a songwriter.
- 53:50I I always thought I knew how to sell a song and but I never really thought that I had the
- 54:00the talent or I I just listened to so many p other people, that I was just enamored with
- 54:08songwriting wise.
- 54:09And I I think the one key that I said with this is whether I fail or succeed with this, it's
- 54:16gonna be real.
- 54:17It's gonna be exactly what I wanna say, how I wanna say it, whether it comes across corny or
- 54:26peep whatever.
- 54:27I just I want it to be me.
- 54:28So there you go.
- 54:29I can't remember what film it is.
- 54:31Failure is not an option.
- 54:33We ain't got time for failure, Michael Cagle.
- 54:35We're gonna be too busy this year.
- 54:40Then go for this one, the next one.
- 54:42The the okay.
- 54:43So this was my attempt.
- 54:48God.
- 54:49I have always been a lot of people have compared you.
- 54:54I can't even put you on top oh, my god.
- 54:56Oh, Galen.
- 54:58Thank you.
- 55:01I love you, bud.
- 55:04I love you, my brother.
- 55:05I I have been compared to several different people, and and a lot of people have had
- 55:12influence on my singing and my style.
- 55:15And one was, everybody's like, you're you remind me a lot of Meatloaf because you're so
- 55:21theatrical when you sing.
- 55:22It's just like the movements and the things that you kinda do with your voice.
- 55:26You just you're you're not typically you don't follow a lot of the same rules.
- 55:31And I took that as a compliment, and I said, I wanted to do a dramatic kind of meatloaf rock
- 55:45meatloaf rock song that would be at the end of a big Hollywood blockbuster.
- 55:53Like and so I wrote that this with thinking I I think I had just seen twisters.
- 56:02And so adjusting twisters, and so that movie was still in my head.
- 56:08And so this is my version of what I would sing at the end of, like, the next Twisters movie
- 56:16with a a nod to Meatwolf.
- 56:19Fantastic.
- 56:20Well, I'll tell you what.
- 56:21For those listening, for those who are into Twisters, and for those who are going to be
- 56:25putting out the next Twisters film, we want this one onto the next film.
- 56:28Okay?
- 56:29This is Stanford in the storm.
- 57:43Can reach no better what we're exposed to.
- 57:52I will stand strong.
- 1:02:13Wow.
- 1:02:13Wow.
- 1:02:13Wow.
- 1:02:14Wow.
- 1:02:14Wow.
- 1:02:14We we've got some lovely, lovely comments coming through from Keeney.
- 1:02:18Wow.
- 1:02:18I'm so incredibly proud of you, Michael.
- 1:02:21I know how difficult it is to do this, and I'm watching.
- 1:02:24If I need to do the same, did you want us to cry with every single song, LOL?
- 1:02:32Totally agree.
- 1:02:33Michael's on mute.
- 1:02:34Let's unmute him so he can say what he's doing.
- 1:02:37There you go.
- 1:02:38Yeah.
- 1:02:40I just I really do hope that what people will grab from this is the authenticity and the
- 1:02:50feelings and the the emotion that was I'm trying you know, that I really wanted to
- 1:02:58convey.
- 1:02:59I felt like I don't know how many albums I can put out.
- 1:03:03I don't even know how many people care, but I wanted to make sure that what I was putting out
- 1:03:09really reflected who I am and so that somebody would listen to this and say, now I understand
- 1:03:17why he is who he is.
- 1:03:19And I and I get to I get to know him.
- 1:03:23I always I've always liked authentic emotions.
- 1:03:28Wow.
- 1:03:28My god.
- 1:03:31Should we read that out properly, Michael?
- 1:03:33Come on.
- 1:03:33Let's read about properly.
- 1:03:34Authentic emotion comes through every song that is missing in so much of the industry right
- 1:03:39now.
- 1:03:40This is an artistry.
- 1:03:42Wow.
- 1:03:44Absolutely beautiful comment.
- 1:03:45And I have to speak to him.
- 1:03:46Galen is my brother.
- 1:03:49Galen is a ridiculous singer.
- 1:03:54Oh, he's great.
- 1:03:55I mean, absolutely, Galen is one of the best vocalists I've ever had I've ever known, and he
- 1:04:03is actually part of my tenor group.
- 1:04:06There's three of us in the end of the tenor group, and he's one of them.
- 1:04:09And he's a ear for harmony.
- 1:04:12He's just incredible.
- 1:04:14And I, you know, I will say this.
- 1:04:19I'm glad he's watching the show because he's very lucky to be alive.
- 1:04:24He is a survivor of a hit and run accident on his motorcycle, and he was left for dead.
- 1:04:30The person just drove off.
- 1:04:31And Galen is a strong, strong individual, and he was able he was able to pull through.
- 1:04:39And now, of course, he's on the road to recovery, and I love him to death.
- 1:04:43It means so much.
- 1:04:45Not just words that he's saying, but the fact that he's alive and with us to say them is
- 1:04:53amazing and is really the ultimate gift.
- 1:04:56And he's so, so proud of you.
- 1:04:57He really is.
- 1:04:58Father looks to me.
- 1:04:59You know, these beautiful comments come in.
- 1:05:01This song, Michael, to me this song to me, Michael, says, this is this is a Michael that I
- 1:05:08know and love.
- 1:05:10And because you're just known to me as, like, the guy who just belts it out, and you just you
- 1:05:17do so so seamlessly.
- 1:05:21And you make it look easy.
- 1:05:24And it's really not.
- 1:05:26And and it the key change the key changes in there were incredible, and it just I mean,
- 1:05:32Jason
- 1:05:33I drove Jay that's funny.
- 1:05:35I drove Jason crazy.
- 1:05:37He's like, can we do a song without a key change, please?
- 1:05:42Because I there wasn't a key there wasn't a time that I didn't wanna do a key change just
- 1:05:48because I just grew up with that kind of theatrical background where here we're here
- 1:05:54we're going into the climax of the song.
- 1:05:56We need to yeah.
- 1:05:57I that's cute that you picked that up.
- 1:05:59I yes.
- 1:06:01It's
- 1:06:02Alright, mister.
- 1:06:03The track number seven halfway through the album.
- 1:06:07Okay?
- 1:06:07So this one, don't count me out.
- 1:06:10Tell us a bit about it.
- 1:06:11Okay.
- 1:06:11Well, this is very simple.
- 1:06:12This is a lot of the song a lot of the songs, like I said, are anthems both to the people
- 1:06:19that listen to them and me.
- 1:06:21This one just talks about the fact that there was a lot of doubters.
- 1:06:26And even putting this album together and then wanting to release it, people were talking a
- 1:06:31lot of shit.
- 1:06:32Like, you're just you're not good enough.
- 1:06:34What makes you think you can do that?
- 1:06:35Why would anybody want that?
- 1:06:37There's I I deserve it more than you.
- 1:06:41And so this song just talked about my desire of I've been I've been pushed down.
- 1:06:50I've I've sat in you know, and put my dreams to the side, but I'm not finished yet.
- 1:06:59Okay.
- 1:06:59Well, you're definitely not finished because you got another album to come out, and we still
- 1:07:03gotta get this one out.
- 1:07:03So we're not going anywhere.
- 1:07:05Okay?
- 1:07:05Don't count Michael out because we are going to be around for a long, long time coming.
- 1:07:11Face that I dreamed to beg to allow,
- 1:07:17told me I should settle down.
- 1:07:22Said
- 1:07:23my voice would never matter that I burned before I'd shatter.
- 1:07:34But I've walked through fires still on my feet, with
- 1:07:40every scar I found barely.
- 1:07:44I've been roped, bruised, and bound, but I'm still standing.
- 1:07:53Watch me now.
- 1:07:56Don't count me up.
- 1:07:58I'm not done yet.
- 1:08:02Gone a thousand miles.
- 1:08:04No regrets.
- 1:08:08Swinging wandering through my guard.
- 1:08:11Every made promises in the dark, lit my wind like a burning spark.
- 1:08:42But they say I wasn't good enough.
- 1:08:48I'm about chasing dreams.
- 1:08:49It's just too tough, but I've got tribe.
- 1:08:52I've got no flame.
- 1:08:54You'll remember my name.
- 1:08:58Don't count me up.
- 1:09:01I'm not done yet.
- 1:09:04Got a dozen hours, no regrets.
- 1:09:10Swinging one with full of gark.
- 1:09:13Every time to steal my shot.
- 1:09:16It's a long roadie year, no me out.
- 1:09:38Do you remember my name?
- 1:09:42Don't count me out.
- 1:09:46I'm not done yet.
- 1:09:49Got a thousand miles.
- 1:09:51No regret.
- 1:09:53Swinging hard with all my god.
- 1:10:12Dozen us, no regrets.
- 1:10:17Swing it hard with all I've got.
- 1:10:21Every time to steal my shot.
- 1:10:24It's a
- 1:11:08And if
- 1:11:09I fall, you know my name.
- 1:11:14It's a long shot, but I'm still proud.
- 1:11:19So don't count me.
- 1:11:22Don't count me out.
- 1:11:27Beautiful.
- 1:11:29We do beautiful for you.
- 1:11:30Beautiful.
- 1:11:31Beautiful.
- 1:11:31We have Maya who's come to the show.
- 1:11:34Welcome, Maya.
- 1:11:35How are you?
- 1:11:37Disappeared in the background.
- 1:11:39Hiya.
- 1:11:41We can't hear you, sir.
- 1:11:43We can't hear
- 1:11:43There you go.
- 1:11:46There we go.
- 1:11:47Hi.
- 1:11:50Sounds wonderful.
- 1:11:52I love it.
- 1:11:53I love you.
- 1:11:54I love you, Dee.
- 1:11:56Fantastic.
- 1:11:57I know that you don't like being called an anthem writer, but, honestly, they inspire.
- 1:12:05They really do.
- 1:12:06Like, they lift you up.
- 1:12:08No kidding.
- 1:12:10And to to Maya's point, I wanna say, Michael, personally, I'm I'm gonna keep that one close
- 1:12:16to my chest, to my heart for when I need it because I I too deal with a lot of people,
- 1:12:24especially ones that used to be some of my closest friends that told me, dude, you're not
- 1:12:29good enough.
- 1:12:30I mean, like, you were you were cute in your acapella group, but trying to do your own
- 1:12:33thing, you're just not good enough.
- 1:12:35And then even booking agents in the casino circuit are like, you're not gonna make it on
- 1:12:39your own.
- 1:12:40And, you know, it's just that that anthem was powerful.
- 1:12:43It just it it it reignites it helps re keep the fire ignited, if you will, in in my heart to
- 1:12:49just be like, you know what?
- 1:12:50I'm gonna keep pushing regardless.
- 1:12:52I love that.
- 1:12:53I love that.
- 1:12:54And, no, I don't give a crap what anybody says.
- 1:12:58You're the real deal, Jeffrey.
- 1:13:00So He certainly did.
- 1:13:02Jeffrey, just so you know, you've got people fighting for you.
- 1:13:05Everybody wants your signature, mister.
- 1:13:10I'll happily give it.
- 1:13:11Where's the Sharpie?
- 1:13:12Hand it to me.
- 1:13:13Alright.
- 1:13:16Anyway, just I've gotta read this one out.
- 1:13:18Megan Hardy.
- 1:13:19I think this is such a lovely, lovely message.
- 1:13:21I love everything you have done, Michael.
- 1:13:23You put your whole heart into everything you have created.
- 1:13:27I love that I can turn my Spotify and hear your voice and how far you have made it.
- 1:13:33It's soothing to on my drives during the day.
- 1:13:36I brag to everyone who hears it and how proud of you I am.
- 1:13:41Hey, Ryan.
- 1:13:43BGW.
- 1:13:44Megan, that's beautiful.
- 1:13:47Thank you so much, Megan.
- 1:13:48Thank you.
- 1:13:49And, Maya, I have to say thank you.
- 1:13:51I know you're on work, you're you're doing this on your lunch break.
- 1:13:55I love you.
- 1:13:55This woman is a classical diva, like, miss opera, miss yes.
- 1:14:05And she's probably we're she's gotta be my long lost sister because we are just kinda twins.
- 1:14:15Like, it's
- 1:14:16We really are.
- 1:14:17We really are.
- 1:14:18And I love her to death.
- 1:14:20She's yes.
- 1:14:21She's somebody that has made my life better by being in my life.
- 1:14:26I could say the same.
- 1:14:28I know.
- 1:14:28This is lovely.
- 1:14:31I love this.
- 1:14:32Okay.
- 1:14:32So tonight is Michael Cagle's release of his brand new album, Confessions of a Broken Child.
- 1:14:40You are literally seven songs through, Michael.
- 1:14:43We have seven great songs, and we are now quarter past seven.
- 1:14:48So I reckon that we should give Michael a bit of time to go and get some Scooby Stacks.
- 1:14:54Okay?
- 1:14:54And also go and grab himself a coffee.
- 1:14:57We're not gonna have the pure and easy tea coffee break.
- 1:15:00We are gonna do a coffee break only the way than which Michael can do a coffee break.
- 1:15:05So I'm gonna let everybody have a five, six minute break.
- 1:15:09If you need to go for the toilet break or go and get an ice cream from the auditorium,
- 1:15:13please go and get an ice cream because Michael would like to bring to the stage himself, and
- 1:15:19we will be back with you in about five minutes.
- 1:15:22Okay?
- 1:15:22We're just gonna take a quick break so everybody can get a bit of a comfort break
- 1:15:26because it's gonna be a long show.
- 1:15:28Okay?
- 1:15:29Because we've got another seven songs to come along.
- 1:15:32And if you're not joining us, please come and join us for the party.
- 1:15:35Okay?
- 1:15:35Enjoy your Scooby Stacks.
- 1:15:37This is the one, the only, Michael Cagle.
- 1:15:47How the heck do I get out of here?
- 1:15:50Okay.
- 1:15:51I had the chance, I'd go back in time.
- 1:15:54Love
- 1:15:54that song.
- 1:15:55The moments I left behind.
- 1:15:58But I would only change what I've been through if I knew it would still lead me to you.
- 1:16:05Yes.
- 1:16:05I take it up, the joy, the pain, but I need your love to remain.
- 1:16:14Thy gods was anything.
- 1:17:27Not
- 1:17:30I'm
- 1:17:31to to I'm but the sweetest love waits on the other side.
- 1:18:32So take a risk with me.
- 1:18:35Step into the mystery.
- 1:19:18Believing in me again.
- 1:19:23Search you for loving me.
- 1:19:27Through my fire and my fight, call me yours undying.
- 1:19:35I'm not changing or adapting through every fire and all this
- 1:20:40Hi, everybody.
- 1:20:41Have we had our comfort break?
- 1:20:44Oh, yeah.
- 1:20:45Michael just literally texted.
- 1:20:47Look.
- 1:20:47He's so professional.
- 1:20:48Look at this.
- 1:20:52Everybody I'm getting all these cool texts and messages.
- 1:20:57Oh, it's lovely.
- 1:20:59I love it.
- 1:21:00Okay.
- 1:21:03Alright, Michael.
- 1:21:04We can catch up with the techs after the show.
- 1:21:06We're gonna be here all night.
- 1:21:08Okay?
- 1:21:08Yeah.
- 1:21:08It.
- 1:21:10We have a whole another six hours to go, Michael.
- 1:21:12Come on.
- 1:21:13Right.
- 1:21:16Okay.
- 1:21:16Michael, let's get on to track number eight, which is Mirror of the Soul.
- 1:21:22Let's go on to that one.
- 1:21:23Tell us a bit about it.
- 1:21:24I you know, I one of my favorite one of my absolute favorite Michael Jackson songs was Man
- 1:21:36in the Mirror.
- 1:21:37And I thought that is such a great way such a great song that talks about someone saying they
- 1:21:47need to start with themselves.
- 1:21:48And I and I thought, you know, what about if we expanded this?
- 1:21:55And I wanted to capture kind of an r and b field, but I said, what about if I we capture
- 1:22:00that kind of thing, but for all of us, for each person rather than just, you know, them you
- 1:22:10know, just myself singing it.
- 1:22:11What about if there was a mirror that revealed who we really were despite all the fashion and
- 1:22:19makeup and and purple hair dye we wear.
- 1:22:25We love that purple hair.
- 1:22:26Okay.
- 1:22:26Mirror of the soul, everybody.
- 1:22:47A little polished
- 1:22:50to face the day.
- 1:22:53Spray a little courage,
- 1:22:56wear a little pride, but it only touches what's outside.
- 1:23:07What if the glass could seem much more, compassion evil love or pride would we shine
- 1:23:33within the way we shine outside would we learn to love instead of just to hide?
- 1:23:45The mirror doesn't lie.
- 1:23:48It opens up our eyes.
- 1:23:51Real beauty lives in kindness Would you stand proud of what you see?
- 1:24:42The truth will shine, it can't be blurred.
- 1:24:47No filter hides the weight of The mirror doesn't lie.
- 1:26:51It shows the light inside.
- 1:26:56And the beauty of the soul will always
- 1:27:30Wow.
- 1:27:31Wow.
- 1:27:31Wow.
- 1:27:34Do you know what?
- 1:27:35I I don't know what it is about you, Michael.
- 1:27:36I'm I'm I'm sorry.
- 1:27:37I've gotta say this as as a very good friend and also one who is promoting this album.
- 1:27:43I always get halfway through an album, and I'm always worried what the b side's gonna be like.
- 1:27:48But with you, I know that it's just gonna continue to be phenomenal.
- 1:27:52You know you know, we're on track eight now, and every single one of them, I've got hairs on
- 1:27:58my arms, on my legs, everywhere, which is standing up on end because it's just the power
- 1:28:04of your voice comes through every single track is phenomenal.
- 1:28:09There's not many artists out there who could do that.
- 1:28:11There really isn't.
- 1:28:12There really isn't.
- 1:28:13And it's pleasure a working with you.
- 1:28:15Oh, I best decision I ever did was connect with you and and I there's been a lot of people that
- 1:28:24have helped that I I could you know, and are still helping.
- 1:28:30But as mentor and your guidance and friendship and support and us, wisdom and insight has been
- 1:28:41so pivotal.
- 1:28:43Like, the last six weeks we've been or we've known each other for a bit, but we've really
- 1:28:49gotten for about two and a half months or three months, and that has been just an explosion.
- 1:28:57I encourage
- 1:28:59So excited.
- 1:29:00I am so
- 1:29:01excited to know
- 1:29:02I love the line in that song, Michael.
- 1:29:04I love the the the the phrase, real beauty lives in kindness that never dies, and that
- 1:29:10could not be very more more that that that that is so true.
- 1:29:14That phrase is so true, and and that that just sticks out.
- 1:29:18And and you and I are gonna have a nice long hour conversation today, so make sure you're
- 1:29:23available today because I got some ideas.
- 1:29:27You and I are you're you know what I'm talking about already.
- 1:29:31Jeffrey, bless him.
- 1:29:31How are doing, Jeffrey?
- 1:29:33Are you with us now?
- 1:29:34I'm back.
- 1:29:36You're back.
- 1:29:38Welcome back, Jeffrey.
- 1:29:40Yeah.
- 1:29:41I don't know what I did wrong, but it I I could hear you guys, but I couldn't hear the song.
- 1:29:44I was like, what is happening?
- 1:29:46So I couldn't tell if, like, I was like, are we waiting for the song to start?
- 1:29:49And then it looked like y'all were listening to it.
- 1:29:50So I was like, what what am I doing wrong?
- 1:29:54Well, if anybody's missing tonight's show, do not worry.
- 1:29:57It's being recorded on YouTube where you can rewind the show and watch this as many times as
- 1:30:03you want.
- 1:30:03But at its release day, it means that it's gonna be going to many, many records and albums
- 1:30:10and radio stations and podcasts.
- 1:30:13We are going to be hearing a lot more of this, Michael.
- 1:30:15It's only day one.
- 1:30:17Okay?
- 1:30:19This means so much.
- 1:30:21I I I can't even tell you.
- 1:30:23Fantastic.
- 1:30:24Okay.
- 1:30:25Let's go for the next one then.
- 1:30:26So was that that one?
- 1:30:28What's the next one on the list?
- 1:30:30We have got this is wake up and claim it.
- 1:30:34Okay.
- 1:30:35This is a song.
- 1:30:41This is another anthem.
- 1:30:44Duh.
- 1:30:45What a shot.
- 1:30:46Really?
- 1:30:47I knew.
- 1:30:48What?
- 1:30:49That's such a novelty.
- 1:30:52This one just talks about it's okay to have a dream and a goal.
- 1:31:02It's okay to support everybody else, but don't don't ever stop focusing on your dreams and
- 1:31:12your needs because you're the best person to take care of those.
- 1:31:17And so this song just kind of there's an anthem about doing that.
- 1:31:23So there you go.
- 1:31:23Fantastic.
- 1:31:24Wake up and climb, everybody.
- 1:31:32Castles in the clouds and neigh across the sky.
- 1:31:38See yourself a champion standing in the light.
- 1:31:43No fear of the distance, just wings built for fight.
- 1:31:50Then the world gets heavy, storms begin to talk, whispers of you'll never make it shadow
- 1:31:59every walk.
- 1:32:02Doubt taps on your window, tries to settle in your chest.
- 1:32:07But that's just the test before you rise above the rest.
- 1:32:13A dream's just a dream till you wake up and claim it.
- 1:32:16Anything with heaven makes you fight just to name it.
- 1:32:19You'll hear a thousand notes who build your skin thick.
- 1:32:22If it came too easy, you'll forget every bit.
- 1:32:26When you stand on the mountain carved out of your pain, you'll know it was worth every fight
- 1:32:36in the rain.
- 1:32:37A dream's just a dream.
- 1:32:43So wake up and clean.
- 1:32:45Let's say the road is broken.
- 1:32:46Let's say the cost is high.
- 1:32:50Try to sell you comfort just to watch your fire die.
- 1:32:56But still get stronger with the hammer and the flame.
- 1:33:02Gold don't shine for nothing.
- 1:33:05You gotta earn that name.
- 1:33:08So hold on to that vision.
- 1:33:11You're young to self believe.
- 1:33:14Reach higher when you stumble.
- 1:33:17Find the power when you bleed.
- 1:33:21Hope's a restless soldier marching through the night.
- 1:33:26You're the only one who owns it.
- 1:33:30You decide to fight.
- 1:33:32A dream's just a dream till you wake up and claim it.
- 1:33:35Anything worth having makes you fight just to name it.
- 1:33:38You'll hear it doesn't know, so build your skin thick.
- 1:33:41If it can too easy, you forget everything.
- 1:33:45When you stand on that mountain carved out of your pain, you'll know it was worth every
- 1:33:54fight.
- 1:33:55And a rain dream's just a dream.
- 1:34:27In beds.
- 1:34:28Give it what you own.
- 1:34:34When your hands are bleeding, when your spirit's thin, when the nights feel endless,
- 1:34:43let that fire in.
- 1:34:45Close your eyes, see that child reaching for the sky.
- 1:34:51Promise you'll never miss dream.
- 1:34:55Just there.
- 1:35:01A dream's just a dream till you wake up and claim it.
- 1:35:04Anything with heaven makes you fight just a name it.
- 1:35:07You'll hear it doesn't know.
- 1:35:09So good as you can think.
- 1:35:10If it can do either you forget everything.
- 1:35:13But when you stand up at the mountain, coughed out of your pain, you'll know it was worse.
- 1:35:22Every fight in the rain, I change just a j.
- 1:35:55Yes.
- 1:35:56King of the key changes.
- 1:35:59God.
- 1:36:01Jason was killing me.
- 1:36:03I hate you.
- 1:36:06That's so funny.
- 1:36:06King of the key changes.
- 1:36:08Oh, I like being off of the the the when you when when in that song, when one of your verses
- 1:36:14was ending and then you came in and and started the second, that that was really cool.
- 1:36:18Yeah.
- 1:36:19That's that's that's my
- 1:36:20Was that your idea or was that Jason's?
- 1:36:24I think that kind of was a mix.
- 1:36:26He loves doing that.
- 1:36:27He does that in quite a few things.
- 1:36:29He's like, I want I just wanna feel like one thing sometimes is connected to the other, and
- 1:36:33then it's it's spit you know?
- 1:36:35So, yeah, Jason is a genius.
- 1:36:39I mean, really, he's I I come up with really good arrangements, and he finds a way to make
- 1:36:46them happen.
- 1:36:47Let's talk about and
- 1:36:48I got a bit I got bit.
- 1:36:49Well, let's talk about you and Jason because you I there's not many people
- 1:36:53who who You were gonna
- 1:36:54say well.
- 1:36:54And work together so well.
- 1:36:57Yes.
- 1:36:59You know, where did you meet?
- 1:37:01We met in college.
- 1:37:04Okay.
- 1:37:05So we met in college and yeah.
- 1:37:12We met in college in 1995.
- 1:37:17Oh, wow.
- 1:37:18And we were both in the an an elite an elite jazz group in college.
- 1:37:28And I was singing first tenor, and he sings first tenor.
- 1:37:33And it's a long story.
- 1:37:41But we for me, I I I fell in love, like, instantly.
- 1:37:48In fact, one of the songs talks about on this album.
- 1:37:50It's cute.
- 1:37:52And I just immediately knew, uh-oh.
- 1:37:54I'm in trouble because this was the this was the person.
- 1:37:59And we became best friends.
- 1:38:05I mean, absolute best friends.
- 1:38:06Nothing romantic.
- 1:38:08Nothing physical.
- 1:38:10We were just it was all based on emotion and chemistry and compassion and are the same
- 1:38:16likes.
- 1:38:16And we just became best, best friends.
- 1:38:19And about three years after that, we jumped in in 1999 and became a couple.
- 1:38:26And we have stuck through the highs and the lows and everything.
- 1:38:33And I couldn't have a better partner in my corner than than him.
- 1:38:41He he's
- 1:38:42You two are phenomenal together.
- 1:38:43You really are.
- 1:38:44The producer and vocalist.
- 1:38:46You know, to what you put together is absolutely phenomenal.
- 1:38:48I just wanted to reflect that on a bit because it's reflected by your brother, and I'm gonna
- 1:38:52read this out and have a lovely message for you.
- 1:38:55It's such an honor to watch your progression over the past few years, your writing, your
- 1:39:00control, the restraint, the production value.
- 1:39:03Exceptional growth and dedication has come together to create a total magic.
- 1:39:08Shout out to Jason Kate as well.
- 1:39:11I love you so much for supporting my brother and his dreams so completely.
- 1:39:15For those of you who don't know Jason, he doesn't run to the spotlight.
- 1:39:20He steadies the spotlight.
- 1:39:22Love you both.
- 1:39:23God, he's just broke.
- 1:39:25That is true.
- 1:39:26And and and and I I've met Jason.
- 1:39:29And Jason Mhmm.
- 1:39:31Jason would say I'm an acquired taste.
- 1:39:37But when when I see the two the two of them together and we got to spend a a week in in
- 1:39:44Florida together, all three of us, and that was a fun fun experience.
- 1:39:50Jason is so loving and supportive of of Michael, his husband, and the two of them are
- 1:39:56inseparable.
- 1:39:57I you can't have Jason without Michael.
- 1:40:00You can't have Michael without Jason.
- 1:40:02It's just not possible.
- 1:40:04And that's that's what true love is, truly.
- 1:40:09And and I wish the same for everybody else out there.
- 1:40:12Thank you.
- 1:40:13So in your eyes, Michael, what's this song all about?
- 1:40:16So
- 1:40:17I was gonna say the last song I actually wrote to my younger self.
- 1:40:22That was a letter that a song that I wrote to my so that that's how that tied up.
- 1:40:27But okay.
- 1:40:27So in your eyes, literally, I just explained it.
- 1:40:31This literally talks about the first time when I first saw Jason.
- 1:40:36So I you actually asked the right question leading into you asked the right question
- 1:40:42leading into the song.
- 1:40:44So basically, what I just said to you about where I met him and everything, this is it.
- 1:40:49Fantastic.
- 1:40:50Elias, everybody.
- 1:40:51Cadence has joined us just in time to listen to this great track.
- 1:40:55Hello.
- 1:41:04Say hello, just scared to show why.
- 1:41:08What I felt so fast I kept
- 1:41:11talking inside.
- 1:41:13Fragi and stuff then gently let it slide.
- 1:41:17So
- 1:41:43me.
- 1:41:44Have been a clue you solder, you widow, every skies.
- 1:41:51Wait for the world, but it's real in your eyes.
- 1:41:58We built something strong without a single raj.
- 1:42:04Best friends first, no pressure,
- 1:42:07no hush.
- 1:42:08Through every storm, we learn how to bend.
- 1:42:13What start in silence of love in the end, we were just too hard.
- 1:42:20Learning how to trust.
- 1:42:22Now look at
- 1:42:23us, no fear just us.
- 1:43:48Now I see forever when I look in your eyes.
- 1:43:54Confess.
- 1:43:56I don't know what you saw in me, but I'm glad you did.
- 1:44:01So fearful to approach you I'd almost hate.
- 1:44:13See, not every song I write makes you wanna cry and and and go into a deep depression.
- 1:44:19No.
- 1:44:19No.
- 1:44:20That just no.
- 1:44:21That one just had a it has a Nick Jonas feel to it.
- 1:44:24Yeah.
- 1:44:26Like
- 1:44:26that.
- 1:44:27That's the one you could send send over to your partner, like, you know, just like, yeah.
- 1:44:32I it's really good.
- 1:44:33It's really, really good.
- 1:44:35Each day was different, and I wanted to you know, I knew I was writing some heavy stuff,
- 1:44:41and I was writing stuff that couldn't you know, you can't, I'm a broken child.
- 1:44:47You know, you can't do something like that.
- 1:44:49You just can't.
- 1:44:50So I knew that I knew the material was getting heavy, and so I wanted to Hey.
- 1:44:55Look at this.
- 1:44:56Look at this for a compliment.
- 1:44:57Hang on.
- 1:44:57Your brother says getting Ed Sheeran vibes.
- 1:45:00Yay.
- 1:45:00How are doing?
- 1:45:01That's what Jay and Jason
- 1:45:04Yeah. Helped
- 1:45:04Helped
- 1:45:04Jason helped me with that because I'm like, I want this kind of I don't want a lot.
- 1:45:10I I want it just to be kind of a feel good, not, you know, Caribbean kind of feel, but just
- 1:45:18kind of a yeah.
- 1:45:20Island.
- 1:45:21And and we we put something together, I think, that was really fun and still was authentic.
- 1:45:27I mean, it tells an honest to goodness story about what but there you go.
- 1:45:33I love it, Michael.
- 1:45:34That's great.
- 1:45:35Thank you.
- 1:45:36Okay.
- 1:45:36Unbroken in your lie.
- 1:45:38Let's go for track number 11.
- 1:45:40Okay.
- 1:45:41So this song is a really, really personal song, and there are little key lines in all the songs
- 1:45:48that connect to the title of the like, standing through the storm, it says, stand here
- 1:45:52unbroken.
- 1:45:53I throw I've have thrown little lines and broken lines here and there, to tie the album
- 1:46:00together.
- 1:46:01This song is literally me honestly saying, yes.
- 1:46:07I've acknowledged who I am, what I've gone through, how it shaped me, how it's molded me.
- 1:46:16But then I looked at it from how does that affect my relationship with other people,
- 1:46:22especially with someone as important to me as my husband.
- 1:46:27Like, because he has to deal with you know, there are times that, you know, I I don't know
- 1:46:34how he hasn't hit me over the head with a shovel and said, Just because I can be
- 1:46:42incredibly mercurial well, stubborn.
- 1:46:47Yeah.
- 1:46:47But it's very material.
- 1:46:49Stubborn, never.
- 1:46:51Yeah.
- 1:46:51No.
- 1:46:52Don't believe that.
- 1:46:53But this song just kind of says that a thank you for him standing by me while I was going
- 1:47:06through all the issues that were coming up or that I had hidden or tried to press down that
- 1:47:14were starting to rise.
- 1:47:16And so this is kind of, yeah, that kind of song.
- 1:47:19It's an emotional song.
- 1:47:21Be prepared.
- 1:47:22Okay.
- 1:47:23Get your tissues out, everyone.
- 1:47:24This is gonna be another tearjerker.
- 1:47:26I'm poking in your light.
- 1:47:41I came with cracks I've tried to hide,
- 1:47:49carrying pieces of the life I never asked for, pieces that still wake me up some nights.
- 1:48:02I've been stubborn when I should have been soft, closed off when I should have let in.
- 1:48:12But you've stayed even when my storms rolled through.
- 1:48:19You've held my hand and called me home again.
- 1:48:27True healing from the past means not leaning on it like an excuse.
- 1:49:47Ceasing even when the world thought I was a fool.
- 1:49:59And you never made me feel too much, never made me feel like I had to change.
- 1:50:08You just stand there steady and sure while I learn how to give my love without shame.
- 1:50:24True healing from the past means not leaning on it like an excuse.
- 1:50:36It's standing here Every day's a win because you're still here believing in me again.
- 1:51:04Thank you for loving me.
- 1:51:08Through We're
- 1:51:19to
- 1:51:37And every time I start to doubt myself, you remind me what forever really means.
- 1:51:52True healing from the past means looking forward more than I look behind.
- 1:52:29I've got your trust.
- 1:52:33Thank you for loving me through the dark and the light.
- 1:52:40Come me yours
- 1:53:07Awesome.
- 1:53:08Awesome.
- 1:53:09Awesome.
- 1:53:09I love a tearjerker.
- 1:53:12Will you stop it?
- 1:53:13I know.
- 1:53:14Sorry.
- 1:53:16What?
- 1:53:17I said just I'm like, dude, just
- 1:53:20Just stop it.
- 1:53:21Michael, just stop it.
- 1:53:22Seriously.
- 1:53:24I'm entering this album in the Josies.
- 1:53:27You should.
- 1:53:27This this is gonna have everybody crying in the Josies.
- 1:53:31I'll tell you.
- 1:53:33You should also put it into the Hollywood independent artists.
- 1:53:38And ISSA.
- 1:53:39Yeah.
- 1:53:40I'm I'm going to do everything I can to try to really push out.
- 1:53:44I'm proud of this, not because I think I'm phenomenal, but I just feel like It's this
- 1:53:50album has the real potential to go through and hit people where they Yeah.
- 1:53:57Where they live and and inspire or touch or make them feel like it's it's okay.
- 1:54:04We we all kind of you know, all have all have gone through hell.
- 1:54:08All of us have secret battles or secret things that they they're trying to deal with that, you
- 1:54:14know, they don't want other people to know, but they just want to feel that they're not by
- 1:54:19themselves.
- 1:54:20So that's kinda where I'm at.
- 1:54:22So there you go.
- 1:54:23It's very true.
- 1:54:24I think you I think, you know, even if you don't get them, then nominated for it, it's
- 1:54:32that's not what matters.
- 1:54:33What matters is that people will listen to the songs and hear the message.
- 1:54:38Yeah.
- 1:54:38Amen to that.
- 1:54:39I agree.
- 1:54:40But I won awards.
- 1:54:42Won awards.
- 1:54:44Who doesn't want awards?
- 1:54:47Does I get an award for biggest fan?
- 1:54:50Biggest what?
- 1:54:51Exactly.
- 1:54:51Biggest fan.
- 1:54:53Yeah.
- 1:54:54Maybe?
- 1:54:54All good, though.
- 1:54:55I mean, because I've been there since I've been there for you since beginning.
- 1:54:59So, you know, just saying.
- 1:55:01I'm just saying.
- 1:55:02Do know?
- 1:55:02We did.
- 1:55:03We just want a bit of a pin badge on each other.
- 1:55:05You know?
- 1:55:06Kaiden, you know, we have got a job between all of us to get this amazing album out, and it is
- 1:55:13not gonna be hard to push.
- 1:55:14It really isn't, Michael.
- 1:55:16You have got nothing to worry about.
- 1:55:18We've got literally probably, like, three or four more great tracks to come from the album,
- 1:55:23but, you know, we've got no worries on this album.
- 1:55:26And everybody has been saying tonight with certain tracks, they've got certain tracks that
- 1:55:31have really hit them hard.
- 1:55:33You know, Tissue's ready.
- 1:55:34You've had people in tears.
- 1:55:35You've had loves everywhere.
- 1:55:37You've had people, like, resonating with all of the words.
- 1:55:41You are a great songwriter.
- 1:55:43You know, the amount of times you've told me, you know, I'm not a songwriter, you know, and
- 1:55:47all this.
- 1:55:48Whatever.
- 1:55:50You know, these are absolutely phenomenal lyrics that you are putting in every single one
- 1:55:55of these songs today.
- 1:55:57I have really are.
- 1:55:58I have finally gotten to the point where I say you know, I always felt like I could write
- 1:56:04lyrics, but I just never really felt like I was a songwriter songwriter, and we'll make waves
- 1:56:11that truly matter.
- 1:56:12Oh my gosh.
- 1:56:13Thank you, Jeffrey.
- 1:56:18Bobby is in the background.
- 1:56:20He's having some problems tonight, but he wishes you all the very best.
- 1:56:24Okay, Marshall?
- 1:56:24He's just really busy.
- 1:56:26I like the fact that his messages pop up on Facebook while we were reading it.
- 1:56:31Perfect.
- 1:56:32Yeah.
- 1:56:32We can find out what you're saying.
- 1:56:34We'll watch what you're up to.
- 1:56:35You know?
- 1:56:36So bless you.
- 1:56:37Bless you, Bubba.
- 1:56:38We know our heart is with you.
- 1:56:39We hope that you can join us sometime before we go.
- 1:56:42But if you can't, we know that you are in body and mind and spirit for Michael and support him
- 1:56:47in an end of his endeavors, especially being a brand new host on the unsigned spotlight.
- 1:56:54And it's the end of the week.
- 1:56:55It's Friday, Friday, Friday.
- 1:56:57And what a great show this is becoming.
- 1:56:59We are now two hours into your amazing party.
- 1:57:03And You're welcome.
- 1:57:05You're Michael.
- 1:57:05Your music, Michael.
- 1:57:08Oh,
- 1:57:08love your music.
- 1:57:11It's a
- 1:57:11full house.
- 1:57:12It is a full house, Bubba.
- 1:57:14We have had a full house.
- 1:57:15We've had so many great guests, and we've also had so many great comments.
- 1:57:18It's been really hard as a producer to try and keep up with everything what's going on.
- 1:57:22Anyway, we are on the next track, which is let me go.
- 1:57:28No apologies.
- 1:57:29Okay.
- 1:57:31Alright.
- 1:57:32I love this song because I this was my moment to say Yeah.
- 1:57:42I'm here.
- 1:57:45I'm doing it.
- 1:57:47I'm making I don't give a Yeah.
- 1:57:51Give a shit.
- 1:57:51I I give a shit.
- 1:57:53About what you talk about, what you tried to sow, what you're trying to do if you're if you
- 1:58:02know what?
- 1:58:03I don't have time for you.
- 1:58:05And and, obviously, if you're this much obsessed with what I'm doing with my career,
- 1:58:12bitch or a fan, whether you did it or not.
- 1:58:15So
- 1:58:15Amen to that.
- 1:58:16So Amen.
- 1:58:18And, you know, every album should have one of these songs on.
- 1:58:21And this this is my this is my this is my I'm here.
- 1:58:25This is what I do, and I'm I'm establishing my community, my kingdom, my empire with the
- 1:58:33people that I love.
- 1:58:34And if you're not part of that, baby, there's the door.
- 1:58:39See you later.
- 1:58:40So I'll tell you what, there's no apologies about.
- 1:58:42There's no apologies about the fact that Michael's going to every single award show this
- 1:58:46year and taking home all the awards.
- 1:58:47So there's no apologies.
- 1:58:49It's all going to his house.
- 1:58:50No apologies, everyone.
- 1:58:58Okay.
- 1:59:01Alright.
- 1:59:19Spoons, no easy pants.
- 1:59:23So if you don't like it, then kiss my ass.
- 1:59:28Keep your whispers, your doubts, and your games.
- 1:59:33I drown on my with my growing fan.
- 1:59:37Talk all you want, I'll still be here.
- 1:59:42It's obvious I'm what you feel.
- 1:59:47This is my moment, place.
- 2:00:19Don't go down for your end to throw with my empire all on my own.
- 2:00:29You're busy talking with nothing to say.
- 2:00:33I'm busy winning, paving my way.
- 2:00:38Keep your whispers, your doubts, and your games.
- 2:00:42I drown them out with my growing fame.
- 2:00:47Tough go you are, I'll still be here.
- 2:00:52It's obvious I'm what you fear.
- 2:00:57This is my moment, grave years of our soul go by name.
- 2:02:02No apologies.
- 2:02:04I won't bend.
- 2:02:06No fake smiles.
- 2:02:33Down.
- 2:02:34Do you wanna shout?
- 2:02:36Let it bring your best.
- 2:02:39If you can't hang, join all the rest.
- 2:03:04I love it.
- 2:03:05I love it.
- 2:03:06This is one which I was like, oh, that's
- 2:03:09a little 13 song?
- 2:03:11It was a p t thirteen song.
- 2:03:13This is, like, up yours everybody.
- 2:03:15This is by the way, but no one else.
- 2:03:17It's a PG.
- 2:03:18It's PG.
- 2:03:19It's not that.
- 2:03:19I'm yeah.
- 2:03:21You I yeah.
- 2:03:22I guess PG.
- 2:03:23It's PG.
- 2:03:24But, yeah, I just you know, I wanted to do something fun that was poking fun of, you know
- 2:03:31People that are poking fun of you.
- 2:03:33Sitting around.
- 2:03:34And, you know, I hope this song catches on because I think this would be a great number
- 2:03:38for a bunch of drag queens to do.
- 2:03:40That's what I'm saying.
- 2:03:42Because I
- 2:03:43just think I could just see them just like because it
- 2:03:46was see this being a now RuPaul theme RuPaul Drag Race theme.
- 2:03:51Yeah.
- 2:03:51You know?
- 2:03:52So, I mean, it it it's it's but it's true.
- 2:03:56It's like it's so hard for people to achieve their dreams and their goals as it is.
- 2:04:03Why do you wanna be someone that is also another part of that, seriously?
- 2:04:09Eighty's movie.
- 2:04:10Hello.
- 2:04:10What Jeffy's put here is, seriously, eighties movies montage aren't from anyone where the
- 2:04:15hero is getting his shit together and getting ready to dominate.
- 2:04:19Totally agree.
- 2:04:20I love this the I love the different styles of music that you hear in this song.
- 2:04:26It started off and I wanted it.
- 2:04:28I I wanted it to be something where people felt like they knew where it was gonna go because it
- 2:04:36was like, okay.
- 2:04:37This is kind of, oh, okay.
- 2:04:39And then
- 2:04:39It started out to me as it sounded like a smooth jazz song at the beginning.
- 2:04:43It was.
- 2:04:44Okay.
- 2:04:44Cool.
- 2:04:44And then just surprised you.
- 2:04:46It musically surprised you, and I like I like that.
- 2:04:50And I I yes.
- 2:04:52I and that was completely intentional.
- 2:04:55George Michael meets Sam Smith says you bother.
- 2:04:58Oh, goddamn.
- 2:05:00My.
- 2:05:01That's a great reference for sure.
- 2:05:03Alright.
- 2:05:04And Jeffrey says this is going on his workout playlist.
- 2:05:13Love it.
- 2:05:14Yeah.
- 2:05:15Love it.
- 2:05:15What what did papa say?
- 2:05:16He said it made me feel like I was in my with the top down.
- 2:05:20I didn't know what?
- 2:05:21I'm going to buy some cocaine.
- 2:05:23Papa.
- 2:05:27I love you, mama.
- 2:05:30Now we know now we know where all the show's money's going.
- 2:05:33Mean, it's going on in the barbers.
- 2:05:34Oh my god.
- 2:05:34Ferrari.
- 2:05:36Well, I mean, how expensive is Ferrari.
- 2:05:41Oh my god.
- 2:05:42Okay.
- 2:05:43That could be the joke of the day.
- 2:05:45It could definitely.
- 2:05:46Okay.
- 2:05:47So we are nearly towards the end of this fantastic album, penultimate song.
- 2:05:53This is I Look Within.
- 2:05:55Tell us about this one.
- 2:05:56Okay.
- 2:05:57So a lot of people don't know.
- 2:05:58I come from a really very diverse background.
- 2:06:03Not only theater and musicals shaped a lot of who I am.
- 2:06:11I I spent a long time doing strictly gospel music.
- 2:06:19I started off singing only gospel and did concerts across the country, was on TV,
- 2:06:26national TV, international TV singing gospel music.
- 2:06:31And one thing led to another, and, obviously, not every church agrees with who I am or what I
- 2:06:41am or whatever.
- 2:06:42And I I can't deny who I am for the sake of being welcome, but my faith has always been
- 2:06:51something that's very important to me.
- 2:06:53And I'm not an overly religious person.
- 2:06:56I don't stick it down people's throats, and I think that nobody has the full answer anyway.
- 2:07:02But, you know, if you're on a highway drive and you have a destination you're going to, if you
- 2:07:09take a different road to get there, then that's that's cool for you.
- 2:07:13So but this song is just kind of a reflection on part of part of my life that I still have.
- 2:07:26I just don't express it as much because it's just it it invites too many criticisms and too
- 2:07:35many questions that I just I don't wanna have to deal with.
- 2:07:39My faith is my faith.
- 2:07:40Your faith is your faith, if you have it.
- 2:07:42If you don't, that's totally cool too.
- 2:07:44That's how you live.
- 2:07:46I I just think that everybody just needs to respect everybody's ability to decide for
- 2:07:51themselves what's the best for them, and the song kind of expresses that.
- 2:07:56And it's a it's a lean into my my roots of doing gospel music.
- 2:08:05Fantastic.
- 2:08:06I look within everybody.
- 2:08:28Lonely cheesed and misunderstood.
- 2:08:33But in the depths of despair, I found my knees on my
- 2:08:39foot, lost and weary, seeking something more.
- 2:08:47I look within from where I've been.
- 2:08:53With every breath, your mercy draws me in.
- 2:09:00Lord, guide me through the darkest night by your past and find you lift me up.
- 2:09:09You heal my with their rebellion, your mercy draws me in.
- 2:10:12Lord, guide me through the longest night by your past and then by you lift me up.
- 2:10:21You hear my end in pain.
- 2:10:24In the depths of my soul, your love remains.
- 2:10:33From the depths of despair, you raised me wide.
- 2:10:39You broke my chains, and you tore me to plight.
- 2:10:46You'd changed my heart, gave me peace and rest in your presence.
- 2:10:52My soul is blessed.
- 2:11:15In your plan?
- 2:11:17I leave my past behind in your province, true freedom might find.
- 2:11:27Through thou lives alone, through longest night by your passing and by you let me up.
- 2:12:02You yield my in in the depth of my soul, your love remains.
- 2:12:13I love within from where I've with every breath, your mercy draws me in.
- 2:13:02Believing.
- 2:13:11Hands up within from where I've been with every breath your mercy draws me in.
- 2:13:24Lord, guide me through the loneliest night By your power, I stand in fine.
- 2:13:31You lift me up.
- 2:13:33You heal back in in pain.
- 2:13:37In the depths of my soul, your
- 2:14:31Okay, mister Longnote.
- 2:14:34Yeah.
- 2:14:34Listen, I I tell you what, those notes, how do you hold them seriously?
- 2:14:39Welcome back.
- 2:14:40Welcome back, mister JP Cage.
- 2:14:41How are you, mister?
- 2:14:43I have to give I have to give credit.
- 2:14:45I I arranged that song except for some of the syncopated drums, which was all JP.
- 2:14:54He's like, we're
- 2:14:54going Awesome.
- 2:14:55He's like he he like we need to have that kind of and I'm like, wow.
- 2:15:02Okay.
- 2:15:03Oh, thank you.
- 2:15:04Oh, our sponsor, Purity
- 2:15:05Z too.
- 2:15:07We love you.
- 2:15:08Thank you so much.
- 2:15:10Thank you.
- 2:15:11Oh, that makes me so lucky.

- 2:15:48a straight up gospel song.
- 2:15:51People gotta break their necks from ruthless.
- 2:15:53The song was called no apologies.

- 2:16:22The album is something to be incredibly proud of.
- 2:16:25Absolutely.
- 2:16:25Inspirational, full of heart.
- 2:16:28Thanks, Jeffrey.

- 2:16:39Oh, no.
- 2:16:39I was just gonna say we were you know, it it took us a long time to put together, but I'm
- 2:16:44proud of it.
- 2:16:45It's you know?
- 2:16:47It's a
- 2:16:47it's the
- 2:16:49It's phenomenal.
- 2:16:50I'm anxious to hear the last song.
- 2:16:53It it's it's the culmination of a lot of years of torture.
- 2:17:00Oh, that
- 2:17:02explains a lot.
- 2:17:03Which one?
- 2:17:05One?
- 2:17:05All of them.
- 2:17:06The whole album is just
- 2:17:08No.
- 2:17:09I mean,
- 2:17:09I You gotta live life.
- 2:17:11There were times that it was very hard to sing, and we had to do take after take just because,
- 2:17:15emotionally, just singing the words was emotional.
- 2:17:20And then hearing it in playback was like, oh my god.
- 2:17:23Yeah.
- 2:17:23This and then I'm I kept saying, yeah.
- 2:17:27That's good.
- 2:17:28We're done.
- 2:17:28And then I listened to it, and I can we redo this again?
- 2:17:31And he just was going crazy.
- 2:17:33And he's like finally, said, we have to agree that if we do too much to it, it's going to
- 2:17:40ruin because you're just gonna have and so, yeah, it was there was
- 2:17:45some everything for everybody.
- 2:17:47It really has.
- 2:17:48This whole album has got if you want to cry, you're gonna cry.
- 2:17:51If you're gonna want to send something to your loved one, you're gonna send it to your loved
- 2:17:55one.
- 2:17:56If you want something to, like, really bond the family together, it's it's got everything.
- 2:18:00It really has.
- 2:18:01It's had me having a foot tap as well, you know, and really enjoying some dancing songs.
- 2:18:06You know?
- 2:18:06It's got something for everybody, this album, and I think everybody's gonna absolutely love
- 2:18:11it.
- 2:18:12And the awards are gonna flood with this one, Michael.
- 2:18:15They really are.
- 2:18:16You know, they already look.
- 2:18:17You know, you think how we've started this year off already.
- 2:18:21You know, the fact that the songwriting awards are already coming in.
- 2:18:25You know, you've already had your first songwriting awards.
- 2:18:28You've got a brand new show that has been given to you as well, and we are only in February.
- 2:18:33Now if this album's got anything to go by, this year is gonna be a phenomenal year.
- 2:18:38And I know we're planning a lot for you in terms of going out on tour with this album, you
- 2:18:44know, getting this album out to radios.

- 2:18:52because it is released today, and we want it on every single major radio station out there.
- 2:18:58It's And gonna take a lot a big effort from all of us to get that as a cost everywhere around
- 2:19:03the world, and we'll do as hard as we can to get it from The US to The UK to Australia.
- 2:19:08Yeah.
- 2:19:09I'm and I'm so honored that everybody has taken time to to message and and, you know, come in
- 2:19:17and and support.
- 2:19:18And, look, my my phone is blowing up with people congratulating.
- 2:19:24I'm just I'm just
- 2:19:25Not just because of Facebook.
- 2:19:27No.
- 2:19:28It's been on Facebook and YouTube as well.
- 2:19:31And if you've missed tonight's show, the two and a half hours of tonight's show, it is on a
- 2:19:37replay on YouTube.
- 2:19:39Head over to the scenes project into Phoenix, right, and you can catch it all again in bits.
- 2:19:44And you can catch the emotional story of Michael's album.
- 2:19:47And every single one of the songs, he gives us a great insight into why he has produced each
- 2:19:54and every one of these songs for you.
- 2:19:56We have got to the end of the night, everybody.
- 2:19:59We've got one more song.
- 2:20:00How do you get to dream my life in the very last song on your
- 2:20:05what is it?
- 2:20:06Okay.
- 2:20:06So this is this is kinda cool.
- 2:20:10I have always believed in making the last song the most vulnerable and stripped down without a
- 2:20:22lot of big production.
- 2:20:24Oh, because I just think you've gone on this journey with me.
- 2:20:27Now I just wanna talk to you like this.
- 2:20:30You've heard me hit big notes, or you've heard me have fun, or you've heard me you know, I
- 2:20:35just want I always like closing, and I do the same thing with the shows that I'm in.
- 2:20:41I I close with something that's very, very intimate.
- 2:20:45And Jason and I collaborated on this.
- 2:20:50This is a I I wrote and did I wrote all the songs on the album and did all the the music
- 2:20:58and pretty much 99.9% of the arrangements.
- 2:21:04But this song was written by Jason.
- 2:21:10Yep.
- 2:21:10He presented it to me because we had talked about and this song is hard.
- 2:21:27You're okay, buddy.
- 2:21:28It's been a very emotional emotional night.
- 2:21:30There's some emotional
- 2:21:31tragedy, but we'll guide
- 2:21:32you.
- 2:21:32We love you.
- 2:21:33This song is really a song of dedication when you need somebody there and you're going
- 2:21:48through a really tough time, whether you know, as I view it as
- 2:21:55a
- 2:21:55song that you would do, that you would sing to someone that was in their last days or in their
- 2:22:04last hours.
- 2:22:06And
- 2:22:08I don't know originally if that's what Jason's plan was, but we had talked about writing a
- 2:22:16lullaby for for someone to sing to someone.
- 2:22:21And I took it as, artistically, as something that I would sing if I was facing, you know,
- 2:22:36the last few hours with someone that I loved.
- 2:22:40And it's not a perfect recording because there's a lot of emotion in it, and it's even
- 2:22:48hard for me to listen to, but it's a beautiful song.
- 2:22:51And this is one of the songs and this you don't even know this, Adrian.
- 2:22:55This is one of the songs that will be on the soundtrack to colors of the sun.
- 2:23:01Oh, wow.
- 2:23:02So this song not only is on this album, but will be on the colors of the sound colors of
- 2:23:09the sun soundtrack.
- 2:23:10And when you understand the story of the movie, you'll understand how this fits.
- 2:23:16Interesting.
- 2:23:17We are so looking forward to that.
- 2:23:18This this is
- 2:23:19this is a really I I don't know if I'll get through listening to it, but I think it's it's
- 2:23:29my voice in its purest form without a lot of embellishments and runs and and that kind of
- 2:23:36thing.
- 2:23:36It just is a very stripped down, gorgeous song.
- 2:23:40I am really proud of the song.
- 2:23:41And here we go.
- 2:23:46Fantastic.
- 2:23:47Right.
