- 0:10Speaker 3: On the air.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Live from the raising cane studio it's off the bench i.
- 0:19Speaker 4: Can't stand it i know you're.
- 0:38Speaker 2: All right welcome back in our number three of football
- 0:42Speaker 2: friday here from rouse's burbank and lee we've already had
- 0:46Speaker 2: a couple people come hang out come see us you
- 0:48Speaker 2: are welcome to as well you can wake muso up
- 0:51Speaker 2: over there.
- 0:51Speaker 5: Let's go moose.
- 0:59Speaker 6: Moose you're doing uh game day again so what time
- 1:02Speaker 6: do you get home on game day Oh, yeah, because
- 1:07Speaker 6: we make Dick Dixon do postgame.
- 1:09Speaker 5: He's the one who gets home like at 3 a.m. Okay,
- 1:11Speaker 5: fair enough. I'm an idiot. Dummy.
- 1:15Speaker 6: You know, Matt, something we haven't talked a lot about,
- 1:18Speaker 6: and haven't heard any show talk about this really, putting
- 1:20Speaker 6: these two things together. Last year, LSU's defense, 23rd nationally,
- 1:25Speaker 6: allowing 328.7 yards per game. They were also 23rd in
- 1:27Speaker 6: scoring defense at 19.8 points per game, okay? You pair
- 1:33Speaker 6: that with Ole Miss' offense. They finished 10th nationally, and
- 1:38Speaker 6: they averaged 489.7 yards per game and 36.9 points per game.
- 1:44Speaker 5: And they averaged, you know, obviously.
- 1:47Speaker 6: Equal in running the football, throwing the football, very balanced
- 1:50Speaker 6: as well. So you put those two things together, the
- 1:55Speaker 6: pieces aren't exactly the same.
- 1:58Speaker 5: Know that. But Charlie Weiss Jr.
- 2:01Speaker 6: Blake Baker, your two coordinators, If you pair that together
- 2:04Speaker 6: and you get anywhere in the ballpark, let's say LSU's
- 2:07Speaker 6: defense finishes 35th and Ole Miss last year finished 10th
- 2:11Speaker 6: and you finished 15th in total offense.
- 2:15Speaker 5: That's going to be hard for that team not to
- 2:17Speaker 5: make the playoffs.
- 2:18Speaker 4: Yeah, it sounds like a 50-point differential to me.
- 2:22Speaker 5: You don't see that very often. Look at Like, forever. Like, Oklahoma.
- 2:31Speaker 4: Like, they had the best offense in the country forever. And, like,
- 2:34Speaker 4: nearly the worst defense every single year. And it kind of, like,
- 2:37Speaker 4: flipped on them a little bit. You hardly ever see
- 2:39Speaker 4: these dominant offenses be paired up with this dominant defense.
- 2:42Speaker 4: Even national championship teams. Like, you're really good on both sides.
- 2:46Speaker 4: You're never, like, the absolute best on offense. Absolute best.
- 2:51Speaker 4: Maybe absolute best on defense. But you never see, like, those, like...
- 2:55Speaker 4: Video game type number offenses, usually.
- 2:58Speaker 5: Now, of course, like LSU in 19, you have it.
- 3:01Speaker 6: But even with LSU in 2019, too, though, like the
- 3:04Speaker 6: defense probably didn't get enough credit, but it was, you
- 3:07Speaker 6: think about who was on that defense. Like Caleb on
- 3:10Speaker 6: chase on just got paid in the offseason. Derek Stingley,
- 3:13Speaker 6: Grant Delbert, who just got paid in the offseason. Patrick
- 3:15Speaker 6: Queen got paid a couple offseasons ago. Like we could
- 3:17Speaker 6: continue on going down the line of those guys. And so,
- 3:21Speaker 6: but they weren't the best unit. But they were good
- 3:23Speaker 6: enough paired with a great offense. But if you can
- 3:25Speaker 6: have the balance like you're talking about, if you can have, man,
- 3:28Speaker 6: we got the 12th best offense and the 29th best.
- 3:31Speaker 5: Defense, look out.
- 3:33Speaker 6: Because that's going to win you a lot of football
- 3:34Speaker 6: games and you have a good balance. Now, we don't
- 3:37Speaker 6: know this LSU defense paired with the offense that is
- 3:40Speaker 6: a fast-paced offense that we get the ball snap.
- 3:42Speaker 5: So we'll see how that, you know, how that changes
- 3:44Speaker 5: the math. Does it change the math?
- 3:46Speaker 6: Because maybe you're on the field more like Lane Kiffin
- 3:47Speaker 6: likes to be aggressive. He likes to go for it
- 3:49Speaker 6: on fourth down. So I'm not saying the numbers are
- 3:51Speaker 6: going to be the same. I just wanted to bring
- 3:52Speaker 6: it up to say that you've got the same coordinator
- 3:55Speaker 6: that finished 23rd and you got the other coordinator that
- 3:58Speaker 6: finished 10th. And now you're going to put those coordinators
- 4:01Speaker 6: together and you're going to do it with a very
- 4:03Speaker 6: talented roster. And if you do what you did a
- 4:06Speaker 6: year ago and those numbers are close to the same,
- 4:09Speaker 6: you're talking about LSU in the college football playoff.
- 4:11Speaker 5: Oh, for sure.
- 4:12Speaker 4: And, and, It's going to be a– it is going
- 4:16Speaker 4: to be a– I don't know if you can overstate
- 4:19Speaker 4: it enough how disappointing the season is going to be
- 4:22Speaker 4: if LSU does not make the playoffs. That's the marker, right?
- 4:26Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 4:27Speaker 4: Of course, you want to win everything. But realistically, to
- 4:31Speaker 4: make that the goal, to make that the standard, a
- 4:34Speaker 4: national championship is unrealistic for anybody to say national championship
- 4:37Speaker 4: or bust. But with all the noise, all the money,
- 4:41Speaker 4: all the people, it's– It's playoff or bust for sure. Now,
- 4:46Speaker 4: if LSU finds a way to not make it to
- 4:50Speaker 4: the playoffs, it will be a disappointing season. So, yes,
- 4:53Speaker 4: you add those things up. And you've got to think, LSU,
- 4:57Speaker 4: they were a really good defense. Now, they weren't feared.
- 4:59Speaker 4: We hope they become feared this year. But you can't
- 5:03Speaker 4: be feared when you don't have guys making sacks, right?
- 5:06Speaker 4: If you can't create a pass rush with a four-man rush,
- 5:09Speaker 4: you are not going to be a feared defense. So
- 5:11Speaker 4: hopefully we can create that pass rush and combine that
- 5:14Speaker 4: with everything else that we know Blake Baker can do.
- 5:17Speaker 4: The creativity, creating pressure, being creative, bringing looks to quarterbacks
- 5:22Speaker 4: that make it really challenge the quarterback and the lineman
- 5:26Speaker 4: and the running back to see things pre-snap.
- 5:28Speaker 5: We see them do it.
- 5:29Speaker 4: They bring weak corners. They bring weak side safeties. Blake
- 5:33Speaker 4: Baker's great at creating pressure. But if you can Combine
- 5:38Speaker 4: that with also being able to pressure the quarterback without
- 5:42Speaker 4: bringing a linebacker. And get home with four. Get home
- 5:44Speaker 4: with four. Who's our lead sack leader last year?
- 5:47Speaker 5: Harold Perkins. Harold Perkins. Well, actually playing your favorite position, star.
- 5:51Speaker 4: Well, we're going to move on from that.
- 5:56Speaker 5: Hey, let me ask you a question about.
- 6:01Speaker 6: Practicing– against that offense every single day in spring and
- 6:06Speaker 6: in early parts of training camp. There's some point you
- 6:08Speaker 6: start to work on Clemson, but for the LSU defense
- 6:11Speaker 6: and for Blake Baker to go against that defense and
- 6:16Speaker 6: have to kind of change it up a little bit
- 6:17Speaker 6: because you do like to bring a lot of different things.
- 6:19Speaker 6: And maybe you found a way to bring more going
- 6:22Speaker 6: against that fast paced offense, or maybe you just, you
- 6:24Speaker 6: had to play against it in a different way. So
- 6:26Speaker 6: now you feel like you have a different tool, another
- 6:28Speaker 6: tool in your tool bag. Do you think that– because
- 6:31Speaker 6: I think that kind of probably helped them because last
- 6:35Speaker 6: year when they played Ole Miss, they couldn't do all
- 6:36Speaker 6: the things that they were doing to get to that point. Now,
- 6:39Speaker 6: some of it was because they had to. They couldn't
- 6:41Speaker 6: get pressure on the quarterback. But a coordinator that likes
- 6:45Speaker 6: to do as much as Blake Baker does, I have
- 6:47Speaker 6: to imagine, what, 20 practices against that offense. He had
- 6:50Speaker 6: to come up with some stuff that he felt better
- 6:52Speaker 6: about going against an offense like that.
- 6:54Speaker 4: You know, last year we heard the stories about when
- 6:57Speaker 4: Brian Kelly got fired. He had to ask– Frank Wilson, like, hey,
- 7:00Speaker 4: can we do inside run? Because there's things I need
- 7:03Speaker 4: to practice on that I do not get in practice
- 7:05Speaker 4: because we don't hit enough.
- 7:07Speaker 6: He had to do that before they played Clemson last year.
- 7:10Speaker 6: He said, hey, can we borrow some of your offensive
- 7:14Speaker 6: guys because we have to go over these run fits
- 7:17Speaker 6: because y'all didn't give us enough of a look in
- 7:19Speaker 6: training camp to make us feel good about it.
- 7:22Speaker 4: I would think that in a similar way, He was
- 7:28Speaker 4: probably very ready to get to game week and game
- 7:31Speaker 4: preparation because you can't do a lot of those creative blitzes, pressures,
- 7:38Speaker 4: looks against a fast-paced offense. So he probably was ready
- 7:41Speaker 4: to slow it down a little bit so they can
- 7:43Speaker 4: install a lot of different things. Now, I'm sure they've
- 7:45Speaker 4: talked about it, but there's only so much you can do. But, yeah,
- 7:49Speaker 4: I would assume that the communication on the deep, like
- 7:54Speaker 4: they practice every day having to communicate fast.
- 7:56Speaker 5: Quick. Now, last year, you're only preparing for an offense
- 7:59Speaker 5: like that one. Six seconds is what they shoot for.
- 8:01Speaker 4: Six seconds between what?
- 8:03Speaker 5: The balls, like, snapping, getting lined up. It's crazy.
- 8:06Speaker 4: It's crazy stuff. So, the communication I would expect to
- 8:09Speaker 4: be on point for LSU. The game is going to be,
- 8:12Speaker 4: for the defense, the game is going to be so
- 8:14Speaker 4: much slower this weekend than it is every single day
- 8:18Speaker 4: in practice. And you hear coaches and the best players
- 8:21Speaker 4: ever to do it, they always say the same thing.
- 8:23Speaker 4: Make practice hard. You want practice to be as hard
- 8:27Speaker 4: as you can so the game is easy. And for
- 8:30Speaker 4: the defense, it's probably going to feel like they're moving
- 8:32Speaker 4: in slow motion out there based on what they've been
- 8:35Speaker 4: seeing every single day, you know, through spring, through summer,
- 8:38Speaker 4: through training camp, of course. So I would expect the
- 8:41Speaker 4: communication to be on point. Blake Baker standpoint, he was
- 8:45Speaker 4: probably like, let's get the Clemson scout team out there
- 8:47Speaker 4: so we can slow down so I can do my walk-arounds.
- 8:51Speaker 4: I can do my one hand in the dirt guy.
- 8:54Speaker 4: I can bring my floods, my storms, my weak cats,
- 8:57Speaker 4: all these different things that they are probably not able
- 9:01Speaker 4: to do just going against Lane Kiffin's offense in practice.
- 9:04Speaker 6: I can't stress it enough, going to practice, how the
- 9:06Speaker 6: offensive staff, it is their main point of focus of
- 9:11Speaker 6: When whenever you're the ball carrier or the receiver, whatever
- 9:14Speaker 6: you catch a ball, like how quick they want you
- 9:16Speaker 6: to spot the ball and how quickly they want you
- 9:19Speaker 6: to get lined up and how quickly they want to
- 9:21Speaker 6: get a ball snap. Like it was highly impressive to me.
- 9:24Speaker 6: And I've watched a game with Lane before where the
- 9:28Speaker 6: offense wasn't going fast. And he like starts like just
- 9:30Speaker 6: kind of getting uncomfortable, like truly like, oh, just bored.
- 9:33Speaker 4: Oh, my God.
- 9:34Speaker 5: Like this is so slow. Like, what are they doing?
- 9:36Speaker 5: Get to the ball. And then the thing he really loves.
- 9:40Speaker 5: Loves it. And then looks over to the side. They
- 9:43Speaker 5: do that?
- 9:44Speaker 2: No.
- 9:45Speaker 5: He hates it. So how do they get to play?
- 9:48Speaker 6: That's inside info that I'm not ready to give here.
- 9:55Speaker 5: Okay.
- 9:55Speaker 4: So I do know that there, and I'm just going
- 9:57Speaker 4: to speak. I don't know the rules, the headset rules. rules.
- 10:02Speaker 4: In college right now, I'm sure they're available.
- 10:03Speaker 5: It's just like the NFL. It cuts off at a
- 10:05Speaker 5: certain time.
- 10:06Speaker 4: It cuts off at what? It was 15 seconds?
- 10:07Speaker 5: 15 seconds, yeah.
- 10:08Speaker 4: So you get there, it's a 40-second clock. You get there,
- 10:11Speaker 4: the faster you can get lined up. So legitimately, they
- 10:17Speaker 4: can call the play. I'm not saying this happens or
- 10:20Speaker 4: doesn't happen, but I would suspect something. You get to
- 10:22Speaker 4: the line of scrimmage, you call the play. You can
- 10:25Speaker 4: actually have your coach talking to you.
- 10:27Speaker 5: Oh, absolutely.
- 10:28Speaker 4: Hey, watch the safety to the left. While you're not
- 10:31Speaker 4: calling the snap count, you're clapping. Maybe that's why they
- 10:34Speaker 4: do the clap count, because your coach is talking to
- 10:36Speaker 4: you the whole time. And if you're yelling, you can't
- 10:38Speaker 4: hear it. Did we just uncover something? So the coach
- 10:43Speaker 4: can talk to you throughout the entirety of the play
- 10:45Speaker 4: if you snap it early enough.
- 10:48Speaker 5: You snap the ball, he could say... You're saying if
- 10:50Speaker 5: it cuts off at 15? No, I'm saying if you
- 10:53Speaker 5: snap the ball... I'm saying, right, if it never gets
- 10:54Speaker 5: to 15. If you snap the ball... I think it
- 10:55Speaker 5: does cut off, like, when the ball is snapped, though.
- 10:57Speaker 4: Who's cutting that off? Does it cut off with the...
- 10:59Speaker 4: I believe so.
- 11:02Speaker 5: I don't know how much that helps that offense with
- 11:04Speaker 5: how fast they go. Like, if you're... If you're a.
- 11:06Speaker 4: Coach that's in the booth and saying, throw the go-route
- 11:09Speaker 4: to the left.
- 11:10Speaker 6: Oh, you could, like, if you're lining up and you
- 11:12Speaker 6: see them kind of scramming a little bit and you
- 11:14Speaker 6: haven't snapped the ball yet.
- 11:15Speaker 4: And I doubt they do that because sometimes that can
- 11:18Speaker 4: hurt more than help.
- 11:19Speaker 5: Sometimes the quarterback does.
- 11:20Speaker 6: Just like sometimes the hitter doesn't want to know what
- 11:22Speaker 6: pitch is coming.
- 11:23Speaker 4: But if you get us on a scrimmage and, like, look,
- 11:26Speaker 4: that would be the best reasoning I've ever heard for
- 11:28Speaker 4: a clap count. If your coach is telling you pre-snap
- 11:33Speaker 4: what to do or what to look for, hey, alert
- 11:35Speaker 4: pressure off the slot here or whatever. Alert weak cat. alert,
- 11:39Speaker 4: you know, oh, I see this is press man. You're
- 11:41Speaker 4: going to pressure off the strong side, be alert for
- 11:43Speaker 4: your go right. You got so-and-so one-on-one to.
- 11:46Speaker 5: The weak side.
- 11:48Speaker 4: That would be the best reasoning I've ever heard for
- 11:50Speaker 4: a clap count and one that I could, you know,
- 11:54Speaker 4: not support certainly, but not hate quite as much because
- 11:58Speaker 4: you're certainly not going to hear them if you're calling
- 12:00Speaker 4: a snap count. But, yeah, that would be interesting. I'd
- 12:02Speaker 4: like to know if the headset cuts off after the
- 12:05Speaker 4: ball is snapped.
- 12:07Speaker 5: I think it does.
- 12:07Speaker 4: Because when was the last time Ole Miss snapped the
- 12:09Speaker 4: ball last year with 15 seconds?
- 12:12Speaker 5: They were probably trying to bleed clock.
- 12:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:14Speaker 6: That would be the only situation I would see that
- 12:17Speaker 6: actually happening. I wonder how much in that offense.
- 12:21Speaker 4: That's the case, and that makes your offensive coordinator very
- 12:23Speaker 4: valuable if he's telling them what to do.
- 12:26Speaker 5: Or giving them hints, at least.
- 12:28Speaker 6: I wonder how much in that offense, because a lot
- 12:31Speaker 6: of times you're calling a play based off a little
- 12:33Speaker 6: bit of what you see, but I wonder how much
- 12:35Speaker 6: that offense is.
- 12:35Speaker 5: You call your call.
- 12:37Speaker 6: Knowing that they're not going to be able to get
- 12:39Speaker 6: lined up and give you a look that you adjust to.
- 12:43Speaker 6: And you kind of know what they like to do
- 12:45Speaker 6: in certain situations, first down, second down, third down, down
- 12:47Speaker 6: in distance. And you call the call based off just
- 12:49Speaker 6: the analytics of it. Because you're not really adjusting because
- 12:52Speaker 6: you don't spend enough time to make a check.
- 12:55Speaker 4: Within the first quarter, maybe even the first half of
- 12:58Speaker 4: the first quarter, you're going to know what defense they're
- 13:01Speaker 4: trying to play. Because as a defensive coordinator, going against
- 13:04Speaker 4: an offense that operates that fast, There's only so many
- 13:08Speaker 4: defenses you can carry into a game. You're not going
- 13:11Speaker 4: to have 12 different coverages, looks to bring into a
- 13:16Speaker 4: game versus an offense that goes that fast.
- 13:19Speaker 5: You just can't.
- 13:21Speaker 4: The operation, you can't move. You can't operate that fast.
- 13:24Speaker 4: You can't communicate that fast. And then you go into halftime.
- 13:28Speaker 4: You come out in the third quarter. They might try
- 13:30Speaker 4: to change a little bit. They might try to add something.
- 13:32Speaker 4: Maybe they want to add a pressure with a different front.
- 13:35Speaker 4: But they can't do too much. They can add something.
- 13:39Speaker 4: So you might get one more look in the third
- 13:41Speaker 4: quarter that you did the whole first half. But the coaches,
- 13:45Speaker 4: after that first couple of drives, the offensive coordinators are
- 13:48Speaker 4: going to know what three coverages they're running, what couple
- 13:51Speaker 4: of defenses, which pressures. Okay, all right, I got it.
- 13:55Speaker 4: You're going to have two calls. You're going to bring
- 13:57Speaker 4: four down.
- 13:58Speaker 5: You're going to bring your front four for the most part.
- 14:00Speaker 4: Your two pressures are strong dog and– The free safety
- 14:07Speaker 4: off the weak side. Those are your two pressure calls.
- 14:09Speaker 4: We got your calls for the game. Maybe you add
- 14:11Speaker 4: something at halftime, but you're not going into the game
- 14:14Speaker 4: with 15 different blitzes and pressures.
- 14:16Speaker 5: You can't.
- 14:16Speaker 4: You just can't do it. So the offensive coordinators are
- 14:19Speaker 4: going to know basically what the game plan is for
- 14:21Speaker 4: the defense early on.
- 14:22Speaker 6: Yeah, because they're dictating what it is. That's what makes
- 14:25Speaker 6: the offense very effective.
- 14:26Speaker 4: That's why you've got that big-ass call sheet, and they're like, okay,
- 14:29Speaker 4: these are our cover one beaters, cover three beaters, our
- 14:32Speaker 4: strong dog beaters, our two, four quarters. They've got all
- 14:34Speaker 4: that for every down a distance, and everything is pretty
- 14:37Speaker 4: much mapped out. And then when they do that, and
- 14:40Speaker 4: you can talk to the quarterback until the snap, it gives.
- 14:43Speaker 5: You an advantage. Yeah. All right, we are going to
- 14:47Speaker 5: step away.
- 14:47Speaker 6: A little pontoon parlay coming up. We got what's the
- 14:51Speaker 6: ticket coming up. And then our final thoughts on LSU
- 14:54Speaker 6: and Clemson. Taylor in the chat did ask anyone going
- 14:56Speaker 6: to U-High versus Rumble tonight. Taylor is actually going to
- 15:00Speaker 6: be on the call for that game, and I'll be there.
- 15:03Speaker 6: I'll be in attendance. I'll be rooting on J-Bones and
- 15:06Speaker 6: Knox Hester.
- 15:07Speaker 5: Don't worry. I'll be there. I'll be rooting them all.
- 15:09Speaker 5: And you hear that, Craig Stelz? What's the line? You
- 15:11Speaker 5: hear that, Kevin Stelz? I hope Kevin didn't hear it.
- 15:14Speaker 5: You hear that Garrett wobble? Rommel Raiders?
- 15:18Speaker 4: Rommel Raiders.
- 15:19Speaker 5: I don't know. Rommel's probably a favorite. I don't know.
- 15:22Speaker 5: They do have a Nussmeyer. He got there two weeks ago.
- 15:24Speaker 5: They do.
- 15:25Speaker 6: They do have a Nussbus of their own. That game's
- 15:27Speaker 6: going to be in Baton Rouge, in the capital city,
- 15:30Speaker 6: as you like to say. But I'll be there. I'm
- 15:32Speaker 6: looking forward to it. It should be a good game.
- 15:35Speaker 6: We'll see if the Cubs can get it done. Roma
- 15:36Speaker 6: got the best of us last year down in the Superdome.
- 15:38Speaker 6: We'll see if we can get it done this year.
- 15:40Speaker 6: All right, we will step away. A little pontoon parlay
- 15:43Speaker 6: when we come back here on OTB.
- 15:47Speaker 5: Off the bench.
- 15:49Speaker 6: All right, go to bathfitter.com, Bath Fitter of Baton Rouge.

- 16:54Speaker 6: From the.
- 17:02Speaker 1: Locker room to the airwaves, it's Off the Bench with
- 17:05Speaker 1: Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn.
- 17:15Speaker 5: All right, welcome back in.
- 17:16Speaker 6: OTB here live from Rouse's little football Friday. Going to
- 17:21Speaker 6: be here every Friday during the football season.
- 17:24Speaker 5: Always look forward to it. It is officially the start
- 17:26Speaker 5: of football season when you end up at Rouse's. Real quick,
- 17:30Speaker 5: before we get.
- 17:30Speaker 6: To the pontoon parlay, somebody here on this desk kind
- 17:35Speaker 6: of talked a little ill of DJs and the skill
- 17:39Speaker 6: set that they had.
- 17:40Speaker 5: Right or wrong? You want to defend yourself?
- 17:43Speaker 4: Okay, so look, I just said that there's DJs out
- 17:47Speaker 4: there that get paid half a million dollars for a
- 17:50Speaker 4: set in Vegas. You got all these people, and they
- 17:53Speaker 4: get paid a lot of money, an exceptional amount of money,
- 17:56Speaker 4: for what seems to be, during the concert, seems to
- 18:00Speaker 4: be just pushing a couple buttons, moving a couple of knobs. Now,
- 18:03Speaker 4: I know there's a lot of prep that goes into it,
- 18:06Speaker 4: but I've been at these DJ parties. I was at
- 18:09Speaker 4: a DJ-type vacation this summer. And it's like, there's a
- 18:14Speaker 4: lot of buildup. They're hyping it up. They get a
- 18:16Speaker 4: crowd up. They're not even doing anything. They're just doing this.
- 18:17Speaker 4: They're waving their hands. They're pumping it up. And then
- 18:19Speaker 4: they go, push a button, bass drop, beat drop, and
- 18:23Speaker 4: then people lose their mind.
- 18:26Speaker 5: This is not all DJs. Nope.
- 18:30Speaker 6: Our favorite DJ just brought us these seats that are
- 18:34Speaker 6: a backpack that are a cooler all in one.
- 18:37Speaker 5: Not a huge deal. It's not. He brought me one.
- 18:39Speaker 4: Too, even though I said those things about DJ.
- 18:41Speaker 5: Even though he talked trash about him. Actually, I didn't.
- 18:44Speaker 5: Dos Equis.
- 18:46Speaker 4: I think at the time, I don't even know if
- 18:47Speaker 4: I talked trash. I said I wanted to be a DJ.
- 18:50Speaker 5: Felt like shit.
- 18:51Speaker 4: Me and my buddy AJ were at a party in
- 18:54Speaker 4: New York City. There was a DJ there. We're like,
- 18:56Speaker 4: we could do that. So we're going to maybe be co-DJs.
- 19:00Speaker 4: DJ Hammond Egg.
- 19:01Speaker 5: What do you think? DJ Hammond Egg. DJ CTE. DJ CTE,
- 19:08Speaker 5: for sure.
- 19:12Speaker 4: Over under one and a half catches for Dayquan.
- 19:17Speaker 5: Over. Over?
- 19:19Speaker 6: Over.
- 19:19Speaker 5: Matt, can you fix your mic?
- 19:20Speaker 4: Maybe first two plays of the game. First play of
- 19:23Speaker 4: the game. What did Alondra say?
- 19:24Speaker 5: I don't know. Alondra, what did you say?
- 19:26Speaker 7: Closer to your mouth.
- 19:27Speaker 5: Oh my god this guy's a rookie no look it's
- 19:30Speaker 5: floppy look at this.
- 19:32Speaker 6: Yeah it is floppy he's got a floppy microphone.
- 19:35Speaker 4: It's weird the tech's not working it's the strangest thing.
- 19:37Speaker 6: Yeah weird for otb it'll be fixed by the afternoon
- 19:40Speaker 6: don't worry um all right let's give a little pontoon
- 19:43Speaker 6: parlay uh was last week our best week no but
- 19:47Speaker 6: we're just ironing it out.
- 19:49Speaker 4: We hit one of them.
- 19:51Speaker 5: One of five. It was week zero. We don't know
- 19:53Speaker 5: about these teams. We're doing that now?
- 19:56Speaker 6: Do we know anything about these teams in week number one?
- 20:00Speaker 6: Maybe not. Maybe we don't. But we're going to find
- 20:03Speaker 6: out together. And that's what the journey's all about.
- 20:07Speaker 5: Life's a journey. Life is a journey. It's all right.
- 20:11Speaker 5: The destination.
- 20:12Speaker 6: So we're going to throw back to studio and we're
- 20:15Speaker 6: going to allow Taytay and Alondra to give you their
- 20:19Speaker 6: picks for the pontoon parlay. Then we'll throw it back
- 20:21Speaker 6: here to Rouse's and we'll give you the final two
- 20:23Speaker 6: legs of the parlay.
- 20:25Speaker 5: So Taytay, Mr. Sharp, go ahead and there. I'll kick
- 20:30Speaker 5: us off here.
- 20:31Speaker 7: Cincinnati and Boston College in Nippert Stadium. The Bearcats are
- 20:35Speaker 7: at home. They are currently a seven and a half
- 20:37Speaker 7: point favorite. over Boston College. They returned three starters from
- 20:41Speaker 7: an offensive line that was a Joe Moore semifinalist a
- 20:44Speaker 7: year ago.
- 20:45Speaker 5: J.C.
- 20:45Speaker 7: French, they brought in a quarterback, love him, and they
- 20:48Speaker 7: won their first five games last year at Nippert Stadium
- 20:51Speaker 7: and have been good in season openers.
- 20:53Speaker 5: Under Scott Satterfield, on the flip side.
- 20:54Speaker 7: Of things, Boston College, 2-10 in 2025, and they spent
- 20:58Speaker 7: the least amount on their roster among all power programs.
- 21:02Speaker 7: Pair all that together, I'm going to take Cincinnati to
- 21:04Speaker 7: cover the 7.5 at home against Boston College.
- 21:08Speaker 6: All right, Cincinnati minus 7.5.
- 21:10Speaker 5: Say Nipper. Versus Boston College. Nipper.
- 21:16Speaker 6: N-I-P-P-E-R-T. Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio. Cincinnati minus 7.5 against Boston College.
- 21:24Speaker 4: Nipper Stadium. You can milk anything with nipples, Greg.
- 21:28Speaker 6: All right, on that note, let's go to Alondra Villareal
- 21:32Speaker 6: with her pick for the pontoon parlay.
- 21:34Speaker 3: Okay, so my pick for the pontoon parlay, I have been...
- 21:38Speaker 3: having it at the ready since the line came out.
- 21:41Speaker 3: I think you're right that it was plus seven and
- 21:43Speaker 3: a half, but I'm going to go Louisville plus six
- 21:46Speaker 3: and a half neutral site game. I usually like them
- 21:49Speaker 3: when they're underdogs and they were 16th nationally in defense
- 21:53Speaker 3: in yards per game last year. Hunt, please quiet on
- 21:58Speaker 3: the set. Hunts in here sneezing. But anyway, I think
- 22:02Speaker 3: that Ole Miss does take a step back despite everybody
- 22:06Speaker 3: else thinking that they do not. And I believe in
- 22:09Speaker 3: Jeff Braum. So I'm going to go Louisville plus six
- 22:12Speaker 3: and a half. And I would really, really enjoy it
- 22:14Speaker 3: if Louisville won.
- 22:17Speaker 5: Really fun.
- 22:18Speaker 4: It'd be really fun for us.
- 22:20Speaker 5: That it would.
- 22:21Speaker 6: All right, so, so far we've got Cincinnati minus 7.5
- 22:24Speaker 6: at home against Boston College.
- 22:28Speaker 5: We have got Louisville plus 6.5.
- 22:29Speaker 6: In a neutral site game in Nashville against the Ole
- 22:35Speaker 6: Miss Rebels.
- 22:36Speaker 5: All right, Matthew, Clayton, Flynn. You know, it's tough. This
- 22:40Speaker 5: is a tough weekend to pick.
- 22:42Speaker 1: It is.
- 22:42Speaker 4: Because there's so many 35, 40-plus lines out there.
- 22:50Speaker 5: So what I'm going to do here.
- 22:52Speaker 4: Is I am going to side with the country on this.
- 22:57Speaker 5: Okay. I've talked about this earlier.
- 22:59Speaker 4: There's Georgia, Oklahoma, all the top dogs in the SEC,
- 23:03Speaker 4: all the top dogs in the country, even not top dogs.
- 23:06Speaker 5: They are 38, 39. That would be Mississippi State.
- 23:09Speaker 4: Mississippi State is 40-point favorites against ULM.
- 23:13Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 23:14Speaker 4: Everybody is a very big favorite, except one sticks out
- 23:17Speaker 4: to me, the University of Texas. over, I guess, the
- 23:20Speaker 4: Pac-12 team, Texas State. They're 29.5 point favorites. And in
- 23:26Speaker 4: this strange week of college football where there are so
- 23:29Speaker 4: many big lines, that one doesn't seem quite as big,
- 23:32Speaker 4: but people think that Ark Manning is the next coming.
- 23:36Speaker 4: They think that Texas might be one of the best
- 23:38Speaker 4: teams in the whole country.
- 23:40Speaker 5: So I'm going to take Texas.
- 23:41Speaker 4: I'm going to lay the points, minus 29.5.
- 23:45Speaker 6: All right, Texas minus 29.5 versus Texas State.
- 23:55Speaker 5: All right.
- 23:56Speaker 4: I don't know how anybody feels about that. There's not
- 23:59Speaker 4: that many more games to pick that, I mean.
- 24:03Speaker 5: I thought somebody would go Auburn and Baylor. I thought
- 24:06Speaker 5: about going Baylor. I thought somebody would go Tulane and Duke.
- 24:08Speaker 4: I didn't want to disrespect the Wandra and her pick
- 24:11Speaker 4: and her love for Auburn this year.
- 24:13Speaker 5: All right. Love is crazy.
- 24:16Speaker 3: That's a strong word. Love is a strong word.
- 24:21Speaker 6: All right, so a little quick recap of the pontoon parlay.
- 24:24Speaker 6: Taylor goes Cincinnati minus 7.5 at home versus Boston College.
- 24:29Speaker 6: Alondra goes Louisville plus 6.5 versus Ole Miss in Nashville.
- 24:34Speaker 6: Flynn is going Texas minus 29.5 at home versus Texas State.
- 24:39Speaker 6: And I am going to go SMU minus 3.
- 24:45Speaker 5: At Florida State. Florida State looked bad-bad in a win
- 24:50Speaker 5: last week. I like SMU. Who did they play last week?
- 24:53Speaker 5: New Mexico State without Diego Pavia.
- 24:56Speaker 6: I like SMU. I like Rhett Lashley. I think Kevin
- 24:59Speaker 6: Jennings usually plays well in a game like this. He's
- 25:04Speaker 6: back for his 73rd season as a starting quarterback for SMU.
- 25:08Speaker 5: I like the Mustangs against the Seminoles. Let's go. I
- 25:15Speaker 5: believe that game.
- 25:18Speaker 4: Florida State's going to have a new head coach next year, right?
- 25:20Speaker 5: Yeah, just waiting on the buyout to go down. It's
- 25:24Speaker 5: a big number.
- 25:24Speaker 4: You know, that's what teams do when they care about
- 25:26Speaker 4: their football. They just wait until that buyout number goes down.
- 25:29Speaker 5: Well, Florida State does not have the dollar-dollar bills.
- 25:31Speaker 6: That's why Jimbo left to go to Texas A &
- 25:33Speaker 6: M years ago. That game is going to be, I
- 25:37Speaker 6: thought so, a Monday night game in Tallahassee.
- 25:40Speaker 5: Ooh, two and a half.
- 25:42Speaker 4: Okay, now we get a two and a half.
- 25:43Speaker 5: Two and a half. Two and a half.
- 25:45Speaker 6: We're seeing it right now. We are seeing it right now.
- 25:48Speaker 6: SMU minus two and a half is the number. I
- 25:54Speaker 6: think Rhett Lashley's done a heck of a job there.
- 25:57Speaker 6: I'm not saying it's going to be easy going to Tallahassee.
- 25:59Speaker 6: Florida State played great at the beginning of the early
- 26:02Speaker 6: portion last year, beating Alabama, but that did not translate
- 26:05Speaker 6: to this year. They did not look good against New
- 26:07Speaker 6: Mexico State.
- 26:08Speaker 4: What a wild world last year. Alabama losing to a
- 26:12Speaker 4: very bad Florida State team. And then end up making
- 26:15Speaker 4: up playoffs.
- 26:16Speaker 5: Yes. As we all had it.
- 26:19Speaker 4: Can we all agree that college football is kind of
- 26:24Speaker 4: cooler when Florida State's good?
- 26:26Speaker 5: No, they're one of those programs for sure. It's one
- 26:27Speaker 5: of those programs.
- 26:28Speaker 4: And maybe it's just our nostalgia coming out. But they
- 26:32Speaker 4: were good not too long ago in the overall scheme
- 26:35Speaker 4: of things. I mean, it's been over a decade, I guess,
- 26:37Speaker 4: but Still, college football is better, so I wish they would.
- 26:42Speaker 4: I wish they would be good. I like this little thing.
- 26:48Speaker 5: I like when the Braves do it better. The Atlanta Braves.
- 26:51Speaker 5: Talking baseball?
- 26:55Speaker 6: You're supposed to be doing it.
- 26:58Speaker 5: I was giving you the beat. The moment's moved. The
- 27:02Speaker 5: moment's passed. All right.
- 27:04Speaker 6: Missed it that is the pontoon parlay we'll put that
- 27:06Speaker 6: out there on social media so you can see it
- 27:09Speaker 6: as well on our otb page on twitter and on
- 27:12Speaker 6: instagram just in case you forgot one of the picks
- 27:14Speaker 6: we got you covered and we are going to play
- 27:17Speaker 6: a little what's the ticket when we come back here
- 27:20Speaker 6: on otb live from.
- 27:21Speaker 5: Rouses off the bench All right.
- 27:25Speaker 6: Plumbing problems don't care what time it is. And when

- 28:21Speaker 4: out 24-7. Emergency service, the experts, Central Plumbing, centralplumbing.org.
- 28:41Speaker 7: From the locker room to the.
- 28:47Speaker 1: Airwaves, it's Off the Bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn.
- 29:18Speaker 5: Hello. Hello, somebody. What's happening? What it do?
- 29:23Speaker 4: Flight crew?
- 29:24Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 29:26Speaker 4: Drink my high.
- 29:31Speaker 5: Nobody asked for that. Everybody asked for that.
- 29:34Speaker 4: Kidding me? That's why it's almost sold out here.
- 29:38Speaker 5: Go see our friends over at Tommy's Windows. Doors, and Siding.
- 29:40Speaker 5: Go Tommy's. G-E-A-U-X.
- 29:42Speaker 6: Tommy's with a Y.com. You will clearly see the difference.

- 30:03Speaker 6: gutters as well. Go to GoTommy's, G-E-A-U-X, Tommy's with a
- 30:07Speaker 6: Y dot com. We'll clearly see the difference. All right,
- 30:11Speaker 6: let's play a little What's the Ticket? And if you're
- 30:15Speaker 6: new to the show, you don't remember us playing this
- 30:17Speaker 6: last year, what we do is we go across the
- 30:18Speaker 6: top 25 of We look at all the ticket prices
- 30:22Speaker 6: to get into the game, not the most expensive or
- 30:25Speaker 6: the cheapest in that game, but just to get in.
- 30:27Speaker 6: We want two feet inside of the stadium, and we
- 30:31Speaker 6: go across the top 25. At least one team has
- 30:33Speaker 6: to be in the top 25.
- 30:35Speaker 5: We go highest. We go lowest. We keep score. We
- 30:38Speaker 5: see who's good and who's really, really bad. At this game.
- 30:41Speaker 6: So we're going to start with the lowest ticket in
- 30:45Speaker 6: the top 25 this weekend. And here is the group
- 30:49Speaker 6: of games to choose from. Is it Miami at Stanford?
- 30:55Speaker 6: Is it SMU at Florida State? Is it Tennessee State
- 31:01Speaker 6: at Georgia? What about East Carolina at Alabama? Or is
- 31:06Speaker 6: it Fresno State at USC? So, again, quick recap. Miami
- 31:11Speaker 6: at Stanford, SMU at Florida State, Tennessee at Georgia, East
- 31:15Speaker 6: Carolina at Alabama, Fresno State at USC.
- 31:18Speaker 5: Mr.
- 31:19Speaker 6: Taylor Sharp, you're up first, sir.
- 31:23Speaker 7: I'm just hoping people actually show up to this game.
- 31:25Speaker 7: If you're the Trojans, I'm going USC. That game there,
- 31:28Speaker 7: I mean, that crowd last week was an embarrassment. They're
- 31:30Speaker 7: probably trying to lower ticket prices just to get people
- 31:32Speaker 7: in the door. So I'm going USC, Fresno State.
- 31:34Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm going to go with the same one.
- 31:39Speaker 4: Okay.
- 31:39Speaker 5: All right. That was pretty quick there.
- 31:40Speaker 4: Yeah, I was going to go with the same one, too,
- 31:42Speaker 4: but I won't. Because you're not a sheep. That's not
- 31:45Speaker 4: going to be exciting radio. Yeah, I think three people
- 31:48Speaker 4: did go to the last UFC home game.
- 31:50Speaker 5: It was friends and family. It was so bad that I.
- 31:54Speaker 4: Think Lincoln Riley actually had to address it in the
- 31:57Speaker 4: media as well.
- 31:59Speaker 5: Yeah, they're losers.
- 32:01Speaker 4: So I'll go Miami at Stanford. I'll keep it in
- 32:05Speaker 4: California because California sucks. And obviously Miami fans aren't going
- 32:09Speaker 4: to travel. Maybe not even friends and family. Okay.
- 32:12Speaker 6: All right, so we'll go from the most expensive to
- 32:16Speaker 6: the least expensive here in the low ticket. Coming in
- 32:20Speaker 6: at number five, at $ 31, it is Miami at Stanford.
- 32:26Speaker 5: You're great at this game.
- 32:27Speaker 6: Coming in at number four at $ 28, it is SMU
- 32:32Speaker 6: at Florida State.
- 32:34Speaker 5: Coming in at.
- 32:35Speaker 6: Number three at $ 26, it is Tennessee State at UGA.
- 32:43Speaker 6: And at number two, coming in at $ 22, it is.
- 32:48Speaker 5: Fresno State at USC.
- 32:50Speaker 6: And coming in at number one in a landslide, the
- 32:52Speaker 6: cheapest ticket involving a top 25 team this week in
- 32:56Speaker 6: college football.
- 32:57Speaker 5: At $ 10.
- 32:58Speaker 6: Ten Bones gets you into East Carolina at Alabama. $ 10
- 33:04Speaker 6: will get you inside.
- 33:06Speaker 5: Of Bryant-Denny Stadium there in Tuscaloosa. Wow, Saban would never.
- 33:10Speaker 5: All right, so 0 for on this one. Zero.
- 33:13Speaker 4: We're just lucky that it's not in Miami because last year,
- 33:15Speaker 4: I remember the ticket price is in Miami.
- 33:17Speaker 5: Or like six bucks. And they were good.
- 33:21Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 33:22Speaker 4: And playing pretty good teams, too, when it was $ 6.
- 33:24Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 33:24Speaker 3: Anyway.
- 33:25Speaker 5: They were. Anyway, I digress. All right, let's go to,
- 33:27Speaker 5: that's the second time you've said that. You've been listening
- 33:29Speaker 5: to too much of AFR. I have a proclivity to
- 33:31Speaker 5: say that. Okay. All right, let's go to the.
- 33:33Speaker 6: Highest ticket in the top 25. Again, it's got to
- 33:35Speaker 6: have at least one team in the top 25. Here's
- 33:38Speaker 6: the list of games to choose from. Is it Boise
- 33:42Speaker 6: State at Oregon? Is it Clemson at LSU? Is it
- 33:47Speaker 6: the Apple Cup, Washington State at Washington? Is it Wisconsin
- 33:52Speaker 6: at Notre Dame in Lambeau? Or is it in Nashville
- 33:55Speaker 6: between Louisville and Ole Miss? We'll go to Alondra, blank space,
- 34:01Speaker 6: Villarreal to start us off here.
- 34:03Speaker 3: So the Lambeau one threw me for a loop here
- 34:06Speaker 3: because for some reason I feel like that one might
- 34:09Speaker 3: be just because it's at Lambeau and it's Notre Dame.
- 34:12Speaker 3: But I'm going to go Clemson at LSU.
- 34:15Speaker 5: That feels obvious. Well, we're going the same once again.
- 34:19Speaker 5: I think that's the obvious one.
- 34:21Speaker 7: Ole Miss and Notre Dame both being on neutral side,
- 34:23Speaker 7: I think helps LSU. I think having this game on campus,
- 34:27Speaker 7: really your first home game since 2019. If you don't
- 34:29Speaker 7: count the COVID year, Lane Kiffin era, that's the game.
- 34:32Speaker 5: Okay. Okay.
- 34:35Speaker 4: I'll go different then again. I'm not going to go
- 34:39Speaker 4: LSU Clemson just because number of seats there are. There's
- 34:43Speaker 4: 900 free credentials that were handed out as well to
- 34:46Speaker 4: celebrities and media.
- 34:49Speaker 5: I'll go with Lambeau. I'll go up to Lambeau. Is
- 34:52Speaker 5: it Notre Dame, Wisconsin? Wisconsin, yes, Notre Dame.
- 34:55Speaker 6: It's actually technically they're calling it a Notre Dame home game.
- 34:58Speaker 5: I don't know. I don't know.
- 35:00Speaker 4: Notre Dame stinks, but whatever. It's in Lambeau, and that's awesome.
- 35:03Speaker 4: And people want to go to that. It's a bucket
- 35:04Speaker 4: list trip for a lot of people. So let's go there.
- 35:08Speaker 5: Sure.
- 35:09Speaker 6: All right, let's go from the least expensive to the
- 35:11Speaker 6: most expensive. All right, at number five at $ 63, it
- 35:17Speaker 6: is Boise State at Oregon. Coming in at number four
- 35:21Speaker 6: at $ 71, it's Louisville versus Ole Miss. Coming in at
- 35:26Speaker 6: number three in the Apple Cup, it's Wazoo at Washington
- 35:30Speaker 6: at $ 95. At number two at $ 133 to get two
- 35:32Speaker 6: feet into the stadium, it is the matchup in the
- 35:39Speaker 6: Real Death Valley between Clemson and LSU. And the winner
- 35:45Speaker 6: at $ 172 is Wisconsin and Notre Dame in Lambeau.
- 35:51Speaker 4: Yes.
- 35:51Speaker 5: We had one correct. You should have. I know.
- 35:55Speaker 3: I know.
- 35:55Speaker 5: We had one correct answer.
- 35:56Speaker 4: Out of the ten games. I got the last place
- 36:00Speaker 4: one on one and obviously first place on this one.
- 36:03Speaker 5: Yeah, so you're consistent.
- 36:04Speaker 4: Not a big deal. You either win or you lose,
- 36:07Speaker 4: you know.
- 36:07Speaker 5: $ 172. A first, your last.
- 36:12Speaker 6: But LSU, $ 133. That is a big number as well.
- 36:16Speaker 6: Cannot wait to see the scenes around campus tomorrow inside
- 36:20Speaker 6: of the real Death Valley. So, again, the most expensive
- 36:23Speaker 6: ticket in the top 25, Wisconsin, Notre Dame, and Lambeau.
- 36:26Speaker 6: The cheapest ticket, East Carolina at Alabama here coming up
- 36:31Speaker 6: this weekend.
- 36:32Speaker 5: All right.
- 36:33Speaker 4: Do you think there's going to be some niceties tomorrow
- 36:35Speaker 4: between Dabo and Lane?
- 36:36Speaker 5: Niceties. Is that? Did you make that up? Yeah.
- 36:41Speaker 4: You know exactly what I mean, though.
- 36:43Speaker 5: Pleasantries. No, niceties. Yeah.
- 36:45Speaker 6: I mean, even coaches that really don't like each other
- 36:48Speaker 6: give the fluff middle of the game like.
- 36:51Speaker 5: Oh, man, how was training camp for you guys, man? Yeah.
- 36:53Speaker 6: We had a couple rough days there. We had some injuries.
- 36:55Speaker 6: We had some hamstrings, you know. Weren't real good in
- 36:58Speaker 6: the kicking game. We'll see if we got that all
- 37:00Speaker 6: fixed up.
- 37:00Speaker 5: All that. Yeah.
- 37:02Speaker 4: We're going to find out tonight, I guess, you know.
- 37:04Speaker 5: Exactly. Yes.
- 37:05Speaker 4: That will be said 13 times. Dabo doesn't seem like
- 37:08Speaker 4: a group texter, though.
- 37:09Speaker 5: No.
- 37:10Speaker 4: I don't think he's– Well, because he's got an Android.
- 37:11Speaker 4: I don't think he's cool like that.
- 37:12Speaker 5: He's got an Android, no doubt. For sure. All right.
- 37:16Speaker 6: We'll take a break, and when we come back, we're
- 37:18Speaker 6: going to get to a little Ask the Bench brought
- 37:19Speaker 6: to you by– Ice cold Dos Equis, go for Dos.
- 37:24Speaker 6: And also, kind of some real quick final thoughts on
- 37:27Speaker 6: the LSU game.
- 37:27Speaker 5: We'll give our score predictions as.
- 37:29Speaker 6: Well as we always do here on a Football Friday
- 37:31Speaker 6: live from Rouse's.
- 37:33Speaker 5: Off the bench. All right, it is here.
- 37:38Speaker 6: The Second Amendment Tax-Free Weekend is happening now at Bowie Outfitters.
- 37:42Speaker 6: Today through Sunday, firearms, ammo, bows, and qualifying hunting supplies
- 37:47Speaker 6: are tax-free. And Bowie's covering the tax on everything else,
- 37:51Speaker 6: making the entire store tax-free.
- 37:53Speaker 5: Today? Today. Right now. No taxes. Yes.
- 37:59Speaker 6: Bowie has sales going on throughout the store, so you
- 38:02Speaker 6: can take advantage of some of the biggest savings of
- 38:04Speaker 6: the year. Look, 10% is always nice, but as we've
- 38:07Speaker 6: been telling you, keeping that 10% in your pocket, that
- 38:11Speaker 6: just feels a little bit better. Go to Bowie Outfitters
- 38:13Speaker 6: this weekend and take full advantage.
- 38:15Speaker 4: Y'all know, this is Louisiana. We are getting close to
- 38:18Speaker 4: hunting season. It is almost here. If you need to
- 38:21Speaker 4: get that deer camp ready, duck camp, upgrade your gear,
- 38:24Speaker 4: stock up on ammo, finally buy that bow or firearm
- 38:26Speaker 4: you've been looking at, this is the time.
- 38:28Speaker 5: September 4th, 5th, and 6th. Bowie Outfitters.
- 38:30Speaker 4: Tax-free.
- 38:31Speaker 5: BowieOutfitters.com.
- 38:34Speaker 4: 2007 champs.
- 38:35Speaker 1: Purple and gold to the core. This is Off the
- 38:38Speaker 1: Bench with Hester and Flynn. Baton Rouge's go-to for all
- 38:42Speaker 1: things Louisiana sports.
- 38:52Speaker 5: All right, welcome back in OTB.
- 38:56Speaker 6: One final segment here on a football Friday. Do you
- 38:58Speaker 6: have back or spine pain?
- 39:03Speaker 5: What? Nudge, nudge.
- 39:05Speaker 6: It can affect everything if you do work, sleep, exercise,
- 39:07Speaker 6: even just spending time with your family or working, doing
- 39:10Speaker 6: a radio show locally in Baton Rouge. At Ochsner Health,
- 39:13Speaker 6: the goal is to find a source of the pain
- 39:15Speaker 6: and create a treatment plan built specifically for you. And
- 39:19Speaker 6: treatment doesn't always mean surgery. So from physical therapy and
- 39:22Speaker 6: pain management to a couple of minor procedures that can
- 39:26Speaker 6: really help you out, help you live your day, help
- 39:29Speaker 6: you move forward.
- 39:30Speaker 5: And not sit there and be in pain all day long.
- 39:33Speaker 6: Ochsner has options to help you move better, feel better,
- 39:35Speaker 6: and get back to doing things you love. Don't let
- 39:38Speaker 6: back pain control your life. Learn more at Ochsner.org.
- 39:43Speaker 5: Boy, it does, too.
- 39:45Speaker 6: I know it does, and I hear about it every
- 39:47Speaker 6: single day.
- 39:48Speaker 5: My bag, my bag, my bag. Do something about it.
- 39:51Speaker 5: All right.
- 39:52Speaker 6: Before we get to our final thoughts for LSU and
- 39:55Speaker 6: Clemson and give you some score predictions here, a little
- 39:58Speaker 6: Ask the Bench brought to you by Ice Cold Dos Equis.
- 40:03Speaker 5: Hashtag Ask the Bench.
- 40:04Speaker 6: Is this the most you've been fired up for an
- 40:07Speaker 6: opener in a while? And are you happy Moscona was
- 40:10Speaker 6: wrong about BK and he's gone?
- 40:15Speaker 5: That's three questions.
- 40:16Speaker 4: No, it's not the most fired up I've been.
- 40:19Speaker 5: For an opener yeah.
- 40:22Speaker 6: Um yes to all those yes is it i am
- 40:29Speaker 6: more than fired up for the opener i think the
- 40:30Speaker 6: pre-game pop for this game and i said this on
- 40:33Speaker 6: hey fighting podcast with harry uh harrison yesterday i think
- 40:37Speaker 6: it was yesterday god i think it was yesterday anyways
- 40:41Speaker 6: um I think it's going to be the loudest pregame
- 40:44Speaker 6: pop we've ever heard in Tiger Stadium. Now, I didn't
- 40:46Speaker 6: say loudest game. I didn't say loudest moment. There's too
- 40:49Speaker 6: many iconic ones to say that. Pregame pop from when
- 40:53Speaker 6: they announce, like, the things and the team runs out
- 40:55Speaker 6: of the tunnel, and it will be the loudest, I think,
- 40:58Speaker 6: in Tiger Stadium history.
- 40:59Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, that's exciting.
- 41:01Speaker 5: That is awesome.
- 41:02Speaker 4: But just, like, from the actual gameplay, no, because I
- 41:05Speaker 4: think OSU is going to blow them out. Is it
- 41:10Speaker 4: the most exciting? It's kind of like saying this is
- 41:12Speaker 4: the hottest day ever. Like every single opener I'm very
- 41:16Speaker 4: excited for. So to say I'm more excited than any
- 41:20Speaker 4: other opener, no.
- 41:21Speaker 5: What other opener were you more excited about?
- 41:23Speaker 4: I'm excited for every opener.
- 41:25Speaker 5: Okay, well that's. Because it starts football. All right, Switzerland.
- 41:27Speaker 4: We're 10 and a half point favorites.
- 41:29Speaker 6: But there's been ones that have been in neutral sites,
- 41:32Speaker 6: and they've been in Orlando, and they've been in New Orleans,
- 41:34Speaker 6: and they just.
- 41:35Speaker 5: It's in Tiger Stadium.
- 41:36Speaker 4: Yeah, but I'm not going to.
- 41:39Speaker 5: You're what? But I'm not going to be there. That's
- 41:43Speaker 5: on you, Ricky Bobby. That ain't on the rest of us.
- 41:45Speaker 4: I'm just excited to watch some football.
- 41:46Speaker 5: All right. Well, yes, I am more than fired up
- 41:49Speaker 5: for it.
- 41:50Speaker 6: I think the pregame festivities are going to be incredible.
- 41:52Speaker 6: I think that when the team runs out of the tunnel,
- 41:55Speaker 6: it's going to be chills on chills on chills.
- 41:58Speaker 5: Hashtag ask the bench.
- 42:00Speaker 6: How many yards will Sam Levitt throw for against Clemson?
- 42:03Speaker 3: 317.
- 42:05Speaker 5: 317? Yep. All right. What about you? 247.
- 42:17Speaker 6: I think you're going to run.
- 42:20Speaker 5: The football, too. Look, when I tell y'all that.
- 42:23Speaker 4: I believe that LSU is going to run away with
- 42:25Speaker 4: this game, I mean it. Clemson is not, there's no
- 42:30Speaker 4: way to prepare for what LSU is about to throw
- 42:33Speaker 4: at them offensively.
- 42:34Speaker 5: You pair that.
- 42:35Speaker 4: With a defense that is consistent, has a lot of
- 42:38Speaker 4: carryover from last year when they were really good, when
- 42:41Speaker 4: you have better pass rushers for our defense, I just
- 42:44Speaker 4: don't think that Clemson has the talent to keep up
- 42:47Speaker 4: with it. LSU, I think, was going to have to
- 42:49Speaker 4: play very sloppy in order to keep this a game,
- 42:52Speaker 4: and I don't think that's going to happen.
- 42:56Speaker 6: At Tiger Time, he's a Clemson fan, says, cheaters going
- 42:59Speaker 6: down in all caps.
- 43:00Speaker 5: Probably learned that from you, Flynn. What? The all caps. Oh, yeah,
- 43:04Speaker 5: for sure. That is stupid homers.
- 43:09Speaker 6: Golly, you woke up at 9.52 to find an LSU-themed show,
- 43:14Speaker 6: logged into their chat just to comment.
- 43:19Speaker 4: He took a green monster emoji.
- 43:23Speaker 5: Yeah. It's good, though. I like it. I respect. We
- 43:25Speaker 5: invite everybody into the chat.
- 43:27Speaker 6: It's not really a homer if Vegas says you're a
- 43:29Speaker 6: favorite and us saying LSU is a favorite in the game.
- 43:32Speaker 4: Even though they will win by 20. I'm going to
- 43:35Speaker 4: take the alternate line at 19.5. I think it's plus 240.
- 43:37Speaker 1: Any who's.
- 43:37Speaker 5: Yeah, that's what I'm doing.
- 43:40Speaker 4: That's what I'm doing on my Saturday.
- 43:45Speaker 5: Ask. Let me see if I can make sure I
- 43:48Speaker 5: say this one right.
- 43:49Speaker 6: Will blank I'm from Louisiana finally be played again for
- 43:53Speaker 6: kickoffs if they want it to be?
- 43:55Speaker 5: Sure. Yeah. Did I see something about neck? I don't
- 44:02Speaker 5: think anything's off the table at this point.
- 44:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 44:06Speaker 5: I think all things are ready to go. Pay the fine.
- 44:09Speaker 5: Let's just roll with it. There's not really a fine.
- 44:11Speaker 6: I remember I asked the, uh, athletic director at the
- 44:14Speaker 6: time because I was sitting with, it was me, Burrow
- 44:16Speaker 6: and Clyde when LSU beat.
- 44:19Speaker 5: A & M in 2019. And they were like, Hey, like,
- 44:22Speaker 5: can we pay the fine? Can we play it? Blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 44:24Speaker 5: And they was like, there's not really a fine. We
- 44:25Speaker 5: just say that. So we don't have to play it. Yeah.
- 44:27Speaker 4: Oh, got it.
- 44:28Speaker 1: Got it.
- 44:29Speaker 4: Unless it's changed. That was seven years ago. Like just
- 44:31Speaker 4: from a band standpoint, it sounds like a fun piece
- 44:34Speaker 4: of music to play. Yeah.
- 44:35Speaker 5: Um, That'd be fun. That'd be exciting. It'd be exciting
- 44:39Speaker 5: for the people. All right. Let's go back. I was
- 44:41Speaker 5: going to say it.
- 44:41Speaker 6: Let's go back to studio. Alondra, I see your score prediction.
- 44:46Speaker 6: Bring it to the air. What do you have and
- 44:48Speaker 6: how do you see it going in Tiger Stadium?
- 44:50Speaker 3: Okay, I'm just going to read off of what I
- 44:52Speaker 3: sent Hunt because he asked during the station survey. So
- 44:56Speaker 3: my score prediction is LSU 34, Clemson 14. I think
- 45:00Speaker 3: there's a lot of new on both sides, but I
- 45:02Speaker 3: think that LSU's new is infinitely more talented than Clemson's is.
- 45:07Speaker 3: Saturday night in the real Death Valley. Sorry, that threw
- 45:11Speaker 3: me off. It's a Lane Kiffin offense, a Blake Baker defense.
- 45:14Speaker 3: Lights will be way too bright for old Dabo Sweeney,
- 45:17Speaker 3: and LSU gets it done.
- 45:21Speaker 7: Yeah, I'm in a similar boat. I'm going to go
- 45:24Speaker 7: 38-13 Tigers. The good guys, the good Tigers, of course.
- 45:27Speaker 7: I think Lane Kiffin pairing that with Blake Baker, it's
- 45:29Speaker 7: going to be too much for Dabo. I think LSU
- 45:32Speaker 7: gets this done easily.
- 45:35Speaker 5: All right. This is what I sent to Hunt.
- 45:37Speaker 6: I think Clemson hangs around early, but I think eventually
- 45:40Speaker 6: the environment, LSU's speed, and the pressure on a quarterback
- 45:43Speaker 6: making his second career start becomes too much. I think
- 45:46Speaker 6: LSU pulls away in the second half, and Lane Kiffin
- 45:48Speaker 6: starts the Baton Rouge era 1-0.
- 45:52Speaker 5: Tigers by two touchdowns, 31-17. I like it.
- 45:57Speaker 6: You've got 30 seconds to tell us what you like.
- 46:00Speaker 4: Yeah, I think it's 37-17. Clemson returns a few guys
- 46:03Speaker 4: on defense. Great job, Dabo. Tip of the cap to you.
- 46:05Speaker 4: It's not going to matter.
- 46:06Speaker 5: LSU will operate fast. They'll be in better shape, and they'll.
- 46:08Speaker 4: Overwhelm Clemson's defense with the speed in which they operate.
- 46:12Speaker 5: It won't be perfect. There'll be mistakes made, but guess what?
- 46:14Speaker 5: It doesn't matter.
- 46:15Speaker 4: When the dust settles on Saturday night at Tiger Stadium
- 46:18Speaker 4: in Death Valley. Tigers will have 20 more points than Clemson.
- 46:21Speaker 5: All right, that is going to do it for us.
- 46:23Speaker 6: Stay locked into the station all day long for Football Friday.
- 46:26Speaker 6: For LSU, it's three letters, it's two colors, and it's
- 46:28Speaker 6: an ass-whooping coming on Saturday night in Tiger Stadium.
- 46:32Speaker 5: Off the bench. Hey, we're at Rouse's. Yeah, we are.
