- 0:04Speaker 1: Our number two here on the Craigway Show on Sports
- 0:07Speaker 1: Radio AM thirteen hundred the Zone.
- 0:09Speaker 2: My name is Craig Gay.
- 0:10Speaker 1: Glad to have you with us, and for a while
- 0:16Speaker 1: here we have a little substitute going on. I'm going
- 0:20Speaker 1: to the bullpen.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Listen.
- 0:21Speaker 1: If the Dodgers could use eight pitchers last night, including
- 0:23Speaker 1: Walker Muller a starter to close it out, we can
- 0:27Speaker 1: go to the pen as well. Cameron Parker will be
- 0:30Speaker 1: back during the four o'clock hour. He's getting some things
- 0:33Speaker 1: organized for our Longhorn weekly basketball preview show with Rodney Terry.
- 0:39Speaker 1: That'll come you away from Pluckers the West Campus location
- 0:42Speaker 1: at six o'clock live here on the Zone. If you
- 0:46Speaker 1: want to show up out there, that's great. We'd love
- 0:49Speaker 1: to see you. We'll take some questions if you want
- 0:51Speaker 1: to write those down on the cards they provide there.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Enjoy great wings and hear from Rodney Terry that's coming
- 0:58Speaker 1: up at six o'clock. Cameron's getting some things organized for that.
- 1:01Speaker 1: He'll be back with us in the four o'clock hour. However,
- 1:04Speaker 1: we do go to the pen or to bring on
- 1:07Speaker 1: our sixth man since we're all in the basketball season
- 1:09Speaker 1: now as well. That's Andrew Zimmel, who hails from the
- 1:12Speaker 1: Alamo City. But now he's back up here.
- 1:14Speaker 3: How are you You know how dangerous is to have
- 1:15Speaker 3: a nice lefty out of the bullpen that I'm telling him?
- 1:18Speaker 1: The Dodgers had two when they activated Anthony Bonda to
- 1:24Speaker 1: be out of the Alex VESSI got healthy again, and
- 1:27Speaker 1: they had both of those guys. But they just had
- 1:29Speaker 1: two lefties in the pen for the World Series. But
- 1:32Speaker 1: they burned through all of all those arms last night,
- 1:35Speaker 1: and it took some tough, gritty, gutty work from Blake
- 1:39Speaker 1: Trining in the seventh and eighth to get him through that,
- 1:44Speaker 1: and then and then Buehler coming.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Out to pitch the night. I forget, what is your
- 1:48Speaker 2: favorite team?
- 1:49Speaker 3: So I grew up a Twins fan. I right for
- 1:50Speaker 3: the Yankees when they were playing the Astros all those years,
- 1:53Speaker 3: so I had a little.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Bit of a Yankee rooting interest.
- 1:56Speaker 3: But let me tell you, Craig, I was so happy
- 1:58Speaker 3: when you got to win, because that's what I thought
- 2:00Speaker 3: when when the Dodgers won it, I thought, Craig Way
- 2:02Speaker 3: gets a win, and that's what we want.
- 2:04Speaker 1: Well, thanks, I appreciate that. It was a lot of fun.
- 2:07Speaker 1: And as I mentioned last hour, I watched somewhere in
- 2:11Speaker 1: the neighborhood one hundred and ten other games this year.
- 2:14Speaker 1: So I feel fully vested as a fan and fully
- 2:18Speaker 1: invested and happy for them and doing that. But it's
- 2:22Speaker 1: gonna be interesting to see what happens going forward around
- 2:24Speaker 1: Major League Baseball for the Astros, for the Rangers, for
- 2:27Speaker 1: the Yankees, for the Dodgers, for all of those teams,
- 2:30Speaker 1: to see how they do for next year.
- 2:31Speaker 2: We'll talk more about that with Geene Watson coming up.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Okay, you are obviously completely ensconced in all things San
- 2:40Speaker 1: Antonio Spurs. While there was a World Series game last night,
- 2:45Speaker 1: and while you normally get to bed relatively early because
- 2:48Speaker 1: of your morning duties there at the big one there
- 2:51Speaker 1: at Wai, did you.
- 2:53Speaker 3: Happen to catch Spurs thunder last night? I caught the
- 2:56Speaker 3: first quarter of Spurs thunder last night, and.
- 2:58Speaker 2: That was probably all you needed to see, was and I, yeah,
- 3:01Speaker 2: kind of.
- 3:01Speaker 3: It was tough because before that game, I don't know
- 3:03Speaker 3: if you saw the report that Victor wimen Yama just
- 3:05Speaker 3: doesn't even say Chet's name, and I was thinking, oh,
- 3:07Speaker 3: we're going to get a big man versus big man battle,
- 3:10Speaker 3: and that's.
- 3:10Speaker 2: Not what happened. No, no, it did, it didn't. It
- 3:14Speaker 2: didn't happen that that way.
- 3:18Speaker 1: And really and truly it was Logan's Dort who had
- 3:22Speaker 1: the game high lou Dor, Yeah, yeah, so so Dort
- 3:25Speaker 1: with twenty. Harrison Barnes had eighteen for the Spurs. You know,
- 3:29Speaker 1: when we had Bill shutting on last week, he said
- 3:31Speaker 1: he was looking forward to seeing what Barnes would be
- 3:33Speaker 1: able to give to the Spurs this year.
- 3:34Speaker 3: You know, it's funny me and Showing are like two
- 3:37Speaker 3: twins of mine, because when it was announced that he
- 3:39Speaker 3: was coming with the Spurs, I like him played basketball
- 3:42Speaker 3: unc I enjoyed him when he was with the Warriors.
- 3:44Speaker 3: I thought he was gonna add something. I liked him
- 3:46Speaker 3: with the Mavericks. He looks good, He's okay, he's that bad.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Of course.
- 3:49Speaker 1: You know, body saying that you and Schoning are like
- 3:51Speaker 1: twins that insults both of you at the same time.
- 3:54Speaker 1: I just just want you to know that, But that's
- 3:56Speaker 1: that's okay. Early on, been kind of weird to see
- 4:01Speaker 1: what's going on with the Sixers. They get one hundred
- 4:02Speaker 1: thousand dollars fine for not properly characterizing the the status
- 4:09Speaker 1: of Joe l Embid, although the league didn't deny that
- 4:14Speaker 1: he needed to miss the first three games.
- 4:16Speaker 3: It's weird because he played the Olympics and now the
- 4:19Speaker 3: season the thing that pays his bills, and he's like,
- 4:21Speaker 3: I don't really want to can't go.
- 4:23Speaker 2: He can go, he can't go. Paul George can't go. Uh.
- 4:27Speaker 1: And the Pistons just kind of worked them last night.
- 4:31Speaker 1: Jay and Ivy had a good Bay. He's he's been
- 4:33Speaker 1: really good for them, and Kate Cunningham also has been.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Really really good for them early on.
- 4:39Speaker 1: So it's gonna be interesting to say, Mavericks play the
- 4:41Speaker 1: Rockets tonight in Dallas and then the Spurs on the
- 4:45Speaker 1: back to back are in Salt Lake to play a
- 4:49Speaker 1: struggling Utah Jazz team.
- 4:52Speaker 2: Right now, they're oh to four. I just don't look
- 4:55Speaker 2: back to packs.
- 4:56Speaker 3: I every time my team plays it back to back,
- 4:58Speaker 3: I kind of just chalk it up youngest team of
- 4:59Speaker 3: the the Spurs. Yeah, so maybe they have young legs,
- 5:02Speaker 3: but I don't know, man, I always get nervous on those,
- 5:04Speaker 3: especially after a game last like last night.
- 5:07Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, that's why I thought that the Mavericks
- 5:12Speaker 1: what was it Sunday night on the back to back
- 5:13Speaker 1: against Minnesota when they went in and played so well
- 5:15Speaker 1: and Luca had that incredible three near the end and
- 5:18Speaker 1: all that, And that was a back to back and
- 5:19Speaker 1: they didn't get into Minneapolis until like six point thirty
- 5:22Speaker 1: in the morning on Sunday.
- 5:23Speaker 2: You never know with certain teams how they're gonna do well.
- 5:26Speaker 3: I think they've had blood there too, you know what
- 5:28Speaker 3: I mean? I think that between yeah, Dallas and Minnesota. Yeah,
- 5:31Speaker 3: a little bit.
- 5:31Speaker 1: From the playoff last year. Yeah, absolutely, all right, Well,
- 5:34Speaker 1: we'll get to some more NBA later. Up next, a
- 5:37Speaker 1: recap not only of the World Series, but of the
- 5:40Speaker 1: twenty twenty four baseball season overall. What's to come with
- 5:44Speaker 1: also the with the off season, what's to happen? We'll
- 5:49Speaker 1: visit with Gene Watson, our MLB insider from the Chicago
- 5:52Speaker 1: White Sox front office. That's up next when we continue
- 5:55Speaker 1: here on this Thursday afternoon on Sports Radio AM thirteen
- 5:58Speaker 1: under the Zone and where you can always listeners for
- 6:00Speaker 1: free on the iHeartRadio app.
