- 0:02Speaker 1: Radio radio Radio Commies, a myth and bullshit radio phonic
- 0:16Speaker 1: novella Look Radio hosted by Malamno. Hello, welcome back to
- 0:24Speaker 1: local radio, Local Moorees, Welcome back to Brown Girl Our.
- 0:29Speaker 1: It's so good to be here. Yes, this is and
- 0:33Speaker 1: this is look At a radio is where we celebrate
- 0:37Speaker 1: the legacies and geniuses of women and fems of color. Absolutely,
- 0:41Speaker 1: I'm so happy to be back. Oh my god, it's
- 0:45Speaker 1: been a whirlwind. There's so much has happened my last
- 0:48Speaker 1: in the world and our lives, especially in our lives
- 0:51Speaker 1: specially good Lord. Yes, um so, just to recap our
- 0:55Speaker 1: last episode, don't leak my nudes. We hope you all
- 0:57Speaker 1: liked it. Yeah, that was another installment a firm defense, yes,
- 1:01Speaker 1: but this time talking about um sharing naked photos and
- 1:05Speaker 1: safety online since all that good stuff. I loved that episode.
- 1:10Speaker 1: It was great. I loved it as well. I think
- 1:12Speaker 1: it seems like a lot of our listeners liked too.
- 1:14Speaker 1: We got some good feedback and I'm so excited that
- 1:18Speaker 1: you all like you know that you enjoyed it. Yeah,
- 1:20Speaker 1: we love and you'll engaged with us. Tweet at us
- 1:23Speaker 1: d m S all of it, all of it. Yeah, Um,
- 1:26Speaker 1: we also want to talk about the Philip Print article
- 1:29Speaker 1: that was published a week ago. Oh yes, absolutely, it
- 1:33Speaker 1: was so amazing. So we want to shout out Jessica
- 1:36Speaker 1: Palomo from She Well, she's a writer and she's i
- 1:39Speaker 1: think freelancing or whatever she's doing. We love her. She's
- 1:43Speaker 1: in New York. She's in New York. We love her
- 1:44Speaker 1: for reaching out to us, for supporting Brown Grew our
- 1:47Speaker 1: look at our radio. Yeah, so we hope you'll read
- 1:50Speaker 1: the article. You know, it's on our on our Instagram.
- 1:53Speaker 1: You can find it at Philip Print on Facebook, Instagram,
- 1:56Speaker 1: Google it. It's great. I was really happy with the
- 1:59Speaker 1: article with the interview. I think that just did a
- 2:01Speaker 1: great job really just capturing us and what look is
- 2:07Speaker 1: all about. We talked about reclaiming the term look at Yeah,
- 2:10Speaker 1: we did. That was one of the first questions, right,
- 2:12Speaker 1: which is what we we've spoken about that before, like
- 2:15Speaker 1: on our first coup epistemologies. Yeah. I think the article
- 2:18Speaker 1: is a good way to kind of capture everything we've
- 2:21Speaker 1: been doing since our first episode. You know, there's multiple
- 2:25Speaker 1: there's different questions you know, that really capture our essence.
- 2:28Speaker 1: I feel and Jessica did a really great job. I
- 2:31Speaker 1: also love the drawing. Oh my god, it's so beautiful.
- 2:36Speaker 1: It was unexpected. Also, we had no idea that she
- 2:39Speaker 1: was going to work with this artist. Her name is
- 2:41Speaker 1: Faye or Love and I think she's l a based
- 2:45Speaker 1: um So, Yeah, we had no idea that that even
- 2:47Speaker 1: was going to be a part of it, And it
- 2:49Speaker 1: was such a wonderful, beautiful surprise. It was a beautiful
- 2:52Speaker 1: graphic animation. Yeah. And it's based off of the movie
- 2:55Speaker 1: the picture that we took. Oh for the yes, maybe,
- 3:00Speaker 1: Oh my god, so much cross pollination, cross collaboration of it.
- 3:04Speaker 1: I love it. It's exciting. So that was fun. The
- 3:07Speaker 1: Philip Print article. Um. And but then each of us
- 3:10Speaker 1: have also individually, UM, I had a lot of different
- 3:14Speaker 1: things going on, like like catch us up. You've had
- 3:17Speaker 1: some exciting things going on recently behind the scenes. Yeah,
- 3:20Speaker 1: I've have been working on a lot of stuff for
- 3:22Speaker 1: those of for those who don't know, I'm actually not
- 3:24Speaker 1: working at my at the nonprofit anymore. Um. I haven't
- 3:27Speaker 1: been working there all summer. So it's been a really
- 3:29Speaker 1: nice break, a really nice breath of fresh air. Um.
- 3:33Speaker 1: I feel like my mental health is in such a
- 3:35Speaker 1: better space place. All of the above I've been doing
- 3:39Speaker 1: so much internal work with my therapist, so like that's
- 3:41Speaker 1: like my own personal stuff. I've been doing a lot better. Um.
- 3:44Speaker 1: And then I was with the ladies of Word Agency.
- 3:47Speaker 1: They if you follow word they have UM they have
- 3:51Speaker 1: a shirt that they just made and it's the word
- 3:53Speaker 1: woman in nine different languages. And what's really great is
- 3:56Speaker 1: that they got together a group of women to take
- 3:59Speaker 1: photo was in these pictures so and also do a
- 4:02Speaker 1: video component of what planned Parenthood means to them. So
- 4:07Speaker 1: it was really awesome to hear these women's stories and
- 4:10Speaker 1: how plant Parenthood has helped them become mothers or help them,
- 4:14Speaker 1: you know, not become mothers just yet, right, so the
- 4:16Speaker 1: different ways that Plant Parents has helped them in their
- 4:19Speaker 1: lives and be the really successful, brilliant, you know, entrepreneur
- 4:23Speaker 1: women that they are. Um. I think it's the proceeds
- 4:27Speaker 1: are going to Plant Parenthood with the purchase of the shirt.
- 4:31Speaker 1: So Mala and I were asked to be a part
- 4:34Speaker 1: of it. UM. Since I had more free time, I
- 4:36Speaker 1: was able to go and it was so much fun.
- 4:38Speaker 1: I love Zeila, I love Angela. They're really great. They're amazing. UM.
- 4:43Speaker 1: So yeah, that's one thing that I've been working on yeah,
- 4:47Speaker 1: and they just posted the picture yesterday and it's so cute.
- 4:50Speaker 1: That was a cute picture. I had to be in
- 4:52Speaker 1: court that day. I was so upset I couldn't make it.
- 4:55Speaker 1: But then you also recently were at another really fighting
- 5:00Speaker 1: place doing more exciting things. I was so Um. I
- 5:05Speaker 1: was actually at Beladonnia headquarters yesterday which is in burbank Um,
- 5:09Speaker 1: and I was working with La La. We are working
- 5:12Speaker 1: on something together, surprise. I can't tell y'all about it yet,
- 5:17Speaker 1: but um, we have been working with We're just you know,
- 5:20Speaker 1: building with La La in general, like getting to know
- 5:22Speaker 1: her and their brand and all the dope work that
- 5:24Speaker 1: they're doing. You know that we go to scam and
- 5:26Speaker 1: jam with the Mummy Collective. So I was actually there
- 5:29Speaker 1: at the headquarters yesterday and it's so beautiful. It's like
- 5:32Speaker 1: all pink and there's like this airbrushed wall with hearts,
- 5:35Speaker 1: and you know, I just got to really be in
- 5:39Speaker 1: their in their space and really get to know them
- 5:41Speaker 1: and what they're about, getting a La La and when
- 5:43Speaker 1: she's about. Yeah. I followed Ladonia on our Bella Donna
- 5:47Speaker 1: on Instagram and kind of seeing how they've been putting
- 5:50Speaker 1: the office together, really making it their own. Very pink,
- 5:54Speaker 1: very fluffy, very cute. I like it. I want to go. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 6:00Speaker 1: we need to have a meeting there soon. Um. Yeah, So,
- 6:03Speaker 1: you know, working on a on a project that I
- 6:05Speaker 1: can't really talk about yet, but you know, super excited
- 6:08Speaker 1: to be building with women in l A and creatives
- 6:11Speaker 1: and I think like not working at this at the
- 6:13Speaker 1: nonprofit I was that has like has opened up doors
- 6:16Speaker 1: in many ways. I've been available obviously during the day,
- 6:19Speaker 1: which I wouldn't have been able to be before. So
- 6:21Speaker 1: definitely onto new things and I'm really excited about it.
- 6:25Speaker 1: That's fabulous. Sometimes you've got to move on from an environment. Yeah,
- 6:29Speaker 1: definitely friends. Yeah, and you know, I'm really happy to
- 6:32Speaker 1: be out of the South Bay to be honest. I
- 6:34Speaker 1: was in the South Bay for almost two years and working,
- 6:38Speaker 1: working of course, so you know, I live in Southeast LA,
- 6:41Speaker 1: so it's not too far, but just the driving was
- 6:43Speaker 1: a lot. You know, anywhere in l A when you're community,
- 6:46Speaker 1: everything is a commune. So I'm actually really happy to
- 6:49Speaker 1: be out of the South Bay work wise. I am
- 6:51Speaker 1: dating someone that lives in the South Bay though, so
- 6:53Speaker 1: it's like I'm still there and I'm like, I know,
- 6:59Speaker 1: but I need to get out there. Um. Yeah, So
- 7:03Speaker 1: you know, that's just a little, a little update with
- 7:05Speaker 1: some of some of the stuff I've been working on.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Um what about you, Mala, You have a lot of
- 7:10Speaker 1: stuff going on creatively in your personal life share with us. Yeah. Well,
- 7:14Speaker 1: I mean I haven't shared on the podcast yet on
- 7:17Speaker 1: look At yet, but I did. We did have like
- 7:19Speaker 1: a family tragedy and my poor little baby Taquito passed
- 7:24Speaker 1: away very tragically, and I very much come to peace
- 7:27Speaker 1: with it. I'm okay, I've accepted it and I've moved on.
- 7:30Speaker 1: And I recently actually was able to adopt another dog,
- 7:34Speaker 1: a puppy from the Humane Society. And it was like
- 7:36Speaker 1: ten weeks old when I got him. He was astray
- 7:39Speaker 1: um and his name is Botbas and I love him
- 7:41Speaker 1: so much and he's growing. And so it's been a
- 7:44Speaker 1: lot of because you know, a tiny puppy is like
- 7:47Speaker 1: a baby, really, it really is like lots of attention,
- 7:50Speaker 1: lots of time, lots of patients. So I've been raising
- 7:53Speaker 1: my child. I've been busy raising my child. And then
- 7:56Speaker 1: I recently accepted a virtual reporting fellowship for Everyday Feminism,
- 8:02Speaker 1: which is an online magazine, so I do some writing
- 8:06Speaker 1: and I am writing like educational articles for their healing
- 8:11Speaker 1: justice tracks. So for my first cultural campaign, I'm writing
- 8:14Speaker 1: about sexual violence in Latin X communities. So the first
- 8:17Speaker 1: article that I wrote just came out and it was
- 8:20Speaker 1: about basically exploring the linkages and the connections between colonialism
- 8:25Speaker 1: and sexual violence, gender based violence in Latin America and
- 8:29Speaker 1: US Latino communities. Um. The next article that I have
- 8:32Speaker 1: is going to be about how to talk to your family,
- 8:34Speaker 1: your Latino family or Latin X family about sexual violence
- 8:37Speaker 1: and like myth busting specific to the things that we
- 8:41Speaker 1: talk about in Latino X families, the things that inevitably
- 8:43Speaker 1: come up when it comes to rape culture and violence
- 8:46Speaker 1: against women. Yeah. Absolutely, and such important conversations that we
- 8:49Speaker 1: need to have with our family, but so difficult at
- 8:52Speaker 1: the same time, especially when a lot of us come
- 8:54Speaker 1: from trauma right and have been maybe sexually abused ourselves. Um,
- 9:00Speaker 1: so a lot. But I'm so happy to hear that
- 9:01Speaker 1: you're doing that work. I loved your first article so great.
- 9:05Speaker 1: I'm excited to see you know where this goes, is
- 9:08Speaker 1: reporting fellowship goes. I agree, it's exciting for me, I
- 9:11Speaker 1: love to write. It's hard for me to stay focused, like,
- 9:13Speaker 1: I need direction, I need someone pushing me. I need
- 9:17Speaker 1: a deadline, you know, or else is just not going
- 9:19Speaker 1: to happen. So it's good for me, you know, I'm
- 9:21Speaker 1: really pushing myself. And the articles were I'm all gonna post.
- 9:24Speaker 1: I'm gonna post all of them on my Instagram and
- 9:27Speaker 1: on my Twitter, so you follow look at Underscore Radio
- 9:30Speaker 1: on Instagram or Mala Underscore and then Ariana Issa Fim
- 9:36Speaker 1: and you're gonna be able to get access to all
- 9:38Speaker 1: of that stuff. So, um, we have a lot more
- 9:41Speaker 1: to talk about, we do. You know, Um, Mala, when
- 9:45Speaker 1: I saw you, I was appreciating your address, and you
- 9:48Speaker 1: had a very particular way of describing this lot. Yes,
- 9:51Speaker 1: and I would like for yall to know she describing
- 9:55Speaker 1: this look. I love my look right now. So I
- 9:58Speaker 1: got this dress yesterday from you know, A and M's
- 10:00Speaker 1: finest obviously finest threads only only, and so like the
- 10:05Speaker 1: look that I put together today. I'm wearing like these
- 10:08Speaker 1: black chunky sandals with these like kind of schoolgirl black
- 10:11Speaker 1: and white polka dot socks underneath, and I'm wearing like
- 10:14Speaker 1: with the British would describe as a like a jumper, right,
- 10:17Speaker 1: it's not really it's a dress, but it has the
- 10:20Speaker 1: buttons that go all the way from top to bottom.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Is kind of stretching down him and oh my god,
- 10:24Speaker 1: I just hit myself on the day. Well, I'm fine.
- 10:27Speaker 1: I'm excited about my so excited. And then I have
- 10:30Speaker 1: kind of these like retro like pink glasses that I
- 10:32Speaker 1: was wearing, and so when I put the look together,
- 10:35Speaker 1: I'm like, Okay, I know exactly who i am. This
- 10:38Speaker 1: is like the mid twenties Latina Chicana Wednesday Adams, but
- 10:43Speaker 1: if she was a character and clueless in the movie,
- 10:46Speaker 1: very specific. That's the look and I hope to recreate.
- 10:51Speaker 1: Maybe this will become my new signature esthetic. I like it. Yeah,
- 10:57Speaker 1: we need a shopping day and you too. I am
- 11:00Speaker 1: doing like who are you wearing? What are you wearing? Listeners,
- 11:04Speaker 1: I'm doing like casual cute the looks literally because I'm
- 11:09Speaker 1: wearing a halter with love Han honest our favorite, one
- 11:13Speaker 1: of my favorite the asides um and it's actually a
- 11:16Speaker 1: Beladonia shirts or halter um and it's really cute. It's
- 11:20Speaker 1: white nipples are showing. Of course, because that is what
- 11:24Speaker 1: I'm about. Outside. It's hot outside, and I'm wearing um,
- 11:28Speaker 1: just light denim jeans and these six inch wedges, which
- 11:31Speaker 1: I love. I've had them for like six years, their
- 11:33Speaker 1: Jeoffrey Campbell wedges. They're colorful. They make me look tall
- 11:38Speaker 1: because I'm very small. I am like five one, I
- 11:43Speaker 1: really am. And when I'm standing next to Mala, I'm like,
- 11:46Speaker 1: oh right, I need to have my big my big
- 11:48Speaker 1: shoes because my life is has some height on me.
- 11:52Speaker 1: So yeah, I'm just doing it's hot out, I'm doing
- 11:54Speaker 1: some casual, casual, cute summer summer look. Halters always remind
- 11:59Speaker 1: me of the nineties also, so I'm just I guess
- 12:02Speaker 1: I'm like summer nineties. I love the hotellers. I prefer halters.
- 12:06Speaker 1: I don't like anything that impedes my shoulders and my
- 12:08Speaker 1: arm movement. I agree. I love when my shoulders are out.
- 12:11Speaker 1: I don't like sleeves, which makes me so angry when
- 12:15Speaker 1: every single dress code ever, the first thing they want
- 12:17Speaker 1: us to cover our shoulders. They don't want us to
- 12:20Speaker 1: have full mobility. The conspiracy. Oh my god, you're so funny.
- 12:26Speaker 1: So anyway, so I think that's it for like our
- 12:30Speaker 1: general checkens. Yeah, there's been a lot going on. I
- 12:33Speaker 1: mean today, what's today's topic. I mean before we get
- 12:36Speaker 1: first song break, we want to prep everybody. Yeah, so
- 12:39Speaker 1: before we get into our main content for the day, Um,
- 12:42Speaker 1: we are actually we want to talk about this name
- 12:44Speaker 1: that we have created for our listeners look at motives.
- 12:49Speaker 1: So we're really excited to discuss that what it was
- 12:52Speaker 1: inspired from listener love that we've seen as a story.
- 12:55Speaker 1: There's a story, as always, always a story. And we
- 12:59Speaker 1: also want to talk about God his first job. So
- 13:02Speaker 1: they also worshop, self care, sisterhood, all these different things.
- 13:10Speaker 1: Belly ros and and and and and and and and
- 13:16Speaker 1: and and and and and spend and and and and
- 13:24Speaker 1: and and and and spends, belly rang and and and
- 13:31Speaker 1: spend it belly rang and and and spends belly rong
- 13:36Speaker 1: and and and and um um from from from from
- 13:44Speaker 1: from from from from of it and ship Hello, Hello, Hello,
- 13:55Speaker 1: and we're back. We are bad. Thank you here, your talent,
- 13:59Speaker 1: your beauty, your music, Oh my god. Yeah. Also I
- 14:02Speaker 1: follow her on Twitter and she's amazing. She's so funny
- 14:06Speaker 1: and adsorable. Yeah, and she engages, which I love. I
- 14:08Speaker 1: was watching her breakfast Club interview the other day. I
- 14:11Speaker 1: know there's a there's been a lot going on with
- 14:13Speaker 1: the Breakfast Club. We completely and totally support stand behind
- 14:19Speaker 1: um Janet Mock and all of the black trends women
- 14:21Speaker 1: who have come to like spread that education and you know,
- 14:25Speaker 1: advocate for themselves and talk about transphobia on the Breakfast
- 14:29Speaker 1: Club and so we support them in their efforts and
- 14:32Speaker 1: everything that they've said. Absolutely. And Jenne Mak has a
- 14:36Speaker 1: a podcast called Never Before I Believe and it's great,
- 14:39Speaker 1: so listen. I mean, she's amazing. She has a new
- 14:43Speaker 1: memoiral surpassing Certainty. Yeah, I met her once in college. Yeah,
- 14:48Speaker 1: when I was waking at the LGBT Center day there
- 14:51Speaker 1: was programming of course, and we brought her out and
- 14:53Speaker 1: I got to meet her prior and she signed my
- 14:56Speaker 1: book and yeah, my my friend and yeah, my friend
- 15:01Speaker 1: with he he was a director and he was interviewing
- 15:04Speaker 1: her and I was actually tweeting out like her responses
- 15:08Speaker 1: like through the LGBT Centers Twitter. It was so great,
- 15:11Speaker 1: it was so amazing. And that's like when I was
- 15:13Speaker 1: really coming into my FAMI identity. So I really like,
- 15:17Speaker 1: I really see like trans women like the way that
- 15:20Speaker 1: they shaped discourse around femininity and just femin nous in general,
- 15:24Speaker 1: and like I attribute all of that to kim Alan
- 15:27Speaker 1: or kim Alan and Jenna Mark. Absolutely, I love her work.
- 15:31Speaker 1: She's so important to me. Yeah, doing great work, doing
- 15:34Speaker 1: a great works. So thank you to them and support them,
- 15:37Speaker 1: support transgender women, support transferm um. So that's what we're
- 15:42Speaker 1: going to do. Absolutely. So let's get into our our
- 15:46Speaker 1: main content today. We want to introduce local Moore. Oh
- 15:51Speaker 1: my god. Yeah, So I'm gonna read the definition that
- 15:53Speaker 1: we created together Mala and I. So local motive is
- 15:56Speaker 1: our listeners, locas, look at and friends that make our
- 16:02Speaker 1: radiophonic novella glitter and glow. I love our definition. So
- 16:08Speaker 1: we want to share with you actually how this came about.
- 16:11Speaker 1: Um as always, like I think in general, we we
- 16:15Speaker 1: like to call y'all locas lok xs, but trying to
- 16:18Speaker 1: think of something that's gender neutral, inclusive and also cute,
- 16:22Speaker 1: that's a priority, of top priority. Absolutely. So you know,
- 16:27Speaker 1: there's actually something that happened via happened on the Internet
- 16:31Speaker 1: that we want to share. So Mana is actually going
- 16:33Speaker 1: to get into it and share with you all. Oh
- 16:35Speaker 1: my god, you guys, Oh my God, look what is
- 16:37Speaker 1: it was kind of it was interesting. It was a
- 16:39Speaker 1: really interesting experience. So we got winds um. We were
- 16:44Speaker 1: informed that, you know, one of our listeners had you know,
- 16:47Speaker 1: gone on Facebook onto a post by Rescula, which is
- 16:51Speaker 1: an article that they've been circulating for a few months
- 16:54Speaker 1: about like top ten or whatever or here are ten
- 16:57Speaker 1: Latino podcast that you need to listen to. So um,
- 17:00Speaker 1: this particular listener, you know, commented recently on the remescular
- 17:06Speaker 1: article on Facebook and essentially said, you know myself, and
- 17:10Speaker 1: multiple listeners and commentators and people have have tweeted at
- 17:15Speaker 1: you guys and commented and asked you to update this
- 17:18Speaker 1: list to include Cathic on Cheeseman and look at that
- 17:21Speaker 1: our radio and we've seen we have seen here and
- 17:24Speaker 1: there other listeners you know, like um tweet are at
- 17:27Speaker 1: at remescla or comment on Facebook with our at and
- 17:31Speaker 1: and whenever people put out a call for you know,
- 17:35Speaker 1: the tripod hashtag or you know, they when there are
- 17:38Speaker 1: people online who want to know about more Latino podcast,
- 17:41Speaker 1: inevitably our listeners will mention us and put us out there.
- 17:45Speaker 1: So somebody told us about it, and so we went
- 17:47Speaker 1: and we saw, you know, the comment from our listener,
- 17:49Speaker 1: but it had actually been deleted off of the Facebook
- 17:54Speaker 1: yes or no, Yes, it happened, but we had a
- 17:58Speaker 1: screenshot of it. We did and green shot. Yeah, I
- 18:01Speaker 1: mean in no shade, because who knows how these things,
- 18:03Speaker 1: you know, there's always stuff that happens. We're just telling you, Yeah,
- 18:09Speaker 1: what we really want to focus on is the way
- 18:11Speaker 1: that our listeners really come through for us, the way
- 18:14Speaker 1: they really try to represent us and other fems of color.
- 18:20Speaker 1: Loca's our locomotives. You know, y'all really right for us
- 18:23Speaker 1: via social media. I love it, and we love it,
- 18:25Speaker 1: and even when when we get to meet some of
- 18:27Speaker 1: y'all in person at Yeah, so it's just really great
- 18:31Speaker 1: to see the way that y'all engage with us and
- 18:34Speaker 1: yeah here at present. So when we saw that recently
- 18:37Speaker 1: with just like how vocal our listeners are and they
- 18:40Speaker 1: want to see you know, they just want to use
- 18:41Speaker 1: their voices and they kind of keepe for us in
- 18:44Speaker 1: a lot of ways, thank you, it reminded us of like, well, hey,
- 18:47Speaker 1: like Rihanna has her Navy, Amber has her Rosebuds, Beyonce
- 18:52Speaker 1: has the bee Hive. What do we have? We have
- 18:54Speaker 1: our luck? On motives, our loves. So that's who you
- 18:58Speaker 1: all are, and that's how we're going to refer to
- 19:00Speaker 1: you from now on. Yeah, look, moest and I actually
- 19:03Speaker 1: run into a look on More last night or you did,
- 19:05Speaker 1: Oh my god, to share that with you, Oh my god.
- 19:09Speaker 1: So I went out with a bunch of friends last
- 19:11Speaker 1: night and we inevitably end up at this place downtown
- 19:14Speaker 1: where we always end up so upset about that. I know,
- 19:17Speaker 1: I'm not even going to name the place because I'm
- 19:18Speaker 1: ashamed because we're always there and we always tell ourselves
- 19:22Speaker 1: never again. This is awful. We hate. This is a
- 19:24Speaker 1: terrible the last resort type of thing. It's literally a
- 19:26Speaker 1: last resort. It's the spillover from the club across the
- 19:29Speaker 1: street that nobody else could get into because the line
- 19:31Speaker 1: is too long, Like to be honest, to be real,
- 19:33Speaker 1: you know, that's where you go when you don't want
- 19:35Speaker 1: to wait in line at the other place that's more popping,
- 19:38Speaker 1: and you don't want to pay cover at the other
- 19:39Speaker 1: other place. So just to be honest, and everybody knows that.
- 19:43Speaker 1: But that's why it's fun, because you could just walk
- 19:44Speaker 1: in and it's whatever. So I'm there, and of course
- 19:47Speaker 1: the entire night, not even one person came up to
- 19:51Speaker 1: any of us to like have a conversation or to
- 19:54Speaker 1: offer any of his drinks. Sideline Mama is very intimidating
- 19:57Speaker 1: in person if you are a man. So you know what,
- 20:00Speaker 1: I guess, I guess I see it. I don't know,
- 20:03Speaker 1: but I never get approached. I really don't. And when
- 20:06Speaker 1: I do, it's usually like, not the type of guy
- 20:08Speaker 1: that I'm looking for, the type of person that I'm
- 20:11Speaker 1: I would really like be attracted to. You know, it's
- 20:15Speaker 1: just not so um. I don't have a lot of
- 20:18Speaker 1: good luck when I go out, unfortunately. So anyway, so
- 20:21Speaker 1: last night, we're out, so we end up at this
- 20:24Speaker 1: last resort place, which is fine. Of course, the men
- 20:28Speaker 1: there wait till the end of the night. The lights
- 20:31Speaker 1: are already up, they're getting ready to last call on alcohol.
- 20:35Speaker 1: They're they're already ushering people out. And now the dudes
- 20:39Speaker 1: want to come over and they want to start talking
- 20:40Speaker 1: to us, and one guy offers to buy me a drink.
- 20:42Speaker 1: So I'm like, well, fucky, yeah, let's go. So we
- 20:45Speaker 1: get tequila shots. I have my shot, which is what
- 20:49Speaker 1: I agreed to was a shot, and that's it. And
- 20:52Speaker 1: then he asked me for my number and I was like, no,
- 20:55Speaker 1: that's okay. I'm gonna go see my friends now. And
- 20:57Speaker 1: he was like really and I was like yeah, really, really,
- 21:01Speaker 1: I don't give out my number. He's like what about
- 21:03Speaker 1: your what about your snapchat? I'm like I don't have one.
- 21:06Speaker 1: She doesn't, you know. So it's like I'm not going
- 21:08Speaker 1: to give you anything. You gave me a shot and
- 21:10Speaker 1: that's it. So I go out with my friends and
- 21:14Speaker 1: this guy is like waiting at the exit and he
- 21:17Speaker 1: keeps looking at me like I know what he's doing.
- 21:19Speaker 1: He's waiting for me to walk by so he can
- 21:20Speaker 1: try again. So me and my my girlfriends were like, okay,
- 21:24Speaker 1: let's go out the other exit, the front exit, and
- 21:27Speaker 1: the bouncer is all like, ladies, you gotta go out
- 21:30Speaker 1: this other way, like this is our exit right now,
- 21:32Speaker 1: please like file over here, and we're like no, sir,
- 21:35Speaker 1: you don't understand, like we're avoiding that man over there,
- 21:39Speaker 1: like you can't make us walk, and he started laughing
- 21:41Speaker 1: because he knows what's going on. So then he's like okay.
- 21:45Speaker 1: He's like follow me, and he took us through this
- 21:47Speaker 1: other like exit right and he was being really nice.
- 21:50Speaker 1: So we exited and then we're outside talking, me and
- 21:53Speaker 1: my me and my friends, my home girls, and then
- 21:55Speaker 1: all of a sudden, this move head comes up and
- 21:57Speaker 1: starts talking to me. And I've never seen her before.
- 21:59Speaker 1: I don't know her. And she comes up and she's like,
- 22:02Speaker 1: oh my god, like I love look at our radio.
- 22:05Speaker 1: I'm a listener, so she's a look, I'm more so
- 22:08Speaker 1: I'm excited. Whenever we see look, I'm what is out
- 22:10Speaker 1: in the world. We get so excited and when you
- 22:12Speaker 1: approach us, we're so happy. Like if you are a listener,
- 22:15Speaker 1: please come say hi. That's an open invitation, you know.
- 22:19Speaker 1: So um, she approaches, she says hi, we're talking, and
- 22:22Speaker 1: then lo and behold, all of a sudden, who comes
- 22:26Speaker 1: walking up behind her homeboy from the bar from earlier, right,
- 22:30Speaker 1: all of a sudden, and he starts talking to to her,
- 22:33Speaker 1: to the woman and he's like, you see, sis, I
- 22:36Speaker 1: told you that was her. I knew that was the
- 22:38Speaker 1: girl from the podcast talking about me. So now I'm
- 22:41Speaker 1: giving this girl a hug, right, And if you're listening,
- 22:44Speaker 1: so happy, so nice to meet you, like you're so cute,
- 22:47Speaker 1: like please, like, let's chill again, because we were great,
- 22:50Speaker 1: but so I'm hugging. We're hugging, and then her brother
- 22:53Speaker 1: comes to join it on the pug to join it
- 22:56Speaker 1: on the group ug so he could hug me, and
- 22:58Speaker 1: I'm like, oh my god. It was so interesting because
- 23:02Speaker 1: I'm like, listen, I know that there are men that
- 23:04Speaker 1: listen to the podcast are at very least follow our Instagram.
- 23:07Speaker 1: You do not get to use our content and your
- 23:10Speaker 1: sister's and your because your prima's and you know, and
- 23:15Speaker 1: like the fems in your life, you can't use the
- 23:17Speaker 1: podcast to get to us. I refuse, right, You're not allowed.
- 23:21Speaker 1: You will not weaponize. It's one thing where you're genuinely engaging.
- 23:25Speaker 1: But when you're just using it to try and holler like,
- 23:27Speaker 1: that's that's a different Yeah, you know. And I'm like,
- 23:30Speaker 1: oh so all this time when you offered me a
- 23:32Speaker 1: drink at the GIT, from the beginning, you know exactly
- 23:35Speaker 1: who I was, but you didn't decide to bring it
- 23:36Speaker 1: up until I said no to you. But now you
- 23:38Speaker 1: want a second chance, You're going to use your sister. Know, Yeah,
- 23:41Speaker 1: that's funny. That reminds me of the But it was
- 23:43Speaker 1: nice to meet the sister. You are so sweet shout out.
- 23:46Speaker 1: I'm glad you approached Mama. That reminds me of the
- 23:51Speaker 1: guy that works at Oh my god, shout out, shout
- 23:55Speaker 1: out his name. Um, we will find out your name,
- 23:59Speaker 1: but shout out boot if you're I'm not sure if
- 24:00Speaker 1: you listen, but he knows of We sometimes go and
- 24:04Speaker 1: work there before we record, and he's very sweet. He's
- 24:07Speaker 1: very nice to us, you know. And it's it's nice
- 24:10Speaker 1: when there's like men out there that are just nice,
- 24:13Speaker 1: safe men of color exactly, and they're not trying to
- 24:15Speaker 1: holler at you, whether they're not creepy, they're just like, hey,
- 24:18Speaker 1: like I know what you'll do. Nice to meet you.
- 24:20Speaker 1: Nico of Espasio is a very safe, trustworthy man who
- 24:27Speaker 1: offers the space to the community in a non predatory way. Yeah,
- 24:31Speaker 1: it's important when they're when you do meet those men,
- 24:35Speaker 1: we know that they're there. However, our experience has been
- 24:38Speaker 1: the opposite, exactly the ratio with a little out of whack. Yeah,
- 24:41Speaker 1: and today even like I so appreciates and I will
- 24:45Speaker 1: learn your names since I appreciate you, because oh my god,
- 24:51Speaker 1: oh my god, story another story. Lord, I'm exhausted so
- 24:54Speaker 1: earlier today, like Yosa and I were meeting up so
- 24:57Speaker 1: that we could work on look at that stuff right
- 24:58Speaker 1: and get the episode up for today. So we're going
- 25:01Speaker 1: to meet at La Monaca. So I walk in there
- 25:03Speaker 1: and then all of a sudden, at the corner of
- 25:05Speaker 1: my eye, Um, you know, I work with domestic violence survivors,
- 25:08Speaker 1: and I go to court a lot with my survivors,
- 25:10Speaker 1: and we often see their abusers, right, whether it's the
- 25:13Speaker 1: person who assaulted them, uh, you know, their ex husband,
- 25:17Speaker 1: father of their kids, whatever, domestic violence. So a lot
- 25:20Speaker 1: of the abusers will see me once a month or
- 25:23Speaker 1: see me all the time in court. They know what
- 25:24Speaker 1: I look like, they recognize me. So I walk into
- 25:27Speaker 1: and remember, the abusers are from the community, you know,
- 25:31Speaker 1: it's their regular as men, regular as people from the community.
- 25:35Speaker 1: They're all over the place. So I walk into La
- 25:37Speaker 1: Monaca and at the corner of my eye, I see
- 25:39Speaker 1: one of these guys. I see one of these abusers
- 25:41Speaker 1: that I've been in for with, you know, his victim,
- 25:44Speaker 1: with the survivor a million times. I saw him and
- 25:48Speaker 1: I had to like, I was like, oh shit, and
- 25:50Speaker 1: this has happened before. Where I will see abusers like
- 25:53Speaker 1: out in downtown or wherever, at the market wherever, and
- 25:56Speaker 1: when that happens, I and I. Once I see them,
- 25:59Speaker 1: I try to make eye contact and I just leave.
- 26:02Speaker 1: I just removed myself. So I like basically like ran
- 26:05Speaker 1: from Lamonatica and I walked in and I was all
- 26:08Speaker 1: hot and flustered in my cute outfit and ship looking
- 26:12Speaker 1: like Wednesday Adam and I walk into. I walk into
- 26:17Speaker 1: and the guys are there, and they I've spoken to
- 26:19Speaker 1: them before, I've seen them at events, and I was like,
- 26:21Speaker 1: oh my god, you guys, like, can I tell you
- 26:23Speaker 1: what just happened? And I told them the whole story
- 26:25Speaker 1: and they were so sweet. They were like, oh my god,
- 26:27Speaker 1: like are you okay? Ye, like all that's that's terrible.
- 26:31Speaker 1: I hope everything's fine. And it was just they provided
- 26:33Speaker 1: a safe space from head and distress for a mommy
- 26:37Speaker 1: and distress. Yes, good, I'm glad that they did that.
- 26:40Speaker 1: And yeah, I mean, we we're going to coffee there
- 26:42Speaker 1: sometimes working and stuff. So it's nice that to also
- 26:46Speaker 1: like get to know people in the community because we're
- 26:49Speaker 1: not from boil Heights, no, we record here. We work
- 26:52Speaker 1: out from different restaurants or coffee shops, so we come
- 26:55Speaker 1: to events all the time. Yeah, we like to support. Um.
- 27:00Speaker 1: I also, since we're shouting out some people, I want
- 27:02Speaker 1: to shout out Actually Amelie a k a at Ho
- 27:07Speaker 1: on Instagram and I believe Twitter, so I actually run
- 27:10Speaker 1: into her yesterday at Bella Donna when I was at
- 27:12Speaker 1: the headquarters, and it was so funny because my back
- 27:15Speaker 1: was to the door and Laala and I were, you know,
- 27:17Speaker 1: in our meeting, and I see someone walk in and
- 27:19Speaker 1: I turned around and it's Emilie. And I've never met
- 27:22Speaker 1: her in real life, but I've seen her on social
- 27:24Speaker 1: media of course, like most most people, right, so you know,
- 27:29Speaker 1: it was such a surprise to see her, and she
- 27:30Speaker 1: was so excited to see me and was like just
- 27:33Speaker 1: very sweet, very kind, and it was it was just
- 27:36Speaker 1: a really nice coincidence because I knew that a model
- 27:39Speaker 1: was coming into shoot with them, but I didn't know who. Um,
- 27:42Speaker 1: So yeah, it was just really good. I just wanted
- 27:44Speaker 1: to shout her out because she follows Mala and I.
- 27:46Speaker 1: She follows a podcast. She's a local Moode as well,
- 27:49Speaker 1: another local Moode and she's so sweet and just beautiful,
- 27:53Speaker 1: so beautiful, has long, beautiful hair, is just really amazing.
- 27:57Speaker 1: So I just wanted to shout her out and show
- 27:58Speaker 1: her some love because she shook at that. I love
- 28:00Speaker 1: all the time. I love you girls. Yes, So I
- 28:04Speaker 1: mean this is a good transition actually to God's worship. Yes,
- 28:07Speaker 1: best topic, let's get into it. So most of my work,
- 28:12Speaker 1: I feel like my online work or does internal work.
- 28:15Speaker 1: What I talk about is like very much about self care.
- 28:18Speaker 1: So this topic is really important to me. I have
- 28:19Speaker 1: like little workshops on it and not this like consumerist
- 28:23Speaker 1: like you got to buy a bath bomb. It's like, no,
- 28:25Speaker 1: self care can be messy and it can be uncomfortable,
- 28:28Speaker 1: but it's really important and it can and there's like
- 28:30Speaker 1: definitely beauty to it. It can be pretty, but it's
- 28:33Speaker 1: not always pretty, right exactly. So God's worship is self care.
- 28:36Speaker 1: Let's talk about it. So for me, let's what is
- 28:41Speaker 1: a goddess? Yeah, let's down goddess worship? Yeah, what is
- 28:44Speaker 1: a goddess? So I always immediately think, you know, because
- 28:49Speaker 1: we try and speak from our experience and from our
- 28:51Speaker 1: own contexts first and then grow out from there. So
- 28:55Speaker 1: I always think of like Latino, Latina, Latino could sures
- 29:00Speaker 1: to be inherently drawn towards goddess worship. I think about
- 29:05Speaker 1: even though, like, for example, my family is from Mexico, right,
- 29:09Speaker 1: I think about Mexico and particular, and every Latin American
- 29:13Speaker 1: country will have their particular variations and origins and models
- 29:19Speaker 1: of participating in God's worship. I think of Mexico in
- 29:23Speaker 1: particular in my experience, and one of the most Catholic nations,
- 29:27Speaker 1: if not the most Catholic nation in the world, with
- 29:30Speaker 1: the most Catholics. Right, And we are all about Jesus
- 29:34Speaker 1: and God, but everybody is so deeply connected and tied
- 29:38Speaker 1: to Levi Hin, and that's usually the first person that
- 29:42Speaker 1: people will pray to and go on pilgrimages for, before
- 29:46Speaker 1: Jesus or God. You know, we love leg Hin on images.
- 29:50Speaker 1: We love to see her on candles. The younger generation,
- 29:54Speaker 1: we embrace her in our clothing, murals, in our streets,
- 29:59Speaker 1: in our home. She's framed. My grandma has that she
- 30:02Speaker 1: won at Bingo at the church. It my grandmother one
- 30:05Speaker 1: this huge framed image of praying hands and Pope John
- 30:13Speaker 1: Paul is like basically like on bended knee, like praying
- 30:17Speaker 1: to her like that, praying to love you. Hen I
- 30:21Speaker 1: look at something like that, and I look at that
- 30:23Speaker 1: as a type of an iteration of how we would
- 30:25Speaker 1: do goddess worthsha. Yeah. Absolutely, I mean thinking about spirituality,
- 30:29Speaker 1: like I don't really identify my god or my gods
- 30:32Speaker 1: as as as male, you know, exactly, So when I
- 30:35Speaker 1: think about a goddess, I think about and I think
- 30:38Speaker 1: about I'm praying to someone and praying to Levetan or
- 30:40Speaker 1: any other goddesses that I that I do engage with
- 30:43Speaker 1: or I feel like are in my spirit. Um so yeah, definitely,
- 30:46Speaker 1: like love Eton has a really big significance. And I
- 30:48Speaker 1: think being in l A obviously, like there's a very
- 30:53Speaker 1: big Mexican community here, I mean love Eton has. There's
- 30:57Speaker 1: there's so many cultural ties I think in a lot
- 30:59Speaker 1: of communities in general, she looks differently right in some
- 31:03Speaker 1: Latino communities. Um So, yeah, goddess godd is first of
- 31:07Speaker 1: I'm thinking also, like to me, a goddess is someone
- 31:10Speaker 1: that's flawed, you know, someone that has there is some
- 31:15Speaker 1: type of magic to her, um, some type of you know,
- 31:19Speaker 1: of course spirituality to her, some type of creative energy,
- 31:22Speaker 1: but also very flawed. When you say that, it makes
- 31:26Speaker 1: me think immediately of oiled shaky exactly. She's actually one
- 31:29Speaker 1: of the goddesses that I adore. You want to you
- 31:32Speaker 1: want to talk more about oil shaky and why? Yeah?
- 31:34Speaker 1: Absolutely so. I feel like I learned about Goyo shan
- 31:37Speaker 1: Ki through act so queer Chikana, feminist, um writer, a,
- 31:44Speaker 1: theorist everything. Um So. A lot of chican Is actually
- 31:47Speaker 1: or queer folks also follow Gloria Zaldua and she is
- 31:52Speaker 1: especially prevalent in the borderlands in the book, right, um So. Anyway,
- 31:57Speaker 1: So Koyo shanky is you know, an an Aztec um
- 32:03Speaker 1: cosmology and Aste cosmology. Koyoshaki is the moon goddess and
- 32:09Speaker 1: she was born of Gatlique. So her brother is Pochi,
- 32:15Speaker 1: which is the sun god or the warrior god. This
- 32:17Speaker 1: is coming out of as tech Yes, spirituality, Yes, absolutely so.
- 32:23Speaker 1: In the in the story, she Um was dismembered so
- 32:28Speaker 1: cut into pieces by wil Pochili. So I think for
- 32:31Speaker 1: me Um, I think for a lot of chickens. There
- 32:36Speaker 1: is this idea of us like putting ourselves back together,
- 32:39Speaker 1: So putting pieces of ourselves back together when we were
- 32:42Speaker 1: destroyed by something, by a male presence, by some type
- 32:46Speaker 1: of predator, some someone that has tried to hurt us.
- 32:48Speaker 1: So there's this idea that you're putting yourself back together.
- 32:51Speaker 1: Um and yees. So, I think there's a lot of
- 32:53Speaker 1: significance to to Koyoshoki in our communities, especially trying to
- 32:58Speaker 1: reclaim parts of indigeneity. Maybe in terms of religion. I
- 33:02Speaker 1: mean there's a lot of nuances in a lot of complexities.
- 33:05Speaker 1: Of course, um, two folks that want to try and
- 33:09Speaker 1: reclaim in indigeneity. Um. But I think it just goes
- 33:12Speaker 1: to show that there's a lot of a lot in
- 33:15Speaker 1: our history that we just don't know and that was
- 33:17Speaker 1: taken from us. Um. So trying to I guess sign pieces. Yeah,
- 33:21Speaker 1: and I mean finding the pieces I think is also
- 33:24Speaker 1: just noticing noticing, Oh my god, look at all of
- 33:28Speaker 1: these femin female women figures that people are literally praying to,
- 33:34Speaker 1: you know, and pouring their hearts out to. And across
- 33:37Speaker 1: religion or spirituality, we can talk about Santhia and all
- 33:42Speaker 1: the feminine, the divine feminine right that that people are
- 33:46Speaker 1: praying to and that they're calling out to write and
- 33:49Speaker 1: offering up prayers to the divine feminine in Santheia. You know,
- 33:54Speaker 1: there's so many different variations and I would be really
- 33:56Speaker 1: interested in our locomotive as our listeners to tell us
- 34:00Speaker 1: more about your particular families where you all are from.
- 34:04Speaker 1: What kind of goddesses? Yeah? Were you all you know,
- 34:08Speaker 1: looking up to and praying to and worshiping? Yeah? Yeah,
- 34:12Speaker 1: so you know that that makes me feel like because
- 34:14Speaker 1: we grow up with this type of worship or just
- 34:18Speaker 1: praying to a type of goddess a woman figure. Um.
- 34:22Speaker 1: Also like our mothers are our goddesses right there. They're
- 34:25Speaker 1: the women in our lives that we adore, that we love,
- 34:28Speaker 1: that we pray for, you know, maybe we pray to
- 34:30Speaker 1: in some in some ways, um, and that support us,
- 34:33Speaker 1: and who prays for us more than anybody Our mothers,
- 34:36Speaker 1: our mothers and our grandmother Absolutely. Yeah. Absolutely. Whenever I
- 34:40Speaker 1: have like a job interview or I'm going through something
- 34:43Speaker 1: where I need love and support, I call my Marina
- 34:46Speaker 1: because she prays a lot, and she likes candals and
- 34:48Speaker 1: she's very spiritual. So I call her and I tell
- 34:50Speaker 1: her like, hey, Nina, like I have this going on,
- 34:52Speaker 1: like being sent me and she goes okay, and she
- 34:54Speaker 1: and I know that I'm set. I have my protector,
- 34:57Speaker 1: Like she's gonna put it all out there for me.
- 34:59Speaker 1: So it's just something very beautiful and spiritual. For me
- 35:04Speaker 1: and so many of our families, the modes are like
- 35:07Speaker 1: the keepers of spirituality, absolutely, and they teach it to
- 35:12Speaker 1: the kids or religion or whatever it is, however you
- 35:15Speaker 1: do it, it's usually mom or grandma or the absolutely, um, yeah,
- 35:21Speaker 1: Grandma's a goddess. Absolutely, Grandma's a goddess. Mom is a goddess.
- 35:25Speaker 1: And then I think so when we start to become
- 35:26Speaker 1: women ourselves, we're like, okay, well, I'm also a goddess.
- 35:30Speaker 1: I'm also adiosa. So how do I worship myself? And
- 35:34Speaker 1: how do we really define goddess? Ordosa? Like, how do
- 35:37Speaker 1: you know if you are one? What makes you a goddess? Yeah?
- 35:42Speaker 1: What makes you a goddess? I think that that has
- 35:44Speaker 1: a lot to do with I mean any I mean,
- 35:47Speaker 1: I mean anyone can really like identify as as we're
- 35:50Speaker 1: not gatekeepers goddess absolutely not, we do not believe that.
- 35:55Speaker 1: But I think for me, I think a goddess is
- 35:57Speaker 1: someone that's loving on herself, loving on others, empowering herself
- 36:02Speaker 1: and empowering others, and like I said, really working on
- 36:06Speaker 1: recognizing acknowledging that you are a flawed being. You've made mistakes,
- 36:11Speaker 1: you've hurt, you've harmed. You've also been hurt and harmed,
- 36:15Speaker 1: and you're gonna work on it. So nobody is perfect.
- 36:18Speaker 1: You're not a perfect being. None of our gods are,
- 36:20Speaker 1: none of our goddesses are. So really acknowledging that you're
- 36:24Speaker 1: a growing person, you're a growing being, right, and you
- 36:27Speaker 1: have your there's something larger than you, right, there's something
- 36:30Speaker 1: cosmic about your existence. There's something magical in your existence,
- 36:34Speaker 1: and you're gonna keep going. And you have like your guardians,
- 36:37Speaker 1: you have your spirits, you have your family protecting you,
- 36:40Speaker 1: and you're also protecting others, So there's something mystical about it. Absolutely.
- 36:45Speaker 1: I also I feel like there's an element of it
- 36:48Speaker 1: where it's like if you are actively unconsciously or not,
- 36:53Speaker 1: you know, um, engaging in goddess worship, either of yourself
- 36:57Speaker 1: as a goddess, because if you're worshiping yourself, you're that's
- 37:00Speaker 1: goddess worship, or in worship of others. Um. I think
- 37:04Speaker 1: that there's also kind of like in some ways energy
- 37:07Speaker 1: work that's being done there because you're giving that love
- 37:10Speaker 1: and that positive energy towards other goddesses. Absolutely, there's an
- 37:15Speaker 1: energy exchange, and I think that's so often masculinity, maleness, toughness,
- 37:23Speaker 1: meanness is what is often so prized and glorified. And
- 37:28Speaker 1: then the feminine and the soft is often you know,
- 37:32Speaker 1: talk down on and it's like sissy stuff, and it's
- 37:35Speaker 1: like we talk about superfluous is the word that we use.
- 37:38Speaker 1: Are unimportant, easily breakable. But I think that when you
- 37:42Speaker 1: choose to put your energy and your intentions towards recognizing
- 37:46Speaker 1: and loving the feminine, that's energy work to correct that imbalance,
- 37:51Speaker 1: because that's an imbalance. Yeah, and that's also why you
- 37:53Speaker 1: need to be protective of your energy, right, You can't
- 37:56Speaker 1: just give it away to everybody. You have to protect
- 37:58Speaker 1: it for yourself and but also recognize, like you, you
- 38:01Speaker 1: are exchanging energy with other people when you love on them,
- 38:04Speaker 1: even when you hate on them, you know, there's there's
- 38:07Speaker 1: energy happening. So it's really important that we protect it absolutely.
- 38:11Speaker 1: And there's a lot of different ways to protect your energy,
- 38:13Speaker 1: but there's also a lot of different ways to actually
- 38:16Speaker 1: engage in. Yeah, so let's talk about that. Um. One
- 38:20Speaker 1: of the things that we love is taking pictures, so
- 38:22Speaker 1: taking selfies, taking pictures, but then also commenting on our friends,
- 38:27Speaker 1: our sisters, our loves are locomotives commenting on their photos, right,
- 38:32Speaker 1: so engaging in like a whole thread of like I
- 38:35Speaker 1: just love love, energy exchange exactly exactly. And there's something
- 38:40Speaker 1: I mean, I know for me, Like when I'm feeling down,
- 38:42Speaker 1: I'll go back and i will look at a selfie,
- 38:45Speaker 1: you know, or I'll look at maybe some love that
- 38:47Speaker 1: someone was giving me, and I'm just like, all right,
- 38:49Speaker 1: here's a reminder your loved, you're cared for, You're going
- 38:52Speaker 1: to be good. So there's something in that as well.
- 38:55Speaker 1: What else do we do? What else is? What are examples?
- 38:58Speaker 1: And I love the photos too, because we were talking
- 39:00Speaker 1: about earlier what do we do with images of our
- 39:02Speaker 1: favorite goddesses? We have images, we like to see them visually,
- 39:07Speaker 1: So why not apply that same principle to ourselves. You know,
- 39:11Speaker 1: let's document ourselves so that we can go back and
- 39:14Speaker 1: worship ourselves. I agree with you, you know, I mean
- 39:18Speaker 1: our churches, not all churches. Different churches like keep out
- 39:21Speaker 1: images of like saints and other figures like that. So
- 39:24Speaker 1: it really depends on where you're from and in particular family.
- 39:26Speaker 1: But again, from my experience, we like to have images
- 39:30Speaker 1: and multiple images, many images. Oh yeah, it's not just
- 39:35Speaker 1: one photo. You know, why should I only have? You know,
- 39:38Speaker 1: what's so funny? And I share this with with Mala,
- 39:41Speaker 1: I think, or the mommies at least. Um, I have
- 39:43Speaker 1: a I have a picture of levit Hin but she's
- 39:46Speaker 1: made out of crystals. And I picked it up at
- 39:48Speaker 1: me Vida. I saw it. I loved it because I'm
- 39:50Speaker 1: like learning about crystals, like I use them in my
- 39:52Speaker 1: daily life. And um, when my dad saw it, he
- 39:55Speaker 1: got so upset. And it's funny that my dad is
- 39:57Speaker 1: the one that got upset because he is like, oh no,
- 40:03Speaker 1: like all these things because it's a reinterpretation when actually
- 40:06Speaker 1: levied him herself, and like Catholicism is a reinterpretation of
- 40:10Speaker 1: the unseen, right, we know that. So it's so funny
- 40:13Speaker 1: that my dad like takes us out of context and
- 40:15Speaker 1: it's so upset and then goes and tells my mom
- 40:18Speaker 1: and my mom because my mom's just like, what are
- 40:22Speaker 1: you talking about? And my mom is just like rolling
- 40:24Speaker 1: her eyes because we know how my dad is, and
- 40:26Speaker 1: he's just like it is here a religious man. He
- 40:29Speaker 1: can't like he's honestly like fluxed with his religion. There
- 40:32Speaker 1: was a while where he was, Um, I want to
- 40:34Speaker 1: say he was getting into like some type of Sandia,
- 40:38Speaker 1: which we don't really talk about. He won't talk about
- 40:40Speaker 1: it now. Yeah, oh, but you told us about this
- 40:43Speaker 1: before because it has like he does, he does, he does.
- 40:47Speaker 1: But recently he told me he made a comment about
- 40:49Speaker 1: how he's just like no, no, So I think he
- 40:52Speaker 1: had some type of bad experience that he won't talk about.
- 40:55Speaker 1: He won't share. So something happened that he will never
- 40:59Speaker 1: tell us sleep because he's a very private man. So
- 41:02Speaker 1: something happened and he said something like and I was like,
- 41:06Speaker 1: we're not getting into this with the last stuff. Yeah,
- 41:09Speaker 1: So I don't know what was happening there. But it's
- 41:12Speaker 1: just funny that my my my dad is just like
- 41:15Speaker 1: what are you doing? That is a picture of loving hand,
- 41:18Speaker 1: you know. So it's just it's it's really interesting the
- 41:20Speaker 1: way women recognize what's going on. And my mom is
- 41:25Speaker 1: just like rolling her eyes like sleep stop it. That's enough, right,
- 41:30Speaker 1: I know? So what else? Photos? Oh my god? Um,
- 41:35Speaker 1: I love one of my favorite artists ever in the
- 41:39Speaker 1: history of the world who I wrote an article about
- 41:41Speaker 1: hers in UM last summer. Her name is Monica kim Garza. Yes,
- 41:48Speaker 1: and she is. Yeah. I wrote it for a Vibe
- 41:51Speaker 1: online Vibe dot Com Vibe magazine in their Vibe Viva
- 41:55Speaker 1: like Latin Next platform, and I interviewed her and talked
- 41:58Speaker 1: about her art. And if you've never seen her art,
- 41:59Speaker 1: fall of her on Instagram, go on her website Monica
- 42:02Speaker 1: kim Garza. Love her because everything that she does I
- 42:06Speaker 1: can sider consider it all to be goddess worship and
- 42:09Speaker 1: meta goddess worship. She paints a lot of very beautiful
- 42:12Speaker 1: pictures of of fat and full bodied and thick and
- 42:17Speaker 1: curvy women of color, brown women who are mostly naked, topless,
- 42:22Speaker 1: titty's out, thighs out, eating tacos, drinking coronas on their bed,
- 42:27Speaker 1: text listening to Drake with their dog, with the dog
- 42:31Speaker 1: with the frieda and love your hand on the wall.
- 42:33Speaker 1: Absolutely meta goddess worship. You know, love her work, Love
- 42:37Speaker 1: her work. It's all about she. Everything is about just
- 42:40Speaker 1: loving on the female body at rest, at play, just
- 42:45Speaker 1: being gentle, being treated with love and tenderness, being fed,
- 42:49Speaker 1: not being harassed. Yea, And we talked about you when
- 42:52Speaker 1: you you named it as a famscape, which I like, Yes, um,
- 42:57Speaker 1: definite femscape. Definite femscape. And what did they make me think? Oh,
- 43:01Speaker 1: that made me think about how I would really like
- 43:03Speaker 1: a Monica can Garza painting in my room. Actly because,
- 43:06Speaker 1: as you all know the palace, I have this area
- 43:09Speaker 1: that is just a big wall and I really want
- 43:11Speaker 1: to put a painting there and I wanted to be
- 43:12Speaker 1: a Monica can Garza painting. I would love a Monica
- 43:15Speaker 1: can Garza painting. I'm actually hoping that if my boo
- 43:17Speaker 1: is listening, can you please commission a painting for me? Yes,
- 43:22Speaker 1: listen up, yes anyway, Um, yeah, that's another way Goddess
- 43:31Speaker 1: shut I think that you know, there's always been an
- 43:33Speaker 1: inclination to paint images of the divine and the Holy,
- 43:38Speaker 1: So that's just another way to do it, you know,
- 43:41Speaker 1: through paintings. I think in music there's a lot of
- 43:43Speaker 1: goddess worship that happened. Yeah, I mean, and then even
- 43:46Speaker 1: just caring for yourself right, So yes, we've talked about
- 43:49Speaker 1: masturbation before. I think really knowing your body, knowing what
- 43:53Speaker 1: feels good, Um, I can really I think elevate your
- 43:57Speaker 1: spirituality and sensuality. You heard it here. Masturbation is God's worship,
- 44:04Speaker 1: really incorporate it into your spirituality everybody. Yeah and yeah,
- 44:09Speaker 1: I mean, and I think there's just this um there's
- 44:12Speaker 1: this movement I feel that's happening of like folks reclaiming
- 44:15Speaker 1: like or mysticism or maybe learning more about it. And
- 44:19Speaker 1: crystals And I've seen those like dildos made out of crystals,
- 44:23Speaker 1: which I really want one. They're kind of expensive, but
- 44:25Speaker 1: I wouldn't really really, I really want one, And I
- 44:28Speaker 1: think it's just so it's really important because if you
- 44:31Speaker 1: think about like violence against your body, right, so then
- 44:35Speaker 1: you're like you're healing yourself from within with the crystal,
- 44:39Speaker 1: with maybe an area that you've experienced violence. So I
- 44:42Speaker 1: think it's like that's another way to really reclaim your sexuality,
- 44:44Speaker 1: your sensuality, especially if you've been harmed in that way.
- 44:48Speaker 1: So there's so much there. I feel worship can be healing,
- 44:52Speaker 1: it can be right because why does one go to church,
- 44:54Speaker 1: why do you pray? Why do you engage in any
- 44:57Speaker 1: type of spirituality. Yes, there's someone that I've follow on Instagram.
- 45:01Speaker 1: Her name is or her i G handle is Ethereal,
- 45:04Speaker 1: and she talks about how she sages her pussy. So
- 45:07Speaker 1: I'm really curious to know how. Yeah. So, yeah, she
- 45:11Speaker 1: has this really big post about like how she does it,
- 45:14Speaker 1: and it's you know, she like sets sets the mood
- 45:17Speaker 1: sets her, you know, her invokes her spirits, and her
- 45:20Speaker 1: clearly cleans the clean cleanses the energy in the room
- 45:23Speaker 1: and in her space, and she you know, is with
- 45:26Speaker 1: her legs open. She will you know, stage her her
- 45:30Speaker 1: pussy basically, So if she's trying to let go of
- 45:33Speaker 1: a partner, if she if she had a maybe bad experience,
- 45:37Speaker 1: and she wants this energy to be like disconnected. And
- 45:41Speaker 1: I hadn't really thought about it, but it's it's true,
- 45:44Speaker 1: you know what I mean, especially if you've had a
- 45:45Speaker 1: partner that you're like, this person needs to like never
- 45:48Speaker 1: ever be in my space again, especially in my pussyted exactly.
- 45:55Speaker 1: So I think it's really it's really interesting. I had
- 45:57Speaker 1: never actually heard that, but it makes a lot of sense.
- 45:59Speaker 1: I mean, you save your whole body, you know, why
- 46:02Speaker 1: not like focus maybe for ten minutes, like on letting
- 46:06Speaker 1: go of any type of harm that's been you know.
- 46:09Speaker 1: That makes me think of um, like the vaginal steams
- 46:13Speaker 1: and like the vaginal baths. I've never had one. I'm
- 46:15Speaker 1: really curious. Want I do. I want to try it.
- 46:19Speaker 1: I don't know whether I would want to do and
- 46:21Speaker 1: at home one or go to somebody. We should go,
- 46:25Speaker 1: We should should do. That should be like a little
- 46:27Speaker 1: field trip. We should start doing field trips and experiences
- 46:32Speaker 1: and then talk about them. I agree we should because
- 46:34Speaker 1: you all like that. Like that, because I know in
- 46:37Speaker 1: the him does them um laa loca maybe la. In
- 46:43Speaker 1: the future we might have some collapse and things. Maybe maybe,
- 46:48Speaker 1: I don't know, I'm not sure. Yeah, so yeah, I
- 46:51Speaker 1: mean I think there's just a lot. I think when
- 46:53Speaker 1: you're focusing on yourself, that's like that's the key, right
- 46:57Speaker 1: and not and of course not in like this way
- 46:59Speaker 1: where it's like no, I'm the only important being. No,
- 47:02Speaker 1: But it's like for these these maybe this hour or two,
- 47:05Speaker 1: I'm going to incorporate something daily that's worshiping just for me.
- 47:10Speaker 1: I'm worshiping my goddess, myself. I think, you know, the
- 47:15Speaker 1: diva is sort of the the earthly incarnation of the goddess. Yeah,
- 47:22Speaker 1: you're right, You're so right. It's a it's a it's
- 47:25Speaker 1: a complex like type of goddess, but a goddess. Nonetheless,
- 47:31Speaker 1: I love a diva same. And if we think about
- 47:34Speaker 1: you know, spiritualities and religions, especially Native there is usually multiple, right,
- 47:42Speaker 1: like feminine energies or goddesses that are sometimes they're in
- 47:47Speaker 1: competition with each other, they have beef realistically, but a
- 47:51Speaker 1: lot of times it's about balance and harmony, right, and
- 47:54Speaker 1: it coexisting and each element exists for a specific purpose.
- 47:59Speaker 1: So I think that when it comes to us, like
- 48:01Speaker 1: right now, thinking about ourselves as goddesses, our friends as goddesses,
- 48:06Speaker 1: and how we can nurture that and it's not competitive,
- 48:10Speaker 1: you know, when it can just be loving, yeah, absolutely,
- 48:14Speaker 1: or I mean even if it's not someone that maybe
- 48:16Speaker 1: you want to be friends with, but y'all can coexist.
- 48:18Speaker 1: It doesn't need to be some type of hate or
- 48:21Speaker 1: some type of bad energy because like we're like we've said,
- 48:24Speaker 1: like you want to protect what's sacred, which is your energy? Right,
- 48:27Speaker 1: don't you folk with my energy? Who says that? Princess
- 48:29Speaker 1: Nokia said she knows all about God is worship. She does.
- 48:33Speaker 1: That's what she does through her music. She really does
- 48:36Speaker 1: worship of herself. She also shares like her Little Blue
- 48:40Speaker 1: Goddess tips her Instagram as well and through um smart
- 48:44Speaker 1: Girl club. Yes, at her shows, she always makes it
- 48:49Speaker 1: very clear, you know, women fems, women of color to
- 48:53Speaker 1: the front. Always she does. When we went to her
- 48:55Speaker 1: show back in November, she's like, can y'all make space?
- 48:58Speaker 1: I want the walk to come up to the front,
- 49:00Speaker 1: And we did, and we did and we went up
- 49:02Speaker 1: front and it was so fun. So she does that.
- 49:05Speaker 1: She does that with her goddess worship. I think a
- 49:07Speaker 1: lot of singers um engage in goddess worship in their music.
- 49:11Speaker 1: I think that a lot of the types of like
- 49:15Speaker 1: dance and entertainment that women in fems, especially women of color,
- 49:18Speaker 1: engaging that are talked down on, our degraded, our types
- 49:22Speaker 1: of goddess worship. I think of strip clubs. Okay, yes
- 49:25Speaker 1: I didn't. I didn't share that update. I started. I mean,
- 49:27Speaker 1: it's I'm a pause right now. But I started taking
- 49:29Speaker 1: actually poll classes right and it was so much fun.
- 49:35Speaker 1: And yeah, I felt like such a goddess when I
- 49:37Speaker 1: was taking my classes because everyone is essentially nude, Like
- 49:42Speaker 1: you're not wearing it. You're basically wearing shorts and a
- 49:44Speaker 1: bron right, and you're really like learning the way your
- 49:46Speaker 1: body moves. And there's a course a giant mirror and
- 49:50Speaker 1: you're really just looking at yourself and feeling super sensual.
- 49:52Speaker 1: I mean, at least that's how I felt. Where did
- 49:55Speaker 1: you What studio did you take your class at? I
- 49:57Speaker 1: went to It's called fem Body Fitness, but yeah, I
- 50:00Speaker 1: went to one. Actually. One of the advocates, one of
- 50:03Speaker 1: the central assault advocates that I worked with when I
- 50:06Speaker 1: first volunteered, ever Um Rhonda hey girl. She yeah, she's
- 50:11Speaker 1: an advocate, but she also is um. She dances pole
- 50:15Speaker 1: and she teaches classes. And so I took a class
- 50:18Speaker 1: at the Sheila Kelly Studio and it was really difficult.
- 50:21Speaker 1: It was not easy. It's really hard, very physically demanding.
- 50:25Speaker 1: I was bruised, I was in pain. But yeah, they
- 50:28Speaker 1: had like the lights were dark, it was only candle light,
- 50:32Speaker 1: and it was super slow central music. And half of
- 50:35Speaker 1: the class was just about like rolling around on the
- 50:38Speaker 1: floor learning how to make your your your back arch
- 50:41Speaker 1: as much as possible, just really accentuating and exploring all
- 50:45Speaker 1: the curvatures, all the softness, you know, and fun exactly.
- 50:50Speaker 1: So I think of that as God us worship what
- 50:52Speaker 1: else so much more, you know, I think we wanted
- 50:55Speaker 1: to talk about how to worship that God us in
- 50:57Speaker 1: your life. So we had to. So we were talking
- 51:00Speaker 1: about um mot and I were talking about how there's
- 51:02Speaker 1: a fine line of when you're adoring someone, say you're
- 51:06Speaker 1: part you say you're a goddess worshipper, so your partner, right,
- 51:10Speaker 1: you're worshiping your partner, you recognize her or them as
- 51:13Speaker 1: a goddess. Right. So there's a fine line between being
- 51:18Speaker 1: adored and then being fetishized. And we have an example
- 51:20Speaker 1: of that from recently that's been circulating so on Twitter.
- 51:25Speaker 1: There's been going around and I think that it was
- 51:28Speaker 1: on BuzzFeed recently. But this guy who like is like
- 51:31Speaker 1: a bro I guess, self proclaimed, and he talks a
- 51:34Speaker 1: lot about and like writes articles and stuff about how
- 51:37Speaker 1: he is really into his wife because she's super curvy.
- 51:41Speaker 1: She's like a thick lady. She's a bigger lady. And
- 51:43Speaker 1: so it was really interesting because people were just digging
- 51:47Speaker 1: up more of his post and his work and it
- 51:49Speaker 1: was very clear that it really weird. It's uncomfortable, Like
- 51:52Speaker 1: what did you get from it? Like what was popping
- 51:55Speaker 1: out at you what he was saying. I mean the
- 51:56Speaker 1: first post, I mean I saw one post and it
- 51:59Speaker 1: was something like, oh, like people would like make fun
- 52:03Speaker 1: of me because I like like thick women. And he's
- 52:07Speaker 1: like this, you know, skinny white guy, which is fine, right,
- 52:10Speaker 1: And he and I presumably I think his partner is white.
- 52:14Speaker 1: I'm actually not sure. Um. And she's she's curby, you know,
- 52:18Speaker 1: she's honestly average. She's got average size woman in a
- 52:22Speaker 1: mayor in the United States exactly. Um. And he like
- 52:25Speaker 1: talks about like it's very centered around him and like
- 52:28Speaker 1: his desire for curvy women, so it makes him exceptional exactly.
- 52:33Speaker 1: So again, like in the male gaze, that's what's important
- 52:36Speaker 1: here and in his eyes what it says about him
- 52:39Speaker 1: exactly that he will be seen with her in public.
- 52:43Speaker 1: And I want to be clear that, like I think
- 52:45Speaker 1: that there should be as much public vocal verbal on
- 52:50Speaker 1: TV in real life online, you know, very clear loud
- 52:56Speaker 1: love and adoration of big women, of fat women, of
- 52:59Speaker 1: big women in yes, yeah, of course. But when we
- 53:02Speaker 1: talk about goddess worship, you're centering the goddess if if
- 53:05Speaker 1: what you're doing is complimenting her in order to say, well,
- 53:09Speaker 1: look how great I am for thinking that she's pretty
- 53:13Speaker 1: or thinking that she's you know, attractive, or desired or
- 53:16Speaker 1: desired that's no longer a goddess worship. You're not centering
- 53:18Speaker 1: the goddess. You're centering what your connection to the goddess
- 53:21Speaker 1: says about you. That's not how you do it. And like,
- 53:25Speaker 1: what do we here? When men are engaging with us
- 53:27Speaker 1: in conversations about street harassment, they assume that we like
- 53:32Speaker 1: it and we want it, and that it's a compliment.
- 53:35Speaker 1: But you see, worshiping a goddess is not harassing. You
- 53:38Speaker 1: don't force it onto a goddess. You offer it up right, Yeah, absolutely,
- 53:43Speaker 1: So when men do that on the street, it's not
- 53:46Speaker 1: in a complimentary way. It's not in a worshiping way.
- 53:49Speaker 1: It's in a harassing way. So there's a fine line.
- 53:53Speaker 1: So how how do you like? What is our how
- 53:56Speaker 1: to how to worship the gud? I mean, how do
- 53:57Speaker 1: you like to be worshiped? Start there? We won't get
- 54:03Speaker 1: to the end of the list. Between her and I
- 54:05Speaker 1: between and I I know, right, let me count the ways,
- 54:09Speaker 1: Let me count the ways. Let's see. Well, I always
- 54:11Speaker 1: say that gifts that partners, I love it, go for it,
- 54:15Speaker 1: say it, say it, put it there. I say that
- 54:18Speaker 1: whenever a partner gives me a gift, whether it be
- 54:20Speaker 1: like flowers, jewelry, um, a plant, you know something, it's
- 54:25Speaker 1: a gift. I see it as an offering. It so
- 54:28Speaker 1: I'm spending time with them. I'm sharing my body with them,
- 54:31Speaker 1: my time with them, my space with them. So they're
- 54:33Speaker 1: offering up to me something, right, something like in adoration
- 54:38Speaker 1: of me. And of course it's mutual, you know, absolutely,
- 54:42Speaker 1: that's one of the most important things. It's it's a
- 54:44Speaker 1: mutual love and you know we're co existing together. Um.
- 54:48Speaker 1: But I see their gifts as offerings because they value
- 54:51Speaker 1: my time and they recognize, you know, how important I
- 54:53Speaker 1: am in their life or whatever capacity. Right, maybe I'm
- 54:57Speaker 1: not the most important thing, because that's kind of weird,
- 54:59Speaker 1: but you know what I mean, it's an offering. I
- 55:02Speaker 1: love that. I love that. And the thing with the
- 55:03Speaker 1: offering is like, yes, let's talk about when it comes
- 55:07Speaker 1: to fens two women to goddesses, that there's always the
- 55:10Speaker 1: expectation that we should be grateful for any attention, for
- 55:15Speaker 1: any little gift you bought me one meal, I should
- 55:18Speaker 1: be grateful for you. No no, no, no, no no no.
- 55:20Speaker 1: It's an offering, and I can choose to reject it
- 55:23Speaker 1: or I can choose to accept it. Yeah, absolutely, but
- 55:26Speaker 1: it's up to me. Oh my god. Yeah, that reminds
- 55:29Speaker 1: me of that time when we were at Lasita and
- 55:31Speaker 1: some someone someone that I was seeing gave me a gift. Remember.
- 55:35Speaker 1: Oh yes, I remember very clearly. I remember that night. Girl. Man,
- 55:40Speaker 1: we're not going to get into the details, but it
- 55:41Speaker 1: was very uncomfortable because that was not that was not
- 55:45Speaker 1: an offering, That was a I got you this gift,
- 55:48Speaker 1: So spend time with me. I'm entitled to a dance
- 55:51Speaker 1: with you now because I gave you something. Right, It's
- 55:54Speaker 1: very uncomfortable as opposed to like, hey, like you're you're
- 55:57Speaker 1: coming over and making your dinner. Um, here by these flowers,
- 56:01Speaker 1: you know, I missed you this week or something. Right.
- 56:03Speaker 1: That's that's very different than here's spend time with me
- 56:05Speaker 1: now because I bought you something. Absolutely. See. I feel
- 56:08Speaker 1: like so often when it comes to especially situations where
- 56:13Speaker 1: it's the energy exchange is going from the masculine to
- 56:16Speaker 1: the feminine, that it's such it's so transactional in nature,
- 56:20Speaker 1: but with the expectation that the masculine is giving over
- 56:24Speaker 1: energy or a gift or something over to the feminine
- 56:27Speaker 1: and is expecting more and more and more in return.
- 56:29Speaker 1: Absolutely right, or is demanding it. It's seen as obligated.
- 56:33Speaker 1: But what we're saying is that that's not God is worship.
- 56:37Speaker 1: Gods worship is you offer it up selflessly without expecting
- 56:41Speaker 1: anything else in or and especially not demanding anything else
- 56:44Speaker 1: in return. Absolutely, you give because you want to, right, um.
- 56:49Speaker 1: And it's like our mothers and our grandmother's right like
- 56:52Speaker 1: taking care of us, raising us as little baby goddesses.
- 56:56Speaker 1: You know, like a lot of that is just selfless,
- 56:58Speaker 1: knowing they are not going to get anything back, and
- 57:01Speaker 1: it's an offering in its own, you know. Yeah, And
- 57:03Speaker 1: you know, and that makes me think about the way
- 57:05Speaker 1: like our our mother's adore us um or if you
- 57:08Speaker 1: have the relationship with your if your mother or your
- 57:10Speaker 1: grandmother is very vocal in her love. Everyone expresses their
- 57:14Speaker 1: love differently, but I know for I can speak for
- 57:16Speaker 1: my mother and growing up, she's just always been very
- 57:19Speaker 1: adoring of me verbally like to you're so pretty, And
- 57:23Speaker 1: one time I was very self conscious and she's like,
- 57:25Speaker 1: but but you're beautiful, Like you're so smart, you're so beautiful,
- 57:28Speaker 1: and just like really giving me this type of love
- 57:29Speaker 1: that I needed in that moment. So it's like kind
- 57:31Speaker 1: of growing up with this adoration, a mutual adoration, which
- 57:34Speaker 1: is what God has worship is right, because I adore
- 57:36Speaker 1: my mother, she adores me to and your mother in
- 57:40Speaker 1: most cases, in a lot of cases, your mother or
- 57:42Speaker 1: some other older or other woman in your life is
- 57:46Speaker 1: usually the one who's teaching you how to love yourself,
- 57:49Speaker 1: how to take care of yourself, head to tell how
- 57:52Speaker 1: to take care of yourself a k a. How to
- 57:54Speaker 1: worship yourself. Yeah, I mean, I always attribute my love
- 57:57Speaker 1: for makeup to my mother, and any type of work
- 58:00Speaker 1: I do surrounding self care, I always attribute it all
- 58:02Speaker 1: to my mother and the way she has her ritual
- 58:06Speaker 1: of makeup and applying it and taking that time for
- 58:09Speaker 1: herself and playing music that she likes. Right, So that's
- 58:12Speaker 1: definitely like a part of why I am who I am,
- 58:15Speaker 1: you know, I attribute that a lot of it to
- 58:17Speaker 1: my mother and the work that she does for herself. Absolutely,
- 58:20Speaker 1: I agree with you so much of what I do
- 58:22Speaker 1: day to day to survive and get through the day.
- 58:24Speaker 1: I'm like, wow, these are just all like mom lessons
- 58:27Speaker 1: that my mom gave me. She gave me literally all
- 58:30Speaker 1: of these tools she really did, you know? Thank you,
- 58:33Speaker 1: Thank you, Mama, thank you. Yeah, I love you. I
- 58:35Speaker 1: love you. Um so givel to you like to be worshiped,
- 58:40Speaker 1: I'm gonna ask you, girl, give me, give me and
- 58:43Speaker 1: oh god, you like to be worshiped? Oh my god,
- 58:46Speaker 1: there's so many ways. There's so many ways. You know.
- 58:50Speaker 1: What I realized in my last relationship is that I
- 58:53Speaker 1: kept lying to myself and everyone around me, and I
- 58:56Speaker 1: was I would say out loud to my last my
- 58:58Speaker 1: ex boyfriend, like oh yeah, right, like I'm not high maintenance, right,
- 59:02Speaker 1: Like you're so lucky, You're not with a high maintenance girl,
- 59:04Speaker 1: Like I'm so chill. But when you're if you're saying that,
- 59:08Speaker 1: then it means it's not true. It's such a I'm
- 59:11Speaker 1: such a high maintenance bitch. And I just had to
- 59:13Speaker 1: come to terms with it and just own it and
- 59:14Speaker 1: accept it. And I think that over the course of
- 59:17Speaker 1: my last relationship, I really truly learned that. So for me,
- 59:21Speaker 1: part of it is like knowing that there are people
- 59:24Speaker 1: out there that are compatible with that. I can't force
- 59:28Speaker 1: this on and I can't force somebody to be able
- 59:31Speaker 1: to handle all of this or to want to, you know,
- 59:34Speaker 1: I think that we also have this. We have to
- 59:36Speaker 1: be self aware as goddesses who can handle us and
- 59:39Speaker 1: who really cannot and we can't force it. Oh yeah,
- 59:42Speaker 1: not everybody can handle all this. If I want to
- 59:44Speaker 1: be worshiped, I also have to be careful about who
- 59:47Speaker 1: I'm asking that from I'm sharing my time with, Who
- 59:50Speaker 1: am I sharing my time with? Because I also don't
- 59:52Speaker 1: want to overburden somebody who's just not there for it
- 59:55Speaker 1: or not capable of it. Um. So for me, it's
- 59:58Speaker 1: like really important that I with someone who is patient
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: for me. Goddess worship is a lot of patients. You
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: can't rush a goddess. You cannot. Have you ever heard
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: of rushing a goddess? Now? So that reminds me. You
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: can't funk with somebody that doesn't see you as a goddess.
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: You cannot. I can't. Number one, I can't try and
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: convince you that I'm a goddess. You either get it
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: or you don't. You either understand that I need to
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: be catered to and spoiled and taken care of, or
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: you don't. And if you're not willing to do it,
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: there's plenty others that are. There are people who like
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: high maintenance bitches like myself, and like to like contribute
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: to that lifestyle, like to contribute to it, like to
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: keep you know, a woman comfortable, of them comfortable, like
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: to buy you groceries and keep your fridge full. That's
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: what I need. That's my God, give me, give me
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: money to get my nails done. Yeah, I don't think
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: it's that difficult. It's not so like for me. That's
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: goddess worship is can you keep up with me and
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: can you give me what I need in all the
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: multiple multifaceted ways that I need these things? Um, So
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: that's some of my goddess worship. I think food is
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: really important. Food is very important. I think about so
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: many religions and so many spiritualities where people offer up food,
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: like yes, we do that, and we offer food to
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: our dead and our ancestors because food is so important.
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: Is sustenance for me in in love and romance and relationships.
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: Food is really important. Those are my offerings, you know. Yeah,
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: I'm thinking like food, sex, flowers, sex is everything, and
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: goddess worship what else? Yeah? Sex, every sex, flowers, Yeah,
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: and just general I would say, just like taking care
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: of it's really taking care of someone if someone is sick,
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: tired down, having a bad mental health day. And I
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: think that that's such a fine line because it's like,
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: you don't ever want to burden someone with your mental
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: health stuff, right, Like you don't want someone to be like,
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: oh my god. Like it's hard to be with someone
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: that has a mental health disorder or is anxious all
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: the time. It's really hard. It's a lot of work. Um,
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: So it's like kind of again like another fine line,
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: at least for me. It's like I want some of
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: my partner to be here for me, but I also
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: have a therapist that I pay, you know what I mean.
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: So it's like I'm going to share with you maybe
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: something that I'm feeling, but also like there's other outlets
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: that I have to process my anxiety or something that
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: I'm feeling, you know, something that triggered me. So it's like,
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: can you take care? Can I trust that you're going
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: to take care of me and be there for me
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: not only physically but emotionally, And like we talked about
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: when we talked about our mothers and grandmothers as goddesses,
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: we also recognize that the goddess must be worshiped. Hello,
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: But the goddess also gives a lot in return. The
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: goddess is very generous in giving in many cases. But
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: you don't have to be and you choose right depending
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: on how you're being treated, depending on the energy. So
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: as a goddess, that also means we recognize the divine
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: and whoever we're with as well, and also appreciating appreciating
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: the feminine in the other person, yes, yeah, and seeing
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: them as a divine creature as well as something like
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: someone that is magical as well. Yeah. Yeah, there's so
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: many ways. There's so many ways to pamper us you
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: everybody like, it's it's great. The menu I'm picturing, Like,
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: how nice would it be if we were to, like
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: someone were to draw a bath for us and be
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: like here, enjoy. That would be really nice. That would
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: be lovely. See, we haven't like, well, we need to
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: go on a retreat or something. We've been talking about it.
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: We have. We've been talking about going away for like
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: a day or two, like just us so we can
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: gather and be inspired and take care of ourselves. Yeah,
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: hopefully soon, yeah, hopefully at some point. We got a planet.
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: But yeah, so we're trying to make goddess worship a
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: really system part of our self care, absolutely really consistent.
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: I think it's so important. It's central for me. I
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: mean saying we do it every day. Yeah, There's honestly
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: nothing that I love more than like when I'm laying
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: in my own when I'm laying in my room and
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: i have my himalayans Sa lamp on and I'm like,
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: have a candle on and I'm burning sage beautiful and
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: I'm like playing music or something. I'm in my robe
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: and I'm just like, this is my space. I feel
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: so like adored by myself right now. Absolutely, Yeah, that's important.
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: Another big piece how to worship a goddess, how to
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: worship me is also like, you know, you need to
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: leave a goddess alone sometimes, like our bigness and like
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: the multiplicity and like everything that's going on in our
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: heads and in our lives, we need to be left
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: alone once in a while, and we need to have
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: our space. I can't be crowded, I can't be cramped,
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: and I can't be felt. I can't feel like I'm
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: being forced to do anything or coerced or pressured. I
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: don't like that or expected expected, like listen, I don't
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: even listen to my damn self, Like I can't even
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: I can't even convince myself to do things like I
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: ignore myself. So you think, like you know, a partner
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: or somebody else pressuring me, it's just not gonna work.
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: I revoke it. I don't like it. I rebuke it.
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: So for me, it's like you have to just let
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: me rock and give me my space to breathe. And
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: for me, that's worshiping me and loving me. Yeah, and
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: I'll come back, and I'll come back once I'm recharged.
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: I'll be back if I want to, Yeah, exactly, if
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: I feel like, yeah, exactly exactly. How do you all
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: like to be worshiped? I have a feeling that some
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: of you have some really interesting ways, and I want
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: to don't hold anything back. We want to know. Yeah,
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: we will as always opposed to post something so y'all
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: can engage with it, and we can engage with you
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: because we want to know, because you know, it actually
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: does like help us to hear all of like when
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: you guys gave us like what do you put in
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: your whole kids? We're taking notes on this side. Somebody
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: actually shared in an email that she keeps see socks
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: it's okay, which I love because you hadn't thought about that.
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: But it's true, for these socks are so comforting. You
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: want to be comfy at all times. Yeah. Um, so
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: I mean, any final thoughts before we close out? Oh
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: my god, I just I love all the goddesses in
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: my life. I love being a goddess. I love talking
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: about goddesses. Um. I want more people to see and
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: love and grasp the divine feminine within. I agree with you,
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: you know. I think that we would all love ourselves
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: more and love each other more if we saw ourselves
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: and each other and everyone is divine and also flawed
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: and also flawed at the same time. So that's my takeaway.
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: How about you? What are your last words? Yeah? Last words, um,
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: continue like allow yourself to be adored and worshiped by others,
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: by yourself especially, and keep you know, showing the love
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: to the goddesses in your life, the women in your life,
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: thems in your life. Queer folks, you know, it's really
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: important that you that you tell people that you care
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: for them, you love them, you're there for them, and
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: let them care and love for you. You know it.
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: Sometimes it's hard to accept love right, genuine love and
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: care like caring kindness. Right. It's hard at times, but um,
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: you know, with something to work on and think about
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: and talk about, and we're excited to hear what you
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: tell us. How you engage in God has worship, how
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: you like to be worshiped, how you worship yourself? We
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: want to hear it all. We want to hear it all.
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: How do you worship yourself and your espasio and your palacio,
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: like we talked about like your sanctuary, so now right,
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: like your space is your sanctuary, your temple, you and
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: the temple. How do you tend to yourself and your temple? Absolutely? So,
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: I think we're going to close out now. So we
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: want to make sure that you guys utilize your new label. Yes,
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: so we want to mind j'all to follow, listen, share,
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: engage with us, Twitter, Facebook, SoundCloud. We're still working on
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: the iTunes, myths, still stay tuned, Just continue to stay tuo.
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: You know, some of y'all prefer iTunes and we do too.
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: We really like we liked when we were on iTunes.
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: We loved reading your reviews. So we're working on trying
