Let's learn some birthday phrases today. First up: ¡Feliz cumpleaños! Luna: ¡Feliz cumpleaños! That means happy birthday, right? Lucas: Exactly. Feliz means happy, cumpleaños means birthday. So literally happy birthday. Try it again. Luna: ¡Feliz cumpleaños! I like that. Short and sweet. Lucas: Now, a birthday usually involves a party. So we have la fiesta. Luna: La fiesta. The party. ¿Vas a la fiesta? Are you going to the party? Lucas: Perfect. Sí, voy a la fiesta. And at the party, there's cake: el pastel. Luna: El pastel. I love cake. ¿Dónde está el pastel? Lucas: Good question. On the cake there are candles: las velas. Luna: Las velas. Candles. And then you blow them out: soplar las velas. Lucas: Yes. Soplar las velas. And the whole act of celebrating is celebrar. Luna: Celebrar. To celebrate. So many new words. Lucas: Let's do a quick scene. You arrive at the party. What do you say first? Luna: ¡Feliz cumpleaños! Then I'd ask ¿Dónde está el pastel? Lucas: That's it. And then you might say Voy a soplar las velas. Luna: Voy a soplar las velas. I'm going to blow out the candles. Lucas: Let's go through all the phrases one more time. Repeat after me: ¡Feliz cumpleaños! Luna: ¡Feliz cumpleaños! Lucas: La fiesta. Luna: La fiesta. Lucas: El pastel. Luna: El pastel.
