- 5:16thing. Twenty two is no since when? Well, I found it in
- 5:20the garbage can when I was out walking. I was going to make a
- 5:24cigarette lighter out of him. Such a little gun, I look nice in
- 5:28my coffee here. It was fully loaded when the officers took it from him.
- 5:31Was that gun loading? That's what the officer's report says right here?

- 7:28No one? Yes? Found this empty bill called in the alley,
- 7:30had his name in driver's license. No money. Let me see that ripped
- 7:34part way over Yeah, watching ring missing too. Henry Leonard Man two two
- 7:40one six one Cherry Hills Drive about six blocks away. Anybody talked to missus
- 7:45Donarde? Yeah, Ash, she went over and got it. She's over
- 7:46there in the car. Okay. Have we hear about minds saying no?
- 7:53Yeah, I think I have it? Then she sure won't have anything to
- 7:58sing about tonight. Hello, Ben, Hi, this is Lennon. Yes,
- 8:07this is Lieutenant Guthrie. How do you do. Hello? Did you
- 8:11see Yes? I saw him? Hank? All right, Well what's left
- 8:16of him? I don't think I'm going to be able to Yeah, the
- 8:20doctor curse is still here right. I'm singing at the Doveville now. And
- 8:39Hank came by to night for the last show. We closed about two,
- 8:43and then we had something to eat. Then we went out to the house.
- 8:48What time was that about three point thirty? I guess four o'clock going
- 8:52that's all. Hank left about four. We talked a while at the house
- 8:56and then he left. Hank didn't lived here, He's been in Florida the
- 9:01last two years. He just came in town Sunday night. We're separating.
- 9:05I see when he left you at the house. This morning. Where was
- 9:09he going back to his hotel the Delvi? Was he driving? No?
- 9:15I offered him the car, but he said he'd rather walk. Why would
- 9:18anybody kill Hank? They're pretty sure the motive was robbery, Missus Monny.
- 9:22Robbery. Yes, there was no watcher ring on the body, and his
- 9:24wallet had been empty. Oh. He had a beautiful watch, just a
- 9:28beautiful watch that he loved very much. Can you describe it? It had
- 9:31Roman numerals and a white gold case. It was a jiraw any engraving arn
- 9:37his initials h H l ell. Don't happen to remember where he bought it.
- 9:43I bought it for him on his birthday four years ago. It was
- 9:46the WinCE Jewelry Company. Any other valuables he might have had on in Missus
- 9:50Roon, just his rain. It was a plain gold wedding band. He
- 9:54still wore. Anything outstanding about the ring engraving? No? Okay, anything
- 10:03else? No? May I have a cigarette? No? True? Yeah,
- 10:11thank you. We want to cover every possibility, Missus mont Dad.
- 10:18Can you think of anyone who might have had reason to want to kill your
- 10:20husband? No? Did you have any enemies in town? No? Why
- 10:24the way he looks now somebody just waylaid him and robbed him, killed him.
- 10:30But it's pretty far from your house to his hotel, missus Lemon,
- 10:33almost twenty blocks. Well, I can explain that. Hank said he felt
- 10:37like walking. He was in town to talk about our divorce. I've been
- 10:41thinking of marrying someone else, I see, And that's why he met you
- 10:46with the Doorville, Yes, to straighten out some things. It was beginning
- 10:50to drizzle when he left. I looked out the window and watched him go
- 10:54down the street. He looked kind of lonely. What about the weapon doct
- 11:13oh blunt instrument is about the best we can do for you. Then,
- 11:16any way you can narrow it down. I don't know. Maybe something to
- 11:20this. It just came from the crime lab, probably a copy on your
- 11:22desk. Now. I found some flakes in the wounds. Specimen I sent
- 11:26of the lab has been analyzed on the spectrograph. They found out it was
- 11:30a substance called Ansis prosive protective product made by Union Petroleum. What's the use
- 11:35for it? There was the spray tools and metal. It might be out
- 11:37in the weather. A lot. I got a filling station, a lot
- 11:39of tools, in the new cars, have it that might help? You'll
- 11:43pick up anything out there? Oh nothing, no tire marks, Principal Tuffy.
- 11:46That looks like it. Well, somebody's car might have a little blood
- 11:50on. Oh excuse me, one shot detail has to watch and ring in
- 11:54the hot list, but all we have to work in it now. Yeah,
- 11:58I feel ben, Thanks Gothrie. Then I'm at twenty two one seventy
- 12:05eight Cherry Hills Place, across from beth Lenet's house, about six houses down,
- 12:07twenty two seventy eight. Yeah, what's that? Checking the story about
- 12:13Leonard walking home? Lady here, missus Sheridan saw somebody pick him up when
- 12:16he left the house. Does you know who we are? She says,
- 12:18it looked like beth Lenet's boyfriend, James Brower. Okay, we'll check it
- 12:22out. Backing up the great CBS Radio news team on election Night will be

- 13:35like that. It wasn't mine. Well, I understand, we have to
- 13:37look into all these things. Sure, I understand. You want to come

- 13:50Sure, Charlie Monroe my manager, You came right home, went to
- 13:54bed. Yeah you knew Henry Leonard. Sure, I've known him ten or
- 13:58twelve years. You know him before he married Beth? Were on good terms
- 14:01with him? Ye mean? Oh yeah? I think so good terms you
- 14:05can be with a husband or the woman you're gonna marry. Look, Beth
- 14:09and Hank broke up two years ago. They never could work things out.
- 14:11Beth had Hank to come back in town talk about a divorce. That's why
- 14:15it was here. Beth and I want to get married. Yeah. Did
- 14:18you see him when he was in town? Yeah, Sunday night we all
- 14:20had dinner here. Did you talk about the divorce. Yeah, Hank said
- 14:24it was all right with him if that's what Beth wanted. Sunday the only
- 14:26time you saw. That's right. I know you have to look into all
- 14:31sorts of things, but I didn't kill him. If that's what you're driving
- 14:33at. You own a raincoat, mis Brewer, sure like to see it.

- 14:52now, but I won't stand for this. I have a lawyer who might
- 14:54be able to make something out of your accusations. We aren't making any accusations,
- 14:58mister Bruer. Just looking for the thing. Well, I'll look for
- 15:01them someplace else. This is my home. And until you have a warrant
- 15:03or something, you have no right to come here. Whatever. Tell a
- 15:05police officer working on a homicide that he has no right to make inquiries.

- 24:56speaking, and remember you have a Thursday night date with Junior Miss on the
- 25:02CBS Radio network. H Welcome back, Well. I suspected the estranged wife
- 26:06until they let her sing in the show. I don't know what it is
- 26:10about most Golden Age productions, but I've never encountered one where a character sang
- 26:19a long song and turned it out to be a killer. Apparently, you
- 26:23know, singing isn't something that killers did. I did want to let you
- 26:30know that over a Great Detectives dot net this weekend. I do have an
- 26:37article posted. It's my review A Pattern of Wounds by j Mark bertrand one
- 26:42of my few reviews of modern mystery, so you can check that out Great
- 26:48Detectives dot Net. Also, I did get a question from a listener as
- 26:52to how long until we get to Dragnet. Well, the answer is twenty
- 26:57nine weeks, so should be July early August. And in the meantime we
- 27:04have nine more weeks of the Lineup, two weeks of Police Blotter, and
- 27:08eighteen weeks of Police Headquarters. But we're getting to the point where we're going
- 27:14to start Dragnet, and I know it's a bit of a wait, but
- 27:17Dragnety is just quite a lengthy series that I did want to get a few
- 27:22other procedurals in in the meantime. But we will be coming to Dragnet later
- 27:30on next summer. All right, Well, that will do it for today.
- 27:33We will be back on Monday with yours truly, Johnny Dollar, and
- 27:40then join us back here on Saturday for another episode of the Lineup. In
- 27:45the meantime, sendra comments to Box thirteen at Great Detectives dot net, follow
