- 0:09SPEAKER_03: We talk about the worst insults from Instagram and get your feedback.
- 0:14SPEAKER_03: England women, are they in serious trouble of relegation from the pro league?
- 0:18SPEAKER_03: What's the direction should they go in?
- 0:20SPEAKER_03: We get back into fictional betting and we finish off in the coupe with a real random Brendan question.
- 0:27SPEAKER_03: It's all coming next.
- 0:55SPEAKER_03: I say we're here, like me and Brett are here.
- 0:57SPEAKER_03: Yup's probably functioning, it seems at 30%.
- 1:01SPEAKER_03: Um he's come on, not said a word for two minutes.
- 1:05SPEAKER_03: Said he's been at work all day because he's now a working man.
- 1:08SPEAKER_03: Um, but I mean, Brett, me and Brent seem fairly excited to be here.
- 1:12SPEAKER_03: Um, you are you okay?
- 1:15SPEAKER_04: I'm I'm very okay.
- 1:17SPEAKER_04: I'm really I'm I'm okay.
- 1:19SPEAKER_04: It's just a bit of and you know what I think it is, it's a bit of bottled up frustration from the last two weeks.
- 1:25SPEAKER_04: Um yeah, because you both fucked off last few two times, so it's might it might be a bit of bottled up frustration about me leading and carrying and carrying this entire podcast.
- 1:41SPEAKER_01: Just let it go, let it go.
- 1:43SPEAKER_03: Nothing, nothing to do with entering the working world.
- 1:46SPEAKER_03: Okay, all good.
- 1:47SPEAKER_03: Brendan, how are you?
- 1:49SPEAKER_01: I'm good, mate.
- 1:50SPEAKER_01: I'm I'm genuinely spurred on by the fact that Yupe is so close to being on the closet.
- 1:54SPEAKER_01: I am spurred on.
- 1:56SPEAKER_04: What is spurred on?
- 1:58SPEAKER_01: I'm excited, I'm excitable, I'm ready.
- 2:00SPEAKER_01: Um it's bringing me more energy the fact that you're so close to being on the closet.
- 2:04SPEAKER_04: You obviously sound like you're horny sounds like you're horny, Brendan.
- 2:07SPEAKER_04: It's not really Brendan I'd like to see, to be honest.
- 2:11SPEAKER_01: Brendan, you didn't ever get to you going and in the mood, mate.
- 2:15SPEAKER_03: You didn't listen last week.
- 2:16SPEAKER_03: Um, just to fill you in on probably 30 seconds of footage.
- 2:21SPEAKER_03: I I had all of my comments about your first podcast, but the ones that you probably need to know is that you say the word interesting too much.
- 2:30SPEAKER_01: Me?
- 2:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, sounds about right.
- 2:33SPEAKER_03: Next one.
- 2:34SPEAKER_03: And um I want David Spade to play you in our movie.
- 2:38SPEAKER_01: Who's David Spade?
- 2:41SPEAKER_01: From from grown-ups.
- 2:42SPEAKER_01: Oh maze.
- 2:44SPEAKER_01: It's a maze.
- 2:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 2:48SPEAKER_01: Oh, that I don't know if that's no, I okay.
- 2:52SPEAKER_01: I I'd rather have someone like an Owen Wilson, but okay, that's fine.
- 2:55SPEAKER_02: Of course you'd rather have Wilson.
- 2:59SPEAKER_04: You know what's really interesting?
- 3:01SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 3:02SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 3:04unknown: Oh wow.
- 3:05SPEAKER_04: What I find interesting, Brendan.
- 3:07SPEAKER_04: Shut up.
- 3:08SPEAKER_04: Wait, now that Phil has said it, it's like I can't even listen to you anymore, Brendan.
- 3:15SPEAKER_04: I already had trouble listening to you.
- 3:16SPEAKER_04: I was gonna say you don't listen anyway, you asshole.
- 3:18SPEAKER_04: Right, next one, what are we on?
- 3:21SPEAKER_03: Okay, okay, we're on the edge.
- 3:23SPEAKER_03: Okay, right, we're gonna start start the episode.
- 3:26SPEAKER_03: Um, we'll start with the with the news.
- 3:27SPEAKER_03: Uh, we'll go through some of our fixtures before we get on to um the England hockey coming to kind of like the the next stage, the next phase in its league.
- 3:37SPEAKER_03: I'll I'll obviously bring in Yupe for his for his weekly feedback on how Arany Road got on.
- 3:44SPEAKER_03: Anything going on in the Hoofklasse League.
- 3:47SPEAKER_03: Um, if he's willing to talk and give us give us give us some updates.
- 3:54SPEAKER_04: Right now.
- 3:56SPEAKER_04: What do you start with it?
- 3:57SPEAKER_01: Yes, yeah, because then we can gloss over it quickly and then it's done.
- 4:01SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah, and afterwards we can talk about your shitty excuse of a league.
- 4:05SPEAKER_04: Okay, uh, is it even a league anymore?
- 4:07SPEAKER_04: So what the fuck are you guys doing?
- 4:09SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 4:10SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 4:11SPEAKER_01: You played we're in we're in two different tournaments.
- 4:13SPEAKER_01: I don't I don't know.
- 4:14SPEAKER_04: We're splitting into the game.
- 4:15SPEAKER_04: Yeah, you can play it.
- 4:16SPEAKER_04: You play it fucking Bowden, so you should shut the fuck up right now, Brendan.
- 4:21SPEAKER_04: Okay, hey you how many goals you scored the weekend?
- 4:26SPEAKER_04: Did you okay?
- 4:27SPEAKER_04: But that you have scored two goals says you think about your league.
- 4:31SPEAKER_04: Okay, I'll talk about what you wrote.
- 4:34SPEAKER_04: Uh we had a very interesting game against Nijmegen.
- 4:37SPEAKER_04: We won 5-4.
- 4:40SPEAKER_04: I think it was a really fun game to watch as a neutral.
- 4:43SPEAKER_04: Um as a neutral.
- 4:46SPEAKER_04: Uh, we were quite shite.
- 4:48SPEAKER_04: Well, it was like it was like a game.
- 4:51SPEAKER_04: Phil, I can talk to you.
- 4:53SPEAKER_04: It's like you play against Bowden, you're up 2-0, and you're like, these guys, and you're like, ah, this is gonna be an easy afternoon.
- 5:02SPEAKER_04: All of a sudden, random creep scores two goals, then you know you're in danger because it's you you think like, well, this this never happens.
- 5:11SPEAKER_04: So we got down 3-2.
- 5:13SPEAKER_04: In the end, we kind of like was eight minutes to play.
- 5:15SPEAKER_04: We got up 5-3.
- 5:17SPEAKER_04: I I gave a wanna have a laugh.
- 5:19SPEAKER_04: You don't have to speak Dutch, but look at my interview with VMA after the game.
- 5:25SPEAKER_04: Uh I'm I'm I'm gonna look for a for an image for you guys.
- 5:30SPEAKER_04: I was very annoyed to say the least because we completed four goals in tonight, and we're now uh at a winning 3-6 goals against in 60 games.
- 5:40SPEAKER_04: So um, yeah, I'm quite annoyed as as a defender.
- 5:46SPEAKER_04: Um, so yeah, that was my my weekend in a nutshell.
- 5:50SPEAKER_04: Annoyed, but with three points.
- 5:52SPEAKER_04: And that's all you can get on the weekend, right?
- 5:55SPEAKER_03: Yeah, if you were running if you just quickly, if you're running a news story from like Hockey NL about your weekend, would any of the headlines say like around your road or on the beach?
- 6:10SPEAKER_03: You know, like they don't think they can make playoffs, they're they're resting, they're chilling.
- 6:15SPEAKER_03: Would would that be a potential news story, or do you think that's too early to say that?
- 6:21SPEAKER_04: That's for sure too.
- 6:22SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna I'm gonna make here's a bet for you, Philip.
- 6:28SPEAKER_04: Heard it here first.
- 6:30SPEAKER_04: We are we are we are in uh a bit in um what's the thing in between heaven and hell?
- 6:38SPEAKER_04: Uh Sagittary?
- 6:40SPEAKER_04: No?
- 6:40SPEAKER_04: Predatory?
- 6:42SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 6:43SPEAKER_04: We're right now in between.
- 6:45SPEAKER_04: We're we're we're in between.
- 6:47SPEAKER_04: So the guys who are like trying to make playoffs think, ah, Orany Road, we don't have to worry about that team anymore.
- 6:53SPEAKER_04: And the teams below us think ah they're too far ahead to really gain.
- 6:57SPEAKER_04: Mark my words, we will make playoffs this year.
- 7:01SPEAKER_04: I think we're going on a run.
- 7:03SPEAKER_03: It's a big, I mean, we're not even at the betting section, but I can confirm.
- 7:07SPEAKER_03: Unfortunately, as much as I love you and Orany Road, I'm not taking that bet.
- 7:11SPEAKER_03: I'm not I'm not chucking my money away.
- 7:14SPEAKER_04: If if you this this is exactly what I need, is people betting against us.
- 7:20SPEAKER_04: This is like exactly what I need.
- 7:23SPEAKER_04: I want no one to bet on us, and I want everyone to write us off.
- 7:27SPEAKER_04: And one, because then the disappointment will be less, and two, because I really feel that we need that to make playoffs.
- 7:34SPEAKER_01: I've and just just looking at the like your fixtures you've got looking towards the end of the season, you genuinely feel it's in your hands to fuck it up, judging by the teams you're playing against, which is a real tough place to be because it means there's a lot of games that you should win.
- 7:53SPEAKER_04: Well, as I said, I'm a thousand percent sure.
- 7:57SPEAKER_04: Uh no, not okay.
- 7:58SPEAKER_04: I'm pretty sure we're gonna reach playoffs.
- 8:01SPEAKER_04: I'm very confident.
- 8:02SPEAKER_04: Uh, and to be honest, Brendan, who are you to judge what game you should win?
- 8:06SPEAKER_04: You're bottom of the bottom six.
- 8:08SPEAKER_04: Ah, like yeah, exactly.
- 8:10SPEAKER_03: Well, this is a lovely segue because if we'd have we probably would have been betting and putting all of our bets on Bowden going down this time last week, but in the double header they've just played, they they got four points from a possible six.
- 8:23SPEAKER_03: They went away, drew two all with East Grinstead, huge result, and then it was it was 11th versus 12th in the uh Richmond versus Bowden on the Sunday.
- 8:33SPEAKER_03: And uh I'll let Brendan take it away from here.
- 8:36SPEAKER_01: We snuck a two-on win.
- 8:38SPEAKER_01: It was Stoke City Thursday night, freezing cold, pelting it down with rain, backs to the walls, long ball football, beautiful.
- 8:46SPEAKER_01: Come away with four points at six.
- 8:48SPEAKER_01: And if you were watching the game, you'd turn it off because it was horrible to watch.
- 8:54SPEAKER_01: That is what that is what it's all about.
- 8:56SPEAKER_01: Scrapping every day of the week.
- 8:58SPEAKER_03: When you say long ball, does that mean you just get on every ball that's inside your own Harford area as far away as possible?
- 9:04SPEAKER_01: Phil, I'm not even joking.
- 9:06SPEAKER_01: It got to the point that that's exactly what happened.
- 9:09SPEAKER_01: It was not pretty to watch.
- 9:11SPEAKER_01: But having said that, the goals we actually scored were actually really nice.
- 9:14SPEAKER_01: Apart from mine, they were really nice.
- 9:16SPEAKER_01: Um we've done um, do you know what?
- 9:19SPEAKER_01: It's we didn't expect to get the result on Saturday and came away.
- 9:24SPEAKER_01: Overtime corner, they scored to make it two all.
- 9:26SPEAKER_01: So we were two on up.
- 9:28SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah, pretty.
- 9:30SPEAKER_01: Just do you know what?
- 9:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah, absolutely buzzing off the weekend.
- 9:34SPEAKER_01: My body feels terrible.
- 9:35SPEAKER_01: I'm not suited to double like back-to-back games anymore, can't do it.
- 9:40SPEAKER_01: But hey, four points out of six, and another six points for you as well, Phil?
- 9:44SPEAKER_03: Um, yeah, just another six, yeah, just another six.
- 9:48SPEAKER_03: We're now um 15 from 15, it's going pretty strong.
- 9:52SPEAKER_03: We played uh Oxtead, had a had a minor scare when um we went one-nil up within eight seconds.
- 9:59SPEAKER_03: I want to say like under 20 seconds.
- 10:01SPEAKER_03: Someone scored a tackle goal, which was unbelievable.
- 10:04SPEAKER_03: Chris Proctor scored a tackle goal, someone tried to pass it across their own goal, which doesn't make that much sense as to any way of thinking about it.
- 10:11SPEAKER_03: Scores a tackle goal.
- 10:12SPEAKER_03: We all start thinking this is going to be a walk in the park.
- 10:15SPEAKER_03: Their keeper then proceeds to make 10 saves in the next six minutes.
- 10:20SPEAKER_03: Um we're then 3-2, I think, at the half time, and then we uh we win 6-2.
- 10:25SPEAKER_03: And then we went over to Serbiton for a first versus second Yup's favourite team, the Serbie SEALs.
- 10:32SPEAKER_03: Um 3-1 down, uh having a having a fairly tough time of it.
- 10:39SPEAKER_03: David Ames hobbling, giving away strokes.
- 10:42SPEAKER_03: Um horrible, horrible, uh, horrible decisions from the umpires.
- 10:46SPEAKER_03: They had a they had a tough day at the office.
- 10:48SPEAKER_03: George Pinner decided to kick one straight to our straight to the Serbit and forward.
- 10:52SPEAKER_03: Also tough decision from him.
- 10:55SPEAKER_03: Um and then we came away 4-3 with a James Albury winner.
- 11:00SPEAKER_03: So another goal as well.
- 11:03SPEAKER_03: Another good test passed from from us.
- 11:06SPEAKER_04: Is uh Oxdad the chicken place?
- 11:10SPEAKER_03: Oxdad is the chicken place.
- 11:12SPEAKER_03: Very good memory, Yoop.
- 11:15SPEAKER_04: Ox the player today.
- 11:21SPEAKER_03: I don't know where you is, but um I thought I'd just very quickly say that we're coming to the end of the phase two of the English Hockey League, which means that we're gonna determine the top eight and the bottom four in our league.
- 11:35SPEAKER_03: Now, the bottom four, Brendan's gonna be fighting.
- 11:38SPEAKER_03: Uh, two two people get relegated from that bottom four, and then the top eight are fighting out for to go through to the finals.
- 11:46SPEAKER_03: Up okay.
- 11:50SPEAKER_01: You guys are ready split.
- 11:53SPEAKER_04: Top six, bottom six, right?
- 11:54SPEAKER_01: Hey, hey, don't worry, you we split again just to confuse you even more because it's so good for people who don't follow hockey.
- 12:01SPEAKER_04: Yeah, split you guys are so fucking thick up there, but it's it's like how can you make it so fucking complicated?
- 12:12SPEAKER_04: Like, you really want to make sure no one gives a shit about your leaker.
- 12:16SPEAKER_04: You're really trying to like the the the the the three dogs and two grandmas that still are are watching you guys are now also thinking, you know what fucking shit.
- 12:25SPEAKER_01: I'm trying I'm trying to find the explanation for how phase three works, but I can't find it at the moment.
- 12:30SPEAKER_03: It's it's um I got it here.
- 12:32SPEAKER_03: It says it's it's three additional matches per club.
- 12:34SPEAKER_04: Have a peak of twelve, play each other twice, have some playoffs.
- 12:38SPEAKER_04: It's like why reinvent the wheel?
- 12:41SPEAKER_04: It's so fucking like why drive on the right side of the road?
- 12:45SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 12:48SPEAKER_01: Let me give you let me give you some context to my weekend last weekend.
- 12:52SPEAKER_01: We woke up at 80.
- 12:54SPEAKER_01: We were on the on a minibus at 8.30 for a 4 pm game on Saturday, finish the game at 6, drive back five hours because we've got a game on Sunday at 2 pm at home.
- 13:10SPEAKER_01: Nice.
- 13:12SPEAKER_01: So this league system does not work.
- 13:17SPEAKER_04: I did I did already mention, and I still stand by it, is no one gives shit about bottom six, friend.
- 13:23SPEAKER_04: You you're the only one who gives a shit because you went there willingly as well.
- 13:27SPEAKER_04: I think there were other clubs who were like ready to take you on, and you chose the bottom of the bottom six.
- 13:34SPEAKER_04: Yeah, like no one gives a shit.
- 13:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but it makes it your system as a back-to-back, play everyone twice, home and away, works as a system.
- 13:45SPEAKER_01: Our system does not work, top six, bottom six, apart from it works for six teams.
- 13:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but Brett, get this right.
- 13:53SPEAKER_01: Get this.
- 13:53SPEAKER_01: If you win, your if you come top two of the bottom six, you then play three away games in the final four get in the in the final stage, phase three, right?
- 14:04SPEAKER_01: So if you win the whole time, so for example, OGs play three home games because they've won every single game, so they get rewarded for winning.
- 14:13SPEAKER_01: But if you're the bottom six, but you go into the top in the next phase into the top bit, you play three away games.
- 14:21SPEAKER_04: But number five and six of the of the top six, and the number one and two of the top uh of the bottom six.
- 14:28SPEAKER_04: They play for fuck all.
- 14:29SPEAKER_03: No, no, no, they can still win the league.
- 14:32SPEAKER_03: You right, Brendan, Brendan, give me a second.
- 14:34SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna try and try and do this.
- 14:36SPEAKER_04: When when we've finished our phase two, the first four stop talking about phase one, phase two, just just just do first start with twelve.
- 14:47SPEAKER_04: Right, okay.
- 14:48SPEAKER_04: Then it becomes a top six and a bottom six.
- 14:51SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and then after they play each other each time, the top six and bottom six just play five games against each other.
- 14:58SPEAKER_03: Okay, then the league the bottom two of the top two of the bottom two, it's first, fourth, fifth, and eighth go into a group again, and second, third, and sixth and seventh go into a group.
- 15:13SPEAKER_03: They play each other once again, and then the top two of them go through to the finals.
- 15:22SPEAKER_04: It's it's it's by a mile, and it's not even close.
- 15:27SPEAKER_04: The absolutely most fucking stupid thing I've ever heard.
- 15:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah, but can I can I can I add to it?
- 15:33SPEAKER_03: For absolutely fuck all reasons.
- 15:35SPEAKER_03: Can I add to it?
- 15:36SPEAKER_03: They've they've introduced that the finals this year are going to be in Beeston, which um and Beeston is in Nottingham, um, and they are highly unlikely to make the finals, and so therefore, it's probably most likely going to be four London clubs playing in the finals.
- 15:55SPEAKER_03: Now, first of all, Beeston's a very good setup in England, but does it make any sense to have four London clubs travel up to play playoffs there?
- 16:08SPEAKER_01: No, no, it's all right there, because they'll get a real big crowd down from the south, they'll travel.
- 16:17SPEAKER_04: I can really I really I really don't get it.
- 16:21SPEAKER_04: I think why why why guys seem to make it so much more complicated, and what what and what really binds my girls at the moment is that you do complain about oh no one watches at all we're so sad, but then you you you you come up with this this ridiculous fucking stupid plan to like it doesn't just make it simple, yeah.
- 16:52SPEAKER_03: Well what yeah, but but we didn't mean Brem weren't signing a room.
- 16:56SPEAKER_03: I mean we probably if Brem was signing a room, it'd probably be even more complicated than that.
- 17:00SPEAKER_03: He'd be there after four four hours and seven coffees, being like, lads, I've got it.
- 17:05SPEAKER_03: Right, the 16 teams.
- 17:07SPEAKER_04: Okay, the whole system is in the bottom four, play for the championship.
- 17:17SPEAKER_04: The whole system's shit.
- 17:19SPEAKER_03: Yeah, go back to go back to top, yeah.
- 17:23SPEAKER_03: I think best 10 teams, because we don't have 12 really good teams in our in our in the country.
- 17:28SPEAKER_03: So I think top 10 teams play home and away, play some playoffs.
- 17:32SPEAKER_03: Jobs are good.
- 17:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah, um all have to jump.
- 17:36SPEAKER_00: That's a really good idea.
- 17:37SPEAKER_01: Top 12 with the same principle, either either way it doesn't matter, but the bottom four then have to play.
- 17:41SPEAKER_01: That's a really good idea.
- 17:42SPEAKER_04: It's almost like almost like it's been thought of already by like the entire world.
- 17:50SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but you know, you know, the biggest proud we're too proud.
- 17:54SPEAKER_04: You almost you would think more teams do this.
- 17:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's stupid, eh?
- 17:59SPEAKER_03: Right, okay.
- 18:00SPEAKER_03: We've comprehensively said that the England hockey league needs some work in very polite terms.
- 18:07SPEAKER_03: And Brendan hasn't said interesting yet, so you know, we're on to a winner here.
- 18:11SPEAKER_00: Come on.
- 18:13SPEAKER_01: I'm very conscious of it.
- 18:16SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 18:16SPEAKER_03: Well, Brendan, you put out on Instagram um you you had the idea about getting your guys out there, listeners, uh, the worst insults from Instagram.
- 18:27SPEAKER_03: And uh a lot of you wrote in, so thank you.
- 18:30SPEAKER_03: First of all, we're not doing too much, you know.
- 18:32SPEAKER_03: You know, we don't ask too much, but it's always good when we get some lovely responses.
- 18:36SPEAKER_03: Brendan, you've collated the best ones.
- 18:40SPEAKER_03: Do you want to take it away?
- 18:42SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I do want to give like a special shout out to like there were quite a few people that had came in with like some genuinely serious ones, which I was a little bit worried about from like so one of, for example, one of the Olympic umpires said he received death threats, which I was like, that's pretty wild when you actually like obviously like the whole thing, it's just pretty fucking mental that it's got to that point.
- 19:04SPEAKER_01: Um, so like fair play for actually one messaging in clearly they listen, which is quite cool, but also yeah, it's a there's a serious point to it.
- 19:15SPEAKER_04: If you if you get death death threats as a referee, you must have been really, really shit given.
- 19:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah, or or you've and I can imagine, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was in a certain game in the Olympics where something big happened that ultimately led to a certain band of uh fans from a certain nation kicking off online, which makes me think of one team in particular, but we'll probably just leave that glossed over.
- 19:44SPEAKER_01: There's nothing to really worry about in that front.
- 19:47SPEAKER_01: Um, on to the actual insult.
- 19:49SPEAKER_04: You are so afraid of anyone or every anyone in the shins or whatever.
- 19:55SPEAKER_04: Rendon, just get out there, insult a couple people.
- 19:57SPEAKER_04: Who gives a shit?
- 20:00SPEAKER_01: But you I have no proof, so therefore I cannot give proof.
- 20:06SPEAKER_04: Okay, go on.
- 20:07SPEAKER_01: Thank you.
- 20:08SPEAKER_01: Um, so Eddie uh Eddie messaged in saying your parents are cousins, that's one he's received.
- 20:17SPEAKER_01: It's quite entertaining.
- 20:19SPEAKER_01: Uh Normsky B messaged in saying a uni university player used the fact that he has a mortgage as an insult because he's in his 30s, which I also thought was quite entertaining.
- 20:32SPEAKER_03: Okay, well, and the uni guy's just tax dodging.
- 20:34SPEAKER_03: Is that what he's saying?
- 20:35SPEAKER_03: Yeah, basically.
- 20:36SPEAKER_01: Or the uni guy's just telling him he's trying to tell him he's old by telling him he's got a mortgage.
- 20:40SPEAKER_01: Little does he know that the unigu is probably going to struggle to get a mortgage, but that's fair enough.
- 20:44SPEAKER_01: Um, you we had time villems messaging.
- 20:47SPEAKER_03: That's a pretty good uh that's a pretty good insult back though, isn't it?
- 20:52SPEAKER_03: It's a pretty loser insult back.
- 20:54SPEAKER_03: Have you seen the morning?
- 20:59SPEAKER_01: Make sure you choose variables.
- 21:02SPEAKER_03: Hey, have fun having a five percent interest rate in five years' time.
- 21:08SPEAKER_01: Um Tyne Willems messaged in you can you translate what Varkin's cop is?
- 21:15SPEAKER_04: Big head.
- 21:16SPEAKER_01: Oh, it's gonna be more entertaining than that.
- 21:20SPEAKER_01: But nice bit of Dutch there.
- 21:22SPEAKER_01: Um we had uh Ben O'Burke, a fat Alistair Cook, used to be an opener for England cricket, which I thought was quite entertaining.
- 21:31SPEAKER_01: Um Theo Gardner, our editor, once got told that he he looks like his mum makes a sloppy lasagna, which I thought was quite entertaining as an insult.
- 21:45SPEAKER_03: Do you reckon these people do you reckon these people go into a game being like I've got a really good insult that I can use against someone?
- 21:52SPEAKER_03: Or do you reckon it's just just off the cuff?
- 21:56SPEAKER_01: I think it's something they'll have heard in the week leading up to the game that they just want to.
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: Use because they thought it was quite funny.
- 22:02SPEAKER_01: Um I think so too.
- 22:04SPEAKER_01: Arnie VM uh messaged and saying, Not me personally, but a teammate at uni got told his hairline was living in the last century, which I also thought was quite entertaining.
- 22:14SPEAKER_01: That's pretty tough.
- 22:16SPEAKER_01: But I think my favorite goes to Max Lowry, who plays for EG, and he sent one in saying, You look like you own plastic garden furniture, which I thought was quite entertaining.
- 22:32SPEAKER_01: Um, which I thought was very, very good.
- 22:34SPEAKER_03: Um Brendan, you missed a couple because there's some good ones here that you missed.
- 22:39SPEAKER_01: Oh, feel free to feel free to rattle through them.
- 22:43SPEAKER_03: Onion1987 got a warning from an umpire for calling an opponent a yogurt.
- 22:51SPEAKER_03: Um the top of the D, Rossbone.
- 22:56SPEAKER_03: Um, don't worry, lads.
- 22:58SPEAKER_03: The keeper's good as he is thin.
- 23:02SPEAKER_03: Quite a large guy.
- 23:05SPEAKER_04: Um just got it.
- 23:08SPEAKER_01: Alright, I left Ollie Sutton out.
- 23:09SPEAKER_01: That's probably the best one.
- 23:11SPEAKER_03: Uh Ollie Sutton missed the one-on-one, and the defender said I couldn't finish a wank.
- 23:18SPEAKER_04: Okay, that's my humour.
- 23:19SPEAKER_04: That's I'm gonna start.
- 23:21SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna keep I'm gonna that's the one I'm gonna say.
- 23:24SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna keep it in the chair.
- 23:26SPEAKER_03: Did did either of you have a think about uh Alan Forsyth messaged in asking Brendan what happened to you Brooklyn's away?
- 23:33SPEAKER_03: Are you allowed to answer that?
- 23:36SPEAKER_01: Uh yeah, I I won't use what they said, but I picked the ball up to try and like make a point of the fact that I thought it was pretty offensive, and all that happened was they just continually called me the same insult.
- 23:48SPEAKER_01: So I so that didn't work, unfortunately.
- 23:50SPEAKER_01: I won't use the word.
- 23:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah, use the word.
- 23:53SPEAKER_01: No, it's not it's not an okay word to use, but yeah.
- 23:56SPEAKER_01: Renvil, what was it?
- 23:58SPEAKER_01: Nonce?
- 23:59SPEAKER_01: I'm not using the word, nonce?
- 24:03SPEAKER_01: No, because that would make me laugh.
- 24:06SPEAKER_01: Retort?
- 24:07SPEAKER_01: No, again, let's not play this game, it's not roulette.
- 24:11SPEAKER_04: Um, do you know the video of the guy that he's interviewing a kid?
- 24:16SPEAKER_04: This is this is a total sidebar.
- 24:18SPEAKER_04: He's interviewing a kid, the kid is being bullied, and he's asking, What do you what do they call you at school?
- 24:25SPEAKER_04: And he's like, Oh, yeah, he calls himself, and then the guy takes over and he starts naming him every word, every kind of word, like bad insult in the book.
- 24:32SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna send you the video, it's so good.
- 24:34SPEAKER_04: The listeners will know what I'm talking about.
- 24:36SPEAKER_04: We're gonna put it on our Instagram.
- 24:40SPEAKER_03: I I wish I remembered what name it was, but two two weeks ago, James Aubrey had a very similar situation to you, Brendan, where like he tries to kick off about something.
- 24:49SPEAKER_03: The assistant coach of Hampstead was calling him something, but I can't remember what it was.
- 24:54SPEAKER_03: It it didn't sound that bad to me, but they kept calling him him, and Orbs turned round to him and says, Say that one more time, and I'm reporting you.
- 25:01SPEAKER_03: And so the guy obviously said it one more time to him, and then Aubrey went up to the to the third umpire and was like, He's called me a name, I want him reported.
- 25:11SPEAKER_03: I was like, I was like, after the game, I was like, Orbs, I I'm not sure you're gonna get anything from that.
- 25:17SPEAKER_04: Yeah, so it's probably not gonna go that far, and you know you're gonna lose a lot of street bread as Aubrey if you've got a red out.
- 25:26SPEAKER_01: I know Orbs listen, so I'm sorry, mate.
- 25:27SPEAKER_01: You scared.
- 25:28SPEAKER_01: Give an explanation to what ropes is kicking off about to what ropes is making reference to Cardiff away.
- 25:33SPEAKER_01: Um, so what two weeks ago, halfway through the game, we were losing.
- 25:38SPEAKER_01: Um and thanks.
- 25:42SPEAKER_01: And um it went, you know, when like the crowd goes silent and someone says something and it just like pierces like through the air, and you hear it.
- 25:50SPEAKER_01: Someone basically went to me like, Oh, how was Paris to me?
- 25:54SPEAKER_01: And I was like, uh, I I just like it just hit a nerve in my head.
- 25:58SPEAKER_01: So I was like, in my head, I so I stopped, I literally stopped on the ball and just looked at the crowd that side, and they were like, Oh, we've got him here.
- 26:04SPEAKER_01: So, anyway, gets to the end of the game, and I just walk over to that section of the crowd and basically just like who said it?
- 26:11SPEAKER_01: And just called them out and was like, Who said it?
- 26:13SPEAKER_01: And they all just went really sheepish.
- 26:14SPEAKER_01: And I was like, Look, let's have an adult conversation about it.
- 26:17SPEAKER_01: Let's see, let's like if you've got the bullet, if you've got the bollocks to say, have the bollocks to own it, and they just no one really owned up to it.
- 26:24SPEAKER_01: And I was like, Oh, brilliant.
- 26:25SPEAKER_01: So I so one, I got the abuse, the person got away, and I look like a right bitch at the end of it.
- 26:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah, what were you gonna do if that thing is me?
- 26:35SPEAKER_03: I was just in the competition being like, What the fuck are you doing?
- 26:40SPEAKER_04: Fuck should it fuck should it?
- 26:41SPEAKER_04: Yeah, wasn't he wasn't really nice, was it?
- 26:46SPEAKER_03: That is what exactly what I asked Brendan when he told me.
- 26:48SPEAKER_03: Was like, what would have what was the win there?
- 26:51SPEAKER_01: And you were like, I feel I was in a I was I feel I was in a lose-lose situation to be honest.
- 26:56SPEAKER_01: So I was like, Well, if you're gonna go down, you might as well go down, mightn't you?
- 27:00SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, you were probably also at the point of like no return.
- 27:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah, absolutely.
- 27:05SPEAKER_04: I don't I in Holland we're pretty like the the the people watching are pretty civil.
- 27:10SPEAKER_04: I usually get I think I'm um I get a lot of insults thrown at me at national team.
- 27:18SPEAKER_04: Um, so our sec our our goalie, uh Derek Maier, he's now like uh he's battling for first spot, but he's an avid listener of the podcast.
- 27:28SPEAKER_04: He came up and he always says he's he's he shoots with hill, as we say in Dutch, so he makes a lot of jokes, but he is really really funny, especially for a goalie who are known to be not funny.
- 27:39SPEAKER_04: Um he actually came up with like the joke in Holland, uh, if like same as in England, but we have uh a brand that's called spa, uh and it's it's water.
- 27:51SPEAKER_04: Like in Holland or in England, you probably just order a sparkling water.
- 27:54SPEAKER_04: In Dutch, it's like pretty common to order a spa road, which is sparkling water.
- 28:00SPEAKER_04: Translated it's spa red.
- 28:04SPEAKER_04: He calls it spa you.
- 28:07SPEAKER_04: So everything that's like it's also it's pretty annoying because now it's kind of a thing that people say, oh, you want spa you?
- 28:16SPEAKER_04: And I kind of hate it, but I can't really I don't want to be on the closet about it.
- 28:20SPEAKER_04: Also, when there's a ginger kit anywhere close to a hockey field, it goes waterbull and there's my yellow say, Hey you can come train now, and it's really no one it hurts to be honest.
- 28:36SPEAKER_04: But I don't really know how to how to deal with it because I get on the closet very, very easily.
- 28:42SPEAKER_03: I think kryptonite is ginger jokes from from experience.
- 28:49SPEAKER_03: So don't hide that that well.
- 28:52SPEAKER_03: I have a lot of kryptonites, I think I have 45 X.
- 28:57SPEAKER_04: Um I'm I'm I'm oh if you can dish it, you're gonna be able to take it.
- 29:03SPEAKER_04: I dish it very well, I don't take it as well to be honest.
- 29:08SPEAKER_03: So yeah.
- 29:11SPEAKER_03: Brent, did you but did you have any more insults?
- 29:14SPEAKER_01: No, I get a lot of podcast chat, but it's quite dull.
- 29:17SPEAKER_01: I stick to podcasting.
- 29:19SPEAKER_01: I was like, yep, brilliant.
- 29:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah, magic.
- 29:22SPEAKER_01: Don't know if you get that film.
- 29:23SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, that's pretty standard.
- 29:25SPEAKER_04: Uh I don't find it.
- 29:27SPEAKER_04: I once I once only had had when I played Hages Sei away, um, they were down.
- 29:32SPEAKER_04: We we won 10 nil good old days.
- 29:36SPEAKER_04: Um, we we were winning, and then all of a sudden a group of young kids were yelling, so like same to you, Brent, were yelling, um uh hey you how was World Cup or you did you avoided World Cup and and and they were like 12-13, but I still got agitated and did like like the 10 with my hands like oh with, and then I thought, oh you you're almost 30 years old.
- 30:02SPEAKER_04: What a pathetic loser you are.
- 30:03SPEAKER_04: That you did you get yourself on the closet by a bunch of 12-year-olds who who probably are asking for like for like an autograph after.
- 30:13SPEAKER_05: That's so good.
- 30:16SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 30:17SPEAKER_03: Well, I think we've comprehensively done our worst worst insult.
- 30:22SPEAKER_03: So if we've got any more, we'll be back.
- 30:26SPEAKER_03: But we're gonna come back after a break.
- 30:28SPEAKER_03: See in a sec.
- 30:31SPEAKER_03: We're having arguments about our internet.
- 30:38SPEAKER_00: Could not be connected any higher.
- 30:41SPEAKER_03: We're try we're trying our best, but you know, we apologize for any connection problems you're you you're having here on Let's Tit Together.
- 30:48SPEAKER_03: It's all you demol's fault.
- 30:50SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 30:51SPEAKER_04: I tested my Wi-Fi and it said who didn't be more connected, so that's all I said.
- 30:57SPEAKER_04: Not my words, the Wi-Fi words.
- 31:00SPEAKER_03: Right, before we get on to some of our betting stuff, I just wanted to touch on some some real stuff.
- 31:07SPEAKER_03: The the there's definitely been some concern about the England women at the moment.
- 31:14SPEAKER_03: Basically, just wanted to touch on the fact and ask the question: are they in serious trouble um in the in the pro league and uh what the kind of future holds for them?
- 31:24SPEAKER_03: They're currently sat bottom of the pro league after eight games, having played China, Netherlands, India, and Belgium.
- 31:31SPEAKER_03: Um, there's been a really big kind of like changing of the guard from the from the women's squad.
- 31:37SPEAKER_03: We've had retirements from Giselle Ansley, Laura Roper, slash Unsworth, uh Sarah Robertson, Sarah Jones, and then people stepping away, such as Amy Costello, Anna Turman, Hannah Martin, Lily Owsley, Holly Webb.
- 31:56SPEAKER_03: So, you know, I think they might return, but we haven't seen them feature at all so far.
- 32:02SPEAKER_03: Um, there's a pretty big gap there, and and also, you know, to touch on, you know, they had a four-year period where you know there hasn't been a huge amount of success, and people are wondering what the kind of direction is.
- 32:17SPEAKER_03: Um I I both know you know two of the coaches and and rate them very highly, but what Brenn, you know, from your opinion, what what are you thinking about this?
- 32:27SPEAKER_01: I think I think we're probably seeing um if you look at most teams that have gone through cycles, they normally start bleeding players in that final year, even if they're not intended on taking them to the games, they normally bleed youngsters.
- 32:45SPEAKER_01: So then you've got like a bit of a platform to begin the next year at.
- 32:48SPEAKER_01: If you look at like all the teams that have basically come through who were predicted to do pretty well at the games from a men's point of view, you're looking at like if you think Belgium, yeah, they had a few youngsters playing India, youngsters, Netherlands youngsters, Germany youngsters, like all the teams have planned, which then means that when people inevitably step away post-games, there's enough people there that have got a few caps under their belt that then means the transition is nowhere near as uh aggressive, I guess I'd say.
- 33:16SPEAKER_01: Whereas I think that England women are unfortunately seeing basically a lack of playing people in the build-up or in the last four years or three years for this cycle that's just gone.
- 33:28SPEAKER_01: Like it's it's they're really seeing basically the negative effects of it in the fact that they've got a load of youngsters coming in who haven't necessarily had that international experience and are unfortunately paying the price for it in a in the roading table.
- 33:41SPEAKER_01: That's a that's probably where I'm sitting with it.
- 33:45SPEAKER_03: Um if if you were in if you were in charge, if you were the performance director of um GB in England and you had to you know try and try and do something, you know, there's normally there's there's the obvious things we talk about, the coaching carousel, you know, they've still got the same three coaches in place, again, I think all well-established good coaches.
- 34:06SPEAKER_03: But is it a case of when you've worked, and you you can jump in on this, like when you've worked with the same coaches for years and years, do you need a freshen up?
- 34:14SPEAKER_03: Do you need um introduced a different coach?
- 34:16SPEAKER_03: Do you need to, you know, like have you ever had you know two or three coaches consistently for more than four years in your in your international careers?
- 34:24SPEAKER_03: And why is that that we don't have it?
- 34:28SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah, I mean we've not, we've not as a men's side over the course of eight years.
- 34:35SPEAKER_01: We've had three different head coaches.
- 34:38SPEAKER_01: Um you're now on number four.
- 34:40SPEAKER_01: So I think there's like I don't I don't know if that's necessarily the case of getting rid, but what I do find interesting is there hasn't been a point where they've had a shake up in the last three, four years.
- 34:53SPEAKER_01: I think they've been quite consistent with their behaviors and how they've gone about everything.
- 34:57SPEAKER_01: Whereas like if you look at ours, an extreme from Danny to Revs is like, and probably similar from for you from um Max to your own, like there's there's a big change up in there that then means that like something's unfortunately, like for example, like I was a I guess a I say a casualty, but I was one of the players that got moved out for a youngster coming in.
- 35:19SPEAKER_01: But lo and behold, it's put England in a better stead going forwards.
- 35:22SPEAKER_01: So like sometimes you've got to be willing to do something a little bit different to give yourself an opportunity to find potentially better solutions that you don't necessarily might not agree with as an individual if you're involved in the system, but ultimately the aim of the game isn't to be comfortable, the aim of the game is to keep pushing to be better and better.
- 35:38SPEAKER_01: And I think that England, I think that whole setup potentially might have been just a bit too comfortable.
- 35:45SPEAKER_01: Don't know what you've taken on it is.
- 35:48SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I'm thinking like um I think there's pros and cons to having a coach for a longer period of time.
- 35:55SPEAKER_04: I think we're now in the second cycle of uh Yeroun, not Yorome, Yeroun, Delmay.
- 36:03SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 36:04SPEAKER_04: Yeah, guy, guy has won three Olympic gold medals, like you should know his name, Yeroun.
- 36:10SPEAKER_00: Why are you suddenly getting so sassy about it?
- 36:13SPEAKER_04: I'm not it just it just annoys me how much you butcher names.
- 36:16SPEAKER_04: Same as it kind of to be honest, uh like what I was thinking about more when you talked about this, and I noticed it's completely off topic and not the the direction you want to go and feel, but uh still gonna go there.
- 36:29SPEAKER_04: I really can't understand.
- 36:32SPEAKER_04: I'm re I've I've thought about it a lot.
- 36:34SPEAKER_04: Why do you guys get to have uh Scotland, Wales, and whatever other country uh for an Olympics there and not like why why why do you get it?
- 36:46SPEAKER_04: Why don't like what if all of a sudden Belgium and Holland say, you know what, fuck this shit.
- 36:51SPEAKER_04: We're gonna team up and we're gonna play Olympics.
- 36:53SPEAKER_04: That's not allowed, but you guys get to get some Scots and some uh Irish or whatever guys in.
- 36:59SPEAKER_04: How does that work?
- 37:02SPEAKER_03: That's a terrible segue.
- 37:06SPEAKER_03: Um no clue why.
- 37:08SPEAKER_03: No, not really.
- 37:09SPEAKER_03: I mean I can go through the I can go through what happens, but I don't know.
- 37:12SPEAKER_01: The annals of history if you want, but that benefits this conversation right now.
- 37:17SPEAKER_03: Well, but well, I mean my answer to you is that Holland and Belgium aren't one country, but the United Kingdom and Great Britain is classed as a country, but it has four countries in it.
- 37:31SPEAKER_03: Like it's not a country.
- 37:34SPEAKER_03: What is it then?
- 37:37SPEAKER_04: No one knows you you guys make up your fucking rules.
- 37:42SPEAKER_04: I don't know why, but everyone agrees with it.
- 37:45SPEAKER_04: Like it's it's stupid.
- 37:51SPEAKER_04: It really annoys me.
- 37:53SPEAKER_04: What doesn't annoy you today?
- 37:58SPEAKER_04: Fair, fair, but I just think it's ridiculous to be honest.
- 38:03SPEAKER_04: Your whole fucking island is ridiculous now that I think about it.
- 38:06SPEAKER_03: Well, I think what you touch on is the fact that I think a lot of players and um coaches and probably national governing bodies probably agree with you.
- 38:16SPEAKER_03: I would I would much prefer to play as Great Britain for four years than than split every every two years.
- 38:23SPEAKER_04: No, not all.
- 38:25SPEAKER_04: That's my point.
- 38:27SPEAKER_04: You guys should play as fucking England as as a whole, and not to be as GB, because that's not country.
- 38:34SPEAKER_01: No, no, no.
- 38:35SPEAKER_01: You want to tell you but it go the other way rather than the way you intend it to go.
- 38:41SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I want you guys to be the country like every other country, uh, to be England, not to be Great Britain, because then you just take, oh well, just add on Scotland, we'll add on uh whatever Wales.
- 38:57SPEAKER_04: That's not fair.
- 39:00SPEAKER_04: You chose to be Wales, Scotland, and England, then you stay Wales, Scotland, and not because of sports, it's convenient.
- 39:07SPEAKER_04: All of a sudden, you you you get another two countries and a couple good players in.
- 39:13SPEAKER_03: Convenient is the wrong word because it's it's it can be entirely inconvenient.
- 39:16SPEAKER_01: It can be incredibly inconvenient.
- 39:19SPEAKER_01: You know that you know that team that you have that you train with for four years and you play with the same team the whole time, same tactics, everything else.
- 39:26SPEAKER_01: You know that doesn't work in the GB system, don't you?
- 39:30SPEAKER_04: I know, but I didn't choose for you guys to do it.
- 39:33SPEAKER_04: You just choose to do it.
- 39:35SPEAKER_01: I understand that, but then it's not convenient, is it then?
- 39:38SPEAKER_03: How did we choose to do it?
- 39:40SPEAKER_01: You think the players just came in and been like, oh, sign a form at the start of every four-year cycle.
- 39:45SPEAKER_01: Tick yes if you want to be a big part of GB, tick no if you want to be individual nations.
- 39:51SPEAKER_04: If England hockey, GB hockey, and whatever, all the all the fuckers around say, okay, let's just like every other normal country, island, whatever, we'll just split up like everyone else to make it even.
- 40:03SPEAKER_04: I think it would no one would complain.
- 40:06SPEAKER_04: You you guys just hide guide the fact that you can complain, or you know it's it's uh it's uh it's an advantage over everyone else that you had to compete with for that question about a coach staying on for more than four years.
- 40:20SPEAKER_04: Uh I think it's uh I think it's it's uh yeah, it has its ups, it has his has its downs.
- 40:27SPEAKER_04: Uh uh.
- 40:30SPEAKER_01: So you've offered no answer.
- 40:33SPEAKER_01: All you wanted to do was have a go at us for being British.
- 40:36SPEAKER_01: That was it.
- 40:37SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 40:38SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 40:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah, thanks for it.
- 40:42SPEAKER_03: Thanks for comprehensively answering my question.
- 40:44SPEAKER_03: Do you feel better for that, you know?
- 40:48SPEAKER_04: Kind of is a relief.
- 40:50SPEAKER_04: No, I'm glad.
- 40:51SPEAKER_04: I'm glad.
- 40:56SPEAKER_01: Sometimes kids just want to throw a tantrum.
- 41:00SPEAKER_03: Brendan, I'll finish off by just asking you again if you were the performer director.
- 41:05SPEAKER_03: What are you what are you doing?
- 41:07SPEAKER_01: Um if I if I'd question, I'd have questioned what the plan was two years ago with the group, because I think that there was an opportunity to potentially bring in youngsters and they didn't.
- 41:19SPEAKER_01: Um now it's a case of right, what is the plan for the next six years, not four, six years, because there needs to be a longer term plan rather than get through a cycle and you're then basically leaving whoever comes into the job in a shitter position than when you found it.
- 41:34SPEAKER_01: I think there's got to be a longer-term plan rather than it being a four-year cycle thing.
- 41:38SPEAKER_01: It's got to be um longer term for me.
- 41:41SPEAKER_01: And I probably would have a shakeup of right, if the older people are leaving, are they gonna come back or are we do we just actually just go right, scrap it, and we're gonna build and almost do a Belgian men and just go, right, what's the plan?
- 41:53SPEAKER_01: How many youngsters are we bringing in?
- 41:54SPEAKER_01: Right, okay, we'll bring in this group.
- 41:56SPEAKER_01: Because if you look at Belgian men, everybody thought there was going to be a massive drop-off after the Olympics.
- 42:02SPEAKER_01: Because they thought all the old boys were gonna stop, new group coming in, weren't gonna be ready, and they were gonna get boshed around a little bit.
- 42:08SPEAKER_01: They're second in the pro league.
- 42:10SPEAKER_01: A few of the older guys have stuck around, and they've now got a coaching setup that's now built up.
- 42:16SPEAKER_01: Um, so for me, that's kind of like a model of right, they were actually planning for this.
- 42:20SPEAKER_01: Whereas I think if you look at the England women, yeah, I think there was a plan.
- 42:25SPEAKER_03: Personally, yeah, there is obviously there's there's there's a few more complications again with with how we work because the UK funding, the sport funding, you know, they want success now.
- 42:35SPEAKER_03: There's there's markers that they have to meet, so you can't just chuck everything out and start again.
- 42:41SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I also can argue with myself because there's you want consistency, consistency can sometimes be be great, but you need to work out a way to, like you said, shake things up and make sure that players both feel confident and under pressure at the same time.
- 42:56SPEAKER_01: Um I do have a question for you.
- 42:58SPEAKER_01: So obviously, our system is based around funding from UK sport point of view, but how much is how much is generated from sponsorship?
- 43:06SPEAKER_01: Because surely that makes a big difference as to what you can provide and what can be brought in from a financial point of view.
- 43:12SPEAKER_01: Because if you look at like the US model, for example, isn't based at all on um government funding, it's all based around donors putting money in.
- 43:23SPEAKER_01: So then like the system's completely different.
- 43:25SPEAKER_01: There's positives and negatives to both.
- 43:27SPEAKER_01: But I just think it's interesting that we talk about UK sport funding, but there's been no headline sponsors for the past four, six years in the men's game since 2014.
- 43:37SPEAKER_01: So then there's like the question is for me is okay, well, financially, we haven't necessarily helped ourselves.
- 43:44SPEAKER_01: So now you're in a position where funding has been cut because it was always going to be cut post Olympics.
- 43:49SPEAKER_01: But was there necessarily a longer term plan of how do you support or how do you supplement program?
- 43:55SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 43:56SPEAKER_01: I mean, it's fair.
- 44:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, brilliant.
- 44:01SPEAKER_01: What a sponsor that is, because it's a bank.
- 44:03SPEAKER_01: Cash flow is not an issue.
- 44:08SPEAKER_04: That is really interesting.
- 44:12SPEAKER_05: How did I say it?
- 44:13SPEAKER_05: Fuck.
- 44:16SPEAKER_00: You're an arsehole.
- 44:18SPEAKER_00: Stop being a knob.
- 44:19SPEAKER_01: I made a good point, and you just throw it back in the grill.
- 44:24SPEAKER_04: No, it's it's still a good point, and it it is very interesting.
- 44:32SPEAKER_03: Oh god, right.
- 44:33SPEAKER_03: We're on to we're gonna move on to the betting section.
- 44:38SPEAKER_03: Brendan, you missed this last week.
- 44:40SPEAKER_03: We we we each make one or two bets each, and we either if we if the other ones would back the bet or not.
- 44:47SPEAKER_03: You I'm guessing you don't have a bet because of your current mood and status.
- 44:54SPEAKER_04: No.
- 44:55SPEAKER_04: Okay, okay.
- 44:56SPEAKER_04: What I don't get about you, Philip, is you no, you know, you you I'm new, I said out you now.
- 45:04SPEAKER_04: Before the episode that I really said, I didn't think of a bet.
- 45:08SPEAKER_04: And now you go on the podcast.
- 45:10SPEAKER_04: Oh, I guess you didn't have a bet ready, dude, because of your mood.
- 45:13SPEAKER_04: It has nothing to do with my mood.
- 45:15SPEAKER_04: Absolutely fuck all.
- 45:16SPEAKER_04: It's just that everything to do with your application.
- 45:20SPEAKER_04: Well, I've I prepared other shit.
- 45:22SPEAKER_04: If you just start with the bet, I'm sure because I'm ex extremely quick on my feet and think uh like uh uh agile, I'll think of an amazing bet that will blow both of yours out of the water.
- 45:34SPEAKER_04: So you start with your stupid little bet, and I'll come up with a better one.
- 45:38SPEAKER_03: Coaches, if I was coaching you, I think I'd have to go about it from a loving way.
- 45:43SPEAKER_03: Because you know, crit criticism, it doesn't quite bounce off you.
- 45:47SPEAKER_03: So great point, you great point.
- 45:50SPEAKER_03: I appreciate all of the feedback.
- 45:52SPEAKER_03: I think you are looking beautiful tonight, and I will get on with my bet.
- 45:56SPEAKER_04: Phil fucking roper.
- 45:58SPEAKER_04: I'm handle criticism like the best of them, just not from you or Brendan.
- 46:04SPEAKER_04: Okay, my first bet don't take criticism from shut up, shut up.
- 46:12SPEAKER_03: My first bet is that Gantois.
- 46:16SPEAKER_03: I'm I'm chucking a few quid on this.
- 46:18SPEAKER_03: Ganto women and men win the EHL.
- 46:24SPEAKER_03: What the fuck?
- 46:26SPEAKER_03: Men maybe.
- 46:28SPEAKER_01: Men maybe.
- 46:30SPEAKER_03: Women look if someone gave me a little double and they said it's a couple of quid, and you I don't know, I don't know what we're saying.
- 46:37SPEAKER_03: Like 20 to 1.
- 46:40SPEAKER_03: You said you're sticking a pound on that?
- 46:42SPEAKER_01: No.
- 46:43SPEAKER_03: I looked at their draw today.
- 46:45SPEAKER_03: Gantwell women are already in the final eight.
- 46:48SPEAKER_03: They wouldn't cross over with a Dutch team until the final.
- 46:51SPEAKER_01: Where they'd lose.
- 46:53SPEAKER_03: I'm pretty sure they've got quite a good team.
- 46:56SPEAKER_03: And stuff can happen, stuff's happening.
- 46:58SPEAKER_03: Belgium, Belgium, and Belgian women, they're coming.
- 47:01SPEAKER_03: And Gantois men, again, I don't think they're that's what she said.
- 47:07SPEAKER_03: Gantua men, this they've they've signed Hendricks.
- 47:10SPEAKER_03: When whenever you've got him in your team, there's there's there's a a chance of you winning a game because you can just win a couple of corners.
- 47:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'll give you the I'll give you the um the men.
- 47:21SPEAKER_01: I think men have got a decent shout.
- 47:23SPEAKER_01: I just don't think the women do.
- 47:24SPEAKER_01: The Dutch women's sides are too good.
- 47:26SPEAKER_01: I feel that's a couple of quid tossed down the drain.
- 47:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah, well, well, who am I to to not like I'm a real optimist, so if I could bet one one dollar and gain 20, like why not?
- 47:40SPEAKER_04: I would I wouldn't even check the scores because I've just thrown away a dollar, to be honest.
- 47:47SPEAKER_04: Never gonna happen.
- 47:48SPEAKER_03: Okay, there you go.
- 47:49SPEAKER_03: There's my maybe we should do some kind of like official system here where we actually write down bets and we put them on, and then we could maybe see at the end of the season who actually gets money back.
- 48:01SPEAKER_04: Are we even allowed to talk about this kind of bets?
- 48:04SPEAKER_03: No idea.
- 48:05SPEAKER_03: No idea.
- 48:07SPEAKER_03: It's fictional, it's like million doll million dollar bets.
- 48:11SPEAKER_03: Yeah, fair.
- 48:12SPEAKER_03: All fictional guys.
- 48:16SPEAKER_04: I have a good now.
- 48:17SPEAKER_04: That we're talking about Gantwas, I have a uh uh a good bet.
- 48:22SPEAKER_04: Um what are your odds?
- 48:25SPEAKER_04: Or like what would you bet on Kina getting a yellow card in EHL?
- 48:32SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 48:35SPEAKER_01: That's a one to ten, isn't it, rather than a ten to one?
- 48:38SPEAKER_04: Nah, that's like uh you guys do one to ten.
- 48:41SPEAKER_04: I think it's like a zero, like a one point zero five odd.
- 48:45SPEAKER_04: Wouldn't get a lot of return.
- 48:47SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you yeah, you'd have to lump on that to get any returns.
- 48:52SPEAKER_04: To get any real worthwhile returns.
- 48:54SPEAKER_04: I think I think mods will be highly like especially for talking.
- 49:00SPEAKER_04: We can set the north because the ref is shit, and he'll probably get a yellow card for talking.
- 49:10SPEAKER_03: That'd be the same.
- 49:11SPEAKER_03: I wish I wish Rot Vice were in it, so you could be like, We'll do it, we'll do a triple.
- 49:16SPEAKER_03: It'd be like um Antoine Kina and who else?
- 49:21SPEAKER_04: One of the French blokes.
- 49:23SPEAKER_03: One of the French blokes getting a card.
- 49:25SPEAKER_01: A French player.
- 49:31SPEAKER_04: What are the odds of you getting a yellow card?
- 49:34SPEAKER_04: Oh for either complaining to a ref or for antagonizing him with the rope of death stare.
- 49:42SPEAKER_03: I think I think you're getting good odds on that.
- 49:44SPEAKER_04: Like good or two on that though.
- 49:47SPEAKER_04: Would you?
- 49:47SPEAKER_04: Yeah, me too.
- 49:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I reckon there's a chance because it's probably pretty high odds.
- 49:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah, because the odds will be pretty decent.
- 49:53SPEAKER_01: I'd fancy it because it's one of those outside bets that you'd be like, oh, yeah, probably put a quid on that.
- 49:58SPEAKER_04: I can see that.
- 49:59SPEAKER_04: Do you think uh all Georgians actually have a shot, Brendan, at winning EHR?
- 50:04SPEAKER_01: I actually spoke to Phil earlier this week about it.
- 50:07SPEAKER_01: I think they've got a good shot.
- 50:08SPEAKER_01: Um the team is very, very good.
- 50:11SPEAKER_01: Like, there's no like messing around.
- 50:13SPEAKER_01: But what is different, I think, to previous years is the fact that they feel like an all-round team now where they've got every base covered and the guys that are coming on are good as well.
- 50:24SPEAKER_01: Um, it would be really interesting to see where they'd sit if they were in the Dutch League.
- 50:28SPEAKER_01: Because I think they'd be top four, if not top two, from uh like having played against it in a very unenjoyable game.
- 50:36SPEAKER_01: You you can give it full beans, but you just don't know, mate.
- 50:40SPEAKER_01: You don't know because you're sat in fifth at the moment.
- 50:41SPEAKER_01: You don't know what the top two feels like.
- 50:43SPEAKER_03: I think you might be sixth.
- 50:45SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah.
- 50:47SPEAKER_04: Last year, we were top of the league ended second of the league.
- 50:51SPEAKER_04: So I do know what what it feels like to be top two, uh Brendan, with your with your bottom bottom six being sixth.
- 50:59SPEAKER_04: Um, I think, to be honest, uh you guys would be in a solid seventh or eighth spot in the Dutch league, to be honest.
- 51:08SPEAKER_04: And you know what?
- 51:09SPEAKER_04: We'll see how the top of the league in England matches up against number five in the Dutch League, Rotterdam.
- 51:15SPEAKER_04: And um, my prediction is it will be a 4-1 win for Rotterdam, even though I'm coming uh to support Phil and Phil only.
- 51:26SPEAKER_03: So, so um also that I mean that's gonna be a really interesting matchup because also Rotterdam have just decided to start beating everyone.
- 51:34SPEAKER_03: So they beat Blue last week.
- 51:39SPEAKER_03: Say again, Brent.
- 51:40SPEAKER_01: Perfectly lines up into your second one off the back of the weekend.
- 51:46SPEAKER_03: Yeah, anyway.
- 51:47SPEAKER_03: Well, maybe that's the type of hate that I needed, and we need as OGs the absolute, absolute Dutch, classic Dutch arrogance over there, who thinks that only Dutch teams are good.
- 51:58SPEAKER_03: So, but I mean we already knew that, so that's fine.
- 52:01SPEAKER_04: I don't think only teams out uh rate the Bell team's very high, German team very high, just don't rate each team's very high, Philip.
- 52:09SPEAKER_04: Don't be on Calimero and say, Oh, no one cares about us.
- 52:13SPEAKER_04: Why should why would we care about you?
- 52:15SPEAKER_04: You you've done fuck all in in in uh in international club hockey for the last 50 years.
- 52:21SPEAKER_04: Why would anyone give a shit?
- 52:27SPEAKER_00: Didn't OGs come third last year?
- 52:29SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 52:32SPEAKER_01: And the Dutch and the Dutch competition, and the only team reason Pincae won the thing was because Hendrix was playing.
- 52:38SPEAKER_01: You see how bad Pinnacle have been this year without him.
- 52:41SPEAKER_01: So that's a Belgian, it's not even Dutch company.
- 52:43SPEAKER_04: The only reason OGs is good is because Sam Walt scores every goal.
- 52:46SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that's a fucking stupid reason, Brendan.
- 52:48SPEAKER_04: Well, it's not, it's an Englishman playing for an English final.
- 52:53SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that's got you there, but exactly my point is like no, no, it's not.
- 52:59SPEAKER_04: That's exactly my point, you clown.
- 53:01SPEAKER_04: It is you say because of because of one player and team is good, yeah.
- 53:06SPEAKER_01: Because an English player is playing for an English team, not a Belgian playing for a Dutch team.
- 53:13SPEAKER_04: I can't help that no one, like absolutely no one who has any any any gives a shit about hockey would want to move to England to play hockey.
- 53:22SPEAKER_04: Like, like that's not my bet.
- 53:25SPEAKER_04: Because everyone wants to play I'm the bad guy.
- 53:29SPEAKER_01: This is this is officially you on the closet, by the way.
- 53:33SPEAKER_01: I thought you were teetering earlier, but you've officially lost it today.
- 53:36SPEAKER_02: I don't know, I don't understand what's happened, but alright, fine.
- 53:39SPEAKER_02: We'll get on.
- 53:40SPEAKER_02: Brendan, do you have a bet?
- 53:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you should not be allowed to work in the working world.
- 53:46SPEAKER_01: That's what I've learned this evening.
- 53:49SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah, I actually do have one.
- 53:51SPEAKER_01: Belgian men to be the next number one, to be the world number one leading into um LA 28.
- 54:00SPEAKER_03: I'm not gonna lie, it's a boring, it's a boring bet.
- 54:03SPEAKER_03: What do you mean it's a boring bet?
- 54:07SPEAKER_00: Why is it a boring bet?
- 54:08SPEAKER_00: It's just a boring bet.
- 54:10SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 54:11SPEAKER_00: Do you know do you never put one on from distance?
- 54:15SPEAKER_01: Like start of the season, you put on like United to win the someone like Verstappen to win the F1 and someone else to win something else.
- 54:21SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
- 54:22SPEAKER_01: Like that kind of this is a four-year in the making one where the odds are a little tasty.
- 54:26SPEAKER_01: Three years, and then it catches you out of the blue.
- 54:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but you're acting like you are you're acting like you're betting on Stoke City becoming Premier League champions.
- 54:36SPEAKER_04: It's like a really, really good team with really, really good players.
- 54:39SPEAKER_04: Like, yeah, they're they're they're they're top three right now, and you're betting on them to be top one.
- 54:44SPEAKER_04: Like that's not the hots are probably not that high.
- 54:46SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah, it's not an out there.
- 54:48SPEAKER_03: That's the thing, it's not an out there bet.
- 54:49SPEAKER_03: It's not like you're catching me and you puff guard being like, oh god, what a crazy bet that is.
- 54:53SPEAKER_04: Holy fuck, Brandon.
- 54:55SPEAKER_04: Are you really?
- 54:59SPEAKER_04: You know what?
- 55:01SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna, I'm gonna also do a bet.
- 55:03SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna say OGs will win the English Premier League.
- 55:09SPEAKER_04: No fucking way you're kidding me.
- 55:11SPEAKER_04: You must be fucking mental.
- 55:15SPEAKER_03: That is an interesting bet.
- 55:17SPEAKER_03: That is really interesting.
- 55:20SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna go out there with a bet.
- 55:22SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna say Serviton will win in the English league.
- 55:26SPEAKER_04: I think the pressure on the star dotted team of OGs will be really high.
- 55:32SPEAKER_04: The disappointment of losing 8-0 to Rotterdam in the in the Hil.
- 55:38SPEAKER_04: I'm really rooting for you, to be honest.
- 55:40SPEAKER_04: Because also I'm a bit done with Rotterdam winning winning a lot right now, and I feel that they need to be be put in their place.
- 55:46SPEAKER_04: And I hope, I don't think, but I hope you guys will do it.
- 55:50SPEAKER_03: Do you know there is there is a good bet here, Brent, just to bring you back in.
- 55:53SPEAKER_03: It's that like Bowden will stay up.
- 55:56SPEAKER_03: Because you know, like we we did write you off a week or two ago, and now you're in a nice place where you go into to the last four games, and you've got a real shot of staying up.
- 56:06SPEAKER_04: I will put money on that for Bowden to stay in.
- 56:09SPEAKER_04: We can what they've grown on me, and I'm kind of becoming Fen Brent, to be honest.
- 56:17SPEAKER_01: I I'll genuinely want to show you like highlights from the weekend, and it is literally just the ball flying over the top, no midfield play.
- 56:27SPEAKER_03: I can imagine you getting completely on board, turning up, buying you buying a bone shirt, getting what getting some of them like clappers to like go off and just become annoying.
- 56:36SPEAKER_01: There's players in the crowd before every game.
- 56:38SPEAKER_04: And there's a drilling and then yelling somewhat in the third quarter, Brendan Hall, a sparrows.
- 56:48SPEAKER_03: I did have one more bet before we move on to the coop, and that was um Bloom and Down men don't win anything this season.
- 56:55SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I uh I would put some uh put some money on that.
- 57:00SPEAKER_01: Alright, and do you know what?
- 57:01SPEAKER_01: I would too.
- 57:03SPEAKER_04: I wouldn't road will win the league.
- 57:07SPEAKER_01: No, I'd win any money on it.
- 57:12SPEAKER_04: Mate, you've got to get the playoffs before you win the league.
- 57:17SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I know Britain.
- 57:21SPEAKER_03: Only well, my my my reasoning for it was that I think that they still have a ridiculously stacked team, Blumendale do, but there's still a bit of a a gap in the team, I think, that Arthur Van Doren and Brinkman left.
- 57:34SPEAKER_03: And so when like push comes to shove and it gets them real pressure moments, I think they're gonna be relying on new guys.
- 57:41SPEAKER_03: And even though they have the quality, I just don't know if if if it's if it's quite time for them, or maybe that's next year that they start winning everything again.
- 57:50SPEAKER_01: I'll tell you what has been quite cool to watch is watching Ephraim's actually.
- 57:53SPEAKER_01: He looks he looks fucking good for them.
- 57:56SPEAKER_01: He looks like a seriously good striker for him.
- 58:00SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 58:01SPEAKER_03: That's enough hockey, or enough normal hockey.
- 58:05SPEAKER_03: Let's get on to the coop.
- 58:10SPEAKER_03: Which I think Brendan and Yupe, if you're gonna allow it, Brendan's got a coop question too.
- 58:18SPEAKER_01: Off you go, Brendan.
- 58:20SPEAKER_01: You're a burglar, but you can only steal things that are mildly inconvenient for your victims.
- 58:26SPEAKER_01: What are you stealing?
- 58:30SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna go first.
- 58:32SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna say shelves in the cupboards.
- 58:35SPEAKER_01: Just the shelves.
- 58:37SPEAKER_01: I feel that's such an inconvenience that you can't put loads of things in the shelves.
- 58:41SPEAKER_01: You've only got one shelf to put things on in the cupboards, it would drive people insane.
- 58:47SPEAKER_01: Can I steal two things?
- 58:53SPEAKER_04: I would steal uh both all the toilet paper, uh everything considered paper and the towels.
- 59:04SPEAKER_04: Towels is an annoying one, that would be so infuriating.
- 59:08SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I'm just thinking, yeah, I know why you're thinking, I'm thinking, I know why you're thinking towels be would be very inconvenient, Brendan.
- 59:14SPEAKER_01: You're thinking of the set oh grow up, mate.
- 59:18SPEAKER_04: I know how vital a towel is in the corner of your room.
- 59:21SPEAKER_04: We all know.
- 59:24SPEAKER_04: I'm thinking more if you if you really have to shit, what's your next option if there's no toilet?
- 59:30SPEAKER_01: No, I understood that bit, you clown.
- 59:33SPEAKER_04: Oh, um, okay, sorry.
- 59:36SPEAKER_04: You're covering all bases.
- 59:38SPEAKER_04: Are you going for books?
- 59:40SPEAKER_03: I'm thinking of just being a being an antagonist, and I'd like I'd like pour lots of dirt all over the floor, and then I'd steal all the dustpan and brushes and the hoovers.
- 59:52SPEAKER_03: And then I'd and then I'd leave.
- 59:54SPEAKER_01: That's annoying.
- 59:55SPEAKER_01: That is annoying.
- 59:57SPEAKER_01: Do you want another one that do you want do you want the other thing I'd potentially steal?
- 1:00:00SPEAKER_01: The Wi-Fi router.
- 1:00:01SPEAKER_01: That would drive me insane, I think.
- 1:00:04SPEAKER_03: That's not my that's not mildly inconvenienced, though, is it?
- 1:00:06SPEAKER_01: That's like well it is because you've still got everything.
- 1:00:08SPEAKER_01: The only thing that someone's taken is just a little box, or maybe the wire that connects the Wi-Fi router to the wife to the actual like electricity, the power cable.
- 1:00:19SPEAKER_01: There has to be something.
- 1:00:21SPEAKER_01: I feel Nicole's got something.
- 1:00:23SPEAKER_01: She does.
- 1:00:25SPEAKER_03: She does.
- 1:00:26SPEAKER_03: Nicole, what would mildly inconvenience you if someone came in and burgled the house?
- 1:00:33SPEAKER_04: The kids.
- 1:00:42SPEAKER_02: Not not me, because I don't drink tea, but for you.
- 1:00:44SPEAKER_02: Teaspoons.
- 1:00:46SPEAKER_03: Teaspoons.
- 1:00:47SPEAKER_03: Spoons.
- 1:00:48SPEAKER_01: No, it have to be and big spoons as well, so then you really would struggle.
- 1:00:52SPEAKER_02: Teaspoons, because I feel like it'd be annoying having to make a cup of tea with a messy spoon.
- 1:00:58SPEAKER_00: That's a rap call, that's a real personal problem.
- 1:01:02SPEAKER_02: Such an English thing as well.
- 1:01:04SPEAKER_02: You've got such a puzzled look on his face.
- 1:01:07SPEAKER_04: That's so nice.
- 1:01:09SPEAKER_04: I would you know why?
- 1:01:11SPEAKER_04: Because I would not even notice the teaspoons being run in my house.
- 1:01:16SPEAKER_04: Like, there would come one time that someone is here and asks for tea, and you they were like, Because we also don't do we don't even use a teaspoon for tea in Holland now that I think of it.
- 1:01:28SPEAKER_04: We don't you know why we use teaspoons?
- 1:01:31SPEAKER_04: Yeah, we just do like the the the ball sack thing where you just dip it in and out the whole time.
- 1:01:37SPEAKER_03: You've got the little piece of card that you uh dip your tea in.
- 1:01:43SPEAKER_03: Yeah, dip the balls in the water.
- 1:01:45SPEAKER_04: Um that's why you're not English.
- 1:01:47SPEAKER_04: Hey, right?
- 1:01:48SPEAKER_04: That's no, that's definitely why I'm not English.
- 1:01:52SPEAKER_03: I would also Well where we ask the listeners, what if you were to get burgled?
- 1:01:58SPEAKER_01: What would be inconvenient for you to have stolen?
- 1:02:02SPEAKER_03: Best well, best answer.
- 1:02:04SPEAKER_03: If you write in to us, right, and it's a really good one, and me, you and Brennan laugh, we'll send you something.
- 1:02:11SPEAKER_04: Yeah, we'll send you something.
- 1:02:13SPEAKER_04: Um, you know what also would be very mildly inconvenient is to take out the locks of the not of the like the the main door, but of like the toilet door, the bathroom.
- 1:02:25SPEAKER_04: So that if you have company and you have to take a shit, like you feel very rushed.
- 1:02:32SPEAKER_04: You cannot take a relaxed shit anymore.
- 1:02:34SPEAKER_04: Already like oh will someone walk in while I'll take a shit.
- 1:02:39SPEAKER_03: What about what about like gluing your shower setting to the worst worst setting that it that it fires out?
- 1:02:46SPEAKER_03: So you just go in and you just get the worst shower setting and you come out a warm shower set, a warm shower, or the adapter, so that yeah, the adapter.
- 1:02:55SPEAKER_04: Yeah, they have the shower that you can put it higher and lower, but then it's like set at exactly an annoying that you have to like bend over just a little bit.
- 1:03:02SPEAKER_04: That's also very annoying.
- 1:03:05SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 1:03:05SPEAKER_04: Let's move on to the next coop.
- 1:03:07SPEAKER_04: You have you got one?
- 1:03:09SPEAKER_04: Oh, that's my cue.
- 1:03:11SPEAKER_04: Um well, maybe maybe more it's a different because we haven't really spoken about it, but Masters is in two weeks.
- 1:03:18SPEAKER_04: Um, and I had I think I know how who's gonna win, but I'm curious who you are, guys.
- 1:03:24SPEAKER_04: I'm betting on.
- 1:03:26SPEAKER_01: Rory, no nonsense.
- 1:03:28SPEAKER_01: Uh, and for ropes, Hideki Matsuyama every single time.
- 1:03:34SPEAKER_03: Well, you've stole mine because he is my guy.
- 1:03:37SPEAKER_03: I I I I bet on Hideki Matsuyama.
- 1:03:40SPEAKER_03: Uh, we're talking golf, by the way, for every major tournament.
- 1:03:43SPEAKER_03: And he has won me some money.
- 1:03:44SPEAKER_03: Um over fictional money, fictional money, uh, over the past couple of years.
- 1:03:50SPEAKER_01: He's wrong with a Shane Lowry as well.
- 1:03:54SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna say it now.
- 1:03:56SPEAKER_04: And and I'm I'm close to 100% sure he's gonna win.
- 1:04:03SPEAKER_04: And it's fucking new chili chilly guy.
- 1:04:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah, fucking new, yeah, yeah.
- 1:04:10SPEAKER_04: Yeah, he's gonna win.
- 1:04:12SPEAKER_04: And you guys are looking at me now like no.
- 1:04:16SPEAKER_04: Trust me, he's gonna win.
- 1:04:19SPEAKER_04: He's his odds are 34 or something.
- 1:04:22SPEAKER_04: No one gives a shit.
- 1:04:23SPEAKER_04: He's won a lot on Liv, he's gonna win.
- 1:04:26SPEAKER_04: Just I know you guys think Rory.
- 1:04:29SPEAKER_04: Rory's already had his luck at the players, not gonna win him in the major for another 20 years, maybe one accidental PGA championship.
- 1:04:40SPEAKER_04: It's it's gonna be Howaky Neiman, trust me.
- 1:04:44SPEAKER_04: If he misses the bets, I can like rightful, but I think he's gonna win.
- 1:04:48SPEAKER_01: All right, you've heard it here first.
- 1:04:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I mean, this is this is yeah.
- 1:04:54SPEAKER_03: I mean, if you've if you guys don't fictional bet, like the three of us, you could you know, go on, put a bet on, and then you can definitely have a go at you when that doesn't happen, which is highly unlikely not to happen.
- 1:05:08SPEAKER_04: But yeah, come at me.
- 1:05:10SPEAKER_04: Come at me, you motherfuckers.
- 1:05:11SPEAKER_04: Do you want one more coop question, or was this like your way of wrapping it up?
- 1:05:15SPEAKER_04: Perfect way.
- 1:05:16SPEAKER_03: We're all done.
- 1:05:17SPEAKER_03: This has been this has been the season.
- 1:05:20SPEAKER_03: Actually, no, let's have wait, we'll be back after the break for one more coop.
- 1:05:26SPEAKER_03: And we're back for the ending of the coop.
- 1:05:32SPEAKER_03: You's you pizza uh gonna bring it home for us.
- 1:05:38SPEAKER_04: Oh no, all of a sudden you do want my coop.
- 1:05:42SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 1:05:43SPEAKER_04: Um if you could choose someone from international hockey to room with at the next HIL, who would you choose?
- 1:05:57SPEAKER_03: Well you are you setting me up here to To do like an in-between us friends thing because I've already obviously done it, and I could say, Oh, I had a good time with this guy, and then you'd be like, Ooh.
- 1:06:10SPEAKER_01: Who's you share with, actually?
- 1:06:13SPEAKER_03: You're a bad, you're a bad host of this podcast.
- 1:06:16SPEAKER_03: You are aware of that, Brendan.
- 1:06:17SPEAKER_03: Me?
- 1:06:18SPEAKER_03: No, Brendan.
- 1:06:19SPEAKER_03: Why?
- 1:06:20SPEAKER_03: Because I don't know.
- 1:06:21SPEAKER_03: I never listened to Brendan.
- 1:06:23SPEAKER_04: I know already when Brendan would choose.
- 1:06:29SPEAKER_04: Brendan would choose Amit Rowie does 100%.
- 1:06:35SPEAKER_04: Right?
- 1:06:36SPEAKER_00: I think I would.
- 1:06:37SPEAKER_00: I'd love to know what he's like.
- 1:06:39SPEAKER_04: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:06:42SPEAKER_04: And then I when I wrote this down, I already knew our brand is gonna 100% go for Amit.
- 1:06:47SPEAKER_01: Or the other person is um summit.
- 1:06:52SPEAKER_01: He seems like a really nice human being, and he's always smiley as well.
- 1:06:57SPEAKER_01: They'd be my two, they'd be my two people.
- 1:07:02SPEAKER_03: Nice.
- 1:07:02SPEAKER_03: And you Philip?
- 1:07:04SPEAKER_03: Well, you just said you already had a guess, so go on.
- 1:07:07SPEAKER_04: No, I had a guess for Brendan, but I had no clue for you.
- 1:07:10SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 1:07:11SPEAKER_03: Well, can I also chime?
- 1:07:12SPEAKER_03: Can I also chime in for Brendan?
- 1:07:14SPEAKER_03: That that if he had a choice of any time, he'd obviously go for Toby Halker because that's his best friend for life.
- 1:07:21SPEAKER_03: Um I think best man is wedding.
- 1:07:24SPEAKER_03: Mark Mark Knowles.
- 1:07:26SPEAKER_01: I'd be crying in the corner for six weeks if it was with Knowles.
- 1:07:32SPEAKER_01: Just rock backwards and forwards.
- 1:07:34SPEAKER_03: Brendan's got a really weird, you got a weird thing for weird people.
- 1:07:38SPEAKER_03: You're really liking Glaze, yes, uh, from Spain.
- 1:07:41SPEAKER_01: Good human being, really like the guy.
- 1:07:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah, good human being.
- 1:07:45SPEAKER_03: What you forget is Brendan.
- 1:07:46SPEAKER_03: Brendan likes to go out of the box.
- 1:07:48SPEAKER_03: So there's probably also someone from Chile who Brendan knows who will just who he had one good conversation with Jose Moldonado, what a boy.
- 1:07:57SPEAKER_00: What a boy.
- 1:07:58SPEAKER_00: Spoke to me quite a lot of mom.
- 1:08:00SPEAKER_00: What a good human being.
- 1:08:01SPEAKER_00: Um, who would you go for, Phil?
- 1:08:03SPEAKER_03: Um well it's a bit no, it's not boring.
- 1:08:09SPEAKER_03: I just uh like you you feel like you know people better, so I'd probably go for like you like Vortelbour, I like him.
- 1:08:16SPEAKER_03: He's a nice guy, could probably turn him against you quite easily, um, which would be quite fun.
- 1:08:21SPEAKER_04: Um take a lot to be honest.
- 1:08:24SPEAKER_03: I mean, sorry, I say turn him against, just like have a good bitching session about you.
- 1:08:29SPEAKER_03: I think that could last quite a while.
- 1:08:31SPEAKER_03: Um, who else?
- 1:08:37SPEAKER_03: Oh, I I really like Jacob Smith from the New Zealand team.
- 1:08:41SPEAKER_03: Made some coffees with him recently.
- 1:08:42SPEAKER_03: He's a top guy, and he owns a uh a cool golf brand, Yupe, which also you could get behind.
- 1:08:49SPEAKER_03: I think we maybe I've already done this, but we'll Hiroki Golf, check him out on Instagram, they make some really cool bags.
- 1:08:56SPEAKER_04: Is he paying us?
- 1:08:58SPEAKER_03: Nope, just thought I'd give a free shout out.
- 1:09:02SPEAKER_04: Maybe maybe maybe a bit easy on the on the free shout-outs, Philip.
- 1:09:07SPEAKER_04: Like if we have like millions of people listening, maybe we could like uh get some money from it.
- 1:09:14SPEAKER_04: Um I would like to go with uh Harman Prit on the room.
- 1:09:21SPEAKER_04: Seems like a good time.
- 1:09:24SPEAKER_04: Um also um might want to go with like what's his name?
- 1:09:32SPEAKER_04: Masson, French uh central midfielder.
- 1:09:36SPEAKER_04: Maybe we could like uh build a bridge together, like get closer to each other.
- 1:09:43SPEAKER_01: You're pushing for a move to Gantois as well.
- 1:09:46SPEAKER_03: I mean that's a better question.
- 1:09:47SPEAKER_03: Who would you choose for the other host to like who would you choose for each other to room with, which would just be really funny?
- 1:09:55SPEAKER_04: Um I would choose um for Brendan, obviously after Mark Knowles.
- 1:10:05SPEAKER_04: Uh I would choose a good one.
- 1:10:10SPEAKER_01: I'd I'd 100% choose uh James Mazzarello for Yupe because I think the conversation would be absolutely fantastic in that room because he is far too intelligent for you, Yupe, and I think it'd be really entertaining to witness.
- 1:10:24SPEAKER_04: Brendan, I'm gonna I'm gonna be very, very humble here.
- 1:10:28SPEAKER_04: I think I'm one of the smartest people in international hockey.
- 1:10:32SPEAKER_04: There is Jesus.
- 1:10:37SPEAKER_03: Oh goodness.
- 1:10:38SPEAKER_03: Does that is that a decent sign to stop, or do we want to finish this off?
- 1:10:42SPEAKER_01: That is the quote of the episode.
- 1:10:45SPEAKER_01: I thought the Wi-Fi quote was gonna be good enough, but it turns out this is beaten for Phil, by the way.
- 1:10:50SPEAKER_04: For Phil, by the way, I'm going Tim Brandt.
- 1:10:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah, 100%.
- 1:10:54SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's fair.
- 1:10:55SPEAKER_04: It's good.
- 1:10:56SPEAKER_03: Uh I've built some bridges with the Aussies, but I think it's a fair shout.
- 1:11:00SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:11:05SPEAKER_03: I'd probably just I'd probably just put you with a French person or a or a Belgian French person because that that would be just just uh just the if I could just have a camera on the wall and just watch the awkward interactions to start with.
- 1:11:17SPEAKER_03: Um trying not to insult the French person, would be a pretty good start.
- 1:11:24SPEAKER_04: Well, I like do you know what I really like friends?
- 1:11:28SPEAKER_04: I really do, like, yeah, I love Friends.
- 1:11:32SPEAKER_04: Love Paris.
- 1:11:33SPEAKER_04: Oh, shut up.
- 1:11:35SPEAKER_03: I knew that was coming.
- 1:11:37SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you teat yourself up, and that's an absolute point to stop this podcast.
- 1:11:42SPEAKER_03: This has been it's been episode three.
- 1:11:44SPEAKER_03: All three of us have been here.
- 1:11:45SPEAKER_03: I've uh we've had a nice time.
- 1:11:47SPEAKER_03: Me and Brent have had a nice time.
- 1:11:48SPEAKER_03: You've been you've been um tired and tired, and maybe you need to go back, you know, revitalize yourself, have a lovely week.
- 1:11:58SPEAKER_03: Um, I think I need to forget that I need to coach him better.
- 1:12:01SPEAKER_03: You've done a really good job, you love it.
- 1:12:04SPEAKER_03: Like you keep going strong.
- 1:12:06SPEAKER_03: But they we have been brought to you by Y1.
- 1:12:08SPEAKER_04: And we know what, you know what, Philip?
- 1:12:10SPEAKER_04: Fuck you with your Y1.
- 1:12:12SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna take next week off.
- 1:12:13SPEAKER_04: You guys see how you do with the two of you.
- 1:12:15SPEAKER_04: Without the sparkle of joy, I am.
- 1:12:17SPEAKER_04: Good luck.
- 1:12:18SPEAKER_04: I'm taking next week off.
- 1:12:19SPEAKER_04: Next week off.
- 1:12:20SPEAKER_04: I hope no one fucking listens.
- 1:12:24SPEAKER_03: Alright, bye for now.
- 1:12:50SPEAKER_01: By the way, I hope nobody fucking listens.
- 1:12:56SPEAKER_03: Does anyone get to the end of our podcast?
- 1:12:58SPEAKER_03: Because if you do, congratulations.
- 1:13:01SPEAKER_03: Well done.
- 1:13:01SPEAKER_03: Right.
