Fairfax County is reviving curbside glass recycling after a 2019 pause, thanks to new tech that can now sort glass efficiently and create a market for it — potentially saving the county money. Supervisor Pat Herrity’s proposal aims to make recycling easier by returning glass to regular bins, reducing trips and costs, especially since most residents use private haulers. While purple drop-off bins remain the current option, the county’s Public Works will assess feasibility for a possible rollout by next year.
