- 0:01Speaker 1: Live on Sky News. This is Sharry.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Thanks Andrew, good evening, Welcome to the show, and we
- 0:10Speaker 2: start tonight with breaking news. Peter Dutton demands the Prime
- 0:14Speaker 2: Minister step in to cancel a heartless Palestinian rally planned
- 0:19Speaker 2: for October seven. I'm going to bring you that breaking
- 0:22Speaker 2: story in a moment, plus Albanesi's week leadership on display,
- 0:26Speaker 2: a social cohesion in Australia hangs by a thread, and
- 0:31Speaker 2: the ABC responds to the latest blunder by one of
- 0:34Speaker 2: its journalists. I'm also going to bring you full coverage
- 0:37Speaker 2: of Israel's ground raids and the missiles that hit Israel
- 0:41Speaker 2: in the past two hours.
- 0:42Speaker 3: Sharon Haskell will join.
- 0:44Speaker 2: Me live on the ground, plus a massive lineup tonight
- 0:47Speaker 2: James Patterson, Dave Shamer, Bronwin, Bishop, Kayla Bond and Michael
- 0:51Speaker 2: Kroger all.
- 0:53Speaker 3: On the show.
- 0:54Speaker 2: But first let's go to that breaking news. Peter Dutton
- 0:56Speaker 2: is tonight demanding the Government council a major pro Palestinian
- 1:01Speaker 2: rally planned for the anniversary of October seven on Monday.
- 1:06Speaker 2: Dutton says the timing is utterly sickening, and we learn
- 1:11Speaker 2: just moments ago that New South Wales Police have filed
- 1:15Speaker 2: a court motion to try stop this protest going ahead.
- 1:20Speaker 2: The Palestinian Action Group is planning to hold a mass gathering.
- 1:24Speaker 3: On the steps of town Hall.
- 1:26Speaker 2: This is almost a replica of the outrageous protest that
- 1:31Speaker 2: started there and ended at the Opera House a year ago.
- 1:35Speaker 2: The flyer promoting this event and you can see it here,
- 1:38Speaker 2: it says morning twelve months of genocide and terrorism, October seventh.
- 1:46Speaker 2: You can't get more insensitive than this. On the anniversary
- 1:51Speaker 2: of the day actual terrorists invaded Israel and murdered entire families,
- 1:57Speaker 2: killed babies in their cots, and raped teenage girls before
- 2:02Speaker 2: shooting them dead. This is the day the Palestinians want
- 2:07Speaker 2: to have a rally.
- 2:08Speaker 3: Absolutely not. This is not okay, It's not appropriate, not on.
- 2:13Speaker 2: The day where there was the greatest loss of Jewish
- 2:16Speaker 2: life since the Holocaust. Well, Peter Dutton Dohl told The
- 2:20Speaker 2: Daily Telegraph that the timing is wrong. He said, the
- 2:25Speaker 2: fact that these anti Jewish protest gatherings are being considered
- 2:28Speaker 2: and organized at a time when the Jewish community will
- 2:32Speaker 2: be commemorating the greatest loss of life since the Holocaust
- 2:36Speaker 2: is an utterly sickening and vile reflection on these protesters.
- 2:42Speaker 3: How low will they stoop?
- 2:45Speaker 2: Those are Peter Dutton's comments, and he says there needs
- 2:48Speaker 2: to be an urgent caught order to stop the event
- 2:52Speaker 2: going ahead. He's caught on alban Easy to put an
- 2:55Speaker 2: end to this, together the organizers to change the date.
- 3:00Speaker 2: He says, the Prime Minister needs to start showing leadership.
- 3:04Speaker 2: But I'm starting to think the Prime Minister is incapable
- 3:08Speaker 2: of leadership. He might have been a good local MP,
- 3:12Speaker 2: but he hasn't been good for Australia. He's allowed our
- 3:16Speaker 2: successful multicultural society to crumble. He's allowed racism to spread.
- 3:23Speaker 3: He's allowed one.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Community in particular to be targeted over and over again,
- 3:29Speaker 2: day in day out, with the perpetrators facing no consequences
- 3:34Speaker 2: at all. The Prime Minister has not only damaged our
- 3:38Speaker 2: diplomatic relations with Israel, but he's allowed support for terrorism
- 3:44Speaker 2: to flourish.
- 3:46Speaker 3: Under his watch.
- 3:47Speaker 2: The nature of our country has changed for the worse.
- 3:52Speaker 2: Where the most vile sentiments in society have been unleashed.
- 3:57Speaker 2: There are mosques holding services for a dead terrorist leader,
- 4:02Speaker 2: spitting in the face of Australian laws, and Albanizi does
- 4:07Speaker 2: nothing but Peter Dutton said today that if he were
- 4:11Speaker 2: Prime Minister, he would take action.
- 4:15Speaker 4: Firstly, mosque's holding themorial services for the hesbela leader.
- 4:19Speaker 3: It seems it seems deliberately provocative.
- 4:21Speaker 5: Well, it's very much provocative and it's unnecessary. Every Australian
- 4:26Speaker 5: would want somebody with the religious belief to be able
- 4:29Speaker 5: to practice relief that belief and go to a mosque,
- 4:32Speaker 5: go to a temple, go to a church, whatever it
- 4:34Speaker 5: might be. But to go there to glorify somebody who
- 4:39Speaker 5: has been responsible for literally hundreds or thousands of deaths,
- 4:42Speaker 5: a terrorist leader, a leader of a listed terrorist organization
- 4:46Speaker 5: is completely unaccepted.
- 4:47Speaker 6: What do you do without.
- 4:49Speaker 5: The police and the authorities at home Affairs should be
- 4:52Speaker 5: in deep discussions with themalms and with other leaders within
- 4:56Speaker 5: the community to make sure that they dial a temperature
- 4:59Speaker 5: down here, because this is going to end in tragedy
- 5:01Speaker 5: if we don't see an enforcement of the law and
- 5:05Speaker 5: people respecting our values and our laws in this country.
- 5:09Speaker 2: Dutton accuses Albanesi of weakness for failing to take action
- 5:13Speaker 2: ever since the Opera House protest. He's painting him as
- 5:17Speaker 2: weak and the perception is cementing quickly because it's true.
- 5:23Speaker 5: Why Carl, I mean, why not show the strength of
- 5:25Speaker 5: leadership that our nation requires. This is a very significant
- 5:28Speaker 5: point for us, and I don't believe any of his predecessors,
- 5:31Speaker 5: not Julia Gillard, not John Howard, not Bob Hawk, would
- 5:34Speaker 5: have acted with such weakness. And it permeates down.
- 5:39Speaker 3: Now.
- 5:39Speaker 2: ALBINIZI doesn't accept the criticism that he's weak, but he
- 5:43Speaker 2: should compare a strong leader like Natanyahu in Israel, or
- 5:48Speaker 2: even Dutton's own courage with the insipid and uninspiring Albanesi.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Editor Chris daw makes this excellent point in The Knightly.
- 5:58Speaker 2: He says, when the un U version of October seven
- 6:01Speaker 2: went down September eleventh, Australia went to war. Now he says,
- 6:09Speaker 2: we have gone to water. And he says, put simply,
- 6:12Speaker 2: the left detests Israel and supports what they believe is
- 6:16Speaker 2: the Palestinian Resistance, a movement that has long been affront
- 6:21Speaker 2: from murderous anti West Islamist terror cult and Dol writes
- 6:26Speaker 2: about how figures of the Left like Penny Wong and
- 6:29Speaker 2: Albanzi have simply appeased terrorist supporters.
- 6:35Speaker 3: He says Wog is exposed by her own words she
- 6:38Speaker 3: is the minister for Yes.
- 6:40Speaker 2: But Israel Albanizi might be an ordinary bloke and an
- 6:44Speaker 2: average prime minister, for which we can generally forgive him,
- 6:48Speaker 2: but he will never be forgotten for appeasing terrorists and
- 6:52Speaker 2: running an extraordinarily dangerous foreign policy. Now form Israeli Prime
- 6:58Speaker 2: Minister Golda may I once said.
- 7:01Speaker 3: That Israel would not ask permission to survive.
- 7:06Speaker 2: She said, we refuse absolutely to be the only people
- 7:10Speaker 2: in the world which consents to having its fate decided
- 7:14Speaker 2: by others. This wise message is worth remembering as Israel
- 7:20Speaker 2: fights for its survival, as the world tries to tie
- 7:23Speaker 2: its hands behind its back. The woke weak West calls
- 7:28Speaker 2: constantly for a ceasefire, including the Albanese government, and Israel's
- 7:34Speaker 2: response will first the execution of Nasrallah and now a
- 7:39Speaker 2: ground targeted raid to dismantle Hesbela forces. The terror organization
- 7:45Speaker 2: is crippled, beheaded, and now the IDF is targeting the
- 7:48Speaker 2: last remaining weapons and infrastructure. And today Israel announced limited
- 7:54Speaker 2: ground raids of Hesbela sites across the Lebanon border. The
- 7:58Speaker 2: Defense Minister Yoa Gallant met Israeli troops hours before these
- 8:04Speaker 2: young men and women put their life on the line
- 8:08Speaker 2: for the sake of freedom.
- 8:11Speaker 4: Demoshanzan, this is your mission and if we will employ
- 8:14Speaker 4: all that is needed, your forces, other forces, from the air,
- 8:18Speaker 4: from the sea, and also from the land.
- 8:21Speaker 2: Now it's important to note here that Israel is not
- 8:24Speaker 2: only defending its own citizens but liberating Lebanon from the
- 8:29Speaker 2: stranglehold of a murderous regime. Yet the West demanded a ceasefire,
- 8:35Speaker 2: and Joe Biden personally phone Net and Yahoo to urge
- 8:39Speaker 2: him to let Nasrallah be, not to go after him,
- 8:43Speaker 2: not to kill him, instead.
- 8:45Speaker 3: Have a ceasefire.
- 8:47Speaker 2: How pathetic are these woke and weak world leaders, and
- 8:52Speaker 2: the Australian government is among the worst of them.
- 8:56Speaker 4: We are gravely concerned at the escalation of this conflict
- 9:00Speaker 4: means the loss of more innocent life, and that's why
- 9:03Speaker 4: we have engaged in the international community, and that's why
- 9:07Speaker 4: we reiterate our calls for a ceasefire.
- 9:10Speaker 7: The number of civilians killed is just intolerable, and that's
- 9:13Speaker 7: why the government's calls for a ceasefire are so important.
- 9:17Speaker 8: Certainly calling for de escalation of the conflict in the
- 9:21Speaker 8: Middle East, so that remains our message.
- 9:23Speaker 3: That remains our message to Israel.
- 9:26Speaker 2: In fact, it's the Western leaders that are partly to
- 9:29Speaker 2: blame for these emboldened terrorists. Had the international community shown
- 9:34Speaker 2: unwavering solidarity with Israel in the wake of October seven,
- 9:39Speaker 2: Tehran may not have flexed its muscles and given the
- 9:43Speaker 2: green light to Hesblah and the Hooties. The international community
- 9:47Speaker 2: should have shown unequivocal strength in the face of Iran. Instead,
- 9:52Speaker 2: the West has perpetuated the false narrative that it's Israel
- 9:57Speaker 2: that's the aggressor and this is only emboldened Iran and
- 10:02Speaker 2: its terrorist proxies. The international community could have slapped the
- 10:06Speaker 2: strongest sanctions possible on the Ayatolas of Iran and put
- 10:11Speaker 2: a stranglehold on its financial and terrorism operations, but it chose.
- 10:16Speaker 3: Not to do so.
- 10:18Speaker 2: Israel has been drawn into this fight. The Jewish state
- 10:22Speaker 2: is on the front line of the war on terror,
- 10:25Speaker 2: and as The Wall Street Journal Editor at Large Gerard
- 10:28Speaker 2: Baker writes today in an excellent piece, the world should
- 10:32Speaker 2: be thanking Israel. He says, instead of constant calls for
- 10:35Speaker 2: a ceasefire, the only appropriate response to Israel's fortitude and
- 10:41Speaker 2: skill from its nominal allies should be thank you and
- 10:45Speaker 2: how can.
- 10:45Speaker 3: We help, he writes.
- 10:47Speaker 2: Instead, Time and time again, Israel's supposed friends, including the
- 10:53Speaker 2: administration of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, have, while expressing
- 10:57Speaker 2: sympathy over the outrage of October seventh and uttering the
- 11:01Speaker 2: usual support for Israel's right to defend itself, repeatedly tried
- 11:06Speaker 2: to restrain it.
- 11:06Speaker 3: From doing just that.
- 11:09Speaker 2: Do they not get that in the end, we have
- 11:11Speaker 2: to make a choice our ally on the front lines
- 11:16Speaker 2: of defense against barbarism, or our enemies, those who literally
- 11:21Speaker 2: want to see us all buried. And if Gerard Bacon
- 11:26Speaker 2: knew about Penny Wong and alber Easy, he'd add them
- 11:29Speaker 2: to the list of supposed friends too, because they've been
- 11:32Speaker 2: worse than even the Abiden administration, which at least voted
- 11:36Speaker 2: against the Prohamas United Nations resolution.
- 11:41Speaker 3: The line we constantly.
- 11:42Speaker 2: Hear from the international community is that Israel has a
- 11:46Speaker 2: right to defend itself. But but, but, every excuse under
- 11:52Speaker 2: the sun for why Israel shouldn't fight back, for why
- 11:56Speaker 2: Israel should just lay down arms and let the terrorists
- 12:00Speaker 2: live and thrive and kill its own people, Well, Israel
- 12:05Speaker 2: is not going to do that, no matter how many
- 12:08Speaker 2: times the likes of Katie Gallagher and Pennywog or Kamala
- 12:12Speaker 2: Harris or Emmanuel mccron lecture Israel it won't matter because
- 12:18Speaker 2: Israel won't ask others.
- 12:19Speaker 3: For permission to survive.
- 12:21Speaker 2: As Golda Maya said, Israel won't have its fate decided
- 12:26Speaker 2: by others. Well, as I mentioned, coming up on the
- 12:33Speaker 2: show tonight, Israeli politician Sharon Haskell. She'll be speaking about
- 12:37Speaker 2: Israel's targeted ground raids on Hezbala in Lebanon. Also James Patterson.
- 12:43Speaker 2: James Patterson joining me live. He's pretty angry over the
- 12:46Speaker 2: government's response to those protests on the weekend.
- 12:49Speaker 3: Also going to bring you.
- 12:50Speaker 2: The rest of the day's news, the other big stories
- 12:52Speaker 2: with my panels. But now let's bring in former Victorian
- 12:55Speaker 2: Liberal Party president Michael Kroger and Liberal Senator Dave shar Welcome.
- 13:01Speaker 3: To you both.
- 13:02Speaker 2: Well, let's start with the protests on the weekend. And
- 13:06Speaker 2: I'm not sure if you've seen this vision yet, if
- 13:07Speaker 2: anyone's even played it yet, but I was appoored to
- 13:10Speaker 2: see children at the rally surrounded by people who were
- 13:15Speaker 2: forcing them to be pictured with the terror leader Hassan
- 13:19Speaker 2: ISRAELA have a look at this footage Michael Kroeger, children
- 13:37Speaker 2: indoctrinated in Australia to support terrorism.
- 13:40Speaker 3: I mean it's next level.
- 13:43Speaker 2: What's your response to the lack of leadership we've seen
- 13:46Speaker 2: from this government.
- 13:48Speaker 9: Well, it's the type of thing that you see in Gaza,
- 13:51Speaker 9: when children at a young agent and indoctrinated in underschools
- 13:55Speaker 9: to hate Jewish people. This is a disgraceful development in
- 14:01Speaker 9: Australia today. And by the way, I didn't see anyone
- 14:05Speaker 9: I noticed is leaders said, oh, this was a small
- 14:07Speaker 9: group that came to the demonstrations. I didn't see anyone
- 14:11Speaker 9: asking them to leave. They seem to be quite happy
- 14:14Speaker 9: melling amongst all of the other demonstras there. No one
- 14:18Speaker 9: threw them out, no one reported them to the police.
- 14:20Speaker 9: They were quite accepted as part of that demonstration, which
- 14:24Speaker 9: is a disgusting thing to see. But the answer your
- 14:27Speaker 9: question is this. Look, if there's one legacy, which will
- 14:31Speaker 9: be one thing will be written about the Abanezy government
- 14:34Speaker 9: in the years ahead when they look back on this period,
- 14:37Speaker 9: he'll be remembered for one thing that the greatest rise
- 14:41Speaker 9: in anti Semitism and Jewish hatred happened in Australia on
- 14:44Speaker 9: his watch at as Prime Minister, and at a time
- 14:48Speaker 9: when Australia needed leadership, we got this weak, insipid, nervous,
- 14:54Speaker 9: jellyback prime minister in the big chair. When we needed
- 14:58Speaker 9: a bob Hawk John Howard let alone a rage or
- 15:02Speaker 9: thatcher to rud us. You know, we got Jimmy Carter
- 15:06Speaker 9: and that'll be his legacy. The Jewish hatred was seen
- 15:10Speaker 9: on the streets of Australia in the universities and Jews
- 15:13Speaker 9: were scared for their own safety under the watcher of
- 15:16Speaker 9: Anthony Albanezi.
- 15:17Speaker 2: Sharry indeed well said Dave Shima, you always take action
- 15:21Speaker 2: when you see horrific things unfolding and true to farm.
- 15:25Speaker 3: You've written a.
- 15:26Speaker 2: Letter to the Minister for Police after the protests in
- 15:29Speaker 2: Melbourne and Sydney. You're asking Victoria Police to identify breaches
- 15:34Speaker 2: of the code that makes it an offense to display
- 15:37Speaker 2: terror symbols. Why do you think the laws we have
- 15:40Speaker 2: in place haven't been used, not just on this occasion,
- 15:44Speaker 2: but over the past year.
- 15:47Speaker 10: I think the reason they haven't then used, Sherry, is
- 15:50Speaker 10: there's been no political directive or political appetite. I mean,
- 15:53Speaker 10: if you talk to some of the police who are
- 15:56Speaker 10: effectively escorting this protest marches and I did in Melbourne yesterday.
- 16:01Speaker 10: Their instructions are basically to try and keep the peace,
- 16:04Speaker 10: but not maintain and enforce our laws. They have no
- 16:08Speaker 10: political backing from their state ministers or state governments or
- 16:12Speaker 10: the federal government indeed to go in and demand the
- 16:16Speaker 10: removal or order the removal of these terrorist symbols and flags,
- 16:21Speaker 10: or to arrest people for chanting insightful or hateful slogans
- 16:26Speaker 10: or anything else. I mean, there is no political leadership
- 16:28Speaker 10: being shown here and the police are simply responding to
- 16:32Speaker 10: the political directives they get. And it's time that changed.
- 16:34Speaker 10: I mean, I think what we saw on Sunday, I
- 16:37Speaker 10: mean it's gotten become exceeded all bounds of decency and
- 16:42Speaker 10: normalcy several months ago. But surely after Sunday we have
- 16:46Speaker 10: to start taking some actions, and reluctant federal and state
- 16:50Speaker 10: government ministers need to start making sure that their law
- 16:53Speaker 10: enforcement authorities do what it is their tasks we're doing,
- 16:56Speaker 10: which is to enforce the law.
- 16:58Speaker 2: Look, I just fear that this is going to be
- 17:01Speaker 2: the same situation as we saw when police said they
- 17:03Speaker 2: were investigating October seven, and then they ended up holding
- 17:06Speaker 2: a press conference, as I said last night, gas lighting
- 17:09Speaker 2: the Jewish community. I fear that this is going to
- 17:12Speaker 2: end in nothing, because nothing has happened so far, so
- 17:16Speaker 2: I have lost faith that law enforcement will actually arrest
- 17:19Speaker 2: anyone here. There are more problems of the ABC though,
- 17:23Speaker 2: as you would know by now, one of the ABC's
- 17:26Speaker 2: journalists actually questioned Peter Darton today about why HESBLA was
- 17:32Speaker 2: a terror organization and why Israel's flags weren't banned.
- 17:36Speaker 3: It was utterly extraordinary.
- 17:37Speaker 2: If you haven't seen it yet, we'll play it quickly
- 17:39Speaker 2: again now.
- 17:41Speaker 5: Determined even though, men, where are you from? I'm sorry?
- 17:47Speaker 5: Which organization? ABC? So what's the question from the ABC?
- 17:53Speaker 6: Just to be very clear, I just wanted to point out,
- 17:56Speaker 6: because we're commented on the but you asked about the
- 17:59Speaker 6: listing of therzation.
- 18:00Speaker 5: I just didn't understand that questions.
- 18:08Speaker 11: Well.
- 18:08Speaker 5: I had presumed up until this point at least that
- 18:10Speaker 5: the ABC supported the government's laws, and the government has
- 18:14Speaker 5: passed laws supported on a bipartisan basis, but not by
- 18:18Speaker 5: the AVC. It seems in relation to the prescribing or
- 18:21Speaker 5: the listing of a terrorist organization HESBLA under Australian law
- 18:24Speaker 5: is a listed terrorist organization. Now, if the ABC doesn't
- 18:27Speaker 5: support that, they should be very clear about it, because
- 18:30Speaker 5: I think that's quite a departure. But you asked me
- 18:32Speaker 5: why why that? Why our country has listed hes Blah?
- 18:37Speaker 5: They're a terrorist organization that they organized terrorist attacks and
- 18:40Speaker 5: if that is not clear to the ABC, then I
- 18:43Speaker 5: think the ABC is in greater trouble. And even I
- 18:45Speaker 5: first imagined.
- 18:47Speaker 2: Michael Kroger, this is one of the worst cases of
- 18:50Speaker 2: anti Israel bias we've seen from the ABC, and there've
- 18:54Speaker 2: been a lot.
- 18:57Speaker 9: You know, they talk about group thing at the A
- 18:59Speaker 9: b C.
- 18:59Speaker 3: What what was in.
- 19:00Speaker 9: The mind of that journalist when she was at work
- 19:02Speaker 9: that morning talking to the people in News and Current
- 19:04Speaker 9: Affairs about what she might ask Dutton? Who were her
- 19:07Speaker 9: contact group, her friendship group, or were colleagues at the
- 19:10Speaker 9: ABC and elsewhere? That got her to the point where
- 19:14Speaker 9: she thought it was legitimate to ask Peter Dutton why
- 19:17Speaker 9: the Israeli flags are allowed to fly but not the Hesbalah flag,
- 19:20Speaker 9: or why is it a terrorist? I mean, for goodness sake,
- 19:24Speaker 9: what planet is that girl on? What planet is the
- 19:27Speaker 9: ABC on that they send a journalist to speak to
- 19:30Speaker 9: the opposition leader and they put that profoundly ignorant question
- 19:34Speaker 9: to Peter Dutton. The only remarkable thing about that exchange
- 19:38Speaker 9: was that Dutton kept you cool. He's a better man
- 19:40Speaker 9: than I am because he kept cool through that whole
- 19:43Speaker 9: thing despite an incredibly bizarre question from an ABC reporter.
- 19:49Speaker 9: Once again, shame on the ABC. And let's see their
- 19:52Speaker 9: explanation for this one. No doubt there'll be another investigation,
- 19:55Speaker 9: she'll be cleared, blah blah blah.
- 19:57Speaker 3: I mean, not even an investigation.
- 19:58Speaker 2: They've put out a statement saying that questions at a
- 20:01Speaker 2: press conference today were not a piece of reporting nor
- 20:04Speaker 2: a position being taken by the ABC, and they've just
- 20:07Speaker 2: said the ABC recognizes that Hesbela is a terror organization.
- 20:11Speaker 3: So very weak, Dave.
- 20:14Speaker 2: But Dardan's response there actually pulling the journalists up asking
- 20:18Speaker 2: where she was from. You know, it's just not the
- 20:22Speaker 2: sort of leadership we're seeing from the other side.
- 20:27Speaker 10: No, what this journalist did was utter publicly what they
- 20:32Speaker 10: all think privately in Altimo and South Bank. I mean,
- 20:36Speaker 10: this is actually the mindset that you see it from
- 20:39Speaker 10: some of Labour's own government ministers that effectively they treat
- 20:43Speaker 10: Israel a legitimate, democratic, liberal state on the same moral
- 20:49Speaker 10: footing as a terrorist organization, and I think they should
- 20:52Speaker 10: be held to the same standards of account in many respects.
- 20:55Speaker 10: In fact, they think that Israel should be held to
- 20:58Speaker 10: HESBLA shouldn't be held to any standards of accouncil behavior,
- 21:01Speaker 10: and Zelle should be held to one that exceeds what
- 21:03Speaker 10: we only what we demand of ourselves. I mean, this
- 21:06Speaker 10: is the sort of mindset and I'm glad Peter Dunnan
- 21:08Speaker 10: pulled it up because that sort of baseline assumptions that
- 21:12Speaker 10: informs a lot of the very bad journalism and reporting
- 21:16Speaker 10: we're seeing in Australia needs to be exposed for the
- 21:20Speaker 10: moral bankruptcy that it demonstrates.
- 21:22Speaker 2: Yeah, it's just extraordinary how they can be so much
- 21:26Speaker 2: And israe bias on the public broadcast. I don't know
- 21:28Speaker 2: how people can cope with watching it anymore or listening
- 21:32Speaker 2: to it. Before we go, I want to turn to
- 21:34Speaker 2: the Queensland election because the official election campaign kickoff happened today.
- 21:40Speaker 2: The Opposition has ruled out preferencing the Greens over labor.
- 21:44Speaker 2: We haven't seen this at a federal level, of course, Michael,
- 21:48Speaker 2: in many ways. This is going to be quite a
- 21:50Speaker 2: straightforward Queensland campaign.
- 21:51Speaker 3: We know who's going to win.
- 21:55Speaker 9: Here, we do, but Christoph fool has done the right
- 21:58Speaker 9: thing and no doubt at a federal level coalition will
- 22:00Speaker 9: put the Greens last, as they should behind every candidate.
- 22:05Speaker 9: I personally can't think of any regis to political party
- 22:07Speaker 9: who should be put behind the Greens. So I'm hoping
- 22:10Speaker 9: that at federal level the Greens go last as a
- 22:13Speaker 9: statement to this country that we will not have any
- 22:15Speaker 9: association with this anarchist collective of anti Israel politicians, some
- 22:22Speaker 9: of whom have exhibited anti Semitic behavior. But the real
- 22:28Speaker 9: challenge Shari will be does Anthony Alberanezi have the guts
- 22:32Speaker 9: to put the Greens last or is he going to
- 22:34Speaker 9: preference the Greens ahead of the Liberal Party and the
- 22:36Speaker 9: National Party That would be a disgrace given the extremism
- 22:41Speaker 9: of the Greens. He should say you're going last, and
- 22:44Speaker 9: if he doesn't, it'll cost him a lot more votes
- 22:46Speaker 9: than he thinks.
- 22:47Speaker 2: Yeah, Dave, I mean it's for labor here in Queensland.
- 22:51Speaker 2: It's not so much about winning the election. They're just
- 22:54Speaker 2: trying to hold on to some seats you know, save
- 22:57Speaker 2: the furniture to make the next election Campag not as difficult.
- 23:04Speaker 10: Look, I think I think that's right. But the moral
- 23:08Speaker 10: test that is being posed here is the same regardless
- 23:11Speaker 10: of what the outcome is like that have been and
- 23:13Speaker 10: Michael's entirely right that Queensland Labor should commit to doing
- 23:17Speaker 10: the same, that is putting preferencing the Greens behind or
- 23:21Speaker 10: last and not ahead of the Liberals, and Anthony Alberanesi
- 23:24Speaker 10: needs to be doing the same. I mean, I don't
- 23:26Speaker 10: know how often we hear Anthony Albanesi and pennywom and
- 23:29Speaker 10: Tony berknothers castigate the Greens for what they say is
- 23:33Speaker 10: the primary cause of the social discord we're seeing on
- 23:35Speaker 10: the streets. If they truly believe that, and if they
- 23:38Speaker 10: truly have Australia's interests at heart, and our society is
- 23:41Speaker 10: interest at heart, then Federal Labour needs to commit to
- 23:43Speaker 10: putting the Greens last at the upcoming.
- 23:45Speaker 2: Election one hundred percent. The Greens are such an easy target.
- 23:49Speaker 2: But you know, let your actions follow your words, and
- 23:53Speaker 2: we haven't seen that from Federal Labor all right. Michael Kroger,
- 23:56Speaker 2: Dave Shima really appreciate your time.
- 23:57Speaker 3: Thank you. Now let's turn to Tony Burke. Now, the Home.
- 24:02Speaker 2: Affairs Minister was asked today about the protests on the weekend,
- 24:07Speaker 2: the people flying the Hezbela flags, the terrorism celebrating the
- 24:12Speaker 2: dead terror leader Hassan Israla, and he managed to turn
- 24:16Speaker 2: his answer into an attack on Peter Dutton.
- 24:19Speaker 3: Have a listen with Peter Dutton.
- 24:22Speaker 7: It is always about the Middle East and never about
- 24:25Speaker 7: Middle Australia.
- 24:26Speaker 6: The moment, it's.
- 24:27Speaker 7: About something on the other side of the world. Peter
- 24:29Speaker 7: Dunnan wants to talk about that and nothing else.
- 24:33Speaker 2: All right, let's bring in now Shadow Home Affairs Minister
- 24:35Speaker 2: James Patterson. James, thank you very much for your time
- 24:39Speaker 2: this evening. Look, we have seen yet again a very
- 24:43Speaker 2: weak and slow response from the Albanezy government to terror supporters,
- 24:48Speaker 2: thousands and thousands of them taking to the street. What's
- 24:52Speaker 2: your criticism of how the government and law enforcement have handled.
- 24:56Speaker 3: This and do you have any confidence in.
- 24:58Speaker 2: The investigations that both the AFP and New Southoles Police
- 25:01Speaker 2: are our running.
- 25:04Speaker 8: Sharry, I don't want to shock Tony Burke, but in
- 25:07Speaker 8: breaking news, the cities of Melbourne and Sydney are in
- 25:10Speaker 8: fact located in the country of Australia. They're not in
- 25:13Speaker 8: the Middle East, and what we saw happening in those
- 25:16Speaker 8: cities on Sunday should be of concern to every Australian politician.
- 25:21Speaker 3: In fact, in.
- 25:21Speaker 8: Many ways they've got nothing to do with the Middle East.
- 25:24Speaker 8: The Middle East might be the catalyst for what we saw,
- 25:27Speaker 8: but it's about our country and what we're willing to
- 25:29Speaker 8: accept and tolerate here. And Peter Dunt't has taken a
- 25:32Speaker 8: very strong stand that it's actually not okay to glorify terrorism,
- 25:36Speaker 8: to support terrorist organizations and to wave their flags in
- 25:39Speaker 8: the cities of our country. And if Tony Burke has
- 25:43Speaker 8: quarreled with that, if he disagrees with that, he should
- 25:45Speaker 8: just stand up and say so. If he had the
- 25:47Speaker 8: courage of his convictions, he would do so. Coming your
- 25:49Speaker 8: question about the police investigations, I have been pleased that
- 25:53Speaker 8: it appears that the Albanezer government and the Australian Federal
- 25:57Speaker 8: Police have finally got the message from the community that
- 26:00Speaker 8: this is unacceptable and that the law must be enforced.
- 26:04Speaker 8: Because today Onscy News, a Deputy Commissioner of the AFP,
- 26:08Speaker 8: Chrissy Barrett, is head of National Security for the AFP
- 26:11Speaker 8: said that she's confident in the cases that the AFP
- 26:14Speaker 8: plans to bring to court in relation to these offenses.
- 26:18Speaker 8: Now that's a big leap from what they started saying
- 26:20Speaker 8: on Monday morning, which is no charges will be laid
- 26:23Speaker 8: because no offenses will be committed. I think finally the
- 26:26Speaker 8: message just got through to the AFP.
- 26:28Speaker 2: Yeah, it's Look, we'll have to see whether they actually
- 26:31Speaker 2: take it seriously this time, because we've seen investigations before
- 26:34Speaker 2: and we have seen no arrests at all. Look, we're
- 26:37Speaker 2: also learning today that the Anti Semitism Envoy has recommended
- 26:43Speaker 2: a judicial inquiry into anti Semitism and the Albanezy government
- 26:47Speaker 2: has rejected it. At the same time, we heard on
- 26:50Speaker 2: radio this morning Tony Burke say that no one faces
- 26:54Speaker 2: more racism than a Muslim woman wearing a burka.
- 26:58Speaker 3: Do you think the government just actually doesn't care about Jews?
- 27:05Speaker 8: So I wish I could have a strong and persuasive
- 27:07Speaker 8: argument against that suggestion, but it's really hard to come
- 27:10Speaker 8: to the defense of the government here on this. We
- 27:13Speaker 8: have seen an unprecedented antisemitism crisis in our country over
- 27:17Speaker 8: the last twelve months. We have seen Jews who've lived
- 27:20Speaker 8: safely and happily in Australia for all their lives, say
- 27:24Speaker 8: that they feel unsafe, so much so they're contemplating moving
- 27:27Speaker 8: to Israel, a country under attack from three terrorist organizations
- 27:31Speaker 8: right now, because they think they might feel safer there
- 27:33Speaker 8: than they do in the streets of our major cities.
- 27:36Speaker 8: And it is deeply disappointing that the Albinezi government has
- 27:39Speaker 8: ignored the advice of their handpicked antisemitism envoy about the
- 27:44Speaker 8: need to have a inquiry in judicial inquiry into antisemitism
- 27:48Speaker 8: on campus because what we've seen happen on our campuses
- 27:51Speaker 8: since the seventh October is utterly unacceptable, and for Labor
- 27:55Speaker 8: to turn their backs on Jewish students and others who've
- 27:58Speaker 8: been horrified by what we've seen on camp shows, they
- 28:00Speaker 8: just don't understand the serious moral challenge posed by anti Semitism,
- 28:05Speaker 8: how corrosive it is for our society, and how critical
- 28:07Speaker 8: it is that we stand up to it with courage.
- 28:10Speaker 2: I also want to ask you about the comments or
- 28:13Speaker 2: the question that the ABC journalist asked Peter Dutton today.
- 28:16Speaker 3: I just played it a moment ago.
- 28:19Speaker 2: You know, this is typical of the anti Israel bias
- 28:21Speaker 2: we're seeing, but it is a taxpayer funded organization of
- 28:25Speaker 2: billion dollars a year, so doesn't there need to be
- 28:28Speaker 2: some accountability and what can be done?
- 28:33Speaker 5: Shari?
- 28:33Speaker 8: Only a journalist at the ABC would think that it's
- 28:35Speaker 8: an appropriate question to ask, why don't we ban the
- 28:38Speaker 8: display of Israeli flags in Australia and why has been
- 28:43Speaker 8: listed as a terrorist organization. I'll deny this if you
- 28:46Speaker 8: say that I said it, Sharry, but fair. Actually, there'd
- 28:48Speaker 8: be even journalists at the ABC who would be appalled
- 28:51Speaker 8: by that, Some good journalists there who'd be hanging their
- 28:53Speaker 8: heads in shame tonight. But in the spirit of helpfulness,
- 28:55Speaker 8: let me assist the journalists at the ABC. Hezbola was
- 28:58Speaker 8: founded in nineteen eighty two. Their first terrorist attack was
- 29:01Speaker 8: nineteen eighty three. It was against the US embassy in Beirut.
- 29:04Speaker 8: Eighty three people were killed. The next year they attacked
- 29:07Speaker 8: US and French marine barracks, where two hundred and ninety
- 29:09Speaker 8: nine people were killed. The next year they bombed a
- 29:11Speaker 8: restaurant in Spain where eighteen people were killed. Skipping forward
- 29:15Speaker 8: a decade or so, in Buenos Aires, they bombed both
- 29:18Speaker 8: the Israeli embassy, killing twenty nine people and a Jewish
- 29:21Speaker 8: community center killing eighty five people. Skipping again ahead a
- 29:24Speaker 8: decade or two. They assassinated the former Prime Minister of
- 29:27Speaker 8: Lebanon in two thousand and five, killing twenty two people.
- 29:30Speaker 8: And I could go on and on and on. His
- 29:32Speaker 8: blot has destroyed Lebanon. They've done enormous damage in Syria.
- 29:36Speaker 8: They've attacked Israel. They are rightly listed as a terrorist organization.
- 29:39Speaker 8: And it is only someone at the ABC who could
- 29:42Speaker 8: not understand those facts.
- 29:44Speaker 2: Yeah, indeed, all right, James Patterson, thank you so much
- 29:46Speaker 2: for your strength and your courage in fighting on this topic.
- 29:49Speaker 2: Appreciate your time tonight as well. Now still to come,
- 29:52Speaker 2: the human toll of the pandemic revealed, as experts claimed
- 29:56Speaker 2: policymakers overlooked social cohesion and mental health went pushing public orders. Plus,
- 30:02Speaker 2: we're live to Israel with the latest on the ground
- 30:05Speaker 2: raids on Hesbelai, Israeli m P. Sharon Haschool would join
- 30:09Speaker 2: me next. We're coming up in a moment Rodwin Bishop
- 30:15Speaker 2: and Kayleb bond on the other big stories around today,
- 30:17Speaker 2: including the mental health impact of the COVID lockdowns.
- 30:21Speaker 3: But now let's go live to Israel, where it has
- 30:24Speaker 3: just been the.
- 30:25Speaker 2: Recipient of Hesbela rockets and missiles just in the past
- 30:28Speaker 2: couple of hours. Let's bring in now Israeli politician Sharon Haskell,
- 30:33Speaker 2: who's live in Kafar Sabah in Israel.
- 30:36Speaker 3: Sharon, thank you for joining us. So tell us what's
- 30:39Speaker 3: happened Sharon just two hours ago? Well, to be.
- 30:44Speaker 12: Honest, tomorrow's the Israeli New Year, and I was here
- 30:47Speaker 12: at my backyard hanging the fairy lights. When I heard
- 30:50Speaker 12: the alarms. I ran straight into my shelter here in
- 30:54Speaker 12: the home. In Israel, every home has a shelter. Almost
- 30:57Speaker 12: everyone care of five calling the kindergarten to make sure
- 31:02Speaker 12: that my little girls are okay. And you know what,
- 31:07Speaker 12: sharing that's the reality of almost every single day of
- 31:11Speaker 12: some of our citizens here the northern part of Israel,
- 31:15Speaker 12: every single day was hammered by missiles act on a
- 31:21Speaker 12: daily basis. Towns were destroyed.
- 31:25Speaker 3: Yeah, which is or cans.
- 31:29Speaker 2: Sorry, we're losing your audio a bit there, Sharon will Yes,
- 31:33Speaker 2: we can.
- 31:33Speaker 3: We'll try and stick with it. I was gonna ask you, though,
- 31:36Speaker 3: you know, Hezbela has launched.
- 31:40Speaker 2: Missile rocket attacks every single day, eight thousand rockets since
- 31:44Speaker 2: October the eighth. Now Israel has said enough is enough.
- 31:49Speaker 2: As you said, it's the Jewish New year Russiashana. Tomorrow,
- 31:53Speaker 2: there's going to be young men and women, teenagers, early
- 31:57Speaker 2: twenties who are missing from the table celebrating the new
- 32:01Speaker 2: year because they are going to have to be going
- 32:03Speaker 2: into Lebanon to try and target these Hezbola operations that
- 32:08Speaker 2: are still standing.
- 32:12Speaker 11: Yeah, locally, first of all, we have our soldiers or
- 32:17Speaker 11: heroes who are you know, they're going and risking themselves
- 32:21Speaker 11: and they're not going to be in their families new year.
- 32:23Speaker 12: To make sure that we is rarely citizens can celebrate
- 32:27Speaker 12: the new year safely and securely. And the other thing
- 32:30Speaker 12: is another one hundred and one hostages who for a
- 32:34Speaker 12: year now are being held in hamas dungeons of torture
- 32:38Speaker 12: and they're not going to celebrate with their family either. Babies, children, sisters, brothers,
- 32:43Speaker 12: grandparents who are not going to be in the loving
- 32:47Speaker 12: arms of their families. And it's absolutely heartbreaking. This is
- 32:51Speaker 12: going to be a very difficult new year for all
- 32:54Speaker 12: of us. And I think that this is something that
- 32:57Speaker 12: no other country would have accepted.
- 33:00Speaker 3: No, absolutely not.
- 33:01Speaker 2: Well, big revelations today reported by both The Times of
- 33:05Speaker 2: Israel also the Daily Telegraph here that hamasa's Lebanese leader,
- 33:09Speaker 2: Fatah Sharif is now dead. Of course, that he was
- 33:13Speaker 2: actually linked to UNRA, this is the discredited United Nations
- 33:17Speaker 2: Relief and Works Agency.
- 33:19Speaker 3: He was the principal of a.
- 33:20Speaker 2: Secondary school which was operated by UNRA. This is a
- 33:23Speaker 2: Hamas leader, Sharon. The Australian government, as you know, reinstated
- 33:30Speaker 2: funding to UNRA before the independent investigation was even complete.
- 33:34Speaker 3: Millions and millions and millions.
- 33:36Speaker 2: Of dollars have gone from the Australian government to UNRA,
- 33:41Speaker 2: Pennywong and Albanize. He says, it's an important organization. How
- 33:44Speaker 2: much more proof do you think Australia and the international
- 33:47Speaker 2: community need that this is an organization linked to terrorism?
- 33:54Speaker 12: Well, your government knows that. We've been warning them for
- 33:58Speaker 12: years about there are thousands of terrorists of Ramas andris
- 34:06Speaker 12: Bella who are on the paycheck of Australian taxpayers money.
- 34:10Speaker 12: They are paying the salary of those terrorists. And you
- 34:13Speaker 12: know what, it's very simple for the Australian governments to
- 34:16Speaker 12: also check it. They can ask for Israel the list
- 34:19Speaker 12: of Haramas activists. You know they have that information, and
- 34:23Speaker 12: they can ask from the United Nations the list of
- 34:25Speaker 12: the employees of ANDRA. If they just cross them, they
- 34:29Speaker 12: know exactly who is a terrorist, but they just ignore it.
- 34:33Speaker 12: It's very easy to ignore the facts. It's very easy
- 34:36Speaker 12: to ignore the truth when you don't want to accept it.
- 34:39Speaker 11: But they know it.
- 34:41Speaker 3: They've known it for years.
- 34:43Speaker 12: And that's why in the past many governments have stop
- 34:45Speaker 12: funding ANRA because they understand that they are finding terrorism.
- 34:49Speaker 12: On a one hand, they declare Chrisbela and other organizations
- 34:54Speaker 12: as terrorist organization, but at the other hand they feed
- 34:57Speaker 12: them with Australian money, which is actually the absurd.
- 35:01Speaker 2: That is a big claim that you've just made their
- 35:04Speaker 2: Sharon Haskell, and I think you're right that there are
- 35:06Speaker 2: terrorists who are receiving their paycheck from Australian taxpayer funds.
- 35:11Speaker 2: That is so outrageous, particularly during a cost of living crisis,
- 35:15Speaker 2: our hard earned tax paid dollars going to support terrorism.
- 35:19Speaker 2: Sharon Haskell, stay safe, May your daughters stay safe and
- 35:23Speaker 2: have a happy new year. Now plenty more to come,
- 35:27Speaker 2: the multi million dollar boost to fight supermarket misconduct, plus
- 35:31Speaker 2: the US election heating up with Trump taking another swipe
- 35:35Speaker 2: at Kamala Harris, this time over a staged photograph. Brodwin
- 35:40Speaker 2: Bishop and Calebond will join me next Welcome backwards time
- 35:47Speaker 2: to talk about the rest of the day's top stories
- 35:49Speaker 2: and joining me in the studio former Speaker of the
- 35:52Speaker 2: House Brodern Bishop.
- 35:53Speaker 3: And Sky News host cayleb Bond. Great cee you both now.
- 35:57Speaker 2: Labor is committing an extra thirty millillion dollars in funding
- 36:01Speaker 2: for the A Triple C, the nation's consumer watchdog. This
- 36:05Speaker 2: is an order, it says, to boost its fight against
- 36:08Speaker 2: the badly behaving supermarkets. The investment will reportedly beef up
- 36:12Speaker 2: the A Triple C's monitoring and investigation skills, its ability.
- 36:17Speaker 3: Here was the Treasurer making this announcement today.
- 36:20Speaker 4: We don't want to see ordinary Australians and families and
- 36:24Speaker 4: pensioners being taken for a ride by the supermarkets, and
- 36:28Speaker 4: we're taking steps to make sure that they get a
- 36:31Speaker 4: fair ago at the checkout.
- 36:35Speaker 2: Ronwin look, I think the government was trying to turn
- 36:38Speaker 2: the supermarkets into villains. But given the evidence we heard
- 36:42Speaker 2: last week about the alleged misconduct, the fake discounts, it's.
- 36:48Speaker 3: Pretty outrageous behavior.
- 36:50Speaker 2: The supermarkets deserve everything coming to them, if that's what
- 36:52Speaker 2: they were doing.
- 36:54Speaker 6: Two points to make. I think firstly, they're playing catch
- 36:57Speaker 6: up with the nationals who were always on this issue,
- 37:01Speaker 6: and we're out front in it, so they're trying to
- 37:02Speaker 6: catch up. Secondly, I think you were entitled cynical that
- 37:08Speaker 6: when things aren't looking good for them and these issues
- 37:11Speaker 6: that we've been discussing tonight are really front of mine,
- 37:14Speaker 6: they want to change the story. But thirty and more importantly,
- 37:18Speaker 6: that's the behavior of Cols and Woollies themselves. If they
- 37:22Speaker 6: had been functioning and looking at their bottom line and
- 37:27Speaker 6: getting profits legally and economically for their shareholders, and conducting
- 37:32Speaker 6: the business and accordance with proper business principles instead of
- 37:36Speaker 6: being into die, instead of being into environmental and social
- 37:41Speaker 6: and whatever it is.
- 37:44Speaker 2: Esg lens of dollars eat Voice campaign as well, but
- 37:49Speaker 2: the government hasn't helped it.
- 37:51Speaker 6: If they had been doing their job properly, then they
- 37:54Speaker 6: wouldn't be in this mess. But have you notice that
- 37:57Speaker 6: the three companies that have got into most trouble with
- 38:00Speaker 6: the Voice, Woolies, Corals and Quantas, they'll put a woman
- 38:03Speaker 6: in to run it, a bit like the Labor Party
- 38:06Speaker 6: put in Carmen Lawrence and put in whatever a name
- 38:09Speaker 6: was down there in Victoria. So there's a cynicism around.
- 38:16Speaker 6: But I think the main lesson to learn is if
- 38:19Speaker 6: you're in business, conduct your business properly. Don't start to
- 38:23Speaker 6: look at all sorts of other years and try and
- 38:26Speaker 6: suck up and be important and what do you think
- 38:28Speaker 6: is the government of the day, And that way you
- 38:32Speaker 6: wouldn't get into this sort of bad practice.
- 38:34Speaker 3: I think it's a good point. Caleb In said.
- 38:37Speaker 2: You know, Bronwin says, instead of wasting money millions of
- 38:40Speaker 2: dollars supporting social campaigns, you know, then they wouldn't perhaps
- 38:44Speaker 2: have needed to make it up by giving these fake discounts,
- 38:48Speaker 2: you know, where they told people that an item had
- 38:50Speaker 2: been discounted, whereas in fact it was higher than its
- 38:52Speaker 2: original price.
- 38:54Speaker 1: It's clearly dodgy, right, And I have no problem with
- 38:56Speaker 1: the a Triple C being given more money to go
- 38:59Speaker 1: and fight that kind of thing, because that is exactly
- 39:01Speaker 1: what the age troop will see ought to be doing.
- 39:03Speaker 1: The money is also supposedly going to look at things
- 39:06Speaker 1: like opening up more land so you could have more
- 39:08Speaker 1: competitors move into space, because currently the supermarkets supposedly engage
- 39:12Speaker 1: in land banking where they buy up lands and other
- 39:15Speaker 1: people can't move in there. One can't do anything well
- 39:18Speaker 1: exactly because it's a state and council issue in terms
- 39:21Speaker 1: of planning, right, But this is manner from heaven for
- 39:25Speaker 1: the government at the moment. Let's be real about what's
- 39:28Speaker 1: going on. The supermarkets have probably engaged in dodgy conduct
- 39:33Speaker 1: when it comes to discounting, but when you look at
- 39:36Speaker 1: their profit margins, they operate on pretty small profit margins.
- 39:40Speaker 1: Large profits because they're big businesses, but their profit margin
- 39:44Speaker 1: is quite small. What the government is trying to do
- 39:47Speaker 1: here is say, don't worry about us and cost of living. Look,
- 39:51Speaker 1: it's those bad supermarkets over there. They're the ones that
- 39:54Speaker 1: are causing you to not have any money at the
- 39:56Speaker 1: end of the week. It's not really about the supermarkets.
- 40:00Speaker 1: One hundred other businesses involved. Before a product gets to
- 40:02Speaker 1: the supermarket that leads to prices going up. They're trying
- 40:05Speaker 1: to pin the cost of living on the.
- 40:07Speaker 2: Superman, ad on the r B, A, RBA and the supermarket,
- 40:11Speaker 2: which is hardly right, but it's not entirely true.
- 40:14Speaker 1: They're just shifting the blame over there.
- 40:18Speaker 2: There's also the picture of the government spending and the
- 40:20Speaker 2: other government's actions are high migration numbers that are putting
- 40:23Speaker 2: pressure on the cost of living crisis as well. Now
- 40:26Speaker 2: let's turn to the US election and Donald Trump has
- 40:29Speaker 2: accused Kamala Harris of staging a fake photo that she
- 40:33Speaker 2: posted on social media in light of Hurricane Helene. In
- 40:37Speaker 2: the photo, as you can see here, Harris is wearing
- 40:40Speaker 2: an earphone that isn't attached to the iPhone in front
- 40:44Speaker 2: of her. When Trump lasted her on x he wrote,
- 40:48Speaker 2: another fake and stage photo from someone who has no
- 40:51Speaker 2: clue what she's doing.
- 40:52Speaker 3: You have to plug the cord into the phone for
- 40:56Speaker 3: it to work, Rodan.
- 40:58Speaker 2: That's quite funny, Trump, and funnier than his other insult
- 41:02Speaker 2: at Kamala this week, where he basically said she was
- 41:05Speaker 2: mentally impained.
- 41:06Speaker 3: That was probably too unkind.
- 41:08Speaker 6: Well, firstly, I think the fact that this photograph is
- 41:13Speaker 6: taken inside an aeroplane. It reminded me very much of
- 41:16Speaker 6: the photograph that was taken of George W. Bush when
- 41:20Speaker 6: he flew over the results of Katrina down in New
- 41:26Speaker 6: Orleans and was shown to be totally and utterly out
- 41:30Speaker 6: of touch. Because it was the photograph that was released
- 41:34Speaker 6: that was meant to make him look compassionate and showed
- 41:37Speaker 6: him to be disengaged.
- 41:38Speaker 3: And I got exactly the same.
- 41:40Speaker 6: Reaction when I looked at that photograph, And I think
- 41:42Speaker 6: that Trump was perfectly entitled to point out that this
- 41:47Speaker 6: is a fake photograph. It's a fake message being put across.
- 41:50Speaker 3: She didn't go down.
- 41:51Speaker 6: She says she's not going down there because she doesn't
- 41:54Speaker 6: want to impede first responders.
- 41:58Speaker 3: George W. Bush used exactly.
- 42:00Speaker 6: The same reason for not going in earlier in twenty fifteen.
- 42:05Speaker 6: You'd think with her handlers trying to manage her within
- 42:09Speaker 6: an inch of a life, they just might have remembered that,
- 42:12Speaker 6: don't you think.
- 42:13Speaker 2: Well, yeah, you would say so, especially seeing as they're
- 42:16Speaker 2: reportedly Barack Obama's advisors that have come in, so they
- 42:19Speaker 2: do have some experience. But Caleb, I want to make
- 42:21Speaker 2: the broader point here that I think Donald Trump's in trouble.
- 42:26Speaker 2: I think he still hasn't adapted his campaign to face
- 42:30Speaker 2: Kamala Harris. He doesn't know how to handle her, and
- 42:34Speaker 2: he's resorting to personal taxes all over the place. There's
- 42:37Speaker 2: no central campaign strategy.
- 42:39Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, you certainly flipped the script when Kamala came
- 42:42Speaker 1: along as opposed to Biden. I mean, you know, hitting
- 42:44Speaker 1: Biden over the head was the easiest job you could
- 42:46Speaker 1: possibly have, and the attacks haven't worked to this point.
- 42:50Speaker 1: But that's who Trump is, That's how he campaigns, right,
- 42:54Speaker 1: So that's not going to change overnight. What really matters
- 42:57Speaker 1: is less what's he saying about Kamala and a mental impairment.
- 43:02Speaker 1: I mean, look, she wasn't mentally confident enough to realize
- 43:04Speaker 1: that the phone was not plugged into the headphones in
- 43:06Speaker 1: the photo. So we may have a point there. It
- 43:10Speaker 1: will come down.
- 43:13Speaker 3: She might, it may not be a genius.
- 43:15Speaker 1: No, I think that is that is that is correct.
- 43:17Speaker 1: Maybe that headphone is actually plugged into another device with
- 43:21Speaker 1: the people telling her what to actually.
- 43:22Speaker 2: Say it was plugged densman iPad Biden's handlers.
- 43:25Speaker 1: But it as to the broader point of Trump being
- 43:28Speaker 1: in trouble, he is in trouble to a degree. But
- 43:30Speaker 1: forget about the national polls. It's all about those swing states, right,
- 43:36Speaker 1: and the polling is all over the shop When it
- 43:38Speaker 1: comes to those swing states. He's still very much in
- 43:41Speaker 1: the race. It's just not as much in the race
- 43:42Speaker 1: as he was when when Trump was there.
- 43:44Speaker 2: IM mean, his campaign is in trouble. He doesn't know
- 43:46Speaker 2: how to fight o'bronwin.
- 43:48Speaker 6: I don't agree with that. He's just been what he
- 43:50Speaker 6: is Trump and getting out there and fighting on his issues.
- 43:54Speaker 6: And I think that it's a curious way that the
- 43:58Speaker 6: people have been close to him and become commentators on
- 44:02Speaker 6: him or say, oh, he's making mistake. Oh he's doing
- 44:04Speaker 6: this in doing the work for the Democrats in a way,
- 44:08Speaker 6: So I think that's quite pointless.
- 44:10Speaker 3: He is being what he is.
- 44:12Speaker 6: He's saying, I'm a businessman, I can run the place.
- 44:15Speaker 6: I'll get you out of trouble. The country was in
- 44:18Speaker 6: much better position when I was president before. Now come
- 44:21Speaker 6: with me again and please turn out and please turn
- 44:25Speaker 6: up to start policing that the voting procedures are in
- 44:31Speaker 6: fact proper.
- 44:32Speaker 1: All right, and this keeps him in the headlines.
- 44:35Speaker 2: We've only got a couple of minutes left and I
- 44:37Speaker 2: still want to get to two topics. So Caleb, I
- 44:39Speaker 2: want to ask you about this reporting that's unfolding in
- 44:43Speaker 2: the Herald on the COVID pandemic, on how policy health
- 44:46Speaker 2: officials overlooked the impacts on mental health and social cohesion
- 44:50Speaker 2: and that's obvious, isn't it.
- 44:52Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean blind Freddie could have seen that, and
- 44:54Speaker 1: the Herald's got together a group of people including Mick
- 44:57Speaker 1: Fuller and Linda Scott and others who were involved in
- 45:00Speaker 1: certain levels of oversight over COVID at the time.
- 45:05Speaker 11: We know that.
- 45:06Speaker 1: I mean everyone could see that at the time, but
- 45:10Speaker 1: everyone persisted with the same policies that they started with
- 45:13Speaker 1: in March twenty twenty.
- 45:15Speaker 2: All right, let's turn to Tony Burke. I know Brannwin
- 45:19Speaker 2: wants to have USA and Tony Burke he was asked
- 45:21Speaker 2: on radio this morning about the appointment of an envoy
- 45:25Speaker 2: for Islamophobia.
- 45:26Speaker 3: Have a listened to what he had to say.
- 45:29Speaker 7: If you go to who is the person most likely
- 45:32Speaker 7: to be targeted for abuse in Australia right now, it's
- 45:36Speaker 7: an Islamic woman wearing hay shirt and voy.
- 45:39Speaker 2: I should say not envoy and islamophobia and voice so
- 45:42Speaker 2: bron when he's saying the person in Australia most likely
- 45:45Speaker 2: to be targeted is a Muslim woman in a hej
- 45:48Speaker 2: app Here's a disgrace.
- 45:50Speaker 3: He's just a disgrace.
- 45:53Speaker 6: Look. I went down to Melbourne a couple of months ago,
- 45:57Speaker 6: and I went to address a group of Jewish people.
- 46:03Speaker 6: To get into that venue, there was a big gate
- 46:06Speaker 6: that had to be opened, and somebody indicating we could
- 46:10Speaker 6: drive in. The gate had to be shut. Then there
- 46:13Speaker 6: were bollards that had to be put down and a
- 46:15Speaker 6: barrier had to.
- 46:16Speaker 3: Be raised up.
- 46:17Speaker 6: This was the security that was needed for these people
- 46:21Speaker 6: to have safety. How on earth can that man make
- 46:25Speaker 6: such a statement when there are people who are quivering
- 46:28Speaker 6: every day, frightened for their kids at school, not putting
- 46:32Speaker 6: them in school uniforms, not letting them be identified as
- 46:36Speaker 6: being Jewish because they're terrified. But what's going to happen
- 46:39Speaker 6: to them? Only a man as insensitive as Tony Burke,
- 46:43Speaker 6: and a look at his history you can just see
- 46:46Speaker 6: what a slippery character he is. But to have sold
- 46:49Speaker 6: his soul to the degree he has where he will
- 46:53Speaker 6: not recognize that anti Semitism is rife in this country
- 46:57Speaker 6: right now, and that all he can say is that
- 47:00Speaker 6: really it doesn't exist, because I am looking after my patch,
- 47:04Speaker 6: to look after my seat and the adjoining seats.
- 47:06Speaker 3: It's not good enough.
- 47:08Speaker 6: The Labor Party's leadership is pathetically weak. It is Albanese's
- 47:12Speaker 6: fault that there's going to be a planned demonstration on
- 47:17Speaker 6: the occasion of the seventh of October. And he chooses
- 47:20Speaker 6: to make this announcement today when in fact there are
- 47:23Speaker 6: people going to court to try and stop it happening.
- 47:26Speaker 3: What sort of a government is this?
- 47:28Speaker 2: He is living in an alternate first Bronman, Bishop Kyle Bond,
- 47:32Speaker 2: thank you.
- 47:33Speaker 3: Now.
- 47:33Speaker 2: After the break, some major news about next week's program.
- 47:37Speaker 2: Don't miss the details. Well, on Monday, it will be
- 47:44Speaker 2: one year since the October seven attacks. It'll be a
- 47:47Speaker 2: very significant and emotional day. One year that Israel has
- 47:51Speaker 2: been at war trying to bring its people, the hostages home.
- 47:56Speaker 2: One year since baby Kafir and his brother Ariel napped.
- 48:00Speaker 2: They haven't been visited by the Red Cross or any
- 48:03Speaker 2: of the aid agencies. Well, to mark this momentous occasion,
- 48:09Speaker 2: the one year on from the anniversary of the worst
- 48:11Speaker 2: loss of life on the Jewish community, I will be
- 48:14Speaker 2: live from Israel. I'll be reporting on the war against
- 48:18Speaker 2: Hesblah and hosting my nightly program from Israel. So don't
- 48:22Speaker 2: miss any shows next week at eight o'clock. I'm going
- 48:26Speaker 2: to bring you the heartfelt emotional stories, also big political interviews.
- 48:31Speaker 2: It's going to be an emotional time for all of us,
- 48:34Speaker 2: especially as we watch on in horror at what's unfolding
- 48:37Speaker 2: on our streets.
- 48:38Speaker 3: I'll be off until then.
- 48:40Speaker 2: It's the Jewish New Year tomorrow, so the next time
- 48:42Speaker 2: I see you Monday at eight pm will be from Israel.
- 48:46Speaker 3: Shahnatova and here's Pomari
