- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:05Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus. After ten yard lives second to day free
- 0:08Speaker 1: wide receivers now in motion has Pumpas left to right,
- 0:11Speaker 1: Julius Jones, a single setback Matt pumpfecks looking at the
- 0:14Speaker 1: goal line, he throws it into the end zone. Touchdown,
- 0:17Speaker 1: Say Hawks, it's Michael Bumpas with a diving catching the
- 0:21Speaker 1: end zone. Our ten yard touchdown reception for Puppas and
- 0:25Speaker 1: the kid out of Washington State has found himself a
- 0:29Speaker 1: place on this team. Powered by Seahawks dot Com. Was
- 0:33Speaker 1: sub twelves. I am Michael Bumpas, along went Nasa Shoby.
- 0:36Speaker 1: This is Hawk Talk recap, and unfortunately, unfortunately, we are
- 0:40Speaker 1: talking about a loss. The Seahawks fall to the Bills
- 0:43Speaker 1: forty four two thirty four. I don't think we're ready
- 0:46Speaker 1: for this. I think you can take losses. I don't
- 0:48Speaker 1: think we're ready for this type of loss. From the
- 0:50Speaker 1: very first play of the game, Nasa Shoby, it felt
- 0:53Speaker 1: like things weren't gonna go well. There's a sixty yard
- 0:56Speaker 1: return on a kickoff, and then three plays later the
- 0:59Speaker 1: Bills square and then the Hawks go three and out,
- 1:02Speaker 1: And that's pretty much what this whole game felt like. Yeah,
- 1:05Speaker 1: you couldn't got off to a worst start than that,
- 1:07Speaker 1: Especially the Seahawks have been so well on special teams
- 1:09Speaker 1: controlling the field position battle that happens three plays boom, boom, boom,
- 1:14Speaker 1: and then you go three and out. Then you give
- 1:15Speaker 1: up another touchdown, and it's never good in the NFL
- 1:17Speaker 1: to jump give pee spot people essentially fourteen points right away,
- 1:20Speaker 1: and you just kind of knew it was not going
- 1:22Speaker 1: to be their day. Man, I'm kind of confused. I'm
- 1:24Speaker 1: looking at a stat right, the Hawks gave up how
- 1:28Speaker 1: many yards? Alan threw for four hundred and fifteen yards?
- 1:32Speaker 1: And they lost? The Hawks lose. Usually the Hawks win
- 1:34Speaker 1: when qbs throw for four hundred yards. I'm confused. This
- 1:37Speaker 1: was like, this is a twenty twenty game, Like nothing
- 1:39Speaker 1: felt right, Russell making poor decisions, the fumbles, Alan throw
- 1:43Speaker 1: for four hundred when the week before it only threw
- 1:45Speaker 1: the ball eighteen times the first half. The Bills only
- 1:48Speaker 1: rushed to the ball three times. Everything that I expected
- 1:51Speaker 1: to happen didn't happen in this game. Well, the thing
- 1:53Speaker 1: about it too is we knew we said this early
- 1:55Speaker 1: year eventually this was gonna happen. You can't allow people
- 1:58Speaker 1: to throw for over four hundred yards and continue within
- 2:00Speaker 1: those football games. I think this is Danny O'NEI always
- 2:02Speaker 1: brings up this stat. I think it happened nine other times.
- 2:04Speaker 1: It's the first time in the Seahawks did not come
- 2:07Speaker 1: up victorious. But you're right, you're looking at the box score.
- 2:10Speaker 1: It just doesn't make sense for a Seahawk football team
- 2:12Speaker 1: turning the ball over four times, allowing them it Just
- 2:17Speaker 1: as Pete said this morning, when he saw and you
- 2:19Speaker 1: guys like, he couldn't recognize it. That's that's not something
- 2:21Speaker 1: that Seahawk football is about. And he couldn't recognize the
- 2:23Speaker 1: team that played on Sunday. It was tough. Well, we
- 2:26Speaker 1: kind of already got into it, but let's talk about
- 2:28Speaker 1: what happened. See what had happened at first, what had
- 2:33Speaker 1: happened was undo. What had happened was Josh Allen was
- 2:39Speaker 1: thirty one for thirty eight in the first quarter. He
- 2:42Speaker 1: was twelve or fourteen, one hundred and fifty four yards
- 2:44Speaker 1: and two touchdowns. He looked like the MVP candidate people
- 2:49Speaker 1: were talking about the first four weeks in the NFL season,
- 2:52Speaker 1: Stefon Diggs did his thing. He had nine catches one
- 2:55Speaker 1: hundred eighteen yards. John Brown had eight catches ninety nine yards.
- 3:00Speaker 1: It seemed like they could do no wrong offensively. I'll
- 3:04Speaker 1: be I'll be honest. I got to give the Bills
- 3:06Speaker 1: more credit than I gave them. Probably heading into that
- 3:08Speaker 1: football game, I knew we were a good football team,
- 3:10Speaker 1: but they came out. He just guns blazing. And Josh Allen,
- 3:14Speaker 1: he we said it. He's a dog man like the dude.
- 3:17Speaker 1: First of all, he is hard to bring down, like
- 3:20Speaker 1: when you there's so many times, even though we ended
- 3:22Speaker 1: up sacking him seven times. He's a big physical guy.
- 3:24Speaker 1: When you come, you gotta come with it, and he
- 3:26Speaker 1: just it was hard to watch. Man. But honestly, I
- 3:29Speaker 1: have to give credit toward credit too, because between those
- 3:31Speaker 1: three on offense, it didn't It seemed like they had
- 3:34Speaker 1: everything right. Any defense we called, they had an answer
- 3:37Speaker 1: for it. Once we started bringing pressure late in the games,
- 3:39Speaker 1: they would drop some screens. It just feels like everything
- 3:41Speaker 1: that they had going was the right call. And Josh
- 3:43Speaker 1: Allen was special yesterday. Man, it seemed like every time
- 3:47Speaker 1: the Seahawks wanted to run the ball, they blitzed the
- 3:49Speaker 1: perfect gap, or the linebackers read it perfectly. This team
- 3:52Speaker 1: just seemed really prepared. And on the flip side, defensively,
- 3:56Speaker 1: the Hawks didn't seem that prepared. You hear Pete Carroll
- 3:59Speaker 1: Talky said that they weren't expecting them to throw the
- 4:01Speaker 1: ball the way that they did. And people can sit
- 4:03Speaker 1: there and say, what do you mean you didn't expect
- 4:05Speaker 1: them the week before they rushed for one hundred and
- 4:07Speaker 1: ninety yards only throw the ball eighteen times. Me going
- 4:11Speaker 1: into this game and I thought, I'm like, that's their formula.
- 4:13Speaker 1: That's how they're gonna try to win ball games. But again,
- 4:16Speaker 1: you tip your hat off to the offense and defensive coordinators.
- 4:19Speaker 1: Offensive coordinator for the Bills saw a struggling dumbar, saw
- 4:23Speaker 1: the cushion they were getting, and they were like, all right,
- 4:25Speaker 1: let's switch the game up and throw the football. I'm
- 4:27Speaker 1: interested to know if they went into this game thinking
- 4:30Speaker 1: all right, we're gonna throw We're gonna throw the ball,
- 4:33Speaker 1: or they just saw the health of this defense we
- 4:35Speaker 1: are like, all right, let's switch it up and let's
- 4:36Speaker 1: throw the rock. Well, that's the thing, you know, people
- 4:38Speaker 1: always talk about when they get they get upset after
- 4:41Speaker 1: losses and they want to blame coaching STAPs and whatnot.
- 4:44Speaker 1: The Bills get paid to coach. There are guys too, right,
- 4:46Speaker 1: So I honestly, I just gotta tip my hat because
- 4:48Speaker 1: I think I don't think they came into this game
- 4:52Speaker 1: thinking they're gonna throw it that much. I think they
- 4:54Speaker 1: might have came in with more of a balanced game playing,
- 4:56Speaker 1: specially after we saw last week. Because we saw, we
- 4:58Speaker 1: sat here and talked about how we think that is
- 5:00Speaker 1: their recipe to be successful moving forward. I think they
- 5:02Speaker 1: came out, you know, you script your first couple of plays,
- 5:04Speaker 1: and they had success early those first two drives. I
- 5:06Speaker 1: think right after that they're like, Okay, if it's not broke,
- 5:09Speaker 1: let's keep going to it. We're gonna throw the pill
- 5:11Speaker 1: until they can stop it. And unfortunately for the Seahawks,
- 5:13Speaker 1: they couldn't really stop it until the second half of times.
- 5:16Speaker 1: And even that it was tough. It was tough man
- 5:19Speaker 1: Russell Wilson through two interceptions, they turned the ball over
- 5:21Speaker 1: four times. Pete through all the stat he said, Now
- 5:24Speaker 1: it's not just don't quote me, but he pretty much said,
- 5:26Speaker 1: teams who have turned the ball over four times or
- 5:29Speaker 1: like two and one hundred and twenty or something like
- 5:31Speaker 1: that over the past ten years. And there was a
- 5:34Speaker 1: point in this game where the Hawks still had a chance.
- 5:37Speaker 1: They were down seven late in the game, and then
- 5:39Speaker 1: things happened the Bills score. But even with all that
- 5:42Speaker 1: going on, all the madness, the Hawks still had a
- 5:45Speaker 1: chance to win the game. And then on the positive side,
- 5:47Speaker 1: they sacked the quarterback seven times. I had twelve sacks
- 5:50Speaker 1: going into this game. They sacked the quarterback seven times.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Newly acquired Carlos Dunlap got into the Minx Jay Reid
- 5:55Speaker 1: had two and a half sacks. There are some positives
- 5:58Speaker 1: to take away from this game, no question about It's
- 6:00Speaker 1: not all bad. If you would have, first of all,
- 6:01Speaker 1: if you told me we had seven sacks, right and
- 6:03Speaker 1: all these ten quarterback hits and all these tackle for losses,
- 6:06Speaker 1: I would say, hey, we won that game handily. And
- 6:08Speaker 1: if if Josh Allen had thirty eight times then we
- 6:10Speaker 1: sacked him seven, I would say the Seahawks won by
- 6:12Speaker 1: at least fourteen. Obviously that didn't happen. But the positive
- 6:16Speaker 1: to bring out of this is that they know they've
- 6:18Speaker 1: seen it, they can do it. I love seeing Dunlap
- 6:20Speaker 1: come out there and be successful right away. The one
- 6:23Speaker 1: sack head it was a nice bull rush is pushed
- 6:25Speaker 1: the tackle back into the quarterback, makes a nice play.
- 6:28Speaker 1: He was good in the run game a few times.
- 6:29Speaker 1: The Bills did actually run the football Jay Reid. Huge
- 6:33Speaker 1: for Jay Reid. We've been waiting to see that kind
- 6:34Speaker 1: of all years since really since twenty eighteen where we
- 6:37Speaker 1: had ten sacks, so it was good to see him
- 6:39Speaker 1: get two and a half. It was good to see
- 6:40Speaker 1: poona Ford was active. So they did some nice things
- 6:43Speaker 1: and when they dial up pressure, Obviously, Jamal Adams is
- 6:46Speaker 1: one of the best in the Bids at getting to
- 6:47Speaker 1: the quarterbacks, so I loved what I saw there. If
- 6:50Speaker 1: they can find a way to share up some things
- 6:52Speaker 1: on the back end and bring it all together, because
- 6:54Speaker 1: last week we felt good about our past defense through
- 6:57Speaker 1: three quarters, we had a little bit more pressure with
- 7:00Speaker 1: Bobby Wagner. They need to put it together one week.
- 7:02Speaker 1: It can't be one or the other. It can't be
- 7:04Speaker 1: we're getting home in the pass rush and we're struggling
- 7:07Speaker 1: the secondary or vice versa. It has to all come
- 7:09Speaker 1: together and hopefully at least for the defensive line, that
- 7:11Speaker 1: was the start of that. And they have to get healthy.
- 7:14Speaker 1: I mean, Mail is out, Dumbar was struggling, Griffins out.
- 7:19Speaker 1: You're not playing with the guys you expected to be
- 7:21Speaker 1: on the field week one. And I know this is
- 7:24Speaker 1: the NFL. Every team is dealing with injuries, but you're
- 7:27Speaker 1: not playing your starters, you're playing twos, or you're playing
- 7:29Speaker 1: guys who are banged up. Again, this defense is not
- 7:32Speaker 1: just gonna They're not gonna get healthy. Now. This defense
- 7:34Speaker 1: is one of the best defenses in the league. No,
- 7:36Speaker 1: that's not who they are. But they can get healthy
- 7:38Speaker 1: and at least change the perception of this defense a
- 7:42Speaker 1: little bit. Well, it is what it is. You got
- 7:44Speaker 1: who you got. You gotta lineup and play on to
- 7:47Speaker 1: the next game. But let's talk about some of the
- 7:49Speaker 1: guys who bought out the playmakers. Playmakers. Oh well, it
- 8:02Speaker 1: was obviously a tough day for the Seahawks, But the
- 8:05Speaker 1: crazy thing about this is we still scored thirty four points. Right,
- 8:08Speaker 1: We still managed to hit our number. We leave the
- 8:10Speaker 1: league in scoring offense, thirty four points. So we got
- 8:12Speaker 1: to start with the quarterback Russell Wilson. Yes, he did
- 8:15Speaker 1: have four turnovers, right, So Obviously, we can't ignore that
- 8:18Speaker 1: he went twenty eight for forty one still through for
- 8:20Speaker 1: three hundred and ninety yards and two touchdowns. He had
- 8:23Speaker 1: two fumbles lost. I would say those probably are his fault.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Maybe you could say the first one was and he
- 8:28Speaker 1: stepping up in the pocket, but time and scored the game.
- 8:30Speaker 1: We had to throw the ball as bunch as we did.
- 8:31Speaker 1: The second one, he didn't see the blitz coming at all.
- 8:33Speaker 1: He got hit, lifted off his feet. That was tough.
- 8:36Speaker 1: He had ninety four point six QB rating. Again, this
- 8:40Speaker 1: is kind of like the Arizona game. I kind of
- 8:42Speaker 1: have that same feeling in terms of Russell's performance, where
- 8:44Speaker 1: he played a solid game, He did things well, he
- 8:46Speaker 1: made some really difficult throws. He just is just the turnovers,
- 8:51Speaker 1: and like when we lose the turnover battle, we usually
- 8:54Speaker 1: lose the game. So overall, I don't know what you
- 8:56Speaker 1: saw from him. I think he still played great. It's
- 8:58Speaker 1: but it still wasn't quite the Russell game that we're
- 9:00Speaker 1: used to see him. He got hit sixteen times, sixteen times.
- 9:06Speaker 1: Your quarterbacks getting hit sixteen times just gonna be a
- 9:09Speaker 1: long day. And like I said earlier, I feel like
- 9:12Speaker 1: He's not gonna say this, but I feel like he
- 9:14Speaker 1: feels pressured to have to play perfect, so he's pressing
- 9:17Speaker 1: in a bit. He's made a couple of decisions where
- 9:19Speaker 1: I'm like, typically Russell doesn't do that. But he's on
- 9:22Speaker 1: the sideline, he's watching this defense, he's watching the Bill's office,
- 9:25Speaker 1: and he's like, all right, I don't think we can
- 9:26Speaker 1: stop these guys. I'm gonna have to win this football game.
- 9:29Speaker 1: So you can appreciate that mentality because you want a
- 9:32Speaker 1: guy who wants to win the ball game, but you
- 9:34Speaker 1: also have to realize he's gonna need some help and
- 9:36Speaker 1: these guys need to get healthy and help this guy out.
- 9:39Speaker 1: When you score thirty four points, you should win football games,
- 9:42Speaker 1: Yes he should, and sack the other team's quarterback seven times.
- 9:45Speaker 1: The one shout out, though for russ it ended up
- 9:47Speaker 1: being incomplete pass. The pass to Tyler Lockett that might
- 9:52Speaker 1: have been, honestly, in my opinion watching football game, that
- 9:55Speaker 1: might have been one of the greatest plays that I've
- 9:56Speaker 1: ever seen in my life. If that was the case.
- 10:00Speaker 1: My buddy texted me, he goes, hey, bump, that was
- 10:02Speaker 1: the greatest incompletion I've ever seen, and the crazy thing
- 10:06Speaker 1: is too shout out Tyler Locket. So I don't know
- 10:08Speaker 1: how russ is getting pressured. He eludes one rusher and
- 10:10Speaker 1: he's getting ready to throw the football. When he releases
- 10:13Speaker 1: the ball, Tyler Lockett is in the middle of the field.
- 10:18Speaker 1: He's in the middlefield runs another forty yards. That unbelievable. Unbelievable, Yes, unbelievable.
- 10:24Speaker 1: Russell still even in a loss. Russell does things that
- 10:27Speaker 1: make you say wow. Another guy that makes you say wow.
- 10:30Speaker 1: It seems like every single week is DK metcast seven receptions,
- 10:34Speaker 1: one hundred eight yards, one touchdown, averaging fifteen point four
- 10:37Speaker 1: yards per catch. Every week he does something to where
- 10:40Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, he's getting better. Like there's a there's
- 10:43Speaker 1: a pass across the middle. He went up and snatched
- 10:47Speaker 1: it out the air with his hands. Typically DK brings
- 10:49Speaker 1: it in with his body. He's he can box guys out.
- 10:52Speaker 1: But I saw that and it looks natural, and I'm like, man,
- 10:55Speaker 1: every single week he does something to where I'm like,
- 10:58Speaker 1: he's getting better. And then that play on the sideline,
- 11:00Speaker 1: William stiff Arm to Davia's white that is a grown man,
- 11:06Speaker 1: and he drove him to the ground like he was
- 11:08Speaker 1: a little boy. I mean every time that's DK is
- 11:10Speaker 1: good for at least one of those a game, and
- 11:12Speaker 1: a couple of times this year it's happening. It's all
- 11:14Speaker 1: pro Pro Bowl type guys. So you love to see
- 11:17Speaker 1: the physicality from DK. The player you mentioned were to
- 11:19Speaker 1: snatch it out of the air first of all, Russell
- 11:21Speaker 1: through that. That was fastball. That was coming in one
- 11:23Speaker 1: hundred miles an hour. It's good to see him evolving.
- 11:25Speaker 1: And it's weird to say that that was a really
- 11:28Speaker 1: really quiet one hundred and eight yards one touchdown performance
- 11:31Speaker 1: from Metcalf, but good to see he's still balling out.
- 11:33Speaker 1: And the next guy, all right, guy man Demo sway
- 11:38Speaker 1: his post Do you see his postgame interview? My god,
- 11:41Speaker 1: got the with the chaise and his whole vibe. I'm
- 11:45Speaker 1: just feeling this vibe. David Waring four receptions, seventy one yards,
- 11:48Speaker 1: one touchdown, and the fifty four yard touchdown that we'll
- 11:51Speaker 1: talk about later. But demon just consistent. He's a silent killer.
- 11:56Speaker 1: Eighty three. They're gonna get him. He's gonna contribute in
- 11:59Speaker 1: the the pump return game. He's gonna make big plays.
- 12:02Speaker 1: He just continues to be a nice pillar in this offense. Step.
- 12:07Speaker 1: He's not gonna get the national love. People aren't gonna
- 12:10Speaker 1: talk about David Moore, but you need a third receiver
- 12:13Speaker 1: like him. And then he just at the Swag after
- 12:15Speaker 1: the game. I mean, come on, how can you not
- 12:17Speaker 1: like Demo? My guy? Demo is the man. And thing
- 12:19Speaker 1: I love about him too is like we said a
- 12:21Speaker 1: while ago, coming in this year, it was who's going
- 12:23Speaker 1: to be the number three receiver? Who's gonna take That's
- 12:25Speaker 1: gonna be Philip Door said, George that's been injured. It's
- 12:28Speaker 1: gonna be Frace Wayne. He had all these guys in camp.
- 12:30Speaker 1: Demo Swag said, nah, fam, that's me. He locked it
- 12:33Speaker 1: down when he's getting targeted. Usually it has a chance
- 12:36Speaker 1: to go to distance. I'll love to see Demo getting
- 12:38Speaker 1: after it. And despite giving him forty four points, we
- 12:41Speaker 1: got to show some love the defensive line and really
- 12:43Speaker 1: just the defense in general when it comes to pressure.
- 12:47Speaker 1: Season high seven sacks, ten quarterback hits. We mentioned earlier,
- 12:50Speaker 1: Jay ree To enough sacks, Carlo Stunlap one sack, pretty
- 12:53Speaker 1: tackle for loss. So the main Loan bright spot on defense.
- 12:56Speaker 1: Who's great to see those guys finally get after the quarterback.
- 12:59Speaker 1: Nice to see the D line call some havoc. Yes,
- 13:02Speaker 1: they put up forty four points, but they did what
- 13:05Speaker 1: they were supposed to do. They didn't run the ball
- 13:08Speaker 1: a lot, they didn't have the bill, didn't have a
- 13:10Speaker 1: lot of rushing attempts, but they had nineteen attempts only
- 13:14Speaker 1: thirty four yards. They did score two touchdown. That's phil position, right,
- 13:16Speaker 1: you're down there and goal line, you're gonna be able
- 13:18Speaker 1: to get in the end zone. But they did what
- 13:21Speaker 1: a D line is supposed to do, get after the quarterback,
- 13:23Speaker 1: sack them, limit the runs. It's weird now because now
- 13:26Speaker 1: we're talking about the back end, and that's what where
- 13:28Speaker 1: we felt was the strength of this defense. But when
- 13:30Speaker 1: you got y yeah, guys hurt, they're gonna be days
- 13:34Speaker 1: like this. They're gonna be it's like this. Unfortunately, it
- 13:36Speaker 1: was the most points ever given up under Pete Carroll.
- 13:38Speaker 1: But uh yeah, you gotta find some positives somewhere. Yeah,
- 13:41Speaker 1: that's a that's one of the positives. And let me
- 13:43Speaker 1: tell you something, Like we said, Roy's good coming after losses.
- 13:46Speaker 1: So we'll get that corrected. And I hope to never
- 13:49Speaker 1: see another double digit performance over forty on the scoreboard
- 13:53Speaker 1: for the seat defense the rest of the way. All right,
- 13:56Speaker 1: let's get to the receiver round up. Of course, we
- 14:00Speaker 1: talked about DK metcalf seven catches, one hundred and eight yards,
- 14:03Speaker 1: one touchdown on nine targets. Demos Swag four catches seventy
- 14:07Speaker 1: one yards on six targets. Homer have three catches. Jacob Hollister, Yes, sir,
- 14:12Speaker 1: love Man, come on, Jacob, they bring it. They bring it.
- 14:16Speaker 1: All these other tight ends they draft a guy. House
- 14:19Speaker 1: was like, look, I was the number three receiver on
- 14:21Speaker 1: this team last year. Y'all must have forgot five catches
- 14:24Speaker 1: sixty yards on seven targets. Tyer Lockett had a quiet day.
- 14:28Speaker 1: Four catches forty yards on seven targets. Will Disley had
- 14:30Speaker 1: one for twenty six, a big play, wide open, going
- 14:33Speaker 1: across the mid of the field. Olsen got back into
- 14:35Speaker 1: the mix two catches thirty yards, DJ two for eight,
- 14:39Speaker 1: Freddie no catches on two targets. You look at this
- 14:43Speaker 1: stat the stat sheet comes to receivers and you're optimistic. Yes.
- 14:48Speaker 1: The one thing that's consistent about this team is that offensively,
- 14:52Speaker 1: guys are gonna eat, specifically when it comes to throwing
- 14:55Speaker 1: a rock Oh, no question about it. We know we're
- 14:57Speaker 1: gonna get from Lockett in Medcalf. One of them is
- 14:58Speaker 1: going off every single week. But this is the most
- 15:01Speaker 1: promising thing. Another big positive takeaway from this is Jacob Poliser.
- 15:05Speaker 1: You mentioned it. Yeah, the tight ends need to be
- 15:07Speaker 1: more of a focal point in this offense between greg Olson,
- 15:10Speaker 1: between Hollister, between Disley Kobe Parkinson, if he's ever active,
- 15:14Speaker 1: they need to be more folk Policus offense. And it
- 15:16Speaker 1: was great to see Hollister kind of getting loose and
- 15:18Speaker 1: remind us of what he did for us last season.
- 15:20Speaker 1: If teams are going to blitz like we're seeing and
- 15:23Speaker 1: that's the formula now, I think you're gonna see teams
- 15:26Speaker 1: try to get after Russell Wilson. Those tight ends are
- 15:29Speaker 1: gonna be crucial on those hot routes. Pie says that
- 15:31Speaker 1: I run hot rots. I don't care if Pete hot route,
- 15:35Speaker 1: release and look for the ball right now. These tight
- 15:37Speaker 1: ends are gonna play a big roll on them all.
- 15:39Speaker 1: Right now, let's break down the play. Let's go to
- 15:41Speaker 1: the coach's corner. Russell Wilson finds David Moore for fifty
- 15:45Speaker 1: five yard touchdown. Russ steps up almost stepped right into
- 15:49Speaker 1: the blitz. Now he's gonna roll back right side, He's
- 15:51Speaker 1: gonna look at it. He's gonna let a fly as
- 15:53Speaker 1: deep as he can't. He's got a man touchdown Seahawks.
- 15:57Speaker 1: David Moore had gotten way by the defense, and russ
- 16:01Speaker 1: just rears up and throws it deep, trailing now forty
- 16:05Speaker 1: one twenty six. The Seahawks never out of it until
- 16:09Speaker 1: there's all Zeros. Russell does a great job of not
- 16:14Speaker 1: getting sacked. He does what great quarterbacks do You feel pressure,
- 16:17Speaker 1: you step up inside the pocket, a guy spins off
- 16:21Speaker 1: of his right guard, He gets outside, extends to play
- 16:24Speaker 1: with his feet, and somehow David Moore's ten yards behind
- 16:27Speaker 1: his defense. I don't know what that corner was doing
- 16:29Speaker 1: over there, but this is what Demo does. Does he
- 16:31Speaker 1: like hit a button that makes him going visible for
- 16:33Speaker 1: like three seconds and he gets behind the defense somehow,
- 16:36Speaker 1: some way, Demo finds his way behind the defense. Yeah,
- 16:39Speaker 1: it looked like, I don't know, they're in a too
- 16:41Speaker 1: high look in the safety. There is a looks like
- 16:43Speaker 1: there's a crossing round over the middle, kind of a
- 16:45Speaker 1: deep post, and then Demo the corner kind of sits
- 16:47Speaker 1: down and the safety goes inside and they completely lose
- 16:51Speaker 1: track of him. To be fair, it's a long play
- 16:53Speaker 1: to cover. Normal when you playing Russell Wilson, you gotta
- 16:55Speaker 1: be you gotta cover for four or five seconds. Demo
- 16:58Speaker 1: Swag gets wide open and he is I mean, at
- 17:00Speaker 1: one point in this route there's doing within ten yards
- 17:02Speaker 1: of him to Russell seasonim and he just flicks that
- 17:05Speaker 1: thing like at least what sixty yards in the air
- 17:08Speaker 1: to Demo in the back of the end zone. Of course, Demo,
- 17:09Speaker 1: we're just waiting for it. Could have Fair caught it, honestly, yea.
- 17:12Speaker 1: But good to see him get production. Good to see
- 17:15Speaker 1: him extend the game, because the crazy thing about this
- 17:17Speaker 1: is after this score, the Seahawks were now within two scores.
- 17:21Speaker 1: Then they get a stop on defense. They were still
- 17:23Speaker 1: in the game with you know, seven and a half
- 17:24Speaker 1: or eight minutes ago. Unfortunately ensuing possession me through an intersect,
- 17:28Speaker 1: get sacked twice. Interception. Game kind of ends there. But
- 17:31Speaker 1: always good to see you guys keep fighting and playing
- 17:33Speaker 1: for another down. Man, I feel like other teams would
- 17:37Speaker 1: have laid down and just giving up. And yeah, that's
- 17:41Speaker 1: what I can appreciate about this football team. Yes, it
- 17:43Speaker 1: was ugly. I'm not making excuses. It's gonna be Oh
- 17:46Speaker 1: you're a homer, Yeah I do. I work for the
- 17:48Speaker 1: Sea those of my guys. Yeah, I'm going to support them.
- 17:51Speaker 1: I'm going to find positive But I don't think a
- 17:53Speaker 1: lot of teams find a way to keep it competitive
- 17:57Speaker 1: as long as they did, especially turn the ball over
- 18:00Speaker 1: four times. Yeah, right when Russell got hit and fumbled,
- 18:02Speaker 1: and then a play later Josh Allen runs in the
- 18:04Speaker 1: end zone to make a forty one twenty. A lot
- 18:06Speaker 1: of people right there and say, hey, back it in,
- 18:08Speaker 1: We're in Buffalo. We'll live to fight another day. Let's
- 18:10Speaker 1: pull some guys out. So it's always good to see
- 18:12Speaker 1: them continue to fight because you know, Russell Wilson in
- 18:15Speaker 1: the rest of his offense, they never think that they're
- 18:16Speaker 1: out of games. Fight to the very end. Unfortunately didn't
- 18:19Speaker 1: go our way. But always have to see the most
- 18:21Speaker 1: swag get in the end zone. Here's a question for you. Okay,
- 18:24Speaker 1: this is the first time under Pete Currol, I saw
- 18:28Speaker 1: this team play in the East Coast and look flat.
- 18:31Speaker 1: Did did the time finally play a factor when it
- 18:36Speaker 1: comes to the Seahouse because they look sluggish. Something didn't
- 18:38Speaker 1: feel right, the energy, the efficiency, it just didn't feel right.
- 18:43Speaker 1: It's weird, man, because we come in. We'd won ten
- 18:45Speaker 1: straight in a row, ten straight, ten end games, eighteen
- 18:48Speaker 1: and six in the last you know, twenties four. So
- 18:50Speaker 1: it's just like, I don't know, Bump, but you're right,
- 18:54Speaker 1: you're right. The way it started right off the right
- 18:55Speaker 1: from the kickoff, it was off very first play. Yeah, man,
- 18:59Speaker 1: I don't want to say it was because of the
- 19:02Speaker 1: ten am start, but I can't say it didn't have
- 19:04Speaker 1: anything to do with it because it was weird. So
- 19:07Speaker 1: maybe it wasn't the time, but they did come out flat.
- 19:08Speaker 1: I mean, that's you can't lie. We saw what we saw.
- 19:11Speaker 1: We got one more ten am start the rest of
- 19:13Speaker 1: this way, so hopefully they can get that corrected next time.
- 19:16Speaker 1: Bounce back. Now, usually Hawks are winning, we get in
- 19:20Speaker 1: the greatest formation known to man, the Victy formation. But
- 19:24Speaker 1: didn't happen this week. Clocked his right out on this
- 19:30Speaker 1: a knee taken by Huntley. They're just gonna let the
- 19:33Speaker 1: clock wind down, Peach not even gonna bother taking that
- 19:35Speaker 1: last time out. We knew this was coming, right, We
- 19:41Speaker 1: knew this was coming they're not healthy this defense because
- 19:44Speaker 1: of a lot of points. I just think I just
- 19:46Speaker 1: didn't think it was coming against the Bills. Threw me all.
- 19:49Speaker 1: I mean, I think that they would potentially lose another
- 19:51Speaker 1: game the rest of the season. Yeah, I thought that
- 19:53Speaker 1: was possibility. I honestly, I did not think it was
- 19:55Speaker 1: happening this week. I really didn't. I thought, and I
- 19:57Speaker 1: still think the Seahawks are a better football team. But
- 19:59Speaker 1: josh Alan and the rest of the Bills they're ready
- 20:01Speaker 1: to go. They're ready to go. They punched us in
- 20:03Speaker 1: the mouth and we took us a little while to respond,
- 20:05Speaker 1: and they just played better. I mean, there's gonna be
- 20:08Speaker 1: days like this. It's National Football League. There's any days
- 20:10Speaker 1: when things don't go well and you turn the ball
- 20:13Speaker 1: before times, you're not gonna win the football game just
- 20:15Speaker 1: playing simple. And that's a fact, because when the Hawks
- 20:18Speaker 1: lose the turnover battle, they don't win the football game.
- 20:20Speaker 1: That's what the defense does. The defense causes turnovers. The
- 20:23Speaker 1: offense typically takes care of the ball. And it feels
- 20:26Speaker 1: like when Russell turns the ball over, he's like, look,
- 20:28Speaker 1: I'm gonna thought like two or three of these things
- 20:29Speaker 1: out there, all right, if I'm gonna turn it over,
- 20:32Speaker 1: I'm gonna turn it over. It's wild man. Yeah, the
- 20:35Speaker 1: last two games that we've lost, obviously, to have that
- 20:37Speaker 1: many interceptions and fumbles and stuff so uncharacteristic. But hey,
- 20:41Speaker 1: don't can't care of the football. You lose that game battle,
- 20:44Speaker 1: it's it's gonna be a long day. Especially it's one
- 20:47Speaker 1: thing you turn the ball be four times. With the
- 20:48Speaker 1: fact that we didn't even create any defensively, it's really
- 20:50Speaker 1: hard to win that way. Yep. But again, on the
- 20:53Speaker 1: bright side, they had seven sex. We've been begging, we've
- 20:55Speaker 1: been praying that this defensive line gets after the quarterback,
- 20:58Speaker 1: and that's exactly what they did. I liked what Dunlap
- 21:01Speaker 1: look look. I liked how he looked. He looked like
- 21:04Speaker 1: a guy who still got some gas in the tank.
- 21:06Speaker 1: It was kind of we're seeing him in that forty three.
- 21:10Speaker 1: I'm like, are you a fullback? Are you like? What
- 21:12Speaker 1: position are you playing? But he made it look good.
- 21:15Speaker 1: I got used to it as a game win along. Yeah,
- 21:17Speaker 1: for sure, I'll get used to whatever number if you're
- 21:19Speaker 1: out there getting sacks and putting pressure on the quarterback. Obviously,
- 21:21Speaker 1: all the nineties numbers were taken up. But no, it's
- 21:24Speaker 1: great to see him come in here, and especially with
- 21:25Speaker 1: all the noise in the offseason about whether Clowning's didn't
- 21:28Speaker 1: come back and whether the Seahawks and John Snider in
- 21:30Speaker 1: the front office made the right decision. I think this
- 21:32Speaker 1: is a great move bringing him in. For him to
- 21:34Speaker 1: come out of the gate like that, it's gonna be great.
- 21:36Speaker 1: And I expect him moving Ford. He kind of set
- 21:39Speaker 1: the bar eye right. I expect him to play well
- 21:42Speaker 1: every week, and I think when Mayo comes back, keep
- 21:44Speaker 1: all those guys fresh. We can see some really good
- 21:46Speaker 1: things on that D line. Hey, the great thing about
- 21:49Speaker 1: the NFL is as soon as Monday hits let's say Tuesday,
- 21:53Speaker 1: none of that matters anymore. It's on to the next
- 21:56Speaker 1: They're going to play the Rams there in Los Angeles,
- 21:58Speaker 1: I believe, yes, sir, the road going to LA going
- 22:02Speaker 1: back to Cali. Get it done. You you went against
- 22:04Speaker 1: the Rams, that's a big win. The Rams always play
- 22:07Speaker 1: the Seahawks tough. You know, they got some talent over there,
- 22:09Speaker 1: but I think they can get it done. It's town
- 22:11Speaker 1: to bounce Backhawks absolutely need too. We talked about this
- 22:13Speaker 1: every week. You have to own the NFC West. You
- 22:15Speaker 1: gotta beat the Rams. The good thing about the pressure
- 22:18Speaker 1: we saw from the Seahawks is that's the key to
- 22:20Speaker 1: being Jared Goff will talk a lot about that on
- 22:22Speaker 1: our preview podcast, Getting You Ready for the Rams. Just
- 22:25Speaker 1: reminder join us each and every Thursday from noon to
- 22:28Speaker 1: two for The Huddle, hosted by Tom, Jake and Stacy
- 22:30Speaker 1: along with Seahawks color analyst Dave Wyman. It's a chance
- 22:33Speaker 1: to hear directly from the Seahawks players as they prepare
- 22:35Speaker 1: for Sunday, and preview the game with the voice of
- 22:37Speaker 1: the Seahawks Steve Rabel and Ray Roberts. Bump get back
- 22:42Speaker 1: on the winning trail. Let's go to seven and two.
- 22:44Speaker 1: Let's own the NFC West and get get this thing wrong.
- 22:47Speaker 1: Let's get it rolling, all right, twelves, don't you give
- 22:49Speaker 1: up on this football team. Six and two. There's a
- 22:51Speaker 1: lot of teams that would love to be six and two.
- 22:53Speaker 1: That's all we got for you. I'm Michael Bumps. He's now.
- 22:56Speaker 1: That's a Shelby Hawk Talk recap edition. The Hawks fall
