- 0:00What was the first task you accomplished this morning?
- 0:03Did you roll out of bed and start working, taking care of chores,
- 0:08getting ready for the day?
- 0:09Or did you spend time with the one who loves you more than anybody else in the world?
- 0:16This morning, I woke up tired from a busy weekend, but I soldiered on to spend time with our good Lord.
- 0:24The hour or two I like to set aside before doing anything else.
- 0:28I try not to skip these with him, because otherwise my days turn out less than adequate.
- 0:35While my weekend was filled with family cheer and church, the kind that most
- 0:39people envy, my mind kept going back to something someone said.
- 0:44I was insulted with statements that bruised my ego and undermined my work.
- 0:49This morning, I brought it up with our good Lord, and I was reminded what true insult is.
- 0:57The best way to illustrate this is the painting by Matthias Grunewald.
- 1:03It's called The Crucifixion.
- 1:07While this image deserves a series of sermons by my pastor, in this case,
- 1:13God used the image to remind me what true insult means and how one should receive
- 1:18it in order to be aligned with his will.
- 1:21Mind you, I did not feel that God dismissed my plea.
- 1:25Instead, the image underscored the exacerbation of a trivial issue.
- 1:30I felt insulted and was subconsciously holding unforgiveness towards someone,
- 1:36spending time and precious thought cycles on how I can feel better by proving them wrong.
- 1:43Most importantly, I was not seeking guidance and hence missing a valuable lesson.
- 1:51I am expected to forgive. a clear Christian directive.
- 1:57Behave with grace and mercy. Ask God to help me navigate the situation and do what He expects me to do.
- 2:05On my own, I would have searched for zingers and found a way to take my pound of flesh.
- 2:11I am so thankful that I sought the omniscient instead.
- 2:15I would have continued in my unchristian fashion had I not paused for my time with Jesus.
- 2:21He would have had to clean up a bigger mess later. My conclusion for today is this.
- 2:27No matter how tired or sleepy you are, make time for your morning,
- 2:33holy hour, time with Jesus, daily devotional, no matter what you call it.
- 2:38Make time to spend it with Jesus.
- 2:41Praise Him. Pray. Confess. Learn about Him and his wonderful ways.
- 2:47Your day will have a godly turn, and this I can assure you with the highest
- 2:53degree of confidence. Dear God,
- 2:57You made time for me this morning, you, you who runs the world and keeps the
- 3:02planets in their orbits.
- 3:04Your words, advice, and actions are precious.
- 3:08I came to you with an impure heart, and with loving kindness you corrected me.
- 3:14Grant me the ability to show the grace and mercy you bestow upon me continuously.
- 3:20All glory be yours, today and always. Amen.
