- 0:06Speaker 1: Maruns here, let's give him a clap. We do this now, Yes, yeah.
- 0:10Speaker 2: You don't have to clap yourself, no one else will.
- 0:13Speaker 1: I'll clamp myself just when the waiter brings me pancakes.
- 0:16Speaker 1: That's sort of fun. That's where I'm at. You're a
- 0:20Speaker 1: really interesting character, man. I'm really excited that you're in
- 0:23Speaker 1: because I wanted to hear a little bit about your backstory.
- 0:26Speaker 1: You growing up, how you got into cars. Obviously you're
- 0:29Speaker 1: the owner of Street Effects and you've been pretty much
- 0:33Speaker 1: fronting the biggest car club in Australia as well, amongst
- 0:37Speaker 1: other things. Tell us a little bit about you man,
- 0:39Speaker 1: growing up and getting into the car scene as a
- 0:42Speaker 1: as a kid.
- 0:44Speaker 3: Yeah, well, I think it pretty much came down to
- 0:47Speaker 3: the fact that my parents didn't like cars, and I
- 0:52Speaker 3: you know, when I was seventeen eighteen, first I got
- 0:54Speaker 3: p plates.
- 0:55Speaker 2: In Victoria right, Warren Dite that is the sticks Well,
- 1:02Speaker 2: not wrong with Warren dar I'm looking at Warrendar right
- 1:04Speaker 2: to buy a lot of that.
- 1:05Speaker 1: It's beautiful.
- 1:06Speaker 3: I love it. It's beautiful there. So yeah, if my
- 1:10Speaker 3: parents went away, so I had like a toy t
- 1:12Speaker 3: E and Corolla and my idea of automotive excellence back
- 1:20Speaker 3: then was probably not quite all there. So my idea
- 1:25Speaker 3: of modifications was, I mean, the car had drum brakes,
- 1:28Speaker 3: and I would take the break drums off and painted
- 1:31Speaker 3: them yellow because I was proud of my I didn't
- 1:34Speaker 3: realize that that wasn't a cool thing, so I had
- 1:37Speaker 3: I painted my my wheels black and bought chrome like caps.
- 1:41Speaker 3: The outer rims, you know, the clippin out of it
- 1:44Speaker 3: had those and yellow drum brakes.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Can I just tell you it's so funny because I
- 1:48Speaker 1: feel like we're from the same era because I remember
- 1:50Speaker 1: when Fast and Furious came out, the amount of mates
- 1:53Speaker 1: that did just terrible things to like Hyundai Excel, whether
- 1:58Speaker 1: it be like stabbing the bloody muffler with like a
- 2:01Speaker 1: show driver so it sounds like it's going to turn
- 2:03Speaker 1: out or whatever. Yeah.
- 2:04Speaker 3: Yeah, I really had no idea. I just didn't. I mean,
- 2:07Speaker 3: fifteen inch weeks, I got to set fifteen's and I
- 2:09Speaker 3: sat back and looked at the CaCO. Man, they are huge.
- 2:13Speaker 3: They looked big on the car, but I remember thinking
- 2:15Speaker 3: that is impressive and now, yeah, and I'd sit there
- 2:18Speaker 3: with like my parents, like super eight video camera and
- 2:20Speaker 3: strap it to the seat to try and work out
- 2:22Speaker 3: what the zero one hundred time was. So I'd use
- 2:24Speaker 3: it to video the dashboard because phone cameras didn't have
- 2:28Speaker 3: they weren't a thing, yes, so and go pros went
- 2:30Speaker 3: any thing. So I had like this this tape camera
- 2:33Speaker 3: strapped to the seat and like like like zooming in
- 2:37Speaker 3: on the speedo. And then I'd go home and I'm like, oh,
- 2:39Speaker 3: I did like fourteen eight zero one hundred. So that
- 2:44Speaker 3: was that was my idea of a quick car. And yeah,
- 2:46Speaker 3: I think that the reason I got into it is
- 2:48Speaker 3: because my parents were really not a fan of it,
- 2:50Speaker 3: and so I'd wait until they go away and then
- 2:52Speaker 3: I'd just go buy wheels or something and hope they
- 2:54Speaker 3: didn't notice. And it got to the point where my
- 2:58Speaker 3: old man, I think his favorite story and like it
- 3:02Speaker 3: was kind of legendary and warrendtyed at the time. So
- 3:04Speaker 3: I had three Toyter t dns because I didn't learn
- 3:07Speaker 3: with the first one being in a shipbox. I had
- 3:09Speaker 3: three Toweter Ti dans and two Starions in the.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Front yard studions.
- 3:13Speaker 3: Yeah, and one of them had one of that someone
- 3:15Speaker 3: had put the previous owner had a I think it
- 3:18Speaker 3: must have been a thing in like the eighties and
- 3:20Speaker 3: nineties to like put canvas roofs over metal. Yeah, right,
- 3:23Speaker 3: so they'd put a canvas roof on top of the
- 3:25Speaker 3: stadion's metal roof to make it look like it was
- 3:27Speaker 3: a convertible, and so of course that causes rust.
- 3:30Speaker 4: Oh god.
- 3:31Speaker 3: So I had this gold starion with a black canvas roof,
- 3:35Speaker 3: two red Ta dans, a half cut of a Toyter
- 3:39Speaker 3: Truno a eighty six, and a white toward t ning
- 3:45Speaker 3: as well, all in the front yard. And my dad
- 3:47Speaker 3: came home one day and I wasn't home, and he
- 3:49Speaker 3: just cracked it. And I didn't know that he'd had enough,
- 3:52Speaker 3: Like apparently there's so many times that he can tell
- 3:54Speaker 3: you to get your shit out of the yard before
- 3:56Speaker 3: this is the front yard just scattered everywhere. And I
- 3:58Speaker 3: came home.
- 3:59Speaker 1: You made hisse looked like like the house of Nelson
- 4:02Speaker 1: Mutts from the Simpsons.
- 4:03Speaker 3: Oh it was. Yeah, I can now in retrospect, I
- 4:07Speaker 3: could see where the frustration came. But at the time
- 4:10Speaker 3: I thought, what's wrong, Like this is perfectly normal. Anyway,
- 4:14Speaker 3: I came home and I remember just sitting down, I
- 4:16Speaker 3: started eating chips or something, and I remember thinking, what
- 4:19Speaker 3: was that weird red thing near the bin? And I
- 4:22Speaker 3: went back outside and it was a half of an
- 4:24Speaker 3: A eighty six bonnet I cut up, and then I
- 4:27Speaker 3: looked around the corner. The rest of the A eighty
- 4:29Speaker 3: six half cut was gone. I'd only just bought. It
- 4:31Speaker 3: was like a four thousand dollar hard cut, which now
- 4:33Speaker 3: would be worth an absolute mint because I had to
- 4:34Speaker 3: pop up headlights and everything, and like the engine, the gearbox,
- 4:38Speaker 3: the whole lot all gone. And then I've come back
- 4:40Speaker 3: to the house to go, why is there half a
- 4:42Speaker 3: body near the bin? My dad goes, because I ran
- 4:43Speaker 3: out of angle grinder bits and or discs, and he'd
- 4:48Speaker 3: sat there cutting it all up, and he just because
- 4:51Speaker 3: I think the warre and I had been put on
- 4:53Speaker 3: town water, so they got the sewage a bit of
- 4:55Speaker 3: the septic tanks, so that was all cracked open, and
- 4:58Speaker 3: he'd started pushing all my cas st up into the
- 5:00Speaker 3: septic tank and then buried over it. And so I've
- 5:03Speaker 3: got like a four a G motor, half of a
- 5:06Speaker 3: eighty six, bits of thad and rear end like Sileika stuff.
- 5:10Speaker 3: And yeah, the only reason that more stuff didn't go
- 5:12Speaker 3: in the binner is because some the septic tank was
- 5:15Speaker 3: full and the bin was hit that he couldn't cut
- 5:18Speaker 3: up any more pieces to fit in the.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Rubbish, so he Jeffrey damage your car.
- 5:23Speaker 3: Yeah, so that was probably why I got into cars,
- 5:25Speaker 3: because I was trying to rebel.
- 5:28Speaker 2: Yeah right.
- 5:29Speaker 3: My parents were always into the Toyota full drives. That's
- 5:32Speaker 3: where my Twitter roots came from.
- 5:33Speaker 2: Yeah. Right, so you've always been into jdm's Yeah.
- 5:36Speaker 3: I think the twiter thing was just because my parents
- 5:38Speaker 3: told me that was the best car in the world. Yep,
- 5:40Speaker 3: and then gladly they got rid of their Volvo. Before
- 5:43Speaker 3: that part of my life, before that part my brain developed.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:47Speaker 4: Yeah, and when did when did street well what is
- 5:50Speaker 4: street effects and when did it officially start to become
- 5:53Speaker 4: you know where it is today, which is like ten
- 5:55Speaker 4: million followers on Facebook and other social platforms.
- 5:59Speaker 3: Yeah, well that started because I was kind of living
- 6:03Speaker 3: halfway between Melbourne and Brisbane and I had a drift car,
- 6:06Speaker 3: just one Ady SX with the SR twenty six speed,
- 6:10Speaker 3: and I was doing the super cheap Auto drift competition
- 6:15Speaker 3: and I on the practice laps, I hit the wall,
- 6:19Speaker 3: rolled the car on the roof, skipped along on the roof,
- 6:22Speaker 3: because at the track they had put the tires on
- 6:25Speaker 3: a forty five degree angle and made it like a ramp.
- 6:29Speaker 3: And I mean, obviously talent came into it as well,
- 6:32Speaker 3: just a bit, you know how, like everyone likes to
- 6:34Speaker 3: run the wall. That dragged the rear corder along, and
- 6:36Speaker 3: I didn't care about the car, so I try and
- 6:38Speaker 3: tap the wall, and I hit the wall just a
- 6:39Speaker 3: little bit too hard and it flicked the car right
- 6:41Speaker 3: back around. Because I was on full lock left, it
- 6:43Speaker 3: ended up driving up the wall and then ended up
- 6:46Speaker 3: on the roof, skitting along on the ground, which was
- 6:48Speaker 3: actually it didn't feel as impressive as it sounds like.
- 6:51Speaker 3: It just was like kind of like a slow oh dear,
- 6:53Speaker 3: that was not ideal, And I pushed the car out
- 6:55Speaker 3: onto the street. I had no money at the time,
- 6:58Speaker 3: so I pushed the car out onto the street little
- 7:00Speaker 3: bit away from the drift track and called RACQ and said,
- 7:03Speaker 3: my car won't start because like when you started, it
- 7:07Speaker 3: like oil would like it was full of oil because
- 7:09Speaker 3: down and I couldn't drive it in the condition it
- 7:11Speaker 3: was in. It wasn't actually even registered. I think I
- 7:13Speaker 3: was driving it there on temporary permit. And yeah, I
- 7:16Speaker 3: pushed it like one hundred meters away from Archfield drift
- 7:18Speaker 3: Track and caught RCQ. They came out and they're like,
- 7:22Speaker 3: has this been an accident?
- 7:23Speaker 2: I'm like, nah, no, what makes you think that?
- 7:25Speaker 3: Yeah, there's like the windscreens cap and it had a rollcage,
- 7:27Speaker 3: so it wasn't too bad. And then they put it
- 7:31Speaker 3: on the truck and took it home and all that,
- 7:33Speaker 3: and then I'm like, what am I going to do
- 7:34Speaker 3: with this car? I got like this car, so I
- 7:38Speaker 3: rewind just a little bit. They'd said in order to
- 7:41Speaker 3: take it into the super cheap drift comp the car
- 7:43Speaker 3: had to be presentable because of the shipbox. They said
- 7:45Speaker 3: that wasn't acceptable, and I had to put some to
- 7:47Speaker 3: get some money together, I had to put some stickers
- 7:50Speaker 3: on it, and everyone was charging a fortune for stickers,
- 7:53Speaker 3: so I bought a sticker printer. It was like twenty
- 7:56Speaker 3: eight hundred bucks for a roll and stick a printer
- 7:57Speaker 3: that could print and cut. It was a very basic
- 8:00Speaker 3: thing for the time. And then that was cheaper then
- 8:03Speaker 3: because it was going to cost four grand to get
- 8:05Speaker 3: the car stick it up. So I'm like, well, I've
- 8:06Speaker 3: paid to spend twenty eight hundred bucks and then so
- 8:08Speaker 3: I just bought this cheap sticker printer, and that's where
- 8:11Speaker 3: after I buggered the car up, I'm like, I got
- 8:13Speaker 3: to make some money because I got I got to
- 8:15Speaker 3: fix the car. And then I'm like, well, I got
- 8:17Speaker 3: this printer, what can I do with it? And I
- 8:19Speaker 3: started making like little break tail light decals that stuck
- 8:23Speaker 3: over the top of the third brake line, so if
- 8:25Speaker 3: you hit the brakes, it would show the make of
- 8:27Speaker 3: the car. So you'd put like one eighty sex and
- 8:30Speaker 3: you'd put it over the one out your sex third
- 8:32Speaker 3: brake lin and so you'd hit the brakes and then
- 8:34Speaker 3: that would glow that color. And then I just posted
- 8:36Speaker 3: them all eBay and they was selling for like twenty
- 8:38Speaker 3: bucks each and they were costing like sense, so literally
- 8:42Speaker 3: I was making I was printing twenty dollar notes with
- 8:44Speaker 3: this thing. So within probably three months I paid the
- 8:48Speaker 3: printer off. Also I had enough money to repair the car.
- 8:51Speaker 3: I then went I bought I didn't. I didn't end
- 8:53Speaker 3: up reheading the car that time. I ended up buying
- 8:54Speaker 3: bigger printer YEP, that was like like a twenty thousand
- 8:57Speaker 3: dollars printer instead. And then that's just where they come
- 9:00Speaker 3: and he started from just from that.
- 9:02Speaker 2: On eBay basically.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Yeah, it was kind of like a little spark like
- 9:06Speaker 1: that and it just started everything.
- 9:08Speaker 3: Yeah, it was all just because I had a printer
- 9:10Speaker 3: and I rolled the car and I needed to do
- 9:12Speaker 3: something to try.
- 9:13Speaker 1: And get some time and an empty bank account.
- 9:17Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, I mean my bank acount is still empty,
- 9:19Speaker 3: but now I've got more cars.
- 9:20Speaker 4: So because this is the thing a lot of people,
- 9:23Speaker 4: they kind of don't really understand I guess the quantum
- 9:29Speaker 4: of what you can earn online. So you kind of
- 9:32Speaker 4: went from selling stickers with street effects. You then started
- 9:36Speaker 4: a Facebook page and it sort of grew from there.
- 9:40Speaker 4: Ye without sort of talking exact numbers, if you were
- 9:43Speaker 4: to put a number on how much you were able
- 9:46Speaker 4: to earn off the internet that is stickers, Facebook and
- 9:52Speaker 4: doing all that sort of stuff. For some of the
- 9:54Speaker 4: people that are listening, I think they will be blown
- 9:57Speaker 4: away with like the amount of money involved in all this.
- 10:00Speaker 2: What kind of number would you put on it.
- 10:03Speaker 3: Well, we've moved from stickers now we're more doing car parts,
- 10:06Speaker 3: so we can be doing anything from supercharger kits, wheels, exhausts,
- 10:10Speaker 3: all that sort of stuff on body kits and everything.
- 10:13Speaker 3: But in e commerce you'd be I mean the company
- 10:17Speaker 3: I'll be speaking on the spot seen years or so.
- 10:20Speaker 3: It's got to be close to one hundred mil by now.
- 10:22Speaker 3: In turnover, I.
- 10:24Speaker 2: Mean that that all right, I'm gonna do that.
- 10:29Speaker 1: Later.
- 10:29Speaker 2: Yeah, that's it, just an EPSOM forty one six. Yeah,
- 10:32Speaker 2: that's the thing.
- 10:33Speaker 4: A lot of people don't understand that that the Internet.
- 10:35Speaker 4: It's a little different today because today it's much harder
- 10:38Speaker 4: to monetize stuff. We're seeing on YouTube as well that
- 10:42Speaker 4: they just take so much money. But back in the day,
- 10:45Speaker 4: you could earn money off selling things off online. You
- 10:48Speaker 4: could earn money off content, you could earn money off
- 10:51Speaker 4: buying page.
- 10:56Speaker 2: Any money off that.
- 10:57Speaker 1: If anybody knows about e commerce, it's friend Paul here.
- 11:00Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know if you're familiar with his
- 11:03Speaker 1: only fans, but it's it's basically called pavlanismeal dot com.
- 11:09Speaker 3: And his meal.
- 11:11Speaker 1: Oh wait till he gives him a sugar cube. Wow.
- 11:15Speaker 4: But yeah, online is absolutely huge. So you've got an
- 11:18Speaker 4: audience now of ten million followers on street effects, you're
- 11:21Speaker 4: still selling parts out of Brisbane here. Yeah, you've obviously
- 11:25Speaker 4: blown most of that money on useless things.
- 11:27Speaker 3: But yes, I mean yeah, well, I mean that none
- 11:30Speaker 3: of the things that I've bought work anyway, so they're
- 11:34Speaker 3: all just pretty much in garagees Bustard.
- 11:36Speaker 4: Well tell me you you also have have had relationships
- 11:40Speaker 4: and still obviously do have relationships with a lot of
- 11:42Speaker 4: the big YouTubers overseas, And I think the big difference
- 11:45Speaker 4: between Autralia and overseas is you hit a cap in
- 11:47Speaker 4: Australia pretty quickly on what you can do and what
- 11:49Speaker 4: you can achieve, but overseas it's a different story. You're
- 11:52Speaker 4: friends with Cletus McFarland. Can you run everyone through his backstory?
- 11:56Speaker 4: And if you don't know who he is, he's a
- 11:58Speaker 4: massive YouTuber that but hopefully he's currently alive because there
- 12:01Speaker 4: was the hurricane was like running through the Freedom Factory
- 12:06Speaker 4: and who knows where there's his third time that's gone
- 12:09Speaker 4: under water last year. Yeah, can you run us through
- 12:12Speaker 4: his background as well? Hanging you him because he he
- 12:14Speaker 4: kind of has a character.
- 12:15Speaker 2: Right, it's a bit of a persona.
- 12:17Speaker 3: Yeah. Well I met him through Kyle from thirteen twenty video.
- 12:21Speaker 3: They've come over to Australia and hung out with us
- 12:23Speaker 3: and we've done some videos together. He was the one
- 12:26Speaker 3: that shot the video of the lambeo versus GJ. I
- 12:28Speaker 3: think I'm not getting it. I'm burying myself for getting
- 12:30Speaker 3: back to that. So, yeah, he was one of their
- 12:34Speaker 3: staff members. I think, just help. I don't know if
- 12:37Speaker 3: he did videos. I know that he worked for thirteen
- 12:39Speaker 3: twenty and then they kind of just I remember one
- 12:42Speaker 3: day Kyle said, Hayking, you promote this clean to sect.
- 12:44Speaker 3: I watched the mate. I didn't get it, Like, what
- 12:47Speaker 3: is he talking about? I didn't really understand what, Like
- 12:51Speaker 3: it was a whole persona from the start. They had
- 12:53Speaker 3: a plan right in place, and honestly, I just didn't
- 12:56Speaker 3: get it because like it must have been American thing,
- 12:58Speaker 3: but it was a bit of cultural difference. So I
- 12:59Speaker 3: shared this. I still didn't understand what their point of
- 13:02Speaker 3: this guy was. But yeah, it just grew from that,
- 13:05Speaker 3: and then he went out on his own and now
- 13:06Speaker 3: he's got he owns a racetrack. I think he's bought
- 13:08Speaker 3: a helicopter.
- 13:09Speaker 2: Yeah, he's got like a pilot's license.
- 13:11Speaker 4: Yeah, because there's a lot of those YouTubers over there
- 13:14Speaker 4: that and we've seen that blow up recently with everyone
- 13:16Speaker 4: leaving Donut Media, everyone leaving all the other established sort
- 13:21Speaker 4: of companies at all going out on their own. And
- 13:24Speaker 4: it seems to me like they have different degrees of
- 13:27Speaker 4: success with it. A lot of them who relied just
- 13:30Speaker 4: on YouTube revenue or realizing that it sucks and you don't.
- 13:33Speaker 3: I think the most I've ever made on YouTube is
- 13:35Speaker 3: maybe six grand US a month, Like it's not enough
- 13:39Speaker 3: to I mean, I spent them more than our camera gear. Yeah.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Yeah, it's not a career.
- 13:43Speaker 3: It might be worth it if you're getting endorsements, but
- 13:45Speaker 3: it's not worth it from the views.
- 13:46Speaker 2: That's where it all comes from.
- 13:47Speaker 4: And I can see with him, he's he's earned enough
- 13:50Speaker 4: through endorsements and doing other stuff to.
- 13:52Speaker 3: Be out with guy fan base and he can do
- 13:54Speaker 3: merch and that's where merches, good bank comes from.
- 13:56Speaker 2: That sort of yea, yeah, merch. Merch is absolutely huge.
- 13:59Speaker 4: Some of the other characters overseas that you may have
- 14:03Speaker 4: met early on that have made it big now, any
- 14:05Speaker 4: others that you sort of popped to mind?
- 14:08Speaker 3: Oh, Like, like I said, Kyle, he's had a great
- 14:11Speaker 3: business model doing his thirty and twenty video stuff, probably
- 14:13Speaker 3: a little bit more professional than the cleadest thing it's
- 14:16Speaker 3: more like that they've got their core. It's not like
- 14:18Speaker 3: fun as such. And then there's like Rob Duhmond Robbed built.
- 14:25Speaker 4: Was he the one that built that that crazy rota
- 14:29Speaker 4: that was it like a.
- 14:30Speaker 3: Ten hours old drive he put the oil drive road.
- 14:32Speaker 3: Oh no, there was that one that you're talking about,
- 14:34Speaker 3: the twenty six Leader that was built. But that was
- 14:38Speaker 3: one of the biggest stories that we did back in the.
- 14:39Speaker 4: Old car all those days that one's been through the
- 14:44Speaker 4: ringer off.
- 14:45Speaker 3: Yeah, like the golden the gold.
- 14:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:49Speaker 4: The funny background here is that that I've known Mark
- 14:52Speaker 4: for a while and I think we're probably exceeded the the.
- 14:59Speaker 2: Statute of them.
- 15:00Speaker 4: But we used to to kind of in months where
- 15:04Speaker 4: we needed extra traffic to the site, we would come
- 15:07Speaker 4: to Mark for any viral stories he had, and there
- 15:09Speaker 4: was that gold gtr was like a source of almost
- 15:14Speaker 4: infinite gold rows of traffic for us, closely followed by
- 15:19Speaker 4: Old Mat with the twenty six Roader.
- 15:21Speaker 3: The twenty six liter Rotary and yeah, the twelve Roader. Yeah.
- 15:24Speaker 4: It's it's crazy because you could basically write the story,
- 15:27Speaker 4: share it on social and like on Reddit, and you
- 15:30Speaker 4: would get.
- 15:31Speaker 3: Go nuts again every time you recited. We just had
- 15:33Speaker 3: like that, they just were part of the rotation. We
- 15:35Speaker 3: just just it just refreshed and then you just change
- 15:37Speaker 3: the words a little bit, like you'd never guess what
- 15:39Speaker 3: she did this time.
- 15:42Speaker 2: That's probably a lot of stuff.
- 15:44Speaker 1: Yeah, speak of speaking of YouTubers, I love there's a
- 15:46Speaker 1: guy in the UK, mattter Armstrong, who I'm sure you're
- 15:49Speaker 1: familiar with, the guy who would take like ridden off
- 15:52Speaker 1: like Lambeau's roles. He's done a really impressive thing with
- 15:55Speaker 1: their roles lately. He's been getting a lot of influencers
- 15:59Speaker 1: like ridden off cars and fixing those.
- 16:02Speaker 3: But like that cock head the other day, mcclar, that guy,
- 16:06Speaker 3: he's such an idiot. He's the one that picks fights
- 16:07Speaker 3: with people. Think it's security a step in.
- 16:09Speaker 4: Did you see that Gordy He was driving he's McLaren
- 16:12Speaker 4: something like streaming and he was it was like seventy
- 16:16Speaker 4: miles an hour in the sopping wet and he aquaplane,
- 16:19Speaker 4: hit a wall, continued live streaming while someone extracted him
- 16:23Speaker 4: from the car, but then he shut off. Yeah, but
- 16:26Speaker 4: is in the car with his head bleeding and he's like,
- 16:29Speaker 4: oh my god, my car, my car, my car, His
- 16:31Speaker 4: mate gets out, He's like, oh you okay, it's like.
- 16:34Speaker 3: Hands in the camera. He goes, hey, keep video.
- 16:36Speaker 2: He has just absolutely copped it online.
- 16:39Speaker 3: And he lives off the hate. Like I don't understand
- 16:42Speaker 3: he makes money because nobody likes that clown. Everything I've
- 16:46Speaker 3: watched of him, I just want to punch him in
- 16:47Speaker 3: the face.
- 16:48Speaker 1: Yeah, but I bet you'd go back and watch it again,
- 16:50Speaker 1: do you know what I mean? Like people love watching
- 16:52Speaker 1: that shit.
- 16:52Speaker 3: It's especially people love watching negative stuff. Yes, it's just
- 16:56Speaker 3: I mean back when we used to have to make
- 16:58Speaker 3: up articles before those fact checking stites came in. Do
- 17:02Speaker 3: you remember that Ty Lopez guy that was always going
- 17:05Speaker 3: on about like here in my garage, you got my Lamborghini.
- 17:08Speaker 3: Knowledge is more important than Lamborghinis that if you ever
- 17:11Speaker 3: want to spend a little bit of time looking through
- 17:14Speaker 3: look up Ty Lopez crashes Lamborghini.
- 17:17Speaker 4: Oh this is so interesting because he's coming up in
- 17:19Speaker 4: my feed recently for his podcast or something.
- 17:22Speaker 3: So I unded a company previous to a lot of
- 17:25Speaker 3: this stuff called Epic Media, and we used to just
- 17:28Speaker 3: just the whole thing was just to get viral traffic
- 17:30Speaker 3: in order to make ad clicks, right, and then ninety
- 17:33Speaker 3: percent of what you see on the net is all
- 17:34Speaker 3: fake stuff, like, so we just make up news articles
- 17:37Speaker 3: that looked like they could be realistic that everyone wanted
- 17:40Speaker 3: to click on, like man gets Dick stuck in ATM
- 17:44Speaker 3: for the fourth time, just start following me, all right.
- 17:47Speaker 3: And then there was this picture of my mate Scottie
- 17:50Speaker 3: South and I put him on all of them. He
- 17:54Speaker 3: was always the guy getting his junk stuff in something.
- 17:57Speaker 3: He also he started a flab in the bow and
- 18:01Speaker 3: mango like when it got when it disappeared, like there
- 18:04Speaker 3: was just all these news articles had his face on them.
- 18:07Speaker 3: So anyway, we made these ones where because tyler Pez
- 18:10Speaker 3: was spending mad bank on YouTube, it's like I think
- 18:12Speaker 3: he just dumped millions of dollars to be the intro
- 18:14Speaker 3: to every car or lifestyle video in that period of time.
- 18:18Speaker 3: Would have been probably when was this shit, Probably circa
- 18:20Speaker 3: twenty sixteen something like that, And so we just made
- 18:25Speaker 3: articles that were bouncing off other popular keywords. So at
- 18:28Speaker 3: the time tyler Pez was was popular, and so we
- 18:31Speaker 3: we just sort of said tyler Pez crashes car while
- 18:35Speaker 3: reading a book on in the Beverly Hills, because that's
- 18:39Speaker 3: what he'd always says, he goes here in Beverly Hills
- 18:41Speaker 3: in my Lamborghini, and so we goes he crashed while
- 18:43Speaker 3: reading a book, and then, like his interview, we made
- 18:46Speaker 3: a fake interview. It was just like, yeah, but I
- 18:48Speaker 3: absorbed the knowledge. Look, so we made this article. And
- 18:54Speaker 3: then nine day I woke up and I see him
- 18:56Speaker 3: doing a podcast going I didn't crash my way again.
- 18:59Speaker 3: I'm like, yes, he had to do a media release.
- 19:04Speaker 3: It wasn't him. And then we did one justin Bieber
- 19:08Speaker 3: crashes Bagatti Veyron and we just found random pictures whatever
- 19:12Speaker 3: stuff like this. Yeah, there's great times. That's so good.
- 19:17Speaker 1: I don't wish his celebrity to crash a car at all.
- 19:19Speaker 1: But me, I mean, I hear.
- 19:23Speaker 3: He's really nice, but I just don't like his voice.
- 19:27Speaker 1: He's nice in a kind of well. I graduated off
- 19:32Speaker 1: the university and then I owned a medical waste company.
- 19:36Speaker 1: Now I earn a this rare Bagati. Anyway, the museum.
- 19:45Speaker 1: He's my impression of SMI. I've got the half zip.
- 19:54Speaker 1: This is great for an audio format. Anyway, shut out
- 19:58Speaker 1: to all our Here you go, got my jumper rolled up.
- 20:03Speaker 1: Welcome to the museum. Please don't look into my finances
- 20:08Speaker 1: on the Camon Island. Shout out to Smid please come
- 20:13Speaker 1: into the podcast. That'd be great.
- 20:15Speaker 2: So tell us modern day Mark, what are you driving
- 20:17Speaker 2: at the moment?
- 20:18Speaker 4: What's in the garage? So you rock up in a
- 20:20Speaker 4: nice sounding Mercedes down there?
- 20:22Speaker 3: Yeah, that's the Daily's the S sixty three probably the
- 20:27Speaker 3: I'd have to say it's one of the best cause
- 20:28Speaker 3: I've ever bought. Yeah, I love that thing.
- 20:30Speaker 4: Well, you know what's funny those cars that were like
- 20:33Speaker 4: half a million dollars when they were in.
- 20:34Speaker 3: Year twenty or four thirty.
- 20:35Speaker 4: Yeah, they're now so cheap. Yeah that it's almost like,
- 20:40Speaker 4: you know, you could donate them to the homeless.
- 20:42Speaker 2: There's they're that cheap.
- 20:44Speaker 3: But I'm going to wait for these text messes come in.
- 20:48Speaker 4: But yeah, it's yeah, they're they're they're calling what have
- 20:52Speaker 4: you done to it?
- 20:53Speaker 3: Down? Pipes tune and I think that's it. It's got
- 20:58Speaker 3: a lowering module as well, and twenty two's but I
- 21:01Speaker 3: broke the busted for like all four wheels when I
- 21:05Speaker 3: went and did Bathurst.
- 21:06Speaker 4: That'll do it. Yeah, what else is in the garage.
- 21:10Speaker 3: I've got the thirty five g DR that's pushing around
- 21:13Speaker 3: fifteen hundredheel horsepower nice, which is broken. I got a
- 21:19Speaker 3: toy A eighty six with the pop ups yep with
- 21:23Speaker 3: a Panda initial d paint scheme with a SR twenty six,
- 21:27Speaker 3: also broken. I had a thirty four g DR baside
- 21:32Speaker 3: blue vispect to broken, but it's actually not broken. It
- 21:35Speaker 3: just got a busted exhaust manifold gasket and that bought Simples.
- 21:42Speaker 3: That one's an easy fix. But I bought sight unseen.
- 21:45Speaker 3: It came up. I think some Lebo owned it in Sydney.
- 21:47Speaker 3: It's so good, yeah, and it turned up. It was
- 21:50Speaker 3: because like that. I bought it when they were expensive
- 21:53Speaker 3: during COVID too, and so I felt sick when it
- 21:55Speaker 3: turned up because it looked good because they'd done an
- 21:58Speaker 3: engine out paint job right, because like I mean, the
- 22:03Speaker 3: base side is such a pretty color, and I saw
- 22:06Speaker 3: the photos of it. I'm like, I got it for
- 22:07Speaker 3: a reasonable price because I knew it would have had
- 22:09Speaker 3: Is it real? Do you know?
- 22:10Speaker 2: It's real?
- 22:11Speaker 3: It's got some history behind it, like back in Japan,
- 22:14Speaker 3: but it's for my purposes. I didn't want to be
- 22:17Speaker 3: paying six hundred thousand dollars, which is what the going
- 22:20Speaker 3: rate was at the time, so I got it for
- 22:22Speaker 3: a good price and then it's still I think it still.
- 22:25Speaker 2: Cost me more than my merk.
- 22:26Speaker 3: But when it turned up I felt physically ill because
- 22:29Speaker 3: like the interior, whoever had put the car back together
- 22:31Speaker 3: had just slapped it. All the clips were snapped, the
- 22:34Speaker 3: TV didn't work like, it was all lines through the screen,
- 22:37Speaker 3: the steering wheels all rady, and so it just yeah
- 22:41Speaker 3: for an old Dat's and I just thankfully it's the
- 22:44Speaker 3: cost has been forgotten now and then I stand probably
- 22:46Speaker 3: sixty grand on buying just the interior, trims and everything
- 22:49Speaker 3: to redo.
- 22:49Speaker 2: So you fixed it all.
- 22:50Speaker 3: I fixed it. Now it's mint, but it still makes
- 22:53Speaker 3: me feel pained. I remember that feeling of turning up
- 22:56Speaker 3: and like they put like stuff in backwards at the
- 22:58Speaker 3: gearship and it's one wrong and yeah, it was just
- 23:01Speaker 3: all half after that didn't have like the accelerated pedal
- 23:03Speaker 3: was zip tight on and like all particular stuff. So yeah,
- 23:07Speaker 3: like that that's that's now it's all beautiful and mint.
- 23:10Speaker 3: Now it just sits in the garage, So what not
- 23:12Speaker 3: the point of buying that thing was? And now of
- 23:14Speaker 3: course they've dropped like one hundred grand.
- 23:16Speaker 1: Yeah, cars have just yeah, yeah, great, that's gone. That
- 23:21Speaker 1: that honeymoon period's done. I'm going to ask you what's
- 23:23Speaker 1: your favorite Japanese kutter to modify. I mean, it seems
- 23:27Speaker 1: like the Toyota eighty six is a brilliant blank canvas
- 23:32Speaker 1: in a lot of ways, as.
- 23:34Speaker 3: Long as you don't do what I did, Like it's
- 23:35Speaker 3: just a waste of money. Yeah, I'd never start with
- 23:37Speaker 3: anything like the open the box of motor. It just
- 23:39Speaker 3: can't get the power. You just know, whether it's a
- 23:42Speaker 3: Soubreu or a Toyter with that box of motor. I
- 23:44Speaker 3: don't think that you're going to ever get reliable power
- 23:47Speaker 3: out of a boxer. Just in my personal experience, it's
- 23:50Speaker 3: like dicing with when you get an R seven, you
- 23:53Speaker 3: know it's going to make you upset one day.
- 23:55Speaker 2: Oh yeah. RX seven's a beautiful look.
- 23:57Speaker 3: At just terrible like the engines will make you cry.
- 24:02Speaker 4: Yeah. I had a friend of mine that had one
- 24:04Speaker 4: that he started off stock and then he gradually did
- 24:07Speaker 4: more and more work to it to the point where
- 24:09Speaker 4: it was it was using so much or every time
- 24:12Speaker 4: you drove in it you smelt like oil and petrol,
- 24:16Speaker 4: no matter how much money he put into it. You
- 24:18Speaker 4: always stank it sounded unreal though, like that wrote of
- 24:21Speaker 4: sound is so cool.
- 24:23Speaker 3: Yeah, I love like I want to buy a triple Beer,
- 24:25Speaker 3: a triple Roader twenty big one a mate Scott that
- 24:28Speaker 3: I've got Marne, which I'll do one day. But yeah,
- 24:31Speaker 3: I wouldn't go down that path of the road or
- 24:33Speaker 3: again unless it's that specific one.
- 24:36Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 24:37Speaker 3: Yeah. Aside from that that supers got a bit of
- 24:39Speaker 3: a super collection. I had the Mark five have sold
- 24:41Speaker 3: that now. That remark FI is probably my favorite modifiable
- 24:45Speaker 3: modern car yep like that on the track was blisteringly fast.
- 24:49Speaker 4: But they stopped being modifiable, didn't they because we bought
- 24:52Speaker 4: ours at the same time. Then they did the slight
- 24:54Speaker 4: update and they changed the ECU didn't know.
- 24:56Speaker 3: I think that's fixable now. I think ECU to the States,
- 25:01Speaker 3: I don't know enough about it. I got out of
- 25:02Speaker 3: it after so I got one of the ones that
- 25:04Speaker 3: was modify and then but Tyta, they don't sponsor you,
- 25:08Speaker 3: do they No? Okay, So I got the first one
- 25:11Speaker 3: available in Australia. I was very lucky to get that,
- 25:13Speaker 3: and then I had a brilliant track season in it
- 25:16Speaker 3: like I did two three, seasons in it car only
- 25:20Speaker 3: had fifteen thousand k's on the It was all very
- 25:23Speaker 3: basic mods like just exhaust, intake, suspension, brake pads basically
- 25:31Speaker 3: is all I did. And I thing out of tune
- 25:33Speaker 3: and run a eighty five or not even flirty five
- 25:35Speaker 3: like e fifty because the injector aren't big enough to
- 25:37Speaker 3: run flirty five. And then that it just started misfirring
- 25:42Speaker 3: at the track one day and wouldn't run, and the
- 25:46Speaker 3: the variable cam timing it snapped the thing that holds
- 25:49Speaker 3: the rockers on YEP, and then it lost all pressure
- 25:52Speaker 3: to the very cam timing, and that went into like
- 25:57Speaker 3: Toya basically said, we don't know what's wrong with it,
- 25:59Speaker 3: but you'll have to per hour to figure it out,
- 26:01Speaker 3: because they didn't have a book to say what was
- 26:03Speaker 3: the issue, and so they expected me to pay an
- 26:05Speaker 3: open check book, and I said, well, do you want
- 26:07Speaker 3: to learn what's wrong. You've never even looked at one
- 26:09Speaker 3: of these motors before, and effectively ended up going to
- 26:12Speaker 3: a BMW specialist SSCC. They popped it apart. It turned
- 26:17Speaker 3: out that it was just this one bearing cap had
- 26:21Speaker 3: actually cracked, and it had cracked because the bolts weren't
- 26:23Speaker 3: done up tight from factory. Oh wow, so they were
- 26:26Speaker 3: all loose finger tight.
- 26:27Speaker 2: Wow, the whole row of them. Unbelievable.
- 26:29Speaker 3: And then Toyota just said, nah, bad luck, it's been
- 26:31Speaker 3: on the track. I'm like, you literally flew me to
- 26:34Speaker 3: Melbourne to drive one of these on the track.
- 26:36Speaker 2: You know what.
- 26:36Speaker 4: That's the shit thing with Toyota. They burned customers in
- 26:41Speaker 4: the States recently with gr Corollas because they were claiming
- 26:45Speaker 4: that they were overdriven track all that sort of stuff.
- 26:49Speaker 4: Actually had one or two of them burned to the
- 26:51Speaker 4: ground because they just spontaneously combusted while people were driving them,
- 26:55Speaker 4: and they just denied all those warranty claims. Yeah, I
- 26:58Speaker 4: just think they need to be more like Yeah Day, where.
- 27:00Speaker 3: They have such a great company to work with as
- 27:02Speaker 3: well foundays like yep, if you take it to the track,
- 27:04Speaker 3: can and they'll do a day two for you. It's
- 27:07Speaker 3: like a free track day with hyn Day. And if
- 27:09Speaker 3: something goes wrong then they will still warrant it.
- 27:12Speaker 2: That's proper confidence in the car.
- 27:13Speaker 3: But I remember back when the thirty five GDR came out,
- 27:16Speaker 3: there was the track day that they ran on saying
- 27:17Speaker 3: it might be in Melbourne, and then they denied warranties
- 27:20Speaker 3: for any of the cars that turned up for the
- 27:21Speaker 3: track day and they said, now your brakes aren't covered.
- 27:24Speaker 1: Unbelievable, a peculiar thing to like offer to the market
- 27:28Speaker 1: a track car or a car that's effectively like a
- 27:31Speaker 1: track car and then not honor the warranty because you've
- 27:34Speaker 1: taken it to the fucking track.
- 27:36Speaker 3: So that's what they wiped their hands of it and
- 27:38Speaker 3: said it's been on the track and in their terms.
- 27:41Speaker 3: Because I remember you were at that track day at
- 27:43Speaker 3: Philip Island, someone specifically asked I don't know if it
- 27:46Speaker 3: was somebody asked, what is the track warranty on? This
- 27:49Speaker 3: guy was really very dicey about it.
- 27:52Speaker 2: It was something like we always support our customers.
- 27:55Speaker 3: It was like he wouldn't. And then eventually he got
- 27:57Speaker 3: cornered because I've got it on video of him saying
- 28:00Speaker 3: we do have a track warranty for non competitive track events.
- 28:04Speaker 3: And then I think you were asking what does competitive mean?
- 28:08Speaker 3: And then I think it came down to that you
- 28:10Speaker 3: don't get a monetary prize or something like that, which
- 28:14Speaker 3: I can't understand. Hind day is similar. You have something
- 28:16Speaker 3: that be you're not something. Yeah, but I mean if
- 28:20Speaker 3: you want any of these places, if they want to,
- 28:22Speaker 3: they could say it's time by who is it, by
- 28:26Speaker 3: the natsoft software, by your own motive off phone like that.
- 28:29Speaker 3: They've got plenty of ways out of it. But yeah,
- 28:31Speaker 3: I remember him being really cagy about the response, and
- 28:33Speaker 3: I brought that response up when I had my letter
- 28:35Speaker 3: to TWITIS, saying can you come to the party with
- 28:37Speaker 3: this repair? And then in the end they just said, well,
- 28:40Speaker 3: it's modified anyway, and so they fell back on that,
- 28:42Speaker 3: even though it was not the modifications that caused it.
- 28:46Speaker 3: I understand that it was going to be a battle,
- 28:48Speaker 3: but I was hoping at least they would want to
- 28:50Speaker 3: come to the party and maybe helping to see what
- 28:53Speaker 3: the problem was, because I thought that would be invaluable
- 28:56Speaker 3: experienced for them to say. Anyway, a couple of there'd
- 28:58Speaker 3: been fifteen, twenty of them, these other cases the exact
- 29:01Speaker 3: same thing. Yeah, right, so I'm isolated case. I know
- 29:04Speaker 3: of another one at least at the garage that does
- 29:06Speaker 3: my worker's had the exact same thing, which is how
- 29:08Speaker 3: they knew what to look for, because it took six
- 29:10Speaker 3: months to find someone that knew how to fix the problem.
- 29:12Speaker 2: So it's safe to say that you won't be buying
- 29:14Speaker 2: it toider again.
- 29:15Speaker 3: Man, it turned me off it, Like, that's why I
- 29:17Speaker 3: didn't buy. I bought the j I RS, but I
- 29:19Speaker 3: sold it for in Australia because the driving position and.
- 29:21Speaker 2: It was it's weird, ye horrific.
- 29:23Speaker 3: I'm looking I'm not even that at all. I'm looking
- 29:25Speaker 3: down at the revision on like a plinth. It just
- 29:28Speaker 3: feels so uncomfortable drive. And I knew that I was
- 29:30Speaker 3: planning on putting that making an off road car. I
- 29:32Speaker 3: was going to jacket up something stupid, and I just
- 29:34Speaker 3: wanted to take it to Fraser Island or something, just
- 29:36Speaker 3: because I had such good overhangs, Like it had no
- 29:39Speaker 3: overhang so you could actually take it off road. But
- 29:41Speaker 3: that was my plan for that. I wanted to jack
- 29:42Speaker 3: it up, put you know, two inch left and thirty
- 29:44Speaker 3: one inch tires something. But then I just saw myself.
- 29:48Speaker 3: I'm like, I got it when it was a thirty
- 29:49Speaker 3: nine thousand dollars carp and then I sold it for
- 29:51Speaker 3: I think forty eight Yep.
- 29:53Speaker 2: People did that, the only car I've ever.
- 29:54Speaker 4: Made money on.
- 29:56Speaker 3: But yeah, then they offered the gr Corolla, which I
- 30:00Speaker 3: was considering, but I think in my defiance, I ended
- 30:02Speaker 3: up saying I'm not buying another car on too, because
- 30:04Speaker 3: you scream me on that. But then all I did
- 30:06Speaker 3: is just probably tear up ten ground bym not buying
- 30:08Speaker 3: and selling. But yeah, no, look, I don't have a
- 30:10Speaker 3: problem with the titter thing. I just it was a
- 30:12Speaker 3: bit upsetting that they the way that they dealt with
- 30:15Speaker 3: that that case, Yeah, don't makes sense, but yeah, that
- 30:17Speaker 3: that's probably my pick of the I suppose you could
- 30:20Speaker 3: argue it's not a Japanese car.
- 30:21Speaker 2: Yeah, well, yeah, it's sort of Japanese badge.
- 30:24Speaker 3: Yeah, but that's that's honestly, like we were beating GD
- 30:27Speaker 3: three Arres's around the track with mild mods.
- 30:29Speaker 4: Yep, it's a highly capable card like it's very and
- 30:32Speaker 4: I heard they're about to do one with the is
- 30:34Speaker 4: it the s uh which BMW engine, the one out
- 30:38Speaker 4: of the M three, So they're actually going to have
- 30:41Speaker 4: like some proper meat under the bonnet as well, So
- 30:44Speaker 4: it could.
- 30:44Speaker 3: Be interesting going to do the S fifty eight or associate.
- 30:47Speaker 2: Yeah, I think so that that.
- 30:49Speaker 3: Been rumored, that's been rumored for a couple of years.
- 30:50Speaker 3: I'd be interested to see it. Although that rumor of
- 30:52Speaker 3: the six speed, no one said.
- 30:54Speaker 2: Never going to happen, and again it happened.
- 30:56Speaker 3: Yeah, that was I was honestly surprised because at that thing,
- 30:59Speaker 3: the guy I said not going to happen, he specifically
- 31:01Speaker 3: we had an interview with him where he said auto
- 31:04Speaker 3: only and it's because not just from a monetary.
- 31:07Speaker 4: Set, but it's a better box, which definitely it's like
- 31:09Speaker 4: it is, but you'll still do a manual anyway.
- 31:12Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I didn't expect it to ever happen. Then
- 31:16Speaker 3: yeah they did.
- 31:19Speaker 1: Wow. So what's a what would be historical or fairly modern?
- 31:23Speaker 1: What would be a Japanese style sports car that you
- 31:26Speaker 1: would be quite happy to leave alone or maybe just
- 31:29Speaker 1: do a few sort of things for modern convenience to it.
- 31:32Speaker 1: Like I A. I had a two sixties Z once
- 31:35Speaker 1: upon a time, and I kept it like so original,
- 31:40Speaker 1: like it was my thing. Everything that went wrong with it,
- 31:42Speaker 1: I'd fucking spend as much money as I could to
- 31:45Speaker 1: keep it o G. And the guy who ended up
- 31:47Speaker 1: buying off it buying the car from me was my mechanic.
- 31:51Speaker 1: He was a young dude, and he ended up just
- 31:54Speaker 1: modifying the crap out of it, like really putting flares
- 31:57Speaker 1: and all sorts of things on a different engine and stuff.
- 32:00Speaker 1: And I remember at the time I was like really
- 32:02Speaker 1: sad and horrified, but I can looking back on it,
- 32:06Speaker 1: I can kind of see why. But yeah, would there
- 32:09Speaker 1: be any sort of would there be a Japanese car
- 32:12Speaker 1: that you would quite proudly like leave fairly og?
- 32:17Speaker 3: I mean, does an LFA count?
- 32:20Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that works.
- 32:22Speaker 3: Yeah, that's that's probably my favorite car in all history,
- 32:24Speaker 3: the sound of that. I've been lucky enough to drive one.
- 32:27Speaker 3: I would, I would, Yeah, I would do some terrible
- 32:29Speaker 3: things to do in one of those. But from a realistic perspective,
- 32:31Speaker 3: that's probably not one i'd say. I mean, even like
- 32:36Speaker 3: supers and GDRs are not a very good looking car,
- 32:38Speaker 3: completely standard. They're cool, but they're not a great looking car.
- 32:43Speaker 3: They look nice when they're done up, I think, but yeah, look,
- 32:48Speaker 3: I don't know, it's a tough one. I think probably
- 32:51Speaker 3: one of the better looking cars. I love that nineties era.
- 32:53Speaker 3: I like the GTO or the three thousand GTS a
- 32:55Speaker 3: great looking car, and I don't think you need to
- 32:58Speaker 3: do it because they're a terrible car on the track.
- 33:00Speaker 3: They're just too heavy. They're not that fast, but they
- 33:02Speaker 3: look fantastic.
- 33:04Speaker 4: Yeah. Are they reliable though?
- 33:06Speaker 3: No?
- 33:06Speaker 4: Yes, no, it just goes well with anything I buy it. Yeah,
- 33:09Speaker 4: well there you you should definitely look at getting one.
- 33:12Speaker 3: If I wanted saying reliable and be decent, I'll probably go.
- 33:15Speaker 4: The super Yeah okay.
- 33:18Speaker 3: But then I want to do a body kit and
- 33:20Speaker 3: then we then lower it and then maybe more power,
- 33:22Speaker 3: and then it's just so you it's gone completely a
- 33:24Speaker 3: throused from what you asked.
- 33:26Speaker 1: I'd like to drink out like a like a like
- 33:29Speaker 1: a Toyota Century or something like that. It could be
- 33:31Speaker 1: fun just to kind of the modern age would be good.
- 33:34Speaker 4: V twelve Yeah, but V twelve is reliable. I think
- 33:39Speaker 4: they were pretty solid.
- 33:40Speaker 3: They were way underpower, like they were deliberately just made
- 33:43Speaker 3: to like last forever. Yeah, I like the one you said,
- 33:48Speaker 3: great engine.
- 33:49Speaker 4: Gordy, you've put a call out for questions on social
- 33:54Speaker 4: what if we got from Mark.
- 33:55Speaker 1: Let's do it, Let's have a little let's a deep dive.
- 33:58Speaker 4: I'll ask you one more. Well, Gordy's look craziest car
- 34:01Speaker 4: experience you've ever had.
- 34:02Speaker 3: There's one this weekend that I can't talk about yet.
- 34:04Speaker 3: Oh in relation to Bathurst?
- 34:08Speaker 4: Interesting? Okay, So well, can you not talk about it
- 34:11Speaker 4: because it's this weekend?
- 34:14Speaker 3: Depending on who wins? Ah, this one team. If one
- 34:20Speaker 3: manufacturer does not win, I don't think it can never
- 34:22Speaker 3: be talked about.
- 34:23Speaker 4: Okay, Well, please get back in touch with us if you.
- 34:26Speaker 2: Can talk about it later.
- 34:27Speaker 3: That's a story.
- 34:28Speaker 4: Interesting, okay, Okay that one.
- 34:32Speaker 3: Crazy car stories. Come back to me on that.
- 34:34Speaker 1: I think, Gordy, this is from Intrigued Coop. So the
- 34:39Speaker 1: secondhand market is settling, but not for commodols or falcons.
- 34:44Speaker 2: Story of your life.
- 34:45Speaker 1: Yeah, not for commodols or falcons. Will they settle or
- 34:49Speaker 1: do you think dealers are trying to get their money back?
- 34:51Speaker 3: Well?
- 34:52Speaker 2: Can I just offer it my two cents here?
- 34:55Speaker 4: I think that people confuse what they see on car
- 34:59Speaker 4: sales with what is actually happening in the real world.
- 35:02Speaker 4: You can ask for whatever price you want on car sales.
- 35:04Speaker 4: But if you go look at some of the GTSRW
- 35:07Speaker 4: ones that are listed for sale on car sales, car
- 35:10Speaker 4: sales now lets you see price insights, and it lets
- 35:14Speaker 4: you see revisions on pricing.
- 35:16Speaker 2: Some of the pricing has changed like twenty.
- 35:18Speaker 4: Times over the past three years, and some of these
- 35:20Speaker 4: cars have been listed for three years. So I think
- 35:23Speaker 4: that that that type of market really is driven by
- 35:27Speaker 4: the buyers at the moment as opposed to the sellers.
- 35:28Speaker 4: And if there was a car there that you really wanted,
- 35:31Speaker 4: it really is a buyers market. You just need to
- 35:33Speaker 4: find a seller that is desperate enough to want to sell.
- 35:36Speaker 4: I don't think you're paying sticker price in any of
- 35:37Speaker 4: that stuff. Is that your experience mark with some of
- 35:39Speaker 4: that classic stuff?
- 35:41Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 35:41Speaker 3: I haven't really bought anything new and cars since the
- 35:45Speaker 3: COVID craps.
- 35:46Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 35:46Speaker 3: My only experience recently has been like that thirty four GDR.
- 35:49Speaker 4: YEP, which you're overpaid on well to the Lebanese man, yes.
- 35:56Speaker 3: Yeah, I look it's settled, that's for sure. But I
- 35:58Speaker 3: don't really know much about the hold and reformed. I've
- 36:00Speaker 3: never looked at any of that ever.
- 36:02Speaker 4: It's because you don't have any fucking class.
- 36:07Speaker 1: Actually, this is one from Sean Launder. Did he get
- 36:10Speaker 1: the blood off his floor after someone tried to break
- 36:12Speaker 1: into his garage?
- 36:13Speaker 3: Yes, that's been cleaned up, okay, thankfully, Yes, and then
- 36:17Speaker 3: we never found No. No, there's another one.
- 36:21Speaker 1: I don't know why we've got this one. This is
- 36:22Speaker 1: from Top Good Bakery. Oh hey, guys, what's next? Does
- 36:26Speaker 1: Gordy provide the guess? Well, I'm sorry, there's no socks today.
- 36:30Speaker 1: We had to stop after Trevor pizzas. That is actually
- 36:36Speaker 1: a true story.
- 36:37Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 36:38Speaker 4: I was like, hey, Trevor was going to go grab
- 36:39Speaker 4: a piece of pepperoni, and then the fucking boxes.
- 36:42Speaker 2: Were just all empty and just strewn all over the place.
- 36:45Speaker 1: We had to put it into context. Mark, we had
- 36:48Speaker 1: three pizzas. Trevor took two of those pizzas and put
- 36:51Speaker 1: the other pizza in the middle and ate it like
- 36:54Speaker 1: a pizza sandwich.
- 36:56Speaker 3: What like a whole pizza as a sandwich.
- 37:01Speaker 4: If you saw him, you'd understand he's a tech review.
- 37:04Speaker 1: I don't worry, we don't expect he's on the.
- 37:07Speaker 3: So now I'm now, I'm like, I'm envisaging the guy
- 37:10Speaker 3: from Simpson's the comic book Guy.
- 37:13Speaker 1: Very similar. I don't know if you I don't know
- 37:15Speaker 1: if you ever read Rolldale's Twits when you're a kid,
- 37:18Speaker 1: But the big, fat, hairy bastard, that's pretty much Trevor Long.
- 37:25Speaker 1: I could not join an episode without a Trevor Long joke.
- 37:27Speaker 2: I mean, I know, and now I'm getting into the
- 37:29Speaker 2: minutes terrible. It's so insulting.
- 37:32Speaker 3: Well, he's never.
- 37:33Speaker 1: Coming back here again. I literally can't afford the fucking
- 37:36Speaker 1: shopping bill for his rider.
- 37:39Speaker 4: Between that question, No, there are no snacks. Gordy does
- 37:41Speaker 4: sometimes provide snacks. We're in the kub I s studios
- 37:47Speaker 4: where Gordon works, and they have quite a healthy stock
- 37:51Speaker 4: of free.
- 37:52Speaker 3: Things, bottles of champagne.
- 37:54Speaker 5: At the end of this desk, there's pens, pencils with
- 38:00Speaker 5: the bloody stationary fucking car experts, running lows with someone else's.
- 38:09Speaker 2: Sober buck.
- 38:09Speaker 1: Wherever you can, We'll have to send you a couple
- 38:11Speaker 1: of like where the real merch is a couple of
- 38:13Speaker 1: drivers shows stickers baby and yeah, that's it.
- 38:16Speaker 4: Put one of those on the R thirty four. Sort
- 38:19Speaker 4: of a bit of a question on social media. So
- 38:23Speaker 4: you obviously earned a lot of money off social media
- 38:26Speaker 4: and all of that stuff in the background, what do
- 38:29Speaker 4: you reckon social media is hitting I look at Facebook
- 38:31Speaker 4: and they've really clamped down on everything.
- 38:35Speaker 2: How do you think it's going to play?
- 38:36Speaker 3: If it was the way it is now, I would
- 38:38Speaker 3: have made no money every on social It's just I
- 38:42Speaker 3: guess unless you are like those girls doing do stuff,
- 38:47Speaker 3: it seems to be the only content that throws them
- 38:49Speaker 3: in my feet. Me.
- 38:53Speaker 2: No, it's just it's it's the China.
- 38:56Speaker 3: We have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars with Facebook,
- 38:58Speaker 3: and I can't even get a call to somebody to
- 39:00Speaker 3: find out why my accounts get blocked. So it's I
- 39:02Speaker 3: basically do not spend any time with trying to make
- 39:05Speaker 3: money on social anymore. Just too odd. I don't know
- 39:07Speaker 3: why they've done what they've done, but I mean, back
- 39:09Speaker 3: when we had fifty thousand followers, we made more sales
- 39:13Speaker 3: from Facebook than we do now with ten million. And
- 39:16Speaker 3: I'm not even slightly exaggerating. We used to do so
- 39:19Speaker 3: back when we were doing like small trinks like it's
- 39:21Speaker 3: great for selling products that don't require so instant purchases
- 39:27Speaker 3: where people aren't thinking about them. So we would post
- 39:31Speaker 3: up say a sticker or like just viral products like
- 39:35Speaker 3: cool key rings. It had like a turbo yeah, so
- 39:38Speaker 3: we had that yeah, And they're like toys that are
- 39:40Speaker 3: stuffed turbo charges and stuff. So those were like a
- 39:44Speaker 3: cool little things. I would go, I'd leave my office
- 39:47Speaker 3: and then I'd post it and my little game would
- 39:50Speaker 3: be between the time I'd leave my office and the
- 39:52Speaker 3: time I get home, see how many we'd sell. And
- 39:54Speaker 3: we'd sometimes have had thirty or three hundred individual sales
- 39:58Speaker 3: in an hour, and we only I had fifty thousand followers.
- 40:02Speaker 3: And now I could post something up there, we might
- 40:04Speaker 3: get three likes and zero sales. With ten million followers,
- 40:07Speaker 3: it's just impossible to break through without paying and even
- 40:11Speaker 3: and now I can't even physically pay because they won't
- 40:14Speaker 3: take my money. So I don't know what Zuck and
- 40:16Speaker 3: the crew are doing.
- 40:17Speaker 2: Suck's making Did you see the stretched kN.
- 40:21Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I saw that today, the minivan.
- 40:23Speaker 4: It's like what I think he's He's changing his Personah.
- 40:27Speaker 3: Yeah, I saw he hired a marketing company change. Did
- 40:29Speaker 3: you see that that video had the audio taken away?
- 40:32Speaker 4: Oh?
- 40:32Speaker 2: Really? The audio got beat the irony fucking.
- 40:36Speaker 3: And it was like really poor quality video as well.
- 40:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:39Speaker 4: I really just don't get what's going on there. And
- 40:42Speaker 4: they take so much money from advertising and they just
- 40:45Speaker 4: do not care.
- 40:47Speaker 3: The more difficult part about it is they have a
- 40:49Speaker 3: monopoly over it. So at least we used to do
- 40:51Speaker 3: all sorts of marketing back before Facebook. Was even really
- 40:54Speaker 3: a big player in the marketing side of things. We
- 40:56Speaker 3: would say we used to see a lot of things
- 40:58Speaker 3: like hid conversions for cars, and so the staff would
- 41:02Speaker 3: spend some time looking for who uses the H three bulb.
- 41:05Speaker 3: And then what we do is we go to different forums.
- 41:07Speaker 3: So there's like Corvette Forum and a super forum or whatever,
- 41:11Speaker 3: and then we'd go on there. And because we were
- 41:13Speaker 3: too cheap, we didn't want to be paying for sponsorship
- 41:15Speaker 3: with the forum. So we just create a profile, sit
- 41:18Speaker 3: on it for a couple of weeks and go, hey, guys,
- 41:19Speaker 3: I've bought these headlights from the Street Effects Company. Does
- 41:23Speaker 3: anyone know what they're like? Right? And so we're just
- 41:25Speaker 3: like Gorilla marketing Techtics, And that way we'd get the
- 41:28Speaker 3: word out, we get our site, and we'd get a
- 41:30Speaker 3: bunch of sales, and then we'd eventually get banned. We'd
- 41:32Speaker 3: moved on to the next forum. Right, can't do that.
- 41:34Speaker 3: You get banned on Facebook, your life's over. As far
- 41:36Speaker 3: as marketing goes, there's literally no competitors. So if you're
- 41:40Speaker 3: hind your business on Facebook, which happens with like whether
- 41:42Speaker 3: it be YouTube, Facebook, Google, any of these things, at
- 41:46Speaker 3: least some of those Google ones are a little bit
- 41:47Speaker 3: more fair because you've got ability to complain to somebody
- 41:51Speaker 3: and try and get unbanned as long as you're not
- 41:52Speaker 3: doing anything illegal, whereas with Facebook, the judge, jury, and executioner,
- 41:58Speaker 3: there is no way judged.
- 42:00Speaker 2: Yeah, and she's she's a crazy bitch.
- 42:02Speaker 3: Yeah. So I've just found that that's to be like,
- 42:06Speaker 3: at least previously you just skip between platforms, and now
- 42:10Speaker 3: what you go to Instagram, you can't even do that.
- 42:13Speaker 3: You can't you can't go to anywhere.
- 42:15Speaker 2: So it's it's it's grim.
- 42:17Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm looking at Zack's stupid little Porscha minivan right now,
- 42:21Speaker 1: the Porsche Coyne Turbo GT miniv that looks ridiculously.
- 42:25Speaker 2: But have look at his clothes.
- 42:26Speaker 4: He's got like gold chain and mate wakeboarding and stuff
- 42:31Speaker 4: like that. Even when he was going to American What
- 42:33Speaker 4: happened to that, to that fight he was going to
- 42:36Speaker 4: have with.
- 42:38Speaker 2: Yeah, no, it was meant to be with Elon, that's it. Yeah,
- 42:41Speaker 2: what happened to that?
- 42:42Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 42:43Speaker 1: I think Zack's superpower, if you like, was judo or
- 42:47Speaker 1: some some martial arts.
- 42:48Speaker 2: Yeah, he was like karate or something.
- 42:51Speaker 3: Yeah, and everyone was saying like Elon's built like a
- 42:54Speaker 3: re refrigerator.
- 42:57Speaker 4: It's just the weirdest ship. Two billionaires just slap each other.
- 43:00Speaker 4: I mean, I'd pay to watch that, should watch that,
- 43:04Speaker 4: but you would be disturbing.
- 43:06Speaker 1: Shit, who's Tyson about to fight again? That's Joe Logan,
- 43:10Speaker 1: Paul No, Jake Paul yep Jake Jake Paul. Yeah.
- 43:15Speaker 3: I thought they called that off as well because he
- 43:17Speaker 3: was sick.
- 43:17Speaker 2: But I think they postponed back on.
- 43:19Speaker 1: Yeah, it's happening in November. That'd be wild. I don't
- 43:22Speaker 1: even know why they called that. They should really just
- 43:23Speaker 1: call that. I'm not even a boxing match.
- 43:25Speaker 2: I guess it's an elder abuse.
- 43:28Speaker 4: All right. So Mark's gonna let us know what this
- 43:31Speaker 4: Bathurst story is for the next episode. But if you
- 43:34Speaker 4: have any questions that he can also answer for the
- 43:36Speaker 4: next episode, because we put these up too late for
- 43:38Speaker 4: people to ask answer question on social contact at the
- 43:42Speaker 4: Drivers Show dot Com, todau where can they go to
- 43:45Speaker 4: find you? On socials?
- 43:46Speaker 3: Mark like just Mark Truno on Insta has a lot
- 43:50Speaker 3: of my just sort of personal adventures and stuff. Otherwise
- 43:54Speaker 3: for the company just Street Effects on Facebook, Insta, and
- 43:58Speaker 3: I think I'm banned on TikTok. I've got my personal
- 44:01Speaker 3: one on teaktok at that company one got banned.
- 44:02Speaker 1: I think you're gott to put your tits away. Man,
- 44:05Speaker 1: you're really going to stop doing that.
- 44:07Speaker 3: I mean he pays me touch.
- 44:08Speaker 2: Yeah, that's it. I mean he's only fan.
- 44:11Speaker 4: And yeah, if you're listening to this and you do
- 44:14Speaker 4: have any other sort of standard car questions, contact at
- 44:16Speaker 4: the Drivers Show dot com today you and if you
- 44:18Speaker 4: haven't done so already, leave us a rating on whichever
- 44:20Speaker 4: podcast platform you're listening to this on so that we
- 44:23Speaker 4: can we can get the ratings up.
- 44:26Speaker 2: Anything else, Gordy, No.
- 44:28Speaker 1: Not really. We'll have a chat in a sack. We've
- 44:31Speaker 1: got to finish the episode properly. By the way. I
- 44:33Speaker 1: did see. I did see that awesome footage of the
- 44:36Speaker 1: Was it the foot plate that came out of her?
- 44:38Speaker 1: Was it your GTA ah.
- 44:39Speaker 3: The GDR on the on the track?
- 44:42Speaker 1: Yeah, that's crazy. That was a very fast and furious moment.
- 44:46Speaker 3: Yeah. Like, I'm glad that it didn't hit anybody because
- 44:49Speaker 3: that I mean, they were already that's like I think
- 44:50Speaker 3: it's I've had to spend fifteen grand to fix that
- 44:53Speaker 3: little debique. That's incredible, and it's I'm not going to
- 44:56Speaker 3: have the past fixed until next month November. I don't
- 45:00Speaker 3: fly them in. I went to go get a car
- 45:01Speaker 3: yesterday and I hope that I can at least drive
- 45:02Speaker 3: it without that part. But it's all in pieces.
- 45:05Speaker 2: That is a no.
- 45:06Speaker 1: I do have one quick question, actually, just before you
- 45:07Speaker 1: walk out the door. Is there something coming out coming
- 45:10Speaker 1: to Australia that you're kind of intrigued by or you're
- 45:13Speaker 1: excited by. Pablo's got his hands on it already, probably,
- 45:16Speaker 1: but I'm looking forward to the Mustang dark Horse for instance, Like,
- 45:19Speaker 1: is there something that you're looking forward to see.
- 45:21Speaker 3: I don't know if this is true or not. Paul
- 45:23Speaker 3: mon't be able to tell me the the hind Day
- 45:27Speaker 3: concept thing. Apparently that's actually been.
- 45:30Speaker 2: Envision seventy four.
- 45:31Speaker 4: Yeah, they keep coming in and going with the green
- 45:34Speaker 4: light like it's it's a fault to drive if that
- 45:37Speaker 4: was the same. Yeah, because it's an awesome car, but
- 45:40Speaker 4: I don't know whether it's Yeah, really I drive it.
- 45:44Speaker 2: Well, it's it's basically an electric car.
- 45:46Speaker 4: Yeah, so it's it's it's the electricity power train, or
- 45:49Speaker 4: at least similar power train to what the what is
- 45:52Speaker 4: the Ionic five end?
- 45:54Speaker 2: Yeah, it's kind of different.
- 45:55Speaker 4: It's got two electric motors on the rear instead of
- 45:58Speaker 4: a single motor drive yep. And then it's got two
- 46:01Speaker 4: hydrogen tanks and then something like a ninety kilo with
- 46:04Speaker 4: our battery. So hydrogen tanks have a like a stack,
- 46:09Speaker 4: and then they supply energy to the battery system. Battery
- 46:13Speaker 4: system is what's driving the rear wheels the battery.
- 46:16Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 46:17Speaker 4: So it's a fascinating thing and it goes like shit
- 46:19Speaker 4: off a shovel. But yeah, being real driver wouldn't probably
- 46:24Speaker 4: hold a candle to the Ironic five.
- 46:26Speaker 2: Then it doesn't.
- 46:27Speaker 4: But there's so much weight over the rear, Like all
- 46:29Speaker 4: the tanks are right at the back, so you've got
- 46:31Speaker 4: a lot of weight holding it down.
- 46:33Speaker 3: It's like the Mr twos were great off the line.
- 46:35Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, you just had a lot of Yeah, I
- 46:38Speaker 4: don't know. I think it'd be cool. It'd just be
- 46:39Speaker 4: expensive like that.
- 46:40Speaker 3: That stuff is over two hundred.
- 46:43Speaker 2: I reckon it.
- 46:44Speaker 4: Yeah, Wow, I reckon it'd be worth every set bloody Earth.
- 46:47Speaker 2: It's so cool. Yeah, I love it and its looks
- 46:49Speaker 2: of amazing.
- 46:50Speaker 1: It has a sound to it too, doesn't It actually
- 46:52Speaker 1: has a sound. I remembery watching the videos. It does
- 46:54Speaker 1: make like a turbine sound.
- 46:57Speaker 4: Yeah, but it's there's a lot of cooling and then
- 46:59Speaker 4: stuff because it's I don't know if it was just
- 47:01Speaker 4: very much a prototype that we were driving, but yeah,
- 47:04Speaker 4: there was a lot of calling and.
- 47:05Speaker 3: They made more than one or is it just I
- 47:07Speaker 3: think they.
- 47:07Speaker 4: Have but I think officially there's not not like a
- 47:10Speaker 4: production line of them. They're all handbuilt sort of prototypes.
- 47:14Speaker 4: But yeah, he was good.
- 47:16Speaker 1: Hey, my search continues for a family car under eighty
- 47:20Speaker 1: thousand dollars, so I've been scouring the second hand market.
- 47:26Speaker 4: That's wrong with the Genesis?
- 47:27Speaker 1: Oh, the Genesis is great. The Gen's so supple. That
- 47:33Speaker 1: leather leather. I like to feel the little quilted leather
- 47:38Speaker 1: just as I hopy in and think this is supple,
- 47:41Speaker 1: and then I make my way to the salon.
- 47:44Speaker 3: My own Genesis.
- 47:47Speaker 1: Actually, you know what, I'll give you a bit of
- 47:48Speaker 1: an update on the Genesis, because you do get asked
- 47:50Speaker 1: for that. Two things that I wanted to bring out
- 47:53Speaker 1: that I remember were criticisms that you had and that
- 47:58Speaker 1: I had I guess as well going in this. The
- 48:00Speaker 1: first one was and the big one was the mirrors.
- 48:04Speaker 1: So the mirrors cameras, what else are they in? They're
- 48:08Speaker 1: in there. You get camera mirrors in.
- 48:09Speaker 2: The e Tron, E Tron five nine, et cetera.
- 48:15Speaker 1: I'm gonna say, not as shit as we first discussed.
- 48:19Speaker 1: I mean, going into it, A had limited knowledge and.
- 48:21Speaker 4: You won't convince me.
- 48:22Speaker 1: I'm telling you right now, like you don't need to
- 48:25Speaker 1: be convinced.
- 48:25Speaker 2: I don't care.
- 48:26Speaker 1: Fact is, there's two big things that make this make
- 48:29Speaker 1: these things shine through for me, and the first one
- 48:32Speaker 1: is visibility in the wet and the second one is
- 48:35Speaker 1: visibility at night. So when you're driving in the wet,
- 48:39Speaker 1: you're going to get rain on the side of your windows,
- 48:42Speaker 1: You're gonna get rain on the actual mirrors itself. You've
- 48:45Speaker 1: got to admit, Like fact is, you can't see anything.
- 48:48Speaker 1: The thing is, what these mirrors do so well is
- 48:50Speaker 1: effectively there's nothing that imped your vision at all with them.
- 48:54Speaker 1: The lighting is really good and also at nighttime, I
- 48:58Speaker 1: find they're fantastic at night time. I think you get
- 49:01Speaker 1: a lot of glare from traffic lights and other cars
- 49:04Speaker 1: and reflections of buildings and stuff like that. I find
- 49:08Speaker 1: that this illuminates really well. And I think it soaks
- 49:11Speaker 1: up a lot of light. So I think these things
- 49:13Speaker 1: do have a place. I think the cameras as a
- 49:15Speaker 1: side mirror do have a place because I think they
- 49:17Speaker 1: do improve vision like this, there's no argument with that. Yes,
- 49:21Speaker 1: is this early days in this sort of technology. It
- 49:23Speaker 1: is there are I get it. It's a clunky looking
- 49:26Speaker 1: thing and then you've got to worry about the screen
- 49:28Speaker 1: and if somebody knocks it when you're parking at a supermarket.
- 49:32Speaker 1: I get the cons, but I also get the pros
- 49:35Speaker 1: on these things too, so I don't think they're all bad. Yeah,
- 49:39Speaker 1: what was the other criticism we had? Other gear stick,
- 49:42Speaker 1: the Crystal in the middle crystal and the Genesis. For me,
- 49:47Speaker 1: it's neither here or there. I mean they could go
- 49:49Speaker 1: to a stalk like they do on a lot of
- 49:51Speaker 1: Yan day products, which I think works really well. And
- 49:53Speaker 1: to be honest, I mean, I think I've been driving
- 49:55Speaker 1: this thing for about four months now. I reckon, I'm
- 49:58Speaker 1: about halfway through my tender. It's fine. I think it works.
- 50:03Speaker 1: It's honestly, it works fine. And they do have that
- 50:08Speaker 1: sort of thing on a what is it on a
- 50:10Speaker 1: land range? Don't they have a circular thing on a
- 50:14Speaker 1: range rover.
- 50:15Speaker 4: But it doesn't spin like a crystal.
- 50:19Speaker 1: That's right, it doesn't spin like a crystal. Mine spins
- 50:24Speaker 1: like a crystal. Look, you're our two big gribes. I
- 50:31Speaker 1: feel were a little bit bit hard out, and I
- 50:35Speaker 1: think they're not as bad as I will say. On
- 50:38Speaker 1: the looks, I can't get over the look of it.
- 50:40Speaker 1: And I look and I will stand by. I think
- 50:42Speaker 1: this car is not designed for people like me and you.
- 50:46Speaker 1: This car is designed for somebody who has got a
- 50:51Speaker 1: lot of coin. No, not someone who's on their way
- 50:54Speaker 1: to the salon. They might want to go to the
- 50:56Speaker 1: nails done. This is that this is this is a
- 50:59Speaker 1: car designed for a classy person. Perhaps an old lady.
- 51:04Speaker 1: Tell you one thing I'm not loving. I'm not loving
- 51:06Speaker 1: at the moment. On this is the parking is. It's
- 51:10Speaker 1: got some work to do. It's got some work to do.
- 51:12Speaker 1: It's quite a wide cart and a shortcut. It's a
- 51:15Speaker 1: bit of a chod. It's a bit like you, and
- 51:18Speaker 1: it's the parking really is and its big plus. I'll
- 51:23Speaker 1: say that it's let itself down to that. But I
- 51:26Speaker 1: think the other gripes I had I've been wrong about anyway,
- 51:30Speaker 1: family car under eighty thousand dollars. I texted you the
- 51:32Speaker 1: other day, so what do you think about the X
- 51:34Speaker 1: three M forty I, Because I think I was looking
- 51:37Speaker 1: at a twenty twenty model. I'm not on Marrick money,
- 51:40Speaker 1: can't afford a brand NEWI.
- 51:42Speaker 4: But yeah, well it was a resounding yes for mine
- 51:46Speaker 4: because it is it is a weapon of a thing,
- 51:48Speaker 4: and it's not anywhere near as firm as an X
- 51:50Speaker 4: three M because that is just bone shattering, whereas an
- 51:54Speaker 4: M forty I is just a good balance between performance
- 51:56Speaker 4: and comfort as well.
- 51:57Speaker 1: What do you reckon the difference with that? And say
- 52:00Speaker 1: the three Series like the Sedan, like the room.
- 52:06Speaker 4: The three Series is very small, whereas the X three
- 52:08Speaker 4: feels much more spacious inside.
- 52:10Speaker 2: Yeah, but both great cars.
- 52:11Speaker 1: Though, Yeah, yeah, I really enjoyed it. Watch this space
- 52:14Speaker 1: on that Dealers aren't really willing to budge too much,
- 52:19Speaker 1: which is a bit of a shame, but I thought
- 52:21Speaker 1: that was pretty good. Oh my god, do you know what.
- 52:23Speaker 6: I don't know if I should say this publicly because
- 52:26Speaker 6: I'm going to cop a lot of crap at home,
- 52:29Speaker 6: but I think I've bought I think I finally bought
- 52:33Speaker 6: a Toyota Century.
- 52:35Speaker 2: Oh wow, what's why?
- 52:38Speaker 1: Quite cheap? Because it's a classy Japanese gangster car and
- 52:44Speaker 1: it's a V twelve that's why.
- 52:47Speaker 4: Ah, but quite cheap and a V twelve is sounds
- 52:50Speaker 4: like a bad combination.
- 52:51Speaker 1: Well, I sort of did a bit of research and
- 52:52Speaker 1: when we were talking to Mark earlier, those Toyota V
- 52:55Speaker 1: twelves are solid, like they really are. And when I
- 52:58Speaker 1: took this thing for a drive, I mean it's a
- 53:00Speaker 1: nineteen ninety four. Actually, I think it's a bit late.
- 53:03Speaker 1: I think it's a nineteen ninety eight. It feels really good.
- 53:07Speaker 1: Oh god, it feels good to tech in it. I'd
- 53:09Speaker 1: probably update a little bit, but yeah, damn it.
- 53:13Speaker 2: They are known for being super reliable.
- 53:15Speaker 1: Yeah, watch this space.
- 53:16Speaker 2: Interesting, watch this space.
- 53:18Speaker 1: That could be a DILF very soon on the scene.
- 53:23Speaker 2: Though.
- 53:23Speaker 1: It's weird because I've been because I've been looking into
- 53:26Speaker 1: the Toyota Century. I've been doing like a little bit
- 53:29Speaker 1: of research, and I ran into this company. It admits
- 53:32Speaker 1: to I don't know too much about them, so I
- 53:33Speaker 1: contacted them and they're going to send us some product.
- 53:36Speaker 1: They're a Japanese motor oil company.
- 53:38Speaker 2: Oh watch out. Yeah, a bit of lubricant, A little
- 53:40Speaker 2: bit of lubricant, bit of I like it.
- 53:42Speaker 1: Japanese nanotailored oil coming our way.
- 53:45Speaker 2: I'm really looking for lubricant. Interesting.
- 53:48Speaker 1: I don't know too much about this product, but from
- 53:50Speaker 1: what I know, it's it's oil tailored especially for Japanese
- 53:53Speaker 1: high precision engines. So look out, we're gonna get some
- 53:56Speaker 1: some oil coming our way to test you.
- 53:58Speaker 2: That'd be nice, sounds I like it.
- 54:00Speaker 1: I called you last night to tell you we're recording
- 54:03Speaker 1: and thinking he's probably staying in bloody elbows spare bedroom,
- 54:06Speaker 1: but you're in your cheap hotel room covered in red
- 54:09Speaker 1: roosterh my god.
- 54:10Speaker 2: Yeah, and that wasn't even the worst part.
- 54:15Speaker 1: I don't want to know, actually I do, but yes.
- 54:21Speaker 4: Yeah, if you're still listening to this by some bizarre chans,
- 54:30Speaker 4: oh my.
- 54:30Speaker 1: God, please put it away. Put it away.
- 54:38Speaker 2: Grim.
- 54:39Speaker 4: If you're still listening to this, contact at the Driver's
- 54:41Speaker 4: Show dot com today, you shoot us a note. I
- 54:43Speaker 4: spoke to Mark on the way out. He has promised. Well,
- 54:47Speaker 4: he told me the thing that he wasn't allowed to say.
- 54:49Speaker 2: And it is huge. Wow, So it is crazy.
- 54:54Speaker 1: Wait till barthest is over.
- 54:56Speaker 4: Yes, because it depends on who wins. If this and wins,
- 55:01Speaker 4: he's going to be able to talk about it because
- 55:02Speaker 4: the story is just, yeah, some crazy stuff I've never
- 55:06Speaker 4: heard before, So I can't say anything else.
- 55:09Speaker 1: Could this change if this particular car brand wins, could
- 55:13Speaker 1: this change the outcome of Bathurst or perhaps no, no.
- 55:18Speaker 4: No, let's just say that if he didn't do what
- 55:21Speaker 4: he did, this very big brand would not be able
- 55:27Speaker 4: to do anything on the weekend, as in their cars
- 55:29Speaker 4: wouldn't work. It is huge.
- 55:31Speaker 2: So yeah, watch this space, we'll see what happens.
- 55:34Speaker 4: But yeah, my plans for Bathurst Day Each year, I
- 55:37Speaker 4: catch up with mates, sink a few tins, et cetera.
- 55:42Speaker 2: Lads, lads, lads.
- 55:44Speaker 3: Send a few tins.
- 55:45Speaker 4: Yeah, slap a Donnor on the barbie.
- 55:50Speaker 1: On the barbie, yes you did? She feeding everybody this year.
- 55:58Speaker 2: But yeah, so that's what I'm doing.
- 56:01Speaker 1: Couch, that's not a couch, A gigantic woman, said Dylan.
- 56:08Speaker 2: Fring with chicken.
- 56:09Speaker 1: Put your feet on the douvet. That's not a duvet, madam.
- 56:16Speaker 1: If you've got some sort of feet to you, Darlan
- 56:19Speaker 1: puts put your feet up on the puff.
- 56:21Speaker 3: There.
- 56:24Speaker 1: I'm sinking at this couch. I can't get out. I'm sinking,
- 56:28Speaker 1: getting me down.
- 56:31Speaker 7: That's oh my god, fucking it all right.
- 56:42Speaker 1: Thank you everyone.
- 56:43Speaker 4: We will chat to you, you will hear us next time.
- 56:47Speaker 4: So
