- 1:27Speaker 1: And also that's where you join the Patreon.
- 1:29Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Drake, not my son, Drake, the singer I talked about
- 1:33Speaker 1: on the last episode, how there's a rap battle thing
- 1:36Speaker 1: going on with Kendrick Lamar and that they're dissing each
- 1:41Speaker 1: other and saying things about each other in their different
- 1:44Speaker 1: songs that are not flattering and accusatory. They're saying, you know,
- 1:48Speaker 1: Drake is likes younger women and and things like that
- 1:52Speaker 1: and it just it's a it goes back and forth
- 1:55Speaker 1: and there's a lot to the songs but here's the
- 1:58Speaker 1: latest juicy part which is scary i hope this guy
- 2:01Speaker 1: is okay but there was a man part of his
- 2:03Speaker 1: security team who was shot like right near his house
- 2:06Speaker 1: they think in toronto they think this is in front
- 2:09Speaker 1: of drake's house they think that it is that it
- 2:12Speaker 1: was a drive-by the police that are investigating it are
- 2:15Speaker 1: aware of the kendrick lamar rap battle thing and So
- 2:19Speaker 1: we don't know if he's involved at all, if this
- 2:23Speaker 1: is a crazy fan, if this is maybe they were
- 2:26Speaker 1: actually really just trying to get the security guard. Maybe
- 2:28Speaker 1: he has a beef of his own or something, or
- 2:31Speaker 1: maybe it was random. Maybe who, we don't know yet.
- 2:34Speaker 1: But the guy was shot in the chest. He is
- 2:38Speaker 1: in the hospital, and I hope that he's okay. But
- 2:40Speaker 1: that is insane that that just happened. Update on the
- 2:44Speaker 1: very sad and mysterious death of this pastor's wife. named
- 2:48Speaker 1: Micah Miller. JP is the pastor, and the church has
- 2:53Speaker 1: cut ties with him as of yet. However, the latest news,
- 2:58Speaker 1: he said, my wife had died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
- 3:06Speaker 1: There was a lot of controversy, a lot of things
- 3:09Speaker 1: about it that didn't seem right. She has shared information
- 3:14Speaker 1: with others. There is a supposed diary slash binder of
- 3:18Speaker 1: all the abuse that she endured by him. We also
- 3:22Speaker 1: found out that prior to marrying her, he was married
- 3:24Speaker 1: to a woman with five children who then he left
- 3:28Speaker 1: her for, but he met her when she was only 14.
- 3:32Speaker 1: So there's an element of grooming. She still was, you know,
- 3:36Speaker 1: quite religious in her videos and stuff that she shared.
- 3:39Speaker 1: She did study, suffer from some level of mental illness.
- 3:43Speaker 1: She did spend a time in a mental hospital. She
- 3:47Speaker 1: did believe that he was stalking her. She did try
- 3:49Speaker 1: to get a straining order against him. There was so
- 3:53Speaker 1: much stuff that made the death of suicide questionable. And
- 4:00Speaker 1: then there was stories saying, oh, the shot was from
- 4:02Speaker 1: the back of the head. How could she kill herself? Well,
- 4:04Speaker 1: today the news did come out from the authorities in
- 4:08Speaker 1: this town, which is Robinson County is where this happened.
- 4:16Speaker 1: And they are saying it was self-inflicted. But now there's
- 4:19Speaker 1: information saying that this county is, there's a lot of
- 4:24Speaker 1: alleged corruption happening there. And maybe this isn't all true.
- 4:27Speaker 1: But Regardless, this guy is coming off really weird and awful.
- 4:34Speaker 1: And now all of his sermons are like available online.
- 4:37Speaker 1: A lot of people have posted them because he was
- 4:40Speaker 1: always filming them and streaming them because he's like this
- 4:42Speaker 1: young preacher. And he had this girl that people said, oh,
- 4:46Speaker 1: we don't. She said, oh, I'm not his girlfriend. Well,
- 4:51Speaker 1: she's also a widow, this girl. And her name is Susie.
- 4:56Speaker 1: Susie Skinner. And her husband has died as well. And
- 5:03Speaker 1: he married them. JP married the two of them. And
- 5:07Speaker 1: then he died. And now they are supposedly together. And
- 5:11Speaker 1: the way her husband died was he was a paraplegic
- 5:16Speaker 1: or quadriplegic. And he was in a wheelchair. And somehow
- 5:20Speaker 1: he fell in a pool and drowned. And then JP,
- 5:25Speaker 1: the pastor, gave the... eulogy for it and ran the service.
- 5:32Speaker 1: And that whole thing was odd. He's like, I'm so
- 5:34Speaker 1: excited to be here. And the video is almost like
- 5:37Speaker 1: he's toasting him at a birthday party, not really celebrating
- 5:40Speaker 1: his life. So it's very, very suspicious, lots of suspicious
- 5:43Speaker 1: things about this. And this final bit of information saying, yes,
- 5:47Speaker 1: in fact, it was a self-inflicted gunshot wound. We don't
- 5:51Speaker 1: know if that'll make the story end or if more
- 5:53Speaker 1: will come out about this guy in general. But That's
- 5:58Speaker 1: where that is, so I want to give an update
- 6:00Speaker 1: on that. Okay, and now for our very juicy interview
- 6:03Speaker 1: with a Hollywood legend. Hello, and welcome to Juicy Scoop.
- 6:07Speaker 1: Very excited to have a first-time guest. Multi, multi, oh
- 6:12Speaker 1: my God, won so many SAG Awards, Emmys, Golden Globes.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Best known from Will and Grace, but so many other things.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Megan Mullally, welcome to Juicy Scoop.
- 6:23Speaker 3: First but not last time on the show.
- 6:27Speaker 1: I love your hair.
- 6:28Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 6:29Speaker 1: And it's so funny because you have such a youthful, young,
- 6:35Speaker 1: hip way about you. But when you were doing the
- 6:37Speaker 1: show 20 years ago, it was like you were such
- 6:40Speaker 1: an older acting late. It's weird. When I look at
- 6:44Speaker 1: other things that you're in, I'm like... People must not
- 6:47Speaker 1: even really recognize you that much when you're out. Because
- 6:51Speaker 1: it was such a different look.
- 6:52Speaker 3: No, it's funny. Like, Nick always gets recognized. Because for men, too, there's, like.
- 6:57Speaker 1: Nowhere to run. Your husband of how many years? Remind everybody.
- 7:00Speaker 3: Almost 25. Nick Offerman.
- 7:02Speaker 1: Yes. Yes.
- 7:03Speaker 3: So he gets recognized because, you know, when you're a guy,
- 7:05Speaker 3: it's like, that's kind of what it is.
- 7:07Speaker 1: He has a distinct look.
- 7:08Speaker 3: But no, I don't get recognized. But if I start talking,
- 7:10Speaker 3: then I sometimes do.
- 7:12Speaker 1: But I also feel like your character... From Will and
- 7:16Speaker 1: Grace that you were Karen. Karen, what a name. But
- 7:21Speaker 1: was your voice, did you, okay, let's talk about how
- 7:24Speaker 1: you got the job and how you created. First of all,
- 7:26Speaker 1: the look thing.
- 7:27Speaker 3: Yeah, that's interesting because.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Did you come up with that yourself in reading the
- 7:30Speaker 1: character or what?
- 7:31Speaker 3: No, that was more their thing. But I don't, you know,
- 7:35Speaker 3: I don't dress like that. I've never dressed like that.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Right, that's what I think is.
- 7:38Speaker 3: That is exactly the way my mom dressed pretty much though.
- 7:41Speaker 3: Like very Nancy Reagan, very Gloria Vanderbilt, you know.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Yeah. But.
- 7:45Speaker 3: On a budget but you'd never know it and um
- 7:48Speaker 3: I never did that and then of course the hair
- 7:50Speaker 3: and all that is not the way it's just not
- 7:52Speaker 3: my thing like I don't even wear makeup in real
- 7:55Speaker 3: life and so yeah they would always say at the
- 7:58Speaker 3: end of the season like do you want to buy
- 8:00Speaker 3: any of the clothes I was like nope like are
- 8:02Speaker 3: you sure all these gorgeous you know designer things I
- 8:05Speaker 3: was like.
- 8:05Speaker 1: No So your background was, you know, I saw that
- 8:10Speaker 1: you were a ballerina and then got into acting. And,
- 8:14Speaker 1: of course, you got a ton of guest roles before
- 8:17Speaker 1: this killer role of Will and Grace. And I also
- 8:21Speaker 1: read that you were up for Elaine in Seinfeld and
- 8:24Speaker 1: tested for that.
- 8:25Speaker 2: Yes.
- 8:26Speaker 1: So what– I know what it's like to come to
- 8:29Speaker 1: the– what testing means is it's like you and two
- 8:32Speaker 1: other people and they do your contract and– And what's
- 8:36Speaker 1: so heartbreaking about it is before you do the test,
- 8:39Speaker 1: you have to do the contract. So you have these
- 8:42Speaker 1: calls with your agents where they're like, and then in
- 8:44Speaker 1: year five, you'll get this much. You're like, why are
- 8:47Speaker 1: we even doing this? I might not get it. I know.
- 8:51Speaker 1: It's horrible.
- 8:51Speaker 3: It's really, yeah, it's torture. But it's funny because I
- 8:55Speaker 3: actually went to college with Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
- 8:58Speaker 1: She's so great.
- 8:58Speaker 3: She's great. And so I still know her and everything.
- 9:02Speaker 3: She's amazing. Yeah. Yes, I was up for that.
- 9:04Speaker 1: And now when you said you went to college with
- 9:06Speaker 1: her and you see people when you go on auditions,
- 9:09Speaker 1: because I always remember this, too. And there was a
- 9:11Speaker 1: weird part of me that I wish I wasn't like
- 9:14Speaker 1: this back then. But I was where you're like, happy
- 9:17Speaker 1: to see your friend, but you're not happy to see
- 9:19Speaker 1: your friend. You know what I mean? You're like, oh,
- 9:22Speaker 1: and there's always that conversation between everybody. And one person's
- 9:25Speaker 1: you know, what always got me crazy is the girl
- 9:27Speaker 1: that would be reading a full book before she's about
- 9:30Speaker 1: to go in. She's not looking at her sides. And
- 9:32Speaker 1: I'm like, that must be a psych thing where it's like,
- 9:36Speaker 1: I'm not even going to let this bother me. I'm
- 9:38Speaker 1: in chapter four. I am so ready.
- 9:40Speaker 3: Isn't that weird?
- 9:41Speaker 1: And then there's the girls that spend the entire prep
- 9:43Speaker 1: time catching up.
- 9:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:46Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Like they're not ready at all. Yeah. I know.
- 9:49Speaker 3: No, but, you know, I didn't see Julia there because
- 9:51Speaker 3: I think that what happened was there were a couple
- 9:53Speaker 3: of us that were going to test and then they
- 9:55Speaker 3: ended up offering it to her because she had just
- 9:57Speaker 3: done a show. Yeah. I think for this I guess
- 10:01Speaker 3: it was that was NBC right yeah so she just
- 10:04Speaker 3: done some other show and they were just like oh
- 10:06Speaker 3: let's just offer it to her yeah a known quantity
- 10:09Speaker 3: yeah now.
- 10:10Speaker 1: How much time between that that show starting and Will
- 10:13Speaker 1: and Grace was there don't.
- 10:15Speaker 3: Know Will and Grace started in 1998 and I'm not
- 10:18Speaker 3: sure what year because I think it was definitely.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Like two like 91 92 I think it was I
- 10:24Speaker 1: think it was definitely before.
- 10:26Speaker 3: 92 yeah I think it was like or maybe it
- 10:29Speaker 3: was around there yeah yeah so it was a while
- 10:31Speaker 3: but I had done you know like a few shows
- 10:34Speaker 3: that never went anywhere that like 13 episodes or something
- 10:37Speaker 3: and then I had gone to New York to do
- 10:41Speaker 3: a couple of musicals I did A Revival of Grease
- 10:45Speaker 3: in 94. And then I did this.
- 10:46Speaker 1: What did you play?
- 10:47Speaker 3: I played Marty, who sings Freddie, My Love. Oh.
- 10:51Speaker 1: So now are you. And then I did How to Succeed.
- 10:54Speaker 3: And that was kind of a big break for me
- 10:56Speaker 3: because it was the female lead opposite Matthew Broderick. And
- 10:59Speaker 3: it was a good production. And then from there, I
- 11:02Speaker 3: kind of, I would do it.
- 11:03Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 11:04Speaker 3: Yeah. From there, that kind of led to Will and Grace.
- 11:06Speaker 1: So did you consider yourself a singer or just musical theater?
- 11:10Speaker 1: Like what was your singing background?
- 11:12Speaker 3: I think singing is really my best thing or it was. Yeah.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:15Speaker 3: It was always kind of my best thing. And, you know,
- 11:18Speaker 3: I should have probably moved to New York after college
- 11:23Speaker 3: and auditioned for, you know, Broadway shows. But I was
- 11:27Speaker 3: dating this guy. In Chicago. And he said— Wait, where
- 11:31Speaker 3: did you go to college again? Northwestern.
- 11:32Speaker 1: Oh, that's right.
- 11:33Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 11:33Speaker 3: And then I did theater in Chicago for a few years.
- 11:36Speaker 3: And then he said, well, let's just go to Los
- 11:38Speaker 3: Angeles and see what that's like. And then we'll go
- 11:40Speaker 3: to New York.
- 11:41Speaker 1: Because he's an actor, too. He was an actor, too.
- 11:42Speaker 5: Uh-huh.
- 11:43Speaker 3: And then he left me in Los Angeles after two weeks.
- 11:47Speaker 3: And so then I ended up— I got an agent right away,
- 11:52Speaker 3: and I got all these auditions. And I was like, well,
- 11:54Speaker 3: I guess I'll just stay. And so I did.
- 11:56Speaker 1: So when he left, you mean he broke up with
- 11:58Speaker 1: you or he left L.A. after two weeks?
- 12:00Speaker 3: He did not break up with me for about two years,
- 12:05Speaker 3: during which time he refused to have sex with me.
- 12:08Speaker 3: So finally I had to kind of, you know, take
- 12:11Speaker 3: matters into my own hands.
- 12:13Speaker 1: Literally? Yeah.
- 12:14Speaker 3: Well, I was doing that, yeah.
- 12:18Speaker 1: Wait, so what was the deal? Is he very true
- 12:21Speaker 1: a lovely man today or what is going on?
- 12:23Speaker 3: He was very close to his parents and his family.
- 12:26Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 12:26Speaker 1: Do you know where he is today?
- 12:29Speaker 3: Yes. He lives somewhere in like the Pasadena area and
- 12:34Speaker 3: he's married. To a woman? To a woman. And I think,
- 12:39Speaker 3: you know, very happily married. He's a really nice guy.
- 12:41Speaker 1: He really is.
- 12:43Speaker 3: But that particular, that might not have been his finest moment.
- 12:48Speaker 1: But now, then when you, you know, become a household
- 12:50Speaker 1: name and everything, did you ever hear from him? Do
- 12:53Speaker 1: you think he was, like, watching your episodes with his?
- 12:56Speaker 3: I talked to him. We got back in touch maybe
- 13:00Speaker 3: about five years ago. And his wife actually came to
- 13:04Speaker 3: see me and something. And we started talking. And then
- 13:07Speaker 3: I started texting with him. And then we did talk
- 13:11Speaker 3: on the phone once.
- 13:12Speaker 1: So the wife, like, came to your show and you
- 13:14Speaker 1: gave her, like, green room pass to say hello?
- 13:17Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 13:18Speaker 3: Yeah. And she was really great.
- 13:18Speaker 1: Oh, so you were like, fine. Yeah.
- 13:20Speaker 3: She was really nice. I mean, it's been like 157 years.
- 13:23Speaker 3: So yeah.
- 13:24Speaker 1: I tried to get in touch with my old boyfriend.
- 13:26Speaker 1: You did? Yeah.
- 13:29Speaker 3: From how long ago?
- 13:30Speaker 1: You know what's so weird about it now?
- 13:33Speaker 4: Okay.
- 13:33Speaker 1: So I have two boys and they're 21 and 18.
- 13:39Speaker 1: And I know that you guys don't have kids. And
- 13:42Speaker 1: I think that is so wonderful that that is becoming...
- 13:47Speaker 1: A normal thing always should have been normal. One of
- 13:51Speaker 1: the nicest things someone said to me is that my
- 13:53Speaker 1: friend who got married since got divorced, but she always
- 13:56Speaker 1: was like, I'm childless by choice. I just don't see
- 13:59Speaker 1: it in my future. And I'm like, oh, my God,
- 14:00Speaker 1: that's so great, whatever. And one day she goes, do
- 14:02Speaker 1: you know you're like the only person that didn't challenge
- 14:04Speaker 1: me on it? And I'm like, probably because I have them.
- 14:07Speaker 1: Like probably because I realized like if you're not dying
- 14:10Speaker 1: to have them, then you shouldn't have them and you
- 14:12Speaker 1: can have such a full, fabulous life and such a
- 14:15Speaker 1: life of non-worry because I was thinking– So just earlier today,
- 14:18Speaker 1: my son, he's so responsible and so great. And he
- 14:22Speaker 1: was not answering his phone. And he helps cut some
- 14:25Speaker 1: clips and stuff for me for social media. And he's
- 14:28Speaker 1: in Arizona. He's supposed to come out tomorrow because he
- 14:30Speaker 1: just finished his third year of ASU. And, you know,
- 14:35Speaker 1: after one hour, I was kind of like, oh, my God,
- 14:39Speaker 1: like this is it. He's gone.
- 14:42Speaker 3: He's died.
- 14:43Speaker 1: Like, I mean, then you go to these things and
- 14:45Speaker 1: I just go. And so then my other son, who's 18,
- 14:48Speaker 1: I'm like, do you have... I didn't realize I didn't
- 14:52Speaker 1: have the location because my husband has it. So I
- 14:54Speaker 1: just always ask and he'll go, oh, Drake's an hour away, whatever.
- 14:56Speaker 1: But I never did that on my phone. And I
- 14:58Speaker 1: kind of don't want to do it because I think
- 14:59Speaker 1: it can make some moms crazy. But I'm like, Brandon,
- 15:02Speaker 1: I just want you to know that like you better
- 15:04Speaker 1: always have your phone charged. And if I ask, if
- 15:06Speaker 1: I call you, it's a proof of life. You just
- 15:08Speaker 1: have to say I'm in class or whatever. Just you
- 15:10Speaker 1: don't have to call me back that day. It's because
- 15:12Speaker 1: I'm having a weird feeling that. Anyway, he was asleep,
- 15:15Speaker 1: but his phone died. It was not a big deal,
- 15:17Speaker 1: but like, ugh.
- 15:18Speaker 3: I know, I know. I'm kind of like that with Nick.
- 15:21Speaker 1: A little bit, too, though. You get nervous about him.
- 15:23Speaker 5: Mm-hmm.
- 15:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:24Speaker 1: I do, yeah. Well, everyone has some people in their life.
- 15:26Speaker 1: And because of the phone, before the phone... I know.
- 15:30Speaker 1: You wouldn't hear from someone for a day, and you're like, oh,
- 15:32Speaker 1: they just have to get back to their answering machine.
- 15:34Speaker 1: But because there's a phone now, you don't hear back
- 15:35Speaker 1: from someone for 15 minutes, and you're like, well, they're dead,
- 15:38Speaker 1: and what will I wear to the funeral?
- 15:40Speaker 3: It's so true.
- 15:41Speaker 1: It's just like the worst. It's so true.
- 15:43Speaker 4: I'm Darman, and this is What Happens Next. Each week
- 15:46Speaker 4: on the show, I sit down with extraordinary people who
- 15:49Speaker 4: have faced tremendous setbacks. and yet somehow have found a
- 15:54Speaker 4: way to turn them into their greatest strengths.
- 15:56Speaker 3: Life is one long lesson of chaos.
- 15:59Speaker 1: I'm heading to the Emmys and I have police complaints
- 16:02Speaker 1: filed against me.
- 16:03Speaker 5: When your free will was about to be taken from you,
- 16:05Speaker 5: what would you do if it was given back?
- 16:08Speaker 2: Where did that need come from where you thought that
- 16:10Speaker 2: you had to succeed in order to feel loved?
- 16:13Speaker 1: He said, I have a work debt.
- 16:14Speaker 4: I need a home debt.
- 16:15Speaker 2: What happens next?
- 16:16Speaker 1: When I came in, he started crying.
- 16:18Speaker 2: Everybody in life encounters hardships. What defines them is not
- 16:22Speaker 2: those hard moments that they go through. It's about what
- 16:25Speaker 2: happens next.
- 16:26Speaker 1: I decided to risk it all. I realized how valuable
- 16:29Speaker 1: every day was.
- 16:29Speaker 3: You're worth the work.
- 16:30Speaker 5: Listen, Dara, I'm not going to pull punches.
- 16:33Speaker 1: You can use your voice even if it's shaped.
- 16:35Speaker 4: The stories are different, but the impact is the same.
- 16:38Speaker 4: Only one question matters. What happens next?
- 16:48Speaker 3: But you know what you said about not having kids?
- 16:50Speaker 3: I mean, that's really true. I used to say that
- 16:55Speaker 3: it was the last taboo to not have children because
- 16:58Speaker 3: nobody does it. Nobody did it, certainly from my generation.
- 17:04Speaker 3: And now, like you said, it's getting more and more common.
- 17:09Speaker 3: But I was just saying to somebody yesterday how so
- 17:12Speaker 3: many of my friends are so– Like they love their kids.
- 17:19Speaker 3: And I'm talking about really good mothers and the whole
- 17:22Speaker 3: thing who just be like, oh, you know, they just
- 17:24Speaker 3: and their kids are like grown or almost grown. And
- 17:27Speaker 3: they're like, oh, God, you're so lucky you didn't do it.
- 17:32Speaker 3: So it is interesting.
- 17:33Speaker 1: I mean, I think everybody it all works out the
- 17:36Speaker 1: way it's supposed to work out. But I always say
- 17:38Speaker 1: it's the worry. Like when someone goes, will I regret
- 17:42Speaker 1: it if I don't have children? So like I've sometimes
- 17:44Speaker 1: feel girls come up to me like, I don't know
- 17:46Speaker 1: if I have that urge and You know, and I say, hey, listen,
- 17:50Speaker 1: you know, if you're happy and you want to go
- 17:53Speaker 1: off birth control and it happens, then great. But also
- 17:56Speaker 1: you're in that great place that if it doesn't happen,
- 17:58Speaker 1: you're not going to go to the umpth degree and
- 18:00Speaker 1: be heartbroken and all that because you don't care that much.
- 18:03Speaker 1: So just like kind of put it out there. And
- 18:04Speaker 1: if it doesn't work out, then how great for you
- 18:06Speaker 1: if you know what I mean? Yeah.
- 18:07Speaker 3: And I think also if you're in a place financially
- 18:10Speaker 3: where you can't afford to do all that, to, you know,
- 18:14Speaker 3: have your own life and feel like you're able to
- 18:17Speaker 3: be creative and stuff, then that could make you a
- 18:19Speaker 3: lot more resentful. I did read a study years ago,
- 18:22Speaker 3: this is probably 10 years ago, that's like some crazy statistic,
- 18:27Speaker 3: like 78% of women who had kids said they wish
- 18:30Speaker 3: they hadn't had them.
- 18:31Speaker 1: Oh, really?
- 18:32Speaker 3: And I sound like I'm anti having children.
- 18:35Speaker 1: I'm not.
- 18:35Speaker 3: I'm just kind of to your point saying like, I
- 18:38Speaker 3: just never had an organic you know, burning desire to
- 18:43Speaker 3: have children.
- 18:44Speaker 1: I think that's really interesting. And it's what people don't
- 18:46Speaker 1: talk about because it's like, I had a, such a
- 18:50Speaker 1: burning desire and like knew that I was like, I
- 18:53Speaker 1: remember one time I was like, I was like 26
- 18:56Speaker 1: or 27 and I wasn't in a relationship. And I
- 18:57Speaker 1: was like, well, even if I'm, cause I used to
- 19:01Speaker 1: come home and like turn on the TV and whatever,
- 19:03Speaker 1: watch like an old rerun of Jerry's, you know, Jerry Springer.
- 19:07Speaker 1: And I was like, you know, even if I'm by myself,
- 19:09Speaker 1: like I'm going to have, I'm going to be a mom.
- 19:11Speaker 1: Like I just was like, I will have, I just,
- 19:13Speaker 1: from the moment I was little, it was like baby dolls.
- 19:16Speaker 1: Like I was very into wanting that experience. So for me,
- 19:19Speaker 1: I would have made it happen. And then for other
- 19:22Speaker 1: people that struggle with it, my sister was struggling with
- 19:26Speaker 1: fertility and she had a friend who had no desire
- 19:28Speaker 1: to have kids. And I said, does it make you
- 19:31Speaker 1: envious of her? And she goes, yes, you know, because
- 19:35Speaker 1: she's very happy in her marriage and it's nothing that
- 19:37Speaker 1: either of them wanted. And she never had to go
- 19:40Speaker 1: through the journey of wanting it and not being successful
- 19:44Speaker 1: at it or whatever. You know, it's just but no,
- 19:48Speaker 1: I think it's it's so interesting. and so great that,
- 19:51Speaker 1: you know, people need to really tap into what they
- 19:54Speaker 1: want in life.
- 19:54Speaker 3: My mom wanted to have literally 10 children. Like she
- 19:58Speaker 3: would have been happy having 10 children.
- 19:59Speaker 1: How many did she have?
- 20:00Speaker 3: Just me.
- 20:01Speaker 1: And she, she couldn't get pregnant.
- 20:02Speaker 3: She had a lot of miscarriages. She, so she couldn't
- 20:05Speaker 3: get pregnant for many, many years. And then she had
- 20:08Speaker 3: me and then she had a, A lot of miscarriages.
- 20:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 20:11Speaker 3: But, you know, then I got the fall.
- 20:13Speaker 1: So did she ever give you any pressure to have kids?
- 20:16Speaker 3: Well, I think she would have been thrilled if I
- 20:20Speaker 3: had a child. But, you know, the other thing is
- 20:22Speaker 3: I never– you know, I was 41 when I met Nick.
- 20:26Speaker 1: Right. And he's a little younger than.
- 20:28Speaker 4: You, right?
- 20:29Speaker 3: He's more than a little younger. He's almost 12 years younger.
- 20:33Speaker 1: Nice.
- 20:33Speaker 2: Hot.
- 20:34Speaker 3: And– the cast of Will and Grace was on Oprah
- 20:38Speaker 3: once and she said, he's younger. And I said, yeah,
- 20:41Speaker 3: 11 and a half. She goes 11 and a half.
- 20:45Speaker 3: So now I say 12. I was really like humiliated,
- 20:49Speaker 3: publicly humiliated by Oprah. Um, so anyway, yes. So I,
- 20:55Speaker 3: I was a little, it was a little late in
- 20:57Speaker 3: the day for me to have kids. Although I have
- 20:59Speaker 3: to say we did try, uh, kind of the old
- 21:03Speaker 3: fashioned way for You know, like a year or so,
- 21:06Speaker 3: but it just wasn't meant to be. You know, we
- 21:09Speaker 3: both have been so busy and everything that I think Nick,
- 21:12Speaker 3: who probably, if he'd met and married somebody else, would
- 21:16Speaker 3: have had kids, you know? He was never, like, I
- 21:21Speaker 3: think he, it went that far. Like, but he wasn't, like,
- 21:25Speaker 3: absolutely drunk. dead set on having children. And so he
- 21:29Speaker 3: has never been like traumatized about not having children either.
- 21:32Speaker 1: I think, and I think this is something that not
- 21:35Speaker 1: a lot of people say either. I think most guys wouldn't,
- 21:41Speaker 1: I think it's really rare that that's the thing that
- 21:44Speaker 1: makes the guy say no to a woman. Like leaves
- 21:48Speaker 1: her while they're married or, oh, we got this close
- 21:51Speaker 1: and found out you didn't want to have kids. I'm out.
- 21:53Speaker 1: Most guys, because they're not the ones carrying it or whatever.
- 21:56Speaker 1: They can be a great father. It's just a different
- 21:59Speaker 1: thing where a woman, if she really wants to have
- 22:01Speaker 1: a child and a guy is like, absolutely not. Either
- 22:04Speaker 1: she's like, well, I'll change him, which is a horrible idea. Yeah.
- 22:08Speaker 1: Or she is like, well, then goodbye, because I really
- 22:11Speaker 1: want to have that kid. Or sometimes when a woman
- 22:13Speaker 1: marries an older guy and they're like the second wife,
- 22:15Speaker 1: they'll say, oh, I don't want him. And then they
- 22:17Speaker 1: have And then they make sure, well, you better give
- 22:19Speaker 1: me one or I'm leaving. And then the guy's like, God,
- 22:21Speaker 1: I didn't know I was going to have a baby
- 22:23Speaker 1: at 53, you know? Well, you know, so it's like
- 22:25Speaker 1: good that everyone's like kind of on the same page
- 22:28Speaker 1: and then there's enough there that whatever happens. But the
- 22:31Speaker 1: whole reason I got on this was not to talk
- 22:33Speaker 1: about all this, but I was going to say, so
- 22:35Speaker 1: looking now that my boys are older, it's such a
- 22:39Speaker 1: weird perspective to understand like when you're in high school
- 22:43Speaker 1: and you're a girl and you're like a boy or
- 22:45Speaker 1: post-college or whatever, like, oh, I wonder what they're thinking
- 22:49Speaker 1: and dah, dah, dah. And now that I have the boys,
- 22:52Speaker 1: I'm like, when I tried to find this old boyfriend
- 22:54Speaker 1: of mine and he was like, oh, hey, how are you?
- 22:58Speaker 1: And I wanted to talk to him more because I
- 23:00Speaker 1: just wanted to know what was going on in his life.
- 23:03Speaker 1: And he was like, I don't know why you're trying
- 23:06Speaker 1: to get a hold of me. Like, we dated when
- 23:08Speaker 1: you were 30 years ago. Like, he was a little
- 23:10Speaker 1: bit rude. But he wasn't rude. He was right. Like,
- 23:12Speaker 1: I broke his heart.
- 23:13Speaker 3: Oh, you broke his heart.
- 23:15Speaker 1: I broke his heart. And then I was like, hey,
- 23:17Speaker 1: it's me again. Like, and I'm married. And I have
- 23:20Speaker 1: no intention of, like. fucking you I just kind of
- 23:22Speaker 1: wanted to like figure out what you were like I
- 23:25Speaker 1: was just curious because you weren't anywhere on social media
- 23:28Speaker 1: we found I had someone do some research he wasn't
- 23:30Speaker 1: married and I was just kind of like oh my
- 23:32Speaker 1: god we did have such a fun time I just
- 23:34Speaker 1: didn't want a serious boyfriend at that time but I
- 23:37Speaker 1: also like completely broke your heart and now that I
- 23:39Speaker 1: have boys that age if some girl did that to
- 23:42Speaker 1: them I would be like fuck that bitch like it's
- 23:45Speaker 1: so weird What's so weird when you start raising boys,
- 23:49Speaker 1: because for your whole life as a girl, you're like,
- 23:52Speaker 1: you know, your girls are like, kick him to the
- 23:54Speaker 1: curb and fuck him. And then when you have them.
- 23:57Speaker 2: You're like, what did that bitch.
- 23:58Speaker 4: Say to you?
- 23:59Speaker 1: It's like a completely different thing. And I'm like, of
- 24:03Speaker 1: course he didn't want it. Why would he want to
- 24:04Speaker 1: deal with me? And I'm a comedian. He's like, I
- 24:07Speaker 1: don't need you to fucking put me in your act
- 24:09Speaker 1: or something. I get that. You know, it's like. Right.
- 24:14Speaker 3: Okay.
- 24:14Speaker 1: So getting back to Will and Grace. So Will and
- 24:16Speaker 1: Grace was such a great script. And I can't remember
- 24:19Speaker 1: if I heard this on a talk show or if
- 24:21Speaker 1: I was told in person. But the story that I
- 24:24Speaker 1: heard of how the show came about was whoever was
- 24:27Speaker 1: the creators of it were pitching a show about– let
- 24:34Speaker 1: me think. It was like– yeah. They were pitching a
- 24:37Speaker 1: show about like a couple– That then had a best
- 24:41Speaker 1: friend couple that was a gay guy and a girl.
- 24:43Speaker 1: And then that said, that's the show we'd rather have
- 24:46Speaker 1: is the couple that's the gay guy and the girl,
- 24:48Speaker 1: not these other people.
- 24:50Speaker 3: It was this guy, Warren Littlefield, who ran NBC back
- 24:53Speaker 3: in the day. And he was great. And he was
- 24:55Speaker 3: the one who said that. And everybody bridled against it.
- 24:58Speaker 3: Everybody else said, no, no, you can't do that. You
- 25:00Speaker 3: can't have gay people, you know.
- 25:02Speaker 1: I know, but it seems so crazy now, but it
- 25:04Speaker 1: was so groundbreaking.
- 25:07Speaker 3: Yeah, it was the first, I mean, so Ellen had
- 25:10Speaker 3: come out, her character had come out on her show.
- 25:12Speaker 1: Several seasons in, yeah.
- 25:14Speaker 3: Yeah, and immediately got canceled, right? And so then, but
- 25:21Speaker 3: she really did set the stage.
- 25:22Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:22Speaker 3: You know? And then the only other gay character I
- 25:25Speaker 3: could think of was there was a show called Soap
- 25:28Speaker 3: way back.
- 25:29Speaker 1: Yes.
- 25:30Speaker 3: Billy Crystal's character was gay, but that was a big
- 25:32Speaker 3: ensemble and he was just one of the characters. But
- 25:35Speaker 3: that's all I can really think of.
- 25:37Speaker 1: Well, you know, there was this other show that my
- 25:39Speaker 1: mom loved, which was the original reality show. And they
- 25:43Speaker 1: actually did a like.
- 25:46Speaker 3: Oh, is it called like American Family? Yes.
- 25:48Speaker 1: And they were like this family in like, you know,
- 25:51Speaker 1: Santa Barbara.
- 25:52Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 25:52Speaker 1: And they brought in the cameras and it was PBS.
- 25:56Speaker 1: And in it, like one of the I think one
- 25:59Speaker 1: of the boys came out and then but it was
- 26:02Speaker 1: real life. And then the guy was having was cheating.
- 26:05Speaker 1: And then they did like a movie about it recently,
- 26:09Speaker 1: maybe in the last 10 years. And so that was
- 26:12Speaker 1: just so like, oh, my God, you know, like such
- 26:15Speaker 1: a big deal. And but no, I remember the Billy
- 26:19Speaker 1: Crystal character in Soap. Yeah. Why did they call that
- 26:22Speaker 1: show Soap? It wasn't a soap opera.
- 26:25Speaker 3: I don't know. Yeah.
- 26:26Speaker 1: Maybe.
- 26:27Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 26:27Speaker 3: I can't remember.
- 26:28Speaker 1: Yeah. That's interesting. So, okay. So then did you, okay.
- 26:33Speaker 1: So let's talk about the auditioning process. So did you
- 26:36Speaker 1: get the script before and just prepare like you would
- 26:38Speaker 1: any audition or?
- 26:40Speaker 3: So I auditioned for Grace originally.
- 26:43Speaker 1: Oh, okay.
- 26:43Speaker 3: And they were like, no. And then I forgot all
- 26:46Speaker 3: about it. And, you know, weeks went by. And I
- 26:50Speaker 3: get this call, like, they want you to come in
- 26:52Speaker 3: for this pilot, Will and Grace. I was like, I
- 26:54Speaker 3: went in. And they said, oh, it's for this other part.
- 26:59Speaker 3: And I was like, what other part? I didn't even
- 27:01Speaker 3: remember it. So they sent it to me, and I
- 27:03Speaker 3: was like, I don't like this part.
- 27:06Speaker 1: I don't want to go in. Why didn't you like her?
- 27:08Speaker 3: Well, it was totally different. It was not written the
- 27:11Speaker 3: way it evolved into the thing that we remember as
- 27:16Speaker 3: the character of Karen. But the character of Karen... was
- 27:20Speaker 3: I thought very much like Christine Baranski's. She was the
- 27:25Speaker 3: sidekick to somebody on Sybil, maybe. Yeah.
- 27:30Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 27:31Speaker 3: And it was very much like just this rich sidekick,
- 27:36Speaker 3: best friend who had like a zinger here and there.
- 27:39Speaker 3: But just did a lot of shopping and more a
- 27:41Speaker 3: lot of, which, you know, Karen did all of those
- 27:43Speaker 3: things too, but there wasn't anything very different. And I
- 27:46Speaker 3: was like, I feel like Christine Maransky already did that recently.
- 27:50Speaker 3: And they were like, well, just go in. And so
- 27:52Speaker 3: I went in and then they were like, well, they
- 27:57Speaker 3: want to test you at the network tomorrow and you're
- 27:59Speaker 3: the only person. And I was like, so then the
- 28:03Speaker 3: next day, it was tomorrow. And It was an hour
- 28:08Speaker 3: before the test. And I was in my pajamas eating
- 28:14Speaker 3: a plate of eggs. And my agent called.
- 28:16Speaker 1: She was like, are you going?
- 28:17Speaker 3: I was like, I don't know.
- 28:19Speaker 1: Wait, why did you feel like you didn't want it?
- 28:21Speaker 3: Because I didn't.
- 28:22Speaker 1: That's so interesting.
- 28:23Speaker 3: I didn't feel like I could bring anything to it.
- 28:26Speaker 3: You know, anything different.
- 28:27Speaker 1: So when you went and auditioned the first time as
- 28:30Speaker 1: the character of Karen, you didn't dress like this? I
- 28:34Speaker 1: didn't have.
- 28:35Speaker 3: Any fancy clothes.
- 28:36Speaker 1: So I wore.
- 28:37Speaker 3: A vintage, I wore a skirt that I had cut
- 28:40Speaker 3: off with a pair of scissors below the knee, black tights,
- 28:43Speaker 3: big platform shoes, and some kind of shirt and a
- 28:49Speaker 3: vintage leopard print, like really kind of bad, like coat,
- 28:54Speaker 3: you know, jacket, coat.
- 28:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:56Speaker 3: And so, yeah, I didn't have anything else that looked
- 29:01Speaker 3: kind of fancy, but No, I really just thought like
- 29:05Speaker 3: I was kind of over pilots at that point because
- 29:07Speaker 3: like I said, I was 41 and I had done
- 29:10Speaker 3: a pilot like every year or a show that didn't
- 29:12Speaker 3: go past seven episodes or 13 episodes. And I was
- 29:15Speaker 3: kind of over it. And I think I was just like,
- 29:17Speaker 3: if this isn't going to be funny or good, then
- 29:20Speaker 3: what is the, you know, what's the point? Like get
- 29:21Speaker 3: somebody who really like is dying to play this part.
- 29:25Speaker 3: And so then I decided, you know, I obviously then
- 29:28Speaker 3: did decide to like get up and change out of
- 29:32Speaker 3: my pajamas and go over there and do it. And
- 29:36Speaker 3: even the pilot, I was like, kind of, I mean,
- 29:39Speaker 3: it was fun. and I Sean Hayes and I didn't
- 29:42Speaker 3: have any scenes together but we like really hit it
- 29:45Speaker 3: off off camera so that part was really fun but
- 29:50Speaker 3: then I was kind of in the scenes like in
- 29:53Speaker 3: the actual playing of the scenes I was slightly miserable
- 29:56Speaker 3: because I knew that it wasn't really that funny. And
- 30:01Speaker 3: I couldn't like, you can't make it.
- 30:04Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 30:05Speaker 3: Something that's not and I wanted to be like, really
- 30:08Speaker 3: funny and really different. And the other characters were really funny.
- 30:11Speaker 3: I was like, Oh, you know, I'm the I'm the
- 30:13Speaker 3: least funny. So then over the course of You know,
- 30:17Speaker 3: then it got picked up.
- 30:18Speaker 1: And then how did you feel when you got picked up?
- 30:20Speaker 1: Were you like, eh? Or were you like, okay, great,
- 30:22Speaker 1: this will go for 13 episodes and then it'll get
- 30:25Speaker 1: canceled and I got this check and who cares?
- 30:27Speaker 3: Well, no, you know, something really funny happened. This guy,
- 30:29Speaker 3: I can't remember his name now, but he was a
- 30:31Speaker 3: guy who was like, I don't think he was working
- 30:34Speaker 3: at the network, but he was like a really rich
- 30:37Speaker 3: guy who was like a friend of somebody who was
- 30:39Speaker 3: like running the network or something. And he came to
- 30:42Speaker 3: the set one day when we were shooting the pilot
- 30:45Speaker 3: and He basically told us he gave his gold lighter
- 30:51Speaker 3: to Deborah Messing, who was trying to light a cigarette.
- 30:54Speaker 3: And he handed it to her. And she tried to
- 30:56Speaker 3: hand it back. And he was like, keep it. And
- 30:59Speaker 3: she was like, what? It was a Cartier lighter. And
- 31:03Speaker 3: she was like, I can't keep it. And he was like, oh,
- 31:06Speaker 3: you can keep it. This show's going to be around
- 31:09Speaker 3: for a long time. And then when the show got
- 31:13Speaker 3: picked up, he sent us all Cartier lighters.
- 31:15Speaker 1: Anyway, so then we thought— And he was just, what,
- 31:17Speaker 1: someone's friend?
- 31:17Speaker 3: We thought he must know. Well, he was a friend
- 31:19Speaker 3: of somebody who was, like, running the network.
- 31:21Speaker 1: Oh, wow.
- 31:21Speaker 3: So we thought, oh, he must know what he's talking about.
- 31:24Speaker 3: Or maybe he did work at the network, but he
- 31:26Speaker 3: was also, like, a really rich guy on his own, right? Yeah.
- 31:29Speaker 3: And so then we— it did get picked up. And as
- 31:37Speaker 3: it was kind of going along, I sort of started
- 31:41Speaker 3: just instinctively— because I'm not a very— I' m more of an instinctual—
- 31:45Speaker 3: actor than a... I don't know. I'm not as analytical
- 31:49Speaker 3: about that kind of stuff. Or it's a little bit
- 31:51Speaker 3: of both. And I started... Kind of my voice started
- 31:55Speaker 3: getting higher and higher. And it's pretty high to begin with,
- 31:58Speaker 3: but it started getting even higher. And then it was
- 32:02Speaker 3: about the 10th episode. And I feel like it wasn't...
- 32:05Speaker 3: I feel like Michael Patrick King, who did Sex and
- 32:08Speaker 3: the City, he went on to do Sex and the City.
- 32:11Speaker 3: He had done a lot of stuff before that, but he...
- 32:15Speaker 3: was a writer on Will and Grace briefly, maybe for
- 32:18Speaker 3: the first 10 or 12 episodes. And he had written
- 32:20Speaker 3: this episode and it took place at the Ice Capades.
- 32:24Speaker 3: And this was when I really remember the character like
- 32:28Speaker 3: coming into being. I had brought in a lot of
- 32:31Speaker 3: things like saying honey and just all the physical stuff
- 32:35Speaker 3: and everything. And then we're sitting there at the Ice
- 32:38Speaker 3: Capades and it's just, you know, the audience for the
- 32:40Speaker 3: whole time and Karen sitting there. And of course, Karen
- 32:43Speaker 3: And the ice capades do not mix. And they had
- 32:46Speaker 3: sat this woman next to me, this atmosphere person, who
- 32:51Speaker 3: was not.
- 32:52Speaker 1: Like an extra, you mean? Yeah.
- 32:53Speaker 3: A great beauty.
- 32:54Speaker 4: Yes.
- 32:55Speaker 3: Shall we say. And she was not, you know, thin.
- 32:57Speaker 3: And she was, you know, aesthetically not Karen's thing.
- 33:01Speaker 1: Karen's type, yeah.
- 33:02Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 33:02Speaker 3: And so I just remember that episode, like, I had
- 33:05Speaker 3: all these sort of unwritten things with her where I
- 33:09Speaker 3: was just, or, you know, kind of improvised where I
- 33:11Speaker 3: was like, honey, you look so pretty. Like I was
- 33:14Speaker 3: giving her compliments, even though you knew that it was
- 33:16Speaker 3: really costing Karen to like be in this close of
- 33:20Speaker 3: proximity to somebody who wasn't. So yeah, that's when I
- 33:23Speaker 3: remember it really like coming together for me.
- 33:26Speaker 1: That is so fun because like with all the stuff
- 33:28Speaker 1: that you guys would do. Now, how many seasons was it?
- 33:32Speaker 3: It was eight seasons, and then we did a reboot
- 33:35Speaker 3: that was three, but we did 246 episodes, and Jim
- 33:38Speaker 3: Burrows directed every episode.
- 33:40Speaker 1: So then was it always kind of like– then it
- 33:43Speaker 1: becomes sort of just such a school type of thing where, okay,
- 33:47Speaker 1: this is when we come back, right? Like, oh, we're
- 33:50Speaker 1: starting– this is when we take the promo photos. This
- 33:52Speaker 1: is when we come back. This is when the premiere
- 33:54Speaker 1: date is. This is when we go to upfronts. And
- 33:58Speaker 1: it must have been feeling like such a fun– um,
- 34:02Speaker 1: like routine of your life? Was it so strange when
- 34:05Speaker 1: it ended?
- 34:06Speaker 3: Yes, it was, you know, I think as a, as
- 34:10Speaker 3: you know, working in the arts, it's so rare to
- 34:13Speaker 3: have a job that goes for eight years. Like if
- 34:16Speaker 3: you're an accountant, that's a drop in the bucket.
- 34:19Speaker 1: Right.
- 34:20Speaker 3: Um, but to have an, a job for a long
- 34:23Speaker 3: period of time is, is so, so rare and it
- 34:26Speaker 3: was great. And, It was, you know, like a 20-minute
- 34:29Speaker 3: commute right over the hill and all of that stuff
- 34:33Speaker 3: was so great. And yes, when it ended, it was
- 34:36Speaker 3: very traumatic. Like, we all cried a lot and, you know.
- 34:44Speaker 1: And why did it end?
- 34:46Speaker 3: Well, it shouldn't have ended. It should have gone for
- 34:49Speaker 3: at least, I think it should have gone for two
- 34:51Speaker 3: or three more seasons. Mm-hmm. I think they just thought, oh,
- 34:54Speaker 3: you know how it is, the networks. They just think, well,
- 34:56Speaker 3: there'll be like a billion more of these.
- 34:59Speaker 4: Right.
- 34:59Speaker 3: We don't need to keep paying these people a lot
- 35:01Speaker 3: of money because there'll be so many more. And, of course,
- 35:03Speaker 3: there weren't any others.
- 35:04Speaker 1: And it's so interesting during that time of just the
- 35:07Speaker 1: height of sitcoms where it was your show, Friends, Seinfeld.
- 35:11Speaker 1: And then that's what I was auditioning for stuff and
- 35:14Speaker 1: never getting it. And there were so many copycat shows there.
- 35:21Speaker 1: Where you just know they got the writing orders to
- 35:25Speaker 1: do another Will and Grace. Yeah. Do a Friends.
- 35:28Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 35:28Speaker 1: How about Friends in San Francisco? How about Friends in Alaska?
- 35:31Speaker 3: So many Friends.
- 35:32Speaker 1: How about Friends ripoffs? Yeah.
- 35:34Speaker 3: And they were never funny. No. That's the problem is
- 35:36Speaker 3: they just weren't funny. Right. None of them were funny.
- 35:38Speaker 3: And they, you know, now this sitcom is just kind
- 35:41Speaker 3: of dead. I mean, there are maybe one or two that,
- 35:46Speaker 3: you know, people watch. But hardly any multicam shows. That's
- 35:50Speaker 3: kind of. But, you know, I think they just thought, oh,
- 35:52Speaker 3: there'll be so many more and this will just go
- 35:54Speaker 3: on forever and ever. But they should have they should
- 35:57Speaker 3: have tried to they should have beat the horse till
- 36:00Speaker 3: it was dead. You know, they should have really run
- 36:04Speaker 3: it into the ground until people were like, you know,
- 36:06Speaker 3: bashing their television sets in with the baseball bat.
- 36:09Speaker 1: Yeah. So sick of it.
- 36:10Speaker 3: You know, I think that's what they should have done.
- 36:12Speaker 1: I can't remember what happened towards the end. She got married. Right.
- 36:17Speaker 1: We never see her husband again. Don't we never see
- 36:20Speaker 1: your husband? Isn't that one of the things?
- 36:22Speaker 3: You never see him. You saw like a few body parts.
- 36:25Speaker 3: Like you saw his foot one time and you saw
- 36:28Speaker 3: like a really hairy arm.
- 36:30Speaker 1: Right.
- 36:30Speaker 3: You saw his shadow and the shadow was like gigantic.
- 36:33Speaker 1: It was so great because you're just, you know, this
- 36:35Speaker 1: little like gold digger that puts up with it. I
- 36:37Speaker 1: love that we never saw the husband. I thought that
- 36:39Speaker 1: was like a great move. And then wasn't it that
- 36:43Speaker 1: Grace did get married or was going to get married?
- 36:46Speaker 3: She married Harry King. Connick Jr. 's character and then
- 36:51Speaker 3: they split up and then I think Will married somebody
- 36:55Speaker 3: and then they split up and then at the end
- 37:01Speaker 3: there were like dream sequence there was a dream sequence
- 37:05Speaker 3: but we all it kind of cut to us all
- 37:07Speaker 3: 20 years later the finale and everybody looks older except
- 37:13Speaker 3: Karen looks exactly the same because she's got so much
- 37:15Speaker 3: work done that was funny But I feel like I
- 37:21Speaker 3: was so lucky on that show to have all these.
- 37:23Speaker 3: You know, so, I mean, I had Sean Hayes, who's
- 37:26Speaker 3: one of the great comedic actors ever. But then I
- 37:30Speaker 3: also did a whole season with Alec Baldwin, who is
- 37:32Speaker 3: one of the great comedic actors ever. And Leslie Jordan.
- 37:37Speaker 1: Oh, yes.
- 37:37Speaker 3: Who played Beverly Leslie. And, you know, he and I
- 37:41Speaker 3: had a very special working relationship. I also did... a
- 37:47Speaker 3: whole season with John Cleese that was like, it was
- 37:49Speaker 3: the sixth season. And I was basically in my own
- 37:53Speaker 3: world where my character gets married to John Cleese or
- 37:58Speaker 3: almost gets married to John Cleese. And my daughter-in-law is
- 38:02Speaker 3: Minnie Driver. And the three of us had, I barely
- 38:05Speaker 3: even saw the other cast members that year. It was
- 38:08Speaker 3: so fun though.
- 38:09Speaker 1: Did you ever think that they would ever do like
- 38:10Speaker 1: a spinoff or something?
- 38:13Speaker 5: Well, no.
- 38:13Speaker 3: I mean, you know, none of that. But, I mean,
- 38:16Speaker 3: that would have been great. But, you know, they did.
- 38:17Speaker 3: They had talked about spinning. I think they wanted to
- 38:20Speaker 3: spin off Jack and Karen. But then I don't think
- 38:22Speaker 3: Sean wanted to do it for some reason. But then
- 38:24Speaker 3: they were going to spin off my character. Then they
- 38:27Speaker 3: spun off Joey from Friends. And that did not go well.
- 38:31Speaker 1: Right.
- 38:32Speaker 3: And I think then they got cold feet.
- 38:34Speaker 1: Maybe.
- 38:34Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 38:35Speaker 1: Yes. Okay. Let's talk about, like, awards show. Now, you
- 38:39Speaker 1: would go to so many awards shows. How many?
- 38:41Speaker 3: One?
- 38:43Speaker 1: You've been nominated for like how many Emmys? Eight or something?
- 38:46Speaker 3: I don't know. I won twice.
- 38:49Speaker 1: Yes.
- 38:50Speaker 3: But I was nominated maybe six times. I wasn't nominated
- 38:55Speaker 3: for the first two seasons, so six.
- 38:56Speaker 1: When did you get nominated? And you've also won SAG.
- 38:59Speaker 3: No, I was seven because I got nominated during the reboot, too.
- 39:02Speaker 1: Okay, so you've been nominated a bunch of times. You've won.
- 39:05Speaker 1: You've gotten to go up and give your speeches. Yes.
- 39:07Speaker 1: Also for SAG, also for Golden Globes.
- 39:10Speaker 3: Yeah, I won four SAG awards.
- 39:12Speaker 1: Now, how do you come up with your speeches and
- 39:15Speaker 1: how do they change for each thing? The first time
- 39:18Speaker 1: you were nominated, was that a more unique speech? Because
- 39:22Speaker 1: it's the first time and it may never come again.
- 39:24Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 39:25Speaker 3: You know, I always had this thing where I didn't,
- 39:29Speaker 3: as of you, I didn't like it when people think
- 39:32Speaker 3: they're agents and managers and lawyers and stuff.
- 39:36Speaker 1: Yeah, you're right. That is so boring.
- 39:37Speaker 3: So I never did that.
- 39:38Speaker 1: But you're right. That's not good. It's actually not good content.
- 39:41Speaker 1: You're right.
- 39:41Speaker 3: I think my agent and manager weren't very excited about that.
- 39:46Speaker 3: But I just thought, like, what are we doing?
- 39:49Speaker 1: I get it because— Yeah, like, why does a person
- 39:51Speaker 1: in Oklahoma care about my lawyer? Yeah, you're right. They'd
- 39:54Speaker 1: rather hear a more intimate story of how.
- 39:56Speaker 3: You got there. So I always thought, like, try to
- 39:57Speaker 3: say something that is— has— that' s more inspirational that will— so that whoever's
- 40:06Speaker 3: watching can apply it to their own lives. That's like
- 40:09Speaker 3: a general things, not about being an actress, but just
- 40:13Speaker 3: about being, like, a human being. Although I will say
- 40:16Speaker 3: I did break that rule once, which was the last
- 40:18Speaker 3: time I won an Emmy. It was for the last
- 40:20Speaker 3: season of Will and Grace. I thanked some of the
- 40:22Speaker 3: crew because I thought they never get anything. And then
- 40:26Speaker 3: they started playing me off, you know. Yeah. Because that
- 40:29Speaker 3: was boring. But yeah, that was the only time I
- 40:32Speaker 3: got played off. But yeah, so I tried to think
- 40:34Speaker 3: of things that were sort of could apply to anybody.
- 40:38Speaker 1: And so do you remember some of the things that
- 40:39Speaker 1: you said that you liked?
- 40:40Speaker 3: I think I remember my first Emmy speech more, which
- 40:43Speaker 3: was just saying like, you know, kind of like to
- 40:48Speaker 3: boil it down to its essence, like dreams can come
- 40:51Speaker 3: true or just, you know, keep the faith and persevere.
- 40:56Speaker 3: You know, you never know what's right around the corner.
- 40:58Speaker 1: And then how do you decide what to wear each time? Oh, God.
- 41:01Speaker 3: You know, I could never get clothes sent to me.
- 41:05Speaker 3: I never got a dress.
- 41:07Speaker 1: Are you kidding? No, listen to this.
- 41:09Speaker 3: When I hosted the SAG Awards, which was about five
- 41:12Speaker 3: years ago, I hosted it. So you know I'm going
- 41:15Speaker 3: to be on camera. Could not get one dress from
- 41:19Speaker 3: one designer.
- 41:19Speaker 1: So you have to get a stylist to like go
- 41:21Speaker 1: to Neiman's and pick out dresses like a regular person?
- 41:25Speaker 3: Or I have to go online. I bought all my dresses.
- 41:29Speaker 3: I had three or four dresses for the SAG Awards.
- 41:32Speaker 3: I had bought them all online from like Saks or something.
- 41:34Speaker 1: Well, do they cover those? No. Wait, do you get
- 41:38Speaker 1: paid to do it?
- 41:38Speaker 3: No.
- 41:39Speaker 4: No.
- 41:40Speaker 1: You don't get paid to host a thing?
- 41:41Speaker 3: To do the sag? I don't think, I don't know
- 41:45Speaker 3: how much you get paid. They cover your hair and makeup.
- 41:47Speaker 3: I don't think you really get paid.
- 41:48Speaker 1: Oh my gosh.
- 41:49Speaker 3: I think they pay for like, so I had one writer,
- 41:53Speaker 3: so he and I wrote all the jokes.
- 41:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 41:55Speaker 3: I think they paid my writer.
- 41:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 41:58Speaker 3: Yeah, but no, I could never get, the first Emmy,
- 42:04Speaker 3: I did get a dress that, this is a good story. So,
- 42:09Speaker 3: Donna Karan, they were like, Donna Karan wants to make
- 42:12Speaker 3: you a dress. And they sent me a sketch, and
- 42:13Speaker 3: I was.
- 42:13Speaker 1: Like, great.
- 42:14Speaker 3: I mean, I was so starstruck. I would have worn
- 42:16Speaker 3: like a pickle barrel if they'd said that it was
- 42:18Speaker 3: from Donna Karan, even though I couldn't care less about
- 42:21Speaker 3: Donna Karan. I barely knew who it was. And so
- 42:24Speaker 3: I wore this dress, and it didn't fit very well,
- 42:27Speaker 3: and my right boob was threatening to fall out for
- 42:29Speaker 3: the entire night. And I remember I saw Bill Maher backstage.
- 42:33Speaker 3: He goes, you look great. And I said, I look
- 42:34Speaker 3: like an old hooker on her last good night out. Like,
- 42:38Speaker 3: I just didn't look that good.
- 42:40Speaker 1: Did he laugh?
- 42:41Speaker 3: Yeah, he did.
- 42:43Speaker 1: Now, okay, you're telling a story and I, you know,
- 42:46Speaker 1: I understand it and I've heard stuff like this from
- 42:49Speaker 1: like 20 years ago or even 15 where, you know,
- 42:53Speaker 1: and then it's like, I remember watching Rachel Zoe as
- 42:55Speaker 1: a stylist and I was like, how do people get
- 42:58Speaker 1: their dresses? And I remember this one girl was friends
- 43:01Speaker 1: with this girl who was, this is like 15 years ago,
- 43:05Speaker 1: was dating Ryan Seacrest. And you know, he would say,
- 43:09Speaker 1: come with me to all these things. But according to
- 43:14Speaker 1: this story, people, Ryan, he was not helping her with
- 43:18Speaker 1: her budget to get all these dresses. And she wasn't
- 43:21Speaker 1: on a level to get anything for free. And now,
- 43:24Speaker 1: you know, there's for the regular people, there's rent the runway.
- 43:28Speaker 1: There's a lot of, you know.
- 43:29Speaker 3: Things like that.
- 43:30Speaker 1: But But it's like, who are all these people that
- 43:34Speaker 1: are just like, oh, my God, we'll help you put
- 43:37Speaker 1: this whole look together. I mean, I don't really like
- 43:42Speaker 1: I think people think that that is the case because
- 43:44Speaker 1: they see it like on the Kardashians and Kim has that.
- 43:47Speaker 1: But I think a lot of people that are in
- 43:49Speaker 1: this game do not have access to that stuff.
- 43:52Speaker 3: Well, you know, I had stylists over the years. I
- 43:56Speaker 3: don't do it anymore anymore. I had stylists over the years,
- 44:00Speaker 3: and you have to pay the stylist a shitload of money,
- 44:02Speaker 3: first of all.
- 44:03Speaker 1: Like how much do you think?
- 44:05Speaker 3: So much.
- 44:06Speaker 1: So like you'd get a stylist if you had an
- 44:07Speaker 1: awards ceremony. So if you had an awards season back
- 44:11Speaker 1: in the day where you are going to like the
- 44:13Speaker 1: Spirit Award, you're going to like 10 things, then you
- 44:17Speaker 1: probably need to hire someone, and then they get all
- 44:19Speaker 1: the dresses, and then could they get them for free
- 44:21Speaker 1: or no? No, not for me.
- 44:24Speaker 3: They couldn't get them for me. And these are big stylists.
- 44:26Speaker 3: We're big stylists. And the designers would just be like, sorry.
- 44:31Speaker 3: And so sometimes I would use this woman, Lori Eskowitz,
- 44:35Speaker 3: who did the costumes for Will and Grace.
- 44:37Speaker 1: She was great.
- 44:37Speaker 3: So sometimes she would help me. But then I'd pay
- 44:40Speaker 3: her separately, you know, as a stylist for an award show.
- 44:43Speaker 3: But the thing about stylists is not the one from
- 44:48Speaker 3: Will and Grace. She was lovely. But a lot of
- 44:50Speaker 3: the people I hired over the years were Not only
- 44:53Speaker 3: do you have to pay them a lot of money,
- 44:54Speaker 3: but they're all crazy. And they come with their own baggage.
- 44:58Speaker 3: Like they come blowing in, like absolutely spinning out and
- 45:03Speaker 3: like flipping out and have with all a lot of.
- 45:06Speaker 1: You know, just.
- 45:09Speaker 3: Some problems. So I thought, God. And then the other
- 45:12Speaker 3: thing is I didn't ever feel comfortable. I always felt like,
- 45:16Speaker 3: let me just kind of do my own because I
- 45:19Speaker 3: know at least then I'm going to feel. I didn't
- 45:22Speaker 3: do that. during Will and Grace. I did it later.
- 45:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 45:26Speaker 3: But at least I'm going to feel comfortable. Like for
- 45:28Speaker 3: a talk show or something, I'd rather just pick it
- 45:30Speaker 3: out myself because I'm going to feel better.
- 45:33Speaker 1: Yeah. I feel that way about hair and makeup. And
- 45:38Speaker 1: I do, the few times I've gotten that, you know,
- 45:41Speaker 1: of course I would do it when I was on
- 45:42Speaker 1: Chelsea Lately and I had a great relationship with that
- 45:45Speaker 1: girl and stuff. But then It just took like one
- 45:49Speaker 1: time to go with a bare face and hate what
- 45:52Speaker 1: they did. To now, I always do my own hair
- 45:57Speaker 1: and makeup, but then I'll be like, zhuzh me up,
- 46:00Speaker 1: contour it a little bit more, tease the hair a
- 46:02Speaker 1: little more, whatever. Because I'm like, that will stress me
- 46:07Speaker 1: out before an appearance. And then if I don't like it,
- 46:10Speaker 1: then I'm thinking about the makeup artist point of view.
- 46:13Speaker 1: And then I'm thinking about the makeup artist doing a
- 46:16Speaker 1: TikTok about how I was a bitch doing the makeup,
- 46:20Speaker 1: which is now so like every day there's a story
- 46:25Speaker 1: about some stylist, makeup artist, hairdresser saying, This person didn't
- 46:30Speaker 1: pay me. This person didn't tip me. This person.
- 46:32Speaker 3: Do they name the people?
- 46:33Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. Or they're like they didn't or they said
- 46:36Speaker 1: they were going to tag me and they didn't. And
- 46:38Speaker 1: I'm just like, God, I mean, I just want to
- 46:42Speaker 1: thank God I could do my own stuff because I'm like,
- 46:45Speaker 1: that's horrible. It really is. And people are just dying
- 46:49Speaker 1: for the bad stories about people. They're just dying for them.
- 46:51Speaker 1: So like you could have met one person one time.
- 46:55Speaker 1: And then it's like, well, good luck to anyone else
- 46:57Speaker 1: hiring you. But at the same time.
- 46:58Speaker 3: It is better to do your own because then also.
- 47:00Speaker 1: And you are stressed too. So you're not going to
- 47:03Speaker 1: be a delight getting ready before a major event. You're
- 47:06Speaker 1: going to be nervous. You're not going to be thinking
- 47:08Speaker 1: about the feelings of the girl that's teasing your hair.
- 47:10Speaker 3: And you never have as much time as you think
- 47:11Speaker 3: you have. So you're always rushed.
- 47:13Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 47:13Speaker 3: And then what happens with me if I don't, if
- 47:15Speaker 3: it doesn't, if I feel like. my hair or my
- 47:17Speaker 3: makeup or both don't look right, then I go upstairs
- 47:20Speaker 3: and I try to fix it.
- 47:21Speaker 1: Yes, I've done that too. And then their feelings are hurt.
- 47:24Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 47:25Speaker 1: And then I'm like, God. I know. It is so traumatic.
- 47:30Speaker 3: I know it sounds like high class problems, but it
- 47:33Speaker 3: is stressful. It's not as fun as you think.
- 47:35Speaker 1: I remember as a young girl, I'd be like, you know, oh,
- 47:40Speaker 1: if I could be a model, you know, I didn't,
- 47:42Speaker 1: I didn't, I thought about comedy and things like that.
- 47:44Speaker 1: I always thought about being an actress and I always
- 47:46Speaker 1: loved watching the award show. But like when you'd watch
- 47:48Speaker 1: like someone like with the fan flowing like a Brooke
- 47:51Speaker 1: Shields and I was like, oh, to do a photo
- 47:53Speaker 1: shoot and have people do my hair and makeup. And
- 47:55Speaker 1: like the first time I did that for like to
- 47:57Speaker 1: get headshots, I was like, oh my God, this is
- 48:00Speaker 1: so much more tiresome, more stressful, and more like, so
- 48:05Speaker 1: not as fun as you think it is.
- 48:07Speaker 3: There's nothing worse. I mean, I don't have a princess complex. Like,
- 48:12Speaker 3: I don't like to get dressed up. I don't have
- 48:14Speaker 3: any dressy clothes. I have nothing. Like, if I had
- 48:17Speaker 3: to go to something nice tomorrow, I couldn't go because
- 48:20Speaker 3: I don't have anything. And I don't like to get
- 48:22Speaker 3: dressed up. And so I find it all very stressful.
- 48:25Speaker 3: And photo shoots. Oh, my God. When we started Will
- 48:27Speaker 3: & Grace, like, Debra Messing had done so many more shows.
- 48:32Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 48:32Speaker 3: And she had had so much. And Eric. They had
- 48:35Speaker 3: had so much more experience doing interviews and photo shoots.
- 48:40Speaker 3: And they were both really good at it and very
- 48:42Speaker 3: photogenic too, extremely. And so, you know, they knew all
- 48:47Speaker 3: the things and they were so comfortable. And I was
- 48:50Speaker 3: an absolute basket case and so was Sean. And I
- 48:53Speaker 3: remember we had– this is going to sound– Donnie and
- 48:59Speaker 3: Marie Osmond used to have a daytime talk show.
- 49:02Speaker 1: Yes, I was on it, yes.
- 49:03Speaker 3: And early on, we had an interview on set, all
- 49:07Speaker 3: four of us.
- 49:08Speaker 1: Oh, no, I was just on hers. She had one
- 49:10Speaker 1: later on just by herself.
- 49:10Speaker 5: Oh, Marie.
- 49:11Speaker 1: Yeah, but okay, Donnie Marie.
- 49:12Speaker 3: And so Donnie came, and he was interviewing us, and
- 49:14Speaker 3: we were on the set of Will and Grace and
- 49:19Speaker 3: we got done and I absolutely like I I walked
- 49:24Speaker 3: off and I burst into tears I was so stressed
- 49:27Speaker 3: out and I thought oh everything I just said was
- 49:29Speaker 3: so stupid not that they cared about me they were
- 49:32Speaker 3: more interested in the people that they yeah you know
- 49:35Speaker 3: knew about and um oh it was so stressful I
- 49:37Speaker 3: just and I couldn't get the hang of it, and
- 49:40Speaker 3: I felt like it was so fake, and it is.
- 49:42Speaker 3: And I felt like photo shoots are so fake, and
- 49:44Speaker 3: they are.
- 49:44Speaker 1: Yeah. You know?
- 49:45Speaker 3: And so that's what's really hard about it.
- 49:48Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 49:49Speaker 3: You have to know how to, like, flip into that.
- 49:52Speaker 1: And have fun with it and everything. Okay, well, since
- 49:54Speaker 1: we're talking about that really quick, I want to jump
- 49:55Speaker 1: to the Met Ball. Oh, yeah. This girl.
- 50:00Speaker 3: I might put my glasses on.
- 50:02Speaker 1: How do you pronounce her name? Anokai.
- 50:04Speaker 5: Uh-huh.
- 50:05Speaker 3: Anokai.
- 50:05Speaker 1: What is she in?
- 50:06Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 50:09Speaker 1: I think she was the most beautiful of the night.
- 50:11Speaker 3: I mean, that looks unbelievable.
- 50:13Speaker 1: She wore a– this was a jumpsuit.
- 50:16Speaker 3: What was the theme exactly? Sleeping beauty.
- 50:19Speaker 1: The theme was a good theme as far as pretty
- 50:21Speaker 1: dresses because it was sleeping beauty in the garden of whatever.
- 50:25Speaker 1: So anything that looked, you know– like garden-y, like princess-y, flower-y,
- 50:34Speaker 1: like really worked well. So there were a lot. You
- 50:37Speaker 1: know how some years it's just like all weird stuff?
- 50:39Speaker 1: This was probably the most normal-looking, pretty, flattering stuff.
- 50:44Speaker 3: I usually don't like it, and I liked it this year.
- 50:47Speaker 3: I thought everybody looked really cool. Yeah. Yeah, I thought
- 50:51Speaker 3: it was cool this year. Some of the makeup, too,
- 50:53Speaker 3: was just incredible.
- 50:55Speaker 1: And I think, though, this is what I always think about.
- 50:58Speaker 1: And then I think about this before a war show too.
- 51:00Speaker 1: So maybe like whenever I watch him, cause I don't
- 51:04Speaker 1: go to them where, I mean, I've gone to like
- 51:06Speaker 1: a red carpet, but it's never me, you know, and
- 51:09Speaker 1: my car is being held back. And I've never in that,
- 51:12Speaker 1: never been in that situation. Right. And there's just such a,
- 51:15Speaker 1: so many questions I have, especially this, like, So you
- 51:18Speaker 1: have all these people that put you in this outfit
- 51:20Speaker 1: and do your makeup. So each person has like eight people.
- 51:22Speaker 3: Okay.
- 51:23Speaker 1: Then they have to get in this van and some
- 51:25Speaker 1: of them have these big dresses. They have to like
- 51:26Speaker 1: stand up in the van. Then that takes them to
- 51:29Speaker 1: the Met thing. And then they take the photos and stuff.
- 51:33Speaker 1: And then what? Then after the photos, before they sit
- 51:37Speaker 1: down for their chicken breast, then does the group come
- 51:40Speaker 1: and then change them again and then take that big
- 51:42Speaker 1: dress out? Like all of that logistic stuff, I can't.
- 51:46Speaker 3: How can you even get certain dresses into?
- 51:50Speaker 1: You can't sit down in some of them. So that's
- 51:52Speaker 1: why they have a couple different outfits. But then where
- 51:55Speaker 1: do they go to change that? Are they just going
- 51:56Speaker 1: to the average bathroom inside?
- 51:59Speaker 3: No, they must have rooms for people to change. Like
- 52:02Speaker 3: I noticed that. Zendaya.
- 52:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 52:09Speaker 3: She had two.
- 52:10Speaker 1: Two or three. She had three outfits. Oh, really?
- 52:12Speaker 3: She looked great. I love her. I think she's cool.
- 52:15Speaker 3: She looked great. And then, but did you see Cardi B?
- 52:19Speaker 5: Yes.
- 52:19Speaker 3: Like, how do you get that into a car?
- 52:22Speaker 1: So that outfit, then she changed and she had just
- 52:25Speaker 1: like a cute red dress on. Let me see if
- 52:26Speaker 1: I have her. I don't know if I do. Oh,
- 52:29Speaker 1: here she is. So then when they went to the
- 52:31Speaker 1: after party- She just showed up in like a normal
- 52:34Speaker 1: red dress.
- 52:35Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 52:36Speaker 1: But like, yes. But, you know, I guess if you're
- 52:38Speaker 1: going to do this thing, I feel like did this
- 52:40Speaker 1: really I feel like this wasn't a big deal like
- 52:44Speaker 1: 15 years ago. The Met Gala. I feel like it's
- 52:46Speaker 1: been exploded. No, I know.
- 52:48Speaker 3: I don't even remember it until about. Maybe 10 years ago.
- 52:52Speaker 1: I do feel like the Kardashians kind of made everybody, like,
- 52:55Speaker 1: want to do it. Everyone's like, why are they here?
- 52:57Speaker 1: I'm like, they're the only reason that anyone cares. So, like,
- 53:00Speaker 1: if you don't want them to come around anymore, fine. But, like, nobody...
- 53:03Speaker 1: This has been going on for a long time and
- 53:05Speaker 1: nobody really talked about it. I think really just rich
- 53:07Speaker 1: people went and gave their money. And then it became
- 53:10Speaker 1: this whole thing that designers, like, bought tables and... Okay,
- 53:15Speaker 1: so then we have Kim. And she... put out her
- 53:20Speaker 1: own photos on her own Instagram before she walked on
- 53:24Speaker 1: the red carpet.
- 53:25Speaker 3: Oh, look at her waist. Oh, God.
- 53:28Speaker 1: So, okay, the waist is really disturbing. Oh, no.
- 53:31Speaker 3: That doesn't look good. That's scary.
- 53:34Speaker 1: It's creepy. It's so creepy. And if you zoom in.
- 53:38Speaker 3: But that's surgery. That's not.
- 53:40Speaker 1: When you zoom in, it's like red underneath. It's so
- 53:44Speaker 1: tight and painful. And that's what people were saying. So
- 53:47Speaker 1: in this photo.
- 53:47Speaker 3: So this is real life. This is other people's photos.
- 53:50Speaker 3: So she didn't doctor her photo.
- 53:51Speaker 1: No, this is the photo from.
- 53:52Speaker 3: So that's when you take some ribs out, I think.
- 53:55Speaker 1: Right?
- 53:55Speaker 3: Because I don't think it could be like that.
- 53:56Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know. But it said Kim Kardashian.
- 53:58Speaker 1: This is just a comment.
- 53:59Speaker 3: Oh, no, but she wore those trainers too, right? Yeah.
- 54:02Speaker 1: That traitor stuff is gone. Nobody talks about those traitors anymore.
- 54:05Speaker 3: Yeah. That used to be a thing. It doesn't do that.
- 54:08Speaker 1: So Kim Kardashian, once again, showing, showing up at a
- 54:11Speaker 1: look that does nothing but showcase how artificially small she
- 54:14Speaker 1: can make her waist. It, it honestly was disturbing. Like
- 54:20Speaker 1: it was, you know, she was the first person to do,
- 54:23Speaker 1: she put the Ozempic on the map. They won't say
- 54:26Speaker 1: they did it, but she did that to get into
- 54:27Speaker 1: the um, Marilyn Monroe one two years ago. Right. How
- 54:32Speaker 1: do you lose 14 pounds in a week or two
- 54:34Speaker 1: weeks or whatever? But then this is like, I don't know.
- 54:39Speaker 1: It like pains me.
- 54:41Speaker 3: Also that dress. I just saw a picture from the
- 54:45Speaker 3: front and I was like, I don't, that wasn't my Okay,
- 54:49Speaker 3: waist aside.
- 54:49Speaker 1: No, and then it's sheer. It's all the way sheer
- 54:53Speaker 1: with the sheer butt. I'm so sick of the sheer look.
- 54:56Speaker 3: Me too. I'm so over it. But I also felt
- 54:58Speaker 3: like it wasn't my favorite look. Just Kim Kardashian herself
- 55:03Speaker 3: and her waist aside.
- 55:05Speaker 1: I didn't.
- 55:05Speaker 3: Just the dress itself, I thought there were so many
- 55:08Speaker 3: other ones that were way, way better.
- 55:09Speaker 1: And then everyone's like, what's with this weird sweater? And
- 55:12Speaker 1: she said, the sweater was part of the theme. Like,
- 55:15Speaker 1: I'm in a garden and it's my boyfriend's gray sweater
- 55:17Speaker 1: and I put it on.
- 55:18Speaker 3: What?
- 55:19Speaker 1: That was her backstory for this outfit.
- 55:21Speaker 3: Sleeping Beauty's boyfriend has a gray sweater?
- 55:24Speaker 1: Okay.
- 55:25Speaker 3: All right.
- 55:27Speaker 1: Sure. Then this is Amrata Emily. Look at her boobs.
- 55:31Speaker 1: And so then she wore a whole sheer thing. What's
- 55:34Speaker 1: her name? This is Emily Ratajkowski, whatever. And she's very pretty.
- 55:43Speaker 1: And she's always, I don't know. She's just, and then
- 55:47Speaker 1: the whole nude thing.
- 55:48Speaker 3: I'm like, it's, I feel like that. I feel like
- 55:52Speaker 3: that was good for about like six or seven years ago.
- 55:55Speaker 3: That was good for a minute when I was like,
- 55:56Speaker 3: I can't believe I can see everything. But now it's like,
- 55:59Speaker 3: put it back on.
- 56:00Speaker 1: Now I feel like you stand out if you.
- 56:02Speaker 3: If you don't do it.
- 56:03Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah.
- 56:04Speaker 1: If you don't do it and you like are not
- 56:06Speaker 1: showing your nips and your butt crack.
- 56:08Speaker 3: She has crazy, amazing boobs.
- 56:10Speaker 1: Her boobs and her ass are amazing.
- 56:13Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 56:13Speaker 1: And I get it. You're like, why not? Because otherwise
- 56:17Speaker 1: I don't have that much going on. And I still
- 56:19Speaker 1: have a great ass and I might not have this
- 56:21Speaker 1: ass forever. So if you're going to invite me, I
- 56:24Speaker 1: want my photo. If I'm going to go through all
- 56:26Speaker 1: this trouble, I want my photos to go somewhere. So
- 56:28Speaker 1: I kind of see that you're not going to gain
- 56:30Speaker 1: anything in being subtle at this thing.
- 56:32Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 56:33Speaker 1: And but I mean, it's absolute work doing all this.
- 56:36Speaker 3: How is it legal, though? How's it legal? Like, why
- 56:40Speaker 3: is that not indecent exposure?
- 56:43Speaker 1: I'm just curious. I don't know.
- 56:45Speaker 3: I'm not on judgment. I don't know who's doing it.
- 56:46Speaker 3: I'm just saying, like, isn't that against the law?
- 56:48Speaker 1: I think there's been times where Instagram would take down nips.
- 56:53Speaker 3: A nipple.
- 56:54Speaker 1: And then, but then there's other times, like, I'll be
- 56:57Speaker 1: watching a reality show and some girls' boobs are out
- 57:00Speaker 1: and they just barely fuzz it out.
- 57:03Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 57:03Speaker 1: And then you're like, what if men could have their
- 57:05Speaker 1: nipples out? So I don't really, I just think it's like,
- 57:07Speaker 1: who knows? Yeah.
- 57:09Speaker 3: I guess the police aren't, like, busting into the. you know,
- 57:13Speaker 3: to the Met Gala.
- 57:14Speaker 1: And then this was Pamela Anderson. And this was, I
- 57:17Speaker 1: was like, what the, so I saw this thing around
- 57:19Speaker 1: her hair. She looks beautiful. And she has this, but
- 57:21Speaker 1: she has this feather thing around her.
- 57:23Speaker 3: It kind of looks like her hair.
- 57:24Speaker 1: Right. And I go, is this supposed to be Like
- 57:28Speaker 1: Sleeping Beauty woke up from her nap or whatever. But
- 57:31Speaker 1: then I saw another one and I go, oh, it's
- 57:33Speaker 1: just a feather.
- 57:34Speaker 3: Oh, it's just the angle.
- 57:35Speaker 1: But whoever thought of that feather should have thought about that.
- 57:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 57:39Speaker 1: They should have said we should choose a feather that
- 57:41Speaker 1: doesn't match the color of your hair.
- 57:43Speaker 3: Yeah. And I feel like it seems a little bit
- 57:46Speaker 3: like an afterthought, you know, like maybe you don't need it.
- 57:49Speaker 1: She didn't need the feather because then, look, from the front,
- 57:52Speaker 1: it's really good.
- 57:53Speaker 3: And now she's been doing the no makeup thing.
- 57:55Speaker 1: She didn't need it. But she did put a little
- 57:57Speaker 1: makeup on this day.
- 57:58Speaker 3: I love the no makeup thing. I thought that was
- 58:00Speaker 3: so great that she started doing that. I like her because,
- 58:04Speaker 3: you know, Nick, my husband, was in this Pam and Tommy.
- 58:09Speaker 3: And I thought that was so good because it really showed, like,
- 58:11Speaker 3: how– You know, she was the loser in that whole thing.
- 58:16Speaker 1: It was really interesting.
- 58:17Speaker 3: I thought it was good.
- 58:18Speaker 1: Yeah, I thought it was really well done. We really
- 58:20Speaker 1: liked it. But what I found interesting in watching it
- 58:22Speaker 1: with my sons is that they were like, oh, my God,
- 58:27Speaker 1: she just needs to get over it. Like, who cares? Like,
- 58:29Speaker 1: this is not a big deal. Because to them, that
- 58:32Speaker 1: isn't a big deal that someone is out there having
- 58:36Speaker 1: sex with their husband. Right. But I'm like, yeah, but
- 58:39Speaker 1: do you see– this was like 25 years ago and
- 58:42Speaker 1: why that was like she was trying to take seriously
- 58:44Speaker 1: and it was stolen and it was this and it
- 58:46Speaker 1: was put out. And it really was so crazy that
- 58:51Speaker 1: they really didn't get any money for it. It was crazy.
- 58:54Speaker 3: Yeah, it's crazy.
- 58:56Speaker 1: And then everybody just thought, well, I found it, so
- 58:58Speaker 1: too bad. That was really– that was like very well done.
- 59:03Speaker 1: And then she did her own thing and so her
- 59:07Speaker 1: own like– documentary kind of about her life. And yeah,
- 59:12Speaker 1: she's still so stunning. I'd love to see her like
- 59:15Speaker 1: do something more.
- 59:17Speaker 3: Me too.
- 59:17Speaker 1: Act or something. But also when you have a perfect
- 59:20Speaker 1: face like that.
- 59:21Speaker 3: It's nice that she was at this.
- 59:23Speaker 1: But look at her waist.
- 59:25Speaker 3: You know what I mean?
- 59:26Speaker 1: That's small, but it's not insane. No, that's true. It's small,
- 59:30Speaker 1: and she's got nice big boobies. Yeah, that's true. But also,
- 59:35Speaker 1: the thing that made her so famous that I think
- 59:37Speaker 1: is so interesting today is like, and she was discovered
- 59:41Speaker 1: at some sporting game. Someone saw her face, and then
- 59:45Speaker 1: they're like, oh, would you like to be a model
- 59:46Speaker 1: for this beer or whatever? And it's because she had
- 59:49Speaker 1: such a perfect nose and such a perfect smile, and
- 59:52Speaker 1: she had naturally full lips. And you just couldn't buy
- 59:56Speaker 1: that back then. Right. And now anyone can have good teeth.
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: Anyone can have a perky nose.
- 1:00:03Speaker 3: Anyone can have lips.
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: And everybody looks the same. Like I thought when I
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: saw this Emily, I thought that was Kendall Jenner. Uh-huh.
- 1:00:11Speaker 3: Yeah, totally. Yeah, they all, yeah.
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: And I was like, and not saying that either of
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: them have stuff done, but people do. They do a
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: little tweak and they really start to look alike. Queen
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: Latifah and her partner Ebony made their rare red carpet appearance. Now,
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: I think this is really great because I she was
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: one of those people that I was like. I feel
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: like she didn't come out for a long time, but
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: everybody knew she was a lesbian. And then she had
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: a talk show and I was on that for two
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: years and it was like, I'm going to be real.
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: But then she wasn't honest about her relationship.
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: Hmm.
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: Which I can see why she didn't want to be.
- 1:00:48Speaker 3: Yeah, especially on daytime.
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: Yeah, but also at that time, like how real can
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: you really be if you unfortunately feel that you have
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: to keep the most important relationship in your life a secret?
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: I mean, I can't imagine if all– like I talk
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: about my husband all the time and if all of
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: a sudden, you know, I had to be like, well–
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: You know, like if the flip was the norm and
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: all of a sudden I always had to be like, well,
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: my wife, Patty. And, you know, like if you think
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: about it that way, it just is like so weird
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: and strange. So it's nice to see that they got
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: to go and like have fun.
- 1:01:23Speaker 3: I think that's great.
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: Yeah. And like, you know, look great. And then this
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: was weird. This was Doja Cat.
- 1:01:30Speaker 3: I saw that.
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: And then she went in just a towel and a
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: towel on her head and did this weird makeup.
- 1:01:36Speaker 3: But so do you have a picture of her dress?
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: No, it was just a towel. It really was just
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: a towel.
- 1:01:44Speaker 3: Oh, because I saw a dress. It was all wet.
- 1:01:49Speaker 3: Like her tears had soaked the dress.
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: Oh, wait, maybe I have a different one then.
- 1:01:52Speaker 3: I think I have it.
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: So many people change so many times. I'm like, maybe
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: I don't have the right one then.
- 1:01:57Speaker 3: Yeah, I think I have it.
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: But I get like you're with a team and they're like,
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: let's do something different and creative to match this theme.
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: So I just feel like it's not really, it's not
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: so different than like going to the Oscars and wearing
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: something weird. Like you're supposed to be wearing something kind
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: of weird.
- 1:02:13Speaker 3: Well, the thing I liked about, so I don't remember
- 1:02:17Speaker 3: the towel on her head in the photo I saw.
- 1:02:20Speaker 3: I remember the tears and then she's wearing this white.
- 1:02:24Speaker 3: Very plain dress that looks like a long T-shirt, and
- 1:02:28Speaker 3: she's kind of holding it up like crotch level. She's
- 1:02:31Speaker 3: kind of holding it, and then it's all soaking wet,
- 1:02:34Speaker 3: like her tears soaked her, and it's kind of sheer.
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: But I thought it was a good idea, actually.
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: Yeah, it was cool then. All right. So this, I
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: want to get your opinion on this. This is about
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: the roast. Nikki Glaser did really well. I think she
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: was the only female cast. comedian that did the roast
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: of Tom Brady it was at the forum it was
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: for Netflix as a joke I've watched most of it
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: but now of course there's some controversial stuff because the
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: whole point of a roast is really going there and
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: being cruel and we haven't seen them in a while
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: since Comedy Central ended them I personally as a stand
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: up have always been like very uncomfortable I've never wanted
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: to do it.
- 1:03:18Speaker 3: I don't like watching them I don't like them.
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: I just feel like, first of all, to be good
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: at it, you have to go there and you cannot
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: care about anything. You have to be Don Rickles. You
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: have to be so... And she was great at it.
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: It's her thing. She's good at it.
- 1:03:35Speaker 3: You have to be Ricky Gervais, you know, like where
- 1:03:38Speaker 3: you really will do anything and you don't care. Yeah.
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: Well, a lot of them didn't care and they went
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: for some things that now they're getting some shit for.
- 1:03:45Speaker 3: So.
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: Tom Brady, a lot of the jokes were easy jokes.
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: You're good looking, you look gay, whatever. Then Kevin Hart
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: is there. He's the host. You're short, you're short, you're short.
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: You know, and what I remember from the past is
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: there would always be when, and Pamela Anderson, I remember
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: this was the one that turned me off to the roast.
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: They did a Pamela Anderson roast years ago on Comedy Central.
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: And it was all about Or maybe she was sitting there.
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: Maybe it wasn't her roast. Maybe she's one of the
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: people and then they get to roast her too. And
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: it was so many things about her vagina and her
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: vagina size and all this other stuff. And I just
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: remember watching it and I'm like, she has two boys. Like,
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: why is she doing this? And I think at the
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: time they would get people to do the Comedy Central
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: roast because, quite frankly, it was a big paycheck. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: And then I think sometimes people were like, well, it'll
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: make me relevant again or I can laugh at the
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: joke or I'll at least be part of the joke
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: or whatever. But then so with this one, it was,
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: you know, there were some good, you know, fun moments.
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: But these are the things are getting criticized for. So
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: she said on Howard Stern, she did cut a joke
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: about Tom Brady kissing his son. So there was this
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: this video that went viral that he was on a table.
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: Tom Brady, this is years ago. like probably eight years ago.
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: Maybe it was that long ago, whatever. He was laying
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: on his head, getting some physical therapy done or whatever.
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: And they were, they were filming it and his son
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: walks in and I think it was his older son.
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: And he's like, Hey, what are you doing? And he's like, well,
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: come here and give me a kiss. So the kid
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: leaves already just kisses him like on the lips, whatever.
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: And it went out and you know, 20% of the
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: people thought it was sweet and normal. And 80% was like, what?
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: That kid's too old to be kissed on the lips.
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: And it became a big thing. And so she's like,
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: I had a joke about it, but then I decided
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: to take it out. She goes, because we decided the
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: kids shouldn't be part of the thing. But she's like,
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: I had a dad that kissed me on the lips,
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: you know, whatever. I'm fine. But I get why it's
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: like awkward and why some people think it's weird or whatever.
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: So I kind of thought, okay, so she decided to
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: drop the joke. Then she said the joke on Howard, which,
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: you know, was funny. So- But in the special, they
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: do talk about him. He was with Bridget Moynihan and
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: she was pregnant when they broke up or they broke
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: up and then she found out she was pregnant. And
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: she's gone on to have a good life. I don't
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: think she wanted him. I don't think she felt like
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: she was being stood up. And then he went to
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: get with Giselle, who's now he's divorced from. So there
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: were jokes about leaving your pregnant wife and all of that.
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: I don't really think. Then there was also jokes about
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: Giselle and how much money she would get. So she's
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: not happy today. She's pissed over the divorce jokes, according
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: to people.
- 1:06:39Speaker 3: None of these people seem like they have wild senses
- 1:06:43Speaker 3: of humor, though. You know what I'm saying? These are
- 1:06:46Speaker 3: not the people who seem like they have rollicking senses
- 1:06:49Speaker 3: of humor.
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: Well, I think Tom Brady was okay with everything. It
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: was more of a couple other things. And then this one...
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: There were Aaron Hernandez's jokes. And to remind people, he
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: was a professional football player. He was, I guess, on
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: the Patriots, same team. And then he was the one,
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: do you remember the story? He was the one that
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: then he killed somebody like in a drive, like a
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: shooting situation. And then when he was in prison, he
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: ended his life and he hung himself. And he did
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: it in a way so people thought so that his
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: fiancée or mother of his child and that child would
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: get his money. And I don't know. It was a
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: big thing. So now she's coming forward.
- 1:07:36Speaker 3: Wait, they made some jokes about him?
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: They did.
- 1:07:40Speaker 3: Oh, my gosh.
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: Something about a ring around the neck, meaning because he
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: hung himself. God. And so it was just like that
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: was just not– And making like, oh, you know, cause
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: they were, they were teammates and making some throwaway jokes about,
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: I don't know, some reference to him. And yeah, I mean, it's, it's,
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: it's hard. There were, there were, there were a few
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: people that I was like, okay, that's one joke. Like
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: I was watching it and it was, and I love
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: Tom Segura and Bert Kreischer and their whole thing. They
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: had a screen and they were going through all these
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: jokes and, And they were laughing and they were doing well.
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: But then there was like a Hitler thing. And I
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: was like, I just don't– listen, people have made jokes
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: about Hitler for a long time. But at this particular time,
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: like I'm like– I just think that would be the
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: one that I'd be like– Yeah. Like we have 12. Yeah.
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: We don't need 13 jokes. Like if we're going to
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: like– Yeah. But then it was like, hey, you know,
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: I get that comedian way of like we're not going to,
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: you know– whatever and it's out there and it's like
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: you don't like it but it's live so it was
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: a live thing and I think it was like we're
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: gonna be edgy we're gonna bring back comedy and you
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: can't be sensitive and that's the thing but it.
- 1:09:03Speaker 3: Well I agree with that that you can't worry about
- 1:09:06Speaker 3: being right you know it's gotten to the point where
- 1:09:08Speaker 3: you can't say anything um but so I agree that
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: that does that is the enemy of comedy because comedy
- 1:09:17Speaker 3: has to keep pushing the envelope But no, I think
- 1:09:21Speaker 3: there's a time and a place also for certain things.
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: But the whole thing is like, yeah, at a certain point,
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: you do have to just be like... And I used
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: to be like, oh my God, no, that's not what
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: I meant. And people would write, I don't like that
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: you said that on the show. And then I finally like...
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: basically blocked all those people and now I don't really
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: see it anymore and I don't go to the places
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: where I could see it yeah because at a certain
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: point you're like I just I'm not going to be
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: able to be creative and like I'm gonna say things
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: and I'm not even controversial it just it's just having
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: a different opinion than somebody and then be like I
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: can't believe that you you know think this or said
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: that I was like oh god there's a 10 billion
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: other ones to listen to but I mean, for the
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: most part, like people really liked it and, you know,
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: and people did well in their delivery, but I thought
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: those were interesting things that are not, you know, that
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: some people are like, did they go too far or not?
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: And then you read the comments and a lot of
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: people are like, no, we have to bring back comedy
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: and just deal with it.
- 1:10:15Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: That's good. I know.
- 1:10:16Speaker 3: I barely go on social media anymore. Um, I just,
- 1:10:20Speaker 3: I don't know. Something just happened. Like I, I just got,
- 1:10:24Speaker 3: I just didn't want to do it anymore. But, um,
- 1:10:27Speaker 3: But I mean, I totally get it. And I was
- 1:10:29Speaker 3: only on it for like maybe three or four years.
- 1:10:32Speaker 3: I was really into it. I thought it was fun.
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: Yeah, you have so many followers. I know.
- 1:10:36Speaker 3: I hardly ever do it anymore.
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: You're like a million seven or something.
- 1:10:40Speaker 3: Yeah, not that many.
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: No, you do. I just was on it. You're over
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: a million. Do you know that you're over a million?
- 1:10:45Speaker 3: Yeah, I do know that. But I guess I liked Instagram.
- 1:10:48Speaker 3: But then I just started feeling like, oh, I don't know.
- 1:10:52Speaker 3: It's just tough.
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: Now, there's a fun kind of juicy story. Do you
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: remember Sixteen Candles? Of course you do, right?
- 1:10:59Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: So Jake Ryan, he was so gorgeous. He's the one,
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: you know, at the end of the one that she likes.
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: He starred in the movie. He was just a model.
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: He was handpicked by John Hughes. He really hadn't acted much.
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: He was 23 at the time. And anyway, then... He
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: was such a babe. It was such a classic movie.
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: But then he dropped out of acting completely. He's been
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: with his wife forever and dropped out of acting completely.
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: I don't know what he does. He's 63. But now
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: his daughter is like a famous model.
- 1:11:28Speaker 3: She's gorgeous. Wait, is Sixteen Candles the one where Molly
- 1:11:31Speaker 3: Ringwald puts lipstick on with her boobs, between her boobs?
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: It's one of the Johnny's. No, that's the one where
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: they're in detention the whole day, I think. No, Sixteen
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: Candles is so funny.
- 1:11:43Speaker 3: I auditioned for the lipstick. Boobs one.
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: Oh, wait. So, wait. Oh, wait. Breakfast Club.
- 1:11:50Speaker 3: Oh, wait.
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: To be which part?
- 1:11:52Speaker 3: I guess Molly Ringwald. I don't know. Or short. You know,
- 1:11:55Speaker 3: it was kind of mix and match.
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: Wait, but were you... Okay, there were two girls in it.
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: But I did the... There was the Molly Ringwald.
- 1:11:59Speaker 2: I did the.
- 1:12:00Speaker 3: I did the boobs lipstick thing.
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: Oh, well, then that was the part that you were
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: going to be the prima donna person.
- 1:12:03Speaker 3: But I think they read us for, like, different parts.
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: Yeah. And then, yeah, and it was Ally.
- 1:12:10Speaker 3: Ally Sheedy.
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: Ally Sheedy was the one that was, like, the... kind
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: of emo one yeah and then she was yeah this
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: one was so funny it was like my favorite movie
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: and but it was one of those movies that then
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: I was like so excited you guys you're gonna die
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: this is the funniest movie ever and then my kids
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: are kind of like um and then you like watch
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: it and there's like sexual assault in it oh wow
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: like this girl gets his girlfriend gets really drunk His
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: character's girlfriend. He doesn't care about his girlfriend anymore because
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: he's in love with Molly Ringwald. Because she looked at
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: him and he was like, that's who I want to
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: be with. It was just like never would happen. But anyway.
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: And so then he tells Anthony Michael Hall, take my
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: drunk girlfriend home. And she passes out. And then he
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: looks right to the camera and he's like, oh. And
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: then at the end, she realizes, because she thinks Anthony
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: Michael Hall is Jake Ryan.
- 1:13:12Speaker 3: Oh.
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: So she has sex with him, but they don't show
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: them having sex, but they just show her after going,
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: did we have sex? And he's like, yeah. And she's like, okay,
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: you know, whatever.
- 1:13:24Speaker 4: Whatever.
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: And it was like, wait, what? Like she was completely
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: passed out. He basically said, have your way with this
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: drunk girl. I don't care about her anymore because she's
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: drunk and she had a party at my house. And
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: I'm going for this classier redhead girl. And so then
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: he goes to the wedding and she's like, and then
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: they have that scene where they're like sitting on the
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: table having the cake.
- 1:13:49Speaker 3: Isn't it so crazy how things have changed?
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:13:54Speaker 3: Things have really changed.
- 1:13:56Speaker 4: I know.
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: And then that's the funniest thing because that's what a
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: lot of my friends have said. Like, you know, we're
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: all like Gen X and we're all, you know, raising
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: Gen Z kids. And they'll be like, mom, like this
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: is so problematic. What is this thing? And I'm like. oh,
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: my God, these kids are, like, so much, like, nicer
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: and better than we are. Like, because it's just, I
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: won't remember. I just feel like, oh, this was such
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: a funny movie. And it's, like, it's, like, racist. And, like, they're, like,
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: why is everybody white? Kids now are so colorblind. I mean,
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: it's so, so different. And then they're, like, one thing
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: I said is, like, oh, people all, all these people
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: actually all wore jeans, like, at the same time.
- 1:14:39Speaker 3: Like.
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: Watching Fast Time at Ridgemont High, he's like, oh, everybody
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: wore jeans like this? And there's so much sex in
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: those movies and stuff. And I'm like, yeah, you're right.
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: These kids are like 14 and having sex. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:14:55Speaker 3: I know. That's nuts. Yeah, you don't see it as much.
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: So tell me, what else is going on? Anything that
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: we should watch out for that you're in or doing
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: or working on?
- 1:15:04Speaker 3: Oh, not really. A couple things in the works, but nothing.
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: Just enjoying your life? Yeah. I love it. I'm so
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: glad you came. This was so juicy and you answered
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: so many questions and everything.
- 1:15:16Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm such a fan of yours. Thanks for having
- 1:15:17Speaker 3: me on.
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: Oh, thank you. Thank you. This was so fun. Thank you.
- 1:15:20Speaker 5: Your home changes over time. The kitchen gets louder, the
- 1:15:24Speaker 5: mornings get busier, and suddenly you're wondering, is it time
