Transcript
- 0:02Speaker 1: We have Trevor Rodgers joining us.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Yeah, thanks for having me on. It's good to be
- 0:06Speaker 2: with you guys for a little bit.
- 0:08Speaker 1: Talk to some shop, dude, you are dealing. How fun
- 0:11Speaker 1: has it been for you during these last couple of months.
- 0:15Speaker 2: It's been been a lot of fun, you know, you know,
- 0:19Speaker 2: just really just getting back to, you know, the way
- 0:22Speaker 2: that I've always thought that I could throw the ball
- 0:25Speaker 2: consistently and just you know, help my team and help
- 0:29Speaker 2: this organization win every time I'm out there. So it's
- 0:32Speaker 2: been a lot of fun here recently.
- 0:36Speaker 3: Did you think it was gonna happen right away when
- 0:38Speaker 3: you went over to the Orioles last year?
- 0:39Speaker 4: When you get.
- 0:40Speaker 3: Traded over, you're like, perfect, I'm the guy that's gonna
- 0:44Speaker 3: take this Orioles team to the Promised Land. And it
- 0:46Speaker 3: didn't happen right away. Did you think it was going
- 0:49Speaker 3: to like make that change or was the transition from
- 0:54Speaker 3: the Marlins to the Orioles tougher than what people think, Oh,
- 0:58Speaker 3: you you're just traded, You just get different color cleats.
- 1:02Speaker 4: Yeah, it was a lot tougher than what people realize.
- 1:05Speaker 4: You know.
- 1:05Speaker 2: With Miami, we kind of had a really really bad
- 1:08Speaker 2: year from the previous year, and you know, they were
- 1:11Speaker 2: going in a different direction, and you know, again traded
- 1:15Speaker 2: to a first place team and the al least probably
- 1:18Speaker 2: one of the best divisions in baseball, just put a
- 1:21Speaker 2: bunch of unwanted pressure on myself. I just thought I
- 1:26Speaker 2: had to go out there and throw a score of
- 1:28Speaker 2: outing every single time out. And I kind of went
- 1:31Speaker 2: the opposite direction, and you know, you know, got sent down.
- 1:35Speaker 2: And I think, looking back now and where I'm at now,
- 1:38Speaker 2: I think it was a blessing in disguise. Really really
- 1:42Speaker 2: had to take kind of a good, long, hard look
- 1:45Speaker 2: at myself and make some changes if I wanted to
- 1:47Speaker 2: play this game. You know that I love for a
- 1:49Speaker 2: long time, and I think it was the best decision
- 1:53Speaker 2: at the time.
- 1:55Speaker 5: Yeah, adversity, man, it's a tough pill to swallow, but
- 1:59Speaker 5: at the same time, once you come out of it,
- 2:00Speaker 5: you understand, you know why, and you know what the
- 2:04Speaker 5: purpose was. But my question to you for this oriole team, now,
- 2:09Speaker 5: what's going to get them back over the hump?
- 2:10Speaker 2: Man?
- 2:11Speaker 5: I mean, this is a really good organization, a really
- 2:13Speaker 5: good team. I've I've talked about it all the time.
- 2:16Speaker 5: I know the injuries are mounting up but what can
- 2:19Speaker 5: get them back.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a good question. I I don't think it's
- 2:25Speaker 2: the lack of talent. I'll put our lineup against every
- 2:28Speaker 2: lineup in baseball and we'll have a really good chance
- 2:32Speaker 2: avoiding that whatever day it is. I think probably the
- 2:39Speaker 2: biggest thing is all of you guys have heard it.
- 2:42Speaker 2: You can't lose or you can't win a division in
- 2:45Speaker 2: April and May, but you can lose it. I think
- 2:49Speaker 2: we just had such a slow start this year that
- 2:52Speaker 2: you know, we got in such a big hole and.
- 2:55Speaker 4: It was just really tough for us to climb out of.
- 2:57Speaker 2: And you know, I think all of us, you know,
- 3:00Speaker 2: we're pretty pretty young team, very talented team, but I
- 3:03Speaker 2: think we're gonna have to make that next step as
- 3:06Speaker 2: far as you know, putting our big boy pants on.
- 3:08Speaker 2: You know, with a lot of the veterans we're trade
- 3:10Speaker 2: away at the deadline this year, and we still have
- 3:13Speaker 2: a really solid young course. I think we're all gonna
- 3:16Speaker 2: have to make that next step going forward and just
- 3:20Speaker 2: knowing that we don't want this to happen next year
- 3:23Speaker 2: and really just putting in the work the rest of
- 3:26Speaker 2: this year and going into the offseason and really just
- 3:30Speaker 2: try to maintain the culture that they've built.
- 3:32Speaker 4: Here the past two years going forward.
- 3:36Speaker 3: Do you hear that from other guys? Do you hear
- 3:37Speaker 3: that from other guys in the locker room? I know,
- 3:40Speaker 3: pitchers and position players don't necessarily mix all the time,
- 3:44Speaker 3: but you're all young guys who are pushing hopefully towards
- 3:47Speaker 3: the same goal. But do you hear guys talk about that, like,
- 3:52Speaker 3: screw this year, We're gonna go out and win. We're
- 3:54Speaker 3: going to get back to what we were and the
- 3:57Speaker 3: expectation that everybody had for us.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Yeah, one hundred percent. I could definitely say some guys are,
- 4:04Speaker 2: you know, say how it is pissed off the way
- 4:07Speaker 2: this year is gone because it's not the standard of
- 4:10Speaker 2: Orioles baseball. We expect a lot more. We expect to,
- 4:14Speaker 2: you know, compete in the toughest division in baseball and
- 4:17Speaker 2: and be up there where the you know, the Blue Jays,
- 4:19Speaker 2: the Red Sox are at this year and even the Yankees. So, yeah,
- 4:24Speaker 2: guys aren't happy about it, but you know, you got
- 4:26Speaker 2: to accept where we are and make the best of
- 4:28Speaker 2: the situation this year and really just play our asses
- 4:32Speaker 2: off the rest of this year and going into next year,
- 4:35Speaker 2: just to make sure this this feeling, you know, playing
- 4:38Speaker 2: coming into September and not playing meaningful baseball doesn't happen again.
- 4:43Speaker 3: Who gets the most pissed off? I feel like watching
- 4:46Speaker 3: the watching the games, I feel like one guy has
- 4:48Speaker 3: a little bit more of a temper than other guys.
- 4:51Speaker 3: But who gets the most pissed off? And we'll call
- 4:53Speaker 3: guys out? And I'm not saying call guys out in
- 4:55Speaker 3: the sense that some people think like good constructive, like
- 4:59Speaker 3: let's get it going boys.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean if some guys are better at hiding
- 5:07Speaker 2: it than others, but I mean everyone from top down.
- 5:10Speaker 2: You know, Gunner's very passionate, Wes Westbrook's very passionate, Jackson,
- 5:15Speaker 2: I mean addly Mounie. I mean, it keeps going on,
- 5:19Speaker 2: even the starting rotation. You know, they're not happy the
- 5:22Speaker 2: way this season has gone. The coaching staff isn't But
- 5:26Speaker 2: you know, you can look at two ways. You can
- 5:28Speaker 2: moan and groan about how the season is not gone
- 5:30Speaker 2: the way we wanted, or we can make the best
- 5:32Speaker 2: of the opportunity ahead of us and keep playing hard,
- 5:36Speaker 2: meaningful baseball, playing for each other each and every day
- 5:39Speaker 2: until the last game is said, and done. So you know,
- 5:42Speaker 2: guys aren't happy, but you know they use that to
- 5:46Speaker 2: their advantage. You know, we got a lot of intense
- 5:48Speaker 2: guys that love playing the game, and you know, it's
- 5:51Speaker 2: really just fun watching watching those guys compete every day.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Hey, Trevor, let's go back to the trade for a moment.
- 5:59Speaker 1: So you get moved from the Marlins, and they weren't
- 6:02Speaker 1: really in contention. Of course, Oils are looking to do damage.
- 6:05Speaker 1: They make the playoffs last year, and it was a
- 6:07Speaker 1: battle for you to get back to where you are now,
- 6:09Speaker 1: and now you're thriving. Did you look at the trade
- 6:13Speaker 1: and then kind of put extra on yourself and be like, hey,
- 6:16Speaker 1: they gave up some pretty good players here, they're starting
- 6:19Speaker 1: caliber players. One has become an All Star and Kyle Sowers, Like,
- 6:22Speaker 1: was anything like that on your mind? And also, just
- 6:24Speaker 1: take me through the trade in general, moving over from
- 6:26Speaker 1: Miami to Baltimore and what changed.
- 6:30Speaker 2: Yeah, I didn't really think about it at the time,
- 6:33Speaker 2: because you know, I was so worried, you know, I
- 6:36Speaker 2: got to have results, got to do this, got to
- 6:38Speaker 2: do that. And when I got traded over and I
- 6:42Speaker 2: wasn't doing what I knew that I could do, for
- 6:45Speaker 2: this organization. And I saw what Stours and Norby were doing.
- 6:50Speaker 2: And you know, I've obviously played in Miami for four years.
- 6:55Speaker 2: It's not a very hit or friendly park. And to
- 6:58Speaker 2: see what those guys were doing this, like, holy cow,
- 7:01Speaker 2: that's impressive. So it put a lot of unwanted pressure
- 7:06Speaker 2: as far as like, oh, I got to make sure
- 7:08Speaker 2: this this trade wasn't a bust, and and and just
- 7:12Speaker 2: so on and so forth. You know, just a lot
- 7:14Speaker 2: of outside noise that I was listening to that. You know,
- 7:17Speaker 2: I've made a better adjustment this year just tossing all
- 7:21Speaker 2: that out. My bubble is really small, so yeah, I
- 7:26Speaker 2: saw that and really kind of just changed my mindset
- 7:32Speaker 2: and outlook on this year, you know, just controlling what
- 7:34Speaker 2: I can control and really just go out and execute pitches.
- 7:40Speaker 2: And you know, just and I've said it again, I'll
- 7:43Speaker 2: say it again, just showing what the organization, uh, just
- 7:47Speaker 2: show them what I can do.
- 7:50Speaker 4: Okay, KP.
- 7:51Speaker 1: This is your first arena club experience. We're gonna open
- 7:53Speaker 1: a slab pack together. So first off, we're gonna buy
- 7:56Speaker 1: one of those twenty five dollars slab packs and we
- 7:58Speaker 1: get to see what is in the past there. It
- 8:00Speaker 1: is the grail, which is the best card in the
- 8:03Speaker 1: pack and worth the most. There are some other cards
- 8:06Speaker 1: that we're chasing, and you can see the entire lineup
- 8:08Speaker 1: so that you know what you're in the running for.
- 8:10Speaker 1: There's the Yamamoto signed card. Now let's open up our
- 8:14Speaker 1: pack and see how we do. We have ourselves a
- 8:19Speaker 1: really cool graphic and then a show. Hey o, Tani,
- 8:25Speaker 1: fifty to fifty card from last year, what do you
- 8:27Speaker 1: want to do? Should we sell it right back to
- 8:29Speaker 1: them for sixteen or should we keep it?
- 8:32Speaker 4: You should give it to me, I'll.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Keep good answer, fine, I will give it to you.
- 8:37Speaker 1: Since the Blue Jays didn't getto Tani, you can get
- 8:39Speaker 1: this fifty to fifty card instead and use the code
- 8:42Speaker 1: foul foul to get yourself twenty percent off your first
- 8:45Speaker 1: slab pack or card purchase. Yes, you get to keep
- 8:47Speaker 1: that card if you want it. They send it to
- 8:49Speaker 1: you foul at Arena Club dot com slash foul.
- 8:53Speaker 3: It's gotta be trust. It's got to be trust because
- 8:55Speaker 3: you sound like your mindset is just completely different. Because
- 9:00Speaker 3: if you look back at your triple A numbers from
- 9:02Speaker 3: this year, nobody would have expected this take us through that,
- 9:07Speaker 3: Take us through that because some people look, some people
- 9:10Speaker 3: have never played. Look solely at oh yeah, look at
- 9:13Speaker 3: his triple A numbers. There's no way he's gonna do well.
- 9:17Speaker 3: Talk through that in a mental standpoint, but also in
- 9:21Speaker 3: like the execution of it actually out on a big
- 9:23Speaker 3: league mount.
- 9:26Speaker 2: I think the biggest thing that people outside of the
- 9:30Speaker 2: game don't know that you gotta be honest, it's really
- 9:33Speaker 2: hard to be locked in and stay locked in for
- 9:38Speaker 2: triple A starts because you know, you be in the
- 9:40Speaker 2: big leagues for a couple of years and then you
- 9:42Speaker 2: get sent down. I mean, win or lose in triple A,
- 9:47Speaker 2: you don't really really care.
- 9:50Speaker 4: You just want to get back to the big leagues.
- 9:52Speaker 2: And I mean you want to perform, and you want
- 9:54Speaker 2: to win because that's part of the performance.
- 9:56Speaker 4: But it's just it's really hard to get.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Locked in, and you know, the adrenaline isn't there. You know,
- 10:04Speaker 2: there's a couple of thousand people in the stands instead
- 10:06Speaker 2: of you know, forty thousand. It's just it doesn't mean
- 10:09Speaker 2: as more as much as big league games do. But
- 10:12Speaker 2: you also, you know, you can't let that be an
- 10:14Speaker 2: excuse and for whatever reason, I've always I've always struggled,
- 10:18Speaker 2: whether it's rehab outings or you know, getting options of pitching,
- 10:23Speaker 2: because you know, it's just it's hard to see what
- 10:26Speaker 2: the guy's approaches are down in Triple A because you
- 10:29Speaker 2: know they're just they haven't really found their approach yet,
- 10:33Speaker 2: and you know they're just swinging and it seems like
- 10:36Speaker 2: every ball is falling. So you know, it's always been
- 10:39Speaker 2: tough for me to kind of, you know, make that
- 10:41Speaker 2: adjustment down there.
- 10:43Speaker 4: But you know I was.
- 10:45Speaker 2: I got called up for that double header in Boston
- 10:49Speaker 2: in May and made the most of it.
- 10:50Speaker 4: And the rest is history.
- 10:54Speaker 3: All right, Well, what about moving forward? Is there something
- 10:57Speaker 3: that you sit here and you go, Okay, you're thirteen
- 11:00Speaker 3: starts right now in the big leagues are a freaking elite.
- 11:03Speaker 3: Let alone August, You've only give it up a run
- 11:05Speaker 3: each start. Like, moving forward, not just September, but moving
- 11:10Speaker 3: forward to next year. Are there things that you did
- 11:12Speaker 3: this past off season to get yourself ready that you're like, dang,
- 11:16Speaker 3: if I get a whole off season of that, where
- 11:19Speaker 3: can I get to what level? Can I truly get
- 11:22Speaker 3: to back to another All Star Game? That level that
- 11:24Speaker 3: you were when you first broke into the big leagues.
- 11:28Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it goes back to, you know, just
- 11:30Speaker 2: the very basic stuff, you know, just lower body strength,
- 11:35Speaker 2: a lot of low back injuries, and just stuff that
- 11:39Speaker 2: was limiting my ability to you know, be as strong
- 11:42Speaker 2: as I could. I mean, there are starts where my
- 11:46Speaker 2: back hurts so bad that you know, I just had
- 11:48Speaker 2: to hold my breath to make sure it didn't it
- 11:49Speaker 2: didn't hurt when I released the ball, so that that happens,
- 11:53Speaker 2: and you know, you just try to be smarter in
- 11:55Speaker 2: the weight room.
- 11:56Speaker 4: And my version of being smarter at.
- 11:58Speaker 2: The time was, you know, just stop stop lifting and
- 12:02Speaker 2: just try to be as healthy as I can. What's
- 12:05Speaker 2: the downfall was is I kind of got I lost
- 12:07Speaker 2: all my strength. So that was like the big thing
- 12:11Speaker 2: when I went over the drive line is they showed
- 12:14Speaker 2: me the graph of where my strength was compared to
- 12:17Speaker 2: like the big league average, and I mean there's probably
- 12:20Speaker 2: that big of a gap between where I was and
- 12:23Speaker 2: where the big.
- 12:24Speaker 4: League average was. So that was the big thing.
- 12:27Speaker 2: Get my my lower body strength back, and then just
- 12:31Speaker 2: fixing up a couple of mechanical cues that I've kind
- 12:35Speaker 2: of built over the past.
- 12:37Speaker 4: Couple of years.
- 12:38Speaker 2: Just bad habits, and we really knocked those two things
- 12:42Speaker 2: out and it's been it's been really good this year.
- 12:44Speaker 2: So really just this coming off season, really focusing on
- 12:49Speaker 2: that even more, and in a couple of small other
- 12:52Speaker 2: details as well.
- 12:55Speaker 3: Like can you go back to what you're saying about
- 12:56Speaker 3: drive line, your your your strength was below oh big
- 13:00Speaker 3: league average for your lower body? Is that what she said?
- 13:03Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 13:04Speaker 3: Yeah, so you played Was that your fifth big league
- 13:08Speaker 3: season when you found this out?
- 13:11Speaker 4: Yep? Yeah?
- 13:13Speaker 3: How was this not found before? We're always I'm always taught.
- 13:17Speaker 3: I'm always intrigued by organizations that that are ahead of
- 13:22Speaker 3: the curve, behind the curve. You had to go to
- 13:24Speaker 3: a third party outside of an organization to find this out.
- 13:29Speaker 3: Do you feel like if you had been given this
- 13:33Speaker 3: information before, you would have at least brought that back up.
- 13:36Speaker 3: If not, Based on what like I'm hearing from you,
- 13:39Speaker 3: it seems like you're super competitive, you probably would have
- 13:41Speaker 3: gone twenty percent over the league average. But do you
- 13:44Speaker 3: feel like this is like it was almost wasted time
- 13:47Speaker 3: that you didn't know this before.
- 13:52Speaker 2: That's that's a good question. I So when I first
- 13:56Speaker 2: had my first back injury the end of twenty one,
- 14:00Speaker 2: I came back in twenty two and the velocity was
- 14:02Speaker 2: still there. I think it was the repetitive back injuries
- 14:07Speaker 2: and the repetitive you know, my back just shows that crap.
- 14:10Speaker 2: So it was like the slow regression of you know,
- 14:14Speaker 2: let's just completely knock this out lower body wise, Let's
- 14:18Speaker 2: do a couple of movements that feel good, because that's
- 14:23Speaker 2: what matters. We just want to keep you on the
- 14:25Speaker 2: field and go from there. I try not to have
- 14:30Speaker 2: any regrets because that's part of the story, that's part
- 14:33Speaker 2: of the you know, what my career is, and I've
- 14:37Speaker 2: always taken it as you know, I've learned throughout the way,
- 14:42Speaker 2: every step through this journey. But I do I do
- 14:47Speaker 2: think sometimes, you know, if if I had to do
- 14:50Speaker 2: it over again, I would have gone sooner. But everything
- 14:54Speaker 2: works out for a reason. I think the stars aligned
- 14:58Speaker 2: and I went at the perfect time. And I'm just
- 15:01Speaker 2: happy that we found the issue and we were able
- 15:04Speaker 2: to tackle it. You know, if there wasn't a problem
- 15:07Speaker 2: and they couldn't find a problem, might be probably in
- 15:10Speaker 2: a lot worse spot.
- 15:11Speaker 4: Than than I was.
- 15:12Speaker 2: So I'm just glad that there was a problem and
- 15:14Speaker 2: we were able to attack it and resolve it.
- 15:19Speaker 5: I want to talk a little bit about your arm
- 15:21Speaker 5: angle too as well. You know, I'm not saying it's
- 15:22Speaker 5: a problem. You kind of got that lower arm angle
- 15:25Speaker 5: for a bigger picture. You know, bum Gardner did kind
- 15:28Speaker 5: of the same thing, but he had that longer release.
- 15:30Speaker 5: Can you talk a little bit about that. Did you
- 15:32Speaker 5: develop that over time or was that just the natural
- 15:35Speaker 5: way that you threw the ball?
- 15:38Speaker 2: Yeah, just a natural way that I threw the ball before.
- 15:42Speaker 2: This was when I was a lot younger, before I
- 15:46Speaker 2: even saw video. I thought I was I was kershaw.
- 15:48Speaker 2: I was way up here over the top, and they
- 15:52Speaker 2: saw the video and I was way out here. I
- 15:54Speaker 2: was like, oh crap, Okay, that's not exactly what I felt.
- 15:57Speaker 2: But Phil versus real, right, So that's that's kind of
- 16:01Speaker 2: always how I threw the baseball. So yeah, I don't
- 16:04Speaker 2: know where it came from or it was just a
- 16:06Speaker 2: natural way of throwing the baseball, but yeah, that's kind
- 16:10Speaker 2: of always how. It's how it's been, all right, what
- 16:14Speaker 2: do you do in your free time? What do you
- 16:16Speaker 2: do when you're not dominating big league hitters?
- 16:18Speaker 3: And you're like, I got I got I got two
- 16:21Speaker 3: hours to kill, I got two hours of kill in
- 16:23Speaker 3: this city or you know, we got an off day.
- 16:26Speaker 3: What's what's Trevor going to besides hitting lower lower body?
- 16:31Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I've been My wife has been a lot better,
- 16:36Speaker 2: trying to get me out and trying new restaurants.
- 16:39Speaker 4: I'm I'm very playing James.
- 16:41Speaker 2: Just give me your burger, give me, give me something,
- 16:44Speaker 2: give me shoot, give me ramen noodles.
- 16:46Speaker 4: I don't care.
- 16:48Speaker 2: So I've been better at, you know, expanding my palate
- 16:51Speaker 2: a little bit. Big, big lego guy, a big lego guy.
- 16:54Speaker 2: I love legos. We'll build him in the off season
- 16:57Speaker 2: all the time. And I love to go and read,
- 17:01Speaker 2: so kind of just those four things. I don't really
- 17:04Speaker 2: do a whole lot outside of that pretty boring guy,
- 17:07Speaker 2: So I just try to keep it simple.
- 17:09Speaker 3: Really wait wait, wait, wait, nuts, that's not boring. First
- 17:13Speaker 3: of all, did you did you have you gotten sick
- 17:16Speaker 3: eating anything that she's had you eat? And do you
- 17:20Speaker 3: glue your legos together? Because he's not here today. Aj
- 17:23Speaker 3: Prazinski is huge into legos and he's he is lord business.
- 17:29Speaker 3: He Yeah, Aj is normally normally here where Todd is.
- 17:32Speaker 3: Phil is my guy today, but he glues his together
- 17:35Speaker 3: and I think that is like communist.
- 17:38Speaker 4: I can't.
- 17:38Speaker 3: I can't, I can't.
- 17:41Speaker 2: That's that's that's a little crazy. I'd never even thought
- 17:44Speaker 2: about that. That that's I don't think I have the
- 17:48Speaker 2: patience to glue them. If they fall apart, then they
- 17:51Speaker 2: fall apart. I think I need to do a better
- 17:53Speaker 2: job of building them. But uh, but as far as
- 17:56Speaker 2: the food food goes, I mean, shoot, I grew up
- 18:00Speaker 2: on taco bell, So I don't think anything's gonna get
- 18:03Speaker 2: this stomach get this stomach upset.
- 18:05Speaker 1: So stomach is still wait. I totally just realized this
- 18:11Speaker 1: as we're getting towards the end of the conversation. Do
- 18:14Speaker 1: you know who we spoke to on this show yesterday?
- 18:17Speaker 1: We had a guest on this show who you know
- 18:19Speaker 1: pretty well, Like, I think you're related to him, Cody Ross. Yeah, dude,
- 18:27Speaker 1: how crazy is this? We mostly have current players on,
- 18:30Speaker 1: especially during the season. We're at a tournament in Alabama
- 18:33Speaker 1: and I was just looking because I know you played
- 18:35Speaker 1: ball in New Mexico. And we asked Cody best player
- 18:38Speaker 1: ever out of New Mexico, and he brought up Alex Bregman,
- 18:41Speaker 1: And then I'm like, oh, I should ask him this question.
- 18:43Speaker 1: And then I look and it says his cousin Cody
- 18:46Speaker 1: played for nine to one teams. I'm like, what, wait,
- 18:50Speaker 1: so Cody's your cousin.
- 18:53Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, he's my cousin.
- 18:54Speaker 2: So his dad and my mom's mom or brother and sister,
- 18:59Speaker 2: so I think that second cousins or something like that.
- 19:02Speaker 2: So yeah, he was. He was big for me growing up.
- 19:06Speaker 2: You know, I wanted to be him, you know, coming
- 19:09Speaker 2: from the same hometown and just seeing everything that he accomplished.
- 19:13Speaker 2: So he was definitely big for me growing up.
- 19:17Speaker 1: Dude, that is crazy.
- 19:18Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 19:19Speaker 1: I mean we're on every single day and we've had
- 19:21Speaker 1: Cody on one other time a few years ago. But
- 19:23Speaker 1: that's crazy. So what's the new Mexico baseball scene?
- 19:26Speaker 4: Like, let's finish with that.
- 19:27Speaker 1: I mean, there haven't been many players that have come
- 19:29Speaker 1: out and been stars like yourself and Bragman and obviously
- 19:33Speaker 1: Cody when he was playing. So what's the scene like there.
- 19:37Speaker 4: Yeah, it's very you know, underrated.
- 19:41Speaker 2: There's some teams in Albuquerque, Le Cueva, El Dorado, Cleveland,
- 19:47Speaker 2: especially Le Cueva. They were I mean I hated playing
- 19:51Speaker 2: them because they were so good. I think at one point,
- 19:55Speaker 2: maybe twenty years ago, they're national champions for all of
- 19:59Speaker 2: high school baseball, so you know, they're just a powerhouse
- 20:01Speaker 2: every year.
- 20:02Speaker 4: And then you and him and NMSU.
- 20:05Speaker 2: Kyle Bradish actually told me in spring training that he
- 20:08Speaker 2: went to NMSU, so that was that was pretty cool.
- 20:12Speaker 2: So you know, they're just pumping out really good college
- 20:14Speaker 2: talent and definitely wouldn't be surprised if there's more high
- 20:20Speaker 2: school talent coming up in the in the next couple
- 20:24Speaker 2: of years.
- 20:25Speaker 5: Very cool.
- 20:25Speaker 1: We all have to do it what Cody does because
- 20:27Speaker 1: I know Cody's big, you know, and tries to you know,
- 20:30Speaker 1: mentor anybody that's coming from from New Mexico. And I
- 20:33Speaker 1: know he was pretty tight with pregnant and obviously tight
- 20:36Speaker 1: with you given the family ties. So that's really cool. Trevor,
- 20:39Speaker 1: awesome conversation. Thanks thanks for joining us, Keep doing your thing.
- 20:42Speaker 1: Appreciate the time.
- 20:44Speaker 4: Yeah, thanks for having me, guys. I enjoyed it.
