- Lucas: Hello and welcome back to Learn Malay with Fexingo. I'm Lucas, and with me is Luna. This is episode two hundred. Luna: Episode two hundred. Can you believe we've made it this far? I still remember when we were counting to five. Lucas: Yeah, that feels like a lifetime ago. And today we're going to continue our counting journey. We've done up to twenty, so today we're going to do twenty-one to twenty-five. Luna: Oh, numbers. I love a good counting episode. I think I've got the pattern down, but let's see. Lucas: Let's start simple. The word for twenty-one is dua puluh satu. Say it with me. dua puluh satu. Luna: dua puluh satu. Lucas: So dua means two, puluh is ten, and satu is one. So it's literally two ten one. Twenty-one. Luna: Two ten one. That makes sense. Like building blocks. Lucas: Exactly. Now let's try twenty-two. dua puluh dua. Luna: dua puluh dua. Lucas: Perfect. So what do you think twenty-three is? Luna: dua puluh tiga. Lucas: You're a natural. And twenty-four? Luna: dua puluh empat. Lucas: And twenty-five? Luna: dua puluh lima. Lucas: There you go. So let's review all of them. dua puluh satu, dua puluh dua, dua puluh tiga, dua puluh empat, dua puluh lima. Luna: I like how regular it is. Once you know the base numbers, you just add dua puluh in front. Lucas: Right. And that's the beauty of Malay numbers. They're very logical. Luna: Can we use them in a sentence? Like, how would I say, I have twenty-one books? Lucas: Great question. You'd say, Saya ada dua puluh satu buku. Remember ada means have. Luna: Saya ada dua puluh satu buku. I have twenty-one books. Lucas: And what if you have twenty-two cats? You love cats. Luna: Saya ada dua puluh dua kucing. But I don't have that many cats. Lucas: Of course not. But it's a good sentence. Now let's try a little challenge. I'll say a number in English and you say it in Malay. Luna: Okay, I'm ready. Lucas: Twenty-three. Luna: dua puluh tiga. Lucas: Twenty-one. Luna: dua puluh satu. Lucas: Twenty-four. Luna: dua puluh empat. Lucas: And twenty-five. Luna: dua puluh lima. Lucas: Flawless. You've got this down. Luna: I'm feeling pretty good. But I want to make sure I remember them later. Maybe we can do a quick recap. Lucas: Absolutely. Let's say them all together one more time. dua puluh satu. Luna: dua puluh satu. Lucas: dua puluh dua. Luna: dua puluh dua. Lucas: dua puluh tiga. Luna: dua puluh tiga. Lucas: dua puluh empat. Luna: dua puluh empat. Lucas: dua puluh lima. Luna: dua puluh lima. Lucas: Perfect. And you know, numbers come up all the time in real life. Prices, quantities, ages. So knowing these is really useful. Luna: Totally. Like if I'm at the market and I want to buy twenty-five apples. Imagine you're at a fruit stall and you want to buy twenty-five bananas. What do you say? Luna: Saya mahu dua puluh lima pisang. I want twenty-five bananas. Lucas: And the seller says, Pisang ini bagus. These bananas are good. Luna: Oh, nice. So I'd say, Saya mahu dua puluh lima pisang. And they say, Pisang ini bagus. Lucas: That's it. You're not just counting, you're using it in a real situation. Luna: I love that. I feel like these numbers are sticking now. Lucas: Let's do one more quick round. I'll say a number in Malay, and you tell me what it is in English. Luna: Okay. Lucas: dua puluh empat. Luna: Twenty-four. Lucas: dua puluh satu. Luna: Twenty-one. Lucas: dua puluh lima. Luna: Twenty-five. Lucas: And dua puluh tiga. Luna: Twenty-three. Lucas: Great job. You're ready to count from twenty-one to twenty-five in Malay. Luna: This was fun. I'm actually looking forward to the next episode to see what numbers come next. Lucas: We'll get there. For now, practice these five numbers and we'll see you next time on Learn Malay with Fexingo. Luna: Bye for now.
