- 0:00Hi fast friends, this is a special second episode of For
- 0:04Azeroth where I get to sit down with Soul So Breezy and talk
- 0:08about professions and the start of the war within.
- 0:12There is a full regular episode that is also out today so make
- 0:16sure you check that out as well. Enjoy.
- 0:18For calendar to. The burning region for Gilnaeus
- 0:23that has not died for the Lich King.
- 0:29The Sindori. For the alliance.
- 0:35For the horn for Azeroth. Hello and welcome to a very
- 0:40special episode of For Azeroth. I am one of the hosts, the true
- 0:44villain Manny, and I am joined by the ever prolific soul Soul
- 0:49Breezy, who I'm sure hates that I said prolific.
- 0:54How are you today? I'm doing well.
- 0:57I just came off of a plane through the war within intro
- 1:02stuff where we, well, I'm not going to spoil anything where we
- 1:04do some stuff and then we end up at the at the starts of Kas
- 1:08Algarve, you know, that experience.
- 1:10And so I'm still kind of almost emotionally rattled.
- 1:13I know we're not going to be talking about that, but yeah,
- 1:16that's the kind of energy that I'm coming in, coming in with
- 1:18this semi depressed energy. But I'm still very excited to be
- 1:22here. So yeah.
- 1:25I'm, I'm really glad to have you on.
- 1:26Honestly, the recent network that I'm coming to you is
- 1:30because we are just on the doorstep of the war within.
- 1:33Like you said, you've been testing the beta with this new
- 1:37intro stuff, but before that you've been doing a lot of
- 1:40videos on professions. And so you do such a great job
- 1:45of making the game so accessible and making it something that
- 1:48people can digest. And so I think you're like the
- 1:51right person to go to this. What made you jump on
- 1:54professions though? Oh shucks.
- 1:59So I when I was first introduced into professions in Dragonfly, I
- 2:03was, I was floored. I was like, dude, this is Oh my
- 2:06God, this is a lot. This is a lot to soak in.
- 2:08This is a lot to cover. And as you know, as a creator,
- 2:11of course I'll spoil myself and try to get in on, get in on and
- 2:16learn, just learn stuff ahead of time.
- 2:18At the same time, I was kind of understanding very quickly that
- 2:21this is a lot. There's a lot of folks that
- 2:24aren't going to be able to handle this as well as they
- 2:26possibly could. So I did my best during
- 2:28Dragonfly, you know, so as early as then to try and help elevate
- 2:32folks and to help people learn and to help people understand
- 2:36like what's going on. And I did a round of guides here
- 2:38and there and with some success, but I didn't do like quite as
- 2:42much. So I would say like during
- 2:45Dragonflight, there's a lot of folks out there and I totally
- 2:48agree with them. They felt frustrated, they felt
- 2:51lost, they felt like they were making mistakes.
- 2:53And so they were rightfully complaining to Blizzard.
- 2:55Like, dude, you know, give us respects, give us something to
- 2:59help us through and, and as a creator, while, you know, my
- 3:02responsibilities as a creator only go so far.
- 3:05Like I felt like I wanted to do more.
- 3:06And so this time around with the war within, I wanted to go all
- 3:10in, you know, one, providing lots of feedback early on so we
- 3:14can so I can so I and other folks in the community can try
- 3:18to steer the direction of how they wanted to approach our
- 3:21professions this time. But also create a whole damn
- 3:24series of guides to help folks to help elevate folks to lift
- 3:28them up, to give them the the aptitude, the proficiency to at
- 3:32the very least make decisions. Because obviously if I were to
- 3:36try to give like a step by step instruction guide, knowing that
- 3:39the beta cycles will constantly change, that would kind of set
- 3:43us up for failure. Even the guides that I did put
- 3:45out, some of it has outdated information.
- 3:47And I'm trying my best to, you know, keep everything up to
- 3:50date. But yeah, that was that's the
- 3:53that's the main goal is to continue trying to share like
- 3:56the fun of professions and also get past the things that make
- 4:01people that that intimidated people and made things feel
- 4:04complicated by pointing out, hey, folks, you want to do this
- 4:07sort of thing, OK, cool. Just go down this line.
- 4:10Or hey, maybe you're not interested in things like
- 4:12crafting orders and bargain and trade chat.
- 4:14Great, there's this auction house solution for you.
- 4:17Maybe you can do this instead. And so I'm trying to present
- 4:20like all these different options and ways to go about it in a
- 4:24mostly digestible way. Yeah, so you're right,
- 4:29Dragonfly, there was a lot of complexity.
- 4:31It was like that big wall of like talent trees.
- 4:35And overtime they added in stuff like the preview of like what
- 4:38exactly everything was going to get.
- 4:40But overall, a lot of people bounced off of that.
- 4:44And now we're going into a new expansion.
- 4:46It's a time for people to try and dip their toes back into it
- 4:49again. So I'm really appreciative of
- 4:50your videos. What would you say is the first
- 4:54thing that people should kind of look at to wrap their heads
- 4:56around professions in the War within?
- 5:02There are there is a very excited, a very excited group of
- 5:07creators, myself among them, who are eager to like help folks
- 5:12out. We've created all sorts of
- 5:14videos that go like either the either scratch the surface,
- 5:17which is kind of what I lean to. There are folks that go really
- 5:20in depth on like how to make like the best gold or what you
- 5:23should use, what should what you should have as a profession.
- 5:26Like depending on if you are like a Raider or if you are very
- 5:31social and active in the community or if you're just a
- 5:33solo player, you know, there are lots of resources out there.
- 5:35And so my first, the 1st place that I would point to would just
- 5:39be like, you know, do a search in YouTube, look up your
- 5:41profession and then just take a look at a sample of guides that
- 5:45that might be there for you. The Wowhead beta talent
- 5:49calculator is also another fantastic resource if you don't
- 5:52have beta access and you want to take a look and see what the
- 5:56trees mean. It gives you a good sense of how
- 5:59these of how these things work. Even if you're not looking at it
- 6:02in game, like just kind of just kind of as a preview.
- 6:05If you look at the trees these days or if you look at the trees
- 6:07back in Dragonfly, they easily got very confusing because you
- 6:11would see certain points or certain talent tree node things
- 6:15that you're like, OK, I think this is going to apply for
- 6:19making a good gun or something like that.
- 6:22But you might discover or you might not discover that in a
- 6:26different branch. There's all these points that
- 6:28also go towards making this gun really well in the war Within.
- 6:32It's a lot more clear. And again, there are guys that
- 6:36we'll try to point these things out to you, but by and large,
- 6:39there are numerous examples of trying to specialize in like a
- 6:44certain thing that you want to make, whether it's a potion,
- 6:47piece of armor, a weapon or whatnot.
- 6:49And for the most part, it's very clear you won't need to branch
- 6:51off into like all these different directions.
- 6:53It's not going to feel nearly as confusing.
- 6:56I think the team, I think the white team has done a pretty
- 6:58good job of doing their best to make how you progress more
- 7:03transparent than before. OK, that's really good.
- 7:07Actually. Along those lines, a lot of the
- 7:09different professions had different ways of progressing,
- 7:13especially when we went to the crafting with like alchemy and
- 7:16those Eureka moments and the explosions and then having to
- 7:19use the liquid courage and different different professions
- 7:24had different ways of learning. Has it been more unified, or at
- 7:28least made a little bit more simple?
- 7:29Or are there still those like, quite arcane ways of learning
- 7:33stuff? Wow enjoys variety, so you are
- 7:40in fact going to get something that is like, oh God, I got to
- 7:43go into a raid for that recipe that everyone wants.
- 7:46Oh my God. So there is a, it's just off the
- 7:49top of my head, there is a certain jewel crafting recipe
- 7:52that allows you to create sockets for both rings and
- 7:55necklaces. That's a recipe that's going to
- 7:57come from a certain boss in the upcoming raid.
- 8:01I'm pretty sure it's going to apply to all the rate
- 8:04difficulties. It doesn't matter which one.
- 8:06And thankfully the rate difficulties are more accessible
- 8:09sooner, most notably Rate Finder, which is fantastic.
- 8:13But also something new that's being introduced is that there's
- 8:15going to be a number of recipes that you're finding in Dells.
- 8:17So Dells are going to be in the future.
- 8:19You get to go in with brand your new buddy, and you're going to
- 8:22smash stuff together and hopefully you'll be able to find
- 8:25certain recipes from those areas.
- 8:27There are still select number of recipes that are in fact behind
- 8:33some renowned, but thankfully with war bands, renowned is
- 8:36shared and so you won't have to. You want to be like, Oh my God,
- 8:40I got to take my profession to it and wrap them up.
- 8:43You don't have to do that anymore.
- 8:44You can have your main take care of all that work and you know
- 8:47they'll be fine there as well. There is also with Dragonfight,
- 8:52there was this separate reputation called the Artisan
- 8:54Consortium, where that was a kind of sort of account wide
- 8:59shared reputation that involved quite a bit of work with with
- 9:03doing these like weeklies and and other quests in order to get
- 9:06wrapped. That's pretty much gone.
- 9:08It's all just like strictly a currency based thing.
- 9:11So when you first start off in the Kas Algar on on each of your
- 9:15characters, your character will get this one time kind of like
- 9:19an easy allowance of 200 of this artisan acuity, this currency
- 9:23that you can use for a variety of things, including just buying
- 9:26the kind of recipe that you want to buy.
- 9:28So day one, if you want to buy the recipe that lets you make a
- 9:33powerful profession tool, because that's what a lot of
- 9:35those are used for, cool, you can do that and you can
- 9:38immediately make yourself available like, hey dudes, hey,
- 9:40trade chat, I look at me, I can make this thing.
- 9:44Of course, it's kind of a double edged sword because everyone
- 9:46else is going to have that same access if they choose to have
- 9:49it. So some of the folks are going
- 9:51to be like, well, I also have the ability to make this thing.
- 9:54Meanwhile, there's going to be a lot of folks that are like, oh,
- 9:56I'm going to, I want you to make it for me.
- 9:57And so you're going to have kind of like this kind of immediate
- 10:01interaction even even early on in the expansion.
- 10:04I'm not saying during early access, but I mean like day one
- 10:07of the the general release of the expansion, there's going to
- 10:09be a lot of activity really fast.
- 10:12OK. Yeah.
- 10:13So then a lot of the questions for people, it's going to be
- 10:17where do I start? And do you find that there are
- 10:21traps in the profession trees, or does it look like no matter
- 10:25where you go, there's something you can offer?
- 10:29At first there were, but I mean, that's not important.
- 10:31The whole beta process is about trying to iron that stuff out.
- 10:34So the short answer, the better answer I should start off with
- 10:36is no, there isn't going to be a situation or a place where
- 10:40you're going to feel trapped. And that was like a really big
- 10:42complaint, a big valid complaint during Dragonfly.
- 10:44Like, dude, I can't level like how awful was that for people
- 10:49who were, you know, they had this is like their main
- 10:52character that they played for years and now they felt stuck.
- 10:54They weren't able to progress with their profession except for
- 10:56like some dinky little quest in the Dark Moon fair that gave
- 11:00them a cool I get a skill pointer to whoop they do.
- 11:03So there are a couple of protections against that.
- 11:05One, it's just easier to level your profession.
- 11:08There are numerous kinds. Instead of traps, there are I
- 11:13guess ramps or slides that let you level your profession a
- 11:17little bit further than you normally would.
- 11:20It does require like some extra resources obviously, but that'll
- 11:23give you a path towards unlocking milestones that'll let
- 11:27you access other trees and then these other specialization
- 11:30specialization trees, you'll be able to access new recipes that
- 11:34will in fact let you skill up. The probably the bigger thing to
- 11:38talk about though are these things called patron orders or
- 11:42NPC crafting orders. So start with day one of the
- 11:46general release of the expansion, I'm predicting we're
- 11:49going to start seeing these patron orders.
- 11:50And we're going to see a round of folks, you know, we're going
- 11:53to see like, you know, public orders, personal orders.
- 11:55And then these patron orders, a number of these are going to pop
- 11:58up. They're personal.
- 11:59So no one's going to be stealing from each other.
- 12:01And from there, it's just a matter of, OK, can I do that
- 12:03one? Can I fulfil that one?
- 12:05Great. And you're going to get some
- 12:06cool prizes out of it, including knowledge points, including
- 12:11resources, including artisan acuity.
- 12:14And also because those are, you know, because these recipes come
- 12:17from all over the place, you may be able to get first craft
- 12:19bonuses you'll be able to get you'll be able to get skill
- 12:22levels as you know, the question was first asking.
- 12:26So you'll be able to progress even if you're on a really bad
- 12:31server that's very low population and there aren't
- 12:34there isn't a lot of traffic going on.
- 12:35Or if you happen to be on a very imbalanced server, hey, it's all
- 12:39one faction, but you happen to be on the opposite faction.
- 12:43You could still do these Patreon crafting notice you can still
- 12:45progress your character and you'll be OK there.
- 12:48So while there is while there is going to be a little bit of that
- 12:53friction, because professions are largely a kind of a social
- 12:57inter player sort of system. There are these new mechanisms
- 13:01to make sure that you're not stuck and that you can still
- 13:03feel like you can play your profession even if one of the
- 13:07critical parts of professions, which is other people, even if
- 13:10they're not really around. OK.
- 13:12So what limits these like patron professions?
- 13:15Is this something that people might use to catch up and
- 13:19therefore, like there's like a certain limit that you can do
- 13:21that increases every week? Or is it this something that
- 13:24it's like there's a set amount each week and that's all you
- 13:27get? So there there are things that
- 13:29unfortunately we couldn't test. What we've been seeing in the
- 13:32beta is we've been in this kind of catch up mode where there's
- 13:36like like a dozen or so of these patient orders that were able to
- 13:40complete and we're able to get either one or two knowledge
- 13:43points out of some of these along with other prices.
- 13:45Like I said, acuity, skill points, knowledge, all sorts of
- 13:49stuff. As for the regular day-to-day,
- 13:53those are things that we're going to discover together when
- 13:58we hit general release. I'm going to predict it's going
- 14:00to be like 5, maybe four of these quests that we'll be able
- 14:04to see. But there are things that I,
- 14:06that even in my testing, I wasn't able to make good
- 14:08observations on. I was hearing that these patient
- 14:12orders will come in every every month.
- 14:15I'm sorry, every Tuesday through and Friday, kind of like the
- 14:18world quests have. Sometimes we've been seeing them
- 14:22sooner than that. But personally, like I've been
- 14:24kind of like lost in the whole mumble jumble of making so many
- 14:28alts and making all these characters that there's no way
- 14:30that I was able to like keep track appropriately.
- 14:34But I would say you can probably count on the traffic of these
- 14:40patron orders to feel kind of sort of like the mission table.
- 14:44So you can almost think of it like that.
- 14:46Only the cost to use these or to fulfill these is going to be
- 14:50potentially much higher. Not every patron order that you
- 14:52see is going to provide all the materials that you need.
- 14:55It's going to almost feel like players who are submitting
- 14:59orders and they're like, they provided nothing, dude.
- 15:03And so you're going to be like screwed, I'm not going to do
- 15:05that. And yeah, that might result in
- 15:07you not fulfilling this patient order.
- 15:09That would give some knowledge points.
- 15:12However, there are built in catch UPS right away that are
- 15:15going to be in place. So as early as Week 2, instead
- 15:18of maybe those five orders as an example, maybe you'll see 9 or
- 15:2210, or perhaps it might work like, hey, cool, I did a number
- 15:27of orders. But then the next day I'm going
- 15:28to see like a few more. I doubt that Blizzard wants us
- 15:32to see like 100 orders. You know, if we're like, let's
- 15:35say if we make a brand new character in the middle of the
- 15:37expansion, we're not going to see like 50 or 100 orders.
- 15:40Like, hey, have that and you want to catch up, right, buddy?
- 15:42I'm sure it's going to be something a bit more digestible,
- 15:45something that makes us feel like, OK, cool, we're doing
- 15:47work, we're keeping ourselves busy.
- 15:49Boy, I'm a bit too busy. I'm going to run out of
- 15:51resources. But oh, but at least there's
- 15:53always going to be a path. There's always, there's always
- 15:55going to be this, this, this accessibility, this opportunity
- 15:59to catch up. Yeah.
- 16:01And that goes along with the early release because you were
- 16:06talking about these orders showing up with like the general
- 16:09release. So with the early release, how
- 16:12far do you think people can get and what what do you think?
- 16:16Because we don't know right now. So what's your best guess at
- 16:19what's going to be available to us?
- 16:22There was an interview like way back, like like pretty much
- 16:25during BlizzCon when game director Ian has Casas kind of
- 16:28explained what would and would not be available.
- 16:31He said that specialization points would not be available,
- 16:35although professions and, and other features would.
- 16:38The way that I'm kind of looking at this, though, I'm kind of
- 16:41looking at the early release and even though, and even the
- 16:45initial launch day to count as kind of sort of a single day
- 16:50where we're not going to have a lot of the features available,
- 16:54such as being able to earn lots of specialization points from
- 16:58just finding stuff on the ground.
- 17:00If we're if we happen to be a gatherer, I have serious stats
- 17:03that we're going to see patron orders because that would
- 17:06basically any, any instance where we can get an advantage
- 17:10over other people who had not been who, who are not present
- 17:14day one, we're probably not going to see any of that sort of
- 17:18stuff. So like I said, we're probably
- 17:19not going to see patron orders, things that we can skill points
- 17:25that we can like pick up off the ground.
- 17:26We're not going to see the zone activities.
- 17:30Those won't be available. I I believe we're either not
- 17:33going to see rares at all or we're not going to get like
- 17:36reputation from rares, things that otherwise could risk
- 17:40leaving others behind. Yeah.
- 17:42OK. So then if there are no rares,
- 17:47sometimes like we saw in there, like cabins, particular goods
- 17:50come from rares so that we might not see that.
- 17:54Part of what's really strong in the early game is that dual
- 17:58gathering and that's one of the more lucrative gold making
- 18:02opportunities. Part of what makes that really
- 18:05good is that node variety that we saw in Dragonflight.
- 18:09So you would have like the elemental or and you would have
- 18:12like the windswept herbs and so forth.
- 18:15In your travels around the underground of the War Within,
- 18:22have you seen like a lot of variety of those nodes?
- 18:24Are we seeing that same sort of thing happen in the War Within?
- 18:28Largely, yes, you're going to see you're going to see
- 18:30different kinds of nodes, but they're going to have like these
- 18:32different sorts of effects like there are or nodes that
- 18:36literally throw bombs, exploding bombs at you.
- 18:39There are one there are herbs that when you pick them, you
- 18:43will suddenly get blasted in, you know, a great distance and
- 18:46depending on where this herb is, it might just shoot you down to
- 18:50your death, which is really fantastic unless you have like
- 18:54the appropriate amount skill or whatever.
- 18:56So there is going to be like that sort of same variety and
- 18:59something that we had seen from that we did not see at the start
- 19:02of Dragonflight, but later on is we'll be able to easily identify
- 19:06like the cool nodes. Like, hey, if it's if this thing
- 19:09has a really special global rise, OK, cool.
- 19:11That's going to be like one of those really cool nodes that I
- 19:13can use this overload ability. So from gathering, we can expect
- 19:18a very similar feel. It's just, it's also just a
- 19:22little bit different because we're seeing different kinds of
- 19:24nodes, but the flow of, hey, I'm going to be out there, I'm going
- 19:28to pick stuff. There's a special thing I'm
- 19:30going to use my my ability to activate like some cool effect
- 19:34or to get more things. A lot of that is largely a lot
- 19:38of that is going to be intact. Now, one other thing because we
- 19:42talked about like catch UPS with the crafting professions.
- 19:46One big one big and very cool thing about gathering
- 19:48professions is that they also have their their own inherent
- 19:51catch up too. And it's a lot more simple.
- 19:54It's just keep gathering. So every now and then, let's say
- 19:58we're like a little bit into the expansion.
- 20:01Usually when you start off your week, you're going to get a
- 20:04round of skill points by just picking stuff up and you know
- 20:07that you're kind of quote done because all of a sudden you get
- 20:10like this epic kind of material that they use it.
- 20:14You get like two or three skill points, which is, hey, that's
- 20:16great if you're behind or you'll know that you're behind because
- 20:22you'll actually get more stuff. You'll get more of these single
- 20:27skill points items if you just keep gathering.
- 20:30So for the for the person who is a regular gathering kind of
- 20:33person, they're going to find that, you know, if they feel
- 20:36like they're like one 2-3 weeks behind, they'll be able to get
- 20:39caught up as long as they just keep doing what they're doing.
- 20:42So that part's very cool. Yeah, no, that, that is pretty
- 20:45awesome. And I think when I was leveling
- 20:49skinning and leveling at all, doing skinning, I managed to Max
- 20:52that out before I even hit cap. So gatherings always been really
- 20:56strong for that. One of the things with gathering
- 21:00was the different ranks of material.
- 21:02So like you would have the rank 1-2 and three, but like rank one
- 21:06became pretty obsolete fast. And then once people scaled up,
- 21:10we no longer really needed rank rank three.
- 21:13Is there like a better difference between them?
- 21:15Is is it going to follow the same sort of thing in in as far
- 21:19as you can infer from like just beta trials?
- 21:24You know, some folks that they're going to kind of debate
- 21:27whether or not this is better, but it has changed.
- 21:31So as you were saying, eventually we would graduate
- 21:34from these lower rank materials. We just stopped seeing them.
- 21:37And then these lower rank materials, they would just kind
- 21:39of sit in this weird spot because they were kind of
- 21:43useless. But but but they were kind of
- 21:46rare because people would stop getting them.
- 21:48And so the price of these goods, they would just kind of like
- 21:50have this weird space where it would be almost a little bit
- 21:53more expensive than rank twos, maybe even rank threes.
- 21:56The expectation here and the numbers have not been reliable.
- 22:00I've had I've presented my numbers and other people have
- 22:03been saying otherwise. So I really don't know.
- 22:06But we can expect even a master gatherer person is still going
- 22:12to have a fairly good chance of seeing rank one materials.
- 22:16It might be as even as 3030 thirty.
- 22:19My observation was more like 50-30 twenty.
- 22:23And other creators, other other folks who've been in the space,
- 22:27they've been giving all sorts of different numbers.
- 22:29But what we can expect is just a lot bigger of a presence of
- 22:32these rank one materials, which is both good and bad.
- 22:35Because for some it's going to be like, oh, no, I'm not going
- 22:37to get the good materials. Well, what are we going to do
- 22:39with this? But at the same time, there are
- 22:41different crafting professions that are able to utilize
- 22:44materials and repurpose them into something else almost
- 22:48entirely, like books are going or chefs cooking people.
- 22:52They're going to be able to use low level certain a certain herb
- 22:57in order to enhance or in order to create most recipes.
- 23:02There are alchemists who are able to take some of these low
- 23:05level materials and turn them into different kinds of
- 23:08materials, perhaps even higher level ranked materials that can
- 23:11be more usable in crafts. And also all the most of the
- 23:17gathering professions, actually all of them.
- 23:18Yeah, all of them. They were able to refine
- 23:20materials. Now in Dragonflight, it wasn't
- 23:22very popular at all because as I was saying, there weren't any
- 23:26rank one materials. There weren't enough rank one
- 23:28materials to to use and the pricing was weird.
- 23:32The the idea of refining in the war within, it's kind of the
- 23:37same as Dragonflight where it's like kind of a fall back, like a
- 23:40just in case. Like if there's a weird
- 23:43situation where there's so much demand for rank three materials,
- 23:48that's the supply of it becomes like impacted and prices start
- 23:53to go crazy. That's where naturally gatherers
- 23:56are going to come and be like, dude, I'm going to make some of
- 23:58that money. And so they're going to take
- 24:00their rank one rank two materials, refine these into
- 24:03higher qualities and kind of help to restore that supply.
- 24:06Now, of course, that still means there are there's still
- 24:09effectively prices are basically still going to keep going up,
- 24:13but it's also going to provide that, that opportunity, this
- 24:16challenge for players to be like, Hey, you want that money,
- 24:19right? It's it's there, it's off the
- 24:21ground if you want to pick it up.
- 24:23And so I've been saying this ever since I've seen stuff like
- 24:27this ever since I saw the stuff about like the rank materials.
- 24:30It's like, dude, gathering is going to win.
- 24:32It's going to win so hard. It's, and it's not just the
- 24:35availability of these of these materials, it's the way that
- 24:39crafting demands high level materials in order to make like
- 24:43cool stuff and good quality stuff.
- 24:45And that's something that players were obsessed with.
- 24:48For them, it was rank 5 or nothing, rank 3 potions or
- 24:51nothing. And the war within is being
- 24:55positioned and not guaranteed because we can't predict what
- 24:58players are going to do. But the way that these systems
- 25:00are positioning themselves, it's going to challenge folks to be
- 25:02like, maybe I'll settle for like this rank one potion for now
- 25:06because, yeah, this rank three, this, this ain't happening
- 25:10because no way. So there's a lot that goes into,
- 25:14there's a lot that goes into just this thing with materials
- 25:18and, and it's, it's just crazy because Blizzard can easily just
- 25:21kind of put their thumb on the scale and be like, oh, let's
- 25:23just have, let's have less rank threes.
- 25:26And then all of a sudden you're going to see this huge impact on
- 25:28the market. Now I'm not saying that they'll
- 25:29do that, but it's certainly being set up to where if they
- 25:33did want to manipulate prices and and supply, they could
- 25:39easily do in it by they could easily do it by messing with
- 25:42these drop rates. OK, right.
- 25:46So if I am trying to get professions and I'm doing it to
- 25:51support my RAID, do you have any recommendations on like what
- 25:56professions give a lot to the raid and which professions give
- 25:59less? I'm not asking you to like come
- 26:01up with a ranking here, just like examples of like, hey, this
- 26:04gives a lot of stuff and this maybe if you're looking for RAID
- 26:07stuff, you want to choose something.
- 26:09Else So what would I suggest for it?
- 26:13Well, if you got your RAID, then I would suggest sitting down
- 26:17with your folks and be like, all right, guys, So what you going
- 26:19to do? What you going to do?
- 26:20What you going to do and try to and try to coordinate from
- 26:24there, like what I tried to do with my raid is just kind of do
- 26:28a quick poll as to like, Hey, what what profession do you plan
- 26:32on? At least try it out first.
- 26:34I did a quick poll with them and funny enough, no one said yes to
- 26:38enchanting. So I'm like, oh, OK, we're going
- 26:41to have a clear opportunity here.
- 26:43And this Guild may have a big problem with acquiring enchants
- 26:47to help each other out with, you know, with setting ourselves up.
- 26:51As for shucks, As for professions that provide like a
- 26:55really big help, kind of hard to think of stuff out the top of my
- 26:59head. There's so many like small
- 27:00examples. But I guess engineering comes to
- 27:02mind because that's what I mean. Go engineers, There are certain
- 27:06there's an item called the pausing pylon.
- 27:09This is something that actually anyone can throw down, but it's
- 27:12made by engineers and by throwing this down, it will
- 27:16cause all the durations of your buffs, whether it's flasks or
- 27:20files or or food buffs, it'll cause them to pause while you
- 27:25are while you're in the presence of this pylon.
- 27:28Now it's a non combat thing, so it's the ideal thing to use when
- 27:31someone's like, oh, I got to go to the bathroom or hey, let's
- 27:34plan, you know, we wiped. Let's talk this through.
- 27:37Let's watch the five minute video or whatever.
- 27:39Someone throws down the pausing pylon and everyone is going to
- 27:43be able to everyone's going to be able to, you know, pause
- 27:47their buffs and everything. So that helps to prolong prolong
- 27:52these buffs and if you're able to use it well enough and
- 27:55effectively be able to use like one less feast, 1 less round of
- 27:59files, that's going to be like a huge savings for you and your
- 28:03raid cooking is going to be a very big deal too.
- 28:07I have a guide coming up. It's terrible, but I have a
- 28:09guide coming up where the cool thing about cooking these days
- 28:13is that while they are going to take away the alchemical flavor
- 28:17pocket, which is a very popular item that people used in their
- 28:21crafted gear because it made their it made their well fed
- 28:25buff like last for an hour. Long and persist through death
- 28:29like. It was, yeah.
- 28:30Yeah. Yeah, yeah, it was awesome.
- 28:32I totally forgot about it being about it lasting longer, but
- 28:34yeah, it persist through death. And that was like the best part
- 28:36about it. In this case, though, everyone
- 28:40who cooks is capable of creating for themselves what's called a
- 28:44hearty meal or a hearty feast, where you can take five or ten
- 28:49or something like that. You can take a number of this
- 28:51food, smash it together and it's still the same food, but it does
- 28:55persist through death. So while you're not going to be
- 28:57thrown down X amount of money for a flavor pocket or you're
- 29:00not going to or you're not going to be farming it, you know,
- 29:03doing super whatever you do have this opportunity or everyone has
- 29:05this opportunity to make themselves some decent food
- 29:08that'll last quite some time. So great for raids, great for a
- 29:11bit. The plus folk who are like, oh
- 29:14God, I wiped, but hey, I don't have to worry about it anymore
- 29:17without having to without having to feel dependent on crafting
- 29:22and the flavor pocket. So those are those are just like
- 29:25two small examples. There are like each profession
- 29:28has like a little something great to give, especially when
- 29:31you consider like the armor professions.
- 29:33And if a Guild is organized, they'll all pull the all pull
- 29:37together, bring resources together, try to refine these
- 29:40things into usable materials, high quality materials.
- 29:44That way your crafter or crafters will be able to pump
- 29:47out the best items for everyone officials.
- 29:50So it's still a lot of teamwork that that's involved in, but
- 29:53every profession is capable of it.
- 29:56That's awesome. OK, so from the other end, if I
- 29:59want to be like all about me, a little bit more selfish, what
- 30:02are the profession perks that like really stand out, that are
- 30:06like, that's amazing for, you know, the solo player or the
- 30:09person who isn't part of a big organized group?
- 30:13As for like solo stuff, like if someone's just looking to make
- 30:16money, I would always advise someone to do just gather, just
- 30:18gather. It's money on the ground, pick
- 30:21it up, throw it in the auction house, watch the money roll in.
- 30:24So there's, you know, there's that and it's very simple.
- 30:27It doesn't involve anybody apart from maybe cancel scanning or
- 30:31something like that if you're familiar with that, just
- 30:33whatever. So there's always that.
- 30:37Now for the person who wants to enjoy professions or at least
- 30:41want to be like, hey, you know, I want the fantasy of being a
- 30:43blacksmith, but boy, I can't really handle like these
- 30:46crafting orders or whatnots. One there is the, there's the
- 30:50patient crafting order system that I've mentioned to at least
- 30:53give you that role play feel, even if you're not doing with,
- 30:56even if you're not doing this with other folks.
- 30:58But there are certain perks or there are certain cool things
- 31:01that you, that most professions can do with where you don't
- 31:05exactly focus on the, the crafting order system or, or
- 31:09trade chat, but you can rely on the auction house in Dragonfly
- 31:14and especially in the War Within, you're able to create
- 31:17all sorts of different reagents that are the pieces that create
- 31:21like these cool potions, these cool flasks and armor and
- 31:25weapons and so on and so forth. And it is quite easy to
- 31:28specialize into these. All you really need are the, you
- 31:33know, are just the ingredients to the basic materials, the
- 31:36herbs, the ore or whatnot or the skins to get you started.
- 31:40And some so someone who wants to pair up just leather working and
- 31:43skin, but they mostly want to just play on their own.
- 31:46You know, I would say it would be a good idea to focus on
- 31:50reagents. And that way you could that way
- 31:53you can take your high level crafts or your high level
- 31:55materials or refine them into high level materials.
- 31:58So that way you can make a bunch of cool stuff that's high rank
- 32:01and all of a sudden you're finding like like they're
- 32:04selling for like ridiculous prices.
- 32:05You're like, why is it selling for so much?
- 32:07And it's because these things are going to be in such high
- 32:10demand that the early market, at least it's not going to have the
- 32:15energy or the concentration. You know, maybe we'll talk about
- 32:18that in a bit. It's not going to have the
- 32:19energy to produce these things as much as you like.
- 32:22So solo crafters that felt like they were pushed out of the
- 32:26market because all these big burly dudes, they're, you know,
- 32:29they're using like 50 alts to do this.
- 32:31They're still going to find opportunities if they look in
- 32:33the right place and reagents, sellable stuff on the auction
- 32:37house. That would be the direction to
- 32:39go for like anybody. OK, well you mentioned it, so
- 32:43let's talk about concentration because like inspiration is dead
- 32:47Long live concentration, the new mechanic for crafting.
- 32:52So can you like explain how this works for us and like how
- 32:55players like might be able to use it more effectively?
- 32:59I've been trying to explain like an easy way to I've been trying
- 33:04to figure out an easy explanation that here's one I'll
- 33:06try. Think of professions these days
- 33:09in the world within at least as daily cooldowns.
- 33:13There's, you know, high end crafting is going to involve a
- 33:16lot of these so-called daily cool downs because you have this
- 33:18resource called concentration. It's going to let you turn like
- 33:24a rank 4 item into a rank 5 item.
- 33:28It's or a rank 2 to a rank three if it's a consumable and if
- 33:32you're specializing, if you're, if you're doing the work, you're
- 33:34putting your time into it, you're going to find that it's
- 33:36fairly easy to create most items at a rank 4, but it's a really
- 33:42long Rd. to make that rank 4 into a rank five.
- 33:44It's like, OK, day one, I can pretty much make most of these
- 33:47things that are rank four. OK, that's pretty awesome.
- 33:49But it might take like a month and some change to start
- 33:53crafting some of these things at a rank five.
- 33:55In the meantime, if you want to make cool stuff for people
- 33:58through crafting orders or on the auction house, you're
- 34:01probably going to use some of this concentration.
- 34:03And so when once people get started and find themselves like
- 34:08hitting these, hitting these kinds of walls, they'll feel
- 34:10like, oh, true, OK, I'm going to be kind of like doing this once
- 34:14a day where I can make one cool thing.
- 34:16Like I can make 5 rank 3 potions or something a day, which
- 34:20doesn't feel like a lot. But eventually this cool down
- 34:23starts to whittle down a little bit because you're slowly
- 34:27putting points in, you're slowly getting a couple more skill
- 34:30points, you're being given better materials to work with.
- 34:34You are getting, you're making yourself better tools or you're
- 34:37buying tools off of someone else or something like that to a
- 34:40point where eventually you're spending less and less of this
- 34:43concentration towards like, oh, now I can do like a couple of
- 34:46things, a couple of these casts a day instead of one every day
- 34:50or 1:00 every two days. It eventually can come to the
- 34:53point where you can overcome the cooldown altogether.
- 34:55As long as you're using the best materials.
- 34:58If you're provided those, you're able to make these things
- 35:00perpetually. So that kind of goes back to
- 35:02what I was talking about with how there's potential for
- 35:07materials to be exhausted because there's going to be such
- 35:11a high consumption of them. Because you know, there's going
- 35:13to be some people out there who are like, Yep, I definitely want
- 35:16to raise to like make all of these things like the best rank.
- 35:20And once they're able to, it's going to feel great for them,
- 35:23You know, for people who make it there first, they're going to be
- 35:26able to provide so many of these things for people.
- 35:28But at the same time, it's going to start impacting the price of
- 35:31these goods to where it's like, oh, maybe now it's too expensive
- 35:36for me to make these things. So there's some really, really
- 35:39wild things that are that are capable that are possible with
- 35:43with the abandoned of inspiration or going away from
- 35:45luck and going to these more deterministic cool downs that we
- 35:50can slowly chip away at as as the expansion goes, as the
- 35:55expansion goes by and we're able to scale up.
- 35:57Now, of course, as a reminder, you know, if you if we also
- 36:00wanted to like make multiple characters alts, some people
- 36:03play this thing called the Remix, some people did this
- 36:06thing called Radiant Echo. So people might have a number of
- 36:08alts. They can start doing that and be
- 36:12able to catch up fairly easily. We just got to, you know, put in
- 36:14the little little bit of elbow grease, get some extra materials
- 36:18to get themselves up and they can start if they really want to
- 36:20do like this. If you really want to work with
- 36:23multiple characters to produce more materials and more goods
- 36:25and whatnots, sure they can. But solo people should be able
- 36:29to get a lot of access to this too.
- 36:32Oh, OK, OK, no, that's that's great that like I'm as like
- 36:36somebody who mostly plays on one character, something like I have
- 36:39my shaman who is my main character and then all my other
- 36:43alts kind of exists in servitude to my main to support that,
- 36:47support that. I'm with that.
- 36:49I'm with that, yeah. And so like the fact that I
- 36:52could like, even as I go through, like I'll have like
- 36:55maybe a couple of characters that will make it to Max level,
- 36:58but I have a bunch of guys who are basically going to be parked
- 37:02in the main city and far and being the profession bots, as it
- 37:06were. And I'm glad that there's a use
- 37:08for them. Oh, absolutely.
- 37:11Yeah, yeah, yeah. OK.
- 37:14So then for people who are looking at professions, is, is
- 37:21it going to be in your estimation that the war within
- 37:24is going to allow for some casual gold making or does it
- 37:28really feel like you kind of have to go all in to make a real
- 37:32impact? When it comes to when it comes
- 37:37to the solo player, there's, there's different flavors of
- 37:40them, right? Like some people are like, I
- 37:42don't care about making money. I just want to make some cool
- 37:44stuff for myself and for that it's extremely cool.
- 37:48I think they I think Blizzard has done a really good job of
- 37:51catering to like the solo player who doesn't care about the
- 37:55market. And if they want to make, you
- 37:56know, if the solo player wants to make something for
- 37:58themselves, like, oh, I just want to make myself like this
- 38:01cool weapon or whatnot cool. It doesn't take long to skill
- 38:05themselves up to or to get the proficiency to make something
- 38:07out of rank four and use their concentration.
- 38:10Even if it's a even if it comes at a huge expenditure, they can
- 38:14still make that out of rank 5 knowing that they're only going
- 38:17to be using concentration like not even daily, but maybe
- 38:20weekly. And so they're definitely always
- 38:21going to have access to something like that.
- 38:24As for casual crafting, that's still also that's still also
- 38:28possible to again, thanks to concentration.
- 38:30So even if you're not the best crafter, you can still keep
- 38:37chipping away at concentration cost because you're just
- 38:40plugging points every now and then.
- 38:43You know routine there and there are new routines that you'll be
- 38:46picking up most notably to dip into these Patreon crafting
- 38:50orders and see what's there. So it's not just while it's not
- 38:54exactly a gold maker's paradise by working those Patreon
- 38:57crafting orders, it is a way to develop your skills.
- 38:59So that way if you do happen to see, you know, maybe it once in
- 39:04a blue moon, you'll see like a public order or maybe these are
- 39:07maybe they'll work out even better.
- 39:09But if you happen to see someone asking for something, it's like,
- 39:11hey, you can do that. And I think what we're going to
- 39:14find is that while we are going to have very industrious folk,
- 39:19whales, goblins who are going to do their best to dominate the
- 39:22market, there's going to be kind of like this sleeper potential
- 39:27of the more casual audience who is in fact capable of doing all
- 39:32of doing these things. It's just that they're only able
- 39:34to do it like maybe once every couple of days, but they can do
- 39:37it. Meanwhile, even the industrious
- 39:40crafter might run out of materials, especially early on
- 39:43in the expansion. They might run out of materials,
- 39:45they might run out of concentration, they might run
- 39:47out of alts who can also perform this.
- 39:49And so that's where the more casual crowd can come in, as
- 39:52long as they're at least keeping an eye on trade chat and being
- 39:54like, so is anyone someone can make a thing, I can do so that
- 39:59and that's very. Cool.
- 40:00It's very cool. I think that's I'm, I'm hoping I
- 40:03should just stick with that. I'm hoping that players will be
- 40:07able to tap into this potential and really take advantage of
- 40:10what's what they're capable of. That is really awesome.
- 40:13I'm hopeful too. So then overall, do you think
- 40:16that for the War Within professions are in a better
- 40:19place than they were in Dragonflight?
- 40:23They're definitely positioned to be in a better place.
- 40:25Like I can see that Blizzard had made a lot of strides to learn
- 40:31lessons like, and there have been very legit criticisms.
- 40:35It's too complicated, it's too deep, it's hard to understand.
- 40:39And they've been, again, trying to chip away at some of these
- 40:42criticisms by making these specializations a little bit
- 40:46more straightforward. There's a certain feature that
- 40:49unfortunately didn't make in I want to point this out.
- 40:51So for enchanting, what you're able to do in the enchanting
- 40:55crafting window is in the search bar.
- 40:57You can actually type in the name of a specialization and
- 41:01you'll be able to see all the recipes related to that
- 41:04specialization. Now, unfortunately, that's the
- 41:06only one where I would where I've consistently seen that sort
- 41:09of that sort of feature. I've tried other professions and
- 41:12I didn't see that same sort of feature.
- 41:13So I'm hoping that they fully that they fully put that in
- 41:17very, very soon, if not when it goes live.
- 41:19And this is just kind of like hidden for some for some stupid
- 41:21reason, But the accessibility of it, the, the ease of, of, of
- 41:28understanding. And of course, the community has
- 41:30gotten a lot better about it too, and hopefully is doing a
- 41:33better job of communicating how this works to folks.
- 41:37And as long as we're just open to continue to have
- 41:41conversations and to answer questions and everything, as
- 41:44long as the community is, is, is definitely here to help each
- 41:46other out. And if people can feel reassured
- 41:49of that and take advantage of it, then I think we'll be in a
- 41:52good spot. You know, Buzzard did I, I think
- 41:55they did do did do a lot. I think it's a lot of it's on
- 41:59the community to also help each other out too.
- 42:01And I think it's, I think it's a lot better.
- 42:04Nice. OK, so if people want like more
- 42:06details and I and all of that, where can people find you and
- 42:10the stuff that you do? Yeah, you can always find me on
- 42:13my YouTube channel. I do have a full, full on
- 42:16playlist and hopefully it'll be linked somewhere to where folks
- 42:19can get started. There's like a video at the very
- 42:21top of the playlist that has just kind of a general breakdown
- 42:24of, hey, so here's how concentration works as opposed
- 42:28to inspiration. And then from there I go over
- 42:31each and every profession I have cooking and fishing.
- 42:34That's like, I guess the last stuff kind of like a bonus that
- 42:36I was able to sort of squeeze in, and hopefully I'll have that
- 42:39out soon, but there are numerous other creators.
- 42:42I mean, just just type in war within professions and you will
- 42:45find no shortage of folks who are trying to help with
- 42:49different breakdowns, different summaries, tips, build ideas,
- 42:53all sorts of stuff. I am not the only one.
- 42:55I, I'm not even like, I don't even consider myself like the
- 42:58best gold maker. Like all I try to do is, you
- 43:02know, just try to help lift folks up and get people at least
- 43:04knowledgeable enough to, to feel empowered and confident enough
- 43:08to make their own decisions. But of course my door is always
- 43:11open for questions. Thank you for your time today
- 43:16again. So I'd love to have you back and
- 43:18we'll see how it's developed over the course of Dragonflight,
- 43:21or rather over the course of the war Within.
- 43:24But thank you again for your time today.
- 43:26Absolutely glad to glad to be here.
- 43:29Until next time, guys, I've been Manny.
- 43:31He's been sold. And may your hits be grits.
