- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Welcome to the Create Love, Create Freedom Podcast.
- 0:06SPEAKER_00: This podcast explores feminine psychology, embodiment, sovereignty, relationships, archetypes, and conscious womanhood in a post-spectacle world.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: My name is Alison Fisher, and my work centers on internal authority and relational clarity across the seasons of a woman's life.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: As you listen, there's nothing that you need to force here.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: We're simply noticing what's already present within ourselves and allowing things to become clearer over time.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: On our last episode, we discussed the Shadow Empress, specifically and collapse, the collapse of civilization and society.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: Today we are going to continue our discussion on the Shadow Empress and specifically look at sovereignty.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: We are discussing a difficult truth today, a liberating truth, and for many women, a heartbreaking truth.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: And that truth, when it comes to the shadow empress and sovereignty, is that no one is coming.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: No one is coming to rescue us.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: Not because the world is cruel, not because love doesn't exist, not because partnership isn't valuable, but because there comes a point in psychological adulthood and womanhood when we realize that no person, no institution, no government, no relationship, no parent, and no external authority can ultimately carry the responsibility of our lives for us.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: Much of our lives, consciously or unconsciously, we often live inside some version of the rescue fantasy.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: We imagine that eventually someone will arrive.
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: The perfect relationship, the perfect mentor, the perfect opportunity, the perfect financial breakthrough, the perfect circumstance that finally allows us to become who we were meant to be.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: And yet, for most of us, life unfolds very differently.
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: The relationship may come and go, the mentor may disappoint us, the institution may fail us, the economy may shift beneath our feet, the certainty we were waiting for never fully arrives.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: And eventually we find ourselves standing alone in a place we never expected to be, not abandoned, not even defeated, but confronted with reality, the reality that our lives belong to us.
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: I think this is one of the great initiations of adulthood, not biological adulthood, not legal adulthood, psychological adulthood.
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: The moment when we stop asking who is going to save me?
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: And begin asking what am I capable of building?
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: The moment when we stop looking outward for authority and begin cultivating authority within ourselves.
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: This is where the shadow empress emerges.
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: And I want to be clear about something.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: The shadow empress is not simply a powerful woman.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: She is not a woman who dominates, she is not a woman who controls.
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: She is not a woman who never needs anyone.
- 4:07SPEAKER_00: In fact, some of the most sovereign women I know are deeply relational women.
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: They love deeply, they connect deeply, they value community, friendship, partnership, and devotion.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: But they have crossed a threshold.
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: They have stopped outsourcing responsibility for their lives.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: They have stopped waiting for permission.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: They have stopped waiting for certainty.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: And they have stopped waiting for someone else to carry the weight of becoming who they are.
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: Because sovereignty has a cost.
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: Freedom, true freedom has a cost.
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: Self governance has a cost.
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: Modern culture spends a great deal of time talking about freedom, but very little time talking about the burden that freedom creates, because every increase in freedom is also an increase in responsibility.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: Every increase in autonomy is an increase in uncertainty.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: Every increase in self determination is an increase in accountability.
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: The woman who governs her own life eventually discovers that freedom is not weightlessness.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: Freedom is weight.
- 5:37SPEAKER_00: Freedom is stewardship.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: Freedom is responsibility.
- 5:43SPEAKER_00: And the shadow empress is the woman who learns how to carry that weight with dignity, not perfectly, not without fear, not without moments of exhaustion, but consciously.
- 5:58SPEAKER_00: Today I want to explore what happens when a woman stops waiting to be rescued and begins governing herself, the loneliness that can emerge, the strength that develops, the grief that often accompanies it, and ultimately the profound freedom that becomes available when your life is no longer dependent on external authority.
- 6:29SPEAKER_00: Because the truth is no one is coming.
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: And strangely enough, that realization may be the very thing that sets you free.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: First, on today's episode, I would like to discuss the death of the rescue fantasy and why sovereign women eventually stop waiting.
- 6:57SPEAKER_00: One of the most important transitions a woman can make is the transition from waiting to building.
- 7:05SPEAKER_00: And yet, for many of us, that transition can take years, sometimes decades.
- 7:12SPEAKER_00: Not because we are weak, not because we lack intelligence, but because the rescue fantasy is woven deeply into the culture around us.
- 7:24SPEAKER_00: Most of us are raised on stories of arrival, stories where someone else appears and changes everything.
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: The prince arrives, the mentor arrives, the opportunity emerges, the perfect relationship finally materializes.
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: The successful self somehow arrives and solves today's problems.
- 7:47SPEAKER_00: We are taught to anticipate transformation as something that happens to us rather than something we consciously participate in creating.
- 7:59SPEAKER_00: And this doesn't only happen in romance.
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: In fact, I think many women have already outgrown romantic rescue fantasies while still carrying rescue fantasies in other areas of life, waiting for confidence before taking action, waiting for certainty before making a decision, waiting for permission before claiming authority, waiting for external validation before trusting their own instincts, waiting for circumstances to improve before becoming who they already know they are.
- 8:41SPEAKER_00: At some point, though, reality begins to challenge these assumptions.
- 8:47SPEAKER_00: Life has a way of dismantling illusions.
- 8:51SPEAKER_00: For some women, this happens through heartbreak.
- 8:54SPEAKER_00: For others, it happens through financial hardship.
- 8:58SPEAKER_00: Sometimes it comes through betrayal, through divorce, through illness, through watching institutions fail, through discovering that the people they trusted are just as human and flawed as they are.
- 9:14SPEAKER_00: Life eventually reveals something that many of us spend years trying not to see.
- 9:20SPEAKER_00: No one is coming to live your life for you.
- 9:24SPEAKER_00: And while that realization can feel devastatingly, can feel devastating initially, it is often the beginning of genuine freedom.
- 9:38SPEAKER_00: Because as long as we are waiting for rescue, we remain psychologically dependent on forces outside of ourselves.
- 9:48SPEAKER_00: Our future remains conditional.
- 9:50SPEAKER_00: Our growth remains conditional.
- 9:53SPEAKER_00: Our happiness remains conditional.
- 9:56SPEAKER_00: Our sense of power remains conditional.
- 10:00SPEAKER_00: Everything becomes dependent on something arriving, something changing, someone choosing us, someone recognizing us, someone granting us permission.
- 10:15SPEAKER_00: But sovereignty begins the moment we stop negotiating with the future.
- 10:21SPEAKER_00: The moment we stop saying I'll become who I am when, and instead begin saying I will become who I am now.
- 10:33SPEAKER_00: This is where the shadow empress is born.
- 10:36SPEAKER_00: Not through triumph, not through certainty, but through disillusionment.
- 10:42SPEAKER_00: And I think that this is one of the most misunderstood aspects of feminine maturity.
- 10:49SPEAKER_00: Many people imagine powerful women were always confident, that they always knew what they were doing, that they naturally trusted themselves.
- 11:01SPEAKER_00: But often the opposite is true.
- 11:05SPEAKER_00: Many sovereign women, including myself, were forged through disappointment.
- 11:11SPEAKER_00: They learned self-trust because something they trusted collapsed.
- 11:16SPEAKER_00: They learned discernment because they were deceived.
- 11:20SPEAKER_00: They learned self-reliance because support disappeared.
- 11:25SPEAKER_00: They learned resilience because there was no alternative.
- 11:30SPEAKER_00: The woman who governs herself is often a woman who has been initiated by reality.
- 11:38SPEAKER_00: Reality stripped away the fantasy.
- 11:41SPEAKER_00: Reality removed the illusion.
- 11:44SPEAKER_00: Reality asked her a difficult question.
- 11:49SPEAKER_00: Who are you when there is no one left to hand you your authority?
- 11:56SPEAKER_00: Or left to hand your authority to.
- 12:00SPEAKER_00: That question changes everything.
- 12:04SPEAKER_00: Because eventually a woman realizes that waiting itself has become a form of self abandonment, waiting to be chosen, waiting to be discovered, waiting to be saved, waiting to be validated, waiting to be certain, and waiting to begin.
- 12:28SPEAKER_00: Years pass this way, entire lives pass this way.
- 12:33SPEAKER_00: And then one day something shifts.
- 12:37SPEAKER_00: She realizes that no future circumstance can grant her permission she has not already granted herself.
- 12:46SPEAKER_00: No relationship can create self respect.
- 12:49SPEAKER_00: No title can create self worth.
- 12:52SPEAKER_00: No institution can create self trust.
- 12:57SPEAKER_00: Those things must be built internally.
- 13:01SPEAKER_00: The shadow empress understands this.
- 13:04SPEAKER_00: She understands that freedom is not found through rescue.
- 13:10SPEAKER_00: Freedom is found through responsibility, taking full responsibility for her life.
- 13:18SPEAKER_00: And so she stops waiting, not because she no longer desires partnership, not because she no longer values support, not because she has become hardened or isolated, but because she finally understands that the foundation of her life cannot be outsourced.
- 13:39SPEAKER_00: It must be governed from within.
- 13:42SPEAKER_00: And from that place, something remarkable begins to happen.
- 13:47SPEAKER_00: Her energy returns, her creativity returns, her agency returns.
- 13:54SPEAKER_00: Because all of the energy once invested in waiting becomes available for building.
- 14:02SPEAKER_00: Building a life, building a future, building capacity, building wisdom, and building trust in herself.
- 14:11SPEAKER_00: And perhaps that is the true death of the rescue fantasy, not becoming independent of others, but becoming unwilling to abandon yourself while waiting for someone else to arrive.
- 14:29SPEAKER_00: Next, we're going to examine how freedom is structurally demanding and why sovereignty requires nervous system capacity.
- 14:42SPEAKER_00: One of the greatest misconceptions about freedom is that it feels light.
- 14:49SPEAKER_00: We imagine freedom as the absence of constraints, the absence of obligation, the absence of responsibility, the ability to do whatever we want when we want.
- 15:02SPEAKER_00: Real freedom feels very different.
- 15:05SPEAKER_00: In many ways, real freedom feels heavier.
- 15:09SPEAKER_00: Because freedom is not the removal of responsibility, it is the transfer of responsibility.
- 15:16SPEAKER_00: The responsibility simply moves from external structures into your own hands.
- 15:23SPEAKER_00: This is why sovereignty requires something many people never talk about, and that is nervous system capacity.
- 15:32SPEAKER_00: Because the question is not simply whether you desire freedom.
- 15:36SPEAKER_00: The question is whether your nervous system can hold it.
- 15:41SPEAKER_00: Can you tolerate uncertainty?
- 15:43SPEAKER_00: Can you tolerate ambiguity?
- 15:46SPEAKER_00: Can you tolerate making decisions without guaranteed income?
- 15:52SPEAKER_00: Outcomes.
- 15:54SPEAKER_00: Can you tolerate responsibility without collapsing into anxiety?
- 16:01SPEAKER_00: These are the real questions of sovereignty, because every self-governing life contains uncertainty.
- 16:09SPEAKER_00: There is no authority figure standing above you with all the answers.
- 16:14SPEAKER_00: There's no perfect roadmap, there is no guarantee.
- 16:18SPEAKER_00: There is simply reality, discernment, and the next decision.
- 16:24SPEAKER_00: This is true whether we're talking about business, relationships, finances, parenting, leadership, or personal growth.
- 16:35SPEAKER_00: The sovereign woman eventually realizes that certainty is not available, only responsibility is.
- 16:43SPEAKER_00: And that realization can be deeply uncomfortable, especially for those of us who are taught to associate safety with predictability.
- 16:54SPEAKER_00: Many people spend their entire lives attempting to eliminate uncertainty.
- 17:00SPEAKER_00: The problem is that uncertainty is woven into reality itself.
- 17:06SPEAKER_00: You cannot eliminate it.
- 17:08SPEAKER_00: You can only increase your capacity to hold it.
- 17:12SPEAKER_00: And this is where nervous system development becomes essential.
- 17:17SPEAKER_00: Because freedom is not merely a philosophical concept, it is a physiological experience.
- 17:26SPEAKER_00: The body experiences uncertainty before the mind interprets it.
- 17:32SPEAKER_00: The body experiences risk before the intellect rationalizes it.
- 17:38SPEAKER_00: The body experiences responsibility before the ego creates a story about it.
- 17:45SPEAKER_00: This is why two people can face the exact same circumstance and respond completely differently.
- 17:53SPEAKER_00: One collapses, one adapts.
- 17:56SPEAKER_00: One spirals, then one stabilizes.
- 18:00SPEAKER_00: The difference is often not intelligence, it is capacity, the ability to remain internally regulated while navigating complexity.
- 18:12SPEAKER_00: The shadow empress understands this intuitively.
- 18:16SPEAKER_00: She understands that self governance requires self regulation.
- 18:22SPEAKER_00: Without self regulation, freedom becomes chaos.
- 18:27SPEAKER_00: Without self regulation, autonomy becomes overwhelm.
- 18:32SPEAKER_00: Without self regulation, opportunity becomes pressure.
- 18:37SPEAKER_00: And without self-regulation, responsibility becomes fear.
- 18:44SPEAKER_00: This is why so many people unconsciously seek structures that remove responsibility from their lives.
- 18:52SPEAKER_00: Not because they are weak, but because responsibility creates psychological discomfort.
- 18:59SPEAKER_00: It requires tolerating uncertainty.
- 19:02SPEAKER_00: It requires making decisions.
- 19:06SPEAKER_00: It requires accepting consequences.
- 19:09SPEAKER_00: And for many people, that feels terrifying.
- 19:13SPEAKER_00: So they author, so they hand authority away, sometimes to institutions, sometimes to relationships, sometimes to ideology, sometimes to social approval, sometimes to experts, and sometimes to collective consensus.
- 19:36SPEAKER_00: They look for someone else to tell them what to think, what to believe, what to choose, and what to do.
- 19:44SPEAKER_00: And while guidance can be valuable, there is a difference between receiving guidance and surrendering authority.
- 19:54SPEAKER_00: The shadow empress understands that distinction.
- 19:57SPEAKER_00: She seeks wisdom, but she retains responsibility.
- 20:02SPEAKER_00: She listens, but she decides.
- 20:05SPEAKER_00: She learns, but she governs.
- 20:09SPEAKER_00: Because she understands something fundamental.
- 20:13SPEAKER_00: No one else will live with the consequences of her decisions more than she will.
- 20:20SPEAKER_00: And that reality changes the way she approaches life.
- 20:24SPEAKER_00: She becomes less reactive, less impulsive, less dependent upon immediate emotional relief.
- 20:33SPEAKER_00: She develops the ability to sit with complexity, to tolerate uncertainty, to delay gratification, to gather information before acting, to remain steady when outcomes remain unclear.
- 20:50SPEAKER_00: This is not glamorous work.
- 20:52SPEAKER_00: In fact, much of sovereignty is profoundly unglamorous.
- 20:58SPEAKER_00: It looks like patience.
- 21:00SPEAKER_00: It looks like discipline.
- 21:02SPEAKER_00: It looks like consistency.
- 21:04SPEAKER_00: It looks like making sound decisions when no one is watching.
- 21:10SPEAKER_00: It looks like regulating fear rather than obeying it.
- 21:15SPEAKER_00: It looks like continuing forward even when certainty never arrives.
- 21:23SPEAKER_00: And perhaps this is one of the most mature realizations a woman can reach.
- 21:28SPEAKER_00: Freedom is not something you achieve once and then possess forever.
- 21:34SPEAKER_00: Freedom is something you continuously sustain through discernment, through responsibility, through emotional maturity, through nervous system capacity.
- 21:48SPEAKER_00: The Shadow Empress does not become sovereign so the life becomes easier.
- 21:54SPEAKER_00: She becomes sovereign because she develops the capacity to remain grounded.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: While carrying the weight of freedom itself.
- 22:04SPEAKER_00: And ultimately, that may be the deepest form of power, not controlling reality, but remaining internally stable while reality unfolds.
- 22:20SPEAKER_00: Let's examine leadership, loneliness, and the quiet burden of responsibility.
- 22:28SPEAKER_00: One of the most unexpected aspects of sovereignty is actually loneliness, not isolation, not abandonment, not disconnection, but a particular kind of loneliness that emerges when you begin taking responsibility for your own life in a deeper way.
- 22:51SPEAKER_00: This is rarely discussed openly.
- 22:54SPEAKER_00: Most conversations about leadership focus on influence, achievement, visibility, or success.
- 23:01SPEAKER_00: Very few conversations address the emotional reality of carrying responsibility.
- 23:09SPEAKER_00: The truth is that every increase in responsibility creates a certain amount of separation.
- 23:17SPEAKER_00: Not because you become better than other people, but because your relationship to reality begins to change.
- 23:25SPEAKER_00: You start seeing things differently.
- 23:27SPEAKER_00: You start making decisions differently.
- 23:31SPEAKER_00: You begin taking ownership of circumstances that others may still blame on external forces.
- 23:39SPEAKER_00: And that shift can feel surprisingly lonely.
- 23:42SPEAKER_00: The shadow empress discovers that self-governance often means standing in places where there are no guarantees, no consensus, no certainty, no applause, just discernment and responsibility.
- 24:01SPEAKER_00: This is especially true for will for women building unconventional lives.
- 24:08SPEAKER_00: Women who choose paths outside of traditional expectations often encounter a unique kind of solitude.
- 24:18SPEAKER_00: Perhaps they are building businesses.
- 24:20SPEAKER_00: Perhaps they are pursuing education a little later in life.
- 24:25SPEAKER_00: Perhaps they are choosing not to marry.
- 24:28SPEAKER_00: Perhaps they are leaving relationships that no longer align.
- 24:32SPEAKER_00: Perhaps they are creating something that does not yet exist.
- 24:37SPEAKER_00: Whatever the circumstance, there are moments when they realize that very few people truly understand what they are carrying.
- 24:47SPEAKER_00: And that realization can feel heavy, because human beings are relational creatures.
- 24:53SPEAKER_00: We are not meant to live entirely alone.
- 24:57SPEAKER_00: We want to be understood.
- 24:59SPEAKER_00: We want our experiences reflected back to us.
- 25:03SPEAKER_00: We want reassurance.
- 25:05SPEAKER_00: We want companionship.
- 25:08SPEAKER_00: And yet leadership often requires making decisions before validation arrives.
- 25:18SPEAKER_00: Sometimes before support arrives, sometimes before anyone else can see what you see.
- 25:26SPEAKER_00: This is one of the hidden burdens of responsibility.
- 25:30SPEAKER_00: You must often act based upon conviction rather than consensus.
- 25:37SPEAKER_00: The Shadow Empress learns this repeatedly.
- 25:41SPEAKER_00: She learns that there will be seasons where her vision extends beyond the understanding of the people around her, not because she is superior, but because growth often creates temporary gaps in perspective.
- 25:57SPEAKER_00: You may outgrow a family narrative.
- 26:00SPEAKER_00: You may outgrow an old identity.
- 26:03SPEAKER_00: You may outgrow a community.
- 26:06SPEAKER_00: You may outgrow a version of yourself.
- 26:09SPEAKER_00: And while growth is often celebrated in theory, in practice, it can feel profoundly lonely, because every transformation requires leaving something behind.
- 26:23SPEAKER_00: Sometimes that something is certainty.
- 26:26SPEAKER_00: Sometimes it is belonging.
- 26:28SPEAKER_00: Sometimes it is an identity that once felt safe.
- 26:34SPEAKER_00: The sovereign woman eventually discovers that responsibility changes the questions she asks.
- 26:41SPEAKER_00: Instead of asking, who's going to fix this?
- 26:45SPEAKER_00: She asks, What is mine to do?
- 26:48SPEAKER_00: Instead of asking, who should I blame?
- 26:51SPEAKER_00: She asks, What am I responsible for?
- 26:55SPEAKER_00: Instead of asking, when will someone make this easier?
- 26:59SPEAKER_00: She asks what does reality require of me right now?
- 27:05SPEAKER_00: These are adult questions.
- 27:08SPEAKER_00: These are leadership questions.
- 27:10SPEAKER_00: And these are stewardship questions.
- 27:14SPEAKER_00: And while they create power, they also carry weight.
- 27:19SPEAKER_00: Because there's no hiding inside them.
- 27:22SPEAKER_00: No outsourcing, no escape hatch, only responsibility.
- 27:28SPEAKER_00: I think this is one of the reasons many sovereign women often feel emotionally older in their chronological age.
- 27:35SPEAKER_00: Not because they've lost their sense of wonder, not because they have become cynical, but because they have spent years carrying responsibility consciously.
- 27:46SPEAKER_00: They have made difficult decisions, they have grieved difficult realities, they have faced consequences.
- 27:54SPEAKER_00: They have learned to keep moving forward when certainty was unavailable.
- 28:00SPEAKER_00: And all of that creates a certain gravity, a certain depth, a certain steadiness, the kind of steadiness that cannot be acquired through theory alone.
- 28:14SPEAKER_00: It can only be learned through experience.
- 28:18SPEAKER_00: Yet there is something important to understand here.
- 28:22SPEAKER_00: Leadership loneliness is not a punishment.
- 28:26SPEAKER_00: It is not evidence that you are doing something wrong.
- 28:30SPEAKER_00: It is often evidence that you are growing.
- 28:34SPEAKER_00: The mistake many women make is assuming that loneliness means they should abandon their path.
- 28:41SPEAKER_00: Return to what is familiar, return to what is comfortable, return to what is approved.
- 28:48SPEAKER_00: But the shadow empress understands that loneliness is sometimes part of the passage, not the destination, the passage.
- 29:01SPEAKER_00: Because eventually something remarkable happens.
- 29:05SPEAKER_00: She begins attracting people who have also accepted responsibility for their lives, people who understand stewardship, people who understand discipline, people who understand vision, people who understand what it means to build rather than wait.
- 29:26SPEAKER_00: And suddenly the loneliness changes.
- 29:29SPEAKER_00: It becomes less about being misunderstood and more about becoming selective, less about searching for belonging and more about recognizing resonance.
- 29:43SPEAKER_00: The Shadow Empress learns that leadership does not require walking alone forever, but it does require the willingness to walk alone for a while, to trust yourself before the evidence appears, to continue building before the validation arrives, to remain devoted to the path before anyone else understands it.
- 30:09SPEAKER_00: Because ultimately, leadership is not about controlling other people, it is about becoming trustworthy enough to carry responsibility.
- 30:20SPEAKER_00: And sometimes the quiet burden of responsibility is also what forges the woman capable of carrying her life with grace, wisdom, and unwavering self-respect.
- 30:37SPEAKER_00: Next, we're going to look at internal authority versus external validation, the woman who stops asking for permission.
- 30:48SPEAKER_00: Perhaps one of the most profound shifts that occurs on the path to sovereignty is the movement from external validation to internal authority.
- 31:01SPEAKER_00: And for many women this is not a simple shift.
- 31:05SPEAKER_00: This is an initiation.
- 31:08SPEAKER_00: Because from the time we are young, most of us are conditioned to look outward before we look inward.
- 31:16SPEAKER_00: We learn to monitor reactions.
- 31:20SPEAKER_00: We learn to assess approval.
- 31:22SPEAKER_00: We learn to adapt ourselves to maintain belonging.
- 31:27SPEAKER_00: We learn to measure ourselves through the eyes of other people.
- 31:32SPEAKER_00: Will they like me?
- 31:34SPEAKER_00: Will they approve?
- 31:35SPEAKER_00: Will they agree?
- 31:37SPEAKER_00: Will they understand?
- 31:39SPEAKER_00: Will they choose me?
- 31:41SPEAKER_00: Will they validate me?
- 31:44SPEAKER_00: For many years these questions operate quietly beneath the surface of our lives.
- 31:49SPEAKER_00: Sometimes we do not even realize they are there, but they influence our decisions nonetheless.
- 31:56SPEAKER_00: They influence our careers, our relationships, our identities, our ambitions, our willingness to speak, our willingness to lead, our willingness to become visible, because external validation feels safe.
- 32:16SPEAKER_00: When people approve of us, we feel anchored.
- 32:20SPEAKER_00: When people agree with us, we feel secure.
- 32:24SPEAKER_00: When people applaud our choices, we feel confident.
- 32:35SPEAKER_00: It changes constantly.
- 32:37SPEAKER_00: People disagree, cultures change, trends change, communities change, relationships change.
- 32:46SPEAKER_00: The approval that exists today may disappear tomorrow.
- 32:52SPEAKER_00: If our identity depends upon external validation, then our stability depends on something we cannot control.
- 33:02SPEAKER_00: And that is a fragile foundation upon which to build a life.
- 33:10SPEAKER_00: The shadow empress eventually discovers this, often through experience, sometimes through disappointment, sometimes through betrayal, sometimes through realizing that even the people who love us cannot always understand us.
- 33:28SPEAKER_00: At first this can feel deeply unsettling, but there is a certain comfort in being told who we are.
- 33:36SPEAKER_00: There is a comfort in consensus, comfort in approval, comfort in belonging.
- 33:44SPEAKER_00: But there comes a point where growth demands something more.
- 33:48SPEAKER_00: Growth demands self-reference.
- 33:51SPEAKER_00: Growth demands internal authority.
- 33:55SPEAKER_00: Internal authority is not the belief that you are always right.
- 34:00SPEAKER_00: It is not stubbornness, it is not arrogance.
- 34:04SPEAKER_00: It is not refusing feedback.
- 34:07SPEAKER_00: Quite the opposite.
- 34:08SPEAKER_00: Internal authority is the ability to listen deeply without abandoning yourself.
- 34:15SPEAKER_00: It is the ability to consider perspectives without surrendering discernment.
- 34:21SPEAKER_00: It is the ability to receive wisdom without outsourcing responsibility.
- 34:26SPEAKER_00: The sovereign woman does not reject guidance.
- 34:30SPEAKER_00: She values guidance.
- 34:32SPEAKER_00: She seeks wisdom.
- 34:34SPEAKER_00: She remains teachable, but she no longer asks other people to decide who she is.
- 34:42SPEAKER_00: She no longer hands over authorship of her life.
- 34:46SPEAKER_00: She listens, she reflects, and then she chooses.
- 34:52SPEAKER_00: This is where many women encounter resistance.
- 34:56SPEAKER_00: Because the moment a woman begins governing herself internally, she often becomes more difficult to control externally.
- 35:06SPEAKER_00: She becomes less vulnerable to manipulation through approval, less vulnerable to shame, less vulnerable to social pressure, less vulnerable to fear of rejection, and that can make people uncomfortable.
- 35:22SPEAKER_00: Not because she has become unkind, not because she has become rigid, but because she is no longer negotiating her identity through the expectations of others.
- 35:39SPEAKER_00: She begins making decisions that originate from conviction rather than compliance.
- 35:46SPEAKER_00: She begins speaking from truth rather than performance.
- 35:51SPEAKER_00: She begins living from alignment rather than approval.
- 35:56SPEAKER_00: And perhaps most importantly, she becomes willing to tolerate misunderstanding, and more specifically, being misunderstood.
- 36:09SPEAKER_00: This is in my opinion one of the greatest markers of psychological maturity, the willingness to be misunderstood.
- 36:17SPEAKER_00: Not because you enjoy conflict, but because you seek not because you seek opposition, but because you understand complete agreement is impossible.
- 36:32SPEAKER_00: No meaningful life can be built entirely around avoiding disapproval.
- 36:39SPEAKER_00: At some point, every woman must choose will I belong to myself or will I belong to the expectations of others?
- 36:50SPEAKER_00: The shadow empress chooses herself again and again, not selfishly, not arrogantly, responsibly, because she understands that a life built upon external validation will always be vulnerable to external control.
- 37:11SPEAKER_00: A life built upon internal authority, however, becomes remarkably stable, not because uncertainty disappears, not because criticism disappears, not because mistakes disappear, but because the center of gravity shifts inward.
- 37:32SPEAKER_00: She no longer requires constant reassurance to move forward.
- 37:37SPEAKER_00: She no longer requires universal approval to trust her instincts.
- 37:44SPEAKER_00: She no longer requires permission to become who she is.
- 37:50SPEAKER_00: And from that place, a different kind of confidence emerges.
- 37:55SPEAKER_00: Not the confidence of performance, not the confidence of superiority, but the quiet confidence of self-trust, the confidence that says, I may not know everything.
- 38:10SPEAKER_00: I may make mistakes, I may have more to learn, but I trust myself to meet reality honestly.
- 38:20SPEAKER_00: I trust myself to learn, I trust myself to adapt, I trust myself to govern my own life.
- 38:29SPEAKER_00: And perhaps that is the deepest power of internal authority.
- 38:34SPEAKER_00: It's not certainty, it is self-trust.
- 38:39SPEAKER_00: The shadow empress does not become sovereign because she controls the world around her.
- 38:45SPEAKER_00: She becomes sovereign because she no longer requires the world around her to tell her who she is.
- 38:55SPEAKER_00: Lastly, we are going to look at psychological adulthood and the return of sacred responsibility, the woman who becomes trustworthy to herself.
- 39:09SPEAKER_00: If there is one quality that defines the shadow empress more than any other, it is responsibility, not control, not perfection, not dominance, responsibility.
- 39:26SPEAKER_00: Because at its core, sovereignty is not about freedom alone.
- 39:32SPEAKER_00: It is what we do with freedom.
- 39:35SPEAKER_00: And that is where psychological adulthood and womanhood begins.
- 39:42SPEAKER_00: I think one of the greatest confusions of modern culture is that adulthood or womanhood is often treated as a chronological event rather than a psychological achievement.
- 39:58SPEAKER_00: We assume adulthood arrives automatically.
- 40:02SPEAKER_00: We reach a certain age, we earn a degree, we pay bills, we buy a house, we build a career, we get married, we have children, we accumulate responsibilities.
- 40:16SPEAKER_00: And yet many people discover that psychological adulthood is something entirely different.
- 40:24SPEAKER_00: Psychological adulthood begins when we stop negotiating with reality, when we stop demanding that life conform to our preferences before we are willing to engage with it, when we stop waiting for ideal circumstances, when we stop insisting that someone else carry the consequences of our choices, when we stop asking reality to become easier and begin asking ourselves to become stronger.
- 40:59SPEAKER_00: This is not a harsh process, at least not in the way that people often imagine.
- 41:07SPEAKER_00: The shadow empress is not driven by self punishment, she is not motivated by shame, and she is not endlessly hynocizing herself into growth.
- 41:18SPEAKER_00: Quite the opposite.
- 41:20SPEAKER_00: Psychological adulthood is often accompanied by greater compassion, greater self awareness, greater patience, but it is also accompanied by honesty because responsibility requires honesty.
- 41:38SPEAKER_00: You cannot govern what you refuse to see.
- 41:43SPEAKER_00: You cannot transform what you refuse to acknowledge.
- 41:49SPEAKER_00: You cannot steward a life you are unwilling to examine.
- 41:56SPEAKER_00: And so the mature woman begins telling herself the truth, the truth about her finances, the truth about her relationships, the truth about her habits, the truth about her desires, the truth about her fears, the truth about her gifts, the truth about the places where she has abandoned herself, and the truth about the places where she has underestimated herself.
- 42:28SPEAKER_00: This willingness to face reality is one of the defining characteristics of psychological adulthood.
- 42:37SPEAKER_00: Children often believe that avoiding reality protects them.
- 42:42SPEAKER_00: Adults eventually learn that avoiding reality amplifies suffering.
- 42:48SPEAKER_00: Reality remains reality whether we acknowledge it or not.
- 42:55SPEAKER_00: The shadow empress understands this, and because she understands it, she becomes increasingly devoted to truth, not comfortable truth, not convenient truth, actual truth, the truth that allows transformation, the truth that allows growth, the truth that creates freedom.
- 43:21SPEAKER_00: Because freedom without truth is fantasy.
- 43:25SPEAKER_00: Freedom without responsibility is chaos.
- 43:29SPEAKER_00: Freedom without stewardship eventually collapses under its own weight.
- 43:35SPEAKER_00: This is why responsibility becomes sacred.
- 43:39SPEAKER_00: And I think this is something our culture often misunderstands.
- 43:44SPEAKER_00: Responsibility is frequently portrayed as a burden, an obligation, a restriction, something imposed on us.
- 43:55SPEAKER_00: But from the perspective of sovereignty, responsibility becomes something.
- 44:00SPEAKER_00: something entirely different.
- 44:02SPEAKER_00: It becomes an expression of devotion, a devotion to reality, a devotion to integrity, a devotion to one's own life.
- 44:14SPEAKER_00: When a woman takes responsibility for her health, he is expressing devotion.
- 44:20SPEAKER_00: When she takes responsibility for her finances, she is expressing devotion.
- 44:26SPEAKER_00: When she takes responsibility for her emotional patterns, she is expressing devotion.
- 44:33SPEAKER_00: When she takes responsibility for her future, she is expressing devotion.
- 44:40SPEAKER_00: Responsibility becomes an act of self respect, an act of stewardship, an act of love.
- 44:50SPEAKER_00: Shadow Empress understands that the quality of her life is shaped less by what happens to her and more by what she consistently tends, what she cultivates, what she nourishes, what she protects, what she is willing to carry consistently, slowly but surely, brick by brick over a lifetime.
- 45:22SPEAKER_00: Because sovereignty is not simply the right to choose.
- 45:27SPEAKER_00: It is the willingness to steward the consequences of those choices.
- 45:33SPEAKER_00: And this is where true power emerges not from control, not from force, but from reliability reliable in her commitments, reliable in her character, reliable in her actions, reliable in her relationship with herself.
- 45:56SPEAKER_00: And perhaps this is one of the most overlooked forms of feminine power the ability to become trustworthy to yourself.
- 46:06SPEAKER_00: To know that when life becomes difficult you will not immediately abandon your values.
- 46:13SPEAKER_00: You will not immediately abandon your vision.
- 46:17SPEAKER_00: You will not immediately abandon your future.
- 46:21SPEAKER_00: You may grieve, you may rest, you may adapt, and you may change, even change direction.
- 46:30SPEAKER_00: But you will remain in relationship with yourself.
- 46:34SPEAKER_00: You will continue showing up.
- 46:36SPEAKER_00: You will continue taking responsibility.
- 46:40SPEAKER_00: You will continue moving forward and over time something remarkable begins to emerge self respect not the self esteem that fluctuates based on success or failure not confidence dependent on outcomes something deeper.
- 47:02SPEAKER_00: Quiet dignity that comes from knowing you can trust yourself, knowing you can tell yourself the truth knowing your face knowing you face reality honestly knowing you take responsibility for your life knowing you are capable of carrying what is yours to carry.
- 47:26SPEAKER_00: This is the return of sacred responsibility the understanding that responsibility is not punishment.
- 47:34SPEAKER_00: It is participation.
- 47:37SPEAKER_00: It is how we consciously engage with our lives it is how we honor our freedom it is how we transform potential into reality.
- 47:48SPEAKER_00: The Shadow Empress understands that freedom and responsibility are not opposites.
- 47:54SPEAKER_00: They are partners one cannot exist meaningfully without the other and ultimately psychological adulthood and womanhood is not about becoming perfect.
- 48:08SPEAKER_00: It is not about having all the answers it is not about mastering every aspect of life it is about becoming the kind of woman who can meet reality with courage who can carry responsibility with grace who can govern herself with wisdom who can be trusted by the one person she must live with every day herself.
- 48:34SPEAKER_00: Because in the end, sovereignty is not the ability to control life it is the ability to stand fully inside your life accept responsibility for it and meet it consciously that is the work of the Shadow Empress.
- 48:55SPEAKER_00: As we close today's conversation I want to return to the idea we began with no one is coming.
- 49:04SPEAKER_00: And while that realization can feel unsettling at the very least at first I believe it is one of the most liberating truths a woman can discover.
- 49:14SPEAKER_00: Because the moment we stop waiting for rescue we reclaim our power not power over others not power through control but the power that comes from recognizing that our lives belong to us.
- 49:31SPEAKER_00: Throughout this episode we've explored the shadow empress as an archetype of self-governance a woman who no longer depends upon external validation to know who she is a woman who develops the capacity to carry uncertainty and a woman who accepts responsibility for her choices, her future and her becoming not because the path is easy not because life is easy because it is hers.
- 50:05SPEAKER_00: And perhaps that is the hidden beauty of sovereignty it asks more of us.
- 50:12SPEAKER_00: It asks us to become stronger more honest more disciplined more discerning.
- 50:19SPEAKER_00: But in return it gives us something extraordinary self-trust the kind of self-trust that cannot be purchased, cannot be inherited cannot be granted by another person.
- 50:34SPEAKER_00: It can only be earned through the experience of showing up for your own life again and again and again Shadow Empress understands that freedom is not the absence of weight.
- 50:49SPEAKER_00: Freedom is the willingness to carry meaningful weight consciously the weight of responsibility the weight of leadership the weight of becoming and yet she carries it differently than she once did not with resentment not with fear but with dignity because she knows that every responsibility willingly accepts is evidence that she is no longer abandoning herself.
- 51:21SPEAKER_00: So if there is one thing I hope you take from today's conversation it is this you do not need to have all the answers.
- 51:30SPEAKER_00: You do not need to feel fearless.
- 51:33SPEAKER_00: You do not need to know exactly how everything will unfold you only need the willingness to keep taking responsibility for what is yours.
- 51:46SPEAKER_00: Not what is someone else's what is yours one decision one boundary one truth one step at a time because sovereignty is not built in a single moment it is built through a thousand small acts of self governance and over time those acts become a life a life that is consciously chosen, consciously stewarded and deeply your own thank you so much for joining me on this episode until next time remember the Shadow Empress is not the woman who waits for permission she is the woman who learns to trust herself enough to lead her own life and that is where true freedom begins.
- 52:45SPEAKER_00: Until next time stay rooted stay sovereign and stay true to your feminine path
